For the Elucien week drabbleathon, can I have Lucien finding out about his bio father and talking through his feelings with Elain?
ELUCIEN WEEK
DAY 7: FREE CHOICE
Okay so this is kinda funny to get this. I actually have this in my docs that's a multi chapter fic. The feelings bit with Elain is spoilery for the story itself so I can't share that...yet. But what I can do is show this part. Basically in this story, Elain finds out of Lucien's parentage through a vision and this scene below is what happens after that. It's set to be a few parts. Where Lucien deals with this information and then Lucien and Elain playing matemakers lmao. The chapter after this is where we deal with Lucien and talking to Elain I can tag you in it whenever I post this story to tumblr.
TRIGGER WARNING: very, very slight mention of child abuse
The three of them settled in the sun-lit room. For an office it was worlds different than Rhys' in the river estate back in Velaris. That room was a standard four walls. This one, Helion's office in the Day Court was a rounded room. Tall ivory columns wrap around the circular area. There were no windows, it was simply an open space allowing the sunlight and the warm kiss of its rays inside to dance along the tiled floor. Elain adored the sun peering in at every angle and the soft breeze that followed. She only wished they were here for better circumstances.
Glancing between the High Lord of Day and her mate, the resemblance was uncanny. From their posture, sitting regal yet with an air of recklessness to the silken strands of hair, matching grins, and the shape of their eyes. Mother above even their nose was the same. There was no denying her vision wasn’t false. They scarcely were.
When she told Lucien of seeing Helion and his mother, he refused to believe it. He was Beron's son unfortunately. His mother would never hide this from him. Elain pointed out to him that he did in fact cleave an unbreakable spell to come to her aide that day in Hyberns. No Autumn court member, high fae or otherwise had done that. Lucien attempted to pin it on the bond. Elain dismissed it bringing up his tendency to glow when in the throes of passion. The seer had once asked her sister if this common for faes to glow while being intimate. Feyre told her it was power from the High Lord of Day. Elain never could make sense of it. Why her mate glowed like a fire bug in the summer seasons until her vision. Lucien claimed it could be from a crossed lineage years ago.
“Lucien...you said you never felt like you were a Vanserra. That there was something wrong with you.”
“Maybe this is why. Because you’re not a Vanserra. We go to the Day Court and ask Helion says no then fine.”
There was panic and fear in his russet eyes when he looked at her. “What if he says yes?”
Elain crossed the threshold to her love taking his face in her hands, resting their foreheads together, her fingers lacing with his. “Then I will be there with you and together we will hear him out.”
With reluctance he agreed and now they were here, an awkward tension like a dense fog slowly filling the silent room.
Lucien leaned backed in the golden chair, hand flexing at fae speed on the arm of it, his equally golden eye whirring as it zeroed in on Helion. The High Lord's brows quirked up in amusement, a roguish smirk pulled at the corner of his lips.
"I've always wondered what that eye of yours could do. What it could see." Elain's cheeks flushed a vibrant pink, Helion's gaze fell on her offering a wink, "Petal." He purred, "Is it alright if I call you petal?"
The smile he gave her could turn someone's insides into liquid heat. No wonder he had as many lovers as there were clouds in the sky. She chuckled before answering, shifting in her seat, "Elain is fine."
"Ah, I see. We don't want to upset your mate and have him feel left out."
Helion turned to Lucien who remained silent and watching. A steely gaze on his father, Not father and his boots tapping with the same ferocity as his hand. Elain reached through the bond feeling wave after wave of anxiousness roiling through him. It was enough to make her feel nauseous like they were in a sea of turbulent waters instead of seated, far away from any ocean. His heart, she could tell, was battering so quickly Elain was surprised it didn’t fling directly out of chest. There was something else she noticed in the bond. Realization. He knew. And Lucien was not handling it well in his mind. Elain poured her affections down the bond then overlapping her hand with his. Sweeping a thumb over his knuckles. A silent statement to say, I'm here.
Elain smiled tenderly, noting the appreciation in his russet eye as Lucien glanced at her fingers. Sliding in between his own, squeezing them in reassurance. He repeated the action to her, holding tightly as if she were the only thing keeping him tethered to reality. Then his eyes met hers. The nervousness etched on his beautiful face softened. Her heart fluttered as it always did when he looked at Elain this way. Like she was his home. His comfort. His everything. Just as he was hers.
Helion coughed a bit too loudly to be real, breaking their moment, "I hate to break up this lovely storybook moment petal. If this is about the Pegasus who ate Rhys' shirt. One Rhys should come and two he left it in the stables. If you’ll excuse me, I do have a party to prepare for and guests will be arriving shortly.” Helion made to stand.
"Sit.” Lucien snarled. Helion’s eyes widened at the pitch and the bite of the one word. “We don't know anything about a Pegasus. We're here on our own accord." Lucien curtly stated.
The two high fae stared each down as Helion slid back into his chair. The fog thick tension is now so deep a knife could only strike it. Helion lifted a hand over his heart " Unfortunately, I don't take mated mates as lovers. I'm honored you thought of me to share your bed." He teased with a lovers grin. The fire in Lucien’s eye was a roaring flame. He was several seconds from exploding. Elain has seen him angry, furious, but nothing like this. If he wasn’t her mate, she’d be frightened at the burning rage beneath him.
"I find that odd. Being if Feyre or Nesta were here you'd take the chance." Elain challenged feeding off the energy her mate emitted.
"I-" His eye shuttered briefly before meeting Elain's again, "Sweet petal," he crooned before he could speak again Elain cut him off feeling Lucien's waring feelings churning through the bond.
"There's a reason you'd deny me. Us. I think it deals with a vision I had and Lucien." She gripped her mate tighter feeling his hand grow clammy yet white hot beneath her own.
Helion grew quiet, brows pressed together, his tanned chest rising and falling in rapid succession. Holding a stern gaze with Lucien. "Of?"
"The past."
Helion blanched, the color of his skin fully drained. All hints of the easy going High Lord faded into nothing. A mask of steel replaced it.
"What did you see?" His voice faltered, shaking and strained. He cleared his throat, aiming for a deeper tone in his voice. One that caused anyone to listen and obey. If an ominous storm with roaring thunder that streaked the sky in lighting had a voice it would’ve sounded like this. It came through gritted teeth in a low predatory growl. "What did you see?"
"You will not speak to her like that." Lucien snapped. Slamming his fists on the desks sparks of embers shot from his hands. Elain jumped back into the chair. Helion had the good sense to look startled for a moment, "Unlike you or my mother, she doesn't keep things from me." then Lucien added that and the steeled features returned.
It was Helion’s turn to stand and move for move copy his son’s actions. “Listen boy. I will rip your throat out if you insult your mother like that in my presence again are we clear?”
Lucien scoffed. Not the usual playful scoff Elain had grown accustomed to. This was laced with malice. “You don’t think I’ve heard threats like this before? My entire life? "I've been beaten for saying less.”
Elucien watched as the emotionless expression Helion wore quickly faded. Now his face crumbled. Pained with grief, the glow in his eyes gone as he stepped away from Lucien. Her eyes darted between the two. This wasn’t just protecting a secret she realized. There was love here. For the lady of the autumn court, and for his son. Her mate.
"I'm sorry." Helion let out in a defeated sigh. "Forgive me. forgive us."
For as fast as that heated anger ripped through Lucien, it seemed to to die down. Like the loud sigh for Helion somehow cooled her mate down.
"I-" Lucien turned to Elain unsure of what to do. Elain did not respond the whites of her eyes rolled up, her body falling back into the chair.
Mate.
The word seared in her head, when thrust back into the past, seeing Helion and the Lady of the Autumn Court together. As if her inner eye was speaking to her, revealing a part neither Lucien nor herself were ready for. Now she felt it. The golden spark tethering two souls. Pure, protective, unbreakable love. Seconds later she came back to reality.
Lucien no longer standing at the desk but kneeling in front of her. Calloused palms on hers while he searched her features.
“Elain?”
She didn’t look at him. Her gaze landed on Helion who took a step back.
“You’re mates."
“There are things bigger than telling you the truth. Stakes are high dealing with him and a situation like ours. This conversation cannot happen here.” Helion drew a finger to follow as he stood. “Ears are everywhere in Prythian. You should know this.” He fixed a sorrowful look on Lucien. “We will talk in my inner office.”

i went thru ur entire jotaro tag and boy am i LIVING-- i love your writing so much you're so faithful to how he would be with a lover behind close doors ;0; if it's alright, could i ask for a n/s/f/w request of a kinda small fem s/o with both jotaro and star platinum absolutely going to town on her, praising her for how well she's taking everything? cause let's be real that's A Whole Lotta Lovin' for a tiny lady to be given, even with all the prep in the world--
A whole lotta lovin that will be sated by the one and only Jotaro Kujo! Hehehe ;3 enjoy, nonny!
ALSO!! I’m honestly really happy that you love how I write Jotaro!! I do my very best to try and keep the way I write characters consistent and Jotaro is my favorite thus far,,,now I just gotta work on my actual writing consistency :’DDD
(There is N/SFW ahead. 18+)
There were heavy pants and groans that filled the otherwise silent room, your mouth was parted slightly as all you could manage were a slur of sweet nothings as you look up at your husband.
With your back nuzzled against Star’s chest, Jotaro had your attention on him while he and his stand held you up effortlessly while they were guiding their cocks in and out of you with a hungry need. He loved holding you like this, between he and his stand where he knew he could take care of you, give you want you want and deserve. Jotaro will spoil you with love like no other and it’s a side only you will ever see.
“Oh Jotaro it’s so much, you’re both so big!” you whine out. Daring to peek down, you are met with the sight of a bulge that comes and goes when they pull out and trust back in and Jotaro was fully aware that your mind was completely enamored with the way your belly was so full of them.
“Like how it looks?” He asks with a purr to his tone, dragging your eyes from what had you occupied to his own which watched as pleasure was practically written all over your facial expression “Because I certainly do.” He adds when you can’t bring yourself to respond with anything but a stuttered moan which was plenty enough for him to get the memo.
Star had snaked his arms around your sides and up to your chest where his large hands were kneading the supple flesh within his grasp. He was also keeping you close to him, his mouth leaving trails of kisses from your shoulder to your neck, stopping only to nibble on the lobe of your ear. It sent a shock throughout your body that started an internal growing need, a feeling buried deep in your core that was itching to escape and Jotaro was digging right for it. He wanted to see the faces you’d make, to hear cute noises that you elicit when he makes you cum, and especially the afterglow of the passion the both of you would share.
“Look at you, (y/n),” he calls out for your attention quietly, your gaze locking with his as he stops his trusting in order to grind he and Star’s hips up into yours, the action alone pushing both cocks prodding right into your cervix. “You’re doing so well for me and Star. Wouldn’t you agree?” He asks as you could feel them both moving so slowly as your walls squeezed them both which was your body’s idea of pulling them closer. You wanted more of them and by god we’re you going to get it.
“Mor..more! Please, I need you both so badly,” you managed to breath out finally, your arms finding their way around your lovers neck as you pull him in for a kiss. Jotaro happily returned it, his hands moving from holding your thighs to your hips while Star had moved to keep your legs hoisted up around Jotaro’s waist.
This short bout of time went by quickly as they were prepping you for the max amount of comfort and once the kiss was broken, you were already being pounded into by both of them. You yelped out with sudden pleasure as they took the quick initiative to continue to fuck themselves into your dripping cunt, their thick cocks hitting at all the right angles with such toe curling euphoria that you started to loose yourself to the motions.
“Come on, look at me, (y/n).” Jotaro’s voice pulls your mind back to the ground as you find yourself forehead-to-forehead with him as he continues to whisper soft praises to you, causing your cheeks to burn an even brighter red “Mmmmh..you’re so precious taking us both like this. So good for me and Star,” he huffs as his trusting becomes slightly erratic and out of pace, a clear sign he was close to his limit.
“I’m gonna cum! Let me cum, Jotaro!” You pleaded and there wasn’t much long before you were calling out his name in a chant like a broken record, your hole was stuffed full to the brim as Jotaro and Star’s hips jutted up and stilled as your tightening walls milked them of all their worth, giving you exactly what you wanted. You could feel as his warm seed filled what their cocks couldn’t before spilling out and dripping down your thigh, but they didn’t dare let you go.
The two of them peppered you in chaste kisses as you were still coming down from the high they sent you on, your form was a bit shaken up and that only caused your lover to pull you closer in his embrace. Jotaro would hold you there forever if he could, but all fun times have to come to an end. For now, at least.

Mando’s only command is to stay with him at all times.
He did not want you to wander or stray from his side.
You felt jittery with excitement. You agreed to all of his terms knowing full well you wouldn’t be able to survive without him. You can’t read, write, or even spell, so how could you make it on this planet?
Mando explained before you two left the ship that Nevarro is a planet of a bounty congregation that calls themselves The Guild. You know that means at least one person here will have heard about the missing servant girl from Aniri. Mando explained further that while he is a member of the guild, he is first and foremost a Mandalorian warrior.
You knew of Mandalorians, but not much else.
Venturing out to the town, clad in the leather jacket (which Mando insisted you wear zipped over your plain shirt) and by Mando’s side, you asked him many questions. Where would you go, what would happen? You wanted to know.
But mostly you wanted to talk.
You’ve kept your inner dialogue “inner” for too long, now, and you’ve decided you will babble to your heart’s content. Mando didn’t seem to mind. He answered all of your questions truthfully and without judgment. He understands that you lacked a proper education and he doesn’t make you feel bad about it.
He’s easy to be around, despite his often awkward bouts of silence.
His strides are a bit faster than you’re used to, so you catch yourself jogging just to keep up.
Nevarro is very sandy, you have learned. At least it’s sandy out in the middle of nowhere . You wonder why Mando would have landed the ship so far away from wherever he’s taking you, but you don’t ask him to explain. He’s in charge, you tell yourself, and that’s perfectly okay with you.
