Here is the first of the MIDI songs I promised I'd reupload, the Amile Forest song! Originally shared to the TEO Fan Fun Club in 1998, created by japanese composer "Shirapon" (Or Sirapon)! It seems to be a fan work, but it could easily be mistaken for official media.

You may have heard this already (as it's on the finfin.de website), but many could have skipped over it. So I'd like to share it. It's a beautiful piece.

Here are some details about the song from the composer (translated):

"Since the "TEO song" is finished, I'm uploading it to the library. The title is now "TEO 1st Movement ~Amir no Mori~", but I don't think the topic really fits. I'm uploading it here for now, whether it's TEO or not, as I wrote it with that intention. I would be happy if you could all listen to it. (Anyway, it's no longer the "TEO song"…)"

Citrus isn't ending in August, and let me tell you why

We're mid-arc. This arc is about Mei's new fiance after Mei finds out that she truly is head over heels with Yuzu. Yes, this arc could be over in a chapter with the Manager giving up Mei to be happy with Yuzu. Truth be told, he doesn't know that they're in love and just wants to see them be happy

We have an unspoken arc to tackle. Grandfather. We know how he acted when Yuzu showed up at his home, we know that Mei didn't want the picture of her kissing Matsuri to end up with him, we know that he's controlling and wants Mei to marry someone of his choosing. He's not just going to step aside to let them be happy

Ume told Shou to step the fuck up as a father. Has he? No. Will he? I sure as hell hope so

THE WEDDING

They still need to finish high school and graduate

Gays in college? I think YES

Does Mei become the new headmaster? Does Yuzu become a teacher alongside her?

Any other unspoken arcs with characters we don't know yet

After re-skimming my way through Citrus, it's interesting to contrast to the recent spate of "damaged teenagers in fucked up relationships" that have had quite a few anime adaptations these past few years (most notably, Scum's Wish). Citrus has its characters quickly mature out of those unhealthy dynamics way faster than the characters of series actually of that genre, lol. Really, Citrus only had the appearance of that kind of series in the beginning, but its intent was just a more normal romance arc. My guess is that Sabrouta included those elements in the early chapters just to justify the sobalicious physical interactions. But as soon as the romance actually got going, the sensual artwork evoked the same passionate emotions from the readers via emotional altercations rather than physical ones. After volume 4, almost every hug or kiss gets portrayed at a distance/partially off panel/at an obscure angle. I think it's mainly the execution of the Himeko arc that tainted Citrus for everyone who didn't stick around. The opening arc was salacious, sure, but it also set up some clear character arcs that could have been dealt with in a critically acceptable way, and the salacious bits were in service of that. You can see the critically acceptable point the Himeko arc was going for (which is that Yuzu is a horny teenager whose horniness temporarily makes her selfish) in hindsight. However, the way Momokino as a character is executed in that arc was way over the top, all Oniisama E stuff. Except that Oniisama E was Class S, so it didn't have sobalicious physical interactions on top of that, and the combination is what made the end product feel skeezy in Citrus. If volume 2 had played Momokino as more overtly platonic, not jumping to physical claims of ownership to demonstrate her jealousy, then I think the perception of Citrus would have been quite different. I quite like the Matsuri arc as is, so the Himeko arc should have been a little bit of a palate cleanser (compare to the way Sara doesn't try to jump Mei even when she has romantic feelings for her). Instead, the first 4 volumes basically do validate the joke people had that it had a sexual assault every chapter for fanservice, between every combination of character. Yuzu and Mei making mistakes and being overly aggressive in their hapless horniness is on point for their characters. Matsuri fucking around is also on point for her character. But Himeko is basically a completely different character after volume 2, and she is not one of the ones who should be a part of the casual body language. She's meant to represent the broader world where sex is second to responsibility. (See, for example, how Sabrouta doesn't make the same mistake with Shirapon.)

