i think it'd be so funny for valerie to try decapitating danny only to then realize that it didn't work bc time and again this girl fails to understand that this boy is basically unkillable
so now she's forced to hold the sides of danny's face so that his head can start reattaching itself to his neck and now this is totally not awkward for either of them

Love on the lake—
Quinn Hughes x Fem!Reader
Request: 🐞 Quinn isn't usually a touchy person but when he gets with the reader he is all over her "Never figured you for this much of a cuddler."
Warnings/notes: It's a cold start, couldn't quite think of a better intro so please ignore that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
End of summer celebration!!
One of Quinn's hands gently held her hips flush to him as he steered the boat, a grin on his face as her hands placed themselves over his on the steering wheel. "You're doing really good," he mumbled into her ear, followed by a kiss on her freckled cheek right before he explained the importance of the water markings. Her back pressed against his toned chest as he taught her how to steer the boat, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth as she nodded at his instructions before he removed her hands and let her take control.
His hands began to roam her sides, sending goosebumps down her warm skin as he began playing with the little red bows on the hips of her bikini bottoms which gained a groan from his brothers in the background who had been tortured with Quinn's affection towards his girlfriend since she arrived in Michigan earlier in the week.
Sometimes, it was as if his brothers ceased to exist the moment she appeared. This, of course, led to many agonizing moments for his younger siblings.
Quinn wasn’t usually one for public displays of affection, especially not around his family. But now as he sat with his girlfriend prettily on his lap in the captain's chair of the boat, his arm wrapped securely around her, he couldn’t help himself.
He was completely, unabashedly, all over her, and he didn’t care who saw it.
Jack and Luke, who were both sprawled out on the opposite side of the boat, couldn’t help but notice the giddiness that seemed to occupy Quinn's demeanour. Jack shot his older brother a look, raising an eyebrow in mock disbelief at his shameless roaming hands.
“Never figured you for this much of a cuddler, Q-ball,” he teased his tone light but with that signature smirk Quinn knew all too well, all the while his girlfriend's face broke out a red flush. Luke chimed in, nudging Jack with his elbow. “Yeah, who knew Quinn had a soft side? What happened to your mysterious act?”
Quinn rolled his eyes but couldn’t wipe the grin off his face as the girl leaned further into his hold, face buried in his neck as she hid the slight embarrassment of being caught.
Normally, Quinn might have been a little annoyed at their jabs, but today he was too content to care. “You guys are just jealous,” he shot back, his thumb absentmindedly tracing circles on her thigh.
She laughed softly, tilting her head to look at him with a smile that made his heart do that weird fluttery thing it always did when she was around. “I didn’t realize I was dating such a softie,” she teased, her voice full of affection and a little sultry as she dipped down to press a kiss to his lips, eliciting a cry of agony from his little brothers. "You changed me for the better I fear," he said lowly as he looked up and waved off at the boat passing by.
Jack leaned back, folding his arms behind his head as he shot Quinn a knowing look. “Man, you’re in deep,” he said with a laugh. "It's pretty sad,” Luke agreed, chuckling as he shook his head before ridding himself of his shirt and diving into the lake.
He looked down at her, the warmth in his chest growing as she smiled back at him. No words were needed—just a simple look that solidified the unspoken connection between them, something that resembled love that ran deeper than anything words could convey.
The day got hotter as the laughter and playful banter of his brothers echoed around them. But for Quinn, all that mattered was the girl in his arms, the way she fit so perfectly against him, and the simple, undeniable fact that he was exactly where he wanted to be.
And as the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting a golden glow over the water, Quinn leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, his brothers’ teasing forgotten. He was content, truly happy, in a way he hadn’t expected. And even though this wasn’t typical for him, he found that he loved every minute of it.
Because with her, being a little out of character felt like the most natural thing in the world.

A mothers instinct (pt. 2!)
neteyam x fem!reader
Tumblr media
if you were to ask neytiri how she felt about the na’vi named y/n. she would gladly go on and on about her.
she saw y/n as one of her own.
she also saw how neteyam looked at y/n. even how y/n looked at neteyam.
watching the two of them grow up into beautifully grown adults was bittersweet for neytiri.
bitter, due to the fact they’re no longer little na’vi that like to look for animals in the forest. however sweet, because she got to witness the two fall for each other obliviously.
the two were around the age where they would be finding mates. they both completed their rituals to become adults…all except finding their other half.
noticing this, neytiri decided to play…oh what was it called… a…a matchmaker! she decided she would send the two to go find something at the Tree of Voices.
when she asked the pair to find this special “root” of a plant that only so happens to grow near the tree, they gladly accepted.
“of course we can help! i’ve been wanting to see the Tree of Voices for a while now!” y/n happily said with a giant grin on her face.
neteyam studied y/n’s smile for a second, almost as if it caused him to go into a daze. “sure yeah yeah we can go to the tree” he mumbled, still staring at y/n.
neytiri smirked. “alright then go! take your time trying to find it. it’s rare” she stated with a smile as she strutted away.
“come on neteyam! first one there gets bragging rights!” shouted y/n as she started to sprint.
“wha-hey! that’s not fair you cheated!” screamed neteyam while snapping out of his daze and trying to catch up to her.
the entire way to the Tree of Voices you could hear the laughter coming from the duo.
y/n eventually won.
only because neteyam wanted to see her smile longer… and because he happened to think she looked cute whenever she was proud of something she did.
“i won! who’s the mighty warrior now!” y/n laughed.
neteyam watched her strut around the tree as if she was accepting a prize with a fond smile on his face.
“alright you won! now come on, we need to find this root for my mother” stated neteyam as he was admiring the tree.
“oh come onnn, why can’t we admire the beauty eywa presents to us neteyam? i mean, just look how beautiful it is here!” she said while spinning around.
neteyam however wasn’t focused on the beuaty of the tree. “yeah…beautiful” he mumbled in a daze as he watched the glow from the tree reflect onto y/n’s skin, giving her this ethereal glow.
the two walked around the tree “looking” for the root of the tree that neytiri needed.
“hey neteyam? do you ever think we’ll find our mates?” y/n questioned with a slight frown.
“hm? what makes you ask that?” neteyam wonders.
“well…it’s just that i know your mom and dad mated here… before eywa. do you think she could tell us who we’re destined to be with?” y/n asked while reaching for her queue behind her.
“i think you’re right. we should check…but i have a pretty good idea of who i want to end up with” he mumbled with his freckles glowing slightly.
they both took their queues and let the pink tendrils connect with the glowing stem of the tree. the two then closed their eyes to accept the vision.
y/n noticed she was still in the forest. the first thing she heard was laughter, but not any laughter. a child laughing. y/n walked toward the sound and saw the back of a male na’vi.
she noticed the na’vi was tickling the child that was sitting in his arms. she slowly stepped around and got a proper look at his face.
it was neteyam.
neteyam noticed her standing there and looked up, away from the child.
“hello my love. you’re back early? did something go wrong with your hunt?” he questioned nervously.
“uh- no! no everything is ok!” y/n stuttered out while looking at him in shock.
she couldn’t believe that eywa was showing her the future. her future with neteyam.
she slowly squatted down next to neteyam and the small little girl that was previously laughing in his arms.
the little girl seemed to notice her there when her ears perked up and a small glint appeared in her eyes. “mommy! you back!!” she lightly screamed as she stumbled into y/n’s arms.
she was no older than 3 years old. she had the looks of y/n, but one could easily tell she was just like neteyam.
you could also easily see that she was a daddy’s girl.
“hi baby.” whispered y/n, still in shock that she and neteyam have a future together. plus a whole child.
neteyam looked at them with a find smile on his face.
the vision slowly faded away as y/n was brought back into the present where she was still at the Tree if Voices with neteyam next to her.
she turned her head to see if neteyam was still in his vision.
however once she turned around she saw that he disconnecting his queue with a giant smile on his face.
he turned his head to make eye-contact with her.
the two of them made eye contact for a while. then they both rushed towards each other to embrace the other in a passionate hug.
the hug spoke the words they were scared to speak.
“…did you see it too?” neteyam hesitantly asked her whike tightening his grip on her.
“yes. i saw us. with a beautiful baby girl.” y/n spoke breathlessly. she had slight tears in her eyes knowing she had a future with her long time friend, soon to be husband.
“wait you only saw one daughter? i saw our two daughters and a son!” neteyam spoke with wide eyes.
the two of them pulled away from the hug with their jaws dropped.
“we need to speak to your mother.”
“we need to speak to my mother.”
the two spoke at the same time.
neteyam then grabbed y/n’s hand and started the trip back to their home.
the two spent the rest of the walk smiling and laughing, knowing that they would end up to together.
they then started to try and guess what they would name their children.
neytiri saw the two walk into her tent with giant smiles on their faces, their hands linked together, and their tails swishing in glee.
“i take it you didn’t find the root?” she smugly asked.
the two made eyecontact with her and saw her smirk. they dropped their jaws in disbelief.
“there was no root to find was there!” y/n stated in awe.
neytiri just laughed.
the two teens then started to laugh along with her.
neteyam was speechless. his mother knew they would end up together.
curse those damn mother instincts.

Neteyam x gn!omaticaya!reader
words: 762
warnings: kissing and using “skxawng”
author’s note: OMFG this so cute I swear, I don’t know if the end is like you wanted annon but I tried my best :)
Tumblr media
An ikran flew too close to you, passing you at high speed "teyam be careful!" he turned his head from his ikran at your shout "oh come on this is my moment of freedom, let me have some fun ma y/n" he said laughing, the nickname making the blush grow to your cheeks.
Holding tight to your ikran you sped up, passing closer to the eldest Sully, his horrified expression made you burst into a fit of laughter "so that's how you want to play huh?", you laughed fixing your gaze on him "you know I'm going to beat you teyam", now it was his turn to laugh "you wish y/n". You set your visor, "last one to the glade loses" having said that your ikran started to descend at high speed with Neteyam right behind you, the race was interesting, you were both playing while trying to win, when you were about to land neteyam's ikran opened its wings making you fly to the side while he landed in the grass. Your face showed pure amazement "you are a cheater neteyam sully!" "we never talked about the rules love", your mouth closed quickly at the nickname, after landing you approached neteyam leaving a soft thump on his back "skxawng", he laughed following you into the forest.
The eclipse was settling making the glowing freckles appear on your bodies, you couldn't help but fix your eyes on neteyam's back, seeing how the patterns were broken, covered in scars from the war, your eyes moved to his side making neteyam realize that you were looking at him "what are you looking at? " "mhmn?" your ears ignored his words, your fingers moving closer to his ribs to trace a couple of scars, when your fingers made contact with his skin a chuckle escaped his lips as his body moved away from your touch. A mischievous look appeared on your face, neteyam's face went from a cheerful one to a completely serious one "y/n no..." but it was too late, you pounced on him sending both of you to the ground, you started attacking his sides with light finger movements, laughter began to escape his lips as his body jerked, "Ah~ ah please, HA y/n please.... Icantbreathe" you stopped your movements letting him rest "I didn't understand what you said" you said a smirk gracing your lips "fuck you" neteyam said trying to catch his breath, your hands made contact with abdomen again making his eyes widen like plates "Fuck no! HAHAHAHA... please!", "are you going to keep mumbling some more insults to my person again teyam?" "oh no, no I promise, just stop" you quickly got up from him "are you that ticklish?" you said laughing, he stood up with a frown "haha you're so funny did I ever told you that?" he said with irony in his voice, a slight smile graced your face as you brushed away a piece of grass that had stuck to his arm "It’s a talent" he scoffed at your comment as you continued walking through the forest.
Before you could process it neteyam lunged at you, attacking your sides with tickles, just as you had done to him moments before, small cries for help escaped your throat as you tried to restrain his hands "neteyam please I-I can't breathe" "who's the one laughing now huh?" a nervous chuckle escaped your body as you realized how close you both were, his face inches away from yours, it must be that he read your mind as you saw the color quickly ascend to his cheeks, oh eywa the son of the olo'eyktan blushing, what a sight, you noticed how his face had changed over the years, he was no longer the same little boy you met when you were little, your hands placed themselves on his cheeks caressing the area under his eye "since when have you grown so much teyam?" his eyes were still on yours,trying to process the information "you've grown up too y/n, we're not little kids anymore", "I know" you noticed how his gaze moved from your eyes to your lips, fixing on these; everything was so peaceful, the gentle breeze, the bioluminescent plants adorning the forest and him, the glowing freckles adorning his face, his eyes shining with Polyphemus light, the darker stripes on his forehead and his cheeks- "I see you y/n" you were so absorbed in your world that his words took you by surprise, a smile rose to your lips "I see you teyam" his yellow eyes sparkled and his pupils dilated as the smile on his face grew even bigger. His lips slowly descended on yours, it was inexperienced, but full of love; you parted for lack of air, as you both let out a giggle bringing your foreheads together. “maybe I should let you tickle me more often”

See How It Shines
Astarion has a plan, a practical, life-saving scheme. He doesn't need the realization that the druid traveling with him is unlike anyone he has met before. In which Astarion has feelings for the first time Inspired by Hozier's Abstract (Psychopomp) Astarion x Drow Druid!Tav 935 words I headcanon her as a circle of stars even though that is not available in BG3
TW: Animal Death, slight, tiny tiny Act I spoilers
“What are you doing?” Gale shouts as they watch their party Druid gasp and run towards the sound of an animal yipping. She doesn’t answer as she moves with a speed Astarion has only seen in the heat of battle. They all pick up the pace to follow behind but are stopped in their tracks by the troubling image in front of them.
Astarion watches her lean down over the creature, the scent of blood and gore thick in the heated air. It’s overwhelming to his senses as he holds back a gag at the putrid scene, but it doesn’t seem to even register to the Drow. The hyena was panting, eyes wide and frantic looking at her in confusion. She shushes the animal, and with a calming voice, begins to speak.
What is she doing? Is she crazy? He knew teaming up with a Druid would come back to bite him, no matter how easy it was to work his charms on nature lovers with their heads in the cloud.
“It’s okay darling, it’s okay, you’re going to be okay,” she coos, slowly petting its head. The tell-tale tingle of magic surrounds him as he sees a soft glow emitting from her palm, and the tension in the animal's body releases as it leans its snout into her hand. It finally hits Astarion, the realization of what is occurring here, the smell, the blood, and the carnage. Gnolls had savaged their way through what looked to be a caravan of merchants.
“We need to leave! Gnolls could be around any corner,” he hisses, his fellow companions sucking in a sharp breath of air, but the little Druid makes no move to leave. Instead, she holds her hand up, as if to signal them all to stop. He doesn’t know when she became such a force within the group, but her presence was commanding, and everyone froze.
Never in a thousand lifetimes could Astarion predict the actions of the odd elf next. She sat on the blood-soaked ground, unfazed, as she rests the creatures head in her lap. It’s gentle, so gentle that Astarion can’t remember a time he’s seen something cared for so delicately. Then, the Druid starts to hum. It’s an unfamiliar tune, probably something from the Underdark. It’s whimsical and a little haunting in its cadence.
Astarion realizes he has been holding his breath, a lump forming in his throat. He would have killed the creature. A gnoll ripping out from its body would have been a gruesome nuisance. It would have been a mercy. He’s never seen mercy like this, comforting, safe, and so incredibly sad. Why is he suddenly so overwhelmed with his own sadness? Why is she treating such a disturbing creature with such… compassion?
She continues to pet the wounded animal, its fate sealed long before the party stumbled upon the scene. Its eyes are closed, breathing soft and even as she continues to hum. He notices her eyes are closed now too, with a furrowed brow and slightly scrunched nose as she sways back and forth, rocking the animal to its final sleep.
All the companions are still, watching something so intimate feels like an intrusion. It’s as if the Druid is saying goodbye to her familiar, not a random hyena found on the side of the road moments before.
Astarion notices things about her he’s only noticed in passing before, but it’s as if he is really seeing her for the first time. Her hair, he thought it was black, but he can see where the sun hits her that it’s a deep blue. It’s falls down her back in loose waves, swaying back and forth with her movement. She has freckles forming on her shoulders and across her nose and cheekbones, unusual for a Drow, but emphasizing the time she has spent in the sun, potentially hurting herself in her goal of helping others. Her skin, pale and scarred, looks soft and smooth under his gaze. He thought it was strange a Drow could be as white as him, but she’s not. Her skin is a pale purple.
She is graceful. She’s beautiful.
Astarion hasn’t found anything beautiful in quite a long time. He doesn’t know what to do with these emotions, how to keep playing this flirtatious game of manipulation. Was it even working? Were the soft smiles he read as bashful really just her placating his advances? Druids are wise, despite their carefree lifestyle, he had forgotten that it seems.
A tear falls down her face as the hyena takes its final breath, slow and soft, before going limp in her arms.
“May Eilistraee guide you to peace,” she whispers, a tear falling off her cheek to the animal. Taking a moment, she lays its head down, and flowers appear around the body. Standing, she sniffs, before rolling her shoulders back and standing straight. Her gaze hardens as she reaches for the weapon her side.
“Let’s go deal with these creatures before they take any more lives.”
Her demeanor has shifted completely, her once kind eyes now set on vengeance. Revenge. Standing up to fix the unbalance created here, to bring justice to these animals who cannot do it themselves.
Astarion thinks he would follow her anywhere.
The thought is quickly shaken away with a feeling of dread in his gut, no. He has too much going on, avoid Cazador, avoid growing tentacles, and gain unprecedented power. There’s no room for a kindhearted druid with stars in her shining purple eyes to distract him.
When did he notice the color of her eyes?

CHAPTER INDEX
Or... read Bellow
Tumblr media
The breeze at dawn was blowing through the grove, all the refugees had collected their belongings to leave for their journey. Rolan carefully arranged all his personal belongings in his bag, not forgetting his important book with Lorroakan's letter.
The walk was peaceful, and there would be conversations among some refugees to lighten the mood as others kept their words to themselves to avoid wasting their energy as they walked.
Stories of ancient heroes would be told to entertain children and Rolan's brothers told about the heroics of other famous heroes to the little ones.
Rolan walked in step with the others, practising the new spells in his head.
They would arrive at the mountain pass in a few days time without any problems, the Githyankis that Zorru had sighted would have already left and the path would be a little safer. The beauty of the sunset on the mountain pass was be enormous, with the leaves barely dried by the autumn stage and the environment decorated with the sunlight in its last stages of the day; A sight that is not equalled anywhere, even in the cities.
Although Rolan doesn't like being surrounded by nature, he enjoys these views and would never say no to taking time to enjoy it until the next sunrise.
