So would Bramblebitchstar still make Squirrelflight his deputy and would Shrewrunner just always telling him to fuck off because of how awful Bramblestar treats her? Idk why but I’ve seen Shrew as the type of sweet malewife that would go apeshit on Bramble with how poorly he treats her, especially in Squirrelflight’s Hope. If not I wanna know more about what you think would happen :0

In my AU the idea is Bramblestar develops well separate Squirrelflight! Yes he still makes her deputy for the same reasons, still doubts her judgement for the same reasons, and sometimes he can be an asshole - but because the dynamic of a romantic relationship is gone he can’t hold that power dynamic and guilt over her head.

He’s no longer a husband that needs/wants his wife to listen to him and feels betrayed by the kit/family thing, he’s just a domineering and occasionally annoying boss. He’s still an incompetent leader somewhat but that makes it so in the end Squirrelflight’s input actually serves him. He also has less incentive to feel like she’s undermining his authority or purposefully embarrassing him because they are both just doing their jobs.

Shrewrunner in my AU tries to avoid being a thorn in either of their sides, but he does comfort Squirrelflight in the average ways, defends her when her judgement comes into question, and is a good warrior/senior warrior.

I personally feel no joy punishing Bramblestar narratively more than I already do (which is essentially Squirrelflight struggles to trust him after he makes an attempt on Firestar’s life and the romance deteriorates) . I think by that point all the abusive behavior we grow to hate about Bramblestar just becomes character flaws, things that can exist away from the romantic relationship implications, and he gets to just be a grumpy boss that occasionally causes problems but doesn’t spiral Squirrelflight into depressions about her own status as a warrior, mother, and wife.

I’m glad to see him getting more attention from the fandom thanks to the Shrewrunner AU, I remember really liking him and Squirrelfight together even as a kid. He wasn’t around long but he definitely made an impression as one of the only characters who would take her seriously!

Territory: - Pine forest with tall, thick trees and dense groundcover.

Camp:   - The camp is a sandy clearing where two trees fell over, which are now shells of bark used to cover dens. The dens are made of sticks and brambles to from huts.

Threats - badgers, foxes, dogs

Primary Skills - Excellent fighters, but are skittish in open areas.

Landmarks - The Gorge/Ravine: border between Pineclan and BriarClan, the area around it is where most battles are held. - Hollow Pine: a hollowed out, small and cold pine tree where cats who—if they aren’t exiled instantly—disobey or are shunned stay. - Badger Caves: several small caves and small pits, most are abandoned by the badgers but are still at risk of collapse and injury if you fall in them. - Watering hole: a deep pond in the middle of Pineclan territory

No please its okay I love answering! It would be something along the lines of, “you know family is more important than anything” in reference to losing Hollykit and Larchkit and would just kind of simply “this is your family, and they need you,”. Similar to Leafpool in which he just emphasizes that, he only gets this chance to be a father and he needs to do it well.

Shrewrunner has a lot of anxiety about Squirrelflight not being able to have kits and also whether or not he’d want to raise more kids with Squirrelflight at all, so he wants Spiderleg to cherish what he has.

@celestialtabris okay I was thinking about this: how did Spiderleg feel when he saw that his brother and friend became warriors before him? 😂

Scrolling through Shrewrunner things and noticed the ask about Hollyleaf, and I also personally dislike her winding up with Fallen Leaves. My issue is not with FL however, it's with her ending up with a mate at all. She is literally the one character in the series who expresses NOT wanting a mate or kits, despite others telling her she will in the future. She then goes on to never express romantic interest in anyone, except apparently a dead guy which isn't even supported in text, just the tree.

That headcanon is good too! I’ve always been pretty neutral- leaning toward not liking - Holly/Fallen romantically but just because I grew up with the PoT and always saw her as having a crush in Cinderheart and Willowshine ++ Jayfeather/Fallen Leaves being a long time ship of mine. That being said her having no love interest at all is also cool! I think in that ask I mentioned in my AU she settles down with Cinderheart? I’d say that’s still the case but that’s in my AU for Shrewrunner, her having no mate is also cool 🫶🏾
