Musashi's really surprised me in this Shimosa arc. My first real exposure to Fate alternate Musashi was in Fate Samurai/Remnant even though I had started FGO first a year or two prior.

I just refuse to pay FGO anything so I grind my way through. I did at least know who she was in FSR and how she got there but her fun loving personality hides a bit more depth. I gleamed a bit of it in FSR due to how she treats Iori even if he's not the same one she raised.

The very fact that'd she raised one at all is a telling sign to me. She has motherly or at least parental qualities and no, I do not say that because "herrr herr she woman". No no, I say that because that's just how she is.

It's how her male counter part is in the other timelines of Fate. The soul that is Miyamoto Musashi has the capacity to care for another. The reasons why each would may vary but it is an aspect of their character.

Of course, you get a focus on it in this singularity because of the kids that Muramasa took in. They're a part of this story arcs supporting cast after all.
And for most of the story I saw a similar Musashi to what I saw in FSR. She kind to kids, far too eager to fight, and free spirited but then this lil scene drops. The one I adding in as I type here.

This honestly fascinated me because it tells so much with so little. This Musashi has daddy issues, she feels a strong drive to complete her swordsmanship, and she feels worry for what she does after reaching it.
She notes that many samurai found some way to have a family even on the most superficial levels. You get a hint of her wanting that and, this may be my own conjecture but, I think she feels such things due to her wandering.

Or perhaps her strained relationship with her own father instills a desire for a family they couldn't have. Maybe it is both. I won't know till I finish this singularity if at all.
I just wanted to ramble a bit because I do not have her full development yet. I know how she ends up (FSR) and I think I'm seeing how she becomes a servant in FGO.
But I do like this deeper look. I hope when FGO ends she gets that place to settle down or a chance to go back to her world.

You know, Morgan!Yuu angst is great. However Fujimaru!Yuu is an untapped fountain of angst potential.
Like consider for a moment Fujimaru!Yuu wakes up in NRC and instantly calls out to Mash only to find the Shielder is nowhere to be seen. Everything plays out around the same until Fujimaru!Yuu puts their hand on their Mirror and it tells them, "The Nature of thy soul is... Damaged." Crowley asks what the Mirror means and asks about Yuu's magic, "The potential this one holds is unknown."
Everything places out the same until Yuu is sleeping and they start having dreams which sets off a red flag because Merlin usually ate their dreams (Yuu using Merlin to eat their dreams as an unhealthy coping mechanism.) So they force themself to wake up and look to their hand and see... Nothing... Just the pale flesh of their hand.
The Command Seals are gone, Mash isn't here, Goredolf, Da Vinci and Holmes aren't in their ear talking.
For the first time since they woke up in Chaldea, Fujimaru!Yuu is alone. And they don't know how to deal with that.
(Idk where I was going with this but just a vague idea of Fujimaru!Yuu being stripped from their friends and family and having a no good, absolutely bad time in Twisted Wonderland because their trauma is rearing its ugly head.)
And I am seeing the vision, you have taken me down a path of untapped potential that should've been explore in depth in Shimosa. Especially the realization that Fujimaru was alone in that pseudo-singularity while Shuten was digging through their insides. It was extremely fucked up because there aren't a lot of times when Fujimaru has an inner monologue that is so palpable you know?
However, with Twisted Wonderland, Fujimaru!Yuu isn't given the reprieve of seeing familiar faces masquerading under a different names/occupations (cough Count cough).
And lord have mercy do you know how difficult it probably is for Fujimaru!Yuu to deal with Overblots? Not in a mental sense, they love experienced so much on their journey, have faced Gods that could split the earth 5 times over and yet it was all with the help of Mash, Goredolf, and Da Vinci.
They're essentially trapped with starting all over again and I can't but think of all the ways they unravel at the seams.
#twst#twisted wonderland#scream into the void and i'll answer#Fujimaru!Yuu is suffering a hell unimaginable right now#can we give them a moment of silence?#fgo x twst#Back on Count tho#this man can tear through space and time#and has done so much to save Fujimaru!Yuu#so can you imagine Fuji!Yuu desperately trying everything to get even a sense of connection established between worlds?#that stomach sinking feeling of realizing you are well and truly alone with strangers#banking on their mercy is.... man#free Fujimaru!Yuu 😭😭😭

