Marina bc he saw her on a mystery island and thought she was cute

Alfonso bc I think he just likes the way he looks with his eyes (he's so silly)

Avery because he thinks the markings on him are super cool and he likes that he looks so cracked out of his mind

Biskit because of his shirt and because of the fact he looks like he's doing some type of form of weed in his house 💀

Chadder because I like to think that cal likes cheese and he literally went "haha Andre look...he's a mouse and he's cheese"

Coco because she just speaks to him. He likes the fact that she doesn't look like any of the other villagers

Ketchup because he likes the fact that she's a tomato and he just thinks she's cute (he was hunting for Molly and got the wrong duck)

MOLLY. He fucking loves Molly I don't care what no one says. He's Molly's number one fan and he hunted for so long to find her. (Like over 1000 nmts)

Stinky. He has a love hate relationship with stinky. Stinky was one of the villagers he started off with and no matter how hard he trys to get him to move out he just won't move out. (He doesn't have the heart to let him go anyways he's just so ugly he loves him) (he wants to replace him with ruby)

Meow...he modded his animal crossing to get meow because he got mad he wasted all his nmts hunting for meow despite her not being in New horizons...(he's a little stupid...)

I would like to think Andre only got acnh to play with Cal because he kept bothering him to play. Andre never finished the game but he has a decent amount of villagers

Andre

Hazel was one of his first villagers and he likes her unibrow so he never wants to kick her off.

Mott was another villager he got first in his game. He likes him because of his nerdy look and likes to bully him.

Tangy. Andre loves Oranges (a hc of mines) so he got Tangy because he thinks she's the superior villager. She's a cat like Mel and she's made out of orange so he automatically loved her.

Leopold. He gained a liking toward the lions and he thinks they are all very funny looking and he likes fat shaming them.

Scoot. He thinks Scoot is so funny looking and calls him a dumbass duck but he truly thinks he's so funny (Cal makes jokes about Scoot and Molly being kindergarten sweethearts of some sort)

Sherb. He just thinks he's funny looking and he likes the fact that he's tired all the time

Eunice because Andre loves sheep and Cal calls Eunice ugly and doesn't understand why Andre loves him so much.

stranded pt. 3

In which Yunho and Wooyoung should never, under any circumstances, be paired together for a rescue team.

“Mingi?!”

“Song Mingi! Where are you?!”

You and Wooyoung screamed into the void of the forest, panic lacing your voice and annoyance lacing his. 

How the hell do you lose an entire human being and his pet crab? Hongjoong was going to murder you both, then have Jongho rip every tree from the soil it stood in to find Mingi faster because knowing him, he was hiding either in a cave or near a large rock. 

“We need to go back,” Wooyoung started, ignoring the noises you made in protest, “we need more people, and we need a light source. It’s getting dark, we won’t be any use if we can’t even see where we’re going.”

You knew he was right; the sun was setting, painting the sky a beautiful hue of reds and purples. You looked off into the opposite direction, knowing Mingi was somewhere in this large expanse of forest, lost and scared but thankfully not alone, and you started walking back in the direction of the camp. 

You and Wooyoung didn’t speak, the two of you too afraid of what Hongjoong or Seonghwa would say upon your return with a member of your group missing. You couldn't even get the herbs that you had originally set out to find, panicking upon realizing that Mingi was gone and freaking out to the point of forgetting everything that needed to be picked. 

The two of you returned to camp to see Hongjoong sitting in the sand, curled in a fetal position with Seonghwa hovering over him with a panicked expression. Wooyoung motioned for you to wait as he quietly made his way over to Seonghwa.

As it turns out, Hongjoong had gotten a hold of San’s...special herbs earlier in the day and the effects of them still hadn’t worn off. He was in no position to lead, and Seonghwa was too tired to yell at the two of you about losing Mingi, so he sent Yunho with you both, as well as a light, to try and find the tall scared boy.

Which is how you three got in your current situation.

