God its been a while. So since the new leaks and season 6 had brought a lot of attention towards My Hero Academia and my past obsession with it is renewed i might as well write some headcanons. And what is better than the clasic relationship headcanons for the todoroki siblings.
Shoto
Relationship with Shoto is a weird experience.
You would have to be the one to propose and even when you do he still wont believe you.
He still sees that bastard of a father in him partially, so dont blame him for not believing you at first.
But after you guys have been together for a while, god help you both. I cannot say who would be more obsessed with the other.
Dinner dates, celebrations, small gifts every small and cheezy thing couples do, you guys do it twice as much.
He loves it when you play with his hair, or massage him. Any kind of gentle and loving physical contact to be honest, since he didn't got much before you.
If you pay attention to his scar, that would be a very intimate moment for him. Tho i cannot say he'd be that much of a sucker for that, he really appreciates the meaning behind the gesture.
Oh and expect to have to explain a lot of stuff to him. Like why some couples to something, but others don't.
He'd have some of a learning cerve when it comes to relationships.
Just dont get i the way of his dream, he'll be heartbroken if you do.
Natsuo
A hard case to write for sinc ewe dint have much information.
He doesn't seem like the guys to go for a hook up in university. So hed either be alone for a while or somehow have that uni dream of finding your dream partner during it.
So to be honest his family is a sensitive topic for him, so no meeting them for a long while.
When you do end up meeting them, hed go one by one, his mother probably first, then Shoto and Fuyumi. Hed keep you away from Endeavor as much as possible.
He does have a bit of anger issues, but he is well aware, so he might storm off once in a while. Then hed return with something as an apology, be it a flower, a chocolate just anything to make up for his outburst.
He's the sweetest though. He wont be as love sick as Shoto, but he would apreciate when you tell him how much you love him. He hasnt heard thay much so it means the word ro him when you do it.
But dont get me wrong he'd know when you lie, or ot isnt sincere.
Fuyumi
We don't kniw much about her except she loves her whole family no matter what shes been through because of them.
She'd look for someone who is just as willing to start a family with her.
She just seems like the person that knew early on that wanted a good and loving family.
She'd want someone with relatively thhe same values as her, so there is less of a chance to end up like her parents.
With her work she is pretty busy, and i guess her partner too. So the ocasional dinner/breakfasts date is so well appreciated.
She definitely makes bento boxes to her partner, every time she gets the chance.
If her partner is a woman her mother will be very supportive (not only for her too), but her father i doubt hell like it. I say that for her specifically because the boys dont care at all what their father will think.
Toya(Dabi)
Honestly good luck being with him, he's a manace. And ton take that as teasing king.
He loves teasing tho, but sometimes he says too much and might end up hurting you if you take stuff to heart.
His goal takes first place, thats a fact and no matter who you are to him it stays that way.
Doubt he can even love you, not in a normal way that is. Its closer to care than love. And to get to that point it would take a while.
But lets say you got lucky, and you get him for yourself. Dont bother being jealous, he has no eyes for anyone else in that way, youre probably his first romantic partner anyway.
I read somewhere that he and his paryner use each other with a lot of trust and a little emotion in the mix. And cannot say that this is anything but true.
He has anger issues, but unlike Natsu he doent show it untill its boiling in him. So unless you are someone that can take shouting well. You better get away as fast as you can. Hed cool down in a few minutes tho.
I think the best way to sgow him live it first is acts of service, show him that you care. Then comes physical touch, once he lets you touch him. For him touching is far more intimate than anything else.
Touch his scars and he will literaly melt in your hands. Unlike for Shoto, his scars are far bigger part of who he is as a person now and what hes been through as well. So i guess it would be like you see him now, but don't disregard his past at the same time.

Hi! A prompt, if you don't mind. Since there's not many content with Todoroki siblings, maybe some family bonding with lee Shoto and lers Natsuo and Fuyumi. Like, Shoto finally feels comfortable and close to them enough for cuddles and affection, and they realise their baby brother is touch-starved (and unexpectedly ticklish)
I- I cannot even put into words how much I enjoyed this prompt! I absolutely loved every minute of writing this and I'm so glad you decided to send it to me! Poor Shouto is so touch starved and I love every opportunity I get to give him some much needed love! I really hope you guys like it!^^
Better Late than Never
Lers: Fuyumi and Natsuo Todoroki
Lee: Shouto Todoroki
"Hey. Can you guys tickle me?"
Fuyumi couldn't even blame Natsuo when he promptly started choking on the soda he'd been drinking in surprise. Of all the things that she would have expected her socially inept younger brother to say, it certainly wasn't that.
The three of them had been hanging out in the living room together, watching some animated movies that Shouto had borrowed from one of his classmates, Izuku Midoriya. That green haired kid that he'd fought during the UA Sports Festival.
Apparently, their youngest sibling had been doing some 'research' as he put it, on sibling bonding techniques, and had been interviewing a few of his classmates to figure out what they liked to do with their siblings. Tonight he'd suggested the three of them have a family movie night while their father was away on a business trip and he had some time off from school, an idea he'd gotten from his classmate, Hanta Sero.
Ecstatic that their little brother finally seemed ready to open up to them, they immediately agreed, and the three of them were currently cuddled up together in the impromptu blanket fort that Shouto had insisted was a must when it came to a proper family movie night because, 'Sero said so.'
And so it was.
Admittedly, things had been going pretty well up until now, when their stoic peppermint of a little brother had turned to them, family bonding list in hand, and had asked, in the most blank tone possible, if they could tickle him of all things.
"Shouto, um, if you don't mind me asking, what brought on that question?" Fuyumi asked after a moment, patting Natsuo's back firmly while he still struggled to catch his breath after almost drowning himself in Fanta. Shouto didn't even bat an eye at his older brother's near death experience, and instead kept his expression carefully emotionless. However, he was fiddling with the hem of his shirt slightly, as if he might be nervous.
"Oh. Well, Kirishima said he likes to bond with his younger siblings by tickling them. I'm the youngest, so I just thought maybe that's how it was supposed to go and that maybe we could do that too." He explained calmly, though there was a tad bit of barely noticeable apprehension there as well. "Is that… Wrong?" He asked hesitantly, tilting his head and taking on a rare expression of clear confusion as he started flipping through his notes again. Fuyumi couldn't decide whether the sight was adorable or flat out hilarious. Heck. Maybe it was a little of both.
"Oh! No! No of course it's not wrong! Just.. a little unexpected? I guess it's just surprising! Not bad though. It's good actually! Really good!" She answered hurriedly, not wanting to ruin this rare moment of trust Shouto was showing. He'd never really gotten the chance to bond with them properly when they were little, and his social skills definitely left something to be desired, so for him to be purposefully seeking out the opportunity to do normal siblings things with them? Especially things like physical displays of affection? Well, that was a pretty big deal.
He looked up at her and blinked, relaxing after a moment and setting his notes aside, seemingly satisfied with her hasty explanation.
"Oh." He said after a pause. "So.. You'll.. You'll do it then?" He asked quietly, and if she didn't know any better, it looked like he might even be blushing. Fuyumi couldn't help allowing herself a fond smile. When had her little brother gotten so adorable dang it?! There was definitely no way she could say no to that!
Rather than giving a verbal answer right away though, she instead let her expression morph into something a tad more mischievous and looked over at Natsuo, who had by some miracle managed to recover from his coughing fit. "Hey Natsu? Remember that thing Touya used to do to us when we were kids?" She asked with a smirk, suddenly scooping up their little brother from behind and pulling him into her lap when he wasn't looking, catching him off guard. She quickly wrapped her arms around his torso, trapping him effectively while simultaneously preventing him from being able to bring his arms all the way down, leaving him exposed.
Natsuo looked just as confused as Shouto did for a moment before realization suddenly seemed to hit him. Back when they were younger, sometimes Touya would scoop one of them up into his lap and trap them there, then he'd warningly tell them, "Don't laugh or flinch at all or else~" and wiggle his fingers just above their stomach, occasionally pretending to dip his hand down before bringing it back up again. This would go on until eventually they'd break and he'd finally start clawing into their sides or ribs or armpits. It was never the same spot, and so the inability to guess or prepare for it always made it so much worse. They loved it, and hopefully, so would Shouto now that he would actually have a chance to play.
He smiled slightly at the memory before crawling over to sit in front of his two siblings, the younger of them looking more than a little confused. "Um. What are you two doing? What did Touya used to do?" He asked, voice deceptively calm even as an anxious smile was starting to pull at his lips. Just because he'd never been allowed to participate didn't mean he hadn't seen his siblings playing this game before, and he had to admit, it was kind of exciting to finally be a part of it, even if he was a bit nervous.
"What do you mean 'what are we doing'? You wanted us to tickle you right? So what better time than now to teach our dear little Shouto about our favorite tickle game hm?" Fuyumi teased, making him squirm a bit in anticipation as he watched Natsuo slowly move his hands toward his stomach, which he sucked in instinctively.
"The rules are simple." Fuyumi began, "Don't laugh,"
"Or flinch at all-" Natsuo joined.
"Or else~" They finished together, and with that, the game had begun.
Shouto held up pretty good for about seven minutes. After all, due to both his extensive training on self control as a child and the countless tickle fights he'd already gotten into with his classmates back at the dorms, he'd managed to build up a fair amount of resistance, and he remained stubbornly quiet and still no matter how many times Natsuo tried to catch him off guard. That is until Fuyumi decided to cheat by pinching his side right at the exact moment Natsuo decided to bring his hand down again, and he arched his back in surprise right into his older brother's waiting fingers.
"GYAH- Ahahahahaha! No! Nohoho wait!! Fuyuhuhumi you cheheheheater!!!" He laughed, collapsing into his sister's chest as Natsuo started digging into his sides. "Cheater? Me? Are you hearing this Natsu? Shouto's accusing me of being a cheater! The nerve!" Fuyumi exclaimed, feigning outrage as she joined in by scribbling her fingers over his ribs and into his armpits, making him squeal adorably. By now, he'd been squirming around so much that his head had ended up cradled in her lap, giving her a perfect view of his joyful smile. The sight of her little brother, so happy and carefree in this moment, it almost brought her to tears, and she couldn't resist the urge to discretely snap a few quick pictures of the scene with her phone, both as a keepsake and to send to their mom later along with the others she'd gotten throughout the night.
"NONONONO!! NOT THEHEHERE! NOT THE FEET NATSUHUHU!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Shouto honestly couldn't remember a time he'd felt this much joy. Tickle fights with his classmates were always fun, sure, but this? This level of closeness and affection being shared between him and his siblings right now? It was like having a hole filled that had been empty for far to long. He never wanted it to stop.
"What? Not here? Why not? Is someone a little sensitive riiight here~?"
"YEHEHEHES! I AHAHAM! PLEASE! PLEAHEASE STAHAHAHAP!!! I'M DONE FOR NOHOHOW!!""
Okay he didn't want it to stop, but maybe, um, maybe he did need to breathe though. His siblings seem to recognize this as well and quickly let up. He shot them both a grateful smile as he curled into a ball on his side, still giggling. This time, Natsuo was the one who couldn't resist the urge to record it.
"I.. I love you... Guys.." Shouto mumbled between giggles, and they both froze. Did- Did he really just?...
Shouto barely had time to process what was happening before he was literally being crushed in a bear hug between his two siblings, and despite his sudden inability to breathe again, he returned the embrace happily because maybe.. Maybe this is what he'd been missing all along.

Tangy Starfruit and White Sea Foam (Tiger!Todoroki x Reader)
Tumblr media
Warnings: none, unless you count ridiculous amounts of fluff and shenanigans (oh and cursing). hints of BKDK and Kami x Jirou, pro-hero AU, aged-up!AU, Todoroki’s a tiger as a result of a quirk accident that happened on the job. Todoroki and reader are in a established relationship. Bakugou gets tied to a tree, Shinsou and Tsuyu are good friends, you and Todoroki may have a mishap on your hands in the near future. Featuring the rest of class A + Shinsou.
A/N: third and final piece for @ultimate-astridwriting ‘s hybrid collab!! i had an entirely different thing written out for tiger todoroki, it was 2.5k words full of angst bc real life is shitty atm but then bam, i got an idea while eating dinner and now here we are xD. get ready for sun and sand at the beach with a graduated class A!!
Words: 7k
Tumblr media
Golden sun raised high in the sky scorched the earth below, turning the pristine white sand into scalding hot lava. But that didn’t hold back the group of 22 from surging forth.
Happy squeals that tumbled from the girls as they caught sight of the sparkling blue waves dancing on the horizon turned into wheezing laughs and yelps as the sand burned their bare feet.
Jirou whooped, a wide smile stretched across her face as she grabbed Yaoyorozu’s hand. “Last one in is a rotten egg!!”
“No fair, Kyoka-chan!!” Uraraka huffed as she pumped her short legs to go faster and catch up.
Kaminari hollered obnoxiously, screaming all the way into the ocean as he tore right past you.
“Do not run!!!!” Iida yelled, trying to make himself be heard above the clamor but to no avail.
You smiled at him sympathetically but he merely shook his head and followed after them to make sure none of his former classmates hurt themselves.
They’re lucky to have you… You thought to yourself, clapping a hand over your mouth when the sound of him scolding Mina and Sero reached your ears from all the way across the deserted beach.
You had found this isolated spot a long time ago, back when you lived on your own and had yet the privilege of calling anyone family. This was a place of comfort for you, a gem hidden away from the greedy eyes of the world looking to corrupt anything and everything that was pure.
Here, you found solace. You found peace.
After you graduated from UA and everyone was giving each other teary goodbye hugs in the common floor filled with all the boxes of things they all had to move into moving trucks, you offered up one day. One day, if everyone wanted to come, you would show them a place very special to you.
The girls had a vague idea of where you guys were going based on the swimsuit dress code. In all honesty, maybe you should’ve made it a little harder for them, but they were your friends. And you were too excited.
Here, on this beach hidden by dense foliage and sheer cliffs, your little piece of paradise remained a secret. Until now.
“Y/N, come on!!!” Hagakure shouted, waving excitedly for you to join them.
“In a minute!!” You yelled back, looking back to see if your boyfriend was following. “Shouto?”
You spun around in a full circle when you couldn’t find him, a frown twisting your features until Shoji came up behind you and tapped you on the shoulder.
“He’s coming.” He told you, jerking his chin back a few paces the way you guys came to signal where he last saw him.
You shot him a look of relief for his well-timed reassurance. “Thanks.”
Shoji dipped his head, hoisting the basket slung over his shoulder higher as he motioned for Tokoyami to pass you. “No problem.”
A skeptical Tokoyami followed the gentle giant, muttering under his breath why the use of quirks had to be banned for today. Koda waved to you shyly and you smiled.
Iida had made it a rule for the day that no quirks were allowed to be used unless in case of an emergency. This was to do damage control and hopefully prevent a fight between Bakugou and literally anyone else.
No one had any arguments. They were all here to relax, not think about their work life. All villains and life outside of this paradise was put on hold until tomorrow came.
You decided to wait until Todoroki caught up with you, and since everyone had raced on ahead, eager to soak up as much sun as they could on the one off day they were all able to get off together, you leaned back against the rough rock and tilted your head up to the sky.
Sighing wistfully, your eyes fluttered shut as the sun’s blazing afternoon rays warmed your body.
You knew what showing them this place meant, and you knew that your friends were fully aware of it. It had been something so special to you for so long that you sharing it with them meant that you trusted them a great deal.
They were honored.
As rising pro-heroes in the world, they were constantly swamped with malicious villains, endless paperwork, press conferences and training the next generation. There was no time for rest.
But your former classmates were insistent that time be taken out for that purpose amidst all the craziness, especially Bakugou.
Down time was important. It was necessary. Or else you all would burnout and then none of you would be any good to save anybody.
This is why you chose this place.
It was secluded enough where there was no paparazzi, no cameras, no exposure and no one was the wiser. Here, you guys could be as loud and as free as you wanted because there was no one around to threaten that fragile bubble of happiness.
Heaving the bulging bag full of food and other amenities that you had swiped from Yaoyorozu as soon as you guys arrived higher on your shoulder, you wiped the bead of sweat from your forehead as it started to drip down your face.
“Shouto, c’mon!!” You encouraged aimlessly, since you didn’t know where he was. “Don’t you want to join the others?”
A faint rustle came from the bush a yard away from you and then it stilled. “No.”
You fought back a smile at the curt reply. You could almost envision that pout on his lips. Cheeky boy.
“Shouto~” You sang, fishing out a piece of his favorite food and waving it in the air, knowing that he could smell it. “I have a present for you…”
A beat of silence passed, and then two fluffy ears, one white and one red, poked out from the brush.
You suppressed a smile, knowing that would only make him leave in a huff and then his stubbornness wouldn’t let him come out and joy you for another hour. You couldn’t do that, he would miss all the fun!!
Waving it a bit more so that the enticing scent of the delectable food encouraged him out of his hiding place, you opted to hold your ground. “C’mon, Shouto. I promise, no tricks.”
His facial expression didn’t change but his ears perked up a bit and you couldn’t help the small giggle that escaped you. He was adorable.
Todoroki’s face fell the second he heard you laugh. “You’re laughing at me.”
You stopped immediately and straightened up, shaking your head. “I’m not.”
“Yes, you are.” He pushed back, crossing his arms over his chest as he stepped out of the bush with stray leaves clinging to his fur and branches sticking out of his head. Plopping down on the dirt, he puffed out his cheeks.
Your eyes softened and you set down the heavy bag, keeping your form relaxed as you tuned out the splashing and shrieks of laughter coming from the ocean.
“I’m sorry I laughed.” You apologized sincerely, never once breaking eye contact with your boyfriend. “I just thought you were very cute.”
Todoroki snorted, a sound so unlike his normally stoic and guarded demeanor, burrowing his face into his arms resting atop of the knees tucked into his chest. “That’s not funny…”
Your smile saddened a fraction as a memory washed over you as though it just happened yesterday.
Trouble had a habit of finding your beloved boyfriend and last week was no different.
The villain he was fighting against had a particularly interesting quirk, since he could manifest certain traits of people into their animal counterpart based solely on their personalities.
Todoroki wasn’t put off until someone pointed out that he must have rage like a tiger, making him internalize everything and now a good seven days later, he still had yet to come to terms with his appearance and strange habits involving a diet of primarily meat.
Fuyumi had sobbed how grateful she was that you were willing to take care of her brother in your apartment until the effects of the quirk dissipated. He was arguing with his father a lot more than usual and the tension in the Todoroki home had skyrocketed.
