Small steps - And loads of entrepreneurial collaboration! I got to know Imran as a hairstylist about 6 years ago. Over the years Imran and I have watched & encouraged each other’s journeys - taken baby steps, learnt from experience, grown in our capacities and enjoyed the entire process ! Like co-travellers on the same journey we have shared, chatted, laughed and even consoled each other through various phases. This year Imran finally launched his own Unisex Salon in Sector 2, Panchkula. A spontaneous conversation between us resulted in this amalgamation of two businesses. 'Abstract Dualities’ That’s what the team loved to call this project! Every space here has contrasting materials, colours, shapes juxtaposed effortlessly and then highlighted by appropriate lighting. Take this living room for instance - the powerful Iron frame of the partition with softwood shelves; random abstract shapes that make smooth, free flowing wooden ceiling and vibrant furnishings placed against the neutral walls and traditional furniture frames. 'To do or not to do...' - TEAL was the question! One of the first visions that we had when we entered the bare Apartment was that this particular wall just HAD to be an aqua blue family with a mirror fixed on it! It was an instinctive feeling we wanted to hold on to and one that we were very persistent about. Sometimes, just one colour can transform a space in a home! The longest discussions we have had with the clients @riteshtrikha and Nidhi Trikha, along with their wonderfully participative kids Arnav Trikha and Amay, were whether this wall should be taken in this particular colour or not! ☺ And what a beautiful feeling it is as Designers when clients decide to trust your vision and flow with your suggested idea even after their initial scepticism. This, by far, turned out to be our favourite space in the home - and we hope the client will enjoy many many happy reflections here! What makes it extra special is the fact that the white cabinet is a complete remodelling and renovation of a storage cabinet that Nidhi's parents had gifted her years ago! @prashant_bhat_photography - thank you, thank you and thank youuuu for capturing each space so very appropriately and justly always! There was a lot of excitement to have hanging lights from Tiffany's, London in an apartment that we have loved working in! There is no other space that depicts the different shades, moods, shapes of our concept better than this particular space in this home - the fleeting, darting movement in the passage lights, the 'wave' flow of the storage cabinet, the patterns and boxes of the partition. All gently aided by the delicacy of floral abstracts in the glass of the kitchen door. Definitely our favourite space in this home! This has been my “one to infinity” bucket list! Obsession, Passion, Madness, Risk, Outrageous confidence - I don’t know what it can or will be called...All I know is that I wouldn’t be ME if I didn’t do this in my lifetime. Introducing the HOLISTIC DESIGN GHAR for Design, Creativity and Communication classes for kids (age 5-12).. I firmly believe that - (1) For children to grow up as fine individuals, a HOLISTIC educational approach is what we need to be looking at... (2) Young minds that grow up in an environment of good communication, aesthetics and creative thinking grow up more humane and lend more to society... (3) Kids are capable of responding, relating and learning Design appreciation and thinking even at very small ages... (4) When kids are connected to Nature & appreciate each aspect, it leads to unprecedented growth in their mindset, makes them more aware as individuals and pushes them to contribute in more meaningful ways... Eventually life IS really all about communication, connection, expression - And ‘Design’ is everywhere! With HOLISTIC DESIGN GHAR I am trying to combine Basic Design Education with Communication Skills, Language, and of course - learning from and appreciating Nature.