Your feet kicked up sand that irritates the back of your thighs.
“We’re here,” Mando said. You’d stopped outside the entrance to the sandy village, guarded by two men in uniforms you’d never seen before. Mando exchanged a few words with them, explaining he had business with the guild.
“Who’s the pretty lady?” One of them asked, pointing at you with a blaster. They have the same sort of modulated voice that Mando does. Your knees felt weak when you realized they’d been talking to you, looking at you.
“No one you need to worry about,” Mando gruffly replied.
Still, the man zeroed in on you. “Why don’t you let her answer me? Huh, gorgeous?”
You are hardly able to stammer out a proper response. Your knees wobbled. Gorgeous. The word here is a compliment, but you’ve gone your entire life dodging compliments. Being ‘gorgeous’ wasn’t good, not ever, it only causes trouble. As the soldier’s helmet bobbed down then up, you could tell the rules of beauty might not be entirely different on Nevarro.
“She’s mine,” Mando growled. “Are you letting us in or not?”
With a defeated shrug, the man let out both in. Mando ushered you with an arm around your waist, just barely there, not quite touching you, but enough to keep you safe.
The Nevarro village is filled with the same sort of soldier who’d given you a hard time at the gateway.
“Who are they?” You asked, careful to keep your eyes straight ahead.
“Storm troopers,” Mando explained. “They’re all—,”
“Imperial?” You guessed. You tucked stray hair behind your ear.
Mando made a confirming sound as he continued to usher you through the village.
“I often worked events for the court when they entertained Imperial officers,” you mutter. “Are the rumors about the war true?”
Mando nods.
“Everything you’ve heard about the Empire is completely true,” he whispered in your ear.
A sharp shiver rolled down your spine. You exhale a shaky breath.
“Left here,” Mando instructed, taking you on a sudden turn. The alley slips into a steep slope, where at the end is a large dumpster positioned beside a little metal door.
“Where are we going?” You finally asked, unable to contain your questions.
“Just follow me,” Mando pressed as he kicked open the creaky door.
You did as he asked, but with a sour feeling at the bottom of your stomach.
Through the door is a tunnel that runs long with stone floors. You feel almost at home, in the most inappropriate of ways.
“Where are we?”
“Underground,” Mando says. “I’m taking you to my people. They can protect you while I figure out what to do next.” He offers you a hand to help you maneuver between the jagged stone that scatters around the floor.
The warm leather of his glove soaks into your palm as you squeeze his fingers and step over the jagged rocks. The darkness deepens the more you walk along.
“How can you see?” You ask.
He pulls you out of the way of a rock you can’t see, pulling you close to his body. Nestled against his armor, all you can think about is the smell of his pillows.
“My helmet does more than hide my ugly face,” Mando whispered, a lilt of amusement somewhere in his words.
You bite your lip to hold back a laugh. So he does have a sense of humor.
“We’re here,” Mando eventually murmurs in your ear. His hand found your lower back and gently he pushed you forward. You step downward, onto a new setting of cobblestone that massages the arches of your feet.
Light came to your eyes, blinding you momentarily as you stumbled back into Mando’s arms. He helped you stay upright while you rubbed your eyes.
You’re standing amidst the underground world of Mandalorians. It’s a medium sized congregation of people wearing armor like your friend. The telltale sign is the helmet with the signature T visor and precise slopes around the jaw. Some armor gold, others blue, but all in all they are the same. Mingling into the crowd you feel unseen eyes on you. You curl into your Mandalorian’s side, heart beating painfully.
“It’s alright,” he assures you. His helmet tips down as though he were looking straight at you. “You’re going to be safe here.”
You’d been under the impression Mandalorians had an entire planet to themselves. You can’t say you know much, if anything at all, about them, but the rumors that did manage to spread around the Anirian servants made Mandalorians out to be practically invincible. It is why your king and queen hired your Mandalorian to kill that man.
Mando had delivered, and he’d done it in less than a day. You can’t imagine what a whole colony of Mandalorians can do.
“Well, well, well, look who decided to pop back in, hm?”
Mando stopped in his steps and groaned quietly.
He turned to look at the largest man you’ve ever seen. Your eyes trailed up and up to finally see this man’s crimson helmet. How could anyone be so tall? You swallowed a lump in your throat as you inched closer to Mando.
“Well, well, I see you didn’t do anyone a favor and abandon the planet,” Mando grunted.
The other Mandalorian laughed, booming through his modulator as he bent over himself to pat his knee. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? And who is this?”
Your face burns as the Crimson Mandalorian inspects you up and down with an exaggerated nod of his head.
“Djarren, aren’t you a bit old to be pickin’ up foundlings?” Crimson chortled. “She is pretty, but a little old to be a recruit.”
“Do you ever stop talking?” Mando asked, in that same stoic tone.
Crimson ignored him; you imagine he probably rolled his eyes, as he didn’t seem as intimidated by Mando as many others did. He held out an open hand in front of you.
You flinched away, half expecting him to grab you or drag you down the hall kicking. Rather than that, he just waited for you to do something.
“Don’t ya know how to shake hands?” Crimson asked.
Mando knocked his friend’s hand away. “Leave her alone.”
“Smitten, are we?” Crimson mocked. “I’m not so sure how the others will react to you giving away the covert. Where’d you pick her up, eh? You a Hutt whore?” Crimson asked you with a jut of his chin.
“A what?” You asked. It didn’t sound like a good thing to be.
“Leave her alone,” Mando grits out. “Let’s leave,” Mando says as he leads you away. “What’s a Hutt whore?” You asked Mando as you were escorted away. “Something you’re not,” he assures you.
Many heads turned your way as you followed Mando through the underground colony. You earned the attention from every Mandalorian you walked by; you’re not so certain, anymore, that it’s your lack of armor as it is your presence beside your Mandolorian.
“The Crimson Mandalorian called you Djarren,” you murmur, intertwining your hand with his.
He quickly pulls his hand away. “That’s my name,” he says stiffly. “Din Djarren.”
It’s a perfectly normal name but it somehow feels different.
You want to tell him it’s nice; only thing is, you’ve started to realize he isn’t your friend like you’d mistaken. He didn’t hold your hand and he didn’t even want you to know about his name. You fold your hands behind your back as you follow Din into the first room you’ve seen in a while. A burning sort of stove pillar lights up the entire room from the center, where something inside boils. Weapons hang along the walls, sharper and made with more intricacies than you’ve ever seen on decor, let alone on weapons.
Two Mandalorian women occupied the room, one donning gold armor and fur as she tended to the furnace; the other lounged in a chair, her legs kicked over a table with a sword strewn in her lap, which she sharpens at her own leisure.
The Mandalorian women inside are muscular and beautiful, even with their masks covering their faces. Aniri required servant girls to wear makeup to hide their beauty, but now you’re doubting it worked at all. You can’t see their skin but you’re enamored by their beauty anyways.
“Din Djarren,” the Golden Mandalorian says. “Welcome back.”
“Thank you,” Din replies. “Hello, Wendi,” he adds to the Blue Mandalorian that sits. “Din,” Wendi replies, her voice smooth as butter.
“I see you’ve brought a visitor,” Golden drawls. She sets down a large hammer on her work table, coming to examine you closeup. “I would suppose this is the girl you spoke of in your last transmission.”
“Yes,” Din replies curtly. “She was a slave in Aniri, condemned to execution.”
Wendi raked her stone up her sword with a sharp hiss. Sparks flew on her lap. “And her crime?” Wendi asked.
Three visors turned to you. You suddenly realized they meant to listen to you speak for yourself.
You’d never gotten the chance to explain before. You spoke up best as you could with your chest tight with anxiety. “I tried to escape the palace while also abandoning my makeup.”
“Your makeup?” Wendi cried. A laugh escaped her modulator as she tossed the sword to the cobblestone floor that had begun to pain at your feet. You felt increasingly smaller by the minute, especially as Wendi took to her feet and made her own examination of you.
“Awfully plain without this makeup, isn’t she?” Wendi drawled.
At your sides your hands form tight fists. “On the contrary, ma’am,” you muttered while your nails bit your palm. “I was told to wear makeup because I am beautiful.”
Wendi sniffed behind her modulator. “And awfully sarcastic,” she snubbed.
“I wasn’t being sarcastic,” you snap. Your heart jitters for a second, half expecting retaliation or punishment for speaking with such a tone. None came. You were in slight awe as you realized the extent of your freedom. “I only meant to answer your questions,” you added, softly now as you chew the inside of your lip.
The Golden woman lifted a hand to silence one of Wendi’s impending remarks. “I’m sure you’ve had a very exhausting two days,” Gold says smoothly. “Not to mention the complete and utter lack of proper clothing from Djarren.”
Mando remained totally silent, his helmet staring expressionless at Gold.
“Yeah, it’s almost as if Din’s never had a girlfriend before,” Wendi purred as she elbowed Din on his side.
Din tilts his helmet to her. “More than you have,” he says.
You never heard such jokes from Din’s lips! He calmly explained everything in full detail, then, from his bounty Kais Korren to the number of ships that chased him off planet.
“They considered Y/n property,” Din recalled, looking at you. You stared deep into the visor, unable to tell if Din is even actually looking at you.
“We have all heard of your stunt, already,” Wendi notes from her corner of the room. “As if we didn’t need anything else to be on the run for. I suppose now we’ll have to help fix your mistake.”
Gold made a fist, hitting it against her worktable, making Wendi jump in her blue armor. “That,” Gold says slowly, “is the Way. Mistake or not, Din Djarren is one of this clan and he will have help. Whether he asks for it, or not,” she adds.
Wendi crosses her arms over the dented chest plate. “This is the Way,” she agrees, although begrudgingly. “—but we do have other pressing matters, like it or not. This little girl just adds to the mess.”
You hadn’t realized that was what you were til now.
A little mess of a girl, as Wendi had so vehemently put it. You stub your toes against the cobblestone, feeling your chest pain grow as Wendi’s accusatory finger pointed you out.
While you failed to speak up, Din’s leather bound hands clenched. “She needs our help,” Din growled.
“Your help. You failed to think of your people,” Wendi snapped.
“I wasn’t going to let an innocent woman die,” Din replies. To his credit, he remained calm and level headed, which was not the same for you. Tears gathered in your eyes as you realized Wendi meant you had put her and her people in danger.
These people—these Mandalorians— all live underground for a reason.
You’re an outsider.
You quickly rub your tears away. Tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, you clear your throat. “I’m truly sorry,” you choke out, “for the trouble I must have caused.”
“You have not caused any trouble,” Gold soothes. “There are many ways we can ensure your safety. Anirians are vicious and they use their laws as their weapons. You were born into servant ranks and thus are considered an object of the court. Taking you off planet is the equivalent of taking their money or jewels. Each day that passes wears their patience. They are more likely to negotiate today than they will be tomorrow.”
“So?” Wendi asked, circling her hands around impatiently, trying to draw a conclusion in the air.
“So we don’t have a lot of time left for dallying about,” Golden concludes, her voice firm. “Before anything, Y/n needs proper clothing. Shoes even, if it’s not too much to ask for, Djarren?”
Din stayed still for a moment longer than you’d expected. “…Fine,” Din says, flatly. “You’ll be safe with our Armorer,” Din says to you. His voice lowered as he stepped closer, looking down at you with what you hoped to be tenderness. “I’ll be back soon.”
You nod, releasing the tension in your hands. You didn’t want Din to leave you here, not with these strangers.
You are sheltered, yes, but you are not stupid. You know you must remain unattached from Din Djarren. He saved your life without much thought; including the lack of thought concerning where you’d live and who you’d depend on. You don’t think Din had intended for you to be his friend at all. You’re actually not his friend in any way, shape, or form. So even though you felt ill at the thought of being left behind by Din, you did nothing to object.
“Okay,” you murmured.
You brushed a piece of hair behind your ear.
You tried not to watch Din while he exchanged hushed, last minute words with Wendi. Both helmets tilt to look at you. Wendi finally looked to Din and nodded.
“Will you stay with her?” Din asked.
The Golden Mandalorian nods. “She is safe here. This is the Way.”
You’re not certain of what the Way entailed, but it evidently provided you with your own lodgings.
You followed Gold out of the furnace room, struggling to not look over your shoulder and search for Din’s retreating figure. His armor blended with the rest, becoming lost in a sea of Mandalorians. You returned your attention to Gold. She doesn’t earn as many greetings as Din had on the way in; rather she got nothing. You couldn’t tell if she was disliked among her community or not. Given her well polished armor, you guess she could be in charge. It might be respect keeping her left alone; respect and maybe even some fear.
The sway of her hips and the sword that bobbed with them left you a little bit speechless. You’d never seen such armor. Aniri forbade women from being much of anything aside from servants; women were fortunate to be born into the court, where they were treated equally as men just because they’d been lucky enough to be born into rich families. Even those women, however, were not allowed to do certain things. They could not join guardian ranks; they could not leave the planet. Seeing that Mandalorian women can be so strong willed plants the smallest seeds of hope inside you.
As much as you’d love to be as strong and capable as Gold, you still feel so small. After all, you fidget your hands, unsure of how you’re supposed to hold yourself together as you follow behind Gold. Surely the servant position isn’t expected of you, with your head tilted down and your hands folded neatly by your lap.
You struggle to be comfortable in your own skin. You’re not entirely sure you enjoy living day to day without your makeup.
On the ship, with Din, it was alright. Except now you’re off the ship, where people are able to see your face. It’s strange to think you’ve been given freedom by people that don’t show their faces to anyone, either. Perhaps it’s just irony you’re experiencing.
Gold brings you to the end of the tunnel, which is just one stretch hallway. After all of the walking, you’re shocked to find that there is still more to the tunnel beyond the bedroom you’re being given.