You brushed it off, merely telling her it was the least that you could do.
Your boyfriend had a tough time adjusting to his new normal. Things were hard for him to grab and he couldn’t cuddle you like he was used to. He liked walking on all fours since he found he could go a lot faster when he used all his appendages instead of only half.
His quirk, however, had been giving him a particularly rough time and the finesse he had honed of over the years disappeared overnight.
To say that Todoroki was upset about it was an understatement.
He would do nothing else but sit in his room for days when you brought him home with you, refusing to let you in unless you came with a peace offering.
That always smoothed things enough for you to talk to him and you were hoping it wouldn’t fail you now.
Todoroki eyed the fish skeptically, tilting his head curiously when you offered it up to him once more. With the pace of a snail, he uncurled from his protective ball and padded forward slowly, raising his nose in the air to sniff.
“Hungry?” You asked sympathetically.
Todoroki hesitated a second before nodding slowly.
Your shoulders dropped and you knelt down, holding it out to him. “Here.”
His eyes lit up and his tail flicked back and forth, gaze darting to you instinctively as though to ask if it really was okay.
You bit back a smile but the corners of your eyes still crinkled and you inclined your head to give him the go ahead.
Before you could blink, the fish was swiped from your hand and as soon as your eyes focused, you burst out laughing.
There, Todoroki crouched on the ground, chomping on the tasty treat.
Wiping off the palm of your hands on your hiking shorts, you beamed down at him, offering out your hand for him to take. “Feel better now?”
“Maybe…” He mumbled quietly as he polished it off before reluctantly accepting the invitation.
It wasn’t that he didn’t love you or love to shower you with affection, it was just that he was used to doing all of that when he was fully a human, not a hybrid.
It was weird.
He found himself clinging desperately to your old t-shirts when you left the home to go on patrol, waiting around for you to come back. He heard when your heartbeat would speed up whenever he was around and how your breath hitched when he leaned in to kiss you goodnight.
Ever since the start of your relationship, he had been the one to take care of you. And he liked it that way.
This dynamic was foreign to him. And he wasn’t sure if it was because he truly disliked you taking care of him, or if it was because of something else.
Todoroki was broken out of his deep thoughts the instant you came to stand right next to Iida.
Before he knew what he was doing, the edges of his mouth pulled back in a menacing snarl and he pounced.
The unsuspecting Iida landed hard on the white sands with an ‘oomph’.
“Todoroki-kun!! Please control yourself!!” Iida shouted, doing his best not to hurt him as the tiger hybrid clawed at him.
You gasped. “Shouto!! Oh my gosh, Iida, I’m so sorry!!”
Pulling him off of the other, you went rigid as your boyfriend whined in your ear. The sound was too low for anyone else to pick up on, but you heard it.
“What’s wrong?” You whispered as Iida brushed off his swim shorts, thrusting his hand straight up into the air to stop Kaminari from drowning himself in an attempt to prove to Sero and Mina that he could hold his breath longer than they could.
Todoroki wrapped his arms around your waist, mouth pressed in a thin line as he buried his face into the crook of your neck.
You allowed yourself to relax against him as he pawed feebly at your sides, getting as close to him as possible.
With the increase in physical contact, the tension melted away from Todoroki’s broad form and you heaved a sigh of relief.
“Awwwww~” You cooed teasingly, reaching behind you to pinch his cheek gently and tugging until his smile morphed into a scowl. “Who’s the big scary tiger?”
Todoroki swatted you away, scrambling back until he was free from your affectionate hold on him. It wasn’t his fault he couldn’t control his protective instincts and it certainly wasn’t his fault for reacting the way that he did when he smelled Iida’s scent all over you. You were his.
Of course he was going to protect you.
Baring his teeth at the tease, he hissed, tiny fangs on display.
You shouldn’t have found that as cute as you did.
Two more bodies shouldered their way past you and you grinned.
“Took you two long enough.” You smirked, wrangling your boyfriend back when he struggled in the firm grip you had around his arms to prevent him from knocking another person over.
The power couple had a habit of falling behind their ranks while getting lost in their own world. It was disgustingly cute.
Bakugou rolled his eyes angrily and gnashed his teeth. “Now you’re counting, dumbass? You’re worse than the shitty nerd.”
Midoriya ignored that comment as he sidled past you warily, forest green eyes sympathetic once they fell on your significant other. “Todoroki-kun still hasn’t changed back yet?”
He had seen the news coverage on it when the incident happened. Luckily, he wasn’t physically harmed, just physically altered, but it didn’t look like it was going away anytime soon.
Planting your hands on your hips, you yelped as Todoroki ripped himself from your grasp to tear off after Shinsou and tackled him next when he got too close to you. “No, not yet.”
Spraying white sand everywhere with his hind legs, it was almost endearing how his head raised and heterochromic eyes blinked back at you as soon as your voice sounded, silently begging for permission.
You followed his gaze to the ocean spray behind you and shook your head fondly, suppressing a smile as you jerked your head in Yaoyorozu’s direction. She would watch over him and make sure none of the other boys bullied him.
“Go on.” You encouraged softly, and that was all he needed.
While Bakugou set up the tent for him and his boyfriend so that Midoriya wouldn't get sunburnt, not that he would ever admit to doing it for that reason, your best friend eagerly asked for updates on all the latest changes.
Whipping out his hero notebook, his eyes shone with enthusiasm. “What has he been eating?! Does he prefer tuna or white cod? Oh, oh, oh, is there a difference in his quirk?! How does it impact his—”
Midoriya’s endless and excited rambling was cut off by his fuming boyfriend as he smacked him over the head and he cried out in pain, clutching his head. “Wahhhhh, Kacchan!!!”
“Shut the hell up, Deku.” Bakugou snarled, stomping past him to throw a bottle of sunscreen at you. “Put this on, shitty woman.”
You grinned, already squeezing the tube to squirt some onto your hand and slathered it on your arms. “Aw, you do care.”
“Go die.” He hissed, turning on his heel so abruptly that he almost slipped.
You refrained from giggling as he furiously, yet meticulously, took out various food items from the picnic basket that he had brought with. No matter how much he claimed he didn’t care about any of you, actions sure spoke louder than words.
Class A had graduated from UA all together and each and every one of you had secured a spot as a sidekick for many top pro-heroes all around the country. Before a year had even passed, all 22 of you had made a name for yourself, so much so that you were all almost as famous as the pros.
Midoriya was the first one to start his own agency, no surprise there. But what was a surprise was Bakugou following right after to build one right next to his.
The general public suspected it was because that area where their agencies were was riddled with violent crime, but you knew better. You all did, really.
How could anyone miss the lingering gazes filled with adoration and passion?
“Y/N, come on!!” Shinsou hollered, ducking under Shoji’s arm to sprint back towards you. “You’re missing all the fun!!”
“Be right there!!” You shouted back, rearranging the tablecloth on the ground so that it would lay flat.
You still needed to grab the bag you left at the foot of the cliffs because it was getting too heavy for you to carry. But you chanced a glance up and the glimpse of your friends had a wide smile breaking out on your face.
Todoroki was splashing in the shallows, completely soaking his fur. Jirou and Hagakure shrieked as Mina chased the two of them around, sparking an impromptu game of tag. Koda was in the middle of showing Tokoyami his seagull friend when Uraraka bumped into him.
Tsuyu and Kirishima were beachcombing for shells a little bit away when Kaminari skidded to a halt in front of them with Yaoyorozu in tow.
Aoyama, Ojiro, Sato, Iida and Mineta were playing beach volleyball with the inflatable ball that the former class president had brought along with them.
Dragging the beach bag behind you over to your spot that you set up far away from the shore so that when the tide came in, it wouldn’t wash everything away, you took out an array of towels, more sunblock, floaties, snacks, water bottles, coverups and a pair of sunglasses for Aoyama in case he forgot his again.
Standing up tall, you cupped your hands over your mouth and yelled, “Lunchtime!!!”
Several whoops and hollers pierced the salty air and you snorted when Midoriya almost tripped over his boyfriend’s outstretched feet in his haste to get there first.
Amidst the clamor and friends swarming around you, you twisted around, looking for your tiger hybrid boyfriend. “Shouto—”
“I’m here.”
You jumped as the low rumble sounded right by your ear, shivering unconsciously as his warm chest pressed up against your back.
“Hey…” You murmured as he mashed the top of his head in between your shoulder blades before planting a soft kiss there. “Did you have fun?”
He nodded, resting his chin on your shoulder to look over it as everyone rearranged themselves in a large circle.
You and Bakugou took care of the food prep while all your friends engorged themselves on the pre-made sandwiches and finger food.
“Oi, half-n-half bastard.” Bakugou growled, breaking the bubble of peace you two had with his temper that came out the longer your hands stayed motionless. “Stop bothering her, she’s not doing shit.”
Normally Bakugou’s crude language didn’t bother or upset Todoroki in any way, so you were shocked with a snarl echoed, washing over the group and effectively silencing them.
You squeaked as his arms tightened around you almost protectively and landed with an ‘oof’ as he pulled you to the ground.
“Shouto?!” You cried out incredulously as he unabashedly nuzzled his face into the hollow of your throat, setting his thick thighs on either side of you.
You rolled your eyes when Bakugou went rigid with anger. You could feel the heat emitting from your beloved’s glare as he locked stares with the pomeranian who was furious that the dumb extra thought he was flirting with you.
“That’s enough.” You scolded, though it was unclear who you were really talking to.
Neither wavered.
“Icyhot, you dumb fuck.” Bakugou spat, never once breaking eye contact, even as the chatter picked up again.
Todoroki snarled but the expression of rage contorted into meek sheepishness as you ran your fingers lightly through his hair, being mindful of his ears.
Humming softly, you coaxed him back down to earth long enough for common sense to return to him.
Todoroki bundled you up in his arms, tail swishing back and forth lazily as he held you. “Sorry.”
You shook your head at his apology, knowing he couldn’t fully control his impulses sometimes. “Not your fault.”
Bakugou snorted, smacking Kirishima in the face with a fish fillet when he asked to see what he was cooking. “Yes it fucking is.”
He just barely managed to dodge the shoe you launched at his head, straightening up with an enraged scowl etched on his features.
“OI!!!!”
You giggled, wiggling back to get comfortable against Todoroki’s chest. “You deserved it.”
“TAKE THAT SHIT BACK!!!!!” He thundered, smoke coming out of his ears.
“Kacchan!!” Midoriya cried out, wrestling back his boyfriend before his temper tantrum could reach the two of you.
He begged Jirou or Kaminari to help him but the two of them simply flipped the bird to Bakugou, and he exploded.
Literally.
What happened next was a flurry of the class rep containing the situation and a spark of green lightning before it was over as quickly as it started.
“I’m going to fucking kill all of you.” Bakugou seethed angrily, eye twitching from where his loving boyfriend had used One for All to pin him to the ground, tying him to the trunk of a nearby coconut tree until he calmed down.
“Ah…” Midoriya winced sheepishly as his glare turned on him. “K-Kacchan—”
Jirou’s loud slurping of the smoothie that Sato just made interrupted him and she regarded the fuming grown man disinterestedly. “Who’s up for a game?”
“Oh, oh, oh, meeeee!!!” Hagakure shouted, raising her hand high in the air alongside Uraraka and an intrigued Tsuyu.
“MEEEEEE!!!!” Mina screamed, nearly blowing out Kaminari’s eardrums as he collapsed on top of his girlfriend.
Jirou pushed him off without hesitation, fighting back a smirk when he let out an overexaggerated whimper of pain, knowing full well that he wasn’t actually hurt.
Shoji stopped what he was doing to pay attention and even the usually shy Koda looked interested in her proposal on how to deal with the tied up pomeranian thrashing in place.
Jirou raised an eyebrow slyly and everybody held their breath in anticipation.
One.
Two.
Three.
“PIN THE TAIL ON THE BAKUGOU!!!!!” Jirou screamed, holding up a sticky dart that they all regularly used for training.
How she managed to sneak equipment out of the agency she worked at was beyond you.
Jirou whooped, scrambling forward and held it up high. “I’m going first!!”
“Me next, Kyoka-chan!!!” Uraraka pleaded.
“Class A, this is highly inappropriate!!!!” Iida shouted, trying to curb the situation before it got out of hand.
Too late.
As the girls, save for Yaoyorozu, clustered gathered around a livid Bakugou, Tokoyami uncrossed his arms and pushed off of his post from where he had been keeping watch over the perimeter of the beach.
“I will join.”
You and Todoroki were both surprised, not expecting the normally reclusive individual to join in on the shenanigans.
Your dropped jaw caught Tokoyami’s attention and the corner of his mouth twitched in amusement.
“I find great satisfaction in tormenting the souls of the wicked.” He declared impassively and a light bulb went off in your head.
“Ahhhhh,” You drew out with a grimace. “I get it.”
Back when you guys had lived in the dorms, Bakugou had made the fatal mistake of scaring Tokoyami during Halloween, making the latter let out an inhuman scream that traveled all the way across campus. Even though he had sworn to the moon and back that it was accidental, that there was no way he was actively participating in the game that Raccoon-Eyes and Flat Face had going on, Tokoyami never forgot it.
And now it was time for his revenge.
Tokoyami caught the tomato that Sero threw his way and tossed it up in the air with the most menacing glare on his face as everyone advanced to the struggling pro-hero.
“Bakugou, you ready?!” Kirishima shouted excitedly, removing the gag from his best friend’s mouth.
“PISS OFF, SHITTY HAIR!!!!” Bakugou exploded once he was free, yanking at his restraints even though he had no chance of getting out of them.
His boyfriend tied them.
Hagakure tapped Jirou’s shoulder warily. “You think we should’ve left it on?”
The other girl shrugged nonchalantly, unbothered by the rage rolling off of him in waves. “Eh, he would’ve found a way out of it eventually.”
Shinsou twirled a piece of Tsuyu’s hair that he was braiding, boredly looking on at all the chaos as they all pushed and pulled each other. He had asked Aizawa to teach him how back when he lived in the dormitory so that he could do it for Eri whenever she came over to visit.
“Shinsou-chan, are you going to take a turn?” She asked curiously, staying still so that he could braid her long hair properly.
He shrugged even though she couldn’t see him. “I don’t really see the point in it.”
“Kero,” She ribbeted thoughtfully. They were the only two not contributing to the shouting other than you and Todoroki. “I see.”
“Ehhhh?!?!” Kaminari exclaimed, losing his footing as he accidentally tripped over Kirishima’s foot and crashed into Shinsou.
Shooting him a sharp glare as all his hard work undid itself, Shinsou pushed himself off the ground, not sparing him a glance as he marched back over to the frog girl to fix it.
You giggled to yourself at Kaminari’s expression of mock hurt but pursued your lips quickly when his head snapped towards the sound. Pure smile dripping with innocence, your shoulders shook with laughter when he turned all the way around suspiciously, piercing gaze landing on his girlfriend as she doubled over with laughter at something Yaoyorozu said.
Bakugou thrashed helplessly against the coconut tree. “I’M GONNA FUCKIN’ KILL YOU, EARPHONES!!!!!”
But Jirou’s boisterous chortling was all that answered his threat.
You sank back against Todoroki, sighing blissfully despite the war raging on as they started the game, Bakugou protesting violently all the way.
Angling your head up, your eyes squinted against the sun but you still smiled as soft fur brushed your cheek.
“Are you happy, Shouto?” You asked softly, quiet enough to not catch the attention of the others as they yelled for Midoriya to keep his boyfriend still.
He paused, choosing to play with the fringe of your shirt instead of responding right away. “Right now?”
Your smile dimmed a fraction, not expecting that answer. “... I suppose I meant just in general, but you could answer with whatever comes to mind…”
You trailed off, leaving the question itself open ended so that he could opt not to answer it if he didn’t feel comfortable.
Todoroki hesitated. “Where… Where is this coming from?”
Outright frowning now, you pushed off his knee so that you could sit across from him to see him better.
“I was just wondering...” You said slowly, trying to keep the defensiveness out of your voice.
Was he not happy? Why did he hesitate? Would he be happier with someone else? Did he not want to be with you anymore?
You shook your head at the insecure thoughts invading your head. That wasn’t right. He would’ve told you if he didn’t want to put work into this relationship anymore. You two had made that pact when you started dating, to break it off if one person no longer wanted it instead of stringing the other along and ended up hurting you both in the long run.
Taking a deep breath to calm yourself down from spiraling too far, you steadied your heart before opening your mouth again.
“I asked because I wanted to know.” You told him honestly, speaking from the heart. “Your happiness matters a lot to me, I always want you to be happy. That’s why I wanted to ask.”
Placing a hand on his knee, you smiled apologetically at him and the shenanigans from your friends faded into white noise as you tuned out everything else besides him.
Your Shouto. The person you loved the most in this entire world. The one who had been with you through thick and thin and the one who swore he would never abandon you.
He knew what those words meant to you. He had your heart.
And you had his.
Todoroki’s heterochromic eyes softened a fraction and his ears and tail drooped as he realized that he had acted so defensively out of reflex.
“I—”
“You don’t have to apologize.” You reassured him swiftly, clearly. You knew what he was going to say. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Todoroki’s rapid heartbeat steadied at the loving conviction in your voice and a breath he didn’t know he had been holding in whooshed out of his lungs.
Reaching out, he laced his slim fingers with yours and tugged you closer to rest his forehead against yours.
He closed his eyes and sighed.
“I am happy.” He murmured quietly so that only you could hear him, emphasizing the soft declaration with a gentle squeeze of your hand. “I feel… the most when I am with you.”
Despite his words growing softer and softer, you still heard them and your heart leaped in your throat.
Swallowing thickly, you gave him a wobbly smile at his admission and fought to keep the tears at bay as you leaned in to press a quick kiss to his lips, commending him for his bravery and vulnerability when it came to expressing his innermost thoughts. You knew it wasn’t easy for him to do.
“I’m glad.” You sighed, trying not to get too caught up in the moment so that your emotions didn’t run away from you. “And I’m honored you feel that way around me. I will continue to do my best to make you happy.”
This time, Todoroki was the one to frown, his nose twitching in displeasure.
“You do not need to do anything.” He stated matter-of-factly, tilting his head in confusion. “It is your company, I believe, that makes me feel this way.”
That was an understatement. You elevated his heart and spirit in all the best possible ways. With your encouragement and kind nature, he felt like he had the strength to do anything. Including tough out this quirk incident that was causing a huge inconvenience in everybody’s lives.
Todoroki ducked his head and hid a smile, recalling to mind the time you blurted out in passionate fervor that it was not an inconvenience to anyone, let alone you, when he confessed thinking such to you.
