The sound of a domino being slammed on the table caused several other park goers to turn their heads and see a striking woman jumping out of her seat.

“That’s domino bitches! Y’all really thought you could beat me in dominoes? Shoulda checked my credentials mofos!” Y/N shouted, a huge smile on her face as she talked shit.

The guys around the table all groaned and huffed as she celebrated her win. Coco swore up and down that he would be the winner and Gilly was just as sure that he would be the one. EZ just wanted to play and Angel kept his mouth shut knowing his girl had been playing dominoes with her father and uncles practically all her life.

“Whatever, Y/N. You not seeing me in poker.” Coco grumbled, though he was fighting to keep a smile off his face. He was impressed.

“Well this aint poker is it? Run me my money.” She replied, rubbing her fingers together before holding out her hand.

The men all pulled out their wallets and placed the correct amount of money into Y/N’s hands. She grinned as she fanned herself with the money before draping her body across the smirking Angel’s lap.

“Oh hey there sexy. If you’re nice I might buy you something with this considerable fortune I just won.” Y/N winked.

“You my sugar mama now?” Angel teasingly asked.

“I do taste sweet so I think I fit the description.”

“Damn right you do.” He smirked, before leaning down to kiss Y/N’s lips.

Santo Padre’s mayor, Antonia Pena, had put together a community fair to help raise money for the town and uplift spirits. It was also a great way for local businesses to showcase what they have to offer. Services and items were put into a raffle that everyone who attended the event got entered into. Y/N even managed to convince Felipe to have a little booth to show off his fine cuts of meat and how they could best be used in meals.

Angel was so in awe of her. She managed to pull even his grumpy ass father out of the house and she was constantly a source of light in his life. He doesn’t know how he got so lucky, but he knew he never wanted to let her go. He loved her more than anything and he knew she felt the same about him. She never doubted him or made him feel inadequate. She understood even the ugly parts of him. Didn’t excuse or condone his behavior, but she understood it and always reassured him that she knew he could do better.

“Whatchu staring at?” She asked, after the kiss ended and he kept his intense gaze on her.

“My whole world.” He answered honestly and she felt herself get a little emotional.

“If you make me cry in public, I will hurt you.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” He replied, nipping at her shoulder and making her grin.

Neither of them had the best track record when it came to relationships. Angel had an awful habit of doing things without thinking about the consequences of his actions. Impulsive isn’t a strong enough word to describe how he is. He runs on emotion a lot of the time. It frustrates Y/N to no end. She doesn’t operate like that. She rarely if ever acts on impulse. She thinks too much. Worries too much about how people will react to her and her actions. Her hesitance to engage in things before she’s run every possible scenario through her head makes Angel want to pull his hair out. He hates seeing her unsure of herself. He makes it his mission to help her just get lost in the moment sometimes. And she tries her hardest to slow him down and make him think more on things before he acts.

His lifestyle also guaranteed their love won’t always be sunshine and roses. The first time Angel got hurt Y/N thought she was going to pass out. The level of panic and fear she felt almost took her down. When she finally got to see him in the hospital bed, she burst into tears. Once he was healed, she tried to pull away from him but he wouldn’t let her. The one time Y/N was verbally and physically accosted in front of Angel, he almost shot someone right in front of her. The need to protect her almost overrode his need to keep her away from the more violent side of himself.

The silence was deafening. Neither one was ready to take the first step and speak. The whole ride back home, Y/N never said a word. Not when Angel was getting chewed out by Bishop or when several people practically gawked at her even as they tried to make it seem like they weren’t. She was silent as she went through her nightly routine and prepared for bed.

It was as she sat on the edge of the bed, preparing to slide under the covers that Angel finally snapped.

“You’re really not gonna fucking say anything?” He practically growled at her, glaring at her from where he stood at the foot of the bed. He had on his usual sleepwear of a tank top and sweats.

She sighed, “What do you want me to say Angel?”

“Anything. Cuss me out, kiss me, or I don’t know, maybe thank me?” He suggested, sarcasm in his voice at the last part because he was clearly exasperated.

She cut her eyes at him fiercely. “Thank you? You want me to thank you?”

“Yes.” He stubbornly confirmed.

She shot up from the bed and spun to face him full on. She had never been so mad at him. “Thank you Angel for causing a bigger scene. Thank you Angel for almost igniting a war between two gangs over one stupid joke. Thank you for putting yourself in harm's way and almost giving me a heart attack. Thank you so much Angel.”

“That’s bullshit and you know it. It wasn’t just a stupid joke. You think I care so little about you that I wouldn’t fuck someone up for you?”

“I’ve heard way worse..” She argued, so used to minimizing her pain. Her dismissal of the incident as something trivial made him even more pissed.

“I don’t give a damn what you heard. Aint nobody gonna disrespect you in front of me and think I’m just gonna let that shit slide.”

“You could have killed him.”

“I DON’T GIVE A FUCK.” He exploded, making her freeze and stare at him with her mouth slightly open. “You’re mine. I don’t know what kinda cowards you been dealing with before, but I don’t play that shit. There is no joking when it comes to you. Not from some hijo de puta who has the audacity to put his hands on you. He’s lucky the only thing I did was bust him in the head with my pistol.”

“Angel…..” She sighed, her eyes closing as she took in his words. She understood his point but was still uncomfortable with the methods.

He walked over to her and cupped her face in his hands. He kissed her forehead before resting his head on hers. He spoke only after she opened her eyes, “You can be mad. I already know you are, but I’m not apologizing for protecting you.”

She had to get used to being loved and protected so adamantly by someone. So often left to comfort herself and bury her hurt, it took her a while to accept Angel’s form of protection. A part of her kept her guard up waiting for him to turn it against her, but that day never came. Any violent outbursts he had in her presence were never directed at her and so she found herself trusting him whole-heartedly. Her love for him deepened as time moved forward.

