Yandere! Cheerleader and Football Player
Tumblr media
Pairing: OC x GN! Reader x OC
Warnings: none
A/N: first post! There will be more in depth post describing both of these two so stay tune!
Tumblr media
‌You, however, you don't really know where you are on the food chain. You're not the lowest nor the highest, so you're kinda confused. It didn't really bother you since people seemed to not notice you that much. You don't really have anyone close to you in school, maybe a few acquaintances but no one close you can call as a friend.
Jake and Lana, king and queen of Silver Oak Highschool. Most popular, most loved (debatable) and the most well known students in your school. Everyone knows them, everyone wants to be with them or be them. Whatever it is, they're on the top of the food chain
‌You joined the schools news club because you really didn't know what else to do, plus the students there are friendly and chill. Because of this you sometimes meet Jake and Lana to do interviews for the schools newspaper. They're the "It Couple" but you have to admit they did always lead the schools football and cheerleading team to victory.
‌Lana was a typical mean girl, like Regina George oddly enough, but she is...nice to you? There's always a sharp smile on her face, hugging you tightly when you meet up for an interview like you're her best friend. She's always close when you're asking questions, her thigh touching yours or bumping her shoulder to yours. It was weird but you brushed it off quickly. She never bothered you enough so why get mad anyway?
‌Jake is a nice guy too, he's quiet and reserved but still smiles at you when you meet in passing. You don't really mind him honestly, but your other peers in the news club did say he's more stoic when members besides you do interviews with him.
‌After a few interviews, you noticed they're more trying to get closer to you. Offering to eat lunch together (you denied, not big on crowded tables), offering you a ride home (also denied because you have your own car), and the list goes on and on. Lana seems pouty before trying to persuade you again with more force. Jake accepts defeat after one try, but you did notice his smile was more tense as he drags Lana away.
‌Nonetheless, you're life was mundane to say the least. Not aware that the couple was infatuated with you for a long time and is trying to pursue you "normally" as they would say.
‌Lana was already attracted to you since middle school. Although you both never really talked so much, you did get grouped in for a project that made Lana loved you since the moment she saw you. You were so...boring, so mundane that in her life full of excitement she would say that you're more of a grounding territory for her.
‌Every time you interviewed her, she mindlessly listens as she observes your clothes, hair, and to the smallest details on your face. Both of you are so different yet she yearns to be with you, to hold you freely and be together.
‌She dated Jake because she did love him and she wants to share her love for you with Jake. So in the end, he got roped in too. Jake's obsession with you is more slow, he's more attentive and watching you day to day. He appreciates how you never really looked annoyed or put off by Lana (he knew she had a reputation) and just overall likes you in general.
‌Their tendencies differ from each other but they agree that they want to pursue you together. They want you to be with them. Both are filthy rich and they like to use it to their advantage (buying lunch, giving away small trinkets that you like).
‌Lana doesn't have as much patience as Jake does though. So the more you decline their attempts to woo you, the more annoyed and tense Lana becomes. She wants you to be with them before you all finished high school, but a small voice in her head is always reminding her to not scare you away. She doesn't want you to be scared of her or run away! And that's where Jake comes in.
‌He likes to hold Lana back if she tries anything that might ruin their chances. He likes to be with you as soon as possible but he knows they have to be more mindful of their surroundings. They have an image and reputation to uphold, and although he knows no one will believe if you tattle on them, he just wants to be blindly faithful of their image. The perfect pair, the king and queen of Silver Oak Highschool.
‌The more you try to deny them, the more aggressive their acts are. But so far, you had been a darling for them. Granted you're a bit awkward to their approach but you're not denying them outright. So they might have a chance in the future!

One Of Us - Leah Williamson x Reader
Tumblr media
(Not my image)
Based on the song ‘One of Us’ by ABBA
———
Arsenal wasn't Arsenal without you.
Since 2006, when she arrived at Arsenal, still only a girl, she'd had you.
Even in 2014, when Leah had been promoted to the senior squad, you'd been right behind her. It was only right you made your debuts together, as best friends.
There had always been something more than friendship there. Being young, you'd both been to blind to see it, until Jordan Nobbs had made a pass at Leah at one of the famous Arsenal Halloween parties and you'd lost your head.
"I don't get what your mad about!" She'd chased after you once she'd seen you storm out. You'd argued on the way back to your shared apartment, about 10 minutes away from the house you'd been at.
"You really don't get it?! That I've been in love with you since before I even knew what love was. That it's always been you, that it always will be you. And I fucking missed my chance to tell you because I didn't want to ruin a 10 year friendship!" You shouted.
She didn't respond, only placed her lips onto yours and promised you that she felt the same way.
Life was good. Playing together, going home together, being together. It was all you'd even known, until one day it wasn't.
Whilst Leah broke through into regular minutes in the first team, you struggled immensely. You and Leah both played in the midfield, and with the senior players he already had in that position, he really didn't need two of the exact same player coming in. Leah's connection with the team landed her in favor, she'd always been the one to make friends on behalf of the both of you, and in this case your quietness had been the reason for your downfall.
As a result, Pedro frequently criticized your playing style, and began not even listing you as a substitute.
You felt your world falling apart, Arsenal was all you had even known, Leah was all you'd ever known, but you knew you were better than a reserve player.
He called you into his office after a particular good training session, but had quickly ruined your mood.
"I only need one player, between you and Leah, you need to fight and prove to me why it should be you. The January window is fast approaching, don't let it be you I sell."
You arrived home in despair. Leah was quick to comfort you, asking what was wrong, but you were in no state to tell her about the conversation you'd just had.
She held you that evening, lips brushing over your cheeks as she whispered sweet nothings over and over again.
And so I dealt you the blow
One of us had to go
Leah's expression was unreadable at breakfast. The revelation of your conversation with Pedro had hit her. She enjoyed her life, playing for her childhood club, whilst also being with the love of her life every day. She didn't want things to change.
That week she'd been quiet at home, and distant at practice. Everyone else had noticed the shift in dynamic between the two of you too, eyes watching both of you.
By Friday you'd had enough, entering Pedro's office after training to tell him that you'd be looking for a new club in January, and that you'd made his decision easier.
To say Leah was upset was an understatement.
"Why wouldn't you talk to me before making a decision like that! This isn't just about you, this is about our future too!" She yelled.
"I did this for you! So you didn't have to leave the club you care about most! I don't want you to resent me for being the reason you leave."
"No instead I resent you for leaving me!" She screamed.
Now it's different, I want you to know
She could never resent you, not really. Even though she might have hated you in the moment, the minute your stuff was out the door and you were gone, she regretted every word she said.
You hated the way you left, the veil of darkness that cloaked every corner of your house in awkward tension. Leah barely spoke a word, watching as you gradually packed up your things. She knew she couldn't be in the house when you left for good.
Leaving your key on the table you walked away. And when Leah came home to find it, she knew it was the end of everything.
One of us is crying, one of us is lying
In a lonely bed
Staring at the ceiling
Wishing she was somewhere else instead
6 months was not enough time for Leah to get over you. She put on a front for her teammates, acting like it didn't hurt to partner up with Jordan for passing drills, or seeing the new signing with your number on her back.
Your cubby hadn't stayed empty for long either, a reshuffle in the locker room had meant the new signing sat where you used to. Leah couldn't even look over there, the fact that your eyes wouldn't be looking back at her in reassurance.
For a while Leah couldn't go home. It felt empty without the little bits of you. Leah hated the way you'd leave your keys on the counter instead of on the hook by the door, but now she wished she was able to complain as she put them on the hook herself.
After a while, your pillow stopped smelling like you too. Before she'd cry into it, the smell soothing her into a false sense of security, one in which she could pretend she was in your arms.
Instead, she was alone. The bed seemed bigger without you. She was just a body. Staring at the ceiling as she wiped her tears, wishing she was wherever you were, next to you.
One of us is lonely, one of us is only
Waiting for a call
Sorry for herself, feeling stupid, feeling small
Wishing she had never left at all
The move was tough. You'd moved out of the country, to a club where you couldn't speak the native tongue. It was hard fitting in, making friends. You'd never been good at it, not really. All your friends had been Leah's, she was always the one who introduced you to new people, knowing just how shy you were around everyone other than her.
Maybe Leah was right, maybe you should've stayed, figured something out together. Your solution had left you feeling more alone than ever, going home to your own pity party after practice.
You were stupid to think Leah would call, but still you sat by the phone hoping that every notification that pinged would be one from her.
They way you left should've been the first sign, you knew it was over, you knew she was done. But still you hopelessly pined over her, hoping she missed you just as much as you missed her.
You shouldn't have left. You shouldn't have left her

Character Vision Board
Tumblr media
You were never one to gain any attention from anyone. Frankly, you liked it that way.
Known as the most reserved yet nerdiest student in school, you were never called by your name. How could anyone put a name to your face when no one knew what it was. People had only given you the title of top student in university.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most people knew of your existence, but by always wearing your oversized hoodie over your head, glasses, and mask, you kept your identity a secret amongst your peers. You survived high school like this, so being in your final year of university and still being able to maintain it was a breeze.
It was a regular Monday morning, and you sat in the library before classes, trying to freshen up on your Physics lesson yesterday. You woke up at 6 a.m. to get ready, showered, and ate breakfast with an energy drink before heading out to the library. That was your daily routine, the loner lifestyle, if you will.
As you typed away on your computer, the buzz of other students started coming in waves at 9 a.m., hitting the clock. That meant it was time to head to your first class. After multiple hours of classes, hand-cramping notes, and sitting in the back of every subject, you headed to your favorite class, computer science. For some reason, your brain was highly advanced in this area, making it enjoyable.
30 minutes go by, and just sitting in the back of the class, a tall, nonchalant figure walks in. You visibly see your teacher's face contort as she rolls her eyes at the student. The notorious Bada Lee came in late once again. You believed she began to do it on purpose at this point, as she stopped giving excuses for her tardiness by the second week.
The thought certainly loitered in the back of your mind. You never understood why Bada was the way she was. This was one of the few classes with several options, so if you wanted to avoid taking it, you had multiple other choices. Yet, even being late every day, she showed up and did the work.
Maybe not to the best of her abilities, but she still did it.
There were a few things to note about Bada. She was captain of the school's basketball team and had a distasting reputation. The campus player and heartbreaker. It felt as though, every week, there was new drama surrounding a girl whose heart got broken by the tall student, and it always made you want to roll your eyes every single time. Never understanding why these girls chased and chased, even when knowing their situationships wouldn't be the way it was from their fantasies.
Nearing the end of the class, everyone was getting ready to leave, but the Professor stopped anyone from going further. "Before you leave, I want to discuss the upcoming midterm project."
She pulls up the presentation on the board and explains, "This project requires you to make an updated website for the school. The requirements will be posted online by the end of the day, and I will assign you a partner for this. The highest grade will have their website be used as the new official website for our school. This will be due a month from now."
Everyone becomes surprised and happy at the prize for their upcoming trials. Your professor begins to list the names, and she gets to you, "Baek Y/n... and Bada Lee." Your heart sank instantly at those words.
You grumble with your head down. Out of all the people in the class, you got stuck with the one who'd rather mess with a girl at any chance she had.
Bada sits in her seat, brows furrowed. Who the fuck was Baek Y/n?
Bada knew almost everyone, but she'd never heard of that name. That's when the Professor lets everyone go, and she sees a girl walk up to the teacher. You wore the gigantic hoodie, and Bada couldn't see your face, but with all the gestures you gave your teacher, you seemed like you weren't pleased about something. When she hears you huff in annoyance, and your eyes meet hers while leaving, she sees anger bubbling behind them.
Bada gets up, confused, and heads over to the teacher. "Professor Min, who was that?"
"That was your partner Baek Y/n. You've heard of the top student before, right?" Her eyes double at the older man's words, and her face becomes extremely happy. She would undoubtedly be using this to her advantage.
"Now, don't think of trying to get the girl to do all the work, Bada. I'm allowing you to bring up your grade with this project." She nods furiously before heading out to tell her friends the news.
She sees them over at their school's common room, and her friends, Aiki, Noze, Lee Jung, and Emma, give her weird looks like Bada grew three heads. "Now, why is she cheesing now?" Aiki asks, and the taller girl replies with a smack to her arm.
"You guys won't believe who my partner is for my computer science project."
The four girls looked at each other and began naming several popular girls. Bada rolls her eyes at her friend's antics. "Well, you wanna tell us? We named like half the girls already." Noze says.
"Baek Y/n."
...
"Baek, who now?" Lee Jung looks at her in amusement, but your title shocks them, "Top Student." Their eyes grow wide. The group looked around the room to see if they could find you. "Her name is Baek Y/n?" Emma confirms, "She's in my class, so I'm pretty sure that's her name."
"Well, if you don't ace that project, she must hate you." Lee Jung jokes, making Bada think, "Truth be told, she didn't seem too happy about being my partner either."
"We wouldn't be happy either." "Can't blame her."
They kid around, but Aiki tells the girl, "You better stay on her good side. I'm sure if you don't do the work, she'll find a way to ensure you don't have a shared grade." "True, she's always been partnered with smarter kids, so she's never had an issue, but knowing you? You’re gonna need to play nice girl this time, Bada."
Bada scoffs at Emma's words, "She'll do the work by herself whether she likes it or not. Besides, I'm on everyone's good side." She shows a cocky grin, but Emma and Lee Jung specifically can't help but doubt her. "I don't know about this one. Doesn't seem like an easy girl to get through."
"Nah, have some faith in our girl," Noze says, patting Bada's hip. "Wanna bet on it?" Bada says, with pure confidence backing her up. "I get her to fall for me, and you owe me a month of doing all my assignments." Lee Jung smirks at the girl, "Deal."
"So when are you gonna start?" Noze asks as she eats her chips. "Not sure. Definitely not tonight, though. I'm seeing Redy after practice." All her friends roll their eyes at the girl's name, finding her ignorance ever so bothersome.
The next morning, you find yourself in the same spot as usual and have begun the project already. Bada finds herself looking for you on campus and figures, where do all nerds hang out?
The library.
She makes her way over, and as she enters, she automatically finds you in the corner of the large hall. "Hey there, partner," She greets, and you look at her dead in the eyes, "What are you doing here?" Your tone ached in annoyance.
"Come on, don't be like that. I want actually to try on this project."
"Fine. Let me ask you this first. Why are you even in computer science?" You were straightforward, your serious demeanor never fading. Bada is surprised by your daring question but never trembles, "I just thought it would be interesting." An irked scoff is heard from behind your mask, "Yeah, right," was said with an eye roll. Well, this is gonna be harder than she thought.
"I'm being serious. I wanna earn the grade as well." She whines slightly, and your eyes cry disgust. "Give me your number, and we can work on the project at my house after basketball practice." You grumble and slouch in your chair, and Bada, unconsciously,  finds the position adorable as your oversized hoodie collapses on your body, "Sure," is all you mumble, not wanting any more trouble than there already was.
Bada grins as you write your information down on a purple post-it note and shows her excitement when you hand it over to her. You sat there as she left the library, wondering what she had planned for you. It wasn't like Bada to talk to nobodies to "do work." Yet the sooner you had this project done, the better you took her words with a grain of salt, hoping she was being at least a little truthful with her words.
You weren’t one to trust many people’s words, particularly from individuals like Bada, but you knew it had to be done for the sake of your grade. A hefty sigh leaves your body, and you try to go about your day without going too deep into it. During your last period, you feel your phone buzz and read an unexpected message.
Bada Meet me after practice at 5 PM at the gym. I’ll give you a ride so we can work on the project.
The recurring disdain takes over your face again as you read. You hate that you even had contact with the girl, so you just leave her on read as you remind yourself about the meeting. You would just have to wait for her, deciding to go to the school's garden as you let time pass. On the other end of campus, Bada stares at her phone in dismay, “Did she just leave me on read?” She mumbles to herself, and her fellow co-captain hears the uncommon words from the latter’s mouth. “Someone leaving the queen Bada on read? You don’t hear that every day,” Haechi tells the girl, and Bada sneers at the comment. “She’s just playing hard to get for now. Trust, she’ll fall for me by the end of the week.”
“Who is it anyways?” Haechi questions. “Baek Y/n,” she simply states, and the other’s eyes widen. “Like top student Baek Y/n?” Bada looks at her in confusion, “You know her?”
The latter shrugs, “We went to the same high school. She’s a sweet girl,” she adds, and Bada’s curiosity grows. “Sweet? Do you even know what she looks like?” “Nope, but if you care about your grades, she’ll notice and help you, even if you're struggling.”
Haechi was one of the few popular students in university who focused on her grades, so her statement wasn’t so out of the blue. “Know anything else about her?” Haechi briefly considers the inquiry, “She really likes energy drinks, from what I remember. She always drank the blue Monster cans.” But there was a slight hesitation in the co-captin’s voice.
“I know how you are, Bada, so I’m aware I can’t stop you from your plans, but try not to do too much damage to the girl. She’s too precious to be broken by someone like you,” Haechi tells her, and despite the brutal words, Bada doesn’t take it to heart, almost shoving it out of her mind.
“Don’t worry. I won’t.”
The practice continues for hours before Bada notices your small figure sitting on the bleachers, waiting for the little time left. She jogs her way over to you with a bashful smile, “Hey, let me just change, and we can head out.” You just nod, wanting to get out fast, but Haechi’s familiar face has your eyes smiling. “Y/n-nie! Long time no see,” she opens her arms, and you gladly hop down to hug her. Bada watched the interaction, not knowing how to react to this side of you. You looked overjoyed to see the girl, and she may not be able to see your face, but the new energy made her feel a sense of loss.
She didn’t understand why you favored Haechi but not her. They were both tall, popular basketball team captains and had similar recognition in school. The only thing Haechi had over Bada was her straight A’s in classes. Was that the thing that would get you to like her? Bada grumbled at the concept. She wasn’t failing or anything, or else she couldn’t play on the team, but ALL her grades were not close to par with Haechi’s, not even a little bit. When her attention returns to the two of you, she sees you handing a new water bottle to Heachi, who thanks you. “You two seem close,” she tells them, and her co-captain looks at you almost with cherishing eyes. “Y/n’s the best man. Helped me a lot throughout high school,” you wave your hands in denial. “Heachi, you did your best in high school with or without my help. You’re hard-working,” your voice appears in a softer tone. Bada wanted to roll her eyes hard, but she left you two to change.
Bada wasn’t jealous, but maybe being narked was the better way to express her feelings. The girl was the type of person to feel better and superior to everyone else, so the fact that Haechi was already on your good side had her deep in her cycling thoughts. She needed to work hard to get this version of you, and not just with the project.
When she finishes, she tells you to go with her, and you hug Haechi before leaving the court and going to the parking lot with Bada. As she drove, she tried to make some conversation. “You started the project, right?” “Yeah.”
“You might have to teach me a few things so I can actually help.” “Sure.”
“You like computer science?” “Yup.”
That. That was the substance you gave Bada after every question. It made her want to jump out of the moving car, her ego bruised by your one-word replies. She stops trying after 10 minutes, letting the silence overwhelm you two, and you couldn’t have been any happier with the lack of sound. The car pulls up to this large mansion, and you try to hide your awe. This house was huge. Probably being able to hold the capacity of 200 students. “Come on in,” she invites with the large open door.
When you entered, your eyes marveled at the marble architecture, the classical aesthetic being the prominent feature of the house. Bada then leads you to the living room, where you sit timidly on her couch. “Do you want anything to drink?” She asks you as your eyes still wander the house. “Um, I’m ok.”
“Well, let me just change before we start,” you nod, taking out your laptop and notebook, trying to get a bit comfortable for your peace of mind. You pull up the empty website domain with only your school's colors and a sleek banner that takes up a decent amount of the screen. After 10 minutes, Bada returns with gray basketball shorts and a tight wife beater as her top. Your eyes go up and down her figure before focusing on the monitor.
You were honest, and as much as you didn’t understand Bada’s playgirl mentality, you did understand her appeal to the female population in school. Her tall figure, the varieties of colors she’d use on her long hair that cascaded all the way down to her waist, and the hats she wore to hold a sense of mystery were the perfect formula for the way to a girl’s heart.
“So what should I do?” Bada says, sitting beside you, which had you scoot in the opposite direction. “We can split the parts. Professor Min already put up the criteria for the website. I can do the harder stuff like navigation, school history, subjects, majors, and minors.” You tell her as you view the recent handout your professor had put up. “That’s too much, no? All I’d have left is the decorating, department information, and help desk information. Why don’t I help you with the major and minors?” You look at her with bewildered eyes, “You sure? A lot of coding and linking goes into that?” The taller one nods confidently, “You just have to teach me, and I’m sure I’ll be able to do it.” You nod with some hesitation.
“How about we start brainstorming the website's theme, and we can start with the project next week?”
“Sure, but why next week? My practices always end at 5-6 PM, so we should have time.” You shake your head, “it’s not because of you. I'm just gonna be busy with the school council this week.” And Bada looks at you in surprise, “Your part of the school council?”
“Yeah, but I’m just the secretary. Since the sports events are around the corner, I have to oversee everybody and their work,” you explain. Bada feels the admiration brewing inside her. She was aware of your hardworking nature, well, everyone was. You were the top student for a reason, but this put you on a different playing field. On top of your multiple studies, you did your due diligence as a prominent figure on their school council.
“Well, why aren’t you the president?” You scoffed, following a pity laugh, “Bada, I can’t lead anyone to save my life.” She stares at you, not understanding your point, and you take notice. “I might be smart, but that doesn’t mean I have leadership skills.”
“Maybe I can help you,” the tall girl shrugs. She thought she was a good captain for her team, so with that credit, she could give you pointers. “It’s fine. I like my position. I get to help everyone.” The two of you let the time pass as you continued to work on the project before ending the night.
The next few days, you had a lot on your plate. You were running around the school, ensuring all the projects and events were being set up properly, writing reports, and then reporting to the president and vice president about overseeing.
During this time, Bada rarely saw you in class, and she thought about how busy you’d be. You weren’t lying, huh.
But on a Thursday afternoon, you watched the gym setup and saw Bada’s little group chilling on the bleachers. Another student, Doyoung, walks in with papers stacked in his hands. It was all the papers you needed to sign and read through, but a basketball flew in his direction before he could reach you. His head throbs as he drops the papers, and you see Bada’s groupies laughing as Bada yells, “Sorry, Do-ah, the ball slipped out my hands,” she says as she collects the ball and returns to the bleachers. You ran over to the boy, helping him get the papers and helping him up. “Doyoung? Are you okay?” You help the boy up, and he stares at you, dizziness coating his face. You glare at Bada, who catches a glimpse of your raging eyes, and she realizes her fuck up in an instant.
“Come on, let me take you to the nurse,” you say as you grab his arm, wrapping it around your shoulders. “Shit,” Bada says as she watches the two of you leave, you having the stacks of heavy paper sticking out of your bag. “Looks like your timing is off this time,” Noze teases, and Bada thinks she has to make it up to you. She ran out of the gym, trying to catch up to you. She found you settling Doyoung on the nurse's bench as you explained what happened, and to avoid punishment, she waited for you to leave the office before she could talk to you.
Walking out, you make eye contact with the basketball player and scoff at the sight. You tried to walk past her, but she stopped you, pulling your arm, “Y/n, wait.” You rip your arm away, feeling grossed out by her touch. “Did you feel cool?” You bluntly ask, and Bada is taken aback at your tone. “No, that’s not it-”
“Then what is it, Bada? It doesn’t take much to be nice, but it sure does take a lot of energy to be as rude as you.” The disappointment felt like knives to Bada’s heart. It felt like the same judgment she got from her parents, and now you were saying it to her? It made her want to suffocate six feet under. “I just wanted to be funny. I didn’t mean to hurt him. I’m sorry,” she mumbles as her head hangs low. “That apology shouldn’t be for me, asshole. Apologize to Doyoung,” you tell her, leaving her where she stands as you are still much to do. “Doyoung-ah, just text me later when you get home,” the younger boy nods, and you return to your busy day.
Tumblr media
“Dude, I apologized to Doyoung yesterday, and she still hasn’t texted me anything about the project,” Bada tells her friends as she paced back and forth. “I don’t see what the big deal is,” Aiki says, and Bada looks at her in distress. “It’s a big deal 'cause I need that A to play in that prelims.”
“Maybe give her something to make it up to her?” Lee Jung suggests that Bada’s eyes grow at her words, remembering Haechi’s words. “The blue Monster,” she gasps, and her friends look at her weirdly as she runs off campus. Bada went to the convenience store, buying a can of Monster energy drink, some cookies, and an egg sandwich. It was early morning, so she knew she’d find you in the library at your usual spot.
Instead of being on your laptop this time, your eyes never left the papers you read and signed. Not even noticing her presence, Bada drops the bag lightly on the desk and pushes it in your direction. You look up, see the girl’s sorry face, and check the inside of the bag. “What’s this?”
“My apology to you for being a dick. I also apologized to Doyoung yesterday, so I’m in the clear.” You roll your eyes and sigh heavily, “Why are you like this, Bada?” Now she was confused, “What do you mean?”
“You're capable of being nice to people like me, so why can’t you do it to others?” Because other people won't help my grade, Bada thought. “I’m not sure,” Bada acts, trying to look ashamed. “But I know I’ll try my best to change,” she says, that confident smile taking place on her face again.
So, during the next few weeks, you worked with Bada. She did her best to show you the better version of herself. Yes, she was acting initially, but as time passed, she got comfortable with the routines. She attended classes earlier, paid attention, participated, and even studied. The week after the altercation, Bada had asked you to tutor her in certain subjects, and you gladly accepted, liking the direction of her change.
So, the two of you sat in her home on a Friday afternoon after school, and you were working on your chemistry assignments. You had become comfortable in the setting after working at her home a few times. “Y/n-ah, help me with this long-ass formula. It's confusing.” You giggle at the pout on her lips and check the screen. “The prefix is hepta- and check out the periodic table for the names.” You point to the table of chemical symbols, and Bada begins to understand the list of prefixes on the coffee table.
You continued your work and studied the current topic you guys were on. Bada looked at you, wondering, “I hope this doesn't make you uncomfortable, but why do you always wear a mask?” You pause, not expecting the surprise question. “It just makes school go by faster. Drama-free too,” you express, and Bada rolls her eyes. “But it’s just you and I here.”
“Doesn’t change the fact that it makes my life easy,” you state. “Look, tomorrow, when you come over for the project, come without the mask, please?” You look at her in confusion, wondering why she was pressing on so much. But seeing her giving you puppy eyes, you reluctantly agreed, “Fine.”
“Great! Now help me with this question, please?” You laugh at her struggle.
The next day, you woke up to prepare for the long day. You took a shower, did your everyday skincare, and ensured you looked presentable. You were much more alert about your looks when you didn't wear the mask. You wanted to feel confident and ensured you did when applying the lip oil and putting your hair in a high ponytail.
You took an Uber to Bada’s place and rang the doorbell. When Bada opens the door, she takes in your appearance. You were out of your uniform for once, and the hairstyle displayed your small face clearly. Bada looks at you fondly, not expecting such a pretty girl to hide behind the mask daily. Even with the glasses on, your eyes looked large, and your heart-shaped lips colored bright pink. The tall girl couldn’t pull her eyes away from your lips. They looked too juicy not to kiss.

