Alright... okay... I just... need a moment.
Fuck, I'm emotional. I'm trying to gather my thoughts, but it's difficult. So I'm going to try my best.
First, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this anime, of this story, of this masterful, masterful piece of art. The animators, the composers, the writers, the voice actors, the directors, the producers, just, everyone. And most especially, to Hajim Isayama, who, without doubt, has created one of the greatest stories ever told.
And with that said, I'm just going to say this. "Attack on Titan" is, in my opinion, the greatest show ever made. I mean that, sincerely, and with all my heart. It's the greatest show, and one of the greatest stories, of all time. It's truly a masterpiece. A pillar of great art. I don't think that's hyperbole. I think that's absolutely true.
I don't even know where to start.
I'm just blown away. Completely blown away.
Ahh, well, I guess I'll just start by talking about some of the changes that were made, and what wasn't, and how much I appreciate both. I knew they would stick with the overall story and not change the ending, and I'm so glad they didn't, because it was always the right ending. I don't care what anyone says, what anyone's criticisms are. This was always, always, always the right ending.
The obviously biggest change was the conversation between Armin and Eren near the end, and I think, given the controversy caused by this particular moment in the manga, I'm not surprised, and I think they did an excellent job of clarifying what Armin actually meant, and most importantly, that he wasn't ever condoning Eren's actions. That they had Armin instead take on and shoulder the responsibility of Eren's actions, in a show of love and friendship to Eren, was incredibly moving and gut-wrenching at the same time. That Armin blamed himself for what Eren did as much as Eren himself, and said that they would be together again someday, in hell, was actually incredibly shocking to me. But then, it makes perfect sense for Armin's character. Armin, who from the very beginning understood and accepted the bleak reality of war, of having to abandon one's humanity in order to accomplish victory. Armin's never shied away from who he really is, or what he's capable of, or tried to console himself with an idealized self-image. It doesn't surprise me that he blames himself for Eren's actions, or takes on as much responsibility for them as he places on Eren. Though one could argue all day against Armin's self-condemnation, I think it makes perfect sense for his character. I also adore how they really clarified and left no room for doubt as to the motivation behind Eren's actions. He just flat out admits at the end that it was because he wanted to "see this sight", meaning a world completely devoid of humanity, of life. He admits to Armin that he's a "slave to freedom", that this outcome came about because of who he is and for no other reason. Not to make the alliance into heroes, not to save Paradis. It was because Eren couldn't accept a concept of freedom beyond what he'd seen in Armin's book. Because, as he says of himself, he was an idiot who came into power. 80% of the world's population died because of that. But as Historia also admits in the end, it's also a result of ALL their choices. I always have maintained that AoT is a cautionary tale of what happens when we blame and persecute and hold accountable people for the sins of the past. Eren, an idiot, only came into that power to begin with because of Marley's persecution of the Eldian's, continuing to punish the Eldian people for the crimes of their ancestors. Indeed, Historia was correct. It was a culmination of all of their choices. Violence begetting more violence, and on and on the cycle continues.
The Jeagerist's created an army out of fear of reprisals from what remains of the outside world, but in doing so, they sealed their own fate. In becoming so hostile to begin with, they ensured those reprisals. That's the great irony. They formed an army to protect themselves, they became a hostile nation, an isolationist nation, and in the end, it lead directly to them being destroyed. As Armin tells Eren, his violence and desire to see a world wiped clean of humanity leaves them with nothing but the lesson of kill or be killed. It leaves nothing but a legacy of continued violence. That's the whole point of this story, of course. That violence only ever leads to more violence. Even when we don't have a choice, even when we're backed into a corner and there's no way out but to fight, even when it's the right and only choice. That's the tragedy of violence. That's the tragedy of the world. That's the tragedy of humanity. It's not that violence is always wrong. Violence isn't always wrong, but it's always tragic, and it always only leads to tragedy. Armin's condemnation of Eren and his actions here, telling him that he's robbed the world of even the small hope of one day understanding one another, that's the condemnation of Eren's violence, the condemnation of the cycle of violence. He pushed Paradis toward armament through his actions, but so did the rest of the world. People will always fight one another. There will always be war as long as there are people. The only way there won't be war is if there are no people, as Armin says, and that's the biggest joke of all. There's no such thing as lasting peace. Paradis meets its demise in the very end because it falls to the same trap, the same cycle of violence, the same cycle of continued hate that drives all war and that, saddest of all, is intrinsic to the human condition. Violence is intrinsic to the human condition, and to nature itself. In the end, Paradis brings about it's own demise, just as, in the end, Marley and all those who persecuted the Eldian's, brought about theirs. This is an anti-war story. That's what it's always been. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. But it's also a story about the tragedy of humanity and the inescapability of our nature as a species.