You all had found Mingi after about an hour of searching in the darkness, coming across a small oasis type structure near a cave. Mingi was just there, swaying his feet back in the crystal blue water as Sherb rested on some rocks nearby. Yunho tackled the boy into the water, nearly drowning him and causing him to scare everything within a ten-mile radius clean out of its skin, fur and/or shell, and also resulted in the four of you (under the watchful eyes of Sherbert the Crab) having a massive water fight.

“Wooyoung! Put me- wait no!” You were screaming with both laughter and fear as Wooyoung spun you around on his shoulders, in the water, that was surrounded by rocks. Sharp rocks. Sharp rocks that looked like they would hurt if you were to hit them at the speed you were going. The sounds of laughs and screeches as people were either tossed into the water or splashed with water reverberated throughout the forest. 

The four of you eventually grew tired of playing around like children, and after stripping down to nothing but your trousers, you and the boys lied down in the soil, staring up at the night sky above. 

“Hey, Y/N,” Mingi started, his voice slightly hoarse, almost as if he had been crying (he had), “why are those lights just...in the sky?”

“Oh,” you replied, looking up at where Mingi was pointing, “that’s the aurora borealis. The Northern lights.” you said simply.

“That doesn’t answer my question.”

“Then make your question clearer.”

“Ooh.”

“Burn.”

“...”

Silence consumed you all until you, once again, burst into a giggling fit. The boys followed in suit, and eventually the four of you were howling with laughter. 

It was weird, being on the sea for so long, constantly being on high alert for rival pirates, none of you really had the time to be kids. 

You realized that as you lied next to the three boys, all of you were close in age, but Wooyoung, Mingi, and Yunho were only 19. Just barely adults, if they could even be considered adults at all. As your laughs died down you gave a small sigh, you didn’t really want this to end. Sure, it was stressful, but it gave you all a much needed break from the stress of the seven seas.

You were lost in your thoughts until Yunho poked you in the stomach, you turned to face him to see him holding up a small sack. Inside the sack was an assortment of berries of various colors, some you had never seen before. He held the bag out to you, and you noticed that Mingi and Wooyoung had already taken a handful for themselves. 

You took a small handful of the berries and one by one popped them into your mouth. Some were sweet, some were disgustingly sour. Very few were just right, and you knew that eating random berries from the middle of the forest was not something smart, but it was something.

Eventually, the world grew fuzzy. The auroras above grew in size, wavering and fizzling in and out of your vision. The trees seemed bigger, but also more colorful, as if they had been saturated in some type of neon light. You felt as if the cold, hard ground had suddenly become a cloud, and everything was funny.

The boys also felt this way, expressing it through various slurred sentences that your brain couldn’t bother figuring out. You eventually rolled on your side to face them, a wide grin breaking out on your face as a slightly wicked idea spread through your, shockingly functional, brain.

“Hey,” you start, words feeling heavy on your tongue, “le’s go in the cave.”

My Animal Crossing New Horizonts villagers :)

Frita is my starter villager and I reseted my game until I get her, I fell in love with a burger sheep once I saw here before buying ACNH. Another starter was Buck, let him be a honorable mention here :D

Drago was my first villager I took from a wild island. I met lots of different lazy villagers, including Sherb and Zuker that I met like billion times lol. Drago was the first one I really-really liked tho. He’s also one of the rare lazy villagers that has not play but nature hobby

Apple is just a smol bun, and I find funny that a pop-girl is a smol bun

Poppy is the least cursed villager on my island, she’s extremely cute and a bit shy and I’ll kill everyone in this room and myself for her

Del is a sea old man and he’s one of the few cranky villagers that I like (I like cranky personality itself but it has not much interesting designs for me). He grumbles at everyone except Poppy because she’s an innocent child. He also likes to play D&D with Drago cuz he has this game in his house, and like... Dragons... Drago............ lol

Tex is fat and smug, and any smug characters that are also fat has higher chances to be adored by me lmao. For a LONG time I had two smug birbs, second one being Jacques that was forced to live on my island, and I tried to move him out for about 2 months. He ended up being my last moving villager and I was very happy to get rid of him. Sorry Jacques but only one smug birb can live on the Krapivka island...