The wooden door creaks open. Before you is the best room you’ve ever seen, despite its lack of space. There is a wardrobe, a mirror, a single cushioned chair, and a bed.
“This room will be yours until we have secured a home for you,” Gold says. She makes two paces across the room to the wardrobe. The old thing only has linens to offer.
The room is a bit small; the new brick walls and cobblestone floors give off an even smaller illusion.
“The covert does not conjoin for meals,” Gold continues, prim and perfect as ever. She puts the stack of linens in your arms. “There is a common room with food portions directly down this hallway. If you need anything, someone there can help. I am usually in the furnace. Din and Wendi have gone to collect for you clothes, shoes, and other such things. The women use the washrooms every night. Men use them in the mornings.”
She almost left before pausing, then turning to look at you again. Her golden visor aimed at your eyes. She says, “There is one rule. Do not leave the tunnel. Above ground are Imperial guards. They will arrest you without hesitation. If you find yourself in trouble and in need of help then yell for it. Din will be back soon.”
Gold departed, shutting the wooden door behind her. You were tempted to follow, but she didn’t seem like the type that wanted company. It must be a Mandalorian thing. Sighing, you hugged the linens to your chest. You’re eager to make your bed, even if it was small and lumpy. It’s soft; above all, safe.
Your linens smell old, but it’s a pleasant smell. It feels nostalgic of a time you couldn’t have known. You smooth the quilt over the mattress, trying to pat out any wrinkles with your fingers. Its a bit strange knowing the bed is yours to really relax in.
You aligned the quilt to the corners of the mattress.
Satisfied with the work, you gladly crawled under the blankets. Cuddling into the mothy pillows, you lay on your back.
The ceiling has a few cracks in it.
How had this tunnel been built? Why did the Mandalorian people not have their own village? These questions you had no guesses for; the new world you’ve been invited into is curious, and becomes curiouser every waking moment. It frightens you but excites you all at once, a feeling you’ve never felt before.
A knock on the door awakens you from your dreamless sleep. You sat up, vision blurry and mouth dry. Hours must have gone by. You stand, your bruised feet once more being pressed by the cobblestones embedded to the floor.
Your hand stretched for the creaky handle. Beyond the door was Din.
You didn’t know how to greet him.
Awkwardly struggling for the right pose proved difficult. Would he expect respect? Gratitude? Would he want something in return for what he had done for you?
“Hello,” you murmured, averting your eyes from the T of his helm.
“I woke you,” he said.
“You did,” you acknowledged. You glanced into your small room before shuffling back. “Come in,” you said.
Din entered. It must have been hours judging by the creakiness in your joints, but Din hadn’t changed out of his heavy armor. He set down a large laundry box on your lumpy bed. “This is for you,” he said.
You peered into the box. You were confused to find rolls of velvet tightly wrapped and stacked on top of each other. It reminds you of birthday presents, of the neatly wrapped boxes the princes and princess would receive yearly. You’d watched the opening from afar, never once imagining you’d have the chance to do the same thing one day.
With wary hands, you scooped up a roll of velvet, not looking at Din as you unfolded the cloth.
Shiny cuffs of metal shone at you from their soft blanket. “It’s pretty,” you say, stunned by the perfect roundness of the cuffs.
“They’re yours,” Din said, voice a bit stiff. “Armor.”
Puzzled, you cast a questioning glance.
Din approached, his leather bound hands wrapping around the metal. He slid the first over your arm. The cuff fit perfectly around your forearm, casting upwards to your elbow and ending at your wrist. You stared at the piece of armor in shock. Your face looked back at you from the sheen of the heavy metal.
“How does it feel?” Din asked, his hand still adjusting the cuff around your wrist. His fingers are warm even through the leather gloves. They rested on the inside of your palm as he examined the fit up close. Your ears burned at the feeling of his touch. Each little tap on the delicate skin of your palm tingled.
“It feels nice,” you said. “This, I mean,” you add.
Din notices you staring at his hands on yours, and he drags his hand away too slowly. The pads of his fingers left spots that burned on your skin.
“There’s more,” Din added, tilting his head up to gaze at the ceiling. He looked around at your small room before cocking his head to you. “Are you comfortable?” He asked.
“Of course,” you say, tucking hair behind your ear bashfully. A smile peeled over your lips as you glanced around your very own sanctuary. “I love it very much.”
“It doesn’t bother you how horribly plain and undecorated it is?” Din asked. He was clearly joking, but you became serious. “I have privacy and the luxury to do what I want,” you say. “That’s all I could have asked for.”
If Din was surprised, he didn’t say anything to display it. “I’m sorry,” Din finally let out.
You had been pushing around the box for other goodies and upon hearing this, you became startled. “You’re sorry?” You guffaw. “I’m going to be eternally grateful for what you’ve done for me,” you continued. You clutched the other arm piece close to your chest, glad to have something physical to keep you down to the planet.
“That’s just why I am sorry,” Din grunted out. “I’m not a good person to become attached to.”
You blink. Shocked, you slide the arm cuff off and set it loose on the bed. “I never meant to ‘attach’ to you,” you mumbled. “Thank you for the armor, and for everything else. I can sift through in private if you’d like to leave.”
Din left as you’d suggested.
Curious; Din is very curious. You wonder what he meant by the apology. Perhaps you had grown attached…it would be hard not to! After all, Din had saved you from Aniri. You’d only meant to show your gratitude. Like he had on the Razor Crest, Din once again rejected your gratitude. You suspected he would rather pretend nothing happened at all. He’d rather live his life without you in it.
The thought slashed your heart in half. A world without Din? You’ve known him for four days and he’s taken such care of you.
Being reminded of care, you returned your attention to the box on your bed. Enveloped in rolls of velvet were sets of shoes and new clothes. Among that, there were other pieces of metal formed in a way you could only imagine to be armor. Every piece shone and you suspected they were all brand new from the smell of slight smoke that lingered on them. But they were polished to perfection, allowing you to see every detail of your own face in them.
The soft tunics and the fitting trousers were a miracle to receive. Comfortable and, dare you say it, a bit stylish.
What truly took the cake were the pairs of boots. They rose above your ankles and laced up with red string that stood out against the black leather. You almost loved the shoes more than the socks! And the socks you immediately slipped on. They cushioned your skin against the cobblestone a bit better, but starting tomorrow you’d get to wear shoes like any other person in the galaxy.
The next morning you rose early and dressed neatly. You’d missed your opportunity to use the washrooms last night. They were reserved for the men to use in the morning, so you’d have to wait until night came to shower.
This did not worsen your mood, as you were very excited to wear new clothes for a change. You paired a baby blue tunic and plain trousers.
Wearing the cuffs and shin guards felt strange. You almost didn’t want to wear it as you feared the sort of attention it would bring, but you did remind yourself that the rest of the covert wore full body armor, including the helmets, on a daily basis.
If anything about you was to be found weird, it wouldn’t be your outfit—it would be that you are an outsider.
Over the tunic you shrug on the leather jacket, cuddling into the butter soft fabric. You stretch your hands through the sleeves, and the shiny cuffs are just barely visible from the cuffs.
You venture out of your room with a heartbeat that thunders in your ears. Drifting along the tunnel path are Mandalorians who casually wield weapons like blasters and blades that are taller than even you. Cautiously avoiding their gaze, you creep along the walls in search of the furnace. You hoped to find Din among the covert, but he isn’t anywhere to be seen. A clock would be nice to have. You can only assume it is morning. When you’d entered the tunnel yesterday, the sun was on its way down. Would Din be sleeping now? Would he be out, above ground?
The furnace only housed Gold, who currently wielded a knife and cloth, with which she polished the blade so it gleamed brilliantly.
“Good morning, miss,” you say softly.
“Good morning,” she greeted. She didn’t turn to face you, but she did set down her work. She cleaned around her work space, and you simply stood by watching in awkward silence. “You can have a seat,” Gold suggests. “Unless you’d rather stand.”
You took a place in the chair which Wendi had occupied yesterday, where she lazily played with her sword.
You shrugged out of your leather coat as you felt the heat begin to bother you. As you draped the jacket over the back of your chair, the Armorer glanced over at you.
“Do you like them?” she asked.
“What do you mean?”
“The armor,” she says, gesturing to your arm and leg plates with a heavy glove. “I made them the minute Djarren transmitted the message of your arrival. How do they fit?”
“Perfectly,” you say. You look at the metal that wraps around your forearm. “What is it?”
“Beskar,” she replies. “I do apologize for the lack of any other pieces.”
“Well, I should thank you for what you have given me,” you say, as you tuck hair behind your ear. The locks of hair gathers sweat on the back of your neck. You dab your forehead with the back of your hand. “I am confused, though. Why did I get armor in the first place?”
“You are in the care of the covert,” Gold explains. “This means we are responsible for your safety until you can be relocated. It’s only natural we give you a bit of armor to keep you safe. Although Wendi did give me hell for it.”
You crinkle your nose. Wendi must not be happy about your arrival. You suspect many would not be.
“Have you had breakfast yet?” Gold asks. You shook your head. “Would you like to join me in the meeting hall?” she then suggested. “It would give you a chance to meet the others.”
You supposed it would have to happen eventually.
Following the Armorer to the main hall, you fiddled your thumbs together.
Exposure to Mandalorians, to actual people, made you sick to your stomach. You’d never worn such tight fitting clothing. On Aniri you’d be called an enemy of the court, condemned to trial for indecency. It seems no one minds, though, as they all dress similarly. The Mandalorians that don’t wear armor wear trousers and tunics, often, however, donning some sort of safety plates on their backs or arms like you. While you feared being judged for indecency, the rational part of your brain knows you will be judged for the lack of a Mandalorian helmet. Every planet has those who fear outsiders. You don’t know the word for it, but it breaks your heart. The royal court hated outsiders. They joined forces with the Empire because the Empire feels similarly. How could someone hate another living being just because they were born on a different planet? You couldn’t understand, as you’ve never felt that way even after living your whole life on Aniri.
The question really dialed down to this: would the covert hate you for being an outsider, or would they fear the trouble an outsider might bring? The difference may be subtle, but it’s there no doubt.
The meeting hall did have several people filling it out. Most bore tunics and trousers like you, but still bore leather belts and cuffs. You recognized Wendi immediately from her helmet bobbing on the corner of the room. It had a delicate touch to it, the carvings of the metal curly and wispy. She didn’t have her blue armor on today, instead a black tunic with long sleeves and tight trousers that rose to her waist. You’d never seen such trousers before but you suddenly long to have simliar types. It was a marvelous outfit to wear, and the black danced with her gold wrist cuffs and knee pads.
Din Djarren is nowhere to be seen.
You wanted to see him and ask him what he meant, last night, about attachment. For some curious reason, the comment bothered you all night. It even haunted your dreams. Perhaps he rejects your reverence towards him. You couldn’t simply make the feeling go away. You’d feel that way forever, because Din had done something you could never do for him. You would never be able to repay him no matter how hard you tried. You want to thank him one last time, even if he didn’t want to hear it. He single handedly saved your life. Of course you’d want to thank him, right?
Gold offered you a seat at the main table. A large basket overflowed with food that made your mouth water. This differed much from the stale bread and leftover poultry you’d been allowed to eat back in the ranks.
You reached for a block of white cheese, tossing it over in your hand before taking a deep sniff. It smelled delicious. You took a tiny bite and lo! how your mouth watered. You had never tasted such flavor in your life, and this had been a single bite of a single square of cheese. You anxiously nibbled around the edges, trying not to let on how impressed you were with just cheese. Embarrassing, really. You’d be bullied no doubt.
The Armorer made conversation with the warriors around her while she supervised you as you ate. You were encouraged to eat as much as you wanted, but you hesitated to do that. Even when your belly felt filled, you wanted to keep on eating, half out of the fear you wouldn’t get an opportunity to again.
“So,” a voice drew behind you. “This is her?”
You froze. The hair on your neck prickled when Gold said, “Yes, although I believe she can speak for herself.”
You turned to look who had inquired about you. The Mandalorian that had given you a hard time yesterday towered over you in his crimson armor. As you looked up at him, he crossed his arm over his strapping chest.
“So she’s staying?” He asked.
The tips of your ears burned with embarrassment as Gold appeared to be glowering. “Ryder,” she snapped. “I’m certain that you were at the meeting last night. Don’t waste your breath with nonsense.”
You swallowed back the anxiety that plagued your chest. “Ah, yes, the meeting,” he said thoughtfully, as if he had just remembered. Although you had a feeling he was being sarcastic. “Where we all voted on killing the little girl.”
You buried your head down to your chest, chin quivering with tears as you felt guilt and overwhelming anxiety boil in your blood.
“I’m not a little girl,” you muttered, just quietly enough that you hoped Ryder hadn’t heard.
“What was that?” He mocked.
Something savage spurred across your brain as you rose to your feet, the chair you’d been in falling to the ground. “I’m not a little girl,” you said again. The quiver in your mouth had transformed into a sneer as you kept your chin raised to look Ryder in the eye. Maybe the anxiety you’d been feeling wasn’t anxiety at all.
It was anger.
With no one to punish you for “stepping out of line” you could express said anger all you wanted, and you started with Ryder.
A mistake, it might have been, as Gold had to use an hand to brace Ryder back by his chest plate.
Searing across your body was the wave of regret and mild, mild fear; in that mixture was a pinch of satisfaction. Standing up for yourself felt good. But you imagined a punch in the face from Ryder wouldn’t feel as great.
“Your vote was cast, Vizsla,” The Armorer reminded him. “I won’t remind you who the deciding vote was. You are obligated to follow your brethren in protecting Y/n or you can join Boba Fett and his fascist friends on Nevarro. This is the Way.”
Ryder seemed like he could be seething behind his mask, but you had no way of really knowing. “This is the Way,” he grit through his modulator.