Halfway through the mountain pass, the refugees would began to set up the camp for one last night before moving into dark lands, the atmosphere would slightly transform into purple colours, delighting even more the last views of the sun.
At nightfall Mrs. Okta cooked the dinner for the refugees, displeased to water down the broth even more, and her son Ikaron, despite having been a guard in Elturel, helped his old mother pass the dishes to the children and adults, even though they were even fewer refugees than they had been when they left Elturel.
Lakrissa and Afira would talk with Dammon while letting the siblings Cal and Lia relate the story of how 'the heroine of the grove' saved the day and how she fared in battle.
Curious to Rolan's ears, the children had an admiration for Yvainne, the way the others would tell her story made her seem like someone stocky and tall, a stereotypical hero in a big way when she is a puny, slightly shorter than any other woman and dangerously skilled with magic, but has good dexterity, worthy of being a hunter.
"There was no need to twist reality to benefit her..." It passed through Rolan's head as he kept flipping through his book.
The hours passed before everyone started to eat dinner, Rolan leaning against the rocks noticed a slight glow among the rocks near the cliff, he left the bowl of thin soup and approached it.
An unusual object was buried in the dirt, but it glowed in the light of the campfire. He carefully picked it up from the dirt and cleaned it with his fingertips; it was a hairpin made of gold with a star-shaped decoration.
Tumblr media
That unique golden glow in the darkest night close to the mountainous forest landscape would remind Yvainne's eyes as green as laurel leaves and the centre as golden as the sun. Something that his memory wouldn't forget as easily as her freckles, long and disorganised hair as black as a crow's wings.
Each time he looks at that hairpin he only thinks about seeing her again to pick up her hair and decorate it with that ornament to see that face with those beautiful eyes in particular...
Instantaneously he blinked his eyes strongly and put the hairpin in his pocket, he didn't like to think about those things, he felt weak and he hated it.
With what happened at the waterfalls, the fight with the goblins and the moment at the party it felt like the gods had made her to annoy him. He wasn't in her league at all, she was surrounded with interesting companions who seemed to have a special interest in her, and he's just a cocky apprentice wizard.
One of those days if he saw her again he'd go mad.  But for his good fortune or not, maybe he wouldn't see her again.
"Rolan, Mrs. Okta is asking why you haven't finished your soup." Cal's voice would bring him out of his thoughts. "I'll be there in a moment." Rolan headed for his dinner plate in the company of his brothers.
They would talk more about their walking corns and sunburn until the conversations became interesting fot two of them.
"We didn't talk much about that night of the party." Rolan choked on his food as he heard Lia bring up that conversation.
"Oh yes. The night when my brother and sister humiliated me awfully by drunken dancing." Rolan blurted out with almost an aggressive edge to his words before politely consuming his soup.
"And we also interrupted your most intimate moment with her." Cal said, turning his lips to his cup of water. Rolan spat the food near Lia at which she laughed. Her cheeks would slowly flush as her brothers laughed mockingly.
"No, we didn't. - I was avoiding being associated with drunken idiots by staying away from the party. Nothing happened there, I just showed her how to do the lights.  Absolutely nothing happened." Said Rolan who turned redder than he already was.
"Alone with Yvainne, and nothing happened; hells, you must have fucked it up." Said Lia with a malicious smile.
"No! No, just no." Rolan's words would begin to falter.  "That tells us everything." Cal said with a chuckle. Rolan would look away in an attempt to ignore his brothers' taunts. It was difficult to explain that situation, he had let himself be carried away by the wine and the previous dangerous situation. But the realisation that his brothers were eager for an answer would lead him to be partially honest.
"If you two hadn't come drunk...." Rolan murmured, his brothers heard him, both exchanged glances with excitement.
"Next time, put your lights in the sky so that we don't disturb you." Lia excitedly shook Cal, Rolan brought his hands to his face to cover the obvious nervousness that his siblings would easily provoke.  He didn't know if it would be a next time, he'd be too busy learning magic with his new master Lorroakan, but he'd let his siblings get carried away with the excitement.
His brothers didn't bring up that subject again, although very deep down Rolan wanted to tell his brothers how pretty she was under that hair, he wouldn't do it, they would tease him again and this time it would be for days. Even though it was evident that there was something growing between them, and it would grow even more if they met again, he wouldn't admit that he had genuine interest in a person.
At the time of everyone's rest, Rolan covered Cal and Lia with a blanket to keep them warm in the camp. As he leaned close to his siblings, he would open his book and practice again in absolute silence.
As he leaned back he would feel a twinge in his side, as he removed the discomfort he would notice that the discomfort was that hairpin. Looking again at that ornament he carefully placed it on the page on which it was located so as not to lose the page and passed the letter of Lorroakan to the end parts of the book. Now he could see the page more clearly without having to turn the letter to other pages.
His thoughts turned to how to present himself in the city and how the Baldureans would see him. He is a tiefling and people would judge him by what happened in Elturel, although with the letter it is certain that they will have a good place in the area. His concern for his siblings would come up again, he would not want his brother and sister suffer discrimination, but one thing is for sure, Lia would protect Cal from anyone who would try to hurt him, as well as him he'll protect her.
A hand brought him out of his thoughts, it was Asharak, he'd silently gesture for him to follow him, and Rolan returned the book to his bag with extreme care so that the hairpin wouldn't fall out.
Asharak escorted Rolan to an area where the cathedral could be seen in the distance. Zevlor observed the night scenery in awe.
Tumblr media
"Ah, boy, I wondered if you might in the mood for a conversation." Zevlor said without looking away from the breathtaking scenery.
"It seemed you needed the wisdom of a wizard." Said Rolan, crossing his arms with a cheeky smile.
"You're not far wrong boy. -You see we're not so far from the entrance to Shadows cursed land and we need all the fire burning we can get in specific spots so that the refugees don't suffer the curse. If the shadows try to extinguish them, it would be helpful to chase them away with your magic." Rolan nodded at Zevlor's specific instructions.
"I will do what I can, for my brothers, don't be mistaken, Zevlor." the paladin nodded his understanding at Rolan's words.
"If anything happens to us, and I hope by the mercy of the gods it doesn't. You will take our place along with Cerys and lead these people to Baldur's gate." Rolan paled at Asharak's comment.  Of all the possible leaders he would accept Cerys, one of the scouts of Elturel, becoming leader. But himself?
It is a burden he would not like to bear, but there would be no other way.
Zevlor would laugh at Rolan's expression.
"You should not frighten him my friend, it is a hypothetical case, as long as we remain enlightened nothing will happen to us, simply everyone will be frightened of the shadowy whispers, but if anyone comes near be assured that my sword will speak for itself, it is just a precaution." said Zevlor with a heroic look on his face. Surely his strength and leadership can take on the shadows of the cursed lands.
"That was all boy, you can go rest again, tomorrow we leave for the shadow cursed land." Rolan nodded as Zevlor gave him the signal to leave.  The only thing running through his mind was that he would be a very bad leader if anything happened to the others, he doesn't have the patience to lead, he's not like... Yvainne.
He breathed the air before turning to his siblings again. For the night's movements they would be uncovering themselves by accident. Rolan returned to cover them up to their necks with the blanket and lay down near them to rest. He only knew that for Cal and Lia he would protect them with his life and if possible in death as well.
It wasn't hard to wake up, the sunrise would be as bright as the sunset and it was a glorious feeling and Rolan knew it by feeling the warmth of the sun.
By contrast, his brothers would have had a harder time waking up on their own, being heavy sleepers.
"I think I got a pebble stuck in me while I was sleeping." Lia grumbled as she rubbed her side, Rolan would grin at the situation. Once Cal and Lia were ready, they helped lift the belongings of the other refugees to leave the camp.
Although it was difficult to keep the children quiet and the oxen still tired, they continued on their way. As they continued on their way there were signs in the area that they were close as plants were swallowed up and some dead animals.
Some refugees began to talk to lighten the silence in the face of the difficult path, Rolan remained restlessly reading his book again and looked up at the hairpin that reminded him of those eyes, he couldn't avoid smiling and even more so as his brothers retold their story to entertain the people.
"I know that Look from anywhere, who is it?" Bex would approach him to look at the book, Rolan would slam it shut with a jolt.
"You confuse a peaceful smile with any stupidity, just go to your husband, I don't have to deal with you." said Rolan, giving her a little tap on the shoulder. Bex went jumping up and down with her husband to gossip about him.
Rolan rolled his eyes, he's already tired of it, first his heated mind thinking of someone he may never see again, then his brothers and now the tiefling couple, there was no place for those feelings anymore and even less especially when is near the cursed lands, it's time to focus.
Along the way he kept mentally practising with the magic to perfect it.
"Mmm perhaps i could make modifications to the spells to make them more powerful."  He muttered to himself.  Rolan wagged his tail with excitement, he could try, varying his inner magic he could make these modifications, it wasn't really forbidden. He would practice with his fingers to try, flexing them properly and feel the magic flow differently in his veins.
His eyes widened in surprise, it was really possible, his excitement rising even more as he unleashed a genuine smile on his own face. He couldn't wait until arriving at the camp to do it.
Inspired he closed the book and put it in the bag, it was more than enough and already there was no time to continue reviewing, the heavy atmosphere indicated that the time had come.
Twisted trees, blackened earth and dead animals all around. Alfira, Cal and Lia would try to calm the frightened children, Dammon would secure the goods to avoid accidents on the road, Zevlor would give the instructions to set up the protective formation in order not to get separated from the road in the shadows.
Those selected as the points of light lit their torches, some of them calmed the oxen so they would not break ranks out of fear.
Once done, Zevlor would take the first step into the darkness of the twisting trees, followed by a few refugees and hellriders. Lia would take Rolan and Cal by the hand before taking the steps to proceed into the darkness.
Tumblr media
"It really was everything they said...".
There was no more sun, no more heat, just darkness incarnate.
Reithwin is nothing more and no less than a dead land reigned by shadows, adorned with twisted trees, spiky vines, blood-red grasses and dried plants. The smell was damp like graveyard dirt, but even heavier, even stinging on the nose.
Although around the refugees they have torches for light, the necrotic energy is even more powerful than what was mentioned and could instantly harm any living thing. As if something was feeding it even more.
"We must go on, do not fear, under the torchlight we will be safe." Zevlor said in a loud and confident voice. The group began to move forward in fear and silence.
The pace became more difficult as the shadows groaned as they tried to drown out the light of the torches, other shadows tried to seduce some of the weaker refugees out of the group and consume them, but none were deterred by fear.
"I could never imagine setting foot in these lands, the darkness is so heavy..." Cal squeezing his arms tightly around him.
"Don't worry, we'll be fine, the walk may be a little long, but with the torches we'll be all right." Lia said with a nervous smile, patting his brother's back.
Something felt wrong about the whole place, there were empty settlements and cages, the others didn't care, but Rolan would be nervous about them, campfires with embers, it's definitely not just shadowland anymore.
The sound of one of the wagons falling and the sound of falling metal would catch the group's attention, one of the oxen would begin to be blackened to death. Dammon's wares were already by the shadows, he would try to collect the most important things to take with him to get closer to the group as quickly as possible.
"One of the oxen succumbed to the shadows, there's not much I can do." Dammon said broken, some of the hard work was already with the shadows, but he kept the notes and some research he had.
"There's no problem, when we get to the city everything... everything will be fine." Alfira said patting Dammon on the back before continuing down the path.
The shadows would seem to quiet down in a few moments as they would reach a path that included several roads, movements could be heard amongst the grasses instead of the shadows. Something wrong and Rolan's nerves would become more evident.
"Everything all right?" Lia asked looking at her brother, she tried to place one of her hands on his shoulder, but he would turn his gaze abruptly with real terror in his eyes.
"It looks like an ambush...." whispered Rolan to which Lia and Cal tried to warn as many people as possible to stay calm and run as soon as they had the chance.
Tumblr media
But up ahead the children began to cry and scream, they were being quickly and silently surrounded, not by shadows, but by Absolute cultists, the same ones who wanted to raid the grove.
The group started to move closer together as the cultists began to corner them like animals.
Rolan's heartbeat quickened to a terrifying pace, a cold sweat would break out as he saw them draw their weapons. His instinct led him to grab the hands of his brothers who would also look terrified.
When they threatened Zevlor by pointing a crossbow at him he dropped to his knees touching his head as if in severe pain, a reaction that had also been seen on Yvainne during the battle with the goblins.
Some of the refugees would draw their weapons to defend the others, but a voice familiar to Rolan would shock him.
"Put down your weapons. We are refugees heading for Baldur's gate, we are not enemies, please let us go." pleaded Zevlor, some absolutists would look closely at the tiefling.
"Oh yes The Absolute, it has an interest in you, it has an interest in some of you, hell spawn. The Absolute wants to see who is of use and who will be sacrificed." The children began to cry louder as they listened to the absolutist, Asharak would try his best to calm the children whispering to them that all will be fine.
Rolan's chest shrank as he listened to Zevlor, he became dizzy as he tried to look at the others.
One of the absolutists would grab Asharak by the horn to pull him away from the group and place them in front of the frightened tieflings.
"We'll examine you. Line up, now! Or this spawn dies." He pointed a sword at the tiefling's neck with sadism. The refugees obeyed with panic on their faces.
"Zevlor by the gods do something! You can't let them do this to us, this is why we fight in the grove!" - Lia cried out in desperation, turning her anguished gaze to the Paladin. Zevlor looked at the young woman in sadness with true surrender in his eyes, Rolan would look into those eyes , the only salvation was giving them over to death.
"Absolute is the only way..." Said Zevlor with pain in his words, looking away.
"Close your eyes, children, please..." Asharak said with difficulty, in his eyes could be seen the sadness of knowing that this was going to be his true end and he was trying to assimilate it.   In a merciless act, the absolutist gouged out the tiefling's eyes. His screams of agony made the refugees shiver and weep, and they proceeded to cut out his tongue to drown out those screams. The choking sound left Rolan with a helplessness that turned to revulsion.
"Yes! Yes!! beg for your life! This is what will happen if you don't obey The Absolute's will" At that, Asharak's body would be thrown down to the ground and they would aggressively grab Ikaron's arm, his mother tried to pull his arm and one of the Absolutists kicked her out of the way.
"Don't touch my son! Leave him, please don't touch him! Take me, but not my son!"  Okta shouted in desesperation.  Rolan would turn his eyes away to avoid looking, he didn't know Ikaron but had engaged in a few conversations with him, her screams and sobs pleading for her son filled his throat with despair.
Hearing the blood spilling followed by Ikaron's screams, Mrs. Okta yelled out loud in fury, her only son had been slaughtered like a hog, in her act of impulsiveness she rushed to her son in tears, and another of the occultists shot her in the back causing her to fall beside her son. Tieflings' panic and terror would be hard to contain and the occultists threatened to slash the children's throats if they didn't calm down.
The lump in Rolan's throat rose in frustration, he couldn't let this happen, eventually it will be his brothers' turn. He hoped with all his heart that Yvainne and his strange party would come out of nowhere to save them again; that's what heroes do, saving people when they need it most, at any time.
But that would not happen.
Rolan started to tremble in helplessness, he shook his head and tried to blink hard to wake up from this real nightmare, but it was not like that, this is more than reality.
They were cornered and lined up like dogs.
What good are heroes if they are not present in the face of the danger of the innocent?
No one would come to save them and any attempt to escape would put everyone in danger....
Nobody... Not even Yvainne could save them...
"Tormento"
From Rolan's fingers shot out spheres of red light that would hurt several occultists.
"I'd rather rot in the shadows than give in to any of you, Bastards!" Rolan stood up preparing a lightning spell, his eyes glowed like flames.
Lia got up dryly to throw a rock at the archer cultist's head to make him drop his weapon to grab her bow and strike at the remaining archers that would threaten to hurt her brother, Cal would slash the back of their knees with his spear to bleed them out. It was like facing goblins, some will take the opportunity to escape from the cultists. The three brothers bravely fought against the cultists who would threaten them. They had hoped that Zevlor with a glimmer of hope would rise up and fight.
But he didn't, he has remained on his knees, surrendered, and the Cultists would take him away.
"Capture as many as you can and take them to the Moonrise towers, necromancer Balthazar will be pleased, with the ones who are fighting."  Said one of the cultists with a delighted smirk.
Some of the refugees would fall to the cultists as more came taking other tieflings as prisoners, Cerys led the few adult tieflings to safety, other tieflings would turn away to run in the opposite direction.
The children stood in shock at the carnage, Rolan stepped in front of the children while casting another spell.
"Alfira take the children now!" Rolan shouted to give the bard a cue. She attempted to take the children, but they too would be cornered from behind.
Rolan would notice those cultists behind them.
If he tries to face the ones in front of him, the children would be lost, and if he tried to face the ones surrounding the children, he would die or worse.
His heart would race with anxiety, he was doing his best not to perish in the face of the cultists. He had limited time to think properly.
Suddenly Cal and Lia stood in front of him to save their brother. He would feel his blood chilling to see his siblings in front of him protecting in order for him to conjure the spell.
"Run, Rolan!" Cal shouted, preparing to strike with his spear.
"The children needs you, save them."  Lia said hoarsely, but there was a look of determination in her eyes.
"No, I will not leave you behind, I will fix this, just step aside and..." Rolan panicked, the children needed him and his brothers were willing to cover him to save him as well, he could not choose either of them. - If he chose his siblings the children would die and he will never forgive himself, but on the other hand his brother and sister is the most important thing in his life, it is his whole world, his world that he had fought so hard to get to where they are.
He couldn't choose, he can't, his senses would be clouded by the stress of the situation, he couldn't react or speak, there was an internal conflict with himself to try to manage it.
"We love you, asshole."  When Lia uttered her last words both brothers rushed towards the cultists.
"Detono"
Rolan without time threw thunderwave towards the cultists in the back who went for the children, he quickly grabbed the arm of a frightened girl to take her away along with Alfira and the other children.
Rolan's chest felt heavy, the lump in his throat would intensify each time he heard the shouts of the others who covered their backs for Rolan to protect the survivors from the cultists.
They would cross the bridge of the old inn that seemed to be protected by shadows.
Guards would shoot at the remaining cultists to clear the way, others would help the wounded children and tieflings.  Several people would tend to them, clearly wearing the badge of a harp on their armour.
Harpers...
The loose organisation which tries to maintain balance and fight villainy throughout Faerun. A very familiar face would appear among the Harpists. Jaheira, the High Harpist, heroine of Baldur's Gate.
The refugees and the high harpist would approach Rolan to ask them questions at the same time.
He couldn't hear the questions, he couldn't see due to his blurred vision. He just wanted to go back for his brother and sister.