Hello, I hope you don't mind my asking this... I saw the link you shared for the fgo transcripts, and thank you so much for the resource!! I haven't kept up with the story since Solomon(upto the the grand temple of time,I watched youtube gameplays and the adaptations, then life got in the way) ,and all my knowledge after that is purely by cultural osmosis on Tumblr, and honestly don't have any time or energy to catch up completely
I've been extremely curious about Lostbelt 6 and Faerie Britain though, so I was wondering,is it possible to enjoy it without reading/playing the chapters inbetween? As in skipping the pseudo singularities and lostbelts that precede it? Or does it have too many connected details to make any sense?
Please feel free to answer this publicly or privately whichever you want, I'd appreciate it anyway, thank you!!
I think as long as you realize you're missing out on context and buildup pretty much every lostbelt chapter is able to stand on its own well enough, so if any individual one of them catches your interest it's possible to just skip ahead to that one, especially if you have a friend who can give you the tldr on whatever you missed. I do recommend reading the lostbelt prologue before anything else though because it's fairly short and will give you the basics of what situation you're dealing with in this arc.
if you find yourself with some extra time and energy on your hands, the chapters that give context for the recurring characters in lb6 are pseudosingularity shimosa for muramasa, lostbelt 4 for pepe, and lostbelts 1, 3, 4, and 5.2 for koyanskaya with imo 3 and 5 having the most key moments in her relationship with chaldea.

Watched someone review the two manga versions of Fuyuki. Lots of fair points, the one I have a physical copy of is basic, the anime is kinda better, but the fact they haven’t licensed the other manga is weird. Though tbh I got it for just having my husband in it. But the first part they did before even getting to the two mangas was “Why did both versions have the male protag, they barely ever utilize the female protag and it sucks.” Dude got all the adaptions except ONE anime joke one, Shimosa, and Salem, and the anime joke one was bad. And they never do anything unique with him except in Shinjuku where the girlies got him to crossdress and he then flashed the enemy when ripping his crossdressing thing off, whereas they at least have the girl being a bit more unique. This is why I can’t stand people who are like “but why do people not like the male protag”, this is why. He doesn’t even get the chance to be gay, he has to be absolutely heterosexual so the incels can project when he should be getting railed by a hot dude. They let the girl protag be gay with Mash and having girls into her. And I have an issue with one Singularities manga being very clearly done by someone who doesn’t read any of the character mats (look at how they massacred my boy’s characterization).

{You know the more I think about it the more I find it reasonable that Danzo last words during Shimosa will forever haunt him cause at that point in time Kotaro would be hating himself for being so powerless to stop her. Not to mention that he stated that never once called her 'mother' during the whole singularity.}

What has been your favorite lost shard you wrote so far, and how many chapters are left before we get to the next supplement shard?
Honestly the fluffy shards are my favorites to write aside from the excerpts from Thronebook.
To all who asked: Two fragments before the Shimosa supplement, counting the next one.

