missing sister (2)
Part 1
there will be 1 more in this series, set in the future.
âNena, wake up. Noah? We need to leave.â Waking up was very disorienting. This was certainly not the bed from Keiraâs apartment. It was too comfy, too warm and safe.Â
âAlexia?âÂ
âYes nena. You slept here last night. Youâre coming with me and Olga. Sheâs going to drop me off at training and then you two are going to hang out.âÂ
Weird but okay. Begrudgingly, you got up. Taking the clothes handed to me from Olga and letting her guide me through to the bathroom. There were a lot of fancy things in there. Some smelt very nice, others did not.Â
The hot shower and fancy products felt good. As soon as you stepped foot in the living area, Olga and Alexia stopped talking. Both turning to smile at me and usher you to the door. The car ride was quiet until we arrived at the training ground.Â
âYouâll go with Olga today, Iâll talk to Keira and Lucy. We will see you later okay?â You nodded, not looking at her as she got out of the car.Â
âAvĂsame si pasa algo. Mi amor, por favor, no la dejes fuera de tu vista. Te quiero.â She kissed Olga and walked away.Â
Olga patted the front seat she was previously sitting in. âMi amiga, piano. You like piano yes?âÂ
âI do yes.âÂ
âPerfecto! We go.â Her smile was infectious. There was something about Olga, the way she seemed to live so carefree. She was confident, within herself, her relationship with Alexia and her job.Â
âClaudia Habla inglĂŠs. She good.â She led us up a small alleyway between two house, finally reaching someoneâs backyard. There was a fire pit in the middle, couches and chairs surrounded it. Whoever lived here was very popular.Â
âÂĄHola Olga! ÂĄComo en!â The cheerful voice belonged to a blonde curly haired woman who has just as many tattoos as MarĂa.Â
âHola, Claud. Esta es Noah, la chica de la que te hablĂŠâ.
âHI Noah, Iâm Claudia. Olga says you like the piano?â You nodded your head, hiding slightly behind Olga, âcome this way, I have an old Steinway & Sons.âÂ
The piano was beautiful, situated in what looked to be a reading room. One wall covered in books, the other covered in paintings and photos, the main wall with big windows. It was like out of a movie.Â
You sat down at the piano and started to play. It felt like only a few minutes had passed before Claudia and Olga came in for lunch.Â
âWhat is that?â You pointed towards the weird cake looking thing on the table.Â
âTortilla.â Olga sat down, taking a drink and giving you a look to do the same.Â
âItâs basically an omelette. Eggs, potatoes, oil, onion.  I have tomato sauce if you want it?âÂ
âSure. Thanks.â It had the same texture as a normal omelette but it tasted better. It was heavier, thanks to the potatoes. Spanish food was mostly better than English, expect for the fish and chips. Nothing topped ours.Â
No one spoke during lunch time, or while we cleaned up.Â
âHave you heard from Alexia?â You asked Olga quietly. She shook her head, giving your shoulder a squeeze. You went back and sat at the piano, staying there until a very stressed Olga came in.Â
The conversation between Alexia, Keira and Lucy was over and we needed to leave.
âAfter practice we need to talk please Keira. Lucia come too.â Alexia was firm but not unkind with her voice.Â
From the moment Keira, Lucy and Alexia sat down, Keira was on edge, ready to defend whatever her little sister did.Â
âNoah is with Olga, at Claudiaâs house. She has said some things, Iâve noticed some things and no doubt Lucy too.â Alexia started, she didnât want to come off aggressive or accuse her of anything.Â
âWhat Alexia? What has Noah said?âÂ
âYou know sheâs plays piano? Draws very good too. Better than Mapi, better than anyone Iâve seen. She feels as though you, and your parents do not care about her, see her-â
âthatâs ridiculous! We all care about her! Sheâs just a dramatic teenage.âÂ
âKeira.â Lucy saw it. Sheâs seen it from the beginning. Birthdays were missed in favour of Keiraâs games, every time she spoke to the Walsh parents all they would talk about was Keira, never Noah. If she didnât know Noah existed, there would be no trace. âShe was going to music school in London. Sheâd catch the train, stay with Leah and come home. Your parents never noticed because they were never around. From an outsider, you wouldnât know Noah existed to your parents, or really to you.âÂ
âWhat the hell are you saying Lucy? I talk about her, I care about her. I took her in didnât I? Sheâs here because I took her instead of letting them ship her off to a boarding school!â Keira was defensive, she didnât want to believe what both Alexia and Lucy were saying.Â
âSheâs given up a lot for you, because of you.â Alexia said.Â
âI never asked her too!âÂ
âFor fuck sake Kei. Sheâs a child. A child. She didnât have a choice. You have been so consumed by your own life, your own relationships that you canât even see it. Sheâs 16, yet she acts like an adult because thatâs the only way people will take notice of her.âÂ
There was only silence that followed for the next few minutes.Â
âI spoke to Leah, which for the record was hard because she speaks so fast and her accent is worse than yours, but I suggest you talk to her, then talk to Noah but donât get defensive. Listen to what she has to say, really listen. Itll be hard to hear it but I think itâs needed.â Alexia stood up, squeezing Keiraâs shoulder then leaving. Sending Olga a text to bring Noah home so Keira or Lucy could pick her up.Â
âWhat the hell do I do Lucy?âÂ
âDo as capi said, talk to Leah, then listen to Noah.âÂ
âHave you known the entire time?âÂ
âNo. I told you during the world cup what she told me, but I donât think that was the full story.âÂ
âI just thought she didnât want to be there, that she was missing her friends, her life, I didnât realise it was something more.âÂ
Silence took over the trio, their drinks empty, minds full.Â
âWhat do I do?â Keira asked.Â
âListen to her, donât interrupt her or anything. Let her tell you how sheâs been feeling and whatâs been happening.âÂ
âIs she at your apartment?âÂ
âNo sheâs with Olga but Iâll message her to bring her back.âÂ
It didnât take long for the trio to arrive at Alexia and Olgaâs apartment, you were still beaming from happiness until Lucy and Keira walked in. It was a weird feeling, having a happy day seemingly ripped through your fingers when Keira said the simple words of âwe need to talk.âÂ
The drive back to Keiraâs was rough. Everyone was anxious, no one said a word. The futile attempt to escape to your room the second you entered was halted by Lucyâs strong arms guiding you to the couch.Â
âI want you to tell me everything. I will not talk, I will not make judgment or anything but I need to know Noah.â Keira said, she tried to be firm, but it came out more as a plea.Â
âThereâs nothing to tell.âÂ
âDonât play dumb. Youâre a completely different kid with Alexia and Olga, even with Leah. Why?âÂ
âWhy?â You scoffed, âcanât you figure it out yourself?âÂ
âNo because what I thought was that you were just a bad kid. I was told you were skipping school, sneaking out, doing drugs. But here, here youâre different so what gives?âÂ
âIt wasnât sneaking out or skipping school. Technically.â Keira gave you a look so you continued, âanytime I asked to go out, ma and dad would just say âdo whatever, we wonât be home laterâ, blah blah blah. It wasnât sneaking only ever sneaking out when they had friends over and needed to keep up appearances. As for the skipping school, I was enrolled in special music and art classes at the TAFE, then Iâd go to London for classes on Saturdayâs.âÂ
âAnd the drugs? Vapping?âÂ
âI tried weed once. Thatâs all I swear. I didnât like the feeling so I didnât do it again. The others did but I didnât. And yeah Iâve vaped, not since Iâve been here though.âÂ
âMa and dad never said anything about your music classes.âÂ
âYeah because they didnât know, or care. Iâm not sure but I didnât want to find out.âÂ
âWhy didnât you come to me? You went to Leah, even Lucy but you wouldnât come to me. Why Noah?â Keira was getting frustrated, she was hurt and confused.Â
âhow could I? You were here or busy with your life in Manchester. You said it yourself, you believed what they told you. Everything was always about you Keira, not me. I was always told not to both you because you were busy. Every year it got worse, missing birthdays, missing Christmas, missing art shows or recitals.âÂ
The tears that had formed in both yours and Keiraâs eyes were now free flowing. Lucy was sat in the armchair, Narla curled up at her feet. She was there purely to keep the peace, to make sure both sides were heard.Â
âMy art is good. Really good. Olga paid me to make a drawing for Alexia, Jana has asked me to draw a photo of her and Jill in Amsterdam, so many people have paid me for commission art. I have thousands saved and I was planning on leaving as soon as I turned 18. I taught Leah how to play the piano, Iâve sold music sheets, done a Christmas concert at the London Music Hall. I get good grades, good enough that I can go to college in America if I want, but no one knows because no one cares.â
âI care.â Keira chocked back a sob, feeling a mixture of pride and guilt. Guilt for being so wrapped up in her own world that she forgot to include you in hers. âI care noodle. Iâm so proud of you truly. I want to fix this. Fix it all. Please just tell me what I need to do.âÂ
âDonât make me go back. Not to Manchester, if I have to go back Iâll stay in London or-â
âYouâre not going back, Noah.â Lucy said firmly. Yes you were Keiraâs sister, but for the majority of your life, Lucy was around. So to her, you were also her sister and she felt just as bad as Keira. âYouâll either stay here with Keira, or you can stay with me. Alexia and Olga would even take you too. Maybe we need to do a custody agreement between the four of us.âÂ
Before you had a chance to do anything, Keira launched herself into your body. Hugging you as tight as humanly possible. Youâd give her the benefit of doubt, she didnt know but it didnât excuse anything.Â
The relationship between you and your parents was less than good, but it didnât really matter to you. You had your art and your music. No one could take that away from you.Â
By winter break, things with Keira were better. Not perfect, but you were sisters so that was unlikely. Her plan was to go home to England for Christmas, however you didnât want to. Alexia and Olga both agreed youâd come with them and with their help, Keira agreed.Â
When Olga finally gifted the hand drawn photo to Alexia, there were a lot of tears. Alexia rugby tackled you to the ground, kissing all over your face while crying happy tears. Eli thanked you as well, in a much more gentle way.Â
It was the first Christmas that things felt good. You werenât around purely to keep up appearances, you didnât have to hide away or force conversation with anyone.Â
Maybe Spain was where youâd find a home, and a person to share that home with.Â

TW: angst, abusive relationship (not with Simon), toxic relationship (that´s with Simon), bruises, he is kinda mean but can you blame him?, he is your ex, curse words, no proofread we die like real men, english is not my first language wc: 1168
1:54am
He opens the door at your fifth knock and his jaw clenches at seeing you.
You have a nasty handprint bruise on your neck and he is already fuming, at the bastard who did this, but also at you. Simon´s your ex, and something keep pulling you to him every time you need aid, but never taking him back completely.
This is not the first time you run to him and he is not happy about it.
He lets you in, but curses and slam the door behind him
Coming close he backs you up against the wall, forehead close to yours
"You have to be fuckin jokin´ with me..."
His voice trembles with anger, maybe not the best approach, but he is getting tired of keep collecting your pieces back together
You avoid his gaze, a bit ashamed. You lick your lips, with no urge to start talking. He is not dumb and he already imagined what happened. Tears run down your face and that seems to anger him more.
A bitter scowl etches on his face, he is mad for many of the wrong reasons, but he is trying damn hard to keep himself in check
"Is this some sort of sick game to play with me, hm?" He whispered, voice trembling with anger âYou think I like seeing you like this?â
"No!" You respond quickly, finally meeting his gaze. You felt stupid because he is right to be angry. You´ll accept any scowl and curse coming from him because deep down you know you deserve them.
"Why else would you keep coming back every damn time only for you to go back to him? To test me and see how much I still care for you? Do you get off on doing this? Don´t I have enough shit in my life?"
There it is, the bitter words finally spilling out
"Simon please, I don't have anyone else, pleasâŚ" You yelped when he punched the door, finally backing away from you, running his hands through his hair
"I left him...for good this time..."
He stops pacing and looks at you, he doesn´t believe you, that anger rising up inside of him, why was she still doing this and why he kept letting himself drag back into her? He feels stupid
"I've heard that before"
"I swear to god" Youâre trembling at this point, desperate to get some gentleness.
You showed him the backpack you were carrying, talking in whispers
"I left him the flat, I grabbed what I could and left"
There is a pang on his chest, of guilt this time, the bruise around your neck is prominent and he can't help but to feel like this time is not the same as before. He wants to touch you, to make sure you are okay, but he doesn't trust himself not to hurt you unintentionally because of his anger
"Show me your neck" He finally says through gritted teeth, his tone of voice still stern
Tears start running freely now, but you cry in silence, ashamed. You pulled the hem of the neck of your t-shirt, showing the purplish marks over your throat and clavicle
He curses again before inspecting it more closely
His eyes darken at looking at the bruises, he knows exactly who is to blame and his blood boils with rage, he is going to kill him after dealing with you, he is sure of it. He touches the purple skin gently, barely a feather caress on it, checking them out
"Does it hurt?" His voice a soft whisper now
"Only when I swallow" Hugging your arms around your middle, you look around his flat, avoiding his gaze
He denies with his head, a million thoughts racing through his head. He is still sore for your break up a year and something ago, terribly bitter that you were able to left him for his "violent" line of work and the repercussions that it left on him, but not the bastard treated you like shit. Yes, he was damaged goods, but he´d never lay a finger on you
He has to stop himself from saying something stupid, he shouldn't be this close, feeling so many things at once
"Go have a shower... " he said, walking to the kitchen to pour himself a bourbon
Walking past him with your head low you make a beeline to the bathroom. You know his place very well, and the sting of the good memories here make you cry a bit more
After undressing you hop in the shower, letting the warm water wash away your tears. The smell of his soap envelopes you, making you feel more calm
Simon is a difficult man, the fact that he even let you in after you fucked up so many times says more about his feelings that anything
You reappear at the living room a while after, a dark blue towel covering you. You are pale with dark circles under your eyes, but it´s a better sight than before.
You noticed he got dressed with jeans too, and was smoking by the window when he hears you come back, he can't help it as his eyes travel over you, his own towel around you like you were his again. He has to bite his tongue, to stop himself from making promises and saying a million things he wanted to
"Did you eat?"
"I'm not hungry" You kneeled next to the sofa to grab some clothes from your backpack and he walks to grab a hoodie from the back of a chair, and you catch a glimpse of the hilt of a knife on his waist when he put it on over his head.
He looks immersed with himself, unapproachable
He turns his head to look at you again. Dove eyes, that beautiful face and that ugly bruise⌠God, he is so fuckin tired...
He put out the cigarette in the windowsill and put his gloves on, he does not trust himself right now, this is the reason why he needs to go and put distance between the two of you. Besides, there´s someone he needs to pay a visitâŚ
"Go to sleep... " He said, voice strained
Getting up slowly, you approach him softly, placing your hand on his shoulder
"Why don't you..."
It's a mistake, because he shoves your hand away and strides towards the door, grabbing his mask from the hall table and putting it in his back pocket
"Go to the fuckin bedroom"
He slams the door on his way out, leaving you frozen in place, tears running down your face
-
You´ll find him the next morning, asleep on his couch. His nails are dirty and the hem of his hoodie is darkened with a reddish rusty stain. Next to the door are a couple of boxes with your all your stuff from the flat you shared with your now ex- boyfriend. Seems like Simon moved you into his own place last night.

Insatiable Madness
Diverted-Dimension (Christmas 2024)
|Sagau Yandere Fatui Harbingers x Reader|
Why am I back here again!? Take me back to the canon!
Reader is Gender Neutral!
"Finally!" You cheered, stepping back to admire the Christmas tree in the corner of your living room.
"It looks good." Pantalone commented, looking at all the trinkets placed on the tree. "Although, I believe this gadget would look better placed there... And this bauble, yes, hmm, perhaps on the branch above rather than--"
Y'know, it always takes one person to ruin everyone else's happiness doesn't it? Especially when their name is Pantalone. You rolled your eyes, ignoring his fiddling with what you considered a complete and beautiful tree.
Let's just hope Columbina doesn't see him fiddling with her decorations. For Pantalone's sake, you pray she takes five extra minutes in the bathroom so he can have a safe getaway when he's finished with something he sees as necessary.
Anyway, you've been preparing for Christmas day tomorrow. You wanted to put up the tree earlier, not wanting to leave it this late, however being busy babysitting and making sure all the Harbingers go to work with a happy mood sure takes up a lot of time. Not only does it feel like you're playing a very dangerous version of the Sims, but more importantly, it sucks that when all of them leave you have to entertain the others that don't go to work in the first place.