On impulse he turned to run back into the shadows, but some vines grabbed his feet, preventing him from taking another step. Rolan would turn to face the old half elf woman angrily.
"Let me go, damn you! I must save them!"  Rolan would shout, as the vines stretched across his legs and arms, preventing him from using magic to free himself.
"For the nine hells I must save them! they're my brother and sister!"  He was forced to his knees by the vines. Tears would well up in him, completely clouding his judgement.  Sorrow and wrath flooded him, his brothers had sacrificed themselves for him to save the rest of them, or at least a part of them.
He endured the sorrowful tears that threatened to spill out as he tried to pull himself free from the vines. But each attempt to break free stung and burned on his skin. It was clear they didn't want to let him get out, he bowed his head in surrender.
It was useless to leave, they were gone anyway if he returned to that place and that would hurt him even more. The vines dissipated and a few harpists would block the entrance.
Alfira touched his shoulder in consolation, but he would turn away abruptly.
"Don't touch me, you worthless bard-" Rolan waved his hands; Dammon tried to converse with him, but he averted his gaze.
Without listening to anybody else he stood up and moved into the inn. His gaze stopped on Bex who had tears in her eyes and alone, without her husband.
"That's why it was stupid to stay in the grove, I stayed in the grove thanks to Yvainne because of her goddamned hero speech, I thought it'd have been worth it, but it looks like it was all a bloody disappointment." Rolan spoke in a furious tone, desperately trying to get everyone to stay away from him.
His chest even ached at the mention of her name. If he had kept his word, his brothers would still be with him. If he had not listened to his heart they would be with him. They would have already left for the city if not for her.
Flooded with rage he would whip his bag of scrolls and his precious book to the canteen floor. Ignoring everything he would walk alone outside on the terrace to scream out all the pain he felt, a pain that would tear him apart and burn him alive before he threw himself to the ground in tears.
Nothing mattered to him anymore, not the letter from Lorroakan, not the scrolls, not the book.
For him there was nothing than stinging pain and the eternal moments of each tear flowing down his cheek.

back to the old house
This is a lil something for Dani ( @will80sbyers ). I know it won't solve any of the stuff that upset you in the first place, but maybe it will at least cheer u up a bit. I hope your day gets better real soon, bc you're like, my fave person on here rn
(insert the "I've had Dani as a mutual for little over a week but if she left tumblr i would kill everyone and then myself" meme lmao)
Anyways, here is a soft, fluffy pining byler oneshot!
He could spend a whole day just staring at him, if he was sure he wouldn’t notice.
Thankfully, Mike tended to get tunnel vision when focusing on a task, so Will indulged himself, eyes longingly following every sharp angle in the other boy’s face, constellations of freckles peppered on his face and neck, as Mike’s loose t-shirt slid off one of his shoulders. Will knew the image would haunt his dreams - an expanse of pale skin, prominent collarbone, slender muscles moving gently beneath his skin. His mind started to memorize every dip on that landscape of skin and bones, every spot he wished he could brush with his lips.
He wanted to die, because this was worse than hell.
And he’d already been there.
He forced his eyes back up, drawn by the slight furrow in Mike’s expressive eyebrows, black unruly curls falling into his face, slender hand with long fingers pushing them back with a frustrated huff escaping pink, wide lips.
God, his lips.
How could people ever bully Mike for his looks was beyond him.
Even back in middle school, before Mike began to grow into those prominent cheekbones and intense eyes, he was easily the prettiest boy Will has ever seen, with his toothy smiles and warm eyes like dark chocolate. Maybe he did look a bit like a frog, but if so, Will never wanted that one to turn into a prince.
And this past year, Mike’s shoulders broadened slightly, and he grew even taller, his lanky frame towering over most of them. Maybe he wasn’t exactly the standard of male beauty, but looking at Mike and discovering those changes in his frame made Will feel warm all over.
Maybe Mike was an angel, an ethereal being, and ignorant human eyes just couldn’t appreciate, couldn’t see all of the ways he was perfect.
But Will saw him. Every time he found himself sketching studies of every detail of Mike’s face, his hands, the way his shoulder blades moved whenever he was using his arms, he felt as if he were a struggling renaissance artist who fell hopelessly in love with a fallen angel.
He watched Mike’s slender fingers tap in frustration against the strums of the guitar as he failed to find the right chord, and he couldn’t help but blush, the way the bony fingers slid against the fretboard almost hypnotizing.
Mike looked up for a second, his deep dark eyes catching the green ones, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously, as he immediately turned his gaze back down to the notepad that laid on the bed next to him. Will blushed profusely, but didn’t turn his eyes away. There was no point pretending he wasn’t staring, now.
Mike cleared his throat suddenly, and raised his eyes back up to meet Will’s. His dark eyelashes fluttered slightly, and there was an odd look painting his features with a soft golden glow.
It was Will’s turn to let his eyes drop back to the sketchbook resting against his pulled up knees.
To no avail, as he met the charcoal eyes on the page, just above the dusting of freckles he just finished adding to the messy portrait.
After a fleeting moment of silence the sound of guitar strings being pulled filled the room once again. Mike must have found the right sound, after all, because the beginning notes of a familiar song made Will tap his finger against his thigh in a reflex. He did that every time he heard a song he liked, the repetition calming him, giving him something miniscule to focus on.
But then, Mike started singing, and there was nothing calm about the inside of Will’s head, as the air stilled in his lungs with surprise at the sound.
His best friend’s voice was low, slight tremor of anxiety in it barely distinguishable. It was raspy, untrained, and his fingers stumbled slightly on the strumming pattern as he focused on the lyrics, and it was the most beautiful thing Will has ever heard.
He took a quiet, shaky breath, fearing to make a sound, as if anything could break this moment, stop Mike’s singing, and Will secretly hoped it could go on forever. He let himself look up and took in the sight before him, Mike’s tongue darting out to wet his lips slightly during the break, his dark eyes focused on his fingers pressing down on the strums, making sure he was hitting the right notes. His eyebrows were scrunched up slightly, as he gulped before he started singing again.
‘When you cycled by, here began all my dreams,’ his voice wavered slightly and Will felt a pang of something, a feeling almost similar to the one he got when Vecna was nearby, but completely different at the same time, this one being hot, heavy and not at all unpleasant. It was anticipation, like he knew something important was happening and he was not ready to face it, terrified of the intensity of the feeling.
‘And you never knew how much I really liked you,’ there was a slip of a fingertip resulting in a faulty note, but Will wouldn’t notice if all of the strings broke altogether because Mike was looking at him now, his lips still moving as the song continued, eyes consuming, even darker than usually - if it was even possible - filled with some kind of fear and softness at the same time.
Are you still there, or have you moved away?
As the song came to a sudden end when Mike’s hand dropped from the fret, shaking slightly as he laid it on the comforter next to his knee, a small, shallow huff of air escaping his lips, which he pressed together now in a look of apprehension.
Will sat there frozen, blood flowing loudly through his body, a wave of unbearable heat washing over him, and before he could register what he was doing, his hand slid slowly across the mattress, his eyes focused on it intently, before coming to a stop.
Two pinkies brushed against each other, with a jolt of electricity shooting up his arm, straight to his chest, and he finally dared to look up.
Mike was looking at him intensely, like he did at the back of that van a few months back, as if he was trying to commit every miniscule curve of Will’s face to memory. He was biting his lower lip hard enough for the redness to flow into it heavily, making Will’s eyes shift there involuntarily, and he saw those lips part, as if Mike was about to say something.
The door opened suddenly, and they jumped apart, the guitar falling on the floor with a pathetic whine of the strums.
Nancy stood there, eyes wide, expression unreadable.
‘Shit, I, uh… Dinner is ready.’
Fucking hell.

Spelled (Carlos de Vil x Sanderson Daughter) Descendants 2- Ch. 6: Love Is Madness
Tumblr media
“Magica?”
Carlos and I just stare at each other, unmoving and unsure what to do or say. Did he follow me? Why would he risk coming back to this place? Is it because he still cares, or just to find Mal?
“Trixie!” Jay breaks the silence and engulfs me in a big hug. Evie must be here too. “Don’t scare us like that! We thought we’d never find you.”
“Find me? What dost thou mean? Why would you guys come back here?”
Carlos’ POV
Why would we come back? Doesn’t she know how dangerous the Isle is?
“So we could bring you back,” I reply. Magica looks… sad. Something that seems to be happening to her more often. “Magica, please come home with us.”
The purple-haired witch looks at the floor and shakes her head. “This might as well be my new home. It seems that everywhere I go I can never find what I want, so I decided to join Mal here.”
Slowly, I inch forward and try to comfort her. “Magica, the Isle isn’t what you want-”
“How could you know what I want?” Magica suddenly gets very tense and her eyes glow a slight purple. “Do not even try to guess what I want, because it’s not your place to. You’re here for Mal, correct?”
What? We both exchange concerned looks. Magica’s never been this irritated with us before, so why the change?
“Yes, we’re here for Mal. But we’re also here for you-” I try to speak, but Magica interrupts.
“Good. I can take you to her.” She turns and goes to walk away, but then Ben and Evie run out from the alley. “Ben? You’re here too? At this point, why not?”
Ben gets a big grin on his face and tries to hug the witch, but she shows some reluctance.
“Pardon me for being rude, but I'd appreciate it if you kept your distance. You didn’t just swim here, I imagine?”
“Yeah. We took the limo-”
“Did you hide it?”
“Yeah, under a tarp.”
Magica cringes. “Wow. Real ingenuitive. Nobody’s gonna notice that!”
“So you know where Mal is?” Ben asks anxiously.
She shakes her head. “Yeah, but she’s not exactly in the mood for company. Besides, I’ve only been here half a day and I already know you wouldn’t last 10 minutes here alone!”
“Well then let’s go! I’ve gotta apologize and get her to come back.” Ben grabs her hand and starts dragging her down the street until she stops in her tracks and gives him a glare, to which Ben gets a sheepish look. “Oh, right. You know the Isle and I don’t.”
Magica points over to us. “Actually, they do. So pay attention and follow their instructions. The Isle isn’t the place for you, Brother Ben. So don’t do anything stupid.”
“Oh. Ok!”
Ben rushes over to follow Jay and Evie, while I join Magica in the back. But she still seems distant.
“I missed you. Chad’s gotten more out of hand without your daily threats.” I try to smile. “Why’d you leave?”
Magica’s POV
So… he did miss me, just not in the way I’d hoped. But I will not be hooked into going back. Just bring them to Mal and send them away.
“I… You wouldn’t understand, Carlos. I need to figure my life out on my own without getting too many people involved.” More people means more complicated emotions, too many problems.
“How dare you leave without saying goodbye!” A voice calls from behind.
I blink. “Binx?” I turn around and the black cat is sitting at my feet with an unamused look. “What art thou doing here?”
“Did you think you could just disappear and I wouldn’t notice?”
Carlos holds up a hand. “I told him as soon as we heard you were gone. Just because most of Auradon is convinced you’re an evil witch doesn’t mean you’re unwanted by everyone. We miss you, Binx misses you. We’ll work out any problems, I promise. Just please, please come home?” He grabs my hand and offers a smile. “It’s not the same without you, Enchantress.”
Oh God. Why does he have to keep making this so hard? Carlos is happy with Jane, can’t he see I’m doing this for him?
I hold up our intertwined hands and arch an eyebrow. “Thick as thieves, huh? We’ll see, Freckles. For now let’s see if Ben can apologize to Mal without her having a meltdown. She’s been under a lot of stress.”
I can tell Carlos sees I’m avoiding the subject, but he doesn’t press on. Instead we keep walking and catch up with the others, who are watching Ben wander around aimlessly and oblivious as he greets random strangers.
“Um, Ben? I’m no expert at being a villain but you’re sticking out like a really sore thumb right now.”
“This isn’t a parade, it’s the Isle!” Evie hisses.
Jay nods. “Keep your hands in your pockets unless you’re stealing.”
“Either slouch or strut,” Carlos points out.
“And never, ever smile,” Evie warns, then turns to me. “But you can, Magica. You’re a Sanderson, and it’s well-known that you guys like to cause chaos. You seem to be fitting in fine on your own, no doubt Mal’s taught you some things.”
I make a confused grimace. “Um, thanks? Not sure if that’s an advantage or an insult.”
“You’re a VK. It’s in your blood, trixie.” Jay pats my shoulder.
“Alright, thanks-” Ben goes to say.
“No, no thank-yous! And drop the pleases, just… chill,” Evie says with a smirk.
“Let me tell you something you can really trust
Everybody's got a wicked side.
I know you think that you could never be like us,
Watch and learn so you can get it right!”
The 3 VKs strut forward and begin to give the demonstration:
“You need to drag your feet.
You need to nod your head.
You need to lean back,
Slip through the cracks.
You need to not care.”
“Uh, you need to not stare,” Carlos snickers.
“You need a whole lotta help.”
“You need to not be yourself,” Evie points out.
“You wanna be cool?
Let me show you how.
Need to break the rules!
I can show you how.
And once you catch this feeling,
Yeah, once you catch this feeling,
You'll be chillin', chillin', oh.
Chillin' like a villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like, hey! A villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like a villain. Hey!
Chillin' like, chillin' like, hey! A villain.”
I think I’m getting the hang of it, and when I look back at Ben it’s hard not to laugh at his pathetic dancing! Evie sees it too and she points a scolding finger at him.
“You draw attention when you act like that.
Let us teach you how to disappear!
You look like you would lose a fight to an alley cat.
You gotta be wrong to get it right 'round here. Mer-ow!”
“You need to watch your back,
You need to creep around.
You need to slide real smooth.
Don't make a sound.
And if you want it, take it,
And if you can't take it, break it!
If you care about your health,”
“Seriously, you need to not be yourself,” Evie stresses.
“You wanna be cool?
Let me show you how.
Need to break the rules.
I can show you how.
And once you catch this feeling,”
Yeah, once you catch this feeling
You'll be chillin', chillin', oh
Chillin' like a villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like, hey! A villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like-”
Ben shrugs.
“I really wanna be bad a lot
And I'm giving it my best shot
But it's hard being what I'm not.”
Carlos cocks an eyebrow. “Well if you don't, you're gonna get us caught.”
Evie nods.
“He's right, we gotta stay low-key,
Now show us how bad you can be.
“Like this?” Ben puts on a pair of sunglasses.
“Like this?” He holds up Carlos’ stolen phone. How’d he get that?
We all smile and give him a thumbs up, and now Ben’s starting to smile.
“Oh yeah, I think I got this.
Let's go, I'm ready to rock this!
And I ain't gonna thank you for your help
I think I found the worst in myself!”
Now we all join in and strut through the street as if we own the place.
“You wanna be cool?
Let me show you how
Need to break the rules
I can show you how
And once you catch this feeling
Yeah, once you catch this feeling
You'll be chillin', chillin', oh.
Chillin' like a villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like, hey! A villain. Chillin'!
Chillin' like a villain. Hey!
Chillin' like, chillin' like, hey! A villain.”
Ben keeps walking ahead, still thinking about the VKs Villain 101.
“You should show that to FG,” I snicker at Carlos. “She might include it in Evil Stranger Awareness Day.”
We start walking towards Mal’s apartment when Ben accidentally knocks into another VK. Great, Ben. Real finesse!
“Hey, I know you!” The guy says with a grin. His unique features include a gray bandanna and a belt wrapped across his chest. The 3 VKs get concerned looks, so I can already tell this guy is bad news. But at least he doesn’t look as bad as that Hook guy.
Ben tries to play it cool. “Um, don’t know you, man.”
“Aw, c’mon! I’ll give you a hint: my dad is quick, slick, and his neck is incredibly thick!” He points to a poster with Ben’s face and waits for us to catch on, but we don’t. I’m still new to this whole Isle, and I’ve got no clue who this guy is!
But our delayed response has given the new VK enough time to recognize us. “Oh! You’re King Ben!”
I step in front of Ben and start shoving him down the alley. “No he’s not!”
“Jay? Carlos? Evie? Hey guys!” He calls from behind, but we keep ignoring it. “Ooh, Uma’s gonna love this!”
Uma? Uh-oh. I’ve got a feeling I’m sooner or later going to meet this ‘Uma’ character, and I can only hope it’s on halfway-decent terms.
We get to the stairs leading to Mal’s apartment and Ben gives us one last look of hope. “Wish me luck.”
“All the way up,” Jay points.
Ben climbs up, leaving us to wait at the bottom. But I can’t help it- my witch curiosity is getting the best of me. Looking around I see all kinds of signs and shops, with every alley buzzing with activity!
“Guys, I think I’m just gonna wander off a bit-”
“No, no! Bad idea, Magica,” Carlos gabs my hand and pulls me back.
“He’s right, trixie. Just because you’re a VK doesn't mean you’re safe here. You’re still a goody-goody to all the others here.”
My eyes narrow and I start sulking away. “I’ll decide just how evil I’m willing to become. Remember I came here for a reason, and so far this place has accepted me far better than Auradon ever will.” I give Carlos one last look, a mix of bittersweet and acceptance. “I’ll be back later. Inform me if anything changes with Mal.” I pull my hood up and lurk away into the shadows, and keep at a steady pace until I realize Binx is following me. “No use trying to talk me out of this, Thackery. My mind is made up: I’m staying here. I’m a VK, why fight it? If Auradon won’t accept me, this place will.”
Binx paws at my skirt. “Magica, this place is built for evil people. You shouldn’t have to feel that you have to resort to this bewitched prison as a home, if you can even call it that. Just because people might think you’re your mother doesn’t mean it’s all worthless-” “Oh really?” I chuckle darkly. “Did Carlos tell you he’s asking Jane to the dance?” I’m met with silence. “Yes, he… replaced me. Typical for any man who gets involved with a Sanderson, rinse and repeat. In Fate’s eyes I don’t seem to deserve love or happiness, so I’m gracing Carlos with my absence so I don’t ruin his.”
Binx doesn’t say anything, to which I am really grateful. We keep walking until we round a corner to a shop with a sign that says: Mad As A Hatter Tea Shoppe. My common sense already tells me this place must belong to the Mad Hatter, but I’m in the mood to let loose and be a little crazy so I enter anyway.
“I think I can handle it from here, Binx. You go back to the others.”
“Are you sure?”
I nod. “Yes. For now I’d like to try to forget my problems, and this seems like the place to start.”