Y/N loved Pops and she enjoyed the family dinners with him and EZ, but she knew he was not the perfect father. He made mistakes and Angel still hasn’t completely dealt with the issues the mistakes left him with. Everything just got buried. She knew when he was starting to feel inadequate or like he didn’t deserve her because he would become even more clingy. He was already very affectionate with her, always having a hand on her back and kissing her head. She loved how open he was, but when he was going through it the touches would have a desperate edge to them. Like he was trying to prove something.

A new episode of Joseline’s Cabaret played on the tv showing off the Puerto Rican Princess’ latest antics. Y/N had on sweats and a tank top as she laid on your back and giggled at the fight on her screen. She doesn't know why she watches that show, but it was entertaining.

Her front door opened and in walked the man she’d been seeing for a year now.

“What did I tell you about leaving this door unlocked?”

“I knew you were coming over so why would I lock it?” She argued, tilting her head back to watch Angel toe off his shoes and take off his kutte.

“You’re so hard headed.” He slapped the outside of her thigh and leaned in for a kiss before lying in between her legs. His head rested on her stomach and her hands immediately began running through his hair. His hands ran over her thighs as he buried his face in her belly and just breathed her in.

“You walked right in so obviously I was right.” Her hands moved from his hair to slide down his back, feeling for any new bruises. “How was your day? Do I gotta kick someone’s ass for messing with my man?” She asked, a teasing tone to her words even though she was kinda being serious.

“I’m all good, mi dulce.” He responded, already knowing her touches were to comfort him but also give herself some peace of mind that he was with her and he was still whole.

It was quiet for a moment before Angel propped his chin on her belly and looked at her. She brought her attention from the television to him. There was a gentle look in his eyes, full of love but also a vulnerability that made her heart clench.

“You love me right?” He gripped her hips tightly as he searched her eyes for the truth in her words.

Her eyes widened at his question. “Of cour-”

He interrupted her. “Because I love you so damn much, querida. I know I’m not easy, but I try to be better for you.”

“Angel…” Her hand gently caressed his cheek as she softly smiled at him. “You are my favorite person in this whole world. You love me like no other and I’ll always love you. Never forget that. And when you do, I’ll be here to remind you.” She leaned forward to kiss his lips and felt his grip on her hips loosen.

The two shared loving kisses for several minutes before he pulled away and kissed her stomach before laying his head back down. His attention finally focused on the television. “What the fuck are you watching?”

She was unable to contain her giggles.

“Not at all gorgeous.” His words and his facial expression did not match.

“Then why are you smirking? I’m as serious as a heart attack. If you miss the ceremony where I’m awarded for my work, we’re gonna have some big problems Reyes.” She threatened, not letting that smirk get to her as it usually did. The club pulled him away a lot but some things she just needed him present for.

“Mmhm…how big?” He asked, still joking around.

“Angel!” She admonished, striking out to punch him in the stomach and making him grunt.

“You know I love when you scream my name. Sexy as fuck.” He growled, before playfully tackling her to the bed. She finally laughed as he kissed and nipped at her neck. He pulled back to look down in her eyes. “Hey, come hell or high water Imma be there. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”

The smile she flashed him was bright enough to light the darkest of nights.

Dabbing her eyes with a napkin, Y/N smiled as Angel and EZ shared a heartfelt hug after the best man speech. She knew EZ’s speech would be beautiful and she thanked him for his kind words.

“You’re my sister for real now.” He responded, making her wanna cry again but she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before Angel pulled her into a side hug.

“First dance time.” He whispered in her ear, taking her hand and leading her out to the dance floor.

“How does it feel to be Y/N Reyes?” Angel asked, his eyes taking her in. She looked so magnificent in her wedding dress. He wanted to rip it off, but also he couldn’t take his eyes off how good she looked in it. If he shed some tears when she walked down that aisle, who could blame him?

“It feels like the most natural thing in the world. I’m so beyond honored to be Mrs. Angel Reyes.” She responded, her eyes filling with happy tears but she refused to let them fall. She just felt so overwhelmed with happiness. Even though he’d long gotten rid of the jacket, she loved that he actually wore a suit. He hardly ever wore one and it was a damn shame. He looked so delicious she couldn’t wait for them to get back home.

Y/N found herself really taking the moment in. Their family and friends watched them with huge smiles on their faces. She couldn’t keep her eyes off Angel for long as he held her in his arms, his hands always making her feel safe. This was her life and he was her future.

Ben Hanscom SFW alphabet

A/N: It took me sometime, but I did it! I hope you guys like it. Feel free to like, reblog or comment. Also, requests are open (but I’ll do it only by december or if I have sometime by next month).

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Ben is touch starved, but instead of trying to avoid it, he does the opposite: he craves it like it is his last breath. He’s always hugging you, holding your hand, giving small pecks on your cheeks and the top of your head. While holding your hands, he caresses your fingers gently, and when he hugs you he tries to kiss you- it happens every time. Also, if you don’t keep alert, he’s already cuddling you, and it’s impossible to break free from his grasp. 

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Ben is very good with advice, so when you have a problem that you feel like you can’t ‘solve alone, you go to him for help. He’s always hanging out at your house (when you’re not at his) and you two always watch documentaries about one historical moment or other. You two probably met at an enterprise party of some sort, and then you started talking from there. As Ben has a hard time making new friends, Ben approached you and kept in touch pretty quickly.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Y.E.S. Ben is a sucker for cuddles, and even if he’s a muscular guy now, he loves to be the little spoon. He feels like someone cares truly about him, but most importantly, he feels safe and loved. Tough, sometimes he likes to hold you in your sleep because in that way he feels like he can protect you. Kisses and nips in the neck are included.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Ben’s biggest dream is to have at least four kids (though you two are negotiating the number of kids), a big house with a green backyard and two big dogs. Having a family with you would make his life even more perfect, and you two constantly talk about it. Ben is very, *very* good at cooking, as he had a lot of time to learn different recipes and to make nice dinners for you. About cleaning, he doesn’t mind, as he knows it is both of your responsibility.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Ben would probably be shaking. He would stutter a lot, looking around nervously. He would tell you his reasons, probably in the verge of tears, and after you left, he would cry and he would be sad for quite sometime.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Ben one of the most passionate, gentle and loving people in the world, and yes, shortly after you two got together he would think about marrying you. But he is also a respectful men, and he knows how to respect your time. If you don't want to get married right way, he'll wait until you are ready. If you want it right way, be ready to be called Mrs. Hanscom.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Ben is a little touch starved, but one thing he knows is to respect other people's times. He is smooth in his touches, always making sure that you are comfortable with everything. He holds you like you are made of glass. Emotionally, he is a sweetheart, always making sure that you are alright and that you are happy.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

