“Another podium for you how does it feel?”
“Uhm good, yeah.” I say.
“That was your 5th career podium.” The interviewer said. “In only your debut in Formula one.”
“Well my dad had 103 after 20 years so.” I say.
“Alright thank you!” They say and I walk to the next one and so on. They’re so annoying. I go to the paddock and my dad is there.
I walk up and hug him. “Good job today.” He said.
“Thank you isi.” I say. “The media is just ehh today.”
“They’re always like that, never gets old.” He said. “Give them dry answers and they’ll move on.”
“Always, that’s what you did!” I say.
He retired last year, and I entered. I didn’t get his spot, but I did get a Mercedes spot.. “Only 18 and you’re doing amazing!” Lewis said.
“Thank you!” I say.
“The media pen isn’t happy though.” He said. “Called you dry with answers.”
“Well.” I say. “What do they expect?”
“Apparently more than what you’re giving them.” Lewis laughed. “Little kimi following her dad’s footsteps.”
“Ehh.” I disagree without words.
“Following?” My dad said. “She’s passing me.”
“She’s still amazingly good.” Lewis compliments.
We do the podium and celebrate. The media calls a press with the top 5. Me, Lewis, Lando, Oscar, and Alonso surprisingly enough. They ask all the questions and I zone out for most of it.
“Raïkkönnen? Any thoughts?” One asked.
“What was the question?” I ask. The guys laugh and he repeats the question of ‘Mercedes performance gaining recognition’ “It was only a matter of time.” I respond. “I wouldn’t have joined if the performance was shit.”
Alonso nudges me and laughs. I look at him and smile. He’s one of my dad’s good friends. “Thank you.” The interviewer said. “How are you guys celebrating?”
“A nap.” I say quickly.
“Ouu I might steal that answer.” Lando said.
“Maybe a few bottles of champagne, huh little Kimi?” Alonso nudged me again. I smile at his answer and shake my head at him.
“I like Alonso’s answer.” Lewis laughed.
“Yeah me too.” Oscar agreed also.
I laugh with a hand on my forehead. They’re gonna get me in trouble. Last podium I went clubbing with the top 10, my dad wasn’t there so I drank and drank. Alonso had to cut me off.
“Partying and Naps to celebrate then.” The interviewer laughed.
After the interview and packing up, I’m back in my driver trailer for the night. My dad stays with me when he’s at races, it’s cheaper and we get more time together.
“What were they talking about at the press?” He asked.
“I was barely paying attention isi.” I say. “Something about partying.”
“Ahh, I did that a lot.” He said. “You should be partying right now.”
“Isi, no.” I scoff. “I don’t party.”
“Yes you do, Alonso told me about last time.”
“What?!” I ask.
“Yeah, he tells me everything about you.”
“Well that was one time.” I say.
“Come on, you have to party!” He encouraged. “You’re only 18 once.”
“Fine! Fine.” I say. “Find out where they are, I’ll get ready.”
“That’s my girl!” He laughed.
I go to my bags and find a clubbing outfit. I find a sparkly black tight dress with no straps, I must’ve shoved it in there and forgot about it. I put it on, doing my makeup and hair after. I go out and dad’s sitting on his phone. “Your driver has the location.” He said.
“Okay, I’ll be back later Isi.” I say walking out.
The next few get longer I promise

Nut
Nut, my beloved Goddess of the Sky. Now I am a little biased about Nut––She is the main Goddess that I worship––but I will do my best to retain some semblance of professionalism when it comes to discussion about Her. And remember these are unedited essays. Fact-checked, yes, but I'm not going for journal/publication quality.
For the most part, discussions and essays surrounding Nut focus solely on Her role as the night sky and rarely delve into the deep lore and meaning behind Her role and appearance within Egyptian mythology. However, for the purposes of this essay, I will begin with the basics.
Nut, also spelled as Nuit, is an ancient Egyptian Goddess most easily recognizable by either the pot atop Her head or the stars decorating Her body as She arches over the earth. In this latter form, it appears as though Her arms and legs are kept tightly together; in reality, Her hands and feet touch each of the four cardinal points of the horizon, representing the four pillars of heaven.
Her name comes from the hieroglyph W24, the pot, which stands for the sound nw. The t is added as a feminine suffix pronoun, thus creating the name Nwt. Why Nut bears a pot atop Her head has been debated, but the general consensus is that it represents the womb; a carrying object, filled with water and sustenance.
Contrary to a great deal of ancient civilizations who depicted the earth as female and the sky as male (think Mother Earth and Father Sky), the ancient Egyptians conceived of the sky as feminine, and Her counterpart, the earth, as male, in the male God Geb, often depicted below Nut in a reclined position. The two Gods were siblings; the children of Shu and Tefnut, representing air and moisture, and who Themselves were the direct children of the sun God Ra.
Some epithets (titles that reveal nature) of Nut:
One-who-gives-birth-to-the-Gods
Mother of All
She the Great One
She Who Protects
She Who Holds A Thousand Souls
Great Encloser
Perhaps the most well-known of myths that Nut is associated with is that of the birth of the Ennead. I discussed this myth in my Osiris post, but I will recite it in short terms here.
Nut and Geb were conceived from the sibling-union of Shu and Tefnut and, in similar fashion, Nut and Geb were joined together in a loving embrace. However, since the sky was joined to the earth, there was no space for humans or any living thing to walk or exist. Because of this (though the reason in the variations of the myth can differ), Ra decided to have Geb and Nut separated, and had Their father, Shu, hold up Nut; thus Shu fulfilled His role as the atmosphere, the air. But this was not the only reason Ra took this course of action; Ra had fear of a prophecy which stated that the children of Nut would one day overthrow him. Due to His fear, Ra forbade Nut from giving birth on any day of the year. Nut asked Thoth, the God of wisdom and writing, for help, and Thoth went to the moon God Iah (a more archaic version of the moon God Khonsu) and gambled with the moon God for some of His light. Thoth and Iah played the game senet, and each time Thoth won, He earned a sliver of moonlight. Eventually, Thoth had earned enough to have five extra days in the year––the Epagomenal days––and on those days, Nut gave birth to Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys, and in some versions, Horus the Elder.
This story is a rather late telling and comes mainly from the Moralia of Plutarch. Plutarch is not the best and most reliable source for Egyptian history and mythology, and it does not help that his own sources were skewed by the time in which he lived; that being a much later era of Egyptian history in which the original myths of the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms had been changed and altered over time. Still, it gives us some idea of Nut and tells us that She is the mother of some of the greatest and most revered Gods of Egypt.
Another myth that is found in the Book of the Heavenly Cow details another version of how Nut came to be the sky, tying into the myth of the rampaging Goddess Sekhmet who was eventually pacified with beer.
The importance of Nut tends to be underplayed by both modern scholars and modern practitioners of Kemeticism, the revival of the ancient Egyptian religion. Usually, She is relegated to being the mother of the 'main Gods', and simply the sky of the earth. People lack knowledge, or perhaps the desire to find the knowledge, of Her role as a funerary deity. Fortunately, there are still a number of historians and scholars who have devoted some section of their research into Nut and Her roles.
Arching over the earth, Nut was considered as 'the vault of the sky,' and the body through which Ra travelled in both the day and the night. During the day, Ra in His day barque would sail across Nut's body, and in the evening, with Nut's head oriented in the west and Her legs in the east, Ra was swallowed by Nut to be regenerated through rebirth in Her womb, come the next morning. This, of course, gives a somewhat contrasting idea to the fact that Ra is said to pass through the Duat, the ancient Egyptian 'underworld', every night.
Thus we come to a very interesting discussion that I have found a lot of joy in reading about: the argument of whether or not the Duat is a chthonic or celestial afterlife. After all, the word 'underworld' was applied by Western scholars and the Duat itself, as a word, does not denote anything 'underground'. For an in-depth study of this, I highly recommend Silvia Zago's Conceptualizing Life after Death: The Evolution of the Concept of Duat and Related Notions in Egyptian Funerary Literature, a fascinating look into funerary literature throughout the eras of ancient Egypt. She comes to the conclusion that, in the Old Kingdom at least, the Duat is a place in the sky, a definitive region within Nut's body. The body of Nut is described geographically in some sections of the Pyramid Texts, and among those regions, the Duat is named. The deceased is described as ascending to the Duat region in PT U271 390;
"Unas ascends on that ladder* which his father Re has made for him. Horus and Seth seize the arm of Unas and take him to the Duat Region."
*The ladder was often used as a symbol of Nut, representing steps to ascend to Heaven, to Her body.
But this is not a solitary region as Heaven in Abrahamic religions is; the afterlife, as conceived by the ancient Egyptians, was the ability to join the cycle of regeneration that the sun took each night and day.
"... it (is) more appropriate to regard these early funerary texts as expressing a multi-faceted yet somewhat coherent vision of the afterlife, one granting the deceased access to both parts of the cosmic cycle – day and night – in order to be reborn at dawn with the sun and achieve immortality." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
"May you cross the sky, united with darkness (i.e. in the Nun or Duat), so that you may you rise from the horizon, the place in which you have become akhs." (PT 217 §152c-d)
In this way, the deceased joined the eternal cycle in the presence of the Gods, and this regeneration took place within the body of Nut––conceivably inside Her womb, where Ra would rest before dawn when He was born as the rising sun.
"...the caption by Nut’s vulva in the monumental versions of the Book of Nut (Osireion and tomb of Ramses IV) labels her vulva as being the Axt iAbtt, “eastern horizon” (text P, EAT I: 81; von Lieven 2007: 51 §7), namely the point of the sky where the sun reappears (i.e. is “born”) into the world at dawn." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
Additional evidence for Nut and the Duat being related is seen in Pyramid Text 442:
“See, he has come as Orion. See, Osiris has come as Orion... ‘Good One’, said his mother, ‘Heir’, said his father, whom the sky has conceived, to whom the Duat has given birth. Oh king (NN), may the sky conceive you/King (NN) together with Orion, may the Duat give birth to you and Orion.”
Whether the impersonal 'sky' (pt) and the personal Nut (the Goddess) are one and the same as literary subjects, or if they are separate as a physical thing and a divinity is somewhat up for debate. The hieroglyphs used to spell pt and nwt are very similar. But considering how consistently the ancient Egyptians attributed personality to natural phenomena and used little distinction between the two, this stands as evidence that it is Nut, as the sky, as the Duat, conceiving Osiris/Orion.
Altogether, what we can take from this is that Nut plays a large role in the afterlife as a place of regeneration and of rebirth, acting as both the day and night sky. She protects, holds, and revitalizes the thousands of souls under Her care, including those of the Gods. There is a lot more discussed in Silvia Zago's publication and I highly recommend reading through it. Personally, this is something I find very auspicious; the idea that, in death, you will return to the stars. And this is a very clear idea in the Pyramid Texts, that the Pharaoh will ascend to become an 'imperishable star'.
PT 139, Utterance 214: The (glorified) humanity bewail you after the Imperishable Stars have carried you. Enter then into the place where your father is, where Geb is! PT 141, Utterance 215: "Look at me! you have seen the forms of the children of their fathers, who know their spell, who are now Imperishable Stars". (Referring to past Pharaohs) PT 380, Utterance 269: The father of Unas, Atum, seizes the arm of Unas and He assigns Unas to those Gods who are quick and clever, the Never-setting Stars (Circumpolars).
Due to Her nature as a funerary deity, it is not uncommon to see Her represented on the inner lids of coffins, especially in the New Kingdom and later periods of Egypt, symbolically covering and protecting the deceased with Her star-covered body. Here, the sarcophagus is symbolic of a maternal uterus, thus why the coffin and Nut were connected; Her epithet Great Encloser refers to this connection.

