Big Mouth. 빅마우스. 7.6/10
I would recommend this drama. I would rewatch this drama.
Our beloved, Yu Cho Hui is here. Nice seeing Ki Eun Yoo as young Doha. Lol Prison Playbook's Professor Myung now a guard. Kwak Dong Yeon being another sub since Vincenzo. I'm here for it. Lmaoo at the Start Up guys. The actor Kim Dong Won is cute.
Hyun Ju Hee is so pretty. Doha's fight scene in the shower was hot. Yoona a snack at Chairman Park's birthday.
That totoro cooking meal is cute. Korea's transportation cards are so cute.
Changho became so quickly good at fighting and being in the prison. It transitioned so quickly for him. Even seeing how innocent he was before, it's crazy to see the quick transition to him being a boss.
Jae Ho interacting with Hye Jin boils my blood. Seeing her deal with it internally has me scared for her.
If you bury all that gold in cement, how do you get it back?
Lmao at dad asking the loan shark people why they're coming in with their shoes on.
Changho is unnecessarily pompous in the wrong moments in the beginning. Read the room.
Vincenzo vibes.
Not this killer beating up my Yoona.
Poor Hye Jin. Poor Ju Hee when she sees how dirty the company is. Poor Yoona after thinking Changho died. None of the wives deserve any of this, even Ashley.
Teared at Kwanghyun's death and Jerry's supposed one. Teared at Miho revealing her diagnosis.
I love the strong romance bw Miho and Changho. Their relationship really adds to the storyline rather than seeming like a side thing. I love how stalwart Miho is in how she wants to support, love, and believe.
I found it heart-warming when they talked about him not being as good looking as her ex. Get me a husband like Chang Ho who protects and loves me so unwaveringly. Also get a wife like Miho, who is soo capable and boss.
I think it's cute that Chang Ho got clean and ready when he heard Miho was visiting.
What kind of fucking cute ass first meet bw Changho and Miho. Miho is such a wonderful person.
I love the pool lookout view thing that Doha and Ju Hee swam in. I love the home that Hye Jin stays in next to the beach. I like the painting in Hyun Ju Hee's office. I love how in cahoots Miho and Doha are. We are on the same boat. I love how tall Lee Jong Suk is. He towers over the villains.
Memorable Quotes: "나는 두려움이 없다." "거짓을 숨기는 가장 완벽한 곳이 어딘줄 알아? 진실." "내가 뭐 또 잘못어?"

Why I Will Never Wear Performance Enhancing Shoes
I stayed up half the night thinking about it, and then something occurred to me, and I fell into a deep, peaceful sleep, and haven’t thought about it since. You know what occurred to me?… (Robin Williams) …I don’t need to wear them. I don’t need to join in. I don’t need to worry about how much is down to me, and how much is down to the them. Of course, I’m talking about shoes. So here it is, ladies and gentlemen:
I will never wear performance enhancing shoes.
This is not a lecture, nor a debate, just a personal decision. Unless you were living under a rock, you will have heard that last Saturday, Kipchoge ran a sub 2 hour marathon. Then, on the Sunday, Kosgei smashed Paula Radcliffe’s marathon World Record. The internet and press is on fire with stories about their shoes; Nike 4%, Next %, Alphafly, and any other model of shoe which are proven to significantly improve a runner’s performance. They contain a carbon fibre footplate and Pebax cushioning, which combine to dramatically improve running efficiency. Some say this seismic shift is a bad thing, and others say it is inevitable. There have been comparisons made with cycling, Formula 1, and any amount of other sports, where technological advances are expected and embraced. Well, running is better than all those sports. Running is so great it isn’t even a sport. It is our number 1 survival mechanism, it is our number 1 hunting mechanism, it is the thing we are best at, better than every other mammal on the planet. It is the thing we have been doing for a million years. It is also, by far, the biggest mass participation sport in the world.
When I strip it right back, further and further, peel off every layer till I get to the very soul of it, running comes down to me versus me. Every run I have ever done, every race I have ever run, every second, was 100% me. Not 95%, not even 96%. When I next run a performance I am proud of, I want all the glory, I don’t want to share it with my enormous, expensive shoes. We all wear shoes now, whereas before we were all barefoot, so any shoe could be seen as performance enhancing. We have been wearing shoes for thousands of years, they kept our feet warm as we migrated into the northern hemisphere, they protect our skin from tarmac and glass etc, and they are now a firmly ingrained part of our socially demanded dress code. When I run, I want to stay as close as possible to that original model. I can’t go back to being a hunter gatherer on the savanna, barefoot. Wearing shoes is a necessary part of life. But I still want to stay as close to unaided human running as possible. Shoes haven’t improved performance significantly for 50 years, infact, there is evidence to say that since they evolved from the simple plimsoll, they have just caused more injuries. Until the Nike 4% came along in 2017, your choice of shoe was more to do with comfort, feel, longevity, style and brand preference. The performance benefits had never been proven above 1%, which is inside the margin for error. With these new shoes, comes a new record book, a clean slate. That’s not something I can get on board with. I want to continue running against every previous generation, and every previous me. I don’t want an asterix beside my next performance.
I have a kit deal with On; their ‘clouds’ give a soft landing and firm push off, which I love cos its feels a bit like running barefoot on savanna, and they are also really nice to look at. I have refused to wear Nike shoes since I was 15 years old. I don’t agree with their ethics. Again, not a lecture, or discussion, just a personal decision. When I left my job in Victory School, the pupils clubbed together to buy me a pair of running shoes. They were Nikes. I thanked the kids profusely, went home, and binned them. Some in the running community are happy to let the relevant authorities make the decisions on Performance Enhancing Shoes, as they do with drugs and substances. If the powers that be condone these shoes, then who are we to argue? The IAAF (now rebranded ‘World Athletics’) is run by Seb Coe. Lord Coe was on Nike payroll for 38 years, was paid £100,000 a year as their Ambassador, and only gave up the paycheck when he was forced to admit the conflict of interest. Coe has just presided over the worst World Championships in athletics history, Doha. Where they confiscate migrant passports and work thousands a year to their deaths under the scorching sun. Where no one turned up to watch the champs, until they started bussing those surviving migrants into the empty stands. Where the stadium had to be permanently air conditioned, and the marathon held in the middle of the night, through empty streets. Where the former president of the IAAF is to stand trial for accepting millions of dollars to stage the Championships there. Not contrite, Lord Coe wrote this defence instead, ignoring the human rights and corruptions issues, and replacing them with a threatening and arrogant diatribe, to justify the whole debacle. Nike are selling their latest Vaporfly for £240. I don’t trust Lord Coe to cut that revenue stream. The next world champs are being held in Oregon, also known as Nike Town. There was no biding process, no transparency, nothing to see here. Rumour has it, the IAAF will shortly deem legal any shoe that does not have ‘motor assistance’, thereby formally opening the flood gates for the inevitable arms race. Kipchoge’s shoe, the Alphafly, has three carbon plates and air pockets, improves efficiency by 7-8%, and could cost upwards of £1000 when released to general market.
I can see how we have got to this position. A worse than useless, corrupt governing body that is only intent in filling it’s own pockets, pro-athletes whose contract depends on winning races, and then a trickle down effect where the sub-elite, then the masses, think, well if the best guys are wearing them, I’m a fool not to. I won’t pretend I haven’t been tempted myself. I was wracking my brain thinking, maybe I could fit in one marathon next year where I do wear them. But it has just never felt right for me. I am not getting involved in this. I can already see the runners around me looking different, more springy, resilient. I don’t want to run next to a competitor having bought an advantage over him (or her). If you want to wear them, then good for you, the world will keep spinning, and we can stay friends (wanker). In all seriousness though, don’t get this the wrong way. I’m not judging anyone, life is way too short for that noise. If you are a runner, in whatever shoes, then you have my respect and admiration.
I might well get left behind; in the next few years, all the road shoes in the world might be performance enhancing. I might be the only guy feels this way, makes this decision. In which case I will become a full-time fell runner. I am excited and liberated by my choice. It’s not hurting anyone, I get to keep the thing I love just the way I like it, as pure and simple as possible. Some light reading, if you are so inclined: How Do Nike’s Vaporfly 4% Shoes Actually Work? Is it the shoes? A simple proposal for regulating footwear in road running Doha’s empty seats tell tale of corruption, warped priorities and vested interests Trading Souls for Soles Non-Running Related Highlight of the Month Totally, totally running related. My kids run their first ever race. Ras y Cob in Porthmadog. They catch the steam train to start line, then run the mile back. Jim not feeling well but soldiers on, El falls and picks herself up and sprints for the line. Thanks loads to the organisers, great event!

