Judge: Does the defendant have any special requests?
Suikotsu: Death penalty.
Bankotsu, from the gallery: Suikotsu, it's just a parking ticket.
Suikotsu, whispering into the mic: Please kill me.

You can't have a pride event without Jakotsu! So here's them braiding Bankotsu's hair-- and gossiping like a couple of lovestruck teens as if they aren't cold-blooded killers lol

“Be Crime, Do Gay!”
He’s not the brightest crayon in the box, but he loves all the colors of the pride flags. Jakotsu is one of my OG fixations and the only one to be canonically gay. He’s a fave, but a problematic one. Still I stan a Queen.

Renkotsu last moments.
As a Renkotsu fan, I draw him before being murdered. Always thought that he suffered a lot, cause in the anime, he was kinda hoping get out from the mercenary life, but he didn't cause he was loyal to Bankotsu.

Bankotsu vs GN Nekojin!Reader (hanyō)
Content warnings: reworked one-shot from 2012-14 era of internet; Not romantic/enemies-to-lovers; blood mention/bodily wounds
Word Count: 1,847
.
I ran through the forest, nearly smashing into trees and bushes. The blood of my latest kill dripping off my claws and through the bag that held his head. Proof. Or I wouldn’t be able to receive my earnings. I worked for a wealthy landlord. The bitch is actually my best friend believe it or not, but I sensed she was jealous of my freedom. Yes, the feudal lord was female; she ruled using her dead husband as a figure head. Anyone she saw as a threat to “her husband’s” power was killed.
“Neko-chan,” I heard my Lady say. I landed on the balls of my feet in front of her and kneeled. “I see you completed your assignment,” the sing-song tune of her voice was a melody, an annoying one, but still comforting as a sign of being home. She hugged me around the neck fondly and we spun around her garden until she stopped.
“Yeah, his guards completely sucked but it did kill some time.”
She glanced down at the bloodied bag in my hands and smiled at me. “Hmm, yes well; there hasn’t been any real rivals recently. But something urgent has come up,” the serene look on her face faded. She held my hands in her small pale ones. “The neighboring feudal lord has decided to try and overthrow “my husband” with a band of mercenaries. I would like you to annihilate them. One by one of course!”
“Ouch, a band of mercenaries against one. Really, Rin?” I raised my eyebrows and placed a hand on my hip. “How many are there?” Five wasn’t that bad of a number for me but still a lot of work. I shrugged.
“Seven, I believe there are seven.” I rolled my eyes. It was a new job; I might as well take it. “You are my best ninja; I’m sure you can finish this.” I waved her goodbye and headed to my personal cottage behind Rin’s royal garden to dispose of the severed head. Occasionally I felt like a pet, but I got treated better than servants and got some luxury out of it. It’s true though; I even wear a scarf with Rin’s family crest on it. I figured I would leave the compound again tomorrow evening.
My shoulders slumped and I heaved a large sigh of relief when I relaxed in my little bath house. “So, I hunt down and gather information on a group of seven mercenaries…” I said to no one, and I stripped out of my clothing. The water sloshed around me when I bent down into the water. And a sudden realization hit me. “What?!” The Band of Seven. Could Rin really be that confident in my abilities? Bull shit, this is my life. I can’t have doubt in this. I chose to stay, so I’ll stick with it.
Twilight. The sun closed her eyes and sunk down past the horizon. The moon began to shine with her ghostly face. I tried falling asleep after my bath but plans of how I was going to take down seven of the most notoriously gruesome mercenaries of this decade raced through my mind. What were their habits? Do they even sleep? Maybe I can poison them; did they have a poison specialist with them? Weren’t one of them supposed to be a humanoid tank? There were too many thoughts running around in my head that I wasn’t allowing myself to sleep.
~~~
For the past two fortnights or so I studied each Shichinintai member. The most troubling ones would be Jakotsu, Bankotsu, and Renkotsu.
Tonight, I followed Jakotsu his weapon would be difficult to maneuver around; several sharp blades that wrap around and kill their opponent. My breathing was too rapid and raspy at the thought of fighting that thing.
It’s a little more traditional to take out the weakest members first but if the group didn’t have their leader, I took it the group would be at least a little disorientated. And that would be enough for me to kill of the rest. I shivered and my pulse raced. I needed to slow down.
From the shadows and height of the canopy in the trees I kept my distance, but I could see Jakotsu was meeting with Bankotsu. “Did their names have to rhyme,” my head lulled back as I thought about just addressing them by name. I wish we could have met on better terms though. Besides the killing everyone indiscriminately, they genuinely seemed like carefree guys I wanted to get along with. Maybe even join, if I decided I wanted to retire from Rin’s estate.
Undercover of the night, I drew closer; they were meeting at Hoshi bridge…
But Jakotsu needs leave…
“Hey! Bankotsu!” He waved. “Are we supposed to meet up with the others at the… uh…” He’s only third in command, not very bright either. I rubbed my temples at the thought of this man ever outsmarting me.
“I think it was the riverbank. But that’s tomorrow; I’ll catch up later.”
“Huh, oh that’s right…” Gacha. Bankotsu’s feminine brother left after a brief apology, and my target was alone. I struck my opponent from a distance. Cold metal flew from my hands, a flurry of knives from my grasp. My knives didn’t make contact with his body though. They hit his enormous halberd. Both shimmered in the moonlight.
