Another Miraculous Update

So here we are (at the time of my writing this, not publishing this) at the tail end of day 8, and not only am I doing well, I’m a full week ahead of where I need to be for the 50k word count, having just hit 25k!

So, while I have just hit 25k words, and could therefore be halfway through my story, if I had to guess I’d say I’m actually closer to being almost a fourth of the way through. Maybe. If I’m lucky.

I have covered most of the important plot points that I wanted to put in to establish the ways that this AU is different from the Canon storyline. So while that sounds like all stuff I’d have put in at the very start (and to some degree it is) keep in mind that it’s enough initially to establish the concept, and trickle out such backstory throughout the story rather than begin with the info dump from hell. So I’ve actually been doing that, so I’m maybe farther than that would imply. Maybe I’m even farther than I think?

I am trying to use the canon characters as much as possible, as I believe I said in one of my pre-November posts, and that’s been working out so far. However, I was kind of hoping to have introduced more of the characters from canon by now and shown where they are. For example, I do have plans for Juleka and Rose. I said before November even started that they were one ship I could promise you to be in the story and not be undone by the end of it. However, I’ve yet to really introduce either of them.

But, just for a bit of a preview so that if some of you are hoping a favorite character makes it into my story, I’ll go ahead and let you all know some of the characters that have gotten into the story already.

Chloé and Marinette are obvious, and while Chloé is not (at least at present) in possession of a miraculous, really the two of them are my undisputed main characters. I’ve also introduced Tikki of course, since Marinette is still Ladybug. But, as far as more secondary characters go, I’ve at least briefly introduced Alya, Mylène, Alix, Adrien, Gabriel, Nathalie, Jagged Stone, and Penny. There are more, but I need to keep some secrets.

I do have, so far, exactly one named OC, but you don’t need to worry about that character being some kind of replacement main character or anything like that. She’s currently only 3 years old, so barring some kind of time-travel shenanigans or magical aging or a huge time skip (none of which do I have any intent of doing) she’s not likely to have much of a role beyond maybe being akumatized once or something.

Another thing of note is that I just finished my first explicit scene. When I put the story on AO3 it will certainly have at least an M rating, but I might go E. If the scene I just wrote gets included it will be E, without doubt. However, scenes that push it over the edge might get cut, edited to be less explicit, or put aside and released as an E rated aside, with authors notes in the main story telling you ‘if you want to read the scene in it’s entirety go to chapter x of the side stories’ and a similar note in the side stories saying when in the main story that scene takes place. Anyway, I’m not entirely decided yet. But the scene in question is a Chloenette scene, so if you like that then look forward to it probably being included entirely either in the main story or side story.

With that said, I don’t really have much more that I want to update here, or even could without giving away story points I’m hoping to keep secret until you can read it in the story itself. Wish me luck with the rest of the month/story, and look forward to my next update.

i love slowed versions of songs, that is like the way to my heart lol 😂 this is really nice, her voice sounds really cool slowed down like this. the electric guitar in like the middle sounds so cool omgg. is it sad? yeah, a little, but it’s really nice slowed down like this. most of the time, the titles say this in my playlist, but i just like the way it’s slowed lol 😂. the thumbnail is so pretty 9/10, love the purple and the monarch butterflies :) overall, recommend this song when your in the mood for some olivia rodrigo, but a tad bit sadder. pretty sure i got this song from General Angsty (if i didn’t, apologizes), but this slowed down verison HITS THE SPOT. i love his voice in this slowed way, it is so interesting. also, it’s reverb? like? yes, please. the thumbnail is actually a GIF that is a fountain, it’s pretty cool, 7/10, also this makes me wanna sway with like Echo or something (actually now that i think of it, i’m pretty sure i got this from General Angsty’s dancing post with the boys, which made me so SoFt omg :)) overall, recommend listen to this when you wanna sway with your lover in like a dance club, but your nestled into their neck and your pulled so close and it’s warm in their embrace :) the instruments also are really nice in this verison.

okay definitely this song is sadder slowed, like THE FEELS OMGG but it’s amazing slowed, like the original is awesome, AND THEN THIS???!! so the thumbnail is a really pretty GIF of this VHS tape just playing, and it’s purple so 10/10. this definitely brings the raspy part of his voice, and i really like it (or that’s just the reverb lol 😂) only thing i do not like about this slowed version is it cuts off the end of the song at the end of the video, and I don’t know why, but it’s still really good, so i don’t mind too much :). it’s very pretty and sad all at the same time. overall, recommend listening to this song when your just chilling, staring up at the ceiling and your like “let’s be a puddle of sad for a sec”

so this song is incredible, like it slowed really hits different. billie’s voice has always been so interesting to me because sometimes she sings like very whisper like, and other times she is full on belting like going insane, and i really like that she uses her voice in multiple different ways during her songs. billie is the number one artist i go to when i really wanna be in the feels, and this verison of my future is so amazing. the beat is so interesting, and the thumbnail is really cool 9/10, also i don’t know what the language is nor, do i know what it says, so if you do, let me know lol 😂 but the picture is cool. this song is one i listen to all the time because it’s just- yes. overall recommend this song when your chilling in bed, just in the dark, with the window open on a summer night :)

okay, so we all know that I love Cinderella. and this song is so incredible, i can’t- okay, but just imagine… the bad batch, undercover at a senate ball, you, trying to make sure the senators are safe. the boys are in their separate locations, you know, watching, making sure everyone is good. some random dude from out of nowhere tries to make you dance with him. you are obviously like “um, what the heck, please no sir.” and suddenly…

