the thing about venti is that he doesn't embody freedom so much as he nurtures it. venti is who he is today because the people taught him to love and he returned that tenfold. the people were the first to teach him autonomy and freedom, and his response is to protect that ideal
I just really love mondstadt's relationship with their "absentee" archon a lot. there's something almost poetic about how just by being themselves, they sort of "created" their own god. a wind wisp became their archon by observing and living with them (ofc I'm oversimplifying it)
as described in freedom sworn, it's the anemo archon who actually takes on his region's characteristics, not the other way around. it is not that mondstadt is the nation of freedom because of venti, but that venti is the god of freedom because of mondstadt. and now you have that same archon asking what I will argue is actually the best quote of genshin, "what is freedom when demanded of you by a god?"
#mine musings#liveblogging genshin#of course the same can be said about neuvillette and furina though a bit narrowed down since furina taught neuvi to love humans#but furina/focalors herself loved her people so much that she conceptualized her idea of justice around them#just as venti conceptualized his idea of freedom around mondstadt#sorry i am forever stuck in v1/prologue lore but can you blame me. hoyo is dragging out the venti lore relevancy at a snail's pace#even though we KNOW he's gonna be relevant in the end game#same with albedo and mona like hoyo please just give me something about them

MELUSINES ON THE MISSION
pairing: neuvilette x reader
synopsis: he takes you to Merusea Village for his birthday as a friend, leaves the village with you as his significant other. All thanks to some wingwomen- no melusines.
contains : reader is a baker by profession, fluff, wingwomen melusines, whipped, lovesick neuvilette, mutual pining, corny, neuvillette can deal with anything expect romantic feelings and gestures, spoilers for 4.2 story quest, references to his birthday letter.
a/n : happy birthday to best boi neuvi. he is deffo a lovesick dude and you can't change my mind.
sequel of this fic , but can be read as a stand alone.
Neuvillette stared at the calender, eyebrows knitted together, pen twirling in his slender fingers.
"Should it be in spring? No that would be inconvenient...same holds true for autumn." He grumbled.
"My Dear Ludex, What's got you so tensed?" Furina chimed in, taking a glance at calender.
"I am trying to settle on a day to serve the purpose of being my birthday." Neuvillette sighed. If only he remembered the actual date. Furina took the pen from his hand and randomly circled a date without sparing a glance.
"18th of December? Why so?"
"My dear Ludex, this is such a trivial matter! Don't waste your energy on this. We must save it for the thrills of the court!" She patted his shoulder and walked off.
18th Decemeber.
That was today.
Neuvillette recalled while signing some documents he had received this morning. He finished up his work and turned around to arrange all the files and declutter the cabinets.
When he glanced back, he saw a small gift on the edge of this table. A smile crept up onto his face as he peeked a bit further to see the head of a melusine sticking out.
"You can stop hiding." He mused as the melusine slowly revealed themselves. Slowly but surely more melusines emerged out of their hiding spots.
"Happy Birthday Monsieur Neuvillette!" They all cheered as Neuvillette had a hearty laugh. The strict and straightforward Chief Justice had a soft spot for the adorable creatures and went to lengths to assure their safety.
"Thank you all. I appreciate your kind gesture." He smiled and picked up the small gift delicately and unwrapped the present. His ears could pick up the melusines muttered amongst themselves.
"...ask him."
"No you ask him!"
"Ask me what?" Neuvillette looked up to see the pleading faces of the Melusines. Yup, they were most definitely trying to persuade him into agreeing to something and Neuvillette knew he couldn't refuse.
"Will you come to Merusea Village this time?" They asked but it sounded more of a demand than a question.
Neuvillette paused. Of course they would ask that. He hadn't visited last year due to the chaos in Fontaine and the death of Focalors. He couldn't bring himself to celebrate his birthday after her death. This time, he agreed on it.
"Sure. I will make sure to extricate myself of my duties and come to Merusea Village." He reassured the Melusines, who bounced up and down in excitement before scurrying out of his office.
Neuvillette sat down and began making preparations so that he could depart worry-free to Merusea Village without any problems arising.
He found his thoughts drifting towards you. A promise he had made you a month ago.
"My schedule is full for the following month. However, I will be sure to pay you a visit after that." He recalled his words to you. Neuvillette had now made up his mind. He was going to take you with him to Merusea Village for his birthday and let all the melusines meet you.
He couldn't help but long for that queasy feeling with stirred in his chest everytime he was in your proximity. He would feel jittery and his palms would feel clammy and sweaty everytime he saw your beaming smile and witty remarks that never ceased to amaze him.
Well that was easier said than done.
"Would like to accompany me to Merusea Village?" He said before facepalming. "No that would be too straightforward...I might sound authoritative and I don't wish to given off that impression..." Neuvillette had been pacing back and forth in front of the bakery and had been rehearsing the past 15 minutes.
He remained apathetic towards the people who would gasp and mutter at the sight of the Chief Justice's unannounced appearance. "Hello, it is my birthday today and I would like you to accompany me to Merusea Village." Neuvillette said before groaning in annoyance.
"No..if I were to straight away declare that it is my birthday then, it would sound self-centered of me." He muttered, his hand on his chin. "Ah, Yes. Greetings, it has been a long time since we last met. According to our public pronouncements, it is my birthday today and since I take out time each year to visit Merusea Village, I would love for you to accompany m–
"It's your birthday?" You gasped, your sudden appearance catching him off guard. You could see him tense up before turning around and awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
"Uh erm- yes." He fake coughed to compose himself again. "You should've told me, Monsieur! I would've prepared you a special cake!" You suggested. It would've made up for a good and genuine gift.
"No need for it. I was wondering if you would accompany me–"
"To some place you visit every year on your birthday? Sure! I was just finishing closing up the shop for the weekend, so yes I can accompany you!" You chimed at him. Spending time with Neuvillette, that too on his birthday!? Now that was opportunity you weren't letting go.
You weren't going to admit that you had taken interest in him and wanted to get opportunities to get to know him better but since he was a busy man, this was a perfect opportunity!
"Then let's leave, shall we?" He offered his gloved hand to you. You reached out to take it but he retracted his hand back and instead gestured in the direction you had to walk towards.
You could see his ears turn pink as he started to walk away. You were about to hold his hand? Then why did he back away?? Right someone as high and mighty as the Chief Justice won't settle for a ordinary baker–
You shook your thoughts away and followed him.
"Monseiur Neuvillette is here!" The Melusines erupted into cheers and circled around him. You could see him smile and pat their heads. Neuvillette's smile had swept your heart off its feet. Your heart swoll at the sight of him smiling, heartily laughing at the swarm of Melusines. Dare you say, you were trying to stop your face from turning red.
"Everyone, meet [Name]. They are my friend and I presumed you would all love to meet them." He gestured towards you as the little melusine heads turned towards you, judgingly.
"Um- hello." You awkwardly smiled. The Melusines seemed to have marked you off their suspicion list considering they had now dragged you away to indulge in their silly activities.
Chasing other melusines, laughing with them, sitting around the bonfire, making flower crowns, it seems like you had a whole new world. You took the crown to Neuvillette. "Monseiur Neuvillette! Look!" You ran up to him as he turned towards you, with a smile lingering on his face.
"Is that a flower crown?" He mused, inspecting the bundle of flowers. You nodded and reached up to put it on his head. However, as you were putting it on his head, you both found yourselves gazing at eachother, fondly.
His eyes said so much despite his face showing so little. You two were unaware of the conversation between the melusines in the background.
"Oui oui! Monsieur Neuvillette definitely likes her!"
"Oui! You are so right, he looks at her in a certain way!"
"Should we help him?"
"Yes!" They all agreed.
"Monseiur Neuvillette! [Name]!" All of them yelled. You and Neuvillette snap out of it and turn your faces away, both of your cheeks flushing a shade of red.
"You guys should stay for a bit longer!" The Melusines tugged on your clothes and his robe. Eyes widen like puppies. Now how could you refuse to those cute faces.
"Sure! I would love too. It is the weekend anyways." You nodded and Neuvillette also agreed.
Now the plan was in full swing.
Neuvillette went inside the accommodation the melusines had prepared. He walked over to the desk and spotted a neatly kept letter.
Dear Neuvillette,
I wish to tell you that you are really pretty and I find you interesting. I can't seem to find the courage to express it though.
Sincerely,
[Name]
His face flushed red as he did a double take, flipping the letter to assess its legitimacy. The Melusines peeped through the small window, seeing his reaction.
"He is blushing!" One whispered.
"Huh? I never thought those cheesy and corny sentences would actually make him all flushed." Another marveled
"I tried my best okay? It's hard to act like that girl considering we just met her." The third nudged the other.
"You think sending them fake letters is going to work?" The fourth asked.
"Duh!" The first 3 yelled at him.
You, on the hand, were reading the letter given to you over and over again.
Dear [Name],
You seem to have captured my thoughts. I find myself thinking about you every passing moment. However, I don't mind this feeling.
Sincerely,
Neuvillette.
You giggled like a high-schooler with a big fat crush on a ficitional guy. Who knew the Chief Justice was so lovey-dovey! How endearing.
"The plan worked!" The first melusine beamed.
"Both of them hopeless." 2nd one sighed.
"Hopelessly in love!" 3rd one snickered.
"Let's wait and watch." The 4th reminded.
The next day, you both were busy with groups of Melusines, chatting and playing yet both of you kept catching glances at eachother and looked away in embarrassment.
The Melusines rejoiced in their plan of fake letters to both of you, working. This kept on going. Both of you would find a letter in your room each time you came to freshen up or rest.
You and Neuvillette found yourselves blushing and feeling clammy at the letters, unaware of the true sender of these letters, until...
Meet me by the lake, 9pm.
As planned, both of you reached the lake, looking around to find the other. When you caught sight of Neuvillette, your breath was taken away. His white hair framed his fair perfectly and his eyes shined in the moonlight.
"Hello.." you started.
"Hello to you too." He replied. Well this is awkward.
"So um..do you truly believe I am- uh pretty as you mentioned in the letter?" Neuvillette asked, refusing to make eye contact. How fascinating that a man of status and authority is reduced to a flustered mush infront of the person he wishes to be with.
"Huh- what letter? I don't remember sending you a letter." You tilted your head in confusion. You received letters but you never wrote any reply back.
Neuvillette's eyes widened. "Then who sent- oh. The melusines.." he sighed, pinching his nose. "I am so sorry for the inconvenience." He apologized.
"Oh.." you sounded disappointed. So it was a lie then? Neuvillette said any of those sweet words which you had read in the letters. You could feel your heart break and chest ache. How did you manage to fall into this rabbit hole of loving the Ludex of Fontaine only to have your hopes crushed.
"What did they write in the letters given to you?" He calmly asked after a brief moment of silence.
"They said that you kept thinking about me and how you liked me and didn't mind the feeling...it is fine though! I am glad it is a lie hahaha." You waved your hands dismissively.
"..it is true." He blurted out. In his mind, it was now or never.
"Huh?" You stared at him, dumbfounded.
"It is true. I am indeed infatuated with you." You could visibly see his face flush pink. After your brain computed the information, you also turned red.
"I- I feel the same-..I always thought that I was too plain and simple for your liking.." you awkwardly muttered.
"No. It may be inappropriate of me to say this but..I believe that you are just perfect. You are perfect the very way you are, [Name]." The words effortlessly rolled off his tongue, though his flustered face told another story.
You hugged him without a warning, nuzzling your face into his chest. The hug felt warm, like the ocean hugging you with their waves as the sun dawned its warmth on your skin. Neuvillette wrapped his arms around you. You could hear his heart thundering against his chest.
"You like me that much huh?" You wriggled your eyebrows, with a teasing grin.
"Let's not bring that matter up." He huffed, trying to maintain his calm and composed composure. Oh he definitely was feeling giddy but why admit it?
"We will miss you!" The Melusines whined and fake cried, clinging to your legs as Neuvillette chuckled.
"Well, let's leave, shall we? It is a long walk back." He asked you, a soft smile on his face, his smile lines crinkling. Oh Archons! If only you had a Kamera on you.
"Mhm!" You nodded. He, again offered you his gloved hand, which you took into yours as you both started your journey back.
This time he didn't back away. Instead, he took your hand firmly in his and walked away, together, with you by his side.
a/n : happy birthday dear Neuvillette. Gosh i love this man so much, it's unhealthy. I can listen to him talk for hours about different tastes of water.

