I forgot there was a period of time where my sister was super unstable and doing The Bad Drugs because she shook it off surprisingly quickly for somebody who was kinda lost in the sauce….. and the crack….. and other stuff……
but then my parents brought that time period up, thanking their lucky stars that she straightened up and flew right without so much as an intervention, and my dad said “thank you for being stable” to me
#imagine if i were#i’m just too anxious to misbehave#it’s weird that i forgot because she was REALLY different then#she accused my parents of having used heroin needles in their closet….. they were oral syringes for like baby medicine#she didn’t live at home during all that chaos though#and i couldn’t do much more except plead with her to be very very very careful#she wasn’t talking to my parents then either iirc#it was really very concerning

I finally saw the mean girls musical (the movie one) I have so many fucking thoughts oh my god
#Oni talks#thoughts#mean girls 2024#ok back to what I was saying about Aaron’s missed potential#so him being specifically in AP calc is interesting to me bc unless I’m wrong about how that works which fair I was in special math but you#have to qualify for AP calc iirc? or at least in my exp ppl only take AP calc vs regular for specific reasons like they actively want to#or are being made to by parents or have to for some specific reason coz usually there’s regular math progression classes and then special &#AP are separate in my experience. so you could have either leaned into the way he saw Cady as different from Regina via like the math thing#either having him bond because he likes math too hence AP or if you wanna keep him dumb you could lean into him valuing the difference of#Cady and how she’s good at math when he isn’t like it does sorta depend on if you wanna play it like he has to do AP or if he wants to like#does he enjoy math but still struggle with it? does he hate it? is he being pulled in a different direction like highschool musical style?#also if you wanted to highlight a difference from the original iirc (again been a while since I saw it) having Cady tutor him instead could#be more interesting? like if he’s required to learn for a sport or something#not in the using way tho but in like the he actually needs help way? also we lack enough of his perspective of Regina like I think again#keeping her canonically closeted could be interesting from his perspective of clearly seeing her lack of interest in him & what that does#for his self esteem & depending how toxic of a relationship you want his reaction to Cady being like Regina can be stronger like imagine you#finally escape your toxic/maybe abusive idk ex & think you finally found someone who actually cares about you only for them to start acting#exactly like your ex? if you wanna keep the math nerd shit & them bonding maybe Regina teased him for it & he thought he finally saw someone#who wasn’t ashamed of it and who could share with him? or just anything that makes him a person coz to be fair in the original and in this#it’s clear Cady only ever liked him for his looks & not him as a person so that could be interesting if we have that parallel Regina & if#we keep closeted Regina & the concept that maybe she’s stringing him along bc she’s jealous bc she likes Cady? &/or if we keep the fact like#he’s clearly popular too right so we could turn around those lyrics & lean into the concept of Regina performing & using him for her own#status & not really caring about him or the relationship? if we wanna expand the third guy who tbh is also just kinda there but even more lo#if this was a show he’d need more story and there’s plenty of ways you could do that? also in an expanded version one thing I’d find cool#janis gf at the end is so last minute? like ya she’s gay but sudden random date? ok lol obv in a show version there’s more plot or build up#or just SOMETHING? similar with Damian’s love interest where at least they are shown before but we have like 0 story for them lol also one#awkward side effect of no janisXKevin is he’s kinda just there? I feel like there could be more ties or more for him to do coz I do find his#character interesting partially coz he does remind me of ppl I used to know irl again lol if you wanted him to keep that proud to be a math#guy & say we keep Aaron invested in math they could have a plot together I guess? obviously part of why I’d want this to be a show is to#expand and give room to the crumbs in the movie that needed time to breathe but tbf there would need to have some new stuff too to round out

aaaaaaaa @yukiyuuki‘s tags are so good it makes me want to talk abt what I think this panel means some more,,,,
the panel in question:
Post under the cut!
So when I was in middle school I had this blowout fight with my dad about something stupid and it escalated into yelling. But y’know, yelling back at your parents gets you in even deeper shit, so like... it’s best not to.
We had this cheap set of window blinds at the time that we got from a discount outlet that were “supposed” to look like wood but were really just plastic and tbh you couldn’t fool anyone. So in the middle of this fight I feel like I’m going to explode because I’m trapped in a fight with my dad and he’s yelling at me--instead of yelling back, I turned around and sank my teeth into the blinds like a bite block.
Again: these were made of cheap plastic and it left a very clear indent of my teeth. But the blinds were newish, they were a pain in the ass and took two men with DIY know-how to put them up, and my parents had to be careful with money, so they weren’t replaced for many years after. Any time I walked into the kitchen I would see it, and I would feel (irrationally, mind you) ashamed at my “loss of control.”
That’s what the phone is to Mike.
He’s had it for a very significant portion of the comic, over 40 chapters.
This is Call Waiting, page 2. It was posted in June 2011, just over ten years ago now. This is a very long ways back from the current chapter (Eternal Flame).
Oliver’s commentary on the page notes that Mike’s family is pretty comfortable as, in 2008, an iPhone would have been pretty expensive -- especially for a teenager. Mike was so desperate for the phone that he cashed in his birthday and Christmas presents for it so he could text Sandy.
sidenote: It’s been mentioned, probably by Mod Brambles iirc, that Mike’s lockscreen has never changed. It has always been this picture of Sandy from when they were much younger.
During their fight/breakup, Mike threw it very hard and with very little care across the room, causing the screen to crack. Presumably, like my window blinds, this serves as a permanent physical reminder of what happened that night. The phone is his link to Sandy, and represents nearly the whole of their relationship. Every since getting together, Mike and Sandy have met face-to-face twice, and all other communication has been through letters and phone lines. Mike’s cell phone is representative of them as a couple.
And... it’s about what you’d expect from two teenagers who have nothing in common.
In page 64 of Eternal Flame, Mike looks down at his cracked screen and tells his friend that they’re going to “get rid of distractions.”
As yukiyuuki said in their tags, this doesn’t just mean Francis. It means Lucy, too. Mike intends to continue his relationship with Sandy through the phone (with promised schedules calls and more frequent replies). But every time he unlocks it to text her... he’s going to see these cracks in the screen.
another sidenote: I don’t believe Mike would go out of his way to fix the phone within the confines of the narrative. The phone is expensive and a repair would be as bad--touchscreen electronics, if not insured, can be less costly to just replace instead of fixing. And while Mike gets along with his parents, unlike my relationship with my dad, he still understandably shrinks like a violet when they’re angry at him. also, Vero would have to dedicate writing/art to a scene as such and she has better things to be working on irt the comic it’s gonna be soooo funny if I’m wrong.
anyway.
additionally, there’s plenty of analysis on the way Mike sees cheating/cheaters and @bramblepaws put it a lot better than I ever could have, check it out here. the point is that he takes loyalty and commitment very seriously. while it wasn’t technically cheating since she’d dumped him immediately prior, I’m willing to wager that the fact that Mike went out and kissed Lucy as soon as he was cut loose is going to weight very heavily on their relationship for the rest of the time they’re in it, even and especially if it’s only by his own guilt. he absolutely saw this as a hiccup and not a true breakup, since it probably didn’t even last an hour. so not only was Sandy compromising fidelity, (wrt to Bramble’s post: “I really love him”/”you’re so... nice”), so was he.
after all, this wasn’t exactly the same at the other two kisses they’ve shared...
One of these things is NOT like the others, if you catch my meaning.
And while none of these kisses were technically cheating on Sandy or disrespecting his feelings toward her (the first two were before they got back together and the third is, of course, right after their breakup/makeup), Mike has always looked back on them as such because they represent the idea that when Sandy left, Mike fell in love with someone else and therefore he wasn’t “loyal enough,” hence the trauma surrounding being perceived as a cheater by his peers.
yet another sidenote: it occurs to me that these three kisses each have different instigators. the Confrontation one is instigated by Lucy, the Pillow Talk one is instigated by Mike, and while you could argue that Mike instigated in Eternal Flame, the truth is that they both made the decision and came together into that kiss and therefore it was a mutual decision.
so yeah. not only does Mike have another “tally” in his Wasn’t Faithful box, self-imposed and self-inflicted as it is, but Sandy does as well. Sandy’s as-of-currently [checks time] 4:51pm 7/15/21 emotional unfaithfulness (we don’t know how far it goes as the camera’s not on her, but it was unfaithfulness) paired with this third kiss is the coffin for Mike and Sandy that December was for Mike and Lucy (and in a previous post, I described Mike’s behavior toward Lucy in Eternal Flame as the “final nail,” and while we have yet to see Mike and Sandy’s this is a good way to frame the countless parallels between this chapter and December).
Neither of them are going to be able to forget about it. they’re attached to the point that I would describe their relationship as nearly codependent, and absolutely toxic... but it’s no longer a genuine relationship either of them are taking genuine pleasure in. they’ve each has encounters where they’ve experienced pretty explosive chemistry with other people, but they’ve been together since they were kids and for fear of hurting each other and in the unknown variables of new relationships, they’ve decided to stay together.
(please wear safety goggles in the fireworks lab, folks.)
but again, they won’t forget what happened here, and it’s going to have ramifications for how they move forward. the only thing they’ve done by getting back together is delayed the inevitable and gotten other people hurt in the crossfires.
and that’s what the crack in that panel means.

Penultimate edition of my yet to be titled stream-of-consciousness for The Expanse, 6x05, “Why We Fight”.
Alright, Cara, how many ways have you traumatized your parents just now? Not only did you steal your brother’s body and run off into the woods, you found a way to bring him back, and he looks...really weird.
I mean, we knew Admiral Kirino’s raid wasn’t gonna end well. Wish she’d known, too.
Every now and then I feel like Marco has a flash of realization that he’s not invincible, and then it vanishes.
So the Laconian railguns are a known quantity now.
Again, Chrisjen’s growth. So good. And Bobbie’s. Hope they don’t keep fighting.
Holden and Clarissa being weird friends is very nice.
And there’s Elvi, foreshadowing the Whammy. Not a fan of them directly bringing up them, but I guess they’ve gotta.
Props to the actor; I’d swear Filip just got pulled from a WWI-era trench in about half of his scenes. Nobody was ever there for him like that; someone tried, but we all know what happened there.
Josep’s tiny baby arm. I’m not gonna make a Deadpool joke.
Especially since it’s no good.
Yay, we’ve got Naomi and Drummer interacting again! Kind of. A bit one-sided at this point.
Interesting times, as always, and yeah, last two times Holden and Monica interacted at all, it didn’t go that well for either of them. Both of them have to be cursed at this point.
Honestly, Chrisjen brings up a great point. At best, if Marco even believed them, he’d blockade the Ring on Sol’s side “for your own good”. At worst, he might try to weaponize the phenomenon (And about that...NEXT WEEK).
Oh. For some reason, I was under the impression that the writers really wanted to forget about that bit. Very glad we’re bringing it up again.
Amos, covered in glitter and makeup (and scratches). Bobbie, calling him out on it, and being the last to know about Holden’s little move. Took it way better than I thought she would.
Honestly, I agree that the Bobbie and Amos friendship feels less...weird than Bobbie and Alex’s. Not necessarily a fan of that last implication, though.
Ah. We’re finally dropping Michio off. And Josep. Drummer, you better get to have a “let’s run at each other from a long way away and hug and kiss” moment with them.
Again, Marco almost seems war-weary and ready for it to end one way or the other, and then something switches his weird little Alexander the Great complex back on.
If they do have Filip leaving next episode, I’m curious how. Extremely worried that he won’t, and he’s gonna, well. I’ve voiced that particular fear before.
Love that Drummer was perfectly willing to stay in line. And that she didn’t snap at Sanjrani.
Oh no, our moms are fighting.
And yes, there’s another way, Camina. When the universe needs a pirate queen (or a Spacing Guild Transport Union president)...
That “fuck you, fuck you, fuck you” but still going in for that hug hurt worse than her not accepting Naomi’s hug would’ve.
Loving that Drummer’s not letting up re: how bad this looks for Earth. Might be Cara Gee’s personal touch there; she’s talked these kinds of politics in interviews IIRC.
BIG Mass Effect 3 “I hate you, you suck, eat a bag of dicks, but it’s the end of the goddamn world, so, alliance” vibes there. (Think Cara’s a bit old for Shepard, but she certainly wouldn’t be my last choice.)

