Why is it when I talk to you I’m bored?

                  But I don’t really think he meant it

                  he never meant anything he said

You want all the same things I do

                  But he made me want to do them with him

You say you won’t let me go

                  but he said that too, and now he’s over there

                  but they’re all his favorites too

And say we have so many plans but they’re everything I was supposed to do with him

                   Everything he promised but never did

I still love him so much, it just hurts some days less

Vulnerability

As I sit down to pen some thoughts on the subject of vulnerability, I ask myself first, “What does it mean to be vulnerable, and are you truly being it?” If someone was to ask me today if I have been vulnerable, I would respond to them with a, “most definitely.” In all fairness though, that would just be a subconscious response almost in the form of defenses that I innately lean on in moments of fear; fear that no doubt has risen from someone asking me about my vulnerability. Vulnerability after all is scary, is it not? To be vulnerable is to be completely defenseless. Vulnerability aides us in a multitude of avenues within our life that all prove to be crucial to success and abundance, be it success in work or school, or abundance in the form of financial gains, the act of being vulnerable allows for these things to gain momentum. Essentiality, that vulnerability opens you up to critique and those critiques are essential to your growth. How would one expect anyone or anything to evolve without first trial and error? It is inevitable that all things in life will go through a point of vulnerability, whether it is found through surrendering to the vulnerability or it being forced upon you, either way you will stand in a moment and feel completely helpless until you realize that being vulnerable does not make you weak. Vulnerability is the opposite of weakness. The greatest of men and women have become that way through the trials and tribulations of life, and those events included moments of vulnerability. Take a moment now after reading this and instead of asking yourself if you have been vulnerable today, ask yourself “have I shared my strength today?”, because vulnerability is just that, strength disguised as weakness, and it is up to use to remind ourselves in the moments that vulnerability are needed to succeed that it is strength we are showing, not weakness.
