hihi !! i’m still figuring out how to use tumblr in general but i figured the best way to christen an account is with an introduction post.

about me -

i’m reid! i’m a neurodivergent trans bisexual shifter who uses strictly he/him pronouns. i’m an aquarius and turn seventeen in february (08 baby). i live in california and i speak mostly english and a little french.

i’m the number one x-men fan, i call myself the irl spiderman, and i’m dan and phil’s love child who spends the weekends with hannigram.

i absolutely love movies and it’s kind of my dream to befome a screenwriter one day in this reality, as i’m an aspiring writer and future english major!

my shifting journey -

i began shifting in 2020 when dracotok was a thing (although i didn’t really participate in that) and began posting edits of my drs on shifttok in early 2021. i had many different tiktok accounts over the years, but in late 2023 i restarted my old account reidshiftss and started posting nearly daily until now — that is, if tiktok is banned.

I'm sending my annual Actual Consequences Christmas ask early this year since I just got done reading the whole saga! :D The Cullens know about Fred; how does that go down? Do Em and Rose ever come to an agreement on surrogacy, especially if Carlisle figures out that the surrogate COULD survive? What about Esme? Have Leah and Sammy progressed to marriage and/or kids? Have more shifters phased--perhaps Jake's daughter Sarah? What's Aro up to, considering that the Volturi aren't evil tyrants but ARE amoral royalty? I'm just always so pleased with your creativity!

Fred is really leery of the Cullens (or really, Alice and Edward who go to find him) at first, since he was 'raised' in Victoria's army and they were painted as this super powerful, super evil coven, but the two talk to him, even if they can't see/look at him, explain their family, their lifestyle, express their sympathy about how he was treated by Victoria and Riley, etc. Fred drops his guard, asks if they know what happened to Bree. Edward grimaces and explains, but Fred is moved by the bit about Esme and Carlisle sparing her and trying to adopt her, and he agrees to meet them.

By the time Christmas rolls around, he's a friend of the coven. Fred was a science student, and so he and Carlisle instantly bonded. Edward is lowkey jealous, because not only do they relate as science nerds, Fred looks like he could be Carlisle's son (tall and blond). Edward doesn't really doubt his place as Carlisle's beloved son, but he's got the brain of a 17-year-old so he angsts about it a bit. Fred is super shy and introverted, though, and so isn't interested in joining the coven, but does show up for Christmas, which makes Esme happy because the thought of him wandering alone is too sad. He's attempting vegetarianism (and Carlisle's pride about this is another reason Edward is feeling jealous), but he's not doing it for moral reasons so much as having to interact with other people even to kill them was just ugh, so awkward and unbearable. Fred prefers being alone and hunting in the woods.

But Fred's still learning, so no humans at Cullen Christmas this year. They do FaceTime or Zoom or whatever with Charlie & Sue, Renee & Phil, etc. Also check in with Jake and his son, Will, who phased last year. Seth has been showing him the ropes and he actually thinks the wolf stuff is pretty cool, but was relieved that he didn't have to kill Fred (and the Cullen, now knowing that vampiric presence triggers the change, convinced Fred to stay clear of the area). Leah and Sammy are married and talking about having a family. I personally think Leah's fertility problems would go away once she stopped phasing, but in the interest of drama and honoring canon such as it is, perhaps it is a Journey for them and eventually they realize it has to be Sam who carries the pregnancy. They think about asking Seth to be the donor so that the child can be part Leah, too, but Leah doesn't really want to pass on the werewolf genes, so they get an anonymous donor instead. The other Sam and Emily adopted a daughter several years ago, and recently have taken in two boys who are actually Sam's much younger half-siblings from his father, and the whole pack thinks that maybe this was the purpose of the imprint: no biological kids with her, but still raising two possible future wolves who needed a home. They've taken to calling her "Momily." She loves it.