EOR Shimosa Singularity: Section 1~Section 4
Now... The first hell shall begin here. With the first quarter of Shimousa.... Can I mention again that this Singularity is still one I hated most thanks to one fucking boss here?!
Without further ado... Let’s enter the inferno... WHICH FOR SOME REASON I CAN’T POST PHOTO ON TEXT POST, SO I’M DOING THIS... WTF TUMBLR?!
Prologue
Begin somewhere in Japan of Mt. Kinbou’s Reigandou... Of an old man Musashi at his final days and hours before his passing. While waiting for a certain person to arrive, he narrates about the bloodshed life he did once known as Miyamoto Musashi.
And further laments of how his life would be different if he didn’t chose the path of Samurai. He wants more time... Which... The start of our Singularity begins
Now in Chaldea, Mash find Gudas in recalling the first New Year event that they met Miyamoto Musashi in their dreams. And then explains the reason which why DW decided to gender bend Musashi, making them completely different person.
Mash then revealed she found the Book of Five Rings written by Gudas’s historical Musashi with Chaldea Staff help. Despite seemingly human, Gudas’s noted her strength wtih any Servant they encountered and summoned. Gudas then decided to help Mash in finding out the difference between the two Musashi they learned of
Kojirou soons showed up, which made Gudas reminded of their historical connection? Though doubts are there as the Kojirou summoned in Chaldea reminds he may not be the same Kojirou that encountered Musashi.
Explaining about the Book of 5 Rings to both Mash and Gudas... The two aren’t sure about their intention to summon F!Musashi. But, she is the same case as Kojirou or similar enough...
Turns out she’s still different thanks to not reaching the final layer as stated in the book, the Book of Void. Though... As they were talking, it seems something has dragged Gudas off from Chaldea... Like the same situation with Edmond Dantes.
Remained in coma, Holmes interrogated Dantes which earned definitely a glare for accusing the same trick again. Dantes left Holmes despite claiming not to help Gudas, the two begin their own to help Gudas in this parallel world
Now that awake in a different world, Gudas finally met the same F!Musashi in their dreams or an alternate world!
Section 1
After explaining how they got here with no ways to communicate to Chaldea... Both recalled the events happened in her trial quest. And also noting that if Gudas died here, it’s safe to assume they’ll die back in Chaldea as well. Additionally, both are in the same boat with Musashi arriving recently in this strange land of “Japan”.
Both begin finding either a village or river to rest while finding way out. While walking, the two stumbled to a young girl carrying her infant sibling on her back. Conversing with Onui, Musashi vaugely guess they’ve arrived during Tokugawa Shogunate period of Japan, particularly Kazusa Province...
Or that’s what supposed to be? Now in Shimosa province, but Iemitsu’s reign? Confusing messy Singularity this is.... But before they could go Onui’s house for food.... Sky darkens, and monster begin appearing... To protect the children, Musashi faces off against 2 Assassin Ghost + 1 Saber Samurai!
The sky turns back to normal after defeating the evil spirits. Musashi then notes this world she entered seems to be the worst of all she previously entered, before joining with Onui to her house.
While heading to Onui’s house... Musashi notes once more how now “bad things” showed up whenever the sky turned dark abnormally and randomly. Again another one showed up right before Musashi’s face, pissing her off further at the Singularity’s situation
Before Gudas were about to be attacked, a mysterious monk saved them. The monk then reveals himself as a Servant with True Name of Houzouin Inshun. Houzouin wonders about Musashi’s mysterious existence after seeing her fight...
And... As expected, he doesn’t believe this is also a real Musashi. Look Houzouin, if anything, just point your spear at DW needing to fetishize every heroic spirit into female.
Right they were to go further in comparing two Musashis history... We’ve got company again. Welp, so much for having a law during Edo period. Depending either Houzouin or Musashi picked for support... Time to see who wins against 5 Assassin Evil Spirits!
And Houzouin wins the match! Or at least she hates losing, so it’s a tie? Houzouin is now convinced that F!Musashi is still the real Musashi from complicated matters.
Once explained to Houzouin from the beginning... It’s back to the same thing with Servants showing up in Singularity. Houzouin has no idea who or what has summoned him since 2 days ago.
Believed to have a Holy Grail like every Singularity, a new quest decided by Gudas to find the Grail and end this Singularity. Houzouin also then noted how M!Musashi wouldn’t help Gudas for free unlike F!Musashi decided.
But first thing first... Time to get Onui and Tasuke home safely before the next set of evil spirits showed up again.
Switching to an eerie temple.... The strange sorcerer revealed their motive of summoning 7 different Heroic Spirits in order to destroy this Singularity. Caster of Limbo also revealed of an additional Curse of Annihilation embedded in the Heroic Spirits... Which begins the plan of turning the sky to crimson
As noted that Crimson moon makes thing worse, the group quickly make haste to bring Onui and Tasuke to safety.... Which unfortunately, they got surrounded by the evil spirits.
However, with Gudas’s command seal glowing... You can now use your own Servants to fight against 5 Assassin Evil Spirits + 1 Black Saber Samurai!!
Slaying them down one by one... We’re good! Thanks to earlier fight of Musashi and Houzouin, Gudas gotten their ability back to use their Command Seal again. However, a strange Female Archer showed up and attacked the crew. Along with the six Heroic Spirit Swordmasters appearing before them...
Assassin of Paraiso, Inferno Archer, Rider of Karasutra Hell, Berserker of Samghata Hell, a mysterious Swordsman and Caster Limbo... Yep, things just perfectly turned for the worst!
Targeting Houzouin for some reason, Gudas and crew are defintely outnumbered! But reluctantly, Gudas followed Houzouin’s order of him as a decoy with his Noble Phantasm while they ran for safety.
Fighting against the swordsman alone while the rest watches... But unfortunately even with fatal blow, Houzouin lost to Saber of Empireo. Bound by Caster of Limbo’s spell... Houzouin had become one of them!!
Section 3 & 4 (DISCONTINUED)
Admittedly... I lost all that I wrote and I’m lazy to rewrite them. Because it took until my phone battery nearly died out.
But... FUCK YOU TUMBLR! So next time, it’ll be like this until tumblr settle its shit