jack/mirad & kai/helvi
I woke up at 8 and went like eeeh i can sleep another half an hour and them boom, 1pm
1. Who's the one who's reckless and always getting into trouble while the other gotta pull em out
Mirad has grown past his most reckless tendencies, Jack however hasn't, but he's more at danger to himself than to others
Kai is very careful when he's out hunting and he's never alone. Helvi however has a habit of going into the woods alone
2. Who's the one to send the other "I love my gf/bf" memes
I don't feel like either?
If they had phones it'd be Helvi
4. Which one spoils the other more and do they ever get competitive to show the other more love
Mirad spoils Jack, lets be real, it doesn't turn into a competition bc it's in moderation, and mostly Mirad treating Jack to some of his skincare products
Kai miiiiight spoil Helvi juuuuust a bit, he doesn't mind getting up way earlier to fix her breakfast and help her tie her hair and acquiring many fur blankets
5. How many years did it take to get married or was it just not for them
A few years for sure, when they both were sure about it. Probably talked about it too before Mirad proposed
Few years, if wasn't for Kai's role in the village they would've gotten married later, as neither really saw marriage as That important and just something they one day would like to do.
6. What was their wedding like
Small, just closest family and couple friends, nothing extravagant for the middle aged men
Whole day event basically with everyone from the village and surrounding area invited (against Kai's best wishes), Weddings, and especially high profile weddings like that are few and far between and they're quite the event. Small ceremony but then a huge feast with dancing singing and general revelry
7. Is their friends/family supportive
Ellen is very happy for them both, Mirad's parents were wary but approve later on, Marda is still sus about Jack
Very much so, Kory pretty much pushed them to get married already, Kat when she finds out is very happy for them both. Helvi's parents are so proud and treat Kai like close family
8. How does one comfort the other when the other is in distress/having a panic attack/crying
Mirad talks to Jack gently, checks if he hasn't hurt himself, bring him a snack and drink. When Mirad's distressed Jack will ask if he can do anything and keep him company if he lets him
If Kai's in distress he tends to shut down and all Helvi can really do is keep him company and hold him. If Helvi's upset Kai will call a timeout and just go somewhere with her where she can calm down and talk things through
9. Which one dissociates
Jack mostly
-
10. Which one stares at the other's booty like "damn" and how does the other react when catching them
Both. Mirad would be more cheeky (hehe) in his reaction while Jack is like "my booty?? :0"
Helvi. Kai blushes
11. When they live together what kinda place do they live in? What does their home look like?
Both had their separate places, where Mirad's was very neat and organized and Jack's was a whole mess. Jack would still keep his place as a workshop while he pretty much now lives with Mirad, where he learns to respect the house rules
They share a two-story chief's house with Kory and a garm, they have the whole lower level to themselves pretty much, and it's quite big, it's very cozy and bit cabin'y even if it's larger
13. How does each act when getting drunk
Jack's a sad drunk, first thing Mirad knew about him tbh. Mirad doesn't drink if I remember correct
Neither of them want to get Drunk drunk, just tipsy. Kai loosens up and gets chattier. Helvi gets giggly and cuddly
14. Which one rolls over in the morning to wake up the other one just to give kiss them
Beware the morning breath. Mirad wakes up before Jack
Kai doesn't wake Helvi up when he leaves the bed to go prepare breakfast, but when that's done he will kiss her goodmorning
16. Does one have an interest the other think is weird but wants to listen to it regardless
Jack likes welding for fun too, he's made some little "art" pieces for Mirad with textures he knows he likes, and Mirad appreciates it. Mirad's big into working out and Jack will be out of breath in two minutes if he joins but it's a pleasant experience
Helvi loves making potions and instruments and while Kai knows little about either he's up for helping her if she asks, she also sings. I know this seems kinda random bc I just know thought of it, but Kai's into drawing with charcoals, it would be fitting for his "quiet kid with not many friends" character (it hits a little too close home lmao)
17. Which one uses cropped hentai as reaction images
That's very much up Jack's alley
If they had phones, Helvi
18. Does one of them kinkshame the other
Not kinkshame, more like kink-concern on Mirad's part like "Jack, honey, WHY do you wanna be choked that hard"
Neither of them have really out there kinks, though Helvi would be up to do it in the woods. Just have to be extra careful they're far enough from any civilization
19. Is one of them self conscious about their body? If so how does the other comfort them
Jack, he's pudgy and wrinkly. Mirad doesn't mind it one bit and calling Jack a sexy beast on the regular makes Jack happy and less ashamed of his body
Helvi used to, before trans-your-gender spell hit, (and bc she basically got to decide what her body would look like of course she has no regrets) Kai is very body-neutral about himself, yeah that's a body, nothing special but ain't nothing wrong with it either
21. What is their song? Like the song that gives them overwhelming feelings?
Well I have listed Silent storm for them once and you know what, I stand by it
From Heilung Traust and Krigsgaldr (first half of it anyway), both were big inspirations for Helvi's character in general and Maria Franz is her voiceclaim too lol (also the guy on krigsgaldr second verse for Kai's voiceclaim (before 4.40 mark))
28. Are either of them mentally ill, if so how do they help one another cope
Jack is a recovering addict, also depressed, and alcoholic (recovering when they get together). Mirad is also an ex-addict and while he's much further into his recovery he's not immune to the shitty stuff that still might happen, they're each other's peer support
Helvi used to have bad dysphoria
29. Does one have a spot on them where they would melt when the other kisses them there
Head, forehead for Jack (and lips of course) he's not that big into getting kisses on his body. Mirad is sensitive everwhere but IIRC neck and sides are big
Helvi's wrists and neck just below her ears. Kai's throat and forehead
30. Do they dance together
Mirad poledances, Jack enjoys the view
At their wedding sure, both lil tipsy and letting loose, both lost their flower crowns that evening
31. Do they sing together
More like hum if they feel like it
Helvi's the one signing, Kai might join in on a verse or two
34. Are they a reckless couple or safe
Pretty safe with the occasional reckless on Jack's part
Safe
35. What be their kinks and do they try each other's kinks
Love and Care, and choking
They're pretty vanilla
37. Do they get into fights often? If so what do they fight over and how do they make up?
Arguments sure about Jack's self-destructive behaviors sometimes but the rule is never go to sleep angry so they both reflect on it with compassion
Not really, at least before The Incident, apologize and kiss and make up
38. Which one's top, bottom, verse
Mirad's a top, Jack is a pillow princess vers
Kai's top, Helvi's bottom
39. What kinda sex they be having (gentle rough whatever)
Whatever they're in the mood for, some tender lovin'? Sure! Get hot and heavy? With moderation. Break into laughter in the middle of it? Silly is also a mood!
It starts off as hot and heavy but calms down to more gentle
40. Who would fight in honor for the other if someone would insult them
Jack would just hit them with the "don't be meeeaaan 🥺🥺" Mirad I feel like would go the verbal route as well but more stern
It's common knowledge to Not insult the village shaman (the one who has illness remedies and the one who blesses you before you travel), and you DONT insult the the chief's kid/chief. They're both capable of defending themselves but Kai will step in if he happens to hear
44. Do they want kids
Nah, who needs kids when you got nieces
Yeah, and I've finally made up my mind, they're gonna adopt a bunch (and bc you dropped out of the campaign I can tell you how: a village not that near but not that far gets attacked by a power hungry druid and leaves bunch of kids without parents and the party will escort them back to Kai's village, before they go after the druid)
#whoowhee there was a LOT#the power hungry druid is part of visenya's backstory and I was planning on the party taking a route that crosses Ziva's fam's village and#they see it in ruins (also bc of the power hungry druid)#idk how it's gonna play out yet but thats the plan#armed asshats#space shitstorm#im sure you have made a post with songs for mirad and jack and only one I remember is moves like jagger#jack is pretty dysfunctional at the beginning but with love and support from mirad and ellen and therapy he will get better

LMAO I realize there's literally six days left of the poll but twenty of you have engaged my little goblin brain so here you go!! one of the Dragon Age 2 fanfiction scraps, just for y'all! under a break for length, context for the scrap provided
OKAY SO CONTEXT BEFORE WE GO FURTHER I remember wanting to play with the "modern girl in thedas" trope a bit- my character, Tess, decided to keep quiet about her knowledge of the games and pull strings as best as she could on her own. But she kept a diary iirc, and Hawke found it. So even though Leandra's death was thwarted, Hawke is pissed.
PS- Tiptoe is Hawke's mabari PPS- it's my personal headcanon that everyone in the DA2 crew was at least a little in love with everyone else. This was going to be a Fenris/OFC/Varric longfic, spanning DA2 into DAI. If the scraps go over well (I've got like, four-ish? five??) I may try turning them into something. lmk what you think!
Hawke’s eyes narrowed and he scowled, stalking towards me. “You knew. You fucking knew my mother was being courted by the blood mage that had been kidnapping and murdering women and you said nothing!”
I saw the swing coming. I could’ve dodged it, but instead I chose to lean into Hawke’s fist as it slammed into my left cheek, the momentum sending me spinning into a low table. My hands reached out to catch my fall, and I upended both the table as well as a vase in the process - one of Leandra’s favorites, I distantly recalled. It smashed into dozens of shards on the tiled floor, and I landed on the sharp pieces littering the ground; they dug painfully into the skin of my palms, the tiny pricks causing small red cuts to bloom.
Silence reigned for a moment, Hawke’s wide, startled eyes meeting mine. I could already feel the skin on my left cheek swelling, a ring on his finger leaving a deep cut just under my eye. Anger quickly overrode my surprise however, and I turned a glare his way.
“Feel better?” I demanded, carefully extricating myself from the upended table and shattered porcelain. “We’ve been over this before, Hawke. I can’t tell you everything I know because then things change in ways I can’t prepare for.
“Your mother is alive and well, sleeping in her room. She’s healthy, whole, and breathing. Her severed head hasn’t been attached to the pieces of the other missing women like the world’s worst jigsaw puzzle and animated by fucking blood magic because I saved her.” I was up in Hawke’s personal space now, bloodied finger poking his chest for emphasis. His face had lost all color, eyes alight with horror. Guilt was sitting in the back of my mind, trying to get me to calm down, but I was beyond caring at this point. Hawke wanted to know what I knew? Fine.
“You know what else, Hawke?” I asked, my voice rising in pitch. “You know what else I’ve kept quiet about because I’ve been so fucking careful about your feelings all these years? Your family, your entire family, is supposed to leave you. Your parents, Bethany, Carver, all of them. I wasn’t there for Bethany or Malcolm. But Carver? Why do you think I sided with your mother about him not going to the Deep Roads? He was going to contract the Taint and die. That was the only way out of there for him unless you’d also taken Anders with you, and then the fucking best case scenario was your baby brother being made a Grey Warden and getting sent to Weisshaupt. So I made sure he didn’t go, and he became a templar instead. I think him working with Cullen Rutherford is a pretty good fucking step above dying in some Maker-forsaken abandoned thaig or living a half-life fighting fucking darkspawn!”
Hawke looked like he was going to vomit, but I didn’t stop talking, though I did start walking towards the door. My cheek hurt, and either tears or swelling were making it difficult to see. Probably both. I think the cuts on my hands were also starting to leave dots of blood on the tile. I’d have to apologize to Orana later.
“But the worst thing, Hawke? The worst fucking thing I know? Is that Anders is supposed to leave you too. And I’m working on making sure that doesn’t happen because you are in love with him, and enough has already changed because of me that I think his leaving would break you. Because Kirkwall needs you, and will continue to need you. So I’m going to keep doing what I need to do in order to support you, and our friends, and this city, and the Free Marches, and Thedas, whether you fucking like it or not, you goddamn fucking asshole!”
I’d grabbed the bedroom’s door knob and stepped into the hallway by the end of my tirade, and I slammed the door behind me as hard as my stinging hands would allow before storming down the stairs towards Hawke’s front door. I was silently thankful that Orana, Bodhan, and Sandal were either out or willfully ignoring the exchange and Tiptoe was guarding Leandra; no one caught sight of my walk of shame out of the house. Hawke did not follow me.
Once I was outside, I had to decide where to go. I already knew I wasn’t going to tell anyone Hawke had hurt me; I wasn’t going to color anyone’s opinions of him with tensions so high in the city. The Qunari uprising was only months away and Meredith didn’t need the “Hawke beats people up when in a fit of pique” rationale in her back pocket.
Fenris’ place was closest, but he was likely in Lowtown with the others at the Hanged Man. But going to the Hanged Man meant seeing Varric, and putting those two together when I had an injury and an undisclosed assailant was unwise. They’d poke holes in my story faster than I could string it together. Fenris and Varric adored Hawke; They were both in love with him just as much as I was in love with them and I couldn’t taint his image for them. Of course Hawke wasn’t infallible; Hawke made mistakes. He made bad calls, accidentally set off traps, got his shit wrecked by surprise dragons at the Bone Pit. But Hawke didn’t hit his friends or shove them into furniture when he was upset. I wanted to, had to believe this was a one-off incident caused by the stress of nearly losing his mother. But that didn’t mean I was going to stick around to let it happen to me again.
I can pull strings from the shadows, I thought, my feet headed towards Lowtown despite my reservations. I think. I would just have to be somewhere else while I did it. I could still be in Kirkwall, just maybe not as close to the action?
All of Kirkwall is close to the action, Tess, I mentally reminded myself, choosing to enter the Hanged Man from the kitchen side, out of view of patrons, keen-eyed dwarves, and lyrium-branded elves. I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer. I can write clues down, give vague dates, leave it in a book for them, and let Hawke figure this shit out on his own. Then get my ass to down Haven and wait for Solas to fuck up and go from there. Maybe if I intervene early enough I can even help Felassan-
“Tess?” Norah’s voice cut through my mental wanderings. I looked up to meet her horrified gaze. “Maker’s breath, Tess, what happened? Did someone attack you? Come inside.”
oh my god I found some very indulgent Dragon Age 2 fanfic scraps from like, five years ago while cleaning out my google drive
#sassy speaks#dragon age 2#da2#fanfiction#just a scrap though#might turn into something idk#it's been years since I wrote anything of substance

