Okay so like stick with me but young Derek, alive hale fam au.

So like the Hale family finds out that Derek has a crush on Sheriff Stilinski’s delinquent son, and has mixed reactions. Talia is torn between amusement, worry and wanting to dislike stiles. Papa hale is very protective but thinks it funny that him and his son have the same tastes.

Peter is ecstatic, Stiles once beat him in chess when running from the cops. (stiles was running and sat down in the park around people for cover, turns out he interrupted a chess tournament. Peter challenged him to a game if stiles lost, Peter would turn him over to the police. If he won, stiles could use him as an alibi)

The rest of his siblings don’t really have an opinion other than using Derek’s crush to make fun of him EXPECT for Laura. Laura is in a one sided rivalry with stiles.

As the sheriff right hand deputy she was tasked with keeping an eye out for stiles and she constantly loses him. Which shouldn’t be possible because she’s a werewolf. She can never connect him to a crime he’s committed and can never prove anything. Can’t go to a judge a say “oh he left a scent trail which I followed because I’m a werewolf.”

Derek brings him home to dinner after they start dating. Unfortunately, the day that Derek brings him over, is also the day that Laura had to run around town taking reports of his crimes. She is fuming. Stiles looks her dead in her twitching eye and asked her how her day went.

The only crime she can connect him to is when he commit aggravated assault against a few of Derek’s teammates went to far with hazing. (Derek refused to fight back as not to hurt them) she lets him off.

The thing about the prologue to Downfall is that it also makes The Divergence a tragedy (or underscores the tragedy of it, depending on your view)

These beings came to the universe with Exandria broken, lost, and scared. They lost their home, they lost some of their family, and were somewhere totally alien to them, in bodies that were alien, too. Clinging to their siblings that survived.

And then, millennia later, they will seal themselves away from it, and largely away from each other, too, because they were fighting too much for this new place, this new home, to survive. They were going to end up destroying it.

If you think about it, much of the history of Exandria (its theological one, anyway, which is tied up with most of its history in general) is the story of a family dissolving, growing estranged and breaking apart. It's just that the family is a group of gods.

little detail I've picked up on: lucanis seems to like it when rook is smart. not in an academically minded way, necessarily, but when they're clever/analytical and clear-eyed about the practical realities of a matter and able to sort out the bullshit. most immediate example that comes to mind is of course when rook points out to illario that zara physically can't have made it back to vyrantium yet by conventional means in the café scene (where they're also backing what lucanis is trying to say, so the approval there makes extra sense), but it pops up in several other places too where rook cuts through to the heart of a problem with that kind of thinking. his and davrin's approval often overlap, but davrin seems to like it when rook is resolute and practical (and kind but don't tell anyone that sssh <3 ilu davrin), where I get the sense that lucanis gets that extra little thrill when they're also clever. in another contrast emmrich likes it when you're curious and openminded and kind (a lot like solas in da:i really) -- more like a life-long earnest academic *would* think about and value learning and knowledge in terms of a process and way of thinking rather than the results that come out of it -- while i think lucanis kind of likes it (and possibly gets a little ah frisson out of it depending on your relationship with him lol) when your mind is a knife. which I think is really neat. also tracks perfectly with him liking both viago and neve too haha. he clearly enjoys the Thinkers of the world.

Crossing Wires is a sci-fi adventure/romance comic coming Oct. 1st on the Shortbox Comic digital fair!!

What if the holo-conciousness of your ex got stuck in your head and you had to go on a galaxy wide quest to get her a body? Surely you can just do that without consequences and then get rid of her, right?

Long story short, my old lady Athena went in for surgery to remove a suspected cancerous mass in her mouth and instead they found...

A small piece of headphone cable embedded into her jaw.

She has 3 teeth and she managed to pull this off. This is the only time I've heard a vet say "I've never seen anything like this before" and it be a good thing.

Let's give it up for my invincible old lady 🙌