Etiquette Class 2 (For Juniors & Seniors) : Sunan for the Day & Night
...And Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah
We learnt the Rights of Allah and His Speech (The Qur’an). We studied the Kalimah and its conditions and today we as Muslims will InshaAllah learn about the Rights of Prophet S.A.W. without mention whom one cannot become a Muslim as He S.A.W. is a part of the Shahadah. “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah & Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah”.
Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, deserves special rights, which are due only to the final Prophet and Messenger. These rights have been enjoined upon us by Allah and are part of safeguarding the perfect religion of Islam. Unfortunately many Muslims today have become confused with regard to these rights and have innovated practices that have no basis in Islam. The Prophet himself knew that such practices would happen and warned against them, "Beware of newly invented matters [in religion, that is] for every invented matter [in religion] in a cursed innovation which leads astray." (Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood) So as Muslims we must stick to giving our Prophet, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, his rights as commanded by Allah and stay away from the innovations that either ignore these rights or take them to extremes.
OUR DUTIES TOWARDS THE PROPHET OF ALLAH S.A.W.
To believe in him
To obey him
To follow him
To love him
To respect him
To judge according to his shariah
To send salaam upon him
To stick to his sunnah and avoid innovations
The seventh right that is due to the Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, is saying the salah and salaam upon him. Allah says, "Allah sends His salah [blessings, mercy] on the Prophet and His angels too [ask Allah to bless and forgive him]. O you who believe, send your salah on him and [you should] greet him with the Islamic way of greeting [i.e. as-salamu alaikum]." [33:56]
Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, said, "Whoever blesses me once, Allah blesses him with ten salahs and ten wrong actions fall away from him and he is raised by ten degrees." And he said, "The nearest people to me on the Day of Rising will be those who have said the most salahs on me."
How to recite prayer on the Prophet:
Narrated kaab bin Ujrah, the Prophet s.a.w said, “Say:
ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMADIW WA ALA AALI MUHAMMADIN KAMAA SALLAITA ALA IBRAHIMA WA ALA AALIIBRAHIMA INNAKA HAMIDUM MAJID. ALLAHUMMA BAARIK ALA MUHAMMADIW WA ALA AALI MUHAMMADIN KAMAABAARAKTA ALA IBRAHIMA WA ALA AALI IBRAHIMA INNAKA HAMIDUM MAJID., ‘
O Allah! Send Your Mercy on Muhammad s.a.w and on the family of Muhammad s.a.w as You sent Your Mercy in Ibrahim (Abraham) and on the family of Ibrahim (Abraham), for You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious.
O Allah! Send Your Blessings on Muhammad s.a.w and on the family of Muhammad s.a.w as You sent Your Blessings in Ibrahim (Abraham) and on the family of Ibrahim (Abraham), for You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious’.”
STICKING TO HIS SUNNAH AND AVOIDING INNOVATIONS
While the Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, deserves and is due the aforementioned rights, it is also important that we don't go to extremes regarding his rights. Many Muslims today have innovated practices into the religion concerning his rights. It is indeed correct that the Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu allayhe wa salam, deserves certain rights, but to innovate practices that go against his very teachings under the guises of loving and respecting him is bid'ah and will only lead to the fire. The Prophet, sallalahu alayhe wa salah, said, "Beware of newly invented matters [in religion] for every invented matter [in religion] is a cursed innovation which leads astray."
All the rights of the Prophet S.A.W. are related to inward actions. But the Outward way of fulfilling his S.A.W.'s right is by patterning his Sunnah and sticking to it InshaAllah. If we just see the number of proved Sunnah one would never get time to think about Bidahs as SubhaanAllah there are so many Sunnahs a day.
WAKING UP
1. Wipe the effects of sleep from the face with your hands. When the Messenger of Allah (woke up, he would sit up and rub away the effects of sleep from his face with his hand.
2. Say the supplication for waking up: الحَمْـدُ لِلّهِ الّذي أَحْـيانا بَعْـدَ ما أَماتَـنا وَإليه النُّـشور ALHAMDU LILLAAHIL-LATHEE AHYANA BA’DA MAA AMAATANA WA-ILAYHIN-NUSHOOR. All praise is for Allah who gave us life after death (sleep) and to Him is the resurrection.
3. Use a SIwaak. When the Prophet (S.A.W.) woke up from the night (sleep), he used to clean his mouth with a Siwaak.

