Short-term health insurance For temporary gaps in coverage
However, while short-term health insurance provides immediate relief, it’s essential to understand its limitations. These plans often exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventive care, maternity care, and mental health services, among other essential benefits required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As such, short-term coverage should be approached as a temporary solution while…

Basically. I got screwed.
I am very sorry for how relatively quiet this blog has been but I've been dealing with a very unpleasant situation the last few months, and now I need help.
Essentially, I tried to help someone out, and she took advantage of me, and I have no way to recoup my losses.
Earlier this year, I moved into a new house. Before we sold the old house, a Now-Former friend ran into some trouble and was about to become homeless with pets and a small child. Not wanting them to be on the street, we offered to hold off selling the old house so she could stay there for a little while, if she could pay the cost of the mortgage on that house (because I could afford one mortgage but not two) while we helped her find somewhere more permanent.
I was not making money from this- since I was still paying the utilities and property taxes, I was actually losing money, but willing to soak that in order to help her save up and get her on her feet.
Instead, she:
Never Paid a Dime towards covering the mortgage costs like she agreed ($12,000 for the nine months she was there)
Trashed the house ($500 dump fees for the trash alone)
Let her pets piss and shit all over the house ($1,500 bio hazard cleanup, $4000 to replace the carpet and other damaged flooring)
Caused an electrical issue in the garage ($900 to repair)
Broke the washer, dryer and refrigerator ($2500 to replace)
Broke the fence ($1000 to repair)
When I told her I could no longer financially support her and that I needed to sell the old house, she illegally squatted there for a solid three months and I had to hire a lawyer and actually take her to court to get her to leave ($2,500)
The resulting stress has been, as you can imagine, stressful.
So stressful, in fact, that it aggravated a the medical conditions my husband had and made him extremely sick. He had to go to the hospital and take time off work to recover. Now the health insurance is trying to weasel out of paying his short-term disability claim.
So net, this woman has managed to cost me around $25,000 and that's not taking into account the missed paychecks and medical expenses. I do not have $25,000, and until at least $13,000 of that is spent to repair the damage she did, I legally cannot sell the house to even begin to recoup my losses.
Theoretically, I could sue this woman, but she doesn't have any money and it would be me paying even more money I don't have to get... Nothing. So I'm asking for help to cover the costs of getting the old house ready to sell, my husband's medical expenses, and other expenses incurred by this debacle:
If you can help out in any way-share, donate spare change, anything- I'd be extremely grateful.
Thank you.

American to English translation for fic
So I read and write fanfic, as do lots of others, and I've noticed that when it comes to British shows or movies, Americanisms or American terms crop up often. It's mostly because most don't know we have specific terms for things in the UK, and I've seen references here and there before, but I've decided to write one of my own. Feel free to add to it tho! I'm gonna put it up on Ao3 too and any additions, I'll reference the tumblr and link them on Ao3 too.
AO3 link is here!!
Anyway, here we go I guess.
Some Americanisms to English-isms
Gas = fuel/petrol/diesel (we tend to specify the type of fuel the vehicle uses, diesel vehicle or petrol vehicle for example)
Gas station = petrol/fuel station
Gas court = petrol/fuel court, or sometimes forecourt (not often with this one tho)
License plate = registration plate/reg
Diner = cafe
Fast-food = takeaway (this is sort of interchangeable. McDonald's is called fast food, a meal from a pizza place that delivers is takeaway)
Motel = hotel
Side-note: We tend to use specific named hotel chains like Premier Inn (or Prem-Inn for short) or Holiday Inn or Travelodge. We also have Britannia Hotels and several others. If the fic is based in a specific place, local hotels or famous ones may be better options. For example, in Liverpool, we have The Shankly or Adelphi.
Cab = taxi or black hac for a specific type of taxi.
Side-note: These are what you see in BBC Sherlock, for example, and are a UK staple. They're less popular or common-place nowadays but there are dedicated taxi companies that use them. There's on in my town that operates until 4pm each day. They are also usually more expensive than a car taxi but they have oodles of space and you can have a pram/buggy kept upright rather than folded-down in them which is brilliant.