Inside there are multiple tablets decorated with various tea sets. Multiple species of flowers are placed around the ceiling, which is painted with clouds to look like a sunny sky. The floor is checkered unevenly in black and white. The shoppe is mostly empty, aside from a few VKs at a booth and a purple and blue-haired girl behind a tall counter. She’s wearing a purple and blue skirt to match her hair, tall gold heels, polkadot leggings, and a tiny hop hat. When she looks up from the counter and notices me, her face lights up in an almost insane smile.
“Wait a tick! You’re Magica Sanderson! Oh I’ve heard so much about you!” She scurries out from behind the counter waving her arms and then stops to stare at my face.
“Um…” I shift awkwardly. “Good things, or bad things?”
She pumps her fists up. “All kinds of things! Hickory dickory cow says moo, it’s crackers to meet you!”
My face twists between a smile and a frown. “Uh, what?”
“It’s Riddleish! Only mad people can speak it, unless you cast a Babble Spell. Have you ever gone just a little bit mad?”
Oh! I get it now. I must admit her energy is catchy.
“Sometimes, though I doust not believe I wouldst ever compare to thy madness. My tongue consists of more olde English. Since thou already recognize me, whom art thou?”
She does a little twirl and giggles. “I’m Madeline Hatter, daughter of the Mad Hatter! Call me Maddie! Dad had me sent here to run a tea shoppe! It’s not as wonder-tastic as the one at home, but no magic means no fun. Unfortunately I got stuck when they cast the barrier on the Isle, but where better to find madness than here, right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Oh, I used to go to Ever After High! It’s a different fairytale universe! You have to step through an enchanted mirror and everything!”
Different universe? Fairy Godmother never said anything about that.
“Oh, goodness! I never knew there were other worlds, but I guess it makes sense-”
“Right! And then there’s Monster High, Wonderland, Neverland, the whole hat’s worth! Oh, hold that mind doodle!” At the sound of a tea kettle, Maddie scoots back to a backroom and rushes back with a tray of cups full of steaming tea. “Sit! Try this new brew I concocted!”
Before I can respond, Maddie pushes a teacup into my hand and waits with a giddy smile.
I don’t want to be rude to my potential new friend. Please don’t be spelled, please don’t be spelled…
I take a sip, and the tea is… actually really good. “My compliments, Maddie. This is wonderful!”
“Hat-tastic! I was hoping the tulip tea would turn out!” Tulips? “Hmm…” Maddie suddenly looks me up and down with an intense twisted face. “You seem half-empty. What can you do to make yourself half-full?”
Instantly, my head starts to panic. How can I simply tell this girl I just met my entire life’s problems? I’ve already involved too many people only to be betrayed or forgotten. Then again… Maddie doesn’t seem like any other person I’ve met.
“So basic summary: half VK half Auradon, tried to hide my witch heritage, thought I found my true love, had a mental breakdown, thought I’d try keeping my distance and make myself a better person only to be put on Auradon’s most-wanted list and had my true love replace me with someone else. Um… that about sums it up.”
The whole time Maddie keeps an insane grin on her face and hangs on to my every word.
“Huh. It seems to me like you’re trying to decide between singing the maiden’s tale or flying the witch’s broom.”
I sigh and take another sip of tea. “I’m just sick and tired of running and being ashamed of being someone I’m not, but I don’t want to just lose control again and prove everyone right.”
Maddie stirs her tea and babbles: “Can the musical chair change its tone when the tablet of granite is inscribed with a bone?”
“Um… sorry that’s way too much Riddelish for me to go on.”
She chuckles with her eyes crossed and tilts her head side to side. “I mean, sometimes our destinies aren’t exactly what we want, but we can always change them.”
Just the door opens and the bell rings, signaling a new patron entering the Shoppe.
“Bold to assume, ah, and now I see we have a visit from Uma!” Maddie chatters on and waves to the new guest behind me.
“Wait. Did you say-? Ah!” Out of nowhere a sack is thrown over my head and I feel my hands being bound behind me.
“Jack Horner pie touch the sky! I never expected a kidnapping to ever happen here!” I hear Maddie say.
“Foolish mortals! Thou shalt regret the day thou tempted to cross me!” I try to shout.
“Yeah yeah, shut up. I’ve got big plans for you,” A girl’s voice says from across the room.
What have I gotten myself into now?
(BTW I decided to add Maddie to this because I can't imagine another version of the Mad Hatter's daughter ever replacing her, she's just so wonderfully perfect!)

Don't know what to title this
This is the first thing I've tried to write. My FC and other friends said it was good so I'm going to share here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yemoja peaked an eye open slightly. A small gasp left her mouth before a smile formed. He was still there. It was late at night, or maybe very early morning. There were no orange or yellow rays coming through the window yet. But that didn’t matter to her cause he was still here. He had stayed. No running off. No disappearing. He stayed with her, like he promised.
Moonlight came in through the window making his hair shine from the inside like quartz in the light. A white, ghostly glow. Beautiful. It seemed like everything had stopped for this moment. For her. Her small ashy, dark purple hands reached up to move his white hair from his face. It was soft, if a little knotted. Carefully she started to unknot his hair.
The Au’ra never noticed the man before her had awoken when she did. A small smile crept to his face as she started to hum. He loved her voice. Sometimes it was strong like a river cutting through a mountain and other times free as the wind on the Steppe. Right now, now it felt like the light on a petel. Wow. When did he become like this?
His large hand squeezes her hip softly, causing a gasp to escape the recipient.
“Cid? How long have you been up?” Yemoja asked, a little panicked. “I’m so sorry. Did I wake you?”
Cid chuckled before finally opening his eyes, “No. I’ve been up for a while.”
They stay like that, just looking at each other's face. Cid’s ice blue eyes studied her mitch-match ones. One a clear yellow, the other a deep blue-green with glowing teal-ish rings around them. She always called them Hydaelyn’s mark as she didn’t have them before her first vision. His eyes traveled down her face to the yellow freckles that adorned her nose and cheeks like stars. Laying there, her face reminded him of the night sky and the scales were like pure white clouds.
Yemoja studied Cid’s face with as much intensity. She wanted to engrave this moment into her mind’s eye. From the way his beard laid at this moment to the normally tight eyebrows finally relaxing. She could make out the slight bags under his eyes. No doubt from the nights he’s forgotten to rest when he was close to a breakthrough. Nothing was covering the pearly bead on his head, his third eye. A small smile came to her plump lips. To show what is probably his weakest point, that trust was something she was never going to break. The shadow cast by his strong nose could not hide the softness in his eyes. The admiration. The joy.
“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” She asked, pulling the blanket up over her bare shoulder, suddenly embarrassed.
“Like what?” Cid smiled fondly.
“Like you believe I could put the stars in the sky?”
“Cause I do. Don’t worry. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure they get there.”
Chapter 2
As Lucas came back up and plopped down next to her “Max,” Lucas said his tone calm, like he was soothing a crazed animal. And she felt like an animal, feeling the need to scratch herself free of her skin, to shed the parasite that had made its way into her brain. She wanted to curse and scream and cry until it left her alone. No one was safe before that. Lucas wasn’t safe before that. He came over to her, trying to set his hands on her arms. Max pushed them away. “No, don’t, I’m not safe, I’m not— I’m just gonna hurt you and—” “Max, I think you’re having a panic attack, okay. Just let me help you.” “No, stay away, I’m not—” “Let me help you, Max…Please.”  “Fine..” max said still crying as she leaned onto Lucas as he wrapped his arms around her "Thank you for checking up on me…And for helping me out” she explained.  Lucas felt his heart squeeze in his chest. He wanted to tell her that of course he’d helped her, that he was just happy and privileged that she’d let him. But his uncertainty was still present, and he needed to know if he'd done the right thing. “So you’re… you’re not mad at me? For over-stepping earlier? Because I really didn’t mean to, but if I did, I’m really sorry,” he rushed to explain. But Max just shook her head lightly. “I’m not mad at you, Lucas.” “I’m just…” She paused, looking out the window, biting her lips together in thought. Something resembling regret flashed in them. “I’m sorry you had to see all that. I’m sorry I yelled at you. None of it was your fault.” After a while Max shifted a little next to him But after a moment she was inching her hand over to cover his on top of the blanket. She squeezed his hand, just lightly. Max looked beautiful in the candlelight. The slight flicker of the small flames played against her freckled face, illuminating it in the dark. Lucas suddenly noticed that her hair was down, the first he’d seen it like that since they’d met up again. And now that he’d noticed it, he couldn’t tear his gaze away, seeing her hair tumbling from over her shoulder, strands draping down by the sides of her face. It was just glowing in the warm light. The air in her room felt different all of a sudden, no longer drafty, something other than dusty particles hanging heavy in it. Max was still looking at him, not moving away, not averting her gaze. And seeing the way she was looking at him, curious and open and warm, it made it feel like there was a string connecting him to her. A string he couldn’t help but to follow. Before he knew it, he had started to lean forward a little. And Max was leaning in too, dropping her knees down from between them gripping onto his jacket. Lucas’s brain was short-circuiting, not able to fully catch up to what was happening, the only thing on his mind was how close she suddenly was. How she was made of candlelight and bright laughter and soft copper and fierce blue and she was so close that he could smell the sweet apple juice on her breath. His eyes fluttered closed. As they both began to kiss each other “Wait..” Max abruptly breathed out, tense.
“What is it?” Lucas asked, worried, his eyes springing open as they both quickly leaned away. He was mentally hitting himself for getting swept up like that. What had he been thinking? Here he was, assuming things again!
“We don’t have to—” he quickly added.
“No, I-I want to, it’s just…” Max cut him off, and he didn’t even have time to process how hearing that made his heart nearly burst when she continued, her voice growing tense and worried:  “What if I’ll snap and hurt you?” “Well, how are you feeling? Is it messing with you, are you feeling anything coming on?” Lucas asked her, trying his all to be level-headed, just needing to reassure her.
“No, I…” Max said, shaking her head, pressing her eyes closed. Then she opened them again and looked right at him when she said:
“I just wanna feel you…Like..kiss you and hug you….Oh god did I just say that?” Max said as she tucked her face in her hands “Yea..you did..” Lucas responded “Shit..I-I’m sorry..” max said muffled “Hey, Hey it’s ok…I- I feel the same way max..” “Okay, um, well then, I can um…” he stammered. He was grasping around at the remnants of his brain, the parts of it that hadn’t floated into the air already, so wonderfully overwhelmed by all this.
“Just stay still, okay? We’ll go slow, let me know the second you want to stop,” he explained. Max nodded, her gaze having fallen back to his lips again as he’d spoken. And there went another slice of his brain, happily floating up like a piece of a cloud.  He touched his lips to hers, careful and feather light. The last time her lips had tasted salty, like the sea. This time they were sweet, with the freshness of the apple juice lingering. But her lips were as soft as he remembered, as warm. And he felt like he had died and gone to heaven, all in the split second before he leaned away.
 “How are you feeling?” he quickly asked her, immediately pulling back, worried, scanning her face for a sign of something being wrong.
“I—” Max started, blinking her eyes, her brow knitting as she seemed to try to focus on everything she was feeling.
“I’m okay, I think. I feel in control, it’s quiet in my mind…but I- I kinda like it..” she said, starting out hesitant, but sounding surer with every word. “No but I—” Max started to argue but he shook his head, stopping her. “Max.” Her eyes flickered to meet his, swirling with uncertainty, doubt and fear. He found her hand again, gently squeezing it. And his words were as reckless as he knew them to be true when he said them. “You could never hurt me.” “Lucas,” she breathed out and if that would've been the last time he would ever hear his name said out loud, it would've been fine. Because he was pretty sure nothing could compare to how if felt, hearing her say it right now, how her lips formed the simple two syllables into something heavy and soaring and golden and real and simple and intricate all at the same time. Her eyes were on his, and so, so blue, even in the hazy dark, and flowing over with so much emotion that he wanted nothing more than to just drown in the ocean within them.
And then they fell together, her hands holding his face as her lips pressed against his, and Lucas could’ve cried at how wonderful it felt, how he’d longed to be able to feel her so close to him, safe and present and wanting him there with her. He kissed her back, their lips slanting together as the kiss deepened with their shared need to be assured that this was real, that they were together, that they were okay. He leaned against her touch as she cradled his face in her hands, and his own hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer. And all else in the world, all the uncertainty, fear and misery in it no longer mattered for him, for just as long as he could stay here, being held by her, feeling her soft, eager lips on his. As he want downstairs still shocked that they both basically maked out “Woah what happened to you?” Mike exclaimed We kind of kissed so I—"  “Wait, who kissed?"
Lucas had screwed his eyes shut, cursing inwardly as Will had walked into the kitchen. That was it then for that private discreet conversation. "Did you kiss Max?" Will had asked, his brows high in surprise. But before Lucas had had time to form any kind of an answer, Dustin had spoken up, waving his hands around. “Wait, wait, wait, hold up!"
Since it had been raining pretty much non-stop since the storm, it took nearly a week until the fence was fully fixed. Once it was finally finished, the group decided to celebrate with a movie night, Max’s first one at the house. Back to the Future was picked as the first movie of the night, just like they’d discussed back in the attic, and after dinner was done, they all gathered around to watch it. That night the rain had eased a little, but it still pattered lightly against the roof of the porch outside, dripping down the gutter in a sheer curtain against the dark woods. There was a fire quietly burning in the fireplace and with the staticky glow of the TV and the comfortable couches grouped around it, it was all warm and cozy in the living room as the familiar movie played on. They had reached the prom night sequence at the end of it, when Lucas could no longer ignore the debate rising up around him about the technicalities of the movie’s conflict.
“No but if she really had boinked her son, then the son wouldn’t be there to be boinked in the first place!” Robin argued with Steve.
“Well yeah, but I’m just asking that if she had, then what would’ve happened?” Steve explained, gesturing towards the tv with his handful of popcorn, laying back on the couch, his legs kicked up on the armrest.
“Well nothing, because then the movie couldn’t have even happened,” Dustin pointed out from the floor, leaning back against the couch.
“On the account of – you know – the main character not existing,” he deadpanned, looking up at Steve. Steve just shrugged, mumbling in a “just asking” , and Dustin turned back with an eyeroll.
“Wait, so how does the picture fading thing factor into all of this then?” Steve persisted after a minute and there were groans from everyone around.
“Guys, it’s a movie. They probably didn’t think that much about it,” Max pointed out with a sigh. She was sitting on the couch next to Lucas, having pulled her legs up comfortably onto her seat. He still hadn’t found a chance to talk to her, but he didn’t mind for now, just enjoying getting to sit with her and watch a movie they both liked. He once again found himself wondering, imagining what it would’ve been like for Max to be involved in those happy memories. Back to the Future came out in early July, just a couple weeks before his family’s trip to California. He wondered where Max had seen it for the first time, if she had a local theater she went to all the time, if she also had a group of friends that schemed their way into R-rated movies. She’d told him about her friends that she’d hung out with at the skate park, maybe they’d joined her to go see Back to the Future on opening weekend just like him and his friends had. It felt strange to imagine, the two of them sitting in movie theaters at the same time, just at the opposite sides of the country, not knowing the other even existed yet, but still already getting to share something great before even meeting.
 “Right, Lucas?” “Huh?” Lucas sounded, confused, blinking his eyes awake from totally spacing out. Max was looking up at him, her hand on his arm, trying to get his attention. And she was successfully getting it, how could she not when she was sitting that close to him, practically leaning against his side, her eyes right on him, bright and attentive. Too bad he didn’t have a clue what she was asking him about. “Good thing we’re not having this argument about the Mad Max movies. You’d lose,” she said in a half-whisper, her voice low but light in mischief. He turned to look at her, feeling his eyes straining a bit to look at her face so close to his, but he didn’t focus on it for too long, too busy being spellbound by her, the smug smile on her lips, her eyes narrowing just slightly in challenge, the blue of them bright. There was a strand of hair laying on her face, the end of it curling to lightly touch her freckled cheek just below the light scar on her cheekbone. She was so beautiful.
Lucas gulped.  He needed to talk to her. And soon. Everything he wanted to say to her, to ask her, was bubbling up within him, dangerously close to spilling out every time he looked at her. The words were building up in his chest, making it ache not to let them out for her to hear. “Hey,” Lucas said, his voice hushed, careful, as he pushed past his nerves and reached out to lightly set his hand on Max's shoulder to get her attention. Max turned to look at him.
“What’s up?” she asked, her tone light, relaxed, glancing over at El who’d just walked into the bedroom.
“I was wondering if you maybe wanted to talk for a bit?” Lucas asked, trying his best to sound casual about this and not let his nerves show.
His hand reached up to scratch at the back of his neck.
“With, um, me,” he added, hoping Max caught onto what he meant, that he wanted to talk to her alone. It seemed like she did, her eyes seeming to widen in understanding.
“Oh, um, sure, I’ll just…” she muttered, instantly avoiding his gaze, looking over at El who was lingering by the doorway, turned to rummage through a chest of drawers, but her ears were perked, Lucas was sure of it.
“Hey El,” Max called out to her.
“Yes?” El replied instantly, turning to look back. Yeah, she’d been listening for sure.
“I’m gonna go downstairs and make myself some tea. Do you want me to make you some?” Max asked, coming up with an excuse scarily fluently.
“No, I’m fine. But thanks, though,” El said with a polite smile, but Lucas knew her well enough to notice the knowing quirk of her lips.
“Okay, well, um, I’ll be right back,” Max told her, turning to head back towards the stairs.
“Sure you will,” El replied, turning to walk away, her voice sing-songy and smug and all too knowing. Lucas felt his face heat up. Oh she knew. For sure.
“Come on, let’s go,” Max said, brushing past him, her hand lightly touching his arm as she did, before quietly making her way down the stairs. Lucas followed after her as she walked into the empty kitchen, picking up the kettle and going to fill it. It once again felt like there was a string connecting him to her, pulling him along through the quiet house. And he was going along happily.
“Alright, what did you wanna talk about?” Max asked, walking over to the stove and lifting the kettle up onto it. She flicked on the gas, and the small flames worked to lit up the mostly dark kitchen a little.
“You have until this boils, or El’s going to get suspicious,” she remarked, fiddling with the gas dial a little before she was happy with it.
“I don’t know what she could be suspicious about. It’s just a friendly little chat,” Lucas pointed out in order to lighten the mood, settling to stand by the kitchen table.
“Right, right, of course,” Max nodded, folding her arms across her chest, going to lean back against a counter across from him. The warm flicker of the stove lit up her face, her light smirk, the set of her brows, the joking glint in her blue eyes. The expression he'd learned to know well over the time they'd known each other.
“I just, umm,” Lucas started after a moment, trying to figure out how to form his words. They'd been swirling around his brain non-stop for the past two weeks, but now that he finally had the chance to let them out, he was having trouble forming them into something coherent.