listen I have so many questions about Stanford Sam, like this kid who was raised in the wild, barely aware of acceptable social conduct arrives with his 2 ectoplasm stained t-shirts at his dorm and like ????? is he very aware of it at first? or does he think he's hiding it well? and like moving in with Jessica?????? he doesn't know how to water plants and that you have to pay electricity bills ??? Like obviously he's not stupid, we know that!! But there are certain things about ordinary everyday life that are just impossible to pick up when you're raised like that. And this is just surface-level stuff, like I feel overwhelmed just thinking about how many tiny things I do in a day, just normal life stuff that I've always done, that Sam would be like ???? so weirded out by, or maybe creepily fascinated ??? Would he try and copy everyone around him maybe??? and then all the odd things that he'd probably do !!! like just basic marine survival nonsense he's dad probably taught him applied in mundane life situations that would make him stand out and he wouldn't even notice !!! And he thinks he's doing fine, people seem to accept him, but then suddenly someone mentions like... TRL or something and he's like ??? and then Dean picks him up and it all falls to pieces, because it's so EASY and ingrained and he doesn't have to pretend and it puts it into perspective how not okay he was doing at Stanford even when it felt like he was ?? god I'm just rambling, like I barely even have headcanons, I'm just so overwhelmed by all the possibilities of how this would play out !!!!
Holy crap, first I wanna apologize if this has been sitting here awhile. The Ask notification location in settings instead of notifications on the app is so weird and I get them so rarely I don’t think to check. (and the website shows that I have 4 but this one is the only one it’ll show? How does tumblr work? Oh yeah, it doesn’t lol.)
Anyway, I have so many thoughts on this! But they’re not necessarily cohesive?! Like first we all know Sam is super smart. He’s curious. He’s inquisitive. But he’s also sheltered in weird ways. There are things he’s known about the world that most people would never know about, let alone kids his age at any given time; yet the existence of those things--and the understanding that therefore potentially anything could be real--also lends itself to keeping him childlike--he had an “imaginary friend” at age nine and believed in the Easter bunny through age eleven, which is much later than the average probably???
By middle school, he definitely would’ve been feeling the strains of his otherness around his classmates, even if they weren’t constantly moving around, but of course the nomadic lifestyle just makes it even harder.
I think Sam is a very observant person, though. He figured out something was up with their dad and The Truth at age 8! So people watching is Sam’s saving grace for getting along in the mundane world. He definitely learns to mask his otherness by mimicking mundane people.
And I get sidetracked here because then I start thinking about exactly how their childhood went. We know John used Pastor Jim and Bobby as childcare/parenting support to some degree. I don’t think we really know anything about Caleb, maybe I’m forgetting something, but my headcanon is that Caleb functioned as a “fun younger uncle” type to Sam and Dean: cool, responsible in a pinch, but mostly not given childcare responsibilities because of his wilding tendencies. (they learn swears accidentally from Bobby and John, but Caleb TEACHES them.) Sam and Dean didn’t even know about Missouri until s1, so she’s off the caretaker list. They had that babysitter they met up with in uhh... Swap Meat! But largely we assume that Dean had a lot of the caretaking responsibilities; maybe with temporary babysitters in other places the same as Swap Meat.
And lbh you just can’t expect well-rounded, informed child-rearing from a kid only four years older. There’s a reason I associate a lot of weechester flashbacks with Sammy watching TV like in Something Wicked, because literally little siblings are A LOT and sometimes you just want them to sit still and quiet and leave you alone for a bit omg.(wait, give me a minute, I’m imagining little 6 year old Dean on the phone with Bobby because John ran out for food supplies and isn’t back yet and Sammy is still asleep but Dean’s creeped out in the longterm room they’re staying in because he KNOWS about the supernatural already. but then bobby gets on John’s case about it--and instead of never leaving Dean alone with baby Sam again, Dean learns from John’s belt not to call anyone when he’s left alone unless it’s an ACTUAL EMERGENCY. Or maybe, because marine, John doesn’t use his belt; maybe he uses PT instead and every time Dean thinks about calling Bobby for that reason again, his abs ache from the memory of punishment situps, or his arms get suddenly shaky thinking about doing pushups til he just couldn’t anymore.)
I haven’t read all of John’s Journal, and I know it’s not actually canon, but IIRC the bits that I’ve read from the wiki show John and the boys staying with a family friend in Lawrence for a few weeks, MAYBE a few months before John visits Missouri and everything STARTS. I think if he hadn’t picked up and left with them then, the family friends would’ve been contacting CPS because they’re starting to think John’s grief is making him unhinged. (I really want to read the journal tbh--there are bits I’ve seen that make me fantasize even more about boyking!sam storylines... but I’m getting even more off track.)
So we’ve got this weird/interesting dichotomy of kids that are groomed with these hyperspecialiizations, too weird to really fit in with other kids but sheltered from the actual hunter life also--like the fact that there ARE other hunters, like as a THING, not just their dad’s rando friends that, as kids, they may just assume know about the supernatural because their dad told them! (jfc they’re SO PRIMED to be each other’s entire world omg I’m gonna die)
So like, by being quiet and observant (an imaginative kid, by nature and by nurture as John starts to take Dean out more and leave Sam alone with his own thoughts), Sam would pick up a lot of things. But they’re never anywhere long enough for him to fully grasp everything and he would definitely suffer a bit from the Dunning-Kruger effect--not having enough knowledge about a thing, but having just enough that you don’t realize you don’t.
Let’s say Sam observes and picks up some things about normal residential life by being around a few mundane babysitters. The nature of John’s “work” would mean that, even if they were in a more in-home-daycare-like situation, they’d be likely to be the “after hours” kinds of kids that are still there when everyone else is picked up and the babysitter would normally be doing their normal life stuff: changing clothes, cleaning up from the daycare kids, making dinner, etc (sam and dean would definitely help, either out of kindness or duty or because it’s agreed that if they help out John will get a discount on their care costs--don’t mind me, just projecting my childhood onto the winchesters hahh. I’m NOT going to go off on a tangent about Dean already having so much experience caring for babies cuz of Sam. He definitely doesn’t have all the under-4s following him around begging for attention while he burps one of the three babies their babysitter cares for after a bottle. it DEFINITELY didn’t make Sam (age 4, 5, 6 maybe) jealous enough to repress the memory so that over a decade later he would claim that Dean doesn’t even LIKE kids.)
Uhh... what was I talking about? Oh yeah, Sam. Observing normal life. Anyway so maybe after things settle for the day, sometimes a babysitter will sit at the dining table with the weekly bills and their checkbook and do the bills. And Sam kind of loves things like this: it feels like something important; it feels like playing school before he was old enough to go (quick aside here: John totally enrolled Sam in school early, both because that’s the only way his age works with canon timeline and because it would make life easier if Sam was in school just like Dean--more cost-and-time efficient.) And maybe Sam goes and sits at the table and just. Watches.
And then he asks questions. When he’s curious, he doesn’t keep his questions to himself as a child (unless the subject is expressly forbidden: see Dean’s reaction when Sam brings up Mary). But his age would inevitably limit the scope and understanding of those questions. Adults are generally disinclined to fully explain the adult world to children, especially when it comes to finances, and in the 80s and early 90s?? With most of the adults of that time that I knew, those kinds of questions were considered rude and nosey. He might understand that adults have to pay bills; he may even understand something about utilities; but he wouldn’t necessarily understand all the requirements and frequency.
Though their nomadic lifestyle wasn’t stable by any “normal” definition, one thing to be said about mostly living out of motels is that your power is never cut off, or your water, or your heat. There’s always television, usually with cable. And the only form of payment you see going on is dad handing over cash or plastic at the front desk--one and done. My headcanon usually disallows the idea that they would’ve squatted in empty houses when Sam and Dean were kids (John makes plenty of bad decisions but I just don’t see him staying in a place without power or water with CHILDREN. Teenagers? SURE.) They would learn how to clean house and make proper beds even when it wasn’t always necessary with housekeeping available--both because of John’s military parenting style and because John would be most likely to opt out of daily housekeeping to lower the risk of having people ask questions.
So yeah, there are so many little intricacies of the mundane world that Sam wouldn’t be conditioned to even think about. Even the realization that he doesn’t know enough about regular life, as he grows up and longs more and more for that very thing because he’s never had more than a glimpse of it, wouldn’t necessarily be enough.
Would his natural curiosity lead him to ask those questions? He can’t ask John because he already asked Dean and got a dismissive answer because ‘what does any of that matter, Sam? we’ll never have to worry about that shit.’ and if Dean seems borderline offended by the sheer audacity of the questions in the first place, he knows John will be worse.
In the 90s, life skills were still kind of a thing in most U.S. schools. But in a really inconsistent way. Sometimes it was in health class curriculum; sometimes your math class would actually do a short focus on balancing a checkbook and banking if there was a chapter, but a lot of times those parts get skipped. You never use the whole textbook. Sometimes life skills was only in Home Ec, but H.E. was completely elective in my area when I was in middle school (the same exact years Sam would’ve been in middle school) and I’m assuming the same for most of the U.S. Sam may have taken it, or he may have taken something else instead (wood shop or computer class were the alternatives in my area). Maybe the nature of school hopping meant that he HAD to enroll in Home Ec, because resources for the other electives were finite, but somehow always managed to miss the bills and budgeting portion. Maybe he couldn’t even take Home Ec due to class size or resources and they just put him in a study hall for that period. (Maybe they put him in the computer class, where he mostly does book work until he gets a turn on the PC he has to share with his classmate.)
As an observant person, Sam totally would’ve known about TRL, I think. There’s no way at least one group of kids in the halls or lunchroom wasn’t talking about it every day in high school, especially with the advent of Britney Spears and Eminem and Jesse freakin Camp. Maybe he goes to someone’s house to try to hang out or to study and they turn it on and Sam watches raptly because it’s such a strange phenomenon and he hardly ever gets to hear new music, much less watch the videos. But he can’t actually get into it because the fangirls are annoying and his analytical mind won’t let him suspend his disbelief about how the voting works. (Maybe he tries giving it another shot in their motel room sometimes, but Dean vetoes that bubblegum pop shit IMMEDIATELY--no Sam, look, that shit isn’t REAL music; most of them don’t even play instruments. And it’s really not fair because Dean TOTALLY watched MTV’s The Grind in the early 90s for his fix of suggestively gyrating bodies before he figured out how to access porn without getting caught.)
Sam and Dean actually make a LOT of pop culture references, which always fascinates me. I imagine they did a lot of TV watching and VCR/movie renting in the times they weren’t working on a case with/for their dad (projecting again; my dad’s house was a very boring place on his weekends). The nature of Dean’s idolization of John and disinclination to let Sam have his own separate likes means they have a mix of age-appropriate pop culture knowledge and a lot of Boomer-era TV and movie knowledge--Dean more than Sam, maybe when it comes to things like cowboy movies and TV lol.
Anyway, as the realization that he doesn’t really know how anything works crept in, maybe Sam would try to lowkey create situations where he could ask his friends/his friends’ parents those normal life kind of questions. But maybe after his first few tries, he’s become so uncomfortably aware of how weird he is to even need to ask that he stops asking. Maybe he starts to tap into his specialized skills and starts snooping/creeping around their houses to try to glean knowledge. Maybe he scours the library for books on ‘what you need to know for life’--I have the urge now to do a google search on actual titles of books on this subject that may have existed at the time, but I’ve already spent a lot of time on this without going into research spirals. lol Maybe he can’t find exactly the things that are pertinent--still doesn’t fully realize that, though--and in the meantime his cache of esoteric knowledge continues to build.
So he gets to Stanford and he mostly understands how the financing works; enough to get by with enrollment and stuff. He understands that he’ll need to get a job of some sort to make ends meet because he’s there to be normal and normal people don’t pay for everything with scammed credit cards and billiards money; he knows that much. But he doesn’t really know about wages, minimum wage, freaking payroll taxes, etc. (I feel like Dean would’ve had odd jobs as a teen, some legit some under the table, but that the nature of John (and Dean) wanting to keep Sam home and safe would’ve made the subject of Sam working through high school a banned topic. And anyway, much as I’m not a fan of the characterization in Drag Me Away (From You), what Dean said to Sam about the impossibility of getting into college with the way his academic career would look is accurate. So Sam would’ve probably spent most of his free time on academics so he could get the fuck out, rather than trying to get a job.
Maybe having to buy his textbooks would be a surprise? John probably always qualified for Sam and Dean to be on free lunch/free book programs in public school, not to mention the likelihood of the records being at least partially counterfeit. But at the same time, John was probably very hands off with their school enrollment crap once the boys were old enough to handle it themselves, so Sam would at least have an inkling.
Sam would be a weird mix of no-boundaries and too-secretive, and his first attempts at acting normal would be a bit too put-on. He’s got experience acting per 1x16 (oh, maybe he did drama instead of home ec somewhere lol), but acting on stage is so much different to acting in a more personal setting. On stage you have to exaggerate your movements to project all the way to the back. Early-Stanford Sam, I guess, is a bit like Soulless Sam. He knows there’s something off about him compared to the people around him, and he just does his best to pretend he’s the same as them without calling attention to his differences, which ends up coming off robotic. A little Stepford. A little uncanny valley. He learns to bite his tongue every time he’s about to let something normal only to his family roll off it; learns to be even more vague than he used to be, because now he’s around strangers ALL THE TIME.
At some point, Sam has a little-but-big breakdown about a payment he missed or the fact that he had to steal shampoo because he didn’t even have toiletries in his budget and couldn’t even afford a bottle of White Rain or Suave, so since he was stealing anyway he got the special brand he really likes and then feels too awful to even use it and doesn’t wash his hair for a week. Brady takes pity on the cute but hapless puppy-boy who is a physical and academic behemoth but has obviously been living off-grid on some kind of militia commune for the past forever--at first the rumor was that he was Amish on rumspringa but the amount of times Sam has busted out some supremely random survival knowledge in casual conversation changes that rumor quickly--and has no understanding of the world. And by the time he moves off-campus with Jess, Sam has this masking thing down pretty well; he can almost forget he’s not normal sometimes and Jess only knows about his previous helplessness in a cute, anecdotal kind of way.
And then Dean comes and gets him and Sam’s all “you and Dad still doing credit card scams?” and Dean’s like “well hunting doesn’t pay the bills.”
AND SAM’S LIKE, NEITHER DO YOU DEAN! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT BILLS ARE?! BECAUSE I DIDN’T AND IT WOULD’VE BEEN NICE TO KNOW!