You really were too kind to him. He was going to make sure you were protected forever and always.
Nudging your temple softly with his nose, Todoroki purred contentedly as your sweet scent washed over him like the summer breeze.
“Starfruit and coconut?” He questioned curiously.
Ever since his temporary transformation, he had been picking up more and more of what you smelled like, and he loved it. But this certain combination was brand new to him.
The tips of your ears burned red and you gnawed on your bottom lip shyly. “Y-Yeah… it’s a new lotion. I liked the scent.”
Todoroki hummed thoughtfully, another throaty purr emitting from his chest as waves lazily crashed upon the shore. His arms tightened around you in silent request and his ears perked up as you repositioned yourself so that your back was flush against his bare chest.
“It smells good.” He finally admitted, glancing down at you.
You shifted in his hold, stretching out your legs and crossing your ankles. “Yeah?”
Todoroki buried his nose into your soft hair and inhaled deeply, eyes fluttering shut as he thought about how lucky he was to have someone like you in his life. How much tragedy and hurt he had to go through, what he had to sacrifice almost to the point of giving up, when he met you.
You were his light, his partner, his everything.
Vibrant turquoise and cloudy grey hues softened imperceptibly as they gazed down at you, his tail coming around to wind around your thigh, clutching it almost possessively.
“Yeah…” He whispered, allowing his eyes to finally slip shut as the sun got to him, exhaustion washing over him like a tidal wave.
And you, you sat there in his embrace, ready for whatever this life threw at you next. Because in spite of the hardships, you knew that you could face it together.
Playing with his fingers, you relaxed against him and wriggled more comfortably into his side.
“Hey, Shouto,” You murmured under your breath, fully aware that he couldn’t hear you based on the even rise and fall of his chest. “When we get home…”
Hooded eyes darted to the bag you brought with you, honing in on the small cube outline bulging from the pouch on the side. The size of a ring box.
“I have something to ask you.”
Bonus:
Everyone had worn themselves out. Night had fallen, the ambiance only broken by the occasional remark of the ocean spray as they made themselves known.
Stars twinkled high in the sky and the group of 22 felt the most at ease that they had been since they assumed positions in society as top pro-heroes.
Well, all except one.
Bakugou glowered at his boyfriend sitting a couple paces away from him. “Deku, I swear to fucking—”
“Kacchan, shh!!! I’ll never get this opportunity again!!!” Midoriya whisper-shouted at him, furiously scribbling in his hero notebook.
He glanced up once in a while at your sleeping form draped against Todoroki’s white and red fur.
He had turned into an actual tiger halfway through the night when everyone else had fallen asleep and Midoriya had no idea if it was because he felt at ease enough that he let go, or if this was another step in the quirk manifesting itself. Either way, it was incredibly interesting and he was jotting down everything he noticed.
Rolling his eyes when his fanboy of a boyfriend didn’t put down his pen, Bakugou tapped his foot impatiently. “Of course the fucking Number One Hero still is hung up over these shitty extras.”
Midoriya squealed excitedly despite the other’s discontented grumbling, clutching his notebook close to his heart. “Kacchan, it’s so cool though!!!”
Bakugou huffed, turning away but that was so he couldn’t see the pinking of his cheeks.
Alright, look, it wasn’t his damn fault the shitty nerd was so fucking cute when he got like this!!
Tugging at his restraints purposefully, Bakugou burned a hole in the back of Midoriya’s head when he refused to look his way.
“Oi, let me out of this shit.” He demanded hotly, trying to blast his way through, only to find out that the ropes were made of some kind of quirk-cancelling material.
Fuck.
“In a minute.” Midoriya babbled, waving him off as he scrambled closer to his slumbering friend to get a better look. “Todoroki-kun is so cool!!”
Bakugou’s eyebrows scrunched together at that and he frowned. “What the fuck, you shitty nerd?!”
Midoriya yelped as a red aura emitted from him. “Eep!!! K-Kacchan?!?!”
“IS THAT A CHALLENGE, DEKU?!?!?!?!”
“N-No, of course it’s not!!!” Midoriya replied desperately, waving his hands to ward him off and hopefully stop him from waking everybody else up.
That hope was diminished as quickly as it came as Bakugou roared. “WAKE THE FUCK UP, ICYHOT!!!!!”
“I really rather not.” Came the dry reply, catching the both of them off guard.
Bakugou recovered quickly and his expression contorted into fury. “WHAT THE FUCK?!?!”
Midoriya approached him cautiously, hoping to placate him. “K-Kacchan, maybe we should—”
“HAH?!?!” His head whipped around towards him, wrists already chafed from how hard he was yanking against it. “YOU STILL THINK FUCKIN’ HALF-N-HALF IS BETTER THAN ME?!?!”
“I didn’t say that!!!” Midoriya cried out.
Bakugou leaned back against the trunk, vermilion eyes glinting dangerously. Every muscle in his body was coiled and ready to strike. “Get the fuck over here, damn nerd.”
Midoriya’s feet moved before he knew what he was doing until he came to a standstill directly in front of his boyfriend looking at him with an entirely different expression on his face.
One of mild interest and pure determination.
Bakugou smirked. “I’m gonna make you eat your damn words, Deku.”
His eyes lit up at the implication and he ground his fist into the palm of his hand before untying the bonds.
“Bring it on, Kacchan.”
.
.
.
“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU TWO DO?!?!” You shrieked, horrified at the sight that greeted you in the morning.
The two of them were covered head to toe in bruises and scrapes, and absolutely soaked.
Iida was the most upset. “NO QUIRKS WERE ALLOWED ON THIS VACATION!!!!”
Bakugou stuffed his hands in his pockets and scoffed. “Vacation’s over, Emergency Exit.”
“THAT IS NO LONGER AN APPROPRIATE NICKNAME!!!!” Iida corrected and you pinched the bridge of your nose.
“I can’t believe this.” You mumbled to yourself exasperatedly. “You guys actually sparred all night?!?!”
“L/N-san, it was awesome!!!” Midoriya rambled enthusiastically, the glow in his eyes never faltering even as Iida continued to chew out a bored Bakugou. “Kacchan was so cool!!!”
You sputtered. “This was supposed to be a vacation!!!”
“It was!!” Midoriya insisted with a determined pout and you shook your head.
“You don’t understand the concept of a vacation, hospital boy.”
“Hey!!”
Tokoyami nodded, satisfied as Iida punished Bakugou with a week’s worth of chores despite the fact that none of them lived together anymore. “Vengeance is served.”
“Anyone got any food?” Hagakure chirped while Mina whined in the corner about how hungry she was.
Kaminari was already rifling through the beach bag you brought with you, fishing out every single piece of food you had left.
You looked on fondly at them as they handled the food emergency themselves. You were lucky to have friends like these. Ones that could goof off whenever and be as silly as you were, as well as be there when it counted.
Todoroki tapped you on the shoulder with the tip of his tail, offering up a bagel he had managed to snag before everyone else emptied out the reserves. “Hungry?”
You shot him a thankful look, breaking it in half to share with him before munching on your piece happily. “Very.”
The two of you basked in the momentary peace the sunrise brought as Bakugou argued against Iida that he wasn’t even the one to start the brawl, even though it fell on deaf ears.
You bit back a smile as Todoroki’s tail looped around your waist, pulling you into his side and you laughed lightly. “Is this your way of telling me you want to cuddle some more before we have to go back?”
“Maybe.” He mused, gaze filled with adoration and humor as he fixated his eyes on you.
Todoroki blinked slowly, dipping his head down to draw your head close to his. “Y/N?”
You tilted your face up at his inquiry. “Yes?”
The depth of love in your eyes was reflected in his heart.
“Later today, if you get a chance, stop by my agency.” He requested somewhat timidly and you raised an eyebrow in surprise at the odd desire.
“Yeah… okay, sure.” You affirmed with what you hoped to be a reassuring smile to put him at ease, even though you had no idea what this was all about.
Todoroki chuckled softly at your lost expression. You looked cute when you were trying to figure out what he was thinking. No chance though, you could think about this one all you wanted, you were never going to figure out where he was going with this.
“There is something I would like to ask you.” He hinted with a mysterious smile, unlocking his grip around your waist to stroll over to Koda and help him pack up the picnic basket.
It took a second for you to process. And then another passed before you realized what he meant.
“W-Wait a minute— Shouto!!!!”
Ringing laughter was all that accompanied your cries and torrent of questions as you asked over and over again if he was insinuating what you thought he was.
In a moment of bravery, he threw you a wink. “You have to wait to find out, Y/N.”
“No fair!!!”
“Patience.”
“UH UH, YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE A GIRL HANGING LIKE THAT!!!!”
“I don’t see how it’s any different than what you pulled last night.”
“... I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Todoroki shrugged nonchalantly, aiding Iida and Yaoyorozu in packing up the rest of the supplies. “Okay.”
“TODOROKI SHOUTO, GET BACK HERE!!!!”
“Wait six hours, Y/N.”
“SIX HOURS?!?!?!”
Your wailing only made that grin on his face grow. “I could double it.”
You shut your mouth at that ominous threat. Like hell he was going to do that to you.
Todoroki smiled triumphantly but it only lasted for a second when you glared at him.
“You’re a cruel, cruel man, Todoroki.” You proclaimed dramatically, stumbling back when Kaminari took that opportunity to plop a heavy basket in your arms to make you carry it.
Todoroki’s shoulders shook with laughter at your attempt to catch yourself. You were as clumsy as a newborn deer. “I learn from the best.”
Your eyes glittered with mischief and throwing down the basket, you sprinted over to somewhere behind the rocks, disappearing from sight.
But your voice still carried.
“BAKUGOU, I’M GONNA KILL YOU!!!!!!”

Tumblr media
Everywhere you looked there were lights. Twinkling in sync like they were dancing to the soft music playing in the background. There was a warmth shifting through the room, despite the harsh chill outside. You could feel the warm drafts envelope you as they moved between others and the tables they sat at. Mixing in with the flames swaying at each table’s centerpiece. Everything was so beautiful and calm. It was as though nothing could break the trance the night had put on everyone.
Enji Todoroki always had a way about him that tended to ruin things for you though, especially because you were attending the charity ball he had set up. The first time he managed to get under your skin for the day was when you were getting ready. Shoto had offered for you to come over early to his house to get ready for the ball.
He had asked you the first chance he’d gotten to be his date for his father’s ball. It was an easy decision; it was no secret that you both had been feeling something for each other. At first, you both really didn’t understand what it was that you were feeling, but after the villain attack in the forest, the only person on each of your minds was each other. After that, the two of you had begun to study together, you went out to eat with only each other. It seemed like any chance Shoto got he asked to spend it with you, whether if it was in his dorm or the common areas, out somewhere, or just simply training.
He asked you one night as you both lay on his bed, both scrolling mindlessly on your phones if you wanted to meet his siblings. Of course, you said yes immediately wanting to know more about his private life and just more about him in general. You knew his family was a touchy subject for him and you were excited and happy that he trusted you enough to let you in on it. He warned you several times the day of to be wary of his father. That Enji would most likely try to pick you apart, to see exactly why Shoto was so fond of you.
You didn’t expect it to be so awful though. Before he arrived, you helped Fuyumi prep and cook the meal while Shoto stood at one of the counters watching. You could tell Fuyumi was so excited to see that Shoto brought someone home, let alone a girl. Every time she asked you something about Shoto you could feel the tips of your ears burning, even though you loved the butterflies that danced in your stomach.
“I so excited to finally meet you, Y/n!” Fuyumi said excitedly when you finished preparing dinner, “Shoto has been talking about you for as long as I can remember, and I couldn’t help thinking maybe you were made up! You seemed so perfect! How Shoto managed to snag you beats me, Hon.”
You saw Shoto glare at his sister and she just grinned at him, her nose scrunching up. “Oh no, that’s not true!” You said you were starting to get even more flustered. Fuyumi started to speak again but she was interrupted when someone burst into the dining room.
“Hey! Quick pestering little Sho’s girlfriend, Fuyumi.” Your heart jumped at the guy’s words, then he turned to you. “I’m Shoto’s older brother, Natsuo. Nice to meet you, Y/n.” He pulled you into a quick hug, “Don’t mind her, Fuyumi has always wanted a younger sister.” Natsuo said and moved to Shoto, wrapping an arm around his neck and ruffling his hair. “But on a real note, if you need me to beat him up just let me know. I’ll help you out.” Natsuo winked at you and laughed when Shoto shoved his arm off.
You were starting to really enjoy the energy of the siblings. It was refreshing to see. It only lasted a short while longer until a door slammed. Everyone in the room visibly stiffened, and the air grew heavy. A moment later, Enji Todoroki walked through the threshold of the dining room. He clapped his hands together before pulling out his chair to sit down, his eyes never seemed to stray from you from the moment he entered the room. “Well, is everyone ready? I’m starved.” Everyone followed his lead in sitting down. “I would love to get to know you, miss Y/n.”
Next to you, you could see Shoto clenching his teeth. He looked so stressed. You moved your foot nudging him; he turned his attention to you from the plate in front of him. You smiled at him and noticed his expression soften, and a small smile form on his face as well.
Enji wasted no time in bombarding you with questions, ranging from about you and your quirk, to your family and your home life. It was literally exhausting answering each one, searching for the right answer seemed impossible and it was hard to tell if the ones you gave satisfied him. All he ever gave in response was a grunt or a nod, then more questions followed. Once dinner was finally done, Shoto grabbed your hand immediately and started to pull you from your seat.
“Follow me, y/n.” He said softly once he saw your confusion. You started to follow him until Enji stopped you both.
“Stop.” His loud, steady voice said. Shoto stopped his pace and turned to glare at his father.
“What now?” Shoto asked, rolling his eyes.
“I want to say I am not impressed with your choice to bring this girl home, Shoto. She does not meet anywhere near my expectations of what I thought I taught you.” Enji spoke like you weren’t in the room with him.
“Are you kidding me, you have no right to say anything about her.” Shoto snapped back and started to pull you out of the room again. “We’re done with this now.”
“I did not enjoy having you here, miss Y/n,” Enji stated, locking eyes on you as you left the room.
The rest of the night was better than everything Enji had put you through before. Shoto had brought you to his room, he needed to cool off before you left for the dorms. He was visibly angry at his father’s words. You moved next to him, sitting on the edge of the bed, and laced your fingers through his.
“Hey,” You said softly. “Forget what he said.”
“Usually I do, but I don’t think I can. He insulted you, Y/n.” Shoto said and sighed. “Everything he did down there was absolutely uncalled for.”
“You’re right, it was very uncalled for. But I don’t care what he said at all, even if it was shitty.” You said back to him, and he turned to look at you. “All I care about is how you feel, and that your siblings are there for you.”
“What I feel?” Shoto asked it was soft like he was asking himself.
“Yeah. It doesn’t matter what your father says about anything, what you feel is right.” You said, and a small smile started to grow on his face. “Does that make sense, Shoto?”
“Yeah, I think so.” He said and grabbed your hands. “I feel like I want to kiss you right now.”
That made you laugh, even though butterflies erupted inside of you. “Then do it.”
Shoto moved in to press his lips against yours. It was slow and soft at first, then he pulled you closer. It was like all the pent-up stress he was holding from dinner melted away at your touch, your lips moving in sync with his. He was the first one to pull away, he had put you under a spell.
“Thank you for making me feel better, Y/n.” Shoto said, his forehead pressed against yours.
“Always, Shoto.”
You ended up staying in his room for the night instead of going back to the dorms. It was too far away and all you wanted to do was cuddle up in bed with him. Wrapped in his arms and wearing a pair of shorts and a shirt he gave you, it felt like something you’d been yearning for had finally come true.
The time you spent with Shoto after that night seemed different. It felt more special, more whole. You weren’t wondering how he felt anymore, there was no need. He told you all the time. How special you were. How happy he was when he was with you. There was nothing between the two of you until Enji stepped in yet again.
The afternoon of the charity ball you were in Shoto’s room getting ready. He had gone out with Natsuo to get a last-minute suit adjustment for his brother. You had just finished zipping up your dress when a knock sounded at the door. When you opened it, the happy mood you were in faltered.
“Oh,” Enji said, a frown visible on his face. “Where is Shoto?”
“I believe he went out with Natsuo to get something.” You said stepping back away from the door.
“I need to speak with him.” He said, and you almost couldn’t stop from rolling your eyes.
“He has his phone on him I think, did you try calling him?” You asked, trying not to sound too rude. It was like Enji didn’t even think before barging to Shoto’s room.
“Not yet. I will soon.” He said and looked at his watch. “I suppose I could talk to you right now too.”
You waited for a moment for him to talk, but he didn’t say anything. “Okay? Anything in particular you need?”
“I’ll put it simply. I do not like you being with my son. Nothing good will come of it. I do not see a future with you in his life.” Enji said, bluntly.
“Excuse me?” You asked. You always knew Enji did not like you dating his son, but this seemed out of nowhere.
“It’ll be better if you end it sooner than later. I have big plans for him, and I do not want your petty little high school romance to ruin his career.” He pulled something out of his back pocket, it was a checkbook. “Of course, I would reimburse you. Name a price and it’s yours.”
“This has to be a joke, right?” You couldn’t believe what was happening. Nothing like this had ever happened to you, and you never thought Enji would even do this.
“I am not joking, miss Y/n,” Enji said, sighing at your blank stare and silence. “I didn’t want to tell you this, but tonight I will be having a young girl of equal promise meet with Shoto. If all goes well, they will be engaged tonight. I’d rather not have you there to mess it all up. So, name a price and I will have someone drive you home right now.”
“No.” You said, shaking your head.
“What?” Enji questioned, he raised an eyebrow like he couldn’t believe you.
“I won’t. You can’t force us apart.” You said louder, you were starting to get very frustrated.
Before Enji could say anything else, a door slammed shut and you could hear the boys back already. Shoto was home earlier than expected. “So be it, Y/n. He will no longer be yours by the end of the night anyway.”
He left the room after that. All you could do was stand, staring at the door where Shoto’s father stood. Enji Todoroki was a monster. You could feel tears pricking the back of your eyes, trying to crawl out.
“Y/n? Are you ready, love?” Shoto called from the hallway. You turned around quickly, grabbing your bag. “Some of the boys from our class are here already, it’s almost time to get going.” You heard him walk through the door, and you were all but kicking yourself to shake away what happened. “Y/n? Is everything okay?” Shoto asked softly, placing a hand on your elbow.
