director’s cut on “Milk and Sugar” please!

The Milk and Sugar 'verse as a whole was something I loved writing, I was so proud when I finished it, I shall always be so very fond of it.

The thing that first sparked Milk and Sugar itself was closer to spite

It was written for a DCTV Femslash week and when I sat down to plan out what to write for that I wanted to write a different ship for each prompt, and the third prompt was coffee shop AU and it only seemed right for it to be an Iris ship and to involve Jitters, and the actual first idea was an Iris/Linda fic, but there were Westallen v Snowbarry arguments going on at the time again and I thought I'd just kick Barry out of that and write a fic where Iris and Caitlin date instead.

So I wrote a fic that really was meant to be a short coffee shop AU only the last lines showed up pretty much right before I was about to post and shifted it to a canon divergence and I thought oh maybe one more part, and then it was maybe just part of series 1, but then the wedding crossover aired while I was working on Coffee, To Go, and I was a bit grumpy about that one and couldn't let that be how things went down for Iris and Caitlin, I'd have to write up to there at least just to have no Earth-X (that's actually the very first chapter that was named for the whole series), and well.

It did not stay a short coffee shop AU.

But I really did enjoy writing the Snowest and I think I shall always have a soft spot for them now, and all thanks to this little fic.

It shall have a special place in my heart always.

11. [Barry and Cisco] have just stumbled into a fairy ring, and they've forgotten they ever knew each other! What happens now?

My mind went right to that episode of s3 where Barry got amnesia and fell in love with Iris all over again. In a world with Barrisco endgame...he'd be falling for Cisco (all over again, ofc, because he had a crush on Cisco the whole time in this version of events). And since both of them lose their memories, Cisco would be gushing about Barry too.

But of course they'd both try to disguise it as "friendly banter," because neither of them wanna scare off the cute guy who seems to really like them (platonically, they think. Oh, these lovable idiots).

Caitlin and Iris realize that these two will get their memories back by kissing. And both of them know that Barry and Cisco have been crushing on each other for ages, and are still flirting now, but...how to convince them to go for it?

So shenanigans ensue, in which Caitlin and Iris try to set them up, except those plans go a bit awry. But also, in a way, those plans still succeed, because Barrisco fall more in love with each other until one day they go for it and kiss. And all is well!

(Except they "forgot" where the fairy circle was, so the following week, Caitlin and Iris get stuck there 😉)

3. My favorite fic that I’ve written - hmmm I think there’s three and I’m gonna say that’s fine bc what rules. For like the best writing I think I’ve done in a fic there’s a 1D rpf I did in second person that I feel like flows really well and takes you into the feeling.

For a character exploration I really love the fic I wrote about Danny Mahealani from teen wolf exploring what his storyline could (SHOULD) have been in the show + how his significance could have been related to the origins of his last name. DANNY SHOULD HAVE BECOME A MAIN CHARACTER IN SEASON TWO AND IF I EVER SEE JEFFS BITCH ON THE STREET

Anyway, third one would be a fic for The Flash where Caitlin has a Bi Awakening because of Iris because she’s literally the hottest woman on television??????????? But yall wanna act like she ain’t bc racism….okay…,.

8. Projects I’m currently working on - I’m trying to finish all my old fics in chronological order, but I actually think I want to deep dive into all my old fandoms and finish all the WIPs from each fandom one by one. Im also feeling super conflicted about rpf so I’m looking at all my 1D WIPs and trying to figure out if any of them can work as original fiction instead. A lot of them I think only work in the context of 1d lore/fandom phenomenons so idk what to do with those.

Currently actively writing something vaguely titled “silver courts the captain” which is gonna be cheesy fluffy black sails fic.

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Yeah I didn’t expect that me writing smut for the first time would have like no affect on the kind of feedback I got? I was expecting a lot of commentary on the sex but most folks are still mostly focused on the ship 😄 which I honestly love for me I’m self conscious enough as it is. The fic was Rachel x Monica friends fic btw 😅

Also!!!! The previously mentioned fic about Danny got so much kindness and love that encouraged me to keep going even tho it took me like ten years (I don’t think that an exaggeration) to finish that fic. And I didn’t expect that at all I didn’t think anyone would care. 😭 literally every person that commented on that fic ever I’m sending you wishes for peace, good health days and paid off debt 😭🩷💕🥹🥹🥹

A slightly late entry for @polyamships Polyam Shipping Day prompt ‘devotion’

Caitlin thinks she's cursed with her cold powers and becomes a devotee of the somewhat forgotten God of Speed, seeking his lightning to warm her. He eventually visits her, confused as to why she prays to be normal. He becomes her lover and tries to get her to understand she's special, a demigod like he once was.

Iris is another demigod, descended from a muse, who travels far and wide to find other demigods and inspire them to tell their story. She heard of the priestess who survived countless lightning strikes and seeks out Caitlin, bonding with her as Caitlin opens up about her life. Despite the risk to her from Caitlin's powers, Iris doesn't shy away from their connection and they become involved too, with Caitlin gaining confidence in her abilities as they grow closer.

At first, the God of Speed is wary of Iris, of her influence on Caitlin, and they end up antagonizing each other when they meet. However, they come to realize after spending time together that they both want the same for Caitlin, to understand and believe in herself. And they also can't deny there's plenty of passion between them as well. They discover the three of them work well together, providing support but also pushing them to be better versions of themselves at the same time.