"It feels like the tree is missing something." Dottore chimed in, standing back with a finger on his bottom lip.
"Please don't say that, The Regrator is already driving himself mad with his own activities." Arlecchino statedÂ
Ignoring those two... They're right, something seems wrong with the tree. But you used everything in the box, what could be missing --
Oh, of course! How could you forget!?
"It's missing an angel on top!" You pointed out, walking over to the Christmas box and rummaging around.
After a while of digging and loud crashing noises consisting of you throwing out whatever you thought could also be added, you found a dusty china angel missing a hand.
"Agh, this won't do." You scolded yourself. "We'll have to go with a star instead. I'll have to cut one out later."
"Cut one out? How are you going to cut a star out of the sky?" Childe asked with a bewildered expression.
"They mean they'll cut one out of paper you damn idiot." Scaramouche glared out of the corner of his eye.
"I often see the Children of the Hearth doing something similar when I pass by..." Signora thought to herself out loud, leaning on one of the arms of the sofa.
"Yes, the children love cutting out different shapes and animals. It just so happens stars are one of the easiest things to make." Arlecchino nodded in agreement.
If it's so damn easy, why don't you do it for me?? You grumbled with an angry grin. It took you a few days to learn how to cut a good looking star out of paper due to your clutzy fingers, how dare they call it 'easy' in front of you!
"Hm? Why do you look angry at me?"
"No reason." You answered her, sharply turning your head away from her tilted one. "Do I even have any paper left? Ugh, I might have to use lined paper and paint it using gold nail varnish if push comes to shove."
"Absolutely not." Sandrone interrupted you. "That sounds messy and unnecessarily more difficult than if you just bought yellow card."
"And where do you propose I get this yellow card? Out of my arse?"
"No." She looked repulsed. "The shop? I saw some in an isle."
"When and why did you go into the corner shop?" You caressed your head, sighing when hearing her solution.
"That's unimportant."
"Sure it is. Anyway, I need to start thinking about how I'm going to cook Christmas dinner--"
"Oh no you don't." Scaramouche interrupted you with a cold voice. "The last time you cooked a genuine meal that didn't include those 'instant noodles', you poisoned everyone who has an organic stomach."
"No way, the Balladeer cares enough about me to not want to see me bedridden again?" Childe gushed with a chuffed smile.
"That's not important!" You raised your voice with flushed cheeks. "How did you know that what I cooked was 'instant' noodles? I never told you that!"
"I asked a staff member in the shop down the street when I saw the exact same package for sale in one of the pasta isles."
"Oh my god, how many of you have been in that damn shop without me!?"
The room stayed silent, some looking away with a cringe whilst others looked at you with unbothered faces.
âDo I count? Iâve never left the house.â Capitano raised his hand innocently.
"Unbelievable." You cried to yourself dramatically.
"I can't believe he's still fiddling." Pulcinella sighed with judging eyes, watching the banker radically move around the tree mumbling to himself like a robot given an impossible task.
"So this is what happens when you don't give him something to do after a long period of time. Lesson learnt." Pierro sweated, coughing into a clenched fist with shut eyes.
"It's not my fault." He turned to the group with hysterical eyes, every so often one twitching. Considering his eyes are always closed, youâre impressed that his mania has managed to do the impossible. "The Decider won't let me do one of the things I'm best at, manipulating an economy. Denying me access to undermining this country's government is making me go mad!"
"What a lunatic." You ignored him, eyeing his antics as nothing more than a regular occurrence at this point.
"So, we're up for cutting a star for the tree then?" You turned back to the group.
"It's your decision and your tree, so of course." Signora shrugged.
"I'm baaaack!~" Columbina burst through the door like a canary, singing with a pep in her step.
She stopped when she saw Pantalone running around the tree, her energy from earlier vanishing as fast as a bird when hearing a gunshot.
"Erm... It's not what it looks like." He turned around slowly, feeling her menacing and dangerous energy piercing his back.
He put his hands in the air, his smile shaking in fear.
"It better not be what it looks like." Her smile contrasted his own. "Because it seems you've been touching something I specifically warned all not to touch.~"
"He's dead, he's actually dead." Childe commented on the sidelines.
"Amen."
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Sandrone left to go get yellow card whilst Columbina forced you to tear down the Christmas tree and start decorating it from scratch. She said it was a punishment for you also, due to letting him rearrange it despite hearing her warning. What bullshit, she just couldn't be bothered to do it again. Anyway, Capitano helped you hold the christmas tree up so you could wrap the tinsel around it without trouble. What a nice guy⌠even though he technically isnât helping you with what counts most.
"I don't understand why we're cutting out stars. Can't we just use me as the angel?" Columbina giggled to herself.
"No, that would be weird." You frowned at her. "What I don't understand is why everyone is cutting stars with me. Didn't the majority of you say this is going to be boring? Do something else!"
"The 'something else' you're talking about was also boring." Scaramouche picked up his pair of scissors, tracing his finger on the sharp side.
âIâd much rather cut something up than count how many particles are in a cloud.â
âWhat does that even mean!?â
âAnyway,â Dottore coughed with an irritated stretching smile. âI propose we make this a competition.â
âOf all the childish suggestionsââ Arlecchino was cut off.
âI agree, I agree!â Columbina nodded with a happy smile. âIt canât be too hard, maybe we should have a reward for who wins the competition?â
âAlthough I find the idea of a competition to be senseless, a reward does sound quite⌠boosting.â Pantalone thought out loud, a greedy smile on his lips.
âThis is not happening.â You sighed to yourself, head planted onto the table with exasperation radiating off of your slumped form.
âBut what reward could we put on offer? Iâm not against competition, heck, I encourage it! But what could we all fight for which would allow us to fight at our strongest the whole time?â Childe leaned against his chair.
The Harbingers thought to themselves, the room erupting in silence with the occasional cough or sniff. All of a sudden, their heads turned and looked at you. Feeling their gazes burning into you, you looked up from the table to see them expectantly eyeing you.
âOhhh no. No way in whatever thoughts youâre all sharing am I getting involved in this. Iâm not becoming some trophy you can flaunt for the rest of the evening.â You denied them.
âBut youâre the perfect solution!â Childe playfully pouted.
âQuit torturing them, Childe.â Signora scolded the young ginger. âI propose this; let whoever wins ask The Decider one question. That question can be related to anything, the future or the past.â
âHmm, but how would we know whether The Decider wouldnât lie to us?â Dottore suggested.
âIâm staying out of this one.â Pulcinella put his hands in the air, leaving the room. âYou youngsters go have fun, Iâll sit this one out.â
âRooster, I would suggest staying to superviââ
âSo you can go back to that dirty office you keep closing yourself in to work? No thank you, I shall handle your paperwork today. You supervise this time.â He gave the director a harsh glare, making sure to purposefully hit him with his walking stick before walking away.
âSometimes I canât tell whether the Rooster is secretly a teenage girl or is just simply strangeâŚâ Pierro muttered to himself. Sighing.
âHow about both, mixed in with the fact that heâs a psycho with more control issues than you think.â
âHm? You think even more than the Regrator?â
âDeffo.â You clicked your tongue. âHe just hides it because heâs a champ like that.â
âDonât change focus!â Scaramouche raised his voice. âI order you to answer me. You will tell the truth to the victor of the contest, no?â
âHold on, didnât we agree to ask our own questions once we deliver them to the Tsaritsa?â Childe questioned.
âThat was just to get you to not hound The Decider back when we first found them.âÂ
âFine.â You agreed with an eye roll, secretly crossing your fingers behind your back like a five year old. Youâll probably just make something up that sounds accurate when the winner asks their question. Youâre betting that Sandrone will win this though, this kind of has something to do with her job after all.
âItâs decided then!â Columbina clapped in delight. âThe Decider and The Director will be our judges. Weâll work for 10 minutes to create a star suitable to be put on the tree, then will be judged to see who has the best!â
âThis is not gonna go wellâŚâ You said, trying your best to cover the shaky smile on your face. This is the best! Youâll just pick someone who wonât ask a question you donât mind answering! Thank you Columbina for giving you this chance.
âYouâre telling me!â Pulcinella shouted from the other room, sarcasm oozing like tar glooping down a slope.
âCount us down, count us down!â Columbina couldnât contain her excitement, her body practically vibrating.
âAlright, alright⌠Ugh, I regret this⌠On your marks, get set, cut!â
âSeriously? âCutâ?â Pierro turned to you.
âWhat was I supposed to say!?â
The Harbingers sat at the table immediately started cutting, the sound of card shredding and small pieces emitting everywhere. Guess whoâs going to have to clean that up? You thought with a frown, watching card pile up in the small crevasses in your carpet.
Looking around at the Harbingerâs cutting paper, you realise one was just sitting there watching the others work.
âUhh, Capitano? Arenât you going to begin?â You asked him.
âNo.â His deep voice answered in return. âI am not going to join this display, no matter how entertaining it will be for you. Firstly, my fingers wonât fit in the holes of the scissors. And secondly, I have no question to ask you so entering just for victory would be pointless.â
âBrother, your fingers canât be that big.â You deadpanned, letting your mind wander a bit too far with the thought.
He simply crossed his arms and continued to watch the others, ignoring you from then on. Oh well, heâs not interfering or arguing back like a child so youâll let it happen. Besides, it looks like he quite likes watching so itâs the least you could do.
Pierro put an arm on your shoulder, getting your attention. You turned to make eye-contact and saw him hesitating in what to say to you.
âDo you need a defibrillator? You look like youâre having a seizure.â
âWho do you think is going to make the best star?â He said after, not registering your insult you said a few seconds prior.
âWow. Did it really take you that long to think of what to say to me?â
âQuiet.â He warned you.
âHmm⌠Who do I think is going to win?â You mumbled out loud, pretending to give it some thought. âScrew it, Iâm not going to pretend. Sandroneâs going to make the best one because she does this kind of thing as a job.â
âHah!â She guffawed after hearing your predictions, continuing her cutting with a content smile.
âBuuuut, thatâs not what makes a star special. It isnât just perfection, but passion and hope. I want to see how unique some people will make it⌠within reason of course.â
âI wasnât expecting such an intelligent reply.â Pierro sweated. âHere I was, ready to scold you.â
âItâs like thatâs all you can ever bloody think about when it comes to me.â You deadpanned.
âYou give me no choice half of the time.â He sighed with a shaking head. âYour choices are often questionable and must be corrected. Would you rather have a physical punishment instead?â
Is this guy nuts?
âNo⌠No, I would not.â
âThat's what I thought.â He turned to look at the competition.
âDecider, help me out here.â Scaramouche clicked his fingers, beckoning you like an old woman would to her juvenile cat.
âDo I look like your pet?â You recoiled in disgust.
âIâll let you leave the house to go to that dumb park you like if you help me right now.â
âIâm on my way!â You ran over to his side, peering down to see the mess of a star heâs created. Itâs not bad at all, itâs actually your style - you like it a lot! What on earth could he need help for?
When you peered down to his design, you felt a cold unnatural hand grasp the side of your head and pull it closer to his face.
âTell me how you like them.â He whispered. âWould you rather me add more detail or remove it? And donât lie to me or Iâll kill you.â
âPierro, The Balladeer is cheating! Heâs bribing The Decider!â Sandrone pushed her chair back and stood up dramatically, pointing her scissors at the offender.
âHey, no fair!â Childe whined. âIf he gets to bribe them, let me bribe them too!â
âIf anyone is to bribe the Decider, it should be me. I am the richest man in Teyvat after all.â Pantalone shrugged whilst lazily cutting.
âCorrection: Ningguang is the richest in terms of all. You only count as the richest when it comes to being a man.â You pointed out. âAnd besides, I would never take your dirty money.â
Piero coughed loudly to quieten everyone down, all in the room turning to him like a deer in headlights. He waited until everyone stopped complaining and then spoke.
âDo continue with your cutting, you have less than a minute left.â He gestured to the timer. âAnd no bribery. The first to test my patience and even attempt to do so will be put under experimentation during the rest of our stay here and our return.â
âOh, by all means, bribe away!â Dottore laughed at the Harbingerâs around him, silently cutting.
Huh? Less than a minute left? But when you last looked at the time they had at least 8 minutes left. You checked the timer once more, and found fat greasy fingerprints on buttons that werenât there prior. You turned to the old man with an incredulous face, mouth wide open. He caught your staring, and put a finger on his lips with a small almost unnoticeable smile.
Pierro, you cheeky bastard. I love you for this.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
The stars were laid out on the dining table, each Harbinger stood behind their own creations. Sadly but also un-sadly, some Harbingers were too slow and couldnât finish their star in time. By some, you mean Pantalone and surprisingly Sandrone.
âIâm not going to hear the end of this.â Sandrone had her face buried in her hands, looking at her creation with malice. âIn defence, I value time to craft perfection. Announcing a set time dampens my methods and results in mechanics such as this one. Ugh, what a waste!â She threw the craft off of the table, the star unravelling itself immediately.
âYeah, yeah, yeah. Of course.â You sarcastically waved at her embarrassment. âAnd you, Pantalone? Whatâs your excuse?â
âThe scissors you gave me were tampered with! I call forââ
âSo Iâm the problem? Okay, whateverâŚâ
You walked down the table, looking at each star neutrally then nodding and moving onto the next. Now, youâre not an expert, but did they really think you wouldnât notice? They all look the exact same! They all look like copied versions of Scaramoucheâs design! When watching him try to bribe you, they must have thought you liked his design the best and copied him to have a fair chance. Well, theyâre wrong! Youâre just going to pick the person who will give you the least trouble when answering their question, jokes on them!
âŚThat was your original plan. After looking at all the stars, you felt a new motivation when noticing one person didnât copy and stuck to their own principles. Also they may or may not be the only person to not take this seriously and you want to mess with the others a little bit. Pierro will agree with you, heâs the type to disregard any copycats so he wonât have trouble with your choice at all.
âOkay, Iâve decided on my winner.â You announced, stepping back to view the expectant Harbingers.
âArlecchino, you win.â
âWHAT!?â
âBut why?â She asked, not looking surprised or pleased. âI could care less about an answer to a question, nor do I care about winning this childish competition.â
âThatâs actually why I picked you. And because your star is an original design - sorry Scara, but uhh, you might have won if the others didnât copy.â
âOf course.â He grumbled, glaring at the Harbingers staring at him. âOne day, Iâm going to murder all of you fools and sell your parts to people far worse than Dottore! Iâll get back at all of you for ruining my chances!â
âAnyway,â You tuned his violent voice out. âYeah, youâre the winner. Pierro, what do you think?â
â...I agree.â He said in a quieter tone. âNow, I will be returning to my office to continue whatâs left of my work⌠and review what The Rooster has already completed.â
As he was walking away, you turned back to notice the majority of Harbingers had walked away to go back to what they were doing prior, bored after realising they wouldn't be able to profit with staying around for longer.
âDo I get to ask my question now?â Arlecchino tapped her elbow impatiently with folded arms.
âSo you do want the reward?â
âDespite it not being my intention when joining, I would indeed like something that was promised. Whether it be an accident or a purposeful decision.â
âOkay, fine. Ask away then.â You shrugged.
âAs you must already be aware, the majority of my Children from the Hearth hail from Fontaine, the nation of justice. I wonât lie to you, Iâm beginning to grow increasingly concerned with the prophecy whereââ
â--where the whole nation will be flooded and all the people will be killed except the archon? Yeah, I know of it. Your point?â You finished her explanation, already having an idea of where the conversation was heading.
âThen you will understand I care deeply about the future of my children. Tell me, will I succeed in convincing the Tsaritsa to visit Fontaine to retrieve the Gnosis in place of Rosalyne?â
âOf course youâd use the question to ask about your âprecious childrenâ.â Scaramouche mocked. âJust how idiotic can you be?? This is your chance to ask about the future!â
You gave a harsh glare with icy eyes in his direction before sighing, a smile on your face. âYeah.â
âHm? You have to give a higher detailed response to that.â
âYou go to Fontaine, Childe coincidentally also there for his own personal motivations which may or may not be important. The whole time youâre there, youâre investigating Furina and the prophecy. Long story short, that I WILL NOT be elaborating, the prophecy is sorted and the people are saved. This includes the children in the House of the Hearth.â You explained, pleased with the question she asked you and your own personal answer. Wow, you can even impress yourself sometimes!