“Are you gonna let me in, or should I just stay out here?” Bada shakes her thoughts away and moves to the side. “So you were hiding this the entire time?” She asks as she pats your head, and you swat her hand away. “You practically begged for this.”
“And I’m not complaining,” She continues, staring at you, “go to school like this man.” “Okay, it was one thing asking me to come to your house like this, but school? Never happening.” You tell her, settling your bag down on the couch. “Wait, we should work in my room today. My parents are gonna be home today.”
She leads you into her room, the cool gray walls blinding your eyes. You observe your surroundings, surprised to see the clean room. She puts your bag on the office chair and lets you sit on her bed. You began to talk about what you’ve done on the project, but as you talked, Bada wasn’t even concerned about your words, focusing on your body more. Your outfit made Bada want to have you moaning underneath her, chest rising up and down as you begged for more.
“Bada?” You check on her worryingly. “Yes?” She whispers, still not staring at your face. “Have you done the majors and minors?” “I finished the majors, but I’m still working on the minors,” she tells you, clearly still entranced. “Can you show me?”
“Oh, um, yeah,” She shakes her head and takes her laptop out, showing the work she had completed, and you were visibly pleased with the progress. “This is actually really good. Nice job,” your validation had her heart swelling as your grin held a tint of pride. “Maybe you can finish up the minors today? Just so your work goes by faster.” She nods and checks out all the work you’ve done as well. “You finished all of these? That fast?” She stares at the screen, astonished by the amount of stuff you did the past two weeks. “Anything that needs to be done on a computer, I can do in a quick flash,” you joke, but it holds some sincerity. “I’m trying to be like you, girl,” She comments, and you laugh.
“Let’s do this so we don’t have much left to do next week.” With those words, the two of you worked the entire day. By the next time you checked the time, you realized the hours passed quickly. “Damn, it’s already 4 PM?” This also makes Bada check her phone, “Oh, your right. You want something to eat?” “I wouldn’t mind that actually.”
The two of you enter her kitchen, and Bada heated up some leftover Chinese food she had left in the fridge. Once you guys were eating, Bada tried to get to know you more, finding your presence comforting. “So, Y/n, why do you work so hard in school?” Your mind malfunctions at the question, unsure if you should be honest with the girl. “Um~,” you start, slowly picking at your food. “It’s mainly for my mom. My dad left us for his other family when I was five, and she raised me all by herself. This is the only way to give her a good life after everything she has gone through.” Your voice said with a hint of sadness, and Bada watched your pretty face fall. You wiped away the slight tears that formed. “You’re a good person, Y/n. Never forget that,” She tells you, and you find your heart racing at the words. Bada never had this effect on you, but her words of encouragement made your day.
She was about to continue the conversation, but another tall, more mature woman walked in the room, eyes looking cautiously at the sight of you. “Bada,” she called your partner's name, and you look surprised at Bada’s figure. She straightened herself up, fixing her appearance slightly. “Mother.”
“Who is this?” The older woman’s hand points over in your direction, and before Bada can answer, you decide to try and please the stern woman. “My name is Baek Y/n mam. I’m Bada’s partner for our computer science project. It’s nice to meet you.” You bow at the woman, and her eyebrows raise at your politeness. “Good manners, proper style, pretty face, excellent speaker,” her mom states, as her gaze moves around your body. “You should be more like this, Bada.”
“Mom, not in front of her, please,” Bada’s voice goes small, and you regret speaking up. “What? It’s true. Instead of basketball, you should be a model student. I should thank your teacher for partnering you up with this young woman.”
“I don’t know how we failed to raise you. This is how you should’ve turned out,” The older woman goes to your side, using her two hands to present you as if you were a presentation. Bada’s feelings were in a whirlwind. She wasn’t sure if she could be mad at you, her mom, or just the world. Her mom wasn’t even wrong. You were perfect in every way, and she was the disappointment. Two different worlds were crossing paths, and she was beginning to wish she was partnered with another individual instead of you.
Your eyes grow at her mother’s harsh words, and you shake your head, moving away from the woman. She wasn’t even aware of Bada’s new changes and efforts the last few days, but she belittled her daughter.  “Madam, with all due respect-”
“Y/n. Don’t,” The tall girl tells you, with a stern voice, her breathing going shaky. “You right, mother. I’ll do better,” Bada says, head hanging low as she walks past the two of you. “What a dramatic girl,” You hear her mom telling herself, and you do your best not to ridicule the woman. “I’ll go check up on her,” you bow and run up to Bada’s room, finding the door shut. When entering, her back was turned to you as she sat on the edge of her bed. You were about to reach out on her shoulder but halted when you heard the sniffles as they gradually grew heart-wrenching. You rush to Bada’s side without any reluctance, pulling her into a hug. The warmth engulfing Bada had her break down instantly, never having anyone hold her as you did. Your eyes teared up at the sounds of her hyperventilating, her grip on your shoulder becoming tighter.
You then thought this was such a common occurrence for Bada. She put up this facade in school, wanting the attention of other women, and finally understood where it all stemmed from. Bada just wanted to feel loved and longed for, but with a household like this, it felt so hard to even ask for. She shouldn’t even have to ask. It was her mother, after all.
“Bada, you’re doing your best. Don’t let your mom’s words take that away from you.” You whisper as you rub her back, “If you ever want to talk, you can always talk to me.”
Bada begins to calm down at your words, the shakiness in her voice fading away. “Thank you, Y/n-ah.” She whispers, leaving her head on your shoulders. She wavers and asks, “Can you come to my game on Friday?”
“Of course. I’ll be your personal cheerleader,” you quip, in a shot to make her feel better, which works when a cheesing smile forms on her face. “You’d only cheer for me?” “Maybe for Haechi as well,” you tease, and she hits your arm with a pout. “Okay, ouch. I’ll cheer for you only, damn. No need to get violent on me.” Bada laughs at your words.
You try to stray from the topic, but you can’t help but ask, “Does she talk to you that way all the time?” Bada sighs, “Yeah, basically every time she’s home.” The lightbulb in your head flickers when she says, “My house may not be as extravagant as yours, but how about we work on the project on my house on Tuesday? I’ll send you my address, and you can come over after practice,” Bada’s eyes shined at the proposal. “I’d be honored.”
So the following Tuesday, you come home and relax on your bed before deciding to take a shower, feeling the stickiness of your sweat getting to you. You changed into a large baby pink shirt and some pajama shorts. Deciding to get a head start, you started your other assignments before Bada could get there. You worked on your easy English paper as you waited for the time to pass and heard the doorbell. Your eyes checked the time, and seeing 6 PM, you already knew who it was. You open the door to find Bada changed into gray sweatpants, an oversized hoodie, and one of her iconic hats covering her head. “Well, Miss Bada, welcome to my humble abode,” you say, welcoming her in. Bada’s eyes roam around, taking in the simplicity of the house, finding it shocking as she took a liking to it. “It feels… homey,” She mumbles, and you pat her shoulder. “I have more space in my room. Let’s work there.”
Bada’s eyes wander to your exposed thighs when going up the stairs. They looked so thick and plump. Bada, never realizing the build of your body, wanted to grip your thighs until they were turning red. Once you let her into your sacred space, Bada sees the tiny potted plants you kept, shelves full of books, your desk looking organized, and your twin-sized bed and pillows wrapped in a light purple set.
“So I have the navigation and research of the school's history. I might leave that research for next week to work on other subjects today.” Bada nods, settling on your bed and opening her laptop, “What other assignments do you have to do?”
“I’m trying to finish my English paper and then study for next week’s Chemistry exam.” “CHEM EXAM?” Bada yells, startling you into a jump. “Yes, Bada, chemistry exam.” Bada rubs the back of her neck, “Can you help me study?” You smile at her, “Of course.” The two of you finished the topics you agreed to do today, and Bada explained that she only had the decorating left. “Y/n?” You hear a voice coming from downstairs, and you smile, “Yes, mom?”
“Did you and your friend eat yet?” Bada is bewildered at the foreign voice. Your mom knew she was here? “We haven’t yet!” You voice out as you put your hair up in a messy bun. “Come down and eat. I made some mandu and kimchi jiigae,” Bada’s eyes brightened at the names of the food. You giggle at her face and pull her into the kitchen with you. Bada makes eye contact with your mom, and the woman gasps. “Y/n, you didn’t tell me how beautiful your friend was.”
“Mom, stop~,” you whine as you give her a welcoming hug. Bada smiles at your relationship with your mom. It is the exact opposite of what she was used to. “Let me help you with setting up the table?” Your mom handed you the plates and utensils, “get comfortable, Bada. You’re about to eat some of the best food ever,” You tell the tall girl, trying to tease your mom, who laughs at your comment. “Come on, sweaty, sit down,” Your mom tells the basketball player as she puts both dishes at the center of your table.
“How was school you two?” Bada almost chokes on her first bite of food as your mom asks, not used to the motherly love. “Oh dear, here, have some water, darling,” Your mom pours a glass as you pat Bada’s back. “I’m sorry. Um, school was alright, thank you for asking,” Bada says, mumbling, and you smile pityingly at your mom. “Same mom, nothing new.”
“That’s good!” She finishes, letting you all eat in peace. “Have you rested this past week, Y/n?” You grin at your mom’s question, “You know I try and stop doing work an hour before I go to bed, Mom.” “That doesn’t count.”
You sigh, “Don’t worry. I plan to go to Bada’s game on Friday, so I’ll take a break then.” Your mom gets excited, “Really? Good luck with your game. I hope you guys win!” Your mom was joyful, even with what had happened in the past, which made her your hero. “I hope we win too, Ms. Baek,” Bada gives an appreciating smile. “Oh, please call me mom. Any friend of Y/n can call me Mom. She rarely has any friends, so,” Your mom whispers her ending statement, and you roll your eyes at her. “Can we not expose Y/n? Thanks,” You say, pointing to yourself. The two smile at your gesture, and Bada teases you, “She’s not wrong.”
“Look at what you started, Mom!”
After you ate and studied with Bada, it was already 9 PM as you walked her out of your house. “You’re mom is the sweetest person on Earth,” Bada says, a sense of peace taking over her as she held the bag of food your mom had packed for her. “I know,” you giggle, knowing how your mom was. She accepted everyone and anyone as long as they treated you and her kindly.
“Thank you, Y/n. You’ve been helping me so much recently, and I don’t know how to pay you back,” she says, bringing you into the tightest hug. Your chest pounded, feeling a new overwhelming feeling of emotions. You knew that you and Bada had become closer in the past few weeks, but now you blushed at her touch, making you nervous.
There was no way you were starting to like her, right? You believed Bada was changing for the better. She had stopped flirting with so many girls, focused more on school, and acted as a more proper captain for her team. That’s what you thought, at least.
Tumblr media
It was Thursday morning, before Bada’s game, and she was chilling on her hour break with the rest of her friends. “How has the project been going?” Emma asks with genuine interest. “It’s actually really good,” She simply states, and her friends stare at each other, unsure of how to go about her answer. “You remember our deal, right?” Lee Jung asks the taller, reminding her of her words two weeks ago. “Of course, I do,” Bada’s words felt like a harsh smack to the face. Her statement simmered in her mind like she was lying to herself.
Bada knew she was changing, and whether she would like to admit it or not, the thought scared her. It was because of you and only you. She was never meant to go this deep or even this far with your friendship. She couldn’t help herself, though. She shared tears with you, personal issues her friends didn’t even know about, and even bonding with your own mother. Feeling like a brand new person, Bada felt liberated and accomplished. Lately, she thought she could stick up to her parents, defending herself from their judgmental words. Last night, during their family dinner, Bada’s mother and father had some words for her again. “Bada, your grades better be good this semester, or you’ll be sent to military school.” Her father tells her in an eerie, monotone voice. Bada looks at them, sensing betrayal. “Do you guys even love me?” “What kind of question is that?” Her mom gazes at the girl, the cold look never leaving her gaze. “You haven’t even noticed the effort I’ve been putting in the last few days. Everything I do is never enough for the both of you.” Bada’s parents were taken aback at their daughter's sudden outburst. “Maybe if you were putting this much energy before, we wouldn’t have to say anything to you,” her father points out. “It’s because of that Y/n girl. I should thank her for you.” Bada grumbles at the authority, not wanting to hear the same crap repeatedly. “I understand I may not have been the best child. Trust me, I know. But maybe if you two showed even the tiniest bit of compassion and love, I wouldn’t have turned out this way.” That statement had both her parents shut up, letting her words brew in their minds.
“Bada,” she hears your voice, pulling her out of her thoughts, and everyone looks at you. Your eyes looked at them weirdly as they looked surprised at your presence. “Are you free on Sunday? I have things to do on Saturday, but we can probably finish the project by the end of this week.” She smiles at you, “No problem, we only have a little to go anyways. It shouldn’t take that long.”
“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow then,” you wave off, and Bada’s friends sat there, frozen at the exchange. “That might be the first time I’ve ever heard her voice,” Aiki says, hypnotized by your sweet voice. “I might have to snatch her up from you, Bada.” Noze kids, but Bada looks at her with stone-cold eyes, “No.”
Her friends sit there, unknowingly triggering something inside the tall girl. “It was just a joke, Bada, chill.” Lee Jung tells her as she shakes her head.
Emma looks at her, eyes growing at the assumption, “Are you falling for the girl?” Bada instantly looks at her like she’s crazy, “I just want to finish this project before you guys try anything,” she says, saving herself.
Being oblivious to Bada’s words, you were excited about her game tomorrow. Your outfit was planned. You had snacks and a Gatorade for Bada to drink during her match. Since Tuesday night, Bada had been running on your mind constantly, and you weren’t sure how to handle your feelings. It was the first time you were hardcore crushing on someone, and this project made it challenging to contain your emotions. Her presence, attention, and beauty had you fixated. Since this was a first for you, you wanted to slow it down, trying to navigate it as you went.
So when game day finally came, you wore your hair up in a sleek ponytail and wore an extra jersey that Bada had given you with the number 22. You paired it with some simple Air Forces and ripped baggy jeans. Keep up the mysterious facade. You had your black mask covering the lower half of your face. Everyone stared at you as you sat on the court, wondering what your relationship was with their school’s basketball captain. You only kept your eyes down, not enjoying the amount of attention you were getting.
Bada comes out from the locker room in full uniform and her eyes find your body, and an unconscious smile takes over her face. You looked adorable in the oversized jersey, and Bada just wanted to run up and hug you, but the game was starting soon, and the team had to warm up.
You space out, but the loud blaring of the alarm shocks you out of it. As a book-believing student, you weren’t familiar with the rules or how the sport worked, but Bada made it worthwhile. Bada was noticeably agile and had a massive amount of stamina compared to everyone on the court. As you watched and cheered after her every shot, a blonde girl noticed your attire. A scowl and a look of disgust replaced her cheers. You weren’t even aware of her, focusing on the tall girl the entire time.
When half-time took place, you handed Bada the drink you had prepared for her. Smiling at your gesture, she thanked you and sipped as their coach spoke to them.
The game started again, and as the timer was hitting the last few seconds, the score stood at 86-87, the score slim to the tee. Your heart beats anxiously as you watch Bada maneuver through the court. Haechi had passed the ball to her co-captain, and at 5 seconds, Bada had taken her chance at a three-pointer, and everyone held their breath as the ball spun around the rim. So when the ball fell in at the last second, all your school's students jumped and cheered at the epic finale. Bada looks over at you again, seeing your proud eyes on her. She blew a kiss at you, and you giggled as she celebrated with her team.
“Hey,” you hear her voice and turn around to see her sweaty figure, as her cheesing grin never leaves her face. “Wait for me at the parking lot? I’ll give you a ride home.” She offers, and you nod, pulling down your mask, not wanting to hide your thrilled face. “You were amazing out there, Bada.” The sincerity of your voice made Bada weak to her knees, and she felt giddy inside. “Thanks. I’ll see you in a bit, okay?” You nod, leaving the gym to the parking lot, where you wait, sitting on a bench. When Bada watches you go, she feels the butterflies in her stomach and stands there terrified. The girl started falling for you, the feelings piling up since your first study session. This couldn’t be happening. Bada’s pride wouldn’t let it happen, so she had to do something about it fast.
20 minutes had passed, and Bada still hadn’t come out. Worrying began to fill your mind. You kept checking your phone every minute, and the same anxiety overtook you. You decided to look for her, which honestly didn’t take long. You turned the corner of your school's building. You saw two figures holding each other tightly as they enthusiastically made out with each other.
Due to the darkness of the night, you squinted at the sight, but as it became clear, your heart broke into a million pieces, feeling like it was now dust. It was Bada and another girl. They pull away from each other, breathing heavily, and you hide behind the corner you turned from. “What about that other girl?” The unfamiliar voice asks. “What other girl?” “The girl wearing your jersey?” You swallowed lightly, your chest becoming heavy in your current position. “She’s no one, baby. Don’t worry about it. She was just a little bet.” You hear her, and you sob in silence, walking away from the detrimental scene that just occurred right in front of you.
You sit at the curb, staring at the stars, and laugh at yourself, “You’re so stupid, Y/n. So stupid,” you mumble, the tears getting harder to contain as Bada’s words repeat in your mind. Of course, you were just a bet for her. You were just another girl added to her collection, and it made you fall into despair. She cried to you and opened up, yet you were just another girl. You hit your head lightly in frustration with yourself. “Y/n?”
You jolt up from your spot, wiping your staining tears away, and turn around to find Haechi, who looks at you worried. “You okay?” You nod with a deep breath and huff, “Yeah, just feeling down right now. No biggy,” you try saving yourself, but the cracks in your voice tell the girl otherwise. “What are you still doing here-” She was about to ask but realized what may have happened since she saw Bada walking out with some blonde student from her Physics class. Haechi’s face was now painted sorrowfully, engulfing you in a hug. Her touch had triggered the waterworks again, and you were now crying again, breaths getting weaker when each tear dropped. “I’m so fucking stupid, Haechi. I hate her. I hate her so much,” the tall girl rubs your back, letting you release your anger and sadness. “Don’t say that Y/n-nie, you’re the smartest girl in school. Bada is just… ruthless.” Haechi states, some rage hiding under her voice. She had warned Bada, and the captain still went against her word. “I’m like every other girl, Haechi.”
The tall girl pulls away, shaking her head furiously, “No. No, you’re not. Come on, let me take you home.” You nod, too tired to say anything and sit in Haechi’s car, taking a nap on the way home as you wasted so much energy.
Bada was now trying to look for you everywhere, not noticing how long she took, keeping you waiting.
Bada Y/n? Where are you?
She waited for a response, but it never came. She began to worry but let the win of her game control her mind. An hour later, she was home, and you just got back to her.
Y/n-ah😚 My mom wanted me to go home early. Sorry.
Bada sighed in relief. At least you were safe at home. She was about to respond, but you texted her again.
Y/n-ah😚 About the project, don’t worry about it. I’m finishing it tonight and sending it to Professor Min tomorrow morning.
The tall girl furrows her brows.
Bada Are you okay?
Y/n-ah😚 Splendid.
Safe to say, Bada was terrified at your one-word answers. She felt back at square one, but little did she know she wasn’t even close. Not anymore.
The next time Bada saw you, you were both in school, and she approached you with your favorite drink. “My payment for last week,” she says, handing the drink to you, and you dismiss the interaction instantly. “I’m good,” you tell her and just walk away. Bada stares at you in confusion and is about to go after you but sees you standing at Haechi’s locker. From afar, her co-captain seemingly handed you a blue Monster can, and you hug the girl, thankfully. The interaction had Bada bothered and angry. You took Haechi’s drink but not hers?
She would talk to you about it one way or another, but she couldn’t find you the entire day. The fact that you didn’t have computer science today didn’t help the matter. So Bada decided to talk to you at your house. The rain began to pour, but it wasn’t stopping her from finding out what was wrong. She rang the bell at your gate, unsure if you were home, but when you opened the door, a glimmer of hope sparked until you spoke. “Go home, Bada.”
“What?” “I said go home,” your monotone voice made her want to hide. “Y/n, talk to me, please?” “Why should I?” She looks at you in shock. “What happened?”
“You wanna know so bad?” You walk up to the gate, anger fueling your eyes. Not even caring about the pouring weather. “Somehow, me being the smartest girl in school means nothing when it comes to you.”
Bada didn’t say a word, not knowing where this conversation was going. “Congrats, Bada, you made the top student in school look like the most mindless person in the world.” Bada’s eyes widen, “what do you mean-”
“Oh, don’t act stupid.” You groan and look at her with eyes of disgust. Bada sunk into the thought. She was back to square one. “I seriously don’t understand-” “You don’t understand sucking off another girl’s face while I waited for you in the parking lot? God, when I thought there was progress in your thought process these past few weeks, but I guess I was wrong.”
That’s what froze Bada, her heart dropping at the statement. You saw and heard everything. Bada only wanted to beg for forgiveness right then and there, but she knew she had no right to. It's not like you were gonna accept it anyway. “Y/n I-”
“Just save it, Bada. You don’t have to explain yourself. I get it. I’m just another girl, right? Or what was it you told blondie? A bet?” Bada had no words to save herself, wanting the ground to swallow her whole in shame. “Forget about it, Bada, forget we were ever friends.” You left the conversation at that, slamming the front door behind you. That’s when you broke down. The crying just couldn’t stop, kneeling on the floor of your home as the dreadful silence filled your ears as you heard the heavy rain and thunder pouring outside the windows. For once, you hated the silence.
The next day, Bada wanted to try and apologize again. She looked and looked, not finding you anywhere on campus. She then looks for her second-best bet and sees her standing with her friends. “Haechi!” Bada runs up to the girl as she waves her friends off. Her co-captains eyes held frustration, and it told Bada she also knew the situation. “Do you know where Y/n is?” “Why? So you can break her even more?” Bada knew to expect this, but she wasn’t expecting to be cornered by the girl who shoved her into the lockers.
“I fucking told you, Bada, but what Bada wants, Bada gets, right?” Haechi’s pointer finger drilled into her chest, and the captain winced in pain. “I-I wanna make it right.” “Too fucking late.”
Bada’s body ignores the pain at her words, “What do you mean?” Haechi looks at the girl whose eyes began to water slightly. “She’s leaving for the States. The school gave her an internship for 5 months.” Bada’s world crumbles, and she takes out her phone, sending you multiple messages.
Bada Y/n, I’m sorry. Please don’t go. It was a mistake. I was stupid. I was falling for you, and I was scared. Y/n?
Bada’s tears were uncontrollable as they fell, reading how her messages weren’t sending. “Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.” Bada was now beating herself up in the middle of the hallway. She was hitting her head hard with her fist, pulling her hair harshly, and everyone who saw looked at her in worry. Haechi was shocked at the girl’s actions, seeing how bad she genuinely felt. She did her best to pull Bada’s arms away, and Bada slid down to the floor, blubbering as Haechi did her best to stop the girl from hurting herself. “I’m so fucking stupid, Haechi.” Her teammate didn’t know how to respond, just holding Bada’s arms down as she cried her pain away.

