Muimui: Honestly looks the most like an uncropped Doberman or a Rottweiler? The little eyebrow spots are iconic. (Although the muzzle is a bit skinny for a Rottie). (The ear shape is not quite right for a Beuceron.)
Anowtrid: Most likely a Spitz breed! Husky or Malamute seems to be a likely answer, but it could also be a Norwegian Elkhound.
Nussa: Looks similar to Anowtrid, so they could be littermates. It could also be a Lundehund if we assume a smaller size.
Fucci: This one's a freebie - That's definitely a Kurzhaar. Look at the spots! (I grew up calling them that and refused to use the term German Shorthaired Pointer. Kurzhaar sounds so much cooler)
Mutty: Another freebie - this is obviously a Chow Chow. Look at that sad little face.
Botsu: Could also be a couple things ! The single-color coat and sad old man face give me the vibes of a Weimaraner, which is what I'm going with.

Hello! I figured the best way to get the ball moving on this particular attempt at another platform was to introduce myself.
I’m Janni (pronounced like yawn-ee) and I am known as theladysparks over on other social media sites in the bookish social sphere. I have been a part of the online bookish community since July of 2019. I was dealing with postpartum depression and had just started getting into reading again, hopped on IG to look up a book and saw that there was this entire community on here that combined two of my favorite things - photography and reading. And the rest was history.
I live in Texas with my husband, our two kids and our dog, Murphy, who is a german shorthaired pointer/blue heeler mix. Up until early December of 2024, I was a wedding photographer but I decided to hang it up (at least for now) because I am homeschooling both of my kids and it was just a lot on my plate. I was recently diagnosed with OCD and I have anxiety. I also have TMJ which can be pretty debilitating at times.
I’m 5’1. My favorite color is pink. My hair is naturally curly. Dr. Pepper is my life’s blood. I’m a big fan of Reylo, Mass Effect, & Dragon Age (plugging my video game screenshot account @theladygames - where I share gaming things.) I love wearing bows in my hair. I’m a big fan of making new friends here so please never hesitate to reach out!
✨(I am pro-liberation, pro-choice, & anti-AI: if you don’t agree, my platform isn’t for you!)✨

15 People 15 Questions
ty for the tag @babygirlboberrey 💛
1. are you named after anyone?
no, but i was very almost named after perdita from in 101 dalmations until my dad stepped in and said absolutely not to the pregnancy hormones. ftr my mother maintains to this day it wouldn't have been a bad name. can you imagine. perdy.
2. when was the last time you cried?
within the last week for sure. it's just such a wonderful time of the year.
3. do you have kids?
nope, and that's never going to change. i neither want kids, nor would be a good mother, and i have a hard enough time looking after myself lmao.
4. what sports do you play/have you played?
i used to competitively swim through high school (although not in the way i think that equates to in the us), and i played football (soccer) on and off. the big one was show jumping, i made it all the way up to competing internationally for gbr. i used to wake up and ride at 5am before school and then again after school which, looking back, was quite frankly insane. i took being the weird horse girl Very Seriously.
5. do you use sarcasm?
more than other people probably appreciate.
6. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
i've honestly never considered this before this question but i think maybe clothes??? or colours of clothes? i'm not sure why either, i never remember them.
7. what’s your eye color?
blue ish
8. scary movies or happy endings?
if i'm alone, happy endings. if i'm with a bunch of people, scary movies. i'm a baby. i need emotional support.
9. any talents?
i'm very good at horses. i've never lost anything when i've been drunk. i can type much faster than i should physically be able to considering i use three fingers total. i can water ski (fairly useless tbh). i'm also very good at bringing animals home from the streets (my family would argue this is not a talent but a curse). i can sing, sort of.
10. where were you born?
uk
11. what are your hobbies?
watching hockey. suffering through f1. reading. running. hiking. swimming. playing guitar (badly). apparently lately building my own furniture. rewatching the same three tv shows over and over again. making gifs when the divine inspiration strikes. playing sims. baking.
12. do you have any pets?
four cats: a grumpy ginger and white old aged pensioner called spike (actually. maybe this is just claude giroux in cat form); loulou, who looks way too posh to have come from the streets; mishka, the love of my life my sweet angel baby darling who never does any wrong; and pasha, demon void cat who followed me home 3 months before i moved countries (and wasn't that a headache and a half) and who's probably going to send someone (me) to an early grave.
two dogs: indy, looks exactly like a fox, found her in the desert outside the rescue centre and they refused to take her in. she's my little mountain dog. and alfie, who we rescued 6 months ago, and who is best described as 'imagine there's a velociraptor in your home but the velociraptor is on fire and also your home is on fire and also you are on fire and also'. he's majority german shorthaired pointer. iykyk.
13. how tall are you?
between 5'8 and 5'9
14. favorite subject in school?
i used to love maths because it required a lot less brain power and subjective answers than everything else. in uni, my forensic science classes, or the only enjoyable thing from my first time round at uni, some fake ass course to build up credits called 'the universe as an art' which consisted of going outside to look at the stars and writing a poem about the moon.
15. dream job.
training horses. which sort of was my job that i had to give up when i moved here :)
i think a lot of people have already been tagged but @yabagofmilfs @amandaleveille @girldewar @tblueger @masonshaws @babygirlspurgeon