With Carlisle and Rosalie back in the USA for the Christmas holiday, their research on hybrids in Volterra has taken a break, and Aro is now . . . left to his own devices. He of course knows everything they know, and is intrigued by the thought of how powers might be passed down to offspring. Joham's was not gifted, so none of his children are, but what would Aro's own children be like? Demetri's? Only one way to find out! And Carlisle's not around to tell him it's an evil idea and the women will probably die. I don't want this to get TOO dark so let's say that Aro and Demetri go out and seduce women and tell them they are vampires and if they survive the pregnancy they will become vampires too so there's SOMETHING approaching consent vs kidnapping random women. Aro is waiting until after the holiday to call Carlisle and tell him there are two pregnant humans that will need his skills if they hope to survive. No pressure thought! Totally up to you if you want to come back to Italy, dear friend!!!

(Witnessing the horror of the pregnancies will take surrogacy off the table for Rosalie and Esme, I think.)

What else? Oh. Renee. Aro hasn't forgotten about her and her potential mind-control talent, but he's been so preoccupied with the hybrid stuff it's on the backburner for now. But he has sent Heidi on a special mission to Florida. She's joined Renee's book group (they conveniently meet at night) and they are becoming fast friends. Heidi is hard to resist, after all, and next year she will propose a girls' trip to Italy. How does Alice not see this? Well, another new member of the book group is named Serena. She's Joham's daughter. Alice can't see hybrids.

Witch AU where village kid catshifter!Tommy starts developing magic.

It’s terrifying, sure. But he’s friends with the SBI coven, and they’ll surely take him in — though they don’t know he’s a shifter, they’re still kind.

So Tommy’s stunned when Phil flat-out rejects him.

“They’ll notice if a kid goes missing.”

*Not me,* Tommy almost says. That’s part of the problem. He’s barely able to stay in the village now — let alone if they discover he’s a witch.

But he still can’t bear to tell Phil, with his new magic so weak it’s only a liability.

“Phil, I can’t— I need a place to stay,” Tommy says, bordering on fearful frustration. “I wouldn’t ask if we weren’t— friends.”

*I thought we were,* he thinks. After all the times he’d played with the twins as a kid, Phil smiling & watching over them. 

He must've been wrong.

“No, Tommy.” Phil’s voice is soaked with frustration, too. “I can’t take care of you. Not if—”

He cuts off. Tommy still hears it.

*Not if it endangers my real sons.”

And, filled with a broken rage, Tommy snaps. 

“If you send me back, I’ll tell them where you live.”

It’s an empty threat. 

That must be clear, with how Tommy’s shaking, on the verge of tears. But he must’ve underestimated how much Phil loves his sons.

And how much he *doesn’t* love Tommy.

Because, voice humming with magic, Phil utters, “You won’t say *anything.*”

Tommy opens his mouth. 

To apologize, to beg, to tell Phil the truth. *I love you. You make me feel safe.* 

But of course, nothing comes out. 

Just like Phil wanted.

The worst part is, there’s only relief in Phil’s expression. No regret.

Not until Tommy stumbles back, shaking as he tries to form apology after apology, clutching uselessly at his throat. 

And even then, there’s only regret in Phil’s expression when Tommy turns and bolts.

(“He’ll be safe.”

That’s how Phil consoles his sons, comforting them with the idea of Tommy back at the village, warm, fed, and protected.

They don’t notice the cat huddled beside their house, pressed desperately against the wall.

Not until it sits silently on their doorstep.

And Tommy… Tommy’s okay with this.

At least he’s with them. Even if he can’t speak, can’t risk shifting back, can’t even purr when they hold him close — closer than they ever did when he was a filthy, skinny kid. Even if he’s still terrified of Phil.

It’s still worth it.)

It’s… not that hard for Phil to find out.

How that tiny, scrawny cat only curls up with Techno & Wil. How he hisses at Phil, no sound coming out, trembling violently.

How, when any danger arises, the cat that reminds him far too much of Tommy is willing to die for them.

But there’s still a final straw.

Tommy’s reckless. He’s not a normal cat, sure, but it’s still easy to accidentally knock bottles from counters. But unlike a cat, he doesn’t wait for Techno’s precious work to fall and shatter.

He shifts into a human, barely catching it.

He should’ve been alone.

Should’ve. 

But when he pulls himself back up, bottle in one shaking hand, Phil is staring at him.

“Tommy—”

Tommy runs.

Phil had made it *painfully* clear. 

Tommy’s a danger to his sons. So much of a danger that he’d rather shut Tommy up than risk any chance of hurting them.

