Master Quest || AZ & Nate

The Tower of Mastery stood as one of the last true ancient symbols of Kalos. AZ could recall the days of his reign when he visited the surrounding city, then battle-worn. Construction of the tower was still underway, though nearly finished, but it was halted by the war that was tearing Kalos apart. It had been built as a monument to a rare and ancient power, far more ancient than even AZ himself was. He was never privy to the secrets of this power, though in times previous to the war, he was allowed to spectate during some of the spectacular matches held by the masters of the secret known as Mega Evolution.

AZ had hoped to gain the favor of the masters that held the secret of its success. Such a power could held him turn this war in his favor once and for all. Unfortunately for him, his brother had already been through the city. The people of the coastal region favored AZ’s side, though the masters remained steadfast in their neutrality in the war. It was a shame that his brother had apparently chosen a side for them. He stole some of the precious stones needed to unlock a Pokemon’s full potential and would soon try to use them in battle, according to the masters.

The masters refused to speak with AZ any further nor side with him despite his brother’s deplorable actions. They would not pick a side, no matter what. Besides, they were confident that his brother could not use the stones. Though the reasons were vague, it was said that his brother didn’t have the key to using these stones the way the masters did. AZ was relieved to hear this, though disappointed that he still was unable to learn of Mega Evolution’s secrets. At the very least, the war was still even in terms of strength for now...

The tower was truly a spectacle in its completed form. AZ had never laid eyes on the finished product until now, three thousand years later. It was in pristine condition, though if he were to guess, they probably updated and replaced some of the work over the centuries. Regardless, it was just as beautiful and as impressive as it had been before, if not more. He returned because he wanted to learn and become a student. AZ was well-versed in so many subjects that he couldn’t count them all, but he was always learning, and there was still so much he didn’t know about the world.

AZ had also heard that the masters of Mega Evolution were far less secretive now. The descendants wanted to share the power with the world, not hoard it in fear of its abuse. It was time for AZ to learn a thousands of years old secret. He inhaled and exhaled deeply before pushing the heavy stone doors open.

No one was on the first floor, but the sound of laughter and chatty voices echoed throughout the various levels. AZ almost felt as though he was intruding upon the area as his footsteps echoed throughout. He stood in the center of the impressive building and stared up to the very top. So many floors... so might the master be at the top? There was only one way to find out.

AZ trekked up each floor diligently. He stopped every once in a while at the rooms that lay on some floors. There was chatting throughout, but he was certain they were not who he was looking for. He pushed on, taking the spiraling staircase to the very top floor. The sounds slowly grew fainter until there seemed to be no human sound at all. Was the master out...?

“Hello...?” AZ called out, louder than he intended. The deep, booming voice surrounded him on all sides as it echoed. As he reached the final floor, he saw a young man. “I’m sorry. I hope I didn’t startle you. Er...” AZ paused to take a good look at the young man. He didn’t seem like the master... but this world was full of surprises. “You’re not the master of this tower, are you...? You seem like a pupil to me... I’m looking for the master of Mega Evolution. I want to learn from him.”