Doggust 2024 Day 1: Mutt
I drew my Aunt's dog from my childhood. She was some sort of German Shorthaired Pointer/Bully mix I think? She had the same coat pattern and pointing instinct as a GSP, but was a bit stockier and this orange color. She was a sweet girl who was terrified of other dogs and I loved going to my aunt's house to play with her :)

Today's Dog: The German Shorthaired Pointer, a retriever! By show standards, these dogs are only meant to be white and/or brown. They are not usually solid color, though. The most famous GSP I can think of would be CJ, who won the 2016 BIS at Westminster!
Today's Monkee: For Pete's Sake! Peter wrote this with Joseph Richards, and it's a Micky lead. As it's from Headquarters (1967), the band plays most of the instrumental, with Chip Douglas on bass.

Skell's Opinions - June 23 Polls
They're funny, I swear. Please remember that these are just virtual pets and stuffed animals. I will not rise from the depths of hell to strike you down for liking them (as metal as that would be).
Something about pets with spots just looks nasty. The signature German shorthaired pointer has a cute plush, but please, keep those in-game spots away from me. Also earth fawn looks like leafeon. Here's a cute image of the dog plush as compensation to whoever this take pisses off.
Tumblr media
Reindeer calf's smile sees something in my soul that even I didn't know was there. Fear. It's some kind of fear. He looks cute in-game though, promise. I have to give it to purple goldfish, however, for having the cooler pet specific item (and being purple).
Tumblr media
Honestly, poodle and mocha pup are equally as good. Defaulting to poodle for simply being more OG.
Wow I hate the cute octopus, but I hate the pioneer pony's patterning more. From afar, it looks like its flesh is falling off the bone. Put it out of its misery.
I can't stop thinking about how the kiger mustang looks like Chris Mclean's ponysona. HELP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lollipop snail looks like something out of Turbo (derogatory).
Akita puppy comes with a cherry blossom hot tub??? Yeah no springy kangaroo is dust.
Tumblr media
We did it. We found the worst Webkinz. It's texting puppy.
Literally what is on top of groovy gorilla's head, it looks like a sea anemone gone parasitic.
Ya'll. Ya'll. The Rottweiler has a pool table with a chain on it. And his food is served in a studded bracelet. The Webkinz I never knew I needed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoppy floppy bunny wins by virtue of not being celestial unicorn.
Signature horse is VERY cute, but I had to side with Rockerz cat for being horrendous in the most endearing scene-kid-wannabe way.
Weimaraner is the obvious choice when up against a print catastrophe. What is wrong with you all for voting musical Dalmatian? There's worse prints, but I stand firmly on my ground.
I dislike the tinker pets, but I hate the goblins.
Brilliant penguin has a way cooler pet specific item than 2023 French bulldog.
Tumblr media
Ok, tanuki versus axolotl is a wild matchup. These two are tanks that could easily destroy many other foes, and yet they wound up together. Pity. I sided with tanuki for weeb points.
I'll admit, I voted for glamorous gorilla ironically.
*Sigh*, do I have to pick the cat? Well, black panther cub was up against ballet pup, so I guess I do.
Kiwi parrot is a very cute concept, but I'm handing it to the sea otter for also being cute, and, more importantly, having a plush.
Chonk boi expectation versus adult human man reality:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
White swan. Based.
Cocoa dinosaur is a lesson in how to do Valentine's day without inadvertently telling me you only learned 2 colors in preschool (pink and red).
Tumblr media
Angora bunny has a cute plush, but they really dropped the ball with the wing-like ears. Buttons bear is stinkin' cute, however, and comes with a little sewing machine. Bless.
Basset hound. It has everything. Being a classic pet, having a cute plush, and, most importantly, being able to wear more than just shirts, hats, and glasses. Sorry not sorry, blue bay dolphin.
Signature cheetah is so yellow, it looks like cheese. I like cheese.
The boxer is inoffensive, but sheep is baby.