“These past couple of weeks have been so busy, so I just…”
He shrugged.
“I wanted to check in on you. To ask how you were doing,” he said , looking at Max.
“Oh, well um,” she voiced, stopping to think too, looking out the dark window to form her answer. Lucas bit his lip in hesitation. It had probably been a stupid question from him, things were still plenty complicated, asking her to say how she was doing in a simple word or two was a lot to ask.
“I’m fine, I think," Max eventually replied, turning to look at him.
"Me and El are making progress, I’m getting used to the whole” — she brought her hands up, wiggling her fingers around her head — “mindreading thing.”
It was a little silly, but it made Lucas break into a soft smile. He couldn't help it.
“It must be weird,” he pointed out.
“It is," Max nodded. But then she shrugged.
"But it’s not too bad. If you ever get the chance, I’d recommend you give it a go," she said, her tone light, like she was recommending him a book he should check out.
“Okay, I’ll keep that in mind,” Lucas replied, his tone matching hers in lightness.
They were quiet for a moment, the thrum of rain against the roof of the porch melding with the soft flicker of the flames of the stove making the quiet calm, not tense at all.
“No, but it’s really been nice," Max spoke up after a bit, her tone more sincere now.
"Being in the house with everyone, getting to know everyone,” she added, looking around them in the kitchen. She turned to look down at her hands, twisting them together.
“I know that it would make sense for them all to hate me, so considering that, everybody’s been super nice.”
“I know I haven’t won them all over yet, but I’m getting there, I think."
“You’re starting to get closer with Mike, I saw him agreeing with you earlier,” Lucas pointed out, trying to remind her of her progress.
“Oh my god, right?" Max replied right away, her eyes big in surprise as she looked up at him. “I was shocked he did. It looks like I’m starting to tire him out," she pointed out and Lucas breathed out a light laugh. She really was, and he was glad that after their talk, Mike was making an effort to not be so standoffish with her. He really appreciated it.
After another silent moment, Max shifted in her spot, rubbing at her arms, a soft smile lighting up her face as she stared into the flames.
“It was nice. Finally getting that movie night,” she said, her voice quiet but sincere. Lucas felt a weight in his chest at the thought of her maybe doubting that she would get it.
“I wasn’t going to break my promise about it,” he pointed out. “I knew you wouldn’t,” Max said, and when he looked up from the stove and at her again, he noticed she was already looking at him, the quiet softness of her words also in her gaze. She’d held onto his promise, trusted him to be true to his word. And that was all he could ever ask for.  Even though neither of them had moved, it suddenly felt like there was way too much space separating them. The floor of the small kitchen was now feeling like a huge swath of land that held them apart, and Lucas really wanted to cross it and go to her, to reel in the string connecting them. But it was Max who moved first, going over to check on the kettle, lightly feeling the side of it with the back of her hand. It didn’t seem to be too warm yet.  “But, um…” she voiced, crossing her arms again, her steps meandering as she walked along the row of kitchen counters, slowly getting closer to him.
“Was there anything else you wanted to talk about?” she asked. The question was conversational, but he noticed she was avoiding looking at him in the eye. Unlike him, Max was pretty good at hiding her thoughts. She was good a poker after all. But he’d spent enough time with her now to start to notice her small tells. And her avoiding eye contact was one of them. It told him that her question held more in it than appeared on the surface.
“Yes, I umm…” Lucas started, swallowing hard, trying to get the words out. The nerves spiking in him, the ones making his palms sweat and his tongue feel heavy, made him want to let it go. To chicken out and say that he had nothing to add. But then he looked at Max, saw her stopping to also stand by the table, setting her hand on the spoke-back of a chair, just a couple of feet from him. And he saw the vulnerable, hopeful look in her eye as she dared a glance over at him from under her lashes. “There was, actually,” he admitted, the words feeling like a held breath being let out. Her eyes snapped back to meet his, more concentrated now as she waited for him to speak. She was very still as she watched him, waiting with what seemed like bated breath for him to continue. It helped him to get the words out, though they were still meandering and awkward as they left his mouth.
“In the past two weeks, we haven’t really gotten the chance to talk about everything,” he said, rethreading what he’d said before.
“You know, with how you’re settling in, how you’re feeling with the mind-connection, all that. But also, um…” His mouth was dry with nerves, and he gulped, now the one to avoid eye contact as he finally got the words out.
“The kiss.”
“What about it?” Max asked, all nonchalant, but as Lucas dared a glance over at her, he could see the smallest twitch of the corner of her mouth, giving her nerves away. She was avoiding looking at him again, looking out across the dark kitchen.
“Well I just… I don’t know, wanted to know if you… if you thought it was—”
“A mistake or something?” Max cut in and for a fraction of a second Lucas felt his heart sink in his chest. But then he saw from the corner of his eye as Max turned to face him more, and then quickly continued:
“No, of course not.”
And now his heart was soaring, spreading a warmth all through him. He didn’t know what to say.
“I mean, I don’t think it was. But if you—” Max added, the words fast, her nerves truly showing now as she rushed to explain.
“No, I don’t think it was either,” Lucas quickly spoke up, turning towards her too. The last thing he wanted was her misjudging his silence for him not agreeing with her.
“Okay good,” Max said, visibly exhaling at his reply.
“Yeah,” he replied with a nod. She glanced up at him shortly before turning to look away again.
“Sorry, I’m making this all awkward, I just…” he spoke up again, the words spilling out of him now as he wanted to explain everything that had been filling his mind lately.
“I just needed to talk to you about it. Because these past couple of weeks, I—” he let out a nervous laugh, looking down, reaching to scratch the back of his neck. But there was also a smile inching its way onto his face.
“Well I don’t think I’ve stopped thinking about it.”
“Me neither,” Max said from next to him. The words came out quiet, nearly a whisper. But as he turned to look at her, she looked right back, no hesitation on her face, only a warm blush on her cheeks. And he couldn’t stop the dopey, lopsided smile from spreading to his face as he held her gaze, feeling like his heart was going to burst right out of his chest. And then she moved closer, her hand finding his on top of the kitchen table, covering it with a light squeeze.
They stood like that for a while, listening to the silence, taking in the words that had been shared between them, their hands connected.
“So where do we go from here?” Max asked after a minute, her voice still quiet but more relaxed now, genuine in the question. Lucas shrugged.
“I don’t know. I mean, we haven’t really done this before. Last time we kissed, you ran off and I flew halfway across the country, so we didn’t have to think about this part,” he explained, his lips lifting into a nostalgic smile.
“True,” Max acknowledged, a smile also on her face as she looked out across the room.
“Well I mean, the way I see it…” she started up again, her brows knitting in thought. Lucas turned to her, hearing what she had to say.
“Everything’s a mess anyways. With the world, with me. We don’t know what’s going to happen,” she explained, and he nodded along faintly. He was starting to get worried about where her train of thought was leading, but then he felt her squeezing his hand. Looking up at her again, he saw she was looking down at their clasped hands.
“But I really like this,” she said, giving him another light squeeze in emphasis.
“And I’d like to keep going with this, to see where it goes,” she ended with.
Lucas was at a loss for words once again, just watching her, counting the freckles on her face in the near-dark in an effort to try to make sure if this was real or not. But it turned out he didn’t have to be the one to speak up when Max did, her gaze flickering up to meet his again.
“I really like you,” she said.
There so often seemed to be a wall across her face, concealing her true feelings from the world, keeping them safe from hurt, from disappointment. But it wasn’t there now. There was just her and the pale blue of her eyes holding steadily onto his. A little terrified, but still sure. And Lucas wasn’t sure how he was still breathing.
“I really like you too.”
It felt a little small, too humble of a way to word all that he felt for her. But it felt right too, in the quiet of the cozy dark kitchen. The world around them was huge and vast and terrifying. Maybe something small was just what they needed.
Max didn’t say anything, just ducked her head down, biting her lips together to suppress a smile. A strand of hair fell across her face as she did, and he wanted to reach his hand over to fix it for her. And that wasn’t the only thing he wanted to do.
“I really want to kiss you again,” he admitted before he could think too much about it, and it wasn’t the smoothest thing ever, he was probably coming off way too awkward and nervous. But he couldn’t help it. And luckily Max didn’t seem to mind, letting out a light laugh, bumping her shoulder with his.
“Well that's good. Cause I really want to kiss you too," she said.
They turned together, their hands shifting on the tabletop, Max’s fingers lightly intertwining with his. And then she leaned up and he ducked his head down to meet her and placed his lips lightly on hers. When he pulled back a second later, he felt her hand coming up to cup his cheek, keeping him close. And then her fingers flexed against his on the table, squeezing them just a little tighter. And as she pulled, he came along, their lips meeting again and delving deeper, his free hand instinctively reaching out to gently hold her waist.
Her hand climbed up to the back of his neck, tugging him down and closer to her, and as she lightly brushed her fingers along the hairs at the back of his neck, Lucas felt goosebumps spreading along his skin.
His head was spinning, and he had half a mind to wonder if he should pull back for air, but then again if he would pass out feeling this amazing, he really wouldn’t mind. His hand was on the small of her back now, guiding her closer still, reeling in the last inches of the string connecting them. He was pretty much losing all coherent thought as her fingers ventured up into his hair, her lips continuing to glide along his.
And then the kettle whistled loudly.
“Oh, shit, right,” Max mumbled as she drew away, blinking her eyes, disoriented as she swirled her head back towards the stove.
“I’ve got it,” Lucas told her, lightly squeezing her side in reassurance before quickly going over to lift the kettle off the stove. He set it onto a potholder before turning off the gas. Things were going too well; he wasn’t going to be responsible for a fire.
“Thanks,” Max said, and he looked back to see her tucking hair behind her ears, her reddened cheeks visible even in the near dark. And it made his heart thump against his ribs, realizing it was in reaction to their kiss, that she’d liked it as much as he had. Max met his eye and they stared at each other for a moment, catching their breaths, both processing what had just happened. Her lips were slightly parted as she took in deep breaths and he just couldn’t stop looking at them, couldn’t stop recalling how soft and wonderful they’d felt as they’d moved together with his. God, he wanted to kiss her again and never stop.
“So, um, tea?” Lucas spoke up, his voice breaking awkwardly as he tried to focus, going to pick up the tin box of tea bags.
“Right, can’t forget about that,” Max said, her voice also a bit awkwardly high as she briskly made her way across the kitchen.
“Otherwise El will totally see right through me,” she added, taking the box he was holding out for her and popping open the lid. As she started to fish through the contents for a tea bag Lucas turned to lean back against the counter by the stove.
“Well you know, it’s okay if you tell her,” he said, his tone careful again. He didn’t want to assume things for Max, but if it were up to him, he wouldn’t mind telling everyone about them. Max didn’t say anything, her focus still on the box of tea
Horned Shadows
Word Count: 769
Warnings: Blood, slight gore, mentions of vore
So I've been gone a while and my brain really wanted a g/t story so here are a few of my babies. I plan on doing multiple parts to this and a part of me wants to do art too but I'm kinda nervous. Anyway, enjoy💕
🌿🌿🌿
Dahnali flies out of her water oak tree home, ready to go collect a few necessities. Things have been getting low with all the rain making her unable to actually go out and get things. Today it seemed like the rain would be giving her a little time. As long as it didn't start pouring again she could probably do what she needs too. With that in mind the pink haired fairy flies to a nearby clearing she knows to have a few types of berries she can eat and use to make things. What she doesn't expect is to find another person already there. Sitting against a nearby tree is what looks to be a giant, the curved brown horns give it away almost immediately. Nali immediately freezes up, not wanting to be seen by the huge monster. Out of many of the other beings in the forest, giants are known to be dangerous. They tend to be carnivorous and though they prefer humans they'll eat fae if they're hungry enough. Being slurped down by something that big was definitely not on the small beings to do list today so she begins to leave, that is until something catches her attention.
The dark haired giant in question is covered in a red liquid. Once she looks at him a little longer she takes notice of the gash on his lower abdomen. He holds onto it, seemingly looking around for anything that may help. He seems desperate, she however is not willing to risk her life for the possibility of healing someone. That is until she sees another giant approach him, female this time with tears falling from her hazel eyes. It's clear she expects to lose her friend and doesn't know what to do. She does seem to notice the pink light that Nali amits though, staring her down with a look of longing. She knows exactly what she is and knows she can help but knows the small being has no reason to actually help them.
Nali begins to fly off, not willing to risk her life, but a voice stops her. "W-Wait…..please….I know what you are…..and I know you don't trust us but…..I'm begging you to help….please." The giantess states, her voice trembling with desperation. Nali sighs at this. Helping means physically touching them and the thought of that makes her physically sick with anxiety. The hurt in the woman's voice however…..it breaks her heart. Taking a deep breath to build up the courage, the fae flies over two the two gargantuan beings. As she gets closer the size difference truly hits her, she's no bigger than their fingernail. Her small heart begins beating rapidly as she watches them, not trusting them not to try anything. The male giant she saw from the beginning moves his hand so she can see the wound. The gash cuts through multiple layers of skin and she's surprised his intestines are staying put. How could something this bad have happened?
"C-Can you heal him?" The giantess asks, keeping her voice as gentle and soft as possible. The fae gets closer, hands trembling from fear. The two giants watch, in awe of the small being before them. The glow that surrounds her begins to encase the gash and it begins to heal. Nali puts everything she has into getting the cut to close but she can only get a few layers of skin healed before the world begins to fade in and out. She stops, trying to maintain consciousness and avoid being at the mercy of these two but the darkness finally wins. The last thing she sees is the beautiful, freckled face of the giantess from before as she falls onto an unusually warm and soft surface below her.
🌿🌿🌿
The giantess easily catches the tiny being in her hand, in awe of her size. Her brother immediately sits up, worried after seeing the small one fall.
"Is she okay?" He asks, worry in his rather deep voice. The giantess brings her hand up to her face, trying to get a better look at the unimaginably small being. She sees her tiny chest rise and fall and lets out a sigh of relief as she stands.
"I think so…..we should probably get out of here before the others come. Can you get up?" The giantess asks, putting out her free hand for her brother. He takes it she she carefully helps him to his feet. The two of them check their surroundings thoroughly before running into the nearby woods, tiny fae in hand.
Good Ol' Fashioned Lover Boy | | Ronald Billius Weasley
summary: based on the song “good ol’ fashioned lover boy” by queen. it was very obvious that Ron had a crush on you, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. so, what else were you supposed to do other than pester him about it?
word count: 1639
warnings: food. that's about it, it's fluff.
master list
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can dim the lights and sing you songs full of sad things
We can do the tango just for two
I can serenade and gently play on your heartstrings
Be a Valentino just for you
It was obvious to everyone. What was obvious exactly? That Ron Weasley had a crush on you. You didn’t remember exactly when you found out, but that was never on your mind. The only thing you could seem to think of is when your crush would ask you out.
You had gotten up from the red couch in the common room of the Gryffindor tower. You saw Ron look up at you and smile before pretending to look back at the book in front of him.
“Hey, Ron!” You said happily as you walked over to him. You sat down in the chair on his right, thankful that the trio hadn’t decided to study in the library.
“Hey, Y/N.” He replied, a slight pink tint on his pale and freckled-covered cheeks. You giggled as your eyes went over his figure. His strawberry-orange hair dangling in front of his eyes, his pale skin glowing from the glare of the fireplace to their right.
Harry and Hermione quickly looked at each other before getting up with their books.
“We just realized that we need to go save some seats at the table if the three of us wanna eat lunch together. Y/N you’re welcome to eat with us.” Hermione said, a slight smile on her lips as she looked at the two people in front of her.
You nodded your head and sat down beside Ron as you watched Harry and Hermione leave, whispering to each other as they kept glancing back at you two.
Ooh, love
Ooh, loverboy
“So, Ron. How are you? I always catch you looking at me during class, so I figured there was some part of you that wanted to talk to me.” you said, both of your cheeks turning pink at the thought of him looking at you.
“I’m good, even better now that you're here.” His hand slowly slid closer to yours, his pinky barely touching yours. His lips curled up into a smirk as he watched you blush even harder at the slight touch he gave you.
Whatcha doing tonight?
Hey boy
Set my alarm, turn on my charm
That’s because I’m a good old fashioned lover boy
“I have a question for you, Y/N. Would you wanna go with me to Hogsmeade tomorrow?” he asked, his gaze falling on your figure as he watched your reaction. “Don’t worry, if you wanna go as friends we can, I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable. We don’t have to go together at all if you don’t want to go,” he said nervously after a few minutes of silence.
“Is it a date?” You asked nervously, your hand quickly moving to pick at your nails on the other side. He nodded his head as he watched you.
“Then yeah, I’d love to go on a date with you,” you said quietly, feeling your heartbeat against your ribcage. He smiled and put his hands in his lap before looking at the clock, quickly grabbing his books, and walked to the great hall.
Ooh, feel my heartbeat ( grow faster, faster )
Ooh, can you feel my love heat?
Come on, sit on my hot seat of love and tell me “how do you feel right after all”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Write my letter, feel much better
And use that fancy patter on the telephone
You sat across from Ginny and Neville as you two started talking about your homework.
“Neville, I don’t understand how you’re amazing at herbology, I’m terrible at it.” You said, your fork barely touching the plate in front of you.
“I’m not amazing at it, I just like the class,” he replied, blushing at the compliment.
“You are amazing at it though. For instance, in our fourth year, I would have never thought of giving Harry that gillyweed.” You heard the owlery hatch open and you looked up confused as you saw your owl with a letter.
You quickly opened it and smiled as you noticed Ron’s handwriting. You folded the letter up and put it in your jacket before looking up at him.
“We’re still on for that date, Ron. You’re not getting rid of me that easily.” you smiled as you poked your fork into his arm. He giggled as he looked at you.
“Good, I’d be rather upset if you had already changed your mind.” He smiled and looked at your lips as the same daydreams played in his head. You blushed and went back to talking to Neville and Ginny as you tried to tune him out.
You heard Dumbledore tell everyone that lunch was over and that the teachers were waiting outside to go to Hogsmeade. You stood up and walked outside as you waited for Ron. He saw you and quickly said goodbye to the people around him as he rushed over to you.
When I’m not with you, think of you always
I miss you
When I’m not with you, think of me always
I love you ( love you )
“Hey, Ron. I had gotten worried you chickened out on me.” You teased as you lightly pushed him. He giggled and held your hand as he looked at you.
“I didn’t chicken out, Fred and George kept trying to give me advice.” he turned red at the thought of their conversation as he tried to shake the thought of it out of his head.