favorites
it was clear to anyone with eyes that within Fontaine, your favorites remained the Melusines. Not even the favor you showed Furina compared to the favoritism you showed the Melusines.
you'd willingly consume countless of Sigewinne's milkshakes with a delighted smile, sighing happily at the happy smile she gave in response.
You'd consumed so many milkshakes that even Wriothesley was starting to get worried about you.
"Your grace... maybe you'd like tea instead?" He offered as Sigewinne brought the milkshake she makes specifically for you! He shot you a look of concern as he sat next to you, ignoring the pointed look Sigewinne gave him.
"Mmmm, how could I ever?" You refused, not wanting to see your beloved Sigewinne upset. "Sigewinne made it specifically for me, I shouldn't refuse her gift."
Wriothesley's concerned look only grew as he could see your face pale at the first taste.
"Mmmmm, it's very delicious. Thank you Sigewinne." You thanked her, smiling happily at her as you shot Wriothesley a side glare warning him not to say anything.
Wriothesley snorted off to the side as he turned his head, taking another sip of his tea.
Your pocket watch, a gift from Neuvillette himself, made a beeping sound and you fished it from your pocket to look at the time. "Hm. It's about time with my scheduled tea time with Furina." You mused as you sighed and started to get up.
Your smile remained bright as you bid Sigewinne goodbye. "I'll come back as soon as I can. In the meantime, make sure to give Wriothesley all my milkshakes." You snorted at the sound of horror behind you.
"Come back soon, Your Grace!" She waved at you goodbye as you started to walk past Wriothesley.
"You know you don't have to see me off, Furina and Neuvillette are waiting for me at the top entrance for the lift." You remarked, still smiling.
"What kind of Administrator would I be if I didn't see Our beloved Creator off?" He commented, falling into pace with you easily. "Maybe I should cause havoc to get a daily tea party with you?" He remarked, looking like he was thinking.
You looked at him with surprise before laughter left you.You clutched your stomach as you covered your mouth to muffle your laughter, tears of absolute joy filling your eyes. "I never thought I'd ever hear something like that from you!" You chuckled, amused smile still on your face.
Wriothesley was looking at you fondly as you approached the lift, waving to the front desk. "Come back soon?"
You smiled at him, softly this time as your star-filled eyes twinkled at him. "I'll always come back, Your Grace." You teasingly called him by his title before you leaned up to kiss his cheek. "Let's have tea next time, okay?"
Wriothesley could only nod as the lift took off.
Yeah... you definitely had favorites in Fontaine that weren't Melusines.

What about otter!creator joining neuvilette in a meeting with wriothesley and sigewinne (I think that how you spell that) and sneaking back with them to the fortress of meropide. Cue fun times with sigewinne, tasting otter safe teas with wriothesley, and a very freaked out neuvilette and furina

As you and Wriothesley only continued to stare at each other, Neuvillette and Furina suddenly walk back in. Both of their faces were stern as they looked at the both of you. But mostly you.
“Monsieur Wriothesley? We apologize, but me and Monsieur Neuvillette have some… pressing matter to discuss. Treats, toys and pillows are inside their pack. Please care for our ˈbābē in this sudden absence. We will retrieve them in a matter of hours. Thank you.” And with that, Furina and Neuvillette left, leaving no time for objection.
You watched as your three friends dissipated, and the duo walked out. Wriothesley was only able to open his mouth before the door shut again. He closed his mouth and turned to you, who shrugged.
His eyebrows raised at you before he blinked once.
Then twice.
Then three times.
“Do you… do you like tea?”
૮꒰づ˶• ༝ •˶꒱づ ˚ʚ ꒰⁐⁐⁐⁐୨🍭🍯🍮୧⁐⁐⁐⁐꒱ ɞ˚
When Sigewinne entered Wriothesley’s office she was not expecting to see around thirty teacups (all empty) around The Creator in the form of an otter with Wriothesley sitting beside them with a wide grin of his face.
“Sigewinne! Meet Neuvillette’s and Lady Furina’s new little Otter friend! Did you hear of them?”
Oh yeah. Sigewinne had heard all about them. From all the melusine. Constant reminders of how cute they were compared to that fake on the throne. Constant stories of how adorable they acted compared to the awful actions of that monster who acted as their God.
To see them in the flesh was… a visceral feeling honestly. And being a melusine herself, she could feel the ethereal aura surrounding them. Shaking her head, she smiled at the older man and nodded.
“Oh I’ve heard some things here and there… have you been testing teas with them?” She mused, a joking smile on her face.
“… I didn’t know what else to do,” he admitted, “I didn’t want to make them do my paperwork..”
She giggled before getting an idea, and idea that had her face scrunched up in an even wider grin.
“What if… we try milkshakes?~”
“Sigewinne.” Was all he said.
As they began a small back and forth about the logistics of given an Otter a milkshake (Wriothesley was losing), you got up from your seat, took a small toy that looked vaguely like a melusine with the same colors are your fur, and just… waked out the office. Ready to explore.
“Uhm… Sigewinne?”
“It could very beneficial to their health for all we know-“
“Sigewinne?”
“I mean, have you even see an Otter consume a milkshake? I doubt their lactose intolerant-“
“Sigewinne.”
“And I… yeah?”
“Where did they go?”
“…. Uh oh.”
And you, at that exact moment, realized why you probably needed a map. Wondering around, you hadn’t realized how many levels you were going down.
You had been trying to get to the Coupon Cafeteria. How in the actually fuck had you ended up in the forbidden zone, in front of the gate that held the Primordial Sea.
What the fuck.
You hugged your melusine plushy closer as you stared at the plug.
And then an alarm sounded off.
God fucking damn it.
૮꒰づ˶• ༝ •˶꒱づ ˚ʚ ꒰⁐⁐⁐⁐୨🍩🍬🍦୧⁐⁐⁐⁐꒱ ɞ˚
Chlorinde had been having a nice, slow day.
Why did the fucking sea just have to choose to be angry today.
Why?
Today was a good day.
TodAY WAS A GOOD DAY-
She sighed and removed herself from the room she was currently in, speed walking towards the room where her Archon and Chief Justice were.
After knocking curtly and hearing a quiet “Come in”, she gently pressed open the door, yet spoke with urgency.
“My apologies for interrupting, but the Primordial Sea. It’s causing issues again.” Chlorinde stated.
The hydro duo looked at each other, they had been no where near done with the conversation, but their darling was in the Fortress of Meropide, where the ocean was being.. dealt with.
“Let us begin on your way then.” Neuvillette sighed.
૮꒰づ˶• ༝ •˶꒱づ ˚ʚ ꒰⁐⁐⁐⁐୨🍮🍧🎂୧⁐⁐⁐⁐꒱ ɞ˚
“Damnit damnit damnit damnit…” Thats all that was going through Wriothesley’s head at the moment. He had sent Sigewinne away to ensure her safety, all while running through the Fortress, all the while making sure to keep an eye out for a stray otter.
His mind flew through the possibilities: you could’ve been caught in machinery, you could’ve fallen off a ledge, you could’ve been snatched up by a criminal on a walk…
There were to many all to possibilities that would lead to him finding your body over you alive.
And if things were going the way they were with the Primordial Sea, then Furina and Neuvillette were going to be back a lot sooner than any of them expected.
And he was not ready for what the punishment would be.
But when he finally got down to the correct level?
He knew his punishment was going to be even worse than whatever they were initially going to do to him.
Because your little body sat in front of the loudly beeping seal before the Primordial Sea.
Fuck.
૮꒰づ˶• ༝ •˶꒱づ ˚ʚ ꒰⁐⁐⁐⁐୨🍪🍯🍬୧⁐⁐⁐⁐꒱ ɞ˚
Honest to god when you saw Wriothesley just appear out of thin air, you weren’t shocked. To be entirely honest you hoped that you’d get to see the whole fight against the Sea with Neuvillette! It was gonna be so cool!
You snuggled against your melusine plushy again as you watched Wriothesley rush towards you, gently pick you up, and move you out of the way.
“Alright, here you go… just have to make sure you don’t get in trouble…” He muttered as he at you down, out of the way. You mentally groaned at this but stayed put. You’d still be able to watch from here, you supposed…
And as soon as Wriothesley walked but over to the seal, Neuvillette, Furina and Chlorinde all deceased from you forgot where. You began clapping quietly and lied on top of your plush, snuggled up and ready for action.
You couldn’t really hear their voices, but then…
The seal exploded!
You watched with bated breath as they fought against the raging Sea, and your little tail began to wag at the sight.
Perhaps you had picked up a love for the show from Furina…
You watched the moves they pulled, the fights they put up, everything was glorious!
That was…
…Untill Neuvillette faltered.
You were confused.
Wasn’t he the one who stopped it in the cutscene? Why wasn’t he able to do it now? What was happening? Was the fear on his face? Why was there fear on his face? Why was everyone stepping back? Was…
Was Furina crying?
You jumped up from your hiding spot, rushing across the floor to the shock and fear of everyone.
Your top hat flew off and your melusine plush fell out of your mouth.
You heard shouts your way but you didn’t give a shit.
This stupid water wasn’t gonna hurt your new family.
Not on your watch.
…
You jumped into the water.
…
Over the rushing waves you could hear Furina scream.
…
It was…
Almost soothing…
As Furina screamed and cried the only thing on Neuvillette’s mind was if you were going to melt away.
If you were going to dissolve in those star studded waters.
‘It would be fitting.’ His mind mused. ‘For the brightest star in his life to flicker out surrounded by stars as well.’
Furina fell to her knees. Why?
Why?!
WHY?!
WHY DID EVERYTHING SHE WANT HAVE TO SLIP FROM HER FINGERS LIKE SAND ON THE OCEAN FLOOR?! SWEPT AWAY BY THE TIDE SHE COULDN’T CONTROL?! WHY WAS SHE FORCED WITH THE MISFORTUNE OF NEVER BEING ABLE TO HOLD ON TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE WHO MENT ANYTHING TO HER?! THIS WASN’T FAIR!
IT WAS NEVER FAIR!
HOW COULD THIS EVER POSSIBLY BE FAIR!?!?
And as Furina cried, Wriothesley looked on with a blank face on.
But his mind was a whirlpool of emotion.
Your sudden sacrifice… it reminded him slightly of his past. Of his teenage years.
Of the murder of his foster parents.
How he put his life on the line, knowing full well that it could be the end of him, as long as his siblings would be fine in the end. That he saved everyone he could.
That’s what you had just done, wasn’t it?
But Chlorinde…
She was shocked.
She watched as her Archon screamed and cried, as she slammed her fists into the ground below, as Neuvillette allowed a tear to fall from his eye (she had never seen him cry before now), as Wriothesley stared on, grief and longing in his eyes.
Just…
Just what had you meant to them?
What had you meant..?
What… could you have meant to her..?
…
The water was cold. Cool. And the stars shimmered in a way where they were bright, but not enough to hurt your eyes.
You couldn’t see outside the water. But it seemed bioluminescent. The brilliant blue lighting up your vision with the stars.
You swam gently. The current was slow.
You placed a paw on your bow tie. It swayed with the movement of your body.
You felt something deep inside you.
…
The Primordial Sea.
She called to you.
She cried that her creations feared her.
She just wanted to be whole again. While with her children.
But you told her that she couldn’t.
They were scared because they were their own people now.
They had become their own.
If she were to become whole again…
They would die.
She wept.
She did not want them to die.
But she had to become whole. They were still apart of her.
You told her that soon she would understand. Her tears would no longer be wept out of sorrow, but out of delight.
She didn’t understand. You told her she soon would.
Where you swam, she followed, like a duckling to her mother.
When you went up, she followed. When you went down, she followed. You went left, so did she. You go right, so does she.
You tell her she must go back.
She understands. But she warns that soon her sorrow will consume her once more and she will come again, wishing to have her children rejoin her.
and you tell her that you will be there to comfort her once more. And you will be there until she understands.
She understands.
…
Furina’s cry’s stop. She looks to the water, which has ceased its movement.
It begins to swirls around them, breaking off into pieces that form diffrent creatures of the sea.
From creatures of today, to long lost beasts of times forgotten. They swirl around and around the room, playing and tumbling over each other. The grin and make the happiest noises with one another.
Before diving back into the seal.
Only an Otter of starry water remained, and it dropped between the teary eyed Dragon Sovereign and the crying Archon, chittering and chirping. Picking up the top hat, it places it in hydro god’s hands.
It’s form splits. Duplicates perhaps..
And there you stood.
Their ˈbābē.
Her raison d’être, her preux chevalier, her ange.
His moitié, his raison de vivre, his trésor.
The only difference being your once wide black eyes,
We’re now filled with all the stars in the sky.
Furina gently placed the hat on your head as you walked up and nuzzled her face, licking away her tears.
You then walked back to the Primordial Sea Otter, missing Furina’s out reached hand.
You both nuzzled against each other, making chittering and chirping noises, rubbing up and down each other. After saying your goodbyes, the Primordial Otter waved, running and jumping into the seal, it closing up after her.
You rushed back to them, picking up your plush on the way, and got picked up by a still teary Neuvillette, whose breath was shaky and broken.
You gave him kisses as well, chirping up at him.
All those in the vault - after Furina had stood - crowded around Neuvillette.
Hands were ran through your fur and you took it all lovingly, understanding the scare you had just given them.
Looking towards his Lady, they had a mental conversation, before Neuvillette sighed.
“Chlorinde, Wriothesley. Me and Lady Furina have something to tell you.”

