I found a saved file where I calculated min/max price for assembling a Warlord Titan... From November 2022.

Comparing the prices from November 2024 the price went up 18% (at least for Poland).

I recall reading somewhere that on average a planet sees one blank in a generation.

Now that's pretty vague and hardly a reliable statistic.

A world of 50 million people probably won't see one in centuries but a hive world of 50 billion will see multiple in the same generation.

If I were to guess... Maybe 1 per billion in a generation?

I recall how union people once started to mess up with my workplace's bonus payment system.

Long story short. They forced some technical changes which just cause much more work for the accounting AND changed the earning limits to "benefit those who earn least" except now almost nobody qualifies to get higher bonuses (the bonuses didn't change so those who do get them didn't get more).

One of the many reasons unions don't actually work is that once the workers collectivize into one, the purpose of the union becomes not to stand up for the individuals that make up that collective, but the collective itself. And what is the expression of that collective? The union.

Even disregarding the potential for power-hungry individuals to use that to their own ends (which can't really be disregarded but just setting it aside for the moment to focus on this other issue), the union can't actually let itself worry if what it's doing will hurt one or two or 200 or 2,000 workers it represents, because its goal is now to sustain the expression of the whole, the union itself.

The same is true of any organized social movement. It can't let itself be concerned with the individual welfare of those it claims to represent, the movement itself and sustaining it is the most important thing. Which is why just like the unions it's perfectly willing to hurt or sacrifice the individuals it claims to represent as long as it means that the movement itself is perpetuated and grows.

Mages are by nature very territorial and competitive.

They also have innate need for building towers.

You can somewhat mitigate those traits by offering them abundance of food - they might build towers from it and compete to build (and eat) the tallest food tower.

It'll keep them from fighting each other but they'll grow fat instead.

I’m sure Mages being Like That™️ doesn’t help.