Fireheart Medic AU? If you dont mind, could I ask about it? :O
OH YEA !!
if u want to send like specific asks about it pls do
here's a sum of the au though (
it's very long sorry </3
SO! I always thought it was weird for Firestar to have such a strong connection to Starclan and like not even tell anyone about it so that's how this au was birthed
In Twolegplace, a young cat, Rusty gets these very vivid dreams of being in the forest, feeling the breeze blow across his fur, smelling scents he has never encountered before, he talks to his friend Smudge about it but doesn't really get any where until Smudge says to him about the dangers of going out into the forest (Smudge: Oh yea the forest, don't go in there i heard it's very dangerous and spooky. Rusty: I'm going into the forest.)
Meanwhile, in the clans, it's practically the same as canon until the prophecy; either Spottedleaf gets a dream about it or has it during her talk with Bluestar but it goes like this. Spottedleaf is going through herbs (or she sees a bright light coming from the medic if she's not in it) and she sees this flame by her herbs and her first reaction is to put it out before realizing that it's a dream. And instead of the fire burning the herbs, it's just sitting by them, not harming them, Spottedleaf may even say it looks like the herbs look fresher. She comes to the conclusion that the fire resembles something, or, some cat. Fire doesn't belong in the medicine cat's den, let alone a clan. Hmm..
Fast forward to the Graypaw meets Rusty scenario and when Bluestar and Lionheart come in. Rusty explains to Bluestar about the dreams he has about being in the forest and how real they feel, Lionheart brushes it off saying it would be normal for a kittypet to dream about being free in the forest from being an enclosed space all the time. But Bluestar asks for Rusty to explain more about his dreams and he ends up describing things like the Great Sycamore, the ravine and possibly Sunningrocks. Bluestar asks if Rusty is interested in joining the clan and tells him to meet here in the morning if he is. Then her patrol leaves. Lionheart voices his concern about that kittypet being a spy, especially from Riverclan with everything that's been going on between the two clans but Bluestar tells him it's impossible for them to know about the ravine since no Riverclan cat has seen it (based off the other clans not knowing about the other clan's camp and stuff) but she'll keep a close eye on him if he shows again.
Instead of sending Whitestorm & Lionheart to bring Rusty back to camp if he came, she sends Redtail & Spottedleaf. Bluestar also tells Spottedleaf she thinks this could be the fire in her dreams, since it makes sense. A fire doesn't belong in the clans nor does a kittypet.
Rusty joins of course and during the walk back to camp, Spottedleaf asks him about his dreams, anything else he saw or any cat he could describe (not sure if he saw any cats though).
He doesn't have his fight with Longtail because he doesn't need to prove himself, him showing the courage to join the clan is enough (words from Redtail- who also stops to fight Longtail wants to start). Bluestar announces that Rusty-now Firepaw- will be training as a medicine cat under Spottedleaf which of course isn't well received but Bluestar makes it clear that if anyone is against Firepaw joining the clan, they are against the word of their leader, which shuts them down quick.
Firepaw and Graypaw are still friends in this AU but they aren't that close since Firepaw is in the medic den the majority of the time but they catch up time to time. Ravenpaw is also a close friend and I think I'll put in some GrayRaven later.
Sometime after, Firepaw is out collecting herbs when he encounters a rouge who saves him from a fox or something. Firepaw won't let the rouge (Yellowfang) hunt on Thunderclan's territory but he'll treat her wounds for her. Yellowfang doesn't want him to but she can barely use her hind leg so Firepaw treats her with the herbs he was supposed to collect for the clan. Bluestar and her patrol consisting of Tigerclaw, Darkstripe, Willowpelt & uh Graypaw I think (or he joins later) finds Firepaw treating the rouge and demands to know why he's 'wasting' herbs on a rouge (words of Tigerclaw & Darkstripe). Bluestar soon recognizes the rouge as Yellowfang, medic of Shadowclan and asks her what she's doing but Yellowfang doesn't give a clear answer so Bluestar tells the patrol they've got a Shadowclan prisoner on their paws & take her back to camp. Darkstripe also says, sarcastically, that it's a good thing it's greenleaf (or newleaf idk) where herbs are plentiful because Starclan knows that kittypet would still waste herbs on an outsider instead of his clan.
Back at the camp Bluestar tells the news about Windclan's disappearance as well as their own prisoner, Yellowfang, and since Firepaw was so eager to help her earlier, he'll be her main caretaker.
Sometime after Redtail's death (I'm not sure if the battle which kills him should happen before or after yellowfang arrivals) Firepaw starts getting dreams of Redtail at Sunningrocks. Redtail is clearly trying to tell him something but Firepaw can't make out anything of it. The whole dream is weird and blurry and only clears up when he's about to wake up. After many failed tries to try to stay asleep for the dream to clear up, he tells Spottedleaf about it and thinks the best option would be to spend the night at Sunningrocks. Spottedleaf (and Yellowfang) are very confused as to why he would come to that conclusion and Yellowfang puts in that the moonstone exists to talk to Starclan for a reason. But Firepaw insists on doing it his way because if it's something that could wait for the half-moon meeting, then why send him a dream now ? So Spottedleaf gives him permission and tells Bluestar about it. Firepaw sleeps at Sunningrocks (or near it because I'm like pretty sure the rocks belong to Riverclan rn ?) and Redtail shows up, clearly. He tells Firepaw that he honestly didn't think it would work but quickly gets to the reason for showing up. The story of this death is flawed, it's not the truth. A cat, maybe more know the truth but the chance of either saying anything is very slim. So he's going to have to poke around and reveal the truth, then the dream ends. Well, he's woken up by Graypaw who was told to bring him back to camp. Firepaw tells Spottedleaf about the dream but they can't really do anything
Fast forward to Clawface break-in. Spottedleaf goes to check the nursery and gets attacked and when her body is discovered as well as the missing kits, panic arises. Lionheart sees Spottedleaf first and thinks she's dead but then her eyes open and she gasps for breath. Lionheart tries to ask her what happened but she can't really talk. Some cat says Yellowfang is missing and Spottedleaf repeats her name but it's misheard by Dustpaw and he says that Yellowfang is the one who attacked Spottedleaf but before Spottedleaf can say anything (if she could that is) Firepaw is let through to treat her.
While Spottedleaf is stabilized, Bluestar comes into the den and asks Firepaw if she thinks Yellowfang would do something like this. Firepaw firmly says no and that there has to be a valid reason why she left. Spottedleaf is awoken and Bluestar asks her if she can say anything, but Spottedleaf's throat is too injured for her to talk so she can't. Firepaw however gets an idea and goes to get too small stones and places them in front of Spottedleaf. One stone for 'yes' another for 'no', and tells Bluestar to asks quesiton that can be answered with a yes or no. So she does and the first is if Yellowfang attacked her, Spottedleaf touches the 'no' stone. Bluestar voices her confusions on who when Spottedleaf gets an idea. She slides out a claw and points it at Firepaw's face. Bluestar is still very confused and thinks she means Firepaw but Spottedleaf slaps the 'no' stone again and does the claw to face motion again until Bluestar mutters the words 'claw face' and Spottedleaf slaps the 'yes' stone. Bluestar understands now and goes out to explain to the clan. The scene Bluestar sees outside is Sandpaw arguing with some cat (og was going to be lionheart but iirc he's dead rn) about not letting her leave camp to save her kin (or siblings idk who should be Sandpaw's parents).
And uh that's where the path ends rn
Though there is another scene when Firepaw asks Ravenpaw about the battle but Ravenpaw doesn't tell him and sort of snaps at him to leave him alone. Which just convinces Firepaw that oh yeah something weird happened during that battle that wasn't just the deputy's death.
Other than Redtail's quarrel with Starclan in my previous post nothing else is developed. I could talk about Spottedleaf's quick therapy session with Sandpaw but 1) I don't want to make this post longer than it is & 2) I don't know how to have as Sandpaw's parents and the conversation is like dependent on Redtail being her father but idk if I want him to be her father so </3

What do you think Regis and Ciri's relationship would be like? I was always a little upset that Geralt said he wanted Ciri to meet Zoltan and Reinart but he didn't say that about Regis or anyone from the Hansa. Do you think he wanted Ciri to meet Regis? What do you think their relationship would be like? I didn't understand why Regis was so impressed by Citi in Stigga, if she was obviously scared and they had like 5 min to talk. I don't like that all the characters are thrilled with Ciri at first sight. I also afraid that Ciri won't overcome her dislike of vampires as a witcher, and she and Regis won't have become friends :( What your thoughts on it?
this is such a good series of questions!!
i think that geralt did want ciri to meet the hansa, and i suppose she did - she mentions that they buried the bodies of geralt’s comrades outside of stygga when they left - though in the case of regis, of course, there was nothing left to bury. but i imagine that, in these moments, geralt told ciri about each member, their memories “living on” through story, which, in the witcher, is a form of immortality after death. but i think he specifically mentions wanting ciri to meet reynart and zoltan specifically because he thought (incorrectly, in reynart’s case :( ) that they were still alive, as opposed to the hansa, who he all saw either die in front of him or their corpses later when they buried them.
specifically for regis, i think geralt would have wanted ciri to meet him as they did become close and also regis helped a lot in terms of being geralt’s confidant during the quest to save ciri. but i also think that geralt would be still concious of how bizarre his and regis’ friendship is, and would think about it before any introductions - then again, the witcher seems to have less of these “planned introductions” and rather more of “by the seat of your pants introductions,” like when dandelion first meets ciri, it was both somewhat expected as (iirc?) they knew they were going to meet up with the other party (geralt and dandelion, yennefer and ciri), but how they actually meet up is a different story, because nothing in the witcher can ever be a calm summer afternoon, of course. so i believe that “the best” circumstances would be something like a formal introduction of ciri to all of the hansa members, geralt would simply introduce them all at the same time, because they’re each equally important in relation to him and ciri. i don’t thnk it would make sense for geralt to introduce regis separately from the rest of the hansa, because it would just take his character out of context (unless, of course, they were in some situation where the rest of the hansa wasn’t around). (and besides the point, but i think the most awkward formal introduction would be between cahir and ciri, because, it wouldn’t be an introduction at all, rather a third meeting. and canonically, cahir had dreams of ciri, so it would be even weirder since he’s already seen her a bunch and she hasn’t seen him at all.)
i think, honestly, a formal introduction between regis and ciri would go well, i don’t think too much would occur, even if only because of having questions but feeling that it’s not the right place or time to ask them -- like in a class, when a teacher asks, “any questions?...” and the entire class holds their breath because everyone is confused but no one knows exactly what to say -- i think it would be like that, because regis and ciri are BOTH very very naturally curious! regis would want to ask, so this is the child of destiny, this is your daughter, etc, etc, and ciri would want to ask pretty much everything about him to understand who he is. but i think both would understand, through experience, that a first introduction isn’t the time to ask every single question you have about a person. so it would be kind, but maybe overly formal becase of that awkwardness.
i of course have all these headcanons and such about regis becoming a parental and mentor figure to angouleme, so i’m inclined to compare their relationship to that with ciri, but i think that would be a mistake. because angouleme and ciri are similar in build and appearance, and some traits and experiences of course, but they’re still different in my opinion, and their difference is exponential when you consider the differences of how angouleme and regis met VS how ciri and regis met, and that angouleme had no one else in her life VS ciri already has parents she loves. so instead of being more parental and advice-giving, i think regis would be kind to ciri of course, but i don’t think they would ever spend a lot of time together because ciri already has parents to spend time with, so regis would be still a sort of avuncular figure, good for advice and to listen, but not the main source of support. which is fine, i think. i think that the thing that ciri would most rely upon regis for would be dealing with her actions from when she was a rat, i think both regis and ciri have come out of a period where they have been the source of a lot of violence, and ciri may struggle with this and need advice from someone who’s been through it already.
i feel like regis also wasn’t overly impressed with ciri when he met her, his reaction seems more like dandelion’s to me, where she just appears as some young girl, the young girl that she is. i think only the observant or the close to ciri will understand that she is powerful (geralt, yennefer, milva (observant), cahir (half and half, i think he only understands it later)). regis and dandelion are observant in that they are intelligent and academics, but they often miss the background, the “fabric of reality” as i’ve referred to it -- things like the horseprints in the snow, regis was very willing to explain away as being somthing mundane, not considering it could have been something else. i think this logicalness of his character and unintentional insensitivity to the “powers that be” would make him more stumped than astute with ciri, unable to really figure her out despire having experiences in common with her. another trait that ciri and regis both share is being mysterious and a little closed-off if one doesn’t pry, and since they have no real reason to pry, i don’t think they’d be as close as characters that are more opposite to one another in this respect.
although regis did frighten ciri when they first met in stygga, i feel like they would totally get over that after a while. although dandelion aphoristically says in a little sacrifice that there’s never a second chance to make a good first impression, i think to how geralt and ciri got off on the wrong foot, as did yennefer and ciri -- and even though it was a more severe misunderstanding with yennefer, she ultimately became closer to yennefer than anyone else. so i don’t think that regis’s first impression to ciri would affect their friendship down the line that much, since ciri seems to have a knack for getting into poor first impressions with adults. but i do think it would influence how she sees him, because of course it would. everyone else met regis as he is normally, the pinnacle of kindness and thoughtfulness -- ciri saw him basically turn an entire room into hellish chaos and rip a guy’s throat out! it’s comical to us as the readers because we know regis and his very mild-mannered side, but to ciri, this would have been terrifying, of course demonstrated by her clenching her jaw so her teeth wouldn’t chatter. i don’t think that there’s any reason that they couldn’t eventually get over this, but i think it would definitely influence how ciri sees regis overall -- i think that even geralt sometimes forgets about what regis is capable of, like in lady of the lake when he vehemently defends regis’s right to be present in a coversation, when regis can actually just overhear the entire conversation although he walked away. to sort of summarize the situation, if your friend, who is a normal guy to you, had epic powers that you saw a couple of times, but he never really used them around you that much, you might not think of him as some kind of force VS, when you met your friend for the first time he was demonstrating his epic powers in full force... you would be way more aware of his power. but, these friendships may not have been super different at heart, because there’s still the same people involved in them. this is what i think, that ciri would just be the one who’s most aware that regis is a vampire, because she’ll never forget the first meeting -- but that does not necessarily mean she would end up trusting or liking him less at all!
i feel with the context of ciri being a witcher, it’s interesting because by the time regis appears in the series, the term of “witcher” is beginning to be unraveled with its threads examined for the readers. regis is part of this, and cahir is as well -- though regis is a monster, geralt has no desire to kill him, and yet cahir is a man, and geralt has a desire to kill him. the term of “monster” is questioned to hell and back throughout the entire series, but especially in regards to i think to these characters: geralt, regis, cahir, ciri, vilgefortz, and bonhart. each is a “monster” in some respect, either being labelled as one or doing monstrous things, or both. in ciri’s case, it becomes way more about “good” and “evil” than it does for geralt, who is more concerned with the original exploration of “human” and “monster.” for ciri, she actually became evil, she was a monster. but through many things, she learned her lesson and becomes something much more vague than just “good” or “evil” in the end. this is a lot like regis, who transversed the dichotomy of “evil monster” and “good human” to become something that’s neither of each (well, regis strives to be a good human, but just because he strives for it does not mean he 100% is that). so i think that because they have that similiarity, they would be more understanding of one another. especially with time as ciri begins to understand herself and the concept of evil more (as she had difficulty with vysogota -- the paradox is that she herself became evil, but then of course has her famous “repay evil” speech -- by that logic, she would want to exterminate herself, her ethical logic being clouded by self-preservation... but i think by the end she comes to realize that her evil was wrong as well, that she is not innocent, and even though this is true, she can still work against evil).
tldr ciri and regis are very similar characters, they would be friends due to this mutual understanding, but he would not be the most important figure in her life. they would likely bond over their shared struggles with good & evil, and also likely bond over making fun of geralt (as everyone does in this series)