Isn't it like, past midnight for you right now? Go to bed!!!
Anyway, German Shorthaired Pointers are really cool dogs! They're a pointing breed (hence "pointers") so as hunting dogs go they're fairly stable. Their job is to seek out prey (quail mostly) and point it out to the hunter. They do not flush the quail like a Beagle or a Coonhound might flush out a rabbit. They just find and alert the hunter to where the quarry is. Super cool work. Lots of fun to watch.
That being said GSPs are pretty stable for being a hunting breed. They're super energetic, friendly, and just happy dogs. But they're a doing breed. If they don't have something to do they either find something to do (chewing walls, furniture, etc) or they become nervous wrecks. I've never met one that didn't end up being found perched on top of the fridge at some point in their lives.
Not intending to call you out or anything but you remind me of that. You're fun, you have the energy of fifty hamsters (seriously how!? I'm so exhausted all of the time) and you are the picture of happiness and joy in the small things of life. But I see the little moments when you don't have something to focus on and your energy shifts. You get ansty and a little nervy. You need somewhere to put your energy. You need to be doing. That's not a bad thing of course. It's just you. It's a by product of all that boundless energy and joy you have bubbling up in you.
So yeah, you remind me of a GSP. They're my second choice for pointing breed. Super cool dogs. My favorite color are the liver roan.
…it was midnight when I got this ask. And I. Stayed up. Two more hours. Before going to bed *lowers head shamefully*
Dude I love it when you talk about something you’re passionate about oh my goodness-
“I've never met one that didn't end up being found perched on top of the fridge at some point in their lives.” Oh dear XD
Though actually, I quite like sitting up on counters! And I also have a loft bed… hehe
I GOT CHARACTER ANALYZED BY DEATHY HECK YES THIS IS AWESOME!!! Whoa this is so cool to read!! Wow!!!
Awwww, the liver roan is so cute!!

Picking the Perfect Partner: A Guide to Hunting Dog Breeds
The symbiotic relationship between humans and dogs in hunting has a storied history, dating back to millennia. Dogs, with their acute senses and specialized skills, have been indispensable assets to hunters across cultures and eras. From tracking prey to retrieving game, the best hunting dog breeds have elevated the hunting experience, fostering a unique bond between man and beast. In this article, we will look into what breeds make good hunting dogs to help you make an informed choice when selecting the perfect partner for your hunting adventures.
Importance of Choosing the Right Dog Breed for Hunting
Choosing the right hunting dog is a decision that can make or break a successful hunt. The diverse characteristics of various breeds play a crucial role in determining their suitability for specific tasks. In this guide, we’ll explore the physical traits, temperament, and specialized skills that make certain breeds excel as hunting companions.
Characteristics of Good Hunting Dogs
First, let’s start with the characters that make a hunting dog a good hunting dog.
Physical traits
Size and Strength: A balance of size and strength is essential. Larger breeds may excel in retrieving larger game, while smaller, more agile breeds may navigate dense terrain with ease. It is your responsibility to know what size category the dog you want belongs to and if it is the appropriate size for your needs.
Stamina and Endurance: Long hours in the field demand dogs with exceptional stamina and endurance to keep pace with their human counterparts.
Speed and Agility: The ability to move swiftly and navigate obstacles is crucial for flushing out game or pursuing it in the field.
Temperament
Trainability: A trainable nature ensures that the dog can quickly grasp commands and instructions, making it an effective partner in the field. Make sure you start gun dog basic obedience training at an early age.
Intelligence: Intelligent dogs can adapt to various hunting scenarios and make split-second decisions, enhancing their overall effectiveness.
Eagerness to Work and Please: Dogs that take joy in their work and seek to please their owners make for loyal and dedicated hunting companions.
Specialized Skills
Sense of Smell: A keen sense of smell is a hallmark of a great hunting dog, aiding in tracking and locating game.
Retrieval Abilities: Retrievers excel in retrieving downed birds from water. This is crucial that all gun dogs should learn especially when hunting birds.
Tracking Skills: The ability to track and follow a scent trail is invaluable for locating wounded game. Hunters rely on their dogs for tracking since birds use camouflage so they can be difficult to spot visually.

