Summary: Sheriff Lexa Woods’s life is turned upside down when a hurricane hits her small Californian town, bringing in its midst Clarke Griffin, a beautiful geologist as smart as she’s brave. But when Clarke returns a few months later to study Polis’s geographical situation and assess the risks in case more natural disasters occur, neither can deny the attraction anymore. Will they manage to open up before a series of catastrophes puts their lives at risk?

Chapter 9: The Eye of the Storm
No one remained by the tunnel’s entrance, leading Lexa to hope the Polisians who evacuated the city before the tsunami hit had made it out in one piece. However, it seemed an aftershock had since gotten the better of the weakened structure. Tivy’s headlights showed rocks of various sizes all over the road.
“Should we go on foot?” she asked hesitantly. There wasn’t enough space for Tivy, and they would likely be forced to abandon the horses, but pedestrians could climb over the debris and wiggle between the larger boulders. In theory…
“We shouldn’t,” Clarke answered after worrying at her lower lip with her teeth. “There’s no way to know if the path ahead is clear, and without Tivy, we won’t have any light. Besides, if another aftershock hits, we could be buried alive.”
“Fuck. What do we do then? Go over the mountain on foot? It will take us ages, but it’s doable. Xanthus and Balius can carry the weakest among us.”
Clarke sighed long and low before grabbing her laptop. The keyboard click-clacked as she tapped away almost brutally. Lexa wanted to smooth the furrow between her brows with her thumb before it became permanent, but it was neither the time nor the place.
“All right,” Clarke said a minute later. “The good news is Mount Weather is still pretty quiet. There are minimal gas leaks, which is concerning, but not enough to indicate an eruption. We should be good to stay while we wait for help.”

📣 Hey! Hey! Here we go!
Is there a fic you posted that you wish had gotten a bit more attention? Share the fic, please. ❤️
Thanks so much for asking, Navy! I'm gonna throw out a few series that haven't gotten as much attention as others.
Solace- This started as a one shot and grew. It's angsty AF but also fun and funny. It features Bucky Barnes, Brian Falsworth, a love triangle, lots of feels, and even more shenanigans.
A Scarred Enigma- I know this is not as popular because it's an OC but I love the character development in it. It has Bucky Barnes, fears, feels, and goes out with a bang.
The Taming of the Sheriff- Last but not least, I love this absolutely unhinged story. Written with my friend, @weekendgothgirl and featuring our love for a Villain Reader who is a baddie with bloodlust and the psychotic relationship she pulls Lee Bodecker (played by Sebastian Stan in The Devil All the Time) into. It's full of fun!

I love midwestern Lexa as much a her neighbors, I feel like I should travel to her town and convince her to run for mayor.
Dr. Clarke would be a fine first lady.
She's never the mayor, but she does become the head of the township council and board of trustees which, honestly, holds a lot more clout around town. If you've got a problem, take it up with Lexa, she's the one that'll get the paperwork work done. That's just the way everybody knows how it is.
She's the one who got the dirt roads paved over so they wouldn't flood and got the stop signs around replaced. She's why main street finally got actual parking blocks and the farmers have a community market. She organizes townwide meetups and heads food/fund drives for the poorer families more on the outskirts of town. She runs the schedule for all the tri-city softball leagues and keeps the sheriff off people's asses when they get caught on the back roads speeding. She oversees a lot of the independent funding that keeps the local school so parents don't have to drive 30 minutes just for their kids to get an education. She even helps do job searches to keep most everybody in work so that no one feels left behind.
She's just a natural born leader that way. These are her people, and she takes care of them as best as she can. And they treat with an air of respect and authority right back.
And yes, they do end up hosting yearly Christmas parties at their home that half to town comes to and Clarke, god help her, learns to become a pretty decent host.

