Stepping away from the school briefly, how are the local police doing? I'm guessing with all the psychotic breakdowns, Dojima and his new partner are having a rough time. Do they work for the SIU, or are they more street level?

(Dojima and Adachi are more street level but they have connections to the SIU. Dojima was friends with the Niijima’s father while he was still alive and now he tries to keep an eye on them. They occasionally meet to exchange info on particularly tricky cases.)

Thinking about Yaldaobath and Joker, and why Yaldabaoth is being helpful. Since I don't know whether all the Heart Stealing helped his plan all that much. If Ren had walked away, or died in the first dungeon, Yaldi's plans would have continued. It kind of feels like Yaldabaoth was trying to convince Ren? In a way, for all the talk of rebels and thieves, the Phantom Thieves' actions somewhat mirror Yaldabaoth. Most confidant links end up needing Ren overriding free will... (more)

Even when Ren is actively going down to find out Yaldabaoth himself, and find who's behind it all, Yaldabaoth was cheerfully supporting them, ordering/allowing Justine and Caroline to give them endless amounts of energy to make sure they make it. Not to mention that he is a confidant himself, suggesting there is an actual emotional investment. So it kind of feels that Yaldabaoth spent most of the game trying to convince Ren he was righteous, even if that meant strengthening him.

I think Yaldabaoth was trying to make a point to Igor (and, by extension, Philemon); it ties into my theory that the evil deities we see are all indirect incarnations of Nyarlathotep’s will, which would make this an extention of Philemon’s and Nyarlathotep’s old wager: 

Yaldabaoth was trying to proof that humanity cannot be enlightened, that they need to be controlled, strive for being controlled, and that all desire for freedom will eventually lead back into an escape into the safety of Yaldabaoth’s control. Read like that, Yaldabaoth’s actions make a lot of sense: He’s creating conditions which appear “fair”, so he can make his point sufficiently. As for the Social Link, Ren *was* important to him as a proxy for Igor’s side during the wager, so they did end up having a complex relationship. That’s what that Social Link stands for, I feel. So yes, he was trying to convince Ren too. After all, Ren was Igor’s (and Philemon’s) proxy in the wager, whether he realized so or not.

So, you know Damien's broken horn. I heard it from someone who knows these things. He was banging a gargoyle at the time, and one night after some drinks and foreplay and the word 'horny', the idea came up to use Damien's horns to fuck the gargoyle. And you know how Damien is. That’s sooo totally not what happened and Damien knows it. But who was he to destroy a perfectly good rumor? Fucking Gargoyles was pretty metal since it was like fucking a boulder. Aha, no, so lore wise shoggoth was always a strange cat, like Lydia. When she was born, shoggoth was always interested by ghosts, rather than scared of them like how animals typically are. She seemed to focus on the sadness ghosts held, and became determined to fix that sadness, as is a cats job. She doesn’t care if people have a pulse or a body, she will make you happy.

As for the kitty powers that defeated Juno, that came from the names. Names are powerful things. They can summon demons, give you control over someone, combine souls, real powerful stuff, as is commonplace of names. Like, the name Beef will forever hold big power now because a demon named a kitten that. Names are weird. Since BJ and Lydia named shoggoth, well, Shoggoth, that gave her the powers of the Shoggoth family, and power over holders of the name shoggoth, meaning Juno, Abdul, and BJ. And since shoggoth was pregnant during the time, that power rubbed off on her kittens too, so they had that going before they were born. The names Circe and Azazel also have power, since they’re based off demons and powerful beings. So patchie and beef aren’t as strange as Circe and azazel in some aspects because they were “only” named by Beej and the family, lol, but they all are still strange and unusual cats.

So that’s the secret lore stuff, a lil bit of cats being weird cats, and having names with a lot of punch behind them given to the kitties by a demon.

So, rewatching some Persona 4 stuff. If I have it right, Adachi's little game was very much his own construction, without any prompting from Izanami or Ameno Sagiri. And it's only because of his game that 'Show up on Midnight Channel' = 'Get thrown into the TV' and for Saki and Yamano it was just luck that he threw them in himself after they showed up there. Does that mean that if Adachi had't gotten his murderous self on, there'd be no investigatiing tv land, and thus the world would be doomed?

Careful! You’re falling into the trap of not taking what Adachi said while he was on his lunatic ravings before his boss fight with a grain of salt.

There’s a strong evidence in the game to suggest that *nothing* about the serial kidnapping becoming serial was actually anyone’s “construction”. Rather, it was a series of people in bad mental states making bad life decisions, driving a bad situation further and further off the rails. If you look into the in-game data of the cutscenes of the figure in the fog (you know, the ones that briefly flash whenever you saved someone?), it’s clear as day that what those scenes show is actually Adachi in a raincoat, searching for dead bodies and surprised that he’s not finding anything, completely disproving his claim that he “planned” for the events of the plot to turn into the sort of cat-and-mouse game is became. Rather, Adachi seems to have been scared shitless of being caught for his manslaughter of Yamano and murder of Saki, so he tried to get Namatame to kill someone so he could pin all three murders on him and get that case out of his sight. The fact that being terrified like this actually *thrilled* him to an extent was nothing but a side-effect. Adachi was never in control during any of it, he was just flailing about like a spoiled brat. 

Why am I elaborating on this? Because it’s relevant to what Izanami was really trying to do with her “test”, which is what answers your question: Izanami *intentionally* gave Persona abilities to two people of unstable, unhealthy mindsets (Adachi and Namatame, representing Emptiness and Despair) and one person with a stable mindset (Yu, representing Hope) in order to test what three different kinds of people would do if given the power to access Inaba’s cultural unconscious world and whether they’d abuse that worlds’ special properties or not, so she could then judge humanity’s base desires based on the outcome. 

In other words, there was no way nothing would have happened, because she intentionally gave those powers to two people who were not mentally equipped to responsibly handle that power! Something was bound to go wrong!

Honestly, the outcome could have been different - imagine, for example, Adachi accidentally falling into the TV world while drunk and running away from Teddie terrified for two days before finally getting back out, too traumatized to even think about doing anything other but lie in bed and moan for a week - but honestly, what Adachi ended up doing was probably very much what Izanami was going for. If humanity didn’t prove itself “wanting for assimilation” that very year, she’d just have kept testing people every few years, until finally, somebody pulled an Adachi.

im hesitantly taking over the care of shogs plants while hes dormant (if anyone makes plant jokes ill die but its fair i guess) and its... going alright?? inky is helping me with the routine but we repotted a cherry tomato plant and im actually managing to nurse shogs dying tomato plant back to health! i had to cut off the majority of the plant though since it was all damaged and dead so its more a small shrub now than a plant but thats fine since i gotta find some stakes anyway. i dont think shog would mind since he thought it was dead anyway so

also i kinda wanna start a worm farm. i want some slimy boys and itd have the added benefit of not having to use the rotbox soil for fertiliser since iiiii dont wanna touch that stuff. not really my thing
