Judy Garland (Meet Me In St. Louis, A Star is Born, Summer Stock)— Judy is the GOAT when it comes to classic movie musicals. The voice of an angel who deserved so much better than she got. She can sing she can dance she can act she's a triple threat. Though she had a turbulent personal life (her treatment as a child star by the studio system makes me mad as hell like Louis b Mayer fight me ((she was made to believe that she was physically unattractive by the constant criticism of film executives who made her feel ugly and who manipulated her onscreen appearance by capping her teeth and using discs in her nose to change its shape and Mayer called her "my little hunchback" like imagine hearing that as a child and not having damage)) she always goddamn delivered on screen and in any performance she gave. She began in vaudeville performing with her sisters and was signed to MGM at 13. Starting out in supporting parts especially paired with mickey Rooney in a bunch of films (she's the best part tbh) she eventually transferred to the lead role. She is best known for her starring role in movie musicals like the iconic Wizard of Oz (somewhere over the rainbow still hits hard and is ranked the top film song of all time), meet me in St. Louis (Judy singing have your self a merry little Christmas brings tears to the eyes she is that powerful), the Harvey girls (she looks like a technicolor dream and sings a catchy af song about trains), Easter parade ( dancing and singing with Fred Astaire), for me and my gal, the pirate, and summer stock ( with pal Gene Kelly who she helped when he was starting out and he helped her when she was struggling). But she also does non- singing just as well like the clock ( her first movie where she sings no songs and is an underrated ww2 era romance), her Oscar nominated a star is born ( like the man that got away she put her whole soul in that and I have beef with the fact she lost to grace kelly ((whom I love but like still not even her best work)), and judgement at Nuremberg (a courtroom drama about the nazi war criminal trials). Outside of film she made concert appearances to record-breaking audiences, released 8 studio albums, and had her own Emmy-nominated tv series. She was the youngest (39) and first female recipient of the Cecil B DeMille award for lifetime achievement in the film industry. Girl was a lifelong democrat and was a financial and moral supporter of many causes including the civil rights movement (she was at the March on Washington and held a press conference to protest the 16th street Baptist church bombings). She was a friend of the Kennedy family and would call jfk weekly often ending the calls by singing the first few lines of somewhere over the rainbow (she thought of them as Gemini twins). She was a member of the committee for the first amendment which was formed in response to the HUAC investigations. Though she died far too young and tragically she remains an icon for her work and her life. As a girl who didn't feel like i was as pretty as everyone else I have always felt a connection to Judy and I just really love her.
Natalie Wood (West Side Story, The Great Race)—She went through so much shit which I know can be said for all these women but Natalie really was a star and her death often overshadows her career and life. She could make you cry, but she also had the capacity to be incredibly funny which I think is lost on people.
This is round 4 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Natalie Wood:
Judy Garland:
Judy's voice alone qualifies her for at least top ten hottest HOT VINTAGE MOVIE WOMEN. She was a truly incredible swing singer, with a stunning voice on top of her technique. Her short dark hair looked incredible in just about any style. Have I mentioned her swagger? I can’t do it justice with words. She had swagger. She was funny as hell, and clever too. Incredibly charming and cool. I adore her.
Her eyes, her voice have bewitched me
I mean how can you beat the one and only Judy? She's beautiful, her smile is contagious, the way she sings with her whole body. You can't help but love her.
youtube
Beautiful woman, love her singing voice. And she can do everything between happy or silly and angry or heartbroken