The Prophet – Peace be upon him – said: (Were it not for avoiding inflicting difficulties on my nation, I would have ordered them to use Sewak upon the performance of each prayer)Narrated by Al-Bukhari & Muslim.
The total times of using Sewak by the Muslim at the day and night is not less than (20) times. The Muslim uses Sewak:
- Upon performing the five prayers, the regular Sunnah prayers, Al-Doha (Morning) prayer, Al-Wetr Prayer.
- Upon entering the house, because the first thing performed by the Prophet – Peace be upon him – when he enters his house is using the Sewak, as narrated by Aisha – May Allah be pleased with her – in Sahih Muslim. So, every time you enter your house use Sewka in order to apply the Sunnah.
- Upon reading the Holy Quran, for changing the smell of the mouth.
- Upon waking up.
- Upon making ablution (Wudhou’).

1. Put shoes on starting with the right foot and take them off starting with the left
This Sunnah is repeated at day and night so many times; the Muslim wears and takes off his shoes to go to the toilet, go out and come back from the Masjid, work, home etc, therefore, when you wear or take off the shoes according to the Sunnah with the intention of following the example of the Prophet – Peace be upon him – you will gain a lot of good deeds.
DRESSING AND UNDRESSING
Wearing and taking off clothes happen several times at day and night for the purpose of bathing, sleeping etc.

الحمدُ للهِ الّذي كَساني هذا (الثّوب) وَرَزَقَنيه مِنْ غَـيـْرِ حَولٍ مِنّي وَلا قـوّة
ALHAMDU LILLAAHIL-LATHEE KASANEE HATHA (ATHTHAWB) WARAZAQNEEHI MIN GHAYRI HAWLIN MINNE WALA QUWWAH.

(O Allah I ask you the best out of entrance and the bestout of exit, I enter in the name of Allah and exit in the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah)
This is the way a man depends on Allah while entering or exiting, which keeps him always connected to Allah.
3-Using Sewak Muslim narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used Sewak while taking his first steps into home.
4-Say As Salam Alaikum. Supposing that a Muslim who goes for prayers in the Mosque practice these Sunnas; that would make 20 Sunnas a day.

A Muslim should say this du’aa :
بِسْمِ اللهِ ، تَوَكَّلْـتُ عَلى اللهِ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُـوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله
BISMILLAAHI TAWAKKALTU ‘AALAL-LAH, WALA HAWLA WALA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH.
‘In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.’
A Muslim goes out and returns home many times a day; for prayers, work or for whatever and every time he applies these sunnas, he gets great reward from Allah as he submits to His Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings.

ALHAMDULILLAHIL-LATHEE AT’AAMANEE HATHA WARAZQANEEHI MIN GHAYRI HAWLIN MINNEE WALA QUWWAH.
‘All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any might nor power from myself.’
From the benefits of this Dua‘a, is that: The person’s past sins will be forgiven

1. Be in a state of purity (Wudoo).
2. Sleep on our right side.
3. Place the right hand under the right cheek.
4. Dust the bed:
5. Do not sleep on the tummy.
UPON SEEING A GOOD OR A BAD DREAM
‘The righteous dream is from Allah and the bad dream is from the devil, so if anyone sees something which pleases him then he should only relate it to one whom he loves…’
Summary of what to do upon having a bad dream:
■ Spit on your left three times
Spit: A form of spitting comprising mainly of air with little spittle
■ Seek refuge in Allah from shaytan and the evil of what you saw. (Aoozbillaahi Minash shaytaanir rajeem)
■ Do not relate it to anyone
■ Turn and sleep on the opposite side to which you were sleeping on previously.
■ Get up and pray if you so desire.