furina
it goes without saying .. furina is ecstatic. i mean.. why wouldn’t she be? she wouldn’t make this known, however, because “of course you’re going to wish to capture my enthralling beauty on paper — it’s only fair when faced with such divine radiance!” inside.. she’s a mess. her widened eyes flit over every tiny detail, every little stroke of the pen or paintbrush. “enthralling beauty”, she says, “divine radiance”, she says — but is she truly talking about herself or the way you interpreted her? never in all the centuries she’d been alive would she admit this, but she couldn’t help but feel as if you had made her look much more ethereal than she truly was. she does make it known that she likes it, though. when you turn away from her and murmur something about how you’re not the most proud of this particular piece, she scoffs indignantly. “what? how— ugh, how could you ever say such a thing? do you dare question my judgement?!” she leans back against the couch, hardly able to focus on the taste of the small pastry half-eaten in her hand. she’s incredibly grateful it’s only you two alone, because she has an entirely embarrassing blush upon her face as she chews.
wanderer
“.. seriously?” he kind of just.. glares at it. i’m sorry, but i don’t really know what you were expecting. depending on the kind of mood he’s in, he’ll either simply cast it aside without a second glance or attempt to mockingly chew you out over it. it doesn’t matter whether he actually likes it or not; he is not going to let you live it down. he’s not amused, but i can’t really imagine him actually getting upset about it either. he’ll scoff, maybe roll his eyes if he’s feeling generous enough, then go about his day without another thought to it. even with his nonchalant, near-annoyed demeanor over the whole thing, when you’ve left and he’s alone — he looks for it again and stares at it like he didn’t get to before. as his eyes travel the lines that form a quite accurate depiction of his visage — implying you spent a lot of time looking at him — he can’t help but wonder why, of all people, you chose him as your muse. he does.. appreciate the sentiment, though, even if he’ll never voice it. he catches himself before he spirals. it doesn’t matter, he reminds himself. with a huff, he sets it down again and crosses his arms, trying to ignore the fact it does indeed make him feel.
freminet
if you were expecting anything other than freminet being an absolute mess.. you’d be sorely mistaken. of course, he’s not upset at all. he’s just.. very, very embarrassed. he loves your art, he does. he doesn’t want you to misconstrue this, and makes sure you know it’s not your problem, but his own. make sure to reassure him. the moment he lays his eyes upon it, it’s evident; his eyes widen almost comically, and, suddenly, he has the surely inexplicable urge to run for his life. that wouldn’t be fair to you, though, so he bites it back and forces himself to stay put. the gears whir in his mind like he’s a piece of the machinery he holds so dear. he doesn’t know how to thank you — should he thank you? he doesn’t know what to say at all, more like. he clears his throat, unable to get any words out; his mouth goes dry and his heart practically beats out of his chest, all the while he’s looking just as frozen in time as your rendition of him. he lets out an audible sigh of relief when you reassure him that he doesn’t need to speak. he can’t handle you when you stare at him like this, and asks if you’d be okay with him putting on his diving helmet. once you’ve given him your permission — which you reiterate he doesn’t need — he quickly places it over his head, letting out a soft sigh of relief when you can no longer see his face. his gaze doesn’t leave the art, not for a moment. he stands still and stares at it, unable to tear his eyes away from the lines that, somehow, paints a clear picture of.. him. that you made. he still does not make any move to talk, and he’s very glad that you’re so understanding. eventually, he murmurs an apology, and through the lump in his throat, reassures you that (if there was ever any doubt), he likes it.
neuvillette
it was raining. it had been raining all day. naturally, this worried you, and your first thought was to check up on neuvillette. exhausted yet unchanging, neuvillette sifted through his paperwork without taking a single break to rest. however, all things must, and eventually, his tire overcame him — letting out a sigh, he placed his palm upon his forehead and leaned into it, his eyes fluttering closed. it took him a moment to open them again, but when he finally did.. after such a long day, eyes sore with the strain of reading fine print jammed together so thickly the pages looked more inky than ivory, the last thing he expected was to see was a piece of blank paper on his desk. curious, he picks it up and flips it over, assuming it to be more writing on the other side — only to be met with.. himself, staring right back at him. the neuvillette now is slightly slouched over, eyes drooping with the weight of an unrelenting week. he’s unable to see his true reflection — in a mirror or water, not a near-perfect version of him on paper — so he couldn’t really tell, but even so, he can’t help but feel as if this version of him must appear much more composed. he pushes the thought away, stares at the piece a bit closer, and he eases a bit. not only was it a splendid break to the monotony of monochromatic paperwork, it was made by you. it’s now that you walk into the room. in a split second, you realize what he’s holding. you blink. he smiles, gentle and soft. the rain stops pouring.

NAVIA
Navia chuckles to herself as the last piece of clothing is discarded on the floor. Her slim, feminine, body perched elegantly against the satin sheets of the cushion, basking effortlessly in the dayglow of Fontaine’s sun like the Goddess she seemed to be. You swallowed your mouth dry. Taken aback with how ethereal she looked in the moment as her golden locks framed her face like a portrait hung in your gallery.
Navia purses her lips together, a curious, yet amused smirk causing a heart to form at her mouth. She chuckled, a prick of heat burning at your insides.
“Never seen a woman naked before?” She smiles, nude body all on display with no shame whatsoever. She was the one who had asked you to paint her, after all, of course she wouldn’t be embarrassed. It was her request…
“I have.” You quickly retorted back, gripping the stem of your brush with a tighter hand. “…Just not as exquisite as you.”
Her cheeks pinkened at your honesty, before she quickly covered it up with a smile.
“You flatter me, Artist,” she giggles, leaning back in her seat to leave all her assets on display. “Tell me then, does my request to paint me nude, make you nervous?”
She hugs herself to squish her breasts together, a sight that has you clearing your throat and looking away nervously. “Of course not, I’ve done commissions of all bodies. Clothed, and nude.”
Navia smirks at this.
“Then…is it normal for the Artist to get so flustered over her muse?”
There’s an essence of mischief in her tone. It has you clutching your paintbrush with strength similar to that of a stress ball. “I am not…flustered.” You say in a gritty tone, avoiding her bright blue eyes as you start to mark out the lines of her figure. “Let’s just move on with the painting. Please, get in a position that pleases you, my lady.”
Another smirk. That didn’t seem good.
“Like this?” Navia taunts with pleasure, lying back against her seat and leaving everything out for you to witness. You swallowed again, eyes wandering over her smooth, supple, chest. Areolas a pretty, puffy, pink color that stiffened the more she exposed them to the drafty air.
“Ah…that’s good.” You say with a stiff mumble. “Are you alright with staying like that for an hour or so?”
“Hm, perhaps not.” Navia tuts with fake afterthought. “I think I’ll choose a different position.”
She suddenly spreads her legs a bit wider, a gasp catching in the back of your throat as your eyes landed on the flower that sat between Navia’s legs. It was cleanly shaven —not waxed, but you could tell she had shaved before your appointment— and soft from the way she pressed against one of the folds. She flashed you a suggestive grin, before giggling at the sight of you all enamored by her pussy.
“Are you going to start painting soon?” Navia asks in a delighted tone. “Before you begin, let me just…” She suddenly dips one of her fingers into her cunt and sighs, a breathy moan leaving her lips. “There, all done…”
If you were blushing before, you were a lava cake by now. Navia could practically see the steam coming out from your face, and she chuckles before circling her clit with her thumb. “I guess a woman has never toyed with herself in front of you, hm?” She groans, slowly rubbing circles around her clit until she’s wet enough to appear glistening. “Are you embarrassed?”
You shook your head no. Clearly enamored by the sight of the Spina di arousal president masturbating in front of you. “Was this your goal the whole time? To…taunt me with your body?”
Navia laughs at this and shakes her head no, “Of course not, mon amour.” She uses two fingers to spread her two walls apart. “I want you to touch me.”
Almost like a song, you were drawn to where she was seated, dropping your brush to the ground and forgetting about the painting entirely. Navia smiles tenderly at the way you follow her command, pushing you down until you are kneeled by her feet like a priestess worshiping her divinity. “I was thinking the portrait could be from a different point of view,” She mutters under her breath. “It’s important for the Artist to commit it to memory…”
Combing her fingers through your hair, she slowly pushes your face into her folds and gasps, head tilted back in ecstasy, while your tongue begins to taste what heaven feels like.
“Ah…”
CLORINDE
The intimidating, Champion Duelist of Fontaine was currently lying sprawled out against your couch with her muscular body out on display. Amongst the obvious parts of her body that caught your attention, her muscles were what drew you in, as the Champion Duelist had rough, toned scars lining her chest from years of dangerous battle.
As an Artist, you were infatuated. Using the tip of your brush to stroke each line on her abs and highlight every curve of her legs. Which, mind you, we’re chiseled to perfection under the lamp side lighting of your room.
“…Thank you for taking the time to…paint me.” Clorinde whispers under a husky breath. “Especially considering the…circumstances…”
She blushes slightly at her position. Rough, calloused body proving a beautiful muse for you to work on as you’ve had the honor of painting Clorinde’s body nude. (Courtesy of her request)
“It’s no problem, Captain Clorinde.” You say in a professional tone, trying to ignore the ache between your legs when you see her thigh flex its toned structure. “I have done this countless times. You are in the hands of an expert.”
The Duelist smiles softly at your reassurance, deciding to sit up from the sofa.
“Miss Clorinde, I’m not done yet—”
“Could you come over for a moment?” She speaks in a low tone, catching you off guard with how smooth she was being. “Just for a moment. I want to see your hands.”
“…My hands?” You chewed your lip for a moment before getting up from your seat and walking over to the couch. Clorinde leaning back and letting all her muscles move with precision. “Yes, your hands,” she murmurs ever so huskily, reaching over to cup your wrist. “I want to look at them…”
You felt the rough, battle-worn calluses of her fingertips wrap around your hand and pull you closer. An intimate, quiet moment falling between you two, as Clorinde bites her lip and examines the calluses of your own battles.
“Such soft hands, yet they hold their own roughness from your artwork,” the Captain murmurs, almost as if she were enamored by just the sight of you. (She was)
“Captain Clorinde, please…” you laugh shyly. “You speak of me like I’m the art. I’m merely just the artist.”
She growls a little at that statement and shakes her head no. “I may be your muse at the moment, but I can’t help but wish to see you nude in my place.”
In that moment, you find yourself seated on the lap of the very naked Champion Duelist, who has helped herself with teasing you under the leggings of your clothes. You can’t help but agree to every little thing she does, as she begins nibbling against your neck to leave her own works of art.
“I’d like to try a hand at painting myself,” she murmurs hotly into your ear, “Care to be my canvas, Artist?”
You can’t find it in yourself to say no. Shakily nodding your head as she begins to rub circles against your clit with her strong, calloused, fingers.
“That’s a good girl.”
FURINA
Furina chuckles amusingly at the sight of Fontaine’s world renown artist currently hiding behind her easel. The archon herself was used to people kneeling before her, but she found entertainment in the way the cute, bashful artist she hired to commission was too nervous to look her in the eye. “What’s wrong, young artist…” Furina chuckles wickedly, “Are you really that shocked at your archon’s pure beauty?”
She crosses one leg over the other, her nude figure perched confidently by a table as she takes a sip of tea like usual. The way she was acting around you made you think she was doing this on purpose.
“I…you are beautiful indeed, my archon,” you respond to her nervously. “I just didn’t expect for you to disrobe so quickly.”
Furina sneers at the way you fidget so anxiously, tipping her teacup down to the point you worried it might spill. “Aren’t you an artist?” She chuckles behind her hand, “An artist who specializes in nude paintings as well. Tell me, does the sight of your beloved archon all skimmed down to her nudity really bother you that much?”
“No, of course not!” You quickly retort defensively. “It’s just quite a shocker to have your archon disrobe in front of you so…quickly.”
You bite your lip and look away. “You got out of your clothes quicker than I could get out my paints…”
Furina laughs hysterically at your quiet little stammer before running a hand over the smoothness of her thighs. “Oh…you’re just too cute…” she sputters under her laughs. “I definitely made the right choice in choosing you…”
She leans back against the chair and bites one of her manicured nails. That stuck up, haughty smile prickling you with annoyance as your archon seemed to treat this as a game. “You should be grateful I even asked you to paint me at all,” she snickers before uncrossing her legs. “You have the blessing of seeing Focalors’ body in the flesh.”
Your throat tightened at the sight of her legs now spread wide for you to see just how wet she was beneath her clothes. According to what you saw, she had been dripping for a while, but hid it well due to how she crossed her legs while seated right in front of you.
“M-Miss Furina…I…” your cheeks burned and you couldn’t look away.
“I…I…what?” She smirked mockingly at your stutter and teases you even more by pinching one of her nipples. The sight alone causes a burning ache between your legs, and you couldn’t help but stare entranced at the way she squeezed her own breast. “Go on, spit it out. If you say the right thing, I might just let you touch me yourself.”
“Pardon!?”
“Oh, don’t be so modest,” she snaps her finger and beckons you over. “You think I don’t notice the way you look at me so hungrily? What a pervert you are, dear Artist…”
The way she wags her finger at you almost has you on your hands and knees, crawling towards her like you were being pulled on a leash. Furina is delighted at the sight, looking joyous as she gives you a proper show of spreading her pussy lips even wider. Her slick, dripping essence cascading down the milky white thighs of your archon, and looking like the perfect muse for you to commit to memory.
“I want to see just how lithe an Artist’s fingers are,” Furina tuts, degradingly tapping your nose before propping you up to become face to face with her cunt. “Impress me, then perhaps I can give you an extra tip for a job well done.”
“But Miss Furina, your painting…”
“Silence.” She pulls you up by the hair and sneers. “This is a much better use for your hands, hm?”
LYNETTE
Lynette was definitely on the shyer side when she asked to become your muse. She had always admired your artwork, silently wishing that one day, she could take the place of one of your nude paintings, basking in an ethereal afterglow of your brushstrokes, as she wanted to be the center of your attention. (And only your attention)
You were surprised, needless to say, when the quiet magician’s assistant asked you after her show to become your muse. Even more surprised when she silently requested for it to be a nude drawing. Though you masked your surprise quite well, a small part of you was curious to see the beautiful body of the mysterious magician’s assistant, as she was very secretive with her personal life to the point not a lot of people knew about her.
You took up the commission, currently setting up your easel and waiting for Lynette to disrobe from her clothing. A comfortable silence falling between you two, before the sound of fabric hitting the floor caught your attention.
“…I’m ready.” Lynette spoke quietly, causing you to peek out from behind your canvas.
The cat woman was currently perched atop your couch in her full, nude, glory. Chest perky from the way the cold air hit her nipples, along with the smooth, supple skin of her back arched beautiful against the satin cushions. Her ears flattened in slight embarrassment from being in such a provocative situation, yet you couldn’t take her eyes off her as she was just so breathtakingly beautiful.
“Oh, how sweet…” you murmur with a smile, caught in awe with how stunning Lynette is. “Get in a comfortable position for me, will you? You’ll have to stay like that for an hour or two.”
Her ears flattened even more and she nodded, stiffly moving so that her body was sitting upright in a rather erect position. She looked quite firm and…not relaxed at all, placing her hands on her knees and sitting as if she were waiting for her appointment at the doctor’s office.
“…Oh dear,” you chuckled a bit at the way she was sitting. “That position is a bit too stiff for my liking. Here, let me help you.”
Setting your paint sets down, you walked over closer to where Lynette sat and saw her visibly tense up. You frowned a little at her discomfort and raised your hands in the air. “Don’t worry, I won’t touch you anywhere you don’t want me to. I’m just going to lightly guide your body to a more comfortable position.”
You smiled warmly at her and saw her ears twitch with acceptance. Slowly, she lets you guide her body down to lie on the couch, your eyes locked on hers and causing a small blush to adorn the cat woman’s pale cheeks.
“…Thank you,” Lynette whispers, her voice soft as she gazes up at you with longing. “I am a bit…embarrassed, however.”
“There is no need to be embarrassed,” you chuckle comfortingly, patting her head like you would with a cat. “The human body is beautiful, and yours is just as exquisite as any of the other muses I’ve had the pleasure of painting.”
She blushes softly at the way you call her body beautiful, and Lynette lets out a soft little purr of pleasure under your pets. “Can you…help me relax a little?” She asks in a quieter voice, almost embarrassed with her request. “My body is too tense. I need my muscles to…relax…”
You smile softly at the way she paws at your hand and slowly drags it downwards. Your fingers lightly stroking down her neck, her chest, her stomach, before finally reaching the twitching ache of her walls beneath you.
“Here?” You ask with a certain tenderness, lightly pushing against her clit like a button.
“Yes…!” Lynette whimpers, grasping onto your back with her nails. “Right there…”