(From the coffin of Peftjauneith, 26th Dynasty)
An important book from the New Kingdom, which I previously mentioned, is the Book of the Heavenly Cow, found on the outermost part of the four gilded shrines of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, the tomb of Ramses VI (KV9), the tomb of Seti I (KV17), the tomb of Ramses II (KV7), and the tomb of Ramses III (KV11). The Heavenly Cow is a form of Nut, just as the falcon may be a representation of Horus just the same as His human form.

Here, Her belly is covered in stars, and She is held and supported by Shu and the Infinite Ones, a group of Gods mentioned in the Book of the Heavenly Cow.
To put it briefly, Ra is betrayed in some way by mankind––interpretation differs, as always––and decides that His presence in the earthly realm is no longer needed nor safe for Him. He has Nut, as the Heavenly Cow, lift Him up into the sky to separate Him from humanity.
This God (Ra) then said to Nut, "It is in order that I may be uplifted that I have placed myself on Your back." "What's this?" asked Nut. And so She is the person that came to be there in both the heavens. (of night and day) The Majesty of this God said, "Stay far away from them (humanity)! Lift me up (so I am visible)! Look at me!" And so She became the sky. (Chapter 3, Divisions 61-65)
Then Nut started trembling because of the height. So the Majesty of Re said, "If only I had millions supporting her!" And so the Infinite Ones were brought into being. (Chapter 3, Divisions 70-71)

