HIDE Inspiration Talk 50 (# 16 - 18) - Translation
Blood, Sweat, and Tears
I don’t sweat a lot. So, out of these three, what flows most for me are the tears. I’m a crybaby. Blood doesn’t flow much for me either, because I am not a woman (laughs). I don’t sweat much. Even when I am on stage, there is hardly any sweat on my face, so my make-up doesn’t run. For the rest of my body, on the other hand, it’s terrible. When I am wearing closed clothes that don’t show a lot of skin, it feels like the Kegon Falls [famous waterfall near Nikko] inside (laughs). Eh, is it a requirement for idols that their faces don’t sweat? Well, I’m not a born idol (laughs). I’m crying for all sorts of reasons. Movies like “Ai to Shishun no Tabi” [transl. “A Journey of Love and Youth”] usually make my cry. When I watch a so-called tearjerker, I simply start crying at once. I get emotional just talking about it and have to cry, even if it’s not particularly sad. So, I cry a lot. If it’s especially sad, or happy, if the tension rises, my tear glands just let loose against my will.
Foreign Countries and Japan
If we’re talking about foreign countries, the first one that comes to my mind is, of course, America [US]. My hometown of Yokosuka is full of foreigners, and since I saw drunk foreigners around ever since I was a child, I didn’t particularly like them. If anything, you could say I hated them. But I liked western music. In my mind, the drunk foreigners in Yokosuka and the foreigners who made rock music are two different things altogether. Because now, I have the opportunity to meet foreigners who are experts in my line of work. Back in the day, being able to work with the foreigners in the world of rock music that I was drawn to simply made me happy. Because it left a deep impression and was stimulating for me. Yet in contrast, working with those foreigners made me feel strongly that “I am Japanese”. Because at the end of the day, I carry the Japanese spirit after all (laughs).
Tokyo Dome
The first time I saw it, it filled me with awe and made me nervous, but with every year going there, I feel like it is getting smaller. It makes me wonder if it really is getting smaller, otherwise it would have to be me getting bigger (laughs). The only bands I went to see there from the audience were BUCK-TICK and the Stones.
#hide#translation#HIDE inspiration talk 50#words of the bean himself#these were so easy to translate I worry I got something horribly wrong#and too easy to justify the long pause since my last post

I searched for something recklessly because even though I stumble it's ok I know that I look foolish I’m running so that I just won’t have regrets I can only relay on myself, I don't need companions I pointed my blade at anything and everything, the wings of adolescence are fragile, fleeting
I want to be strong, to have the strength to live alone Truthfully I'm just afraid of being betrayed Always running away won't change a single thing I understand that yet the me that won't change is here
I proudly held up a pride called loneliness It was wings that I used to run away to a useless ideal I proudly held up a self assertion called ‘riot’ There wasn’t something like liberty beyond this light
Teenage Bluely Days I was drowning in stormy every days If I realized that I would have been burdened with loneliness It was painful. Truthfully I didn't want to be alone
I've completely forgotten my real face because I always act touch Occasionally, I have to put out strength, relying on someone is important I get hurt... I'll try facing towards the sky and yelling in a loud voice when I want to cry I don't want to forget to myself I want to be as I am...
You pushed the back of this weak me The encouraging voices of my Dad, Mom, and companions have given me light
I proudly held up loneliness and the wounds of adolescence They were wings that I used to run away to a useless ideal If there's liberty in that clear blue sky then It doesn't even matter that these proud wings will be torn to shreds
I ran recklessly aiming for the sky I flew away with my wings spread, I definitely landed at 'liberty' I have a wonderful family, I've had wonderful companions These were the best days, let's meet again if we're reborn...