You turned to him nodded quickly. “Yeah, I, um. I just got a feeling I was forgetting something, but I remembered what it was.”
“Oh, good.” He said, smiling once he took in your outfit. “You look stunning.”
“Thank you, Shoto.” You said smiling, then pull him close to you. Moving your lips to meet his you sighed slightly when he wrapped his arms around your waist, kissing you back.
“What was that for?” Shoto asked once you pulled away. “Not that I’m complaining.”
“Just missed you, and I’m excited about the ball.” You said. Hopefully, you could get your mind off of the conversation you had with Enji before you reached the hall.
A smile sat on your lips as you watched your friends dancing to the soft, slow music. Everyone looked so good tonight. So far you had been having a wonderful time, you had managed to even forget everything that happened with Enji. Dancing with Shoto a few times and sneaking a couple kisses helped a lot.
Though, it had been nearly thirty minutes since you had seen Shoto. You had been so distracted by your friends; you hadn’t realized how long it had been. Leaving the seat at your table you went to look for him. Then you saw Enji. He had a smug look on his face when you held his gaze, and your heart jumped.
“Oh no.” You muttered to yourself. You knew exactly where Shoto was now. Enji had taken him to meet some random girl, to steal him from you. Following Enji’s gesture toward the doors of the balcony, you made your way to them. Once you were on the threshold your heart fell as you saw Shoto. An absolutely gorgeous girl stood not even a foot away from him, her arms were dangerously close to being wrapped around them. This was it, you thought. The last time you’d be able to see Shoto before Enji’s horrible hands tore your relationship apart. How could Shoto resist the ‘perfect’ girl?
You gathered all the courage remaining in you and stepped onto the balcony. “Shoto?”
He turned to you, and you could feel tears in the corner of your eyes once again. “Y/n?”
“What do you want?” The girl sneered at you, her hands now resting around Shoto’s neck, his around her waist.
“Shut up.” You said through gritted teeth. So much for all the time, you spent on your makeup. The tears falling down now surely was ruining it.
“You need to leave!” She yelled at you, standing up straight now. “Don’t interrupt us!”
“No, you need to leave.” You all but growled once you were close to them, “Stop touching my boyfriend.”
“Your Boyfriend? I don’t think so.” The girl let go of his neck and her face almost turned into a snarl.
Shoto turned to the girl, a confused look on his face. “I thought you just fainted, Kanna.”
The girls, Kanna’s face went red, and she whipped toward him. “Oh, I did, Shocchan! I just, your strong arms helped me feel better.”
“I didn’t think it worked like that.” He said bluntly.
“It doesn’t, Shoto.” You said and stepped between them. Kanna squealed slightly and stomped her foot, it looked like she was beginning to throw a tantrum.
“Go away you freak!!” She yelled at you and tried to push you away. Her hands landed on Shoto however, he had moved between you and Kanna at the perfect moment.
His expression turned dark, “Don’t even try it, Kanna.”
“Oh! Shoto, I’m sorry. She is just being so annoying, ruining our special time together.” Kanna pouted.
“She isn’t ruining anything. You are. Don’t ever insult or threaten my girlfriend ever again.” Shoto moved his arm letting her hands fall from him. “Leave my sight before I do something I surely will regret.”
Kanna burst into tears, running towards the doors to the ballroom. You heard her cry out Enji’s name as she did. Shoto turned to you, and the dark expression still on his face. You had never seen him look so threatening and so hot at the same time. When he saw the tears on your face though, it fell in an instant.
“Y/n! Are you okay? What’s the matter?” Shoto questioned, holding your arms and staring into your eyes. He brought his hand up to wipe the stray tears on your cheeks.
“I, um.” You whispered; you could almost feel the concern in his eyes. “I don’t want to tell you.”
“Is it about her? Don’t worry, I promise. She is one of my father’s puppets.” He said, a small frown falling onto his features. “Once in a while, my father will send her my way in hopes of us getting engaged.”
For some reason, you felt yourself breathe a sigh of relief. “I thought…. Shoto I was so scared I was going to lose you!”
“You won't ever lose me.” Shoto said pulling you close into a hug. You didn’t know when you had started shivering but you felt it now. He leaned close, his lips brushing your ear. “Trust me, darling, you’re my only one.”
A sob of relief broke out at his words and you buried your face into his chest. You had never felt that way before, it was devastating. After a few moments of just holding each other, you pulled away to look up at him.
“Your father is the worst man I ever met.” You spoke, gaining a sharp laugh from Shoto.
“You have never spoken truer words.” He smiled at you, and he noticed you were still a bit tense. “Was there anything else bothering you, love.”
“Your father,” You started, breathing in deeply. “He told me to leave you, he tried to pay me to end what we have. He said there was no future for me with you.”
“That bastard.” Shoto growled and started to move from your grasp toward the doors.
“Wait!” You cupped his face pulling him into a kiss. It was deep, rushed. It took your breath away and it stopped Shoto in his tracks. You pulled away for breath. “Shoto, I said no. That I would never leave you. I couldn’t ever.”
“I knew you wouldn’t, y/n. I fell in love with you for a reason.” He said breathlessly. Butterflies soared from your stomach up to your heart, warming your body where they touched. The music inside grew louder, and he grabbed your hand, starting to dance along with the slow music.
You moved along gracefully with the music. Following Shoto’s lead, he was an amazing dancer. When he dipped you, a giggle left your mouth. He pulled you back up and you kissed him again. “I love you too, Shoto.”
“Even if forced you to leave me, Y/n.” Shoto began, stopping the dance. Pulling you close, your bodies flush. “Push me out, I’ll pull you closer. I’ve never had something that meant so much to me.”
You shivered at his words combining with the cold in your bones. Shoto shrugged off his suit jacket, wrapping it around your shoulders. He grinned at you, then bowed slightly, his hand out.
“Can I have this dance, darling?” He asked, staring at you through long eyelashes
“Absolutely, Sho.” You placed your hand in his.
He placed a soft kiss on your hand and began to move you along to the music again. Even though the night almost turned to shit, it couldn’t have ended better. Being wrapped in Shoto’s arms under the beautiful night sky.
He leaned close to your ear again. “You know what we should do, Y/n? Use my father’s credit card and take this to a hotel, the night is still very young. I want to show you just how much I love you.”

-> poor boi is confused.
-> doesn't like when you use your quirk on a daily basis bc he thinks you'll get tired.
-> he didn't told his family about you, mostly because he wants to keep his family drama away from you.
-> but once at dinner he slipped.
-> fuyumi was talking about one of her friends dying her hair blue and he just went:
-> "y/n's quirk is blue too" like with dreamy eyes and everything.
-> don't blame him he misses you.
-> after that, fuyumi made her life mission to meet you.
-> she had to get your number from someone else because shoto would not give it to her.
bonus; how would endeavor react to his son's s/o
-> he doesn't believes you can be as strong as shoto says.
-> and if you are, he's not thrilled with it.
-> how could his son be the number one hero if his partner is stronger than him?? yeah, that's a no for enji.
-> fuyumi invited him to dinner once she finally got in contact with you.
-> shoto tried hard to convince you not to go but fuyumi seemed so excited over the phone, how could you say no.
-> endeavor has to admit you're a really nice person, but his whole purpose for going to that dinner was to know how strong you were.
-> will ask weird questions trying to do it lowkey.
-> after all shoto told you, you weren't that much of a fan of his father.
-> it took from you to give ONE look at shoto and he cut enji's act at once.
-> he says something extremely salty to his father and then continue eating like it was nothing.
-> dinner went its usual course, without endeavor trying to ask you anything else involving your quirk.
-> though he did thought about how strong your children would be.

Pairings: None
Word Count: 1,702 Words
Summary: Training and Todoroki siblings.
Warnings: Abuse Mention, Death Mention, let me know if I should tag anything else.
Notes: Touya’s clothes include links to what they look like.
Hair Dye Buddies: Chapter 5
"Where are we headed? The teacher dorms?" Touya asked.
"They're right over there." Shoto told him, showing him the building inside the gates. "But we're not going there. Mr. Yamada is over in the 1-C dorms right now, talking to Shinsou, another friend of mine through Midoriya, I guess. We're gonna go bother him and ask if you can train."
Shoto led Touya along after him into the 1-C dorms and was instantly greeted with exclamations of a new student from about half the populous. Touya was happy he still had a mask on his wrist because he heard someone coughing. He quickly put it on his face as he hid behind Shoto.
"No, this is my brother. Where's Present Mic? Still in Shinsou's room or down here?" Shoto asked the tall one with the big chin.
"Mr. Yamada is up in that weirdo's room. Is your brother even allowed on campus?"
Shoto brushed past him, taking Touya's wrist in hand and pulling him along to stay closeby so he wouldn't get bothered by the Gen Ed students who had bombarded them at the door. Touya got led up to the fifth floor and the fourth room on the boy's side before Shoto knocked on the door.
"S'up, little listeners?" Present Mic asked as he opened the door to reveal who Touya was assuming was Shinsou sitting on the bed looking rather tired.
"Is this a bad time?" Shoto asked.
"Not at all, me and Shinsou here were just talking about something but we were just finishing up since Shinsou needs to get his sleep in." Mr. Yamada told them. He was loud and energetic and bubbly, Touya was reminded of Fuyumi.
"Mr. Aizawa said we'd need someone to watch over Touya if he were to train his quirk. and Mr. Aizawa feel asleep in the 1-A commons. I'm sure that Sero's put whipped cream in his hand by now. But Touya needs a teacher to watch him and you're the only one who I knew where you were." Shoto told him.
"Alright, I'll be there just gimme a few minutes, little listeners!" Present Mic beamed and closed the door over. The pseudo-twins stood down the hall by the stairs and waited about ten minutes for Shinsou and him to finish up and hopefully Shinsou was falling or already asleep. He'd looked like he'd need it.
Shoto led Touya back through the students downstairs but this time, Mr. Yamada was leading them through. They began the twenty minute trek to Gym Gamma and they began there.
"Alright, kid, show us what you've got." The teacher told him and he unleashed a blizzard in the building they were in, icing the walls and floor with its intensity before he stopped it of his own will, something he'd never have achieved with his old fire. "That's a mighty strong blizzard you got there, kiddo." Yamada told him.
"Thanks." Touya mumbled.
"Do you have any special moves yet? Yamada asked.
"No, but I guess I could work on it?" And thus began trying for hours until he came up with a concentrated stream of snow flurries being like a firework, his snow acting as a smokescreen, and he learned how to create instant-made snowballs.
"You did great, little listener! I'm proud of you!" Yamada exclaimed.
"Thank you." He mumbled as Shoto and him went back to the dorms and Mr. Yamada
"Do you wanna take a shower, Touya?" Shoto asked.
"Sure."
"If you didn't pick up anything for yourself, I have some soaps in there. Most are for dry skin, but that's probably a plus with how much your fire used to give you burns. The whole towel closet is communal so you don't need to worry about grabbing the wrong one." Shoto told him as they got into the dorms.
"Yeah, thanks, Sho." Touya smiled.
"The twins are bonding!" Yaoyorozu looked pleased.
"Hi, Momo." Shoto greeted them.
"Hi, Momo." Touya parroted.
"Did you have fun training, Touya?" She asked.
"Yeah, I came up with a few things I can do besides just making a blizzard. It feels like this quirk was actually made for me." He proudly announced.
"That's great, Touya. I'm happy you're advancing quickly!" Momo bubbled with energy and smiles. Touya smiled back a bit, her energy was unmatchable, though.
"Hey there, Touya." Came Aizawa from the living room.
"Hi, Mr. Aizawa." He muttered.
"Us teachers had a meeting about the permanence of your deaging and Nezu has your adoption papers going through tonight on a UA direct order. All you need to do is sign them since you're technically a legal age and you'll legally be my son come tomorrow morning." Aizawa handed him a paper on a board.
"Okay." Touya read it over briefly before he signed on the line for his name to be.
"Congratulations, you're my son as of dawn tomorrow. Welcome to the family, we have more cats than humans." Aizawa told him, patting his head and Touya thought he'd get hit for a split second and jolted a the touch.
"Sorry." He muttered. "Didn't mean to react like that."
"You can't help engrained habits and I don't get offended by old habits. They die hard, I get it." Aizawa told him. "Alright, get a shower, you trained with Hizashi, I heard."
Flopping on his bed after his shower felt like heaven. Touya wasn't sure that wasn't what this was, actually. No Endeavor, no abuse, he had his brother, friends, a new parent even. He felt like he was home as he fell asleep in the cloud of a bed, cuddling a pillow close.
He heard but didn't react when Midoriya and Bakugou had their inevitable argument or Aizawa screaming at them to both shut up. He was actually kind of happy to have been deaged. Whatever life he had, he didn't care what it was, couldn't have been better than this new second chance at life.
The next morning was a weekend. Naturally, Aizawa invited Fuyumi and Natsuo over to speak on the matter of Touya's deaging. As soon as Natsuo walked into the meeting room and saw Touya, he was bawling and Fuyumi gasped and stood still. Shoto had to lead her in all the way to close the door.
"Touya, you're alive." Fuyumi whispered.
"Hi, guys." He awkwardly greeted them.
"As you can see we have some serious business to discuss. Please, sit." Aizawa told them. Both older siblings sat down in the chairs around the table.
"How is he alive!?" Natsuo asked loudly, causing the other three siblings to jump.
"Touya was found by Kirishima here the night before last." Aizawa gestured to Kirishima sitting next to him. "Touya has been permanently deaged five years for the last month. And his quirk was changed by the man Kirishima found harassing him outside a convenience store." Aizawa told them.
"He was on the streets two weeks and that man, Matsuda Ryuu, housed him for two weeks after." Aizawa told them. "Touya was temporarily enrolled into UA's hero course so I could keep an eye on him, however his enrollment will be come permanent if that's what he wants. I've legally adopted him since he's stated, at this age, your father threw him out onto the streets to begin with."
"Touya is staying in the 1-A dorms and I trust neither of you will have trouble not telling your father of this development until we figure out how to handle the situation of your father possibly trying to take custody back." Aizawa looked at Natsuo and Fuyumi expectantly.
"Of course not!" Fuyumi exclaimed.
"I don't speak to that piece of shit." Natsuo told him.
"I'll likely tell him once I establish full custody and fully move him into both my house and the dorms. Get him set up, establish communication lines to me and my partner, Hizashi." Aizawa told them.
"You'll keep him safe?" Was all Fuyumi asked.
"Of course. I'm his new parent and guardian, of course I'll keep him safe."
"Alright. Then, I don't see a problem." Natsuo told Aizawa and he looked over Shoto and Touya. "You know, I always thought you two looked like twins." Natsuo told them abruptly.
"Alright, if everyone's good with this, you two have full admission to the campus for the day so you can spend time with Touya and Shoto. Touya has yet to set up anything in his room, so hopefully you two can help him with that." Aizawa told them.
And, with that, the four siblings were off to the dorms and ended up in Touya's room, Natsuo laughing when he saw the clothing Touya had.
"You're still our emo brother, Touya, good to know." Natsuo smiled brightly.
"Yeah. Kirishima's friends took me out for that." Kirishima slung his arm around Touya's shoulders.
"Yeah, his style's a lot like Bakugou so a lot of that stuff is things we picked out for him." Kirishima told them. "This shirt is actually one Kaminari, our local pikachu, picked out for him. Speaking of, I should probably stop him from trying to get his toast out with a fork for the fifth time this week." Touya let them look at the black shirt with chains he was wearing as Kirishima saw himself out.
"I'm glad to see you never changed." Fuyumi beamed.
"I never aged, guys, of course I didn't change. I'm an angsty teenager in the prime of my quarter-life crisis." Touya reminded them.
"You know what I mean." Fuyumi smiled brightly as she hugged him close, she was sniffling? Was she crying? Touya tried to look up but his head was buried in her neck in a way he could barely move it. "I missed you so much." She whispered.
"I mean, I missed you guys too, for the month I remember at least." Touya admitted.
"We thought you died, Touya." Natsuo joined Fuyumi. Shoto awkwardly hugged him as well.
"You three will make me cry and then Mina will be mad about my makeup getting messed up again." Touya let his siblings tackle him into a cuddle pile on the bed. He felt safe having people, his siblings no less, holding him so close.

not starker, but why the hell not. i recently finished this endhawks fic, and endhawks is a ship that i feel like hits a lot of the same buttons for me as starker does, so if you’re interested, check out the first two chapters below, and the rest is on ao3 here.
Local Teen schemes to shame father, accidentally gets him a boyfriend instead.
Enji watched carefully now, took in the way that Hawks and Shouto were tucked into a corner of the room. Enji couldn’t see his face clearly, just the edge of his profile, but it was enough to see that the sharp grin that had fallen from his face while he listened to Shouto was replaced now by a soft smile. Whatever he said brought a similar expression to Shouto’s face. Without understanding why, Enji looked away, struck with a sudden pang of emotion, too much all at once, and at first it registered as anger—always anger—but he wasn’t that kind of man anymore, so after a long moment clenching his hands, the tight hot knot of anger loosened, fell into separate threads of—sadness (I’ve never seen Shouto smile like that before, never), jealousy (why Hawks? what did he do to make you smile? why are you sharing this moment?), pride (because I’m glad it’s Hawks, you are both such good heroes, such good men), and, right there at the center of the knot, anger (at himself, always at himself, for not deserving these moments).
It had been a long meeting, at the end of a long week, but, after all they’d been through, there was something comforting about even the mildly overwhelming roar of so many heroes’ discordant chatter. Ostensibly, the purpose of these meetings was to facilitate information sharing, but Enji knew that they were as much about the reassurance of each other’s presence as anything else. They’d lost enough that it was still a relief to hear Fatgum’s loud laughter, Mirko’s booming voice as she retold the story of some villain capture. One voice he kept waiting to hear and didn’t—and Enji found himself turning to scan the room, until his eyes found bright red wings, and he could let out the breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. It wasn’t that he didn’t know that Hawks was fine, but there was something about seeing those wings flutter and shift, the slope of his jaw as his mouth edged into a grin as he said something to make Shouto laugh—
Shouto?