I've finally finished the first set! It's the same kids again tho, lol. But next time will be never before seen characters! So I wanted to get everyone drawn in the Omniverse style so I could visualize it all properly and it also made for a good opportunity to tweak designs as needed. They're all heavily referenced from official art so I could get it perfect and it made for great practice too! Of course I added some personal touches to the art style too cuz if I didn't it would have bothered me too much, lol.
Anyway, below the cut are finally proper profiles for all the kids and some additional info as well!
M'kay, so before we get started on the kids' bios, it's important to specify this is an alternate universe. And I don't mean it's an AU of the Prime Dimension. This is quite literally another universe within the omniverse. It's a mostly untouched one that even Paradox, Eon, and Maltruant have never been to and therefore a lot of things are different while a lot of things are still the same tho. It's unofficially called the Feniverse cuz Fen is the main character, but it does have a more official name. I'm just, uh… not aware of what that name is yet, lol!
Anyway, the Ben in this dimension branches off from the development of Prime Ben. Anybody remember the fact that the very first Ben 10K episode said Ben became the way he did in the future cuz he killed Vilgax by ripping him to pieces? Yep! That's what this Ben did too! But obviously he doesn't end up exactly like that Ben 10K. But so this dimension's Ben is therefore officially labelled Slayer Ben since some people refer to him as 'The Vilgax Slayer'. And that experience did definitely screw him up pretty bad, which is why he's so different from both Prime and 10K.
So from left to right:
Name: Fenrick Fih Rook-Tennyson
Age: 13
Height: 5'1
Voice: Todd Haberkorn
Bio: Fen is Ben and Rook's son. He has always been known for being quiet, surprisingly wise for his age, and quite the troublemaker. In actuality, only two of these things are true. Fen is more calm than he seems and as a young child he wasn't much of a talker, giving people the perception that he's quiet. Unfortunately, Fen also has many great ideas that end up badly. However, his ideas always come from the desire to help someone or solve a problem, but he always gets caught when his plans fall apart, making it look like he causes trouble. Some people even accuse him of trouble he didn't start, not helping his reputation. And as the son of Ben 10 of all people, he tends to be held to higher expectations. His wisdom never ceases to amaze people either. Even Ben and Rook get surprised at the wisdom he recites, wondering where exactly he learned it all. Due to that, he tends to put up a fight whenever himself or someone else gets wronged. He especially defends his friends and fellow alien kids in town. Although his only true friends seem to consist of his childhood friend, Millie, and his cousin, Sven.
At the age of 13, Fen discovered his ability to transform into a couple dozen of Ben's aliens. He quickly aspired to become a hero like his parents, much to Ben's disapproval, who worries about his safety. Despite that, Fen wants to form a hero trio with Sven and Millie and become the next generation of heroes in the galaxy.
Developer's Notes:
Fen's almost always been the same since I first created him, with just a few design and character tweaks done to him. He used to have a talent for jewelry making but that was switched out for him being wise for his age. He was also a bit more generic as far as the upbeat and reckless young male protagonist with famous parents archetype goes, but he's been adjusted enough that he now stands out from that archetype. Or, at least I hope, lol. Also, funny thing to note, Fenrick is not a real name! The closest name there is is Fenwick and iirc, that's a last name! I considered changing it to Fenwick or even Fenick but Fenrick is too special to me. His, uh, unfortunate name even has an impact in-universe with him being embarrassed by it and some using it to make fun of him. Also in-universe, I chalk it up to Ben having a dumb moment by misremembering the name Fenwick and Rook not knowing any better to catch Ben's mistake. Also, if you think his hair style is stupid, good. That's the point. He wanted it like that when he was seven and Ben and Rook were like 'sure' and it's been like that ever since.
Name: Millicent
Age: 13
Height: 5'0
Voice: Jennifer Paz
Bio: Millie is Ester's daughter. Her biological father is a human who decided he didn't want to be a father and Antonio soon stepped up to fill the father role when he and Ester got married. She has been friends with Fen and Sven since they were all babies. Millie is the level-headed one of the group and has been noted as being oddly emotionless. Her tone of voice is almost always flat and she usually keeps a straight face when not looking nervous. She never intends to be rude, but she will bluntly say whatever comes to her mind to her peers. At the same time, she can be nervous about making bold decisions and hates being a part of any decision making. She either refuses to do anything, or apologizes profusely for making a decision even when nothing bad happens.
Due to being more human than Kraaho, Millie is perfectly capable of handling the temperatures of Bellwood. However, she is still a bit sensitive to cold temperatures and needs to bundle up more than others during the winter. She sadly cannot handle the heat in the Hot Spot for very long either. Much to Millie's dismay, she was not born with the Kraaho's stretching ability. No one can figure out why, but it's simply something she can't do. As a result, she considers herself a normal human and has resigned herself to the fact that 'normal' is simply all she will ever be. Despite this, she has taken up quite a big secret that contradicts her decision and expresses who she wishes she really was.
Developer's Notes:
Millie only ever had one design change with her outfit and slight adjustment to the way her hair works and she's been the same ever since. Since the beginning she was always calm and stoic and I've always worried that she doesn't have much of a presence or purpose, but now I feel like she plays off Fen and Sven well enough that she stands out thanks to them. I've always flipped back and forth between Fen and/or Millie having a crush on each other, but I've finally settled on them both just seeing each other as near and dear loyal friends. It ultimately works out better that way and doesn't cause conflict with Millie's personal story or Fen's real love interest(and the one other character with feelings for him). Her name also used to be Mina, but since I've now taken that as one of my own names, it felt really awkward to keep her as that. I used to have a habit of naming characters with names I wanted before realizing I could change my name in the future, lol.
Name: Sven Elijah Levin
Age: 12
Height: 4'8
Voice: Wally Wingert
Bio: Sven is Gwendolyn and Kevin's son and Jenny's older brother. Sven is a rather unfortunate boy. He is constantly terrified of everything to the point of running millions of 'bad ends' through his head. He can barely talk most of the time without being a stuttering mess and always thinks he's going to be in trouble for anything and everything he does. Everyone is certain he either has severe anxiety or paranoia, or likely both. Perhaps even more. Who knows. Sven tends to cling to his cousin, Fen, who he looks to for guidance and advice, most of which isn't anything Sven should actually be following. Because he is a grade below Fen and Millie, he's often left alone to deal with problems in his own classes, or really just panic about them. He does, however, have a close relationship with Zed and likes to be the one to take her out on walks in the afternoon. And not many people know it, but he's actually a pretty decent artist.
Even though he is an Osmosian thanks to being Kevin's son, no one knows what ability he may have. It doesn't really matter though, since he wants to stay out of any potential trouble that having powers could bring him. Regardless of that, he has an interest in magic thanks to Gwendolyn's expertise in it. He even sneaks peeks at her spellbook and the strange bag she keeps in her office that he can hear a voice coming from at night.
Developer's Notes:
Now Sven is a character whose personality has always been pretty much the same while his design was never consistent until reaching his current one. He was originally very anime looking and in a gaudy orange outfit that I regret even thinking about, lol. He looks much better in neutral colors. I guess there's not much to say on him though, which makes me worry he's a tad unremarkable, but perhaps it's just since I'm leaving out the things about him that are better left discovering on your own… if I ever get to finishing that fic that is… ahaha.
Name: Saki Boulais
Age: 13
Height: 4'11
Voice: Stephanie Sheh
Bio: Julie and Hervé's daughter, one of the more popular girls in school, and the most deceptive in town. Saki has gone her whole life, since the first time she told a successful lie, tricking people into thinking she's a completely innocent little girl who's never done anything wrong. This allows her to get away with anything she wants, and she especially enjoys getting Fen in trouble when they butt heads with each other. The two have even been enemies since they first met at age three and Saki pulled Fen's tail, he pulled her hair in return, and she managed to get away with claiming he started it. Their feud has even turned into murderous intent, which Saki refuses to hide.
On a lighter note, Saki always has the company of her two best friends, Rachel and Diane, who will gladly join her in her tormenting of others. Saki even greatly admires the most popular girl in school, Fiona, and whoever the mysterious new hero girl, Miracle-M, is.
Developer's Notes:
Yes, Saki was always meant to be That Bitch in the cast. I feel like it's unrealistic to have all next gen kids be friends and get along with each other. It's perfectly believable to have some of them dislike, and in Saki and Fen's case, even hate each other. It makes it more interesting with them being Ben and Julie's kids respectively too. Adds good drama, lol. But anyway, really the only thing that's changed about Saki is her hairstyle and some other slight design tweaks like her necklace, shorts, and shoes. I also just recently changed her colors from purple and blue-ish purple to just blue so that isn't not all three girls here wearing purple. She also looks better in blue and it contrasts nicely with Julie's pink imo. I suppose I do worry about her being disliked since she's so antagonistic and with her being Julie's daughter, I really hope her character doesn't send the wrong message since I genuinely love Julie a lot. It really is just For The Drama Of It All. I think it's really fun to watch her go into full 'Murder Fen' mode too. Very fun to write, lol. Oh right, also Boulais is my headcanon last name for Herve. I just wanted her to have his last name but he doesn’t have one! So I had to pick one for myself.
Name: Jennifer Elizabeth Levin
Age: 10
Height: 4'6
Voice: Brina Palencia
Bio: Jenny is Gwendolyn and Kevin's daughter and Sven's younger sister. She is surprisingly serious and stoic for her age. She gets annoyed by her family's constant 'abnormal' status and wishes everyone could just act normal with no weird events happening. She throws herself into school work as a means to keep herself out of it and tries to keep her personal life at school with friends far away from her life involving family. She seems to have a quick temper, but really she just acts that way to get what she wants since she knows it works and in the hopes that she can use it as an opportunity to vent her frustrations. She hates getting involved in her brother and cousin Fen's antics, but sometimes her no nonsense attitude is needed to resolve a situation. She has a strange obsession with eating bread, finding it the perfect food and almost always exclusively eating something with bread involved. Gwendolyn definitely worries about her diet, but Kevin finds it harmless.
She may not have the spark like her mother, but she doesn't dare confess that her status as an Osmosian became very apparent just recently. As a result, she has a stash of broken objects stuffed under her bed and cracked floorboards that she covers with her rug.
Developer's Notes:
Jenny went through a decent redesign. Character wise I feel like I still don't have some things etched in stone for her as I still haven't gotten to the point in my writing where she does anything of interest. She could honestly probably end up pretty different from her bio here if I'm not careful, lol. The characters write themselves as they say after all! But I definitely prefer the newer Jenny compared to the previous way I envisioned her character, which was designed to fit a character type I actually hate just cuz I felt it worked for her. Thankfully I can avoid it tho with the big overhaul I did after returning to these characters. And I do like Jenny cuz I like writing her dialogue, but it still feels like her character is still that of a person I would not wanna be around, lol.
Name: Bevel Tennyson
Age: 20
Height: 5'9
Voice: Dee Bradley Baker/Yuri Lowenthal
Bio: Bevel is the youngest of the Big Chill offspring born twenty years ago. They were in an accident involving a passing spaceship on their way to Kylmyys that damaged their right wing to the point they could no longer fly. It's suspected the wing has severe nerve damage, making Bevel unable to unfold it as well. Their siblings helped them make it the rest of the way to Kylmyys, but over the years, the dangers of Kylmyys left the siblings with only Bevel and the eldest two, Emboss and Curve, remaining. As they got older, Bevel could never forget their only memory of their parent, who the others didn't remember. A desire to reunite with their parent caused Bevel to make the lone decision to explore the universe in search of their parent.
Bevel is a very cheerful and sweet person, but their secluded upbringing and lack of knowledge about Earth makes them very naive. They will believe anything they are told and have a very black and white moral view due to not understanding nuance. They have strange habits that appear unnatural in their attempt to act human and have an intense craving for Earth candy. They have also taken up being a mercenary to get by after leaving Kylmyys and once they join the Tennyson family, Rook suggests they use the skills they've picked up to become a Plumber, but that's an idea Ben isn't fully onboard with.
Developer's Notes:
Right off the bat I want to shout out that his old human design used to keep the Necrofriggian antennae. I still think it's a cute design even tho it wasn't canon compliant with the antennae. The only things that have changed about him too are just that, his hair style, and his shoes. Plus I stuck bunny ears on his hoodie recently as a shout out to those antennae he used to have. Otherwise he's always been the same. And I guess I haven't explained why he has a human form, but that's also an answer to discover later. I didn't draw his Necrofriggian form tho cuz we should all know what the UAF design looks like(and yes I am screwing with art style difference bullshit cuz OV Big Chill is not real and you cannot convince me otherwise). And I also just realized his pronouns aren't matching up in this section so I should add his official pronouns are he/they, but characters refer to him by he/him and narration uses they/them. He is still a Necrofriggian and therefore doesn't do the whole gender thing after all. Which is why he's fine with anyone viewing him as whatever they want to too. He just goes with it. That's also why he doesn't get what's weird about him calling Ben 'Mother' after he learned the word, lol.