TIPS FOR TESTS:
Remember the Rights of Prophet S.A.W. and how to send Salam to him S.A.W.
A Muslim should memorise all these Duas, but for the test you guys will be asked to write any of the three Duas that you have memorized after the note, that is dint know already. In simple words please memorize atleast three Duas that you dont know.
Memorize all the sunahs as just by keeping them in mind all of our simple regular actions can become Ibaadah InshaAllah.
Happy Learning... JazakAllah khair... As Salam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakaatuh :)

New Wife, New City, New Home ... And I’m Still Learning
... Learning new things about myself everyday.
I recently got married on December 30, 2016 (see two blog posts ago and refer to my Instagram account for photo spam), and moved to Doha to join my husband less than a month later, on January 20, 2017.
It’s been a roller-coaster ride.
No matter what people tell you, being a newlywed is life-changing – both in wonderful and shocking ways. And, as though it weren’t challenging enough, add to that moving to a new city in a new country all at once. In the past three weeks, I managed to furnish our entire home (from cutlery, crockery and linens, to all kinds of furniture, accessories and appliances).
It’s been crazy. Meanwhile, I’ve been trying to:
- go to as many meetings as possible to get better acquainted with the market,
- create new content for the blog and Instagram,
- discover what a f***ing induction stove is and how to use it,
- decipher my dishwasher,
- understand what a spin cycle is on a washing machine,
- find the right pillows to sleep – those of which do not involve the stench of dying duck,
- get over the fact that I’m now labeled “housewife” and that it’s not an insult,
- accept that my husband and I share a bank account,
- accept that my husband knows exactly when I’m buying shoes and how much they cost,
- detach myself from my much loved skimpy clothing,
- Control my nausea every time I prepare dinner and see the steak bleed on the grill,
- accept that I look like crap on most days because I’m too busy to wash my hair,
- accept the four kilos of Oreos and olives that I’ve gained,
And accept that for the first time in my entire life, I couldn’t be more clueless about anything.
I would like to take a minute to thank my Snapchat family and YouTube tutorials. Without you, I would have had a mental breakdown.
Jokes aside, I’m loving my new life in Doha. It’s a beautiful change of pace and I love the feeling of security and stability I have here. Also, the food is truly on another level (four kilos, hello!), and our building and neighborhood have become my new happy place that I’m so proud to call home.
What I love about Doha:
- THE FOOD!! Some of my favorites include Toro Toro, Spice Market, The Market, La Spiga, Sugar and Spice, and Eggspectation. If you live in Doha or are visiting, please do go to every single one and gain some weight with me. Thank you.
- The Qatar Airways airplanes and airport lounges – I’ve been raving about them for the past month or so, but honestly, I’m beyond impressed!!! How lavish!!
- The Pearl. So this is basically where Toufic and I live, and if it were up to me, I’d never leave the area. I’m so in love with it and all things related.
- West Bay. Skyscrapers make me happy. Urban areas make me happy. Beautiful lights at night make me happy. Sometimes, I like to squint hard enough and imagine I’m back in New York. And that makes me happy.
- The hotels. They’re more like architectural wonders. The Kempinski, St. Regis and Four Seasons top the list for me with their glorious facades and GLORIOUS architecture. So grandiose!
- The customer service. So many people may wish to disagree with me, but let me explain: I haven’t seen one person frowning since I got here. Even if you get upset at them and shout (a little), they’re still so kind and polite, you feel ashamed of yourself for being so rude. They’re full of smiles and enthusiasm, and I applaud them for that.
- The safety. When laws are well implemented and respected, this is the result. I could leave my purse in the mall for hours, and no one would steal it. I haven’t complained about potential rapists in weeks! I feel so safe all the time, and my stress levels are down thanks to that!
- Our building. Toufic is going to kill me for even mentioning this. I can even hear him saying, “you sound like such pretentious showoff.” But, I don’t care. So, our building. It’s so pretty, I’m in love! I haven’t lifted a finger since I got here (except beat my pillows, move furniture around, do the dishes, make dinner, make the bed, and hoover broken glass off the floor). Jokes aside, it’s like a hotel – from the lobby to the staff. I feel like a spoilt little turd sometimes because I have people at my beck and call doing stuff for me all the time! I’m not sure I like feeling this spoilt...but I’m not complaining at all!
- The community. Most people here are so kind, helpful, genuine, accomplished, honest, hardworking, friendly, and just absolutely lovely to be around! I haven’t felt a heavy, negative energy from anyone yet. It’s refreshing.
- THE FOOD!! (oh yeah, I already mentioned this)
- Our home. It truly is home, and I can’t imagine living any place else. I love everything about it, and it’s one of my proudest accomplishments so far…I made a home for us. IN FIVE DAYS. (I keep reminding Toufic of that. He’s getting so sick of me.)
- And last but not least, my husband. I can’t imagine sharing a life with anyone else. He’s my best friend, the highlight of my day, the most annoying person ever, but the most wonderful, generous, caring, loving, and supportive soul I’ve ever come across. I wake up everyday feeling so lucky and blessed that he chose me to walk down this path with, and just the fact that he lives in Doha makes it the most beautiful city on the planet. This is home now.
(PS. as I write this, I can smell my pillows starting to stink again and I begin to feel depressed)
So, ahem, the reason I am writing this is because I’m sure tons of you have either gone through what I’m going through, or are about to embark on a similar journey, be it getting married or moving to a country – or both! So, since this stuff doesn’t come with a warning or a manual (which it SHOULD), I’m taking the liberty of writing down a few things you ought to prepare for and some other things that could be useful to you:
1. I’m sorry I’m prioritizing this, but DO NOT purchase down pillows from IKEA. They STINK! Imagine the combination of these odors: a deadly fart; a dying, wet, filthy duck; raw, rotten fish; terribly bad breath; a badly aired chicken pen; and a rat that’s been dead for a month. So, that’s what my SIX pillows smell like. Mind you, they’re brand new, and I dedicated my ENTIRE afternoon to quench their stank – but, alas...nothing worked.