i really feel like EoR peaked with shinjuku and that salem and agartha in particular wanted what it had. if i want a mystery that isn’t contrived and frustrating i’d just read shinjuku and if i want a compelling servant betrayal i’d just read shinjuku- not to mention it being the only one where the gameplay doesn’t turn into a complete slog.
#switch speaks#fate#reading salem felt like reading an extremely long list of excuses#of course agartha has other problems besides that#and shimosa is easily one of the singularities of all time

acaelusstern replied to your post “I drift away from Fate a lot but then I’ll do something like think...”
Then you do stuff like chloe's interlude and...
I’m sorry, who? I don’t know of any “Chloe von Einzbern” character and I certainly don’t recall any terrible event they might have come from...
#acaelusstern#really tho#nothing killed my interest in fate like the Agartha singularity coming out#between that and the awful summer events#my interest in the game has been so dead#im glad nerofest and shimosa are finally coming

You can skip Epic Of Remnants to Part 2, but there's a clear connection between those "anthology stories" and a correspondence main interlude chapter (".5") in between the main plot of Cosmos in the Lostbelt. Think about it for a minute (the following cut has spoilers up Traum 6.5):
Salem’s Foreigner's story is the beginning of what seems to formally conclude (at least it apparently) with Imaginary Scramble, an event that's informally referred to as "4.5," a forgotten incident that took place during the test run of Nautilus before the crew of sailed to Atlantis. Oei's and her dad's quest was an in-between bridge. Without Raum's Gate of Fiction and his makeshift of the Foreigner Class, none of this would have happened. Meanwhile, the CCC collab, Seraphix (the 'Extra' Epic of Remnant), and the Main Interlude now, are connected with Ooku, also referred to as the "3.5" chapter that takes place between the Chinese and Indian lostbelt. Beast III incident, with R manifesting L, and Kiara's beat as villain and "ally" later is covered here.
Now both are clearly missing the "clear" message, but TM could add them later because neither are the main interludes yet. Perhaps they will be added or isn't important. Salem's clear message was: "The Conclusion of (Divine) Judgement." While the collab was "Foundation Restored. Order Complete" like the original Singularities. However, Shinjuku and Shimousa's storylines and references to the ending do get referenced.
Shimosa was "Grand Slam" (Complete Victory/一切完勝), a reference to a sport's victorious championships in a promotion: could be tennis or wrestling, or other disciplines. Now “Golden Finish” (Removal of Maliciousness/悪念切除) plays with this reference because Gold Slam (sometimes Golden Finish in tennis) is is what you obtain by winning four Grand Slams. That wasn't a reference to Musashi alone as it seemed, but Chaldea clashing with Douman. Four times in total: Shimousa, India Lostbelt, Olympus, and finally Heian Kyo. Four is the final defeat, Golden Finish. It plays up with Kintoki but references Limbo's story. Shimousa then is connected to chapter 5.5 which eventually becomes one of the main interludes once cleared. Much like Shimousa, there's also a martial and fighting theme and a historical Japanese setting.
Shinjuku chapter connects to another of those "dot" interception story chapters-turns-into-main interlude after clear: 6.5 Traum. There are some similar themes like the fantasy/fictional heroes and those Phantom existence introduced in Shinjuku, and a focus on the battle between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty. Shinjuku ends with Holmes joining Chaldea, while Traum is his farewell and death (the fictional existence of the Holmes that you knew, at least). But what draws my attention is the final message. While the Shimousa's Grand Slam/ Heian Kyo's Golden Finish are thematically linked as a continuation of each other and validating further, Shinjiku's Quod Erat Demonstrandum swirls and turns into Ex Falso Quodlibet in Traum. Very very ominously. We're leaving a story with a conclusion that we demonstrated with proof to a story full of contradictions and, once proven, anything can follow of sorts. This was to understand Holmes' nature, but is it just Holmes's nature?