Chapter 35
Lexa's day was a pretty good one, she got to spend most of it with Clarke, and generally speaking, Lexa is in a good mood. But her night is the complete opposite because Michael had a bad day at work and there is only one way he knows to deal with it. They are a few hours into the night when the doorbell rings. The unexpected visitors seem to be from the local Sheriff's Department because, for some reason, they seem to be concerned about what's going on inside the house. Neither Lexa nor Michael know why they are here or who might have pointed them their way, but what he does know is that it must be Lexa's fault.

Teen/young adult Madi must have been a handful for her parents. Was there a time when she caused them a lot of grief and maybe betrayed their trust that she felt really really bad and sorry?
Oh yeah. Madi is a trouble maker. She tends to mean well and she really is fucking good kid at heart who knows her moms put a lot of trust in her because so far she hasn't broken it.
But then Madi enters her last year of high school and seems to want to push the limits of that trust as far as they can go. It's never anything that would make Lexa and Clarke be really strict with her, mainly just her being driven home by in the sheriff's office for trespassing on an old farm or being caught smoking weed with her friends. They don't usually give her too much grief about it other than the generic "don't do it again" and make her come home right after school for a few days.
And then one day Madi takes Clarke's truck. They let her take it for small errands and they have slowly trusted her to take it just to go hang out with her friends. I think I've talked about Clarke's truck but it was something her and dad spent a lot of time working on together, it's Clarke's pride and joy and it's very very dear to her and Lexa.
So, she takes the truck. They tell her she can have it for an hour or so but she needs to be back before supper and Madi agrees. Come dinner time, no Madi or truck. They trust her so they give her the benefit of the doubt that she forgot the time but should be home soon. When she doesn't appear by the time it's starting to get dark, they call her. No answer. They call again. No answer. They call her girlfriend and still nothing. At this point they are worried sick and they have already called Lexa's parents to come stay with the kids so they can take the car and go look for her.
They're about to leave when Lexas phone rings. She swears she loses all strength in her legs and her face goes white. She only really hears bit as pieces. Madi's in the hospital. Under age drunk driving. Something's broken. The truck is not in good shape. No one was seriously hurt.
Lexa and Clarke are holding hands so hard in the car drive to the hospital in the next town over that neither feel their hands by the time they park.
Madi's fine, a broken arm, some nasty bruises on her side and a few cuts on her face but physically fine. She can't look up at her moms tho, not even when Clarke hugs her or Lexa cradles her face and kisses her forehead. She fucked up, big time. She knows that but at the moment it seemed like such a fun cool thing to do. She wants to cry but tries not to because it makes her feel like a baby again, trying to do puppy dog eyes and pouty lips so her mommies won't be mad at her.
Cause, they are, really fucking mad at her. Sure, this time it was minor but what if it wasn't? Drunk driving? They thought for sure they'd taught her better than to do such a stupid reckless thing. Not to mention the truck and the price to repair it that even if Raven doesnt charge them for the repair itself, the parts are still gonna have to be paid.
It takes a good while for clexa to trust Madi fully again. They love their daughter very much but she really fucked up on that. After her arm heals, they basically tell her she needs to give at least half of what she makes at her part-time job for the truck repair. And you gotta give her that at least Madi actually offers to give her her salary in full for it and doesn't complain once. She can't really go anywhere without the car since they live a good forty minute walking from town but it's not like she wants to go and see anyone either way, school is enough with her friends calling her a legend when she did such a shitty thing to her parents and feels really fucking ashamed for.
At least now she gets to stay home and bake with Lexa again, play with Aden who is still only 6 years old and she feels she barely spends time with, and her and Clarke actually start working together on the old bike that's been in the barn for years now.