Lyman is the most hillarious villager. I usually find jock villagers a bit borring but Lyman is literally 10 years old and this fact by itself is already ridiculous lmao. One time I saw a t-shirt with a big “HELLO” in russian on it writen in Times New Roman font, and I found it very funny and gifted to Lyman. 1 or 2 days later he gifted me a long sleeve with two big “ANIMALS” in russian on it’s sleeves. This long sleeve is terribly ugly and I still laugh about it. God I love this lil dude. Oh, also... If you never saw koala paws, please google them

For a snooty villager I wanted one of two snooty kangaroos, Mathilda or Astrid. I met Mathilda first, and my gf took Astrid. I love how female kangaroos has lil bebes that copies every emotion of their moms, that’s the reason I really wanted one on my island

For a second snooty villager I really wanted to find Snooty (lol). I don’t understand why people think that anteaters are ugly in AC, like bruh just look at their noses they’re so cute! I wanted an anteater since the beginning but other personalities were gradually replenished by other species, I decided that I want the snooty Snooty

I've been looking for Lucky the longest, and this hunt was the most nervous one. First of all, it was my very last villager slot (thanks Jacques for finally leaving my island), and if I couldn’t find a villager I want until 5 am of the next day, I had no other chance to replace it. It’s because the last villagers on your island never want to leave it until someone else moves out and they stop being the last ones, and I didn’t want anyone to leave. Second, I wanted one of 3 lazy dogs I picked for myself, one of them being Lucky (and it was right before Halloween and I was joking like lmao imagine getting a mummy doggo for Halloween), but for some reason I didn’t get any of 3 dogs in 13 DAMN HOURS!! I almost gave up and wanted to buy an amiibo card but in 1 am I finally found Lucky! I was extremely happy about it, it was worth all the struggles and nook mile tickets :з

Year in Review - Animal Crossing New Horizons

I started writing this review/criticism in May of 2020 but decided to update it as the year went along and post it on the anniversary of NH’s release. I would like to preface that this is mostly going to be full of questions of criticisms, I love this game. I have not been able to put it down since I got it on March 20th. My first AC game was NL and then I played HHD. I was ecstatic when they announced NH at E3 2019 and kept trying to find other games to fit in my AC shaped hole in my heart but I wasn’t able to fill it till this game came out. I feel like the pace of the game is great with how you build up to unlocking terraforming and 5 stars, and I feel like the updates are well timed especially with how crazy 2020 was for everybody. That being said there were some things that irked me. 

Some of the points I will bring up came from other people/commenters I have seen on here, Discord, Reddit, and Twitter that I also agree with. Some other points are from Youtubers such as ShayMay and ChuyPlays. And others are from me. 

With that out of the way, let’s get on with the review. Warning, I guess, don’t expect this to be an essay, this is just a patchwork quilt made up of thoughts.

Terraforming

I wish cliffs/tiers had a smaller level? Like how we’re able to make stepping stones for our rivers if we don’t want to put a bridge down/use our vaulting pole. I just wish there was a cliff alternative. 

Another cliff alternative would be if we could put bridges between cliffs. I think we’ve all been there where we see this picture

When we go into terraforming, I wish a grid showed up on our island. It would make it much easier to avoid hitting the wrong square when I’m trying to change a river. 

Having us be able to “close” a waterfall from a lower level but not create a new on at the same spot. 

Also the fact we can add a 4th tier but can’t put anything on it is just strange to me. I know we have to have a limit to how high we can go, but at least let me put nature stuff, such as trees/flowers/bushes, on top of it instead of just a flat piece of land. 

Houses

Why no ceiling items? Find it odd they added a bunch of stuff in HHD and didn’t add that to the new mainline game

There’s no reason I can think of to why we can’t access our storage when we’re crafting inside our house. 

Buildings

Dodo Airlines

The Dodo Islands right now are very boring and barely use them. I have enough money and materials to not go farming and save up all my NMTs for when I go villager hunting, which has also become a rarity. I think it would be a good idea to make some islands seasoned themed. Have them be all rare, but have an island where it’s fall and has maple leaves falling, a cherry blossom one, one with snowflakes. I wouldn’t recommend they make Holiday themed ones, but having seasonal ones would be nice.