Something else of note in Silvia Zago's book is Nut's relationship to Nunet, the feminine counterpart of the primeval God Nun. This connection is somewhat obscure and came as somewhat of a surprise to me but I found it immensely interesting. It begins with the fact that the sky was conceived of as a watery expanse; hence the use of boats to cross it, and the verbs used describing the journey: 'to row', 'to ferry', or 'to cross'.
"Besides these indirect clues, the most direct piece of evidence of the watery nature of the sky is the very same fact that its regions are imagined as marshlands, separated from one another by a “winding canal” (the ecliptic), and both possessing shores and lakes: to the south was the sxt iArw “Field of Rushes,” and to the north the sxt Htp(w) “Field of Offerings"." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
The reason why the sky was thought of as a watery expanse is, however, rather easily explainable: the sky was thought of as an interface or barrier between the expanse of Nun (the primordial ocean) outside and the earthly world inside. Nut, held up by the atmosphere of Shu, protected the world from these waters rushing in. As an interesting piece of side evidence, Beaux (1998) found that the determinative sign for star (N14) derived from the starfish, likening these 'lower stars' of the earth's oceans to the upper stars of the cosmos. This is mostly conjecture but has some basis in reality, and if true, would explain later funerary text's allusion to stars swimming across the sky.
Nun stands as the third piece of the puzzle in the Pyramid Text's conception of the universe: earth, sky, and the Abyss. This abyss, in the form of Nun, represents everything opposite to what is imagined on Earth: "... where the world is finite, the Nun is infinite, limitless; while the sun brightens existence on earth, the universe outside is immersed in perpetual, uniform darkness. Where the world is characterized by daily life activity ad continual change, the Nun is inert." (Silvia Zago, 2019) This space has negative and positive energy. In essence, it is pure potential. So while Nun can be possibly dangerous, it also contains the full creative potential, and thus the ability to regenerate. As stated in later funerary texts, it is impossible to undergo regeneration in the ordered world––regeneration must take place when submerged in the potential energy of Nun. (Evidenced by Hornung 1982 and J.P. Allen 1988)
This expanse of potential energy is detailed geographically in the Pyramid Texts, and placed above, or on the outer side, of Nut, but also existing underground beneath the earth. Evidence of this is shown by the hieroglyphic determinative for 'sky' (N1) being used upside down. However, when speaking of these underground waters, it is far more common for the name Nunet (also spelled Naunet) to be used––the feminine counterpart of Nun. This phrase translates to 'lower sky' or 'nether sky', and is clearly contrasted with not only Nun but Nut as well.
"The seemingly ambiguous contradiction lying in the fact the Nunet could be thought to represent both the underground waters, as a feminine counterpart of Nun, and a nether-sky, as a counterpart of Nut herself in an underworld, is due to the fact that, once again, according to the Egyptian mindset, more than one explanation was possible." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
A section of the Pyramid Texts that refers to these two heavens––the upper sky and lower heaven––is shown here and again represents the duality and the cycle through which the deceased passes in their afterlife:
"... your arms are (those of) Hapy and Duamutef, which you need to ascend to heaven, and you ascend, your legs are (those of) Imsti and Qebehsenuf, which you need to descend to the lower heaven, and you descend. All your members are (those of) the twins of Atum, o Imperishable One! You did not pass away, your ka does not pass away. You are a ka!" (PT 215 §149)
The idea for a 'lower sky' likely originated in the need to explain what happened to the stars during the day, and what became of the day sky during the night. Thus the 'inverted' sky served as a nether-region counterpart, nearly identical to the heavenly sky down to its' watery nature. When personalized, this means that Nunet and Nut can be seen as counterparts of one another.
(Barta, 1973)
For your ease of reading, I've run this through Google Translate for you: "Apparently Nut originally belonged as the female counterpart to Nun, Greek Νουν, the primordial water, although the names could be described in ancient Egyptian as Njw and Njwt and could be related to the word for water nwjt, which we already encounter in the Pyramid Texts. Several texts show that both gods must have been closely connected, including the well-known hymn to the gods of the Old Kingdom, which describe Nun and Nut as the parents of a solar god. […] The primordial waters, which stretched both in the underworld and across the sky, functioned as a mother deity. Its splitting into the pair of gods Nun/Nut and the associated specialization of Nut into the celestial ocean would then be just as secondary phenomena as the existence of the goddess Naunet, who only as Nut's successor would have formed the female complement to Nun, and therefore also synonymous with Nut could be used."
Nut and Nun, both functioning as a place of regeneration and rebirth and imagined as a watery expanse, carry a lot of similarities. With this in mind it is much easier to see how the two could be related and, in this logic, how Nut and Naunet can be seen as both opposites and reflections of one another.
Another object of both celestial and funerary importance that is associated with Nut is the Akhet. For those who don't know, the Axt is the horizon, evident in the name Horakhty, which means Horus (Hor) of the Horizon (akht), and it is the final place where regeneration and rebirth are possible, as it is the area where the sun is born each day.
"Throughout the Pyramid Texts, (the Akhet) seems indeed to be meant as the liminal zone through which the night sun passes coming from the Duat, and from which it rises in the morning, thus an interface between two spheres of existence... So the Akhet was both a point of juncture of cosmic realms (Duat, earth, and sky) and a region in itself, endowed with regenerative significance and symbolism." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
Some sections of the Pyramid Texts even mention Nut guiding the deceased towards the Akhet, describing a 'path of the horizon' where the Goddess leads the dead. This path conceivably led from the western horizon, where the sun sets, to the eastern horizon, where the sun is born again. Where exactly the roads are is unclear; they could be underground or within Nut's body. Which one it is is mostly up to personal speculation.
This has been, of course, mostly an analysis of the Pyramid Texts. Later on, the Duat does take on more of a chthonic nature separate from the earlier celestial conception. The afterlife became associated more with Osiris, an earthly figure of fertility and soil, rather than Ra, the solar celestial figure. However, how it is presented in the Pyramid Texts gives a rather good idea of the Duat being something varying and dependable.
"... the use of the sign (N31) (path) could suggest the idea the Duat was regarded as a path of sorts, while the sign (O49) (township) may indicate that it was imagined to be a defined locale in the cosmos... The signs (N1) (sky) and (N37) (pool) also appear in conjunction with the word Duat, pointing to the idea of the (diurnal) sky or more generically a celestial domain and to its watery nature, respectively." (Silvia Zago, 2019)
The use of the hieroglyphic O49 is interesting, denoting that the Duat could be thought of as a city; this city existing within Nut. Nut, being a holder and protector of thousands of souls, can be easily seen as a city in and of Herself, and is referred to as such by Nils Billing:
"The goddess Nut is characterized as "city" as early as the Pyramid texts. 'Make nni, make nni, O Nut; Geb has commanded that you make nni, in this your name of City.' (Pyr. 1596a-b [587]) The passage is found in the longer spell 587 which describes the creation and establishment of Egypt in terms of a city... The earth, i.e. the kingdom of Egypt, is treated in the symbolic form of the Eye of Horus. After being damaged by Seth, the Eye/Egypt/Kingship is reconstituted by Horus. 'It is he who sets you in order in this your name of Settlement; it is he who comes and he makes nni behind you in this your name of City.' (Pyr. 1595a-b, cf. 1597b-c) This description is directly followed by the Nut passage cited above. The path to a correct understanding of these passages is somewhat hampered by the uncertainty of the meaning of the verb nni... Kuhlmann (1991:219) sees movement as the common denominator of (these interpretations), an interpretation supported by the occurrence of the legs as determinative. The type of movement intended is, however, more difficult to grasp." (Nils Billing, 2002)
The final text of gross importance to Nut is the Book of Heaven, also known as the Book of Nut and the Book of the Celestial Cow, but in ancient times referred to as The Fundamentals of the Course of the Stars. This is an astrological text that contains some references to myth but, in general, concerns itself with the course of the stars. It is not a flat text as the term 'book' might insinuate; instead, it is the image of the Goddess stretched out in Her form as the sky, surrounded by extensive hieroglyphs detailing the nocturnal voyage of Ra and the 36 decans through Nut's body. This paper goes into some detail about the contents of the Book of Nut and where it has been found, although it does not contain the text of the book itself.
For further reading on Nut here are some papers and websites I recommend:

Nut, the Goddess of Life in Text and Iconography by Nils Billing (this is not available for free but I highly recommend it)
A Timeline of the Decans by Theresa Ainsworth
Again I recommend Silvia Zago's book The Evolution of the Concept of Duat and Related Notions in Egyptian Funerary Literature, and to read the entirety of the Pyramid Texts you can visit this website or this one to read the Pyramid Texts of Pharaoh Unas, where the first edition of the Pyramid Texts was found.
I have gone over a handful of the more simple subjects regarding Nut but if you truly have any interest in Her I suggest reading some of the above links. She is a fascinating Goddess and, in my religious opinion, one of the most powerful and beautiful of Them all. She is highly underappreciated and I love discussing Her. If anyone has any other links or comments to make on this Netjeret, please add them in the comments.