He's the king of hugs. He got quite taller, so he finds it easier to hug you. He loves it because he can feel your warmth and your heartbeat. He hugs you daily: before you leave to work, when you come back, when you are cooking, before you take a bath and before you guys go to sleep. His hugs always make you feel safe like nothing bad can touch you if you're wrapped in them.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Pretty fast, and he wouldn't even realize he said it. Actually, only after some time, when you first said it back, he realized he's been saying it for some time. He probably said it for the first time before leaving for a meeting, and just realized so when he came back and you said it back to him.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Ben gets jealous only when people are acting too flirty with you. When it happens, he gets insecure about your relationship, about his appearance and about his qualities as a lover: is he not good enough? Would you be better with somebody else? But before he gets too sad, you hug and kiss him, and he realizes that everything will be fine.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Ben takes your breath away. Every time he kisses you, you can feel all the love, the adoration, and the admiration feels for you. He holds you close to his body so he can feel your warmth, and he holds you tightly because he’s afraid that when he opens his eyes, you’ll turn into smoke and he’ll find out it was just a dream. Most of his kisses tend to be calm ‘cause he likes to take his time, but sometimes he can’t do it, so before he goes to work, he tries to stun you with his passion, so you keep thinking about him for the rest of the day.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Ben loves children. He always has paper and pencils with him, so that he can draw whenever he has an idea. So, when there's a child around, he handles them the materials and draws with them. You guys have talked about kids before, and whenever it happens, he'll be thrilled. 

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Ben usually works from home, so he can wake up whenever he wants. It allows him to watch you waking up, to hold you close when you've just looked in his eyes and to kiss you slowly as a greeting. You guys do your morning routine together, and he always lets you put your masks and special soaps on him- sometimes he'll ask you to do it because "his skin is too dry".

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

When you get home, dinner will be ready, the table set up with candles or roses and Ben with a plate in his hands, getting everything ready. After you two eat, he'll do the dishes while you take a bath, and then you two will watch a movie or a show. And while doing it, both of you will have masks on your faces. Maybe some creams too, if he lets you put it in his face.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

It would come naturally. One day, he would be talking about his favorite band of when he was a kid, and in the other, he would be telling you about his fear of never be loved. Although, Ben would be very insecure about all the things he has lived. He would think that you would leave him if you knew everything, but he tells you anyways.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

It's very difficult for Ben to get angry at something: the only times he's shouted in your presence was while cursing a coworker or when he was under pressure. Even when he does get angry, he's easily calmed down by you.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing or do they kind of forget everything?)

Ben has one hell of a good memory. He remembers all dates, all small details, all conversations you guys had: he remembers everything and keeps it in his heart whenever you have a special occasion.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

The first time he showed you the scar on his belly and you showed yours as well. It was such a meaningful moment that he almost cried. He can still feel your cold fingers tracing his scar gently, giving him chills. That's when he realized that he wanted to be with you forever.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Ben is not very worried about your safety. Of course, he worries about you, but he knows that you can defend yourself, and only steps in if you ask him to. He protects you when you need to, and by hiving your space and time. He usually feels protected when you reassure him about himself or when you defend him from someone.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

A lot. Like, a lot. He's a very romantic guy, and he likes to demonstrate all his love and adoration for you by making cute dinners, giving you meaningful gifts and putting a lot of effort into making his everyday tasks.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Sometimes, when he's feeling insecure, he tends to get in his defensive self, and to "protect himself" from hurtful words, he says things that he'll regret later.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

A lot. He got a lot of shit when he was younger for being overweight, so he does a lot of push-ups and he can be very insecure about it. 

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Yes. Ben was a very lonely man before meeting you, so when he has you around for so much time and suddenly doesn't anymore, he feels empty and alone all over again.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

He writes you little love poems and leaves them around the house to crack a smile of you. He also likes the kisses he receives in return.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Someone who's too obsessed with appearances and "what will people think". He just wants to be with someone who cares about things themselves and not by their looks.

Z = Zzz (What is the sleep habit of theirs?)

He tends to get up in the middle of the night to drink water or to eat something, but he always tries not to wake you up when doing so. After that, he'll snuggle close to you to fall asleep with his nose buried into your neck.

I feel like vmin have been sexually involved for a very long time (since debut or before) but only recently started to realize that it was more than just friendship. BV 2017 seem to have cause a shift in their bond because it was Tae admitting his feelings in a way. Then they started to be physically close on camera way more (holding hands), and now, well, they are glued together and have been for the past few months. Maybe they are still figuring it out, but it looks deeper than friendship. (1)

(2) About BV2, it’s been discussed before by many that there was an awkward tension between Vmin in 2017 and some part of 2018. To me, it could be that they were trying to work out their relationship… If there was no label to it before, but one was ready to be more involved, it was probably hard to deal with it. Just a theory though. 

Hi and thanks for this ask, I always find it interesting to see other people’s views of Vmin and thoughts on their relationship. That being said, I personally haven’t seen anything that indicates these things about Vmin. But I don’t know what you base this on, so maybe I’ve missed something.