Midnight Motorist - An Essay
I promised this awhile ago, but my thoughts on Midnight Motorist... This mini-game has literally kept me awake for hours on two separate occasions trying to figure it out, lol! So, reading the Updated Freddy Files *suggests, not confirms* that Toy Chica: The High School Years may be how William lured each child. I made notes on this, of course.
Although I listed who was used as a stand in for each, it has no bearing on the actual child killed.
The first, represented by Foxy, is already dead. I assumed this was a stand in for Norman/CC.
Second, represented by Freddy, was lured away with promises to help with homework.
Third, represented by Wolf. Run over their dog. We all know this is referring to Susie/Chica.
Fourth, represented by Toy Bonnie. It was suggested that their house be set on fire and then Chica uses her body to put out the flames. Best I could settle for this one was perhaps pulling a fire alarm at the restaraunt, or something similar.
Fifth, Funtime Foxy. Live hostages. Presumably luring a child away with promises that their friend / missing friend is in the back room.
Sixth, the Puppet. This one is the most interesting and why I'm including it here. Chica says "I'll come over to their house later, maybe break through a window, or set the house on fire and smoke them out [IIRC, I am paraphrasing a little]" The window, in my honest opinion, has to refer to Midnight Motorist. Scott has made a point of adding things in a following game to clarify the game before (starting at least since Sister Location). With the other one referencing Susie and Fruity Maze, I think this theory holds up, although it doesn't really help solve Midnight Motorist I think it's very important to note. (William has as much of an obsession with fire as Henry, huh?)
Lastly, there is Pigpatch. It's implied William would have knocked out a child and told them he rescued them after being "kidnapped". I really like this one.
The number of victims adds up to the number of children: BV, Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie, Chica, Golden Freddy, and Puppet.
Now that that's out of the way, I feel this heavily implies the footprints outside the window in MM are William's. The feet match the Glitchtrap suit, which most of us assume is a prototype for Spring Bonnie. Not only that, but obviously the springlock suits wouldn't work in the rain. Second, if you take some logic to it and see Charlotte as the first victim (no suit, no hiding the body, developing MO) then this killing would be the start of his MO--kind of an "in-between" point where he's evolving. Now, as to who the people in the house are...
In my fic, I kept the general idea that it was William as mustard man (thank you MatPat, this is my fav name for our mysterious fellow). Mostly because despite the evidence listed there is still a ton of evidence supporting it:
Later That Night - this is the name of the game file for MM.
Rain - Due to the in-game rain and this title its heavily implied to be just after Charlotte's death.
Grey Text - Michael is the only one to have the grey text and has similarities to Chair Person. (Note: I think Matpat did point out the color is slightly different, but it's still grey.)
Purple Car - William is the only one seen with a Purple Car back in one of the mini-games (FNAF 2, IIRC). To further support this, the car is also seen as an easter egg in the Dreadbear DLC of Help Wanted (with purple headlights). This is probably the most damning evidence that Mustard Man is William, in my opinion... but then how do the footprints make sense?
In my fic, I explained it away as footprints from the evening before (it was the best I could muster at the time) but this is super weak :V So this kind of brings us to alternative theories. If it is William, the supporting evidence is... good evidence of that. So, the other options are:
A Child Victim's Family - This is my second favorite theory because I think it could possibly work for, say, TOYSNHK [The One You Should Not Have Killed, hereby pronounced Toy-Shnuck] (who I made Cassidy). The problem with this is the child's gender is referred to as male. And there's a huge debate on Cassidy being female in game lore and TOYSNHK/GF being male. It IS a gender neutral name and wouldn't be the first time Scott changed a gender (see: Puppet), BUT it's pretty weak since all the info we have on TOYSNHK is recent. It could be another child that isn't Susie, though, but why show some random child as opposed to an important one? PizzaSim's games all revolve around specifics like Puppet (the first to die overall) and Susie (the first to die of the main five).
Henry is Mustard Man - This is the theory my wife likes. I can sort of see it and I even considered it at one point, but there isn't much evidence to go on. Why is the car purple is the biggest wrench for me. I also have problems with Mustard Man's attitude ("This is MY house", "He'll be sorry") Even if Henry was torn up about Charlotte, I can't see him treating his kids this way. This would also heavily imply the missing window kid to be Sammy, which hasn't been referenced in the game lore at all. He was barely mentioned in the novel trilogy, even. This also makes Gray Text either Aunt Jen or Henry's wife. There's just not enough to support this, in my opinion.
UPDATE 5/28/21 - Please see this post analyzing Fazbear Fright’s story “What We Found” for a more detailed look at what I’m about to explain that supports the Henry theory: Also from the books, CC / Norman is now referred to as Evan.
For this to work, we must assume Henry is an alcoholic after Charlotte’s death. I think the “later that night” evidence becomes somewhat irrelevant, because if this was the night of Charlotte’s death it wouldn’t really make sense. Part of me wondered if it took place after FNAF 2′s Springtrap cutscene, but the footprints don’t match. It has to be Spring Bonnie or Glitchtrap. Also, Evan and Elizabeth have also died by this point because neither are seen in the mini-game in this theory. You also must assume, based on the story evidence, that Henry married / stayed with Mrs. Afton after William either “died” or they divorced--they had to have been together for an x amount of time as for Mrs. Afton to be living with Henry but also the fact that Mrs. Afton kept Michael and the purple car. Henry using William’s car wouldn’t be unheard of if Mrs. Afton kept the car and the house, I just don’t feel Henry would use it unless he had been using the vehicle awhile. This also explains the Bonnie-esque footprints outside since William would want to come get / visit his kid he’s [most likely] no longer allowed to see. He may even be taking Michael back to the FNAF 4 house (implying that the house we see in MM is Henry’s). Speaking of, if we assume William’s intentions are [likely] bad, he’s probably taking Michael back to experiment with the Funtime-Nightmares, if you believe this theory. I think this theory is probably true considering the random grave (which, in this context has no answer except a Twisted animatronic aka a Nightmare) AND because the blueprints in Sister Location SHOW the Nightmares on the display during Funtime Freddy’s repair, implying they are real and not imagined. This is also assumed to be punishment for Michael killing Evan. I think Michael goes WITH William because of his tumultuous relationship with a now mentally ill and drunkard Henry. Henry probably knows that William killed Charlotte and a common theme in some works is a parent seeing their child (or a murderer) in a child aka Michael reminds Henry of William, so he neglects him (which in itself wouldn’t be out of place for Henry, since he already wasn’t a very attentive parent).
The main issue with this theory is that it sort of assumes that CC was Michael and not Evan. I don’t think that’s the case, though.
While we're on this version, I also want to discuss evidence for the MM driver being drunk. Not only are you driving on the opposite side of traffic, the Files book explicitly states "crashing" into the secret road for the mini-game. Not that Henry couldn't be drunk, especially if he just found Charlotte dead, but... for me personally it seems a stretch. And I already mentioned the car.
William's Father - This is an interesting idea, but the foot prints kind of rule it out. At least there's an explanation for the car, though, right? Still, it doesn't explain the foot prints unless you assume maybe his father was more alike Afton than we thought. But then why bother showing us background on our killer so late with no pay off? I easily dismiss this theory.
A new theory, at least one I haven't seen posed yet:
Vanny - That's right. Vanny. What if she survived/lived? Some leaks even suggest she may be related to the Aftons. Mustard Man's color is similar to Princess Quest's heroine. It explains the footprints, but doesn't explain the car. This would make for a nice foreshadowing of Vanny, IMO, but it’s weak at best.
You know when Matpat discusses "that one puzzle peice that we're missing"? That's this entire mess of a mini-game. Don't get me wrong, the music is bawlin and it's fun to talk about, otherwise I wouldn't write about it, but it is undoubtedly FRUSTRATING.
What are your opinions?
I also wanted to point out some other interesting things from the Files book I haven't seen discussed: There is confirmation of two sets of gold suits. Not only is there the FNAF 2 phone call, but the text specifies between Spring Bonnie/Springtrap and Fredbear/Golden Freddy. IE: FNAF 4 suit is Springtrap but the one from Stage 01 is Spring Bonnie. This could be oversight, but... I don't think it is. I'm sure most of the fandom does ASSUME this anyway, but I felt it was worth noting. (In my fic, they are the same suit, but the second sets are upgraded after the original failures).
The poster behind Scraptrap. Nothing really interesting here, but there is an image of a building with two gargoyle (lion?) statues behind him. Presumably this would be a police station or Fazbear Fright. I just thought it was cool since I never noticed this in the image. My initial thought was this might be a reference to the hospital in Man in 1280, but that’s a stretch.
Jr's. This is the random building in Midnight Motorist in which Green Man says "gtfo" to our Mustard Man. I should mention I feel that is good evidence to it being William or Henry, depending what the building is. We can 100% say it is NOT a bar (in my fic, that's what I used, even though it doesn't make sense. I don't see a drunk person driving to a second bar so close to their home when they could have gone there initially, BUT then I am a home-drinker when I do drink, so I don't know the night life). The Files refer to it as simply "a restaraunt". Whether this IS a FNAF location (also referred to as restaraunts) or just some random eatery, it's something to contemplate. I am in the camp that it isn't FNAF 2, at least.
I have some other things from Fazbear Frights' Blackbird I wanna discuss, too, but I'll wait until the book is out to help you all avoid spoilers.
Now, this is all just my thoughts on it. Please don't take anything too seriously (as Scott says don't rack your brain on this, it's not worth it). I just think these are some points that haven't been discussed before.
Also, if you wanna read my theory on why Scraptrap is partly the Golden Freddy suit, I have that theory here.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk? <-- is that a dated reference? Probably.