Cop = police officer
Side note: more informal, colloquial terms include "copper", "the fuzz", "tit-head" (because of the nipple hat okay, just look up the hat, it's hilarious), "bobby", "rozzer" (pronounced r-o-z-er not Row-zer), and "the bill" (there's an actual show called this btw. It can be a good reference for anyone writing crime fic in UK). There's more but those are the most common. Older terms do include "peelers" and "old bill".
Second side-note: the police have a whole host of terms, colloquial and slang that can be a great thing to include in fic, which I'll link a glossary of here. It's not all UK centric but cross-country policing is a thing so that may just be a boon imho. Also the short-hand acroynmns used are useful so here's a link to the Metropolitan Police glossary of those too!
Patrolman = constable or police constable
Antenna = aerial or TV aerial
Fall (season) = autumn
Bill = banknote or specifically "tenner", "fiver", "twenny" (not "twenty"). We don't have single banknotes like a dollar bill. We have pound coins
Dimes, nickels, etc = pound coin, two-pound coin, fifty-pence, penny, two-pence, five-pence, ten-pence, twenty-pence (link here about the coin currency)
Drug store = chemist or pharmacy
Optometrist = optician
Primary care physician = GP (general practitioner) here's a link about UK medical terms for doctors etc
Side-note: here's a link about medical terminologies etc between American and UK
Social security number = national insurance number
Liquor store = off-license or, specifically, Bargain Booze™
Liquor = spirits (usually)
Store = shop
Target, Walmart, etc = honestly, it's probably gonna be Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons, ALDI or Lidl
Superstore = supermarket
Shopping cart = shopping trolley or just "trolley"
Yard-sale = car-boot/car-bootie/car-boot sale
Attorney = barrister or solicitor (solicitors you go to for legal help, barristers tend to be involved in actual court matters, like a the Crown Prosecution Service), here's a link that explains it better
Janitor = caretaker
French-fries = chips (although McDonald's French-fries are just that, French-fries)
Intersection = crossroad
Highway/freeway = motorway
Interstate = usually an A-road or a motorway, we don't really have interstates here)
Overpass = flyover
Turnpike = toll motorway
Windshield = windscreen
Trunk of a car = boot or car boot
Hood of a car = bonnet or car bonnet
Truck = lorry
Sedan = saloon car
Blowout = puncture or flat tyre
Pavement = road
Sidewalk = path
Subway = underground (like the London Underground)
Drapes = curtains (though we do use "drapes" we tend to say "curtains" more)
Pacifier = dummy or "dodo" or "dodi"
Diaper = nappie or a pull-up (if its like underwear for toddlers)
Baby crib = baby cot (though we do use "crib", we tend to say "cot" more)
Baby carriage/pushchair/stroller = pram or buggy (more specific type tho, here's a link about the differences)
Trash/garbage can = bin, dustbin, rubbish bin
Garbage/trash collector = binman/binmen
Mail = post
Mailman = postman
Mailbox = postbox
The movies = cinema or pictures
Movie = film (less common nowadays with influence of Americanisms but I still use "film" and a lot of people my age and older do too (25+)
First floor = ground floor okay, it's the ground floor because it's on ground level
Sneakers = unless they're Converse, it's probably just "trainers"
Baggage = luggage
Purse (as in the bag) = handbag, or "purse" but that tends to be the thing you put your money and cards in then put in your handbag
Vacuum cleaner = hoover or a specific brand like Henry Hoover™, which you'll find we tend to just call Henry (though I have a John Lewis hoover I got from George, ASDA that I've named 'George' and yes, I do say "I need to use George in a bit to hoover" regularly)
Sweater = jumper or, if it buttons up it's a cardigan or cardi
Closet = wardrobe
Elevator = lift
Call collect = reverse charges
Schools = we have primary/infants (11yrs)and secondary/high school (11-16yo) with some high schools have sixth-form college (16-18yo) or actual independent colleges for the same ages
College = university
Semester = term
Vacation = holiday
Kindergarten = nursey/reception
Flashlight = torch
Wrench = spanner
Backyard = garden
Cookie = biscuits
Chips = crisps (like Walkers™ or Lays™ in the States)
Pants = trousers
Cottoncandy = candyfloss
Dude = bloke/fella/mate
John Doe = John Smith
Exhausted (tired) = knackered
Cell phone = mobile
Cell data = mobile data/4G/5G
Bathroom/restroom = loo/toilet (informal term "bog")
Thanks = cheers
Soccer = football
Y'all = "you lot"
Fuck off/hit the road/go away = bugger off
Some slang phrases too
Bits and bobs = stuff, usually random
Take the mick/mickey = making fun of someone or over-exaggerating
Bob's your uncle = there you go, basically
Bog standard = typical, run of the mill kind of deal
Gutted = feel upset, disappointed
Dull as dishwater = basically really, really fuckin boring
Chinwag = basically "shooting the breeze" or just having a talk/chat
.