jason grace x egyptian daughter of isis story idea

when jason dies, his fate angers him more than it should. he died a hero's death, and can now live in peace forever, but he still feels like he never got a choice in the matter - like he never got the chance to live normally, fully, in a way extrinsic from the gods.
iris, egyptian goddess of magic and all sorts, resurrects him on one condition. that he help bring peace and strength to the egyptian spirits still occupying the pyramids - the ones who can't move on. he finds it an odd task, but he agrees.
suddenly, he is dropped in the desert. he walks and walks for hours, trying to find food or water or any sense of civilisation. he starts to think it's a game that the egyptian gods are playing on him - making a roman demigod die all over again just to laugh at him.
he gets knocked out cold. he wakes up in what looks like a tomb. standing around him are several of these egyptian spirits that iris was talking about, all laughing at him, throwing drink at him, making fun of how supple and pale his skin is - marks of roman privilege, they say. it is the first time that people have made him out to be inferior as a warrior.
then she walks in. she's different from the other spirits. the spirit labourers stop gallivanting around him and go silent as she enters. she is hauntingly beautiful: long, silky dark chocolate hair, almond-shaped black eyes, intricate gold jewels woven through her hair and her clothes. she's like cleopatra incarnate. except stunningly scary.
'what are you doing here, roman?' 'change of scenery.' 'funny.' 'thank you.' 'i don't like funny.' jason isn't sure whether he's allowed to say why he's there, especially if it's a matter of life or death for him. so he chooses the safe option: not to say anything. 'i left my camp.' 'and wandering around the desert was the second best option?' 'seemed it.' 'you have no loyalty.' 'i only have loyalty. just not to romans or greeks. not to the people who kill me everyday. i could to you, though.' 'how do you know i won't kill you either?' 'i don't. but if you do, i'll be one of them.' he nods his head to the spirits. 'not a bad fate.' 'you seriously want to join?' 'i do.' she thinks it over for a long while, watching him with intensity. he matches her. in the roman world, everybody thought he was the intense one. 'okay,' she says. the corner of jason's lip turns up slightly. one of the spirits pipes up: 'okay? okay? he's roman.' 'precisely. it's what cleopatra would have done.'
spirits and her all have dinner together. he's stuck with the labourer spirits because he has to build himself up the ranks. one of them reveals to him that she's the daughter of iris and a mortal. he says that's impossible. there's no such thing as demigods in the egyptian world - only partnerships, hosts, like sadie kane. they tell him that she's the only one. and that she's here to lead them in preserving the pyramids and the legacy of the egyptian gods. the whole of the egyptian world rests on her shoulders.
they steal jewels back from thieves lurking around the pyramids. they re-mummify and look after previous pharaohs. jason slowly but surely starts to gain the trust of the spirits around him. but with her? nothing. she gives him every dirty job, every job that doesn't require him to use any of his godly abilities. she does it on purpose, he thinks - to make him an example. to make him earn it, without using his jupiter name.
they have these little moments. he falls for her fast. he thinks he was always a little bit in love with her, but it comes crashing down onto him one night as she talks about her duty to her people, her culture. she starts to remind him so much of himself in that way. he can't but want the best for her - want her to embrace her human side and leave this place, where her duty to her culture surpasses her duty to herself. so he tells her:
'you're forgetting that you're human.' 'that's not worth remembering.' 'why not?' 'it's not useful to my duty to be human.' 'it's not a matter of duty. that's just what you are. isis is your mother, yes. but your father - do you not think about who he is?' she laughs shortly. 'my father. heritage like that is trivial. i forget how soft you romans are.' 'but your mother's heritage isn't trivial? it's so significant that it dictates everything you do for the rest of your life? that is something you're okay with.' 'yes.' 'every friend you've ever known is dead. a spirit. that is something you're okay with.' 'you are way out of line, jason grace.' 'you should want more.' 'no, i shouldn't. i wouldn't expect you to understand. you left your camp to come here. i put my duty above any selfish desires. this is it for me.' 'it wasn't for me. i found you.' 'you found me,' she scoffs. 'maybe i am selfish. but if i can afford to be selfish then so can you.' 'what does that mean?' 'come with me.' 'what?' 'to camp. to meet demigods like you. to meet real people - people like us - ' 'you are beyond out of line. hear my words, jason grace, because i won't repeat myself. this is my home. this is my family. duty is family. i would never leave it behind - especially not alongside some flippant blond jupiter boy. you wave the wind around, but you know nothing of real, honest work. and to speak of leaving? after we have accepted you, helped you? there is so much more that you have to learn here. it is not the other way around. and if you don't want to learn, then i will kill you. i will kill you so many times that you cannot return. the spirits that you don't believe are real people - i can make you smaller, emptier, more lifeless than them. but i don't have to. the way you act proves that you already are.'
then jason reveals it to her. that he died and came back because her mother resurrected him. that her mother made him promise to help the spirits move on. he asks her why isis would want him to make the spirits move on if her daughter was supposed to be here alone. he says that it is time for her to move on too. she smacks him and walks away.
at this point, jason hasn't made it explicity clear to her that he's in love with her. but the things he does show it - to an extreme degree. even when she's extremely annoyed with him and avoiding him. he watches her every move with such gentleness, to the point where the spirits are making jokes about it to her. usually she complains about the state of cleanliness of the statues of isis and other egyptian gods, but jason polishes them everyday without fail, even if she isn't going to pass that corridor or that room.
the spirits make comments about this to her, but she shrugs them off. it becomes harder and harder for her to ignore him. to watch him make the spirits laugh. to watch him fly to the top of two opposing pyramids and plant flags, encouraging the spirits to play some greek game of 'capture the flag.' at dinner, he speaks of his war stories, the times he spoke back to the roman and greek gods, the times he obeyed them. he speaks of those he loves and those he lost. he speaks of the bestfriend that he died before getting the chance to see again. they watch him intently. and all he does is watch her.
it would be impossible to ignore the way everyone is falling in love with him.
that's what makes it so difficult for her to agree with him - that it's best for them to all move on. everything seems so perfect the way it is. and to say goodbye to them, to pull jason away from them with her selfish thoughts of leaving, to avoid her duty to her home - the thoughts make her heart sink to her stomach.
he makes her heart sink to her stomach.
'you're distracting everyone. i caught a thief while everyone was playing that awful game.' 'a thief? or a tourist looking around?' 'same thing.' 'what are you protecting, y'n?' she stands there, her brow furrowing slightly at his words. his eyes, those familiar storm-grey eyes, seem to pierce through her, and for the briefest of moments, she feels as though she might be stripped bare of all her carefully constructed walls. 'artefacts,' she says shortly. 'artefacts,' he repeats slowly. she grits her teeth, already turning to storm off. 'you are insufferable, jason grace.' he pulls her back. 'i'm not the insufferable one. you're the one making everyone perform duties that don't have to be performed. they have people who preserve these pyramids, y'n. let down the mist and let them.' she turns back around viciously. 'you think this is performative. you think what we do here doesn't mean anything. but it is you that's done this - made it nothing. you came here and turned it all upside down. you make them question their duty. you let them - ' 'have fun?' 'you let them forget.' 'nobody will forget. they can remember, and move on.' 'you - you - it's always you with this moving on stuff. nobody wants to move on. i don't want to move on. i'm content. i'm happy.' 'sure seems like it.' 'the only time i'm not happy is when i'm around you. when your annoying lightningy roman little face is in front of me, trying to tell me what to do, acting all better than me. if you want to move on so badly, then go. leave. i won't even bother trying to kill you if you do - i don't want your body resting anywhere near my ancestors.' 'not without you.' 'why?' she shouts, exasperated. jason pulls her back by the elbow, forcing her to face him. 'because i care about you.'
he kisses her. she groans and pulls away, anger in her eyes. he lets go of her elbow and clenches his jaw, staring at her lips. he won't make another move. her lip quivers. she smashes her lips against his. all of her emotions are let out, and she gives in. she gives into him, into the idea of moving on, into the new dawn. tears fall down her cheeks as she kisses him. gently, he pulls back. he watches as she breaks down - years and years of walls falling to the ground. he pulls her into his chest, stroking her hair.
it's the start of a long road for them, but they're doing it.
jason's eyes soften at the sky. it never rains in the desert, but it does now.
he was going to see his best friend again. his family. and he was going to bring his favourite addition.

facts about the pulse nightclub shooting, omar mateen, and related things bc why not:
- omar chose pulse as his target at random. his initial plan was to attack disney springs, but after scouting the location, he ultimately decided against it, likely due to the amount of security. in fact, there is footage of him walking around disney springs unarmed a few hours before the pulse attack!
- after leaving disney springs, he searched “downtown orlando nightclubs.” from his car. when he did, eve orlando and pulse were the first to pop up. he initially decided to drive to eve, then to pulse, then back to eve, and finally back to pulse, ultimately choosing to stay there. nobody knows why.
- it took the police a total of three hours after arriving at pulse to finally engage and neutralize mateen, who was hiding in the bathroom the entire time.
- his dad seddique mateen is a fucking FRAUD and i hate him. also he has a youtube page that’s still up to this day, where he claims to be afghanistans president in exile.
- the mosque omar attended was burned down. initially, this was framed as retaliation for the pulse nightclub shooting, but the person who did it had no idea omar attended there, he was simply an extreme islamophobe.
- he was obsessed with the idea of becoming a police officer.
- he got accepted into a corrections officer training program at indian river state college in october 2006 but was involuntarily dismissed less than a year later for falling asleep in class and on the shooting range, arriving late, having many unexcused absences, and asking a classmate, just a few days after the virginia tech shooting, “if i bring a gun to school, would you tell anyone?”
- he obtained both of the guns he used during the shooting legally.
- he earned an associates degree in criminal justice technology in 2006.
- he claimed to be apart of hezbollah, had family in al qaeda, said he was going to join the muslim brotherhood, and then during the shooting, he pledged allegiance to the isis. (which i’ve learned are or were often at odds with each other, meaning he had no idea what he was talking about. pick one, man!)
- he seemed to prefer older women. in testimony from a woman he had an affair with, who was much older than him, he apparently claimed to be 40 (he was only 29 when he died) (crazy that she believed him though, he just looks old as shit i guess. mustve been the roids).
- he abused steroids, according to his ex-wife, sitora yusufiy.
- omar was investigated twice by the fbi before the shooting. the first time was due to his acquaintance with moner mohammad abu-salha (one of the names he mentions in his 911 call) the first american-born suicide bomber to die in the syrian civil war. they attended the same mosque. the second investigation was sparked by omar’s claims that he was affiliated with various islamic groups. both investigations ultimately closed with no charges against mateen.
- he used to skateboard.
- he had three sisters and was the youngest.
- he was known throughout his childhood to have behavioral issues. he would say provocative things, could never sit still, and was constantly seeking attention from other students. he also got into a lot of fights.
- he was a misogynist.
- he was extremely abusive to both of his wives, both physically and mentally.
- omar had a son with noor salman, who was only 3 when mateen carried out the shooting.
- before leaving his wife for the final time on the day of the shooting, omar claimed he was going to hang out with his friend “nemo.” when nemo testified at noor salman’s trial (omar’s widow), he said that omar often used his name as a cover story to hide the fact that he was meeting other women.
- according to his autopsy, he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
- while hiding in the bathroom of pulse nightclub, he searched up on google about the shooting he was committing, searched how to spell “allegiance”, and even posted on facebook.