Enji watched carefully now, took in the way that Hawks and Shouto were tucked into a corner of the room. Not out of sight, obviously, but far enough away that their conversation obviously read as private. After the laughter ended, Shouto said something else to Hawks, his face falling back into that tight little frown that he seemed to wear most of the time. Hawks listened for a while—actually listened, which was a shock in and of itself, that he wasn’t interrupting to bug and nag like he constantly did to Enji, which much mean this was something serious—and then was reaching out to rest a hand on Shouto’s shoulder. Enji couldn’t see his face clearly, just the edge of his profile, but it was enough to see that the sharp grin that had fallen from his face while he listened to Shouto was replaced now by a soft smile. Whatever he said brought a similar expression to Shouto’s face. Without understanding why, Enji looked away, struck with a sudden pang of emotion, too much all at once, and at first it registered as anger—always anger—but he wasn’t that kind of man anymore, so after a long moment clenching his hands, the tight hot knot of anger loosened, fell into separate threads of—sadness (I’ve never seen Shoto smile like that before, never), jealousy (why Hawks? what did he do to make you smile? why are you sharing this moment?), pride (because I’m glad it’s Hawks, you are both such good heroes, such good men), and, right there at the center of the knot, anger (at himself, always at himself, for not deserving these moments).
“Endeavor-san?” Enji turned around to see the Midoriya kid looking up at him with those huge green eyes, holding one of those notebooks of his, and turned his attention to answering the kid’s question.
*
“Shouto.”
They were on their way out of the agency, Bakugo and Midoriya arguing over something just a few yards ahead, so Endeavor kept his voice low. The only indication that Shouto had heard him was a slight tension to his shoulders and a muttered ‘what’ so low that Enji almost didn’t hear it.
“What were you talking to Hawks about today? After the hero meeting?”
If anything, Shouto got tenser, his shoulders creeping higher.
“Nothing.”
“Is it something about hero work? Because Hawks is undoubtedly a good hero, but I could help with any questions you have.”
“Drop it, it’s nothing.” Shouto’s voice had edged out of his normal monotone and into a dangerous level of flatness, one that Enji was beginning to learn to heed, so he stayed silent and let Shouto catch up with Midoriya and Bakugo and slot in-between them to play peacemaker.
*
A week later, Hawks climbed through his office window while he was doing paperwork.
“Hawks.” He was trying for stern, but since everything at Jaku, Enji had had a hard time being stern with Hawks.
“Hey big guy! I know, I know—doors, not windows, but, c’mon, you’ve ridden in your elevator. Long wait, crowded, bo-ring. Why ride when you can fly?” Hawks was crossing the room to lean on an edge of his desk, while he let one of his feathers shut the window behind him.
“What are you doing here?”
“I just happened to be in the neighborhood, decided to drop in, check in, you know—the usual.” At that moment, Enji heard the distinct sound of a stomach growling, and turned to glare at Hawks.
“Really?”
“I mean maybe I forgot to eat lunch, but you know how busy heroing is! That’s not why I dropped by—or at least, not the only reason. I like you for more than your wallet, Endeavor-san.” Hawks was laughing, but his feathers were ruffling in a distinctly nervous way and he was running a hand through his hair. Enji sighed, and shoved his paperwork to the side.
“I’m too busy to go out anywhere—behind on paperwork after that minor gang bust earlier this week. We’ll go to the cafeteria.”
Hawks kept up his inane chatter as they walked through the halls down to the agency cafeteria on the second floor of his building, through the line for food, and all the way to the table, where Enji noticed that, as soon as they sat down, Hawks’ left wing slumped slightly, at an awkward angle.
“Hawks,” he said, interrupting the younger hero mid-sentence halfway through some kind of story about one of Mirko’s sidekicks’ birthday. “How did you get here?”
“Well, you see, when a mama bird loves a daddy bird—”
“You flew, didn’t you?” The sudden tightness in Hawks’ jaw and the bob his throat as he swallowed gave him away. “Hawks—you’re not supposed to be straining your wings or the new muscle in your back like that.”
“Number one, I didn’t know you cared!” Hawks was laughing cheekily, but avoided making eye contact.
“If you strain the muscle, you could do permanent damage. It’s a hero’s job to take care of themselves, Hawks.” He listened to Hawks’ half-hearted apologies and promises, making a mental note to keep a closer eye on the man, and noticed Shouto’s eyes on them from across the cafeteria.
*
“Was it about starting your own agency?”
“Was what—my conversation with Hawks? I told you to drop it.”
They were walking towards the UA dorms together—Shouto insisted that the students didn’t need to be walked to the door like children, but, thankfully, Eraserhead agreed with Enji that no matter how much the kids had proved themselves in battle, unnecessary risks remained unnecessary.
“Because while I hope you know that I would be happy for you to take over the agency some day, it’s fine if you want to start your own. Admirable, even. I could tell you about the early days of the agency. When I inherited it from your grandfather, it wasn’t—it was essentially starting anew. I could—”
“It wasn’t about starting my own agency.” Shouto had quickened his pace, and they were at the door to the dorms now.
“Well, then, was it—”
Shouto had shut the door in his face.
*
Enji knew he should drop it. He’d heard enough from his therapist about respecting boundaries, especially the fragile ones his children were trying to draw as they struggled their way towards healthy relationships with their father. But he couldn’t stop thinking about the look on Shouto’s face, that soft little smile—the trust in it, the comfort in it—and the twist of jealousy in his gut when he thought about that smile directed at him. He just wanted to show Shouto that if he would just let Enji in, he could be worth that smile too.
They were washing up after family dinner on a Thursday, the only two left in the estate. Fuyumi and Natsuo had already left to go back to the home they shared with Rei, and Enji would drive Shouto back to the UA dorms soon. Even silently washing dishes, Shouto’s mouth was drawn into a tiny little frown, and Enji couldn’t help but picture that smile.
“Was it about—”
“Seriously? It wasn’t even hero stuff, it was about guy stuff, okay?” Shouto dropped the plate he’d been holding, and Enji winced as he watched it chip against the counter.
“Guy stuff? Shouto, I’m a—”
“Not about being a guy. About being… into guys.”
There was a long, hesitant pause between them. Enji’s mind was flickering between stunned silence and deafening moments of too many thoughts, too much input.
“Because, you know, Hawks and Mirko are the only out heroes in the top ten.”
One thought floated to the top of Enji’s brain, and he couldn’t begin to (refused to) guess at why it was the first thought that came out.
“Hawks is gay?
“I—Are you kidding?” One of the parts of Enji’s brain that was still working noted a lick of flame flickering across Shouto’s cheek. “I come out to you and that’s the first thing you have to say? You’re not surprised I’m gay?”
This—this he knew the answer to, though his mouth was still moving faster than his brain, and his therapist had warned him about speaking without thinking about thinking through the consequences first, but the last thing he’d said was Hawks is gay and the realization was still ringing in his brain when this should be about Shouto.
“Shouto. When you were six you informed me you were going to marry All Might.”
“And you told me to shut up with that disgusting nonsense!”
“Of course I did—you weren’t going to marry All Might!”
“Oh my—so you’re seriously trying to tell me you weren’t homophobic, that this was just about your stupid hatred of All Might?”
“Of course I’m not homophobic, I—” Enji could feel the temperature rising on both sides of the sink, could see more flames licking across Shouto’s face, uncontrolled, and he stopped himself. Took a long, deep breath the way that he’d practiced, let his mind clear into nothingness and then let himself feel each emotion, let each unnecessary thought drift away until he could find the words he wanted to say, the ones he meant to say.
“Shouto. I’m sorry that I ever made you feel like you had to hide this part of yourself from me. Who you love will not stop me from being proud of you. I understand why you didn’t want to tell me or talk to me about this, and I’m glad Hawks is someone you feel comfortable speaking about this with.”
Shouto looked frozen, eyes wide open, as Enji slowly turned to continue doing the dishes. Silence reigned until they were sitting in the car on the way back to UA, when Shouto finally muttered, eyes fixed firmly out the window—
“Thanks, Dad.”
*
The next day at the weekly hero meeting, Enji couldn’t help but notice Hawks more than usual. He’d never bothered learning any personal information about his fellow heroes—irrelevant—and he told himself that it remained irrelevant. It shouldn’t change the way that he saw Hawks at all.
He watched Hawks stretch his wings behind himself, laughing at something Mirko said.
Nothing should change.
He watched Hawks take a seat next to his intern, the one from Shouto’s class, leaning over to mutter something to the stoic teen that made a hint of a smile break out on his face.
Nothing should change.
From across the room, Shouto’s eyes on him caught his attention. Shouto looked away before they made eye contact and turned to Bakugo, saying something that started more of Bakugo’s infernal yelling.
Nothing had changed.
*
It wasn’t even a week later that Hawks was at his office door again.
“I used the elevator this time. Aren’t you proud of me, number one?” He looked pleased with himself, and a little more put together than the last time Enji had seen him. His wings looked good—fuller than before, no drooping. He could never say that out loud, though, because even Enji had the emotional wherewithal to realize that Hawks hated to be pitied, for anyone to act like Hawks should be anything other than his absolute best, so his brain just skipped ahead to—
“Why are you here?”
At that, something in Hawks’ bright grin faltered, and something somewhere in Enji’s gut fell painfully in response.  He’d been trying to be—not nicer, per se, but… better. Not for everyone, but at least for the people who mattered. For his family. For Shouto’s friends. Inexplicably, for Hawks. He’s told himself that he owes Hawks, is all. Hawks’ injuries were his fault (Hawks’ beautiful red wings, another casualty burned up in Endeavor’s flames).
“For lunch. You… invited me?”
Hawks’s tone fell just short of his usual carefree air, and Enji blinked, momentarily stunned by the realization that Hawks actually wasn’t just doing his usual teasing. “I didn’t.”
“I did,” another voice echoed from the hallway outside his office, and Enji’s attention shifted to see Shouto, his friends hovering behind him awkwardly, mismatched eyes meeting Enji’s gaze with a challenging stare. “Is that a problem?”
And—oh. “Of course it’s not a problem,” Enji replied, keeping his eyes on Shouto’s, ignoring the urge to examine the nervous fluttering of Hawks’ wings he could see in his peripheral vision. “I’ll just—uh, see you all later.”
“The reservation is for five,” Shouto said, turning around and heading towards the elevator. “Might as well come too, old man.”
Shouto said nothing further on the subject as the motley group made their way out of the agency and through streets teeming with the midday lunch rush. Shouto said nothing further on any subject, actually, keeping his usual silence. Between Midoriya, frantically quizzing Hawks on his latest villain takedown while scribbling notes in that damn notebook of his, and Hawks, answering good-naturedly and dealing with any civilian interest in the group, the walk passed with as little awkwardness as could be expected. Enji had never thought he’d be grateful for Midoriya’s incessant chatter, but he supposed there was a first time for everything. And, when he was honest with himself, the kid wasn’t that bad; even before Shigaraki, Enji had found himself almost fond of him, if only because he was such a good friend to Shouto. He looked between the babbling boy and Shouto, spying Shouto huffing a short laugh at something Midoriya was saying. Maybe they—should he tell Shouto that he would approve? Of Midoriya? No, Shouto wouldn’t care for his approval, right? Unless… Shouto had, actually, in the end, been nervous about telling Enji about his sexuality, had thought that Enji had disapproved. But would saying he would approve of Midoriya imply that there were choices that Enji would disapprove of? And while that wasn’t necessarily wrong—Enji’s eyes lingered on Bakugo, who was currently yelling at a passerby who’d had the misfortune of being saved from stepping into traffic by the angry teen—for Shouto, Enji would put those feelings aside.
They’d made it the restaurant and were sitting down, and Enji still didn’t know what, if anything, to say to Shouto. Enji never knew what to say to Shouto. He’d spent his whole life working from the scripts of his father, and his grandfather before him, only to realize that they were—that he was a failure, as a hero, and as a father, and to start all over at square one, half his life spent walking down the wrong path. He kept trying to be better, but even still, he knew that more than half the time he said or did the wrong thing—voice too loud, tone too harsh, Shouto’s shoulders flinching imperceptibly or his stare going just that bit more icy. And now there were more landmines for him to desperately try to avoid.
Caught in his own thoughts, he didn’t notice the attention of several sets of eyes on him until he felt one of Hawks’ feathers nudging at his back.
“Sorry, Shouto-kun, didn’t quite catch that,” Hawks said breezily, and Enji glanced over at the grinning hero and wished that he was the kind of person who knew how to express his gratitude in some kind of simple, subtle way. But he didn’t have Hawks’ feathers—all his fire could do was burn.
“I asked if you knew of any gay bars.” Shouto’s stare shifted to Enji, though his tone didn’t change at all. “I decided I’d like to go to one.”
Blessedly, everything was silent for a long moment, while Enji tried to force his brain to think of—if not the right response, any alright response. He instinctively knew that this was a test, of sorts, a public challenge from Shouto, and one he couldn’t afford to mess up—not just in front of Shouto, but in front of Midoriya, bright red and eyes wider than Enji had ever seen them, Bakugo, snorting and rolling his eyes, and in front of Hawks—Hawks who was looking up at him with real surprise in his golden eyes and a light flush across his cheeks, Hawks who had been his biggest fan, Hawks who had looked up to him as a hero since he was a kid, Hawks who was gay.
But time was running out, the moment was stretching too long, and so Enji just sighed and said, “No drinking until you’re 20.”
Bakugo let out a short bark of laughter, though Enji breathed easier when Shouto scowled, as if the laughter was at his expense and not at Enji’s. He cast a half-glance over at Hawks to find that even though the flush on his face had deepened, he was looking back at Enji with a smile, big and bright like he’d done that first time they’d had lunch in Fukuoka. Fuck, Enji needed to thank Hawks. He couldn’t say anything in front of Shouto, it would embarrass him, and it wasn’t like Enji was any good at putting together the right words, anyway, but—
Because Enji was staring right at Hawks, he noticed the sudden tension in the younger man’s body and the shiver that rippled through his wings a half-second before he registered the vibrations of the ground beneath them and the beginning sounds of screams, so he was only a step behind the winged hero on their way out the door, listening to the interns tripping over themselves to follow them.
Now wasn’t the time, but later—he’d thank Hawks later.
*
Later didn’t come the next time Enji saw Hawks, or the time after that, or even the time after that. Enji was used to Hawks dropping by his office once every couple of weeks, if that, seeing him at top hero meetings, maybe an occasional phone call on a tip or lead one of them had. But somehow, Shouto had figured out that Hawks was working on a long-term case and staying nearby, and so the awkward lunches had become a weekly event, and then twice weekly. Not that Enji had an issue with Hawks’ more frequent presence, but all the moments that he used to get with Hawks bled into their lunches, he didn’t dare say anything to Hawks with Shouto around—he still got the sense that Shouto was assessing him somehow—and he didn’t know how to get a moment with Hawks alone. He could say something, but the words never quite came right to his brain, he always felt half-tripped up, and so he just… left, ignoring the feeling of Hawks’ eyes on him.
And then there were the times Enji was glad Hawks wasn’t around.
The agency was oddly quiet, for once, and Enji walked down to the cafeteria to see a group of his sidekicks huddled around a table with their heads bent low, the interns too, mumbling and passing something back and forth. Shouto glanced up when he heard Enji come in, and Enji saw a shadow of something like amusement pass across Shouto’s face, but before he could really identify what it was, his expression was back to its usual placidity.
“Why don’t we get the opinion of the number one hero himself?” Shouto said, just loudly enough for his voice to carry across the room to Enji’s ears. He started heading for the table, curiosity bleeding into his irritation at his staff for whatever distraction they were entertaining, growing stronger as Burnin herself looked up from whatever was on the table, her normally grinning face horrified and as red as Enji’s flames.
“What is this,” Enji said, staring down at whatever Burnin was trying to half-cover with her body.
“We were just looking at Hawks’ latest advertising campaign. What do you think, old man?” Shouto’s voice had that challenging tone again, as he pulled what turned out to be a magazine from Burnin’s desperate grip and handed it to Enji.
It took all of Enji’s hard-won control to keep the flames on his face from flaring out dangerously as he looked at the image in front of him, but he did note that several of his sidekicks winced at the sudden temperature increase he couldn’t help. Because Hawks’ face was staring up at him from the page, looking over his shoulder from between red wings spread proudly, his usual playful expression suddenly intense, body posed in such a way that he looked half a second from taking off, perched on a boulder in nothing but a pair of too-tight swim trunks. After he’d torn his eyes away from picture-Hawks’ piercing stare, his attention caught on the line of Hawks’ back—a long, lithe line, rippling with the muscle Enji knew Hawks had worked painstakingly to build back up so he could fly again, and—absolutely covered in burn scars, skin mottled and warped, jarring differences where the grafts had been, and Enji couldn’t stop himself from bringing his thumb up across the page to trace the skin. The text, advertising—cologne? who knew?—read “fly free”.
Someone coughed, and Enji realized he’d been looking at the picture for too long. He fought the urge to flare up in embarrassment again, and instead cleared his throat. They’d asked for his opinion?
“Being a hero means being a public figure, which means getting asked to do endorsements and advertising like this frequently. How to handle it depends on the type of image you have and want to project as a hero—endorsements that seem genuine and are well-received from heroes like Fat Gum or Mt. Lady would seem awkward or insincere from a hero like Eraserhead or Nighteye.”
Midoriya had reached into his backpack to get his notebook, but Shouto shot an impatient glare at the magazine in Enji’s hand.
“That’s why I don’t do these kind of things often—not because I disapprove of them categorically, but because they don’t fit with my image. The hardest thing to balance with endorsements and advertisements is how to appear in them while still maintaining enough an appearance of strength that people feel they can count on you as a hero in times of crisis. Hawks is the current hero who achieves that balance best.”
Enji noticed, with some small satisfaction, several jaws dropping around the table. He didn’t often praise others, but what he was saying was true—he’d known it from the first time he’d patrolled with Hawks, that the younger man could pull off a public image that simultaneously led people to both genuinely like him as a person and genuinely trust in him as a hero. It wasn’t until after Jaku that he’d realized just how much of a well-orchestrated facade it had all been, but it just made Enji admire the man more—that Hawks knew what it meant to struggle for the success.
“And the best heroes can make these opportunities work for them. Hawks’ injuries after his—after the—” Enji stumbled slightly, thinking of Touya’s face twisted in maniacal glee, “after last year are public knowledge, to a degree. By taking an opportunity like this, he ends the quiet speculation about them while still showing them from a position of strength. And the product tagline might as well be a hero slogan here—not only emphasizing the strength in flying, but the freedom of showing the scars.”
Midoriya was writing so quickly Enji thought he could hear the pencil ripping through paper, and Shouto was looking up at him with a dumbfounded expression on his face. None of them knew he was essentially paraphrasing a conversation he’d had with his PR agent long ago, on whether to attempt reconstructive surgery to reduce the appearance of the scar on his face after the battle with the High End, but the point had been the same both times. He’s glad Hawks got the chance to make this point, to show his strength for the whole of Japan to see, because—Enji glanced back down at the magazine in his hand, the glossy sheen of the paper over the gnarled lines of the scars, and realized his thumb was running over the proud angle of Hawks’ back again.