Amity is the Weakest Witch; A theory on magic ability
I was rewatching some episode of the owl house, and I had a thought.
I’ve seen people talk about how powerful Willow is and how much we see her do once she gets moved to the plant coven track. And thats 100% true, Willow is fantastic, but as I kept watching, I noticed, so was Gus. He’s just as impressive as Willow, if not more than. Which made Amity look pretty weak by comparison. That got me thinking, which lead to this theory.
I think that Amity is weaker than the other main kids, and possibly ever other Witch we’ve seen at Hexside, based solely on innate magical ability.
In this post I’ll go over examples of Amity being weaker, what being weaker really means, why that may be, and what this could mean for the story in terms of plot and parallels!
This one’s gonna be long so under the cut it goes. (tldr at the end!)
First off, let’s talk about Magical Ability.
As Eda explains, all witches have a sack of bile attached to their heart which lets them do magic. My assumption is that by having a larger sack of bile, a witch would have ‘more magic’ than someone with a small sack.
In comparison, let’s say it’s musical talent. If someone is born with perfect pitch and good rhythm, and other things like that, then you can assume they’d be better at music then someone who doesn’t have perfect pitch, and whose rhythm is a bit off. However, if someone trains and works hard for a long time they could become better at music than the person who was born with talent, based on merit of technical skill and dedication.
It’s a common concept, that hard work and dedication are more valuable than talent people are born with.
In the world of the owl house, I believe magic works the same way!
So what’s my proof that Amity is any less magical than the others? She is top student, after all (then again, post that episode the badge literally never comes up again, but for the sake of argument, let’s say she’s still top student)
Let’s compare some magic, according to what each character has done in their respective tracks!
Starting with Gus, some of the most impressive magic he’s done!
- Created an illusion with free will - Created three unique illusions of him and his friends - Created fifteen illusions of himself while running
That can’t be easy, Gus is really impressive with his magic!
Willow too, is very impressive! Despite being a late bloomer and being teased, she’s done a lot of great magic.
- Creating vines that took over the entire school - Making plants that look like people - and a bunch of other examples (especially in Wing it Like Witches, not to mention all of Hooty’s Moving Hassle)
Willow is really powerful, but powerful at plant magic. She can’t do abominations well at all. Keep that in mind as I move on to Amity.
Compared to what we’ve seen Gus and Willow do, Amity is kind of... underwhelming.
Amity’s top accomplishments include:
- Making an abomination that can follow instructions (twirling, carrying her, high fives) - That but bigger. - thats pretty much it.
While Abominations have their uses, in general they aren’t that impressive, or versatile. While it’s hard to compare different magic, when directly pitted against each other, Gus and Willow have more going for them.
If Gus, Willow, and Amity all got into a fight, Willow would probably win. In episode 3, Willow and Amity do ‘fight’ with Amity’s abominations (around 3-5 iirc) against Willows vines (huge, wrapping around the entire school, able to move and carry people independently of the other vines) and it’s clear who the victor is.
While it’s less clear who would win in a fight between Gus and Amity, (Gus’s illusions don’t seem to be tangible, meaning that a fight depends more on the circumstances (planning, trickery, etc) than pure magic.
When comparing Amity and Gus’s magic, the similarities are easy to see. They both create humanoids (however Amity is limited to only monsters while Gus can make projections and objects) that can fulfil tasks. However when we compare their differences, I think Gus comes out on top.
Gus’s Illusions: - free will and thought - can create several unique illusions at once - can form words, witches and humans, and more - can be defeated by being touched
Amity’s abominations: - follow instructions - can create a few at once - all look the same - can only create monsters - stronger than illusions
While abominations are better weapons, I’d say that illusions are more technical and creative, and have more effort in them.
So compared to the other witch kids, Amity is the weakest in terms of pure magic ability.
Now you might be saying ‘hey that’s not fair! Amity can do more than just abominations’ and you’re right! But there’s a few things to note.
a) we see amity using a training wand to create fire spells, and we can assume this isnt something new she just got. why would she get a wand to learn something new she wasn’t going to need. by need I mean,
b) witches are locked into a single coven, so they can only perform one type of magic. since amity is in the abomination track, unless she manages to get into the emperors coven (which considering current episodes, seems like a scam and impossible) she will eventually be sticking doing only abomination magic.
so the earlier point still stands, at least for the sake of argument.
Sub topic: what does it mean to be weak?
In the context, Amity seems to have less powerful magic then the other witch kids. Despite that, she’s a hard worker (hence being top student) and trains her magic ability to be better than the other students. When I refer to amity as weak, I mean that I believe she was born with less magic than the other students, and is working overtime to become more powerful.
I also have a theory that amity’s brown hair is tied into her having less magic, hence the dying of it and the symbolism in her drawings.
For those who don’t know, in every drawing Amity’s done of herself, her roots aren’t showing. If the green is symbolism of magic abilty (since the colour is associated with Azura, who can be seen as representing magic) then it’s telling that Amity’s ideal versions of herself include being naturally green haired, or in symbolism terms, naturally talented with magic.
moving on the the next part of this analysis: why is amity weak?
My guess is that Amity was just born with less magic. Maybe a smaller bile sack, or something like that. There’s also a possibly that Amity was cursed when she was really young (like sleeping beauty, just been born and got cursed young) by someone, further adding to the parallels between her and Eda.
I’d love to hear other people’s theories as to why Amity isn’t as magical as other characters, since theres a lot of reasons it could be.
How Does Amity Being Weak Affect the Story?
a few reasons!
first off, if Amity has less innate magic then the other witches, than Luz has no innate magic, which further gives the characters something in common and pulls them together
second, if amity’s parents care so much about their reputations as Blight’s then having a ‘weak’ child would be disgraceful, hence why Amity is seemingly pushed harder than her slacker siblings.
third, it explains a lot of amity’s behaviour. When amity and Luz make up in covention, Luz wins amity over by explaining that she’s working hard to be a witch. for someone that’s worked her entire life to get where she is, that would be the first time that Amity truly understood Luz, for a moment. it also lends a lot more weight to her line ‘Humans have no magical abilty, but I doubt that’ll stop you’
So what’s the point? (tldr)
Amity is likely weaker than the other witches for some reason, either by being cursed or born that why. Her magic is less impressive by comparison to Gus and Willow’s magic. This explains Amity’s commitment to hard work, and also brings her closer to Luz.
If you have any thoughts lemme know, this got a bit ramble and I have no clue if it even makes sense, but thank you for reading it all!

What are some of your favorite things about Taishiro?
I was about 2K in when I realized this could have simply been a short list but since I’m the Queen of Not Shutting TF Up, here’s some terribly rambly not-quite-meta:
1. Their characters! I really think as separate characters they’re really fun to sit down with and just consider what makes them tick. It’s been years since I dipped my toes back into the fandom and I have honestly never been bored of them. I love a lot about the other characters of course, but there’s something about Taichi and Koushirou and their stories and their growth and development that feels — I don’t know, timeless? To me, at least. I also just think Koushirou’s arc is Really Important in general, but that’s for another time. I also love the way they interact in the canon and how their personalities kind of work with each other which leads me to:
2. Their Dynamic! It’s easy to say they’re the quintessential Lovable Jock and Nerd archetypes, but overall I think one of the biggest appeals to me is how they don’t really fall back on typical tropes too much and they honestly compliment each other as characters rather than contrast. I think in the digital world specifically they were both on equal footing— they were both pretty important exactly for the reasons that made them different. Taichi was a people person, so he led them. He was a go-getter so he fought with raw power and heart. Koushirou was a thinker, a planner, and so he used his skills and knowledge to unlock secrets, to get them home, to understand their circumstances more. It could have led to a lot more fighting and shrugging each other off to see which side worked better: brawn or brains. Not to say they didn’t have squabbles, but the above was never really the exact conflict in itself iirc? There were quite a few times Taichi had to lean back on Koushirou’s skills and ask him for help, and there were plenty of times most of the kids relied on Taichi and Agumon’s strength— but that didn’t mean Koushirou shied away from fighting either (let’s not talk about the clown episodes pls). They fill in for each other’s weaknesses and I think that’s both in the digital world and just their relationship overall. Koushirou is more calm, more collected and strategic, more of a listener, and Taichi is the more brash, the more emotional one for better or worse, sometimes more optimistic to Koushirou’s realism, which I think evens out in some way. This also kind of feeds into how I feel that:
3. They better each other! Taichi has a bit of an impulsivity issue with a yo-yoing icarus complex. His heart is always in the right place, I believe, but sometimes his action takes precedent or he gets swept up or overwhelmed to the point of frustration-- which I think is where we see his occasional outbursts of anger or complete dejection. Personally I think he needs someone steady; more reasonable to even him out when things get too much. There’s a scene in the novels about the Nanomon part where Sora even thinks as much: “If Taichi didn’t have at least one person around to scold him and shake him up, he would never get back on his feet.” She thinks she’s the only who fits the bill in this particular scene at least (her attempt doesn’t work but overall I agree she’s a really steadying presence for Taichi, too), but I do also personally think it also spells out Koushirou fairly well. One thing I’ve kind of noticed, and it might just be my own poor interpretation/memory or something idk, is that he never really feeds too much into Taichi’s anger. He might be some part of the cause or the receiver of his frustration at times, but he doesn’t feed it back with the same level of anger and fists and I think that helps Taichi a lot. Most of the time Taichi seems to understand what he did wrong right after losing his temper, apologizes, lets out some of his frustration through venting maybe, and then they feel like they move on. Koushirou doesn’t throw it back in his face, but he doesn’t necessarily openly excuse it either (usually appearing more Stern I guess when speaking back), and Taichi doesn’t come off like he’s been secretly agitated by Koushirou for five hundred years— like it generally seems just a product of the time, like it stemmed from outside frustrations and internal struggles and they find a way to move on. And even with all the respect he shows towards Taichi, I don’t think Koushirou is blinded by it. For all his issues with people and believing he can’t know them without knowing himself, I think Koushirou is actually pretty good at reading people to a certain degree (maybe not all of their cues, but definitely them on a core basis). There’s a scene in the novels where Yamato tries to vy for the leadership position, telling Taichi he’s too soft-hearted, and Koushirou jumps up immediately to Shut It Down, specifically saying he won’t recognize anyone else but Taichi. Surprised by this, Yamato tries to spin it as Koushirou just being one of “Taichi’s fans”, to which he also Shuts That The Fuck Down with an accurate description of why Yamato could never replace Taichi (spoiler: it’s that he’s too emotional and Yamato concedes because he can’t argue lmao). There’s a specific line in that scene which says Koushirou, “wasn’t speaking out of loyalty to any one party,” so I think the point of it all is that, objectively, Koushirou believes Taichi is the best leader solely because of his qualities and not just because of Koushirou’s own personal biases. He’s loyal to Taichi because he knows him, trusts him, and believes in him as a person (and he’s so right to). I really don’t think it’s some sort of hero worship-- I think Koushirou can look at Taichi and see all the cracks in his armor, but instead of hollow space he sees potential; he sees the pieces welded together with gold and all the good Taichi wants to do, can do, will do, and Koushirou is willing to support him, which sometimes means telling Taichi when he’s faltered along the path and not just going along with it. I just think this is a pretty profound thing from a character who spends a lot of time distancing himself from others, including his parents up until the episode they hash things out. Essentially I think he wants the best for Taichi and he’s not going to pull the proverbial punches when needed, and I think that’s good for Taichi on an emotional level sometimes. Like his mellow compliment. He respects Taichi, and the thing is, I feel like Taichi respects him in kind. I know there’s a scene where Koushirou gets mad at him and Taichi is like, “No please don’t be,” in 02 but I’m drawing a blank as to the why right now (it’s been longer since I rewatched that than 01 haha)… but it’s a very big difference imho on how Taichi reacts to other people being angry at him. Like, he doesn’t want to disappoint Koushirou, like his opinion of Taichi matters to him. I think Hikari falls into this, too, and Sora probably, but just not the point of this post. But in general Taichi realizes Koushirou’s strengths and utilizes them. The biggest example is when they try to open the gate and Taichi asks Koushirou for his opinion on how to place the cards. This flusters Koushirou because he’s not exactly an attention seeker. Nothing he has done in the series has been towards the goal of recognition-- just simply knowledge. And Taichi knows this. He knows Koushirou is smart and lifts him up and literally tells him he’s important and the group openly agrees (here’s also how the manhwa interpreted it lmao). It is so much more blatant in the 2020!Digimon series lmao but I do think it’s sprinkled in the OG series, too, with the kids being a little less overt and little more Complicated regarding these kinds of interactions. Also on the subject of bettering each other, Taichi is the sole reason Koushirou decides to go to the camp in the first place. This is something that used to be explored in a looott of fics back in the Hay Day but essentially my point here is: Taichi is someone who will bring Koushirou out of his comfort zone, but I don’t think he’d actually intend or suggest something that would bring him discomfort. The camp itself is very blatantly not Koushirou’s Scene, but we know he doesn’t make decisions lightly. He doesn’t do it to advance his social skills, either. He does it because Taichi asked him to and he trusts Taichi enough to have his best interests at heart and I think it does in some way lend to Koushirou coming out of his shell overall. But again, that could just be me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
4. They trust each other! I went through a lot of that above I think so I don’t have more to add at the moment, but it’s worth pointing out specifically.
5. They’re also not Perfect! Sounds counter intuitive from everything else I’ve said, but it’s true?? It makes thinking about their dynamic really interesting and fun to explore because they feel more like real people with flaws and their relationships with each other and others have flaws and I just love when shows can do that?? Like just give subtle enough nuances to characters and their relationships so they just feel more realistic— like you could meet another person like any of them off the street?? I digresssss. But more specifically for taishirou it makes wanting to explore their relationship more interesting— what would happen in this one scenario? What is it like when they grow older? I think for instance communication is probably an issue of sorts between them for a while. I can’t come up with the words for it right now and there’s been better stated meta before haha, but I do especially think that Koushirou would have a hard time opening up on a more emotional level for some years and Taichi would eventually begin to see that in some way as rejection until he felt the need to say/do something about it. Like I think, accidentally, Koushirou keeps some of his walls up and maybe while Taichi’s scaled most of them effortlessly, there’s like a glass left that if they’re not trying to see it, almost looks like it’s not there. If that makes sense? But this isn’t something I think is permanent, because I think there’s a section in the novels, too, where Taichi is elated that Koushirou speaks openly and honestly with him, something like, “It made me happy you spoke so casually to me, like you opened your heart to me.” So I think in a matter of time Koushirou would open up more, it’s just hard because he struggles with a lot of self worth and just… existential dread—this child I swear??? But I’m very interested in considering how they grow more, grow into each other, the way they’d learn to work better together not only on saving the world, but I don’t know like, splitting up the chores. Better people have put better words together, but I tried…!
6. Friendship is a wonderful basis for a romantic relationship! It doesn’t have to be the basis of every ship/relationship, but I think it’s a grand thing to forge as a foundation and merged with everything above just makes it better to me. They can be best friends and lovers haha. Also just childhood friends into lovers is still a good trope, yes, thank you. But, I do also love their friendship just as friendship. Again, I just really love their dynamic on the whole—I just also really love them being in love lmao.
7. They fit a “Quiet, but profound” love kind of feeling for me and it will be my end! Again this is personal interpretation, but the way I kind of feel about them is that they’re this very quiet sort of love. Like it’s There and it’s grand, but it’s not as loud as some others might be. It’s small smiles and the brush of their hands, it’s the silent, “Are you alright?” It’s dinner reheated and left by the computer; a small neck massage because Taichi sees the way Koushirou’s scrunching his eyebrows together and that means he’s going to get a headache. It’s Koushirou deciding to buy expensive tickets for a soccer match, not because he’s dying to go, but because he wants to enjoy something with Taichi that he enjoys and it’s worth the pretty penny (still not over this being technically canon). It’s the quiet stare when Taichi comes home and everything’s overwhelming and Koushirou just knows he needs to talk it out, for someone to listen. It’s looking at the other person, knowing them, seeing all the cracks and thinking, “I want to wake up to this every morning.” Its a gradual thing, but it’s also a built thing. Years of self discovery and growth, of being at each other’s side, of integrating into each other’s lives so that it’s just all natural. Years of mutual pining. Because I’m human and I need this.
8. They fit this quote and it fucks me up:
Obviously none of this is to down play the enormous help that Agumon and Tentomon were to their respective growth. I also think the rest of the cast is wonderful and unique in their own way. Like I think Yamato pushes Taichi to Do Better in his own way, is the perfect foil, but also friend who much later on kind of Gets Him on a level others don’t necessarily, you know?? I honestly Love Them All So Much, I just…. feel like I need to point that out haha. But there is something special in the Taichi/Koushirou dynamic that has kept me invested for over a decade and I’m terrible at the meta/word thing but these are definitely some of the things I love about the ship.
#taishirou#taishiro#otp: the only exception#Digimon is a Fun Series#I always doubt things as soon I write or think them so I hope all of this makes sense hahaaa#Also thanks so much for the question anon it was definitely a fun thing to think about#Thank you so much!!#Sorry if this was completely off base haha