So, okay, now, because I'm primarily a blog which talks about Levi, and because Levi is probably, far and away, my favorite character of all time, I have to talk about him.
What can I say?
Levi was the hero of this final episode. Of this final bow of what, again I repeat, is the greatest show I've ever seen, and one of the greatest stories ever told.
Levi is a hero.
First, if anyone, if I see anyone ever, ever, ever question Levi's commitment to humanity and to saving it ever again, after watching this episode, I will come down on them like a fucking bomb myself.
Levi saved humanity.
They all did, of course. They all contributed.
But Levi... Levi was the leader that saved humanity. He became the leader in that moment that humanity needed. For all the talk and accusations thrown Levi's way, of robbing humanity of it's greatest chance at survival in Erwin, by letting Erwin die, it was in a time of humanities greatest need that Levi stepped up and took the reigns and didn't let humanity fall.
Levi wasn't the strongest in this battle. He wasn't humanities strongest soldier anymore. He wasn't the most affective in battle, or able to single-handedly turn the tide of the battle, like he might once have been able to. But he didn't let anyone give up. He didn't let anyone give in. He didn't let anyone lose hope.
I've been saying this since the manga ended, but seeing it brought to life like this only drives it home all the more.
Levi rallied and organized and held together his soldiers when they were all ready to give up and give in. When his own body was ready to give in and give up, Levi's heart and will wouldn't. It was Levi who enabled Mikasa to deliver the final, killing blow to Eren by not giving in to despair or fear or grief when it became clear that everyone on the ground was going to turn into a pure titan. It was Levi who, in the end, fulfilled the dream of his fallen comrades of a world without titans, by keeping it together and giving out orders, by abandoning his own driving need to save lives, like he's always done, since the beginning, in order save more, in order to save the lives of people who had done nothing, in fact, but condemn and persecute him his whole life.
Levi is a hero. He's a pure hero. He has the purest heart of anyone. He's the best of them all.
And I think the change they made to Levi's final scene just drives that truth home all the more.
I'm not gonna' lie, I nearly burst into tears seeing what they did in Levi's last scene. To have him sitting there in his wheelchair, his body not even a fraction of what it had once been, but still finding a way to help people, to help, especially, children, again, it drives home without doubt what Levi is. A hero. To see him handing out candy to children, to see the happiness he finds in that simple act... Jesus Christ, I really don't even know what to say about this. It was maybe the most beautiful moment in the entire series. Shit, I'm gonna start crying just talking about it. To see him smile, again, at last, to see him truly at peace. He found a way to be a hero, even with his strength gone. He found a way to be a hero without having to be a weapon, because Levi's heroism was never in his strength. It was never because he was physically strong, or a weapon. It was never because being a hero was easy for him. It was because of his heart. Because his heart is the heart of a hero. His heart is the heart of someone who has only ever wanted to help and protect others. That he still wants to and does help people, despite already having given everything...
Yeah, don't nobody ever, EVER say to me again that Levi doesn't care about humanity. He helps even when he doesn't have to. Even when he deserves to be selfish.
He cares more than anyone.
Man, that's all I have for now. I'm pretty speechless about this episode. I'm just beyond words.
Greatest show ever. Not anime. Just any show, ever. One of the greatest pieces of cinema ever made. One of the greatest stories ever told, with some of the greatest characters to ever exist.
Thank you Hajime Isayama, for giving this gift to the world.

In the Soundwave timeline, how's he gonna take over the world? He and Laserbeak have a groundbridge and some Cybertronian ship, but will that be enough to stop Optimus and Megatron from protecting humanity? Marley and Paradise are working well together so far, especially with Calvi out of the picture and Willy befriending Optimus, so they have a huge advantage over Soundwave.
Part 8: Willy and Lara feelings about Megatron
Soundwave still has Pieck, and I stated before that he will use the technology he's gathered along with using that technology to create a groundbridge (so he's going to be sending people into the Shadowzone), a ship of his own, and Lazerbeak.
But just for fun, I'll throw in Hizuru as Soundwave blackmailing the continent. (In this timeline, Hizuru and Paradis have not made contact.)