He tossed the magazine back onto the table, where it landed with a smack that seemed too loud for the suddenly quiet room.
“Now get back to work, all of you.”
*
The next week, Shouto came to Enji’s office of his own volition for the first time since he’d started at the agency. Enji dropped his paperwork immediately.
“Shouto.”
“… Endeavor,” Shouto returned, and Enji tried not to let the missing ‘Dad’ bother him. It was enough that Shouto was here—speaking to him, learning from him, tolerating him. He didn’t deserve to ask for more. So he just nodded, waited while Shouto realized that Enji wasn’t going to say anything about the form of address.
“What you said about Hawks’ ad campaign…” Something twisted in Shouto’s expression, and Enji startled to realize that he looked almost… sad, or guilty, just for a moment. “It’s not something we’ve talked about a lot in school yet. I know some of the other students at their internships and work studies have gone along to things like that, and I wanted to…” Shouto trailed off, just the hint of a blush on his cheeks, embarrassed at having to ask, and Enji understood.
“Of course. I don’t often do those, but I could find another hero for you to shadow to—”
“No,” Shouto interrupted, all traces of his blush gone. “I mean—I’d like to see how you handle it.”
And Enji hadn’t done any kind of advertising campaign in at least ten years, but—Shouto cared about how he would handle it, as a hero. Shouto wanted to learn from him, and not anyone else.
“I’ll talk to my secretary and try to get something set up.”
In lieu of a response, Shouto just nodded and turned to head for the door. After hesitating for a moment longer, watching his son’s back with a mix of hope and pride and guilt, Enji finally reached for the paperwork he’d set down when Shouto first walked in.
“Thanks,” Shouto suddenly said, stopping on the threshold and looking back over his shoulder at Enji. In the moment before the door shut between them, Enji thought he could see a hint of that same guilt he’d seen before, when he’d mentioned what Enji had said about Hawks. But then the door closed, the expression was gone, and Enji was left to chalk it up to underlying guilt about Touya—something Enji was painfully familiar with—and let it go.

songs for todoroki natsuo?
Natsuo Todoroki: The Soundtrack
Tumblr media
falling in love with natsuo would be like:
without you - tyler bryant and the shakedown, so it’s no secret that he deals with a lot of family issues, like waaay too many, poor baby, I like to headcanon that despite thriving in med school he’s still always internally on edge but somehow when he interacts with you he feels in utter peace and bliss and that’s how he knows that you’re going to be special to him. he’d probably try to interact more with you and become your friend first since he doesn’t want to force a relationship just in case you don’t like him that way. all he knows is he wants you in his life and he doesn’t care in what capacity it is as long as you’re also happy. He makes it a point to not force anything with you because after all, he isn’t his father.
let me in - h.e.r. , when the relationship first starts he’ll try to protect you from his family but that’ll result in him feeling distant, I think this will be the rough patch of it all. it’s up to you to let him know you’re there for him no matter what and that the relationship is a partnership, he should be able to lean on you when something is troubling him.
pool party - julia jacklin, he shows love through action, so he’s definitely the boyfriend that wants to take care of you when you’re sick and helps you study when you have exams, but in a fun way since he’s a bit of a goof. he’s the type of guy who’ll tuck a loose strand of your hair behind your ear, and kiss you while you’re sick, he’d kiss your forehead and run his fingers through your hair while you talk about each other’s feelings or while you’re watching conspiracy theory videos together, which I headcanon that he enjoys. he wouldn’t judge you or make you feel like a burden when sad, instead he’d hug you and would try to understand. that’s just the type of guy he is, his form of showing love is very empathetic and physical.
there’s no way - lauv ft. julia michaels, he’s not the type of guy to put pressure on you, he’s a free spirit and your relationship would consist of random adventures together and just tons of giggling and making out. you’re definitely his escape from reality and he appreciates you so very much, he treasures every single moment with you. I could definitely picture you two just slow dancing at random moments because you got so lost in each other’s company that the world just faded.
leadlight - julia jacklin, he loves you so much but he’s scared he’ll be a terrible partner, he doesn’t want to hurt you, not ever, and so he puts emotional dampers on himself no matter how much it hurts him. he just wants to be someone you can trust, but he’s scared that you’ll break each other’s hearts. he knows neither of you really need anyone and so he wants you two to be strong as individuals, and yet still choose to be together, not out of need but because your love for one another is true, he just never wants to feel like he’s holding you back or being too needy and selfish with you, or asking too much of you.
as for him as a whole:
dust bunnies - kurt vile, he’s just tired and angry, he feels like he’s drowning and constantly getting dragged back to a “family” he so desperately wants to get away from. I think he cares for them but over all he just wants to escape and forget everything, he wants to build his own life, away from the sadness that the todoroki household brings.
unfucktheworld - angel olsen, I think losing touya clearly took a toll on him, that was his older brother and best friend, and I don’t think he’ll ever really get over that loss. he most likely feels like he’s alone against the world when in the todoroki household especially since he doesn’t really know shoto, and his mom isn’t really there, and as for fuyumi... she was the only person he thought he could somewhat relate to, his older sister, only for her to turn around and defend his abuser and say he was the reason their family wasn’t improving, I think that treatment and victim shaming really broke his spirit and really showed him that he’s only one line fish trying desperately to swim against the tide that are his father and sister, that his only real ally in the house died the day touya did.
big jet plane - angus ft. julia stone, again I want to point out how this song perfectly encapsulates his sense of escapism. he sees the way his world is, he’s trying to make a difference with his career and all that but still there’s something that’s not giving him any satisfaction in life, and so all he wants is to take your hand and leave, start somewhere new and finally be happy and liberated from the shackles of his childhood, but he also knows that’s not reasonable, but maybe... just maybe having you with him is enough to get him by.
I love you still - molly burch, I like to think as this song as natsuo’s memory of touya. he will always love and remember him, and a large part of him wishes to go back in time, he wishes he was stronger and wishes he could have taken touya’s pain away. he knows he can’t save his big brother anymore, that the past isn’t pliable but he does know one thing, that even if touya is dead that his memory will always live on in his heart and even if he’s gone he’ll always defend his big brother.
pedestrian at best - courtney barnett, he has trouble trusting the hero system due to his up bringing. it angers him to know that even if he was ever to speak out that no one would really believe him. I think this song encapsulates the internalized rage he feels due to the mental and emotional abuse he’s subjected to because of his father and sister as well as knowing he’ll never really have justice for what happened to his family. I think part of him wants to give up on everything but a larger part wants to make his own life, far away from his abusers, he just can’t seem to distance himself far enough no matter how hard he tries because that part of him that holds touya close to his heart also wants to protect shoto from the same fate, and he knows he can’t go away without doing something to help his little brother in some way, even if he’s just there as emotional support.

"The villains tried to take over, or maybe destroy everything. Whole cities crumbled. Thousands of people died."
"Did that include…"
"Any of us?" Pause. "Yes. We were not meant to be in the frontlines, just on rescue. If they had been responsible, we wouldn't be there at all. One student died, and many others were injured."
"Who?"
"... Tokoyami."
"..."
"Yes. I know. We were surprised, too." A heavy sigh. "It was sheer bad luck. A bad quirk matchup when he was already tired and hurt, a slip, and- we had our first loss. We're lucky we didn't lose more. Kacchan was heavily injured, and, of course, so was I, among a few others."
"What happened after?"
"Mayhem. No one trusted the heroes anymore."
"I thought that's what you wanted?"
"Not like that. Not all, and definitely not all at once. Suddenly, everyone panicked. Our second year was mostly uneventful, now that I look back, but it didn't feel like it back then. We were all preparing for war."
"And your third year?"
"The dorms were attacked."
" What?"
"The dorms were attacked. Which should have been expected, since they had a villain with a teleportation quirk and the dorms meant everyone knew where we were at night. Mina had some nerve damage on her hand due to quirk overuse, I lost my hand, and- we lost Aizawa and Denki."
"..."
"Yeah. It was- rough."
"How did it…"
"Aizawa was defending us. Denki was helping and defending him. I suppose they both failed, to an extent." A deep breath. "And succeeded. We lost them, and Shiozaki and Tetsutetsu. But they managed to save the rest of us. So."
"Hey, Sparky, guess you aren't too bad."
"Glad you approve of my death, Blasty."
"Anyway. Present Mic died two weeks later, which- was less of a surprise than it ought to have been, to be honest."
"What do you mean?"
"Sometimes, when people lose someone, they just… fade. And sometimes they can be brought back. But they need to want to."
"Get to the point."
"Present Mic destroyed the building where they made Nomu. He did that by making it collapse while he was inside of it."
"Oh. Shit."
"Yeah."
"Well, that's fucked up."
"You don't say."
"What happened afterward?"
"We grieved. And then- Hitoshi left."
"He died?"
"No- not really. He just- went underground. Hitoshi had contacts the rest of us didn't because of his mentor, and he thought he could help more that way. So he left, and never contacted us again."
"So how do you know he didn't die?"
"That's a very good question. I don't."
"..."
"Don't look at me like that. I can't know. What I do know is that, once or twice or six times a year, after that, there were- clues. Left behind. Operations went a little too smoothly. A fingerless black glove showed up where it shouldn't be. The other side was sabotaged in ways we couldn't connect to anyone else we knew."
"So, he was alive."
"We think so. We thought so. But none of these things showed up in our last year."
"... well."
"Yeah. That was the year we lost the most people, too."
"... did I make a difference?"
"Shinsou. We would have lost the war without you."
"... Oh."
"Yeah."
"Hey, good work, Shinsou!"
"Yeah, you did good! Or, you would have done good?... this is confusing."
A laugh. "Tell me about it."
"Wait, did he graduate before he went underground?"
"Nope. Just disappeared in the night a while before. We literally only knew he wasn't kidnapped because he told two people and like, left a note."
"Well, that's rude."
"Never said it wasn't."
"Yeah, Shinsou, be more polite, man."
"If I have to go underground this time, I promise I'll consider telling more of you."
"... Let's not consider that possibility. Okay? Alright, what more happened that year?... Let me think. Oh. Yeah."
"What?"
"The war officially started." Pause. "Did you know we actually never got to graduate? The other side bombed the Register and the Hero Commission so like, pro heros technically stopped existing by then?"
"... what."
"Wait, so you mean you're not technically a pro hero?"
"First of all, I am definitely a pro hero, thank you. I did all three years of training and I came by this license honestly when I arrived in this timeline."
Clearing of throat. "Uh, didn't you blackmail the Hero Commission for that?"
"... Yeah? Maybe they shouldn't have done things they could be blackmailed for. I consider that a good honest day of work."
"I'm starting to doubt your definition of honesty…"
"Were you the one who blackmailed my father?"
" What the fuck-"
"Yeah."
"Thank you."
"No problem, kid, it was honestly the best day I had ever since I got back."
"Hey what the hell are they talking about-"
"Don't ask. I'm serious. Don't ask."
"Fuyumi says you'd be welcome for dinner, but I don't know if she was joking."
"Ask her. Either way, you're all welcome for dinner."
"Huh. Thanks."
"Literally what is happening-"
"Of course. Just so you know, if anyone has any dickhead parents that need to be blackmailed, just hit me up."
"Um. Thanks?"
"Does it count if I really want to go to this concert but they keep saying I can't go because it's too far?"
"No, but I can give you a ride there if you want."
"Oh fuck yeah."
"By ride he means he'll carry you there." A tired voice. "Deku doesn't know how to drive."
"Well first off I'm gay-"
"You're bisexual."
"- and I dare you to try learning how to drive in the middle of a civil war. Anyway, the cars and public transportation stopped working after the first years, so."
"How did you get anywhere?"
"Mostly? Very slowly."
"Did you guys walk?"
"Well not me. Jokes aside, we just loaded everyone in a truck and I carried them places."
"... how strong are you."
"Really, really strong."
"Wait, what did they do when you were hurt?"
"Oh that's what Momo was for. We had like bicycles, and a few years in she learned how to make oil and my back finally had some rest."
"You can carry buildings, one truck didn't hurt your back-"
"You're young and spry, Izuku, don't pretend to know the intricacies of back pain."
"One day I'm going to strangle you."
"You're welcome to try."

BnHA Chapter 251: Help I Love a Manga Too Much
Previously on BnHA: Horikoshi answered the age-old question of “can the Todorokis ever be together for more than five minutes without lapsing into a daytime soap opera?” with a resounding “HAHAHAHA.” Fuyumi and Shouto sat down with Kacchan and Deku and told them all about their super-dead brother Touya, whose death -- and you’ll be shocked to hear this -- apparently had something to do with Endeavor. What exactly happened, though, we don’t actually know, because they didn’t tell us, because of course they didn’t. Anyway, so then Fuyu bid everyone farewell and they piled into the Endeavormobile and started to drive away. Except they didn’t get very far, because all of a sudden some guy was like “HEY ENDEAVOR I’VE KIDNAPPED YOUR SON, NATSUO” and Endeavor was like “!!!” and the guy was like “AND I’M GONNA KILL HIM, WHEEEE” and then the chapter ended. Anyway so we all agree this family is cursed, yes?
Today on BnHA: Ending, who really doesn’t have much depth to him beyond continuously screaming “SO ARE YOU GONNA KILL ME ENDEAVOR?? HUH?! COME ON AND DO IT! I FUCKING DARE YOU TO DO IT! COME ONNNNNNN”, keeps on doing that. After about three seconds, the Terror Trio gets bored of sitting around not kicking ass, so they explode out of the car to join in the action. Since they all have impeccable senses of narrative timing, they simultaneously choose this moment to figure out all that shit Endeavor was trying to teach them a few chapters ago, with the end result being that (1) Shouto uses Flashfire, (2) DEKU USES BLACKWHIP YESSSSS, and (3) Katsuki rockets himself at fucking lightspeed to save Natsuo in the nick of time. Then Endeavor wraps Natsu (and Katsuki lmao) in a big ol’ panicked dad hug, which fully destroys me, and the chapter ends! So that was pretty quick, actually, but it sure was intense!
lmao -- what?? -- are you --
Tumblr media
ME, TALKING TO A FOREST WITCH: so you’re saying that once I peer into this cauldron, the spell will reveal the thing I love most?
WITCH: yeah basically
ME: [peers, sees this]
WITCH: ...
ME: ... I can explain
[wiping away tears] yep so anyways. that’s my son. that’s my boy. so handsome. and talented
anyways so I guess that answers the question of whether or not the kids are gonna get involved lol. the title presumably refers to the one week of winter break that they had, which was also their time limit to try and beat a villain before Endeavor. GEE I WONDER IF THEY WILL DO IT
so Ending, our friend from last week (who apparently isn’t the “Takami” guy he was monologuing about, so so much for that), says that even under the most extreme circumstances, heroes will never choose to kill someone. and god I am so tempted to say something snarky about real life law enforcement here. but you know what, I’m not even gonna go there because this is supposed to be my happy weekly manga reading time, and lord knows Horikoshi is good enough at fucking that up himself without me adding on to it
anyway, so Ending says that despite that principle, Endeavor chose to kill that Noumu at Fukuoka. so I guess he assumes this means Endeavor just doesn’t give any fucks nowadays and will just kill ANYONE, ANYTIME, WHENEVER! sound, logical deduction there! airtight fucking reasoning
anyway this guy actually sounds seriously depressed though, and yeah this is getting dark real fast you guys
Tumblr media
a few people pointed out to me last week that this guy is manipulating the lines painted on the road, and that’s what his quirk is (and it was also pointed out to me that he shot himself up with something akin to Trigger before he got started, so presumably he’s hopped up on those quirk roids at the moment), and now that I know I can see it actually should have been really obvious lol. anyways so yeah, looks like he’s been busy. I’m sure the three buckos strapped into the back seat of this vehicle know when they’re beat, and will use this opportunity to just take a nap or something
Tumblr media
honestly, I could have predicted this coming even without that thumbnail lmao
also is anyone else dying at Katsuki being all BOOM!! while Deku and Todo are just “BANG” further back by the car. just a slight difference in intensity, here. it’s subtle but you can spot it if you look real close
anyway if I were Ending, this right here would be the point where I said “OH SHIT” real loudly, and screamed and dropped Natsuo and turned and hightailed it out of there with my road stripes whipping out behind me in the wind like tin cans dangling from the back of a newlywed car
LMAO CHAUFFEUR ARMSTRONG IS ALL “YOU FORGOT THESE!” AND YEETING THEIR COSTUMES OUT AFTER THEM, AND FUCKING LOOK AT THIS SERIES OF PANELS OMG
Tumblr media
Endeavor’s face is fucking SENDING ME, man, oh my god. the man has gone FULL SURPRISED PIKACHU, someone help me I can’t breathe dfklsk
AND WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO, CATCH THE BRIEFCASES AND THEN THEY’LL JUST MAGICALLY UNFOLD THEMSELVES OUT OVER THEM LIKE IN IRON MAN 2? actually, scratch that, that’s exactly what should happen. please do this. I promise I won’t even poke fun, I’ll just accept it unconditionally
LOL IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER HOLY SHIT
Tumblr media
“911, what’s your emergency?” YES HELLO PLEASE HELP, I LOVE A MANGA TOO MUCH. “ma’am, that’s not a real emerg –”  NO, LISTEN, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND
Kacchan doesn’t even look back, he just reaches his hand out and knows exactly what Deku is doing without looking, and trusts his aim to be perfect. I’m so fucking weak for this teamwork I fucking sighed in real life you guys, it’s unbelievable
I can’t tell if this is Deku using “Shouto” the hero name, or if it’s now “Shouto” as in his actual name lol. because he’ll keep on using “Kacchan” no matter what, in any and all circumstances, so we can’t even use that to try and gauge lol. but anyway I’m choosing to believe it’s “Shouto” the name because they’ve now graduated to the next level of friendship after that dinner, and after Fuyu clasped his hand in both of her own and was all “I want you to know that I approve of the two of you together with all of my heart” or whatever it was she said, but it was basically that. so anyways yeah after that they’re now on a first name basis. YOU HEAR THAT, SHOUTO?
and then, with these bottom three panels, I know this is supposed to be all “click/bzzz/whrrr/other high tech costume-changing sounds” and it’s supposed to be a near-instantaneous costume change, presumably while still in motion because THEY’RE JUST BADASS BITCHES LIKE THAT, but like. in reality I pictured them all instantly grinding to a halt, and unclicking the locks on the briefcases, and Kacchan just giving his a shake to spill all the contents out haphazardly on the ground, while meanwhile Shouto is much more fastidious and respectful, and kneels on the ground and opens his case with both hands, and Deku is hopping around on one foot trying to drag his gloves on with his teeth while putting on his metal shoe-thingies, and the entire time Ending and Endeavor are just staring at the three of them like, “.....”
so anyway that’s what I choose to believe is actually happening. lastly, you also need to understand that pretty much this entire time, I’ve had the Powerpuff Girls theme playing in my head AT FULL INTENSITY on repeat, including during the part where they stop for five minutes to suit up. so there’s that, too
moving on!