Now for me personally, if we consider Vmin being involved in some way I personally think it started early just like you said, but it’s difficult for me to see it as purely sexual. Even then the friendship they had was really strong and they spent a lot of time together, so I suppose it could have been a friends with benefits kind of thing, but at least looking at Taehyung’s behavior it really seems more like a proper crush rather than simple attraction. For example the tweet from Tae with “I only have you” doesn’t seem like something you would do with someone you have a strictly sexual relationship with. So I personally don’t think that if they already had something back then it would have been only sexual. Then at least for me it seems more likely that it was all platonic.

Also I think it’s super hard to really know when (if) they started some type of relationship, but what I can say is that there were a lot of indications early on from Taehyung that he was very interested in Jimin and wanted his and Jimin’s bond to be special. There are also interesting reactions and things they said and did, as well as members downplaying them or separating them. So at the very least the members have been careful about not showing “too much” since early on. They also seemed to always share rooms and even shower together so there are definitely suspicious things for Vmin since way back.

There are however a few things that have me wonder if they did actually start something or not, which is things like Tae asking or saying “Jimin seems to like men.” which would maybe be a little odd to say if he himself was already involved with Jimin. On the other hand he said this during I need you promo in 2015 so who knows, maybe he said it because he would want people to know? Not because he himself wanted to know? My view of Vmin’s different attitudes and personalities makes me feel like Taehyung would want to show everything, kind of shout out his love for Jimin from the rooftop if he only could, while Jimin seems much more dismissive and careful. Even back then acting crude, like how he answered Taehyung’s “You seem to like men.” with “I don’t like you” for example, or using the “your breath smells” excuse etc. It was a lot like Jimin was either  endeared or annoyed with Taehyung, with Jimin’s varied responses making it difficult to read what would lead to these odd moments. He still does this, as you saw in the Rkive vlive.

With Taehyung just his general behaviour from a lot of 2013-2014 seemed to be a bit like a “puppy love” and wanting Jimin’s attention but it could very well be a sort of “honeymoon phase” as well just that Jimin hid it better. Because Taehyung has really been all about Jimin since the start and even if Vmin isn’t real the odds that Taehyung has or had some type of crush on Jimin seems likely to me.

Regarding changes in their relationship I personally think 2016 is interesting to look at, because while the moments skyrocketed and they seemed clingier than ever they also stopped with doing vlives together, which as you all know is something I find very weird. I think popularity could be one reason behind why they stopped doing vlives, it’s also possible that this was a time when they decided to perhaps let more people know (besides members) about their relationship? Which could lead to different behavior if for example Big Hit got involved. It’s also possible they reached a point here were they decided to become more serious, but like I said, considering other love confessions from early on I don’t think they would have been only involved sexually until this point.

I believe the fact that Taehyung was struggling with filming Hwarang as well as the loss of his grandmother made Jimin extra attentive and that his attempts to comfort also made Vmin become more physical in front of cameras. Bon Voyage also showed us how difficult it seemed for them to be apart and later in the year during BST promo they were basically glued together. This was also a time when a lot of people started to ship Vmin romantically. I would like to call their behavior here their actual “honeymoon phase” if it wasn’t for the fact that they did a lot of things way before this. But in short 2016 and the start of 2017 has some of the most intense Vmin interactions and super clingy behavior. Tae’s head was really only filled with thoughts of Jimin around this time.

I think Jimin tends to be less careful if he feels Taehyung’s needs being dire enough. Which is also why I think in times like BV3 in Malta he is less careful both because of what Taehyung went through as well as because he himself missed Tae so much it was hard to hold back. TImes like these then seems like they could lead to them becoming more comfortable with being affectionate in front of cameras.

I also think Vmin likely monitor themselves and for example if they notice they can get away with something, let’s say holding hands, because they have already done it and fans didn’t make a big deal out of it, I think they would continue doing it. This is why I think Vmin gradually becomes more bold with doing things. The jumping hugs are another example, if they get away with it they seem likely to continue doing it. At first they can kind of hide it behind “comfort or fanservice” until they don’t need an excuse to do it any more because people have become accustomed to the behavior. The exception here would be kissing, which we have only seen Jimin do once, and that too was at a moment where Taehyung was sad and I think Jimin’s need to comfort was greater than his fear of “doing too much.”

As for your point on BV2 and the awkward tension of 2017-2018 I see this time as a sort of adjustment period from being very used to being open and almost carefree (think BST or ISAC 2017) into suddenly having to limit themselves quite a lot. This was when BTS really hit it big for the first time, and people really started to dig into every single detail about them. It’s also possible that if Vmin perhaps came out to others during this time that it’s Big Hit’s involvement that could have lead to some changes between them, simply because they were asked to or advised to change certain things.I also think the general tensions and problems in the group (when they were even considering disbandment) could have a lot to do with how they all behaved. Not just with each other, but with everyone. 

A third possibility is that they started to film Burn the Stage during their Wings tour that started in February 2017. The dates match when Vmin’s supposed “falling out” or ”awkward tension” could have started and it wouldn’t surprise me if that is because they constantly had unfamiliar crew around them, observing them and knowing it was all filmed and would later release to the public.

Did you ever notice Jimin turning around to look at Taehyung when they first were told about filming Burn the Stage and sat and talked about it? It could be nothing, but still, it’s something I noticed.

Basically I think Vmin would have to be more careful than before because they wouldn’t just be surrounded by mostly their own crew, and it would also show them backstage for long periods of time, and even during private time as well. Having to constantly watch your behavior would probably leave them strained. This reasoning is also why I think they avoid being on Vlive together, it’s simply exhausting to constantly have to be careful and watch your words and behavior. It could also explain why we see Jimin and Taehyung clinging to other members much more during tours that has camera crews filming them back stage etc.