“Have you heard?” you were busy scrolling over your phone when you heard your friend asked the moment she settled down on the seat next to you. Without facing her you asked, “Heard of what?” your lips pouted at the sight of a cute top passing by your feed.
“Jay and (name) broke up again.” she said. You let out a scoff not really giving a fuck about what she just said.
“Stop acting like as if it was the first time. Come on, stop overreacting. Give them at least two to three days and they will eventually get back together.” you sarcastically commented and continued browsing your feed.
The news ain’t new for you anymore. Jay and (name) may be the cutest couple and most loved one around the campus but they’re also the most problematic and toxic for you. Yeah, you’re not gonna lie, the two of them are really meant to be, Jay, the famous star player of the rugby team and (name), the leader of the cheerleader squad, perfect match. But you somehow think they’re pathetic for acting like that in a relationship. For you, commitment is called a commitment for a reason, you got to b responsible and fully commit to and not give up whenever you feel like doing.
“No! This is serious though? (name) have another guy!” she exclaimed. That halted your fingers from scrolling through your phone furthermore. After spacing out for a bit, you scoffed a bit as you clicked the side of your cheek using your tongue.
“Are you that surprised? I’m not that shock anymore.” you said that made your friend pursed her lips.
Soon, the topic about the two couple died down and you’re a bit thankful about it because you don’t think you can take some more. Too much drama ain’t really your cup of tea.
On the other hand, Jay smashed the lockers inside their shower room as his friends watched him silently. The poor boy was furious after hearing about the news of his girl-- well now, ex girlfriend, dating another guy from the rival school’s rugby team.
“Hey dude, calm down and don’t go wreck it ralph our lockers.” Sunghoon said, a smirk was plastered over his lips but deep inside, he felt so bad for his friend. He doesn’t deserve any of this.
Jay clenched his jaw and sat himself down over at a bench and lower his head. He doesn’t know where did he go wrong in his relationship with (name). As far as he remembers, he did everything. He buy her things, give him his attention, affection and love. He’s very loyal too, despite the fact that a lot of girls were after him, he still turn blind eye at them.
He was clenching his fist and jaw while his friends remained silent. The practice were long over but they’ve decided to stay behind for a bit while because of Jay. They’re actually amused how he can still focus in their practice even after hearing the bad news.
“Are you really letting a girl do these stuff at you? I suggest you get back on her!” their heads snapped over to Jake who’s busy going through his phone. His face still looked mischievous but they can see that he is very pissed right now.
“I still love her and I want her back.” Jay mumbled seriously.
His friends looked at him with this disbelief in their eyes. After all he’d been through he still wanted that girl back. They can’t even understand why.
“Are you fucking serious right now, Jay?” Jake cannot believe what he just heard from his friend.
“Dude, wake the fuck up! You’re Park Jongseong damn it. Don’t be stupid.” Sunghoon was irritated as well but still, his ears were tight shut.
Heeseung sighed and tilted his head a bit before he rolled his eyes. “Let him be.” he muttered before he pushed himself off from the wall he’s leaning on before he eyed Jay who still have his head hanging low.
“If you want her back, make her jealous. She’s pretty petty so I think if she saw you’ve got another girl she’ll ask you back herself. Besides, I’m pretty sure she enjoys the spotlight benefit of being in a relationship with you.” he suggested.
Jay raised his head with a furrowed brows, confused but at the same time interested at what he just said. Just the idea of his ex girlfriend asking him back rings inside his desperate mind.
“Good idea. The only problem is she don’t have someone she’ll be jealous of. I mean, have you seen her? She isn’t labeled as the Queen Bee just for nothing.” Jay said.
Jake let out a sarcastic laugh that made Jay turn his head at him. “Dude, have you even looked around you? I hate to break it to you but your ex girlfriend is not that prettiest though.” he said that made him confused.
The boys looked at him with puzzled look so he got no choice but to just heaved a sigh then rolled his eyes. “What I’m trying to say is that I know the perfect girl for that job! The only girl that can make (name) raging mad if she saw you with her.” Jake said.
“Who, Jake hyung?” Ni-ki was curious as well. Like their other friends he do want to know who he’s referring to.
Jake roamed his eyes over his friends and smiled as he saw them waiting patiently for the name he’s going to mention.
“Y/n.” he said. A small smirk slowly appeared over Heeseung, Jungwon and Sunghoon’s lips after hearing your familiar name. They should’ve known he will suggest you for this matter.
Jay furrowed his brows clueless, “y/n?” he asked about the unfamiliar name.
Jake’s smile fell as he rolled his eyes over at his naive friend. He doesn’t know if he’s glad he's loyal or he should be mad that he’s too into his girl that he fail to even know any girls other than (name).
Sunghoon let out a small scoff, “That’s world war, dude. You’re too cruel to even think about that.” he said with a sly smile plastered over his handsome face. Just by imagining about it, he’s already excited for what’s going to occur.
Jay was still clueless for who you are and why his friends react this way after mentioning your name.
“What? I want to mess with (name) since she kept on messing with our friend. I want to make her so upset.” he said, voice determined.
Jungwon let out a chuckle, shaking his head from side to side. “You’re too cruel, hyung.”
“Wait, first of all who’s y/n?” Jay asked, brows hardly furrowed.
Sunoo rolled his eyes, cannot believe his hyung doesn’t know about you at all. Some may say the cheerleading squad is the most popular girls around the campus but he may say that you are one of the prettiest. It just happened that you don’t want to be in the spotlight too much.
“She’s supposed to be the leader of the cheerleading squad, hyung. If she didn’t declined the offer, (name) may never been your girl or y/n should’ve been the one you’re in a relationship with.” he said with full tone sassiness.
Jay was silent for a while. He didn’t know that his ex-girlfriend wasn’t the first choice to be the leader of the cheerleading squad. To hear all of these just made him very curious of you.
“Those two are rivals... well at least for (name) since y/n doesn’t really care about the fame and all.” Sunghoon added while eyeing Jay.
“The real question here is if she’s going to agree about this?” Jungwon interrupted crossing his arms as he leaned over the wall beside his Heeseung hyung.
“We can talk her out of it. She’s nice.” Jake shrugged his shoulders off.
Sunoo scoffed, “I doubt y/n will agree though? She’s sort of pissed with the rugby team.”
Jay furrowed his brows. There are students from their school that hates their team? Why?
“Why is that?”
Heeseung smirked, “Because she said we’re a bunch of assholes.”
Ni-ki chuckled, “She’s cool. I like her already.” the younger one commented before he turned his head over to his hyung.
“Hyung, go get her.” he eagerly said.
Jay rolled his eyes, “I’ll think about it.”
“Dude, just trust me. This will work.” Jake said giving him a meaningful look.
Jay kept silent as his friends started fixing their things because now that they saw Jay already calmed down, they should go head home. Jay’s mind were occupied once again, thinking about Jake’s suggestion.
“Hyung, take care of the lockers.” Jungwon reminded him about the lockers that he kind of broke.
He nodded his head before he huffed a breath and pulled his phone out then dialed someone to fix it for him.
“Y/n, come on!” you rolled your eyes for nth time as you heard Jake Sim still following after you over the long hallways. Students around quickly darted their eyes towards you when they noticed the said male behind you.
You turned around suddenly making the guy halt from his tracks, almost making your bodies collide. She crossed her arm and tilt her head over to the side giving a serious look. Jake blinked a couple of times as he felt a bit anxious with the way you stared at him.
“Seriously, I am getting annoyed with you. Can you just leave me alone?” you hissed at him. He smiled widely showing off that charming smile that he used to manipulate the girls around him but he can count you off since that won’t effect on you.
“This will be fun, I swear.” he half-whispered.
You snorted, “Are you really that bored that you’ve come to the point that you’ll use me for your own entertainment?”
He smirked, “Well, I’m sure you’re a very fun person. I am too and so this will be a good opportunity for doing something fun!”
You scoffed, “Count me out, Sim.” and turned your heels so you can start walking away from him again.
When you didn’t hear him tailing behind, you almost let out an exaggerated sigh because finally, you had escaped him. The next day, he seems occupied about someone else and so he doesn’t have the chance to pester you. While writing something over your notebook, someone sat at the vacant chair beside you. With a short glance you tried to see who it was and your shoulder fell when you saw a familiar smirking face.
“What do you need? Go away.” you promptly tried to shut whatever it is that he’s planning to say. He let out a snickered laugh.
“Don’t you think that’s too rude?” he asked. You returned his snickered laugh and continued scribbling over your notebook.
“Don’t you think you guys should stop annoying me?” you said.
You heard him sigh as he rest his back over the chair he’s sitting on, n “Did Jake annoyed you that much?”
“Yeah. That’s why if you’re planning to annoy me too, fuck off.”
He laughed again, “y/n, that’s not so nice.”
You raised your head and met eyes with Sunghoon. He got this playful smirk over his pretty face so you tried to mirror it with a sarcastic one. “Who said I’m nice? I’m not nice.”
That made him to chuckle once again, “We’re just trying to help our friend.”
“Go find somebody else.” you said and you rolled your eyes. “Who even made you think that I will agree?” you added. You are not close to them, maybe casual? They greet you whenever they see you. Jake Sim even do flirt with you as a joke that you just got used to him. It is safe to say that you are somehow friends with them.
“Jake.” Sunghoon answered.
Of course! It was Jake. You sighed heavily and moved your head side by side before you once again continued your interrupted work. “He’s clearly wrong.” you mumbled and he just shrugged his shoulders off and started minding his own business. Unlike Jake, he isn’t that persistent.
When the day was finally over, you went straight to the locker’s area to leave your things. “Bye y/n! See you tomorrow!” your friend waved at you as she started walking away.
You smiled a little before waving as well and telling her to go home safe. Your mind wandered off to what happened the whole day. The whole situation with the rugby team star players played inside your mind. You never imagined the day that they will ask you to be Jay’s fake girlfriend will come. It was hilarious.
You were startled when you close the locker and you saw someone very tall beside it. You sighed heavily trying to calm your racing heart before you shoot glares at the person beside you. He lets out a snicker of chuckle.
“Please, not you too.” you mumbled softly and leaned your back at your own locker.
Heeseung pursed his lips and watch how you let out a frustrated laugh. “You should agree already if you don’t want us lurking around you.” he said and even smiled at you.
You tilted your head, “You know what? I don’t even expect that you will be here as well to convince me.”
He raised both of his eyebrows at you, “Why?” he asked, curious.
“You know how toxic their relationship and both of them! There is no way I would want to be involve in any way.” you said trying to make a point. He understands it, of course. He was there allthrough out Jay’s relationship with (name) and he can agree to what you just said.
He shrugged his shoulders off, “You are quite right. But Jay looked so desperate and as his friend we’re doing everything we can to help him.” he said giving you a serious look in your eyes.
“I don’t want to be involve with Park Jongseong. Got it?” you said and pushed yourself off from the lockers before starting to walk away from Heeseung. His shoulder fell as he lets out a sigh while watching your figure from afar, at least he did tried his shot.
You thought the days of Jake annoying you were finally over since its been days since he stopped convincing you. Your days were a lot better thankfully, and you were smiling brightly only for your smile to fell after seeing a familiar handsome guy by the end of the hall. His eyes were darted at your direction already and you can’t help but to feel butterflies go crazy.
With a slow pace, you walked towards your locker trying to convince yourself he isn’t there to talk to you. Fixing your things inside, you focused yourself to your goal and that is to ignore him at all cost. Your friend was already finished getting her things fixed and was already standing beside you.
“I saw Jay.” she started. You gave her a side glance, “Shush.” she lets out a chuckle realizing you had seen him too.
You were still trying to fix the non-existent mess inside your locker when someone suddenly talked beside you. “Hello, y/n.” you even got startled at the sound of his voice.
You snapped your head towards him and flashed a smile, n “Hi.” you said and was quick enough to go through your things once again, hoping he’ll leave you alone.
“Uh.. my Dad texted me y/n. I think I need to go.” your friend said that caused you to look at her with disbelief in your eyes. You can’t believe she’s actually ditching you right now. You showed her a look, pleading not to leave you here with Jay but she just smiled then waved.
“So, um.. nice to meet you y/n.” he said beside you, the atmosphere was pretty much awkward as this is literally the first time you two talked to each other.
You know who he is, obviously. Who wouldn’t? He’s one of the best players of your university’s pride, the rugby team. He’s also popular because of his great fashion sense and his god-like visuals. Rich and a fine gentlemen, that’s what they usually use to describe him.
Seeing him in a plain white shirt and a sweatpants, his hair a bit damp because he probably just showered after their practice. Even with the distance, you can tell how good he smell.
“Yeah,” you mumbled as you felt your cheeks blushing. You shrugged it off then calmed you down. All of these are not good for your whole system. You really need to stop yourself from being around the star players because it isn’t good for you.
“Cool. Uhm, I want to be straight forward.” he said and leaned at the locker beside you. His eyes teared away from you and now at the few students passing by. Their eyes would remain after realizing it was Park Jay but he didn’t mind. For him, the attention he is getting right now is normal for him.
“Uh-huh?” you said and closed your locker after getting some of your textbooks that you will be needing for tonight’s homework.
“Can you help me?” he asked, voice a bit low. Your eyes stared at his pretty ones. You may had seen Park Jay all the time around the campus but this is the first time you had looked into him this close and this focus. He’s ethereal.
“Please?” it surprised you. How he just say please while asking you about that favor. For a while, your mouth gapped open, dumbfounded at what you just heard.
You’ve always thought he’s an arrogant person. From the way he kept his serious face, ignoring those who greets him every time, an impression of him having a foul personality was built in you. But after hearing how he just said that, it made you want to have second thoughts.
You sighed, “Look Jay, I know you’re in tough times right now. But I’m sorry, I don’t want to be involve with your mess.” and with that, you turned your heels and without even glancing back you walked away from him.
Jay was hesitant whether he will ask you for the favor or if he’s even down to do the plan. It was risky and he knew it will be a rocky road but he also know he cannot just let go of his relationship like that. He knew to himself that he loves (name) and he just can’t let her go that easily. He gave it some thought and he realized there’s nothing wrong with trying what his friends suggested.
He pursed his lips and sighed heavily before hitting the locker lightly before leaving the locker’s area as well. He didn’t gave up easily and most days, whenever you happen to see him, he asks again and again. You are quite amused at how consistent he is. You never knew he have this much patience towards someone.
You rolled your eyes when you saw Park Jongseong leaning near your locker. Students walking around pass by him were obviously admiring him. When you two met eyes, he stared at you and despite the heart hammering, you managed to raised an eyebrow at him.
“y/n, come on--” Jay tried to start his sentence but like always, you were quick enough to cut him off. “No.” you said and smiled sarcastically before opening your locker. He huffed out a frustrated sigh before he suddenly closed your locker making you flinched a bit. He did it gently but still the action made you surprised.
You sighed heavily, “Why me, though? There’s a lot of girls around you who’s willing to do it!” you hissed at him slowly getting irritated by the situation and by the effect its slowly giving you.
He pursed his lips before running his hand over his hair once, “Because i know you won’t fall in love with me.” he stated that actually made sense.
He was right when he said that. Unlike the other girls who’s always dying to get their attention and almost do everything just for him, you don’t seem like to give a care towards him or who he is. It was somehow giving a different kind of comfort towards Jay, that on some point, he can be his true self around you and you will don’t give a fuck about it.
“Still a no.” you still tried to stood your ground. He sighed out.
“Come on. Aren’t you getting tired of saying no to me? Because I will not get tired to ask you for the favor.” he said and even tilted his head over to the side attractively.
You pursed your lips, cheeks starting to flushed a bit. “Are you that desperate to get her back?” you asked, there’s something on your tone that he cannot describe. He licked his lower lip, eyes still piercing at you.
“Yeah.” he said.
You stared at his eyes for a while before sighing, “If i do this, will you promise to leave me the fuck alone?” you asked him. A smile spread across his face, eyes hopeful. “I promise.” he was quick enough to answer.
After letting out a sigh you said, “Fine.”
“Really?” he asked, eyes hopeful and full of joy. You rolled your eyes but a smile slowly appeared over your lips.
“Yes. I’ll talk to you later. You can ask for my number in either Jake or Sunghoon.” you said.
He smiled, “It’s fine, I already have your number with me.”
“O-Oh, okay. Then talk to you later.” you said and gulped before turning your heels.
Tumblr media
You picked up his call when you saw an unknown number was calling you, “Hello?” you said.
“Hey, its Jay.” he said in a cool way. You sighed and stopped your hand from writing something then started playing with your pen instead. You are at your bedroom and trying to do your homework when he called.
“Okay, if you want to do this right, you have to listen and trust me.” you started.
“Oh okay, Miss. Tell me what to do.” he said, chuckling a bit because he find your bossy personality really cute.
You furrowed your brows, “Are you laughing at me?”
“Of course not. Who’s laughing? Definitely not me.” he answered but you can still hear a snickered laugh from the other line. A smirk slowly spread across your lips so you bit your lower lip, trying to suppress them.
“Jay...” using your warning tone.
He lets out a sexy chuckle, “Alright. Go on, I’m listening.” he said and his fingers played with his smirking lips. He doesn’t understand but you just really looked cute whenever you’re being bossy.
“Okay, so we aren’t going to announce to everyone that we’re dating---well, fake dating.” you said.
“Huh? Then how will (name) know?” he asked confused.
“She will know eventually. We need to take everything slowly. It will appear too fake if suddenly you got a girl too after she had her new boyfriend. That’s suspicious.” you stated and Jay grew silent, realizing you were sort of right.
“So what will we do?”
You sighed, “We can like do lowkey things as a starter. For example, you will give me rides towards somewhere. Greeting me in the locker’s area or even handing me something I left in your car in the middle of my class. Like giving hints to everyone but still not giving them confirmation.” you said.
Jay nodded his head, n “Noted, Miss.” he said that made your heart skip a beat. Why does his voice sounded ten times hotter on the phone? This is making you crazy.
As planned, the next day, Jay picked you up from your apartment to give you a ride towards the school. You didn’t ask him to drop you off in the parking lot but instead by the main gate where a lot of students were inside. After opening his car’s door, you smiled sweetly at him for the first time. Jay was stunned.
“Thanks for dropping me off Jongseong!” you said making some students near you turn their heads to see if it was really Jay. He blinked a couple of times, before nodding his head after muttering a small, ‘Sure.’
You closed his car door then walked inside the campus like as if you didn’t just get off from Park Jongseong’s car. He drove towards the parking lot with mind occupied by how you smiled and how you called his name. No one had called him Jongseong in campus, not even (name), since he doesn’t really like being called that way and because he prefers Jay. But the way you called him...
The following days were just like that, he drive you to school and at the end of the day, if he’s available, he drops you off to your apartment as well. It became like a routine that Jay got used to it already.
“Good morning,” you greeted him when you entered his car. With a smile, Jay handed you something.
“Morning.” he greeted back.
“Wow, morning coffee! How did you know I love coffee?” you asked, with a bright smile. He chuckled, finding you cute as you take the coffee from him.
“I have my ways.” he said and just enjoyed the sight of you taking a sip from the drink. His eyes darted over your seatbelt that’s still not clasped around your body.
“Should I fix your seatbelt for you?” he asked softly. He doesn’t want to just do it because it may make you uncomfortable.
“Please? I don’t want my coffee to spill.” you said with a pout on the lips. He let out a small chuckle, “Alright, baby.” he muttered that halt you from taking another sip.
You were dumbfounded as Jay leaned closer to you put your seatbelt on, you can smell him because he was too close. When he finally put it, he leaned away with a smile. “Okay, the baby is safe now. Let’s go.” he said and started driving.
He was focused on the road that he failed to notice that you’re staring at him. Did he just called you baby? Why does it making your heart beat so fast? You are getting crazier. Is this the Jongseong effect?
When you arrived at the school campus, he dropped you off at the usual and you waved at him with a big smile and cheeks flushed. He smiled and watch how you walk inside. You are too cute for him and so he bit his lips before driving to park his car.
Jay was about to go out when he noticed something was left inside his car, at the seat you were previously sitting. It was your phone. He chuckled and smirked before getting it then put it inside his pocket. With the days he spend with you, he noticed you are very clumsy in a cute way, of course.
In the middle of your second period, your classmate Sunghoon and Jake was excused because of their practice. You were too focused on your work that you didn’t even notice who were at the door.
“Sir, excuse me. Can I just hand something to y/n?” your head snapped by hearing a familiar voice.
Everyone in your class was at dazed by seeing Park Jay by the door. Your teacher nodded his head and Jay eyed you instantly then flashed his sweet smile. Your classmates gasped and your cheeks heated up. You have no idea why he’s here.
“You left your phone in my car, babe.” he mumbled softly making the eyes of the one who manage to hear grew big.
You blushed and lips puckered into a pout, “There it is. I thought I lost it somewhere.” you said, getting along with the plan. He chuckled and put the phone at your hand.
“What will you do without me huh?” he said teasing and to your surprise, he kissed the crown of your head.
“I’m off to practice. See you later.” he said and even raised his eyebrow before starting to walk outside of your room.
You were blushing like crazy when you try to focus at the class once again. The students were still confused to what’s happening but teasing smiles were at their faces after what they just saw. Is that really Park Jay?
“Well that’s a scene.” Jake was smirking when the three of them started walking towards the field.
Sunghoon laughed as he saw a smile plastered over Jay’s face. “She looked cute when she pout, dude.” he mumbled even before he can stop himself. The two looked at each other meaningfully but just try to shrug it off.
When they arrived the field, they can see some of their team-mates sitting by the bench. “Uh-oh, ex is here.” Sunghoon said that made Jay’s smile fell.
“Don’t stare too long, Jay.” Jake reminded and started to walk ahead of the two of them.
When Jay looked towards their direction, he saw her. Looking so pretty with their uniform while they stretch. He pursed his lips, jaw clenching just by remembering what just happened between them. His heart ache and when they met eyes, he quickly looked away. For some reasons, Jay thought of you and how you would look amazing in their uniform.
“We have a homework in history, right?” your friend asked as she opened her locker to get her textbook. You nodded getting your own stuff. It was already dismissal and you were preparing to go home.
You are laughing and talking with your friend when a hand held over your waist and a chaste kiss was placed at your cheeks.
“Hey, sorry. Practice just got finished.” his voice sounded like he just ran so fast to be here.
You looked at the freshly showered Jay. You chuckled despite the flushing cheeks, “It’s okay, baby. We just got dismissed.” you answered back and Jay’s face lightened when he heard you calling him with that endearment. His heart races for an unknown reason.
He leaned and gave you a kiss at your cheeks before saying, “Alright, let’s go.” he said with a smile and you just nodded, ignoring the eyes that were watching the two of you.
The news of you two dating spreads like wild fire through the whole campus. Students have different opinions, there were some saying that him and (name) looked so much better together but a lot says you two are way good together. Weeks passed that you two have that routine and started to actually enjoyed each other’s company.
You were slowly getting really comfortable with Jay. You have no idea when did it start but you enjoyed his company better than you had expected. His small gestures, him being a gentlemen and his caring actions sure was very impactful for you. You then realized he isn’t just Park Jay of the rugby team, he was so much more.
“I can’t believe Jay is dating another girl other than you, (name).” you heard one afternoon. You were at the cafeteria to buy some food when you suddenly heard them.
You don’t know if they’re whispering with each other or they purposely said that out loud so you can hear them. You’re pretty sure they intended it to be heard, thinking you will just let them talk to you like that.
“I know right? It’s just so sad Jay would settle to someone like that. He’s really a disappointment.” she said.
Just hearing the last sentence made your blood boil in anger. How can she say that when Jay was working so hard and is very passionate about everything he do? You sighed and slowly turned around to face them.
They were a bit surprised and they kept their lips pursed as some of the girls at their table glanced away.
“Oh, hi (name).” you greeted with a fake smile. The people around almost stopped from what they were doing just to watch the scene.
You rested both of your hands at their table and tilted your head at her, she was seated at the other side of where you were standing.
“Just to tell you, it’s only sad if its a downgrade but we both know Jongseong actually did a big step dating me.” you said that left a lot of students surprised. (name) was known for being the queen bee of the school and no one stood up against her.
She looked pissed at you, very pissed. You chuckled, “I’m glad you are enjoying your throne of being the queen, (name).” you said and she clenched her jaw as a slight fear flickered over her eyes.
You smirked, “How’s the uniform fitting you huh? I’m relieved I declined the offer of being the squad leader since the cheerleading squad ain’t giving much impact unlike the rugby team.” you said that earned a lot of chuckle from the crowd.
Your smirk fell as you eyed her seriously, “You call Jay a disapointment when its clearly you.” and with that you turned around and was about to walk away when she suddenly grabbed you by the hair.
The crowd panicked as both of you got into a fight. You don’t know for how long but you’re suddenly stopped when a hand grabbed you by the waist and pulled you off from (name). She was crying when you faced her, both of your hairs are a mess. Scratches were over her body and so are you.
Your heart ache when you saw how Jay quickly attended to her, didn’t even gave you a glance. “You okay?” he asked softly at her as she cries over his chest.
Jay finally looked towards your direction and he was glaring. You scoffed before you stood up then quickly ran away from that scene, heart aching so much by what happened. Is it because you got in a fight? Or maybe its because Jay took her side.
“What are you doing here, Jay?” you asked coldly when you saw him leaning over his car in front of your apartment building. It was already 3 am and he asked you to come down and talk to him.
He looked mad as he clenched his jaw hardly while staring at you. “Who said you can hurt (name)?” he started that made your heart ache again.
You stared straight to his eyes that actually made Jay feel things he cannot understand. He is mad right now and he came here to talk to you, but after seeing your eyes and after hearing you calling him Jay instead of Jongseong, somehow made him sad.
“She was--”
“Just to remind you, y/n. We are just pretending. All of these are just fake--” you’ve had enough and so you stormed towards him and pushed his chest.
A tear left your eyes that made him surprised, “Yeah! This are all fake! We are just fucking pretending because you asked me a favor to fucking help you get her back!” you screamed at him. You are hurting and you even don’t know why.
“Jay are you stupid?” you asked then let out a small scoff. “No. Why am I even asking? You are stupid!” you exclaimed.
“Everyone were assuming you are dating me! What do you think they thought after seeing you running towards your ex rather than your girl, huh? They probably thought you are still fucking into her which is fucking true.” you said very mad.
Tears continuously flows over your cheeks and Jay clenched his jaw couldn’t process what you’re actually saying since he wanted so bad to just wipe those tears off. He wanted to say sorry and to comfort you.
“I can’t even fucking understand why you’re so into her? I mean the reason why I got so mad because she think of you as a disappointment!” you said and your eyes reflected pain as he was once again dumbfounded.
“How can I not be mad when I know how much you work hard? How can I not stand up for you and when I know you are in so much pain and she have the audacity to think bad over you.” you sniffed and shut your eyes to calm yourself.
“y/n, I-I’m so--”
“Just leave, Jay. I’m done with you.” you coldly said before you left him.
Tumblr media
You avoided Jay and surprisingly, not much bad news go around the campus. You just shrugged it off and act like none of that ever happened. You can see (name) glaring you but you don’t care about her. You were down most of the day since you are still not in the mood.
You let out a sigh, it was your free period and one of the teachers asked you to go in the field to ask their coach to go in the faculty. You are so irritated because out of all the students you are asked to do that. When you arrived at the field, you saw the players in the middle and you tried to avoid looking there.
“Coach,” you called him and he eyed you. He gave you a meaningful smile, “y/n, glad to see you here.” he said.
You nodded and smiled a little before saying, “You are asked to go in the faculty sir.” he said.
He let out a chuckle, “Oh really? Jay went that far?” you furrowed your brows in confusion and he just chuckled once again.
“Look at the field.” he mumbled and slowly, you did.
Your lips gapped open when you saw the players holding big cards with letters that spelled, ‘I’m Sorry, Baby.’ One letter per card and you saw Jay walking towards you, wearing his jersey uniform and holding a big bouquet of flowers in his hands.
“I’m sorry, y/n. I really mean it.” he said, lips pouting.
You stared at him and eyes roamed a bit trying to look for someone.
“She isn’t here. If you think I did all of these because she’s here, no. I am truly sorry for what I did.”
You pouted before nodding your head. The boys cheered as Jay embraced you, “I’m really sorry baby. I was so stupid.” he mumbled. You slowly snaked your arms over his waist and returned his hug.
Your heart was beating like crazy enjoying his warmth but it aches as well just by thinking that he’s doing this because he doesn’t want you to pull out from your plan of getting his ex back. Shrugging the thought off, you just tried to enjoy it.
“Okay, so we’ll go with my plan.” you said seriously while you two hangs out inside your apartment. Pillows were all over your living room as a movie were playing in the back ground, it was all forgotten because you two were too focused talking to each other.
You just got more determined on helping him after knowing what he been through. “Yeah,” he answered not really interested with the plan as he slowly feed you another popcorn.
“Do you want to watch my practice tomorrow?” he suddenly asked out of the blue.
You looked at him, “Sure.”
Jay’s eyes looked surprise as he straighten his back, excited. “R-Really?”
You chuckled as you stretch your hand to go touch his hair. His eyes shut for a bit, “Yeah. Why do you look so surprise? (name) always there for you before.” you said.
He shrugged his shoulders off as he gently grabbed your hand and started playing with your fingers, eyes darted at it. “Nah, she go at the field for her practice and not to watch me.” he mumbled. You can’t hear any bitterness from it.
“Are you serious?” you asked surprised.
He nodded, “Yep,” and he raised his head to stare at you.
Your heart felt bad for him so you sighed out and leaned in to give him a light kiss at his head, “I will watch you and cheer for you tomorrow.” you said that made Jay’s heart skip a beat.
You did watch their practice game tomorrow and you were screaming so much for Jay. He was loving it and was so hyped up about it. This was a new experience for him and he’s surely enjoying it.
The cheerleading squad were at the far left and (name)’s eyes were at the two of you when Jay quickly run towards your direction the moment he made a point. He carried you and spin you around as you laugh.
“That was so cool!” you cheered.
When he put you down, you two were staring at each other, hearts beating connectively. Jay’s eyes then slowly darted at your lips. “Can I kiss you?” he asked and you heaved a sigh before answering with a nod.
He smiled and slowly leaned in. Your lips connected and butterflies went crazy inside your stomach as you heard the rugby team cheered because of the two of you. Jay chuckled giving you a few pecks before he pulled away. You were blushing like crazy.
“You are blushing baby.” he said, a playful smirk at his face.
“You are too.”
He chuckled and gave you another kiss at your cheeks, “It’s because you’re so beautiful.” he mumbled. You smiled and rolled your eyes.
“Go shower.”
“Alright. Wait for me here.” he said and then he jogged towards their shower room.
“What do you want for dinner?” you asked when you two entered your apartment. You just went home after their practice.
“Anything. Do you want me to cook?” he asked.
You furrowed your brows. “I got this. You just rest, okay?” you said then cupped his face to give him a kiss at his cheeks before you started cooking dinner. You two ate peacefully talking about how he did so well in their practice. Jay was all smiles listening at you. This was the first time he felt so proud of playing in the team. It just makes him so happy, he never thought having someone to talk about this feels so amazing.
After you eat dinner, you two were sitting at the couch while a random tv shows plays in your tv. Jay was beside you playing with your fingers like usual when you turned and face him. He looked at you and raised a brow like asking if you need anything.
You smiled and reached over his face to slowly caress it, “Do you know how handsome you are?” you asked, and you even traced his features.
Jay smirked, hands still fidgeting with your fingers. “I am?”
You rolled your eyes but a smirk was present at your face, “Very.” you mumbled and Jay chuckled before sliding his arm over to you waist to pull you closer.
Your faces were just inches apart, noses almost touch each other as your eyes bore into one another. “God, you look so beautiful.” he mumbled under his breath.
Your fingers touched his lips as your eyes trailed over to it, “Can I kiss you?” you asked, mind floating.
“Of course, baby.” he said and you gulped before you leaned in to kiss him passionately.
Jay returned your kiss, coming at your own pace, making sure it isn’t too much for you. He slid his arms over your waist to carry you over his lap. You yelped a bit but making sure you didn’t break the heated kiss. After a couple of minutes making out, you pulled away to catch a breath. His eyes were hooded as he stared at you while you caress his face.
“Y/n...” he said.
“Hmm?”
“Can we cuddle?” he asked that caught you off guard.
“Please?” he asked and your heart ached a bit at how he pleaded.
Your brows furrowed as you cup his face, “You poor thing. What did she do to you? Of course we can cuddle. You don’t have to plead that way, Jay.” you said and he just glanced away.
“(name) hates it whenever I’m clingy. I just thought you will--”
“I’m not her, okay? Let’s go. I will shower you with cuddles.” you said and stood up from his lap to pull him in your bedroom.
When you two got in your comfortable cuddle position, Jay’s heart was melting like crazy. He doesn’t know where to put the overflowing happiness he was feeling at the moment. Nobody had ever made him this happy.
“Can you call me Jongseong? I love it whenever you call me that way.” he mumbled. You chuckled and kissed his nose.
“Alright, Jongseong. Sleep now because we have school tomorrow.” you said and soon he did drifted into the dreamland.
Ever since that day, you two became inseparable. He started sleeping in your apartment very often to the point he even left some of his clothes at your place. You two just became close and almost forgot about the deal of getting her ex back.
“Hey, baby.” he greeted you when he arrived at the library during your library period.
Your eyes grew wide, “Hi. Why are you here? I thought your busy with practice.” you said. He smirked and placed a kiss at your forehead, then your cheeks and then your lips.
You smiled and pulled him for another two kiss at the lips. “I went here to take some food for you. I don’t want you skipping meals during lunch.” he said that warmed your heart. He showed you a paper bag with the food he was talking about.
“Awe, thank you baby.” you thanked him and he just leaned back closer.
“Give me a kiss.” demanded that made you chuckle before you leaned to kiss him again.
“Did you saw the extra shirt I prepared for you this morning? I put it inside your bag.” you reminded.
His smile grew wider, “Yes baby. Thanks about that.” you just give him a nod.
You were looking at each other when you suddenly said, “You’re doing great. (name) is at the corner and she’s looking at us now.” you mumbled, heart aching as you say those words.
Jay furrowed his brows in confusion, “Huh? She’s here?” you were surprised at his response.
“You... didn’t know?”
He pursed his lips then tilt his head over to the side, “No. I just came here because I want to see you and to take you some food.” he answered that made your heart skip once again.
“And to give you this. You promise me you’ll wear that for my game tomorrow.” your eyes darted over to what he was handing you.
“Oh, okay. Of course I will wear this. Thank you.” you said and smiled sweetly at him.
He smirked and kissed you another one before he left. You were still smiling so big when you heard your friend chuckling beside you.
“I thought I will have to see the two of you make out the whole day. My gosh, are you sure you two are just in a fake relationship? You two looked so happy together, just date for real.” she said and you just smiled a little.
Your heart then ache again as you eyed (name) direction and you saw her with a furrowed brows. You heard she broke up with her boyfriend and you already have a clue why. You’ve saw her stares with you and Jay and you understand what it was. You can tell she’s jealous just by the look in her eyes, you know because she used to be your friend. The main reason why you declined the offer was because you know how much she wanted that and so you said no to the offer so she can be the leader but still, your friendship ended.
The next day, you were very excited while wearing Jay’s jersey, with a big number 99 at the back, you went to the venue. You were quickly catching attention because that uniform was his last year’s jersey and it did have a great memory since he did very well last year too.
“Baby!” you shouted to catch his attention.
His eyes brighten when he saw you wearing his jersey. He excused himself and ran towards your direction. “Took you long enough. I saved you seat.” he said and motioned you towards the seat he saved for you.
You roamed your eyes towards his face as your eyes slowly become teary. He furrowed his brows, worried on your expression. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
You pouted then shake your head from side to side, “N-Nothing. Good luck, okay? You got this.” you said trying to convince him that nothing is wrong.
He nodded then cupped your face, he stared right at your eyes. “We’ll talk later, hm?” and with that he leaned closer and kissed you at your lips.
The game went well, even if you’re preoccupied, you managed to cheer for Jay. You screamed your lungs out and you supported him. Your heart ache as you watch him hug his team-mates after the victory. You should be happy, you should be glad that they won but you can’t. Because tonight, you are about to let him go. You are going to do your move for them to get back together. You are going to let go of the man you love the most.
As the crowd went wild when they won, you smiled widely while looking at him in the field. After their celebratory hugs, his eyes quickly darted at your direction and shouted something. Your brows furrowed in confusion because you cannot hear it due to the roaring of the crowd. You just chuckled and gave him a flying kiss.
Jay picked you up that night because they have an after-party and he’s taking you as his date. You agreed because you thought it will be the perfect opportunity for the two of them to talk. So while Jay was busy talking with his friends, you texted him to meet you at the parking lot. He was confused a bit as to why you were there. He thought you were with your friends in that party. With a worried face he went there only to be more confused, instead of you, he saw (name) leaning over his car.
A tear left your eyes when you saw (name) hugged Jay and you decided to leave them alone without glancing back. You cried, walking away with only the memories of the two of you and your broken heart.
“(name)?” Jay’s tone was confused when he saw her leaning over his car. The girl smiled and quickly caged him in an embrace.
He was taken aback was quick enough to push him off of him gently. “Where is y/n?” he asked. He saw how (name)’s face changed and her smile fell but she pulled it off again.
“She left.” she answered. He furrowed his brows and was about to fish his phone inside his pocket to call you but his hands were stopped by (name).
“Jay, I already know about everything.” she said that caught Jay’s attention.
“What do you mean?”
“I know about the plan. Y/n told me.” she said and she walked closer to him. She was about to pull him into a kiss when he moved his face causing her lips to touch his cheeks instead.
“I don’t know what y/n told you but I hope you don’t get the wrong idea.” he said, jaw clenching. He’s mad and worried.
“Why are you like this Jay? I told you, I already know about your plan to make me jealous for me to get back with you! I am here now. I realized I love you and I’m sorry for what I’ve done.” she said but Jay’s mind was full by nothing but you.
“Jay, please i love you.” she pleaded, eyes teary.
Jay’s eyes darted her. If its the old him, he will cage her in a warm and tight embrace. He hates it whenever he see her cry, he still don’t feel okay seeing her that way, but its different now. He can’t feel anything.
“Look, (name)...” he said and sighed heavily.
“We did have a plan to make you jealous.” her eyes looked hopeful after she heard that from him  but when she his cold eyes staring at her, her shoulder fell. It isn’t the same way he looks at her.
“I do want to get you back before but,”
“But its her already, huh?” she finished it for him.
Jay smiled, “I can’t believe I’m going to say this but thank you for breaking my heart. Without that, I won’t meet y/n and I won’t be this happy.” he said. (name) chuckled sarcastically as tear left her eyes.
“I hope you’ll see your happiness too.” and Jay gave him a handkerchief before he quickly went inside his car to go look for you.
Tumblr media
“Where were you?” you got startled when you entered your apartment and someone just talked.
With widened eye you turned around to see Jay darkly looking at you while sitting at your couch. He isn’t wearing the clothes he’s wearing at the party and instead he’s in his shorts and white shirt.
“J-Jay? What are you doing here?” you asked, heart beating so fast.
“Since when did I became Jay? It’s Jongseong for you, y/n...” he mumbled and he stood up to go walk closer to you.
He couldn’t wait for you to approach to him so he did it himself. You were too stunned to move from your position anyway.
“Where were you? I was looking for you and calling nonstop.” he said and slowly embraced you, face burying at your neck.
“W-Why are you here?” eyes starting to water.
“Because I live here.” he said.
“I’m serious...” you pulled off from the hug as you eyed him.
“You should be with her. I did it. I told her you love her and that--”
“Who told you I still love her?” he interrupted you.
“B-But isn’t that why you asked me to help you?”
“Yeah.” he said and his hands rested at both of your hips to hold you.
“That was the original plan but after I said sorry to you because of what happened in the cafeteria, I realized you were right.”
“T-Then why did you ask for help to take her back?”
“I didn’t. You just assumed that I said sorry because I still want her back. I said sorry because I don’t want to lose you.” he said, and your eyes watered before you suddenly hugged him tight.
“I g-got so scared. I thought I will lose you tonight.” he chuckled and drop a kiss at the crown of your head.
“I think you didn’t heard what I shout at the field because the crowd was too loud so I’ll just repeat it now.” he said and moved away from you.
He brushed some of your hair away from your face before he smiled genuinely. “I love you, y/n. I love you so much.” he muttered while staring lovingly at your eyes.
You pouted, “I love you, Jongseong.” and with that he leaned in to give you a kiss at your hearts beats at the same time becoming one.

