I was thinking about the mars rover then I remembered space cores lines where he’s talking about how space is too big and scary boring and he wants to go back home. So I made art based on that

GLaDOS conducts a second retrieval mission for Space Core after Wheatley tells her and Chell that he wasn’t actually happier up there. He’s shut down by the time they find him but GLaDOS is able to repair him and makes a planetarium for him. She likes the cores a little more and actually enjoys his company. At least he’s mindlessly rambling about science instead of tea and the queen.

He’s very relieved to be home and synthetically cries about it

au where instead of her old head getting ejected GLaDOS and wheatley just switch bodies and instead of having a potato stuck to chells portal gun she has to carry GLaDOS’ bitchass around /all/ the test chambers

chell can pick up or put down GLaDOS during tests (game physics don’t allow glados to be dropped over the edge) and if she drops GLaDOS a little to hard or throws her or bounces her on the gel or something you get a lil bonus dialogue

instead of attaching the “new“ corrupted cores (space, fact, and rick) you attach the old cores (specifically morality and curiosity) plus core!GLaDOS to corrupt wheatley

you would get the cores the same way as in the og universe - since the cores are technically fireproof (they can withstand like 4000 degrees kelvin or something insane like that) they just got deactivated and put in the corrupt cores box that the original au cores were in. they’re a little banged up, kinda scorched, but they still work. you receive the cores and attach them to wheatley the same way you would have in the og universe, just that space, rick, and fact are replaced with curiosity, morality, and core!GLaDOS (in that order).

wheatley still booby traps the stalemate button, but instead of chell shooting a portal onto the moon core!GLaDOS tricks wheatley into authorizing the core transfer as chell passes out.

this would still have the og lore of GLaDOS being caroline - she remembers she’s caroline bc the memories triggered by the tapes uncover code that reveals GLaDOS as caroline. these lines of code would have been previously blocked by the mainframe, but since GLaDOS is in a core she would have access to them. she wouldn’t have accessed them when she first became a core bc 1 she didn’t know they existed and 2 she had bigger things to worry about

glados is still scared shitless of birds bc that part of wheatleys code just came programmed in with the core (along w pain sensors and apparent lactose intolerance, among other things)

not sure what would happen to wheatley as punishment by GLaDOS - android hell, maybe? testing with atlas and/or pbody? put into a potato battery? im open to suggestions

@shrimpvevo they’re literally so stupid and lack all critical thought like “ohhhh potato battery project says chell so shes c&c’s child & turret opera says bambina” as if c&c weren’t dead @ the time, are literally both white when chell is not, etc. chell could not have been a child on take your daughter to work day she would have already been an adult. Bambina used in that context is closer to the romantic use of baby. C&C weren’t even in a confirmed relationship. It cheapens the game and is an incredibly stupid and boring theory that I hate. And I’m not even going to touch on the “companion cube is made of humans” theory because that’s literally the dumbest theory I think I’ve ever heard and gametheory being the one behind it should make it instantly ridiculed.

@radicata in theory yes but 1&2 were already so plot heavy (& a major part of why ppl love the games) that I think it would be a let down if they got rid of that. Also I don’t think valve would ever consider it bc of how much they enjoy doing plot heavy games & are kind of known for that 😪. That being said i think it would be cool if they did what ur suggesting as like… co op dlc for portal 2 maybe? I think pbody and atlas are still alive so glados can mess with them. Or maybe chell gets to go back and pay glados bird child support.