âExcellent.â She sighed in relief, her face unchanging. âThank you. But I do have to ask, is the Hydro Archon really working to prevent the flood?â
âThatâs two questions. But fine,â You shrugged. âYou can trust her. Everything is proceeding to the plan, although interrogation and suspicion do indeed accelerate it to completion.â You thought out loud, noticing her questioning gaze and smiling deeper.
âThatâs enough serious stuff. When are we going to discuss presents? Now that the tree is up we need to put the presents under it!âÂ
âUh⌠Weâre flat-out poor. We canât afford presents.â Childe shrugged. âGuess youâll have to accept my love as a present instead!â
âEw, what are you, five? Wait⌠Donât come over here! Not after saying something like that!â You panicked, watching him run over to you at full speed and choosing to run away.
âScaramouche you know how you said youâd take me to the park? Iâm cashing in that favour right now!â

âMummy, this is the biggest one!â
âIt is, darling. Go ahead.â
You took a sip of your hot chocolate as you watched your five years-old daughter excitedly open her last gift - which was the biggest one under the Christmas tree - in your living room, which soon revealed to be an enchanted dollâs house. Your daughter let out a loud gasp, which made you smile, and as you turned to look at your husband, who was standing against a wall, you could see that, despite trying to hide it, he was smiling too.Â
âThis is the one I wanted!â your daughter exclaimed happily, looking at you both with a great, adorable smile.
âSanta just knows everything, doesnât he!âÂ
You heard your husband chuckle. You put your cup on the table and got up from the couch.Â
âAlright, sweetheart, letâs put all your new toys in your room, shall we?â
You grabbed your wand, agitated it, and a second later, all the toys your daughter unwrapped minutes ago started levitating in the air before going upstairs in her room.
âCan I go play with them, please?â your daughter asks.
âSure thing, darling.â
âYay!â
Your daughter ran upstairs, and you shook your head with fondness.Â
âIâm glad she liked everything,â you turned to your husband.
âWell, âSantaâ just happened to always be on point when it comes to gifts.â
You smiled, but suddenly anxiety came into your body.
âBut did you like yours?â you asked.
It was always tricky to get gifts for Tom, because he would say he didnât âneedâ anything, and the only thing he liked was books - which he bought himself all year. But this year, you decided to take risks and offer him not only books, but also clothes - black or grey, obviously -, some material to take care of his wand, some expensive quills, and a black ring. As he opened every one of them, he commented on the quality of the gift or its appearance, and made sure to kiss you as he said âThank you, darling.â. But despite being with Tom for several years and knowing him for even more, his feelings were sometimes still a mystery to you.Â
His gaze softened, and he approached you, taking your hand in his.Â
âOf course, love. I know Iâm not easy to give gifts to, but trust that I appreciate the thought, and I know and appreciate the effort you made to make sure I liked them.â He hesitated before continuing, âActually, as our child opened her gifts, it made me remember the gift you gave me on Christmas during our first year.âÂ
You raised your eyebrow in disbelief, and suddenly the image of a much smaller and younger version of Tom and you during your first year at Hogwarts came to you. You remembered the nervousness you had felt while giving him your gift, his confusion as he took it and opened it, and his unsure, quiet, yet somehow sincere âThank you.â. You two didnât know it back then, but it was the beginning of something that would only grow.Â
âYou remember it?â you asked.Â
âOf course.â His dark eyes changed, revealing a deeper feeling, and he looked at the ground for a second. âI still have it, and still cherish it.âÂ
You smiled, âIt wasnât much, just something made by an eleven year old to a friend she cared about.â
âIt was the first gift someone ever got me.â
You felt your heart break, just like every time you were reminded of Tomâs lonely, loveless childhood - and all the Christmas he had spent in that orphanage without warmth, love, and people who cared about him.Â
âAnd it wonât be the last,â you smiled teasingly.
âI sure hope so.â
You wrapped your arms around his waist, putting your head on his chest, and he wrapped his own arms around your shoulders.
âYouâll never be alone, you know that?â
âI know.â

nymph [masterlist]
"She's not from here."
Marcus raised his eyes and followed his old friend's gaze. They could see your silhouette between the trees. It was a beautiful, sunny day and you and Melitta were spending it in the garden.Â
The young girl had become your companion, although Marcus had often noticed the embarrassment and delight in her eyes almost simultaneously when she looked at you.
"No, she's not," he confirmed. "But would you believe me if I told you?"
Brutus smiled, the wrinkles around his eyes deepening. "I'm old enough to believe anything." he said. "But please, Marcus. Don't tell me things you should keep to yourself. Here," he pointed to the General's broad chest. "Everything is safer here."
Brutus' gray eyes wandered back to the garden. He had known Marcus when he was a child, his father had been Brutus' friend, and after his death he had surrounded the young man with care. He had never seen a woman in his house before, and he certainly didn't know of any that Acacius would look at in such a way.
"You love her." He said.
He didn't have to ask. He was at an age where certain things were simply obvious to him. Like this.
"I do." Marcus sighed. "More than anything."
"That's good. You can't fight the whole world without someone close to you. But she's not from here. Is she free?"
Marcus's eyebrows drew together. "I didn't take her as a concubine or a slave. She's free, more than any of us."
"Her family?" he saw a shadow in Acacius's gaze. "I see. Don't explain it, Marcus. She shouldn't appear among people without a background. Let's think..."
A warm wind blew through the window, playing with the delicate curtains, carrying with it the sweet scent of flowers. Brutus took a sip of wine and cleared his throat.
"You should say that her parents died when she was still a child. It would be safest." he said, and Marcus fixed his gaze on him, listening carefully. "Later, some distant family member took care of her. It wasn't a significant family. You met and fell in love, simply. Don't mention her origins, don't pay attention to her. Some may gossip about you, but it will quickly die down."
"I'm not afraid of gossip, only of her safety." Acacius replied. "I am the General, and I'm afraid that I won't be able to ensure the safety of the one I love."
Brutus nodded his gray head in understanding. "The gods must be favorable to you if you found each other in this vast world. It's a good sign."
And he really hoped that his friend was right.
A dozen or so days at Marcus' house passed quickly. You didn't find boredom there. Melitta accompanied you every day, slowly becoming a close friend.Â
Antigonus, on the other hand, strived to ensure that all your requests, or at least those that General Acacius agreed to, were fulfilled. So although he sometimes grumbled something under his breath, he let you sit for hours in a room full of maps and writings, which you looked through, and then in the evenings you asked Marcus about them.
His duties to the Emperor and Rome didn't allow him to spend as much time with you as he would have liked, but the thought that he was coming back to you was something that kept him sane.Â
Never before had this house been filled with such conversations and feelings. Never before had he felt as if he was hiding the most precious treasure. You.
"If you knew the true faces of the gods, your eyes would turn white." You said one evening, turning in the sheets. The glow of the candles danced on your bare back, and your hair was in a sweet mess. "All those carvings in the temples, the paintings - poof! - nonsense. None of you have seen the true wrath of Mars or Jupiter. You have not experienced the grace of Venus."
"So what lies next to me if not a gift from Venus?" Marcus asked, leaning down and placing a kiss somewhere between your shoulder blades. "Or Mars? I thought I was the favorite of the gods?"
"Sometimes you are too sure of yourself, General." You replied sarcastically, but you sighed quietly when his hand tightened on your buttock. "The gods have their favorites, but that doesn't mean they can't get bored with them."
"I don't care." His hands grabbed your hips and quickly turned you around, your laughter filling the darkened chamber. "As long as I have you in my hands, I am not afraid of the wrath of the gods. You are my redemption."
A hand tenderly stroked his cheek, fingers slipping into the curly hair among which you could see silver threads. "Don't treat me like one of them, my beloved... I'm not worthy of this."
The brown eyes that were staring at you, however, said something else. Adoration and delight radiated from his insides.
"To me, you are above them all." he replied, spreading your thighs with his hand and placing himself between them. "I want to adore you every day. Praise the day when my eyes saw you for the first time. Fight for you, conquer for you, live for you."
"Marcus..."
His hard cock slid into you without a problem, all the way to the base. Still slippery, full of his seed. You had made love just a moment earlier, like almost every night. Almost, because you also appreciated those moments when you could just fall asleep in each other's arms, feeling the closeness of your bodies, feeling the steady beating of your hearts.
"I will adore and worship you." his voice was low, he whispered to you as if he was praying "Your body is a temple, your sweet moans are songs of praise..." you sighed feeling him move inside you, you tightened your fingers on his strong shoulders "I was a mere mortal when your grace fell upon me. You were the one who decided to stay with me, now I will give you all of myself."
Hot lips kissed your neck as Marcus thrust into you with increasing force. You already knew perfectly well his endless hunger for you, so you gave him what he needed.
Acacius was a generous lover. He gave you pleasure in every way he knew, and you fell apart in his hands, intoxicated by this feeling.Â
You never thought before that bodies could fit together so well, complement each other so much and give each other small deaths, while feeling that they were more alive than ever before.
"I love you..." his hot whisper reached your ears, you wrapped your arms around his neck, slid your hands into his soft hair "More than life, more than anything I know."
He hit exactly that spot, you couldn't say a word, catching your breath. His hot, sweaty body was pressing down on you lightly, but it didn't matter. Soon the pleasure spread through your body, all your senses and heart froze.Â
Marcus felt your delicate walls squeeze his cock, but he didn't stop. His prayers had to be finished. He lifted himself on his shoulders, eyes swept over your sweaty cleavage and breasts, wandering to the place where you were connected. He disappeared inside you a few more times, and then a deep moan escaped his throat as his seed spurted into you, filling you up again.
Tender hands touched his face again, pulling him into a kiss. Soft lips that he never wanted to leave, arms that were supposed to embrace him forever. The woman who was supposed to love him for eternity.
When Marcus told you that morning that you could go out with him and see Rome, your eyes widened with delight. You had been begging him to let you see the city for a long time, although you understood perfectly well why he refused to do so. Every decision had to be thought out, every move planned.
"We'll visit Brutus, it's nothing interesting." he said, but the smile didn't leave his lips when he saw the glint in your eyes.
Melitta had been trying to help you dress for several minutes, but you were so excited that you couldn't stand still.
"My lady." she sighed. "The sun will set before you cross the threshold. Please..."
"I know, I know..." you repeated once again "It's just so, so exciting."
"Rome is beautiful." Melitta draped the material over your shoulder "You'll like it. Although I prefer forests and meadows... Bathed in the morning light, with the grass still covered in dew."
You tightened your fingers lightly on her arm. "I'll take you there, I promise." you said quietly "Soon."
The door creaked and you both jumped as General Acacius appeared before you. Even though he wasn't wearing armor, he still looked dignified. He smiled at the sight of you and nodded towards Melitta.
"Is everything ready?"
"Yes, my lord." she said curtsying.
"You did well." he praised her "You look wonderful, my love. I have something for you."
He took your hand and carefully slid a gold ring with an emerald stone onto your finger. He pressed his lips to your knuckles.
"It's for your safety." He explained seeing your questioning look. "Anyone who sees this ring will know who you..."
"...belong to." You finished for him.
He kissed your hand again and covered it with his. He wanted to avoid saying those words, but at the same time he wanted them. He wanted to know that you were only his.
Your eyes darted from one face to another, from one fruit stand to the beautifully dressed people you saw leaving the building. Conversations, laughter, the sound of horses' hooves, children running around. You had never been in a place like this before.
Marcus was close to you the whole time, observing your every move and gesture, noticing every smile and delight in your eyes. For a moment he regretted that he didn't see it all the same way you did.Â
Years of fighting wars, talking to politicians, worrying about the fate of the country, had made him feel tired and numb. To everything, except you.
"Thank you, beautiful lady! May the gods bless you!" a hoarse voice rang out behind him.
It was only then that he noticed that you had escaped his eyes. Something or someone caught your attention. An older man, in a tattered robe, who was sitting against the wall begging for alms. The closer to the gladiator fights, the more of them appeared in the city, of all ages, sexes, and in various states of health.
Something flashed in the man's dirty hand and Acacius realized that you had given him one of your rings. Not the one he had given you that morning, some other one. He felt a warm surge of affection for you, because he had already forgotten what or who you were before, that you thought differently than those he knew.
A strong hand gently grabbed your arm. "We should go."
You nodded and obediently followed Marcus.
"The Emperor expects your presence during the fights. You should be there." Brutus sat comfortably on a bench under a spreading tree and nodded to the young girl who handed him wine. "There will be no better opportunity for her to go there with you."
"I'm not so sure about that." Marcus replied. "The Emperor, these people..."
"You can't keep her at home forever, Marcus!" the man snorted "I know you want her safety, but someone will notice her soon. Besides, I heard that a few people would be interested in you finally getting married."
Acacius frowned and snorted at the very statement. This topic always appeared when he returned to Rome, that's why he preferred barracks and battlefields, soldiers didn't care about marital status.Â
Besides, marriage for people of his position was rarely connected with deeper feelings. It was about the arrangement, about position, about wealth, about creating a strong family.
Somewhere nearby he heard a familiar quiet laugh and noticed you with Aurelia, Brutus' wife, who was showing you around their house. His friend noticed how the General's face brightened at the sight of you.
"It gives me great joy to see you like this." he said warmly "I don't know what spell this girl has cast on you, but the gods are kind to you, since they allowed your paths to cross."
"I will be grateful to them for the rest of my life." Marcus said. "I feel like I knew her before my eyes first met her."
"Is that possible?"
"I don't know... Maybe it was just a dream." He raised his glass to his lips and took a sip of sweet wine. "So be it. She will accompany me there." Brutus patted him on the shoulder happily. "You're right. There will be no better time, and I don't want to risk it."
"We will be there too. But warn her, Marcus. A viper's nest is a terrible place for beautiful creatures like her."
Acacius nodded. A strange fear filled his heart, but when he heard your footsteps, when he felt a familiar hand on his shoulder, it all flew away with the wind.
Something strange woke you up at night. For a moment you tried to understand what it was. Marcus was sleeping quietly next to you, his arm around your waist, his body as hot as the sun close to yours.Â
You felt it again. The scent that woke you up, so familiar.
Sage and other herbs, burning somewhere outside the window, in a garden immersed in darkness. You quietly and carefully got out of bed and threw thin robes over your naked body. The window was open and the gentle wind must have unconsciously brought the delicate smoke into the room.
You strained your eyes to see in the darkness the person who was not only burning herbs, but also...Â
Yes, you knew the words to this prayer. You had heard it several times in one of the temples, but not in the temple dedicated to Minerva. These were words addressed to Venus, and they were whispered quietly by someone you knew so well.Â
A prayer filled with regret, interwoven with quiet sobbingâŚ

And In The Darkness Bind Them (Sauron/F!Reader)
A series of vignettes (smutty and angsty) chronicling S2 Rings of Power
Sequel to Homecoming // AO3 Link
Soundtrack: Beautiful Things by Benson Boone, Replay by Lady Gaga, Hands of Gold by Peter Hollens (kudos to @missjadesfics for this one)
Warnings: 18+ only!! Little bit of fluff, mostly smut and angst! Sometimes together!! P in V sex, oral (female receiving), fingering, possessiveness/toxic relationship, overstimulation, public sex/exhibitionism, dom!Sauron (I know smh, what am I doing??), carry-fucking (y'all I am cooking here, like he is basically a god so no matter how light or heavy you are, he can definitely pick you up and fuck you stupid okay), cumplay (idk how to describe it any other way), praise/condescending/degradation (it's a wild ride lmao), so much angst, very (!!) dubious consent towards the end (sorry, Sauron really leaning into his villain era now)
A/N: Reader is mad in love with our boy in this one but uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well good luck guys idk
rather than a bunch of actual chapters, I've written a few vignettes for S2 Rings of Power (maybe I'll go back and expand on them later), starting near the start where Sauron is more Annatar, finishing at the end where he is ... very much himself. Some of the smut gets very dark, please take note of the tags!!
Word Count: 7.8k!! Wildly out of hand
The morning after Annatar climbs into your bed, you are momentarily confused to see long golden hair on the pillow next to you. Then you remember that Halbrand is no more.
âGood morning, love.â He props himself up on one arm, disentangling himself from your embrace.
You cannot help but stare at him a moment; this ethereal creature in front of you cannot be yours.
âIs it really you?â You ask him, eyes sparkling and fingers trailing over his high cheekbones, his broad firm chest, his sculpted lips.
âAlways, darling.â He pulls you close, kissing your forehead.