And Tommy almost can’t blame him. Because, desperate for a place to live, he goes right back to the village.

But he should’ve known what would happen.

Kids that go missing for months? They don’t come back right. Especially kids like Tommy who were already on thin ice, sneaking into the woods at night where witches lived.

So all Tommy gets is a crossbow bolt right through the shoulder.

He’s done.

There’s no way to survive this. At least he was able to hide from the villagers, the curse keeping every pained cry inside his chest. But now he’s bleeding out on the forest floor. Alone.

But not for long.

“Tommy?”

Techno. Then, Wilbur, falling next to him.

And asking questions he can’t answer. “Oh god, what happened? Where were you? Why— fuck, Techno, why is he— why’s he quiet?”

Funny. If Tommy could speak, he knows what his last words would’ve been. Not an answer.

Just, *I love you.*

But they’re not his last words. He wakes, swaddled in blankets and bandages, back in the cottage he’s wanted to call home for years.

And the first thing he sees is Phil, sitting at his bedside.

“I’m so sorry.”

If Tommy could speak, that would’ve shut him up.

But he can’t speak. And so he thrashes, desperately trying to sit up. To run, maybe? To flee before Phil—  before he— 

And then Techno appears in the doorway, utterly pale.

“Dad, he’s… he’s been cursed.”

Silence.

“Cursed,” Phil repeats slowly. Like— like he’s not the one who did it. 

And that lie just keeps going. As Techno & Wil tend to Tommy’s wounds, gathering ingredients for a spell to heal him.

As they, as a coven, break that curse.

The spell works.

It does. Tommy can feel his voice, tucked back from where it’d been torn out. He can feel the coven’s eyes on him — Techno & Wil’s, hopeful, and Phil’s… unreadable.

So he’s still too terrified to speak. 

“Tommy?” Wilbur leans in, taking Tommy’s hand, on the verge of tears. “Oh, Toms, can you— did it work? Can you—”

“I’m sorry.”

Tommy keeps his eyes on Phil, even as the man… shudders?

“I’m sorry,” he rasps out again, voice choked and ugly as every bit of grief pours out. “I never would’ve— would’ve— told them. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, please, please, I want to stay—”

Phil climbs to his feet, fast — and for once, Tommy can let out a panicked noise.

Even as the man stumbles away, face torn with grief.

And disappears.

(But Techno & Wil stay. 

And in their embraces, Tommy crumbles. Every truth that was locked behind his lips comes rushing out.

*Every* truth. From, “I love you,” to, “It was— it was Phil.”

And Phil… Phil doesn’t know what to do.

But he knows he’s *willing* to do anything. To make up for that horrible, brutal mistake, to take care of the kid he’s always loved like his own — even if it was hard to admit.

And maybe, just maybe, that’ll be enough to atone.)

Missa seems stunned, slow to approach before his curiosity wins and he comes to lay a thin hand on the egg that might be the last free member of its species. Phil watched the same feeling win him over, his face softening around his skull into gentle affection.

Phil reaches out one of his hands to wrap Missa’s in his own, asking an impossible question. “Are you ready to embark on another adventure with me, luna?”

“To the horizon and beyond, dearest sol.”

Phil discovers a crimson egg while on his daily rounds foraging for himself and his drow husband, his bleeding heart leading to him taking it home to raise the dragon properly away from the elves who wished to harm him, enslaved to a harsh King who ruled with an iron fist.

An enemy of history, much of the noble Dragon Knight Syndicate had been decimated in an effort to wield them as weapons, forcing them into his service through cruel means as a way to enforce his laws. This Light elf never agreed with this mindset, rescuing his injured husband as his first act of defiance and adopting a dragon as his second, he hoped to guide the future into a more peaceful story while enjoying the love of his family.