Yuzu's Harem. This is something I observe.. I mean look! Harumin is a little sister, Mei as the "real" little sister, Yuzu treats Matsuri like one so that counts. And lastly Shirapon-senpai, she is well I know it's not a ship but... Let's consider the fact that she seems like the youngest (little sister) in their clan. I did not add Nina coz, they don't have that much of closure than Sarah.

I Read Chapter 36

And now I can finally get my full thoughts down.

1) So this chapter takes place, I’m assuming, a semester after Mei’s letter? They’re all third years now and Matsuri is a first year at their school now.

2) I’m not mad at the time skip. I’m usually iffy with time skips because they’re often so poorly executed, but I mentioned in an earlier post that I’m kind of here for it. Mainly because we’re 36 chapters in and 5 years running. I think it’s about time we actually get the story rolling because if we were to have them go through a whole arc of dealing with this entire complicated mess that is Mei’s arranged marriage, we’re gonna be dancing around for another 30+ chapters. 

3) Yuzu has the greatest friends. Seriously, they know she’s hurting, and they’re trying to make things as normal as they can. Even Himeko seemed kind of down for her when she was done scolding Yuzu for probably another dress code violation. And Shirapon’s noticing that Yuzu is still wearing the ring? Her expression doesn’t change, but you can also tell Shirapon’s like, “Aw damn...I’m so sorry, Yuzu.”

4) Mei is a fucking jerk. I know she has her issues and has her reasons for leaving, but like...you even write it in your letter. You write that Yuzu did a lot for you and that she means so much to you...but you break up with her and explain your situation through a goddamn letter. That you seemingly wrote on the same damn notebook your girlfriend wrote to win your heart. That is fucking cold.

5) Also, wtf? “I’m extremely grateful of the fact that we have our bond as sisters”? I can’t help but feel like this is a dickish statement. I mean, yes, they are stepsisters, but I also feel like this is kind of inappropriate to put in a break-up letter. I dunno. It just makes it seem like Mei cares more about their bond as sisters than as lovers, which would probably hurt Yuzu even more.

6) I hope, with this time skip and the break-up, Yuzu actually takes this opportunity to better herself. I’m waiting for them to almost be graduating and through some weird circumstances, Yuzu and Mei reunite. And Mei sees that Yuzu has become such a strong and independent woman and falls in love with her all over again.

7) And then, the twist would be that Shou finally comes back after being a shit father and fucking walking the earth for 6 years and hears about this shit, but then notices that his daughter is marrying someone she doesn’t love or know very well and decides to be a proper parent for once in his life and step in to help her. So he breaks off the engagement somehow and tells Mei, “You can inherit the Aihara family and the academy, but it’s like I told you--live for your own path! That includes your personal life and the person you want to marry!”

9) Cue Mei seeing this as an opportunity to finally get back together with Yuzu and she tracks Yuzu down and tells her that she wants to rekindle their relationship.

10) But I don’t want Yuzu to just forgive her on the spot. I want Yuzu to go, “You broke up with me with a goddamn letter and then cut off all contact with me. Fuck off.”

11) And Mei has to spend something like 20+ chapters earning Yuzu’s forgiveness and love while all sorts of drama pummels the two again.

12) That’s probably my biggest concern right now. I really hope that Saburouta doesn’t make Yuzu as her old self--the Yuzu that would forgive Mei at the drop of a hat and doggedly pursue her. I want Yuzu to actually stand her ground for once and go, “No. I’m not going to forgive you because you hurt me very badly and now you seem to be expecting me to forgive you instantly like I used to.”

13) And I want Mei to finally for once just fucking grow a spine and do shit the way she wants. And I want her to go through the same amount of effort and beyond that Yuzu did when she was pursuing her.

14) Finally, I wonder if the story will continue with them going to college. That’d be pretty cool.

Here Yuzu said to her that how they are girls they have to do things that the girls at her age do but Mei say that she has resigned to be a girl for a long time.

And now she is the one who said that she know how Shirapon-sempai feel becuase she is a girl too.

I think that when she said that in the last pic,I think that is when she said in the letter that she tried to know more about the things that Yuzu like and try to do new things with Yuzu to know more about her,like go to dates....etc