He always smells the same, like salt and iron, smoke and musk. If your souls were to no longer recognise each other, you swear you could follow your nose to find him.
âYou left so suddenly, I didnât get to say goodbye.â You murmur into his chest, fingers entwined in his golden hair.
âIâm sorry, love, circumstances arose, I had matters to take care of, but Iâm here now.â
He had set his plans in motion in Mordor, and waited for Galadriel to leave Eregion. He had a feeling that she would have told no-one there who he really was, her ego bruised and pride bleeding. He only had to wait for you to let him in. And with a little pleading, you had managed to convince Celebrimbor to open his gates.
âWe should talk, properly, about what happened, the last time we saw each other. At Forodwaith.â You stutter and trip over your words, nervous to bring up the subject, but it has weighed heavily on your mind.
He sighs, running his fingers up and down your arm, unhurried and unphased.
Of course you had been angry with him when youâd found out about his plans to become Morgothâs successor, and you stood by that anger. But knowing you had left him to die, to mourn the loss of your husband for centuries, your mind screamed at you to make it right, whatever you had to say.
âSome of the things I said wereâŚunkind-â
âCruel.â He interjects with a smirk; you purse your lips playfully and continue.
âBut so were your deeds, and I have forgiven you. Mostly. So perhaps you should do me the same courtesy,â you twirl a strand of his hair around your finger as you prop yourself up to search his gaze, âsince we are⌠what are we again? Oh yesâŚâ
You lean in and whisper in his ear, âBound in flesh and soul.â
His smile this time is dangerous, threatening, promising.
âAnd to think, if I were not so ravenous in my lust for you-â he grasps your wrists, pins them to the headboard with one hand and wraps his other arm around you, nose in your hair as he breathes in deeply.
â-I might have spared myself this torment.â He grins into your neck as you try to catch his lips with yours. âNot that I would have it any other way.â
He bends his neck and kisses you softly, releasing you just enough to throw your arms around his neck, through his silky golden hair, pulling him closer.
The dread that had dogged you for centuries is gone. There is no such thing as chance, and he is sure that you were supposed to leave him, whatever the reason, to save you from the same evil fate he suffered. After a millennium as primordial ooze, he canât bring himself to care, only grateful to have you in his arms again.
~
Celebrimbor had been rather taken aback when Annatar had walked into his forge with you on his arm. You had been a close friend for many years, having visited his city many times, even reinforced the defences with the ancient magic youâd learned from your lost kin. He knew you were married but had never met your lord husband; no one could have guessed he was an emissary of the Valar.
Indeed you were surprised by his cover story too, but dismissed it as your husband wanting to make the best impression as you introduced him to the world.
âDo they really need to know?â He had asked you one night, holding you close as the rest of the world slept.
âWhat do you mean, love? Oh, that youâre mine? Yes, absolutely, they must. If I donât stake my claim now, all of Eregionâs eligible maidens will be vying for your hand, and I cannot possibly entertain a rival for your affections.â Your tone is light, your words spoken in jest, but he sees in you the same dark possessive streak that runs so deeply within him, and his heart canât help but reach out for yours, dark tendrils of his power wrapping around you.
âHow could I look at another soul the way I look at you? You are the other half of me, the reason my heart still beats. No one compares to my wife, and I would reduce anyone who argued otherwise to dust.â
You laugh a little, burying your face in his side, but he needs you to know just how serious he is, cupping and lifting your chin to hold your gaze.
âMy love, if the sun were too bright or the moon offensive to your eyes or the stars were to outshine your radiance, I would tear it all down for you. Everything I do is for the love of you.â He means it, in his own way, and you know it, a thrill shooting through you, ending in butterflies in the pit of your stomach.
It amazes you that even after the eons youâve loved each other, you still feel the same flutters of excitement you did when you first set eyes on him in that golden glade, millenia ago.
The trials you have endured only sweeten the moments of contentment, making you all the more grateful to hold each other.
~
He has a job to do, a forge to supervise, and rings to create. But with you in his arms and a gentle breeze cooling you both in the burgeoning warmth of spring, he could be persuaded to stay abed a little longer.
âStay with me today.â You murmur into his chest, unwilling to let him go.
Itâs as if you could hear his thoughts as he could hear yours.
He chuckles fondly, stroking your hair, considering the vaguest possibility of letting Celebrimbor work unattended for today. Surely one day couldnât hurt?
âI have to oversee the rings, my love, their progress is precious in every sense of the word,â he says as he traces your arm, rubbing slow circles into your skin with his thumb.
You grumble with indignation, nestling closer to his side as if to keep him there with the sheer magnetism of your presence. He squeezes your arm softly before resting his chin on the top of your head.
âOne day with my husband. Is that too much to ask?â Your tone is still a little petulant, but he canât help but smile fondly at your yearning for him; after all, it is returned a hundredfold.
âYour husband is an emissary of the Valar, he has⌠important duties, what are you doing?â
You give him a mischievous smile, running your foot up and down his leg, hand reaching between his thighs.
âI am simply showing my husband what he is missing when he attends to these important duties, more important than keeping his wife satisfied, apparently.â Your smile grows wider as his eyes grow dark, pupils blowing wide as your hand finds its prize, his cock already half hard simply from lying next to you all morning, breathing you in.
âAre you implying I do not keep you satisfied, my lady? Oh, that simply will not doâŚâ he growls, rolling you over and caging you beneath his iron frame.
You look up at him through your lashes, your breath hitching as arousal pools in your core and drips down your thighs.
The dark glint in his eye only intensifies as he catches the scent of you, needy for his touch, as he dips his fingers between your thighs, delicately tracing your entrance as you shiver beneath him.
His hard length juts against your hip as he greedily swallows your moans, not sated until he has wrung every note of pleasure from you. His tongue doesnât need to fight for dominance in your mouth; he already has it, and you let him take whatever he needs from you.
His thrusts are lazy, languid, now that his plans for the day no longer involve leaving your bed, meaning to take his sweet time with you.
His index and middle fingers circle your entrance, dipping in and out, thrusting deeper each time until he is knuckle-deep inside you. He hooks his fingers in a come hither motion, watching your face soften through hooded eyes as he strokes the sweetest spot inside you. Your body shakes under his ministrations as you clench around his fingers, seemingly unwilling to let him part from you in any way, shape, or form.
He kisses the tip of your nose before drawing back to take you in, spread out underneath him, hair across the pillow, lips parted and panting, eyes glassy with pleasure. Heâd never tire of this sight.
When he first saw you, Sauron never thought he would end up here, with you so willingly his. His to hold close and torment with his loving words, torture with his lingering touch, to soothe with the lies that drip so easily from his tongue.
He covets you even when he has you pressed to him skin to skin, craves you even when he canât breathe for his tongue inside you, wants to wrap himself around you when he can feel your soul entwined with his.
You are his, and today of all days, it is overwhelming him completely.
âSo good for me, opening under my touch, I know what you need, darling, I have you, just let go.â He murmurs in your ear, aching for your release as much as his own; after all, they are the same thing.
He lowers himself to press his body against yours, needing to feel every inch of you against him, cunt clenching around his fingers as you give him your pleasure. You whine and pant against his neck as he refuses to give you a momentâs respite, stroking your inner walls, grinding his palm against your clit.
You shake through your orgasm, riding out your high on his fingers which relentlessly wring out every drop of pleasure from your body, until youâre breathless, pleasantly warm and tingly all over, and totally exhausted.
âSo beautiful, my darling wife, wrung out and ruined for me. Is there a single thought in that pretty mind?â He canât help but gaze at you fondly, slicked with sweat and writhing under his fingers.
Until this moment, he has had no thought of his own pleasure. Now he feels his cock ache to be inside you, and he rolls his hips against yours, sliding his cock between your thighs and rutting against your soft skin, his precum and your wetness soaking your thighs, easing his way. With every roll of his hips his cock grinds against your clit, rubbing against your lips, making you want him inside you where he belongs.
He throws his head back with a gasp, his golden hair falling over his shoulder, as the morning sun illuminates him from behind. You wonder, how could this ethereal being be yours? Giving into his carnal desires and binding himself to a mortal form for the love of you. It is too much to ponder, and you pull him down to your lips, desperate to taste him once more.
As you pull him down, he adjusts himself, teasing you with the promise of filling you up. He chuckles in your ear when you moan at the feeling of him thrusting deep inside you, his bare skin sliding against yours, as he makes himself at home between your thighs.
He slides his hand between you, his index and middle fingers parted to frame your clit as he rubs your cunt, occasionally tracing the swollen nub that begs for his attention. The whimpers that escape your lips only urge him to tease you further, forcing you to arch into his touch, chasing any semblance of release.
Your hips ache as you thrust to meet his hand, fighting the rolling of his hips as he takes what he wants from you. His cock driving into your wet heat, his hand between you teasing and caressing your clit, his forehead against yours as he holds himself over you with his free hand.
Before long, he feels his orgasm approach, too soon, but perhaps not for you, as you beg him to let you come, and how could he deny you when you plead so sweetly?
Not that he could ever deny any request made from your lips.
He pulls you close, torso to torso, and kisses you hard, a hungry clash of lips and tongues and teeth that leaves you both breathless, greedily swallowing your moans as if they were all he needed to survive.
It feels like a revelation every time, and this occasion is no different. When you both finally come down from the pleasurable peak he'd dragged you to, you still feel like you're floating, clinging to him just to stay grounded.
As you both lie there in your cozy bed, panting and nestling close, his large frame fitting around you so completely, he smoothes back flyaway tendrils of your hair from your face and regards you with a strange look, something akin to fondness but more hungry, more desperate, more obsessive.
As your breathing slows and you return to the mortal plain, you look up at him and smile.
âSo. About today. I could show you the city? You havenât seen beyond the forge, my love, and while it is no Gondolin, it has its charms, weâve built something beautiful here. I want you to see it.â Your eyes sparkle at the idea of showing Sauron around your city, and he cannot help but give in, even as he wants to stay here with you as long as possible.
âThen I must let our friend know he shall have to do the work of the Valar himself today.â He chuckles, brushing his nose against yours.
~
Hand in hand with your husband, you cannot help but feel at peace as you stroll through the streets of Eregion.
Musicians fill the air with song, lively market stalls line the streets, and children run and play amongst the revellers.
Your fellow Elves are still a little in awe of him, the crowds parting as you make your way through the city.
âDo you never tire of this?â You ask, a blush creeping up your neck, gesturing at the people nodding and bowing and staring as he walks past with you.
His derisive snort should tell you everything you need to know as he smirks, casting a glance at you, squeezing your hand to soothe your discomfort. You were so used to serving the people of Eregion, that this sudden change in treatment was unsettling. You appreciated thanks for your work, but anything beyond that was too much; this nigh-worship was almost unbearable.
Sauron, however, was flourishing.
âIt is what we deserve, my love, to be revered. We are more than them, after all.â He has always enjoyed your attentions, your worship, but he cannot deny that this satisfies his need to rule in a way that your love alone cannot touch.
âYou might be, love, but I am merely one of them. So it feels strangeâŚâ You trail off as you regard him closely, noticing just how at ease he seems to be.
âLetâs go back.â You fight the growing dread in the pit of your stomach, wishing that you had just stayed in bed with him instead.
âAre you quite alright, love?â He turns to you, searching your gaze, only now noticing your concern.
âYes, fine, darling, I just,â you search for an excuse, any excuse, âIâm just tired. Perhaps a lie down will do the trick, if you would join me?â
A flicker of irritation crosses his face; he might as well have gone to the forge today, if you were going to cut short your trip into the city.
âI might see how Lord Celebrimbor is coming along with the rings, and let you rest.â He gives you a smile but it doesnât quite reach his eyes, and your stomach flips.
âOf course, love, Iâll see you later then.â
He presses a kiss to your knuckles before disappearing into the crowd, a strange sense of trepidation filling you as he leaves.
You know him well enough, unfortunately, that you can immediately sense when he is up to something; an itching in the back of your mind and a dull ache in your heart. Nefarious or not, you have to know what it is.
~
You peer through the door, ajar enough to see your husband in his leather apron sitting at Celebrimborâs work bench, the forge otherwise empty. He is hard at work, his back to the door, and you can't tell what is consuming all of his attention. Most of his attention.
"Love, why do you linger at the door?" He asks, raising his head and smirking, before turning and leaning with an arm over the back of the chair, beckoning you to him.
You smile hesitantly, fingers fidgeting with the sleeve of your dress as you open the door and cross the room.
He pats his thigh, taking your hand and guiding you to sit in his lap as you wrap your arms around his neck. Leaning forward to nuzzle his nose in your neck, he soaks you up, breathing in your scent and relishing the feeling of you so close. Your anxiety melts, the knots in your stomach untying themselves.
"Are you feeling better, love?" He murmurs, breaking the comfortable silence.
"Yes, much." It is not a lie; simply being with him in his natural habitat soothes your nerves.
He hums in acknowledgement, nose still at your throat, the deep vibration rippling through you.
"I hate to worry about you, darling," he remarks as he brushes his fingers through your hair.
"You'll never have to." You reply softly, drawing back to meet his gaze, so intense, so focused on taking you in.
He smiles wide, his eyes creasing just how you love, a genuine expression that has become more and more rare as his stay in Eregion has gone on. It warms your heart and makes you reach for him once more, planting your lips on his, Sauron making an undignified "hmph" in surprised response.
He could stay there forever in your arms, kissing you softly and languidly, letting himself melt into you. But the reason for his visit to the forge today sits on the bench behind you both, and he cannot forget it.
"I have a gift for you." He pulls away to reach for something on the bench behind you.
âA gift, my love? You are gift enough, I need nothing from you.â You laugh, heat flushing your cheeks as your husband takes your hand.
âHow can I call myself the Lord of Gifts if I cannot even gift my wife a small trinket for her devotion?â He teases you fondly, his broad smile reaching his eyes, making them crinkle at the corners in the way that makes you want to kiss every crease and wrinkle from his face just to make them multiply a hundredfold.
âClose your eyes, love,â he tells you, still holding your hand with his other hand behind his back.
You do so with a dramatic sigh, grinning and rolling your eyes.
You feel him slip something cool and smooth onto your finger, and you feel a rush of his power through you that you have not felt in such a long time. You can feel it course through your veins, the towering inferno that is your husbandâs will, his might and determination in one tiny object.
âOpen.â He commands you, his excitement unmistakable.
A slim golden band graces your finger, radiating your husbandâs power. There is something about it, something that makes you never want to take it off.
âDo you like it? Say something,â he laughs nervously, eager to hear your thoughts.
âIt is⌠quite something, my love. Beautiful.â You canât stop staring at it, the plain golden ring catching the light and throwing off an inner radiance that captivates you.
His face lights up, a wide smile brightening his handsome features as he takes your hand in his once more.
âI wanted to forge us something worthy of our bond. Something to strengthen us, to fortify what we have. To bind us together.â He looks into your eyes hopefully, yearning for the eternal life together that youâve been denied thus far.
âIt is⌠precious, my love. And if it works, you shall never be rid of me.â You clasp his hand in yours, resting your forehead on his, breathing him in.
âI shall forge one of my own, but yours was more pressing. They shall be a pair when I am done.â
You cannot help but smile fondly at him; thinking of you before himself.
âThank you, love, I shall never take it off.â
You raise your hand to admire his handiwork, always in such awe of his talents, and notice him eyeing you hungrily.
"Are you quite alright, darling?" You tease him, as he leans over you, a large hand tracing your neck, pushing your hair back over your shoulder.
âI need you,â he murmurs, kissing your neck as he presses you against Celebrimborâs workbench.
âNot here, love, letâs go home,â you try to push him off, laughing but the thought of being discovered like this in the forge, where anyone could find you, sends a shiver down your spine and your stomach unexpectedly flutters.
âNo. Right here.â He runs his hands over your curves, ravenous for what only you can provide him. âRight now. I have to have you.â
He rucks up your skirts, lifting you by your hips onto the bench behind you, baring you to his lustful gaze, and to anyone else who could walk in.
âIs the door locked at least?â You ask him, your stomach still tying itself in knots.
âOf course, love, do you think I want anyone bearing witness to the mere sight of you like this? You are mine, and mine alone.â He growls, deep in his chest, as he grips your thighs, digging into the soft flesh with his fingernails, leaving red crescent marks to mark you as his.