“What did they say?” you asked confused, your thumb tracing patterns on the back of his hand as you looked at him. He quickly whispered things into your ear and you turned red.
“I might use the advice later though,” he mumbled, his lips curling into a smirk at the idea of you on your knees. You heard him and turned even more red as you hid your face into the sleeve of his jacket.
“Oh shut it,” you mumbled, embarrassed.
Hey boy, where’d you get it from?
Hey boy, where did you go?
I learned it from the good ol’ fashioned school of lover boys.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Which store do you wanna go to first?” He asked as you two walked around Hogsmeade.
“Do you wanna go to Honeydukes first? I heard Fred and George say how they were gonna go to Zonkos and then leave rats inside Honeydukes after, and I don’t want to deal with those rodents.” you looked at him and squeezed his hand.
“Ladies first,” he said and you smiled as he opened the door for you. You quickly headed inside and headed to the back of the store. He walked after you and smiled.
“Do you want to get a chocolate frog? I can’t reach them.” you pointed up to the high shelf and smiled as he reached up and handed it to you.
“Here you go, darling.” he teased, his lips ghosting against yours as he put the piece of candy in the basket you were holding. You blushed and quickly turned around as you put some more candy in the basket.
Dining at the Ritz’s, we’ll meet at 9, precisely
( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 o’clock )
I will pay the bill, you taste the wine
“So where do you want to go now?” you asked as you headed to the cash register, slowly putting everything in the basket on the counter.
“We can go to The Leaky Cauldron and share a butterbeer if you want.” He took out his wallet and paid for the candy, ignoring your confused expression.
“Why did you pay for that?” You took the bag and headed outside, holding Ron’s hand as you walked.
“I’m the one that asked you one the date-” you cut him off. “ I know, but that was also all for me, it doesn’t seem fair.” He cupped her face and looked down at her.
“I don’t care if you think it is fair or not, I asked you out on this date and I will pay for it,” he replied as he looked you in the eyes, blushing as he felt you melt into his hands.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Driving back in style to my saloon will do quite nicely
Take me back to yours that will be fine
Come on and get it
The two of you headed back to Hogwarts, your fingers intertwined with one another as the sun started to set.
“Thanks for the date, Ron. I enjoyed it.” you looked up at him and smiled as the two of you stood in the common room.
“You’re welcome, Y/N. I enjoyed it too.” he smiled back as he looked down at you, his eyes fully taking in your figure as you stood before him. You felt your heart start beating faster and faster as you two made eye contact, the two of you slowly leaning into one another.
Ooh, love
Ooh, loverboy - whatcha doing tonight?
Hey boy
“Can I kiss you?” he asked, his lips ghosting yours as his hand was placed on the side of your cheek.
“Please do.” You begged, your pinks turning even darker as he slowly leaned in, his lips touching yours as the two of you kissed, the world seemed to melt around you.
And for the first time in forever, you felt complete.
Everythings alright, just hold on tight that’s because I’m a good old
( fashioned, fashioned )
Loverboy
what comes after fate | kuroo tetsurou
synopsis: they say the number three is reserved for what fate has in store, and you just hope that on the third time, kuroo tetsurou would finally choose you.
characters: kuroo tetsurou, you
genre: hurt/comfort, another promotion 4 self love once again
wc: 3200+
a/n: this baby has so much self projection r we even surprised anymore
-
“I’m always here for you,” is what you used to say instead of “I love you,” because for a while, Tetsurou’s heartfelt “Thank you,” sufficed.
You never bothered to learn her name, but you knew he called her love. And it was fitting, you think. Because the first time around, when you were only nineteen and feeling like all that you’ll ever have in the world will be found in the now—love was what was in front of you.
But in front of him was her.
She with the sweet dimpled smiles, freckled cheeks under the right amount of sunshine, and the waters of the pacific for eyes.
She.
Her.
Love.
So for Kuroo Tetsurou—what he thought was his future was her. His love.
Then for you, what you thought was love was him.
Tetsurou who used to be the boy who snuck into your room from your windows, a bag of donuts in one hand, and his car keys in the other. The love you sought to be part of your future was what was in the moment. Him.
And even if the summer nights you spent with him meant listening to stories of she whose name you still can’t recall—it was fine. Because when you were sixteen, those same nights in bloom where the stars above that twinkled brighter than the city lights looked down on you—you knew there would always be a slice in history when it was just the both of you.
“She’s something else,” you’d listen to him say, and the way Tetsurou’s eyes would squint when he smiled at the sky only had you thinking that it looked like he was looking at the sun instead of the moon.
Love, you come to conclude, wasn’t blind. It was what gave the smallest details the brightest spotlights as it comes into center stage.
For him it was the way love would scrunch her nose at his questions, tuck her hair behind her ear when she was called to answer a question in class, and quite evidently his favorite—the way her voice would hike up half a pitch if she was flustered enough.
And when Tetsurou would turn to face you and ask, “Have you ever been in love?” with his voice as breathless as you always caught yourself to be when he smiles at you, you could only nod your head.
“I guess I have,” would come your reply as you exhale. Your truth being the very thing that has your heart racing one minute before diving recklessly in the next.
“Who?” Tetsurou would ask, his voice always teasing.
He smiles, gold eyes glowing like the bokeh of streetlights faded in the background, and the sight has you holding your breath.
“Just someone,” you’d reply and pray that your message somehow reaches him despite the wordless confession.
“Someone, huh,” he’d repeat your words with an almost dreamlike expression as he turns away and looks up at the stars again. The summer breeze tugs at the sleeve of your blouse and as it leaves you exhale your truth with it.
“What if it’s you?” you say, looking at him, and the wind retreats to the trees as it gives your truth the chance to be known with a stage of silence.
“What do you mean me?” Tetsurou asks quietly.
The wind stays in the trees, the leaves rustling the only thing you can hear with the silence that hangs in the air. You can’t tell if it’s on your side or not, so you turn from the skies and face him instead.
“That’s just my truth,” you tell him, smiling softly.
He smiles at you, eyes patient and the hand that found yours warm.
“Your truth, huh?” he repeats next to you again, and your heart flutters at the silver lining you found in his eyes. And that same silver lining was what ignited the flames of hope in you that lasted far longer than you would have liked.
After you spoke your truth, what you saw in the smile he offered you was the first step, and because you loved him, you took it upon yourself to walk three steps forward instead of only one.
Love really wasn’t blind, you realize again. In your case, it was just blinding.
-
You were still blinded after that night, and you don’t come to realize it as soon as you would have preferred to.
The first time Tetsurou loves, seven months later he lets go and returns to you with a tremble in his lips and a yearning for the comfort that left his heart.
“You just love too much,” you wanted to say, but before the words could pass your lips, you were rendered speechless as the epiphany strikes you that you weren’t far off from where he was.
Too much, being the fact that you still stayed despite the morning after you laid your truth bare, he came to you with love holding his hand and a newfound radiance laced with his smile. But it worked out, you suppose, because seven months later Tetsurou stands in front of you again with his car keys in one hand and a bag of donuts in the other.
“Sappy nights and star gazing again?” are the words he says coupled with the same pair of golden eyes are what took you to release the tension in your shoulders and slip back in the cycle.
The cycle, being the fact that you’re lying on your backs in the very field you set your truth free, with his eyes and the background bokeh lights making you want to take another dive again. Beside you, Tetsurou is silent, but the look on his face is making you wonder if he’s struggling to explain the infinite all over again.
“I should have just loved you,” is what he says to break the silence, and just like that, your heart’s leaping to dive again.
“You still can, you know,” you answer, because you mean it. The truth of the matter was you always were still there despite his departure. Your heart left at the gate for him to claim when—if—he returned, while your body waited somewhere nearby to watch for his arrival.
“I’ve always been and I always will be here for you, Tetsu,” you finish, smiling with the honesty wrapped with your words.
“Are you really giving your heart that easily?” Tetsurou asks, and his voice you hear more than a sliver of vulnerability, so you take that as a cue to wade in waters even deeper by yourself. The golds of his eyes looked like the embers of a fire, but despite the absence of flame you still could feel the resonance of warmth.
You want to keep the warmth, so you fan the flames.
“That’s just my truth, Tetsu,” you tell him with nothing but raw vulnerability.
The wind ceases to rustle in the trees, because in this night, you feel it dancing on your shoulders: on the strands of your hair that you fastened with a clip behind your hair, and at Tetsurou’s lashes as he stares and blinks at you slowly.
“You said the same thing back then,” he laughs in a whisper, and when he leans in—you stay as still as the wind that you barely even realize has stopped moving.
“Because I meant it,” you try to say, but his lips are already on yours before the thoughts in your brain could even get a chance to try to connect.
Every word of it, you think to yourself as you look at Tetsurou, with his eyes closed and face up, bathing in moonlight.
-
He doesn’t call you love, like he did with her, but he calls you friend.
“I guess we just got carried away,” he tells you a few weeks later, and for the second time, you can only nod your head, mouth silent, but thoughts raging at his words.
You think about that night, of his sadness, then at how lonely his lips felt pressed against yours. Perhaps “carried away,” really was a good way to explain things, because in the second time you saw the silver lining for reciprocation in his eyes again, instead of taking one step and meeting him in the middle—you took it upon yourself to leap to three and meet him at his doorstep instead.
Only he hadn’t bothered to cross his own threshold as you already made it way past the boundary of yours.
But it should have been fine, because love was patient, right?
So you offer him a smile, knocking your shoulder against his again and exhaling silently as you swirl the melting cubes of ice around your glass again.
The world outside is storming, so the café the two of you found served as a nice refuge to let the storm pass.
The condensation drips on the side, and as you look at the rain still pouring outside, in that moment you feel a little trapped.
“You figured yourself out?” you ask him, nudging at his shoulder and setting your gaze down to look at your drink.
For a few moments, Tetsurou doesn’t answer you, instead opting to just keep his attention focused on the raindrops beating against the window the two of you are sat behind.
“How do we even know if we figured ourselves out?” he eventually chuckles, his shoulders dropping at the change of atmosphere.
You grin, not exactly sure how to formulate the answer to his question with only words, but you let out a sigh and attempt to do so anyway.
“We don’t,” you tell him truthfully. “I guess there are just moments where we feel so sure of something that it feels like we have shit figured out, but that could also change in the next moment. I guess what I’m meaning to ask is if anything has clicked for you at the moment?”
“I guess there has,” he tells you, setting his gaze down for a brief second. That’s when you notice the slight tug at the corner of his lips, so you drop your straw back down the glass and give him a pointed look.
“Care to share?” you say with a laugh.
“I don’t wanna break your heart,” is Tetsurou’s truth, because when he turns to face you for the first time that night—you can see hesitation evident in his eyes.
“Because I love you?” you ask, not really seeking for an answer, but you get one anyway when Tetsurou hangs his head and reshifts his gaze to something in the corner of the table.
“I already told you two truths before, didn’t I?” you question him once more, and beside you, Tetsurou stays silent instead of just nodding his head.
“I guess I owe you another truth then,” you start, pushing your ice filled glass to the side and folding your arms in front of you as you lean forward on the table.
Facing forward, you look at the force of the rain, then listen for the sound of the wind that hides behind no trees this time because tonight it’s in front of you raging as if to say it’s really time for you to spill your truth—in its entire vulnerability.
So take it as a cue, and do just that.
“You’ve already broken my heart twice, Tetsu. I think I still have it in me to take one more,” you declare in a voice that isn’t a whisper, and just how it was in the past, your heart still managed to leap with your words.
“I can take it,” you repeat, locking eyes with him through the reflection of the darkened window in front of you. Because of the distortion, you can’t read the expression in his eyes. Tetsurou was someone who always happened to be just the right kind of transparent for you, because for as long as you’ve known him—his emotions were as easy to read as the intention he expressed them with.
First, he sighs: the kind that’s deep and slowly released like he’s an old man looking over his will. Then, he turns his head again to look at you, and you could already see the apology swimming in the golden eyes you’ve come to adore before he could open his mouth.
“I’m sorry,” it says, and when you focus on the sounds of the rain instead of his voice that comes, the only thing you can read from his lips was because for him love, had always been her.
Tetsurou’s love, whose name you still can’t recall to this day.
Love, with her ocean eyes and poetry for words, and you can’t hate her because you don’t even know her.
“Friends?” he asks you, and you only shoot a smile his way, before looking forward at the windows again.
If something was fate, you recall, it happens on the third time. As you wait for the rain to slow, you allowed yourself to fall in step with the silence so you could gather your thoughts.
A phone rings—Tetsurou’s, you recognize, and when he picks it up, there is sunshine in the tone of his voice.
Love, he greets. So, you think about love.
But the love where fate was involved. Three, you think. It was supposed to be on the third.
The first time you meet Tetsurou through the rose colored lenses you wore yourself, the truth you gave him—which he listened to—counted as the first. You scoff inwardly when you think about the outcome, because despite the silver lining he gave you, for him, love was somebody who wasn’t you.
The second, was in that night he kissed you. A kiss that felt like its beginnings came straight from between the pages of a story book. Where prince charming heard your truth once more and decided that this time, love was you, and that this was right.
You realize that you forgot to count the fact that with a fresh wound also came a different sort of vulnerability. The kind where it sought healing more than reason.
And that night, perhaps because you laid yourself bare too—your healing meant his comfort instead of the salvation he sought after.
So the two times he loves, let goes, and cries all with a love that still isn’t you.
Where he loved her once, let go and realized that he loved her still, and for the third time came back to her but this time stayed. The first, second, and third for you meant a rebounded sort of love and misunderstood connections, while the three for him meant the love fate had long promised.
Because in the third, you realize as you listen to him speak to love over the phone—the third, or fate, is where he stays. He talks about her like you would him, and when the rain drops harder with the howling wind, you awaken to the truth that it hurts.
So what comes after the third? you ask the storm outside. You’re also the third storm of the season, so what now?
The wind doesn’t slow, but it rattles at the glass on the window even harder, so you try to find your answer in that. The wind was always on your side, you like to think.
After the third, you begin to think, comes something else. It isn’t the first where you begin again, or the second where you think about second chances and rewriting failed endings. In contrary, it isn’t the third where things finally click together either—like all the movies suggest.
The answer is simple; because what comes after the third is simply the fourth.
The fourth, being the careful steps taken to walk away. Where the heaviness in your chest means that you’re finally facing the blunt of the storm outside the eye of the hurricane. It’s leaving that false safety net that moreso trapped you for a lot longer that you realized, instead of protect you.
It’s grabbing your bag and thanking your lucky stars for bringing an umbrella with you, because you only tap him on the shoulder once and wave goodbye when you’re already halfway out the door. It’s walking through the puddles in your favorite pair of heels and almost losing your balance, if it wasn’t for the unusual gust of wind that kept you upright at the very last second. It’s looking at him when you finally make it across the street, sheltered under an awning, as he only looks down at his drink and smiles the kind of smile that you used to smile for him. It’s crying in vulnerability and thanking the rain along with the rose colored lenses Tetsurou wore because with that he couldn’t see the fact that your heart still hurts despite you saying that you could “take his truth.”
The fourth is saying “fuck you,” and “I’m done,” for as many times as you wish until your lungs give out and your throat becomes more hoarse than relieved. Because at the end of the day, letting yourself cry is a different sort of relief when you’re finally allowing yourself to realize that despite the steps you’ve taken for healing—shit just fucking sucks.
But what comes after fate, most importantly—is yourself.
It’s shaking off the raindrops, drying your hair, and getting in that taxi, the image of golden eyes against bokeh lights the last thing on your mind. Where you don’t shut off your phone, but mute his contact despite the what ifs calling you back at every stoplight.
You’re only reminded of your position in the present when the lights turn green, and just like that, you just go.
Yourself, being the person you begin to prioritize, because when Tetsurou texts you again, a photo of him with his car keys and a familiar box of donuts in hand, your only reply is a quick “I’m busy tonight,” and nothing more.
What comes after fate is yourself because after facing the reality of the storm that’s been raging, and making peace with the message the wind has been trying to deliver, you finally see the waiting sun peaking behind the exhausted rainclouds.
Vanilla skies, you smile. They’re the first thing that greets you, and your breath is stolen just like that.
Tetsurou’s name flashes on your screen again, but you don’t see it. What comes after fate is standing under the swirls of vanilla in the sky while the stars of your yesterday’s midnight sky calls you for company yet again, and you, not bothering to answer.
You think of golden eyes, the bokeh city lights, and the plethora of stars dancing around the moon. Your heart aches, but it’s the kind where it dulls as quick as it comes, so you breathe in and bask in the smell of morning dewdrops after the heavy rainfall.
A missed call, and a text that reads “I miss you” comes.
You leave it unread.
Because truth be told, you always preferred the vanilla skies over the moonlit nights anyway.
Hi everyone! I know I’m not really a fan account, so please feel free to skip over this post if you don’t want to read fanfic! I’ve decided to take part in @helladirections ‘s Summer Feeling writing challenge, and this is what I came up with! Feedback is greatly appreciated, I’m trying to hype myself up into writing again. Also thank you @jasline-arod for being my beta reader, I love you endlessly!<3
Prompts: summer reading & ice cream
Summer storms were quite melancholy.
Harry supposed he was being a bit dramatic, considering (y/n) loved the rain. If it weren’t for the possibility of getting a cold and the wandering eyes from their surrounding neighbors she would be out dancing and skipping around the backyard in the puddles and mud. But alas, their neighbors were a bit too nosy and she couldn’t afford any sick time off at work right now, so she was using this day to clean the house. Some last minute spring cleaning as she called it.
Harry, on the other hand, wanted nothing more than to roll around in the sheets all day with her. The young couple had planned a nice date out for the day: a stroll around the neighborhood, a picnic in the park, maybe some window shopping in the plaza. Their car was currently in the shop so anything they wanted to do would have to be within walking distance -(y/n) really didn’t like Ubering around. Mother Nature apparently had other plans.
Which leads us here. Harry had seen the storm die down and in all of his stubborn brilliance had insisted on making an ice cream run. ‘S just a little drizzle! He maintained. I’ll be back before you know it, Poppet. It turns out “a little drizzle” can easily turn into torrential downpour in the twenty minutes it takes Harry to bike to and from the grocery store. He couldn’t believe his luck, and now as he approached his front door sopping wet and dragging his bike up the steps, he was silently cursing himself for deciding Ben and Jerry’s was worth the trek.
“Babe? Is everything alright?” (Y/n) proffered over the soft music she had put on when he left. She could hear his frustrated grumbles and sighs from the living room and had of course seen the storm pick up.