Mind Games: Trepidation
"For now, the Sleepers are the lucky ones; they don't know the rest of the world is joining them while the rest of us watch, useless."
"The Orchard's Centennial Celebration is incredibly important; it marks the beginning to our city, and it's a happy thing in the midst of all the shit going on."
Welcome to Mind Games: Trepidation, the first game in the interactive-fiction series Mind Games. The series will be a supernatural romance with horror, fantasy, and sci-fi elements, set in an alternative version of our world. This will be a six part series, and there are six romantic options.
As for the blurb:
Armington is a small city, with a population and size that still borders on being called a town. The peace is generally kept by one Sheriff Quinn and his trusty private investigator... otherwise known as you. You, an Alpha (a human with incredibly non-human abilities), someone who probably shouldn't be anywhere near law enforcement given your kind is outlawed with a kill-on-sight allowance by the government... but that's not your worst worries, not in the slightest.
Starting in your hometown of Armington, a slow but steadily growing illness is spreading among the Supernaturals in your community and somehow, globally, to Supers who have never even set foot in Armington. An illness that renders those infected into a comatose state, as well as some kind of black ooze to come from their orifices. And, as it continues to steadily spread, it becomes less and less clear how you are supposed to "peacekeep" or even fix what's going on... so the Advocacy of Peace steps in to assist.
The Advocacy of Peace, while an independent group that has existed before several countries even came into existence, is employed by several governments globally to publicly ‘control’ the Alpha issue... and globally, and far more discreetly, governs the entire Supernatural population, keeping their existence secret from humanity.
On top of all of this, from trying to run after an unknown cause to an unknown illness, balancing your normal work life with your private investigative one, and even playing nice with the Advocates sent in to help, there's still one more thing to contend with: the Centennial Celebration of the founding of the apple orchard that eventually grew from a road-side bar by the same name to the city in which it resides. Which, given the city was originally founded by Supernaturals, many will be flocking to Armington to celebrate. With so many things to balance, how will you handle the pressure that seems to have no end in sight?

The new demo is out, up to Chapter 6!: https://dashingdon.com/play/bottlecaprabbitgames/mind-games-trepidation/mygame/
The Romantic Options and some features to expect will be under the cut:
Some features to expect:
- The ability to select pronouns, gender, and sexuality, including asexuality, which also won't lock out romances nor NSFW scenes.
- Multiple versions of NSFW scenes that reflect the above items.
- Six romance options, each with their own distinct problems, views, and secrets.
- Choices that will matter far past where you make them, AND your decisions will not be forgotten by those around you. That also means not everyone will agree with your decisions, no matter how close the two of you are.
- Most ROs can be romanced by anyone, only one RO has set genders they'll be romantically involved with.
- A lot of customizations for your character, each of which will be listed on the stats page
- A few special stat pages, one includes dictionary entries for things MC knows but the player may not.
- TBA
The Romance Options:
Freja Ellingboe: The Commanding Agent of her team, Freja can be brutally blunt and has little patience for those unable to focus on the task at hand during working hours. It doesn't help that even outside of work, she's rather reserved... mostly because she suffers from massive amounts of social anxiety. Despite this, she has nothing but warmth in her heart for her team and even their wrangler, even if she has a hard time showing it.
Gender: Cis woman
Sexuality: Demisexual
Race: Viila
Adontis: The second-in-command to Freja, Adontis is almost opposite to her in personality. He's rather amiable and smooth, and as such, handles the part of their job that requires a... diplomatic touch. However, it can be challenging to get to know him on a personal level, as he's well-versed in deflection tactics and doesn't deal well with the whole "getting to know you on a personal level" bits. He's also one of the oldest beings currently still in existence.
Gender: Cis man
Sexuality: Currently experiencing bisexuality
Race: Vampire (original virus)
Fawn: Fawn is... hard to describe. Cagey, edging on hostile, and reluctant to deal with people in every way possible. She's been betrayed far too many times, and after the third time she had to deal with the loss of everyone close to her, she's incredibly reluctant to trust anyone. She doesn't even go by her true name: Fawn was one she chose herself, to represent her forced new life after being thrown from her tribe for crimes she did unwillingly, and being on unsteady legs that had to strengthen quickly.
Gender: Woman? (She just uses the pronouns she started with, but has no ties to any gender, really.)
Sexuality: Bisexual, but only for ladies and androgynous or feminine non-binary people
Race: Skinwalker
Blake Gautier: Blake is a Cajun man straight from the bayous of Louisiana. Formerly a biker before his life went to shit and known for being quite the flirt, he's also rather useful in social settings, depending. However, he also comes with a temper that often leans on short, and it can be quite easy to push his buttons and incite violence. Underneath it all, he's a man that suffered a great heartache, and while he wants to love again, the idea of facing the same loss can render him fearful of such feelings.
Gender: Cis man
Sexuality: Chaotic bisexual, also known as the distaster bisexual, tends to attract moronsexual persons
Race: Werewolf (not to be confused with Lycanthropes)
Iris/Irien Faede: Iri is... to put it simply, Iri's what you'd get if you put a bunch of lit firecrackers and bottle rockets in a barrel full of gasoline. Chaotic and prone to doing dangerous things, as well as a pro at making alchemical bombs and pulling off pranks, Iri is a godsdamned handful. It's unknown how Freja and Adontis handle them, but the two do a mostly good job at it. Iri also has many secrets, some of which would hurt those around them if they were to be found out...
Gender: Questioning, Iris uses she/her and Irien uses he/him
Sexuality: Pansexual
Race: Magus?
Loche: Loche is incredibly slow to trust and has very little understanding of human world social etiquette, given things are very different in their homelands of the Fae Realms. They are struggling to adapt to this new world, even after living in it for three years, and because of that, they are rarely seen away from someone from the team, especially Fawn. However, their usual behavior seems to be utterly forgotten in the MC's presence, much to the confusion of the rest of the team... and Loche themself.
Gender: Cis Man/Cis Woman (they share the same name)
Sexuality: Biromantic (They do feel sexual attraction to any MC, but up till MC it has mostly been to the opposite gender. It's been a bit of a confusing time for them, given it's not just a passing attraction.)
Race: Faeral, Leopard
(feel free to ask about anything else!)