From the Epic of Remnant's stories, there's only one left without a ".5" connection yet: Agartha (and the ending message was "Happily Ever After"), but perhaps Traum already covered the theme of fantasy kingdoms to retreat it, or maybe only Higashide and Sakurai were permitted the stronger main story links with their Epic of Remnants.

End Description.]
It's been... 5 months since the last Bond 11 achievement? Whoa. And I wasn't exactly expecting Shii-chan to be the next one. But I'm not complaining either — with everything that's happened, it's nice to see a friend from 2021 give back yet again.
Thankie, Shii-chan. Thankie for kicking so much ass.
The following story (song and all) is for you.
------------------------------
Musashi could still remember the moment Vy saw through her lie as Iori. Even when she was faking a smile and trying to put on her best brave face, all Vy did in that Las Vegas Singularity past Robin's protective arm was smile quietly.
"It's nice to meet you then, Iori-san," she had said back then, gently nudging Robin's arm away to step forward and offer Musashi her hand as an olive branch through handshake. "I look forward to working with you if you're just as cool as Shii-chan."
Cool, was what Vy said. Not "reliable," not "hardworking," just... cool. And even with the shame that flooded her at remembering the Grail-cooked udon that started the whole Las Vegas mess, Musashi took it with a laugh that felt genuine coming out of her throat. It was hard enough not acting on the urge to hug Vy that day, because her sundress and cute straw hat made her look more adorable than what Musashi remembered of her back in Shimosa, and Shimosa Vy hugged Musashi constantly.
Even now, with her Saber self as a whole other being in Novum Chaldea and her own existence as a Berserker solidified through Holy Grails, that sense of fond surprise hadn't changed at the sight of the rare rainbow flame being offered to her again.
All it takes is three rare prisms, they say...
"Little riceball," left Musashi in a breath caught between a laugh and a cough, her swimsuit straining against her skin from the effort as she met Vy's confused eye. "Again with this?"
"Why not?" Vy retorted, sounding close to offended if not for the sparkle in her bespectacled eyes. "Not everything you've done has been a screw-up to me, Shii-chan."
Musashi froze.
Without skipping a beat, Vy took a step forward to take both of Musashi's hands in hers, slipping the Bond Chalice in between their intertwined fingers as she smiled a softer, kinder, loving smile. "Sure, you making that Grail-cooked udon might've caused some trouble," she went on quietly with a shake of her head, "but it still let me meet you, Shii-chan. It let me bring you to Novum Chaldea, let me hug you every day like I wanted to back in Shimosa when you were the same as your Saber self." With a giggle, Vy raised her head to meet Musashi's eye with that same sparkle in her gaze. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that, well, I wanted to give you this Bond Chalice because it's you and you've done plenty of good too!"
Is that why—
It took Musashi a moment too long to realize her nose was starting to itch, and taking one hand to swipe at it revealed its fair share of snot and tears starting to emerge on her features. "Vy... you'll kill me with those kinds of things..."
It didn't stop Vy from pulling on Musashi's hand to wrap her arms around Musashi's neck, being careful of her swords, and Musashi stumbled. It was easy to see Vy struggling to keep the gesture up from the height difference, her legs trembling thanks to standing on her tiptoes, but when Musashi swiveled her head in Vy's direction, the little riceball merely tightened her grip. "No," she said in a harder voice, something thick outlining her tone that Musashi definitely didn't hear before. "No dying on my watch, Shii-chan. Absolutely not. One world rejected you before. I'm not doing that to you. So no dying on me."
With a laugh of her own, Musashi reached over with both arms to tightly wind them around Vy's waist, keeping the Bond Chalice clutched between her fingers as she lifted the petite Master up in the air. Vy was yelping, sounding absolutely adorable, and Musashi let her self-control fall to the wayside as she turned her head to press an affectionate kiss to Vy's cheek through the tears starting to blur her vision. "Only for you, little riceball."
Only with you does this place away from home still feel like home.

