Chōmeiji Neighborhood, Ōmihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture
A hymn for Thousand-Armed Kannon, Eleven-Faced Kannon, and Holy Kannon, three enshrined deities as one:
Let’s carry along Branches of willow alive For eight thousand years As we make our pilgrimage To this temple of long life

hagiography: you wanted gold, i'll cover your lungs with it. i'll cover your stomach with gold. and you'll sink into the earth, where metals rightfully belong doctrine: I know how to decide if you have a soul or not
hagiography: every time you witness a new kind of suffering, you have been spared from it until that moment in your life
hagiography: you only believe that suicide is a philosophical problem with priority because you assume that there are no philosophical problems after death. that's the subject of our wednesday seminar
doctrine: there is a voice
hagiography: the centaur was half-man and half-horse, master of the harvested and the wild, and for this mastery the heroes were trained by him.
hagiography: you'll go to the temple as a child, your mother will put formal clothes on you, you'll visit the festivals, the lights, you'll grow up, and you'll wonder if when they talk about community, they're talking about your neighbor who you hardly say hello to, but you'll know the procedures of the rituals, and you'll see the young people going through the rites that you also went through. then you will meditate in silence about death.
doctrine: bowing to Mecca it's not supposed to be a gymnastic activity. the men next to me are very gentle about it, but the man in front can be cruel.
doctrine: some people have an easier time figuring out which colors are profane rather than which colors are sacred. there aren't enough colors for them not to be dual function, the world is too small. some sages have mapped out that our hearts are green, our voices are blue and our crowns are light purple.
materialism: in the dry land of Greece, every stream and well deserved a god.

The Snake God is a deity that brings a shocking and sudden increase in golden fortune. This temple is dedicated to the snake god. Near Tokyo Tower
The reputation of Snake Mound spread by word of mouth on TV and the Internet.
The proprietress, who is from Akita Prefecture and started running a local restaurant in Tokyo, She encountered a snake when she worshipped at the shrine. After that, every time she reconstructed a building, she would encounter snake shells and snakes, and her business went smoothly. I went to the shrine to see it for myself.
When I went there to see it in person, I found it was off-limits.
But I found out that there is such a place full of greenery at the foot of Tokyo Tower, I am glad I went there.
I was also told that there is a shrine dedicated to the snake god at the nearby Shinkoin Temple, which has the same origin. I was able to pay a visit there.
There I had an unexpected encounter.
For the first time, I encountered a shrine enshrining Otake-san. She is a saint of the Edo period. I was only vaguely familiar with her, but I was surprised to learn that the person who built this shrine was Iemitsu Tokugawa's wife, Sho Katsura, who was a member of the family of Iemitsu Tokugawa. I was surprised to learn that the shrine was built by Keishoin, the wife of Tokugawa Iemitsu, who was a successful woman who achieved a great fortune.
There is also a statue of Bato Kannon (Goddess of Mercy), which is a memorial to Lord Iemitsu's beloved horse.
The Tokyo Tower and the gate of the temple are a picturesque sight.

Project Inventory
I once again find myself enmeshed in a book project, so perhaps it will help me to list out what I currently (as of January 2023) think the scope is:
Two years have passed since I originally completed my English translation of the Fudo Method in its entirety, and in the time since I have come to wish strongly that I had an abbreviated method for quick use that was clearly laid out without unnecessarily elaborate notation.
Following on from the last point, abbreviated practice directions for Sho-Kannon and the Komyo Shingon are likewise in order.
One of the main points of this book since conception was the transcription and translation of some of the methods described in the documents given to me by my master. This is the most difficult point, and the most likely to change as the project goes on.
Finally, having had a year to work with the Sutra Book I completed in 2022, I have realized that I should probably print a simple and straightforward Gongyou order, since none is clearly listed in the previous book. This desire may be best served in a separate volume, since I would like to have a printed copy of the Shichi Bongo Shomyo and the Rishu-Kyo for recitation that weren't just loose paper, but I fear the page number may start to grow out of control, and the point of listing things out like this is scope CONTROL, not creep. :P
The days have begun to lengthen again, I can feel it. Whatever spirit wants to live beyond the books my master left me moves in me this winter just like it did last year. Let's see if I can't let it speak before the summer melts it again