If you have any others that you think of or want added, reblog and add em! Tags too if you'd prefer but reblogs would be easier ☺️

It seems to me that much of the misery we call and treat as depression today could be understood as melancholia. We may be experiencing a sense of melancholia in response to what we have lost in terms of the conversation surrounding our inner lives. Run by the pharmaceutical industry and insurance companies, most mental health treatment in the U.S. consists of short sessions of often short-term, often cognitive therapy and medication with the precise goal of returning the patient to efficient productivity. We have lost holistic treatment, and instead focus on managing the patient’s symptoms rather than finding their causes. [...] These messages that we are unfit, that our symptoms need to be eradicated rather than listened to, inform our emotional and psychic life — they contribute to our depression.

Why not make this because I'm just a filthy commie.
My thoughts on Disability (getting paid because you can't hold down a job due to your disability).
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
It should at least be minimum wage. (And minimum wage should cover average cost of living in that region.)
Housing, electricity, and plumbing should just be covered. Also accessible transportation.
Medical costs should be covered. 100%
It should supplement food (and restrictions shouldn't be so limiting to the point where people with food allergies can't eat)
You should not lose any amount of your disability just because you make a little income (if you can't make enough to live off of or hold down a full time job due to your disability, you should qualify)
Marriage should have zero impact on your disability.
You should be allowed to own a home (why the fuck can't you own a home? That's dumb shit.)
It should cover any changes that you need to make to your home to make it accessible.
If you rent a place and you suddenly get a short term disability (like cancer). Your apartment should be covered until you recover.
If you rent a place and you suddenly get hit with a long term disability (like long covid or certain types of cancer) and you have to be moved (like if you're renting a condo for $1million a month. It's a bit of an exaggeration but it gets the point across for its reasonable to not expect the government to cover that). Then moving costs should be covered.
Before the capitalists (derogatory) come in my comments "You're just mad because you're too dumb to work so you want free shit." (Because they always do when I post a commie take).
I am disabled, and I have a full time job that pays me quite well (and is very accommodating to my disability). I just don't think people whose disability are more limiting than mine should suffer. Especially because every single disabled person knows that stress exacerbates symptoms.
Like the stress of being forced to live off what is the equivalent $2/hr for full time work, being forced to find a living space that covers that, and trying to find food you're allowed to eat on supplemented income with dietary restrictions (because most disabled people have to eat what most people consider "unhealthy" to manage our disability).
Before capitalists (derogatory) say "Your disability doesn't make you eat unhealthy food". You just want an excuse to eat junk food. People with cystic fibrosis often require calorie counts similar to Olympic athletes because they can't digest food right. People with POTS often require ridiculous sodium intakes to help manage the symptoms of low blood pressure. And people with migraines often need high carb "junk foods" to help manage the low blood flow that comes with a migraine flare-up.