He canât resist the sight of your wet cunt, has to taste you, flexing his tongue to delve into your entrance as he plays with your swollen clit. He pulls you closer, throwing your legs over his shoulders, gripping your ass to keep your cunt against his face.
You canât help but roll your hips, begging him for more, riding his face, taking full advantage of the fact that with his regained strength, Sauron doesnât actually need to breathe.
His iron grip keeps you pinned against him as you arch your back and moan breathily for anyone who might be passing to hear.
He senses your orgasm approaching, and thrusts two long deft fingers inside your cunt, stroking your walls as he laps at your clit. Your body quakes as you give yourself to him, your peak crashing over you with no respite, Sauron drawing every ounce of pleasure he can from your aching cunt with a delicious gleam in his eye.
Finally he gives you some kind of reprieve, drawing back to admire his handiwork.
He wipes his chin with the back of his hand, smirking as he pulls himself up to meet your lips. You can taste yourself on him as he kisses you hard, teeth dragging on your bottom lip, hands kneading greedily at your thighs.
"Are you ready for me, love? Always ready for me, aren't you, always so good..." he gasps in your ear as he slams his cock inside you in one solid thrust, rolling his hips and relishing in the feeling of you, tight and hot around him.
He thinks he hears footsteps on the stairs. He slows his pace just a fraction to listen, not that you seem to notice.
The door swings open a little, but whoever it is does not immediately enter, startled by the noises coming from inside the forge.
Thankfully your back is to the door, and one glare from Sauron sends the smith at the door running back down the stairs, leaving the door ajar. He rolls his eyes and smirks against your lips, crashing his lips into yours with renewed vigour, bucking his hips and slamming his cock deep inside you.
The thought of the world having borne witness to the love you share, it sends him wild and obliterates any sane thought from his mind, the only notion in his head to ravage you senseless.
"So good for me, such a good girl," he murmurs as he takes you in your exhausted glory, your limbs shaking and your cunt quivering.
He leans down to take your nipple in his mouth, mouthing at your tender flesh before nipping with his sharp teeth, a loud moan escaping your throat.
Working his way up to your neck, he lavishes your bare skin with his tongue, sucking hard on the sensitive skin of your throat, making sure to leave a bruise no one will miss.
You whimper as he slips his cock from inside you, marvelling at the state of you, dripping with his cum.
"Always so appreciative, aren't you darling? Always so giving, so grateful to receive whatever I give you. And you've given me everything-"
He picks you up, your arms clinging to his neck as you instinctively wrap your legs around his hips.
"-but you can give me so much more."
He slams his cock inside you again, letting gravity do its work as you're stretched to your limit, moaning as he angles his hips just right so you see stars on every thrust.
"Oh, darling, is that too much?" He mocks you fondly before swallowing your whines, stealing the breath from your lungs in his need, no, greed for you.
With you balanced in his large hands, his muscles flexing with every thrust, he bounces you on his cock like you weigh nothing, as if you were merely a plaything for him to use and spoil and defile. His, and his alone.
He can't get enough of you, of the sight of you ruined and writhing at his touch, desperate for more even as he wrings another orgasm from your overstimulated cunt.
His own peak crashes into him like a wave on the shore, pulsing inside you as your walls clench around him.
"I love you, I love you, love you, love you..." he gasps over and over into your neck, shuddering against you as he leans you back against Celebrimborâs work bench.
You can do nothing but kiss him, words beyond you, your tongue capable of nothing but kissing your husband.
"So good for me, beautiful girl, so good..." he murmurs softly into your neck as his cock twitches inside you, his seed dripping down your inner thighs.
When your legs stop shaking, he lets you stand, still leaning on him. He combs through your hair with his fingers, tucking it behind your ears. Then he glances down at the mess he's left between your legs and smirks.
"Leave it."
You raise an eyebrow at him, already reaching to clean yourself up before you leave the forge.
"I'll be home soon. I'll do it myself."
You finally realise what he's saying and squirm at the idea of trying to walk home in the state you're in. Defiled in all the ways that count. But the glint in his eye warns you not to argue.
True to his word, he arrives home not long after you, so you don't wait too long for his tongue to clean up the mess he made.
~
There are warning signs. You missed most, if not all of them. Or wilfully ignored them.
But when the siege horns blare, in your heart of hearts, you know it is Sauronâs doing.
The first place you think to find him is the forge, but instead you find Celebrimbor hunched over his bench, painstakingly at work.
"My lord? Do you not hear the horns? We need to leave!" You try to take his arm to hoist him to his feet, but he shudders and throws you off.
He catches you off balance and you stumble, throwing an arm out to steady yourself.
To your surprise, a large warm hand takes yours and keeps you upright.
"I told you not to come here, love." Sauron remarks, his tone eerily neutral, as if you haven't just stumbled into a nightmare.
"I was... I was looking for you." You mutter, still watching Celebrimbor, concerned for his state of mind as he rambles about mice and candles.
"I told you to stay at home where you'd be safe. Was that simple instruction so beyond you?"
Your head snaps toward him as the sharp knife of his words pierces you between the ribs.
A flurry of questions and indignant remarks fills your head but you merely stare at him, mouth agape, as he disregards you, stepping to the bench to inspect his precious rings.
"How much longer?" His impatience has always been dangerous, but it is in this moment you realise just how so.
"Soon... just the final touches, they are nearly complete." Celebrimbor flinches as Sauron places the ring back on the bench and takes his shoulder in hand.
"Do you hear that? I kept the storm at bay but you chose to peel back the curtain. Your city is falling, but the sooner you deliver the rings, the more of your city you save. Do not fail them."
He takes your hand and leads you out of sight, pushing you up against a wall. His large hand wraps around your neck with such ease, it startles you, and you can do nothing but whimper against him.
"I told you not to come here." He whispers in your ear, hot breath tickling your neck.
"I'm sorry-" you gasp as his thumb constricts a little around your throat, "Needed to know you were safe."
He loosens his grip and smiles fondly at you, though not quite letting it reach his eyes, as your hearts pound in unison.
"Oh darling. Aren't you just perfect?" Then he kisses you hard, before turning you around, pressing your face against the cold hard stone.
Your stomach drops as you realise what he's planning. Surely not, not as the city crumbles around you and the Lord of Eregion sits mere feet away?
"Love, no, not now-"
He enters you with a practised touch, knowing exactly how he has to please you to ease his way in. Your body betrays you as he fucks you without mercy, taking his pleasure from your needy moans and wanton gasps as you succumb to the feeling of him drilling into you from behind.
This is new, as usually he delights in studying your face for every microexpression, taking you in as he ravages you. Now it is solely about what he can take from you, the only thought in his head to come as quickly as inhumanly possible.
It leaves you breathless and panting, and when he peaks, you find yourself grinding into him to try and find some kind of release too.
He chuckles in your ear, thrusting his hand between your thighs.
"What's that, love? Weren't you saying no? Do you want me to let you come? Oh you do? You're lucky that your pleasure is mine, or I might not be so giving..."
His words fade to nothing as your ears ring with siege horns and explosions and the mind-bending sensation of orgasming around Sauronâs cock, even as you know what his plans have wrought.
~
âIâm so sorry, Iâm so sorry,â you murmur over and over, holding the Lord of Eregion in your lap, trying to heal his wounds well enough that he can finish his work.
The wounds inflicted by the man you call husband in a moment of cruel impatience.
âAmariĂŤ, I need him to work, the rings-â
â-will be finished when he can stand. A momentâs peace, for pityâs sake.â You interrupt your husband, turning to look at him to find no pity in his eyes, only jealous rage.
âLet me work, so he can work. This is your doing after all, you should know it will take time.â
Your tone wounds him, the acid in your words corroding his black heart, but he cannot let himself pause in the pursuit of his goal, not when the rings for Men are within such tantalisingly close reach.
The melody you sing over Celebrimbor to knit his flesh eventually soothes his pain and stems the bleeding enough that soon he is sat at his workbench, still wincing, but for your sake, presses on with finishing the rings.
âWatch him, Iâll be back shortly.â Never has Sauron spoken so abruptly with you, and after everything youâve witnessed today, youâre loath to let him leave with no rebuke.
âAfter everything He did to you, you would inflict the same torture on someone who has only shown you kindness?â
He glares down at you, only the tiniest furrow of his brow giving anything away about his current train of thought.
"It is⌠necessary. If he had done what Iâd asked, I wouldnât have been forced to-"
"Absolutely not. Do not do this. Do not blame him for what you have done. That is exactly what Morgoth did to you, what I nursed you through, so donât try that with me." Youâve never been stern with him before so youâre not sure how he will take it, and frankly neither is he.
âThis is not you!â
âBut it is me.â He leans in to whisper in your ear. âYou just havenât been paying attention.â
Your stomach drops as he smirks, stalking down the stairs. He looks back up at you a moment.
âDo not let him leave.â His tone cuts you like a knife, and when the door swings closed, you crumble to the floor, head in your arms.
~
"How long have you known?" Galadriel can barely look at you as your tears blind you.
It takes you a long time to answer.
"Too long. I thought he had changed! At first I thought him dead, then he came back so different, I wanted-"
"You wanted your husband." She looks you in the eye, and once again, you feel a wave of nausea overwhelm you.
âIt is a twisted, evil fate, that I would take back in a heartbeat, but there is no earthly force that can break us apart. Believe me, Iâve tried.â Your voice breaks and Galadriel cannot help but embrace you; she knows how heavy the bond between couples is, and knows that to try to undo it is a foolâs errand.
âI just want to come home.â You sob into her shoulder, heart breaking for her that she must be the one to comfort you, after all your husband has done to hurt her and her family, and what he has done to your city.
"Are you with me?" She asks, hands on your shoulders as you pull away.
You don't even have to think. Your broken heart speaks for you.
"Whatever it takes."
~
You find him on a cliff's edge, surrounded by orcs that bow and simper as you pass.
"I knew you'd come." He greets you, though he doesn't turn from looking down over the cliff, as if his eye is trained on something no mortal being could see.
"Predictable as always." You quip, but your anger bleeds through and the edge in your voice finally makes him face you.
"You're upset-"
"Oh, really?" You interrupt him with a snort.
"I tried to save Eregion, but Adar-"
"Oh no, don't do that, we both know that was your plan all along. You have always played the long game, don't doubt your abilities now, dear husband."
He smirks, stepping closer, taking your hands in his.
âTell me the truth, please, just for once.â Your anger and your grief battle for dominance, and even now he feels a tiny pang of guilt.
âYou have always known my purpose, my love-â
You interrupt him with your fists, so angry with him now that words fail you. He holds your wrists calmly, impassively, speaking over your outburst as if it had not happened, as if you were merely taking tea on your balcony.
âYou have always known that Middle Earth is sick, that it needs healing, and who better than I to do so? I alone have the power and the will to remake this land, and you, my Queen, you will help me fix this broken world.â He is so sincere, smiling down at you as if it is already decided.
You try to pull away, shaking your head and fighting his every movement to keep you in his arms.
âI will not. I cannot, Mairon, I wonât.â You catch yourself and gasp. âEven now, even now I call you by the name you do not deserve.â
The tic in his jaw is back, and he inclines his head slightly, daring you to continue, warning you not to.
âDo you want to hear me say it? The name my kin gave you eons ago? The name you swore was dead and buried, along with your designs to rule the world?â
âYou make it sound so inelegant, ârule the worldâ, is it my fault that the peoples of Middle Earth need uniting under a strong leader, one who will bring them the order and balance they so desire?â He is still using that calm, condescending tone that drives you mad, that once soothed you but now feels like fingernails under your skin.
âIs it balance if it is by force? You cannot trick them into acceptance, Mairon.â You know that to reason with him is folly, but you have to try, against all odds, to make him see reason in his madness.
âYou want to be worshipped as a god.â You whisper, unable to believe this is the man you married, that you loved. Love. Love, still, as you rail against the feeling, hopeless to break it.
âAnd you, my goddess. It is as it should be, the right way of things, the people need order, and we can give it to them. You and I.â He traces your face softly, making you shiver. âOnly us.â
You fight to break free of his embrace, hands on his chest, but youâre damned if he will let you go, his grip like the iron crown he wishes to place on your head.
"There is no 'usâ. Not anymore. There can be no "us", for as long as you are unrepentant, I cannot bear to look upon you." The words taste acrid in your mouth, betraying every feeling still plaguing you deep in your soul.
His face twists, biting back every poisonous word he wishes to fling at you.
"You want to heal Middle Earth? How can one so broken know anything of healing?"
Despite your venom, and the wrenching in your souls, he tenderly holds your chin, upturning your face to him; even now you know exactly who he is, his radiance blinds you. Every heartbeat, every slow exhale, it all seems to stop, as you study his face for what you hope is the last time.
âWhat makes it worse, what really hurts,â your voice is unsteady, betraying the maelstrom in your heart, âis that in another life, another time, we could have been really happy.â The dam breaks and you cannot help but let a hot tear fall, willing the rest to remain unshed until you are alone.
âWerenât we?â He seems genuinely confused, crushed even, voice thick with all the things he wants to say, all the things he knows would break you.
The hard expression youâve worked so hard to maintain cracks; yes, you were, you were so blissfully happy, in those golden days where it was just the two of you, no war, no suffering, just two lovers meeting.
âDo not make me say it,â you choke out, tears now falling freely; gods, you had been so happy, and you wish with all your might to be taken back to those days in your loverâs arms, all tender kisses and warm embraces.
Even in your absolute sorrow, he cannot help but claim you one last time, pressing his lips to yours like you are his last meal on this mortal plain. Unwilling in spirit, but your body melts into him, desperate to forget for just a second before you turn your back on him forever. You can feel the ebb and flow of your souls crackling and churning around you, becoming palpable in the very air you breathe.
You break away first, hesitant to allow this moment to end. But it must.
âDo not go where I cannot follow.â He murmurs into the hollow of your throat, as he grips your hair and pulls your head back. With a heavy sigh you press your lips to his forehead, and back away, his fingers trailing yours as you part.
âYou can follow, any time you wish.â Your voice breaks, as does your heart, clean in two, as you turn your back and leave him on that accursed precipice.
The golden ring on your finger seems almost to pulsate with heat; indeed you had quite forgotten it was there. You raise your hand to inspect it, tiny engraved letters filling the band that you had never seen before.
You could feel Sauronâs power in the ring, its binding magic pulling your heart back to the comfort of his embrace.
âRead it.â His voice behind you is hard but pleading, wrenching your heart.
The script on the ring burns red like coals on the fire as you hold it up, trying to make out what he engraved there.
Two Rings to bind what Evil tried to rend,
Two Rings for a King and Queen, their bond none can transcend,
Two Rings to rule them all, a power with no end
A tiny part of you is touched that he poured so much of himself into a ring meant to soften Morgothâs curse upon the pair of you. The rest of you is incensed that he would use your love to satisfy his craving for power.
âYou simply cannot resist, can you?â Your voice shakes with anger as you turn back to face him, his face falling as he realises that perhaps you would not be so easily won.
âI donât know what you mean,â he shakes his head as if he hasnât an inkling what might have upset you.
âYou know very well. A ring to bind me to you? Very well, you told me what it was when you gave it to me. But a ring to bring you the power you crave? To bind all the other rings of power to you, to dominate the free peoples of Middle Earth with a trinket? I cannot be a part of it!â
You stop for a moment, pausing in the realisation that your husband has not yet, to your knowledge, forged his own ring. Perhaps there is hope.
âI cannot be a part of it. But I will take it with me.â You say, holding up your hand. âFor safekeeping.â
He does not argue. Instead he smirks and tells you, âIâd have it no other way.â
Perhaps you should be concerned, but surely it would do more harm in his hands than yours.
âYou donât want this.â For the first time in millennia, his voice shakes as he calls after you.
You turn on your heel and search his face for any sign at all that he might still come with you.
âYou donât know my heart.â It tastes a lie as it leaves your lips, but itâs the only retort you have.
With a soft smile, knowing and terrible, he replies, âDarling, I am your heart.â
The space where your heart used to be twists and shatters, leaving you breathless.
âThen you know how much this hurts. Please, donât make it worse.â With that, you take your leave, refusing to turn around without him at your back, abandoning him to his chosen fate.
âAmariĂŤ,â you hear him softly behind you, as you refuse to look back.
âAmariĂŤ, do not foresake me!â It is an interesting choice of words, considering Morgothâs curse that dooms you both to the otherâs absence, and the irony is not lost on you.
âDo not let Him take you from me again!â
You stop in your tracks, turning on your heel.