manuscript search tag game
@oh-no-another-idea you have been very reliably tagging me in lots of tag games while i have been Not Doing Them, so lemme roll a couple of these word finds together into one Big Tag Game
first up, from Hurricane draft 3, we have race, why, heist, square
race
“I’m running out of patience, dear,” he said. “Will you take me up on my offer, or not?” His voice was still as calm as before. It gave no hint that he had just half-strangled his first mate. Aella’s temper was beginning to boil over, and her heart still raced from the adrenaline. Laila had better be alright. The thought gave her back a tiny shred of determination. “No.” She lifted her chin. He said nothing for a second. “Fine. Let me know when you change your mind. I won’t ask again.” Doesn’t matter. Ma is—she’s coming, isn’t she? She has to be. He turned to leave. His foot nudged the pile of chains. Aella’s heart skipped a beat. She’d dared to hope he might have forgotten them. Stupid. He crouched to pick up the manacles and key.
why
Tempest nodded with satisfaction. “Better. I want to cover as much water as we can before nightfall.” “Now will you tell me why we need to?” “I thought you knew about the kraken.” Aella frowned. “Kraken? What kraken?” “I’ve definitely told you about this. There’s a kraken in these oceans. I thought it lived nearer to Kings Cove, but I suppose it moves.” “Since when?” “Since forever. I told you years ago. You think I wouldn’t tell you about something like this?” Aella cast her mind back. Really? “Wait, that—I thought you were joking!” And alright, maybe Tempest had said it on more than one occasion… but had she been paying attention? Probably not.
heist
square “Right, yeah.” She glanced up at the sky. “Damn it. It is starting to rain.” As if on cue, a raindrop hit Theo squarely on the top of the head. Then two more, then a soft pattering of them. These were followed by what felt like a curtain of water, though not nearly as bad as the storm. He ducked beneath a protruding roof. Aella joined him and tugged at his arm. “We have to go, come on!” “Can you see in this rain?” “Eh, it’s just a shower.” She threw the new shirt over her head and stepped out from under the cover. “I can see enough. And it’s not far.” She took his hand and began to run. Despite the rain that quickly drenched them both, she was laughing, a bright sound full of joy. Exhilarated and out of breath, Theo found himself laughing too.
and from Dragonsong draft 2/3, we have lock, fasten, middle, blood
lock
“Surely you can unlock it with magic,” said Isi, entering the room properly. SB scoffed. “You’d think. I can pick locks, but it’s a tiny bit more difficult to un-melt one.” “I see.” Isi crossed the room and crouched to look at the chest. Wood, wrapped in bands of metal, with its lid padlocked closed. The keyhole itself was a twisted mess of melted metal, but the rest of the lock seemed unharmed. She glanced up at SB. “Fortunately, there are other ways around this.” “Such as?” An iron poker leaned against the wall beside the chest. Isi grabbed it, stood, and drove it sharply down against the body of the lock. The lock gave way and clattered to the floor. “Ah,” said SB. “So that’s what they teach you in knight school,” said Sierra.
fasten (and bonus middle)
Isi nodded. “Are you ready?” “Ready as I’ll ever be.” He glanced back at where the wagon was, his mouth forming indistinct, silent words. “We have about a minute before it gets here. Maybe you could ride out from here, act like you were coming from further down the road?” “That sounds sensible.” She waited a few breaths longer; they didn’t want the wagon to stop too far from Robin. Then she led her horse into the middle of the road, and tried to look surprised by the wagon. Unlike most Crown vehicles, it was not painted white. But it was escorted by two knights ahead of it, their white-and-gold surcoats catching the last of the sun’s light. The outside door was fastened with two padlocks.
middle
She had been told that a stab behind the right front leg would kill it. Fortunately, the dragon’s right side faced Isi. As she reached the middle of the room, she readied her sword, picturing the blow in her mind. Was her sword sharp enough to pierce scales? She hoped so. Something slammed into her shield, lifting her bodily off the ground. Her back slammed into the wall with a crash of metal on stone. When she landed, her legs crumpled beneath her, and she hit the ground just as hard, her torso a dull ball of pain. She pushed herself to one elbow, gasping for breath. The dragon’s long, spiked tail swayed as though looking for another target. So that was what had hit her. It had probably cracked a rib or two. She forced herself to take a deep breath, despite the sharp pain that lanced through her chest, and took stock. Her shield had cracked down the middle, barely holding itself together. And she had no sword. Wherever it was, it was no longer in her hand. The dragon clambered off its nest, its movement slow and careful, rising on its hind legs to its full height. Normally, Isi was among the tallest in the room. On the ground, weaponless and breathless, she felt suddenly very small.
blood
Face to face with Princess Daphne, Isi could not have felt more out of place. Princess Daphne’s white dress was spotless, her jewellery shining, with not a hair loose. Her eyes tracked Isi keenly. She was nowhere near Isi’s height, but her face nonetheless held a quiet, stern authority. And even so, she held her baby with nothing but gentleness. Isi suddenly felt every inch of dried blood still clinging to her skin, heard every minute clink of her armour, and the scrape of mud beneath her boots. The woman in front of her was a princess and a mother, noble and gentle. Isi was a warrior, a brute, made to destroy and not to build. Princess Daphne’s gaze flickered to the baby in her arms, then back to Isi, and there was understanding in her eyes. Isi felt it too. Different as they were, they both knew what it was to protect with everything they had.

Playing Ace Attorney, Rise from the Ashes, part 1
"It's not Edgeworth who was murdered though."
Careful, be fucking CAREFUL with what you say, Phoenix...
"I am not accepting new cases."
Why?? Do you have better things to do??
Oh, so Mia used to do anything to get what she wants, "anything" too? Hmmm...
"That probably was why she was attracted to me."
Sooooooooooorrryyyyyy??????????????
"You know, attorneys aren't supposed to examine crime scenes."
But, but... I'm gonna slap you so hard, Phoenix!
"Put it in your pocket!" "Sounds like theft to me."
BITCH!!! That's what you've been doing ALL the time with NO second thought and NO regret and what basically made you win your cases and NOW you're having legal qualms??
I'm going to slap you!
*gasp*! Or maybe Edgey has been giving him basic classes of lawyering during these mysterious two months? Is it the better thing to do than your job, Fee-Fee??👀💞
Phoenix being his old whiney bitch again and Ema telling him to shut the fuck off. ^^
"You know, I aced a 97 on my test!" "Too bad they don't have a test for common sense!"
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Queen Bitch Fee-Fee's baaack!
Oh, the Queen Bitch likes to be stepped on by another queen, huh?
Ok, did Lana Skye bedded all the sexy ladies of that city?
Don't tell me. The "boyfriend" is Larry, isn't it??
"Very useful. Not."
Bitch, why are you suddenly such a bitchy bitch again, anyway??
Hm, so Phoenix is the "evilest lunches of all".
Oh no.
My baby Edgey.😭
How must he have felt when he was awarded "the best prosecutor"? Two months after learning that ALL of his prosecuting (mentored by the killer of his father and who manipulated him all his life) had been, indeed twisted and ugly?
My baby... Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to gift him that??
"Wright? Still rummaging through my life? You know, I like it."❤️ "That voice..."💘
That voice that caresses and blesses my ears!!💞🥰
"Are you sure you should be showing clues to Mr Edgeworth?" "I don't give a fuck!! He's my boyfriend now! I'll show him anything, Ema! Anything..."
*showing the badge like an annyoing motherfucker again* ;p
"I once dreamed to be a defense attorney too..."
Nooo!!😭 What have I done?? I've made him sad! NOOO!! 😭😭
Can't I kiss him to make him feel better??
Rumors?? Babe, you never cared about the stupid rumors about you before! ...... ....... oh.💔
"Go ahead, Wright! You think I did it, don't you?" "So you've come to laugh at the fallen prosecutor? Then laugh. Laugh!"
No! Nooo!! Never!! What would FEE-FEE of all people do that??? Why do you think he hates you?? 😭😭💔
No baby!! Stop! Stop that self-flogging!! And just let yourself be hugged and loved!
Wait. So defense attorneys can defend themselves but prosecutors can't prosecute themselves?? Why?
Is this a timeline where it's traditional to treat defense attorneys better than prosecutors? Like defense attorney are societally superior to prosecutors?
Nooo... my baby thinks he was betrayed, framed and manipulated by a mentor he admired again! 😭 Takumi, will you stop torturing our baby Edgey just for ONE case????
Ok, an Edgeworth headbutt in Phoenix' face please!
"You must be proud to be the King of Prosecutors!"
But I... I will assassinate you, Phoenix. I will SO fucking assassinate you!
Oh and now you want to nap on Edgey's sofa!!
And Ema starts to get wet with her fantasies of Edgey. I can't blame her, I do the exact same.
"He doesn't seem concerned about his award."
No shit?? And why that, in your opinion??
"I place little faith in my memory." My baby 😭
"Looks like this guy was absent the day they gave out brains and good luck."
B-b-but.. what a douche!! This isn't being a bitch anymore, this is being a complete DOUCHEBAG, Phoenix!
Why are you such a spiteful CUNT today??
Gumshoe was "kicked out of the Criminal Affairs"?? Hmmm....
"What's going on with Edgeworth?" WHAT'S GOING ON WITH EDGEWORTH???
Feenie, have you fucking DEMENTIA joined to your cunt-isis???
No,... Edgey is getting bullied now?? Isn't this trial where he's being framed by a mentor again enough?? Wasn't Von Karma enough????
NO! NO! NO!!
Like, do his colleagues have fucking dementia too?? Did they already forget that Edgey was declared innocent, framed and manipulated all along, all his fucking life?? By the killer of his father?? While he repeated he was guilty and "deserved to be punished"?? Or that he's been living with a fucking PTSD since he was fucking 9??
And he "just wants to snatch the position of Chief Prosecutor", like WHAT?? Or maybe he wants to throw his jail his other mentor who ALSO lied to him and ALSO tried to frame him for murder???
Are lawyers in future Japan all brainless and heartless fuckers??
Ema: "Officer Marshall! Shut the fuck up!!"
Yeah, and don't go badmouthing my baby Edgey, you fucker!
"He was unbeatable. That is until he met you."
Fee-Fee's heart:
"The rumors lead to one person."
Who?? WHO's that umpteenth fucker who dares to hurt my sweet, baby, fluffy Edgey????
"You shouldn't believe your clients, Mr Wright." "Miss Skye: shut the fuck up!"
"I have to discover the truth all by myself!"
YAY! Fee-Fee is finally committing to be a big boy!!🥳
Without needing the help of teenage girl or of dead person!

