Why are people so hypercritical of characters that actively try to do good, when they're having a darker arc? (Yes I'm talking about Orym).

Because he is working through some shit right now, and yes, he's making some questionable choices. Being critical of that is very fair, but people are making him out to be some terrible person, that he's manipulative and the goodness of before was all pretend or something.

But when Percy had his revenge arc in Campaign one, he was no angel either, and people were loving that shit. He was reckless and destructive, blew people's hands of, at one point aimed his gun at Vax. He was a lot worse then Orym is being right now, with similar reasoning.

Why was the response to Percy so overwhelmingly understanding (as it should be), but with Orym now he's immediately a terrible person, and he should be held responsible and his trauma is no excuse, etc.

Like yes, he should be stopped, but more in an intervention than an angry confrontation. Because another paralel between these characters is that they're being self-destructive. They're so overwhelmed with their pain that they're making the wrong choices, and they need they're friends to pull them out of that, with love.

To come back to my intro, I think it's weird that to the fandom, Orym isn't allowed to make the same mistakes as other characters, and from the way people talk about him, it very much seems to be because people think he thinks himself to be better, that he's preaching something that he isn't practicing. But I've never seen him preach. I've only seen him trying to make the best choices he can from the beginning. He's stopped doing that now, because his energy is going into the hurt and anger he's feeling right now. And he needs to be stopped by his friends, but the amount if shit his character is getting from the fandom seems disproportionate.

Honestly should I even continue the bedposting? They get hardly any interaction most of the time, and 9/10 times I have nothing to talk about so I just say some random shit with little passion behind it. When I think to do the bedpost, it's not "time to share my thoughts before bed!" It's "oh yeah I gotta do the bedpost". Which isn't great.

They aren't stopping yet, just something to think about.

AO3 Comments are SO SO SOOOOOOO important because you can only leave Kudos ONCE. You add to the hit count ONCE (every 24 hours).

So whenever someone updates their fic, the ONLY way an author knows who their regular readers are is if they comment on each chapter. And we WANT to know who's still reading.

Believe it or not, some of us think about the name that pops up constantly in the comments and go "omg I can't wait to see what they think of THIS SPECIFIC SCENE cuz I KNOW they'll say something about it!!!"

Just a suggestion, but you don’t have to publish people’s anonymous back and forth arguments. Those aren’t actual confessions; they’re comments. If people want to reply, they have plenty of ways to do so (reblog, comment on the post, etc)

Yes, I know there are other ways for people to reply, but, I wanted to give people that don’t want their blog(s) shown/known the chance to reply to other’s asks anonymously as well.

If you don’t like seeing it, I can go back and change the tags for those specific asks. So you can just block off the word(s) “anon response”, “anon reply”, or “not a confession” as to not see it.

Or if it really does bother you guys I can completely stop posting those types of asks, I don’t mind. Does it bother anyone else? Please let me know, I want to make this as enjoyable as possible for you all!