“ ‘M fine, sweetheart, just a bit wet ‘s all.” Harry griped from the kitchen. He quickly dried off the pints of ice cream and stuck them in the freezer before pouring a bowl of uncooked rice for his cell phone. Flicking off the lights in the kitchen, spotless and dust-free thanks to (y/n), he walked into the living room to find her tucked into the corner of the couch reading a book.
Peering over the pages, her eyes softly danced over her lover -damp and frumpy from the rain outside. He had a slight pout on his face that made her giggle playfully, eyes glittering with nothing but adoration and humor.
“My strong love, fought the rain and thunder just to get his girlfriend ice cream.”
He snorted at her, trying his hardest to hold back a smile. “Think I deserve a prize, don’t you think? It was quite brave of me to go out there, I could’ve gotten swept away by the flood of puddles!”
Her laugh rang like a chime. It was times like this, soft and quiet and domestic, that made his heart skip a beat. She made him delirious and dizzy with love.
“Of course, my love. Your prize is in the bathroom, hanging from the towel rack. I saw the rain pick up and figured you might come home a bit soggy,” She said with a laugh. “Go get changed, when you come back we can lounge about and read together.”
Harry’s heart fluttered as he shuffled out of the living room. When he came back, now changed into a crisp crew neck shirt and some washed worn sweats, he quickly popped over in front of his love. She looked up from the novel in front of her, stars in her eyes. Harry quickly leaned down and showered her in kisses. Anywhere he could reach was covered in smooches. She wiggled and whined playfully as he threw his leg over her waist, but not before grabbing the book and laying it on the coffee table face down. They grappled and playfully dodged kisses until she cried “Alright! Fine you win!” with a ridiculous pout and her hands pinned to the couch under Harry’s grasp.
“You’re so mean,” she pouted through puffs of air.
“Mean ‘m I? Would a mean boyfriend have gone out in the harsh winter storm for-”
“It’s the middle of July!”
“For pints of Chunky Monkey, Phish Food, Karamel Sutra, and Tonight Dough? I don’t think tha’s very mean, d’you?”
Harry swore the sigh she let out sounded harmonious. “No, I suppose not. It sounds like you’re spoiling me, huh?” She tried to loosen his grip again. “Let me up, please?”
He grinned down at her. “Kissy first?”
She leaned up the best she could for a smooch before he let her get back up. Harry laid down on the couch and patted his tummy with the hand not resting under his neck.
“C’mere, let’s read.”
(Y/n) crawled between Harry’s legs and laid between them, her head resting on his soft stomach. “Mm, nice and comfy.”
Harry chuckled with her, loving the warmth and comfort the weight of her gave him. He wrapped an arm around the front of her chest and softly rubbed his thumb over her shoulder.
“Do you want me to start the chapter over?” She asked, perfectly content to reread for him.
“Course not, Petal! Just pick up where you left off, please.”
“ ‘I’m going to America. To seek my fortune.’ (This was just after America but long after fortunes.) ‘A ship sails soon from London. There is great opportunity in America. I’m going to take advantage of it. I’ve been training myself. In my hovel. I’ve taught myself not to need sleep. A few hours only. I’ll take a ten-hour-a-day job and then I’ll take another ten-hour-a-day job and I’ll save every penny from both except what I need to eat to keep strong, and when I have enough I’ll buy a farm and build a house and make a bed big enough for two.’ ”
Harry began to lose focus on the story, instead concentrating on his petal’s voice, soft and clear enough for just the two of them. Almost as if the bubble around them might burst if she spoke too loudly. She began to alter her voice, adding in dashes of accents and key changes as the characters varied. Harry let a heavy breath fall from his nose as he smiled and bit his lip with a smile.
“ ‘Do you love me, Westley? Is that it?’ ”
Harry held his breath.
“ He couldn’t believe it. ‘Do I love you? My God, if your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches. If your love were-’ ”
Now, Harry knows he has a very specific taste in literature. And while he may personally prefer obscene prose and Joan Didion, this line -from a novel built on fantasies -was embroidered on his heart in bright yellow thread. The millions of grains of sand could not even begin to embody how dearly and how fiercely he loved her. His heart physically ached at the thought of her; her presence, her laugh, smile, ambition, everything. He loved (y/n) in a way he never imagined possible. Harry could not even begin to fathom a world without her. And if the little velvet box hidden in an old shoe box behind a ton of winter coats in the upstairs closet was anything to go by, he didn’t want to begin imagining it.
“Lovey, are you okay?” (Y/n) spoke up. She noticed him stiffen up immediately after she finished reading that paragraph.
Silence followed her question. She stuck the loose playing card she had found into the book to mark her place and gently sat up to shift herself in his lap, setting the book down on the coffee table again. Harry was pulled from his thoughts of navy blue suits and white lace gowns when she softly called his name again and stroked his cheeks with her thumbs.
“Is everything alright Harry? You zoned out for quite a while there.”
Harry looked at the heavenly sight in front of him. Her hair was a bit mussed up from the cleaning and the sweat that had no doubt appeared in the slightly humid house. She sat in an old cropped cotton shirt that proudly touted a faded improv club logo from college on it (she had gone to one meeting and of course it was the meeting where they gave out free t-shirts) with wrinkles and dried stains from cleaning spray. Her gray pajama shorts had little line drawings of bumble bees on them, and were currently riding up her thighs as they sat straddling Harry’s hips. He dragged his eyes to look at her face. He swore she was glowing in the grayish sunlight streaming from the windows. Little moles and freckles and acne scars dotted across her makeup-less face. Her eyes were wide and her lips were gaped open slightly in worry as his silence continued.
Harry finally, finally took in a breath (he desperately needed it, he didn’t realize she had literally stolen his breath away) and mumbled “ ‘M fine, petal. I just love you so much,” and with that closed the all too wide gap between them.
Her eyes widened just a bit more before kissing back, her eyes fell closed and her hands held tightly to his cheeks. Harry swore the kiss was meant to be gentle, but then he found himself nibbling on her bottom lip and soothing the slight sting with his tongue when she whined against him. She pulled away breathlessly and looked over his face, now flushed crimson with their movements.
“I love you too!” She breathily laughed. “Let’s-”
Her thoughts were lost as Harry began to kiss a trail from below her ear and down her neck, one hand squeezing her soft hip and the other holding her head in place as she squirmed (she was a bit ticklish). He sucked and softly bit at the junction between her neck and shoulder as she let out a faint moan at the attention being given to the sensitive skin. She ran her fingers through his loose curls and gently led his head back up to meet her lips. She tenderly rolled her hips against his -his hands quickly following the motion.
“Ah, fuck baby. You’re so fuckin’ sexy m’love,” Harry groaned against her lips. They were breathing in each other's air, hips thrusting against the other and hands grasping at fabric and anywhere they could grab. Harry lowered his hand to cup her hot pussy over her shorts, rubbing his palms against her clothed clit.
“Mmf, please Harry please!” She wanted him so badly, she was this close to ripping his clothes off at the seams.
“What d’you want baby girl? Hmm? Ask me nicely ‘nd maybe I’ll give it to you.”
The air shifted between them. She knew he would give her whatever she wanted, but the power was now in his corner. She whined loudly and bucked her hips up as he teased the waistband of her shorts.
“Don’t be a brat, petal. You won’t like the outcome.” Harry grinned up at her, running his thumb over her bottom lip that had stuck out with a pout. “Why don’t we run upstairs so I can fuck you properly. Tha’ is unless you want to stay down here with a sore bum ‘nd nothin’ else? Hmm, petal?”
“Harry, I swear if you don’t do something I’m going to screa- ah!” Harry’s hand came down on her ass with a loud smack!
(Y/n)’s eyes widened as she scrambled off of his lap and up the stairs to their “guest” bedroom, Harry not far behind. Harry giggled at her antics. Of course he wasn’t planning on leaving her needy and wanting, but she was being bratty and he couldn’t have that now could he?
(Y/n) all but threw herself onto their bed and ripped off her clothing, absolutely desperate for whatever Harry threw her way. She’d ride his thigh if that’s all he’d give her. She was that needy right now.
She scrambled up the bed and sat down with her legs crossed, patiently waiting as Harry stood at the foot of the bed.
“I think 10 swats on your bum are an appropriate punishment for you steppin’ out of line. Don’t you think, baby?”
“Yes, sir.” (Y/n) watched as he walked around the side of the bed. He reached into the bedside table and pulled out a bottle of shea butter lotion and the pretty pink ribbon she was all too familiar with.
“Lay down on your tummy, petal,” Harry said, setting everything on the table.
(Y/n) quickly laid down, grabbing her pillow and nestling her cheek into it. Harry grabbed one of the extra pillows and shoved it under her hips. He then pulled off the t-shirt and shrugged off his sweats, leaving him in a pair of heather gray briefs that left nothing to the imagination.
“You’ve such a pretty bum, sweetheart. ‘M so excited to see it marked up with my hand marks,” Harry caressed and massaged her cheeks carefully. “Count aloud for me, lovie.”
(Y/n) was about to answer when Harry’s hand came down on her left cheek, hard. “One!” She squeaked out.
“D’you know why you’re bein’ punished, lovie?” Smack!
“Ah! Two! Yes sir! I was being bad earlier. I was being naughty and begging without saying please!”
Harry rubbed over the sore area. “Very good, baby. Are you going to do it again?” Smack! Smack! Smack! Three spanks came in succession.
“Three! Fou-, Four! Five! No, Sir! I won’t!” She squirmed and hid her face in the pillow as her grip tightened on the material. She was a bit embarrassed at the fact that she was already getting teary eyed, but it had been a second since she'd been punished like this.
Harry paused and moved her hair out from around her face. “How are you doin’ (Y/n)? Gimme a color, please.”
“Green, Harry. I’m good, please keep going.” She wiggled and lifted her ass up towards Harry's other hand.
“Okay, lovie. Just makin’ sure.” Harry quickly kissed her cheek then pushed her head back into the pillow. She moaned loudly at the forcefulness.
The rest of the spanks came and went, leaving both of them breathless and stinging. Harry reached up and grabbed (Y/n) by the hair to pull her on all fours, his other hand removing the pillow from under her hips before running his fingers over her pussy.
“Y’not gonna do tha’ again, are you, petal?” He said smugly.
“No sir,” She hiccupped.
A jolt ran through her as he gathered her wetness and began circling her clit with two fingers.
“So sensitive, petal. Bet you almost came jus’ from me spankin’ you. Maybe you don’ need my cock after all? Maybe I should jus’ take care of myself and leave you here, what d’you think, petal? ”
She let out a pitiful moan. (Y/n)’s whole body was shaking; she was desperately trying not to come, her arms were shaking from holding herself up, and her breath was shaking from the stimulation of it all. She was almost there, almost ready to come when Harry suddenly let go of her hair and stopping playing with her pussy. Her arms gave out under her as she whined desperately at the loss of stimulation.
“Please! No, don’t leave me!” She sobbed. “I need it! Please give me your cock sir! I’ll be so good, I won’t come without askin’ please! Ple-”
“Okay, shh baby. Shh, ‘m gonna make y’feel so good. Y’such a good girl f’me.”
Harry leaned down and kissed up her spine gently. As he reached the base of her neck he grabbed the pink ribbon and ran it teasingly over her shoulders. “Color?”
She sniffled a bit before answering confidently, “Green, sir.”
“Tha’s my girl.” He pulled her up so she was kneeling and grabbed her arms, skillfully tying a cute little bow around her wrists. She wiggled a bit to make sure it was comfortable. Once she was settled, Harry pushed her back down into the pillow.
“What a sight. Must’ve been savin’ this for a rainy day, huh petal?”
She snorted at his joke but was quickly silenced by his finger sinking into her pussy. She hissed at the sensation, already a bit sensitive from the first orgasm he denied her.
“Y’always so warm for me, lovie. So warm ‘n tight. Can’t wait for my cock, can you?”
She whined and pushed back on his fingers as he added another, thrusting in and curling to find her g-spot. “Please! I’ve been so good, I’m ready!”
He chuckled at her begging, letting his thumb pet over her clit again before pulling his fingers out of her after one final thrust. “Y’think you’re ready, baby girl? I know I am.”
“Mhmm,” she nodded. “I’m ready, I promise.”
Harry used the wetness he had gathered from fingering her and stroked himself a few times, exhaling heavily as some pressure was finally released. He grabbed the ribbon where her wrists were tied and lined himself up, pushing gently into her soaked cunt.
They both released a guttural moan as he moved in her; her walls tightening around him and his length rubbing inside her perfectly.
As she felt him bottom out she let out a sob that was stuck in her chest. “Fu-ck. Thank you! You feel so fuck-fucking good!” He growled in response, reaching around and playing with her clit again while he waited for her to get accustomed to his size. She choked out another moan and squirmed, crying “Please! You can move now, please fuck me!”
He pulled out until only the head of his cock remained in her cunt, and then thrusted back in experimentally. Her moan spurred him on, allowing him to continue to set a slow and rough pace.
“Holy fuck, bunny. Y'feel so good,” Harry grit through his teeth. “I love this fuckin’ cunt, this ‘s all fo’ me, huh?”
She moaned and nodded as she squeezed his cock as tight as she could like a good girl. She wanted to behave, be his good girl. (Y/n) wiggled her hands at him as he continued to thrust. He got the hint and laced his fingers with hers. She let out a contented sigh that melted into a moan as his thrusting sped up. He loosened one of his hands from her grasp to reach down and stroke her button of nerves.
She wailed in response, tears brimming in her eyes again from the overwhelming sensations attacking her. Harry was all that existed. He surrounded her, stopped playing with her bundle of nerves and reached his hand up to wrap around her neck, pulling her up to meet his kisses. All she could feel, smell, taste as he paused thrusting to slide his tongue into her mouth before slamming back into her and letting her drop back into the pillow.
“Sh-shit baby girl. I can feel y'squeezin me, you’re almost there aren’t you?” She nodded in response, unable to form words. “Hold it jus’ a bit longer, I know you can do it. Fo’ me please, petal. Wanna feel tha’ cunt come with me.”
She shuddered as she fought to hold her orgasm back. Her cunt clenched and dripped down her thighs as Harry pounded into her as quickly as he possibly could without hurting either of them.
“N-now! Come now, petal! Give it to me, baby. Come for me!”
(Y/n) came with a shout, her eyes shut as tightly as possible. Her whole body clamped down onto Harry’s cock as she came and came and came. Her orgasm pulled Harry’s out of him, milking him for everything he had. One final thrust had him filling her with his cum, both moaning at the feeling of her pussy being filled even more.
She slumped into the pillow, body feeling like pudding. Harry leaned over her as they both took a moment to catch their breaths, both spent and relaxed after their afternoon delight. Harry recovered first, gently pulling out of her cunt. She clenched around him as he left her, almost as if she was inviting him to stay.
He quickly untied her wrists, mind set on dealing with his spilled seed later. He delicately rubbed the tender area, gently kissing the indentations.
“Y’did so good for me, (Y/n), thank you baby,” he whispered to her. She looked at him with foggy eyes, the afterglow finally settling in. She hummed in acknowledgment of his praise, smiling softly at him. “I’ll be ri’ back, petal. I’ve gotta go grab stuff to clean you up.”
He ran as quickly as possible to grab water bottles and snacks from downstairs, before stopping for a wet washcloth and a change of clothes for her on the way back. He set the food and spoons on the bedside table before cracking open a water bottle for her.
“Can you sit up a mo’? I know your bum’s a bit sore.” He helped her sit up enough to drink the water he gave her. As she gulped down the water, thankful for the cool drink to sooth her heated throat, he gently wiped up the mess he made of her pussy. He ran and tossed the cloth into their ensuite sink, quickly returning to his love.
“Can I rub some shea butter on your bum and wrists? It’ll help with the soreness, lovie.”
She sleepily nodded before asking “Could you please pull my hair back? It’s sweaty and itchy now.”
He laughed at her cloudy state and grabbed one of their scrunchies off of the dresser and carefully tied up her hair. He then pumped some lotion into his hands, warmed it slightly and guided her to lay down on her tummy again so he could soothe the red marks. After a few moments, when her fogginess had cleared and they were giggling and cracking jokes as he jiggled her bum in his hands, he helped her get up and walk to the toilet so she could relieve and redress herself before heading to their bedroom with the snacks.
(Y/n) climbed into bed, mindful of her sore bum, and excitedly grabbed the remote to turn on a movie for the couple to unwind to. Harry followed closely with two pints of ice cream and spoons -Chunky Monkey for her and Karamel Sutra for himself. They giggled again and settled down under the blanket as the opening scene to Clueless started on their television.
Taking a bite of the ice cream, (Y/n) looked over at her boyfriend. “Hey Har?” He looked at her, mouth full. “Thank you for getting us ice cream even though there was a storm. And for letting me read to you. I hope you enjoyed your prize.” She winked at him with a huge grin.
Heartily laughing, he leaned over and landed a loud smooch onto her cheek. “Of course, anything for you my love.”
As she cuddled into his side, snacking on ice cream and watching this cheesy rom-com, he knew he needed to find a reason to excuse himself to the closet that evening.
my attempt at fanfiction it is smutty
(also in azriels perspective)
azriel was leaning against the ledge of the balcony at the river house, a glass of wine in his hand and his gaze far away. he stared out at the city he loved and the sidra beneath him when he heard a shuffle of feet , a small bang and a nasty curse.
“hi love,” he said into the air, putting his glass down. gwyn blushes and bites her lip, sliding underneath him so his arms are wrapped around her. he is content to just stand there as they watch the humming city. his head quieted and his swirling shadows calmed as they tended to do in her presence. az could feel the mating bond glowing between them strong but soft and sweet like an endless melody. he heard the song between their soul’s mine, it seemed to say, you are mine and I am yours.
gwyn breaks the silence asking what he’s doing out here and he tells her “it’s funny I’ve been doing this for 500 years and even now it can be overwhelming.”
she nods “every so often I feel like it would be so much easier to just go back into the library and hide from all this.” she gestures to the lit-up city in front of them.
“gwyn” he turns her head around so she’s looking at him “you know that if you wanted to go back I would fully support you. I’d miss you like crazy but I’d support you.” and she gives him a broad smile, the one that makes his heart pound and his head dizzy.
