oh my god my parents almost fell for a facebook scam.
someone they know posted that they were selling a car and my parents asked me to help them send a down payment over paypal.
thank GOD they asked me instead of just trying to do it themselves.
#at first i was like oh ok yeah. i can do that ig? i already have paypal. i can use your card to do it.#then suddenly his paypal wasn't working. and he wanted it sent to his 'coworkers' paypal.#and then he said to use Friends and Family. and i was like yeah this is for sure bullshit guys. if we do that we cannot get it back.#like if i send this to this person. we're screwed. and i had to explain it to them and i feel bad because now they feel stupid :'))#BUT literally while i was explaining. they were messaging this scammer and then Real Guy's daughter posted that his account had been hacked#like woah. nice job aerie. saved your parents $500.#sighs for two hours#that was sort of stressful.#if i had just done what they said without thinking we'd be out $500. like.