Training and Care Tips for Hunting Dogs
Early Socialization
Early socialization is crucial for hunting dogs. Expose your dog to various environments, people, and animals from a young age. This exposure helps them develop well-rounded social skills and reduces the likelihood of fear or aggression towards unfamiliar situations. Introduce your dog to different terrains, water bodies, and hunting scenarios to build their confidence and adaptability.
Consistent Training Routines
Consistent training routines are the foundation of a well-behaved and effective hunting dog. Positive reinforcement training methods work best for these dogs. Start with basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, and recall. Gradually introduce hunting-specific commands like “point,” “retrieve,” and “heel.” Ensure training sessions are short, engaging, and tailored to your dog’s age and skill level. Consistency in training helps your dog understand expectations and builds their hunting skills over time.
Proper Exercise and Nutrition
Adequate exercise and nutrition are paramount for hunting dogs. These dogs are known for their boundless energy, and regular exercise helps them stay in peak physical condition. Engage your hunting dog in activities like running, swimming, and retrieving to channel their energy positively. Additionally, provide a balanced diet that meets their nutritional needs, which may include high-quality commercial dog food or a specially formulated diet for active dogs. Consult your veterinarian to determine the right diet for your specific breed and hunting style.
Routine Veterinary Check-ups
Routine veterinary care is essential for the overall health and well-being of your hunting dog. Schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian to monitor your dog’s health, administer vaccines, and address any potential issues promptly. Hunting dogs may be prone to specific health concerns depending on their breed, so it’s vital to discuss preventive measures and early detection of conditions with your vet. Regular check-ups ensure that your dog remains in top hunting shape and enjoys a long, active life in the field.
Choosing Your Hunting Partner is Important for a Successful Hunt
Choosing the right hunting dog breed aligned with your specific objectives, be it upland game, waterfowl, or big game pursuits, is an important choice. The success of your hunt hinges on this decision. Remember, each breed contributes distinct skills and traits crucial to the hunt’s outcome. Beyond the practicalities, the bond between a hunter and their dog is an extraordinary partnership founded on trust, loyalty, and shared outdoor adventures.
To prospective hunters, choosing the right breed is the first step in a lifelong adventure that demands dedication, patience, and commitment to training. Happy hunting!

These dogs share many similarities, making the decision even more challenging for prospective dog owners. In this comparison, we'll delve into the distinctive characteristics of each breed, exploring the nuances that set them apart and the traits that make them equally appealing.
Similar Yet Distinct:
At first glance, the Vizsla and German Shorthaired Pointer may seem almost interchangeable. Both are medium to large-sized sporting dogs with a sleek, athletic build and a striking coat. However, upon closer inspection, differences emerge. The Vizsla boasts a distinctive rust-colored coat, while the German Shorthaired Pointer exhibits a more varied palette, with liver and white or solid liver being common. These variations in coat color may be subtle, but they contribute to the unique charm of each breed.

Tailoring training methods to each breed's specific needs is crucial for a harmonious coexistence.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Companion:
In the end, the decision between a Vizsla and a German Shorthaired Pointer depends on individual preferences, lifestyle, and specific requirements. Whether seeking a loyal family pet, a dedicated hunting partner, or an athletic companion for outdoor adventures, both breeds offer unique qualities that can enhance the canine-human bond.