Expandedverse: Species Notes

Non-exhaustive, but some notes on the more common species :)

Nether Demons: The main race inhabiting the Nether. They are not really demonic entities, just humanoids who have evolved to survive in the Nether. The form they take is fixed, and can vary from looking extremely non-human (like Bad) to looking only slightly different from your average human (like Kara). Notable individuals: Bad, Kara, Eryn (hybrid)

Trickster Demons: Shapeshifting demonic entities who can take on any form, but usually choose one unique form to represent themselves. Rare, and stigmatized, they will often try to blend into society. Their true forms are more stereotypically demonic - spade tails, bioluminescence, horns, dark sclera, etc. Notable individuals: Tina, Travis, Grunk

Seafolk: Humanoids with aquatic characteristics - usually fish-like, but they can be dolphins, axolotls, etc as well. They are capable of living on land, but need to be considerate of different living requirements and accessibility. They are a single-sex race and gender identity is chosen as a coming of age thing, and is also flexible. They can be found everywhere, but are native to the Ocean Empire. Notable individuals: Lizzie, Jimmy, Cooper, Sally

Avians: Humanoid bird hybrids with small stature and large wingspans. Like seafolk, they come in all shapes. Their small bodies and hollow bones allow them to be more agile in the air, having less wind resistance than the average human. They live in pretty much every corner of the world. Notable individuals: Phil, Quackity, James

Sheepfolk: Shapeshifters who have two forms - anthropomorphic sheep, and sheep humanoid. Their anthro forms are usually short and fluffy (just think about Rammie). They inhabit the overworld and aren't limited to any one area. Notable individuals: Puffy, Schlatt, Mikey

Not a species, but a note on non-demonic shifters: they are only capable of shifting between two forms - typically one humanoid and one non-humanoid. They are either born into a race with this ability (like sheepfolk), inherit it through genetics (like Fundy), or are gifted the ability by a deity (like Connor).

Phil stores his sons during a fight, revealing his true nature to them. Caught up in the moment, he doesn't get a chance to explain to them and falls asleep. When he wakes up, they're inconsolable.

Phil wakes up with the sun on his face, covered in blood. That's never a good thing, but it's especially a not-good thing when one is a giant with adopted human children who doesn't immediately remember the previous day's events. He blinks dazedly at the sky, the taste of raw human still faint in his mouth and panics as the worst conclusion instantly plants itself in his mind.

His heart pounds and he sits up fast; worry, shame, and grief working their way into every nerve when the memories rush him like a flood.

Oh. Fuck.

At least I didn't digest my fucking kids, he thinks hysterically. He can feel them in his storage, huddled together and probably - no, definitely terrified.

Guilt curls unpleasantly in his gut, somewhere between the soldiers and his sons, and he squeezes his eyes shut.

"Boys?" He whispers. "Are you...?" He can't bring himself to finish the sentence - of course they're not okay, they're probably losing their minds.

He can feel them shift around. It's silent for agonizing seconds until there's a small, half whimpered, "Dad?" from inside.

His heart leaps, and then promptly crashes as he hears a whispered, "Tommy! Shut the fuck up - ! " accompanied by a struggling sensation in his storage.

He experimentally lays a hand across his midsection and gently rubs circles into his brood pouch. They jolt away from that part of the storage and press themselves into the opposing wall. Hot shame climbing his throat, he reluctantly stops.

"Hey, hey - it's okay, everything is okay," he gently murmurs to them, trying to imbue his words with as much love and reassurance as he can. "You're all safe; I would never do anything to - " he trails off guiltily. He's already hurt them. Pathetically, he finishes, "I love you. So, so much."

He slowly stands up, painfully aware of how his movements are affecting them.

They've never been in his brooding pouch before and this has been a horrible introduction. He never wanted to store them in the first place ( - a blatant lie. He had wanted this days into taking them in - ) and this has been exactly why. They see him as a monster now. They witnessed him massacre an army; thought for an entire night that their own father had eaten them - they waited that long to digest!

He breathes, trying to steady his rushing heartbeat. They can hear it, that's the nature of storage pouches, and he doesn't want them to know how scared he is.

"Give me ten minutes, okay? I'll bring you out soon." He speaks calmly, sounding more controlled than he is.

He doesn't have a giant toothbrush, he notes numbly.  There's gristle and blood undoubtedly stuck in his teeth, and he knows without checking that his breath smells like meat and death. He stares at his hands in dismay; they're caked in flaking, dry blood. His clothes are ruined. He doesn't want them to see him like this.

A cruel voice in his brain reminds him that they already have.