The disabled body is fucking WEIRD and what's healthy to most people isn't necessarily healthy to us, and we've found our ridiculous ways of eating through trial and error to find out what best helps us function. If you don't live in our body, you can't tell us what's good for us.

Insurance fucking sucks please help me :)
Hey y'all, I've got some word back about some costs that my insurance is not willing to cover, and I'm looking for some help. I'm a disabled woman who recently injured myself in the exact spot I was already disabled (my spine) and my quality of life has dramatically lowered. I'm trying to buy three things that will greatly improve my quality of life; - An orthopedic support pillow set: $160 - A shower chair: $50 - A bed table: $40 Aside from these I'm also flat broke, and need help buying food and paying medical bills until the next short term disability payment from work hits. Those payments are 50% of what I would be regularly making, so I've been really struggling paying for everything I need. I've completely forgone spending on things that are fun. With that said, I don't think $250 to help with bills is asking too much on top of the costs of the medical equipment I'm trying to get, but literally anything will help right now. Thank you all again for the help, I know these items will dramatically improve my quality of life, and that will (hopefully) help me get somewhat stable again in the future. C: $cutefriend
V: Vivi-Section
$0/$500 If this post has become non-rebloggable, it means I've met my goal. Please only donate if you're able to, and please help reblog this if you can't. Thank you! 💚

A Step by Step Guide to Losing Your D**k
I recently wrote a series of messages to my aunt talking about all the steps I need to do to get bottom surgery, a penile inversion vaginoplasty at Mt. Sinai, in the next year or two. Its a long list. And everytime I added something she had a sort of “wow thats rough” reaction, but to me its just the to do list. So I decided to write them all out.
Start transition DONE
Most insurance companies and surgeons require you to have socially transitioned and have done HRT for at least 1 year at the time of operation
For social transition, this was March of 2024
For HRT it will be January of 2025
Get a referral to a surgeon (I am here)
In my case, Mt. Sinai in Manhattan
My Doctor referred me, but Mt. Sinai takes self referrals
Start laser hair removal
Book a consultation (I am here)
Go to laser frequently enough to satisfy surgeon
Convince Mom and Dad to help out DONE
Get 2 letters
Social Worker (1)
PCP's Office
Social Worker (2)
Mt. Sinai
Get a gender affirmation loan through the local credit union
Work two weeks so I can take in pay stubs
Get a letter from anybody (probably my HRT prescriber
Meet with representative and either open a line of credit or take out a loan
Consultation with Mt. Sinai’s team
Wait 3-6 months (I’m here)
Bring letters
My insurance only requires 2, less than Mt. Sinai thinks insurance will need, and Mt. Sinai provides 1 of them. Meaning the other is through IHS Behavioral
Schedule Social Work pre surgical consult appt
Schedule Mental Health and Medical Clearance with Registrar
Go to NYC for 1-2 nights, maybe for each, hopefully just once
Maybe also for Social Work thing
Consult with Surgeon
Wait until I’ve worked about 12 months to get short term disability
Probably summer (ASAP) and when Mom has time off
Do logistics
Book an airbnb, hotel, etc for recovery
Starting a few days after OR date and lasting a little over a month
Within a 90 minute drive of Mt. Sinai
Rural enough that Mom is comfortable to help and can go home if someone else shows up
Probably New Jersey, maybe Hudson Valley
Has at least 1, preferably 2, separate bedrooms
Has 2 beds
Has ADA accessible entry
Has a kitchen
Has a full bath, preferably and a half
Has internet and preferably a TV
Lodging for Mom + Dad/care team while I’m in OR
Probably 5-7 days
Preferably with a 1-2 day buffer period before OR date (included in the 7 day estimate) so I can enjoy the city
Either within a short walk from Mt. Sinai or on the same subway line as Mt. Sinai
RW, 1, or ACE
Someone to help me get from recovery location to Mt. Sinai while not in NYC
Develop and get list of items needed for recovery
Dilator
Pads
Gowns/loose clothing
Comfort food
Coordinate missing 8-9 weeks of work
Take care with who knows what before I leave
Inform HR, department manager, and work friends whats up
Get cleared for surgery and get an OR date
Probably a 6-12 month date from clearance
Get pre clearance testing through PCP or a lab in hometown
Go to NYC for that if need be
Week Before Surgery
No alcohol, no aspirin, NSAIDs, herbal supplements, or fish oil
Consult for other non aspirin blood thinners (which I am not on)
No alcohol for 3 weeks after as well
Tylenol/Acetaminophen is okay
Go downstate
See friends from NYC?