“may i have this dance?”

it’s Hunter (or crosshair, but i’ve written a fic about Hunter dancing with the reader, so i feel like he would be a good dancer).

anyways, he whisks you away from random dude, and your like “Hunter there’s no music” because the orchestra just finished their previous song, and he’s like

“just wait.”

bam, this song comes on.

and suddenly, Hunter’s waltzing with you and you didn’t even know he could waltz. and it’s exactly like the scene from Cinderella 2015. So you two are doing your own thing in the middle of the ballroom, and everyone starts moving out of the way because woah these people are really good at dancing

and you are just shocked because HOW??

and he just leads you through the whole thing. he spins you around, and if your wearing a dress and it’s got some tulle on it, it swishes around when he spins you and oh my god the butterflies and smile he gets when you giggle because you love the way it swirls around you. and then people start backing up more, because at this rate, you guys are taking up the whole dance floor.

and you just keep going, and he starts pick you up and spinning you around when the harp comes on. and he grabs you by the waist and starts swinging you around just like Kit & Ella do in the movie. and then the end of the song comes, and he dips you, brings you back up, and that’s it.

and when it’s all said and done, you just look at him, and well, he obviously looks extremely handsome, his suit is all pressed, and his hair is done back in a bun, but he’s got a few wisps coming out from your whole little dancing experience, and all you can say is:

“I-”

“shhh, mesh’la. later. i’ll tell you later.”

anyways, thumbnail is a solid 11/10, and recommend if you wanna daydream about dancing at a senator ball with Hunter.

sleeping beauty is one of my favorite disney princesses besides rapunzel & cinderella, so i love this. The GIF is so pretty, 10/10. Aurora’s voice is pretty, and her vibrato is so much more prominent in this verison, and i am obsessed. this is so pretty, I- speechless, actually. and then philip comes in and it’s just ✨ also, i always like aurora in the pink dress when i was younger, but now i kind of like the blue dress more. they should have just given her a purple dress i guess lol 😂 overall, really pretty, recommend when you are in the mood for some more nostalgic disney vibes :)

Season 5 is a treasure trove of romance angst. Why aren’t people grateful?!

That has honestly puzzled me so much.

It is straight up like a love triangle, soulmates, dead wife back from the dead, enemies to best friends to partners to lovers, slowburn bellarke fic, with incredibly romantic tropes built in, like everyone sees it, and jealous!clarke, and he’d do anything for her, and all is lost, and lessons from the dead, and parent trap.

But there is a lot of angst. And I guess the obstacles to a romantic bellarke love story seem insurmountable. If you BELIEVE in bellarke, they just seem like romantic tropes and romantic obstacles on a long term romantic bellarke story and you can watch as it all falls together. 

But if you believe that Bellarkers are DELUSIONAL, and JR is evil and just fucking with us, and Bellarke is just PLATONIC, then you can’t trust that all the obstacles set up in s5 are just OBSTACLES, not an entirely different narrative arc in which Clarke and Bellamy do NOT end up together. 

I just reblogged a post which basically said “I love romantic angst, but if it doesn’t lead to a happy ending and LOVE being the point of everything then I don’t want it.” I think that’s what’s happening to the fandom. They have been convinced that romantic bellarke is NOT the point and there will be no happy ending. So therefore, season 5 is an angst they are not here for.

I think a lot of people feel that s5 is a betrayal of them. Personally almost. They think Bellamy betrayed not just Clarke by dating Echo, but also them. I’ve seen people rate s5 Bellamy as the worst Bellamy, and I’m just amazed at that because he’s so heroic and strong and protective and he saved all those people. He was the hero of season 5, not Clarke, and with all those people saying that Bellamy has been sidelined, this is his season to shine. But I guess the people who hate Bellamy in that season might be the Clarke stans who think it’s spacekru vs Clarke, and think Bellamy’s loyalty to spacekru makes him worse as a character. Or OOC, even though Bellamy IS protective so it’s not ooc for him to be protective of spacekru. It’s not like he isn’t protective of clarke also? He sacrificed his sister for her! BUT they may also be looking at it from Clarke’s POV. She idealized him and when he came back from space with Echo, she realized he was NOT her imaginary boyfriend, and then when he “betrayed” her and put the flame in Madi to save Clarke’s life, she believed he was against her and just as awful as everyone else. So fandom’s opinion of Bellamy is Clarke’s opinion--- but Clarke is much more forgiving than fandom.