world state: refresh, chapter two
Last chapter: “—From the description, it’s basically the same as the synopsis of your run of the mill VRMMORPG anime, except the virtual games are real worlds.”
“Sure, but if they’re real worlds, then what does being a Game Master mean?”
Shen Yuan grins down at him.
“Hey, Airplane,” he says. “How do you feel about being an actual god?” [Read ch. 1]
“Oh, yaaawn!” She throws herself back onto the plush surface behind her and stretches her arms above her head. “Man, what a chore! Hey, Dorazou, make a note to always double check the Mission Rating before accepting an Assignment in the future. No way in hell am I gonna be doing that again!”
“AwRAWRight!” The tiny avatar cheers, pumping a little red scaled fist into the air. “Reminder set! Hey, Host, if it’s any consolation, this system thinks you totally aced it!”
“Hmm,” she crosses her arms and stars at the collection of screens that have popped into existence before her. “The mission grading will be the judge of that. Let’s see, here…. Oh, awesome! I earned a double S score! You know what that means!”
Dorazou gives another little roar cheer that sounds more like a kitten's mew than anything. Ah, so cute! “Host may close her next Assignment! Congratulations!”
The agent gathers her hair up into a loose and messy bun at the top of her head, breathing out a sigh of relief. “Awesome. Let’s choose something easy, why don’t we? That last world was only an A-rank, but it gave me a lot more trouble than I bargained for. It should have been labeled at least S-tank! Dorazou, bring up all available Assignments. B-rank or lower only, please!”
“Gotcha!” The tiny dragon-themes sprite gives a little twirl, it’s clunky arms flailing adorably. “Assignment list set to: Easy!”
“Perfect, thanks! Let’s take a look, now… Otome-world…. Fantasy style cooking show star, haha. I have zero talent in that area, so please decline it for me, Dorazou…. Another Knights Order needs a Pure Heavenly Maiden for such and such ritual, ah, that honestly just sounds so sinister, decline! And here we have yet another otome assignment, damn. These things are such pests. Oh, what’s this?”
Sitting up, the agent leans in and peers closely at the screen, eyes bright in excitement. “Hey, Dorazou! This one calls for a team of agents!”
“That is correct!” Dorazou says, beaming. The dragon floats up to sit comfortably on the girl’s shoulder. “System Agents 74 and 81 have put in a request for additional manpower in the Game Master Assignment for World-120MAX. If Host accepts, she and four other agents will be tasked with working under the leadership of Agent 74 in creating and managing a Game World.”
She tilts back again, kicking her legs up into the air with some excitement. “What’s the deadline?”
Dorazou is quiet for a moment as it studies the screens. It gives a hearty cheer and pats the agent on the head. “No deadline! Host will remain on Agent 74’s GM Team until it is decommissioned by the Team itself!”
She jumps off the beanbag entirely to float up into the air, catching the little dragon sprite and hugging it to her chest. “Awesome! So it’s basically a neverending paid vacation, if we want it to be? That totally rocks! Dorazou, we lucked out with this one!”
“AwRAWRight!” The tiny system cheers, looping its scaly arms around her neck in a hug. “Is Host choosing this Assignment, then?”
“As if I’d ever turn down a chance like this! System Agents hardly ever get to work together! Dorazou, please confirm my acceptance!”
“Assignment chosen! Does Host wish to rest in the home space before starting?”
“Nah, I’m way too pumped now,” she clenches her fists and grins. “Dorazou, let’s go meet our new friends!”
“RAWR! World-120MAX loading! Twenty-eight percent! Fifty-percent! Eighty-three percent! World load complete! Entering database now!”
The agent grins as she dissolves into light. This is gonna be sweet!
“Nice to meet you! My name is Myra Khol, System Agent 23! I’m here for the Game Master Team Assignment!”
“The what?” The boy says, expression just positively befuddled as it has been when she’s first loaded into the world, and Myra tilts her head in slight confusion. Has this guy never met another agent before?
She hops down from the tree and steps over to him, a little surprised when he takes a step back in return. Man, this guy is shy! How cute!
“Wait a minute, did you just say ‘System’?” The boy straightens up, his eyes going even wider than they’d already been. “Does that mean you are also a transmigrator?”
“What else would I be?” Myra huffs out with some bemusement. “You guys clearly haven’t put any people in this world yet, so the only ones you’d be seeing are yourselves or another agent.”
“Agent…” the boy echoes, holding the fan up to his lips in thought. It’s an endearing gesture, something so old fashion being slightly out of place with the futuristic fantasy design of the boy’s outfit, and yet it still somehow fits him.
Myra blinks at him, and then decides to take pity. From the looks of it, this kid is a noob at the job. She remembers when that had been her. The good old days!
“Didn’t your Systems explain it to you guys yet?” She asks.
At her words, the boy’s expression darkens. “The System? No. Why would the System explain anything?”
Oh. That sounded like anger, there. Myra reaches out a hand and nervously scoots her precious Dorazou over until it’s hidden behind her back. The little dragon makes a tiny noise of confusion, but goes along with it.
The boy narrows his eyes at her action. “Speaking of systems… is that one yours?”
“Um, well,” Myra coughs. “Yes? But! Dorazou is such a sweet little thing! Wouldn’t harm a fly! Please take care of it!”
The boy looks confused. “Wouldn’t harm a fly! Have you never been threatened with Punishment Protocol?”
Myra gapes, aghast. “No! That’s reserved for triple S class worlds on the highest difficulty setting! Why would an Assignment like that be given to newbie agents?”
The boy stares at her, face pale.
“Oh.” Myra presses her hands over her mouth, staring at him in horror. “I mean, I’ve heard it happening only once. Someone being given an extreme-difficulty Assignment for their very first world. It was basically an impossible mission, but she luckily managed to complete it successfully. The Assignment Parameter glitch that led to it was suppose to have been fixed since then, though. Are you really saying…?”
The boy lets out a weak sounding laugh, bowing his head. He rubs the back of his arm across his eyes, and Myra feels something in her chest ache at the sight. These two agents… they’ve really been through the wringer, haven’t they?
Clearing her throat hesitantly, she asks, “The Assignment said there were two agents behind the request. Since you’re here, where’s your partner?”
“He’s on the other side of the Level, touching up on some persistent glitches that are occurring in quadrant five,” the boy releases an aggravated sigh. Then, he glances at Myra in surprise. “Oh, I haven’t introduced myself yet, have I? My name is Shen Yuan, it’s really nice to meet you.”
Myra grins back at him, relieved. “Is it? For a moment there, I thought you weren’t happy to see me.”
“Are you kidding?” Shen Yuan laughs again, and this one is much lighter. It suits him way better than the faintly grieved sound from before. “I am ecstatic to meet you. It’s nice to know that we’re not as alone as we thought. Here, I’ll take you to my… partner. He should be about finished by now.”
Myra bounces onto her toes in excitement. She grabs Dorazou by the tail and troops after Shen Yuan when the boy turns his back and begins to walk away.
“Man, not being given a tutorial world really sounds like it sucked,” Myra says, side eyeing her new teammate as she comes up beside him.
Shen Yuan has an odd smile on his face when he replies. “It was… definitely something, yes.”
“You want me to lodge a complaint with Management?” She asks, a pinch of worry between her brows. “If all three of us do it, they’ll have to take another look at the glitch and make double sure that it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
Shen Yuan is quiet for a long while as they walk along the quaint little dirt path. The silence stretches into minutes, and Myra decides to leave him to his thoughts, because it looks like he’s pondering something pretty deep.
She busies herself with checking out their surroundings as they move along. Shen Yuan has called this area the Level, and she’s assuming it’s the first of its kind, and therefore intended to be the Starting Area for the Players when they enter into this world. She’s done her reading while loading into the Assignment, so she’s fairly confident in her ability to assist Shen Yuan and his partner with whatever sort of administration work they need help with. So far though, from what she’s seeing, the two of them are actually off to a really good start. One or both of them must have some sort of experience in world building.
What a perfect Assignment for them, if that’s the case.
Especially if what Shen Yuan says is true, and he really had suffered through a triple S class of extreme difficulty for what was suppose to be their tutorial world. He really deserves a paradisal vacation such as this, where he can recuperate from the troubles he’d faced.
“It shouldn’t have happened in the first place,” Shen Yuan finally says, voice so quiet that Myra wouldn’t have heard it if the rest of the world around them wasn’t dead silent. It seems the audiosphere hasn’t been set up, yet.
Myra glances over to her side, and finds Shen Yuan staring down at the ground with a frown on his pretty face. His hands are clenched into fists at his sides.
“You said they already patched the glitch, so it shouldn’t have happened. They — whoever they are — clearly didn’t do their job.”
Myra bites her lip, and hugs a strangely quiet Dorazou to her chest. “Yeah, so we should file a complaint, right? And we can get the rest of the team on board with it, too, once they get here. I’m sure they’ll agree, too.”
“The rest of the team?” Shen Yuan asks, frown still present. He flicks his wrist, and the fan opens with a sharp snap and a skillful flourish. Myra stares at the action in awe. So refined! So graceful! And the fan itself was exquisite.
“I’m sorry, could you elaborate on the… Assignment Parameters you mentioned before? Xiao Lei and I just needed help, and the system said we’d have it. It didn’t explain what that help was, or where it would come from.”
Xiao Lei must be the other agent, Shen Yuan’ partner. Myra files the name away and directs a bright smile in the direction of her new teammate.
“Sure thing! Basically, your request generated a new Assignment in the listings for agents. It asks for five agents to form a team directly under you and your partner, though Agent 74 is suppose to be the team leader. That wouldn’t happen to be you, would it?”
Shen Yuan blinks at her, before his frown returns in full force. It looks faintly irritated this time, and the boy calls out, “System, what is my, uh, Agent number?”
There’s a faint sound of static, before a slightly stilted and robotic voice replies, “Host is filed as Agent 81.”
Myra glances down to see a Siamese cat, tail poised elegantly in the air and ears perked upright, weaving between Shen Yuan’s every step like a ghost. The cat glances up at her and blinks it’s bright blue eyes at her with an indifferent gaze.
“Oh, is that your System? It’s so cute!” She squeals.
The cat glances away from her, and Shen Yuan huffs.
“It’s an absolute snob, is what it is,” the boy refutes.
His system doesn’t look back up, and Myra feels a little bad for it, but…. Well, she supposed, if she’s been trapped in an SSS-rank hell world for her first Assignment, she might have some resentment toward her system, too.
She clutched Dorazou to her chest at the terrible thought, and is comforted when the little dragon spite turns around to nuzzle her back. It seems she’s really lucked out, huh?
“Does your system have a name?” She asks, scratching Dorazou behind the ear.
“Does it need one?” Shen Yuan asks coldly.
Myra cringes, glancing down at the aloof-looking cat that darts between his legs. It doesn’t even twitch at the way that it’s host speaks about it, and Myra decides to change the subject least the air becomes too awkward.
“So, um, I guess your partner is the designated team leader, then!” She tries, her smile fixed in place.
Shen Yuan shrugs. He flutters the pretty fan in front of his face and holds his other arm behind his back. He looks like some sort of regal young master of an ancient dynasty, with a posture like that. Myra wonders what the setting of his last world had been. Imperial court drama, perhaps? That sort of plot was almost always a guaranteed S rank.
“It suits him,” Shen Yuan says. “He has the most experience in creating worlds, so I guess I’d follow his lead even if he wasn’t the boss. Though, I’ll definitely be there to advise him, so he doesn’t get too carried away.”
“Carried away?” Myra wonders.
“It happens, sometimes.” Shen Yuan grimaces. “If it’s true that we’ll be a team, then I’ll be counting on you to keep an eye on him, as well.”
“Yes, of course!” Myra is a little confused, but Shen Yuan obviously knows his partner best, so she’ll take his words to heart. She salutes him. “You can definitely rely on me for that!”
This gets her a faint smile, and she inwardly cheers. This boy is surprisingly difficult to get a response out of. Myra hasn’t met someone like him in a long time.
Suddenly, Shen Yuan pulls to a stop, and gestures ahead of them. “We’re here,” he says, and then sighs. “Looks like he’s not finished… I wonder….”
Myra looks ahead of them, to see a huge structure looming in the distance. The forest they’ve been strolling through has given way to an open plain, grasslands mixed with an opaque sandy desert. A few hundred meters away sits a hulking building, which in closer examination is not a building at all, but in fact some sort of autonomous being. It’s collapsed on its side, limbs askew, a central panel of its torso gaping open to allow its mechanical insides to be strewn about throughout the grass and sand around it. There’s faint noises of metal hitting against metal coming from within it, and when Myra squints, she can just make out a tiny figure perched on the very edge of the thing’s opened chassis.
Shen Yuan takes a step forward, and Myra keeps back. He closes his fan with a satisfying clack and slips it into the pocket of his shorts, and then cups his hands around his mouth. “Hey, Shang Lei! Come here!”
Oh, so the other agent’s name was Shang Lei, not Xiao Lei.
Myra pokes at her lip in thought as she watches the distant figure poke it’s head up out of the mechanical innards of whatever creature they were tinkering around inside of. Shen Yuan, Shang Lei… those names both sound pretty Chinese to her. And in Chinese, Xiao is often used as a diminutive or an endearment. So, this must mean that Shen Yuan and Shang Leo are actually very close friends, right? Myra covers her smile with a hand.
Due to context gathered from Shen Yuan's earlier words, it must also be likely that they were partners in their last world. Meaning that Shang Lei also experienced what was, in layman’s terms, called a Hell Assignment. And it is likely that the Hell Assignment was also Shang Lei’s first Assignment, given that Shen Yuan has no idea about a lot of System Agent common sense.
If they were partners all this time, if Shang Lei had previous transmigration experience, he’d have schooled his partner on it by now. And yet, Shen Yuan was ignorant of a lot of things.
Myra presses both her palms to her cheeks and sighs quietly as she watches Shang Lei approach them. Shen Yuan has stepped up to meet him, but she can clearly see the hesitant way that Shang Lei holds himself, the wary way that he eyes her. The way that he slides himself into the shadow of Shen Yuan’s barely taller stature when he realizes she’s looking back at him.
She sighs in her heart, as well, and clutches Dorazou in one arm like a teddy bear. Her system pays her on the hand.
“—apparently posted an assignment asking for other agents to come and lend us a hand.” Shen Yuan is explaining quietly to his partner — his friend. He gestures at her with a hand. “This is Myra Khol, the first one to accept the mission.”
Myra steps forward the smallest step she can take without it seeming like she’s wary of them, too. It still makes Shang Lei duck even further behind Shen Yuan. She does not let it dim her smile.
“Hi, I’m Myra, System Agent 23! I’m pleased to meet you, boss!”
Shang Lei peeks out from behind his friend with wide eyes. There’s a complicated expression on his face.
“... Nice to meet you, too,” he mumbles, and curls back behind Shen Yuan as soon as the last word is out.
That is it! Myra has decided! She will help these two to the best of her abilities, not because it’s the Assignment, but because she wants to!
Dorazou! Edit Assignment self parameters!
[[Host!]]
The dragon sprite makes a soft noise from within her grasp. She sees the way that Shang Lei’s eyes dart down to it, and the frown that graces his face as he glances shyly back toward her with an expression that almost looks faintly concerned. For her. And given the fact that it’s very possible that Shang Lei’s opinion of systems is the same as Shen Yuan’s, due to their not-so-great past experiences, the look that he’s sending her now makes Myra’s heart melt.
[[Assignment parameters, self edit mode!]]
Myra’s smile broadens.
Take care of Agent 74 and Agent 81! Priority!

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO HAVE A MICROPENIS
My micropenis is approximately ½ to 1 inch long when flaccid and 3.3 inches long when fully erect.  When  fully erect it has an upward angle and a slight banana curve. It is also very thin (2.8), though proportional to the length.  According to calculations my penis has a volume of 36.19 ml / 1.22 fl oz (us).  Various studies suggest that the average American penis is 2.8–3.9 inches flaccid and around 4.7–6.3 inches when erect.  According to online information at SIZEMEUP, in a room of 1000 guys only 1 would be shorter than me.
In an adult, the average stretched penile length is about 13.24 cm (5.21 in.). An adult micropenis is a stretched penile length of 9.32 cm (3.67 in.) or less.  Growing up I remember reading that a micropenis was defined as any penis shorter than 2.8 inches in length.  But have been subsequently given new information that slid me well under the 3.67 inch upper limit.
Where Do I Stand On The Penis Size Chart?
Tumblr media
All this to say: the majority of average flaccid penises are longer than mine when I am erect.
I cannot say that I am deeply ashamed of my micropenis, but certainly I have experienced shame with regard to my size.  I can say that I am extremely self aware of my penis size.  This is largely because of the of things I hear women and women say about micropenis, and people’s reaction to my own micropenis.
I can only speak from personal experience, but the number of times I have heard women making fun of men for the size of their manhood is staggering. At one time, I actually overheard three or four of my colleagues at work all agreeing that "men with small dicks should be required to wear a warning sign."
In school, especially high school and as an undergraduate, I was subject to a lot of hazing and bullying that was directly connected to my having a micropenis.  As a sophomore in high school I was depantsed at the pool by three bullies when I got an unwanted erection. They lifted me up and held my arms behind me to prevent me from covering my erection so the entire PE class present saw what happened.  The coach had left the pool area when it happened. While the three boys were penalized, the damage was done any my “secret” became known through out the school before the end of the day.  The teasing commenced immediately and was unrelenting.  Even my mother got calls from some friends who had heard about the incident (and my condition).  My mother reacted in anger at me that somehow I was responsible for the situation (and her subsequent embarrassment).  No empathy there.  I was depantsed three more times before I graduated from high school and it was clear to me why I was being targeted.
I was on the swim team and during a competition with a neighboring town, discovered that two of the players from that town recognized me as the guy with the “baby dick” which got shouted as I started my event.  So, word had spread.  I felt like a pariah.
Tumblr media
Numerous scientific studies have suggested time and again that for the majority of women in the western world, tiny penises are simply undesirable. I am 28 and have had just only three sexual experiences (through personal choice) with women, two of which were very humiliating, to say the least.
In high school, my first consensual sexual encounter was with a boy named Billy.  I was 13 and he was 15.  He was interested in anal sex, and wanted to top me.  I was willing to bottom despite the fact that he was very well endowed.  He did tease me about my micropenis, but seemed to accept it.  I was not prepared for how painful the experience of bottoming would be, but he continued to be interested in me, and treated me well (we even kissed) so I was willing to continue to have sex with him as a bottom.  I fell in love.  Then he disclosed to his homophobic older brother that we had been having sex and that put an end to our relationship.  His brother let me know (rather violently) that I was to stay away from Billy or he would castrate and kill me. Billy, who had a black eye, never spoke to me again.
My first sexual encounter with a woman happened during my Junior year in high school.  She was a sophomore and I was a Junior. When I undressed I could tell she was “shocked” even though she was a virgin and had never seen a man naked.  She has seen photographs of naked men, and she had a brother in college.   She was well pleased with my digital and oral skills, and actually squirted into my mouth (something I didn’t even know was a “thing” that might happen). Unfortunately when I attempted to penetrate her, my condom slipped off, and my orgasm was triggered prematurely as I was trying to thrust into her.   She tried to push me off of her as I locked up and started squirting, and was furious that I had ejaculated into her vagina.  She said she could feel me ejaculating.  She got up and douched.  I was too embarrassed to speak more than an apology.  I helped pay for her “morning after” pill and discovered that she had disclosed the whole evening, including my premature ejaculation, and condom mishap, to her friends.
As a freshman in college I encountered a very attractive university student who seemed to be attracted to me. When I stripped, she stared at my micropenis, giggled, and put her hand to her mouth, muttering simply "OK" in a tone that suggested she was taken aback. When it came to actually performing, first I found that the condom wouldn’t stay on, but more frustratingly, my micropenis kept falling out every time I tried to penetrate her. She actually asked the traditional joke question, "Is it in?" mistaking my penis for my finger.  I wanted to die. It was clear that she was getting nothing out of the experience. I genuinely tried my best to make her happy via oral sex, but she didn't orgasm or enjoy that either.   I suspect her encounter with my penis through a wet blanket over the whole experience. When at last I finally thought I was making her content, she suddenly huffed in an annoyed way and got up, saying she needed to use the restroom. And that was the end of it.
I can only imagine the level of disappointment and frustration she must have felt. It must have been a horrendous experience for her.
Tumblr media
I decided after that to become a master of cunnilingus so that any future women I encountered would be satisfied, if not by my penis, then my oral skills would more than make up for it.  And I did master the art.
While in graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin, I met and married a girl.  We had engaged in some sexual activity before our marriage, so she was aware of my micropenis.  However our marriage was short lived when I discovered she had been having sex with my then best friend.  When I confronted her with her lack of fidelity, she blamed my shortcomings as a lover and told me that my micropenis disgusted her.
Since that time I have mainly had sexual experiences with gay men, though I had a threesome with a woman that went very well.
Aside from personal experiences, the media doesn’t help my self-esteem either.  Men with small penis are an ongoing source of amusement in TV shows and movies.  I noticed that penis shaming was mostly reserved for villains and comic sidekicks who were never taken seriously.  There are more TV shows with “little dick jokes” than shows that don’t have them.   No shows make fun of women’s breast size, but targeting men with small penises as a source of humor seems to be socially acceptable.  All that tells me that the writers don’t really care if men with small penises are offended or hurt.
The way the media treats the body-shaming of men compared to the body-shaming of women is wildly different. When Donald Trump makes questionable comments about the looks of women, he rightly causes outrage. Lists and videos decrying his sexist remarks have gone viral. Yet when a naked model of Trump with a micropenis was displayed in public in New York City, it was treated like a punch line rather than an attack. Some publications even called it a wonderful piece of art. Hundreds of Americans now have selfies of them laughing at Trump and his micropenis. We defend Heidi Cruz and Megyn Kelly, but where are the people defending small penises?  I am no Trump supporter, but targeting him because of his small penis seems wrong.
Tumblr media
GUYS WITH MICROPENISES KNOW THEY ARE NOT WELL-ENDOWED, THEY DON’T NEED REMINDING OF IT.
From my experience (having read hundreds of articles, forum posts, videos, and having spoken to hundreds of men and women online), it feels safe to say that the overwhelming majority of sexual partners aren't thrilled about the prospect of sex with micropenises. And if we don’t accept that these views are likely the majority, then we are never going to challenge this blatant discrimination.
I would like to ask people to think about this: If you are attracted to somebody enough to ask them to bed, and if the guy is kind to you, is it fair to write him off based on size alone?
Tumblr media
So what do I plan to do about my love life?
Luckily I am bisexual and enjoy the company of men as well as women. I fear that straight men with the micropenis condition suffer worse shame than men in the gay community.  Let me be clear, a great many gay men are “size queens” and I have been rejected by more than a few gay men, but now that so many men can meet on line I have been able to meet men who actually “prefer” men with small dicks and so they are not surprised by what I have to offer when we meet.  Many of them enjoy SPH (Small Penis Humiliation), but in my life I have adapted to being the subject of humor and, in some cases, can even find that sexually arousing.
So the answer to that question is “nothing”. I try to focus my life on my work, my writing, working out, outdoors activities, sports, and other subjects that interest me. If I started to look for love, it would just make me feel down, and I already struggle with depression and anxiety secretly. I don’t need the humiliation and hurt that looking for love would bring me. Sure, everybody gets rejected, but usually for less hurtful reasons.  As a bottom, many men don’t care how well I am hung.  Instead they care about how I make them feel when they fuck me, and I have learned to be a power bottom.
Guys with micropenises know we are not well-endowed, we don’t need to be reminded of it. If I’m attracted to a sexual partner, then what they have in their pants doesn’t matter to me; I care more about what that partner has in his/her heart.  My extreme self-consciousness about my body makes me feel like everyone else's opinion must be right, that there is something wrong with my size. I just wish people could look past it, so I could too.  Because intellectually I know my size is just a variation.
I try to look at it this way.  Not everyone is attracted to red hair, or freckles, or blue eyes, or black skin, or hairy chests.   People are attracted to differing qualities.  As long as I can find some people who are interested in  the qualities I possess, and are also interested n me personally, than I am gratified.