Anger issues, you think as he stomps away. To the Armorer you quickly apologized. “I’m very sorry, Miss,” you tell her with a bob of your head.
“Do not be,” Gold said dismissively. “Vizsla needs to be put in his place, and you need to continue standing up for yourself. It is imperative if you want to survive.”
Stunned, you nodded. You see the honesty in her words, and while she might have been blunt about it, she was very, very right.
How curious the Mandalorians have turned out to be…
“I suppose now would be as good a time as any to walk you through our way of life here.”
You held out a hand, though it wavered, to stop Gold from continuing. “Before that,” you stutter, “could I ask just what ‘meeting’ you refferred to with Ryder?”
“Ah,” Gold hummed. “Last night the covert convened a meeting in which we all voted to keep you with us or to send you away. Ryder voted against it. The deciding vote was his elder brother, Paz. He voted for you to stay and I suppose Ryder didn’t like that.”
You sighed. You looked down at yourself, at the baby blue of your tunic and how it splashed like the ocean against your beskar cuffs. “I ought to thank you again, Miss. I am forever indebted to the covert.”
Gold tipped her helmet forward, leaving it inclined for a second too long. “This is the Way.”
The Way is what you will be grateful for even after life. Gold brought you along to the furnace after you grabbed one more block of cheese. She showed you the set of her metals. In sheets or in bars, she had a collection of beskar, palladium, ruthenium, and other metals you couldn’t keep track of.
“You make the armor for everyone?” You asked. You grazed the metals with your finger tips. What does Din wear? You resist the question as you thank Gold for her help today.
“I am grateful for the armor and for everything else,” you say, inclining your head the way she had done to you earlier. “Could I ask…where is Djarren? Din, I mean.”
Gold, while taking a thick apron down from a hook, replied, “I am unsure. I think he might be asleep. I haven’t seen him since the vote last night.” “How did he vote?” you asked. You hated the question as soon as it left your lips. But you yearned to know.
“He was very adamant that you stay,” Gold responded. “In fact he made a very moving speech. It’s the most I’ve heard him say all his life.”
Your heart fluttered with assurance. “Thank you.”
“If there is anything else you need, you might find it from me or in the gathering hall. Good day, Y/n.”
“Good day, miss.”
Shyly stepping out of the furnace and back into the hall, you kept your gaze strictly on the floor. Mandalorians threw lingering glances your way, but they didn’t seem to last as long as you feared. A long table lined the eastern wall, and over it was a stack of books. You’d never seen so many before. You’d never actually held one, either. As much as you wanted to pick one up and read it, you couldn’t; you’d never learned to read before. From where you’re from it’s common to hear that, but you suspect it’s not so common amongst Mandalorians. Another factor for them to ostracize you for. You approached the table to get a closer glimpse at the books.
Lingering around the book table was a taller man, in dark blue armor, and he inclined his head towards you as a greeting.
“Hello,” you stuttered. Your intial reaction is always to bob a curtsey when someone greets you, but those days are behind you.
“You’re Y/n,” the Mandalorian says, “aren’t you?”
You nodded. “I am.”
“It’s a pleasure,” he says in his deep voice, “to meet the famed madame. I am Paz.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Paz,” you returned his greeting. “Are you guarding these books because they might run away?” You asked. You half meant it, considering the heavy weapons the were strapped along Paz’s back and belt.
“Something like that,” Paz said. He laughed. It was strange to hear it! Din hadn’t made such pleasant conversation with you in the two full days you’d been on the Razor Crest with him. The Armorer was very formal and upfront, so she didn’t seem like the conversational type. Wendi and Ryder? They’re non-starters.
So you were sort of stunned to find that Mandalorians were, in fact, capable of laughter.
“What do you do here?” you asked, feeling breathless. Finally, someone you could talk to. You’ve never gotten to truly talk to anyone, ever! You’re filled with questions and hope that Paz could answer some.
“Among the covert we have our respective jobs. Titles, almost. I’m apart of the covert’s makeshift infantry. I usually guard and protect, that is.”
“And so the books are under your watch?”
“Sure. Not as prisoners, but as…well, they’re a bit like you. I protect them.”
“Why?”
“Because they were in my family for a long time. Most of them, anyways. Some have been bought by other Mandalorians here. Consider this the library of the covert.” He waved a hand across the table. “Would you like one?”
Gnawing on your lip, you shake your head “no.”
“I can’t read,” you admit. It was easy to say it to Paz. Paz did not laugh or mock the way Ryder or Wendi might have. Paz looked through the books on the table and picked one out for you.
“This is generally for children,” he admits as he holds it out. “The first pages are the alphabet. Memorizing those letters is the first step to literacy.”
Bashful, you look to the floor. “Oh, thank you. I can at least know the alphabet.”
Paz shakes his head. “If you’d like help, I will help. Before the covert I taught foundlings who were also illiterate.”
“Oh, I shouldn’t bother you,” you say, hugging the book tightly.
“It wouldn’t bother me. But I won’t bother you,” Paz says. “You’re welcome to come here at nights, if you want. An hour each day would surely catch you up.”
With a fuzzy feeling in your chest, you slowly nod. “I suppose it wouldn’t bother me if it wouldn’t bother you,” you admit. “I do want to learn.”
“Learn, you will,” Paz promised.
You could hear the smile in his voice.

Deal’s End (5)
Paris and desires are burning this day
(Read on AO3)
---
“Up and at em, love.” Felix smacked Marinette awake with a pillow. “Time for school.”
“Since when are you excited to go to school?” Marinette chucked the pillow back at him.
“How about you get up and stop questioning me? We got work to do and a boy’s bed to get you into!”
“Once again, I am only fifteen!” Marinette dropped out of bed.
“Don’t act like you haven’t thought about it.” Marinette tried to speak but Felix cut across her, “And don’t bother lying, you’re hotter than a desert for him.”
“Surprised you didn’t say hot as hell.” Marinette smirked as she went to get dressed.
“Honestly, it isn’t that hot unless you’re at the burning fields.” Felix caught the night shirt she tossed over the screen, “The whole place is more humid than anything which I think is almost worst. It is warm but it is also moist...I do not miss it.”
“Sounds gross.” Marinette emerged from behind the screen now dressed. “I’m gonna grab some breakfast, want me to sneak you anything?”
“A croissant.”
“Nutella to go with it?”
“Always.”
“Got it.” Marinette walked downstairs and ate her breakfast with her family. She smothered a croissant in nutella for Felix and walked out of the house. Felix followed shortly behind munching happily on his food.
“You know, if you just knocked on the front door you could come and eat breakfast with us. My parents never object to another mouth to feed.”
“Nah. This is fine.” Felix jammed the rest of the croissant in his mouth.
As soon as they stepped outside Marinette shrugged off her cardigan. “Nothing I love more than a late spring heat wave. Why is it so hot today?”
“Global warming?” Felix shrugged. They walked into class and it seemed everyone else was feeling the heat despite the air conditioning. Marinette pulled up the forecast and saw that it now predicted a heatwave for the next couple of days before dropping back down to normal temperatures. Looks like sundress season was coming sooner than they thought.
They sat down for class and Ms. Bustier started the lesson by announcing a project. They would be focusing on temptation in literature. Particularly, they were to focus on the classic literary theme of temptation: knowledge, desire and chaos used as a foil to innocence and youth. Such examples being the biblical creation myth, the greek Hades and Persephone myth, Christina Rosetti’s Goblin Market, and Spencer’s The Faerie Queen.
Marinette couldn’t help the look she sent Felix who was pleasantly listening to the assignment. Why did she have the itching feeling he may have dabbled with the lesson plan?
“We’ll be doing these in pairs.” Ms. Bustier pulled out a list, “Alya and Kim. Sabrina and Max. Chloe and Alix. Nino and Ivan. Mylene and Rose. Adrien and Marinette. Juleka and Nathaneal.”
Adrien and Marinette! They were paired?! What miracle was responsible for…
Her glee died down as she cast another glance back at Felix. He gave her a subtle thumbs up.
When she turned back around Adrien was watching her with a smile. “Looks like we’re partners.”
“Yeah, so it seems.” She smiled back.
After explaining the rest of the project Ms. Bustier let them get together to start working. Felix stood off to the side unperturbed by the busy students around him. The teacher hadn’t called his name during the pairings. How could she forget to slot him somewhere? Or more likely that was just more of his powers to influence the world around him so he didn’t need to do any actual work. Now that Marinette thought about it she never saw Felix do any assignments but he always turned in homework. Was he miracling his way through the class? What a cheater!
“I’m rather excited about this project.” Adrien took the vacant seat next to Marinette. “It’s so different from what we usually cover in class.”
“It is, isn’t it?” She forced a laugh. They went over the project and created an outline before the bell signaled the end of class. It was a short day so they only had a few more classes before everyone departed the school.
Marinette pinched Felix’s arm as they left. “Did you have something to do with the lesson plan today?”
“Who? Me?” Felix feigned innocence, “What makes you think that I would ever do something like that?”
“The exploration of temptation in period literature? You want me to believe that it was one big coincidence?”
“I gotta have some fun. Also, I worked hard enough creating that lesson plan last night while you were up in your room doodling. I was gonna see some fruition with it!”
“Wait, you actually created the project? You didn’t just put the idea in the teacher’s head?”
“I am a rather smart demon with an affinity for literature. I saw an opportunity and I took it.”
“Felix, the demonic teacher. It sounds like the plot of an anime.”
Marinette was in a happy mood as she ascended the steps up to her room. Maybe she could even work up the courage to text Adrien.
“Whatcha doing?” Felix peered over her shoulder.
“Trying to think of something normal to text Adrien.” She sighed, “You’re my wingman, help me.”
“Got it.” he took the phone out of her hands and turned it off.
“Felix! Why did you do that?” She gaped at him. “I’m finally taking some initiative to be social with my crush and you do this?”
“It’s too soon. You want him to text you first.”
“But--”
“Ah ah ah!” he shushed her, “You asked for my help and you are going to get it and respect my choices. Trust me. It’ll all work out.”
“I hope for your sake it does.”
“Ooh, scary lady.” He tapped the fan and turned it on. “Hmm, I have an idea in the works. I’ll come back to you.”
“Are you actually going to inform me about the plan this time?” she asked.
“I’ll tell you that part one involves you inviting mister perfect over here to work on your project tomorrow.”
“Alright, that shouldn’t be too hard. We do need to work on it after all. What’s part two?”
“Still working on that. But you need to make sure to leave at least a ten minute gap between when you get home and when he comes over.”
“Why?”
“Again, still a work in progress. Just make sure it gets done.”
“Okay.”
The next day after classes concluded Marinette did as Felix instructed and invited Adrien over to her house to study.
“Sounds good.” Adrien nodded. “I need to stop by my house first though. That okay?”
“Perfect. Drop by when you’re done.” There. Adrien was coming over and she had some time to kill before he did.
While Marinette was trusting that whatever Felix was planning was going to help she couldn’t help but add a little something to the afternoon. She had mentioned to her parents she was going to bring Adrien over to the house to study and requested that they make them a special snack. They knew how she felt about him so they were only too eager to help in any way they could.
After school let out and Marinette went back to the bakery she picked up the box her dad had prepared and went upstairs.
“What’s in the box?” Felix asked trying to open it. “Did you order something special for me for being such a great wingman?”
“You wish.” Marinette held the box out of his reach. “These are passion fruit eclairs with italian meringue that I asked my parents to make special since passion fruit is Adrien’s favorite flavor. So keep your hands off them!”
“That’s not fair! Just one!” He reached again.
“Back off devil boy!” She unlocked the apartment door. “If there are any leftover you can--oh my god why is it so hot in here?!”
“Hoo, yeah, it is definitely toasty in here.” Felix pulled on his collar. “I knew it was gonna be warm but damn this is better than I could have imagined.”
“You would like this.” Marinette set the box in the fridge to keep cool. “Remind you of home?”
“Vaguely. But this is all part of the plan.”
“Plan? Wait, did you turn off the air conditioning?” Marinette sneered. “Felix! It is a billion degrees in here!”
“I know, which is why you should change into something more comfortable.” He handed her a stack of clothes he wasn’t holding before.
“Are you dressing me now?” Marinette looked at the outfit choice. A pair of shorts and a crop top. “You can’t be serious.”
“I am.”
“I cannot wear this in front of him!” She threw the shirt at him. “Also, when were you in my closet?”
“That’s not important. What is important is that you go get dressed. Adrien may be here any minute.”
“I am not putting this on!”
“Listen, a little primal attraction can help turn the tide of emotion. At the very least seeing you in that outfit should put some saucy thoughts in his head which is a step of getting you out of the friend-zone.”
“It seems dirty though.”
“It’s not like I’m telling you to lounge on the couch in your birthday suit while smooth jazz plays. It is literally just a peek of flesh. Also, you two kept making those food puns yesterday so he’ll appreciate the shirt.”
“All This & Dim Sum.” Marinette sighed as she looked at the cute little cartoon of dim sum. “Fine. I’ll wear it. But I swear if this backfires I am going to invest in a holy water spray bottle.”
Despite her better judgement Marinette changed into the outfit. It was more of something she’d wear around the house by herself. Not for what was essentially a study date. Hopefully Adrien didn’t think it was too weird.
“Now that’s much better.” Felix smiled when she reappeared. “Looking hot, love!”
“Yeah, it’s a million degrees in here!” Marinette grabbed a glass of water.
“That not what I--nevermind.” Felix was looking a little feverish himself.
A knock on the door startled them both. “Lover boy is here.” Felix walked up to Marinette’s room. “Good luck, hot stuff.”
Marinette shook her head. He was so weird. She took a deep breath and braced herself as she opened the door. “Hey Adrien, glad you could come over.”
His gaze raked over her none too subtly and she noticed him visibly gulp. “Me too.” His voice broke and Marinette tried not to laugh. “Ahem, I mean uh…it’s kinda hot in here isn’t it?”