Sho-Kanzeon Bosatsu or Kannon Statue, early 8th century
Hakuho (645–710) or Asuka (538–710), Japan
Gilded bronze
188.9 cm (74.4 in)
Inside the East Hall stands a statue of Kannon (also known as Kanzeon), the bodhisattva (bosatsu) of mercy. Kannon is sometimes depicted in extraordinary forms, with 11 faces or 1,000 hands, but this statue has a simpler, more natural appearance. Hair flows over shoulders, while bodily movement, even the folds of flesh around the neck, seem almost tangible. This National Treasure is said to be one of the most beautiful Kannon statues in Japan. The “kan” in Kannon refers to a supernatural power that permits the seeing and hearing of what is normally invisible and inaudible. Kannon is often spoken of as the bodhisattva who employs this power to see and hear all beings on earth with compassion, coming to them in times of need. The Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu inside the East Hall (“Sho” meaning “sacred”) dates back to the Hakuho period (645–710) and incorporates characteristics that suggest foreign influences. For example, the thin, sari-like robe of the image reveals the contours of the legs and makes the feet and ankles clearly visible. Such details are reminiscent of Avalokitesvara images found in India. In fact, many statues at Yakushiji display a greater leaning toward Indian forms than is found at other Nara temples. No record remains of who crafted the Sacred Kannon or other statues at Yakushiji, though some believe they may have been based on artifacts brought to Nara from Buddhist realms such as India or Sri Lanka. Collection of Yakushiji Temple, Nara, Japa

Small Figure of the Bodhisattva Sho Kannon (Avalokiteshvara), ca. 1100, Brooklyn Museum: Asian Art
Small figure of the Bodhisattva (Bosatsu) Bodhisat-Sho Kwannon (Chinese Kwan Yin, Sanscrit Avalokitesvara), standing on a lotus pedestal. The left arm is partially raised the right is at one side, thrust forward a little. The figure wears a fillet around the base of his high chignon, sashes over the shoulders and across the chest, and a long skirt which reaches to the bare feet. The lotus pedestal rests on a three tiered base with scalloped edges. The figure and pedestal are carved separately, with the figure tenoned into the base. Both are carved of light brown, finely grained wood, probably kiri or paulownia. They were once covered with polychrome applied over a foundation of white gesso. This has now nearly all worn off, leaving only occasional traces of red, green and white gesso. Where exposed the wood has darkened. The long sashes hanging from the shoulders have been broken at the waist. The shoulders and arms, which are separate piece of wood, are cracked. The surface of the wood is worn in many places and is also scratched. This statue came from the Kofukuji Temple in Nara and was presumably one of a great number of similar ones sold about the turn of the century by the temple in order to pay for certain repairs. It was the first identified as such by Mr. Langdon Warner of the Fogg Museum at a Collector's meeting of the Society for Japanese Studies in the winter of 1935-1936. Size: 19 1/4 x 6 1/8 in. (48.9 x 15.5 cm) Medium: Wood, gesso, and paint

I swear, I finished this one last week, but just haven't gotten around to posting it. 😅 The prompt was "Kind" and once again I kinda blanked, but started thinking of synonyms and thought of bodhisattvas and that led to Kannon (Buddist diety of Compassion). So, in my attempt to avoid an image that would take hours I zeroed in on a picture of a Sho Kannon (holding a lotus bud in one hand and an open palm for the other) that's just the head. But of course I couldn't bring myself to leave out the headpiece so it took just as long as any of the others 😂 I discovered that my fancy Kuretake fountain brush pen is a lighter black than the Zig cartoonist brush pen no.22. You might be able to tell if you compare the brow of the crown with the heavily shadowed areas around it. Maybe i should post some reviews of the pens and brushes I've been playing with, it's been a blast 🧨 #inktober #inktoberprompts #inktober2022 #kind #kannon #avalokitesvara #shokannon #buddhism #inkdrawing #inking #illustration #artistsoninstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj34vm3rPr3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hase-dera Temple
Next we set of for Hase-dera a Buddhist temple in Kamakura. It was more like a complex with many different things at the location. When you first walk in there are tons of water features that are very simple and beautiful with some fish swimming about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a smaller area that is like a small Japanese rock garden with the rocks combed into patterns.
Tumblr media
There was a cave that was part of the temple. We were able to walk through it and all along it there were places for you to light a candle in remembrance. There wasn’t a lot of signage but it looked like there were different deities you could put candles near and then a very large one at the end with little figurines that you could place in the area. It was a very interesting experience.
Tumblr media
Then you could move up different stair cases to start to go closer to the temple itself. Along the way there were lots of little shines and places of worship and remembrance.  It was very beautiful. I’ll just throw some photos up below so you can see them:

Then we made it to the top where the temple is located. Inside the temple is a large statue of Bhudda. We did not enter but simply looked from outside and were quiet. Next door is a museum with some artifacts and another very large statue.
Tumblr media
Outside of the museum area there was another statue of Sho-kannon Bosatsu a beloved deity from the old times in Japan. This is from the plaque: “Kannon is known for its mercy and compassion such as mother’s affection and it is believed that Kannon will immediately appear to those who seek salvation in this realm. This statue was casted by the late Mr. Seibou Kitamura. It is enshrined as a symbol of peace.”
Tumblr media
We then wandered around to the overlook area, which overlooks the bay. It was really beautiful and most noteworthy was the variety of hydrangeas that were planted around the walk up to the top of the overlook. There were several species and many different colors!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On our way out we saw a statue trio on the path down. I’m not sure of the meaning but they were too sweet looking to not take a photo of!