warnings: none
a/n: ....you know... reading through the request one last time before posting this, it looks like I may have misunderstood smth *slightly*.
I hope this is still fine! If you want me to write reader taking away their cuddling priviledges after all just request it again and I'll try to write it someday!
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Furina
“I’m nowhere clingy!”
You’d have to be either deaf, stupid or oblivious to an unhealthy degree to miss your cuddling privileges being revoked. Furina had not exactly been subtle when openly declaring it after all. And while she may not have mentioned cuddling specifically, not trusting herself to not blush like a little kid at just the mention of it, you felt confident in saying that she had delivered her message well enough for even the most tone-deaf idiot to understand.
And yet, the exact same accusation that you had half-jokingly thrown her way and that she had taken such great offense to, turned the next few days into some of the best entertainment you had experienced in recent memory. Seeing an former Archon act dignified while at the same time having to fight the obvious urge to hug you the moment you were behind closed doors, only to then turn around and act like her embargo on hugging and cuddling was punishing you, was funnier than any comedy a human could possibly ever pen.
“So… about our argument a few days ago.” Furina spoke up the moment you returned to the table with your cooking, forcing you to fight off the grin that was threatening to pop-up on your face.
“So, about our argument a few days ago”, you repeated her words, intentionally ending on a high note to leave her waiting for your next words, only to continue to set up the table in silence.
“Are you- I-” she eventually stuttered out, only to stop herself before she could embarrass herself further. Her cheeks glowing slightly red as she tried to regain her composure.
“Who knows, if you were to apologize for your groundless accusations a few days back right now, I might just forgive you”, Furina graciously offered with closed eyes, avoiding to look at you in the process.
All the better for you, or she might have noticed the wide grin that had finally broken out on your face. For a moment you considered her ‘offer’. Sure, you missed cuddling on the couch as well and weren’t exactly the biggest fan of keeping up these kind of games…. and yet seeing her continue to needlessly die on this hill that so obviously harmed her more than you was very amusing.
“Wow, really? That seems very nice of you”, you mused with a smile while filling her plate with a portion before doing the same for yours and sitting down opposite of her. “Bon Appetit!”
“Oh come on. Stop being so stubborn! I’ve even given you such a good opportunity to apologize!” Furina's dignified act crumbled right before your eyes as she started to sound more and more desperate. You could practically hear her begging you to be the bigger person, and yet being small felt surprisingly great.
And yet you eventually- FINALLY gave in, much to the relief of the person sitting in front of you. “I am so sorry for calling you clingy Furina. I now see that I was clearly in the wrong and the one actually fitting the description of ‘clingy’ was in fact me”, your apology came out with a… healthy amount of sarcasm, and yet it was more than enough for her.
“...I’ll forgive you. Since you were nice enough to cook for me today”, she declared.
“I know I might be overplaying my hand here, but would you be so kind as to indulge me in a bit of cuddling later on? I’ve simply had to go on without it for far too long.”
“YES- Sure”, Furina immediately jumped at your offer before quickly switching back to her usual act, a wide smile plastered on her face nonetheless as she looked down at the food in front of her.
“It looks delicious, bon appetit!”
Nilou
While the two of you seemed to have quickly moved past your argument, spending time together as if nothing had happened and avoiding to even mention the subject again, it quickly dawned on you that while you had hoped this to be one of those arguments noone had to explicitly apologize for and that was simply forgotten the next day, the other party involved seemingly was of a different opinion.
Not that Nilou said anything, she greeted you with the same sweet smile before chatting and going on small walks through the bazaar with you in the same manner as on any day of the week. And yet, whenever you as much as tried to initiate any kind of physical contact, no matter if hand-holding or hugging and cuddling, she’d dodge as easily as she breathed. At first it seemed like nothing but a coincidence, but after the dozenth time even you realized something was wrong.
What followed was a days-long standoff. Both of you trying to make the other one crack before yourself, while retaining your sweet and unbothered facade, and while there were moments where you could have sworn to nearly see Nilou instinctively grab your hand, she always managed to stop herself before anything happened.
And while you certainly could have continued with the act for weeks to come, you eventually decided to be the bigger person. For the sake of putting this childish game of chicken behind, of course. And for no other reasons.
“Sure Nilou. You win”, you disrupted the silence that existed between the two of you while Nilou was in the process of adjusting her stage, her movement grinding to a halt as she began staring at you in confusion.
“I wasn’t aware we were playing something. Did you have fun?”
‘Not aware’ your a-
“Mhm, I am sorry about the argument”, you cut off your thoughts, immediately earning yourself a tilt of her head. After all this time you knew her clueless act to be nothing but an act and yet, when she looked at you like this you nearly found yourself doubting it all over again.
“Oh that? That was a whole week ago, did it still bother you all this time?”, she asked before finally finishing putting down the pot of flowers, quickly making her way down from the stage to join you and shooting you a sweet smile. “Don’t worry, I forgive you. I also didn’t mean everything I’ve said.”
If Nilou hadn’t suddenly grabbed your hand and started pulling you along her daily routine, you might have almost rolled your eyes, instead you found yourself thanking Lesser Lord Kusanali that you were indeed correct about your theory.
Bye Bye childish standoff, welcome back cuddling privileges.