🌌 Sci-fi AU?
[ Isi trying to make AU's // Accepting! ]
// Sci-fi isn't my favorite setting, and I don't really have much media to get ideas from that I actively watched. My knowledge of sci-fi comes mostly from big movies/series like Star Wars and Star Trek so it's gonna be a mix between the two of them I suppose ^^ Also I write these more like something like a prompt bc thats cool and gives some insight I guess? So please bear with my limited knowledge :')
Her ship is small. Nothing for a big crew. One, or at best two, people could live on it. Not a big crew. And that's how Lilli prefered it anyway. A small ship is more easily to miss, in battle as well as when escaping. And she was good enough of a pilot for it. Still, she had paid good money to have a device built in that made her small ship almost invisible. That's when she gave it it's name. 'Schatten'. Not creative, because it just meant 'Shadow' in her native language, but she found it fitting enough.
The woman set the course to the next space-station, before switching on the auto-pilot. The path she had choosen should not have any dangers on it, so it should be fine to take her eyes away for a moment. She still had to look for a job after all. While she did had some credits left, she still needed money to get fuel and supplies. Her next travel is gonna be a long one after all.
So the woman grabs her tablet, and opens up a site to check any kind of available job on the station she was heading to. She wasn't exactly picky when it came to how to earn money. At this point Lilli did any job from being a bounty hunter, to a bodyguard, smuggler, killer or even spy. And wasn't she made for some of these tasks? After a while she decides for a simple job on which she has to spy on some dude. Eh, should be fine.
Though her journey to the station will take a while still, so she had quite some time to kill. So, she switched away from the job site, after applying to the spy-task of course, and to the news from all over the galaxy. There were some articles about some big space-fight between offical goverment ships, and space pirates. Some smugglers who got caught. A new alien species has joined some union... Nothing what really interested her. But one article caught her attention. 'Another black hole has appeared! Is this the end of the universe?' Said the headline of said article. Quite the clickbait, given that, while there had been several black holes appeared recently, they had been rather small, and were able to be contained. They were right about it being strange though. Especially because they had appeared quite close to populated places. Stations, planets.
Lilli's eyes narrow as she reads the article. People only thought it was a strange natural incidence... She knows it isn't though. She has seen this before. The woman knows exactly who's doing it was. He was still on it. Trying to find a way to manipulate dark matter. And while she was sure he still hadn't found a save way to do so, he had made progress... It means she has to find him quickly, and finally end this. But he was hiding well...
She closes the pad then, and places it to the site, before staring at nothing for some time. Then she slowly raises her hand, with the palm facing up... Almost immediately a tiny version of a black hole floated just a few centimeters abover her palm. Lilli stares at it for a moment, before closing her fist around it, and suffocating it again.
He wanted to use dark matter to make the perfect weapon... Seems like he really thought that she was dead.
A sigh left her then, and the pilot went back to flying the ship after turning off the auto-pilot. She needs to get her mind off things for a big apparently...
Man idk if this is good. Her personality is a mix between main verse and vigilante AU tbh
#based it also a little bit on the vigilante AU actually#instead of shadow manipulation its dark matter manipulation#ONLY because I think that sounds more sci-fi like fgbfh#ask#anon

Prequel draft
So this is to explain what exactly happened in my fic that forced Khonshu to resort to "damnatio memoriae" on himself.
This is also a prequel to my fic, before Khonshu isekai-ed himself.
This takes place sometime during the Doctor Strange film Multivers of Madness, with the Darkhold, specifically, the manifestation of the collective "evil" within the Darkhold.
Before that, they were fighting a corrupted Wanda. But in this timeline, Wanda still didn't snap out of the Darkhold's influence and was so corrupted that she was completely taken over by the Spirit of the Darkhold itself. She is less of "Wanda Maximoff" and the "Scarlet Witch" and more of the "Collective Power of the Darkhold personified".
She was dangerous but not in the whole "She can defeat the gods". It's more like, Wanda is releasing so much "Isfet" or Chaos energy as the vessel of the Darkhold, that it is starting a chain reaction and causing other Chaos-based creatures of mythology to stir wildly, like Apep the Primordial Chaos Snake. A Chaos being even greater than Wanda, because while Wanda can manipulate Chaos energy and still retain her humanity, Apep is the full destructive force of Chaos itself given form and is even older than the Darkhold. Other gods in other pantheons are also alarmed by the high influx of Chaos energy as their own respective Chaos counterparts and other demons are getting way more active than usual.
But they are, as usual, very late in their actions. Khonshu was one of the first Deities to foresee the dangers of a fully corrupted Wanda who couldn't snap out of it. He ordered Marc to go to Tibet and assist Doctor Strange and co. They also met with America Chavez and Wong.
They help defend Kamir Taj for a while. In the meantime, Wong is trying to find the Book of Vishanti, the opposite of the Darkhold to find a way to defeat Wanda. Strange is also busy trying to keep Wanda from getting America.
Khonshu though, is very familiar with Chaos magic after spending many millennia fighting Apep, the primordial force of Chaos itself in the Egyptian Pantheon. So, he is able to utilize his experience to slowdown Wanda greatly.
But there is problem since while Khonshu did fight Apep to protect his father at a near daily basis, he never fights alone. He always fights with a team of other gods, like Isis, Set, Horus and other gods. So, he is still at a huge disadvantage and outnumbered that super Darkhole-powered Wanda can overpowering him. Even when other god's and magic-related creatures join in the fight, including Bast who decided to break Osiris' decree and fight alongside her brother. It's pretty much very late to the partly.
Wong did find a spell to in the Book of Vishanti to stop Wanda. But the problem is that Wanda's body itself is making the Darkhold stronger as it's a mix of Wanda's natural power from the Infinity Stone and the Darkhold mystical energy.
Basically, the infinity stone energy within Wanda's body is preventing the Book of Vishanti's spell from fully taking effect because it's not from the Darkhold. It's from space.
This is where Khonshu comes it since he managed to figure out a way to weaken Wanda, by exorcising the Darkhold itself from her body. Separating Wanda from the Darkhold.
His legend is him exorcising a demon from a princess, so he can do the same with Wanda.
But it will weaken him too much from the effort, and the Darkhold will now just be a full-on separate spirit fully independent from Wanda, and will look for a new host.
And the Darkhold will go to the closest available living being, which is Khonshu's Avatar. Marc Spector.
Khonshu can't risk that, but he also needs to stop Wanda. So, he made some changes to his plan, he asks that Bast get Marc Spector and Wanda's unconscious body as far away from the battlefield once the exorcism is done. Wanda is still alive but weak from the whole thing. Khonshu, though will have to face the now free Manifestation of the Darkhold alone.
Khonshu also got Bast and other sorcerers to create a powerful barrier around them. Which Khonshu, inside with the Darkhold then uses his timey wimey moon powers to literally slow-down time to a near complete halt. Warping the time and space inside the barrier to create a dimensional pocket prison that is intended to freeze the Darkhold as much as he can with the help of the other sorceres and gods present. All the same time, Wong is trying to understand the Book of Vishanti and find the right spell for him to use.
The barrier's main purpose isn't to hold the Darkhold though. It's not strong enough to do it in the first place, it is to keep Khonsu's timey wimey thing contained in one point and keep it from spreading out.
But Khonshu is already weak from the exorcism effort and can't keep this up as the Darkhold starts to break through Khonshu's dimensional time-space warp and the barrier. Khonshu anticipated this too and calculated that it is not enough for Wong and Strange to get the Book of Vishanti ready.
So, he did one last trick, which is the suicidal Damnatio Memoriae spell. It is designed to wipe anything and anyone from existence and remove it from the records of that Universe itself.
The issue is that it will never work on the Darkhold.
The Darkhold is pure evil manifested, it is too abstract and conceptual to be erased. And they can't fully erase the concept of evil without destroying the concept of Good entirely. And with it, the entire world, humanity itself and every living creature. The cosmos will collapse in itself when the concept of "evil" is gone and destroy itself to fix the massive imbalance in the universe.
It's practically useless in defeating the Darkhold, but what Khonshu only needs is to weaken greatly again since a huge part of it is blinked out of existence. It will take hours before it regains its strength again, but it is more than enough for Wong and Strange. As they only need a few minutes they need to complete the spell from the Book of Vishanti.
Outside, Marc was knocked-out as he is trying very hard to get to the barrier. Practically going ballistic and angry at Khonshu for leaving him in the middle of a battle.
Khonshu also got Bast to make promise and look after his Avatar in his inevitable absence. Bast knows that Khonshu won't make it and is pissed that he is resorting to using a dangerous spell that even Thoth refused to touch after creating it in the first place. But she also knows that Khonshu's efforts are needed to help Strange, so she took Marc under her wing at her brother's request.

