Edward doesn't realise how much Izzy has changed until they're faced with his younger self. Unfortunately, Izzy himself knows exactly why he's changed.

7K. Part of the Seaglass AU series, where Ed and Izzy are BDSM leatherworkers and Stede runs a knitting shop. The author has a companion series that follows Lucius, Pete, Fang and Izzy. This entry, Spoons, focuses on the growing relationship between Izzy and Lucius. Top Lucius. Bottom Lucius. I think it can be read as a standalone but the rest of the series is great too. Hot 10/10.

9K. Lucius has been taken by a rogue band of men and they have abused their prisoner, to say the least. Izzy walks in to the bar where he is held captive. Very dark and cruel but also tasteful, beautiful and heart warming by the end. One of my absolute favourites. TW Sexual enslavement and abuse. Disturbing 10/10 Hot 10/10. Hurt/Comfort 10/10.

Letting himself get cursed may not have been the smartest thing Wei Wuxian has ever done, but he'd argue that it’s completely in character. So he should earn some points for consistency, at the very least. Besides, when the spirit had been explaining it, the curse hadn't sounded too bad. Maybe a little bothersome if he underestimated how many people felt strongly about him, but surely, surely, it wouldn't be enough to hamper him in the long run.

Let it be known that Wei Wuxian is an idiot.

A/B/O with meet cute Hannigram, i don’t really like omegaverse but something about this caught my eye, maybe Will as a photographer, which was very interesting, maybe Hannibal finally leaving the role of eternal top/alpha/dom in a non-angsty fic (thank you, authors who write bottom Hannibal), really liked it, it’s a light read, soft, fluffy, might even be a comfort little fic. 10/10

intimacy. intimacy is wow. and also, pretend relationships because why the hell not? Hannibal has feelings, which is cool, great, the writing was soothing, charming, IT’S COZY. REAL COZY. i loved it, i love that is a Hannibal pov, there’s so much longing and it’s beautiful, it’s not such a light read but it’s not at all overwhelming, would read again a hundred percent. 10/10

a fucking parent trap scenario by Devereauxs_Disease <3 [26k]

a misunderstanding leaves Hannibal feeling betrayed, and since he has two braincells, he’s somehow convinced by a stranger who looks just like him that switching lives parent trap style is a Great Idea. a Hannibal extended universe fanfic by my favorite hannigram author, it’s as the title says, a parent trap scenario, as always the writing is completely charming, Dev’s Nigel is one of the best, so well written and on character that is really pleasing to read, Nigel and Hannibal are both raging narcissistic assholes, and it’s just so funny and witty and charismatic. 100/10, would read again.

another pretend relationship fic, but this time is also a a/b/o with some “unconventional” a/b/o dynamics, amazing, i loved it. a serial killer is targeting alphas with Hannibal’s profile, Will and Hannibal thinks it would be cool to pose as a fake couple to catch the killer. it’s surprisingly lighthearted and fluffy, i thought it would be more serious and dark but yk how things go. it was a great read, highly entertaining, engaging and beautiful in all it’s pining. Idiots In Love my friends. yeah, loved it. 10/10, would read again.

Fics that Rewired my Brain a Little Bit

A rec list containing the fics that changed how I think about writing, changed how I think about the world, changed how I think about myself, or just changed something unknowably but profoundly. (I make no promises as to the quality or to the fandoms since I am a trash goblin, but these are the fics that changed me.) (also fair warning, I am also an angst gremlin and so the majority of these fics will be extremely sad)

Time v.3.0 by Teyke -- Doctor Who The only fic I've ever come across that manages to convey what a Time War must have really been like.

No Such Liberty by Xparrot -- MCU, focusing on the Thor movies The best depiction of Asgard that I've ever seen, one of the best Thor & Loki relationships that I've ever seen (such gorgeously complicated sibling interactions), and this is how the MCU really should have ended.

Missing an Angel by Fantismal -- Supernatural The main fic in this series is called A History of Heaven as Understood by the Archangel Gabriel, and that is exactly what it is -- a history of Heaven, set in Supernatural canon, detailing the initial glory days and eventual decline all the way up to the events of the show.

Four Deaths at a Funeral by shiphitsthefan-- Supernatural (mostly) In which four Deaths encounter each other at the end of Season 10, when Death (SPN edition) is killed.