This turned out quite long, I hope you liked reading it. And remember that these are just some of my own personal hypothesis on what could have affected and shaped Vmin’s relationship and behavior. But it’s way too difficult to know anything for sure since we definitely don’t get the full picture.

Our coming alongside you to encourage you was not out of some delusion, or impure motive, or an intention to mislead you, but we have been approved by God to be those who preach the gospel. So our motivation to preach is not pleasing people but pleasing God, who thoroughly examines our hearts. God is our witness that when we came to encourage you, we never once used cunning compliments as a pretext for greed, nor did we crave the praises of men, whether you or others. Even though we could have imposed upon you our demands as apostles of Christ, instead we showed you kindness and were gentle among you. We cared for you in the same way a nursing mother cares for her own children. With a mother’s love and affectionate attachment to you, we were very happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our lives—because you had become so dear to us.

Beloved brothers and sisters, surely you remember how hard we labored among you. We worked night and day so that we would not become a burden to you while we preached the wonderful gospel of God. With God as our witness you saw how we lived among you—in holiness, in godly relationships, and without fault. And you know how affectionately we treated each one of you, like a loving father cares for his own children. We comforted and encouraged you and challenged you to adopt a lifestyle worthy of God, who invites you into his kingdom and glory.

My dear brothers and sisters, the same thing happened to you as happened to God’s churches in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you received the same kind of mistreatment from your fellow countrymen as they did from theirs, the Jews who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and ran us out of town. They are offending God and hostile to everyone else by hindering us from speaking to the unbelievers so that they might be saved. By so doing they are constantly filling up to the brim the measure of their guilt, and punishment has come upon them at last!

Beloved friends, we may have been torn away from you physically for a season, but never in our hearts. For we have had intense longings and have endeavored to come and see in your faces the reflection of this great love. We miss you badly, and I personally wanted to come to you, trying again and again, but our adversary, Satan, blocked our way. The Letter of First Thessalonians, Chapter 2 (The Passion Translation)

Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 20th chapter of the book of Jeremiah where Jeremiah was wrongfully punished for sharing the words that burned inside that declared God’s Judgment of sin and lies:

When the priest Pashhur (son of Immer, chief officer of the temple guard) heard what Jeremiah was prophesying, he had the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the upper Benjamin gate near the temple, a place where everyone in the city could see this painful and embarrassing spectacle. The next morning, Pashhur released him from the stocks, hoping Jeremiah had learned his lesson. Instead, this is what he heard from the prophet:

Jeremiah: The Eternal no longer knows you by the name Pashhur. He has renamed you Magor-missabib, which means “terror on every side.” And these are the words the Eternal has spoken of you: “Certainly I am going to make you a symbol of terror—to yourself and to all your loved ones. You will see those close to you die in battle against the enemy. I will give all of Judah over to the king of Babylon, who will make them either casualties of war or prisoners of war. I will also give the wealth of Jerusalem over as plunder to this enemy. The resources and treasures of this city and Judah’s kings will be taken and carted off to Babylon. And you Pashhur, along with your entire household, will be taken to Babylon and become exiles. You and your friends who have heard your lies will never see home again; you will all die in exile in Babylon and be buried there.”

O Eternal, You deceived me into being Your prophet,

and I went along and allowed it to happen!

Your strength is too much for me,

and so You win; I speak Your words.

Just look at what I have become: a laughingstock;

all day long people mock me.

The only words coming out of my mouth

are loud cries of “Violence and destruction!”

It is the Eternal’s words—Your words—

that bring me insults and jokes all day long.

But when I tell myself, I’ll never mention Your name

or speak for You again, it’s no use.

The word of God burns in my heart; it is like fire in my bones.

I try to hold it all in, but I cannot.

I hear the crowds whispering behind my back and mocking my prophecies:

“‘Terror is everywhere we turn,’ he says. Let’s report him for breaking some law.”

"Because you are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" (Gal. 4:6). Note here the Spirit does not cry out using “esoteric” or abstruse names for God, nor does the Spirit refer to one of God's many titles based on the divine attributes, but instead uses a term of intimacy and profound trust. After all, the word "abba" (אַבָּא) is not so much a name for God as it is a claim about who you are -- it is a confession that you belong to the Lord as his beloved child... It has been noted that throughout his ministry Yeshua referred to the LORD simply as his "Father" though he used the intensive address "Abba, Father" (Ἀββᾶ, ὁ πατήρ) just before his arrest and crucifixion, that is, during his intercession at Gethsamane (גַּת שְׁמָנִים), near the olive oil press on the Mount of Olives where the anointing oil for the Temple (שֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה) was made, and therefore he called upon “Abba, Father” while in deep suffering and tribulation of heart (Mark 14:36). “Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will..." The mixed dialect of Hebrew and Greek here (i.e., Ἀββᾶ, ὁ πατήρ) may indicate identification with both the Jewish people and the Gentiles who would be united in his passion, as it says, shalom shalom la'rachok vela'karov: "Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near," says the LORD; "and I will heal him" (Isa. 57:19, Eph. 2:15). Knowing God as your "father" is a matter of the heart, an inner cry or groan coming from the miracle of spiritual rebirth. and another about grace and being connected to the True Vine:

Yeshua said: "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). We cannot create the new birth by means of moral reformation, since the divine life is a miracle from above and not the result of human agency or aspiration (John 1:13; John 3:6). If we "live in" Yeshua we will bear fruit - our spiritual connection or "union" with him is sufficient for every good work, but only fruit that derives from the life of Messiah will abide (1 John 2:17). Good works are a necessary consequence of regeneration in Messiah, but by themselves they are insufficient and something more is needed (Matt. 7:21-23). Therefore the Scriptures point to the salvation of God and his grace as the efficient cause for the miracle of newness of life: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..." (Titus 3:5); "for by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves (τοῦτο οὐκ ἐξ ὑμῶν), it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8); "so if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace" (Rom. 11:6).