Tumblr media
TODOROKI SHOUTO, AFTER STOPPING TO CLICK OPEN HIS BRIEFCASE, RUMMAGING AROUND FOR HIS SHOULDER GUARD THINGS, LOOPING THEM OVER HIS ARMS, PAUSING TO WIPE THE SWEAT OFF HIS FOREHEAD, AND THEN FINALLY STANDING BACK UP: Natsuo!
lmao so anyway, now Endeavor is fully engaged in the fight once again, and thinking that Ending is “A FOOL” for letting himself get temporarily distracted by the interns’ shenanigans. but like. is he, though? seeing as he’s flat-out admitted to you that he wants to lose this fight? because he wants to die? did you hear that part? like, ??
so now there are some very intense closeups of Endeavor’s eye, and Natsuo’s face, and Endeavor’s feet
Tumblr media
intense
(ETA: actually in hindsight of the hug, I fucking love this, because this is the moment where, right after he psychs himself up and is all, “now’s my chance!”, he sees Natsuo’s face and he sees the fear in his eyes, and all of a sudden he’s frozen in place, terrified of making a wrong move when his son’s life is at stake.)
-- oh snap, look who’s getting beaten to the punch!
Tumblr media
do you guys remember that season 3 anime filler where Deku somehow beats Iida in a race and everyone just accepts it like that could ever actually possibly happen, like...?? if he can’t even keep up with Kacchan and Shouto, I hardly think he could pose a challenge to the guy who’s basically the Usain Bolt of heroes. but it’s not like that still keeps me up at night or anything. anyway!
so Ending here is giving the Todorokis a run for their money in the drama department, which is really saying something
Tumblr media
okay, but what exactly is he supposed to do, then? you’re saying he should focus on killing you to save his son? so what, just like try to fry you and hope he doesn’t also hit Natsu? it seems to me like he has the same chance of success here whether he aims for lethal or nonlethal. so idk but go off I guess dude
oh damn, but in the meantime it looks like Todo is having some sort of badass awakening moment
Tumblr media
YESSSSS SHOUTO UNLEASH THE INFERNO
Tumblr media
(ETA: so Shouto just burned off his entire uniform, yes? boy you’d better keep that fire going now for modesty’s sake until you figure something out sob.)
lol so anyway I just had a flashback to Shouto’s fight against Tetsu back in chapter 205, and I realized that if Ending really wants to fight someone who absolutely doesn’t give a fuck, and will straight up kill a bitch with his quirk if they test him, then HERE’S YOUR GUY LMAO
now Ending’s saying “because you took your time...” and I have no idea where this is going, but I’ll take this as confirmation that they really did take a time-out for five minutes to gear up
oh damn
Tumblr media
friendly reminder that gravity in BnHA tends to follow normal rules, unlike in most shounen manga. but even so, I’m finding myself hard-pressed to be concerned considering Kacchan and Deku are on the job. you’re gonna have to do better than that Ending my dude
wow is he shoving Natsu right into oncoming traffic?!
Tumblr media
where the fuck did all these fucking cars come from out of nowhere like this?? the highway was like empty two minutes ago, geez
anyways now we’re seeing another “condense it!” panel, and is this one Bakugou??
Tumblr media
I mean it looks like his gauntlet there, and I’m pretty sure Shouto was wearing sneakers in the panel earlier, and those obviously aren’t Deku’s shoes, so...!
YEPPPPPPPP
Tumblr media
listen you judgey forest witch, I don’t need to justify myself to you, okay?? just!! I LOVE HIM END OF STORY
(ETA: and hey can we also just stop for a second and talk about how insanely fucking fast that was, though?? and Kacchan was fast to begin with -- remember how quickly he saved Jirou during the joint training arc. anyway so he’s basically moving at teleportation speeds now, and I’m here for it, and also terrified that he’s going to blow his fucking arms off at some point because holy fuck though.
also, once again I would like to express my gratitude for Horikoshi for once again giving Katsuki the big rescue moment, rather than having him go immediately for the bad guy. this is such an important thing to show. he’s really giving his all towards this “saving people” thing and trying his hardest and I’m so proud.)
and now it’s Deku’s turn to get to work!
Tumblr media
that guy gripping his steering wheel for dear life has the most perfect expression I’ve ever seen, like that’s exactly the face I would be making in that situation. this chapter has had so many great facial expressions overall. I feel spoiled
Tumblr media
[LUNGES TOWARD THE SCREEN IN ANTICIPATION!!] MOTHERFUCKER, ARE WE ABOUT TO SEE SOME BLOOP ALL UP IN THESE PAGES!?! PLEASE!!!!?
I FUCKING CAN’T WITH THIS BUILDUP?? THIS IS PAGE ELEVEN OF THE CHAPTER, AND I JUST KNOW WE’RE ABOUT TO END IT WITH A TWO-PAGE SPREAD ON THE NEXT PAGE. THIS HYPE IS TOO MUCH, I’M GONNA LOSE IT
OH SNAP NO IT WAS JUST A SINGLE PAGE!!
Tumblr media
THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF BLACKWHIP YESSSSSS
lmao Ending looks so fucking shocked at being completely taken apart by these three kids with basically no effort. and I see that ice creeping up around him. oh, son. you tried
and then the last page is -- oh
Tumblr media
I mean, Deku and Shouto being complete badasses (ETA: and I so wasn’t kidding when I said that Shouto will straight up murder a bitch omg), but then
Tumblr media
aaaaand there goes my heart. hey would it kill you to give me a heads up before you just go and STUFF IT FULL OF FEELS like that?? like
just. Endeavor just ran up and gathered him up in his arms, and he’s holding him with this desperation that we’ve never seen from him before, and just... wow. it’s completely disarming and I’m almost at a loss for a coherent response. meanwhile poor Katsuki nearly got wrapped up in it as well due to proximity, but it’s not like it’ll hurt him to see this moment up close. I still have another essay I’m working on for you, you little honey badger
(ETA: on closer inspection it seems like poor honey badger actually has been fully included in the hug lmao. and at first I was thinking it was just the proximity as I said above, but you know what? if some punk kid flew in out of nowhere and saved my child’s life, you can bet I’d be wrapping them up in a bear hug too. so maybe it’s just the dad emotions getting the better of him. either way Katsuki you just gotta put up with it!)
anyways don’t mind me, I’m just sitting here thinking about how Endeavor has already lost a child (and yes I know, but like I said last week, I genuinely believe it was a tragic accident. to me that makes infinitely more sense than all of the darker/more sinister explanations. but anyways we’ll see eventually), and his family has been in shambles for so long and he’s been estranged from all of them (for good reason), and I think he finally even is coming to terms with that, and the fact that it may always be this way for him because of what he’s done. but to then almost have a second child taken from him, right before his eyes, and knowing that once again it would have been his fault, was apparently more than he could handle
and then, just the fact that he reacted in this of all ways. by openly showing tenderness and emotion, without even thinking about it, because he was so shaken up by the whole thing. this from Todoroki Enji, the most stoic, impassive, closed-off motherfucker to ever walk the earth! like, even after he clearly established that he was on the redemption path, he still never showed this kind of vulnerability. we’ve had a window or two into his thoughts and reflections, so we know he’s been experiencing remorse, and we could see it also during some of the quieter moments like him thanking Fuyumi or kneeling at the shrine for Touya. but I will tell you that I never for a moment could have imagined a scene like this. and I know it’s probably going to make some people angry because they feel like he hasn’t “earned” it or whatever. but I’ll be fully honest, at this point I’m kind of over feeling like I have to put a disclaimer every week explaining that yes, I like the Endeavor redemption arc lol. just, yeah. I like it. and anyway, so this was feels all over the damn place. fuck
(ETA: and I feel it’s worth adding here that even though Endeavor didn’t do anything to save Natsuo himself directly, it’s his guidance that enabled those three padawans to reach the next level so quickly. so in a way he did save his son: by finally moving past his self-centered mentality and taking these three kids under his wing and helping them grow. this wasn’t a victory he could have pulled off alone. but because he finally learned to see past himself, they were able to win the day and save Natsu.)
anyway, so now that all this has happened, I’m curious as to whether this is the end of this little arc! if so it’s much shorter than I expected. though obviously their internship is going to continue even after they head back to school, so it’s not like the action is just gonna come screeching to a halt. but maybe we’ll take a little break after this to catch up with the rest of 1-A, and maybe follow up with All Might to see who the great-great-grandfather of One for All is, oh snap
AND MAYBE A CERTAIN SOMEONE CAN HIT US UP WITH HIS THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS ON WHAT HE LEARNED DURING THIS WINTER BREAK, AND WHETHER OR NOT HE TOOK AWAY ANYTHING FROM THIS THAT MIGHT STEER HIM A BIT MORE TOWARDS HIS NEW HERO NAME. THAT WOULD BE SPLENDID. JUST PUTTING THAT OUT THERE
and having said that, I don’t really have a clean way of ending this recap this week lol so just. uh. I liked it a lot, thank you, good night

lord knows i’ve failed you time and again (but you and me are alright)
so i absolutely forgot to post this fic i wrote inspired by @vertigospirit‘s lovely art which everyone should be fawning over imho
so anyways enjoy fighting!shoto and stressed-out-because-of-him!momo, they’re my babies i adore them
-
 '"Oh, not again, Todoroki-san."
Yaoyorozu's tone is mildly scolding. He's sitting in the nurse's office despite his protests that his split lip and bleeding nose don't actually bother him.      You should have seen the other guy    , he tells his black-haired classmate as she dabs at his lips with antiseptic. When she presses the cotton swab against his lips instead of scolding him, he holds back a groan and chuckles so he can see her cheeks color with irritation at his carelessness.
The truth is, Shouto doesn't know why he keeps getting into fights. He knows      when     it started (it involves the birth of his scar and a life-changing visit from CPS), and he knows the only person he's hurting is himself (and hey, also the douche who called his mom a psycho), but every time his common sense tells him to take the high road, there's an image of his father commending him for 'upholding the family name' and he just… loses it. Next thing he knows, he's sitting in the school principal's office, waiting for Fuyumi to pick him up.
He also doesn't know how he ended up bagging Yaoyorozu's friendship. He remembers her in the school entrance exams, proud but humble about her first place - an odd amalgamation of what his life could have been like, had his father not been so incredibly shitty. He also remembers her falling apart in their seventh year project for Mr. Aizawa's class, and supporting her through it. Next thing he knew, they went from saying 'good morning' from neighboring seats to spending the evenings studying together.
It's not like he doesn't like it. He's come to enjoy Yaoyorozu's presence in his life just as much if not more than that of his other close friends: Midoriya, Iida and Uraraka. Shoto knows he can trust her.
Especially at times like the one he's in right now, when the school nurse has all but given up on him (      I literally just treated that split lip last week, Todoroki-kun    , she'd said upon his entrance) and he's kind of a chicken about applying disinfectants. She shows up out of nowhere, school jacket forgone in the temperate spring days, hair held up in a no-nonsense ponytail. When she treats him, her hands are tender but precise, and it makes a weird warmth settle under his ribcage.
"Todoroki-san, please stop looking for trouble." she chides, sitting beside him as she's done looking after him. Shouto would never admit it, but when Yaoyorozu looks at him with a mixture of annoyance and exasperated fondness the way she is doing right then, he's thankful that the nurse refuses to treat him anymore.
"It's nothing." he replies, offering her an only slightly bloodied smile. "Don't worry."
Yaoyorozu's brow furrows. They've had this conversation a hundred times - sometimes over tea, sometimes sitting down at the park while petting whatever stray cat has approached them that particular time. She hates his getting into fights, hates seeing him bruised and having to watch as his sister takes him home to get yet another 'talking to' from his father.
(but Shouto loves the adrenaline, loves disappointing his father and, most importantly, loves having her over to bring him their homework when he's dismissed early.)
"You're going to be the death of me." She declares, standing up and offering him her hand.
"Or someone else, probably." he quips, following her to lunch. She gets him cold soba, and Shouto ends up thinking it's her who is going to kill him.
  -
He's really done it this time.
Momo is standing in Todoroki-san's room, watching his sister dab ointment on the swollen skin around his left eye.      Well    , she thinks,      at least whoever he fought this time had the decency to punch him in a discrete place.
Todoroki-san is Momo's favorite person in the whole world. She thinks she started developing feelings for him sometime between their weekly study sessions in eighth grade and the silent but unwavering support he provided when she and her team participated in the school sports festival against Itsuka Kendo-San from class 1B. But even obviating the romantic aspect of her feelings for him, Todoroki-san is just… dependable.
Or he would be, if she didn't have to constantly look out for him to make sure he hasn't gotten into yet another fight. She sort of gets why he does it, though not really. She knows he has a complicated family history and trusts he will tell her about it if he ever needs to or feels comfortable doing it - and for her, that is enough.
But he's been doing so good lately, barely even gotten into a fight in almost a month. She thinks it has something to do with his last fight being against Midoriya, and the conversation that followed. He's even seemed… Happier. Not happy exactly, but more relaxed, softer around the edges.
Momo has always admired his serious personality, but privately thought he seemed lonely. She'd felt happy to see him open up, to see him direct small smiles at her from the other side of the cafeteria. Elated to know, without a single ounce of proof, that the tingling sensation at the nape of her neck was from him having touched her hair in passing as he exited their classroom.
She'd even begun believing he might reciprocate her feelings. She'd finally managed to ask him, heart pounding in her ears, if he'd like to grab a bite sometime, and he'd said yes without a blink of his mismatched eyes. When she'd rushed to clarify that she meant her offer in a more-than-friendly way, and he'd very faintly blushed before reassuring her that the answer was still affirmative, she had been sure this was the start of something new for them.
And then he goes and stands her up in favor of getting into yet another fight. Momo is going to kill him - bust first she's going to get some answers.
 -
Fuyumi is the worst sister in the world.
A great big sister wouldn't have let Yaoyorozu in. Instead, Fuyumi leads her into his bedroom and, as soon as she's done putting ointment on his bruise, leaves them alone, door closed behind her. She is      not     getting a birthday present from him.
Yaoyorozu sits on his desk chair. For a moment, neither of them says anything: her looking straight at him with those big onyx eyes, him looking everywhere but at her. Eventually, Shoto hears her sigh, and then she speaks.
"I waited for you outside of school." she says, and Shoto can just picture her wearing the very same red turtleneck and black skirt and standing by the door, onyx eyes hopeful. He feels like an even bigger douche, letting some idiot get the best of him and in doing so, letting her down.
" I'm sorry I missed our date, Yaoyorozu." Shouto says, pulling at a loose thread on his blue sweater's sleeve. "I was looking forward to it."
"May I ask why, if that was the case, you missed it?"
Shouto thinks that if she knew, Yaoyorozu would forgive him. But he doesn't want Yaoyorozu to hear the way that disgusting jerk talked about her. He lowers his eyes, looking at her fisted hands.
"A guy said some things about me and I… lost control." it is, technically, not a lie, but he doesn't think it's enough of the truth to salvage their budding relationship.
"Todoroki-san…"she laments, digging into her forehead with the heel of her hand. "How many times will I have to ask you to stop getting into trouble?"
She leaves not long after that, and though Shouto is rarely ever cold, the room seems to lose warmth without her.
-
Momo's heart is going to explode.
She's searched and searched around the school, but she can't find Todoroki-san. She knows, realistically, that this can wait until tomorrow. She is also aware that her parents would greatly disapprove of the way she is running around and interrupting conversations and classes just to find one boy - but she might actually shatter into pieces if she doesn't talk to Todoroki-san right now.
Because he didn't not want to show up to the date. He was freshening up after basketball practice when some idiot from class 1B started talking about how Todoroki-san had 'bagged the hottest chick in their year' and 'totally' needed to 'share the deets on her bod when he was done with her'. Todoroki-san, her kind, caring Todoroki-san, hadn't been willing to humor that douche's disgusting comments. He had fought Monoma and beat him to a bloody pulp, but had to face detention and pay for the guy's hospital bills. That's why he'd stood her up.
And after a week of barely talking, Ashido-San had finally had enough, and let her in on the incident (which she'd learned through Kirishima-san). Needless to say, this information gave Momo a different perspective.
So she runs, to no avail because he's nowhere to be found, and neither are her friends, so she starts the way back home. When she's waiting for her ride, she notices a commotion in the school's adjoining park. There's a crowd surrounding something, or rather some people , as she finds out when she approaches. One of the people in question is Todoroki-san, shirtless and with a gash on his arm, green uniform pants stained with dirt. The other one is a short freshman with purple hair, clearly in over his head in regards to the fight. Covering her mouth with one hand in worry, Momo approaches the fight. She doesn't notice the way the crowd parts for her, but she does feel a spark of anger ignite in the pit of her stomach.
Soon she is at the edge of the circle, close enough that when Todoroki-san throws a punch and hits the shorter guy square in the jaw, she can't help but yell his name in horror.
"Yaoyorozu?" Todoroki-san asks, looking around for her. She's so mad at him for getting into yet another fight and also being so hot while not wearing a shirt, so she channels that anger into grabbing him by the hand and running towards the thicker part of the little wood in the park.
Once they're alone, she lets the anger blaze.
"Do you have a death wish? Are you out of your mind? Is this how you're going to be all of high school?" she scolds, holding one shoulder in her arm and poking his chest with every question. "I am      tired    of watching you hurt yourself, Todoroki-san."
 "Yaoyorozu…"
"I'm not done! I know you fought Monoma-san and stood me up because he was being disgusting about me. I would have appreciated it being you who told me that instead of Ashido-san" she tells him, narrowing her eyes at him. In response to that, Todoroki-san's cheeks turn faint pink, and he looks away in apparent embarrassment.
 "I'm sorry, Yaoyorozu." he apologizes.
"But Todoroki-san… Does this mean you didn't just get into a fight to let me down gently?" she asks, looking at him, her onyx eyes full of hope.