“Hey!” Bankotsu shouted out. “If you fight me, I prefer head-to-head!” Bankotsu’s halberd sat loosely on his shoulder, and he swung it around just above the wood of the bridge as a show of how easily he could move it. The giant halberd caused the wood to creak and splinter when he tapped it down.
Nothing. I did not answer; if I did fight like that I would certainly lose.
After moments in silence, “Gah, wimp…” he pouted so openly. What a child…
I obscured his vision from the dim moonlight with smoke bombs and jumped down from my perch. I hung to the bottom of the bridge and swung up to land behind him. I spun dragon tail sweep to the legs, but he barely stumbled; it felt like I was kicking a rock. I kept my face hidden in my scarf. I tried to strike his vital points with a few needles, it wasn’t too hard, but he still got my arm wrapped in his.
Snap. “Hngh!” With a little tug of his bicep, he overextended my elbow and broke my arm in two. He was stronger than any regular demon I’ve met. Bankotsu kicked his foot up into my diaphragm and the wind in my lungs escaped from me. I coughed profusely; it hurt to breathe.
He lashed out at me with his massive Banryu, trying to drain my blood or, most likely, maybe cut me in half. No, he was destroying the bridge. Wood splinters flew everywhere, and rope dropped as his blade slashed through. By then, I had the feeling that I’ve already lost. I certainly am quite stupid to try and eliminate the leader to a group of mercenaries.
The bridge fell apart, and we tried going our separate ways, but the cracking and crashing signaled our descent down into the valley below.
I tried to land as gracefully as possible, but I continued to stumble through the air and then onto my feet. The impact made me fall onto my back. In the dark, the Shichinintai leader landed safely. Since this was true, my assignment wasn’t finished. Well, I did start my attack today, and I’d still need six more heads to take after his.
His landing was near my own. I couldn’t let him get away or else he’d be prepared for me next time. But as I motioned towards the valley’s walls, I couldn’t move. A sheer cold shot through my entire body. I looked down at my torso and Bankotsu’s halberd stuck out, stained in crimson. My blood. My clothes got soaked and clung to my skin.
I was nearly chopped in half. The momentum and velocity of the falling blade became a makeshift guillotine.
“Haaa, that broke something…” Through the dust that picked up, I felt his cobalt eyes stare into me. He found me. He may have been bruised and cut but he’s more mobile than I hoped. I aimed needles at his neck; anything would help; a pressure point I was hoping to hit and make him unconscious. My attempts were in vain as he grabbed them from the air as if they were moving in slow motion. I needed to remove the halberd quickly. But if I did, would I survive? I’m not a yokai; these human parts of me left me weaker to bodily damage.
Ugh… I motioned to get up, but his foot planted itself into the center of my chest, painfully above my slashed torso. “You’re my assailant aren’t you,” Bankotsu said with a smile. “Nice to finally meet ya. What’s your face look like?” He proceeded to remove the scarf covering me as I struggled to force his foot off me. “Hn, you’re a demon,” he looked almost disappointed. “You know most yokai are the monstrous type but looks like you’re one of the exceptions.”
A twinge of irritation poked at my nerves. Through blood spurting out of my mouth and wounds I could gurgle out, “Hanyo… I’m half nekojin.”
“Really. No wonder you’ve barely got fangs.” I last saw his face with a nonchalant smirk as blood continued to ooze and pool around me. My vision turned into a black void. “If I killed you, I wonder if that would count towards my Banryu’s demon to human body count.”
~~~
I woke up to see the early morning sun. A chill ran across my torso, and I looked down to a scar marking my newly healed flesh. I lay under a tree; the broken destroyed bridge meters away, parts of it were swept away in a river. My head rest on the slow-moving chest of Bankotsu and the eyes of an annoyed Jakotsu watching me… “Uh, hi…”
Bankotsu’s cheery voice reverberated through my skull. “Hey! You’re awake! You were supposed to kill me, right?” I nodded through a groggy daze. “Well, that kind of sucks; I helped wrap your wounds but,” he drew out playfully, “you’re gonna have to die.” He helped me?!
My eyebrows furrowed, “Thank you… but you’re the one who’s going to die…” I rose up and pulled a blade from a pouch on my calf. A last-ditch effort.
And the world became stained a bloody crimson again.
A snake wrapped around me in the form of swords connected by little pins. Jakotsu’s face showed nothing but boredom with a little twitch of his wrist, his Jakotsutō contracted and sliced deep into my flesh. My vision fully disappeared, my thoughts, my control, my senses; everything was sliced to bits. The last thing I heard was Jakotsu whining about how he had to wipe off the blood of a nameless assassin from his blade and if they could leave now.

I'm considering putting a few snippets from my Shichinintai/JaBan drawerfic up on my writing blog.
Since I do most of my writing at weekends, poking at side projects on my phone during the week doesn't really affect my update speed: I'm a slowcoach no matter how much/little I write. 😛
Of course, this will have to wait until they're at least halfway readable. Unless my readers have a very high tolerance for bold ALLCAPS red text, placeholder lines, stage directions and sarcastic comments. (My early drafts are almost always chaos.)
(No, I never really stopped writing about them, although it's been over 4 years since I last posted any fics for this ship. It's just that everything I really want to write is a multi-chapter fic and I've already got my hands full trying to finish Bend and Don't Break. Which will probably take me at least another 3 years at the rate I'm going. 😭)