He walks a steady pace to a nearby river - at his size, closer to a small stream - and begins to clean himself off. He got rid of all his giant sized clothes when he took in the kids, reasoning to himself that it would be more trouble than it was worth hiding them for a few decades when he spent nearly all his time pretending to be human anyway. He regrets that now, regarding his bloodstained shirt and jeans. He rinses his mouth - once, twice, six times - and does his best to brush and clean with his fingers and watery reflection. He picks a few bone fragments from his teeth and tosses them into the river, before remembering that the twins love to play there. He stares at the water in horror and hopes neither of them ever stumble across the remains.

Well fuck, he thinks to himself. There's nothing I can do about that now.

He takes another look at his reflection. Most of the blood is gone and his mouth is considerably better than before, but it's still - it's not good enough. It will never be good enough.

How gross is his mouth right now? He cleaned what he could, but what if there's still blood clinging to his teeth? They'll see it when he brings them back up. They've already seen it. They saw it after he'd just eaten twenty or thirty people, they thought that he was trying to do the same thing to them -

He inhales sharply and blinks back tears.

He's a monster. They see that now. He has to face the music.

He makes his way back to the cottage. He stops on his way there to stare at the blood soaked field his rampage had taken place. There are still bits and pieces of people lying on the field. He regards the sky, feeling numb. They're due for rainfall soon... and the local wildlife will scavenge the loose meat. There's nothing else to be done except hope that the kids don't come out to the field between now and whenever it looks less fucked up and bloody. He continues to the house.

When he arrives, he kneels before the front door and tries to muster the courage to speak with his kids. He stares at the house for longer than he should and he can feel them nervously stir in his gut.

"Boys?"

They don't respond. He hadn't really expected them to.

"I... You don't need to be scared of what's about to happen," he begins gently. "It'll feel like a pull. Don't resist, alright? It's - it's okay if you do, I understand if you do, but please try to relax."

He can feel them moving, standing up and shuffling about in a panicked kind of way, and before he can second guess himself, he starts to bring someone up.

The muscles in his storage clamp down around a figure, and the screaming starts. His heart pounds wildly and he has to fight himself to keep going. They're struggling - he thinks it's Techno - squirming and wriggling, which is bad enough on its own, but fighting too, punching and kicking back. He flinches at the sharp pain, his eyes starting to sting. The tissue lining his storage tube is soft and easily damaged (because normal parents don't terrify their children into tearing them apart from the inside), and whoever is coming up is determined not to make the journey easy. He goes quickly, unwilling to prolong this for either of them, and when they finally reach the top and tumble into his mouth, it's all he can do to not spit them into his hand. They taste like Technoblade, confirming his suspicion. Tech is still fighting, punching at any surface he can reach, and being particularly harsh with Phil's tongue.

He forces himself to go slowly now. He brings Techno to the front of his mouth and cups his hands at his chin. Before his mouth is even fully open, Techno is clawing his way out. He lands in Phil's hands and scrambles up, blinking dumbly at his father with a slight shake in his body.

Phil stares at him. "... Hello," he rasps out.

Technoblade snaps from his stupor, shrinking backwards only to flinch away as he hits Phil's curled fingers.

"Oh - okay, okay, I'm putting you down - I'm putting you down," he sets Techno in front of their door while stumbling over his words. He leans back, giving him space. "You - you should take a shower."

Techno never take his eyes off Phil, retreating slowly and grasping blindly for the doorknob. As soon as he finds it, he's gone, and Phil sighs defeatedly.

He massages his throat, wincing in pain. It'll bruise and possibly tear, but he knows he deserves it.

He clears his voice. "Tommy? Wilbur?"

They still.

"Your big brother is fine. Someone else needs to come up now," he explains tiredly. "Please, please don't squirm. That makes it more difficult for both of us."

He starts the process again. Something is very wrong. The lump coming up is too big, has too many limbs and - fuck. They're coming up together. His eyes widen as he realizes, but it's too late now, and he knows there's nothing he can do if this is what they want. They're hugging each other, which makes it harder to move or attack him, but his throat burns from the stretch of bringing up two of his brood at once.

They fall into his mouth, still clinging to teach other. They're silent but shaking and Phil feels a fresh wave of shame collapse over him. He brings them forward and opens his mouth, gently releasing them into his palm.