Grace and human effort are mutually exclusive when it comes to life from above: "It is the Spirit that gives life (τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν τὸ ζῳοποιοῦν); the flesh (i.e., human nature) is no help at all" (John 6:63). There is a new “center” of identity within the heart: "I is no longer I who live..." (Gal. 2:19-20). We do not appeal to God for mercy based on our best efforts, but like father Abraham we believe that God brings life to the dead. In short we believe that "salvation is of the LORD" (יְשׁוּעָתָה לַיהוָה), that is, that God justifies the ungodly and performs the inner work of salvation on our behalf and for our healing (see Rom. 4:1-5:2). As C.S. Lewis once said in this connection: “The Christian is in a different position from other people who are trying to be good. They hope, by being good, to please God if there is one; or -- if they think there is not -- at least they hope to deserve approval from good men. But the Christian thinks any good he does comes from the Christ-life inside him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us; just as the roof of a greenhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it” (Mere Christianity). However we must not confuse cause and effect. The work of God is to believe in Yeshua (John 6:29) and we then learn to "work out" what God has "worked in" to our hearts by faith, as it says, "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure" (Phil. 2:12-13). God who has performed a good work in you will "confirm you to the end blameless in the Day of our Messiah Yeshua" (1 Cor. 1:8; Jude 1:24-25). [Hebrew for Christians]

My Every Prayer

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.” (Philippians 1:3-4)

The letter to the Philippian church stands as perhaps the most personal of the epistles, with Paul’s love for the believers being obvious. He expressed his love with heartfelt prayer for them every time he thought of them.

These prayers are constant in the sense that the Philippian believers were never far from his thoughts. Often Paul resorted to prayer for their personal needs and their relationship to God. His prayers are described by at least two Greek words of interest to us. First, he tells that he “thanked [his] God” (Greek eucharisteo) each time they came to mind. To another church he similarly wrote, “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:4). The word implies a sincere statement of genuine gratitude for their fellowship in being with him in serving God and partnership in the ministry.

Likewise, he used the word “supplication” (Greek deesei), an expression of gratefulness for his needs having been supplied. Paul’s needs were often provided for by those to whom he ministered, and he was profoundly grateful. The Christian minister is enjoined to remember his followers with “joy.” Paul remembered them in thankfulness to God for them and to them for their response.

We should strive to arrive at a balance between our ministry goals in evangelism and ongoing care for believers’ Christian growth and steadfast doctrinal purity. What is the state of our harmony among church members, as well as our prayers for them? JDM

What is your feel on Akira's character, him being a silent protagonist and all?

If you don’t mind me combining my own personal interpretations as well, and excuse the fact that I’ve only just beat the second boss, then here are my thoughts. I will gladly change my interpretation if I find new facts/observations.

TL;DR: Akira grew up with parents who didn’t necessarily physically abused him, but deprived him of love and what proper parents should be, and most likely emotionally abused him. Thus, he goes out of his way to be a good person who genuinely cares about people and wants to prevent more people turning out like his parents or that of the shitty society that forced him into his current situation.

From his upbringing, he’s probably wanted to rebel against his parents all this time but didn’t get a chance to do it safely/freely until he becomes a Persona user. He’s a decent guy who actually gets shit done when he sets out to do it. He’s a scheming, courageous, bold guy no matter what situation he’s in. Akira’s also kind and charismatic enough to know how to handle people and would be an excellent boyfriend.

Also he’s bi AF, fight me ATLUS.

The long rambling:

He seems to be familiar with harsh treatment since not only is it beaten over the head that nobody wants to give him a chance when he arrives at Shibuya, but I think it can be pretty much safely assumed his parents probably never gave much of a shit about him if they’re sending him to a person they only know through an acquaintance who happens to visit Sojiro’s cafe, who may not even be a regular.

He probably tries a little harder than most people to show he cares about his friends/lover so that he doesn’t turn out like his parents and so that his friends/lover don’t end up feeling like him: thrown away, alone, unwanted.

If he’s got a hidden rebellious side that isn’t released until he’s in Kamoshida’s castle we can probably assume he’s always tried to be a good boy and obey his parents and yadda yadda when he was still with them. But I’d venture a guess that his parents would be unsatisfied with him no matter what and him stepping in to save that woman was a good excuse to get him off their hands. Maybe his parents aren’t necessarily great people and would rather abide by a shitty society than stand up for what’s right.

Speaking of which, Akira was hesitant to save the woman but ends up stepping in. He’s a decent person but he was probably scared at first. Who wouldn’t be? An aggressive, drunk adult would probably have been violent with him. He protects Ann when she mentions that she feels someone watching her and so he escorts her with Ryuji without hesitation this time. He’s not scared anymore and he knows what his sense of justice is very well.

Given that he’s a silent protagonist, he’s not very talkative like the others, of course. However he still has his own distinct character. Minato/P3 doesn’t seem to care about bonding with people, as proven by the difference of social links against Minako/P3P/FeMC. Minako’s social links include the male party members and she’s generally more cheery than Minato, from her music to her dialogue options, which tells me she wants to talk to her friends over some dude from a different school. Meanwhile Minato could just get by with the social links that rank up automatically and honestly, it feels like he could care less about their lives. Yes, I’m biased.

Yu/P4 is a more naturally charismatic guy who’s gentle and is probably in a poly relationship with the main cast honestly. He has a sense of humor, considering some of the options you’re given to say. Ignoring the no homo bro vibes that are painfully in the anime, he’s a great guy. In contrast to Akira he’s liked pretty much immediately by everyone regardless of age and doesn’t seem to have any problems with his family or himself, other than he’s scared not to have friends since his previous high school.

Putting Akira against these protagonists, despite how attractive we the fandom see him, he’s probably seen as just an average quiet wallflower in the Persona universe had it not been for his probation stuff. Although we don’t see any reactions from him I’d guess he’s used to labels. Perhaps from his parents calling him useless or ungrateful? Or maybe he’s settled to just accept his situation. The Velvet Room reflects his inner soul after all and he seems to accept that he’s trapped in society’s shitty ways.