2. Buy your cabinets and storage from IKEA (if available in your country). Those, unlike the stanky pillows, are amazing and you save tons of money. Here’s how I furnished our place. I spent the first two days jumping around from one furniture store to the next. We bought the hero items that spoke to us (couch, dining table, dining chairs, bed) then bought everything else accordingly. It was literally three days of furniture shopping and two days of setting everything up. Et voila! Tip: Mix and match from as many shops as possible. We went through over 12 places.
3. Set a REALISTIC routine for yourself. There are days when you will feel down, useless, strange, nostalgic, ugly, fat, stupid, and all alone…. This is normal and fleeting. Keep reminding yourself that you’re adapting to great change and starting a new, life-defining chapter. It’s important not to give up too soon. Go easy on yourself. If you pack on the pounds, it’s normal (just hit the gym as soon as you set a proper schedule for yourself). If you’re not working, don’t sweat it. You’ll be back to work soon once you’re able to take on new responsibilities and tasks. I hate the word routine, but it’s the only way you can get through this transitional phase.
4. Remind yourself of why you’re here. And remind yourself that life owes you nothing. You need to make your life beautiful through daily efforts. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past month. Trying to make everything around me beautiful. It takes time and lots of work, but I’ll get there. And you’ll get there.
5. ACCEPT CHANGE. If you fight it, you’ll force yourself to move in an unnatural direction. If you accept it, there’s no telling what surprises life has in store for you around the next corner. Moving countries is the reason I started blogging seven years ago. It changed my life. Moving back to Beirut and turning down a job offer in NYC is the reason I met Toufic. Something beautiful and rewarding comes out of every “bad” or challenging experience. Remember that.
6. If you’re a newlywed, remember this: there are days you will hate your spouse. You will wonder why you ever got married and notice how much they’ve changed. You will question if you’re even compatible and romanticize your life at your parents’ home. Those who refuse to admit this are either lying to you or to themselves. But, I’m going out on a limb here and tell you that this will happen, and it’s okay. Breathe through it and remind yourself that you’re both adapting to a new reality, a new routine, and new habits you weren’t used to before. For instance, Toufic and I both have OCD, but in different things. We are trying to deal with our psychoses on a daily basis, and it’s getting much better.
7. If it’s your first time cooking, cleaning or home tending, remember, you weren’t born with a housewife manual built into your system. I went grocery shopping last week and had a mental breakdown. It was four hours of hell. But, I know that next time, it will be easier and more clear to me. I will eventually know exactly what to buy, what not to buy, how much to buy, and spend less time doing it. I tried cooking three times since I got here. The first time was an EPIC DISASTER. The second time was okay. The third time was phenomenal. I’m getting better every time, and seeing the smile on my husband’s face is everything.
8. There’s no “I” in “team”. I’m learning this day by day. I’m learning to start making “we” decisions instead of “me” decisions. This is the toughest part about being married. Sharing responsibilities, money, tasks, your space, your food (this is painful), and your future. Every decision you make has to go through your partner for negotiation and approval. I’m making this sound like a business proposal – but, you know what I mean….
9. Keep things private. I’m a hypocrite for saying this since so much of my life is out there, but I’m a blogger and a big part of my life is sharing my experiences with others in order to benefit and inspire you in some way. But still, Toufic refuses being featured on my Snapchat while we’re in Doha, and I (sadly) accept that. This is not what I’m referring to though. What I mean by keeping things private is, when you fight, keep it between the two of you. Don’t make it bigger by involving others. This is something sacred (and very difficult), but essential to the survival of a marriage.
10. You will gain weight. Try, as hard as you can, to control your newlywed or new city appetite. Almost everyone I know gained weight during the first year of marriage or a move. Make an effort to lose those extra pounds and stay in shape, or you’ll keep gaining more and more on a yearly basis.
And for the bonus round:
11. Things and people you once found important cease to matter in comparison to the new responsibilities you have. In my case, being outside the bubble always makes me see how small and silly it is. This time, more than ever…
Today, I’m slowly finding my balance, and gradually feeling more at home in this new city everyday. Step by step, I’m regaining my confidence to go out there and show this new world who I am and what I’ve got to offer; the confidence to be myself and trust that people will like me. I know where to go if I need something, and know who to call when the Internet isn’t working. I have a new number now, and I’m memorizing it a little better everyday. I found a detergent I love and the right temperature for the AC. I have a favorite corner at home where I like to work, and a spot in bed that makes me comfortable. When I’m thirsty at night, I know my way to the kitchen without turning on the lights. These may sound like very little things, but it’s little things like these that make you feel at home.
There is no way you’ll feel at home right away. There are days where you refuse to part of a new community and a new life. There are times where you’ll feel so alone and intimidated, you’ll cry. Remind yourself that it will pass. You will eventually make new friends, discover a new list of favorite hobbies and places to hang out. You’ll find a walking route that makes you happy. You’ll finally find the right mall and supermarket for you to shop at. Days will go by and you will realize that you’re no longer a stranger; you now belong. You will realize that you haven’t missed “home” in weeks because this is your home. These are your friends. This is your new job. Your new university. Your new life. Your new gym. You will miss your old home and life, but not the way you did before. You will realize that this is not a new chapter; this is your life.
Lebanon, you may not be home for now, but I love you always. I know there are many beautiful reasons the universe brought me here, and I can’t wait to discover them all. Meanwhile, Beirut, I’ll be seeing you sooner than you think, and often, and I’m looking forward to it. For now, stay beautiful.