HOW HATERS ARE BORN (HHAB)
♡ chapter thirty-three — give it time (💋)
“I’ll admit, you made it look like a home.”
You looked around, enamored by the mutable blend of the other’s home. There was oddly a cozy charm that bled in the space, a mixture of contrasts that you wouldn’t have thought he would involve himself with.
There were soft shadows playing against the walls, promenaded by the warm and golden glow of the lamps. It was really elegant in here, yet, meticulously chosen to make you feel comfortable enough to sit down on the obviously expensive furniture.
“Didn’t know you had a…knack for interior design either.” You said hesitantly, looking at a very abstract tiny statue of a triangle on one of the shelves. Even thought you were interested, it still just felt like a painted on canvas for you. Kind of like...the idea that there can be paint on a canvas, but it doesn't make it a painting. "Learning a lot more about you everyday."
"It wasn't my idea," He sighed. "I told the interior designer 'not too many colors', and I guess she thought I was talking about completely mute."
"Feels like a sanctuary," you murmured.
Despite the dismissive words he gave you, the effort that was put into everything was clearly crafted and corroborated. You walked over to the books sitting on the coffee table, the only things out of place from the rest of the textures, reading the hard cover and smiling.
"You're really considering it?" You asked, to which Kuni turned towards you, "Taking care of the orchard outside."
He shrugged, his eyes moving back to making tea in the kitchen. "I don't have a choice. It's either me who does it, or it dies."
"That's not true, you can always pay someone to do it for you. I know there's a lot of people who may want it for themselves, it's completely healthy." You rambled, trying to see it through the long windows. "I take it that was a housewarming gift too?"
"From Furina. Came with the house, thought it'd be funny to see me struggle with something mundane."
"I heard," You grinned, not being able to keep your laugh in. "Love that for you, it's like a package deal! Did it work?"
He sighed again, running a hand through his hair at the thought. "I guess, I don't know," He started pour the tea once the pot began to steam. "I know her goal was to drive me insane. A constant reminder that no matter how far I try to distance myself from complications, they find a way to root themselves in my life."
"Hey, I wouldn't see it as that." You chuckled, the sound mixing with the soft clinking of the ceramic cups he was setting on the table. "It's probably just a way to keep you grounded after everything."
"I don't see the appeal in tending to trees."
"Maybe it's not even about that," You mused. "Maybe it's just about finding a healthy medium in your life, don't suppose you had that before, right?" You said, teasingly.
He rolled his eyes at you, a humored smile tugging at his lips. "You're one to preach about silver linings."
Your jaw dropped, a small scoff coming from your mouth. "I actually came here to truce, thank you very much. Even though you're the one who tried to run away from me — news flash, didn't work, genius. Still pissed off about that. I'm glad that Furina is looking to help you as much as she's looking to out you."
"Running away is my thing." He squinted playfully, "Like she's big help anyway. The only reason she's in on it is because she wants us to have this romance trope going on for real this time. It's stupid as fuck."
You paused at his words, feeling yourself swallow a big lump some of the tea nestled in your mouth. You shivered at the heat that washed on you, pursing your lips in thought as you let the conversation simmer. The two of you standing in a companionable silence. The trees outside rustled gently in the breeze, their leaves a vibrant contrast to the muted tones inside.
"I mean, I don't know," You paused, cringing as your fingers tightened on your cup. "I don't think it's stupid."
Kuni stiffened too, gaze flickering away for a moment before returning to meet yours. There was a certain look that you've never seen before from him. You couldn't decipher his actual feelings. "I figured."
Your cheeks flushed. "Holy shit, never mind if you were expecting it already." You hissed to yourself, trying to ebb how much embarrassment was on your skin. "Look, I need to check into my hotel soon—"
"Sit down." He cut you off, assertiveness in his tone enough to get you to immediately listen, plopping back down. There was an unexpected gravity that was with him, another departure from his nonchalant attitude.
Your heart hammered rapid fire in your chest, a mix of fear and total apprehension were doing a waltz on your general disposition. The more time you were here, the more you worried about the next time you'll make an absolute fucking fool of yourself. You fidgeted with your fingers.
"What really brought you here." He asked, expectantly. "First thing you give me is a hug, and some words of affirmation. You're not here just to catch up, especially after I blew you off."
"I wanted to see you again." You admitted, the weight of your own words pressing down on you. "You owned up to it, left your part of the Internet in a spiral, and then didn't bother to talk to me after that."
He was looking at you, you sensed it. And it wasn't like you could look at him back, otherwise you were going to melt. It was different seeing him from up close, it was an original experience to you if you could name it anything.
His eyes were searching you, despite all you said, as if trying to decipher if you were being genuine. His eyes bored into you like a tiny laser burning your skin. He nodded, a sliver of understanding crossing his face. "You gave me the impression that you were done. I left it at that."
"Yeah, well, I felt like the only one who could leave it at anything was me."
Despite how sticky and tense it was again, you felt relieved that he wasn't as malicious as he was behind the screen. You were relieved that at least the worst of it was over. But it didn't didn't help the burning in your chest, the aching of the bubble in your throat. "Ei really made you do all that stuff? It's not because you really do hate me, right?"
There was no more pretending anymore, no more hiding behind false bravado or dissing each other behind screens like pussies. It was only raw honesty, vulnerable and exposed.
"(Y/N)." His expression softened, a silent dilemma clear on his face. He gathered his own courage, squaring his shoulders a bit and looking at you again. "I'm sorry."
You felt dazed, electricity in the air around you, the world officially tilted on its axis to you. "What?" You accentuated snippier than you intended.
"You were collateral. Nothing that you did deserved what happened to you. Makes sense that you did what you did, you weren't the problem." He explained, shoulders slumped again. "I was behind what I did, at the end of the day; Ei just told me to do it. I'm sorry for being part of the reason you couldn't bounce back. I know if the situation were different, I'd leave you alone."
People kept saying that to you these days, that nothing that happened was because you deserved it. Maybe you never quite got the picture until Kuni said something along the lines of it. You never thought that him apologizing to you would garner the oddest reaction out of you.
Because why was it sexy..? Stop.
"And," He sighed, grabbing your attention lightspeed again. "I would consider liking you more if this all didn't happen. You're alright."
His admission of everything was catching you off guard left and right. You had no idea what to feel with the prominent knot in your stomach. "Do you like me?" "(Y/N), I don't want to—"
"I'm alright, in your words, but do you like me?" Your tone solidified with each word slowly jutting out, assertiveness hardening your composure. "Tell me. Look at me and tell me."
The uncertainly stretched on for what was practically indefinitely. He held his breath, as did you, waiting for his response. Your heart was ruthless against you, beating against your body. He sized you up, seeking an answer for himself.
"...Yeah?" He admitted, voice barely audible as he tried to find his own words. But everything he did think of was so unlike him, out of his personal way of handling things like this. "Yeah. I do."
You blinked, both of your eye contact filling a certain, more romantic space that neither of you even thought was there before today. But the more you realized it, the more you realized that maybe the sexual tension was always there.

notes: im just dumping some random hcs to feed my children (anons) while im stalling on cooking the ACTUAL main course. i apologize to my anons but here is a snack while you wait. and ofc to anyone else ;) I’m SO sorry that Furina’s is so shortttt. I just don’t know that much about her next time I’ll do my research I prommy. and WHAT THE HADES WHY IS AMBER’S SO LONG I GOT CARRIED AWAY OMFGS-
taglist status: OPEN! just send an ask or add a comment if you want to be tagged (im opening this even though i know for a fact i have like, one person to tag and that is livia vanrouge [did i spell your name right i think not] you are a pookie and ily)
characters: thoma, furina, kazuha, freminet and amber x gn!reader (seperate)
amber!:
Amber is the type of person to take you out whenever she can
and by take you out, I don’t mean for dinner or something, no.
I mean taking you to Dadaupa Gorge and clearing Hilichurl camps with you.
taking you to Starsnatch Cliff at night to go stargazing and wish on shooting stars.
she will find a pretty spot while she’s doing her outrider duties and take you there.
she’ll go to Good Hunter and get some food to-go and eat it with you at your little hangout area.
she’ll secretly keep an eye out for any monsters while you enjoy the meal she got you.
she’s probably got your usual order memorized.
you like Teyvat Fried Egg? easy, simple, she’s got you covered. your favorite’s a nice, roasted Sweet Madame? she noted that wayyy long ago.
she’ll go on walks with you through the Whispering Woods.
she’ll go to the Anemo Statue at Windrise with you.
can’t sleep? she’ll take you to the top of the Knights of Favonius Headquarters to look at the night sky.
sick? she’ll get you medicine. sick with an uncommon illness? she’ll go all the way to Liyue and get medicine from Bubu Pharmacy.
speaking of Liyue, she’d take you to Chenyu Vale or Liyue Harbor for a special occasion. like, your birthday or your anniversary. she knows almost every place in Teyvat like the back of her hand.(excluding maybe Snezhnaya, Khaenri’ah, and Inazuma but anyways-)
she’d spar you so you could work on your fighting.
she’d let you cuddle Baron Bunny (deactivated. do not hug Baron Bunny when it is not deactivated)
her favorite cuddling position would probably be having you face each other with her arm wrapped around you.
furina!:
Furina would be a TALKER. and I mean TALKER in your relationship.
not in a bad way like a yapper (paimon frfr-) but she just talks more than you.
she would give you a lot of random gifts like a bouquet at 10 pm or smth lmao
she might be very cuddly. her favorite position is spooning, either her big spoon or you big spoon, she doesn’t mind.
despite her outside personality, if you guys argue, she’d approach the situation calmly and talk it out before misunderstandings could arise.
she’d call you “my muse/my love” and to joke or for fun “my dearest puzzle piece”
if your ever feeling down, count on her to lighten up the mood!
she’d tell you a joke
light up a candle
watch a movie with you
take you for a walk
pick flowers with you
etc etc.
freminet! (cuz there’s not enough of him @freminet-writings @ryu--19):
this man
this smol man
is shy (made it so dramatic for such an obvious fact)
he’d take you underwater
but if you can’t swim
he’d take you to Fontaine’s coastline near the waters
one of my Freminet hcs is that he can hundred percent ice-skate
if there’s an empty ice rink he’d take you
teach you basics maybe
since he’s so calm, it would make him an amazing person to have deep conversations or to just talk about your struggles.
because he’s that shy, he probably won’t even tell anyone about a single thing you said.
he’d give you small trinkets from time-to-time
he’d let you cuddle Pers
quiet moments are important to him and he holds them dearly.
so he might take you to a flower field and just sit there with you.
make you a flower crown, or put some in your hair.
Lyney would tease the living frick out of you both
when him and Lynette find out about Freminet seeing you they’d be like “you talked to someone???” “AND IT WAS A GIRL???”
and then he’s just there like “yes.”
”WHAT THE FUCK-“
Arlecchino would be proud of him. but would incinerate you if you hurt him.
so, to conclude, I simp for him. you simp for him. and if you think you don’t, you’re lying to yourself. that’s not healthy.
thoma!:
get yourself someone like him
best boy frfr
I need him to teach me how to use a spear cuz WHAT THE FUCK
HAVE YOU SEEN HIS MECHANICS???
THAT’S AGGRESSIVE
COMPLETELY OPPOSITE TO HIS DEMEANOR
will make you tea
will cuddle the living crap out of you whenever he can.
can NOT restrain himself from touching you after his shift at the Kamisato Estate is over.
will cook for you
for a date, he might take you to one of Inazuma’s coastlines (yes, another coastline.)
a bonus you get while dating him is TAROUMARU
FLUFFY DOGGY
do NOT take him to the Narukami Shrine.
why? Yae Miko. I refuse to elaborate. you should know.
YANSHANG TEA HOUSE
like Kazuha, he can probably braid hair
oooh free coupon for Naganohare (is that how you spell it?) Fireworks ! ! ! (reference to his About Yoimiya voiceline ehe I mayy or may not ship them teehee 🤭)
once the STUPID VISION HUNT DECREE IS OVER (I’m talking to you, Ei), he might take you to his amAzing homeland Mondstadt. (where we tOtally learnt about where our sibling is and dEfinitely didn’t just help out with un-brainwashing a dragon. [did we dirty it’s brain…?])
andd no, he doesn’t have a good alcohol tolerance. he says it in a voiceline so KIDS DON’T DRINK!
basically, he’s a W bf.
kazuha!:
*deep breath* I simp for him for a reason period.
he is the most CARING and THOUGHTFUL man EVER.
my favorite on this list fr
don’t get him wrong, he might reason against you joining him on board because he doesn’t want you to get hurt or anything.
being on a fucking ship at sea for so long is dangerous alright.
but if you are able to defend yourself, then woopti-doo
he will look calm on the outside,
but his heart is jumping for joy.
would sing if you can’t fall asleep
sooo prettyyyy ugh
would ask Beidou for advice in the start.
would buy you gifts
cuddle you in the mornings
play with your hair
PLEASE play with his hair too, he loves it.
probably knows how to braid hair
so if you have long hair, he’d braid it for you
hundred percent knows how to play guitar
would play for you
takes you out on dates when you guys r on land.
can cook
will cook
and will feed you
overall, amazing bf
give credits! dividers by @cafekitsune