When he gets the opportunity to be a Persona user and change said society, he seems pretty happy. He’s got a lot more room to express himself and be an arrogant little shit and gains friends who come to understand him and have got his back, something he’s probably thrilled over. He has his chance to make a difference, he has people who care about him, he has a place where he can be free and let loose when the school day’s over and Morgana doesn’t bitch at him.

He has a sense of humor as well, sassy dialogue options, and bi as fuck dialogue. Ignoring the fact that you can romance adult women when he’s 15 and the terrible representation of gays aside, you can pretty much flirt with anyone in your gang but the boys don’t seem to be interested in him, either because ATLUS intervention or because he’s just not attractive to men. (I’m personally all for ace/aro Ryuji and Yusuke but anyway–)

He’s certainly bold and courageous, the prologue’s interrogation scene being a good example. You can defy writing your name despite being beaten, drugged, and trapped. If you aren’t stopped by Ryuji, you could shout that you love him over a mic. When he flirts, he flirts. Unlike people who just pick up recycled garbage, he observes certain traits about someone and makes sure to compliment them on it or flirt while keeping the other’s personality and character in mind. As a leader of thieves he’s a schemer who is probably laying out plans and tries preparing for everything at any given second.

Akira probably has a way with words with his charm and scheming mind combined. If he were in a different game he could probably be a mastermind. His fake glasses are supposed to his docile look, and he knows it. Had it not been for his “criminal record”, he could have gotten away with it. From this, I think he could be manipulative if he wanted to be.

He’s kind and gentle despite how he must have grown up and how he’s treated at the start of the game. He’s good with his hands considering how making shit like lockpicks requires attention to detail and delicate work; oh boy would I love to see how good he is with them in bed. If it comes down to getting nasty with his lover, he wants them as comfortable as possible and to satisfy them before himself. Further down the line, he’d probably want to try some kinky shit if they were down for it.

On the romance side he’d buy his lover lots of gifts and would save up as much as it takes to buy them something that would make them happy, whether it’s flowers or diamonds or whatever else. Thanks to his confidants he knows a couple good spots to take his lover, and from his lack of affection he’d probably be really close and cuddly frequently. He’d especially adore it if his lover was just as affectionate back but also probably overwhelmed that someone was actually in love with him. When he asks someone out in-game, he giggles like a nerd; he’d be overjoyed to know the person he loves returns his feelings. He’ll take his relationship slow and be anxious that he’s not “exciting” enough. From what this boy’s been through, he’s gonna need a lot of love and reassurance and support.

While Yu is also kind, I’d say how Akira’s upbringing shaped him would make Akira go out of his way to be a good person. “I’m not going to turn into someone from this society,” he thinks, and it’s not like he’s trying to fool himself or anything. He wants to make a difference, he gets involved with politics, he actually steps up to change it unlike a majority of teenagers his age who would just sit around and ask, “what can I do? I’m just a kid” and don’t bother. You want shit done? He’ll get shit done.

and this is a grace that is only seen in the True illumination of the Son.

for indeed, Hebraic History is of deep significance since this is how our Creator has revealed Himself to us as our heavenly Father. and we are meant to conserve spiritual truth in this world, to guard the heart where the Spirit abides within our own.

Paul points to this in the writing of his Letter with Today’s reading of the Scriptures being chapter #2 of First Thessalonians:

My dear brothers and sisters, it’s obvious that our ministry among you has proven to be fruitful. And though we had already suffered greatly in Philippi, where we were shamefully mistreated, we were emboldened by faith in our God to fearlessly preach his wonderful gospel to you in spite of incredible opposition.

Our coming alongside you to encourage you was not out of some delusion, or impure motive, or an intention to mislead you, but we have been approved by God to be those who preach the gospel. So our motivation to preach is not pleasing people but pleasing God, who thoroughly examines our hearts. God is our witness that when we came to encourage you, we never once used cunning compliments as a pretext for greed, nor did we crave the praises of men, whether you or others. Even though we could have imposed upon you our demands as apostles of Christ, instead we showed you kindness and were gentle among you. We cared for you in the same way a nursing mother cares for her own children. With a mother’s love and affectionate attachment to you, we were very happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our lives—because you had become so dear to us.

Beloved brothers and sisters, surely you remember how hard we labored among you. We worked night and day so that we would not become a burden to you while we preached the wonderful gospel of God. With God as our witness you saw how we lived among you—in holiness, in godly relationships, and without fault. And you know how affectionately we treated each one of you, like a loving father cares for his own children. We comforted and encouraged you and challenged you to adopt a lifestyle worthy of God, who invites you into his kingdom and glory.

This is why we continually thank God for your lives, because you received our message wholeheartedly. You embraced it not as the fabrication of men but as the word of God. And the word continues to be an energizing force in you who believe.

My dear brothers and sisters, the same thing happened to you as happened to God’s churches in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. For you received the same kind of mistreatment from your fellow countrymen as they did from theirs, the Jews who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and ran us out of town. They are offending God and hostile to everyone else by hindering us from speaking to the unbelievers so that they might be saved. By so doing they are constantly filling up to the brim the measure of their guilt, and punishment has come upon them at last!

Beloved friends, we may have been torn away from you physically for a season, but never in our hearts. For we have had intense longings and have endeavored to come and see in your faces the reflection of this great love. We miss you badly, and I personally wanted to come to you, trying again and again, but our adversary, Satan, blocked our way. For what will be our confident hope, our exhilarating joy, or our wonderful trophy that we will boast in before our Lord Jesus at his appearing? It is you! Yes, you are our glorious pride and joy!

