Bits and Pieces: FTWD and Carzekiel for the Win!
Okay, so this will be short and sweet today. I'm just going to go over some bits and pieces. I wanted to do details post for FTWD 4×08. There were a few things I didn't mention in my last post, because they didn't have specifically to do with Beth. I thought they would do a lot of them, but as it turns out, there aren’t very many.
***The Carzekiel stuff mentioned in the title comes from the spoiler site. I’ll put it below a Read More in case anyone doesn’t want to read spoilers. As a TD-er, it will make you happy, tho. ;D***
Tumblr media
1) I noticed they gave us a shot of walker hands beating on Al's truck. This is a theme we’ve seen a lot in TWD, and now we’re seeing it in Fear. The thing is, this really does have a lot to do with Beth and TD, because we've seen this walker-hands theme around her. I've been several posts about it (HERE) and have come to believe that the walker-hands-beating-against-windows (or cars or buildings) represents characters who are under siege, and close to death because the walkers could “get” them, but in the end, they live.
We first saw this in S1, when Rick made it into the tank, which saved his life. The walkers beat on the outside of the tank and he was completely surrounded. Yet, he survived.
Tumblr media
We saw it again in 4x10, Inmates. For details, go back and read THIS POST. There were four different threads in Inmates, and they move backwards in nonlinear storytelling. We see the walkers beating on the tank at the beginning of Glenn's thread. The tank is a great direct call back to Rick in S1 and the fact that he survived, and then Glenn's thread has ridiculous parallels to Beth's arc. Which means the walker hands were to show that Glenn survived, and to be a parallel to Beth’s survival.
Other places we seen them included in S8, when Negan and Gabriel got stuck in the trailer at the Sanctuary. The walker hands beat on the windows and, once again, they survived. I know we also saw this several times in S6.
Tumblr media
I think it's interesting that we’re seeing this theme in Fear. It showed that the people in Al’s truck would survive, which they did. And Jon was in there. It’s especially significant that he would survive, given all the parallels between John/Naomi and Daryl/Beth.
That they're using so many symbols and themes from regular TWD might be show that will eventually merge the two shows.
2) Al’s Tapes
We talked about this a lot in our group. On TTD, they mentioned a tape that said Abraham and Doctor. It was supposed to mean that Al had come across Abraham and Eugene at some point. (I couldn't help but notice that Michael Cudlitz tweeted that he was surprised to hear that, so don't think we'll see a flashback with Abraham and Eugene anytime soon, but it’d be cool if we did.)
Tumblr media
So my fellow theorists also looked at the tapes we can see in the box. Here's what they found:
A.There’s one that says “St. Luke's hospital.”
Tumblr media
Not Grady, and I personally was hoping it said St. Ignatius, but still it's a hospital, named after a saint. @Brynn_81 (IG) looked it up, and there’s a St. Luke's brain and spine specialty center in Montana. So you know it is a Grady, this could be a reference about a brain injury.
B. Another tape says “dog shelter.” (Sirius Dog Star reference perhaps?)
Tumblr media
C. There's also one that says D.S., which we thought might be Daniel Salazar. (We don't know Daniel’s fate yet, and I'm hoping we'll see him in the second part of Fear, S4.)
D. What I really wanted to say about these tapes is that any one of them could possibly have Beth on them. Just as Al had met Madison, but nobody realized it because Madison didn’t give her name, I can see them doing something similar with Beth. It would just be conjecture or wishful thinking, except for one thing: John and Naomi were a major Bethyl retelling the season. And Naomi gave three different names out.
I've wondered more than once if perhaps they might reintroduce Beth in the show this way: TF could run into another group and have someone talk about a female leader and give her name. The leader is Beth but she’s using another name, so no one from TF would blink twice at it. Then, later, we find out this woman is actually Beth and, like Laura/Naomi/June, she’s using a fake name to protect herself.
I was really side eyeing all of Naomi's aliases in 4A. The fact that she such a heavy parallel for Beth could mean that Beth, wherever she is, is using a fake name as well. Which means she could be in Al’s tapes somewhere, and there’d be no way for us to know. Just wanted to throw the possibility out there.
Okay, that’s pretty much it for today. Like I said, short and sweet.
Below the read more is some news from the spoiler site that read me happy. I wanted to share it for anyone who hadn’t heard, but if you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read past this point:
Tumblr media
TD has said since S7 that Carol and Ezekiel will be an item and that they’ll be life-long partners. The spoiler is reporting that the relationship will most likely go canon in S9.
Though this doesn’t officially confirm anything about Beth, it does show that some romances we’ve been waiting a while for are finally happening. It’s just a matter of time before Daryl, too, finds his happy ending. And that makes me happy. Thoughts?