Bring Mom/Dad?
Do something fun in Manhattan
Get a COVID test
Take an anti-bacterial bath
Day before surgery
Breakfast before 9am
Last meal
Drink Golytely bowel solution around noon
Chemically induced diarrhea
Clear fluids only after golytely
(includes coffee, tea, water, broth, some juices)
Nothing goes in the stomach after midnight
Some medication okay with a sip of water
HRT???
Get surgery (a penile inversion vaginoplasty)
1 to 1+½ days
I’ve heard of as long as three
3-5 day hospital stay
Mom and Dad probably stay in Manhattan then
Go to recovery location
Drive with seat reclined
Stay for 4 weeks, pretty much bedridden
Go to follow ups
Dilate
Go home
Continue recovery for another 2-4 weeks at home
Follow up with PCP
Return to life

Hey, I'm a lawyer and transmasc, and I wanted to give a thought on your stockpile posts.
You're right in that they're not going to outlaw HRT - more cis people take HRT than trans people by far. What the feds are going to do under the new administration is roll back federal protections against discirimination for sexuality/gender, which won't change much for most of us - when the feds roll back those protections, that leaves room for states to fill those gaps. So I encourage young trans people to become involved in local politics, that will have the greatest impact on quality of life.
I don't think it's worth telling people to stockpile something like HRT when nothing has happened yet. It scares people, and honestly, there isn't much to be scared about. In the grand scheme of things, life is not going to change much for a lot of us.
I both agree and disagree with this.
Yeah, it's not gonna change for a lot of us. There will be little to no permanent bans or consequences.
But you should know better than me that this wasn't because the admin didn't try. It was because people fought. And oftentimes, whole those fights were being won, there were a whole lot of confused government agencies that didn't quite know what to do.
Remember the travel bans? Overturned in the end because of the work of the ACLU, of course. But people were still illegally detained in airports in the meantime.
What happens in between the times those federal protections for trans people are rolled back, and state regulations take over? Where's the guarantee of state regulations taking over? What happens if the FDA is gutted, or insurance loses oversight, or the supply side of medication is restricted?
None of these situations result in a complete loss in HRT access. But they do result in more logistical complications obtaining it. I have ADHD, this has already happened before with stimulants- political and logistical whims causing shortages.
The biggest thing that Trump round 1 left behind wasn't specific bans, laws or persecution. It was disorganized chaos. Federal organizations gutted, regulatory agencies that received
As I've stated many, many times. I'm not telling people to prep the rest of their lives on HRT via doomsday level stockpiling. I'm telling them to have a couple extra doses to smoothen things out if something in the short term happens.
As for scaring people... They're already scared. I hope what I'm doing is telling people that they can do something about it.

Finally, a masking initiative I can support. I’m not talking about the misdirected efforts of emerging mask bans, one the latest in my home state of Kentucky. Instead, we need to emulate the NIH, which, on November 4, initiated a masking requirement at all National Institutes of Health (NIH) patient care areas. Our nation needs to come to grips with the fact that the pandemic is NOT over; the virus is very dangerous and poses risks to everyone. NIH is masking up, and so should we.
COVID-19 and long COVID are not old people’s diseases. Recent studies paint a bleak picture of long COVID and its effect on adults and children. The Naval Medical Research Command reported that almost 25% of studied Marines, most of whom had asymptomatic or mild acute COVID-19, “reported physical, cognitive, or psychiatric long-term sequelae of (COVID-19) infection.”