The Winchester Casualties by shiphitsthefan -- Supernatural The ghosts of various people killed by (or killed as a direct result of) the Winchester brother's actions encounter each other and have a bit of a bitch session. It's great.

and yet so far from death by SummerFrost -- The Witcher (netflix version) The only ghostfic that matters. This fic is, ostensibly, a love story with a happy ending -- it hurts like nothing else I've ever read, and yet it's still such a sweet thing.

ask me tomorrow by Emamel -- The Witcher (netflix version) In which Geralt and Jaskier live in opposite directions to one another -- Geralt's future is Jaskier's past.

Silver and Copper by Heronfem -- The Witcher (netflix version) I don't know how to describe this one, besides saying that it's a dark and strange and strangely lovely mystery about unraveling a curse and unearthing old wrongs and old blood, and also MIND THE FUCKING TAGS. Seriously. Don't go into this fic without reading them, but if you're up for it I promise it's worth it. (Also it's written by a friend, so give it some love.)

nothing safe is worth the drive (follow you home) by SummerFrost -- Buffy the Vampire Slayer I've never even seen BVTS and this fic still changed my life -- apparently it's a fic where they actually go on the Glory-avoiding roadtrip? And it's wonderful and funny and sad and it hurts and it's full of life and it's... a roadtrip fic, and there's nothing else like it.

Send us a Blindfold, Send us a Blade by Trinary -- Transformers IDW1 The only fic I've ever seen with that deals with the end of MTMTE and the fact that there is an entirely new Cybertron just hanging out alongside the remnants of the old one, and also it's just... the nostalgia in this is like nothing I've ever seen. It really, really manages to capture the change in things over the course of the war, from the hopeful revolution of the beginning to the grinding slog of four million years later, and Starscream's place in all of it.

Mankind Should Have Been My Business by DesdemonaKaylose -- Transformers IDW1 The summary is "A list of mechanisms whom Megatron has loved", and that's really all it is, but also I cannot stop thinking about this sort-of-a-fic, sort-of-a-poem.

the only thing left out in the light by buttface -- Transformers IDW1 (specifically MTMTE/LL) You'll probably need to know MTMTE canon to understand this one, but it deals with the alternate Lost Light where Rodimus died fighting the sparkeater, and Drift's reaction to it. One of the best Drift character studies I've ever read.

the triumph of time by oriflamme -- Transformers IDW1 The end of the original run of IDW Transformers comics, redone feat. WAY more Titans, way more plot, way more mythology, the Quintessons, and poetry. One of those fics series where the only word to describe it is "epic", in every single sense of the word.

Victory Condition by astolat -- Transformers G1 Look. I've talked about this fic so much on this blog. I don't have anything new to say here except that of all the fics on this rec list, this is the one that rewrote my brain the most.

Izzy Hands is butler to the notoriously rich and famous Edward Teach, admiring him from afar and making do with scraps of attention, substituting proximity for intimacy. He'll take what he can get. But when his boss's one night stand turns into something more, Izzy finds even that slipping through his fingers. It's a good thing he has his hands full then, with the two Bonnet kids taking a shine to him, and Stede's unhinged, jittery chef who just won't leave him the fuck alone.

Awakening with You by Sir_Bear (Izzy/Lucius)

AI fic wherein Lucius finds Izzy, an abandoned starship AI, and restores him. Izzy deals with the loss of his crew, and accepting love despite the fear of losing people he cares for again.

The Seer lowers the hood of his robe. "Lucky Hands? You look different without the eye mask."

Izzy can't do more than nod as his legs give out and he drops to his knees. He flinches instinctively when the Seer’s gloved hands touch his face moments later, cool satin feeling like a balm against the injuries on Izzy’s face.

“Ugh, you humans sure bleed a lot.” The Seer’s fingertips alight on the hand Izzy’s holding to his side—he gasps, looking at the gash beneath Izzy’s palm, immediately pressing it back over top, adding the pressure of his own. “Who hurt you?” he asks Izzy, tone indecipherable.

The corner of Izzy’s mouth twitches up as he fights a wry smile. “Take a wild fucking guess.”

“Oh blessed First Sight," the Seer whispers. There's a quiet kind of fury lurking behind his words. "I hate to ask, but how do I know this isn't a trap?"

"You don't," Izzy says, resigning himself to bleeding out beside an earthmover. "It would hardly be the first time my Captain used me as bait. But he's dating the fucking mayor; I've nowhere and no one else to turn to."