can.. can I ask for an affectionate reader with characters who aren’t normally like… used to the love? like, not just through words but physical affection like hand-holding, kisses, hugs, all that shebang. probably with a few people like yelan, ei, basically any character that is either cut-off from society or seems socially distant or isolated. 😞
☆ affectionate reader with yelan, ei, & furina
[ 4.2 Archon Quest spoilers ]
× yelan
Varies between how you display your affection, to be honest. Just like being affectionate with people? She's cool with it as long as you don't pop by while she's working (mostly because she'll end up dragging you into it for a bit of fun). I don't think she's all that touchy feely herself, but she'll absolutely get you gifts instead– like pretty knick nacks? She'll make sure to snag any she thinks you might like. Like a good meal? Sure, she'll take you out to one of the restaurants in the city, doesn't matter how expensive. Her treat. If you do prefer physical gifts rather then being taken out, you'll eventually get used to the random unmarked letters and packages showing up where your staying pretty often. It's obvious to know who it came from even if she never signs anything.
Flirty reader, though? Whole nother can of worms and now it's a challenge. The more confident you are the more interested she is. The other acolytes would absolutely seethe at the idea but she has no hesitation at just straight up flirting back– she's as charismatic as they come and she's got a poker face that's basically impenetrable. She'll probably also make a bet to see who cracks first (she always wins, unsurprisingly). Probably won't get dragged into any of her schemes this way but if you ask politely maybe she'll consider it, anyway.
The smell of freshly brewed tea and the clatter of dice across wood was a common sight at the Yanshang Teahouse– less common was the woman secluded in the far corner, her lips pulled into a grin that flashed fangs and a look that would scare off the most confident of men.
She'd normally try to scope out any new blood that'd made the mistake of stepping into her teahouse and was equally stupid enough to accept a gamble against her just for the thrill of it, but she was far too absorbed in the warm body at her side, one of her die clasped tightly in their hand as she guided them through the motions– they had a knack for it, she had to admit. The thought made her preen, the clatter of the die as it rolled across the table giving her that subtle, familiar rush.
Even if she knew exactly where it'd land.
"Six. Hm, maybe you're just lucky," She muses, plucking the die from the table and holding it up to her eye like a prized jewel, "Or maybe you're not as innocent as you'd have us believe." There's a sharp glint in her eyes at the prospect, but everyone else has the sense to keep their heads down and their words to themselves as she tosses the die herself.
"So why don't we find out and make a bet, just between you and me?"
× ei
Varies between Ei and the Shogun, because you'll probably be seeing either as much as the other. Sometimes you gotta really squint to tell who it is sometimes, but you get used to it. Both are fairly similar, though, in that their first instinct (especially in public) is to tense up like you're about to attack them or something. Difference is Ei eventually relaxes after a solid minute of trying to process your sudden affection and, if no one else is around, she might even reciprocate. Just don't tease her for being a little stiff and awkward about it, she's trying. That's what happens when your only company is a robot and uh. Nothing. For like 500 years. She's trying. Raiden, on the other hand, is just about as awkward as you can imagine. She's polite (blunt) about it because Ei is fond of you and also you are. The Creator. But she's not really built to deal with personal relationships and so she doesn't know how to deal with affection.
..Depending on what you do you may or may not blue screen Ei hard enough that she retreats back to PoE
Ei usually isn't fond of sitting still, unless it's to meditate. At least then she goes in with a purpose, something to achieve– but now, she's just focused on trying not to make a fool of herself. Her muscles are starting to ache from how hard she's tensing, though, in an effort to sit as straight and still as possible as their hands glide through her hair, weaving it into a single braid.
She can just barely hear the subtle lilt of their voice as they hum– and though it is soothing, it is also..very distracting. She can't focus long enough to try and meditate, too lost in the gentle rise and fall of their voice and the care they take to braid her hair. If she'd had a heart, she'd sure it'd be beating so wildly against her ribcage they could hear it.
But then it stops– their hands fall back to their sides and their humming falters. She freezes, too, racking her brain for any slights she must have committed. Instead, she is met with a calm, tender touch on the back of her neck, making her inhale sharply.
"Am I making you uncomfortable, Ei? You're so tense.." She has to grit her teeth to stop herself from bowing so low her head presses against the ground, her hands folded in her lap, clenching instinctively. "..No, Divine One." She answers simply, trying to contain the adoration swelling in her chest.
Yet as much as she tries to relax, to ease their worries, she finds that she cannot.
"Hm." That small murmur, a simple sound that nearly made her jump, was the only warning she got before they scooted closer, wrapping their arms around her stomach and resting their chin on her shoulder with a grin she would liken to Miko's, if she dared to make such a comparison. "Really?"
She swears she must've been feverish at the affection, lightheaded and dazed until she thought she might simply perish at the brush of their hands against her own.
Much to her embarrassment, however, she doesn't realize she's instinctively pulled back into Plane of Euthymia until she sees the familiar dull purples engulf her vision once again.
Though only a small solace, it seemed a little..brighter, this time.
× furina
Varies between pre 4.2 and post 4.2 archon quests to be honest.
Pre 4.2 she comes off as very vain– of course the most Divine would see fit to spoil her with affection! She deserves it, and is obviously their favorite! Just don't look too hard because she's terrible at hiding how flustered she actually is. Absolutely goes home right after and screams into her pillow for at least thirty minutes minimum.
Post 4.2 she's a lot more openly bashful and flustered. She's really not used to affection and even the smallest show of it has her folding immediately. Now that she doesn't need to worry about being found out she's a lot more receptive to affection. Cup her cheeks and compliment her and her knees are buckling. Like. Especially weak for compliments and praise (she deserves it. please spoil her).
She swears she must be hallucinating– she had been having trouble sleeping recently. But..no. The visage of the Creator was as real as the sweat beading on her brow as she stared at them for a long, awkward moment. Should..she let them in? But then they'd see the pathetic state she was in, and the last thing she wanted to do was make a fool of herself in front of them-!
Her choice was quickly made for her, anyway, as she let out an undignified squeak of surprise when they suddenly tugged her forward into their chest, enclosing her in a hug.
Her first reaction was to freeze– her second was becoming absolutely flustered, her cheeks flushing a soft pink and her mouth closing and opening as she tried to find her words.
"I– ah..um." She stumbled over her words instead, floundering like a fish out of water. Yet she felt a distinct sense of emptiness wash over her when they finally pulled back, looking a touch sheepish. "Sorry, sorry– you just looked like you needed a hug."
The silence spoke for itself, her shoulders tensing slightly. But the way the concern and affection bled through their voice made her waver, her hands trembling as she let out a shaky breath that almost sounded like a sigh.
"It's..It's fine! Fine, I'm fine." She repeated, trying desperately to ignored the way her voice cracked and how hot her face felt– though it was more an attempt to affirm herself that she was not thinking about how warm they felt, how much she..actually enjoyed the hug. She wasn't thinking about it all! Absolutely not!
..Maybe a little.
"Just warn me next time, please?"

the winding path of fate chapter 18 sneak peak
The first drops of precipitation landed on Neuvillette’s face. It took him a second to register it before he looked up at the grey skies.
“Aah…” he let out a sigh. While the rain and damp air soothed his mind, it also brought a heaviness to his mind. I should try to restrain myself for today. A birthday party should be a cheerful occasion, with sunny weather and clear skies.
Besides, he didn’t want to disappoint you more than he already did.
The trials had proceeded faster than he expected, though it was now late afternoon. They were mostly over petty offences and disputes. Even the Oratrice seemed to issue its verdicts a little quicker than usual, as though it was also impatient to get the day over with.
And now he was back at the Palais, standing in a corner outside the doors. He absentmindedly watched the people rushing about, looking for shelter from the rain.
He closed his eyes and tried to calm his mind, imagining the flat surface of the sea. It seemed to work somewhat, but the sky remained leaden.
Throughout the centuries of his existence, Neuvillette had learned a few methods to settle his emotions after a trial. One of them was to distract himself with work, which was why he returned to his office even though he technically had the rest of the day to himself. He could have also returned home, but with Marie visiting family and you away for the whole day, the thought of going back to an empty, silent house seemed almost unbearable.
Yet another oddity that he noticed within himself recently. He usually relished quiet and solitude.
Shaking his head slightly, he entered the Palais and greeted Sedene before heading into his office, where he was met with a surprise but very welcome guest.
“Monsieur Neuvillette!” Sigewinne, the head nurse of Meropide, waved her hand merrily at him from the couch. Feeling his mind lighten considerably at the mere sight of her, he strode over to her quickly. There was a tray of tea and cakes in front of her.
“Sigewinne, what a pleasant surprise. I did not know that you had a day off today.”
“Hee hee, I wanted to keep it a surprise!” she bounced over to him with two small boxes. “The Duke also sends his greetings, as well as two boxes of tea.”
“How generous of him. Give him my thanks when you return,” Neuvillette accepted the boxes and studied them. He recognized them as black tea leaves from a high-end brand. He could smell the fragrance of the tea leaves even through the packaging.
“The Duke says he’s giving you two so that you’ll have more to share with Madame. Oh, actually, he said ‘your friend.’ Don’t worry, Monsieur Neuvillette, I didn’t breathe a word about who Madame is to you. I doubt he knows anything.”
Neuvillette raised an eyebrow at that, but didn’t pursue it any further. I suppose it’s alright if it’s Wriothesley, he thought. He is not the type of person to engage in idle gossip.
“He also says that he hopes Madame will like it, and that if she doesn’t, then feel free to ask him for another variety from his collection,” Sigewinne added.
“I do think she would enjoy it,” Neuvillette assured her, though he wondered about it. He didn’t believe he saw you drinking tea very much, except during the meeting with Furina. He did, however, remember seeing you drink Fonta on numerous occasions (it appears his endeavours to introduce you to the many varieties of water hadn’t yet borne fruit). Perhaps you preferred sweeter beverages. He tried to recall the pantry back home. Do we have enough sugar cubes or milk?
“Monsieur Neuvillette?” his musings were interrupted by Sigewinne’s voice. She was gazing up at him in confusion, her face tilted slightly.
Neuvillette shook his head, clearing it. “Pardon me, I was lost in my thoughts.” he said, then followed her to the couch, where they engaged in their usual conversation, which inevitably ended in her listening to his water commentary.
“Oh, by the way, Monsieur Neuvillette I really am looking forward to the sunflower viewing party in a few weeks. I can’t wait to finally meet Madame!” Sigewinne said after he finished talking about the properties of water from Mondstadt’s Cider Lake. “She sounds wonderful from what you’ve said of her. Did she come and watch your trials today? Has she already gone home? I don’t see her with you…”
“No…no, actually, she is currently attending her sister’s birthday party back home.”
“Oh, I see…” Sigewinne peered at his face, then glanced out the window. The rain seemed to have stopped completely, but there was no sign of the sun either. She suddenly turned back to peer into his face. “You must miss her.”
“Miss her? No, of course not. She will only be away until tomorrow,” Neuvillette said, almost automatically. But it was the truth. Besides, it was not as though he saw you every second of every day. In fact, it was rather common for him to only see you in the morning and at night. It should not be any different for this time, except for the fact that you would not be at home to greet him when he returned, or bid him good night or good morning…
Before I knew it, I’ve come to expect these things…
“Oh dear,” Sigewinne remarked as thunder rumbled. “Monsieur Neuvillette, how about we take a stroll through the streets? I’ve been wanting to check out the new beauty products on sale anyways.”
“Yes, let us do so,” Neuvillette agreed, then stood up. Guilt welled up within him. He didn’t feel himself lately, and he was letting it affect his emotional state far too much. He was even making Sigewinne worried about him.
Suddenly, an idea popped into his mind. “While we’re out, allow me to introduce you to a new drink called an ice cream soda. Madame introduced it to me yesterday. The flavor is quite intriguing. I do think you’ll like it.”
“Ooh, if you’re saying that, then I have to try it!” Sigewinne clapped her hands together excitedly.
A short time later, the two of them walked out of the ice cream shop with their drinks in hand, leaving behind astonished employees and gawking patrons. They sat down at a table in the back. Thankfully, the surrounding tables were empty due to the bad weather.
“This is good,” Sigewinne commented after she took a sip. “I especially love the fizzy soda bubbles. I’m going to tell the others about this later. …Monsieur Neuvillette, what’s wrong? Your brow is furrowed. Do you not like yours?”
“No, that’s not it…” Neuvillette murmured, staring at his soda. How peculiar. He was sure he had ordered the same flavor you had bought for him. It tasted the same as well. He could tell that objectively, nothing had changed. But what was this sense of wrongness. Is it the soda, perhaps? Did the shop change the variety they used today? Should I inquire about it?
Neuvillette glanced at the shop entrance, which now had a line of people stretching out of it, and decided against it. The staff should not waste their precious time on his trivial question.
He turned back to Sigewinne, who was watching him closely. “There is nothing wrong with my drink, exactly. It is just that it doesn’t quite taste the same as it had yesterday, even though it is the same drink.”
“That is strange…” Sigewinne tilted her small head to the side, as if in thought. “It’s unlikely they would change the recipe in just a day, right? Maybe Madame asked them to add a little something extra. You should ask her.”
“Perhaps I shall,” Neuvillette nodded, then took another sip of his soda. It wasn’t just his imagination--it really did taste different. It had been so hot yesterday. Perhaps that affected things.
All he knew was that the sweetness of the ice cream soda you bought him lingered in his mouth for the whole day.
“What I mean is, Monsieur Neuvillette, you should go and ask Madame now.”
Neuvillette blinked. “Now?” he repeated.
Sigewinne nodded vigorously. “Uh-huh. We both know that you can reach the other side of Fontaine in just a few minutes, and Sedene told me before that you don’t have anything important scheduled for the rest of the day.”
“That’s true, but…I cannot simply show up at her family’s home unexpectedly for such a trivial reason. It will only draw unnecessary attention, and it is already so terribly late in the day…”
He found himself making excuses one after the other. They sounded empty to his ears, even though there was sound reason behind them.
He was no stranger to the clash between emotion and logic--it was something he struggled with all too often. This was no exception. He didn’t understand why that brief look of disappointment had flashed across your face when you asked him if he would like to accompany you to the birthday party. Surely you knew that it was better for you two to not be seen together too much. He did not understand why you had asked him in the first place, nor why the first thing on the tip of his tongue was to say “Yes,” nor why your subsequent justification for his sake had stung him.
If he went to you right now, would he find the answers to those questions?
“Monsieur Neuvillette…” Sigewinne crossed her arms. “It seems to me like you’re making excuses for yourself. If I invited you to my party, I would be happy that you showed up no matter how late. But if you’re worried about it, then…” she rummaged through her bag and took out a small vial. “Here! Give this to Madame’s sister.”
Neuvillette took the vial and examined the label. “A skin serum?”
“I made it myself! Skincare is all the rage among young ladies of the Court these days. Tell her that it’s from me. Everyone loves receiving gifts on their birthday, after all, so maybe this will help soften the blow of your lateness.”
“I’m still not sure if I should take leave for such an inconsequential matter,” Neuvillette hesitated, even as his mind was calculating the time it would take to go from the Court to your hometown near the mountains in the northeast. I do think I’ll be able to get there before dark. “What if an emergency comes up?”
“The Gardes can handle anything,” Sigewinne assured him. “And I don’t think it’s inconsequential at all! You were invited as a guest. I’m sure your presence there will make everyone very happy, including Madame.”
“If you say so, Sigewinne, then I suppose I could stop by for a little bit and give your present,” Neuvillette was already standing up. “I do apologize that I can’t spend more time with you today.”
“Don’t worry! We’ll see each other again at the sunflower viewing party at your house,” Sigewinne smiled at him. “I can’t wait to meet Madame.”
“I feel the same way. She would be delighted to meet you as well,” he said, and meant every word of it.
After saying his goodbyes, he quickly strode away, back to the Palais. I have to write a note of absence for Furina first, and then collect some things. What sort of water would be appropriate for a birthday party, I wonder…
“Monsieur Neuvillette is already very cute, but he’s gotten even more adorable lately,” Sigewinne murmured to herself as she observed the sun breaking through the dense clouds at last.