Oh Lawd, Not Again: Kirk Frost Is Reportedly Having ANOTHER BABY With a Woman Who is NOT Rasheeda
Right here we go once more. The phrase on the curb is that Kirk Frost is having ANOTHER child with ANOTHER lady who is NOT Rasheeda. Sure, you learn that proper. After spending the Season 7 of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta within the greatest canine home ever after it was “confirmed” that he fathered a lovechild with former stripper Jasmine Washington, it appeared like Kirk was getting again on his spouse Rasheeda’s good facet. I imply, she did let him again in the home in any case, though she “reduce it in half” with the assistance of blue painter’s tape. However nonetheless… progress, proper? And now, studies (by way of Gossip In The Metropolis) are floating across the web that every one of that progress could also be fully thrown out the window … as a result of he’s STILL dishonest on Rasheeda, and never solely that, however ANOTHER stripper is carrying his youngster. A screenshot posted on GITC’s Instagram reveals a Fb submit from somebody making the not-so-shocking claims. “Kirk cheated on Rasheeda AGAIN… If she ain’t sick of him I SHO AM!!” the submit reads. “Some woman on IG posted her child saying he the daddy, she a stripper like Jasmine, know he like these sort.” Does this story sound acquainted to you? Properly, it ought to, as a result of we spent the vast majority of 2017 making an attempt to determine whether or not or not Jasmine Washington’s son was Kirk’s, and in line with a paternity take a look at, he IS the daddy of Child Kannon. Rasheeda filed for divorce, and after Kirk’s mom handed away, the pair grew nearer and reconciled. On a latest episode of LHHATL, Kirk was tricked into assembly Child Kannon at a park by his daughter Kelsie. A supply revealed to Hollywood Life final August that Kirk and Rasheeda’s relationship was repaired with the assistance of couple’s counseling. “Rasheeda and Kirk are in {couples} counseling and it’s wonderful how a lot it’s serving to,” the tipster stated. “They’re going very deep and Rasheeda says she’s really beginning to perceive Kirk higher and why he does the loopy issues that he does. He’s not off the hook, however it’s simpler for her to search out forgiveness for him.” But when Kirk has certainly gotten one other stripper pregnant, I don’t suppose any type of couple’s remedy is going to restore their marriage this time round. The truth is, I’ve a feeling this is going to be Rasheeda’s actual response: Or at the very least it must be. http://feeds.gossiponthis.com/~r/gossiponthis/~3/vVgdLK1JdE0/ The post Oh Lawd, Not Again: Kirk Frost Is Reportedly Having ANOTHER BABY With a Woman Who is NOT Rasheeda appeared first on My style by Kartia. https://www.kartiavelino.com/2018/07/oh-lawd-not-again-kirk-frost-is-reportedly-having-another-baby-with-a-woman-who-is-not-rasheeda.html

Small Figure of the Bodhisattva Sho Kannon (Avalokiteshvara), ca. 1100, Brooklyn Museum: Asian Art
Small figure of the Bodhisattva (Bosatsu) Bodhisat-Ratnapani, standing on a lotus pedestal. The figure holds the wonder-working jewel in the left hand. The right hand is raised in the abhaya mudra, the gesture which means "fearlessness or assurance". This week I was writing my dreams in a notebook. Some dreams make me remember my progress so I started to read about my "progress" and was horrible, I forgot to write the past events. So I complete it very resumed. The process was so painful and confusing, "how to be", "how I must be", "how I want to be", "how can I be for you". Each time I feel confusing, sad or loosing my way I listen to the Hannya Shingyo and try to recite it. Then I remember the Sho Kannon that represent mercy, is holding a lotus waiting to bloom and the other hand is open waiting to rescue. From a extract "Kannon is a Bodhisattva, which means she has prolonged her own eternal enlightenment to stay behind and help everyone who suffers in this world." So I will stay on my way.
why I'm writing in english? because my mind is trying to delete many things and one of them is the language, I'm writing awful (in both language, spanish and english) and I don't know why! so I'm exercising my brain.