Can you please write a fic where James is a rich, star footballer and Sirius comes in to work as his super hott personal bodyguard??? And then James starts crushing on him hard but Sirius is hesitant because he could lose his job over this!!!! Please please please write this... I am a biiiig fan of your work... God Bless❤️
"What? I don't need a bodyguard," James said. The very idea was preposterous.
Coach glared at him, but the rest of the team was slightly more reserved in staring him down. The whole administrative team was there, from the head coach to the team's PR representative. "There have been threats."
"So? I also got threatened when I was seventeen and nothing ever came of it."
The team manager jumped in then. "This isn't a schoolyard threat made because you stole someone's girlfriend. Or- whatever," he said, fumbling a little-- as he always did-- when he said something thoughtless and remembered that James was gay afterwards. That being said, James definitely had stolen some girlfriends at school because it was the best approximation he could get for what attraction to women was. "These are extremely conservative people who want you dead and aren't shy about showing they're serious," the team manager continued. "Even if they don't manage to kill you, they could permanently injure you, effectively ending your career. Is that what you want?"
James huffed, knowing that he was being a little petulant and not caring. "No," he admitted. If he'd been just talking to his mates, he never would've admitted it, but they'd all gotten together to sit him down and make sure he listened to them; they wouldn't have bothered if they weren't seriously concerned.
"Then get a goddamn bodyguard," Coach said. "It won't be forever-- just until these people realise they have better things to do with their time than harass a popular footballer."
"Fine." If James had known it would be this much trouble to come out, he wouldn't have done it. He'd just been thinking that he might like to date someone for real. He'd also thought about himself when he was younger and how he could've figured out that he fancied men before he was twenty sodding three if one of his favourite footie players had been gay (and out. He wasn't discounting the idea entirely just because they hadn't said anything.). "I don't know where to find one though."
"We've got a list of possibilities," someone else said, handing James a sheet of paper-- for the life of him, James couldn't remember what she did, but in his defense, he'd only met her once as an introduction and then seen her in passing at the past six years of holiday parties. On the paper was a list of agencies, their websites, and phone numbers to contact them. There wasn't any mention of price, but it's not like James was pressed for cash or anything. Hell, he'd already reached his lifetime savings amount and didn't really know what to do with the salary he was still getting. Might as well use some of it to stay safe and pacify his bosses.
*
James had weighed all his options and looked at all of the information he'd been given, and he still couldn't decide. He'd handed the list to Remus, and he'd picked one at random; James took his choice as a good decision and called the company up. They made everything so easy for him that he was beginning to think Remus had special choosing powers. From now on, James was going to run his decisions by Remus before doing anything.
And then he actually met his bodyguard. He couldn't decide if this was better than before, or worse. Either way, he didn't think asking Remus for advice would really be the way that he wanted for his life to go.
He was told that his bodyguard's name was Sirius, and they had a first meeting at the company to sort out a few details. If James was a smart person, he would've taken one look at Sirius and said, "Thanks but no thanks, can I get someone else?" But James wasn't smart. He was a dumbarse. A dumbarse that let his heart make decisions for him. Sirius was, in a word, gorgeous. He had a face that looked like it belonged on the cover of a magazine, and a smile that stopped James's breath in its tracks. He was sure that Sirius was good at his job, but James rather doubted his decision to accept him as a bodyguard. He wasn't going to be able to focus for shite.
James explained the situation to Sirius-- the boring stuff, about why he needed a bodyguard-- and he didn't blink at him being bent. Either he already knew that because he followed football, he didn't care, or he cared but was a very good actor. James imagined that there was a certain amount of acting as a bodyguard, but he'd also like to think that Sirius wouldn't have accepted if it bothered him.
James had been afraid that Sirius was going to walk slightly to the side and behind him and stay resolutely silent the whole time, but he carried a conversation alright as they walked to James's car. "I'm sure you get this all the time and you're annoyed with it, but why's your name Sirius?"
The look on Sirius's face showed that he was very much used to the question, even though he didn't look annoyed by it. "Named after the star in Canis Major. Being named after stars is sort of a family thing."
"Really?" James asked. He was instantly charmed. Sirius hadn't even put much effort into it, but James was head over heels after exchanging two words with him.
"Mmhmm. My brother's Regulus, my father and great-grandfather were both Orion, and I've got a cousin named Bellatrix."
"Wow. Your family must've been made fun of a lot when they were kids."
Sirius snorted, and James looked at him curiously.
"What?"
"I wouldn't call any of us... well-behaved children. Got in a lot of fights."
"Ah, and it led to you being a bodyguard?"
Sirius shrugged with an easygoing smirk. "Might as well do something you're good at, right?"
*
"It's total rubbish that they're putting McLaggen in before you," Sirius said one day after practice.
"Right?" Then he paused. Sirius hadn't been around long enough to be so certain of that. Which meant, "I knew you were a fan. Why didn't you say anything?"
"I didn't want to freak you out. You're dealing with enough right now that I didn't want for you to worry about your bodyguard fawning over you."
"Aww, you fawn over me?" James asked, unable to help a pleased smile.
"It's called knowing who the best is," Sirius said with a wink.
*
"You don't get along with your brother?" James asked. Personally, he didn't have any siblings, but from what he understood, those relationships were often complicated. Lily, for example, cared about her sister even though-- as far as James could tell-- she was kind of an irredeemable twat that didn't seem to like Lily at all.
Sirius shrugged. "He wants to like our parents, but now that he disagrees with them on everything, it's not easy. I keep telling him that his life would be easier if he stopped talking to them, but he feels all guilty about it." He rolled his eyes expressively. "I think he thinks that he owes them for them not being worse."
"You both should get new parents," James said. "I volunteer my own."
"I think you stop needing new parents when you're an adult."
"Words that can only be spoken by someone with shite parents. Maybe you don't need parents anymore, but if Regulus is still trying to connect with them, it means he needs someone. My parents are great. Mum will probably see him smile once and then demand he come to Saturday night dinners for the next ten years."
Sirius snickered.
"Oh, I'm not joking," James insisted. "Lily and I haven't been together since we were eighteen, and she still comes over for dinner when she can make it."
"Only you would be on such great terms with your ex that your parents would do that."
"Bold of you to assume my parents wouldn't have done it whether we were on good terms or not. They blood adore her, and that didn't stop because we weren't dating anymore. I swear, they love every single friend I let them meet. If I introduced them to your brother? He wouldn't make it out of that house without them knowing his favourite dessert. He wouldn't stand a chance."
"Maybe that's what he needs," Sirius said, sounding amused. "We'll have to set that up when this all blows over."
*
James's first problem with Sirius had been that he was so gorgeous James couldn't think for shite. His second problem with Sirius was that he was an attractive person all around, not just in his face. Honestly, who had decided that someone should get to be that pretty and also be that funny? It wasn't fair to the rest of humanity.
He'd never been shy, so he told Sirius that he fancied him shortly after figuring it out. Thinking a bloke was fit as hell was one thing. Actually fancying him was quite another. People were fit all the time, and James had never lost sleep over it. He knew he'd regret it if he sat around and pined after Sirius uselessly though.
He told Sirius, and Sirius looked at him for a second, then blinked. "Erm. James, I can't- I could get fired for dating a client."
"Right." That made sense. "I hadn't thought of that." He really hadn't thought about it, but who'd want to hire a bodyguard that had a history of hooking up with who they were protecting? Hell, the company could get looked into for solicitation if it happened often enough. If James had thought of that, he would've kept his mouth shut until the end of Sirius's employment with him. "Just... y'know, if you were interested, I'm probably not going to need a bodyguard for much longer." He'd checked back in with the admin team, and they'd said that by next year, he should be good. New information was popping up on people that James's despisers hated more, so they were starting to leave him alone. At least, that's what he'd gotten from the conversation even if it wasn't entirely accurate.
"I know," Sirius said with half a smile. "I was there for that conversation, remember?"
"I'd forgotten," James admitted, a little ashamed. He wasn't the best at paying attention to several things at once when he really cared about one of them more than the others. In that case, he ended up thinking about the one thing and trying desperately to pay attention to the rest. That day, he was pretty sure he'd been so focused on getting his life back to normal that he'd ignored Sirius, and even the talk about their upcoming game.
*
"Bloody hell," Sirius said, one arm around James as he half-carried, half-guided him down the street so they could catch a cab. "I signed up to be your bodyguard, not your designated driver." Despite his complaining, he didn't sound upset, more amused.
"You could be both," James said slowly, having to put more effort into his words than usual since he was sloshed. He preferred speaking Hindi when he was pissed; it was just easier than English. He didn't think Sirius knew Hindi though, and the only thing he wanted right now was to enjoy Sirius's company.
Sirius laughed. "Maybe so, but I preferred just doing one."
"Heeeey, you could do the partner thing soon."
"I don't remember mentioning a partner thing."
James licked his lips as he tried to remember what the phrase he'd first used was. "Designated driver. Only, instead of just dragging me to a car, we'd be getting sloshed together."
"That does sound more fun."
James was always talkative, but now that he was sloshed, he wasn't stopping. He really liked Sirius. He liked him for lots of reasons, but right now he liked that Sirius was encouraging him. He wasn't getting mad at James for continuing to talk all through the cab ride, or as he helped him up the stairs to his flat. "You're so wonderful," James mumbled.
"Thanks," Sirius said with a laugh. He fished around James's pockets for his keys. James turned and rested his head on Sirius's shoulder, which did make it easier, but somehow he thought that wasn't what James had had in mind.
"You're so pretty," he said, turning his face into Sirius's neck.
"Thanks," he said again. "It's nice to be appreciated."
"In all my life, I've never met someone that made me feel like you do," James said.
"I don't know what you just said, but I'm going to assume it was complimentary."
James nodded. He kissed Sirius's neck because it was there. "The prettiest damn thing I've ever seen."
Sirius swallowed thickly. He didn't need to understand the language to know that whatever James said was something he would appreciate. The kiss sent tingles down his spine, and James's mouth was still resting close enough to him that Sirius could feel his breath hot against his skin. "As much as we would enjoy that, I thought we agreed to wait."
"You're right. You're just so pretty," he whined. "It's really not fair. You should try to be less pretty; it would make my life easier."
"You can live with it," Sirius said. He finally found the keys and put it in the door for him. He unlocked it and pushed the door open. James looked pretty comfy where he was, and it made shuffling him inside his flat a bit harder than getting him here had been. "C'mon mate, you've got to get in bed."
"But you're not there," James said, sounding awfully petulant about it.
Sirius chuckled. "No, but you'll get to sleep just fine without it."
"That's what you think."
"Love, you're drunk enough that you'll definitely pass out before the night's through."
"Aww, you called me 'love'. No one's ever done that before."
"Really?"
James nodded again, but since he wasn't leaning on Sirius as heavily this time, he swayed a little. Sirius was still right next to him though, so he was able to keep him from falling over. "My last boyfriend called me 'babe' but I sort of hated it."
"You do seem like you'd prefer the sweeter pet names. Sweetheart, things like that."
"Feel free to call me sweetheart as much as you want."
"I think I will. After I stop working on protecting you, that is. We've still got to wait, remember?"
"What I remember is issuing an invitation that never got an answer."
"I assumed you knew my answer. Or was I not obvious enough about my interest?" Sirius asked quietly.
"I would say that subtlety passes me by," James said. "But I got it now, thanks. You sure I can't convince you to stay?"
"Not while I'm working for you, and definitely not while you're sloshed." Sirius brought him to his room and took off his shoes when he collapsed back on the bed. "If you want to get undressed more, you're going to have to do it yourself, sweetheart," he said, then kissed James's forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow."
*
The day for James to no longer need a bodyguard felt like it took forever, but he could grudgingly admit that it had been a good idea. None of it had been serious, but he was told-- by Sirius-- that that's because having a bodyguard was often a large deterrent. In his time as James's bodyguard, Sirius successfully intimidated several people and got physical with one. James would be lying if he said that it hadn't been hot to watch, but he also wasn't going to say that out loud-- it made him feel like he was the heroine in a teen adventure book.
"So, do I have to take you on a date before I get to kiss you?" James asked.
"I wouldn't want you to think I'm easy," Sirius replied with a wink.
"You like curry? I know a good place."
Sirius made a face. "I only like it from one restaurant, and it's all the way up in Wales."
"Wait," James said slowly, a smile creeping across his face, "are you talking about Andi's?"
"Yes, you know it?"
"Bloody love it. I can't make the trip as much as I want, but if you're willing, we can definitely go up there."
"I can think of worse things than spending time with you on the way to the best curry in the UK," Sirius said.
*
James rented a car because it was easier than taking a cab that far, and it was definitely more private than a train-- which would only be able to take them part of the way anyhow. He wanted for them to be alone anyways, so that they could catch up on all the flirting they'd missed. Not to say that there had been a drought of flirting while Sirius was his bodyguard, but after they agreed to date when his contract was up, they'd tried to tone it down.
They didn't have to worry about that anymore.
The drive was okay, dinner was great, and Sirius snogged him for a bit after they got back in the car but before they drove back to London.
"How the hell do you feel even better than you look?" James whispered, stealing another kiss.
Sirius chuckled. "I was about to ask you the same question, love."

Fucking Friends (Rose Lavelle x G!P Reader)
Tumblr media
Smut.
“Mal, does Y/n have to be there?” Rose asked as she helped her friend arrange a party. “It’ll be a bit weird having her at the USWNT party.”
“She’s one of my best friends and she can’t go back to England. I don’t want her to be all alone, she’s had a rough time since I went to Sky Blue,” Mal said and Rose sighed.
Y/n Y/l/n was one of the most talented young players on England’s national team, however, she was also an arrogant asshole. Rose and most of the Spirit weren’t fond of the British girl. However, Mal had been one of the few people on the team that had completely fallen for her charm. No matter what Y/n did, Mal would remind Rose that Y/n went through a lot to get where she was, but nobody knew that Y/n had actually been through. It frustrated Rose to no end, but Mal always said it wasn’t her place to say.
“Fine, but you have to deal with whatever fight breaks out,” Rose said and Mal nodded. Mal put Y/n as one of her guests and then handed in her guest list. Rose had been looking forward to the party at the end of the week, but now she was starting to dread it. Especially since Y/n had been more of an asshole than usual and flown in early to hang out with Mal.
“Hey Rosie,” Y/n said and Rose grumbled as she looked up at the taller British girl.
“Don’t call me that,” Rose said and Y/n just laughed. Rose wouldn’t have been so annoyed with Y/n if maybe she wasn’t so arrogant. Some of her arrogance was rightly there, but the majority of it was not. Yes, Y/n was hot, talented, well-off financially, and seemed to be pretty popular online with the fans.
“All my friends get nicknames,” Y/n said and Rose scoffed.
“We are not fucking friends and you know it,” Rose hissed and Y/n put her hands up in mock surrender.
“I thought we were great friends Rosie,” Y/n said and Rose shoved past Y/n. The two of them didn’t talk to each other until the party, when Rose couldn’t get away from the Brit.
“Are you stalking me or something?” Rose asked Y/n. Rose had stepped outside for a breather and of course, Y/n had been sitting outside with a beer.
“No, just chilling,” Y/n said and Rose rolled her eyes. “So, when are we getting out of here?”
“We’re not getting out of here,” Rose said and Y/n pouted. “Why would I leave with you?”
“Sex obviously,” Y/n said and Rose looked up at her, shocked. “Come on, you obviously need it. You’ve been so tense lately, mainly around me, so obviously you wanna fuck me. I’ll be gentle, don’t worry.”
“Disgusting!” Rose shouted at you. She was angry, both at Y/n and herself for proving Y/n right.
“You’re hot when you’re angry,” Y/n said and Rose groaned.
“Shut up!” Rose screamed at her. Y/n let Rose throw her little fit, and then she pushed herself off the wall and went back inside. Rose stayed away from Y/n and had planned on things staying that way, but then she saw Y/n and Mal grinding on each other. Rose grumbled and pulled you away from Mal and the party in general. The two of you found yourself back at her hotel. “Not a word of this to anybody else.”
“I don’t go around parading my sexual escapades with everybody. I’m quite reserved,” Y/n said and Rose scoffed. She could think of at least ten different times when you’d spoken about fucking girls at practice. There wasn’t a lot of desire for foreplay or a warm up, so you got straight to work. Y/n took a condom out of her jacket pocket while Rose undressed herself. Y/n made quick work of her clothes.
“Have you thought of this before?” Rose asked, noticing that Y/n was pretty hard.
“Maybe,” Y/n said with a coy smirk. Rose felt her body heat up a bit at the smirk and look in Y/n’s eyes. Y/n pinned Rose down against the mattress. “But you’ll never know. However, I think we both know that you’ve thought about me before.”
“Shut up and fuck me. I’m not here for conversation,” Rose said and Y/n smirked. Not one to waste time, Y/n did what Rose told her to. Rose moaned as Y/n entered her, slowly at first. Rose didn’t get a chance to adjust to Y/n’s size inside of her though because the Brit was not intent on taking things slowly. Rose wanted to be fucked, so Y/n fucked her. Rose clung to Y/n as she moaned and was brought closer and closer to an orgasm with every thrust. A part of Rose would be angry with Y/n for making her cum as easily as she did.
Y/n kept going after she had made Rose cum once, not quite finished herself. Rose’s body was in a bit of an overdrive with the continued pleasure. As Y/n began to stop for her own orgasm, Rose hit her second. Y/n pulled out when she was finished and gathered her things before she swiftly made her way out of the hotel room. Maybe they’d talk about this when both of them were back in DC again or maybe they wouldn’t. Y/n did know that Rose would probably be back again though.

From that prompt list, number 33? With any player? Could be fun 😄
of course!!! 💛 i chose dunner because the little shit has crept back into my heart (like he ever left lmfao)
requests from this list are open!!!
The thing about Sammy Blais was that he always had tricks up his sleeve. Whether it was on the ice or in his own personal life, he always had a way to get what he wanted. It was his charm, that subtle French accent, his carefree attitude. Vince envied it and admired it, and that’s one of the many reasons he moved in with him. He was hoping Sammy’s personality would rub off on him.
Vince was quieter, though the persona he shared on his streams was a bit less reserved. He kept to himself, kept his head low, and stayed out of trouble. When they won the Stanley Cup last season, he flourished in the spotlight and even hosted a party in Toronto to celebrate. But at the end of the night, he was happy to be alone in his apartment.
And then came you.
Colton started bringing you around the next season. You’d just moved to St. Louis for a job opportunity, and Colton was a childhood friend who offered his couch in the Lou to everyone and anyone when he was visiting home during the off season. So when you got the job offer, he was the first person you called.
He insisted that you come out with the team and their girlfriends once you were settled because, and I quote, “I can’t be your only friend around here. We’ll get bored of each other too quickly.”
They were all so kind, embracing you like you were one of their own simply because you were Colton’s friend. But, of the entire team and significant others, Vince and Sammy were your favorites. They took to you immediately, especially Vince.
It was love at first sight, at least that’s what Sammy claims. Every time he says it, though, Vince gives him a swift kick to the shin. He just thought you were pretty, and funny, and smart. He loved the way you cared about the people around you. He loved that you didn’t mind spending hours on his couch on the weekends. He loved that if he didn’t feel like going out, he could count on you to stay in with him.
To Vince, you were perfect. But you also seemed incredibly unattainable.
Everyone in your friend group knew he had a crush, except you. He wondered if maybe you did and you were just hoping it would never come up so that you wouldn’t have to turn him down. It kept him from making any moves, or really admitting any feelings.
It made Sammy crazy because all he ever heard was Vince moping and whining and pining after you. Yet, he wasn’t doing anything about it. So, he came up with a plan.
“This is the stupidest plan I’ve ever heard,” Vince grumbled to Sammy as they stepped into Colton’s living room. His eyes had fallen on you almost immediately. Sammy chuckled under his breath, turning to face his roommate with a raised brow. “When do we start?”
“Right now.”
As if on cue, you sidled up beside Sammy. Your arm slipped around his waist easily, leaning into his embrace as he pulled you into his side.
“I was wondering when you two would show up,” you greeted. You reached out one hand and tugged at the hem of Vince’s t-shirt, billowing around his body as if it was a size too big. “Fashionably late as always, Dunner.”
“Dunner had a date,” Sammy informed you, leaning to whisper in your ear. You felt the blood drain from your face. Vince’s cheeks lit up pink. “Our boy’s growing up!”
“Seems like it,” you murmured. “I’m going to go find Colton.”
Vince watched as you slipped away and out of his sight, then turned back to Sammy with a desperate look.
“That went well,” he said sarcastically.
“It went exactly how it was supposed to go,” Sammy pointed out. “She was devastated.”
“Devastated is a stretch.”
“Listen to me,” Sammy continued. “Give her a wide berth. Let her overthink a little bit. I promise that by the end of the night she’ll be bubbling over with jealousy.”
Vince did as he was told. Sammy seemed too confident in himself for Vince not to listen. He spent the night mingling with his teammates and a few of the single girls at the party for good measure. Every once in a while, he’d peek around the room for you just to make sure you hadn’t left.
And then he met your eyes and you nodded towards the balcony.
“So, who’s the lucky girl?” you asked once the door had been shut. The music drowned out behind it as you leaned against the ledge and gazed at him with a critical eye.
“What girl?” he asked, genuinely confused by the question for a moment. You laughed into your drink and he realized. “Oh, yeah, my date.”
“Must not have been very memorable,” you teased. He chuckled softly, though a lengthy pause followed it. You grew impatient as you waited for him to elaborate about the mystery girl or the date or really anything about his personal life.
The idea of Vince being with someone that wasn’t you didn’t sit right.
“Can I be honest?” he asked, turning to lean his elbow against the ledge of the balcony. You nodded, turning to face him. “There was no date, and there is no girl. It was just one of Sammy’s stupid ideas. You know the type.”
“You know Sammy’s plans never go well.”
“I don’t know,” he murmured. A grin spread across his face. “This one is working pretty well. You don’t seem super happy that I had a fake date earlier tonight.”
“Obviously I wasn’t happy,” she muttered. “You tell me everything.”
“That’s why you weren’t happy?” he asked. He straightened up, feeling a bit more confident as you seemed to waver. “Not because you thought I was on date with someone other than you?”
“Jesus, Vince,” you grumbled. Shaking hands came up to brush the hair out of your face. You turned and gazed out at the city. He sighed heavily before taking a step forward and nudging your hip so that you’d look up at him.
“Come on, YN,” he cooed. “I can’t get a good read on you. I’ve been too scared to actually ask if you have feelings for me because I don’t wanna freak you out or ruin our friendship. Sammy talked me into this stupid idea and--”
You cut him off with a kiss. It was soft and slow, and while his hands remained against the ledge of the balcony, yours curled around the back of his neck and into his hair. When you pulled away, his eyes were still closed and his lips were parted. They fluttered open to gaze at you.
“Can you get a good read on me now?”
“I think you might have to kiss me again.”