With Soundwave's expert spying, he realizes that Marley and Paradis has joined forces, and knowing that will cause a derailment in his plans, needs extra support and fast. He went after the Middle Eastern Alliance and stole their technology because they were the ones who actively stood a chance against Marley's forces. They had the best technology, but because of his interference, the Middle Eastern Alliance are now turning on each other.
(He watches the shit go down as entertainment while Pieck is just mortified at it all.)
So Soundwave knows that he's going to need a temporary army until he can finish his machine to contact the Decepticons. Through his spying, he finds out about Hizuru shady deals and military advancements and decides that they are the best route.
He waits, spies on the locals, finds out more information about Ambassador Kiyomi, the Azumabito Clan, the Hizuru Royal Family, and the country's disdain for the royal family. He learns that the current one was placed there during the loss of the actual heir and the fall of the Eldian Empire. Taisho's father was despised, Taisho himself is hated, Kenshin is considered neutral, but...they all seem to adore Katsuko, the Emperor's wife.
So some OC background that I wanted to divulge in for Taisho and Katsuko since I have talked about Kenshin in the past. Taisho was around during the height of the Marleyan Empire and the scorn and ridicule of the Hizuru Empire. His father became corrupt due to his own dealings to try and get rich, instead of valuing the future of Hizuru. Taisho had constantly witnessed uncertainty, death threats, assault, everything. The only friend he had was Kiyomi, since she was already part of the Azumabito clan. Taisho and his father's relationship was terrible, abusive even. Taisho's only desire is just to survive in this ever changing world.
The only time Taisho was willing to risk it all and throw the crown away himself was because of Katsuko. Katsuko was definitely a low ranking member of society, but she is exceptionally brilliant and deeply compassionate to those around her. She fought tooth and nail to try and learn everything she could for a woman of her time and do her best to hold herself to a higher standard despite her status. One thing leads to another, and she and Taisho meet for the first time, and then continue to meet in secret.
And Taisho...feels safe with her. Initially, he thought she was there for an ulterior motive, but Katsuko never abused her knowledge of his identity or tried to take advantage of him like so many others. Taisho falls and he falls hard. People see Katsuko and Taisho together, and they don't like Taisho, but they adore Katsuko because of her kindness throughout the capital. Taisho's father does find out about this and immediately tries to destroy the relationship, but Taisho finds out and immediately threatens him: if he so much as lays a finger on her, he will never see Taisho again.
Taisho's father still tries, but the public love Katsuko, and his partners do see a benefit in gaining public approval. The father still disapproves, tries to make Katsuko's life in the temple a living hell. But Katsuko's been through worse and just keeps her head held high. This only furthers the kingdom's resentment of Taisho's father. Kiyomi ends up finding out about the father's attempt to downright assassinate Katsuko and stages a quiet coup. Using the diplomatic skills she's been training for, she convinces the other council members of the importance of removing the father and putting Taisho on the thrown immediately for the ultimate future of this nation. Most of them agree, since they've noticed his behavior is out of control. One day, Taisho discovers that his father died in his sleep. But Taisho's not stupid. His father was in perfect health and would've lived a long life with all the luxuries he had. Someone caused his death, and he had a gut feeling who.
"Do you resent me for it?" Kiyomi asked him that night.
Taisho crossed his arms and sighed. "You know how my father was. His love was only for money. Not for his country, not for his dead wife, not even me. I don't resent you for it, Kiyomi. You made a call to protect this nation. You'll make a good ambassador."
"I could turn on you, one day," Kiyomi warned, "If you do something that will ultimately destroy our nation."
"...I'm in your debt," Taisho declared, "If you decide I'm unfit to rule, do what you must."
Taisho doesn't shed tears as they bury his father, and he is made the new emperor without any objections. Katsuko asks him if he's alright, and...Taisho admits that he's terrified. He now has all this power, and he's afraid of who he'll become now that he has it. He doesn't want to be like his father. And Katsuko reminds him that he has the power to be whoever he wants to be. Taisho could have bent to his father's will, but never did so. That was more than enough proof that Taisho was better than him. Taisho is moved and downright asks Katsuko to marry her in that moment, if she doesn't hate him or what his father put her through. Katsuko laughs and says yes.