There’s so much supercorp on my dash right now. I can’t. I’m going to bed. This is stupid. And now I just found out from a post that it’s a 2 week wait for the next episode so fucking shoot me now. That shit hurt. And I can’t even go to my other fandoms for happiness cause Lexa is fucking dead and I need Wynonna Earp to come back so I have at least one happy ship. 😭 I hate life

Chapter 8: Survivors
Cold. Darkness. Need for air. Lexa’s brain, fueled by her panic, couldn’t immediately comprehend what had happened and how her day had gone from bad to fatal.
As her instincts pushed her to fight against the waves dragging her away and deeper, she couldn’t tell which way the surface was. Lost in the raging flow too opaque for the sunlight to pierce through, up and down were relative notions.
Something large and hard, likely a tree, hit her in the back. She opened her mouth reflexively to gasp and swallowed a gulp of muddy water. Her stomach and lungs protested violently, making her cough as it burned her airways and esophagus.
I’m going to die, she thought.
The lack of oxygen had her chest contract so hard she wondered if she had cracked her ribs, and for a second, Lexa wished she would lose consciousness. She was tempted to stop struggling. To relax, inhale, and let the water claim her. She let herself float, arms away from her torso, her legs lazily kicking.
Flashes of Aden and Madi’s faces popped behind her closed eyelids. What would happen to her children, already orphaned once, if she died? Anya would take them in, but who knew if her cousin had made it out alive? And to imagine them, traumatized and alone, under her parents’ judgmental and strict watch…
As if she had stuck her fingers into a plug socket, Lexa’s entire body jerked. She couldn’t give up yet. Not as long as her heart beat in her chest.
With an energy born of desperation, she reached her hands ahead and pulled. Again. And again. She repeated the move until stars danced before her eyes and the last bubbles of oxygen left her nose. Until she thought she might have passed out yet continued to kick her legs.

Twice? Tell me more
Well, maybe not almost arrested but it was a fine line of very well could've. One wasn't so bad. Was speeding and the cop had been hiding and then, yeah I started getting smart at the mouth😬 I was tired from work and should've just shut up
The second time tho fr like,,, we were just so stupid. I blame being young and brainless. We'd had a house party and everyone was wasted and hungry so we decided to order pizza from Casey's cuz everything else was closed, and it's only like a 5 min drive from where I lived. We chose the least drunk one (who was absolutely still hammered btw) and had her drive and I rode shotgun so she wouldn't have to go alone. Except,,, we pulled up and there's like a fucking dozen gd sheriff deputies inside standing around drinking coffee and eating.
Of course we start practically shitting ourselves because fuuuuck we're fucked we're so fucked omg. And we can't just reverse it outta there and leave because that'd be like slapping a giant flashing sign on our ass saying "please pull us over for sus af behaviour" 🥴 so on a hail Mary moment a la actress Lexa, we pulled our shit together enough to come up with the "brilliant" idea to act tired and angry af, and use the excuse that her little brother (who did not exist??? Why we chose that I don't remember but at the time the logic was sound) had had a party and ordered pizza and made us come pick it up and oh booo we were so annoyed and half asleep and pissed off. I do not know how it worked, but it did. Sounds lame on paper but ya girl was sweating fireball scented b u l l e t s for like the next hour. Guarentee if they hadn't been stuffing their faces on break they wouldn't have just laughed it all off. By the grace of God alone our asses pulled it together enough to not seem as wasted as we were and get arrested for dd
Also, seriously, never ever drink and drive. Or ride with someone who has been drinking. It's stupid and never worth it. This is not a brag story, this is a cautionary tale

Chapter 36
Clarke finds out from a friend who works at the Sheriff's Department about the late night visit at Lexa's. She's worried because she knows what they told the cops was not true, and Clarke also knows that might have made things worse for Lexa and calls to check in on her. Following up from the last chapter as well, the Sheriff's Department makes another visit down to the Thompson's house for a follow-up welfare check after last night. They want to talk to Lexa in private in case she couldn't speak freely with her husband around and Lexa is nothing if not annoyed by the intrusion to her day. And this is the first time Lexa wonders about just how long she can take all of this, not so much wonders about leaving Michael, but just how long she can stay strong until she breaks completely.