XX. ━━ the breaks for cram school always feel like there are altogether too many people stuck in a crowded room. the lunch breaks are even more awful, and sometimes doha feels like he should go off set to find something to scrounge up nearby but saving money is more important than his comfort level so he always ends up staying. with a sigh, he finds himself in line for the company luncheon on set, deciding to settle somewhere outside now that the weather is getting warmer so perhaps he won't be as crowded as he would be inside the indoor set.
it seems like things are working out in his favour when, unexpectedly, a gentle brush into his elbow leaves his plate jerking in his hands which, of course, means some of it ends up on his shoes. doha has to sigh and look at the stranger, because these are of course his costume shoes and now he has to clean them by hand before the break is over. " do you mind lending me a hand? these are the shoes i was supposed to wear for the next scene." the comment is polite, but clipped, indicating his annoyance. it's another supporting cast member, one he hasn't had a scene with quite yet. " ... please." he adds, though he feels like that's going overboard in the niceties. after all, it wasn't his fault for the clumsiness.

'Athletics in an era of exciting possibilities but it also faces more questions than ever'

Watch ‘history unfold’ as Kipchoge runs marathon in under two hours
To get an idea of the challenging place athletics finds itself in right now, the media centre at Chicago’s Hilton hotel immediately after the city’s marathon on Sunday was an instructive place to be.
On a platform sat Brigid Kosgei, just minutes after running into the history books by becoming the fastest female over 26.2 miles the world has ever seen.
The Kenyan’s astonishing performance completed a momentous weekend for distance running, coming just 24 hours after compatriot Eliud Kipchoge’s historic sub two-hour effort over the same distance in Vienna.
On paper at least, both feats breathe new life into the sport, generating front-page coverage, lighting up social media, capturing the imagination and inspiring genuine awe among the general public, at a time when athletics is crying out for positive stories and new stars after the retirement of Usain Bolt.
Kipchoge’s achievement was not without controversy of course, with many seeing it partly as a marketing stunt for the benefit of Nike, whose prototype shoes the Kenyan legend wore, and a publicity coup for petrochemicals giant Ineos.
Its logo was prominent throughout, the company’s lavish funding ensuring nothing was left to chance, from the rotating pacemakers and laser-beaming support vehicle to the perfectly flat running surface.
Such artificial advantages meant Kipchoge’s milestone did not count as an official world record. Kosgei’s, meanwhile, most certainly did. Paula Radcliffe, the British woman whose 16-year-old record she obliterated, was at the finish line to congratulate her.
But on Sunday in Chicago, Kosgei could not escape questions from journalists about precisely which running shoes she had been wearing, and if they were the same as Kipchoge’s. Her performance, coming so soon after his, intensifying the mounting controversy over whether the latest technology results in too great a marginal gain, and makes comparisons with previous eras of running unfair.
And she had to reassure those present that such a performance could be trusted, given the recent spate of doping scandals involving high-profile Kenyan runners.

Kosgei smashes Radcliffe’s marathon world record
After all, Kosgei has the same agent – Federico Rosa – as a number of banned Kenyan athletes, and while there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by either of them, the association led to some awkward questions, the softly spoken world record holder insisting she was clean.
There was no sign of Mo Farah. Just two days earlier in the same room, he had angrily blamed journalists for the scrutiny he was under following the downfall of his former coach Alberto Salazar, banned two weeks ago for various doping violations, even seeming to suggest a racially motivated agenda by the media.
Neither Farah – nor any other of Salazar’s athletes – were implicated in the scandal. But many will now wonder whether the fallout affected his performance on the streets of Chicago, the slowest marathon of his career.
If so, perhaps he would not be alone. After all, two other athletes with links to Salazar – Americans Galen Rupp and Jordan Hasay – also struggled here, both failing to finish. Both are also now looking for a new place to train after Salazar’s Nike Oregon Project (NOP) was dramatically shut down on the eve of the race as the sportswear giant – a sponsor of the Chicago marathon – tried to get a grip of a crisis that has done serious damage to its reputation.

Mo Farah: ‘Alberto Salazar ban does not mean I have done anything wrong’
Sadly, Nike CEO Mark Parker – implicated in the US Anti-Doping (Usada) case against Salazar for being aware of a testosterone experiment he conducted on the company’s premises – was not made available to the media here in Chicago, though he has saidhe did not believe the test was breaking any rules.
This has been an extraordinary few weeks for athletics. Salazar’s ban was announced in the middle of one of the most controversial World Championships, in Doha. The event will be remembered as much for the sight of empty seats and the oppressive heat as it will for the gold medals that Dina Asher-Smith and Katarina Johnson-Thompson secured so thrillingly for Great Britain.
Equally, it is impossible to think of Christian Coleman’s 100m gold in isolation from the ban he narrowly avoided on a technicality in the build-up after three missed doping tests. Nor can one celebrate the incredible 1500m-10,000m double of Sifan Hassan without acknowledging her association with her former coach Salazar and the NOP which she joined in 2016.

‘I am clean’ – watch Hassan’s angry outburst and Johnson’s response
The fall-out from Salazar’s ban is far from over. Not when the disgraced coach intends to appeal and denies any wrongdoing. And not when the IOC wants the samples of all athletes who trained at the NOP to be retested.
UK Athletics (UKA) performance director Neil Black – here in Chicago to help Farah – may be leaving his post after facing criticism but other officials at the governing body will also be asked to explain their links with Salazar, who acted as a consultant to Britain’s endurance runners for several years.
Was the UKA review that cleared Farah to continue working with his former coach in 2015 after the allegations of unethical practices were first aired in a BBC Panorama investigation robust enough? And will UK Sport, or maybe UK Anti-Doping, now feel the need for a further inquest into the decisions taken by one of the country’s best-funded governing bodies?
But perhaps above all, the most important legacy of the Salazar case could be to force athletics to re-examine its relationship with Nike.
Whether in Doha, Vienna or Chicago, it is hard to avoid its presence.
From shoe technology and sponsorship, through to its links with the media and senior officials, and the support it gave Salazar in his legal battle with Usada, the scale of the influence the company wields in this sport is apparent.