âThis is not His doing, my love.â You hold fast as he stalks towards you, trembling slightly as you take in your husband in all his fury.
He towers above you, taking your face in his hands.
âIt is yours.â You whisper, your strength waning as he lowers himself to claim you in a crushing kiss, hands wrapping tightly around your neck and waist.
You canât breathe, canât think, canât do anything but kiss him back with abandon, feel his hands digging into your sides, the pain in your heart-
âGive up this madness. Come with me. Please, you said once youâd do anything for the love of me. So come with me.â You plead with him, grasping his hands tightly as if it were possible to change his mind simply by imbuing his flesh with your will.
After what feels like the longest pause of your life, Sauron gazing into your eyes with an inscrutable expression, he rests his forehead to yours.
âI must heal Middle Earth. And I will do it with or without you.â His voice breaks, like your heart.
You pull away and nod, refusing to look at him.
âThen know this is not your masterâs doing, it is entirely your own.â
You turn and start walking, in desperate hope your people will forgive you, will take you in now you have nowhere else to turn.
He screams your name until he is hoarse, but he does not follow. He can always find you; time and space are no obstacles to the likes of your bond.
But that does not fill the hole in his arms where the world used to be, the space meant for you.

Wrong Outcome
â˘đ¤đŚđŞťâ˘
Summary: Youâve been with Cassian since well forever, being Rhysands sister you met him young and have been inseparable, you find out youâre pregnant but he chooses Nesta, but when you dissapear he realizes he made a mistake
Pairing: Cassian x f!reader
â˘Masterlistâ˘
Everything was exactly how I wanted it, my brother was finally home, my two bestfriends, Azriel and Mor, and the man Iâve always loved, he treated me like I was the center of his world but then things changed, Feyre came along and then shortly after her sisters and suddenly Nesta was all Cas cared about
He slowly stopped staying with me at night, started missing out every Saturday dates that weâve had since well forever, and now I can barely get a word out of him without his attention being completely on her and whatâs worse is that sheâs so cruel to me
I sighed waking up in my empty bed that use to be warmed by Cassian, Iâm wearing an over sized shirt and my hair is raggedy and my face swollen and blotchy from crying, I drag myself to Rhysands office where heâd be early in the mornings
I slumped down in the chair across from him biting nervously on my lip
âWoah sis youâre not looking so goodâ he said putting his work aside and coming to sit next to me
âWhy does he love her so much but not me, did I do something, what does she have that I donâtâ I sigh as the tears continue to stream
âOh my little star itâs not you heâs just a block head, heâll realize what heâs missingâ he said pushing my head back
âBut I donât want him to realize Iâm the one after heâs tried out with someone else, he barely even looks at me anymoreâ
âI wish I could take your pain awayâ
âWhy canât I have a love like yours and Feyresâ
Before he could answer I got up and dragged myself back through the living room on my way to the kitchen seeing Nesta and Cassian sat on the couch a little too close
âLooking a little pudgy lately donât you thinkâ Nesta laughed and she pointed at my belly, Iâve only recently noticed but Iâve barely eaten enough to gain that much weight, I wrap my arms around my self noticing Azriel come up behind me and lead me to his room
âItâs like living with an evil spiritâ he groans as he sets me down on his bed
âCan you take me away, just drop me off at the family cabin or anywhere I justâŚâŚ.i canât be here anymore AzâŚâŚpleaseâ he nods reassuringly
I pack a bag and load up some food for my time away before he wishes me away
âAre you sure youâll be okay here?â He asks gently squeezing my arms
âMaybe just check up on me once in a while, just donât tell the others except Rhys okayâ
âOkayâ
â˘
The days dragged on into weeks into months and quickly I found out in pregnant, it was heart breaking at first realizing the man of my dreams doesnât even want me anymore let alone a baby, but after some talking with Azriel I realized it was a gift, to be able to have a little bundle of joy and heâd be there for me every step of the way
As I got closer to my due date Azriel convinced me to come home so I wasnât alone during birth, I hear a knock at the door and it Azriel as I open the door
âReady to come home Angel?â
âAs long as youâre by my sideâ I smile as I thread my arm through his
We were back in the family home and my heart started picking up
âIâm nervousâ I whisper as I turn into Az
âItâll be okayâ we walk into the living room where everyone is and they all turn to us, ending all conversation
âMy little star youâreâŚâŚ.youre pregnant?â Rhys asks as he shoots up from his chair and comes over rubbing my belly
I nod knowing how excited heâd be it killed me to keep it a secret from him
Azriel and I sat down at the dining table seeing how everyone had so many questions
âWhere have you been?â Mor breaks the silence
âI needed to get awayâ I glance over at Cassian and Nesta
âIs it Azriels?â Cassian asks worry written all over his face, sometimes I wish it was Azriel with how well he treats me
âNoâ I say squeezing his hand under the table
âThen whoâs?â Elain speaks up
âIt doesnât matter anymoreâ
The room fell silent
âItâs mine isnât itâ Cassian sighed looking like a lost puppy
I silently nodded looking down at my lap, I hear the chair screech back heavy footsteps walking my way before Iâm pulled up and being dragged away
âWhat are you doing you canât just ignore me when Nesta comes along and think you can just push me around nowâ I groan as I push him away when we get far enough away from the living room
âListen please, Iâm sorry I didnât treat you right, itâs just I felt something when I was with her but then I realized it was only because that reserved part of her reminded me of you when Rhys first introduced us, and that Iâve been ignore you and then you were gone and I felt it in my chestâŚ..youâre my mateâ his words took my breath away
âReally? Youâre not lying to meâ
âOf course not, I love you and I made a mistake please give me another chanceâ he was practically begging now
âOkay butâŚ.youre going to have to make it up to me, Iâm talking about a lot of sweetsâ
âAnything Iâll always do anything for youâ
â˘
Itâs been a month since I came back and a few days after I gave birth to the cutest little girl she had purple eyes and dark brown hair with tiny wings and Cassian has been doing alot of reperations and got quite a talking from Azriel and Rhys but Iâm just glad things are back to how I always imagined

it's been a hot minute since i read the odyssey, so this list is non-exhaustive, but epic has made me very odysseybrained rn so here's some of my favourite pieces of odyssey lore that were changed/not included by jorge:
odysseus having his men plug their ears with beeswax while passing the sirens but not doing it himself because he was curious real bad, and instead opting to have his men tie his ass to the mast of the ship and ignore all his kicking and screaming so he could listen for fun and survive
that one fucking guy who got drunk as a skunk at circe's and ended up on her roof the night before the crew was set to depart for the underworld, and when he awoke hungover to see everyone leaving without him, forgot where he was and ran off the roof breaking his neck and killing himself. the crew noticed he was missing but didn't look for him, which made things presumably at least a little awkward when he was the first guy they met upon entering the underworld
ok i've seen some people criticize odysseus for cheating on penelope with circe and calypso which is already a dogshit take cause obviously consent wasn't being freely given in a literal hostage situation, but also i'd like to point out that if he was a serial cheater he would not have ignored nausicaä like that?? she wanted him so bad and his ass did NOT care (probably cause she didn't fucking kidnap him or use sex as a ransom for his friends, hm.......)
also i'm very tickled by the idea of him in some versions of the story being like "hey kid, you're sweet and all, but you're too young for me and i'm happily married...... you know who IS single and your age though??" and then he sets her up with his kid (if someone knows which tellings have the nausicaä and telemachus kissing content in them PLEASE let me know which ones. for research purposes)
this one's only tangentially related but i need to talk to someone about the loose movie adaptation where ulysses is a runaway prisoner in the 1930s american south who starts a band with his friends called the soggy bottom boys. what was all that about

last christmas
âAre you ready for your gift?â you asked him excitedly. It was finally your favourite time of the year, Christmas. You always loved this time as it was one of the rare occasions where you were able to spend it with your loved onesâyour family would all meet up later on at your parentsâ house for the yearly Christmas dinner.
Unfortunately for you your boyfriend wouldnât be able to join you all because of prior commitments he couldnât get out of, of what they were exactly you werenât sure but you surmised he mustâve decided to spend it with his own family as that would be the logical answer. You didnât probe further because you knew he hated being asked a lot of questions.
You didnât mind him not joining you, you thought he too deserved to share it with those he cared about most so you offered to meet earlier to exchange gifts before you separated to your various plans. You handed him a small box youâd expertly gift wrapped and watched excitedly as he unwrapped it. He finally opened the box and stared into it, his eyes widening.
âNo way. You didnât.â
You nodded enthusiastically, unable to contain your elation. âI did! I saw they were on sale and knew immediately that I had to get them. And look, court side!â
Youâd gotten him tickets to go watch his favourite basketball team. He jumped out of his seat and howled with joy. Heâd always wanted to see a live game but always fell short on funds when the time would come to purchase them. You figured this would be the perfect gift, plus the two seats were court side. Heâd always mentioned he wanted to watch from there.
âThis is best, thank you, babe!â He mentioned he couldnât wait to tell his best friend the news. You furrowed her eyebrows but thought nothing of it because surely heâd be taking you, right? Surely heâd be able to see that that was the intention and so you made no comment further on the matter.
âOkay, whereâs my gift?â He seemed to only remember then that you were still in the room.
âItâs not here yet,â he started much to your disappointment, âbut it should be in tomorrow. There was a little delay on the delivery.â
You understood it could happen. It was a busy time of the year after all. âWhat is it, then?â
âYouâll love it. Itâs something I think youâll really enjoy.â He paused, almost as if for dramatic effect before giving you a wide grin. âItâs a massage chair.â
Your face slightly fell before you recovered before he could notice.
âOh.â
He, however, sensed you werenât quite as pleased as he was about your new gift. âWhat?â
âItâs just thatâŚI donât think I need a massage chair.â
This was your polite way of saying you absolutely had no interest in a massage chair. In fact, if you remembered correctly, he was the one whoâd always wanted a massage chair. You knew exactly which one heâd always wanted as well and figured that was the one heâd gotten for you instead.
âWhat do you mean? Youâve mentioned it a few times before.â
That was where he was wrong.
âI wanted a foot spa.â
He shrugged, dismissing your statement.âSame thing. Just plop your feet up and itâll give you a massage. This is a real steal, anyway. Instead of just your feet itâll do your whole body. You should be happy about this.â
You sighed and said, âWell itâs not exactly what I wantedââ
You werenât surprised when he wouldnât let you finish. âDo you know how much this cost me? For you to be berating me like this?â
It didnât cost him anything, you knew. Heâd most likely asked his mother for the money. He hardly ever had some of his own.
âI wasnât berating you. Actually itâs-â
âNo. Iâm not taking any of this. I try to do something special for you and you throw it right in my face. Thatâs so typical of you.â
You were quite familiar with the way this game would play out by now. Whenever he was in the wrong, heâd find a way to twist the situation so the finger would point back at yourself and youâd be the one who would need to apologise and when you would, he wouldnât accept it, stating how his feelings were the ones that were hurt and how he was the one needed some space from you.
And thatâs exactly how it went.
You just hated it had to happen on the one day you always looked forward to the most. You couldnât believe heâd ruin your favourite holiday. You wouldnât let him. Instead, you offered to leave his apartment before it could escalate further so youâd have the necessary time apart and youâd still be in somewhat of a cheery mood for when it was time to meet with your loved ones. Nothing would ruin your Christmas spirit, not even him.
The next day, you woke up to numerous missed calls and text messages from him asking if you could come over to his apartment to talk about the previous day.
That was how you found yourself on one side of his couch with him looking pensive on the other end, clearly ensuring there was enough distance between the both of you.
âHow was the rest of your christmas? You didnât call back but I assumed you were probably busy with your family. I know how this time gets,â you said as a means of a conversation opener. Nobody had spoken a word yet since heâd opened the door to let you in and the tension was thick between the two of you. His response didnât make matters better. âI didnât spend it with family.â
âYou spent it alone?â
Hope dripped in your voice.
âNo.â
And soon dried out.
âWith your friends.â It wasnât a question. You knew the answer and knew what would follow.
âShe was there.â You knew who he was referring to. You could taste the bile forming.
âOh.â
âAfter last night, I just needed someone to listen to me and hear me out and then one thing led to another andâŚâ
âOh.â
You couldnât bring yourself to say anymore. Words evaded you. You were afraid if you did try to say anything more, nothing would come out but your hot tears that already threatened to fall. After a while, he broke the silence. âArenât you gonna say anything?â
âWhat do you want me to say?â came her question in a soft, broken voice.
âWell if it wasnât for our fight, we wouldnât be in this situation.â
It was in that moment everything seemed clearer to you. The rose coloured glasses youâd somehow worn up to this point fell off and you finally saw him for who he was. You knew for sure in that moment you held no place in his heart, not like how he held one in yours which was an upsetting realisation to come by on one of the most magical days of the year.
âI canât believe you.â You stood to leave and you werenât surprised when he hardly moved to try and stop you. âWhere are you going?â came his halfhearted attempt at doing so.
With one last look, you turned to him. âIâm done here. Iâm done with you.â
Yeosang had asked to meet you in the city later on that night. It was already prearranged. You thought of cancelling but thought being around a friend during this time would be beneficial for you and your other friends were all already busy, helping with tidying up any remaining bits and pieces from the day before. You found herself aimlessly walking around the city, watching as the snow fell onto you and onto the ground. You couldnât help but notice couples walking with each other, hand in hand, joyfully laughing and talking to one another as if they had no care in the world. You couldnât help the sad feeling that overcame you and hugged yourself in comfort before going on.
You finally stopped in front of the large Christmas tree in the city square and admired the warm, flashing lights decorating the white tree. A large flashing star was placed on top of it and âWe wish you a Merry Christmasâ tinkled on from nearby spears on either side.
It brought a tear to your eye which you quickly wiped off.
âMerry Christmas.â You turned and found Yeosang standing behind you with a large red and green box in his hands and a Santaâs hat on. You gave him a small smile and playfully rolled your eyes.
âThat was yesterday, dummy.â
âI know but I never got the chance to tell you.â
You realised just how long it had been since youâd last spoken to him and your heart clenched. There was time here you wouldnât go a day without speaking but because your boyfriend always got mad when you spoke to him, you had to cool your communication. You were glad you didnât have to worry about that anymore because in all honesty, you really missed him. More than you could ever understand. Now that you were with him again, everything felt like it was beginning to make sense again.
He lead you to a nearby bench and you both sat down. You noticed you could still admire the Christmas lights behind you and how they illuminated a warm hue on his faceâalmost as if to enhance his already kind and ethereal features.
âYou donât even celebrate Christmas,â you said once youâd settled down. He shrugged and placed the box in between you. âBut you do. So Iâll celebrate for you.â
âWhatâs this?â
âA gift.â You eyed him suspiciously before opening the box and gasped.
âItâs a foot spa.â
âWell, you mentioned how much youâd like one once so I thought Iâd get it for you.â His eyes widened in slight panic. âWhat, did you already get it yourself?â Then they widened even more said that were possible. âWhatâs wrong why are you crying?â
You held the box close to you and shook your head to ease his thoughts. âItâs perfect. Thank you. I really do appreciate it, Sangie.â
You couldnât help your giggle at the red tint brushing over his cheeks.
âYouâre welcome.â
âââ
this christmas
âI canât believe you still havenât told him how you feel.â You had dragged your begrudging brother along with you to help shop for last minute Christmas gifts. You had been shopping for a good majority of the day and heâd been moaning and groaning for quite some time but you chose to ignore itâmore so threatened him with not receiving his own which youâd bought already if he continued to complain.
âWhat are you talking about?â You looked at him quizzically before going back scouting for a gift.
âYour crush on Yeosang?â You rolled your eyes.
âCan you even call it that anymore? Itâs passed that point by now.â
In retaliation, you aggressively shoved his shoulder causing him to stumble and protest about the slippery floorâwhich aptly you ignored.
âI do not have a crush on him,â you told him pointedly. He scoffed.
âWeâve searched high and low for the perfect Christmas gift for him. Iâm sure it didnât take you this long to find ours.â
âWell, because I know what you guys want, you wonât shut up about it. He doesnât celebrate Christmas so I have to make sure itâs worthwhile.â You pouted before returning to the task at hand.
âWhatever you get him heâll love it, Iâm sure of it because itâs from you.â
You werenât budging. âIt has to be perfect.â
âAnd why exactly should it be?â
You could sense the teasing in his voice.