(未定事件簿) 夏彦 SR [忆中人] [Tears of Themis] Xia Yan SR [Reminiscent Person] Card Story Translations (Part 1)
*Tears of Themis Masterlist *Spoiler free: Translations will remain under cut *Xia Yan’s personal tag will be #Tears of a PI. Personal master-list under construction!
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / SMS
Tumblr media
Location: Shopping Mall
MC: This is the place?
Xia Yan: That's right, this is it, based on the address.
It was a weekend and Xia Yan and I came to an Experience Hall of Tacit Understanding that had recently gained much popularity.
The owner of this Store had specially crafted and designed various questions and levels to test all players that participated in the game. Despite the fact that there were best friends and siblings alike coming to challenge this game, couples still made up a larger portion of the players here.
Speaking of which, the only reason why Xia Yan and I even came here to have fun was because of the commission that he had received last week.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Home
I had only just returned home after a busy day when my phone suddenly vibrated to life.
I picked up my phone, seeing that it was Xia Yan calling.
Tumblr media
MC: Hello? Xia Yan? What's up?
Xia Yan: (Y/n), ever heard of the Experience Hall of Tacit Understanding?
MC: The Experience Hall of Tacit Understanding?
Xia Yan: ...They call it an experience, but it's actually something that two people have to get through together.
Xia Yan: You'll have to play some games that test your Tacit Understanding on each and every level or answer a difficult question. You must past the test to proceed onto the next level.
MC: I seem to recall my colleagues talking about something like this...but I've never been there before.
MC: Why are you suddenly asking me this?
Xia Yan's voice paused on the other end of the line.
Xia Yan: Oh...I just accepted a job, and they want me to investigate this particular Store.
Tumblr media
MC: Is there something wrong with this Store?
Xia Yan: No, it's just that the Client's girlfriend really wants to try this Store out, but eight or nine out of ten of the friends around him had broken up with their significant others after having participated in it.
Xia Yan: He's afraid of being used by his girlfriend and not acting up to standard when playing, so he sent me to investigate just what exactly they're going to be playing inside that Store.
MC: But...why not just ask his friends about it then?
Xia Yan: Of course, he did, but the Store had recently changed their running theme and even increased the difficulty.
Xia Yan: He even concealed the fact from his girlfriend that he had gone off and played through it once with a friend of his...acting as a couple...
Xia Yan: But they only managed to survive the first round due to insufficient Tacit Understanding…
Having listened up till this point, I could already guess what Xia Yan was pretty much trying to get at.
MC: So, you're saying that you want me to investigate this Experience Hall with you, right?
Xia Yan: Yes. I can't think of anyone else who'd be my partner besides you.
Xia Yan: Plus, you're also the one who understands me best.
I couldn't do anything to help my slightly reddening face as his gentle voice reached my ears through the phone.
Xia Yan: Unless you're not confident in getting across the hurdles?
Tumblr media
MC: Why would I be? We'll definitely clear it all without a hitch!
MC: Don't forget that I'm still your Watson after all!
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Looking at how eager Xia Yan was, I smiled and asked him.
MC: I thought you said that you didn't accept commissions that had anything to do with relationships?
He jolted, his expression looking a little unnatural on his face.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: …Actually, this Client's a relative of a friend of mine, so this can be considered as me doing him a favor.
Xia Yan: And what he asked me to investigate was the content of this game...so strictly speaking, it's not really considered as a commission related to relationships.
MC: This job doesn't look like it has space for development, but yet you're still so actively invested in it...
Tumblr media
MC: Are you sure it's really not because you personally want to play this game too?
Xia Yan: How can that be…? I've always been this way towards each and every commission...
Looking at my seemingly smiling, yet un-smiling face, Xia Yan stammered as he tried to come up with an excuse.
But in the end, he only sighed helplessly.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Alright. You've seen through me… I only agreed to take this job on because I was curious about it.
Xia Yan: But curiosity isn't all there is to it, I also thought that...
MC: What?
His voice gradually faded off and I didn't manage to catch whatever he had said after.
Xia Yan: Nothing, I was just distracted earlier.
Xia Yan: Oh yes, take this. I've installed a miniature camera on it.
I lowered my head, spotting a delicate and exquisite looking bracelet lying on in his hand.
MC: How exquisite. It doesn't look at all like the piece of "Detective Equipment" it is.
Xia Yan laughed, clasping the bracelet onto my wrist.
Xia Yan: Do you like it? You can keep it if you do since it was something made for you to begin with.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Experience Hall's Front Desk
We walked into the shop entrance after having prepared ourselves, the Front Desk Clerk coming up to greet us with a smile.
Tumblr media
Front Desk Clerk: Good afternoon to the both of you; do you have a reservation?
Xia Yan: Yes, my surname's Xia.
Xia Yan whipped out his phone and showed the Clerk his reservation details.
Front Desk Clerk: Mr. Xia, yes? … Here it is. You've made a booking for the Couple's Package with the theme of the "Cursed Castle".
Since this Establishment would slightly adjust the content of the game in regard to the relationship between players, we decided to register as a couple.
Despite knowing that this was all just for work, my heart still skipped a beat when I heard the words "couple".
Discreetly peeking at him, I realized that his ears were a little red.
Xia Yan: Yes… That's right.
Front Desk Clerk: Alright then. Welcome, both of you. Please follow me to get yourself registered.
Front Desk Clerk: You cannot use your mobile phones during the game, so the both of you should go store yours.
Front Desk Clerk: The both of you can go wait in the Rest Area for a bit. Another member of the staff will come look for you later.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Rest Area
We both walked to the Rest Area and managed to coincidentally catch sight of a couple leaving the Challenge House.
They both had their heads bowed and didn't seem to be in a very good mood, leaving the Experience Hall one after another in silence.
MC: Looks like they weren't successful in clearing it.
Xia Yan: That doesn't seem to be all… looks like they had a fight too.
Tumblr media
MC: I actually thought nothing of this at first, but now that I've seen them like that...
MC: I'm actually starting to get a little nervous...
Suddenly, the piercing sound of a quarrel cut me off.
Female Player: You even forgot the place where we had our first date!?
Male Player: I'm sorry, okay? It was so long ago; I really couldn't remember.
Female Player: Long? You think of even such a short period of time long!? Do you think there's no meaning to being together with me!?
Male Player: Can you stop making a big fuss out of nothing!? Didn't you also forget what my favorite ballgame team was!?
Female Player: I don't usually watch ball games. Plus, you were the one who used up all the hints! Yet you still dare to talk back to me!?
Under the watchful and surprised eyes of the people around them, she gave her boyfriend a shove before leaving, never once looking back.
The guy stood there stunned for a moment before walking out of the door, cursing and swearing.
Tumblr media
MC: ……
Xia Yan: ……
MC: Looks like the percentage of a successful clear isn't very high...
Staff Member: Both of you, it'll be your turn very soon. Come with me to fill out a questionnaire first.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Under the guidance of the Staff Member, Xia Yan and I were brought to separate areas to fill in our own questionnaires.
The questions were simple enough and included things like my habits, likes, dislikes, memorable things, etc.; probably information to be used in the game.
I raised my hand to tuck my hair back behind my ear, turning the lens of the hidden camera on the bracelet I wore to face the questionnaire, snapping images of the questions as I filled them in.
After answering the questionnaires, Xia Yan and I were both led away by the Staff Member, officially entering the doors of the “Challenge House”.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Inside the Challenge House
Behind the door was a dark room that resembled an abandoned residence, it's walls covered in "cobwebs".
???: Welcome to the “Cursed Castle” experience, I am the Gamemaster of this place.
Tumblr media
Gamemaster: Please remember every word I say as you carefully explore the secrets of this Castle.
Another Staff Member appeared beside us. He was dressed in an impeccable black swallowtail coat, elegant and graceful.
Gamemaster: You will now be faced with the first stage of the challenge—— Silent Tacit Understanding. There are three segments to this level…
Gamemaster: You'll have 15 minutes for each segment, and you'll have to answer 10 questions correctly to proceed onto the next segment. I will explain the requirements of each segment in detail to you before the game begins.
Gamemaster: The both of you will only have 3 chances to ask for help throughout this entire game, so please use it wisely.
Gamemaster: That should be all the rules. Do either of you have any questions?
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: No problems on my end. How 'bout you? You ready for this?
He looked at me, all smiles.
MC: Of course I am! Let's get this game started!
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Inside the Challenge House
The Tacit Understanding Challenge began after the Gamemaster had explained all the rules.
The first segment was a game of draw and guess. Xia Yan drew, and I guessed
Xia Yan wasn't good at it by any means, for the horse he had drawn back in Art Class had been recognized as a pig by our fellow classmate… But we'd taken to sending each other Holiday Greeting Cards on a yearly basis ever since we were kids, and there would always be one of his "masterpieces" drawn on it…
So that's why it's easier for me to recognize what exactly he was drawing.
Gamemaster: You have both successfully completed the challenge in 6 minutes.
Xia Yan: This sort of difficulty won't pose a problem for us at all.
Gamemaster: This segment's just a warmup, so don't underestimate it.
Xia Yan: Then, what are we going to be playing in the second segment? Please don't tell me Charades...
Gamemaster: Mngh… That's right. The lady will be the one making the gestures and this time, Mister, you'll be the one guessing.
I took a slip of paper from the wooden box that the Gamemaster held.
MC: (Graceful and slender figure? How very coincidental…)
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Hall Party
Xia Yan and I used to often play Charades with each other in the past.
The first time we played this game was back we were both still in high school, at a party
Tumblr media
MC: (Graceful and slender figure…? Just how am I supposed to act this out?)
MC: Xia Yan, it's an idiom. Four words.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: I know this, I know! It's "To dance for joy"!
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Ah? That's "To act in confusion!"
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Uh... “To make threatening gestures”...?
Tumblr media
MC: ……
Xia Yan had his back turned to the projector screen and was thus unable to see the answer being projected onto it, but all our other classmates could…
At this point, everyone was already breathless with laughter.
Classmate A: (Y/n), he thinks you've gone bonkers!
Classmate B: Hahahaha! To make threatening gestures…? Pft— heh, it's getting more outrageous by the minute...hahaha…!!
My face flushed in front of the entire class, and I ended up darting out of the door to make my speedy escape.
Xia Yan freaked out, immediately running out after me to apologize, even reciting "graceful and slender figure" ten times over.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
I couldn't help but to smile as I recalled that one embarrassing experience of ours.
Xia Yan became a little suspicious when he saw how I was barely able to hold back my smile.
I winked at him before imitating my actions from back then, awkwardly twisting my body twice.
Xia Yan, who was at the side, blurted out the four words:
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Graceful and slender figure!
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
After successfully answering a couple more questions in succession, Xia Yan and I eventually reached the last segment of the first stage.
The Staff Member led us to a table where various food items were laid out along with some exquisite ornaments.
Gamemaster: In this segment, one of you will have to guess the word whilst blindfolded.
Gamemaster: The answer spans across books, people, film and television works, and more, but they can all be derived through inference all the same.
Gamemaster: Now, I will blindfold this man here and give the lady the answer to this puzzle.
The Gamemaster turned to face me.
Gamemaster: You can choose to use anything in this room here that's related to the answer to convey what it is to this man here.
MC: But he's blindfolded, so just how will I...
MC: I get it now! He has to guess what I'm holding before he can try making inferences as to what the answer to the puzzle really is!
Gamemaster: Correct.
Xia Yan: Can she describe how it looks to me?
Gamemaster: No. Please keep in mind that you cannot use words to hint the other.
After saying so, the Gamemaster pulled out a black handkerchief and handed it to me.
I took the handkerchief from him, tying it securely around Xia Yan's head.
MC: Is it too tight? Is it constricting your eyes?
Xia Yan's soft hair slid between my fingers, a faint fragrance wafting from his locks.
Xia Yan: Nope, just nice.
I took his hand and helped him seat himself onto the chair.
MC: I'll go look for something so stay put and wait for me!
I opened up the small slip of paper that the Gamemaster handed me. The answer to the puzzle was none other than "Sherlock Holmes".
MC: It's the name of a book… Just what can be related to the name of this book?
I looked to the lavishly arranged assortment of food on the table, feeling a little at a loss. Suddenly, peanut candy entered my field of vision.
Tumblr media
MC: (Peanut… Watson…)
MC: (I'm sure he'll be able to guess the wordplay if I use this.)
Picking up the peanut sweet, I walked back to him.
Tumblr media
MC: Xia Yan… Open your mouth.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Xia Yan was sitting quietly on the chair, startling slightly upon hearing my voice. But he opened his mouth slightly without a moment's hesitation.
This was the first time that I've ever really looked at his lips. They were thin, but were absolutely soft-looking.
MC: ……
Xia Yan: What's wrong?
His voice of suspicion snapped me out of my thoughts, and I hurriedly moved to place the peanut sweet into his mouth.
His lips were as warm and soft as I'd imagined, not doing anything to help my reddening face. Feeling the sensation of food between his lips and teeth, Xia Yan instinctively dove at it with his mouth.
My fingers registered the fleeting feeling of something warm and wet, which was probably his tongue.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
MC: Ah…
I jerked backwards, as if I had just received an electric shock, causing the peanut candy to also slip from his mouth, following my abrupt retreat.
MC: S-Sorry…! I'll go get another!
Xia Yan: No worries… I'll wait for you...
His voice turned a little hoarse.
I turned around, only to see the Gamemaster watching the both of us with interest.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
(CG)
I darted out of his line of side and hurriedly went to fetch another piece of candy.
Tumblr media
⊳  Select blindfold
Xia Yan's eyes were tightly bound by the pitch-black cloth. Under the dim light, I could see the hints of a blush dusting his features.
MC: (I really wanna run my hands through his hair…)
MC: (Wait, no! What did I just think of!?)
Tumblr media
⊳ Select collarbone
Standing in front of him, I could see his collarbone peeking out of his shirt upon lowering my head.
MC: (Not bad at all.)
MC: (Why oh why am I focusing weirder and weirder things now…?)
Tumblr media
⊳  Select hand
Xia Yan: You're… you're back?
MC: Yup… Now open up.
Looking at his slightly parted lips, that soft and wet feeling that I had experienced earlier floated back into the surface of my mind yet again.
I took in a deep breath, stuffing the peanut candy into his mouth.
It was super quiet within the room, with only the sound of Xia Yan’s chewing of the candy and the rapid yet fierce beating of my heart.
Gamemaster: The answer is a title of a novelized series; you may begin guessing now.
Swallowing the sweet in his mouth, Xia Yan grinned.
Xia Yan: I know. The answer is "Sherlock Holmes".
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Gamemaster: That is the correct answer.
He religiously glanced at the watch sitting stop his wrist, sighing.
Xia Yan only smiled cheekily at him upon hearing the grudgeful undertone of his voice.
Xia Yan: That sort of question ain't too hard for me!
Gamemaster: You still have to answer 9 more questions correctly, so don’t let your guard down..
After saying so, the Gamemaster placed another one of the puzzle answers into the palm of my hand.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
This segment was harder compared to the previous two, and it was very hard to find the corresponding items of relation for certain answers.
Fortunately, all answers could be attained through inference, so Xia Yan and I managed to get through it smoothly.
Gamemaster: Congratulations to the two of you for having passed stage one.
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: See? Didn’t I tell you? It’s no problem for us at all!
Gamemaster: I have a question for this lady here. Do you like deducing things? You seem to have a really good grasp on it.
Gamemaster: But… you didn’t seem to have written it in the questionnaire.
The Staff Member who’d been in charge of guiding us looked at me in puzzlement.
Xia Yan: So, you’re really picking things that I like, but she doesn’t understand.
Xia Yan: Only that you never thought that she’d have an excellent grasp of it either.
Gamemaster: Not purposely. But it’s a test of Tacit Understanding, so it’ll obviously be tailored to both your individual preferences, of course.
Gamemaster: The first two segments aren’t hard, but most players usually choose to use up one of their chances of asking for help on the last segment...
Gamemaster: So, I really wasn’t expecting the two of you to get through this so smoothly.
MC: I actually like it quite a bit, but my understanding of this is mainly influenced by him, for better or for worse.
MC: Especially since said someone has been a big fan of detectives ever since he was a kid!
Tumblr media
MC: (Not to mention that he’s even working as a part-time detective. And oh yes, his real job’s a secret agent...)
But I could only voice all these complaints inwardly to myself.
I looked at Xia Yan and gave him a wink, to which he only smiled helplessly at.
Gamemaster: But the two of you shouldn’t be taking this lightly either; there are much bigger and harder puzzles waiting for the both of you.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Xia Yan and I progressed through a couple of stages which were mostly just testing our ability to work together.
He was much more highly skilled than ordinary folk, so things that were supposedly hard like retrieving something from a high place or even the laser array, weren’t even worth mentioning to someone like him.
We soon found ourselves arriving at the second last segment of it all.
☆⋅⋆…⋅─────────── ⋆⋅✾⋅⋆ ───────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Tumblr media
Location: Outside the Maze
Gamemaster: This stage is called the “Memory Maze”; you both have to answer questions while trying to find your way out of the maze.
Gamemaster: The both of you will be separated in this stage and will be entering the maze from different entry points. You have to find each other within the maze and make it out together for you to successfully pass the stage.
Gamemaster: You have to answer the questions on your own. Take note, you’ll lose the moment you ask your partner for help!
Xia Yan: There are two of us, who are you going to follow this time round?
Gamemaster: I won’t be following any of you. The two of you will have to explore the rest of the way yourself.
Xia Yan: How would we be able to tell how much time has passed without you around?
Gamemaster: You guys will have a total of 20 minutes and reminders will sound when you have 10, 5- and 1-minute left respectively.
MC: Let’s see each other in a while then, Xia Yan!
Tumblr media
Xia Yan: Don’t worry, I’ll definitely find you in a jiffy.
Heading in the direction where the Staff Member pointed out, Xia Yan and I split up at the fork in the corridor, entering the maze from two separate entrances, each on one side of the room.

The Survivors Game...
Tumblr media
Mrs Kirigiri?
Tumblr media
Ah, Shuichi. And Kaede too.
Tumblr media
Hey, it’s you guys again!
Tumblr media
Nice to see you again Yuta...and I’m sorry that I have to ask this of you but...
Tumblr media
Could you maybe...leave the room for a second?
Tumblr media
Huh? Why?
Tumblr media
It’s important...and private.
Tumblr media
Ah, I-I getcha...It’s probably some FF business that I’m not supposed to know about...
Tumblr media
Alright, but I’ll be right outside.
Tumblr media
Ok. Thank you.
*Yuta leaves to stand outside.
Tumblr media
What’s up guys?
Tumblr media
Indeed...What is the problem?
Tumblr media
We’re here for two reasons...For one thing, I wanted to report to you what happened recently...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s pretty much everything...
Tumblr media
Wow...
Tumblr media
Sounds like you’ve been going off having your own little adventures...
Tumblr media
Yeah...But I thought I’d tell you to let you know, Mikado Sannoji is no longer a threat...
Tumblr media
And as for our friend Keebo, he’s currently residing in the Branch labs, while Miu takes care of him.
Tumblr media
Make sure you take care of yourselves too...You still have some wounds from your fight with this Ouma person...
Tumblr media
I will Mrs Kirigiri...But that’s not all...Kaede had something to tell you.
Tumblr media
That’s right...
Tumblr media
Yes Kaede? I’m listening.
Tumblr media
I just need to tell you that...
Tumblr media
I’ve...pretty much recovered all of my memories...
Tumblr media
Ah, really?
Tumblr media
Wow! That’s great news!
Tumblr media
No, it’s not...Because...
Tumblr media
I...I remember WHY organization Zetsubou erased them in the first place...
Tumblr media
...?
Tumblr media
...And why is that?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
They’re planning something...something big...and I found out about it when I tried to escape their base...
Tumblr media
They caught me and wiped my memories...But now I’ve remembered what it was...And I think you should know...
Tumblr media
Don’t leave us in suspense girl. What is it?
Tumblr media
Hey, Byakuya, lighten up...
Tumblr media
Don’t you realize how important this sounds...Out with it!
Tumblr media
...I found...a list...
Tumblr media
A list of what?
Tumblr media
Supplies...and names...some of which seemed too familiar...
Tumblr media
A list of names? Who was on that list...?
Tumblr media
For starters...
Tumblr media
All 5 of you guys...
Tumblr media
Us?
Tumblr media
You mean...me, Byakuya, Kyoko, Hina and...
Tumblr media
Me?
Tumblr media
Yes...You too Shuichi...But there were others too...
Tumblr media
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu...Yasuhiro Hagakure...Toko Fukawa...Sonia Nevermind...Kazuichi Soda...Akane Owari...Maki Harukawa...Himiko Yumeno...Ryota Mitarai...and...
Tumblr media
There was one name on there I didn’t recognize...Does...
Tumblr media
Does anyone know who Kyosuke Munakata is?
Tumblr media
...!?
Tumblr media
Yes...w-we...we know him...
Tumblr media
And there were other things too...for example, a blueprint/landscape for an establishment...It...
Tumblr media
It seemed kind of similar to...the academy...
Tumblr media
The Academy of Ultimate Confinement, you mean...?
Tumblr media
Yeah, that...and...
Tumblr media
Well, they caught me before I could sort through anything...but...There was one more list...
Tumblr media
And what was that...?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Motives for murder...
Tumblr media
M-Motives...?!
Tumblr media
For murder!?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
I don’t know what to tell you...that’s just what I saw...
Tumblr media
And the “project” or whatever it was...it had a title too...They called it...
Tumblr media
Danganronpa: The Survivors Game...Shortened to Danganronpa: Survivor.
Tumblr media
Oh god...
Tumblr media
“Oh god” what?
Tumblr media
Organization Zetsubou...
Tumblr media
They’re planning another killing game...
Tumblr media
What!?
Tumblr media
Yes, that seems likely...Combining the 4 of us, as well as all the names Akamatsu just listed, that makes 16 of us in total...the standard number of players in every killing game so far, minus ours...
Tumblr media
Also, this establishment...it seems that will be the grounds to hold the game...
Tumblr media
And obviously...the motives for murder is a dead giveaway...
Tumblr media
But...The Survivors Game...What an interesting name...
Tumblr media
Given who’s actually on the participant list, it makes sense to me...
Tumblr media
It does? How?
Tumblr media
Shuichi...
Tumblr media
Yes?
Tumblr media
At the conclusion to the 53rd Killing Game, who escaped it with their lives, not including Tsumugi and Keebo...
Tumblr media
It was...Me, Maki and Himiko...
Tumblr media
All three of who were on that list...!?
Tumblr media
And that’s not all...
Tumblr media
The 4 of us, alongside Hiro and Toko, were the survivors of the first killing game...
Tumblr media
And Hajime, Akane, Fuyuhiko, Sonia and Kazuichi were the survivors of the second...
Tumblr media
And the final killing game between the foundation heads...We got out of that one alive too...the only other two people who did were Ryota and Munakata...
Tumblr media
What an interesting dilemma...Shirogane is trying to make another killing game, with the participants being the survivors of the previous ones...
Tumblr media
Then...that must be the reason she brought us to this world...
Tumblr media
But then...why bring the rest of our friends who died back, if they only need us alive?
Tumblr media
Kaede...Do you remember what was on that motive list?
Tumblr media
I only caught a glimpse of two things...the first was threatening the safety of friends and loved ones...
Tumblr media
Well, that answers that...I think?
Tumblr media
The second one I saw...confused me...
Tumblr media
What was it?
Tumblr media
The second motive had something to do with...using a superhuman army to kill hundreds of people?
Tumblr media
But...th-there’s no way Zetsubou have anything like that...
Tumblr media
...No, of course they don’t...Other than the Monokuma’s, but with tech nowadays, they’re barely a threat...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Not yet they don’t...
Tumblr media
Kyoko?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Kyoko, speak to me. What is it?
Tumblr media
...The last time the Kisaragi Foundation teamed up with our operatives, an interesting discovery was made...
Tumblr media
In the tower basement, Maki Harukawa, Kaito Momota and Mii-Yu discovered pods containing the deceased bodies of the reserve course students who committed suicide all those years ago...
Tumblr media
Yeah, their bodies were preserved in pods...
Tumblr media
Wait! Are you saying...!?
Tumblr media
The resurrection machines are powerful, but they have their limits...There’s a multitude of reserve course students, but reviving all of them is almost impossible...
Tumblr media
With the information that they took from us before, it’s likely Zetsubou already have enough materials to make at least one of their own, but just the one won’t create an army...
Tumblr media
However...There are other...inhumane ways...to create an army of dead people.
Tumblr media
So we’re talking a zombie apocalypse?
Tumblr media
The motive likely involves someone taking one life to save thousands more...
Tumblr media
That’s so messed up! These guys get more dastardly by the second!
Tumblr media
But...ok, so this isn’t me making fun on non-ultimate's or anything but...
Tumblr media
How exactly is making a zombie army of regular people a threat?
Tumblr media
They aren’t...And that’s what I’m curious about...We need to look deeper into this...
Tumblr media
Then perhaps may I make a suggestion?
Tumblr media
The Future Foundation needs to know about this immediately, and everyone must be on high alert.
Tumblr media
Our priorities right now are this: Locate and eliminate the rest of the Reserve Course pods and more importantly...
Tumblr media
Find that damn traitor...!
Tumblr media
I agree...
Tumblr media
Thanks Kaede...we really owe you for this...
Tumblr media
You’re welcome...Thank YOU for helping me with recovering my memories...
Tumblr media
Oh, and I feel you should know...
Tumblr media
Hajime’s Branch office has a spot open that no one would object to you taking.
Tumblr media
...Oh...I...
Tumblr media
...
*She glances at Shuichi, who smiles.
Tumblr media
I’ll take you up on that I suppose. Thanks.

15 Best Final Fantasy Characters
https://ift.tt/3rHgcZn
While the list of things that Final Fantasy has gifted the gaming world is much longer than the one we’re bringing you today, one of the most consistently incredible aspects of this legendary RPG franchise is the quality of its casts of characters.
Even if you’ve only played one or two Final Fantasy games in your lifetime (or perhaps even just absorbed elements of the series through its prominent place in gaming culture) you likely know and have strong feelings about at least one Final Fantasy character. No matter how fantastical these games get, their heart will always be found in the heroes, villains, and even NPCs that drive some of the greatest adventures in RPG history.
Which Final Fantasy character is the best of them all, though? That’s a question fans will never find a universally approved answer to, but I’m willing to be most personal shortlists include at least a few of these incredible characters that have become icons of this franchise, the genre, and gaming.
15. Bartz Klauser (Final Fantasy 5)
Many Final Fantasy protagonists are tortured souls burdened by destiny and circumstances. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that type of character (we’re actually going to honor a few of those tortured souls later in this list), but too much of that kind of personality can really wear you down.
That’s what makes Bartz Klauser such a breath of fresh air. As a young man just trying to honor his father’s dying wish to go out and explore the world, Bartz didn’t ask to get caught up in an epic battle or grand adventure. Yet, he handles the incredible events that befall him with positivity, humor, and constant support for his friends and allies.
14. Squall Leonhart (Final Fantasy 8)
There was a time when it felt like Squall’s place somewhere at the bottom of any list of Final Fantasy protagonists was all but reserved. There are still more than a few Final Fantasy fans who passionately hate him, and it’s easy to understand why. He’s angsty, he’s sometimes derivative of other characters, and he’s even sometimes cruel to people who should be his closest allies.
Yet, there’s just something about Squall. His looks and gunblade certainly make him memorable from a design perspective, but there’s also something to be said for how we get to watch Squall grow throughout Final Fantasy 8 in a way that few franchise protagonists get to grow across the course of their own adventures. Squall is the surprisingly grounded heart of a Final Fantasy game that reaches all-time high levels of weirdness.
13. Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy 9)
I’ll always have a soft spot for Final Fantasy 7 and 8’s more somber protagonists, but like many fans at the time, I was more than ready to embrace Final Fantasy 9’s return to medieval fantasy as well as its returns to slightly more upbeat lead characters.
Zidane is a fantastic example of a more lighthearted Final Fantasy protagonist, but he is no mere throwback to a simpler time. There’s plenty of darkness in Zidane’s surprisingly deep backstory, which makes his attempts to become a better person and a better leader (as well as his insistence on enjoying life whenever possible) that much more interesting.
12. Cidolfus Orlandeau (Final Fantasy Tactics)
Some version of Cid pretty much had to be on this list, but which Cid is the best of them all? Well, there’s certainly an argument to be made for Final Fantasy 7’s Cid, Final Fantasy 14’s Cid, and Final Fantasy 9’s Cid, but my vote for the best Cid goes to a somewhat outside the box version of this recurring character.
It’s interesting enough that Final Fantasy Tactics’ Cidolfus Orlandeau is a warrior when so many other versions of Cid are engineers, mentors, or even political leaders, but what makes Orlandeau really stand apart is how powerful he is. This is one of the most overpowered characters in Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of both lore and in-game abilities. Actually, his incredible power kind of feels like a love letter to the entire Cid “lineage.”
11. Zack Fair (Final Fantasy 7)
It may seem like Zack Fair’s popularity only started to grow in more recent years, but the truth of the matter is that many Final Fantasy 7 fans have always loved Zack and just weren’t able to properly share their love for this previously minor character prior to the modern internet age.
Before Zack Fair finally got to star in his own game (the largely underrated PSP title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII), he won the hearts of millions with his optimism, friendly nature, and unwavering belief that he can fight to make the world a better place. He is, in many ways, what we think of when we think of heroes.
10. Celes Chere (Final Fantasy 6)
Final Fantasy 6 certainly isn’t lacking in memorable protagonists (or villains), which really makes it that much more impressive that Celes Chere has arguably become the game’s unofficial lead all these years later.
Celes initially comes across as a standoffish enemy general who is only helping the player’s party because they’re temporarily united against a common threat. By the time we reach this game’s legendary opera scene, though, we understand who Celes really is and even start to sympathize with what we previously believed were her greatest flaws. Celes was one of the first Final Fantasy characters that properly showcased the storytelling potential of this franchise and gaming.
9. Lightning (Final Fantasy 13)
Final Fantasy 13 honestly deserves a lot of the criticism it regularly receives, but it’s always been a shame that the game’s divisive (often negative) legacy means Lightning is sometimes denied the status she so rightfully deserves.
Lightning’s backstory isn’t the most complicated in Final Fantasy history, but that actually proves to be one of the character’s strongest qualities. Lightning is mostly interested in protecting her sister, which turns out to be all the motivation as she needs to embark upon an epic journey as well as all the motivation we need to sympathize with the incredible things she does along the way. Lightning is fearless, strong, determined, and the kind of person many of us like to think we would become in her situation.
8. Balthier (Final Fantasy 12)
It’s certainly easy to understand why so many Final Fantasy fans have compared Balthier to Han Solo over the years. Balthier is, after all, a sarcastic yet suave sky pirate who gets caught up in a war. You don’t have to break your brain to see the similarities.
However, that doesn’t make Balthier any less of a compelling character. Balthier believes he’s the real protagonist of Final Fantasy 12’s all-time great story, which is honestly hard to argue against when you consider that he’s the most consistently compelling character in the game and one of the most consistently entertaining characters in the history of this franchise.