Asher-Smith romps to a stunning win the women’s 200m final
The Salazar scandal has brought this all into considerably sharper focus.
And having been forced to defend the decision to take its flagship event to Doha, the IAAF must now start preparing for the 2021 World Championships in Eugene. The Oregon city is closely associated with Nike, whose birthplace is only a few miles away.
Expect fresh scrutiny of the IAAF’s decision in 2015 to bypass the usual formal bidding process, and award hosting rights to the city, something that has since been the subject of investigations by both French prosecutors and the FBI.
Athletics finds itself in an era of exciting possibilities and brave new frontiers, but it also faces more questions than ever too.

Qatar’s winters can be relatively mild, but even that can impact your shoes significantly. Blog Post #18- Asia Abbreviated
Current Mood: Humble
Currently listening to: Weight of the World by Jon Bellion
Current verse of choice: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
Where do I even start….I am going to try my best to keep this blog short...but I can’t make any promises. This blog is going to be solely focused on my trip to Asia (abbreviated) so that I can remember it when I am old.
My journey began on February 2nd as I headed to the Cleveland Airport. As I made my way through security, my bag alarmed and they have to go through my entire bag…which means they have to take everything out. You can imagine my disappointment because I had to shove 2 weeks of supplies into this tiny duffel bag…that was not easy. As they search my items, they find the item that alarms-my heavy duty, hospital grade sanitary wipes. They proceed to tell me that I will have to either throw them away or check my bag because the wipes are flammable (who knew?). I was not planning on checking this bag, so I continued to question all of the options I had. Anyway, I went back out to the front desk and talked to the airline reps. I explained that I was going to a third world country and that it would be nice to have these sanitary wipes…they did not care. Little did I know, the man next to me was a doctor who overheard my conversation. He then says, “Let me check this bag for you.” And I said, “No, that is so nice, but it’s okay, I will check it.” And he said, “Please, let me do this for you. I understand how important those wipes are.” He then proceeded to pay for my bag to be checked so that I could have my sanitary wipes, wished me well, and walked away…I hope I see that man again someday-I am going to buy him a very nice meal.
Moving on, the rest of the day was just getting to Florida to meet my cousin Cody. We had one night in Florida, then hopped on a plane to Doha, Qatar (our layover destination). The entire flight was 13 hours, but I got restless after hour 6…it was a bit miserable. Once in Doha, we had about 3 hours for our legs to remember how to walk and hopped back on a plane to Yangon (Myanmar). We arrived in Myanmar at about 5:30AM…completely jetlagged.
Our team consisted of 10 people. Dr. Charlick (the leader of our mission and evangelism), Mrs. Charlick (optical team), Stephanie (my awesome roommate, optical team), Cody (doctor), Dr. Kerry (dentist), Dr. Bob (dentist), and all of our nurses (me, Renee, Brooke, Kathy). I was the youngest nurse (the youngest person on the trip actually). It was so inspiring to hear about everyone’s careers as a nurse and all of the previous mission trips they have done. All of these nurses went into this trip with years of experience, and there I was with 6 months of nursing under my belt...It was kind of intimidating, but I was so excited. Other members of our team included our host pastor and his wife (Jubilee and Moe Moe), and multiple of the students that had graduated from the bible college in Yangon. They were our translators throughout the trip, and they were all incredible people who are doing amazing work for God in the country.
The first day was just a lot of inventory and prepping supplies, which was actually a lot harder than I anticipated it to be. That could be because I couldn’t keep my eyes open. After prep, we went to dinner at this well-known restaurant that was built in replication of a historic boat that the king used. It also had live performances by Burmese dancers, and the food was really good!
After a much needed night of sleep, we headed out to set up our first medical clinic. The next 2 weeks were pretty much just a pattern of us setting up a clinic, moving, setting up a clinic, etc. We had to move every two days because we technically were not allowed to be in the country spreading the love of Jesus. Myanmar is a very strict Buddhist country, and the government controls pretty much everything in the country. For example, most of the tourist attractions are funded by the government and contain a lot of Buddhist content, foreigners are not allowed to travel to certain areas of the country, foreigners can only stay in certain hotels, etc. That being said, they have caused a lot of fuss in the past when medical teams have been found to be spreading the word of God.
So a typical day in Asia for us went a little bit like this:
Our alarms went off around 5:30AM, and devotion was at 6 AM. Devotion always started with an open prayer where we could all pray about whatever was on our hearts at that moment. Then we would share a testimony about life, big experiences, and a person’s walk with Christ, etc. It was amazing to hear everyone’s story and how they became a follower of Christ. Breakfast was at 7AM and out the door by 8 AM. We would drive to the location for that day and prepare the site for patients. The clinic had 4 different sections for patients. The patients would first go to the evangelistic section and hear about God, the Bible, and the ability to go to Heaven. Most of these people have never even heard the word Jesus. See, the Buddhist believe in reincarnation; when they are sinners, they believe that they will be reincarnated to something bad. However, when they find out that there is a Creator that can forgive their sins and “reincarnate” them into a kingdom (Heaven), they are ecstatic to become a Christian. After that portion of the clinic, they were able to go to the optical, dental, or medical portions of the clinic. Clinic usually ran until about 5:30 or until we saw all of the patients. We then would have a recap of the day, clean up, head to dinner, and sleep. It was a crazy, busy, exhausting, beautiful 2 weeks.
In terms of nursing, working in that setting was an incredible learning experience. After graduation, I went right into critical care nursing (which is extremely complex and equipment oriented). However, this kind of nursing was like triage or community health nursing, which I have very minimal experience with. Not to mention, in critical care I have endless resources, but there, I had close to no resources. I felt like it was day one of my nursing career all over again...and it was a little frustrating at times (not to mention the huge language barrier that existed). Over the course of 2 weeks, though, I learned more than I could ever imagine, and performed tasks that I would never be allowed to perform in America as a nurse. My cousin Cody taught me so much…he is so smart, has worked so hard, and he is such a good teacher. I really got a taste of what it is like to think like a doctor, which was really inspiring.
In terms of my health, I actually did get sick on the trip, but not with anything tropical or serious. I think I caught an upper respiratory infection on the flights over to Yangon. I ran a 100 degree fever for like 3 days straight, but I was still able to go to clinic. It was like the Lord blessed me from 8-5:30 every day so that I could tolerate it, but then I was miserable at night. Anyway, that got out of my system and I was good to go until one day, I had a full day of vomiting and diarrhea (pleasant to hear about…right?). On the bright side, it only lasted one day and it was gone.
The one touristy thing we did while we were there was attend this massive Buddhist cave. It was actually really beautiful hiking thorough the cave because it was the biggest cave I have ever seen or been in. Something interesting about the entire country is that, when you enter a holy place, you have to take your shoes off. That was definitely the first time I have ever hiked through a cave without my shoes on. After we got through the cave, we got in a canoe and rowed back to the entrance of the cave. The most impressive thing about this experience is that Dr. Charlick (who is in his 80s) hiked through the entire cave AND got in and out of the canoe. That’s my goal in life when I am 80.
Side note: the mountains in Myanmar are breathtaking. We would be driving down the road and there would be mountains that just pop up out of nowhere! Another interesting thing about the mountains is that, on the tip of almost every mountain, there are pagodas (Buddhist temples). I wonder how they carried all of that material way up to the top of the mountain…
On the way back home, my cousin Cody and I had a 20 hour layover in Doha, Qatar, and we defiantly took advantage of it. It just so happened to be Cody’s birthday as well. We ate amazing food, went to this famous market, saw the gorgeous skyline of the city, took a boat ride, and stayed in a beautiful hotel. Doha is one of the richest cities in the country, and it is all royalty money. It was modern, clean, alive, and beautiful. It was kind of reverse culture shock after spending two weeks in the jungle.
After the painful 16 hour flight from Doha back to Miami, I vowed to never get on a plane again (knowing that I had to get on one in a couple of days to get back to Ohio). Once we arrived home, I had some time to sleep and reflect on my trip. Myanmar was one of the greatest experiences I have been able to do with my life, and I am so humbled that God allowed this opportunity to be fulfilled. Hundreds of people accepted Jesus as their Savior (even a Buddhist monk…which is a huge deal). We saw almost 200 patients a day and were able to discover and treat their medical problems. I met so many friends that I will never forget, and I pray that I get to see them again someday. People ask me, “How was your trip?!”, and it is extremely difficult for me to put into words. To an extent, it is just impossible to put into words. All I can say is that my life and my heart are forever changed, but one thing I do know for sure: this trip was just the beginning of a life-long journey of medical missionary work for me.