âIt just does.â
You knew Yeosang for a little over three years now. Youâd met one day through a mutual friend, Wooyoung when heâd convinced you both to attend a party. You stood in a corner, nursing your drink and waiting for the right time to go home but your plans were derailed when you found camaraderie in Yeosang. You didnât even notice the time passing and you two have been inseparable since, something Wooyoung also never fails teasing you both about. But the possibility of you having feelings for him? You loved Yeosang. He was always so sweet and gentle with you and cared for you like no one else did. You always felt safe around him and comfortable enough to be vulnerable with him but to go as far as saying you had feelings for him? He was simply your best friend. Thatâs all he was. Was it?
There was a knock on the door and you immediately rushed to get it.
âYeosang!â
He was standing on the other side, flowers in one hand and a few gift bags in the other. Your mother wasnât too far behind you and happily greeted the new guest.
âOh itâs lovely to see you again!â
Youâd brought him over a few times before whenever youâd visit your parents and theyâd now gotten accustomed to him and treated him as if he were their own. Your mother quickly ushered him in and took the gifts and flowers from him after gushing at how thoughtful he was. She gave you a teasing glance before heading to put the gifts by the tree.
âUncle Yeosang!â your niece called as she ran inside and hugged him. Your sister and brother followed suit.
âGlad to see itâs you with her,â your sister commented.
âItâs not like that,â you mumble but your sister chose to not acknowledge your comment. It was your brother who had instead.
âYeah, yeah, weâll take what we can get. Come join us.â
You all lead him into the living room where the rest of your family was. He greeted your father, it would be an understatement to say heâd taken a liking to him, as well as your grandmother, cousins aunts and uncles whoâd joined you this year. Christmas was one of the only times where youâd all see each other so it was almost always a full house.
Whilst you helped your mother and sister in the kitchen, Yeosang helped your brother and father outside.
âMy ex tried to contact me again today,â you said as you peeled carrots.
Your mother huffed. âOf course he did. You were always too good for him. I kept telling you he was a good for nothing.â
âMom,â you groaned.
âYou know sheâs right. Why havenât you blocked him already?â
âIf you must know, I kind of forgot about him after our break up? He didnât try to get in touch with me afterwards and I just kind of forgot to? I only remembered when I got the message today.â
âWhatever the case is, I thought last Christmas would be the last we hear of him. Shouldâve been sooner, if you ask me. Weâre on to bigger and better things now. Yeosang.â Your sister gave you a cheeky smile. You playfully nudged her but said nothing further as you continued with your allocated dish.
After dinner was ready, you all sat down to feast. You were well aware of the chosen seat for Yeosang right next to yours at the dinner table. Everyone joked and laughed with one another and you couldnât help noticing how natural it was for him to be there and how accepting everyone seemed to be towards him.
Whenever youâd brought your ex around your family, thereâd always been an underlying tension with their interactions towards him but with Yeosang, everyone seemed so cheery and open. You even stayed longer afterwards with him as you all gathered around for a game of Christmas charades, separating into two teams. You and him were on opposing teams and, unfortunately for you, he was on the winning team. He wasnât one to outwardly gloat about winning but he couldnât help himself from teasing you from time to time much to your chagrin. He knew you could be a sore loser and took full advantage of it.
It was finally time for everyone to say their goodbyes. You saw the rest of them out until it was finally only you, your immediate family and Yeosang left.
You and him made it outside your parentsâ backyard to see they had gone all out with the Christmas decorations and lights. You lead him to a little archway where a bench sat underneath. You were aptly aware of his knee touching yours.
It was a cold December night but Yeosang had asked if you two could speak where it was just you two and you figured this was the best option where your family wouldnât interrupt.
âMy family likes you,â you said as you smiled at him and leaned against his shoulder. You could hear his own smile when he responded.
âI like your family too.â âWhatâs this about your mother welcoming me into your family?â You looked up to him to see he was beet red at this point but still tried to come off as playful. You excused it for the cold.
âDonât mind her. Sheâs just happy to move on from any reminder of my ex in my life.â
âDoes it hurt?â You leaned against him again and shook your head.
âNo. Not as much as I thought it would. He tried to contact me earlier today.â There was a pause.
âAnd?â
âI didnât respond. Heâs not worth it.â You scrunched your nose. âNever was, was he?â
âYou said it.â He held up his hands in defense which made you chuckle.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence, as comparable as two people could be in the freezing cold, and you closed your eyes as you took in the moment. You felt him shuffling underneath you which caused you to sit up and give him a quizzical look. You excused his crimson face for how cold it was but then you noticed he didnât meet your eyes as he held a small rectangular box in his hands.
âHere,â he quickly said with what felt like great effort as if he was steeling his nerves to speak.
âWhatâs this?â
âYour gift.â
âOh! I actually got you something too but itâs back in the house. I can goââ
âNo, no.â He caught your arm before you made it far. âItâs fine. Iâll see it later. Open yours first.â
The determined look on his face stilled your movements as you sat back next to him and opened the box. Inside you found a necklace with a small diamond encrusted snowflake as a pendant.
âI didnât know what I should get you so I got you this. I hope you like it.â
Your fingers ran over the snowflake and you smiled.
âItâs perfect. I love it.â
âLast Christmas was such a mess for you. I just wanted to make this one a better experience. Itâs your favourite holiday and you deserve to have happy memories of it again.â
Your eyes filled up as you looked at him. Yeosang was naturally soft spoken, you knew this but in this moment it seemed he was fighting with himself to get the words out. He looked like he had more to say but struggled to find the words. You had a feeling you knew what it was but you didnât want to give yourself any false hope. It was then you realised, you actually wanted your not-so-secret wish to come true. It was then you realised, as your heart pumped out of your chest, just how much Yeosang really meant to you.
âSangieâŚâ
âI really like you, y/n. Iâve liked you for a long time and I understand if you donât feel the same way. I just couldnât go another day without letting you know how I feel.â
You knew from how fast he spoke he hadnât fully processed what it was heâd just admitted to. Once his words caught up to him, his eyes nearly bulged out of his skull. You wouldâve laughed if you yourself werenât so overcome with emotion.
Suddenly everything made sense, how heâd always been the one youâd run to, call when you needed help or even just to hear his voice, why you needed his gift to be perfect because to you he was perfect and you wanted him to know.
But you were nervous. Yeosang was so dear to you that you knew if he were to ever break your heart the way your ex did, you might not recover from it. You couldnât bear losing him forever. If you were to take this leap with him, you had to be sure what you both had was true and not a fleeting feeling. You wished there could be a sign to aid you in your decision.
Something touched your cheek and you realised, once youâd looked up that it had began snowing again. You also noticed something above you both and smiled to yourself.
âWeâre under a mistletoe,â you whispered but loud enough for him to hear. He looked up as well and noticed what youâd noticed.
âWhat does that mean again?â You leaned in close to him, a smile still dancing on your lips.
âIt means kiss me, silly.â Yeosang cradled your face ever so gently until finally your lips met. It was as sweet and as soft as he was and with it you knew that your heart this time around was in safe hands.

the forgotten girl (9)
originally post on my old account, posting twice weekly :)
Alexiaâs POVÂ
âYou alright there capi?â Lucy giggled watching as I gripped my glass tighter and tighter.Â
âIâm fine Lucia.â Gritted through teeth.Â
Jealousy was freely flowing through my veins. Why did Misa and Alba get to dance with her like that? I wanted it to be me and only me. I wasnât usually possessive, but Amelia made me do irrational things.Â
As Amelia almost fell over her own feet on the dance floor, Misa grabbed her waist. That was it. Iâd had enough.Â
âAle, stop. Sheâs having fun.â Keira placed a hand on my chest as soon as I got up. âLet her enjoy this.â
âNo. Sheâs too drunk, Iâm taking her home.â Pushing passed Keira was quiet easy, considering she was shorted and less muscular.Â
By the time I pushed through the bodies on the dance floor, Alba had gone back to the bar leaving Misa and Amelia grinding on each other. She smiled at me and reached her arm out to invite me.Â
âNo. We are going home. Letâs go.â I tugged her arm, pulling her out of Misaâs grip.Â
âAle stop. I donât want to go home yet.âÂ
âI donât care. Letâs go. Iâll drag you out if I have to.â She gave up the fight, letting me pull her through the crowd, past our friends who were all watching on, very confused and not understanding what was happening. By the time we were outside she was starting to fight back.Â
âAlexia! Alexia stop! What is wrong with you?âÂ
âYou! Youâre what is wrong with me!â
âWhat the fuck is that supposed to mean Alexia?â She scoffed, crossing her arms against her chest. She was mad.Â
âForget about it. Just get in the car and let me take you home. Please.âÂ
Shaking her head and refusing to move, âno. You donât get to say that and then tell me to forget about it. Youâre an adult Alexia. use your words.âÂ
âI am in love with you! No one is you. Jesus!âÂ
âAlexia no. You love Olga. She is your person, not me.âÂ
âOlga broke up with me.â I say quietly. Not quite ready to admit the truth. She could see I loved her, but I was in love with you.Â
âShe broke up with you because you love me.â It almost sounded like she was trying to make sense of it herself. Â
âI have always loved you Amelia. Even when you left me, I didnât stop loving you. You tore my heart out of my fucking chest and all I wanted was you. All I want is you. I canât keep being just friends with you. Maybe because your eyes remind me so much of the nights we fell asleep wrapped in each other's warmth Or maybe when you smile it makes my body shiver because I know that smile used to be because of me. I can't see that with my eyes and pretend like it's ony. Because it's not. I can't be just friends with you, because every time I see you I fall in love again."Â
The tears were running down both our faces. Silence engulfed us.Â
âPlease say something mil.â It came out more like a sob.Â
âAlexia, I ca-âÂ
âWhatâs going on? Are you okay?â Keiraâs engulfed Mil in a hug, Alba and Lucy standing either side of them. Keiraâs face was mad, Lucyâs was sad and Alba she was unreadable.Â
âTake me home please Kei.â With that, Keira turned them both around, walking away and leaving me there, again.Â
âWait Mil please!â I tried to go after them but Lucyâs hand caught my arm.Â
âStop Ale. Sheâs drunk, let Keira take her home and you can have the conversation later. Come on, Iâll take you home.â Lucy was firm but soft. Not waiting to push too much.Â
Alba chewed me out in the drive home. I wasnât even listening to be honest. The tears never stopped falling, all I could think about was Amelia. What would have happened if weâd tried sooner? Or if she never left? It had always been here, I knew it from the moment I met her but I was with Jenni then.Â
Lucy left after dropping alba and I at my apartment. It was a horrible ride in the elevator. Alba wouldnât stop. She didnât stop when we got inside, or when I walked away from her, she just followed and continued to chew me out.Â
âAlba stop! I fucked up okay. I love her and I have for years. I donât need you telling me over and over again that I fucked up. I am well aware of that fact.âÂ
âYou love her? What about Olga?âÂ
âShe broke up with me. 3 weeks ago.âÂ
âAle-â
âNo donât! I donât need your pity right now. I need you to tell me what to do to fix this. I canât lose Amelia again. I canât go through that pain again. Alba please help me fix this.â The last sentence came out as a whisper, a sob was caught in the back of my throat and as soon as Alba wrapped her arms around me, it all came crashing down.Â
I was going to lose Amelia. Again. Â

I think the first time we actually talked was during one of the first nightmares. I hadnât grown used to the big unbreakable windows or the heavy hospital beds and the idea of having a roommate who saw every one of my little quirks made it even worse. In fact I was even convinced she hated me after a while. She had tried so many times to be friends and I had blown her off every time. Why wouldnât she?
It was in the middle of the night, one of the few nights I had actually gotten myself to fall asleep in which was promptly ruined. I donât even know what had alerted her at first, she was such a light sleeper it couldâve been something as small as the change in my breathing. At any rate though before I could fall too deep into the hole I felt the grip of someoneâs hand on my upper arm giving me a firm shake awake.
My vision was already so blurry because of the lack of glasses and the tears didnât help. My breathing came out sharp and fast as I lifted my hands to roughly wipe at them. âNo, hey, stop, donât do that.â Ellie spoke as she passed off my glasses where I promptly slid them onto my eyes with shaking hands. And whenever I couldnât find anything to wipe the tears away with she chose her sleeve, yanking it down far past her hand and pressing the fabric underneath my eyes until they coated it.
Normally, I wouldâve pulled away. I wouldâve scrambled and begged her not to. But the fact that for once someone besides my sister wasnât looking at me like there was something wrong with me⌠I guess you couldâve called it an early stage trauma bond. Because all it did was pull me towards her. My hand was flying to hers before I know it, wrapping around her wrist as if to hold it into place.
I let out a tiny gasp in embarrassment, shaking my head to unravel my fingers as I stammered out an anxious apology. âIâm- Iâm sorry-â
âItâs okay.â She spoke, the corners of her lips upturning in a weak smile as she inched herself closer. âThe first week is usually the hardest. And you get pretty touch starved at some point so⌠youâre okay. I-I probably need it just as much as you do.â
I sniffled as I nodded, still trying to regulate my breathing as I pushed myself up to a sitting position, still desperately clutching at her arm with a trembling hand like she was the only thing I had left to hold on to. âHow did you make it to England?â I whispered, subconsciously scooting aside so she could take a seat on the bed next to me, her shoulder just slightly brushing mine.
âTurns out whenever the US Army really fucks you up, theyâre willing to shell out a shit ton of money to send you to the best mental health facilities in other countries to hopefully fix it.â
âGeezâŚâ I muttered underneath my breath as I hugged my knees to my chest. âSo youâre like, proper scarred then?â
I wasnât expecting the massive laugh to burst from her lungs next, almost needing to slap a hand over her in order to not alert any of the nurses probably more than we already had. âYou could say that.â She answered, resting her back against the wall before giving my arm the smallest of nudges. âWhat about you? What are you in for?â
âMy parents⌠really just donât know how to accept the fact that Iâm⌠different. So theyâve stuck me in here hoping to find some kind of âcureâ I guess.â I shrugged, arms hugged around my knees. âTurns out just being extremely neurodivergent isnât enough to fit the criteria of being put in a long term residential psychiatric care facility though so-â
âOh yeah? Tried to check out too early too, huh?â
âWow, itâs like you know me already.â I added with another tearful chuckle, Ellie already pulling at her sleeve to catch the strays before they could roll down my cheeks.
âI do know you.â She added, her tone shifting in a slightly more serious though still gentle tone. âI am you.â
For some reason the words brought forth another shuddering sob. A level of understanding I hadnât seen in anyone else before, not even my sister. âCâmere.â I heard her whisper, pulling away her already halfway up short hair as she extended her arms out to me like we had known each other for years. The sound of my sob was muffled by her hoodie as she pulled me in, my face hidden in her chest as I let the broken cries finally escape.
It sounded so stupid, but I had tried my hardest not to cry while I was here. I thought if I acted like it enough maybe, finally, magically Iâd become stable enough to not have to be here and it could even translate to my life outside. Turns out it didnât work that way. Ellie brought out a new side of that though, she made me feel like it was okay to cry. And sheâd be there every single time. Brushing away my tears or letting me hide my face in her shoulder or her chest until I didnât have any left to cry.
âFrom now on⌠youâve got me and Iâve got you, deal? So no more trying to check out too early, okay?â I wiped at my eyes with a gross sniffle, and whenever I pried myself from her hoodie I could see her staring at me with an expectant gaze and a lifted pinky finger. It was hard to say no to with that dorky little smile on her face. It was hard to say no to also whenever I knew she had been through so so much worse.
I nodded, weakly, but hoping it was enough enthusiasm for her as I wrapped my pinky around hers and feeling her give them the tiniest squeeze. âPerfect, now Iâm never gonna leave you alone, squirt.â
The nickname brought out a tearful laugh from me, and I realized I couldnât exactly remember the last time I had ever truthfully laughed as she tossed her arms back around me and decorated the top of my head in a dozen kisses. Whenever the nurse came at the usual 5 am to check vitals I distinctly remembered being curled up to her chest like she was my own personal pillow, dozed off to the sound of her breathing.
I knew it was an intense friendship, I knew it couldâve signified more. And honestly maybe thatâs what I was afraid of. Growing so close to somebody only to have it brutally taken away from you by nothing more than the complication of love.