By Matthew Byrd
7. Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy 7)
What is it about Tifa that’s made her one of the most popular characters in Final Fantasy history? Is it her warmth? Is it her combat abilities? Is it the ways that she’s able to so easily pivot between leader and supporter based on what the situation calls for?
The answer is “yes.” Tifa is capable in ways that the best playable video game characters sometimes need to be, but she’s still vulnerable, conflicted, and sometimes scared in the ways that any of us would be if we were in her situation. She’s a truly well-rounded character who is more than worthy of her fan-favorite status.
6. Auron (Final Fantasy 10)
On the surface, Auron is everything that you’d expect to see in a “cool” Final Fantasy character. With his giant sword, samurai-like philosophies and lifestyle, and mysterious vibes, you could even argue that Auron represents some of the “tropes” we sometimes associate with this franchise’s most notable warriors.
Yet, Auron is so much more than the (admittedly badass) warrior he first seems to be. As we learn Auron’s backstory, we also learn more about the Final Fantasy X universe and this game’s wonderfully weird and surprisingly complicated storyline. Auron is undoubtedly cool, but it’s the sweet and sorrowful details of his backstory that elevate him above some notable competition.
5. Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy 7)
It’s sometimes hard to look at Cloud and not see a collection of what we now think of as cliches for both Final Fantasy protagonists and JRPG characters. Even if you want to push aside the fact that Cloud helped introduce (or at least arguably perfected) some of those cliches, you can still make a compelling argument for the character’s all-time great status on the basis of some of his qualities that don’t get talked about quite as often as they should.
Cloud is a much deeper and more mysterious character than he often gets credit for. Given that we learn more about him as we learn more about Final Fantasy 7’s plot, world, and emotional stakes, he’s also one of the best (if initially less obvious) player surrogates in the history of RPGs.
4. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7)
Like so many of Final Fantasy’s other great characters, you could make an argument for Sephiroth’s “best” credentials on the basis of his design alone. Any character that looks this cool and has a theme song as incredible as “One-Winged Angel” is destined to steal some hearts.
What’s most impressive about Sephiroth, though, are the ways that the Final Fantasy team has revisited this character and grown him over the years. Sephiroth is a tragic character in many ways, but you won’t find many who are willing to shed a tear for him or the ways he’s used his personal tragedies to internally justify unforgivable acts.
3. Yuna (Final Fantasy 10)
While I don’t hate Tidus as much as some people do, I have to admit that I’ve always seen Yuna as the real protagonist of Final Fantasy 10 as well as one of the series’ best characters ever.
Yuna’s incredible empathy and compassion are appropriate character traits for a summoner who is so willing to complete what is generally considered to be a suicide mission. Yuna believes in the role she plays in this world, but she’s not so committed to her duties that she becomes this one-track protagonist that doesn’t get to develop a personality. Indeed, it’s Yuna’s likability that inspires so many Final Fantasy 10 players to see her complete her quest, whatever the cost may be.
2. Kefka Palazzo (Final Fantasy 6)
When people are praising Kefka as a villain (which is obviously something that happens quite often), the line you’re almost always guaranteed to hear is that Kefka is one of the few villains in any medium who achieves their seemingly absurd plans for world domination. His almost unrivaled success as a villain has rightfully become the defining part of his legacy.
As a character, though, Kefka stands apart through the almost horror movie-like nature of his design (he’s somewhere between Pennywise and the Joker) as well as for the way he goes from court jester to world-destroying diety so convincingly. He is, at the very least, the best Final Fantasy villain ever.
1. Vivi Ornitier (Final Fantasy 9)
Vivi’s short lifespan and the fact he was ignored and dismissed for so many of the few days he had to live should make him one of the most tragic characters in Final Fantasy history. Indeed, many aspects of Vivi’s life are a tragedy and a pretty compelling tragedy at that.
Yet, there’s a reason that simply hearing the name “Vivi” puts a smile on so many Final Fantasy players’ faces. Vivi may discover the sorrowful truth of his existence in Final Fantasy 9, but he also learns the joys of friendship, confidence, and adventure. In many ways, the character’s final words represent how we all feel whenever we have to leave our favorite Final Fantasy characters:
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
“I’m so happy I met everyone… I wish we could’ve gone on more adventures. But I guess we all have to say goodbye someday.”

The Chronicles of Exandria: The Mighty Nein I
And so I do what I did the last 2 times for the Vox Machina Chronicles of Exandria books, which you can read [here] and [here].
These posts by no means contain all of the information in these books, but plenty of what would most interest other fans.  This is by no means a replacement for actually seeing the book.
My best guess on up to where this book spoils is episode 46.  Anyone who has not watched passed 46 can read this without spoilers outside of vague references that don’t really matter.
First and foremost, as usual, the artistry is the most important part of the book. All of the lovely fan-created art work is even more beautiful in ink than on screen. This I promise you.
As has been noted by other people who have received the book, it is written as though it was transcribed by Beau’s journals by the Cobalt Soul.  Some unnamed writer(s) from the Cobalt Reserve from Tal’Dorei have written all parts that are not excerpts from Beau’s journals.  There are edits by Zeenoth, which indicate that the book is not a final draft.  Zeenoth is not impressed by their work.
The books’ foreword is a dedication to critters.  I won’t transcribe all of it but it ends, “As always, we are richer for your company.  For truly, what good are stories unless they can be shared?”
Unlike the Vox Machina ones, which started with pages dedicated to Vox Machina and their adventures first before branching out for guest and NPCs, this one’s table of contents shows that everything is scattered.
The first section is dedicated to the Storyteller - accompanied by art of Matt as “The Storyteller.”   An excerpt follows below:
“A story walks the land through the songs and tales of those who are touched by its heart.  And then one day, long after all the players within have met the Matron, a story will be told for the very last time.  Unless, by the Grace of the Storyteller, we are let to it. [...]  Through Ioun’s blessing we make his favorite children immortal.  You hold one of them in your hands even now.  Wake it carefully.”
Thoreau contacted the Cobalt Soul immediately after Beau’s first arrest - presumably the one with Tori.  As the monks took Beau away, Thoreau referred to her as “his misfortune.”  It is also noted in the margins that Thoreau is a good friend to the Archive.
Unlike the rest of the M9 and characters, there are no excerpts about Beau herself from her journal... Because obviously she doesn’t need to take notes in herself.  However the Cobalt Soul write their own notes about her and her reputation in the Cobalt Soul and note... more than a few times that Zeenoth thinks she is aggressive, stubborn, and quick to judge and anger and as a result they can’t put a lot of stock into her notes on other people.  However, Dairon was right to put their trust in her because her insight in invaluable and is quick to call out injustice.
Beau’s note taking is exceptional - and color-coded.
Beau’s first notes about Molly is that he is “not that bright, definitely drunk, completely full of shit, and not nearly as good of a liar as he thinks he is.  His outfit is loud, far louder than the man himself.”  His coat contains iconography from at least half a dozen gods.  Beau also noted that Molly’s swords were interesting to which the footnotes immediately made note that Molly’s swords were just swords.  Beau thought, in her first impression of him, that he might be on the run from a family of Warlocks.
The librarians decided to omit all of Molly’s earlier lies that he told Beau and the group about his background, and instead only described the climbing out of the grave and only able to say “Empty” story.  He had scars and 9 red eye tattoos on him at the time.
There are sketches of the tattoo in full, after Molly had added to it, but it’s noted by Beau that part of the tattoo is covered by Molly’s hair.  Looking at the sketch, it is implied there are more tattoos on his scalp, rather than just the length covering it.
For Molly’s story of climbing out of the grave to be true, it means that Molly relearned to speak both Common and Infernal, learned to perform his skills and duties with the Carnival, covered his eye tattoos with additional, elaborate tattoos, befriended Yasha, and discovered his innate magic ability to use his blood to infuse his weapons with magic.
Beau had made a list of every book she knew Caleb had on his person or expressed interest in.  This includes the erotic books and the 2 spellbooks.
On the spellbooks, Beau says she isn’t sure about them. One she knows is a spellbook, but she’s not sure on the other as he never opens it.  She wonders if it is a journal of some kind.
There is a page on Beau’s notes in the first arc with the Fletching and Moondrop Carnival - notes about the victim and all her possible suspects of which it is everyone that is part of the carnival.  All of them have a strike through their name, indicating she had eliminated each of them as a suspect at one point, including Kylre.
Among the notes she has, my favorites are that Beau thinks that everyone in the circus hates each other, never trust a clown (about Desmond), and that everyone has a title such as Molly “The Ice-Spinner” and Yasha “The Brute.”  Beau also notes Yasha as being human.
Outside of Beau’s notes, the best information to be found about Shakästa “Hush” is from an anonymous book from Deastock titled “Heroic Deeds of the Golden Grin.”  It is because of Beau’s notes that Hush is confirmed to be real, not a myth, once and for all.
Because of how cool Shakästa was with his cool bird, Beau notes “I gotta get a bird.”  So we have him to thank for Professor Thaddeus.
Unknown what deity Shakästa draws power from.
Known members of the Tombtakers:
Lucien Nonagon (Molly)
Cree: currently employed by the Gentleman.  Blood powers like Molly’s.
[A name which as been severely crossed out but looks like it says Tyffinl]:  Currently said to be in Nogvurot.
Otis and Zoran:  Still at large, whereabouts unknown
Jurrell:  Deceased
Some lady spellcaster from Rexxentrum
The Myriad is currently gaining footholds in Tal’dorei as well.  There is also a written notation by Zeenoth to cross reference the Myriad activity with the Tombtakers, indicating that he believes that the Tombtakers and the Myriad might be connected.
Cobalt Soul theorizes that the blood Cree claims the Gentleman took from the M9 to track them might be a new form of blood-based mutagenetic tracking.
Beau’s first impression of Nott and Caleb’s relationship was that Nott heaped praise on him and that there might be some sort of blood debt or magic going on.
Beau’s early theory on Caleb was that he was hiding from a criminal employer and had done a high-level theft.  She made note to watch if he attempted to side-step certain kinds of work.
Everything about Caleb sounded like bad news to Beau, but because he stuck around to get her out of jail Beau comes to the conclusion that that’s endearing.
Beau has made an observation that Caleb was searching for some kind of information in a book, related to transmutation.  She wonders if bartering to get him into the Cobalt Soul library will get her into his good graces, though she hopes he won’t find out that the library is technically open to all if you ask nicely.
There is an entry (in Beau’s second journal, it should be noted) were several pages were ripped out about Caleb.  This indicates that Beau had written down Caleb’s backstory of killing his parents but she, Caleb, or someone else had ripped it out before it got into the hands of the Cobalt Soul.  The Cobalt Soul draws the conclusion that Caleb is connected to organized crime.  They are also unable to find anyone born with the name Caleb Widogast in the Empire and they believe it to be an alias.
There are written notations that say that at least one of the ripped out pages were recovered, in which Beau describes the night Caleb told her and Nott about killing his parents.  Both mentions of Trent Ikathon’s name were crossed out until illegible.  Beau was unconvinced that Caleb’s memories after killing his parents aren’t still jumbled (rather than missing).
Fun fact!  All of the Caleb illustrations in his art section all either have fire or Frumpkin in them.  Because when you boil down Caleb to his essentials that’s all I’m saying.
The strangest thing about the M9, as far as the Cobalt Soul is concerned,  is that they have a goblin among their party.
Beau also wonders if Nott’s relationship with Caleb isn’t also out of love or blind loyalty.  Upon finding out that Nott feels like the parental figure (rather than the other way around, as Beau had assumed) Beau wonders what it is that Nott wants Caleb to be stronger for... Revenge? Or to change herself.
Beau notes that while Nott might have named herself so to call herself not brave, Beau thinks she is pretty brave.  She describes Nott diving into the water for Fjord’s arc twice (even if she complained the entire time) and Nott saving Jester from the blue dragon which “absolutely saved Jester’s life.”  Nott is very focused on everyone remaining together as a team.  Beau believes that while Nott’s loyalty to Caleb has not lessened, her loyalty to the rest of the party has extended to them all.
“I think we might all be her kids now.  It’s kind of sweet, in a really weird way.”
Zeenoth is extremely salty their junior drew lots of buttons instead of researching the crossbow Nott got from Hupperdook.
A list of all phrases that Beau noted in her journals that Kiri had learned in her time with them.
Welcome to the Mighty Nein!
I am Kiri!
Yes, I am very sweet.
It’s sharp.
Ooh, I’m a captain.
Where do babies come from?
Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!
If it bleeds, we can kill it.
I killed people!
Get into trouble!
She’s probably a good egg.
Go fuck yourself.
Zeenoth is VERY upset about the word fuck and wants that entry removed.
Beau thinks Calianna is too polite.
Cobalt Soul believes there is at least one other bowl like the one Calianna destroyed with the M9.
Beau hopes they don’t pick up any more stragglers, as she thinks it is getting crowded.
Cobalt Soul theorizes about why Keg had a four o’clock shadow rather than a proper Dwarven beard, wondering if she wasn’t forced to shave.  This indicates that beards are normal on female dwarves.
Beau thinks Shady Creek Run is so called because it’s full of shady criminals, but the Cobalt Soul notes that Shady Creek Run has a creek that is in near constant shade in the abundant pine trees.
On Molly’s death Beau says:
“Fuck.   That went horribly.  We lost Molly, and I don’t know what to do. [This part is crossed out: Maybe if I had-] I’m trying my best to stay objective.”
Beau also crosses out “I’m starting to like her” about Keg, and replaces it with “She’s fine, I guess.”
On Nila Beau says: “She said something really nice about Molly.  How in her clan, someones spirit never leave you.  They return to nature, and are forever by your side.  I don’t know if I believe it, but I like the thought.”
Beau wants her own “lucky smell bag” that’ll make decisions for her.
The Blooming Grove was built post-Calamity.
Beau’s first impressions of Caduceus is that he is both grounded and flighty.
Because Caduceus hasn’t eaten meat or alcohol in the time she’s known him, she thinks he’s got to have some sort of vice.
Because of Beau’s talk with Caduceus after killing the blue dragon, Beau remarks that she likes her edge and doesn’t want to lose it and go soft. But maybe it is a better, more efficient way of doing things by being there for the M9. “Gross.”
There is a note in the margins telling the editor to contact Archivist Demid (AKA the guy studying the moons) for information on the Dust family.  This indicates that he may have some special information.
Because of Jester’s defacing every town she visits, the Cobalt Soul has been able to track the M9′s movements.
The Cobalt Soul’s 2 working theories on the Traveler is that he’s a smaller/younger deity either from folk tales about a cloaked figure that either rewards or punishes heroes with a ironic twist OR a god of vandalism.
Zeenoth notes that if the Traveler IS a god of vandalism... they may have a secret follower in their ranks because of all the smut doodles in their books lately. Which of course Jester probably drew.
Beau says that as Jester told the group about her prank causing her to have to flee from Nicodranas she was full of her usual bubbliness... But was starting to see that there was underlying sadness in Jester.
Beau has known Jester has had a thing for Fjord since they first met, but after she got Tusk Love it became full-blown infatuation.
“Fjord seems super oblivious, though, which isn’t surprising for a man who occasionally wakes up covered in seawater and confusion.”
Beau stands by her and Jester’s purchase of the owl and blink dog, but she wonders how long the weasel is going to last in their line of work.
Beau wonders if it’s weird to be attracted to your friend’s mom and comes to the conclusion it is so she’ll back off... But the Ruby is smoking hot.
Beau can also see why people who want to release and evil god for Avantika. Not that she would. “She’s hot, but come on.”
No really new information on The Plank King is revealed in his section, but quite a bit is crossed out until illegible.  This could detail what connection to the Cobalt Soul he has, but was redacted.
The Cobalt claims that while the M9 titled a leader, Fjord often took that position.
Beau is making direct reports on Fjord to the Cobalt Soul and his connection to Uk’otoa.  In her latest report, she says that they’ve bought some time until their next trip to the sea............
Waiting for the rest of the M9 to come out of the Happy Fun Ball, after fighting the blue dragon, are among the rest worst few minutes of Beau’s life.
Beau believed Twiggy that she killed the blue dragon, in part because Caduceus believed her.
Beau accidentally writes “cute and dry” instead of “cut and dried” about Yasha’s background.
“For someone dressed in greys, who carries herself like a dark cloud, Yasha sure seems drawn to color and light. I wonder where it stems from.”
On Yasha being tested by the Stormlord by the “man made of lightning” the Cobalt Soul says it is not uncommon for the Stormlord to test his disciples through acts of physical, mental, or spiritual exertion.
The final notes by Zeenoth indicates that whoever wrote the book (outside of edits from Zeenoth himself and excerpts from Beau’s journals) were by someone from Tal’dorei.  Who might it be? Someone we know?

5, fluff, any scenario/pairing! :)
5. “You made your choice.” from this prompt list!
have some zimbits fluff for the soul, but first you have to read about bitty and the zimmerclan’s baking shenanigans, that’s the rule. ao3
.
After three years of routinely visiting Bob and Alicia, Bitty no longer feels the need to hold himself back in baking competitions.
Well, he never really did, anyway, for a few reasons. The first one is that the first time, he and Alicia had teamed up against Jack and Bob, and she had looked him directly in the eye and said “let’s fuck them up” immediately before dumping a full cup of salt into their sugar. The second is that the Zimmermanns, however much they might usually bake when he’s not around, seem legitimately fascinated when he talks about the techniques he’s using or what he’s making and why.
And Bitty is a huge fan of positive attention, so, that was kind of that?
Besides, once Alicia had done the whole salt-and-sugar thing, all hell had broken loose, and Bitty had to try and figure out what to do now that his icing sugar had baking powder in it. It’s definitely a different skill set from baking at home, where he’s pretty much free to concentrate, or in the Haus, where he just has to fend off the occasional invasions to try and steal unbaked cookie dough.
But this year is different. Jack’s read aloud enough snippets from his group chat with his parents that Bitty knows someone (Bob) has been watching a lot of competition baking shows.
That kind of explains… everything that’s going on here.
“It’ll be a tournament,” Bob had explained, mug of coffee in hand, when Bitty had found him busily moving kitchen furniture that morning (one-handed, by himself, good Lord). “Jack versus Alicia, you against me, then the winners duel each other.”
“Duel?”
“Bake the best cookies ever. Same thing.”
“Best cookies ever, keeping in mind the fact that they’re going to be sabotaged in unholy ways,” Bitty had corrected.
So now here they are. The kitchen is big, but there are simply only two ovens, and that means that they can only have one ‘duel’ happening at once. But the fact that Jack and Alicia are competing against each other hasn’t stopped either of them from trying to get Bitty and Bob to take sides and help out.
“I’m literally just asking one of you to dump in a few more tablespoons of vanilla extract,” Alicia calls from where she’s furiously stirring batter. From the smell, Bitty is guessing gingersnaps, but he’s going to reserve judgment until he actually eats one.
“I’m not making it disgusting if I have to try it after,” Bob replies, mirroring Bitty’s thoughts.
“Then make Eric try those ones.” She looks up from her bowl and grins at Bitty, and he’s struck by the rock-hard determination in her eyes. In moments like this, he sees the resemblance between her and Jack even more clearly. “No offense.”
While she’s looking up, Jack whips around the island and pours a cup of something into her mixing bowl. “Maman, you would need ridiculous amounts of vanilla extract to make a difference.”
But Alicia is distracted. “Jack Laurent Zimmermann, did you just put rice in my cookie batter?”
He shrugs at her, and laughs, and goes back to his own batter, but Alicia’s got her scheming face on.
So when Alicia’s gingersnaps come with bonus rice and garlic salt and Jack’s peanut butter cookies kind of turn into one big slab of vanilla-y melted peanut butter, it is absolutely no surprise.
.
The moment Bob had said he would face off against Bitty in the first round, Bitty had had an idea.
See, one of Bob’s main tactics is stealing ingredients from the other person. That way, ideally, they don’t have enough to make their cookies, and he can be sure the ingredients weren’t tampered with.
Well, today is the last day he’s going to try that.
The ingredients for all of them are already measured out into their own containers, labeled for convenience. Bitty had simply waited for Bob to go looking for his phone to record the chaos and swapped the labels on his own containers.
He’s also making flourless cookies, but he’s planning to make a big enough deal out of checking his flour for sabotage that Bob will go right for it. There’s a lot of cream of tartar in there. Also baking powder. And he might try to get in some garlic powder too, because that was frankly inspiring.
Also, Jack putting in garlic salt meant that Bitty and Bob had to eat gingersnaps with garlic salt. So it’s just fair.
All of these preparations mean that Bitty has had to stay in the kitchen the whole time, just so he can be one hundred percent sure that Bob can’t make the same preparations.
The Zimmermanns get a lot of entertainment from friendly competition where the goal is more to make a fool of your family than it is to actually win, but at the same time, they are ruthless when it comes to making sure everyone else loses. (This, Bitty is pretty sure, is the source of Jack’s devastating Settlers of Catan strategies.) So Bitty has also selected a recipe with only four ingredients, the fewer to fuck up.
He’s going to have to keep a sharp eye over them while they rest before he puts them in the oven, but if they spread, he can always just cut them up and call them cookie bars.
Well. As long as they’re actually solid. Jack’s cookie attempt made that clear.
Bitty is feeling pretty prepared, and he makes a big show of checking his flour container before they start, but unfortunately, it’s all for naught, because he’s in the middle of mixing together the cocoa powder and powdered sugar when he hears quick footsteps, turns to defend himself from what’s probably going to be an onslaught of garlic and/or rice, and gets a face full of flour.
“Damn it,” Bob says calmly, and then he promptly grabs Bitty’s tampered flour container, opens it, and pours it into Bitty’s mixing bowl.
Bitty can hear Jack and Alicia trying not to laugh too loudly, but he just flicks some flour in Bob’s face and picks up his own mixing bowl, manages some spinorama in his socks on the hardwood floor, and pours all of that into Bob’s bowl of wet ingredients.
“I’m resourceful,” he tells Bob, who looks like he’s torn between doubling over laughing and being completely appalled, and scoots past him to get back to his own station.
In the end, they’re even less successful than Jack and Alicia. Bob dumps Bitty’s leftover egg yolks into his batter, along with what must be half a cup of Bob’s own melted butter, and that means Bitty is both out of eggs and his cookies are definitely not going to turn into… real cookies, so he sticks whatever the hell that batter is in the oven and devotes the rest of his time to blocking Bob whenever he tries to get an ingredient. They both wind up with what is basically chocolate chips coated in an uneven mixture of wet and dry ingredients, then melted and/or toasted for good measure.
They universally agree Jack and Alicia don’t have to try to eat those, since nobody knows for sure if the eggs actually got cooked. But that kind of puts an end to the whole competition thing, and once they’re done collectively cleaning the kitchen, Alicia has to take a call from her agent and Bob volunteers to go on a grocery run since now they’re pretty much out of any and all baking ingredients.
Jack flops down on the sectional in the living room, and Bitty joins him, both of them in clean clothes. The sectional is big enough for at least three full-sized hockey players to stretch out comfortably (which makes sense considering Jack and Bob, and Alicia’s plenty tall too), but honestly, what’s the point of stretching out? What he actually wants to do is lay his head on Jack’s chest and enjoy the fact that nobody is going to dump flour on him for at least two days. Probably.
So that’s what he does, with a great view of the skylight in the ceiling, and Jack wraps an arm around him and then asks, “Do I still smell like vanilla? I swear Maman started aiming for my hair after the first couple of tries.”
“She said it was a direct response to the garlic salt,” Bitty reminds him. “You made your choice.”
He feels Jack’s laugh rumbling in his chest, and he says, “I did. It cost me a lot of shampoo. Worth it.”
“Oh, you’re just saying that because you didn’t have to eat them. Lord.” And then Bitty starts laughing too. “Alicia’s face when you poured the rice in was incredible.”
“Good."
They drift into a comfortable silence, until Jack says, "I’m really glad you like my parents.”
“I’m really glad your parents like me,” Bitty responds.
“That too. But my parents liked you before we were even really friends at all. I was never worried about that. You liking them means… It makes everything simpler.” Jack’s fingers tap out some sort of rhythm on Bitty’s chest and he wonders what song Jack has stuck in his head. “I don’t know what I would have done otherwise.”
“You and me both. At least it didn’t come to that.” As Bitty says it, he’s thinking of his own parents— Jack’s incomprehensible friendship with Coach (well, incomprehensible in the sense that Bitty doesn’t speak golf, he understands perfectly well why they get along), his mom’s immediate adoration of Jack, or, as she put it to Bitty later, 'polite and sensible and looks at you like you hung the moon, Dicky’. He’d worried about Jack liking his parents right up until he had gotten them in a room together and realized he probably couldn’t have found a better match. “So we don’t have to worry.”
“No, we don’t,” Jack agrees, and brushes Bitty’s hair back off of his face, and Bitty thinks he could spend the rest of his life here.