Now back to the main story. Soundwave knows about Katsuko's favoritism among the public, and decides she's the best way to get the army that he wants. So he kidnaps her, and forces Taisho's to give him an army or else she dies. Taisho's in a tight spot, the council and the public are in terror and disarray. Taisho can't let his wife die, but he now realizes that all the odd occurrences happening in other countries are happening because of Soundwave. Soundwave is the one causing them trouble. And Taisho makes a very calculated risk without knowing much about Soundwave. He tells Kiyomi and Kenshin to run and get help while he bent to Soundwave's command. Kiyomi understands the situation, but Kenshin is terrified and angry, lashing out at his father and calling him a coward!
"You're just going to let mom die?!" Kenshin demanded.
"I am buying my time!" Taisho declared in anger, "We don't have many options! That being has been dismantling governments in the shadows! If we are not careful, Hizuru is next!"
"Mom is our best chance at swaying the public-!"
"As long as she is in his clutches, I cannot take that risk and let her die!" Taisho yelled, "I am not going to lose your mother without a fight! You know that we are limited in options! You and Kiyomi getting help is our best chance at survival! So listen to your father for once and go with your aunt!"
"...Dad...I'm scared," Kenshin confessed, tears forming in his eyes.
Taisho felt his lips tremble before placing his hands on his son's cheeks. "My stubborn and prideful child, that is natural. This is not something we prepared for...In the event of my death and the death of the Empress, you will be crowned the next Emperor of Hizuru."
"Don't you fucking say that!" Kenshin yelled.
"You are the pride and the future of this nation," Taisho declared, "And I have never been more proud to call you my own."
Taisho wants to say that he's sorry for not being the best father and letting their relationship get so strained, but there's not enough time. Kiyomi and Kenshin need to go. Father and Son say their emotional goodbyes, and Taisho does his best to wipe his tears as Kiyomi and Kenshin flee to get help.
(More OC centric, but I've been meaning to talk about them.)

i love levi but him calling yelena a bitch is iscky i hate qhen men do that i think words like bitch and slut should be slurs
lol, well, I agree with Levi, so I'm gonna' have to disagree with you there. Yelena is the literal definition of a bitch. She's duplicitous, she's manipulative, she's cowardly, she's egotistical and suffers from delusions of grandeur. She's cruel. She's selfish. Women can be bitches. Men can be bitches too. It's meant as an insult, but it's well deserved in Yelena's case. Anyway, who even knows what Levi actually called Yelena in the original Japanese. It was translated as "bitch", but that's just an interpretation of what he meant. And like I said, Yelena fits the bill for everything such a word implies. Her being a woman has nothing to do with it. It's who she is that earns her the insult.

Attack on Prime Halloween Anthology: Frankenstein
Main Story
La Llorona
Kuchisake-onna
The White Death
El Silbón
The Krasue
“This one is...quite a long one,” Optimus began as they sat around the bonfire once more.
“Is it going to be scary?” Connie asked.
“I thought that was the whole point of this,” Levi reminded.
“The original story was written over 200 years ago on Earth, but the story has changed to where the original source material is not taken into much consideration at this point,” Optimus explained, “But it is an ambitious story that discusses the dangers of ‘playing god’ and defying nature.”
“I’m intrigued,” Hanji proclaimed before gesturing to the rest of the Scouts.
Optimus turned his attention to the fire, recalling the chilling tale in his mind. “Victor Frankenstein lived a quiet, normal, life with his family, his friend Henry Clarvel, and his childhood love, Elizabeth Lavenza. After he left his home to study natural philosophy and chemistry at university, he became obsessed with the idea of tampering with creation. This obsession was only fueled after the loss of his mother to a heaver fever. He wanted to know if he had the ability to create life of his own, and through his studies and research, he had managed to find the solution.
Victor had dug out the resting places of the dead, and stole the body parts he saw fit to make part of his creation. He cut and stitched the pieces together in his own apartment, and used a machine of his own design, to harness the lightning and thunder to bring life unto this body. What Victor thought he had used to create beauty, turned out to be monstrous. The creature was 8 feet tall, and when brought to life, is revealed to have watery white eyes, and yellow skin that barely concealed the muscles and blood vessels underneath. Victor, horrified by his creation, fled his apartment and called for the aid of Henry to dispose of his mistake. But when they returned to the home, the creature was gone. Victor had fallen ill due to the stress and horrific actions he had committed and the laws that he defied.
After he had recovered, he was informed by his father that one of his brothers had been murdered. Victor believes that it is the creature he created that killed his brother, but someone else is blamed for his murder instead. Because Victor feared for his life if he had explained his actions, he had kept quiet and let the innocent woman die because of his mistake.