“The air conditioning broke. Poor timing for it too.” She shrugged. “But once you get used to it it isn’t that bad.”
“I’ll take your word for it.” Adrien stepped inside. They set up on the couch to work and Marinette grabbed them both something cold to drink so they weren’t dying of heat stroke.
Things were going well enough and they were getting a lot of work done. The only problem was that Adrien was intentionally avoiding looking directly at her the entire time. She knew it! This outfit was uncomfortable for the both of them.
“What are you doing?” Felix popped up next to her out of nowhere.
She yelped and bumped into Adrien. “Something wrong?” Adrien asked. He looked at where Marinette was staring but saw nothing.
“Uh nothing, sorry, thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye.” She laughed it off. She glared back at Felix after Adrien looked away. ‘What?’ she mouthed.
“Make a move already.” Felix said, “It has been painful watching you two dance around each other like this.”
She gave him another look as if to say, ‘What do you want me to do?’
“Put this,” he grabbed her hand, “here.” He placed it on Adrien’s thigh.
Oh god...what had he done? Adrien looked over at her with wide eyes. She couldn’t look away and curse Felix out for doing this. She’d look insane. Not that she didn’t look insane right now with her hand still on Adrien’s thigh and nothing to say! Felix put her in this mess and wasn’t helping her get out of it.
“Uh,” she removed her hand, “Would you like a snack?” Her voice was at least three times too high to be normal.
“Oh, um, sure.” His face was impossibly red.
“Cool.” Marinette darted from the couch to grab the eclairs out of the fridge. She passed Felix and shot him a dirty look. He was gonna get an earful later.
She plopped back down on the couch with the box in her lap. “Here,” she opened it, “They’re passion fruit.”
“Really?” Adrien shifted so he could get a closer look. Their legs were touching! “Passion fruit is my favorite.”
“I know.” Marinette smiled nervously. Adrien looked her back in the face with a smile that matched her own.
“I didn’t say anything earlier but that is a cute shirt.” Adrien pointed, “Did you make that?”
“This? Oh no, I bought it at this little boutique. Half the clothes in there have puns of some sort on them.”
“Sounds like my kind shop.” Adrien laughed.
“Yeah, if you want crop tops or bodysuits.” She grabbed an eclair.
“You...uh...you shop there often?” Adrien mumbled between bites.
“Why you wanna know? Want to see if I have matching booty shorts?” She teased.
Adrien’s face caught fire once again. Where had that come from? Felix was still in the corner and gave her a double thumbs up. She was hanging around this demon too much. He was rubbing off on her. She never would have dared say something so cheeky before.
Felix disappeared again and Marinette decided to cool off with the flirting.
They finished their work early and Marinette walked Adrien to the door. “Sorry about the heat.” She apologized, “But at least we finished the project.”
“Yeah.” Adrien looked her over one more time. “Hopefully next time I’m over the A/C will be working.”
Marinette’s heart leapt at the thought of him coming over again. “Yeah, totally,” She grinned. “I’ll see you tomorrow at school then.”
“See you.” Adrien opened the front door and ran into Felix who was waiting on the other side. “Oops, sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Felix shrugged and strolled inside. “It is a sauna in here! What were you two crazy kids getting up to?”
“Our project.” Marinette flicked the side of his head. “What are you doing here?”
“I was informed there was food.” Felix eyed the box of leftover eclairs. He grabbed it before looking back at Marinette. “Looks like the pastries aren’t the only snack in here. Looking good, Marinette!”
“Felix!” Marinette screeched. Adrien was right there!
“What?” he shoved an entire eclair in his mouth, “Adrien, lad, don’t you agree?”
“I uh…” Adrien looked down sheepishly.
“On second thought, she isn’t a snack.” Felix shook his head and leaned closer to Adrien, “She’s the whole damn meal.”
“Out!” Marinette shoved him out the door. “Take the eclairs and go!”
“Touchy.” Felix rolled his eyes. “I’m leaving. See ya!” Felix rushed downstairs and into the neighboring apartment he supposedly lived in.
“I’m sorry about him.” Marinette sighed, “His people skills are not the best.”
“He is certainly outspoken.” Adrien chuckled. “But he was right about one thing.”
“What?”
“You look good.” Adrien nodded. “You always look good.”
“Oh,” Marinette blushed, “Thank you.”
With that Adrien left leaving Marinette with a lot fo warring feelings in her head. She wanted to ring Felix’s neck for his interference but in the end it had worked. Adrien had been flirting with her. Adrien thought she looked good! She was gonna swoon!
“I think that went rather well.” Felix appeared next to her with a now empty eclair box. “Don’t you?”
“YOU!” Marinette seethed. “What was that! What were you thinking? Why did you put my hand on his thigh like that?!”
“Cause you weren’t making a move!” He snapped his fingers and the air turned back on instantly cooling the room again. “And look what happened. Everything turned out fine.”
“And your intrusion right at the end?”
“I was aiming just to get the eclairs before you could offer the rest of them to mister perfect. But I saw another opportunity to talk you up and I think it still worked out.”
“Whatever,” Marinette sighed. “I’m too sweaty and frazzled to deal with you right now.”
She looked up at him and swiped a bit of cream off his face. She popped the finger in her mouth licking the cream off. “I’m gonna get a shower.”
“Right.” Felix nodded furiously. “I’m gonna throw this box away.”
Felix quickly exited the room.
“Okay?” What was his problem? Did he forget there was a garbage can right here? He was out of her hair at least. She bound into the bathroom to wash away the grime of the hot afternoon. Tomorrow was another day and with it was most likely another plan of Felix’s that she needed to be ready for.

Fanfic I can’t think of a name for pt 8
Magda’s head ached fiercely as she got out of bed. The sun seemed to scorch her eyes, and she pulled her blanket over her head to hide her face from the light. She groaned as she felt the sun peek through her blanket slightly.
‘Gah… I shouldn’t have drank so much…’ Magda thought as she took the blanket off and threw her legs over the side of the bed. She gripped her head for a few seconds before her door opened.
“Miss Magda, Miss Felicity ordered you some medicine…”
Magda waved the maid off without a word, and she heard a light click as the maid put down a metal tray on her bed stand. Magda plugged her nose as she drank the liquid. Only for her face to unclench. It wasn’t...terrible…
It definitely tasted just slightly off, but nothing Magda couldn't stomach. She remembered the sludge of medicine that she used to choke down in the slums. Whatever it was usually worked if you managed to get a whole sip of it down without throwing it up seconds later. That horrid medicine, awful as it was, was cheap and usually came in big bottles. It was one of the only ways a girl at the bottom could have her cheap thrills without feeling like death was at her door the next day.
Magda felt her body surge with energy after getting the medicine down. Her head ache faded as a few minutes past. She breathed heavily as she curled back in her bed, this time being able to fully relax in the morning sun.
About an hour past before Magda heard the door open.
“Hey, Magda. Good news,” Felicity walked into Magda’s room and smiled at her brightly.
“Let’s hear it.”
“You have the whole day to yourself, mostly anyway. Ivan wants to meet up with you today.”
“Ah...where?”
“So, there’s this greenhouse….”
Despite the winter cold, the greenhouse was warm. Magda was nearly sweating from the heat, even though she wore one of her lighter winter dresses. Which still shielded her from the cold outside, but didn’t scorch her the second she stepped indoors.
‘I’ll have to get some summer dresses before spring hits,’ Magda thought to herself as she paced near the rose bushes.
“Hello, my lady. I’m glad you came.” A voice boomed from behind her
“Ah! Ivan! You came!” Magda turned around and greeted Ivan.
“Uhm….Magda...I-I wish I would’ve known you were a noble… I would’ve treated you better..”
“What? You were always kind to me, what do you mean? Anyway...what even happened to you? You just got up and vanished one day!”
Ivan smiled a bit as he remembered something...
It was him ,far younger than he was today, quietly packing his bags, looking out of the windows every so often. Hoping to see Magda just one last time before he had to leave. The silence of his family home broke everything inside of him down to a sliver of resistance. A once lively household reduced to a mere shell. Death and debt plagued his family. It had not helped that his father…..
“I’m sorry Magda,” Ivan said to the blonde girl in front of him, “My family. Well it wasn’t stable. At all, really.”
“Ah! I’m sorry I-”
“Nope, don’t worry. You’re fine ,my lady.”
“Ivan, just call me Magda. You know me.”
“Magda, I’m sorry. We don’t really know each other anymore.”
Magda felt her shoulders drop, and hints of anger building in her voice.
“Ivan, what do you mean? I’m the same Magda I was back then. Nothing changed.”
“I mean...you’re….” As much as Ivan wanted to say something else...something nicer he couldn’t, “You’re a nobility now.” “Does..that change anything?” Magda could hear her voice rising despite her attempts to keep her cool.
“No...I mean, yeah kinda. My lady, I’d love to remeet you.”
Magda’s anger burned into a blush as he smiled at her. Ivan looked at her blush.
“You blush at everything.”
“I do not!”
“You always did! Even as a kid if a boy ,or a girl for that matter, even smiled you blushed like a tomato. I remember you and Alan. Lovebirds.”
“We were nothing of the sort! What about you and that oren girl! Now you two were real lovers.”
“Coco and I were nothing more than friends-”
“Most of the time,” Magda pulled a fan out and covered her mouth to chuckle.
Ivan blushed and pulled the fan away from Magda’s face.
“Your cute Magda, Don’t cover your smiles.”
Pink? No, Now magda’s face was bright red at this point.
“Don’t make fun of me!”
Felicity looked down as she watched Magda return from her visit with Ivan. She felt her heart grow with some sick disgusting feeling. A growing void overtook her heart and left her chest empty.
“Oh, Felicity! It was amazing! He is just the same as I remember!” Magda hugged her friend tightly, “I’m so happy right now! You planned it all out for me. I-I I could kiss you right now!”
Those words struck Felicity’s heart hard. She forced a smile ,and hugged her …friend?
“Always, Magda. I’m always here for a pal!”
“I can see that! I owe you a big favor!”
“I’m not a debtor Magda, You keep your favor for now.”
“Ah...Felicity haven’t seen you here in awhile,” One of the many nobles Felicity had become... acquainted with greeted her. He held his hand out.
“No, not again. Do me a favor and leave.”
“Come on Fel~ We all know you can’t do much better than me. Why not?” He purred as he reached for her hand.
“Do you want to get punched again, I’m really not in the mood for this.” Felicity said as she stood up from her chair, the piece of furniture made an ungodly squeal as she moved it aside.
Felicity made her way out of the Tavern. She wasn’t in the mood for...him. She never was in the mood for him anyway.
‘I only got with him because I thought he was cool! It was nothing bigger than that!’
Her fist clenched as she started down the dark streets of Finsel.
Felicity’s confidence drained from her, her gotty make-up along with a shirt that barely covered her breasts and definitely didn’t cover her stomach once made her feel on top of the world, now it was only a reminder of everything she wasn’t. She was a noblewoman, she had more money than she really needed, and she even had the illusion of a family. She lacked almost everything else, confidence, beauty, a nice voice… She looked down at her body. The one thing she lacked now was true freedom.
She quickly began to speed walk home. She heard the distant whirrings of machines, and horses hooves clicking on the cobblestone roads.
“Ms. Ellenstein?”
As soon as Felicity heard the voice she quickly turned around. It was Alan. The blondie from the guards.
“You scared me! Don’t do that!”
“Aren’t you cold? It’s the middle of winter…”
“Nah, it’s all good. I’m just heading home.”
Felicity felt comfortable around Blondie. She never felt his eyes drift away from her face or eyes. No matter how seductive she thought she looked he never looked at her as anything other than a noblewoman.
“Alan, why are you even out here?”
“Just...patrolling..” Alan’s eyes went to the road for a few seconds.
“Bull. I know you’re up to something. Come on! What is it?”
Alan reached into his pockets and brought something shining out of it.
“M-Ms. Magda left her earrings at the last ball! I wanted to return them to her…”
“You sure you didn’t steal them?”
“I-I would never! Felicity please understand-”
Ivan failed to listen to the rest of the conversation. All his thoughts were about those earrings….
“Ah, the two Ellenstein sisters, how lovely!” Ivan cheered as he handed Felicity a drink and at least tried to give one to Magda.
“Thank you, Ivan. I uh...learned my lesson.”
Ivan smiled a bit, as he put the drink back on the plate he was carrying. Felicity gave Ivan a small wink as he departed, he winked back.
“What was that all about?” Magda asked.
“Nothing, I just like the drinks he gives.”
“I’m talking about all the winking. I’m not as naive as you think I am.”
“Ah, well he’s growing on you isn’t he?”
“W-what?”
“He’s not just a friend is he?”
“Huh!? We are just friends. Nothing more nothing less.”
“I have a hard time believing that, Magda.”
“Well, I don’t have any feelings for him. He’s very sweet, but…. I can’t see him as anything more than a friend.”
“You’ve gone on what? One date? It may change!”
“Felicity...I already…”
“Whoa whoa there! Who is it! Girl code! Girl Code!”
“You already have it narrowed down to two.”
“If it’s not Ivan it’s either Alan or Xavier. Alan, isn’t it? I don’t even think you’ve met Xavier yet he’s been gone for like 3 months.”
“Yes..” Magda blushed a little bit as she knew Alan was going to be at this ball.
“Oh, Don’t be embarrassed! Every noblewoman or noble thinks he’s at least a little cute!”
“I actually knew him before I was brought into the Ellenstein family.”
‘Brought in?’ Lynna thought as she hid behind a wall, obscuring her from being caught and humiliated by the Ellenstein sisters.
‘Magda acts as if she’s nothing but a stray dog.. I need to find giulolo. She’ll know more about this.’