~
The wellness retreat we were at prided itself on trying to be just that, a retreat. They put a big emphasis on the great outdoors, courtyards and swimming pools and gardens, including a significant amount of grounds for us to go on walking trails. Ellie, I think, was determined to explore every inch of them before she got out and judging by both of our appointments weâd have the time too. So it was no surprise we frequently found ourselves on one, conjoined hands swinging back and forth like careless middle schoolers wanting to show off their very first relationship until Ellieâs long legs and curiosity got the better of her and she ended up trotting forward. She was after all exceedingly more fit than me.
âSo, I donât mean to pry or anything.â She spoke up after a moment of silence masked by our lazy footsteps.
âThatâs never stopped you before.â I giggled before breaking out into a skip to catch up with her.
âHa ha⌠very funny.â She snickered with a roll of her eyes. âSo, I think I already know the answer to this but- itâs pride month, so humor me? Your sisterâs an absolute fruit basket, right?â
I burst into laughter at her words before shrugging in response. âI mean, thatâs certainly one way to put it.â
âSo⌠whatâs the likelihood your parents ended up with two gay daughters?â She wondered as she held up the number on her fingers.
A tiny smile stretched on my lips at the question, no sign of offense in sight from my end as I slipped my hand around the crook of her elbow. âIâd say⌠pretty likely.â
âWicked.â She grinned a bit to herself as she rose her arm ever so slightly as if she was a gentleman escorting me to a fancy event. I chuckled once more at her old school slang, catching my bottom lip in between my teeth as if to avoid smiling even harder.
I released a sigh of relief the moment we approached a clearing enveloped perfectly with its high trees. âCan we stop for a second? Iâm totally roasting out here.â I huffed as I trudged forward to find a comfortable seat and slip the psych issued backpack off of my back.
âItâs because youâre always wearing those flannels and long sleeves⌠even outside. No wonder youâre burning up.â Her voice noticeably got softer as she stepped up behind me with a soft hand on my back. âWhy do you do that, by the way?â She questioned, gently slipping her hands up my covered arms to the elbows nearly making me tremble.
âYou- You know why.â I mumbled, feeling our bodies naturally inch closer until I pressed my hands to her chest.
âNo I know why I guess I just⌠donât really know why you wear them here, you know? And around me? I-I mean we all have scars.â She wondered, her careful hands sliding around my back. Somehow despite all of our previous touches and general antics and even falling asleep in the same bed it felt as if this was the most intimate we had ever gotten. Stood like two high schoolers at a dance who had no idea what they were doing, yet everything at the same time.
âI guess I just- I never wanted to bother anybody else. Especially you. Theyâre- Theyâre not pretty, and they hurt and- I donât know.â
Ellie let one of her hands encircle around my forearm against her chest where one of my hands held onto her shoulder. On instinct I tensed up, expecting the worst, expecting the judgemental eyes of doctors and the saddened ones of nurses. âI think scars are a sign of strength- of bravery.â She spoke, gently turning my wrist until the scars were pointed upwards where she gradually rolled my sleeve.
âYourâs are maybe. Mine arenât brave. H-Hurting yourself isnât brave.â
Ellieâs brushed a tender thumb along the raised skin, the healed markers of stitches. Normally the touches wouldâve caused the slightest sting or even a throb. Healed enough to have faded ever so slightly but not enough to have stopped the pain entirely. Ellieâs touch was so gentle though, so careful and delicate. âSurviving through it is though.â My eyebrows knitted together as a waterfall of tears burned behind my eyes.
âThat doesnât mean do it again-â she ordered as she held up a stern finger with her free hand. âBut⌠just donât be ashamed either, you know?â Ellie caught a stray tear with her thumb just before carefully lifting my scarred arm until she could brush her lips against it. Placing delicate featherlike kisses against every little wound.
âThank you.â I sniffled, a soft sob catching in the back of my throat just as I felt her pulling me in, my face muffled in the crook of her shoulder as she wrapped a strong arm around me. âI think you might just be the sun.â
âDarlingâŚâ I could feel her shaking her head from just above me as she still held my wrist with such care. âIâm far from the sun. Iâm just a girl who⌠who really really cares about another girl.â
It almost felt like a declaration of some sort, my eyes flickering upwards to meet her softened green eyes, her star-like freckles that I could trace like constellations, down to her curved lips. Maybe I was hallucinating and delusional, looking back on it I probably was. A one-sided magnetic pull towards her perfectly pink lips. So why did she seem to get closer too? Why did she wrap her arms around my waist to pull me in? Why did she let my hand caress her face in the way it did? Why why why why?
At the last second I felt her lips shifting, pressing softly to my cheek instead of my own and I could nearly feel my heart shatter right then and there. âBaby, I canât do this to you.â She whispered with a shake of her head, the step backwards only sending me reeling as I fought the urge to dive after her.
âBut I- I thought-â
âI know- I know but- fuck, please donât cry, Millie, Iâm sorry.â Ellie didnât cry often, so whenever she did it was a big deal. But in that moment I could see the tears welling up in her own eyes as she drew back to me so quickly I nearly lost balance. âI canât- I-I canât give you your first kiss in here. We- We canât do this, Millie. I love you s-so fucking endlessly but I- y-you deserve to have your first kiss be from somebody special and somewhere romantic and⌠not with me.â She sighed a bit to herself, clenching her hands at her sides as if it killed her to say any of this.
âI just canât give you what you need i-in that sense right now and I- I hate myself for it and I feel like Iâve screwed up the most important and precious thing in my life because of it but⌠I canât lie to you. I just canât.â A weak sob fell from her lips as she let her hands fly to her eyes as if itâd somehow hide all the evidence.
If she were a selfish woman she wouldâve gone through with it. She wouldâve pushed her lips to mine and held on for dear life and maybe it wouldâve gone farther. But she wasnât selfish. In fact she was probably the most overwhelmingly selfless person I had ever met.
âEllie, love.â I gulped back my own tears as I stepped forward to take her body into my own arms, lifting up onto my tiptoes so she could nuzzle her face into my own shoulder. âIâm not mad at you. You didnât screw anything up. You could never screw this up.â
Ellieâs arms squeezed around my waist as she let her tears soak into the crook of my neck with a shuddering sob. âYou are the only good thing that has ever happened to me.â
âAnd youâre still the sun.â I spoke softly, inching away only to cup her freckled face in my hand and press my forehead to hers. âYou saved me. So youâre my sun.â

Jinx x fem!reader relationship headcanons
Ahhh, todayâs post came out late because tumblr sucks and it didnât post the writing, making me loose it all and have to write it all over again >:(
Complain to it
Warnings: SFW headcanons, spoilers season 2
â˘you donât catch her eyes, sheâs too busy dealing with life to even think about a relationship, she catch yours
â˘itâs hard to approach her, really hard, principally after she becomes q Zaun hero. Everyone wants to hurt her, everyone wants to manipulate her, no one knows how she truly is, at least, thatâs what she thinks
â˘has a hard time trusting you on the start, what would a stranger that she had never seen before want with her other then maybe status, money or the reward for her head?
â˘when you finally manages to approach her, just enough for her to let you spend some time with her, you two grow close rather fast. Sheâs touch starved, has no one to talk with, no one to share her ideas other then the voices of her old family, so she tells you about everything
â˘you probably are the one to ask for a relationship, she would never allow herself to get that vulnerable, and she says yes, even if sheâs a bit confused about what she feels about you (donât worry, soon she realizes that youâre the woman of her life and that she loves you)
â˘loves public display of affection, is there any better manner then to show to the whole Zaun that you genuinely love her? That she found someone that can love her as she is? Without trying to change her, without seeing her as Powder, but Jinx. If you start it by yourself or immediately contributes with her affection, she will get even happier
â˘as Said before, she loves public displays of affection, and as much as she loves your physical touch, she struggles to take it well sometimes, she will tense up and yelp when you start the affection stuff, blame that on her whole life, she would only get affection from dying people (silco COUGH COUGH) and when being manipulated (ALSO SILCO COUGH COUGH)
â˘will zone out sometimes, you will be cuddling her, dancing with her, whatever, and she will just stare at you, a frown forming on her face, her eyes expressionless, muscles tense, just waiting for you to hurt her. With time, these episodes become less
â˘isnât vocal about her affection, she will never say âI love youâ, not when you ask her out or even on your first time sleeping together, the closets you get of these three words are small, almost hidden âilyâ âs written on gifts that she makes you
â˘talking about gifts, she shows how much she loves you by giving you gifts, so expect to have a room full of grenades and pistols that she made herself!
â˘will definitely ask you do to her nails, even if you suck at it, she just wants to feel your warmth
â˘follows you around when you leave, principally when the voices are louder, telling her that someone can hurt you, that someone can steal you, kill you. She makes sure you never know it though, she follows you from shadows
â˘please, wash her hair for her, it makes her feel so loved and cared for like she never was as a child
â˘if you like to whisper sweet things for her when sheâs asleep and she finds out, she will definitely pretend to be asleep just to listen to you
Now, since im evil, letâs finish this with something sad. >:3
â˘expect her to either become sightly paranoid, defensive and somewhat even possessive once Isha dies or try to leave you completely, not wanting you to have the same destiny as everyone she ever loved.
â˘silco died, isha died, everyone she ever loved did, she will try her best to leave you, to protect you from her

â âJust breathe.â â âI know,â she gasps. âIâm trying.â
âHey. Look at me, okay? Youâre gonna be okay. Just look at me. Itâs over. Villainâs gone, alright? Probably wonât show her face again for a while, too. You did that,â Teammate says, leaning forward on the palms of her hands but not daring to get any closer to Hero. Sheâs most unpredictable when sheâs vulnerable. And Teammate doubts she wants to be touched.
Hero shakes her head, still panting for breath. The cut on her forehead is small, thin â but warm blood still drips down into her eye, and Teammate has to stop herself from wiping it away. âTeammate, I⌠Iâm sorry. Iâmâ Iâm soââ
âNo, no, hey. Itâs okay. Iâm okay,â Teammate promises. âI know I just startled you. Itâs okay.â
âIâ I hurt youââ
âYeah, you did. A lot less than Villain wouldâve if you hadnât stopped her, though.â Teammate tries to keep her voice soft, steady, reassuring. âI can handle a few bruises. If I couldnât, Iâd be in the wrong profession.â
For a moment â a brief, ecstatic moment â Teammate thinks she might be helping. Hero gets quiet, looks down.
Then Hero starts to wheeze. Her hands jolt up to claw at the neckline of her suit, her back pressing hard into the wall. Teammate flinches, jumps forward â to heck with not touching her â and grabs her by the shoulders. âHero? Whatâs wrong?â
âIâmâ Ugh, Iâ I canâtââ Hero barely gets the words out, with her shattered voice and heaving chest.
Teammate cups Heroâs face and says the only thing she can think to.
âJust breathe.â
Hero grits her teeth. âI know,â she gasps. âIâm trying.â
âThatâs great. Youâre doing great, Hero. Tell me what youâre thinking.â
âI⌠it hurts. Please, Teammate, it hurtsââ Hero shudders, grabbing fistfuls of her hair and yanking as she curls her body. âIâm not readyâ Iâm not ready for this to h-happen ag, againââ
âItâs okay, Hero. Itâs okay. Hey, look at me. Everythingâs okay, see?â Teammate takes Heroâs hands and gently lowers them away from her head. âVillainâs not coming back soon. She canât hurt you. I wonât let her hurt you. This is just a panic attackââ
âAnxiety attack,â Hero snarls.
Teammate nods. âOkay. Anxiety attack. My point is, youâre not in any danger. I want you to try something with me, okay? Letâs count to 10.â
âThat, that w-wonât workââ
âAlright, letâs make it 5. Come on, we can do this. Weâll do it together. One.â
âNo, no, noââ
âTwo. Please, Hero.â
â⌠T-two.â
âThree.â
âThââ Hero gasps. âThrâ three.â
It takes a while for Hero to breathe even. A lot more than 5, or 10, seconds. Teammate doesnât let go of her hands, holding tightly and rubbing circles with her thumbs. Heroâs voice gets a little more controlled with every passing moment â eventually, her tremors slow. And once sheâs about as calm as sheâs going to get, she tentatively shifts to wrap her arms around Teammateâs neck. She clings to her like a lifeline, hot tears slipping down.
âThere we go,â Teammate says, smiling. âNow letâs take care of that cut.â
Dialogue promptâ "Just breathe."
"I know," she gasps. "I'm trying."
Caretaker tracing a square on Whumpee's back to help them exercise box breathing
"Take a minute. Breathe." "We have to go," they say urgently, scrambling to their feet, where they sway enough that they need to be steadied. "We can go in a minute. Just--please, sit with me."
Whumpee wakes up from a nightmare in which they almost drowned and now feel like they can't breathe
Panic attacks that leave her hyperventilating and in tears, but Caretaker walking her through a breathing exercise
Broken ribs. "I know it hurts, but you have to breathe as deeply as you can. There you go. Just breathe."

#art#ive literally just been treating this game as a library simuator#i walk from bookseller to bookseller opening up all of their books#vivecs sermons are either a highlight or the point at which i stop reading#ive been trying to convince the ordinators that imitation is the highest form of flattery but it hasnt been working#let me wear your helmets please theyre so funny..#posting morrowind in 2024 isnt a cry for help but youre not wrong to be concerned.#morrowind#almalexia#vivec#im going to explain the chitin armor give me a moment#so the bonewalker nerevar on the shrines is adorable and it was only after drawing it however many times that i realized#it looked relatively close to a modified chitin armor#and so i modified chitin armor a few times and this was probably the cutest result#i also know i drew almalexia relatively pristine and untouched by years and vivec not so much but my thought process was#vivecs role as if not a favorite then the most accessible divine or the most âhands onâ in a manner of speaking#acting in ways visible to the general population or actions explicitly brought to their attention#like not that almalexia isnt doing anything she is#but the dissemination of information regarding that is very different etc etc etc#anyways to a certain extent a god is the face on a shrine or in art or upon a statue or carving#but vivecs presence is interwoven with the geography of vvardenfell especially and his actions and writings with pubished materials#and the arts and culture and customs etc etc etc#so to me the face of a god you know and feel a commonality with or a god that walks alongside you is a face you would recognize#and vivec is already otherworldly looking enough#the simple mark of the years on his skin in some way grounding him in reality felt more right#that and i think the ways in which he and almalexia care about outward appearance are slightly different- they prioritize different things#and the ways they present outward power and their embodiment of their respective attributes share some similarities as they both have that#important preoccupation with physical power and physical strength to a certain degree#oh my god nobody read this i am yapping so bad.#tes

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.
Kamala 2024!
If you weren't going to vote Democratic in this election before Biden dropped out you're a dorkass loser who does not care about any of the issues you're yammering about here and also a fundamentally bad person, and I hope you get run over by a bus.
But you got one thing right in all of this gibberish, Kamala 2024.
#personal#answered#anonymous#i mean let's be clear here no president is gonna attempt to be progressive ever again within my lifetime#because joe biden tried to do like 25% of that and got ZERO fucking credit#he did so much on healthcare on reform on loans on so many social issues and for all his litany of failings on i/p#he has been distinctly harsher on netanyahu than a good chunk of dems and certainly the entire republican party#for the first time since i was four we are not involved in any wars as americans and that is thanks to joe biden#but the thing is that he gets no credit for any of it!#him pulling out of afghanistan caused his approvals to tank in a way that never recovered#and leftists gave him FUCK ALL for it#they gave him nothing they just continued whining that even tho he cancelled a bajillion in student loans#he didn't actually cancel a QUADRILLION dollars so both parties are the same and voting is the most arduous task known to man#no democrat who is running is going to forget that catering to leftist/progressive policies gets them zero leeway with those supporters#that it not only tanks numbers but you still get constant haranguing about it anyway#so they're not gonna do it#we are gonna get fuckall for at least a good fifty years#and anything we get will be utterly in SPITE of people like you anon it will happen in spite of everything you've done#mostly because of people like me and mine who understand that voting is the bare minimum#and that for the democratic process to work the way you want it to you need to participate and not pitch a fucking fit#like a four year old who was told they can't go to disney this weekend#like i know you ratfuckers are happy this played out because this is all a game to you and you don't actually care#but that's why i've got zero faith in you people and why i'm glad it's my kind of folks#actual die hard democrats who have always been hardliners for supporting democrats in every possible election#who are picking up the slack and donating to harris and supporting her agenda#which is the exact same as biden's because she's his vice president and they share they same platform#because that's what they were both running on! twice!#anyway fuck you please feel free to find a necktie and test how tall your doorframe is