Alternately, in the spacekru vs clarke fanwar, some people come down on the spacekru side. And they declare that Clarke is now the villain and they hate her. and Bellarke is declared dead now, as they love B/E. They love Bellamy from that season, but think him OOC in s6. Both factions hate Bellamy not because he’s *changed* but because his loyalty seems to focus on the woman they DON’T ship him with. I think both are inaccurate interpretations because in both seasons, he’s focused on CLARKE. Just because Echo is his girlfriend does not mean that he’s not still in love with Clarke. He doesn’t know what to do with it until he loses her again in s6.

BUT because season 5 has both Clarke AND Bellamy confused about what it means to be in love with each other and neither are ready to act upon it, the fandom sees that confusion first, instead of the love. 

The thing about a good love story is that we want to SEE the development. And a good love story should not all be POSITIVE development. Without the obstacles, we are not as invested in the love story as we would be if they had to FIGHT to love each other and to be together. Because it has to be IMPORTANT enough to the characters that they would overcome anything to be with each other.

Now, I know that Bellarkers are frustrated with the super slow burn of bellarke, and that’s fair. But that means they want a quicker love story than is shown. And that’s just not what they’re writing. I’ve heard people say, “Okay I know you’re supposed to show not tell a story, but it’s time to stop showing and TELL us they’re in love.” And that. Is just not how you tell a good story. And the people who say it KNOW that. They want to sacrifice the story being told in order to get culmination of bellarke, what they want. 

Look, I may be captain of #teamfuckingkissalready but I stopped posting that. There’s a reason. It’s because I didn’t understand the timing of the story before and now I do. It’s a SEVEN SEASON LONG EPIC LOVE STORY. JR told us that we would eventually get to the bellarke story, but not yet (he said that in s2 I think?) He told us that bellarke was the main relationship (that makes it a bellarke fic.) He told us they were soulmates. (and if that meant platonic soulmate then he would not have made B/E a thing only to have Clarke jealous of them kissing because THAT ONE SCENE made it clear their connection was indeed romantic, reinforced with Octavia saying “another traitor you love” and comparing b/e to b/c.)

They have been holding onto bellarke as a romance since season 1, doling it out in drips and drabs. ARGUING in the writers room about when to show romantic bellarke. They don’t argue it in the writers’ room anymore because THEY ARE WRITING A BELLARKE ROMANCE NOW.

BUT if people were convinced by the CL fandom, and gaslighted into not believing the textual evidence they saw with their own eyes that it was romantic, and bullied with toxic gossip from people who claim themselves as “authorities” and “in the know,” then they don’t see the romantic storyline anymore, but only that the obstacles have stopped the forward momentum of romantic bellarke.

That’s not true. Bellarke romantic development has continued forward, but a few canon scenes of B/E makes them thing none of the romantic bellarke matters anymore. Bellamy was STARING at Clarke, jealous of Cillian, and picking a fight with Echo because she wasn’t more like Clarke, and THEN abandoned Echo at the shield to disappear with Josephine so he could save Clarke... and people think Bellarke is less important than B/E? When after the fact, he’s like “oops, i saved you and forgot about my girlfriend” and STILL tried to keep her from going back to save Echo et al if it was going to put Clarke at risk?

A story is not about disparate canon scenes. You CAN’T separate them out and say you know what’s happening. A love scene with Echo does not mean Echo is endgame... unless you have scenes before and after that MAKE it endgame, make it the primary relationship. INSTEAD, whenever there was a love scene or intimate scene with B/E, it was SURROUNDED by scenes putting Clarke as the hero, Bellarke as the primary relationship, Clarke as the one Bellamy would do anything for. But when Bellarke was in an intimate scene, it was surrounding with... more bellarke. Feelings. Discussions. History. Partnership. Devotion. OR in other words, the development of the bellarke narrative arc. 

I get very frustrated, because the people who think s5 sucks because B/E exists and Bellarke had their “all is lost moment” where it seemed impossible for them to get together, and Bellamy seemed to care for spacekru more than Clarke (not really,) are taking fandom analysis, which is often wrong, as more real than the canon.

IDK. I don’t really think it’s that confusing. It’s a BASIC love triangle plot. It’s just slow. So to me, it is clearly and canonically a romantic love story between Bellarke, which means I KNOW Bellarke are getting together. And all the evidence supports that. And so I can handle the angst. It’s “OMG CLARKE LEFT HIM TO DIE!! HOW WILL THEY OVERCOME THIS?!!” not “OMG CLARKE LEFT HIM TO DIE!! BELLARKE IS DEAD!!”

People who hate s5 seem to think Bellarke is dead. 

People who love the angst and pining and romantic tension of season 5 seem to think Bellarke is full steam ahead.

And isn’t it delicious?
