BUT sometimes I see this being used as a gotcha in a way that says "it's okay to be fat because it doesn't mean you're eating Immorally" and I resent that.

I am fat and today I ate three cookies for breakfast. big ones. and that doesn't change the fact that my fatness is amoral and my diet - while objectively not very healthy, this cookie thing is part of a pattern in my life as a stressed out grad student - is also amoral.

it's okay to be fat and love little debbies. and it's okay to be fat and eat little debbies more than you "should." you don't owe your health or nutrition to anyone. everyone should fuck off

anyway I'm not sure if y'all know this but there was a program on Showtime long ago called Red Shoe Diaries where the guy who plays mulder is trying to understand why his fiancee cheated on him and killed herself by reading women's crazy sex stories.

and in one episode, season 1 episode 8 ("Jake's Story") you can see Mr. Duchovny getting pretty freaky. like very freaky.

pete white reminds me of my ex physically and it makes me very sad and angry when i see art of him being attractive. and every time this happens i think maybe i will just blacklist his name. and then the jackass pops up behind my shoulder to be like "what? you can't handle a half-naked albino? are you a little sad boy?” and then i think No I Must Not Play Into His Games and that is 1000x worse than any other experience i've had alone in my own head

i gave up tv for lent. (am a christian convert, will not bother you about it, have literally 0 interest in proselytizing or judging) i've been listening to this american life sometimes when i want that kind of entertainment. on one level that's exactly the same. it's like the old joke of giving up beer for lent and then drinking liquor. friend called me out on that today and i was like yeah. god doesn't care really. but here's the thing.

i miss columbo so much. every day i miss him. columbo withdrawal is half the reason i got back on this website, an action i'm pretty sure god resents. i don't think my friend would really grasp what a sacrifice this is for me. but please understand that podcasts can NOT replace my special boy. it's not the same and jesus is the only person who really understands what it's like to be truly deprived as i am now

religion is politics and politics is religion; they're both theories of how we should treat the people around us. trying to keep politics out of your religion will only weaken your connection to god and the teachings of his son

perhaps the most healing thing for my self image lately has been following flansburgh appreciation blogs. i actually look a lot like john flansburgh IRL and it's not that i think i/we are unattractive, i just never really saw myself/him/us as particularly attractive. but these folks are really, really into what he's laying down. and that has kept the night light on inside the birdhouse in my soul. thanks flansgirls
