stranger things daemon au (part 2: the teens)

jonathan and alexis

alexis (lexie for short) settled very early on, only a few days before his tenth birthday, as he was forced to grow up so quickly. lonnie was so proud that his son had 'become a man' that he took him out hunting on the day that he settled, and jonathan hasn't really been the same since. althea often rides on lexie's back, usually as some kind of bird but sometimes as ferrets and even foxes sometimes. it becomes a bit of an inconvenience in the car, especially as lexie takes up so much space, but they just about manage to make it work. when there's not enough room in the car, lexie gallops alongside the car, keeping up speed pretty easily. she was a great help against the demogorgon in s1, being so big, and helps in the next few seasons, too. she is very protective of jonathan, especially when it comes to monsters (in s3, it's very obvious), but she's also very protective of their loved ones, and saved nancy in season 1 by going on her rear legs and hitting the demogorgon with one of her hooves. in season 4, she spends a lot of the season laying down and not talking, not even to joyce and her daemon, liam, though she always fights when the time calls.

nancy and justinian

before he settled, settling was all they talked about, with nancy often wanting some pretty bird or a deer, like their mom's red deer daemon, and justinin leaning towards cat, dog and even some big cat daemons. they have a weird relationship, with nancy trying to ignore him and justinian just wanting some care from her. when they find out barb died, they grow closer than ever through that pain. justinian definitely leans more towards birds and, when the demogorgon comes, he swoops down as a blur of white and scratches its shoulder, staining his talons black. they do research later on, and find out he's a gyrfalcon. that's the only thing that sparks her interest. other than that, she's a husk of what she'd been like before, with fake smiles and fake laughs and fake happiness so she can cover up how much barb's death had pained her, to trick everyone into thinking she's okay. in season 1, her relationship with her daemon is distant, while in season 4, they're deeply in sync with one another, able to communicate with just a look.

steve and delmira

delmira used to be a golden retriever, to make their dad happy, but after beating the demogorgon she went into a bigger, lithe form that was able to take easy bites out of the demogorgon's skin. steve's parents were disapproving and he got no allowance money for months, but he doesn't really care. after getting tortured by the russians, del and steve can go great distances from each other with minimal pain, only feeling a painful tugging feeling in their heart. they avoid doing it, to avoid freaking people out and to avoid either of them getting hurt but in season 4 they leave eachother twice, once, del and sherwin staying with the kids, and then again to protect dustin. del hates herself for not being able to save eddie, but her focus had been so totally on dustin. they don't blame dustin, but they can see dustin and syretia blame themselves, and they don't know what to do about it.

robin and sherwin

sherwin settled when robin was thirteen, for no particular reason. they did a lot of digging on what animal he was (no pun intended) and found out he was a bat eared fox. both of them don't really like it all that much, especially as he attracts the wrong kind of attention with his huge ears. during their time at starcourt, they 100% bet that steve's going to try and kick sherwin, or at least make a nasty comment about him, but he doesn't. post-torture, they can also move great lengths away from each other, which only a slightly painful tugging feeling. sherwin stays with the kids while robin goes to the mama gate, then stays with lucas, erica and max for some extra help, and also to keep sherwin safe, considering he's the smallest of the teens' daemons. he helps a lot with lucas's fight against jason's german shepherd daemon, especially considering how fidelia is a much smaller bird than, say, nancy's gyrfalcon. sherwin blames himself a lot for max's death, even though he couldn't have done anything, and sticks by robin's side a lot post-s4.

eddie and calpurnia

not much to say here. she settled a few months after moving in with wayne, a lot more people disliked him for his snake daemon and he showed her off a lot to make a point of his daemon. she tried to quench the bleeding around his neck by curling around it and putting pressure on it, but he bled out and died with her anyway, letting her turn into dust.

argyle and nita

argyle similarly settled early, only 10 and a half years old when nita stayed in the form of a capybara. known widely as one of the friendliest animals on earth, argyle was proud of his daemon, no matter that his mamá thought she was stupid-looking or his papá with his doberman had sighed loudly at the sight of it. she's touchy-feely with anyone's daemon, and likes it when amias, el's daemon, imitates him by turning into a lesser capybara, not quite able to match nita's size. she cuddles up with lexie a lot, and lexie doesn't really mind, often humoring her and snuffling her to please her.