Wilbur holds Tommy in a vicelike grip, his eyes squeezed shut and Tommy's face buried in his chest.

Phil resists the urge to inspect them. He keep his fingers a respectful distance from the pair, knowing that any kind of touch is traumatic right now.

He clears his throat again, and feels how torn up it is. It burns when he speaks and his voice sounds like a creaking door. "You're okay... open your eyes."

It takes a few seconds but Wilbur peeks. He opens his eyes wider, in awe of the sky and nature, though his grip on Tommy never ceases.

Phil starts to move them to the porch but Tommy squeals and curls even more into Wilbur's arms, causing him to freeze instantly.

"Sorry. Sorry," he whispers. "I'm just putting you by the house. I - I'm sorry."

They're silent and still.

He starts to move again, painfully slow and tense.

He deposits them gently on the ground and as soon as he's a safe distance away, the door swings open and Technoblade grabs Tommy by the leg, literally dragging him through the door. Wilbur scrambles in after, falling over himself to get away from Phil. The door shuts with a resounding slam, and Phil can't help but flinch away from the noise.

He stares at the house for a few seconds before shrinking down into his human form. Thirty minutes later, he gets up the nerve to knock on the door.

The covenhead, Phil, is especially eager to accept him into their ranks because he knows few other vampires with the gift of batshifting. Even the vampires he sired, Techno and Tommy, didn't inherit the trait he cherishes so much.

Wil feels extra guilty when he finds this out because he's bonding with Phil on something thats a half lie but its been so long since he's had any semblence of a family and he can't help but bask in the paternal affection the vampire offers so freely.

Obviously he eventually gets found out and turned. After all, its alright if he lied about being a vampire before because Phil can just make it the truth :)

Let's say that Charlie and Renee stay together, for better or worse. They have several children, and let's say that Bella is smack dab in the middle. (Perhaps Bella not being the eldest/only child somehow changes Renee's mind.) Even if everything else is mostly the same--Bella meets Edward, he can't hear her mind, etc.--how do you think she'd fair with a bunch of siblings? Bella is supposed to be uniquely kind and selfless, so having older siblings (to learn from) and younger siblings (to protect) would bring her whole "no one would miss me" thing into doubt. Or do you think she'd still justify leaving/turning--"well, they all have each other?" Would Bella be able to understand the Cullens better if she also came from a big family? Or would she want to leave all the more, to be special in a way a middle child isn't?

My immediate thought was that Bella would suffer from 'middle child syndrome' and believe that no one would miss her because they barely notice her anyway. It's pretty clear that in canon she has low self-esteem even before the comparison to Edward and the Cullens' outrageous, literally inhuman perfection makes her see herself as weak and ugly and unworthy. I could imagine something like that still existing and her feeling lost and overlooked in a big family, whether or not it was actually true. Edward's singular focus on her above all others would be intoxicating. Finally, she's someone's favorite!

All that said, I would like to think it would give her pause. In canon, she has virtually no family. Both her parents are only children so there are no aunts or uncles or cousins. All her grandparents are dead. It's just her dad, mom, and step-dad. She's giving up three people and frankly I never got the sense she was close to Phil at all, so two people. And then she gets to keep Charlie at least anyway.

Written by SM, she'd probably get to keep her siblings in her life somehow. One of them would for sure be imprinted upon by a shifter. You just know that would happen. Probably Seth imprinting on Bella's youngest sister. That just feels like something SM would do. Maybe, maybe, if the stars were aligned just so, SM could have given up Jacob/Renesmee and could have gone for Jacob/Bella's little sister instead, but I don't think the odds are in our favor there. So probably Seth. Maybe she gets to keep her siblings in her life because a few generations ago a Swan married an Ateara so "we're family" or something and they get to know all the shifter secrets because Bella gets a perfect piece of forever.

Watching her little siblings age past her, grow old, and die would be a whole other issue though. And then her nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews . . . assuming she was close to them at all, it might weigh on her, or maybe she becomes like Luca and wants to change some of them. You'd think the other Cullens would overrule that though, they are already too large of a coven, hard to blend in, on the Volturi's hit list, etc. But again: SM lets Bella get the cushiest vampire life imaginable so who knows.