Re-watching Star Plus Mahabharat (1/?)
DISCLAIMER: Whatever I say in this is about the CHARACTERS as per the way this SHOW showed them. The show=/= The Ved Vyasa Mahabharata. Don't want any more controversies, lmao. IF I mention any canon event, I will state IT. So pls, DNI if you can't handle a joke/criticism.
Starting with a shankh naad and the iconic promo woohooo
show start karte hi Arjun ke darshan ho gaye. WAAH. No but really. The face card is insane.
Why are their mukuts dangling tho o_O
Me thinking why is Satyavati shown as a main character since she is js there for the 1st quarter of the story, but then I realized that the entire reason all of this happens is because she was so manipulative during the Princess of Kashi portion, lol.
Krishna posing to give me a jaadu ki jhappi ToT
Okay, we are greeted by some classical music. I feel so peaceful.
ANDDD now that I have seen Shatanu and Satyavati, my mood is ruined.
Why are they having an affair tho
Shantanu not liking being a king and complaining. Funny how his descendants are going to have a blown war to GET this burden, LOL. #richpeopleproblems
ANDDD now we are going to be shown how ambition is bad.
Arre, why let poor Satya get all the blame? Where is her Daddy?
Satyavati: im greedy af, Shantanu: wanna be yours *puppy eyes*
Ladki ka chakkar, babu bhaiya, ladki ka chakkar
Krishna being happy in his lil garden uwu
Bhishma arriving with his superman style entry XDD
There was no need to put his feet in that kichad tho
Hastinapur ki praja being tortured by Bhima's future in-laws while Shantanu is busy doing aashiqui haha
Satyavati being rightfully shocked tbh
Ok but I thought Maharani, aka Queen, is a person who a) inherits the throne and rules in her own right, aka Queen REGNANT, or b) marries a King, aka Queen Consort??? What does that have to do with whether your son sits on the throne or not o_O
Not all of them assuming that they will have sons, what if you had daughters, Satyavati
OK BUT SOMEONE PLS WRITE AN AU WHERE SATYAVATI GIVES BIRTH ONLY TO GIRLS, I WANNA KNOW THE CHAOS THAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT PLS
Bhishma willingly signing on a slavery contract LOL
Ok but Im genuinely curious. How will Satyavati be a good queen tho? She is prolly not as well educated as princesses are, neither is she trained to be queen...
Bhishma: Make Vichitraveerya Great Again (except he was never gr8 to start with, lol)
I see, even Drupad's Father/Grandfather is fiery af. Runs in the blood, eh?
Okay but wait a sec. The Panchal King is right tho. Bhishma cannot interfere in the matters of their state, even if HIS prince is the one to do all the shit. He is a criminal, and he cannot violate the rules of other kingdoms!
Srsly, Bhishma time and again, in both canon and the show, gets his will done by the other Kingdoms, who do not oppose even if it's wrong because they know that they will be killed. Is he an unknown bully, by that standard?
Unnamed Panchal King, you are my fav from now on
Ok so, this is Prishata. Okay okay. Noice.
Vichitraveerya being cocky af. There are some things that Bhishma can't protect you from, like TB.
EW VICHITRAVEERYA SPAT ON HIM
bro clearly lacks etiquette and manners.
I'm sorry but Vichitraveerya really needs the belt treatment
Bhishma comparing Vichitraveerya to Hanuman o_O
Okay but PANCHAL cannot punish Vichitraveerya for committing crime on their land, but BHISHMA can abduct princesses from Kashi without their permission? Hypocrite much, eh?
Not Bhishma using his warrior skills so that the other kingdoms follow Hastinapur's bidding o_o
this is unfair af
poor Panchal tho, why are they being mistreated so much like can't even punish a criminal who burnt their fields
OH WOW, So not only has Bhishma entered Panchal to stop the justice system from carrying out justice, he also brought an entire army with him?!
I bet all my life savings that Shikhandi is Prishata's fav grandkid, lol
Amba doing the same crime that Vichitraveerya did XDDDD
NGL, but Amba's makeup is on point.
What is Shalva doing with Arjun's earrings and Dury's mukut
Vichitraveerya is so incompetent, GOD
Hm, Bhishma, I'm sure 99% royals drink, both male and female. Surely they must not be drunkards like your bro, tho.
um....Kuru and Panchal are enemies? Since when tho?
OH MAYBE ALL THE KURU PRINCES GO AND COMMIT CRIMES IN PANCHAL AND ESCAPE WITHOUT PUNISHMENT HMMMM
Krishna giving pottery class lmfao
Satyavati is that mom who thinks that her bahu will fix her son.
Bhishma going to interrupt a swayamavara and take the decision to marry on their own from 3 girls, LOL. How tf is this dharma?
At least in the show, Bhishma is against this. In canon, he js justified his actions saying that this form of marriage (aka rakshasa vivaha) is upheld by saints o_O
Bhishma, I like you, but why do you so much questionable stuff in the first half of MB

jo for the ask thing is no ones asked for her yet
Sexuality: Lesbian
Gender: I think she’s like masc-presenting fem-aligned non-binary (she/they) but just loosely calls herself a girl because she doesn’t like explaining her gender
Ship: Jomaria return from the war. Also I could see her having some complicated feelings for Heather and Courtney in All Stars
BROTP: Her and Brick aren’t friends in the traditional sense but they really get each other in a way no one else around them does. Also her and Cam, her and Zoey, and her and Mike are all fun duos to me. I’m just a big fan of the Maggots being friends tbh
NOTP: Her and Scott as well as her and Lightning just don’t work as couples to me. I could see them as alliances or even friends but I don’t like them as couples
Random headcanon: She loves big dogs and grew up training them. Their favorites are Dobermans but they also like German Shepards, Pitbulls, and Rottweilers
General opinion: Their dynamics with other characters and their one-liners are iconic, and she was a pretty strong antagonist as well. Her relationship with Brick was one of the highlights of ROTI tbh, and the unexplored issues with her gender presentation and might makes right attitude make her really intriguing. Alas td is bad and therefore the writers never took this seriously and she never really changed in any way or developed any lasting relationships but yk she had some moments

27-29. The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin (4.5/5 average)
Earth magic + racism + the world is ending + colonial power is the root of all evil = everybody having a bad time forever (but in a good way). The Fifth Season slapped so severely that I was let down a little by its two follow ups.
30. The Spirit Bares its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White (4.5/5)
Violent and unflinching look at how they treated women, queer people and the mentally ill in the victorian era. I am so so so brave for sitting though all the medical descriptions are you proud of me

