Since high school I’ve always carried a camera with me, and in 1973 as I walked to class @ucsc I saw Angela Davis walking nearby. Of course I asked if I might make a photograph of her, and she was very patient with a young, naïve, entitled, white hippy kid. I love the entire process involved in making photographs, even spotting, and especially sending a print off to a new home @sfplbookarts @sfpubliclibrary There are some of my photographs that I think should be part of an historical collection, and since I’m partial to libraries, the San Francisco Main Library has kindly accepted a few of my prints. It doesn’t seem possible that this image was made nearly 50 years ago. Today marks Professor Davis’ 79th birthday. The problem, Ryoga reflected, is that Japanese suburbs all sort of looked the same. Same modest single family houses and small apartment buildings, same convenience stores and other small businesses. Same schools, same sounds. Same people, in a way.