Anyway more OC parent details
I already thought of Messilandre (Mirialan Jedi Knight’s) here (link). They have a pretty developed relationship and Messilandre’s relationship with her mom got changed significantly since I started her character -- initially she was just like given up to be a jedi and raised in the order. here her mom wanted to have a kid, messilandre was raised both with her mom and with the jedi. her dad didn’t magically come back to life though he’s still super dead (Dead when she was a young kid, right before Meera, her younger sister, was born)
Lycaea’s dad is a lot more fleshed out than her mom right now, because initially her mom started the story dead, but I might change that since I’m running through a version of her mom with my friend to see how she acts. It would be interesting to bring her back (like IDK she either faked her own death, was left genuinely assumed to be dead and decided never to make her way back to the empire) and then Lycaea confronts the fact that she’s a person, not like some... idealized amazing because she’s not my shitty dad
Tai also already has a pretty fleshed out parental figure, because he’s in Lycaea’s family. His mom (Lycaea’s stepmom) is a sith sorcerer, and his mom married Lycaea’s dad. when Tai and Lycaea were living together in the same house they could not stand each other. Raihon (Tai’s mom) doted on Tai and definitely ignored lots of his flaws (well “””Flaws””” which in this case means not being super tough -- he did have other flaws but they weren’t considered flaws in the empire) so she blames herself for his presumed death on korriban for pushing him to go too soon. the two of them (lycaea and tai) have a half brother Patrus who GTFO’d from the empire and any fighting drama as soon as he could, which makes him the smartest of the three
aereinys’s parents don’t have any backstory yet other than they had to have either been estranged from their families or exiled from chiss space or both, because otherwise i can’t imagine their clans being totally okay with a newborn chiss baby being raised in an imperial orphanage. even though the chiss are allies with the empire i still don’t think they’d be like “Hmm this sounds like a good idea”
and also cuz i talked to my friend about that they said maybe aereinys’s parents got in political trouble but i haven’t thought of what kind yet
harin so’s parents also have yet to be given personalities or names. though zie does have a sibling with a somewhat developed personality. I know that Voss seemed kind of fatalistic so whatever career harin so’s parents had, zie presumably also would have been expected to have (IIRC Bas-Ton’s son says he is going to run the teahouse and its implied like that’s what he has to do. But if you die he’ll put aside tea and avenge you). They also presumably were in the military at one point because IIRC military service is mandatory for voss.
but yeah besides that I Got nothing
Tank’s mom is pretty well developed because she’s one of the toons I Play most on. Tank was raised by mom 1 (shree’a), a twi’lek who used to be a bounty hunter, and mom 2 (Deex), a DX assassination droid that got disconnected from the network and found by mom 1 on nar shaddaa. tank’s biological dad is either dead or just out of the picture; I really haven’t decided yet. Shree’a stopped being a bounty hunter after she got tired of it and Deex didn’t really care, she was just following Shree’a around, so the two of them started being security for various ships on heavily pirated hyperspace lanes. That’s where Tank grew up -- moving from planet to planet, hanging around mostly her moms and being homeschooled while seeing the galaxy.
nehari’s mom is kind of underdeveloped; currently her mom owned a store on nar shaddaa and died when nehari was 15. Nehari’s main memory of her mom is not very positive, it’s seeing her being pushed around by people with combat skills or paying up protection money. the main takeaway nehari got was that she never wanted to “let” herself be in such a position of weakness and if she wasn’t going to be able to live regularly she should just go ahead and join the dudes who were pushing everyone around. not really much to go off there. her dad was.... also either dead or out of the picture before nehari was born.
xareesh was raised by two moms again, one a swordsmith and one a swordswoman. she also had two brothers, 1 older and 1 younger, and one sister, but none of them have very developed personalities oops. So far the older brother was kind of overprotective of her but eventually chilled out. Most of her family is also probably dead, because her backstory involves the city she was living in being raided and a lot of people die. Xareesh then wanders the galaxy depressed-like looking for work where she can fight pretty much anywhere, which is pretty much the only way she’d wind up working with the empire
#me lovely little ocs#oc family details#THERE NOW I WONT HAVE TO KEEP GOING THROUGH THE TAGS LOOKING FOR WHEN I TALK AOBUT THEIR FAMILIES#saeyt doraz#xahaiyarishin#aereinys trin#messilandre melina#lycaea archeliou#taimen kor#nehari racin#harin so#shreea doraz#swtor

MLB dub stuff
Re-run of “Cat Blanc” and “Felix” today. Given how whatshisname did as Cat Blanc and in “Chameleon”, I’m very certain that he could’ve handled voicing Felix as well, but that judgment clearly wasn’t shared by the people in charge.
Since they’re already working with a not terribly long list of actors they’ve got on cast, recycling happens and I’m 70% certain that Felix was voiced by whoever does Luka. And that’s admittedly pretty funny, that rooftop scene with Ladybug considered.
But let’s talk “Cat Blanc”, which my dub-nerding self has watched in some three different languages before, but only once in Norwegian. But boy oh boy did I have thoughts about their translation choices, because there is one key scene that would be very difficult to get right thanks to the long-established choice of pet names: Cat Noir doesn't call her "my lady" around here.
He doesn't call her "my lady" because the expression is foreign to the point of nonsensical in a country that hasn't had any native nobility since 1350. Presumably, they also don't trust the target audience to understand neither the words nor the historical framework behind them. This is common for all the Scandi dubs; it's "min sköna" ("my beautiful") and "min kære" ("my dear") in Swedish and Danish, and I highly doubt that this choice to ix-nay the ladyword was coordinated.
Because in Norwegian, it's "unge dame", literally "young lady" and used in the exact same way as in English. It should be mega weird in the "cross father talking to sulky daughter" kind of way, but he makes it work. SOMEHOW. If nothing else, it sounds suitably oldfashioned.
So I was curious to hear them solve that one in THAT SCENE in “Cat Blanc”. I mean, all the money said they’d leave it as “young lady”, which thanks to the lacking ambivalence misses out on the massive change of meaning “my lady” has undertaken during the course of the episode. Second, that also means that Marinette’s echoing “my prince” which is BAD ENOUGH IN ENGLISH would sound even worse here because it’ll be lost that she is, in fact, echoing his last words to her and not just using the worst possible pet name.
Unrelated but also fascinating is that there are a bit of variation on the translation of “Bugaboo”. I’ve been rewatching some random episodes, and these are the ones I’ve noticed:
- "lille bille" ("little beetle", v. cute)
- "billeba" (once. might or might not be a real name, the only person I've known to carry it was a karen in some nineties soap opera. It might a beetle pun on "lilleba", a cutesy nickname common enough to have been used two generations ago on both sides of my family. Either way, the possibility is high indeed that it is a low-key shoutout to a nineties scandinavian soap opera that nobody remembers these days and I find that absolutely hilarious)
- "jenta mi" (once. lit. "my girl", does NOT have the same connotations as the corresponding English. Would not be used by anyone under fifty, and depending on who uses it, would come across as condescending enough to set MeToo trending. Fun usage note though, Hawkmoth goes "my boy" at Cat Noir right before akumatising him and IIRC also when he’s begging him to transform in “Gorizilla”, and that’s pretty heartwarming in a horrible kind of way)
One last inconsistency that might or might not be intentional: I remember two instances of Adrien calling his father the equivalent of “dad”. I think the first one might’ve been a way early episode, but the second one was “Sandboy”. At that point, they’d long since clued in on the fact that things are Awkward between father and son there, and consistently stuck with “father” (has not been used for adressing your male parent the last fifty years, yikes Gabriel).
Then we see Adrien Agreste living his worst nightmare, and desperately calling for help - he calls for Nathalie. And he calls for "dad", which given the situation - he’s helpless and terrified in a situation he cannot escape - would suggest that he’s reverting to some older speech pattern. That he used to once call Gabriel that, but at some point changed that to a formal and extremely dated way of talking to his father. It reflects the “vous” adress in the French, I guess, and hearing him break out of it - to suggest that his happy childhood wasn’t just his mother being around, it was his father being a father -
well, that was some heartbreak happening in this dub only.

tell me ur stahl biases,,, i need 2 know for reasons 👀🍷
ship biases // aaron here’s how stahl met ur second parent—
1. stahl / miriel - i invalidate myself with this because this is 100% first run bias but like. to an EXCESSIVE DEGREE. it’s watching their support chain that convinced me to try fire emblem as a franchise at all actually so i guess you can say i almost feel indebted to them LOL. but i just found their supports lighthearted and charming! i think miriel’s all-too serious fascination with him ( even if one might find the reason to be a little insulting, miriel means no harm ) played off of stahl’s people pleasing attitude is fun to watch and i genuinely think he would love to help her as an assistant and make her life easier. miriel is a smart gal who can do great things, and stahl would absolutely marvel at all her discoveries and advancements! i think his background with his family apothecary business could also be a good compliment in having him familiarize himself with her work, and beyond that, the two iirc are implied to interact with one another when they’re first introduced in-game so there’s basis to believe they are around one another more than just merely in their supports!
2. stahl / tharja - ok this is the one i choose as my fav when you ask me to actually use my head. stahl is always looking out for others, and seeing tharja get pleasantly surprised by how pure his concern is for others is really nice imo! they can have sun and moon symbolism pretty easily which is just the cherry on top of the sundae. i think it’s also fun to see him imply or just straight up say his growing attraction to her, feeling good in being honest especially as a strong contrast to how in his past he held his tongue on his feelings to the previous girl he liked because he thought it was for the better. interacting with tharja, though it wasn’t her intention to do this, teaches stahl to go for his wishes more often and to be free to say things, even if at first he wasn’t a fan of the situation of being forced to be completely honest all the time. stahl is just so wholesome, and i love to see him with tharja. they are literally the meme that’s like “someone will die” “of fun!”
bonus in that i think noire looks really cute with stahl’s hair color and she’s already wearing green like him anyhow. also once again, i think stahl’s family bg as an apothecary can help him spend more time with tharja and helping her with her work!
3. stahl / robin - yet another instance of this depends upon the portrayal but i’m going based solely off of the two canon robins and i think stahl works with either of them! stahl is always looking out for others, so it’s nice to see someone else take notice of stahl and try and pamper him instead. their supports are legitimately sweet and it’s really nice to see this guy who thinks of himself as terribly mediocre end up with someone that basically everyone in the army looks to. and, well, with that much burden on robin’s shoulders, they still will need someone to help look after them too anyway and that’s what stahl likes doing best!
also extra angst but (: in the doomed timeline where robin gets possessed by grima and stahl who was once known for always caring after others and fell for the one person who looked after him is now known as the spouse of the person who wreaked havoc and ruin over everyone he knew and loved and then some! haha!
4. stahl / maribelle - this isn’t one i came to love until long after i first played awakening, but i’m rather partial to it now! once again i’m pairing stahl with a hardworking woman ( which. i guess tbf is like. most of the women in awakening actually ) since i found it sweet how stahl really did worry over maribelle’s health, but also how maribelle was interested in stahl’s own ambitions and came to understand how his mind worked really drew me in! i love how she realized how much thought stahl put into things even if he’s indecisive and so genuinely believed he would carve himself a good future just like how she was trying to. also, stahl aspires to make everyone happy, and maribelle’s ideals align with his then: her goal to end oppression and corruption is something he would love to lend aid to if she lets him.
5. stahl / lissa - fanart convinced me of this one tbh but i do think there is something really nice here! their supports have them talking honestly to each other and being so comfortable with one another, and i can imagine they’ve known each other for quite some time since lissa’s first love was frederick and i hc that stahl studied underneath frederick as a new recruit so they’d run into each other naturally with that link. their supports just make me feel good idk, and it’s clear lissa cares about stahl with how she’ll get mad for him when she feels like stahl’s kindness is being taken advantage of.
also stahl is 100% the type of guy who would absolutely indulge in owain’s fantasies as a child haha
#// i really like his supports with panne tho idk if i necessarily ship them? but i frequently go back to them!#// anyway wow can't believe i've hit like basically almost every continent i write with this meme LOL#astraseason#+. / inbox.#+. / ooc.#long post ---