Alright so here’s the most notable changes I’m making in this FGO fanfic AU:
Obviously River as our focal character/Grand Master! And his whole deal... Also Brier, Fakkir, and Adam joining the team as we go into EoR.
Also obv the relationship between River and Romani and previously with Aim and Solomon.
Alt Alcides/Heracles. She’s PHH’s Alcides/Heracles in this AU and has a similar deal to Artoria where history just chose to remember her as a man.
Whatever the happened in Rome Singularity... That’s getting at least 60% changed.
Instead of Heracles in Okeanos, it’s Ajax who happens to look a lot like Berserkules. Jason notes that he tried to summon ‘Heracles’ but Forneus had Medea convince him to not for... reasons.
Since Cu Alter is already River’s Servant at the start of the Singularities, in E Plurbus Unum Medb has instead used the Grail to make Fergus her king and the story focuses on Cu facing off against Connacht again and coming to terms with himself, sicne Cu Alter represents the ugly side of the story of Cu Chulainn in this AU.
Also, in E Plurbus Unum I’m not putting the Hindu Servants or Nero and Elizabeth in there. [coughs bitterly in Native]. I’m putting NA Indigenous Heroes in there instead. I love Geronimo so he’s staying center stage.
A lot of Servants are getting design changes in this AU. I mean... it’s an AU, so. (Included but not limited to: Quetzalcoatl, Caeneus, Kamadeva, Parvati, every child Servant esp Abby omfg)
Agartha is also being overhauled.
Yasuke in Shimosa as the main companion to the crew and coming back in Heian-kyo.
Many parts about Salem are getting changed or rearranged, not because I didn’t love Salem but because the events in it are key for my segway into Lostbelts.
Napoleon and Beowulf switch Lostbelts. It makes more sense for Napoleon to be in the Russian LB and Beowulf in the Scandinavian LB to me.
Instead of Atalante Alter, there is Catherine the Great who’s trying to coup Ivan and afterwards help the Yaga. I mean she became empress after a successful coup and she was Russia’s longest reigning Empress.
That’s all I’ll set down for now. I have a lot of other huge stuff in this AU, but these are my ‘disclaimer’ points!
...I still need a proper title for this AU...
#fgo au#master oc river olivarez#master oc brier forge#master oc fakkir arroyo#mage oc adam arroyo#servant oc alt alcides/heracles

Hi, I love your art but I'm kinda new to your AU. How did gudako get the scars? They look cool and I feel like they are important.
The face scar was from get by a crow bar during a robbery. This was before she came to Chaldea so it predates all of the others.
The bite mark on her right arm was from a Chimera during a Singularity (Broke her arm).
The scars on her left shoulder are sword wounds.
The one on her stomach is from Shuten during Shimosa.
She does have scars on her back but those are just from miscellaneous things

dekirukoto asked “Hey, Fuuma-kun. “ Makoto walked into his room, holding a cup of green tea he was to offer to the Assassin. A moment later, and Makoto spoke again. “ We’ll see Danzo again. I promise. “
✦ ─ ━ Ѕһɩɴоβɩ For once he wasn’t in his spirit form but in his solid form as he gently gets the cup from his master there, of course he wouldn’t expect less from her mother there. She was famous so the chances that she would be summon to the throne was highly probably there but that still doesn’t change the fact that it stings....a lot. ❝My lord.....even though she stated that she was a ninja without a soul is nothing but a hollow blade, that is nothing but a lie. Mother always had a heart and a good one, the fact that she wanted us to stop the problem is proof of that. ❞ He gave a small hum and glance at his tea with a somewhat sorrowful look, it was already eating himself up by this point anyway. ❝Even though she was on the enemy side.....she tried her best to do the good thing and as a ninja it’s hard following the righteous path but she tried...and even that....i couldn’t save her, I couldn’t even call her mother during our adventure. Maybe I....maybe I failed as both a ninja and son to her. ❞