#selbsseries| Styling Lully Selb pieces
It's been a while since I did a styling blog and this one is pretty challenging coz trying to look good with a pregnant belly ain't so easy. Wonder how do those hot mommies do it on Instagram, with perfect ootds and so effortless! In this Selb Series, I played around with all of our existing collections and kinda mixed them all up together with my own wardrobe staples. (Which many of you have too, real basics). So this first look is featuring black row pants (left) and black row jacket (right ) inspired by our trip to Doha; lovely geometric motifs captured from the museum we visited.
Glam up this pants with a pair of hot pink heels and structured top or chill down with comfy white sneakers. The black row jacket can be paired with the black row pants too as a set, matching motifs! Lastly for a festive look, I've paired the printed skirt from our latest Eid collection with this jacket and a turban style for and edgy look.
Top: My own wardrobe Bottom: Black row pants Shawl: Graphic shawl Heels: Pedro
Top: Black row jacket Bottom: Black row pants Shawl: Black Marble Shawl Shoes: Hush Puppies
Top: Black row jacket Bottom: White Pink Printed Skirt Shawl: White Pink shawl
In these next looks, I matched the white dots jacket with the black row pants and added some nude brown tones (shawl and shoes) to this monochrome outfit. Rather than going all nude, I like to keep the look strong and stay faithful with black and white. Of course, for a sharper look I've paired the jacket with our straight cut geometry pants and a pair of black heels. You can even zip it up for a clean look. Off you go for your meeting!
Top: White Dots Jacket Bottom: Black row pants Shawl: Taupe Graphic shawl ( only for subscribers, email me if you are keen ) Shoes: (Forgot the brand, oops!)
Top: White Dots Jacket Bottom : Geometric Pants Shawl : Black Corals shawl Shoes : Pedro
If you have a statement piece like this top I'm wearing below, the geometry pants adds another dimension to the look instead of boring black or white pants. I've also matched my all time graphic shawl to match the bottom. This look is so chic - can't wait to wear it once I give birth, cos now I'm cheating without zipping the back fully!!
Top: My own wardrobe Bottom : Geometric pants Shawl : Graphic shawl Shoes : Pedro Last 2 looks feature the tunic zipper top that comes in a really sweet shade of pink. I have to admit it's not so me, but it's so comfortable that it's on my repeat mode. If you think this is too pinky for you, throw in your basic black bottoms or denim and its goodbye to that cliche girly look!
Top: Knee length tunic top Bottom : Geometric pants Shawl : Pink corals shawl Shoes : Hush puppies
Top: Knee length tunic top Bottom : My own wardrobe Shawl : Blue strokes shawl Shoes : Nelissa Hilman
I like to keep the styling practical, easy and fuss free. Forget the fancy pieces just for the sake of ootd, cos keeping things real is good. Plus our prints are already a statement work of art, there is no need to over think when getting ready. Pssss.... all of these pieces are on sale!! There is further discount for current sale items too! Go check it, link right here! Remember to type promo code 50off at check out!