When I mess up a dodo code or accidentally hit ‘make a bridge’ instead of incline, etc. why do I have to restart the ENTIRE conversation instead of the characters just being “oh? did you mean “x” or “would you like to retype it?” like is it that hard??  

Resident Services

As much as I love Isabelle this game has made me very indifferent towards her. I think they gave her a role that didn’t need to exist. They could have either let us roam around without any warnings to who was roaming around our island, in the campsite, or any weather updates. Just have us rely on our villagers, the TV, and our eyeballs. OR they could have given us a social media like app and/or a weather app. Instead, they gave us Isabelle that only announces something once a month.

Nook’s Cranny

This might just be me but can they add a little DIY area in the store? Maybe just make to where you can only customize things?? This is more out of convenience than an actual problem  

Speaking of customization, since you can make medicine but also buy can we do the same for the custom kits and bait. Like make it where we can buy bait and also make our own custom kits? I just think it’s weird that they give us either/or for medicine but not for the other 2 that I honestly use way more than medicine.

Why do the Able Sisters get to have all of the colors of an item in their shop but Nook’s Cranny can’t? And why can’t we just be able to customize all items that have multiple looks/colors? Example, why can’t I just be able to change the wood type for the antique set instead of having to buy each one? I get that the furniture catalog is already small, but that’s not my fault. They’ve decided to not add past furniture sets into NH. 

Able Sisters

Let us multi select clothes instead of it just being how much we can wear. idc if it’ll just put those clothes in our personal storage and then we’ll have to run home and put it in that storage, I just hate having to walk back in and out every time I want a dress in multi colors. ALSO tell us if we already bought it, like a little storage icon or something

Why can’t we hang any article of clothing on the back wall, why do we have to either make it or have the OG qr designer come to our island? 

Why can’t we have the transparent option when designing clothes? I think it would make many designer’s lives easier instead of having to make 8 versions of the same outfit.

NPCs

I have played this game almost every day since it came out, minus 2 days. I have also been able to make friends on discord that help with trading/cataloging/etc. I have all of Saharah’s, Kicks’, Label’s, and Redd’s items. I have all of the fish/bug models I want and have no desire to “catch them all”. I haven’t talked to Wisp in months because I have most of the items and his idea of “expensive” is 10k bells. The only NPC I actively look forward to is Celeste because even though I now have all of her DIYs, she still gives out star fragments, regular large or horoscope, when I talk to her. 

What I’m wondering is if they’re planning on doing anything else with these characters. Before I speak further I’m going to weed out characters that I am actually fine with. CJ and Flick will always be there if I want a bug/fish model, I understand that Saharah/Kicks/Redd have a ton of stuff to get and w/o the help of my discord friends, I probably wouldn’t have gotten everything till late 2021. 

So that leaves Label and Wisp. I understand Wisp is there for beginners, but now that I’m at a point where I am a bell millionaire and have most of the Nook’s items cataloged, there is no reason for me to talk to him. I wish Nintendo had put in a system where depending on the person who Wisp is talking to, it determines how much money you have in your bank account/looks at your catalog, Wisp’s item’s worth goes up.

As for Label...I never saw her as viable. I also thought the tickets were dumb and you don’t even have to talk to her to have her items show up in the shop the next day. I think it would be great if when you bought all of her items, she decided to join the Able’s sisters in their shop like in NL and then have Gracie show up in her place for the weekly NPC. 

Where is Blanca? Or Brewster? Or Shrunk, Katrina, Gracie, or Kapp’n and his family? I understand we will probably never see characters like Harriet or Pete because they have been replaced by a new system, but what is the excuse for these other characters? I’m hoping they show up in year 2 of NH but...we’ll see.

Villagers

I think having your first villagers living in basic homes is a good idea but one that quickly gets annoying. I found Sherb while villager hunting for the 1st time and have had him ever since, but his house is stuck at basic lazy setup. Instead of me going back and forth on whether or not i should trust somebody enough to hold Sherb, get somebody else out, then get him to move back to my island, You can have it to where you let them leave, then just wait till he comes to the campsite to visit and reinvite him. You get his actual house and he still remembers you. This could also go for you accidentally letting somebody go or letting somebody go then regretting it. Also it’d be fun to see some old villagers again.