They fell asleep next to each other. Yet the voice that woke Isi up the next morning, way too early for her to even register the time, wasn't Rory's.
"Come on, you should already be dressed, Isidora!" It was Adelyn, wearing workout clothes. And the other side of the bed was cold.

"What do you mean dressed? Where are we going?"
"Remember what Rory said? We're on training schedule now."
"Which means?" Isi asked, her voice cracking with sleep-deprivation. She knew what it meant, she'd been told. Somehow, she hadn't expected waking up at 5am to be so hard.

Isi really was a creature of the night, had never been able to function while the sun was still on its way up. Yet, she quickly put on clothes and headed out for an early morning run with the teenager. She was grateful to Adelyn who seemed to pace herself to stay by her side the whole time.

They ran for longer than Isi had expected, the sun peaking out from behind the trees by the time they were back at the house. And Ade didn't stop at the door, continuing all the way to the bunker instead.
"Lux is waiting for you downstairs."
"Oh." Isi hesitated.

She hadn't realised Lux would be the second person she'd see in the morning. But she couldn't let herself overthink this. She wasn't scared. She couldn't afford to be. So she entered the bunker, chin high. And indeed, found Lux waiting.
"Hi. Are you warmed up enough or do you need to stretch?"

Unsure what the right answer was, Isi simply said: "I'm good."
Without another word, Lux turned around and walked through a glass paneled door, leaving it open. "Take the beanie off, it'll get in your way." They ordered, putting a yoga mat away. As she was obeying, Isi looked around.

The room was clearly a sparring space. Blood and scratches were covering pretty much all surfaces. A shelf in the back stored some towels and exercise equipment. Fear twisted Isi's stomach. How hard did they fight? How much was one allowed to hurt the other? And would Lux even respect Rory's orders?

She cleared her throat, ready to ask if anyone else was going to join them, hoping to get some backup in case things went awry. But before she'd said anything, Lux gestured for her to come closer. Then, tone neutral, said:
"We're not gonna be in contact today. You have to learn the basics first."

Isi couldn't help a relieved sigh, which seemed to make Lux smirk. She thought of asking if she could go make a coffee first, but didn't dare disturb the practice that had clearly already started, as Lux struck a pose, telling her how it would protect her from frontal attacks.

They spent over three hours learning defensive poses. Lux taught her how to block, trick someone to be off balance, stand your ground and when to give in. By the end, Isi could only think of how sweaty she was and coffee was now number two in her list of priorities. Shower would come first.

"Right. I think that'll do for today. Your sister is waiting for her turn anyway. Tomorrow, we'll start on offensives. Still no contact though, don't worry."
Isi didn't know if it was contempt or amusement painted on Lux's face, but she decided she didn't have enough energy to care either way.

She still stopped on the way out of the room though, something in her wanting to thank the wolf for their in-depth instructions, the lack of mockery and the overall patience they'd demonstrated. It was going against what Isi had known of them so far.
She opened her mouth, then closed it again.

Why give them another occasion to sneer at her? It would probably just come off as rude to say out loud that she'd thought they'd be a bad teacher anyway. Shaking her head, she headed out, crossing paths with Idrina. The fierce look on her face instinctively made Isi feel like a proud sister.

AMAZON CHALLENGE
Chapter 3:
Artemis- Kareena did it! Glinda Faba and Leroy joined us. We have a Matriarch. Leroy, on the other hand, is very handsome. Your genes and mine will produce a very beautiful heiress. Unfortunately, I can't procreate yet. My sister hasn't found her partner yet. On the other hand, this could end up being a good thing. Since Lady Roxanne is pregnant, I will be able to test Glinda's efficiency. In general, everything is going well. But I still miss something in my life, euphoria, music, dancing…
Isis- My sister has been pressuring me more and more to have an heiress. Even more so now that we have a Matriarch. I've been hearing rumors about a deadly werewolf named Greg, if I have a daughter with him, she will be just as powerful. All I need to do is locate him and win a fight against him. I also want to expand my Court since Roxanne is temporarily unusable, as she carries Hercules' baby. There are rumors about vampires in the desert. I'll check tomorrow.
Kareena- I finally completely turned into a vampire. That helped me win the fight against Leroy. In the euphoria, I fought again, with a nobody called Stuart, now he is also our hired hand. Even though he only recently left, I miss Hercules. I know I shouldn't feel like an Amazon, but I can't stop it. Maybe an heiress will fill the need I feel.
Ophelia- The first baby is on the way. If it is a girl, it will be raised by the Matriarch, Glinda. If it's a boy, I'll find a way to take him to Hercules. Both have the same function, transforming these children into an army of wizards. However, if these children were born vampires… Well, that would be a problem. Luckily, I think I can find some books that talk about this. I'm so proud!
WELCOME TO THE CLAN, MISS GLINDA FABA, THE MATRIARCH
traits: Impulsive, Neurotic and Family-Oriented
occult: Spellcaster
function: Glinda Faba serves as the Matriarch, a wise and nurturing figure responsible for raising and guiding the children of the Amazons. Her role extends beyond mere education; she imparts essential cultural, magical, and ethical teachings, ensuring that the future generations carry forth the traditions and values of the courts. Glinda acts as a stabilizing force, fostering unity and harmony among the Amazons.

"True true. We all heard the crazy stories of what these young ones can do. But Vanity's heir? Oh my, her stories with her team are crazy." Jar said yet he was shocked about it seeing Zeno nod his head as well. It was insane given the stories.
"Well, I do hope someone does help her. That sword is powerful. A very ancient weapon from old times....I remember when it was forged too. Such a long time..." Maranda mutters yet she was looking down.
"Now now Maranda, old history still comes and goes.." Isis said with a light chuckle.
"Though, her cousin is strong but his heart still cares for his cousin..maybe he will go through more training in the future too.." Lilith said to the group. "But I'm sure he will not mind it....However, even so..what of Alastor?" lilith asked.
"Hmmm, from the last time I heard, he's doing something real quick. I don't know if he would join us..." Oracle said. "But knowing him he tends to make a appearance." she said.
"Indeed I do. making grand appearances are pretty fun don't ya think?"
A dark black and green mist shows before showing someone walking in while humming. "Hello hello hello! It seems everyone is here as well..." Alastor chuckled to look at the other contractors. "What brings everyone here?"
"Ah. Speak of the devil.." Zeno said.
"You didn't miss much Alastor, just some small talk here and there.. "Oracle said.
"Is that so? Sounds like something serious or if one of the youths did something again?" he asked.
"From what the others tell us or from what Senkai told us...it...was pretty steep. Really really...steep. I never even heard of such an amount." Lilith drinks some of her drink but her eyes were closed.
"Okay then what's the price!?" Jar said getting silent about it but he was curious. She sighed but she looks. She only shows a final document from Vanity himself to show the price to everyone. The others looks but some spits their drinks out coughing.
"Holy shit that much!?" Zeno and Maranda said in shock with eyes wide seeing the very large number on the bill.
"Yes, at first it would have been more if the DBT didn't pay the fractions first.....even from hearing one fraction's base was destroyed." isis mutters to see this. A flick of her nine tails behind her.
"Even so..geez......someone could go into deep dept from this.." lirrako grumbled yet hearing this made her really shocked.
"Now now everyone lets just panic here. I don't know if anyone would have such a large sum of money but.....I'm still shocked hearing that the youths went to Vanity to help pay for it..even if it is Vanity's daughter-"
"That's because that sword of hers caused it!" Jar argues back. "Even thinking of the damages that sword has done could give someone a headache."

