Set in the 1970s against the backdrop of the naxalite movement and the Indian emergency, with some bits shot in Delhi, the movie Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi is about unrequited love & desire, conflicting ideologies & dreams, thwarted personal & political ambitions. When it released in the year 2003, we were fresh out of college, fermenting with ideas, dreams, desires. -- Years later, a lot has changed. More ideas, more dreams, more desires. Perhaps. Perhaps not. --- The movie stars my all-time favourite Kay Kay Menon but he wasn't so much the focus here. Two newcomers literally stole the shine from him here. This is the movie that gave us the handsome and promising (but who could have been so much more) actor Shiney Ahuja and talented Chitrangada Singh, who was hailed as the next Smita Patil. The movie itself was touted a sign of changing cinema with changing times at the dawn of the 21st century. Sex Scandals in B-Town!

The life of a celebrity is always under the scanner, irrespective of their good deeds or bad. Scandals are just blown out of proportion, even something as close to a rumour. Controversies are known to make or break an actor. Here are some of the most shocking sex scandals of the Bollywood industry.

Shiney Ahuja was accused of raping his domestic help in the year 2009. While the star claimed that these were false allegations against him, and even the film fraternity supporting his word, the medical reports proved otherwise, and the case was closed with Shiney admitting to the gruesome offence.

Madhur Bhandarkar was indicted in a rape case for allegedly requesting sexual favours from actress Preeti Jain. The sex was considered consensual as he offered he roles in his movies. Once he failed to keep his promise, Preeti Jain slapped a case against the director. 

While Aditya Pancholi was dating Pooja Bedi, her fifteen-year-old maid charged the actor with rape. Though the news of the case eventually died out, Bedi and Pancholi broke up post the rumors.

Dibakar Banerjee and Payal Rohatgi seemed to initially be in good terms, before Rohatgi approached Banerjee for a role in one of his films. Things turned bad when the director allegedly began to visit her house at night and requested that she strip for him. While the charges were never proved in court, the actress eventually fizzled out of the movie industry.

Shakti Kapoor was in a bit of a fix when he was caught red-handed in an undercover sting operation requesting for sex in exchange for roles in Hindi movies. A journalist posing as a struggling actor, managed to expose Mr. Shakti Kapoor’s schemes. 

An MMS video with Riya Sen and Ashmit Patel managed to sneak onto the world wide web. The actors denied that they were part of the MMS, and their story was backed by people saying that the video was morphed.

Mamta Kulkarni accused the filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi attempting to have sex with her and then snipping her scenes from a movie that they were working together on. Mamta strangely faded away post the incident.

Subhash Kapoor was charged with molesting Geetika Tyagi, when Miss Tyagi released a video where she was seen confronting the director, and his wife was begging the actress to keep the affair a secret for the sake of her son. The video also showed Subhash acknowledging the incident.

Bipasha Basu was allegedly on a leaked telephone call between herself and the politician Amar Singh having some serious dirty talks. While the voice sounds nothing like hers and Bipasha challenging the world to prove the same, the politician admitted that it was his voice on the recording, but had never spoken to Bipasha.

Yuvraj Parashar claimed that filmmaker Onir raped him, when the actor visited  his house hoping to bag a role. The director claimed the sex was consensual, and the actor eventually withdrew his charges. The fact that smiley emoticons were sent from Parashar’s cell phone to Onir’s didn’t help in proving otherwise.