I was curious and looked back on past games to see how many new villagers were released each game and NH has been the least amount. NL released 112 new villagers in total while NH has released 8. I’m hoping they might release more down the line but, hella disappointing imo. Along with the Sanrio update and adding those characters to the game, I am more hopeful that they’ll be adding new characters!

Having an “event” of sorts where you visit a villager’s house and they’re looking inside their closet. They look at you in surprise when you walk in and sheepishly explain that they were going through their clothes/items. They then decide to ask you for help since they can’t decide what to get rid of/what to keep and think you have a good eye for that sort of thing. Basically, a way to get rid of any clothes/items your villager somehow received bc I guess Isabelle scolding them isn’t enough.

A big problem I feel like everybody has is the villager dialogue. Yes they added sub personality types for each personality but they are not perfectly cut in half, ex. are the Sisterly types where there are 4 B types and 20 A types, like?? How I have “fixed” this problem is by having one of each personality type on my island so I always have different conversations with my villagers, but I understand not a lot of people do that. Some people just want normal/peppy types on their island bc they’re cute as hell, I get it. I know it would be...difficult to come up with unique dialogue for all 399 villagers, including Sanrio, but....you could at least for the “gimmicky” villagers. Some examples of these villagers are Ribbot and Sprocket, Lucky and Ankha, the super hero squad, and Kabuki. 

Quality Life stuff

Why cant we sit AND wish on stars? And I don’t mean the sit emote; why can’t I sit on a bench and wish on stars?

It sucks when I’m about to hit my rocks or just do a lot of dig work and then my shovel breaks in the middle of it. To show the tool is about to break, cracks should start to form on the handle and get deeper/longer as you keep using it, starting when you have 5 uses left. You can also add an auditory element by making the tool sound like its struggling when you are using it. Net/Shovel/Axe/Fishing Pole can have cracks show up on the handle, Slingshot can have crack show up at the bottom of the 2 spokes while having 1 at the top of the handle. And the watering can have cracks at the base of the can.

If our inventory is full when I dig up a flower, why can’t I replace it with another flower to bury? And if I can dig up an item at an diagonal item, I should be able to bury it again at the same angle.

Other

Having more...liveliness?? on the island, idk how else to say it. Example is whenever you travel by plane there's a chemtrail in the sky afterwards, maybe just seeing other planes go by throughout the day. Maybe you can get a hint Redd or Gulliver will be visiting you tomorrow if you see their boats beyond the horizon, Redd’s just crusin’ and the Gulls’ boats looking messed up. On a week where you don't have a new camper, maybe have an old villager visit. That leads me too

I wish villager’s doors could count as “exterior decorating” and we can just put any ornamental on there instead having to hope that your villager will put the wreath on their own door. 

Conclusion

Exciting animal crossing news!!

So from today the thought bubble is off cooldown on my island. I am going to try and cycle it around to Stu without time travel before it gets to near his birthday (as villagers can’t get the bubble in the weeks around their birthday) this means I have until April 15th to try and cycle it to him, however if not I will keep trying afterwards

It’s not cos I dislike stu!! I’ve had him around for ages and I love the lazy personality, he’s a good villager. But there’s a bunch of other cute lazies out there who I love and would really be an asset to my island. Plus stu was my first lazy so he has the dirt floor house which I don’t really like

I’ve run my odds and they look pretty good!!

The villagers are

Zucker. The main one I am looking for tbh, he is so cute and has an amazing design which really fits the lazy personality.