The Letter of 1st Thessalonians, Chapter 2 (The Passion Translation)

Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 11th chapter of 2nd Kings where we read of a newly anointed young king, only 7 at the time:

[Athaliah of Judah]

Athaliah was the mother of Ahaziah. When she saw that her son was dead, she took over. She began by massacring the entire royal family. But Jehosheba, daughter of King Joram and sister of Ahaziah, took Ahaziah’s son Joash and kidnapped him from among the king’s sons slated for slaughter. She hid him and his nurse in a private room away from Athaliah. He didn’t get killed. He was there with her, hidden away for six years in The Temple of God. Athaliah, oblivious to his existence, ruled the country.

In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the captains of the bodyguards and the Palace Security Force. They met him in The Temple of God. He made a covenant with them, swore them to secrecy, and only then showed them the young prince.

Then he commanded them, “These are your instructions: Those of you who come on duty on the Sabbath and guard the palace, and those of you who go off duty on the Sabbath and guard The Temple of God, are to join forces at the time of the changing of the guard and form a ring around the young king, weapons at the ready. Kill anyone who tries to break through your ranks. Your job is to stay with the king at all times and places, coming and going.”

The captains obeyed the orders of Jehoiada the priest. Each took his men, those who came on duty on the Sabbath and those who went off duty on the Sabbath, and presented them to Jehoiada the priest. The priest armed the officers with spears and shields originally belonging to King David, stored in The Temple of God. Well-armed, the guards took up their assigned positions for protecting the king, from one end of The Temple to the other, surrounding both Altar and Temple.

Then the priest brought the prince into view, crowned him, handed him the scroll of God’s covenant, and made him king. As they anointed him, everyone applauded and shouted, “Long live the king!”

Athaliah heard the shouting of guards and people and came to the crowd gathered at The Temple of God. Astonished, she saw the king standing beside the throne, flanked by the captains and heralds, with everybody beside themselves with joy, trumpets blaring. Athaliah ripped her robes in dismay and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”

Jehoiada the priest ordered the military officers, “Drag her outside and kill anyone who tries to follow her!” (The priest had said, “Don’t kill her inside The Temple of God.”) So they dragged her out to the palace’s horse corral; there they killed her.

Jehoiada now made a covenant between God and the king and the people: They were God’s people. Another covenant was made between the king and the people.

The people poured into the temple of Baal and tore it down, smashing altar and images to smithereens. They killed Mattan the priest in front of the altar.

Jehoiada then stationed sentries in The Temple of God. He arranged for the officers of the bodyguard and the palace security, along with the people themselves, to escort the king down from The Temple of God through the Gate of the Guards and into the palace. There he sat on the royal throne. Everybody celebrated the event. And the city was safe and undisturbed—they had killed Athaliah with the royal sword.

Joash was seven years old when he became king.

Chanukah is important because it stands in decided opposition to the relentless propaganda of humanism and its ongoing attempt to deny the reality of the Divine Presence in our lives... It makes bold the statement that reality is not reducible to merely natural categories, and it repudiates the “Hellenistic” conceit that all religions are true, and it especially rejects the arrogant notion that the LORD God of Israel is just "one more member" of some globalist pantheon... Chanukah adamantly denies the politically correct dogma that despair is the universal condition of humanity and that darkness will finally extinguish the light. Like the gospel message, Chanukah scandalizes human rationalism and the solipsism that affirms that “man is the measure of all things.” “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world (νικᾷ τὸν κόσμον); and this is the victory that has overcome the world- our faith” (1 John 5:4).

Think counterculturally. It is written: Do not let your mind be conformed (lit., “squeezed into the mold”) of this world, but be transformed (μεταμορφόω, i.e., metamorphosized like a caterpillar is changed into a butterfly) by the renewal of your mind (Rom. 12:2). The Greek word translated “renewal” is ἀνακαίνωσις, from ἀνά, meaning “into the midst,” and καινός, meaning “newness.” The idea here is that we are inwardly transfigured as we take hold of the truth of the new covenant and make it central to our lives. For this we must “put on the mind of Messiah” and repudiate the world’s values and vain philosophy (1 Cor. 2:16). "When the devil is called the god of this world, it is not because he made it, but because people serve him with worldliness." The “god of this world” blinds the eyes of those who do not believe so they cannot see the truth of the gospel of Messiah (2 Cor. 4:4). The philosophy of this world is always based on lies, propaganda, fear, lust, pride, anger, appeals to vanity, and so on. We must be vigilant, friends, and use discernment by testing the world’s assumptions against the truth of the Scriptures. [Hebrew for Christians]

Today’s message from the Institute for Creation Research

Shielded by the Word

“I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” (Psalm 119:113-114)

The Bible is replete with military imagery. We are told to “wrestle” against the “spiritual wickedness in high places” and to be sure that we put on “the whole armour of God” (Ephesians 6:12-13). As the good soldiers of the King, we are told to “endure hardness” (2 Timothy 2:3) and expected, as His army, to be about the “pulling down of strong holds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

David was a warrior king, and many of his psalms contain battle terms used both literally and figuratively to show the way God protects and provides for us in spiritual warfare. The “hiding place” David often mentioned was a secret retreat that provided shelter from the enemy (Psalm 32:7). The “shield” can refer to the same sort of retreat but is most often used to describe a soldier’s defensive buckler. Faith is our shield in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:16).

Thus, in this stanza (Psalm 119:113-120), the psalmist visualized God in the role of Protector and Captain. He looked to God for his life while being upheld “according unto thy word” (v. 116). Safety was no doubt prominent in his thoughts while affirming that he had continual respect for God’s statutes (v. 117).

The psalmist was also fearfully aware of God’s take-no-prisoners attitude toward those who are against Him (vv. 118-119). While our gracious Lord and King is patient toward all sinners, His ultimate plan is to “put down all rule and all authority and power” (1 Corinthians 15:24). Knowing this, the psalmist concluded: “My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments” (Psalm 119:120). Only a fool refuses to fear the Creator’s wrath. HMM III
