Day 2 - Vacation / Job

It's time! The Shinazugawa Brothers Week! I may not have had the time to prepare something for all the tropes but I did get my four favorite ones done! I'll be posting them on their respective days.

I'll be tagging everything as spoilers just because I don't know what would count and what wouldn't.

Genya and Sanemi got a break from everything and the older made sure to get some watermelon, Genyas favorite food. As much as Sanemi didn't want his brother to be a slayer, he did cherish moments like these. It reminded him of easier times, times when there weren't only two brothers in the family. Despite Sanemi's rough exterior, he would always have a soft spot for his little brother, even if he wasn't all that little anymore. 

Genya was ecstatic he would get to spend his days off with his Nemi. His eyes lit up when the older walked outside with a plate of watermelons. Genya eagerly took a slice and ate it. Genya didn't notice the soft glance his brother had. One that was solely reserved for his precious little brother. With each moment spent with Genya, Sanemi questioned his decision about keeping Genya away more and more. 

All he wanted was to keep Genya safe after all.

Rules:

No NSFW submissions, this is a sfw and platonic event for Sanemi & Genya.

Not a spoiler free event, you may post whatever you want in regards to the context of the series, but do tag your works as “demon slayer spoilers” “kimetsu no yaiba spoilers” etc etc.

This event is meant to be focused solely on Sanemi and Genya, background characters and ships are valid and allowed, but the main focus of the work is how you see and interpret the prompts and their relationship. Basically, Sanemi and Genya centric only. It can have ships, but can’t be about ships.

heyyo!!

it's almost exam season!! (early june) i've already been barely writing, so sorry for that, but from now on, this is going to become permanent until after all 4 of my (literally 2 hour long) exams are over, and it's also my first year doing this LOL. don't worry though!! i have a very long, detailed fic planned out that i plan to start writing/posting as soon as i exit my science exam, a modern au with dkt and reincarnation and 9 whole arcs (this isn't even speaking about a planned chapter amount) and all that fancy stuff that i think i'm really going to enjoy writing over the summer, if it's not hindered by that summer project TT. i'll also be writing for @shinazugawa-bros-week-2024 at that time, so honestly this reincarnation/modern might get pushed back oops- BUT WILL BE WRITING AS SOON AS SUMMER STARTS.

Day 4 - What if / Canon Divergence

What if Genya had been turned into a Demon much like Nezuko in the canon of the story?

It's an older AU if mine, I posted about it on my old blog here and here. I tried to make them look younger than they would be in canon, before Sanemi became a Hashira. It's also kind of a screenshot redraw of Tanjiro and Nezuko.

To think Sanemi would lose his family at the hand of a demon, one wearing the face of his mother nonetheless, was horrifying. Even more so when he saw his little brother Genya, sweet little Genya, fight off the demon to protect his big brother. As the sun soon came out the demon shading as their mother began to burn and so did Genya. Sanemi moved quickly to cover his little brother with his clothes and ran towards the shadows. He had to keep Genya safe. 

After a few years of traveling the two brothers met Himejima. A kind man. He was a demon slayer and at first wanted to kill Genya. But sekeing the young demon protecting Sanemi, despite the older brothers marechi blood. The slayer was impressed. The two found themselves a place to call home. Sanemi began his training to be a real demon slayer and Genya simply enjoyed his new home. Sanemi was what one would call a protege and soon became a hashira. With the new title came the need to reveal Genya. After a lot of pervasions, the other hashira accepted the friendly demon, some more easily than others. 

After a few more years, Sanemi finds out about a similar demon to Genya. A younger girl named Nezuko turned into a demon and protected her big brother.

Looks like Genya wasn't as different as he once thought.

Day 7 - Memories / Seasons

This took the longest and was the main reason why I only did four prompts. I wanted to showcase the brothers throught the years and how they changed. I decided to add my crossover between Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia for winter. You can read about it on my old blog here or the stories I wrote on ao3 here. I want to do more with this AU again.

Sanemi still couldn't believe the little bundle in his arms, it's been a few months since he got his baby brother and Sanemi loved him. The five-year-old didn't have the words to describe how he felt all he knew was he loved Genya and he was going to be the best big brother he could be!

After Genya was born their mother gave birth five more times, to two girls and three more boys. All five loved their big brothers. They looked up to them. After their father was killed, the older two began helping their mother even more. They would work when they were out and take care of the younger ones when they were at home. Despite how close all the siblings were, Genya and Sanemi were even closer. 

It's been years since either of them had a true home. Both missed the other. They hadn't even talked since that day. Sanemi wanted to keep the younger away from the dangers of demons and Genya wanted nothing more than to be close to his big brother. Despite not being as close as they used to be, they still loved each other. 

After the war, the brothers were given a second chance. One they took eagerly. This world was weird and new but they eventually got used to it with the people they met. Their lives were still filled with danger, given the villains around, but this time they had each other. One could only wonder just how unstoppable the brothers would be. 

Despite everything they would always have each other.

Day 5 - Nightmares / Literal Sleeping Together

This is also canon divergence if you want. It actually goes along pretty well with this story I wrote a bit ago.

After Genya finally fell asleep again, Sanemi held his brother close, despite them not having a lot of space in the small bed. After all of this, Sanemi would never leave his brother alone again. There was no reason to leave again or drive him away. 

They could find a place to settle down and make it their home. They could enjoy the mundane things of life. Eating together, working together and just talking together. 

One thing Sanemi was excited about was something Himejima had told him a long time ago. Soon after the man had taken in Genya he had taken up cooking. Something about his heightened sense of taste made a lot of things unbearable to eat. That explains his eating habits as a child. And turns out Genya was a good cook. Sanemi couldn't wait to try his little brother's cooking. He was sure he'd love everything he'd make. 

Just like how he loved his little brother.

To all the people worried that I won’t do a genmui week I still absolutely for sure going to do a genmui week!! I have prompts ready and all!! I just also really want to do a Shinazugawa bro’s week so I did the poll and while for now it’s leaning towards the brothers, I’d still love to do a genmui week for us all. So if not in the last few months of this year then most definitely early spring of 2024!!

But I’m not making any final decisions until the week is up<3