The economic impact is profound. Public health reports from Australia estimated that long COVID has caused a 0.5% loss in GDP. In New Zealand, a country of 5.7 million people, it is estimated the loss is 1.23 billion US dollars per year. The best study from the United States is from 2022 by the Brookings Institute that estimated 2 to 4 million individuals in the United States are not working because of long COVID. Since then, we have essentially handled this problem by not counting. However, the health care sector has been hit especially hard. A recent study from the United Kingdom found 33% of healthcare workers suffer from long COVID.
Most disturbing is the lasting brain damage from the virus, causing a decrease in cognition and executive function, damage resulting in poor judgment, and risky behavior. I seldom see anyone wearing a mask, and too few are up to date with their COVID-19 boosters. We are ignoring the pandemic and nonchalantly spreading the virus.
This phenomenon is occurring nationally. Recently, the American Automobile Association reported a spike in risky behavior associated with the pandemic, behavior manifested by an increase in speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and a decrease in seatbelt use. And a study in the Journal of Neurology found those who have had COVID-19 have higher rates of auto accidents.
Patients who have experienced COVID-19 with changes in their sense of smell are at an increased risk of developing “behavioral, functional and structural brain alterations” in the portion of the brain that controls emotion. COVID-19 has been found to diminish executive function in over half of patients with cognitive complaints, such as brain fog, memory loss, and lower I.Q. In Sweden, the insurance company, IF, found that almost a third of young adults have “brain fog”. In the Netherlands, there has been a 40% increase in adults seeking medical care for cognitive difficulties.
One only needs to look at what is happening in our communities and around the world to realize that people have a short fuse, and societies have become powder kegs of confrontations and violence.
SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can also undergo transformation, allowing it to better infect the brain. Recently, Jacob Class and colleagues in Nature Microbiology demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 can lose its furin cleavage site, which is responsible for cellular entry (using the ACE2/TMPRSS2 receptor). This adaptation is hypothesized to optimize the virus’s ability to infect the brain using an alternate cellular entry pathway (Astrocytes or brain cells do not have observable ACE2 receptors).
Evolutionary pressure may be selected for viral mutations that allow SARS-CoV-2 to infect the brain, specifically the frontal lobes. In at least some individuals, this damage would increase risky and confrontational behavior, promoting the spread of this virus. This process would then repeat itself in the newly infected, further spreading the virus. This is not a pathogen to be taken lightly.
In Kentucky, we could possibly be seeing this scenario play out. A mask ban enacted in public venues will increase viral spread. Even outdoors, if you are within 6 feet of an infected person, large droplet spread can easily occur. Any proposed or enacted mask ban is anti-public health and will result in needless cases of long COVID, death, and disability. It will adversely impact our economy and the mental health of our citizens.
We must break this cycle of infections and disability. Clean indoor air, the wearing of N95 masks in public places, and vaccinations are keys to preventing new cases of acute COVID-19 and long COVID.

apparently this is the year for this...
Please Help Us Out With Bills
Currently, I'm virtually unemployed due to health issues and my employer all but refuses to give me short term disability pay because I don't have a diagnosis yet. I'm doing DoorDash as much as I can, which brings in ~$150 a week if that. It leaves my roommate, @kitthekazoo, to cover most of the mutual bills - like rent - virtually on her own. But that does mean she can't pay her own bills (like car and insurance) after paying the second half of our rent this month.
Like I said, I'm doing DoorDash around doctor's appointments and other activities, like school (which is paid for by my employer, who I still technically work for, I'm just on an extended medical leave - it's excused time off, but I don't get paid at all), but that doesn't bring in much. My checking account (where my DD money goes) is negative almost $400 because things keep taking out and every single one of those charges also incurs an insufficient funds fee of $31.
I would need ~$750 just to get positive enough to pay Kit back for my half of this rent payment. Plus I have my own bills to pay - car insurance, credit cards I'm desperately trying to catch up with the payments on, gas so I can keep doing DD, etc.