victors and fools
i just finished the whole lyney and lynette court case and oh my god..... i had to write something out for it because i'm full of ideas and no way to get them out other than my silly little brain rots.
it's surprising that a crime could take place in such a place as The Opera Epiclese, but you're not surprised that Furina is taking her chance to try and prove herself superior to the powerful outlander, especially after her first attempt was foiled by none other than the accused.
But even then, you don't interfere. You see no reason to, after all Furina would never stoop as low as falsely accusing someone to get her way, neither you nor Neuvillette would allow her to go that far.
Speaking of Neuvillette, he's one of the other reasons you're not interfering. He takes his job of Chief Justice seriously, as he should, for the sake of Fontaine and the justice it upholds. So, the outcome will be the truth.
You don't really care about any of that, you want to see the Traveler in action as an attorney. It should be funny enough to see them bring Furina down a peg.
As much as you adored her, she could be arrogant at times. Sly and demanding, you usually didn't mind but her near desperation to prove herself above the traveller and paimon was becoming annoying.
You sat in a seat that had been guided to, where everyone could only look up and see you, watching it all pass on with amusement or a contemplating look.
as the trial came to its conclusion and Furina's accusation was proved wrong, she looked over at you as you got up. Your starry eyes glanced over at her, unreadable.
That was new. You always allowed yourself to be an open book around those of your acolytes that you spent your times with. Usually a smile graced your face as you looked at her but a frown marred your lips as you turned and left, not stopping even as she ran out after you, shouting after you.
"Y-your Grace!" She called out for you, easily catching up to your slowed pace as she looked up at you, a nervous guilt in her eyes. "I-If I had only known-"
"You accused him and instigated a second duel with the traveler." You mused, looking down at her, the look on your face indicating that you were thinking. "....To prove that you were above them, above the other Archons?"
She frantically tried to figure out if you were truly upset at her. There was no rain or thunder or anything indicating that Teyvat had responded to you upset feelings. She relaxed only a bit. "I am above them! All of them! They were defeated so easily, I won't be. B... But, I will no longer regard them as a threat..."
You looked down at her for a moment as if looking right into her soul before you sighed, the same ever-suffering sigh you always let out when she caused chaos and dragged it right to you. "Haah, what will I do with you?" You rubbed your face gently. "You can be so irritatingly arrogant sometimes. Don't tell me you did this just because you're jealous of the attention and praise i gave them?"
Furina turned her face away from him, leading you to raise an eyebrow down at her form. "...Okay, I won't tell you anything, Your Grace."
"You're insufferable." You sighed as you started to walk forward again, not saying a word as she hurried to catch up to you once more, clinging to your arm. "....That dessert shop you like is still open, do you still want to get dessert? 'One must always have dessert after entertainment'." You imitated her voice in the last part, still looking forward.
She smiled brightly up at you, still clinging to you. "Mmm! Your Grace knows me so well, I'm honored! Let's get dessert!" She seemed happy by it so you let it be.
Just another day for the Hydro Archon and the Creator of Teyvat.

Hi! I was wondering if you could write another part for Otter creator! Like maybe them with Furina and Neuvillette having a tea party or something! (Possibly Wriothesley[?]!!), and they start realising more! (If Wriothesley’s there he should be oblivious for a bit!)
The Otter Chronicles Pt. 1
♡︎ « Next Part ⋙
૮꒰˶ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ˶꒱ა Pairings : GN! Otter Reader x Fontaine
૮꒰ྀི∩´ ᵕ `∩꒱ྀིა W.K. : 1.3k
໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১ Tags/CW&TW : Fluff, yandere-ish behavior (really straining the term here), itty bitty bit of angst
“Tea party, hooray!” It was easy to see that Furina was excited.
Because today was the day for your first REAL tea party. Not just locked in a room with her for a day.
And yes you meant a literal day. Like a whole ass day.
Anyway-
Her and Neuvillette were going to FINALLY take you to meet Wriothesley! Yay! It was just a date to take about some royal officiant bullshit you couldn’t bring yourself to care about, but as per usual, they refused to take you out of their sights.
So here you were, getting all dolled up in Lady Furina’s lap. A new bow tie, a fancier hat, and somehow Otter friendly makeup.
Where they found it? You don’t know. Did they make it? You’re 99.9% sure they had it commissioned. Do you look good with cate eye eyeliner? Hell yes.
You were now being carried in the Otter Pack™️ (a rather large and plush satchel that Neuvillette carried around, filled with lush blankets and pillows and only the FINEST toys for you to play with) with your head sticking out of the top, your fur freshly combed and oiled. Neuvillette’s fingers curled through what wasn’t covered by the hat.
Hell, you even had on some adorable golden and lapis embedded clip on earrings - they wouldn’t dare pierce your ears for fear of hurting you and damaging your hearing.
People cooed at you in your Otter Pack™️ and you sucked that shit up, you were basically drowning in sparkles!~ All the while Furina and Neuvillette spoke above you.
“Are we sure we should bring mon preux chevalier? I mean, naturally we should share their beauty with the world but… in a place filled with criminals..?” Furina spoke in a hushed tone, not wanting you to hear her.
“I understand my Lady, but there is no one to trust to take care of them. Who will give them their favorite treats? Shine their coat? Scratch their tummy? No can do it the way we can, Lady Furina. Besides, we are here for only a Tea Party, it should only last around two hours with the matter we must discuss. Three hours at the latest.” Neuvillette replied. Though in truth, he had just as many issues with the whole situation.
It truly was a shame no one was as capable to take care of their darling Otter as them. *Dramatic sigh in French*
Arriving at the entrance to the Fortress of Meropide, the duo were ushered inside and directly into Wriothesley’s office.
“Lady Furina! Monsieur Neuvillette! How nice it is to have you in humble prison. Please, follow me.” Wriothesley smoothly opened the conversation, leading the duo to his tea table. Finally, he noticed the Otter Pack™️.
“*Ahem* I see we have a… guest?” Wriothesley mused. See he hadn’t been on the surface for a bit, and news travels slow beneath the waves, so had had no clue of the big hydro duo’s new friend.
“Yea. This is Le superviseur officiel du jury du palais de justice de Fontaine. La Loutre de l'Opéra Eclipse*.” Neuvillette responded curtly. You chittered happily at the title you had just been given as off the last trial held. And Wriothesley only sweated at the long title.
“I… see. Anyway, if we are ready to begin…” And with that you stopped listening.
You had been here for barely a few minutes and you were already bored. See, usually with Furina, something would be happening. Something spectacular! Or intriguing! Never had you seen her in such a… boring environment. Hell, you could tell she was bored but you supposed that being an Archon came with other bullshit jobs other than being pretty and revered.
You hopped out of the Otter Pack™️ and snuggled up in Neuvillette’s lap, and noticed the extra teacup in front of you. Chittering, you sniffed and licked at it, then curled up once more.
You were trying to hide your boredom, but seemed to be failing as you felt Neuvillette’s fingers comb through the fur on your back. You basically purred at the affection, before sighing. Furina turned to you and called out to you.
“Mon ange? Are you bored? Well I, Furina, have just the cure!~” She said in a sing-songy tune. After, she waved her hand and in a puff of hydro, Gentilhomme Usher, Surintendante Chevalmarin and Mademoiselle Crabaletta were summoned.
You jumped up, messing up your hat and allowing Neuvillette to fix it, before the four of you jumped up to play. The three swam around you in the air while you followed quickly on the floor, causing the three to laugh. Though, Neuvillette noticed something.
Now, already he and Furina noticed you were smarter than other Otters, being able to understand human speech. You could solve puzzles, and once you had even helped solve a rather hard case! But this was… something else.
Gentilhomme Usher, Surintendante Chevalmarin and Mademoiselle Crabaletta and even Singer of Many Waters could speak… kind of. They had their own little babbly language that only Furina could only understand sometimes, and even then it was rocky. That’s why they mostly acted out their wants and needs with over the top gestures… but you.
An otter.
Could understand them perfectly.
You weren’t the only otter they had been summoned around, but then those otter would run away or stay around in curiosity.
But you could understand everything.
You could understand what a god couldn’t.
And that’s when something inside the Dragon Sovereign clicked.
He had been an avid follower of The Creator. The one Above all. Listening gently to all their false promises of bringing his brethren back. If fixing this world of its problems. He would watch as they only cared for themselves. As they punished anyone who went against them. Punished the innocent. As they lavished in the foods and clothes and jewels bestowed upon them by their followers.
Yet the flowers wouldn’t bloom in their presence. The wind wouldn’t blow gently through their hair. The ground and earth wouldn’t stop its quakes. The water would calm its waves. The lightning wouldn’t slow its descent. The fires wouldn’t lower their flames. The ice wouldn’t smooth over and slow the snow.
In fact, flowers would wilt when around them. The wind would whip into windstorms and the earth would rumble with ferocity. Water would rise to heights uncharted and lightning would strike behind their heels. Flame would rise higher and higher and fill the air with ash and snow would turn to hail, ice turning to sharp points around them.
It was the opposite with their darling Otter. He knew something was… not quite right with them. They always had this feel about them.
The melusine would act weirdly about them. Giving them wider smiles and now that he was thinking about it truly… they seemed to always know what they wanted. Even the Clockwork Meka would bow in their presence. When they swam it was always as though the current would work with them, and fish and other creatures of the sea would always surround them, following behind them… almost like…
A veil.
A veil that matched the one their creator always had on in every art of them.
On any statue.
In any painting.
In any description in every book.
They always had a veil.
And glancing at their beloved otter?
Their blue tuff of fur? They lined their back? Combined with the flowing fabrics of their top hat?
Created a veil.
“Excuse me Wriothesley, me Lady Furina must go discuss something. Please keep an eye on ma moitié for us please.” Neuvillette spoke quickly, gently gripping Furina’s arm as she protested, and they both left the room.
You and the three summons looked at the closing office door, then at Wriothesley. He stared back.
“Uhm… hello there, little otter.”
You only chittered in response.
And as Neuvillette and Furina rounded a corner, the Sovereign pressed a hand to her complaining lips.
“My Lady, firstly, my sincerest apologies for dragging you out here. Secondly, I believe I have made a… shocking discovery about our ˈbābē…” Neuvillette’s voice was hushed, making Furina nervous.
“What.. what do you think you found..?” She asked.
“I believe… our darling Otter… is the true Creator…”
໒꒰ྀི˶˙Ⱉ˙˶꒱ྀིა Author’s note : Hehehehe… How will Furina react to this knowledge? What with Neuvillette do with this information? And will Wriothesley ever get over seeing an Otter so close to his Archon? Tune in next week to find out!~
Anyway, I love this and where it’s going! I haven’t had to write any angst and I feel it coming now! Hehehe ૮ ˶´ ᵕˋ ˶ა