Shamima Begum, who fled the UK and joined the Islamic State group, was smuggled into Syria by an intelligence agent for Canada.
Files seen by the BBC show he claimed to have shared Ms Begum's passport details with Canada, and smuggled other Britons to fight for IS.
Ms Begum's lawyers are challenging the removal of her citizenship, arguing she was a trafficking victim.
Canada and the UK declined to comment on security issues.
Ms Begum was 15 when she and two other east London schoolgirls - Kadiza Sultana, 16, and 15-year-old Amira Abase - travelled to Syria to join the IS group in 2015.
At the main Istanbul bus station, the girls met Mohammed Al Rasheed, who would facilitate their journey to IS-controlled Syria.
A senior intelligence officer, at an agency which is part of the global coalition against IS, has confirmed to the BBC that Rasheed was providing information to Canadian intelligence while smuggling people to IS.
The BBC has obtained a dossier on Rasheed that contains information gathered by law enforcement and intelligence, as well as material recovered from his hard drives, which provide extraordinary detail about how he operated.
He told authorities that he had gathered information on the people he helped into Syria because he was passing it to the Canadian embassy in Jordan.
Shamima Begum cannot return to UK, court rules
Rasheed, who was arrested in Turkey within days of smuggling Ms Begum to IS, told authorities he had shared a photo of the passport the British schoolgirl was using.
The Metropolitan Police were searching for her, although by the time Canada received her passport details, Ms Begum was already in Syria.
The dossier shows that Ms Begum was moved to Syria through a substantial IS people-smuggling network that was controlled from the group's de-facto capital in Raqqa.
Rasheed was in charge of the Turkish side of this network and facilitated the travel of British men, women and children to IS for at least eight months before he helped Ms Begum and her two friends.
Ms Begum told the BBC's forthcoming I'm Not A Monster podcast: "He organised the entire trip from Turkey to Syria… I don't think anyone would have been able to make it to Syria without the help of smugglers.
"He had helped a lot of people come in… We were just doing everything he was telling us to do because he knew everything, we didn't know anything."
Rasheed kept information about the people he helped, often photographing their ID documents or secretly filming them on his phone.
One recording shows Ms Begum and her friends get out of a taxi and into a waiting car not far from the Syrian border.
Rasheed also gathered information about IS, mapping the locations of the homes of Western IS fighters in Syria, identifying IP addresses and locations of internet cafes in IS-controlled territory, and taking screenshots of conversations he was having with IS fighters.
In one conversation, Rasheed spoke to a man believed to be notorious British IS fighter and recruiter, Raphael Hostey, who says to him: "I need you to work under me. Officially… I want you to help us bring people in."
In a follow-up text, Rasheed asks Hostey: "Can you explain a little, please?"
Hostey says: "Same thing that you're doing now, but you work for us bringing equipment, bringing in brothers and sisters". Mohammed Al Rasheed replies: "I am ready, brother."
Rasheed was arrested in the Turkish city of Sanliurfa not long after he had facilitated the girl's journey to Syria.
In a statement to law enforcement, he said that the reason he had gathered information on everyone he had helped, including Shamima, was because "I was passing this information to the Canadian embassy in Jordan".
Rasheed said that in 2013 he had gone to the Canadian Embassy in Jordan to try to apply for asylum. He said: "They told me they were going to grant me my Canadian citizenship if I collect information about the activities of ISIS."
The BBC has been able to confirm that Rasheed passed in and out of Jordan multiple times between 2013 and his arrest in 2015.
Tasnime Akunjee, the lawyer for the Begum family, said there will be a legal hearing in November to challenge the removal of Ms Begum's citizenship and "one of the main arguments" will be that then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid did not consider that she was a victim of trafficking.
"The UK has international obligations as to how we view a trafficked person and what culpability we prescribe to them for their actions," he said.
Mr Akunjee said it was "shocking" that a Canadian intelligence asset was a key part of the smuggling operation - "someone who is supposed to be an ally, protecting our people, rather than trafficking British children into a war zone".
"Intelligence-gathering looks to have been prioritised over the lives of children," he said.
Shamima Begum is now held in a detention camp in north-east Syria, her citizenship was taken away in 2019 after she emerged from the ashes of the so-called IS caliphate.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said intelligence services needed to be "flexible" and "creative in their approaches" to fight terrorism, but "they are bound by strict rules".
"We will continue to ensure that proper oversight is done, and as necessary look at further steps", he added, while speaking at a press conference in Ottawa.
A Canadian Security Intelligence Service spokesman said he could not "publicly comment on or confirm or deny the specifics of CSIS investigations, operational interests, methodologies or activities".
A British government spokesperson said: "It is our long-standing policy that we do not comment on operational intelligence or security matters."

september 15, 2014 — a day after a theorist attack on the american congress in washington d.c. both of them had seen this happen on the tv, though still in two separate houses. marisa had called to inform him she had something important to tell him and they should meet as soon as possible. her husband, unsurprisingly, had a business to attend in the capital city. once the news of the attack spread all over every news channel on tv, asriel was pretty convinced it was what marisa was going to share. after all they both heard whispers. both from one and the same person — edward coulter. his dear university friend and his lover's husband. he's been discreetly going on and on about the upcoming changes in the us government. asriel, once being an active man in politics, was encouraged to re-enter the former ranks and join a vast project that was going to greatly impact their futures as well as the whole country's. asriel had an important news to tell marisa as well.
the news of agreeing to her husband's proposal a week before he left boston. asriel's decision based on the undeniable tension that told him it was better to find himself in the eye of the storm and be informed first hand. the whole idea of forming an organisation called the sons of jacob. the name itself revolting at best, its ideas unthinkable for most people living in twenty first century. he wasn't informed of what would be the immense operation everyone within the organisation has been whispering about. officially, it was an isis organized action. they both knew, though, it wasn't the case. what he heard just seconds before, though, seemingly had nothing to do with the attack. nothing to do with the shaky politics. nothing to do with curtural changes. and yet it had everything to do with it.
❛ are you sure ? ❜
his hand pressed to his lips, brushed against his growth, taking in the news. it couldn't be happening now. the maternity units have been no more than a ghost for years now and most people would rejoice in the news. i'm pregnant ; the two words everyone in the modern world, all over the globe, wanted to hear. thought it was barely one small battle victory for many of those few lost the war by miscarriage, fatal generic illnesses and cot deaths. they would have gone though it. they could have easily lie the child was edward's. he had no reason to suspect his wife was in love with his old friend for three years now. they could have managed that. . . if not for the dynamic changes. it was all going to go down now. the fanatic plans were bound to become a reality once the most of the parliament members, along with the president, we killed in yesterday's attack. the government that was bound to be silently taken over by sons of jacob, who saw fertility as the most desired and treasurable of resources.
❛ we have to leave. . . i don't care how you will make him believe that you must go back to france — but we cannot stay here now. he cannot find out. ❜

Happy Disability Pride Month!
I saw someone talking about doing the same as last mont with Pride and thought why not? I'm a disabled writer.
Am I, though? It has been so hard for me to join groups and communities because the guidelines are so detailed and I don't always fit, or don't even know if I fit. I don't like labels and it's so hard, but sometimes I need them to understand myself. Still.
I barely know some of the genres I write about. I just know the most known tropes, I don't know which ones I use. I would like to know if I'm disabled.
Being hard of hearing makes me disabled? Living with migraines / headaches 24/7 for six years makes me disabled? Not knowing what's life anymore outside the headaches and the fatigue makes me disabled?
They seem easy questions, but I'm struggling to answer them.
But to not ramble longer, my disabled characters.
I'm still writing all these stories, so they're not yet out there. At different stages, some.
Amayah (Maya), my baby is deaf, from birth. But in her universe, powers exist and hers is about feeling the vibrations of everything, so it kind of seems like she's not deaf at all. But she is, and she struggles.
Markus (Maya) is a psychopath, but is a good guy, I swear. He's working on it, but—it is a disability?
There are probably more from Maya, but they're not at the front of my mind.
Gianna (Vival) is blind. She's from a Digimon fanfic and is thrown into the Digital World alone when her big sister wishes for them to be in a better world, but I'm working on their original story (The Grove of Isis) slowly.
Mimi (Mimi) is... complicated. Depressed. Suicide. It's a pretty heavy story but unfortunately also personal and I need to share it. It's my main project right now.
Goddess, they seem so few, but for the life of me I can't think of all the characters I have right now. And I'm not in the mood to look for them either. This will have to do for now.