The green lady walked away in search of the redheaded Oren girl. As much as she didn’t want to admit it, she knew those Ellensteins were becoming more and more prestigious. They had even been invited to the senate in just one year. It had been over a year since Magda was found, and Lynna still found it all too convenient. How on earth did Eliza find her twin in such a place as Finsel? There was no way that after over 10 years of searching they just happened across her while looking for a maid.
‘There’s no way...not a single way! Magda is a fraud! I know it!’
Lynna walked around the overly crowded ballrooms. People seemed to be shoulder to shoulder, she put her arms to work and started pushing people away from her. The small Redhead was already speaking to somebody. A blonde girl whose name Lynna didn’t care to know, and never would.
“Giulolo, a moment,” Lynna demanded as she hip-checked the blonde girl away.
“Ah, Miss Lynna, what do you need Giulolo for?”
The blonde girl protested at Lynna.
“You have no right to shove me away!” the noblewoman pointed her finger in Lynna’s face
“Quiet! Little noble! Now leave, you aren’t wanted here!”
The blonde huffed as she sashayed away from Lynna. Even a lower noble knew that it wasn’t worth the battle for an oren’s attention.
“Well, Giulolo. How much do you know about this...Magda Ellenstein?”
“Well, she was born to unknown parents-”
“I knew it!” Lynna had already began to celebrate in her head.
“Who was then revealed to be Eliza Ellenstein when she turned-”
“Get to the point, Oren!”
“Ah! Miss Lynna is scary… Well uhm… she grew up in the slums after being kidnapped and now she’s returned to her family.”
“There has to be some more information! Anything!”
“Unfortunately, since Magda was kidnapped and grew up in the slums Giulolo has little to no information on her… She did wear some earrings that-”
“Ugh! I don’t care about her stupid earrings!” Lynna whined as she walked off without saying goodbye to the Oren girl.
‘I’m gonna find out what’s up with Magda. She isn’t a noble! She can’t be!’
Magda’s dress spun in the wind that blew through the ballroom. She looked like a rose in full bloom. Alan wasn’t the only person to take notice of it. He saw a few others looking in her direction. He knew he wasn’t the only man who thought about her, but in a bad way of course!
“That Magda girl really is a beauty!” One nobleman said as he smiled towards her.
Alan didn’t flinch at these comments even a single bit. They were true after all. She was the true beauty of Finsel. At least to Alan she was, anyway.
“Imagine being her. All that attention! Must be nice!” A noble woman walked down the stairs said to her, probably, sister.
That comment didn’t phase him either. It really must be nice being nobility….
“Hm… imagine that. Being so pretty, and yet so naive ...” One man looked at Magda with strange eyes that Alan was all too familiar with.
Those words made him perk up slightly. It wouldn’t be the first time he had to kick somebody out of a ball, but more or less he was curious about what they were going to say about her..
The man looked over at a boy who had to be around Alan’s age if not a bit younger. The boy looked up at his brother? More likely his father, but still.
“How to you feel about her?”
“I uhm…” The boy shuffled uncomfortably, “She’s kinda pretty I guess?”
“Listen kid, she’s the talk of Finsel right now. You have to at least try to make a move on her before it’s too late!”
“But she’s older than me…”
The talk between the two kept going for a few minutes before Alan tuned out of it. It wasn’t every day that Alan took advice from a complete stranger, but he came to learn that they sometimes are smarter than the playboy Alan used to go to for advice.
“Lynna, go to sleep.”
“Mother, this is important!”
“DID I STUTTER?! I won’t have you seen with peasants! You’ve made enough of a name for yourself today!”
Lynna flinched at Tilla’s words. She raised her hands to her face for a second.
“N-no...I-”
“Don’t even continue. If you have bags under your eyes tomorrow ...”
Before Tilla could finish her sentence Lynna was under her covers and curled up.
“Good,” Tilla shut the door loud enough to shake the windows.
‘If I’m quiet enough I can sneak out of here…’
The night was dark and frozen, but Lynna felt the heat of both hatred and curiosity in her head. She discarded her nightgown in favor of a slightly warmer coat and gown. The gown was brown, all Lynna would have to do would be to steal an apron from a servant. That would be easy enough. Her footsteps were near silent down the hallways and stairs. All she needed to do was-
“My lady, what are you doing up so late?”
Lynna’s heart jumped then softened as she saw her favorite person, her servant….
“Shh! Quiet, I-I have a favor to ask of you Lawrence.”
“Anything, My gorgeous radiant star-”
“I need you to get me an apron, don’t ask! Just go grab one and hurry back. I ca- I can..make it worth your while, I promise!”
“Lynna, you don’t owe me a-”
“Lawrence! Just go.”
In just a few minutes Lawrence returned with an apron. It was dirtied with mud and stained with something reddish...
“I’m sorry I could not find a clean-”
“Perfect!” Lynna snatched it from his hands and strapped it around her waist. She pulled Lawrence down her his level and kissed his cheek before disappearing into the darkness of the hallways leading to the front door. She felt a small spark in her heart afterward.
‘Perfect now all I need to do is-’ She paused, she snuck out of the house.
She did something her mother could not stop.. She escaped….

BED OF CHAOS - 73
its just some vines that sometimes set on fire!! If it were still the witch of izalith she would be probally in the 20s as shes a good person who tried very hard to help the world but in this state... u cant even kiss her!
FRAMPT - 72
better than kaathe but the whole no lips and being a manipulative snake monster really throws me off and shoves him down at the bottom
FINA (GODDESS OF LOVE/BEAUTY (?)) - 71
(mentioned character - no image sorry :-( )
Listen as much as im all for love, this is love u dont want ! just trust me dont be lautrec dont do it you dont want to kiss fina listen to me. please dont kiss fina.
VINCE AND NICO - 70
way of the white members are NOTABLY unkissable but these guys. are just so boring. theyll be your white bread boyfriend as neil would say... bad kissers and bad people!
LAUTREC - 69
aw fuck wait can i make another character 69 he doesnt deserve it. anyways not only is he not over his ex (fina) hed probally gut you and steal your lunch money half way through the kiss anyways so whats the point . thats not how u treat a lover idiot

Asylum Demon + Demon Firesage + Stray Demon - 60
more kissable than some bosses, but still not the greatest lips. good butts though on all of them.... so i guess thats fr u kinky people
SNUGGLY THE CROW - 59
(no image shes a crow)
please stop drawing her as an anime girl shes literally just a grow that likes warm things oh my god you freaks be nice to her
BIG HAT LOGAN - 58
hes hard to kiss around the hat! and on that note hes pretty much taken with his obsession with seath. good luck! hes nice though so better than most of this list so far
GAPING DRAGON - 57
ranked so high because past its giant underbelly of teeth and destruction is this very tiny head which i think is so funny i cant help but want to kiss its little snoot.... hehe baby
PRINCE RICARD - 56
oh now were actually getting into kissable range! ricard is a prince (maybe even of astora... kissability increase.) so his high ranking might get you some kissability points, but the hollowing is gonna lower that. 4/10 no kissable lips!
4 KINGS - 55
whats better than a prince..... a king... whats better than a king.................. 4 KINGS! just watch out for their overly anime spiky armor and the fact their in a never ending void nightmare but they do have faces so thats points above the rest!
SALAMAN - 54
(mentioned character only! sorry!)
hmmmm we dont learn much about him other than he was close with quelana and he was ............ hot! hes a pyromancer. being of the great swamp pushes him down a bit because he prolly smells like his name sake but u know what ! maybe hes cute! we cant be sure! hes in the running at least!
TAURUS DEMON - 53
hmm... bad lover.... good kisser................................................... the things i do for big beefy demon love.
GOUGH - 52
While you cant kiss gough cus all the sap in his helmet i cant bare to put him lower than he is hes just so sweet. a kiss on his helmet because i love him so much
NITO - 51
while he cant kiss back, nito deserves a kiss or two! plus he has a lot of hands so u can hold his hands and be hugged at the same time and u know what that might be just as good as a nice kiss. good on you nito!
STONE DRAGON - 50
again a non kisser........ damn beaks! the stone dragon does need a kiss though. they havent seen another living soul in years down in ash lake! so im giving them points on that alone.
VAMOS - 49
like the last two.... no lips! vamos though makes up for it in his charm and wit, and his exceptional skill in smithing! so even without lips to kiss, you still should kiss vamos! hes a good friend
ARIAMIS - 48
(mentioned !)
wow... a painter! and a skilled one at that! this man created the painted world used to keep priscilla safe and that is so noble it gives him points right off the bat! i feel like though, as an artist, he might be a bit weird about it. so watch out and be safe, but in the end, get free art and some free smooches out of him!
ELIZABETH - 47
thats my mom ... of course she gets a good cheek smooch for all her hard work keeping dusk safe!
DOMHNALL - 46
i love domhnall hes a good guy whos trying his best but also his mask is so fucking goofy i dunno if i can do it .
RICKERT - 45
as much as i think rickert would be a good kiss (hes smart, cute, and skilled!) he is trapped behind some bars willingly and probably wont let you in. i can dream though!
CEASLESS DISCHARGE - 44
if theres any boss that NEEDS a kiss its him. poor dude lost all his family and was turned into this laughing stock of a creature. youd probably burn your lips but .... please just be nice to him :-(
SHIVAS BODYGUARD - 43
ooo a strong yet silent type.... hes even cute under his mask! good kiss, but i feel like he might just care more about his actual job than a kiss ! hes dedicated !
CIARAN - 42

Dog Bakugou & Kirishima X Reader
I don't really think I'm allowed to call this a headcannon anymore because of how long it had gotten. It resembles an actual story more but because most of the lines aren't exactly true sentences and everything is described in light to medium detail I'm just going to call it a very VERY long headcannon. I apologize for how long this got but the ideas just kept flowing into my head. I wasn't able to edit this as this took me hours to write already I just didn't want to do it, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes I may have made. But with that said I really do hope you enjoy my story-thing.
----------------------
• Bakugou and Kirishima were turned into dogs because of someone's quirk
• On accident though
• It happened when they ran into a lady who was being chased by a dog
• And since her quirk forces whomever she touches to turn into whatever animal she was thinking of the time caused them to turn into dog
• Bakugou is a Pomeranian and Kirishima is a Dutch Shepard
• You being the animal lover you are you volunteered to take care of them
• The quirk user said they'd be stuck like that for probably at least a week as her quirk can stay in affect for a very long time and she was terrified
• The poor lady had a phobia for dogs
• You had gotten permission from the principle to keep them in your dorm to keep them from getting in trouble
• The first couple days were awkward as boundaries were established
• Kirishima settled in fairly quickly but Bakugou obviously didn't want to be there
• DOG HAIR EVERYWHERE
• You didn't exactly know what exactly to feed them since you were sure they didn't exactly want to be fed dog food
• You ended up googling what dogs could eat
• You ended up feeding them meat and whatever vegetable was healthy for a dog
• You had to walk them every morning, before you enter to school and before you went to bed
• After you came back from school you would take them out into the Commons area or sat outside, letting them do as they pleased while you studied
• You had to keep all your notes and make your notes very detailed so when they did turn back they could look at them and understand
• You gave them a lot of affection
• As you still are a big animal person you couldn't help yourself
• Lots of doggy kisses and hugs
• Kirishima didn't mind much and would definitely be up for doggy cuddles and hugs
• He would place his head on your lap, which most times you don't mind but when he lays down on your text book it gets kinda obnoxious
• Bakugou starts biting when you try to give him doggy kisses
• Secretly he likes the attention, especially the hugs
• He'll get jealous when you give a lot of attention to Kirishima but he'd never admit it
• He'd just attack Kirishima to get him away from you
• Lemme tell you, just because he's smol doesn't mean he's not ferocious
• Their quirks are still activated but they're a lot lower of a level
• So expect to get blasted at first from an angry Pomeranian when you try to give love and to get a couple scratches as Kirishima gets use to the new body
• Of course they sleep in the bed with you
• They were still humans at one point and you didn't want to male them sleep on the hard, cold floor
• Kirishima would sleep very close to you, sometimes with his head laying on your chest
• He's a big cuddlerer and of course
• Bakugou would sleep as far away from you and Kiri as he could get
• But in the mornings you'd find him snuggled up to your side and if your laying on your back you'd find him on sleeping on your chest
• You'd smile and softly pet the two until its time to wake up
• Most of the time Bakugou wakes up from the petting, growling and nipping at you, but not moving away from your hand
• There was a time while walking them and a wild German shepard started charging at you from across the street
• How quickly they were able to take it down surprised you
• Before you could react Bakugou launched over the dog and blasted it's back, making it fall on its stomach in what you could only assume was shock
• Before it could get up Kirishima pinned it down in his unbreakable form
• Lemme say it was pretty scary look for a dog and I think the German shepard agreed
• It didn't try to fight, not like it could move Kirishima anyways
• Bakugou stood closely beside you growling and explosions coming from his front paws, damaging the ground
• Who would've thought a small pomeranian could be intimidating
• Both somehow able to shread or completely burn their leash
• You stood in shock for a couple moments before you called animal patrol
• When animal patrol came they were confused on what was happening, animals with quirks? What has thus world come to?
