Dear Traveler, Shorefest was awesome! We got to play on bounce houses. It was like we were on "Wipeout" and it was awesome! There was an obstacle course, a soccer game, and a caricature artist...and it was free! The raffle tickets, the shirts, and petting kittens were all free! Usually this takes place down by the water in Chestertown but this year it was rainy so the SEB decided to move it to the JFC. Hope you can enjoy Shorefest next year!

Looking into the Future!
Hey Goslings!
There is a lot going on this semester. Saturday is Birthday Ball, which is something I definitely am looking forward to. I have my dress picked out and am ready to rock! Only three days left!
Tumblr media
Other than Birthday Ball, I am very excited to be initiated into Alpha Chi Omega. The journey has been amazing so far, and I just wanted to be a full time member already. I am excited for all that is coming for me with being in the sorority, this is something I never thought I would try but I am loving in!
I am also looking forward to Shorefest, which is an event that happens later in the year where the green turns into a fair!
War on the Shore, which is the huge lacrosse game between Salisbury and WAC will be a lot of fun too.
Some more personal things I am looking forward to are getting some answers. As of now, I am very unclear with what I am doing over the summer. I applied for an Explore Internship, a local naturalist position, and a scholarship to go to Archaeology Field School. I will not know what I am doing until Mid March, which as you might imagine is VERY nerve wracking. I just want to plan things out and begin to get excited for the summer I have ahead of me! It will be a lot of work, but I know I will learn a lot and have a lot of fun with it.
Tumblr media
Another update, I chose to go a new path. Since I began working for the Elm, I was able to revisit my love for journalism. I decided to pick up a Journalism, Editing and Publishing Minor which I am very excited to be doing. Hopefully, I can start that next semester!

Looking Forward
Some things that I’m looking forward to this semester:
- The Eastern Psychological Association Conference in NYC, which I will be presenting at! - Spending spring break in California - The April SEB trip to see the cherry blossoms in DC - War on the Shore (which is finally back at WAC)! - Shorefest – since it’s held on Reading Day, there’s no class!
Until next time!

My Goals for this semester
The spring semester is always a little more hectic because the amount of events is the same, if not higher, in a shorter amount of time. So here are my goals for this busy semester:
1. GPA of 3.9 or above
No matter how hectic the semester can be, grades always come first. With 6 classes including Data Analysis, Algorithms, International Trade, and American Musical Theatre, I will need to keep on my studies before I worry about anything else.
2. Finish Rush season strong
If you did not know, I am the Rush chairman for the Kappa Sigma Chapter on campus. I am in charge of finding new people to join our fraternity, keeping it alive and healthy. We have gotten 11 new members as of right now, but my ultimate goal is 15 new members.
3. A Great Performance in Godspell
I am also currently in the Music Department's production of Godspell as Jesus. The show is going well, but it's getting into crunch time. I am almost memorized on my lines, but I have to work on my Hebrew for the Last Supper scene. The show is looking great, and a lot of people on campus are excited about it.
4. Great WACappella Spring Concert
I am ALSO the Vice-President of Music for WACappella. We are in the middle of learning new songs (two of which I have yet to arrange and need to do). I am excited about our setlist, which you can hear here.
5. Have Great Times With Friends
Even though I am very busy, I still want to find time to relax and have fun with friends. Between Birthday Ball, War on the Shore, Shorefest, and the Kappa Sigma Formal, there are a lot of fun events that I want to take advantage of with friends.
My song selection for today is “Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves.

One of my favorite things to do here at WAC is spend time with all the amazing people who make my time in and out of class a blast! Sometimes it's great to go for a walk and take some pictures of out beautiful campus or get a closeup of a campus squirrel. Regardless of how you spend your free time at WAC there's always something very relaxing to do, not to mention all the other amazing activities that go on around this time of year like the Color run that EROS put on this weekend or shorefest that is coming up! Shorefest is an awesome celebration every spring with tons of activities, games, prizes and food, it's an awesome time of year with so much fun just before finals!

Bio
"Andrew Phelan has a sleeper of a voice-the kind that can lull one moment, and knock you back with its power the next" - Sarah Fawcet, Red On Black Music.
Andrew left the Blue Mountains of Australia in 2011, and not knowing more than a handful of people in North America, landed in Los Angeles with a backpack and not much else.
In 2012, after some detouring through Austin, Chicago, and Portland, Andrew paused in Vancouver to form Folk Rock band The River and The Road. Quickly recording their debut album, the band eventually toured Canada 6 times over, played multiple high-profile festivals (Squamish Valley Music Festival, Vancouver Island Music Festival, Tall Tree Festival, Toronto Urban Roots Festival), and opened for artists such as Shakey Graves, Arkells, and Sam Roberts.
In 2015, The River and The Road were nominated for breakthrough album of the year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards for their sophomore release, Headlights.
Since then, Andrew has continued performing solo and with a trio in Australia, Japan, and Canada, with notable recent performances including Vancouver's Shorefest, and John Paul White (ex Civil Wars) solo at the Fox Cabaret.