"Of course not." he replies firmly. "Yaoyorozu, I would have never consented to a date with you if I weren't sincerely, positively interested in you."
And then she's kissing him. It's the single most impulsive, inappropriate thing she has ever done. Her etiquette tutors would have her head. But it's also the greatest thing she's ever done. Especially when Todoroki-san gets over the shock and holds her cheek with one warm hand as he returns the kiss. Meanwhile the other, oddly cooler hand undoes her ponytail so he can tangle his fingers in her hair.
There's so much still wrong with them, but in that moment, everything is perfect.
"Todoroki-san?" she calls after they part.
 "Yes, Yaoyorozu?"
 "Are you okay?"
"Don't worry." he reassures her, taking her hand in his as they walk back to procure his shirt. "I'm doing just fine."
 And he really is.

Could I get a more ill mouthed and socially unaware shoto than fanon uwu shoto who starts to notice he has feelings for a girl with the quirk: witch(she can do magic but needs incantations ,spells, rituals and lots of time needs to be in 3s,6s, or 12s) she has a very calming personality and soft and shy voice which is contrasted by her bushy wild hair, noticeable glass eye and very macabre and weird fashion. But he is warned by many & his dad that people with the quirk witch can't be trusted
oh god this got so long !!!! !!! 1!! but i’m finally done with it lol, this was super fun to write! i really hope you like it ♥
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“But what if what you’re feeling isactually a spell she casted on you?”
That’s what Shouto had grown used tohearing every day from most people around him, and the answer he always gavewas just a simple, “fuck off and mind your own business.” It was tiring alreadyand he truly, from the bottom of his heart, could not understand where thecomments were coming from.
It was not a common thing for him to wantto protect someone else as much as he wanted to protect you, a simple girl froma middle-class family who looked as innocent as they came yet your Quirk reallyaffected how the rest of the world saw you – for some you were nothing morethan just a girl without sense of fashion, for the majority of people you werea stereotype. Of course, someone with a witch Quirk just had to look like that, with bushy hair, big glasses that covered alot of your cheeks and a strange love for combining random colours and patternsdepending on your mood for the day. Surely, they said, you were plotting behindeveryone’s backs to take over the school somehow.
You’d be lying if you said you weren’talready used to it, but you truly didn’t expect it to follow you all the way toYuuei, where rumours started to run from the very first day you were there;people looked at you funny, pointed at you and even told you that you had madeit through the entrance exams by bewitching the teachers into thinking you weregood enough. Most of your days were filled with snarky remarks about you andyour life, and while you didn’t pay much attention to it, it did get on yournerves to the point where you actually wanted to cast spells on everybody justfor them to see what it was truly like.
But just as you were about to do it after avery bad day, Todoroki witnessed some guys trying to follow you to putsomething that looked like a frog in your bag as you walked out the schoolgates and he felt compelled to get involved. Walking faster until he was rightbehind the two boys, his right side came into action and he froze them to thefloor, making them scream in surprise and you turned around with a scared look.He could’ve sworn you thought he’d do the same to you but instead he movedforward and looked at his ‘victims’ with disdain. “Next time I catch youfuckers trying to mess with her, pray for the teachers to find us before I canhurt you.” And after he melted the ice carefully the boys ran away, lookingbehind their backs and shouting that they were going to speak to the principalabout it.
“You didn’t have to do that,” your smallvoice caught his attention and he looked at you, a loose strand of hair fallingonto your face right on the middle. He noticed your cheeks were flushed and hefelt his own redden as well, but he wasn’t sure why. Your big eyes found hisand, with a wide smile, you thanked him quickly before turning around to leave, but he gently grabbed your arm. Shouto noticed you froze in place and he let gobefore you thought he wanted to hurt you too, something that made him feelguiltier than he should have.
“You…” he said, but the words got stuck in histhroat as you looked at him again, and he was briefly mesmerized by the way youlooked at him curiously. Ignoring those new (and frankly irrational) feelingshe added, “You should be careful about these types of pranks. You never knowwhat will happen, so you need to keep your eyes open at all times.” To behonest he had only noticed you that same day, but he wondered why he had neverseen you before given your not-so-subtle hairstyle and fashion.
From them on Shouto made sure to take careof whatever students tried to pull pranks on you by freezing them to theirrespective lockers, something that gained him your admiration and more than oneprivate talk with Aizawa before being sent directly with principal Nezu. “Thatis most certainly not the way to handle things, young boy,” the white rat hadsaid, a small frown on his face.
“You sure as hell ain’t doing anythingabout it either,” Shouto responded that time with a neutral expression, whichgained him detention for a day, news that spread like wildfire around theschool halls.
You were one of the first to approach himafter the incident in the same shy fashion with which you had thanked him thefirst time he helped you. Grasping at his jacket from behind while he went tohis first class, he turned around thinking it would be someone looking for revengebut instead he saw you, cheeks flushed red as your hand gripped his clothes gently.People were staring and pointing fingers, but he couldn’t have cared less. “You…didn’t have to get in trouble to help me, you know,” you said slowly, your gazefixed on the floor but Todoroki wanting it to be focused only on him for somereason. “I’m used to it, really.”
And he snapped for a second, reaching outto grab your hand and making you look at him while turning an even deeper shadeof red. “Just because you’re used to it doesn’t mean it’s okay,” he retortedwith an angry tone. His own face turned red when he noticed he had gotten waycloser to you than he had expected, and pulling back he cleared his throat andlooked to the side, trying to hide his very obvious blush. “I’ll keep an eye onyou still – if you don’t take care of yourself I’ll do it.”
“But why me?”
That question Todoroki didn’t really havean answer for yet. Sure, you made him blush and even almost stutter, your hairwas all over the place but looked soft, your eyes were bright and full of lifebehind those giant glasses, your voice was gentle… but he couldn’t fully comprehendwhy, of all people, it had to be you that awoke those feelings inside. Not givingyou the answer you looked for, he turned around and quickly made his way insidethe main building, not even noticing when Izuku and Tenya joined him.
They were the first ones to know about hissituation that day, and while they were a bit sceptical about the way you firstmet they still thought it was cute that he felt all protective towards you whenhe barely knew you, and greatly encouraged him to get to know you better if hedesired to do so. After them came Ochaco and he was grateful to have a girl’s opinionon the matter – however, he didn’t expect her first reaction to be a squeal anda ‘congratulations’, since he didn’t feel it was exactly something to becelebrated.
Days passed and he found the hardest partwas talking to his family about it; the first one to find out was Rei duringone of his many visits to the hospital, and she was happy and fully supportiveof her son finally finding feelings for someone else. “I hope I can get to meether someday,” she said, to which he told her it was still too soon to talk likethat since he was still figuring things out for himself. Next came both Fuyumiand Natsuo, who had similar reactions to that of their mother, but Natsuo jokeda bit more about it.
Then came his father. The hardest one totalk to and the one Shouto didn’t really want to talk about this with, Enjifound out about his son’s feelings through making small talk with Fuyumi, something Shouto didn’t like at all. “You know you cannot date someone who’sbelow us,” the number one pro-hero said while having dinner with two of histhree children – Natsuo wasn’t around to witness the scene. “I don’t know howyou can’t see this. This could all be a trick to get inside the family andsteal everything from us; you cannot trust a witch.”
“The one I can’t trust is you actually,”Shouto replied as coldly as his noodles.
He took everything he had been told andmade his own choice of getting to know you before anything else, and he foundyour company to be oddly comforting. You always made sure he had lunch, gavehim little luck charms (you claimed you hadn’t put your magic in them butShouto always smiled knowingly), and every now and then you’d present him withlittle potions that boosted his energy so he could give his all in class. Aftera few weeks Shouto had grown used to your presence in his life and even noticedthe bullying and pranks had almost completely vanished, yet all but one thing peopletold him still made him mad – “it’s alljust a spell she’s put on you, there’s no way you’d actually like her,”people said.
But they would never know how wrong theywere for not looking beyond your Quirk. They would never know the sweet, caringgirl that you were, they would never know just how nice your hugs felt, theywould never know anything about you…
And maybe it was okay, because it was himthat had been lucky enough to see it first.

The end of Icarus
Link ao3
Warning: Deathfic, violence
I wrote this for @crazyclarabr, it is sad and I’m sorry about it (maybe)
Pairing: Hotwings (DabiHawks), a little bit of Todeku.
“ Touya always dreamed of flying, but in the end his destiny was to fall. “
The smell of smoke and burned flesh invaded his nostrils. It was as impregnated with himself as he had always been since he could remember, and yet that scent had never been so strong. His eyes burned, the heat and smell making them water.
'I'm sorry, Touya.'
Maybe it was not the heat.
The screams continued, incessant, but distant as he moved away from the battle scene, leaving chaos and destruction behind.
'I cannot let you do this.'
Leaving behind much more than that.
He entered one of the alleys, finally falling between the dumpsters. The ground was damp from the earlier rain, the ashes fell from the heavens now, like snow.
'See, Touya,' his mother's voice came to his mind, sweetly. He remembered the feel of her cold embrace around him, the quiet smile as she created ice between her hands 'It's snow.'
He barely heard the sound of footsteps and voices in the midst of the cacophony of his own memories. When the cold hand touched his face, he thought it was just a hallucination.
—Touya?
He opened his eyes and laughed when he saw who it was. The laughter ended in a groan as he tried to move.
—It's gonna be okay.
What a big liar. But it must have been a family thing, wasn't it? It was in Todoroki's blood to lie. Why would the younger boy escape it?
— Shoto – Another voice spoke softly. –  ... right? .... You need to get him out of here.
He wanted to say it was no use doing that.
And again, he wanted to laugh at it.  The hands on his shoulder tried to calm him down when the laughter generated a violent cough. He could taste the blood in his mouth.
'Before embarking on vengeance, dig two graves.'
It seemed that Hawks had not lied about everything, after all
..................................................
As a child, in his dreams, Touya could fly. He ripped the skies over white wings that reflected the sunlight. The wind on his face, the taste of freedom as he watched his house disappear into the distance as he moved away into the clouds.
For a long time, he thought that these dreams were a clue to what would become his individuality, his 'quirk'. As absurd as it was, as there was no precedent in his family of this kind of quirk, he spent hours in front of the mirror trying to see his back, to see some sign of wings appearing.
He remembered asking Fuyumi to check if she could see it, but there was never anything. When they were four years old she manifested her quirk, but Touya still kept trying to fly. He persisted until one day he jumped off the roof and brook his arm. He remembered the momentary wind in his face in those seconds, the smile before gravity pulled him down and the pain at the impact. And the heat, the terrible heat.
His mother had rushed outside with his screams and stood in the doorway, her eyes wide. And only then had he noticed the flames surrounding him consuming everything around.
His quirk was not flying, clearly, Touya was wrong about it, as he had been wrong about many things he believed in when he was a kid: that one day his father would love him, that his mother would stop looking at him in fear, that he would be the only one of his brothers to be hurt by who one day thought to be his great hero. Heroes. Touya had believed in heroes too, one day. Perhaps this belief was destroyed more violently than that he could fly.
Yet he continued to fly in his dreams. His wings stretched out in the sky, over the years becoming darker and darker, until they were a black spot in the clouds. Sometimes he flew too close to the sun and fell to the earth in blue flames as his father stared at him indifferently.
One day his dreams were replaced by a burning world. Burned bodies and destruction, Endeavor being consumed, shouting for a mercy that he had never given to anyone.
When he left the house in the dead of night, never looking back, living on the streets, fighting for his life and becoming what he never thought he would be, it became the only dream that mattered.
For years he didn't think about flying.
Until he found Hawks.
What had started out as pure mistrust and both waiting for the timely opportunity to use each other, changed without they realize it.
His eyes always looked at Hawks' wings since their first encounter. The little hero with wings, representing what he most hated - and wanted most -, walking the tightrope between two opposing sides, without anyone being sure of which he belonged.
Touya only wanted to see him fall, to fall from the skies with his wings on fire.
He had never wanted to see anyone fall so hard in his life.
'Do you wanna fly, Dabi?'
He had asked it one day when Touya had not managed to disguise the way he stared at his wings. He remembered that night, silent even in the most dangerous alleys they were in. He remembered the wind shaking his hair, the curious smile on the little hero's face that he despised so much at that moment.
'Do you wanna fly, Dabi?'
He had not answered.
It was not the last time Hawks offered it.
……………………………………………
Maybe because he wanted to see him fall so badly, he told him the truth. That truth he had never told anyone but that had shaped his whole life.
He wanted to destroy his perception of heroes.
(He wanted him to hate Endeavor too).
The look in his eyes when he revealed to him the great secret about the children's tale that they heard, of heroes being the good guys and villains the bad ones.
(He had believed it one day too, and it had hurt so much.)
He wanted to be there at the time of Hawks' fall. The moment his wings caught fire.
Poor pretty little birdy who flew too close to the sun.
And he saw in his eyes the moment when all his vison - all of his truth - was destroyed. He saw the moment he fell off the rope and Touya was there to hold him. His eyes on revolt, and horror for that sour and corrupt society that needed to burn.
He watched as Hawks surrendered to the fire.
And fell.
.......................................................................
'Do you wanna fly, Touya?
— Don't call me that.
He smiled, his wings stretching over the building, his eyes - now sadder, always sadder - staring at him from the side. Patiently.
— Do you wanna fly, Dabi?
……………………………………………………
The league worked patiently. The seed was carefully planted.
'Why can't I defend myself using my quirk? Why do I have to wait for heroes for this? '
'How long will we be controlled?'
'It's my quirk, I can use it anytime!'
'Do heroes really have our best interest?'
They just needed watering. Society was corrupt, after all. Their job was just to reveal that and make them burn.
'One more attack on heroes' pride’, that's what Shigakari had said.
U.A should have learned from past mistakes, but it seems the informant had not yet been caught. Throwing bullets to extinguish the quirks - unfortunately temporarily - had been easy at the time of the surprise attack, until they began to react many had been hit.
Touya looked at the destruction, while Shigakari shouted over the students escaping. His eyes caught the movement and he looked at another pair. He was there, among the rubble. The green-haired boy who irritated Shigakari was there too, helping him up. They were both wounded, exhausted, with an expression he knew well, of a wounded and frightened animal who didn't want to show that it was vulnerable.
They had no chance whatsoever, and it would be the perfect attack against not only Endeavor but All Might who clearly favored the other boy.
Touya looked away and continued walking through the rubble.
(He tried not to think how Shoto Todoroki's confused look reminded him of Natsuo).
.....................................................................
They had prepared for the main attack. The final battle, entitled to finally the hero number one be unmasked and destroyed in the national television. He could finally kill, incinerate Endeavor.
He could finally see the world on fire.
— Do you wanna fly, Dabi?
He accepted that one time. At least to make him shut up.
Not because he wanted to, in any way.
Hawks was strong for someone so small. His arms gripped his chest as he threatened to let him go.
(He had never trusted anyone like this since he was a little kid.)
The noise of his wings flapping, the wind on his face.
The position was not ideal, but he would not let it hold him like a girl.
He focused in the city below, in the lights at night, feeling the laughter of Hawks vibrating in his back. His hands tightened on his arms as he stared at everything, glazed, as the two cut through the sky. Flying.
For the first time in years, Touya actually smiled.
..................................................................
The cameras were focused on them. The helicopters in the skies, the battle televised nationally. All the central destroyed, heroes and villains were fighting in the streets. The population was part of the commotion, the euphoric crowd of chaos.
Dabi - Touya - smiled maniacally. He was finally there, kneeling in front of him as he had always dreamed. The hero number 1, with all his secrets revealed nationally. His eyes were wide, the fight fading from his body totally.
—T.Touya? Is that really you?
He frowned, dissatisfied. He should not look at him like that. That way. As if it mattered.
It was too late for that.
—It's no fun to kick those who are already dead. It's time to burn one last time, Endeavor.
(Goodbye, dad).
He prepared for hell, for the flames that would consume everything on that great stage, the fall of the final pillar of society.
— Touya, that's enough.
The low voice made him turn around. Hawks was there when he said he was not going to be part of that stage of the plan. As much as he was on their side, he would never kill for free.
(He did not really fall, did he?)
— You already got what you wanted.
He continued, his hand hesitant on his shoulder.
— He's done.
His eyes twitched with anger, for the betrayal.
— I'm sorry, Touya. I cannot let you do this.
— After all I had said to you...
— I know.
His voice still lingered in that tone he hated.
— I know.
He knew.
And Touya knew it, too.
Maybe he'd always known who he'd choose in the end. He could hate Endeavor too, but he was still the pillar. He would still make it all fall with him. And Hawks, hero Hawks, could never let everything fall.
Touya always knew deep down that he would not choose him.
'Do you wanna fly, Dabi?'
And yet it hurt more than he imagined.
With a strangled cry he turned, bursting into flames. Warm enough to cremate the one he hated most, even at the high price he would pay himself. His eyes widened in surprise, in those mere seconds.
Hawks had always been the fastest of the two.
'Do you wanna fly, Dabi?'
His feathers pulled Endeavor out of the way at a speed he could not predict.
He could not stop.
'Do you wanna fly, Touya?'
And so Hawks burst into flames. The wings floated for seconds in the middle of the blue hell, becoming nothing even before he could get back in control.
Hawks burned.
And Touya fell.
.............................................................
He did not even see where the attack came from, how he escaped capture in the middle of the scene. His instinct for survival had always been impressive.
But not enough.
— Touya ...
He didn't know how they got there. By the name he had already heard the great revelation - and Natsou, and Fuyumi and mom - but he did not know how he got there.
He shouldn't be there.
His eyes were frightened. And in those seconds, he remembered the child alone watching them play.
The cries and the weeping, and in how he had watched him sleep a few times, leaving the jealousy behind for all the time he consumed from their mother, to only see his little brother. The brother he couldn't save.
— Let's get you out of here.
The hero who was now trying to help him.
 Don't.
Even the two of them knowing there was no way. If the blow he had received had not killed him, the consequences of the final attack he made, which he had saved only to Endeavor - in vain - would do the job. No quirks would save him.
And he didn't want to be saved, anyway
— Just...
His vision was blurred as he raised a hand to Shoto's face, his eyes wide. He covered that scar, the side he hated, leaving only his mother in him.
— Look at me.
The sky behind was ashes, like snow.
'See, Touya. It's snow'
His mother's eye stared at him.
The sound disappeared, everything disappeared. His body was light, but his hand did not fall, held in the cold one.
Shoto - his mother - wept for him at the end.
'Do you wanna fly, Touya?'
Touya closed his eyes one last time.
And finally flew.