• They started panicking and pulled put their tranquilizer guns, yelling at you to step away from the dogs
• Your face filled with fear and you also started panicking
• You yelled at the people saying that they weren't the problem, and it was a long story
• ... Let's just say you were very late for class as you had to explain the whole story to them to get them to back down
• The fact that the two didn't back down from them either, especially Bakugou, just made things worse
• Aizawa understood though
• Well you thought he did, he could've just not have cared of the reason why, just that you were finally here
• Cause we all know he secretly cares for all of his students, even if he'd never admit it
• Todoroki and Momo were nice enough to lend you their notes for the class you missed
• Not that you asked for Momo's notes but you were grateful none the less
• When you got back to your dorm the boys were sitting by the door and when you opened the door they were immediately at your legs
• Kirishima was sniffing you as if checking to see if you were okay
• Bakugou was just sitting in front of you staring at you intensely
• When you tilted your head and gave him a huh he seemed to lose interest
• He, somehow, scoffed and walked away
• You walked in and looked for their leashes so you could take them for a walk only to remember that they destroyed them earlier that morning
• Groaning, you decided that you had to trust them not to run off
• Though you didn't feel like you could watch both of them at once as they tend to do whatever they want, especially Bakugou
• So you decided that you ask your close friend Todoroki to help watch them
• Granted you knew that Bakugou probably wouldn't enjoy it but you figured if he was to busy thinking of ways to destroy Todoroki he'd be to detracted and stay out of trouble
• So off you went
• Todoroki agreed to help you since he knows how prone you are to bad luck and will most likely end up losing on of the dogs and end up having a panic attack, even when you knew that the two know how to get back to the dorm and you'd stay close to campus for the walk
• Though you ended up enjoying the walk yourself, you had a nice conversation with Todoroki even if he didn't say much, you were use to it, you don't think that Bakugou enjoyed it that much, but Kirishima didn't seem to mind much
• You went back to the dorms and you noticed that Bakugou looked like he was bruting
• And holy crap was it cute
• You picked him up and hugged him, calling him a cutie and saying how adorable he was
• He might have, okay to totally, bit you because of that but it wasn't extremely hard and wasn't unexpected so it didn't affect you that much
• But you did out him down
• After giving him a doggy kiss of course
• You played around with Kirishima for a while
• Also giving him doggy kisses, just a lot more cause he seemed to enjoy them
• You decide it was time to eat and fed then
• You studied for a little while before taking them out for their night walk, this time bringing along Ashido since she wanted to go
• Afterwards you snuggles with the dogs, mostly Kirishima but at least Bakugou was now sleeping closer to you having warmed up to you and the situation
• It has been around 3 weeks since they turned into dogs and you still couldn't tell if they were going to turn back soon or not
• You got that answer when you woke up to a heavy weight on your chest
• You had looked to see what it was and saw a half naked human Bakugou, well mostly human as he still has ears and a tail, laying on your chest in only a pair of boxers
• He'd probably moved there as in his tiny dog form not expecting to transform back into his human-ish form
• You had to push him off so you could breath which woke him up
• And he was not happy
• His yelling woke up Kirishima, who had also turned into a half naked human with dog ears and tail, who was sleeping at your side
• Neither if them realized they turned back until they made eye contact and realized the other had turned
• Kirishima panicked at first while Bakugou kinda celebrated by yelling 'hell yeah'
• They both went back to their rooms to get cleaned and change while you went to go find Mr. Aizawa to tell him they had turned back, kinda
• They both came down to the Commons area a while later
• Both of them looked awkward which was probably because of the tail with the pants
• When the rest of the class saw them they literally started letting them, which they did do when they were dogs but it looked kinda weird now
• Kirishima didn't seem to mind much but Bakugou was PISSED
• Oh he couldn't wait til training so he could kick the crap out of them for this
• Went it came to to start leaving for school you left the dorms, both of them following behind you
• At first they didn't think anything of it but then they realized they were following you like dogs after they saw you looking at them with a raised eyebrow
• Kirishima got flustered and apologized while Bakugou just 'tch'ed and walked ahead of you, though he still stayed relatively close
• You thought you saw a vague glance of blush in his cheeks when he passed by
• They did still follow you around all day though
• You got so many weird looks
• I mean they would have gotten weird looks because of the ears and tail but because they were following you around it made it look like you had two dogs by your side and you were their master
• While that technically was the case before, it doesn't matter right now
• They even followed you to your room after school
• You gave them the weirdest look when they were still behind you went you tried to enter your room
• They scattered to their own room pretty quickly
• A couple hours latter though you hear a knock on your door that interrupts you from cleaning the dog hair that was LITERALLY EVERYWHERE and went to go answer it
• Kirishima was at the door asking you to help him with the notes from class you took for them
• You agreed and helped him study
• You were studying for about an hour before your door swung open and Bakugou walked in, no knocking or anything, just waltzes right in
• He freezes for a second when he sees you and Kirishima at the desk together
• He growls quietly before walking over to your bed and laying down
• You ask what he need and he just grunts, not even looking in your direction and pulls out his phone and starts doing whatever in it
• You sit there confused for a second before deciding to ignore him for the time being
• You continue to help Kirishima with his work
• You made really good progress with Kirishima before you decided to head to bed
• Only to notice Bakugou was still on your bed, his eyes lazily drooping, focusing in and out if whatever he was looking at
• You stand over your bedside staring at him until he finally acknowledges you
• You ask him why he's still here and tells him that he should go to his room if he's so tired
• You gives no response, only stating at you before suddenly grabbing you and pulling you onto your bed
• You give a light screech at this
• You end up on your back with Bakugou laying his head on your chest
• You ask what he was doing and he only tells you to shut up and that this was your fault
• You were going to ask what he was talking about when you noticed Kirishima staring at you from your desk
• He was giving you puppy eyes, whether they were intentional or not you didn't know
• You sigh and realize that he want to join and sleep with you like he's been doing for the last couple weeks (stop it you impure children, I didn't mean it like that)
• You swing your free arm out towards him, telling him is was okay to join on the bed
• His eyes might up and his ears perk up and his tail wags
• Which was cute AF
• You stop him right before he reaches you
• He gives you sad and confused eyes, he ears and tail dropping
• Your heartbreaks at this and you tell him that it's okay and that you just want him to turn off the lights
• He starts beaming again and quickly turns off the lights and joins you on the bed
• He snuggles to your side just like he did when he was a dog
• Sleeping like this became a regular occurrence for a little while
• But it slowly stopped becoming a thing, especially when the tail and ears finally disappeared and the clingy dog nature left their body
• You still hung out a lot though
• Your room had become a normal hangout spot for you three and they would still sometimes follow your around
• The latter mostly being Kirishima as Bakugou was would be in front of you two
• Expect your privacy and free time to be almost gone cause either of them, or both, will just show up outside your door at random time, of barge in depending on which of the two we're talking about
• You three almost always study together nowadays and they started to train with you whenever you decided to
• They gave great tips tbh
• The protectiveness over you as their caretaker when they were dogs changed into protectiveness over you as a friend
• (Or maybe something more, idk I haven't thought if I want a part two yet)
• So whenever your in any sort of trouble they'd either be close by or show up very quickly after a call or text
Bonus:
• YOU STILL FIND DOG HAIR IN RANDOM PLACES AROUND YOUR ROOM
• It's like the hair will forever haunt that room
• But you don't regret it
• Cause having to deal with dog hair was worth it to have had the two bestest dogs in the world with you
• And you'd do it again

The Worm Reads: Empire of Storms, Ch 19 - 20
The last few chapters utterly spoiled me with good content in form of the witches. But everything good, sadly, cannot last forever.
Elide Lochan kept quiet during the two days she and Lorcan trekked through the eastern edges of Oakwald, heading for the plains beyond.
*groans* Elide, I love you, but your POVs are just not fun to read, I’m sorry. Maybe because my instincts are telling me we might get a Lorcan POV too, and I’m starting to be irked by this guy.
But [Elide] still slept soundly these last two nights—thanks to the belly full of meat courtesy of Lorcan’s hunting. He’d scrounged up two rabbits, and when she’d devoured all of hers in minutes, he’d given her half of what was left of his. She hadn’t bothered being polite by refusing.
Girl, you were kept prisoner for how long? Don’t feel sorry for eating. Besides, Lorcan is an immortal warrior, yeah? So he probably doesn’t need to eat as much as you do during a day.
So they make it to a city, and Elide, being one of the few smart characters in this book, realizes Lorcan needs a disguise.
Elide surveyed herself, and set down her pack. First, she removed the leather jacket, even though it left her feeling like a layer of skin had peeled off, then she rolled up the sleeves of her white shirt. But without the tight leather, the full size of her breasts could be seen—marking her as a woman and not a slip of a girl that people assumed she was.
I say once again; full grown women are not the only ones with huge breasts. You can be a teenager with big breasts. Hell, I’m a young adult woman and I don’t have large boobs at all! Your breasts size have very little to do with your age once you hit puberty.
[Lorcan’s] eyes traveled from [Elide’s] feet to her head, and he frowned again. “Bigger tits won’t prove or hide anything.”
See, even Lorcan understands this. Also really, Lorcan says ‘tits’?
They roll up to town and there are soldiers checking wagons and inspecting people, searching for her. Since Elide’s limp gives herself away, Lorcan fixes it temporarily with magic.
[Lorcan] opened the door, and by the time [Elide’s] eyes adjusted to the glow of the wrought-iron chandeliers, Lorcan’s face had changed. His eyes might never be warm, but a bland smile was on his face, his shoulders relaxed—as if he were slightly inconvenienced by the wait but eager for a good meal. He almost looked human.
I know I said I despised Lorcan, but at least he’s willing to listen to Elide and make an effort to disguise himself. Maybe these chapters won’t be too painful to read.
“Brother,” Lorcan murmured so no one else could hear. “I am your brother.” “You are my husband,” [Elide] said with equal quiet. “We have been married three months. Follow my lead.”
I see your “pretending to date/be married’ fanfic trope, SJM. I see you.
[Elide] said simply, “Men will not fear the threat of a brother. I would still be unclaimed—still be open for … invitations. I have seen how little respect men have for anything they think they are entitled to. So you are my husband,” she hissed, “until I say otherwise.”
Jesus, way to throw men under the bus. Why is it that all unnamed and minor male characters in SJM’s books are addicted to rape and sexual harassing women? Like I know it happens in this time period ( and today) but Christ, all of these men are just frothing at the mouth to claim a woman or some shit.
Elide listens to the next table, which turns out to be a traveling carnival group.
Elide lifted her eyes to Lorcan’s—he gave a nod. She took a sip of her stew, steeling herself, thinking of Asterin Blackbeak. Charming, confident, fearless. She’d always had her head at a jaunty angle, a looseness to her limbs, a hint of a smile on her lips. Elide took a breath, letting those memories sink into muscle and flesh and bone.
Awww, I love little tidbits like this, showing how much of an impact Manon and her Thirteen had on Elide. Girls supporting girls is so important and precious.
Elide manages to convince the carnival group that she and Lorcan are traveling performers, and they are allowed in. I’m starting to warm up to Elide again - she uses her intelligence, he speaking skills, and her wits to solve her problems. It’s refreshing compared to the other characters always using magic and strength.
His wife. Gods above.
Unghhh, Lorcan’s POV.
Lorcan ignored the hand the bearded man offered and jumped into the back of the wagon, reminding himself to sit close to Marion, to put an arm around her bony shoulders and look relieved and happy to have a troupe again.
But again, he’s making an effort at least. That’s more than Aelin would do; she’d just threaten to burn everyone in her path until she gets her way.
Marion rolled her eyes, patting Lorcan’s knee. He nearly cringed at every touch. Even with his lovers, outside the bed itself, he didn’t like casual, careless contact. Some found that intolerable. Some thought they could break him into a decent male who just wanted a home and a good female to work beside him. Not one of them had succeeded.
Christ Lorcan, she’s just patting your knee. Right after I gave your kudos for putting effort into your disguise and everything.
“I want to see life—see the world,” Marion said, her voice softening. “I want to see everything.” Lorcan wondered if Marion would even get to do that if he failed in his task, if the Wyrdkey he carried wound up in the wrong hands.
Like I said, gonna be a doozy when Lorcan finds out his Wyrdkey is a fake.
Does it sound like I’m stretching for things to say? Because I am. Honestly this subplot is just.... really really boring. It’s just Lorcan being grumpy and brooding and while Elide is a nice and interesting character, SJM just isn’t doing anything cool with her aside from the occasional little moment here and there.
“But Aelin Galathynius,” Nik mused. Marion’s hand went limp on Lorcan’s knee. “Who knows what she will do. She has not called for aid, has not asked soldiers to come to her. Yet she held Rifthold in her grip—killed the king, destroyed his castle. But gave the city back.” The bench beneath them groaned as Marion leaned forward. “What do you know of Aelin?”
NO NO I’M SORRY I TAKE IT BACK THIS SUBPLOT IS INTERESTING PLEASE NO AELIN GUSHING PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
“Rumors, here and there,” Nik said, shrugging. “They say she’s beautiful as sin—and colder than ice. They say she’s a tyrant, a coward, a whore. They say she’s gods-blessed—or gods-damned. Who knows? Nineteen seems awfully young to have such burdens … Rumor claims her court is strong, though. A shape-shifter guards her back—and two warrior-princes flank her on either side.”
Aedion is the one who came up with the guarding her sides/back thing. How the fuck do other people know about it? Also unghhh everyone in this book just has to be royalty don’t they.
Some soldiers stop them and order them all out, presumable looking for Elide. Then they fuck off and Lorcan angsts about happy endings and how Elide’s goal is foolish.
There was no such thing as a better world—no such thing as a happy end. Because there were no endings.
Don’t be like that Lorcan, you’re a hot attractive magic dude in a shitty YA book. Of course you’re gonna get a happy ending. Next chapter!
Rowan Whitethorn just needed a place to rest. He didn’t give a shit if it was a bed or a pile of hay or even beneath a horse in a stable. As long as it was quiet and there was a roof to keep out the driving veils of rain, he didn’t care.
Dorian and Rowan have made it to Skull’s Bay.
But [Rowan] and the young king had chosen another route, during the many hours he’d made good on his promise to teach Dorian about magic. They’d worked for only minutes at a time—since it’d be no use if the king wrecked their little boat should his power slip its leash. So it had been exercises with ice: summoning a ball of frost to his palm, letting it melt. Over and over.
Aww, this is nice. I kinda wish we could’ve actually seen this, but it’s a nice mental image nonetheless.