“I know but I am ready to live and I want to do it with you.” he smiles but words don’t feel like enough so instead he grabs her hand, spins her around, pulling her close to him, and kisses her. letting his actions tell her everything his words can’t and when she kisses him back his head is dizzy and he knows he could get drunk on the feeling. like he’s the question and she’s the answer, as if he had been singing the same hopeless song for 500 years and than she came and gave it life. gwyn let out a soft gasp and with that single sound, he knows he could come undone.
they break apart for a second and she looks at him in a way that only she, ever has, with her hands around his neck, face rosy with a healthy flush “I love you az.” his heart strains and he understands now, that this is love, this is real, and he had never been in love before. not in a way that mattered. azriel knows they should stay but can’t find it in himself to waste this moment so he wraps them in his shadows and winnows them to his secret apartment, the one that not even rhys knows about. he turns them and pushes her against the wall with a scarred hand pressed against the stone and the other stroking her jaw. he moves it up and with the barest whisper of a touch, traces the constellations in her freckles. getting lost in the intensity of her teal eyes and the feeling of her skin he forgets to respond so she tilts her head expectantly.
he laughs, the sound deep and real “I love you too.” gwyn raises her eyebrows as if to say go on and azriel can’t believe he ever felt a fraction of what he felt for her, for anyone else “I love the way your nose scrunches when you get excited. I love your smile and the way you light up every room you walk into. I love that you’re a competitive asshole.” she looks at him with mock hurt and he brushes a hair from her face. “I love the face you make when I catch you reading smut and you pretend you aren’t. I love how brave you are.” his voice turns huskier and drenched with arousal. “I love how you taste.” he licks his lips. grazing her ear with his teeth “I love the way you moan when I’m inside you.” gwyn lets out a whimper. az smirks “yeah just like that.”
“Are you sure we should’ve left?” gwyn asks halfheartedly, her eyes avoiding him. he grips her chin softly but firmly to make her look at him. he brushes a finger over the curve of her mouth and she brings her tongue out to meet it. the sight makes his cock strain against the confines of his pants. he can smell the change in her scent, the sweetness of her arrousal and his pants tighten further.
his eyebrows raise full of amusement and lust, “oh yeah this is much more important.”
she bites her lip “mmm”
“now will you let me go back to listing all of the reasons I love you,” he says as he trails kisses from her jaw going lower and lower. he lifts her shirt to reveal her chest.
“we might be here a-ohh” she moans not getting a chance to finish her sentence as az traces her nipple with his tongue. gwyn began to squirm but az held her arms tight above her head keeping her pinned as he sucked her tit while squeezing the other, feeling them go hard. he sucked and sucked, never wanting to stop hearing the sound of gwyn moaning, of her beneath him. she manages to get a hand free and immediately it goes to her slit but az bats it away. he lets out a low snarl, looks her in the eye and shakes his head.
“az” she pleads
“someone’s greedy today” he hums, still sucking. finally, he lifts his head only to capture her mouth in a possessive kiss as he carries them to their bed. he lays her down, gets on his knees, and purrs “I am going to worship you like never before”
“you better get to it then” gwyn tries to smirk but instead it comes out breathy. az chuckles as he trails his fingers up and down her thigh, every time getting closer and closer to her slit. finally, he moves his hand up and traces it as lightly as possible, emitting a shutter from gwyn. he starts to stroke her, avoiding her clit, wanting to enjoy gwyn’s reaction before tasting her because he knows once he starts he may never be able to stop. all at once az brings his head toward her and licks that one spot while simultaneously slipping a finger inside her. his tongue making deliciously slow circles while his hand pumps to the same rhythm. slowly but surely he begins to build up speed and pressure, going faster and faster, in and out and in and out. gwyns breath quickens and one hand grips the sheets while the other runs through his raven black hair, pushing him into her, desperately trying to get more friction. he happily obliged and then with a final push she jumped over the edge and climaxed, cumming on his expert tongue. he continued to flick and pump her past completion. her body squirming on the bed, her back arching in pleasure.
finally, he stood up with an expression only an arrogant cocky male could make “satisfied” the question was laced with a challenge he knew gwyn could never ignore. he unbuckled his pants ready to take control but instead, gwyn stood up with newfound energy. her stealth and speed could rival the spymaster in front of her.
she slipped in front of him enjoying the shock on her mates face. in his eyes, she read the question and with a devilish smirk, she responded “I guess you taught me well” and she pushed him down on the bed. he fell back with ease, az would swear that everything about this amazing female made him go weak in the knees. just one look, just one sniff of her amazing scent, just one taste and he could crumble. gwyn looked at his shadows pointedly as if she was speaking to them. his confusion must have shown because her smirk only broadened. suddenly he felt his hands being whipped back towards the headboard. he turned to look and it had seemed his shadows had pinned his hands, leaving him at her mercy. he felt his cock stiffen. holy shit he thought, the fantasy suddenly a reality. she walked to a dresser to the side of the bed, swinging her hips in the way she knew made him crazy. his eyes tracked her every movement as he licked his lips. she opened the doors and pulled out two colorful bands that seemed to shimmer in the moonlight. one blue, the color of his siphons, the other a vibrant teal, the color of her eyes. ribbons he realized with no small amount of delight, they were ribbons. his shadows released his right hand only for gwyn to replace their grip. she took it into her own and kissed the scars, as though to remind him he was no longer alone. gwyn then took the cobalt blue ribbon and tied his hand to the post. instead of going around, she straddled his waist to get to the other side of the bed. his breathing hitched.
az licked his lips, his throat going dry. “oh the things I would do to you if my arms weren’t pinned”
gwyn hopped off his lap as quickly as she hopped on going to his other arm. “like” she teased back.
“well I would fuck you until you couldn’t walk straight,” he said simply.
gwyn felt the increasing wetness begin to drip down her thighs but she refused to give him the satisfaction of a reaction, “that is a very enticing offer, one that I will happily reclaim later but” she drawled
“but” he repeated.
she waited a moment, basking in the anticipation, then she trailed her arm down his toned body brushing it against his cock. she felt it twitch and heard az groan, gwyn grinned sweetly
“but today we play by my rules”
az felt it twitch again, the competitive asshole in him prayed she hadn’t seen but of course she noticed and her smirk was nothing short of feral. this, of course, did not help his raging hard-on and only managed to make him somehow want her more. now on the other side of the bed gwyn took his left hand and repeated the same steps she had taken on his right. kissing his hands and then tying it to the post with the teal ribbon. gwyn looked over him with a satisfied glance, “my ribbon” she teased in a sultry voice. she moved to the end of the bed, her body emitting a slight glow while azriel's shadows arranged themselves atop gwyn’s head to form a crown of shadows. she looked like a goddess, his goddess. gwyn ran her hand up and down the front of his pants, slowly undoing and pulling them off. she bent down and looked up at her mate, and said “try to last will you” azriel barely heard her as all he could think about was his throbbing cock and the female tormenting him. he tried to come up with a witty retort but then gwyn leaned in, took her tongue, and licked up the startling length of him, circling the head, shocking him from his thoughts. she teased and teased always going just a tad too light and slow. az tried to lift his hips but found he couldn’t. gwyn must have spelled the ribbons. his head was proud but his cock was pissed. gwyn smirked as if she knew what he was thinking. azriel let out a deep groan. the sound snapped her self-control and she took him into her mouth while using her hand to stroke the shaft. she bobbed her head up and down. az bucked knowing he couldn’t last much longer, one more stroke, one more lick and he knew it would have been over but instead, gwyn hopped off him, just stopping. he let out a complaint but it was muffled by gwyn seizing his lips with her own. the kiss was sweet but deadly and took azriel’s breath in a way he never knew was possible. gwyn lifted her head, grazing her teeth along his ear while her hand found its way to his dick. she stroked once as she whispered “cum for me”. with those dirty words from the cruel mouth of the female he loved more than life itself azriel exploded. released hit him like an avalanche, pleasure unlike any he’s ever known. he groaned her name and couldn’t remember his own. gwyn winked and said “I win” the magic holding him back broke and he smiled and flipped gwyn over holding her gaze.
her breath hitched and he smirked “not just yet.” gwyn laughed, her smile shining as he looked into his mates eyes, her hands around his neck. he lined himself up with her and slowly pushed in, letting her adjust to his length and girth. she bit her lip but a little moan still managed to escape.
“az” she groaned. he began to move inside her, forgetting where she ended and he began. he moved at a leisurely pace as if they had all the time in the world. gwyn wrapped her legs around his waist and flipped them over putting her on top.
“dominate little creature” he purred. she rode him fast with his hips lifting to meet hers, the mating bond a living breathing thing between them. it was a never-ending song between their souls, glowing. his shadows swirled around them, entangling themselves in gwyn’s hair and up and down her arms and legs as if they were home. as she rode him, she took his hands into hers and brought them up to her chest.
she looked him in the eye and said the words he had been waiting for 500 years to hear
“you’re mine”
together they came in ecstasy. pleasure racing through their conjoined bodies leaving them nothing short of fulfilled. azriel gripped her waist while gwyn arched into his touch. each other’s names, the only words they knew. both of them drunk on happiness.
gwyn jumped off az and fell back onto the enormous bed. they turned to look at each other. az ran his fingers through her soft flaming hair, twirling it between his fingers as though he was content to do so all day. he leaned with his lips hovering above hers and whispered “you’re mine too.”
summary: JASPER/ BELLA. set in eclipse (but is so far from canon honestly all you need to know is that victoria is after bella). When Jasper snatches Bella away to Texas to escape a vampire’s hunt for the girl who killed her lover, Bella comes clean about her hearts unfaithfulness on an unsettling summer morning, in front of God and everybody.
fic type: oneshot, no explicit scenes
warnings: religious guilt, Bella’s weird brand of horny, cheating on Edward, oh and Alice just doesn’t exist— don’t think about it too hard
There was this openness in the air, something stirring from the west, saturating the cotton fields. A yellow eyed barn cat stood still in the morning light, it’s black coat shifting with the bite of ghostly mice. Whiskers twitching.
It was watching her, she was sure of it, like the pecan trees and the paddock mud and the mosquitoes. All beady-eyed and searching the brown haired girl, the one with crooked ankles and misaligned bangs that just barely kissed her cheeks in the late summer sun. She looked home grown. Wheat wild. A child of desert planes. And most importantly, she looked lost.
“I thought you’d still be sleeping by now.” A hushed baritone slipped from the screen door, it’s owner donned in dark royal denim and loose leather.
If it had been just months before, Bella would’ve rolled her eyes.
But she was different now. As different as Washington was to Texas. As different as evergreens were to red oak. She swore even the sweat didn’t smell right.
“Wanted to catch the sunrise.” There was a softness to her front teeth, the round of her molars quiet against one another. To whose ears she was catering to she didn’t know. And to be honest, she didn’t quite care anymore.
Bella made out a lazy nod from her peripheral, the shaggy haired man seemingly relaxed out here on the front porch of her judgement day, all tan and tall and scented like rolled tobacco.
Shut up, stupid girl.
Jasper murmured out a response, something about humans needing sleep and southern sunrises being worthy enough to diminish the former from its place on his immortal pedestal. There was a creak and a groan from the haint green floorboards underneath her before she found herself shoulder to shoulder with the two hundred year old soldier; a stray wind had blown through the shaved baby blond hair lining his chin in the slightest of ways. There was a caution light screaming out from his stature and the brunette girl had the painful urge to swallow it under her teeth and tongue. Soak it in holy water and hide it in her skin for him to find. Or rather, Him, if this stay was going to end like she thought it ought to.
He couldn’t feel that… could he? Stupid, stupid—
“The marigolds should be blooming about now, just west of the barn. They’re quite a bit prettier than Peter’s fields.” There was something off in the lit of his tongue, the way it flipped and rolled off his teeth. It came out… wrong. Forced. Like he was trying to be overtly kind. The way you talk to a frightened rabbit you clipped with the lawn mower.
Bella frowned something deep and turned nose at Jasper. “Why did you bring me here, Hale?”
With the question came a wince to his brow, a noticeable blow to his stature. He seemed to fold ever so slightly towards the young girl.
“Don’t— don’t call me that.”
Silence filled the unwalled prison of the porch like nothing else, the birds and wind seemingly gone to rest whenever the two entered into each other's space. Like worldly magnets, chess pieces that threw blows instead of diagonals. The quiet held them both. It held them together.
Bella Swan blinked slowly in an unknown apology before settling back on the blond with the stone facade. She waited for him to continue.
He sighed. “It’s safer here. Victoria wouldn’t come this far south without encountering things far worse than the likes of Emmett or Rose.”
“But this wasn’t Edward’s plan, was it?” Bella’s lashes were like rodeo announcers with their back and forth turns to the outlook of western Texas.
Jasper looked every bit of his one hundred fifty years as he laid a freezing hand on hers, their knuckles slotting together with unpracticed ease. “No. But it’s mine. And you’re gonna have to accept that.”
She refused to nod at the man with the thigh clenching, hard work mending, touch, for more than a second. She was far from the type of girl that would lay down and let the boys run out their wildest stupidities on her seemingly catastrophic life, but she felt almost resigned in Jasper's hands. There was a calmness between them she couldn’t place as artificial or not, the soft wool of contentedness slowly covering the surveyor-ship she felt stepping outside this morning. The stares of the flora and fauna turned internal. Fire burned in the pit of her stomach, on the nape of her neck, across the fragile skin of her cheeks where freckles started to show, and mostly, on the warming flesh of her hand where their hands met gently.
Maybe it was Edward looking onto them from a frozen forest hundreds of miles from here as he hunted a scarlet monster, discovering the hidden plumpness swirling around in his lover's chest for the brother he always worried about, but for all the wrong reasons.
Or maybe…
“Jasper, can I ask you something?”
His eyes were like serpents, glowing yellow under the copper wind chimes above them.
“Whatever you wish, Isabella.”
Swallow. Breathe. “When you were human… did you believe in God?”
A pause sliced the air in two. The cotton plants seemed to stop swaying. The feline vanished. A golden eyebrow fell to his browbone.
“Yes, Isabella. Yes I did.” His face was drawn, distant, like an old time movie screen was playing out on his stone eyelids.
Bella’s lips pulled at themselves with her front teeth. “Do you think He’s vengeful?”
Their eye contact sealed itself, his hand moving on its own accord up her hand to her wrist, cradling the small, delicate bones that allowed her to touch him— but not now. Not ever again.
“When I was a boy, my mama took me to church every Sunday at seven A.M sharp, and sent me to Sunday school after the service. I was the oldest, even then, and I had more responsibilities than just listening to the preacher ramble on about divinity and charity and sacrifice.”
Jasper's face was taught with memory.
“I had two baby sisters by the time I turned seven and they were the number one priority, you have to understand, Isabella. Ada and Caroline couldn’t have been older than three when the Leroy boy died sitting in the pew behind us… poor child got heatstroke in his wool britches and after that I started dressing the girls in the lightest things I could find and never waited long after the sermon to get back.”
Bella turned stormy under the weight of the seemingly young man's words, her eyes dropping from his own to study the way his fingers wrapped around her skin like a life jacket, one part caregiver and one part destroyer. Jasper's own hands seemed to start to tremor just slightly under her stare, or maybe it was from the wash of his own words.
He took a breath he didn’t need. “But. I started listening when my mother got sick, before the girls finished schooling. Started praying. A part of me was guilty that I hadn’t started before I needed something, that the reason I spoke to Him was for a favor, and a big one at that. I was making up for lost time, I thought. I was begging on my knees for anything. And I didn’t get it.
“They buried an empty coffin with my name on it under a white wooden cross after the army said I went missing. Caroline would plant violets around it in the spring, weed out the planters and start again in the fall. She’d leave me communion wafers in our family pew and have Ada try to talk with me through the minister.”
“I’m so sorry.” A true sadness settled in her bones, her seemingly selfish desire to have the question answered sat like a heavy stone in the out of her stomach. Her heart held out a warm woolen space for him and she silently begged he would sit in it, for his own sake.
He waved her off and took on a slight smile, something she had never seen from Jasper. Not in any capacity before that very moment.
She decided she would try to see it every chance she got for as long as he’d let her.
“I wasn’t a man of religious structure, Isabella, but. I was a man of faith. The small times I was allowed to watch over my sisters only reminded me of that, no matter how far down to hell I had reached, I still had faith in redemption.”
His teeth clicked together not unpleasantly. “But I haven’t answered your question have I?” There was a knowing-ness in his voice box and Bella wanted to drink it down like communion wine. She smiled back slightly.
He was beautiful when he sighed.
“I’ve done horrible things. Killed innocent people. Slaughtered children and mothers and lambs of God. I have worn blood on my hands like a second skin and not once during any of it did I feel remorse. But darlin,” his lashes fluttered like leaves, “not once did I think God wanted me to hate myself for what I had done. I think… He forgave me a long time ago, before I ever forgave myself. So no. I don’t believe in my brother’s vengeful punisher. Not today. Not in this lifetime.“ She’d never hear the ‘not with you’ fragment he had stuck in his mind.
She had to step back from him then, the vampire who had become all consuming to her chest and her heart and her fingers. The air was warmer in the space behind him but it almost didn’t matter, the warmth layering her skin was enough to burn through an air conditioning unit anyway. Bella’s hands found clumsy solace in her back pockets as she stared ahead at the rows of painful cotton buds waiting to be harvested. The blood almost pulled to her fingertips.
Teeth and lips found each other. “I don’t think I’m not going to get punished for this.”
Her words were concrete. Cement. Blacktop on a Kansas back road. They could’ve cut glass if she wanted them to. They almost did as he looked at her.
“For what, Isabella?”
Knowing bastard. Always. Knowing.
No trembling allowed now.
“For wanting you when Edwards away. When he’s in the same room as us. When he’s hunting the woman who's trying to kill me and you’re just standing there telling me not to be afraid of my own horrible heart… for betraying everything I’ve begged for since me and your brother met. I deserve to get punished for this, don’t I? Don’t you think?”
She was sweating now, cold droplets running down her back to her the soft slope of her ass. Her knuckles were popping against each other like fireworks and she thought she might faint right then and there, MONSTER written across her forehead in a bruise from the impact.
A scarred hand felt itself into its place under Bella’s chin and forced her rocking skull to finally glimpse the face she had been thinking of every moment she pulled her eyes away. Jasper Hal— Whitlock? And his clear midnight pupils branding her soul in a sinner’s blush. His lips formed a wonderful crook as he slowly pushed her flat against the ancient siding of the old farmhouse belonging to his long standing brother who looked like everything Jasper was except for his spirit.
She could die this way and she would face God with a smile.
“What I feel for you deserves no punishment darlin, but if you insist, I think I’d rather do the punishing than any divine power.”
His lips were light rosy steel against Bella’s own as the clouds started to stretch out infinitely behind his back, unnoticed by the interlocked couple in their wake. A soft moan escaped as felt the soft chill of a crucifix digging into her neck.
Maybe God would forgive her for this. Just once.