Time for Early Access Games of Divinity says I
______
“Do not be accusatory.”
“Is there a non-accusatory way of accusing someone that I am unaware of?”
“We are not accusing her of anything, Neuvillette.”
“If you insist-”
“I do.”
“...it’s just rather odd-”
“Neuvillette-”
“That a killer with a Millelith badge arrives in Fontaine hours after the adepti, that’s all.”
“Everything about this bloody weekend is odd,” Furina sighed. “Let’s not make it worse by aggravating Rex Lapis’ lover.”
“H-His what?” Neuvillette hissed.
“Apparently he has a collection of lovers,” Furina mused. “I suppose it’s a draconic thing.”
“Perhaps for lesser dragons,” Neuvillette muttered, stiffening as the captain he dispatched to retrieve Cloud Retainer stuck her head in the door. “Is she here?”
“Yes sir; came without a fuss,” the officer said, stepping aside to allow Cloud Retainer to sweep into the room. “Shall I leave a few gardes with you, sir?”
“Thank you, Vanessa; please leave us alone,” Furina said, waving the garde off. “M. Neuvillette will see to my safety.”
“Safety?” Cloud Retainer echoed, studying Furina over the rim of her glasses. “Has one given you reason to fear for your safety?”
“We are…determining that,” Neuvillette said. “I apologize that we must meet under such unpleasant circumstances, Madam Cloud Retainer, but Lady Furina has recently been attacked along with several of our guests.”
“Attacked?” Cloud Retainer’s confusion slowly morphed into a look of grim realization. “I see…and you believe one had some hand in this?”
“We currently do not believe anything with certainty, madam,” Furina interjected before Neuvillette could judge too harshly. “However, the assassin in question carried a badge of the Millelith on his person. As such-”
“You brought one in to be questioned,” Cloud Retainer huffed. “What happened?”
“An archer fired an arrow that narrowly missed striking the Archon’s throat,” Neuvillette said, eyes narrowing as Cloud Retainer laughed. “Forgive me, did I say something amusing?”
“An archer fired an arrow?” Cloud Retainer scoffed. “Do you truly suspect that one is involved with such a laughable assassination attempt?”
“We thought you should be aware that your countryman is awaiting the prosecutor’s questioning in the Opera detention hall,” Neuvillette said. “Please see things from my perspective; your officer shot one of our guests-”
“Whoever shot the Archon is no officer of ours!” Cloud Retainer insisted. “Need I remind you that the adepti in your country swore an oath bound by Rex Lapis to not cause trouble while we were your guests!”
“The man who struck at us is no adeptus,” Neuvillette countered. “I imagine Rex Lapis’ contract says nothing about using other people to cause mayhem on your behalf.”
“Rex Lapis is not a lawyer that operates on technicalities!” Cloud Retainer sniffed, hair puffing slightly like an irritated songbird. “Besides, if one was alone in a room with Lady Furina for half an hour without the company of her gardes…if one wished her harm, one would have taken the opportunity to harm her when it presented itself.”
“You were alone with her?” Neuvillette asked, glancing at Furina.
“I…needed a moment to speak with her privately,” Furina coughed.
“And you needed to be unguarded for this?” Neuvillette hissed. “Lady Furina-”
“I-I am clearly fine!” Furina said, holding her hands up. “But talk had turned to a certain Sovereign and I thought it would be imprudent to have my ladies in earshot…you have to admit it is odd that Cloud Retainer didn’t try and attack me in private.”
“One can tell you have never seriously contemplated killing a god,” Cloud Retainer sighed. “It is not an easy matter; if Rex Lapis intended to slay you, he would have sent more than one Millelith to say the very least. He has killed enough deities to know that shooting a god is not enough to kill one.”
Shooting a human, on the other hand…, Furina thought, glancing at Neuvillette’s stony expression.
“I will admit I have seen better attempts on the Archon’s life…but I still cannot say you are above suspicion,” Neuvillette said.
“Your suspicion befits a judge…even if one finds it terribly tiring,” Cloud Retainer sighed. “Very well; one will assist you in uncovering the truth of this matter so as to put your suspicions to rest.”
“Assist us?” Neuvillette echoed. “That is kind of you, but-”
“One cannot allow the honor of the adepti or Liyue to be sullied by reckless mortals,” Cloud Retainer sniffed. “It is intolerable that such a rogue has assaulted one’s host…and spoiled one’s plans to examine Egeria’s handiwork more closely; whoever is behind this must first answer for spoiling one’s holiday before one will permit him to face your judgment.”
Furina shared an uncertain glance with Neuvillette, weighing her options silently. On one hand, Cloud Retainer herself had done little to warrant suspicion. Liyue was a big nation and the adepti couldn’t be responsible for everyone. The trouble was that if Furina was wrong and Cloud Retainer was trying to kill her, her whole country and every soul in it would be doomed to a watery grave. Such dizzying stakes made even the smallest suspicions matters of life and death and trust a very dangerous thing.
“...can you prove the assassin is not working with the Millelith?” Furina asked.
“One has precious few dealings with the humans in Liyue Harbor and is hardly an expert on the mundanity of mortal life,” Cloud Retainer said. “One has not been involved with the Millelith since their inception…but one may be able to summon an expert witness who has overseen the Millelith for a long time.”
“I think I know of whom you speak…and I am very reluctant to bring him back into my country,” Neuvillette growled.
“Rex Lapis,” Furina said, the sound of the god’s name deepening Neuvillette’s scowl. “Your god entered our country under false pretenses the last time he was here-”
“Rex Lapis was invited, as one recalls; or at the very least, you invited the foremost healer of the adepti to assess your dragon’s…condition,” Cloud Retainer bristled. “And given the somewhat complex history between Celestia and Neuvillette’s predecessor, he thought it prudent to withhold certain details. Had Neuvillette not lost his temper-”
“Had your so-called god not made a impertinent joke about Lady Furina-”
“Oh enough!” Furina snapped, slamming her hands on the desk forestalling another argument between two self-important immortals. “That is quite enough ‘had-nots’ for one conversation thank you. If we are to accuse Madam Cloud Retainer of nefarious deeds, then the laws of our country state that she may call witnesses to challenge our claims…provided he or the Conqueror of Demons do not assault my Iudex again!”
Privately, she thought Neuvillette was being a little stubborn about his hatred towards Rex Lapis, but she could always tell him that when they were alone. He never questioned or challenged her in public and she was not about to deny him the same courtesy in front of Cloud Retainer.
“That was…” Cloud Retainer took a deep breath. “...one is certain we can avoid any unpleasantness provided we all mind our manners and focus on the task at hand. Rex Lapis will wish to clear his peoples’ name and ease any suspicion between the Court of Fontaine and Liyue Harbor so he will no doubt be cooperative.”
Neuvillette looked far from convinced, but he seemed to be biting his tongue, waiting for Furina to speak. It would be bad form for him to decide this for her, so the heavy decision of bringing another Archon into her country fell on her shoulders once again.
“For the moment, you may enjoy the city and the festivities with a few gardes to ensure you are telling the truth,” Furina said. “The suspect is in custody and will be there in the morning…and I have a dinner party to host in a few hours so I think we will have to pick this up in the morning. How long will it take for Rex Lapis to arrive?”
“I…one is confident that he will be in the city tomorrow morning if he needs to be,” Cloud Retainer said carefully. “Your Eminence may speak with him when-”
“I will deal with Rex Lapis,” Neuvillette said curtly.
“I-I think we will determine who will deal with Rex Lapis later,” Furina laughed, shooting Neuvillette a glare out of the corner of her eye.
“Lady Furina has many engagements this weekend and guests that demand her attention,” Neuvillette said, returning her glare with a pleasant smile. “I will not allow a hiccup such as this to spoil a gathering she has been planning for a decade now.”
“Oh you are too kind, M. Neuvillette!” Furina laughed, patting him on the arm with a little too much force. “But I would be remiss in not greeting my fellow Archon!”
“I am sure Rex Lapis understands that you are a busy woman who cannot attend to every trifling errand.”
“I would hardly call the Lord of Geo’s presence a trifling thing; such a mighty guest demands the attention of the Archon herself!”
“Or a servant of suitable pedigree.”
“One does not care if one or both of you attend to Rex Lapis!” Cloud Retainer huffed, interrupting a building spat between the two. “One will make the proper arrangements and return in time for dinner; one swears upon her dignity as an adeptus that one will not desert you or otherwise betray your confidence while she is contacting Rex Lapis.”
“Forgive me…through no fault of your own, I find it very hard to trust that,” Neuvillette said.
“It is only hard to trust us because you lack practice, my lord,” Cloud Retainer said. “And if you do not trust one to summon an expert witness, why should one believe you will trust his testimony?”
“She has a point…and while I share my Iudex’s reservations, I suppose we must start at least engaging in good faith,” Furina sighed. “Make your preparations…and try not to eat anything too heavy, my chefs have prepared a twelve course tasting menu for the evening.”
Ever the gracious hostess, Neuvillette thought. “The Archon is placing her trust in you…I hope you understand how rare a thing that is.”
“One is dutifully grateful,” Cloud Retainer said civilly. “Though one is a touch miffed that one is not able to attend the comedy exhibition in the Grand Pavilion.”
“Comedy? The Grand Pavilion is due to host a scientific exhibition from some of the world’s leading human scientists,” Neuvillette said, drawing a sharp laugh from Cloud Retainer. “One knows,” Cloud Retainer chuckled. “Is it not just adorable what humans consider impressive feats of science?”

empress pulling the "draw me like one of your french girls" on the fontaine women or vice versa
this came (haha) to me in a dream
-🗿
A reverse version of my Be My Muse fic 🤭
I imagine that the Empress has been looking to be painted for a while (she’s always wanted one of those extravagant, fancy, nude paintings that royalty seem to always have) so she asks the Fontaine courtesans if they could “draw her like one of your Fontaine girls” and one by one all the Fontaine women would agree 💕
Can you imagine, just how flustered Furina would be out of all of them, though? The other Fontaine women are able to keep their composure (mostly, as some of them are blushing madly and fanning their faces) but if Furina of all people was chosen to paint the Empress? Oh goodness. That woman is getting wet/a boner and you could see it while she desperately tries to paint you properly 😭😭
Empress: Furina? What’s that in your pants?
Furina: A-A paint brush—!