Sherb. This boi has grown on me so much recently, he is literally so adorable

Jeremiah!! Severely underrated and cute villager plus I’ve always wanted a frog

Stitches. I love his design, I just wanna give him a hug

Raymond. Yeah he’s not lazy, but like... he’s Raymond. I’ve wanted him forever and would take him immediately because I love him so much, even if I’d be without a lazy for a while. I’m unlikely to find Raymond bc he is a cat but if I did I would then have to kick graham and rehunt for a lazy. So eventually Raymond would effectively replace Graham

9 months of playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons

My villager list feels overrated to me and I kinda miss the other villagers I started with, which were all left to chance because I didn't know you could hunt to fill these plots. Only 2 out of the 10 I started with still remain with me, Cherry and Julia. Somehow I managed to remember which villagers got replaced by new ones and how I got them.

Cherry and Billy were my sisterly and jock starters, and so the numbers on this list indicate which plot has been occupied by which residents while they lived here. These numbers do not indicate the sequence of villagers leaving across the whole island, only the villagers who moved into that specific plot. Names in bold indicate that I have gotten their photos. So far, only Cherry has given me her photo twice.

That’s a lot of villagers I’ve gone through, but now I think I’m happy with my villagers and hopefully I won’t be hunting anymore. Unless someone I really like appears in the campsite, nobody is leaving for the time being.

On Villager Personality Stacking...

So this has come up quite a bit, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it! 

First off, the campsite method is pretty flexible for its uses, but I specifically wrote it for fishing out one specific villager. That’s why my general answer is that you should stack villager types, since if you’re looking for Raymond for example you would want it to spew only smugs at you. This goes doubly for Audie, because there are almost twice as many peppys as there are smugs in this game and whatever is faster = better. This assumes you’re willing to wreck your island and your villager list for whoever you’re looking for, which I was because nook mile island RNG is crap and Raymond is wayyyy too expensive to try and trade for online + doesn’t have an amiibo. 

It’s also why I recommend only doing campsite for villagers you REALLY want to have, since it requires the rest of your villagers to at least be flexible if not completely replaceable. Resetting for them to kick out one specific villager is also hell, from my experience.

The second thing you could do is use the campsite to set up your entire Island, which is possible but a really long project and not one that can be expedited if you stack certain personalities. I aways try to have all 8 on my town/island (which is why I’m currently.. shifting out Marshal for Audie, lol) and my current list looks like this:

JOCK: Bam LAZY: Erik, Sherb SMUG: Julian, Raymond, Marshal CRANKY: Fang NORMAL: Stella UCHI: Muffy SNOOTY: Blanche PEPPY: Missing!

I lucked out at the time and Raymond asked to replace Cleo, my stand-in snooty, so I could use my campsite to look for Blanche who I was missing. After Blanche came in, I amiibo-d out my peppy with Julian and I can now look for Audie with the campsite if I wanted to.  However, because there are 10 slots and only 8 personalities, you are always going to have trouble finding 2 out of your perfect 10 list. Try to work through your list by shifting your focus on which type is missing and who gets replaced. Since things like nookazon and nook.market exist, at a certain point I would prioritize just trying to TT out villagers you don’t like and finding them on those sites. It then becomes a priority list, which I would personally order as: NEED TO HAVE, EXPENSIVE, NICHE.

Julian was my ‘need to have’, which I was covered for because of my amiibo card. Raymond is expensive, so I fished him out. Blanche was niche enough that after I got Raymond and got tired of resetting I went ahead and just got her on a trade on Nookazon. 

It’s really figuring out what your options are (if online trade is even an option for you with a nintendo online sub, etc) and trying to finagle it to work for you most effectively and quickly. I emphasize stacking so much in the guide because I want people to find results asap, I’d feel horrible if someone pushed in 20+ hours and couldn’t find who they were looking for. It doesn’t mean that it’s necessary or that it won’t work if you don’t do it, it just means that it’ll take a lot longer. Everyone’s threshold of how much time they’re willing to invest before something becomes ‘not worth it’ is unique, so I can try to offer tips but in the end it’s up to you if you want to stack villager types or not! You’re always free to try the odds that you want, and if you have villagers you absolutely don’t want to let go of then that’s totally understandable :)

hi jack! i'm using your sherb theme, and when i try to update the navigation section it won't change the link, and instead just uses what the title is. do you have any suggestions / reasons / it could totally be my fault. thank you for the themes you make! sorry to bother you!