But as if the gods themselves wanted to test him, a gust of rain-cooled wind sprayed into their faces, and some sense pricked in its wake. A shift in the air. Like a great pocket of power gathered close, beckoning. The knife at his side was instantly in his soaked hand as he searched the rooftops, revealing only plumes of rain. Rowan quieted his mind, listening to the city and storm around them.
So Rowan’s magic picks up some shady shit. What, pray tell, could be after them in Skull’s Bay?
Rowan sheathed his knife. “Then stay close and keep alert.”
Oh. Never mind, then. We transition then into Dorian’s POV.
Aelin had once confirmed that Rolfe was indeed soulless and indeed tattooed. As for the map … She’d shrugged, saying Rolfe claimed it stopped moving when magic fell. Dorian wondered if that map now indicated that he and Rowan walked through his city—if it marked them as enemies.
Seriously, Rolfe is so cool. A pirate damned without a soul with a magic map on his hands? Gimmie that novel! I wish SJM actually did something with the cool concepts she makes.
Two guards stood halfway down the block—guards not for any uniform, but for the fact that they were standing in this storm, hands on their swords. Rowan angled his head in a way that told Dorian the prince was likely contemplating whether it was worth it to chuck the men into the roiling harbor.
Rowan: How dare Darrow imply that my gf and I can’t be proper leaders? We are extremely talented in diplomacy!
Also Rowan: Hmm I’m gonna toss the guards of the guy I arranged a meeting with into the ocean lol.
Storm-Chaser. Lady Ann. Tiger-Star. The sterns of ships. Every table was made from them. They hadn’t been taken from wrecks. No, this was a trophy room—a reminder to those who met with the Pirate Lord of how, exactly, he had gained his crown.
Seriously why are SJM’s side characters so awesome and bad ass and intriguing but her main cast is so boring and lacks any development? Cut out Aelin and her court and give me a novel about Darrow, the witches, and Rolfe’s pirate army. I’d pay good money for that fic.
A door behind the bar opened, and a slim, brown-haired young woman stepped out. Her apron marked her as the barmaid, but her shoulders were back, head high—gray eyes sharp and clear as she scanned them and remained unimpressed. “He was wondering when you two would come snooping,” she said, her accent rich and thick—like Aedion’s.
Aye lmaooo you call them out girl.
Dorian nodded, something in his chest easing. “And you—your magic is … better?” That hard face yielded nothing. “I’ll manage.” Not an answer.
Lmao don’t worry Dorian, as soon as Rowan needs his magic he’ll be able to shoot frost balls out of his ass. Because what is a magic system?
Dorian didn’t know what he expected from the Lord of Pirates. But a dark-haired man, a day past thirty if that, lounging on a red velvet chaise before the rain-splattered curve of windows was not it.
Damn, SJM, you gonna leave me hanging just as soon as we get to an awesomely built up character? Apparently so.

Part One
Part Two
You can find my blurb Master list HERE
“So is it over? Is it really it? You’ve given up so easily. I thought you loved me more than this.”
There is a lot that can be said about New York, from the amazing coffee shops I have accomplished to find, to the freezing cold air I am far from used too, but along with everything, I am lonely. I feel somewhat lost and disconnected with the world.
All that makes sense is my work and that is because I have thrown myself head first into it. I haven’t had too much time to take notice of the loneliness I have been harboring, I have been too busy with writing articles and doing interviews— I have barely even managed to get ahold of Harry— I guess the two of us have busy schedules. Well, so I thought.
This morning I was sitting in my temporary office, a lukewarm coffee in my hand, my eyes scanning my laptop screen as I began to think about the next piece of writing I was to write, revolving around the fundamentals of love. I much prefer to stick to the articles about daily issues, realistic and true celebrity news, but the next two weeks are designated to writing about love. Something I have yet to completely understand or feel.
Well, love was the last thing on my mind the moment a magazine was slapped down on my desk by assistant, her lips pursed into a straight line. I glanced down at the cover, and in that moment my heart ceased and the breath was taken from me. There he was, Harry, on the front cover of the magazine.
I didn’t read past the title, “You of all people know this is fake, just because it is printed, doesn’t mean it is reputable,” I slid the magazine to the edge of my desk, and my assistant shook her head at me.
“You know there is always a little truth to every lie.. There are pictures.” She informed me, torturing me when she opened to page six, broadcasting the pictures that explicated Harry and some girl on his arm, the two of them resembling very cosy and loving. Something I never see.
In that moment, I knew why it was arduous for us to get ahold of each other, it was because it was all one-sided. I presumed there was something, I believed that what I was commencing to welcome wasn’t just wine infused or one-sided. I thought I was playing on his mind just like he was playing on mine, I thought the struggle between our communication was because of the distance and time differences, turns out, it was because of another woman being in the picture. I thought the texts were going somewhere, I thought we were moving from friendship to relationship… I thought… I thought he felt the same things I had been feeling, but how unexpectedly was I incorrect. Entirely, bitterly, wrong.
I lie awake in my hotel room, the sheets gracing the skin of my body as I stare up at the ceiling attempting to figure out where I went wrong while a warm body breathes beside me. I tilt my head to glance at the man beside me, Christian, his dirty blond hair falling around him messily, his blue eyes dreaming tightly.
I didn’t know what else to do after finding out about Harry… I found myself in the nearest bar, suffocating my sorrows in some Jack and Coke, something that Harry would usually order for me for fun, but tonight, I ordered it for myself because I was too late in realising that I was in love with him.
I didn’t know until today that I was in love with him, the man who orders my drinks the way I like them, the man who discovers different coffee shops for us to try, the man who gives me his jacket when I am too stubborn to bring my own, purely because it doesn’t go with my outfit. For so long he had been at the tip of my fingers and I took him for granted, I thought we were just best friends, I never apprehended the sparks, the smiles, and the wonderful times together were more than just friendly… I was blind, to say the least.
I overhear the sound of knocking at the door and I sit up gradually, my eyes flickering towards the time that reads Three in the morning. For a moment I frown, contemplating on whether to wake the man beside me up to open the door or to do it myself. I take in a deep breath and I slide out of bed carefully, throwing on the first thing I find, which just happens to be Christians shirt.
I open my hotel door, my eyes growing wide the moment I see the green-eyed and curly, messy haired, Harry in front of me. He looks me up and down, his brows furrowing before his mouth gapes and he steps back and shakes his head.
I don’t know what he is doing here, but I do know the bouquet in his hand is quite an indication of some sort.
My choice of attire is not appropriate at this point, fuck.
He stares at me, keeping eye contact for a moment but his gaze promptly becomes glazed with distaste. “Harry,” I breathe out in a whisper as he turns and begins to walk away, “Harry,” I beckon, his hand thrusting the bouquet of flowers to the floor, his tall figure refusing to stop with long strides towards the elevator.
I step back into my room, mentally cursing as my mind swirls with many different issues, one being that the man I crave just caught me in bed with another man. I race around the room, doing my best to be quiet in the dark before I grab the first pair of pants I can find and shoes before hurrying out of my room.
I don’t bother with the elevator, I hightail it down the stairs, praying that I can outrun the elevator, otherwise I have no chance at talking to Harry.
I reach the lobby of the hotel the bright lights somewhat hurting my eyes as I take a look around at the quiet and deserted area, the only person being the lady at the desk. “Hi, have you seen a tall guy walk out? Green eyes, brown hair? Uhm-” I stammer, trying to catch my breath after the damn stairs that didn’t show me any mercy.
She gives me a small smile, “He walked out about a minute ago, good luck.”
I flash her a smile before making my way towards the extensive glass doors of the hotel. I step into the chilly street, my arms crossing over my chest as the crisp air swirls around me.
“Harry, Harry wait,” I call out, managing to catch him in the freezing street, “Harry, please,” I beg, bustling after him, struggling to catch up to him.
To my surprise, his figure subsequently stops before nonchalantly turning around to face me with his brows knitting in a frown while his eyes burn darkly with hatred and irritation.
“I don’t have anything to say, I have to go,”
“Well, I do.” I press my hand to his arm, stopping him from turning away from me.
His eyes follow my hand before his arm stretches away from me, “Harry, let me explain,” I sigh, my heart sinking into my chest at his gesture. He has never pulled himself away from me before, never.
He manages a deadpan expression, “You don’t need to,” He mutters, his voice deep and clearly angered.
“Harry-”
He curls his lips with icy contempt. “No,” he shakes his head, “Have a good stay in New York, I’ll see you around,” he mutters,
“Harry, don’t walk away from me,” I whisper in a pleading tone, my eyes already beginning to welt up with tears. His eyes soften for a moment, but he doesn’t give in, instead, he marches away from me as though I am absolutely nothing to him.
I stand in the middle of the street, the crisp air taking control of my body as snow carelessly falls around me. I stand still, observing as he continues to wander away from me, not once bothering to turn around, not once giving me any sense of hope.
For the first time, I have fucked up with him.
I have battle scars increased across my heart, but for the first time, I feel as though my heart has been ripped out of my chest and hurled to the ground before being vigorously stepped on. I feel as though I can’t breathe, that the universe is against me in every way possible.
I think I lost my best friend and my lover, all in one.
Maybe this is why love is hard to attain, maybe Harry has always had good reason not to want commitment.
If this is what love feels like, I don’t want it...
___
The last three days have been nothing short of awful, getting out of bed has been harder than it has ever been, not to mention, writing about love when my heart is scarcely beating isn’t an easy job within itself. I would be lying if I said Harry hasn’t been on my mind this entire time, and I would just as equally be lying if I said I haven't ordered a Jack and Coke every night so far to help wash down the pain of regret, sorrow, and heartache.
I sit in the back of my cab, my eyes staring out the window, viewing the city, the town that is meant to hold many dreams, but for me, it has held nothing but a nightmare and an extra desire for alcohol. I’m just trying to drink the demons away—something to wash all the pain away.
I step out of the cab and take a deep breath, my eyes focusing on the entrance of the charity event that I was compelled to attend by my assistant, she was meant to attend and take notes for another article for me to write, but she insisted I needed to get out and claimed to be ‘too sick,’ to attend, conveniently, she had the perfect dress for me set out and everything in order for me to have no excuse to throw at her.
At first glance, I see nothing but a handful of people in a cluttered area, champagne glasses and laughter filling the space that was abandoned just a few hours. Everyone looks like a blur of inconsistencies to me, I feel like I have just been tossed out into the wilderness of the unknown. At a second glance, my heart halts… I am not sure how I am still breathing.
He’s here, the inconsistencies of swimming people abruptly become irrelevant because he is here.
He is the only one not blurred out within my vision... but I know he is probably here with someone else.
I go to turn my head to spare myself the heartache of having to continue to gawk at him from a distance, but his eyes abruptly meet mine and stay locked on my mind for longer than usual before he break the stare and turns back to the company around him. I feel myself sink further into an abyss of darkness and sorrow, the bar suddenly looking like my safe haven, but I share my thoughts away, I swallow my pride and paint a smile on my face.
Throughout the night, Harry and I share glances between each other, him seeming to be the one to ignore my every attempt at a smile. He may as well disregard me as a blanket being tossed to the side of the road after being dragged through the dirt.
I inhale a deep breath and blow out slowly before deciding to sashay myself over to him, angered and determined.
I grab Harry, his body stiffening as I clamp my fingers into his arm, forcing him to face me, “You don’t get to ignore me and treat me like shit, Harry.” I mutter harshly, outraged that he has the nerve to disregard me. Whether he is pissed off or not, he is still my best friend, years of friendship doesn’t go down the drain because of one stupid thing.
His nystagmic eyes scan the area around us before he draws the two of us away from the prying eyes of others, giving us privacy.
He allows me to step in first, still being a gentleman towards me.
He takes control of the silence rather quickly, “I don’t get to ignore you?” He scoffs, closing the door behind him, “I am not the one that went and fucked some random person. Guess that is why you could never return my calls,” He disputes, playing the victim.. He is only partially the victim; I am not the one parading a relationship all over the tabloids at the moment, he is.
“You never called me, I always called you and half the time you never answered, guess you were too busy with her.” I cross my arms over chest, “you can’t just show up to my hotel room with flowers and not have an explanation, what the fuck Harry?”
He stands with his back leaning against the door, his arms crossed in front of him as he furrows his eyebrows, “I clearly wasted my time going to your room that night, all I got out of it is that I am not the only one worried about commitment.”
“You can not make that assumption,” … “Why are you so pissed? You are with that girl,” I find myself waving my hands around in an attempt to get across my anger, distaste, and bitter disappointment.
“What girl?” he asks, irking my nerves as he tries to play stupid. He knows what damn girl, it is all over the media.
“The one from the tabloids,”
“Oh wow,” he sarcastically laughs, “You actually believed them?”
Frustration crinkles my eyes, “There were pictures, pictures don’t lie,”
“It was a PR, thought you would have figured that out, but you’re too busy laying in bed with someone else.”
“I didn’t know,” I dry respond, in my defence, I didn't.
He lifts his shoulders in a half shrug, “Well, now you do. I have to go,”
“Harry, can’t we talk?”
He lets out a harsh breath, “No, I have nothing left to say... “
“But, I do.”
Harry threads a hand through his hair, “Well, it is a little too late… It is clear to me, you have no intentions of being with me as more than a best friend… I thought by now you would have figured it all out. I love you, but you can’t see it.” His eyes flash with fury, defiance, and a small hint of lust before he droops his head towards the floor for a moment.
“Harry-” I begin, but I am swiftly cut off.
“Whatever you have to say, it is too late. I need to go.” He shuts me down, not wanting to hear anything that I have to say, even if it is to confess my feelings for him, feelings that have been harbouring inside me for quite a while, but I never was able to pursue.
I view as he steps out of the room, leaving me abandoned with warm tears descending down my cheeks.
The only man that has succeeded to make me perceive something unreal and desiring has wandered away from me without even knowing that I love him too...