Victor is soon approached by the creature, and his creation explains his own story. His confusion, his sorrow, despair, and loneliness. Everyone had looked at him in fear, and even he grew fearful at his own reflection and appearance. Even so, the creature desired to be accepted by humanity. He had found a poor family with a blind grandfather, and aided them in secret, providing necessary tools for them to survive. One day, the creature approached the grandfather, and for a moment, received the acceptance and love he craved, but the family had returned. The son had attacked the creature, forcing him to flee. When the creature returned to the home, the family had fled out of fear of the creature.
The creature cursed himself, and cursed humanity, now accepting that he would have no place among a species that feared him. But most of all, he cursed his creator, for creating him, for leaving him, for not giving him a purpose of his own. Even so, he had still desired to be accepted in some form. The creature made the journey to Victor’s original home to hopefully find answers. On the way there, he had saved a girl from drowning in the river, but the father believed he had intended harm, and shot the creature. This action, cemented the creature’s hatred for all of humanity. He had murdered Victor’s brother and framed an innocent woman for it.
Now, the creature stood before Victor and gave him an ultimatum: to create him a female companion like himself, or watch as the people he loves is murdered one by one. Victor reluctantly agrees, and the creature watches his progress in the shadows.
Before Victor could activate the machine and bring the woman to life, Victor’s doubts came to fruition. What if the woman hated the creature? What if she had her own demands that wanted to be satisfied? What if the two creatures were somehow able to create a new living being and destroy the human race? Victor destroys the body in front of the creature, and the creature vows vengeance, telling him:
I will be with you on your wedding night
Victor had initially believed that this would be a threat on his own life. The night that he married his childhood love, Elizabeth, he had prepared for the creature to confront him. But Victor had misinterpreted the creature’s warning, and he had found the creature choking the life out of his new bride. The creature taunted his creator with the corpse, and Victor tried to attack, but the creature had managed to escape. With his family gone, either dying of natural causes or by the creature’s hand, Victor had sworn vengeance against his own creation. He had hunted him to the ends of the Earth, to the cold and unforgiving winter of the Arctic. Victor had fallen into the ice, but was fortunately rescued by a ship on its own voyage to the arctic. Victor demanded the ship and crew to follow the creature further into the arctic, but the dangerous conditions seen, had caused the captain to reconsider. The captain had decided to return home, refusing to put his life and his crew at risk.
Victor wanted to hunt the creature himself, but his body was succumbing to the elements of the winter. At the time of his death, his last words to the captain were:
Seek happiness in tranquility and avoid ambition.
At his final breath, the creature had made his presence known before the captain. Instead of being at peace at Victor’s death, he is consumed by guilt over the crimes he had committed among innocent people, making him more miserable than his own creator. The creature vowed to take his own life, to prevent the world from knowing of his existence. The captain watched creature jump off the ship and float out to the vast, unforgiven sea on an ice raft. Never to be seen again.”
“...Holy shit.” Jean broke the silence.
“And this was written over 200 years ago?” Armin asked him.
“Yes. The story itself is a much more fascinating read,” Optimus explained, “I am fairly certain that I missed some information.”
“How old was the author?” Mikasa asked.
“Mary Shelley was 18 years of age,” Optimus answered.
“Really?!” Hanji exclaimed, “She wrote that at 18?!”
“Was the creature even given a name?” Eren asked.
Optimus shook his head. “Victor was so frightened at what he created, he fled. The creature had nothing. No name, no belongings, no creator to guide him.”
“So how the hell did it learn how to speak?” Sasha asked, “Does it even need to eat since it’s a walking corpse?”
“I do not remember if that was elaborated on,” Optimus confessed, “The structure of the story actually starts in the perspective of the captain in the arctic.”
“So...the captain is being told the story from Victor, who is also getting the creature’s story?” Armin asked.
“It makes more sense when you actually read the book,” Optimus proclaimed.
“But this wasn’t as scary compared to the other stories you’ve told us,” Eren said, “Why was this so popular to begin with?”
“The creature in the story is what gained popularity and notoriety,” Optimus answered, “But over time, the creature ended up deviating from the original source material to something more...marketable.”
“Do you have pictures?” Hanji asked.
“I do not,” Optimus answered, causing Hanji to slump in defeat.
The Survey Corps still continued to ask their questions about this particular story, and Optimus was more than happy to answer them this time around.
(Frankenstein is actually a really good story, and for those of you looking for a botched summary for class or some shit, here it is.)