While 'US Tries to Curb China' in Asia-Pacific, Beijing Boosts Its Army
The United States continues their efforts to contain China's activities in the East and South China Seas by weaponizing the ongoing maritime dispute between the Southeast Asian nations, Shen Shishun, director of the Center for South Pacific Studies of the Chinese Institute of International Studies, told Sputnik, suggesting that Washington's maneuvers will only bolster patriotic sentiment among the Chinese.
"The US is trying to curb China, relying on third countries," Shen told Sputnik China. "There is a conflict between China and Japan over islands in the East China Sea, but it is precisely because of the US that this problem emerged."
According to the Chinese academic, the Diaoyudao (Senkaku) Islands, which "historically belonged to Beijing," ended up in the hands of Japan due to Washington's post-WW2 foreign strategy.
© REUTERS/ Japan Coast GuardChinese Ships Reportedly Enter Japanese Waters Near Disputed Senkaku IslandsOver the past few centuries the archipelago has repeatedly changed hands. The Okinawa Reversion Agreement of 1971 between Tokyo and Washington recognized Japan's sovereignty over the islands.
"The United States deliberately misinterprets historical facts related to this matter, uses the situation around the islands to increase tension in Sino-Japanese relations and exploits the contradictions between China and its neighbors to curb [Beijing]," Shen said, adding that the US strategy is futile.
Dmitry Mosyakov, director of the Center for Southeast Asia, Australia and Oceania at the Institute of Oriental Studies, believes that the anti-China sentiment promoted by Washington and Tokyo could set relations between the US-Japanese alliance and China back decades.
According to Mosyakov, Washington and Tokyo are not seeking compromise on the Diaoyudao (Senkaku) territorial dispute, but, on the contrary, are fanning the flames over the archipelago.
© AFP 2017/ STRChina’s South Sea Fleet Gets Its Own Marine Rescue SquadronOn Monday US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis met with his counterparts from Japan and South Korea on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations' (ASEAN) Defense Ministerial Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in the Philippines to discuss "deepening security cooperation." A Department of Defense (DoD) press release said that "the three ministers reaffirmed that freedom of navigation and overflight must be ensured."
ADMM-Plus is an annual meeting that brings together the defense ministers of 10 ASEAN countries and eight "dialogue partners," which include India, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and the United States.
Mattis also held bilateral talks with Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera. The two "expressed serious concern about the situation in the South China Sea and reaffirmed their opposition to unilateral coercive actions by claimants, including the reclamation and militarization of disputed features, which alter the status quo and increase tensions," in a clear reference to China.

China's Charm Offensive: Beijing, Manila Manage to Reach Compromise
Speaking to Sputnik, Mosyakov highlighted that the Sino-Philippine relationship appears to be a viable alternative to the US-Japanese strategy: Beijing and Manila have managed to reach some compromises in the South China Sea. For instance, Philippine fishermen are allowed to fish in the area of Huangyan (Scarborough) shoal.
"China's relations with the Philippines show that… the discussion of existing problems between the two countries on a bilateral basis brings success," the Russian academic stressed.
© AP Photo/ Bullit MarquezIndia Prods ASEAN to Take Action Against China, Pakistan for Helping North KoreaDuring the ASEAN ADMM-Plus summit Chinese Minister of Defense Chiang Wanquan emphasized Beijing's intention to work closely with the association to build a safer Asia. He signaled that China is willing to actively develop relations with ASEAN countries in many areas, including joint naval exercises and cooperation to combat terrorism.
At the same time Beijing opposes the involvement of external forces in its territorial disputes with neighboring states. This stance was voiced by Fu Ying, chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China, at the recent annual meeting of the International Valdai Discussion Club.
She confirmed China's readiness to continue negotiations on the islands, but spoke out against turning the disputes into an unnecessary geopolitical confrontation. She stressed that the interference of other countries, primarily the United States, in China's relations with neighbors may only escalate tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which took place in Beijing on October 18-24, 2017, also addressed the issue of regional security. The congress's resolution envisages the modernization of the nation's defense as one of its top priorities. It also emphasizes the need to transform the People's Liberation Army (PLA) into a world-class armed force.
© REUTERS/ StringerChina's Ruling Party Prioritizes Massive Army Upgrade, Silk Road ProjectThe resolution's emphasis on "the need to implement a military-strategic course with a focus on new conditions" is largely regarded as a message to Japan, which is steadily drifting away from its post-WW2 policy of pacifism under Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
According to the South China Morning Post, the PLA Navy's South Sea Fleet has recently deployed a squadron of submarines to the disputed waters of the South China Sea to increase battle readiness.
Beijing's actions in the region prompt concerns among its ASEAN neighbors. Earlier, in March 2017, reports emerged claiming that China could have been involved in the militarization of its artificial islands in the South China Sea. In response, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian admitted that Beijing had engaged in a large construction endeavor in the region, but said "most of the building is for civilian purposes."
Satellite imagery released in March 2017 depicted the buildup of a military installation on a northern island of the Paracels. According to Taiwanese media sources, the construction looked like "preparation for a harbor." They assumed that China may be seeking to bolster its naval presence in the maritime area. The Paracels are claimed by a number of countries, including China, Taiwan and Vietnam.

English: Suicide Memories
Suicide memories Let's end it already Because I can't reluctantly live through these cruel days as they are
Let's go to the free sky accompanied by a banquet of despair I want wings so I can fly to that world that doesn't have sadness
Goodbye memories I don't want to be hurt any more than this The tedious days, I'm afraid of coexisting in the darkness of adolescence
The ideal that I picked up goes to the other side of the fence that's stained by the sunset Arranging my shoes until I'm conscientious, I guess it's a warning to them
Disappointment, defeat, revenge, goodbye
I was wishing that I wanted to live That child flew away earlier I was wishing that I wanted to die I am, even now, inside of a cage
I won't meet you a second time