I know it's a lofty goal, but getting $1k by the end of the month will keep us sane and housed while I navigate my medical issues. Hopefully, after we run a few tests next week, they'll have a better idea of what's going on and when I'll be able to go back to work, and these money issues won't keep coming up...
I'll link my accounts below, including my etsy where you can buy some crochet projects from me if you want something in return for your donation! Or feel free to message me here or on etsy if you want something made that isn't listed in my shop.
Thank you in advance for any little bit, even if you can just reblog to spread the word. 💜

hey, wifey! in your dr pets post you mentioned the raptors are in your law and order dr too. i was wondering how did you incorporate the raptors into your dr?
i love you btw <333333
I love you more btw <3333333333
So umm incorporating the raptors into my DR seems far more complicated than it actually is. And because I'm a certified yapper, this may be long lmao.
So I joined the Navy when I was 17 (I graduated at 16 with a bachelor's in animal behaviors). I was then placed in an advanced unit called The ARCs. It was there I met Owen Grady who became my partner. We were sent on short-term missions, so we had other jobs for when we weren't on these missions. Owen and I were involved in animal research (I also got my medical degree during this time).
Anyway, I'm now 28 and have been on SVU for 2.5 years when my Dad gets sick. And it goes downhill fast. It becomes abundantly clear that he nor I have the money for his cutting-edge treatments on a cop salary, especially as a single mother. I had gotten a job offer involving "Jurassic World" and thought it was spam bc, why would they offer me of all people a job (being a survivor of the events of Jurassic Park). I was talking to Owen about it and he said "I got a similar offer. I'm pretty sure it's real." I did some research and it is very much real, and they were offering me and Owen a job researching raptors in assistance with the military.
But the key point... the pay was astronomical. It would easily cover my father's medical bills, and allow me to save up money to buy me and my son a home. They offered to keep paying my rent back in NY, so my son and I didn't have to find storage for all our items. The benefits were also pretty good. Free daycare, obviously they had to have decent medical insurance if we were working with raptors.
So yeah, that's how I got the raptors, my babies.

- actually M already gave advice, call hospital pharmacies. with what energy
feed autism:
- outfits 2024
- outfit spreadsheet?? meh
- nutrition spreadsheet
food:
- make a meal plan for lowest cost highest nutrition no-buy meals with current pantry supplies only. you have a lot of dried beans and some cans and frozen veg to last a few days and frozen blueberries and a thing of tofu and two carrots and a bit of dried fruit and some pumpkin puree and a bunch of nuts and three kinds of flours and oats; probably you can, like, live for a few days without having to buy groceries. but please do go to a food bank/free grocery store/etc. get canned tomatoes and something with vitamin C

- hem blue pants so you can fucking. wear them in town in winter lmao
- get rid of your useless polluted yarn please holy fucking shit, maybe someone else will want it, you don't. or try to clean it. but it doesn't need to be in your house if you are not going to fucking use it.
* i feel like i should be clear that i'm pretty fine, financially, as long as i keep working! i'm just. deeply terrified of having less than [set number] of dollars in my savings at any point and also of having to, like, actually pay off my loans. also i lost track of interest in forbearance like an idiot and am. afearéd
* ETA1: also my part time job is tied to the school year so i will need to either a) do more freelancing or b) get a second part time job so i don't starve this summer. and if my life works the way i've wanted it to and i need to move again, i will...not be able to afford the good version of that! so a second job/more income would be REALLY REALLY HELPFUL so that i DON'T FUCKING DIE. ...not that i'm going to. just. Scary!!!
* i am inches from going "i am never going to grad school, i am simply going to get a stable full time job ASAP and never leave even if it kills me" but like. also. i have met me
life is made up of so many small moments. i spent almost an hour talking to my mom mostly about my students and my job and how much i care about what i'm doing. i ate decent food today, albeit at weird hours. i'm so loved. i really hope the money works out okay. i'm gonna try to make it work out.
making lists helps to increase the chances of things working out, you've heard. good luck. i love you. go to bed. good night