How cults will use language to trap you and keep you in their greasy little hands. Also why you should never ever join an MLM
34. Saltblood by Francesca De Tores (4.25/5)
Was famous pirate Mary Read a Non-binary icon? We literally have no way of knowing but its a nice thought I guess
35. On Earth We're Breifly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (3.75/5)
A long and emotional letter from a traumatised son to his traumatised mother. Unfortunately i am nauuuurt a literary fiction girlie and I could feel it

Musings of a lesbian daughter on the suicide of her closeted gay father. More academic than I expected but still real good

Eight Comics to Sooth a Savage Soul
From Primordial Warriors and Jungle Heroes to Woodland Wildmen and Mutant Berserkers, here are eight comics appeasing our animalistic, hunter/predator-fight or flight-lizard brains. Reminders that man is just an animal trapped in his own zoo
Lord of the Jungle (2022)
A compelling tale starring the og jungle hero, Tarzan! I picked this up on a whim and it became one of my most anticipated reads each month. The writing pulled me through each page as effortlessly as the gorgeous art swings Tarzan from tree to tree
Ka-Zar Lord Of The Savage Land (2021)
Ka-Zar is essentially Marvel’s answer to Tarzan. With animal based powers and a family to protect against the invasive technological metaphor for deforestation, fracking and industrial pollution, this is a really cool and gorgeous miniseries
All Against All (2022)
Pushing “Tarzan” even further into the realm of sci-fi than “Ka-Zar”, this story centers parental trauma around an alien war mining Earth’s creatures for biological weaponry. Ultra violent with hyper intense art enhancing the vibes
Sheena Queen of the Jungle: Fatal Exams (2023)
Sheena is back and is now attending prep school? I’m gonna be honest, not having read any previous “Sheena”, I’m not really sure why she’s there or how old she’s supposed to be, but the school drama is fun between her ecoterrorism!
Bloodrik (2023)
A hyborian hunter looking to eat! This is a 3 issue mini, with the finale issue set to drop next month. Minimalist storytelling sets the stage for phenomenal art with heavy metal overtones, while it’s unique page layouts are giving CLAMP on T
Kroma (2022)
This comic is very different from the others on this list, playing a sort of twist on the Giver crossed with elements of the Wickerman. An absolutely stunning story about propaganda, religious indoctrination, and a sacrificial scapegoat ready to bring it all down
Shirtless Bear-Fighter! (2017)
Are you ready to punch some bears!? Shirtless dedicated his life to protecting the forest, until something happened that turned him onto the war against bearrorism! A really cute comedy with a surprising amount of depth. Raunchy but fairly tame tbh
Wolverine (2020)
Of course I’m adding the most iconic wild man of our time to the list! The current run is a great place to start, especially when paired with X-Force (2020), but any entry in his bibliography is gonna be a wild, messy ride from start to finish.
Thanks for reading my list! Hopefully one of them peaked your interest enough to check out. Here are a few savagely honorable mentions that’re also definitely worth looking into:
Animal Man, Berserk, Conan the Barbarian, Red Sonja, Sabretooth, Swamp Thing
What are some of y’all favorite wild man comics?

hemlines throughout history
umm pls keep in mind i’m doing this off of memory (bc when i was 14 i thought i was a fashion historian LOL) and then pics ive seen paired w my very general knowledge of wtf was going on in that decade but like idk where else to talk about hemlines throughout history so here we are. this is SORT of embarrassing sorry
1910s - this is more interesting to me than the 1920s. since wwi was Happening women stepped into the factories and needed a shorter skirt so they wouldn’t trip and fucking die. but also around this era i’ve noticed that they have the cutest fucking boots that are kinda reminiscent of a go-go boot. perhaps the intent was for the boot and the shorter skirt to meet in the middle so the ankles weren’t on full display. also do you know that advertisement marilyn monroe filmed of her skirt flying up? i think the og video was filmed in this decade (not for a movie or anything (obviously) i think they were just experimenting w the camera)
1920s - flapper era! i feel like theyre often depicted wearing skirts way above the knee, but in the early 20s, the hemline would usually stop a little below the knee so that when they walked around their entire leg wouldn’t be exposed. i think the idea of their thighs being on display is bc in the mid/later half of the decade the hemlines did eventually stop above the knee (but not by much). also it was pretty iconic for women to step out in drapey fabric with drop-waist silhouettes. also i remember when i learned the difference between a flapper and a vamp i was gagged cos i wanted to be a vamp so bad (for some reason… again i was 14 lol)
1930s - the hemline dropped, but not by much. more like above the ankle/calf territory. also the fabrics clung more tightly to the body and even movie stars wore inexpensive fabrics like rayon to imitate the glamor of silk. i don’t rlly have much else to say about this decade tbh
1940s - okay this is actually really interesting. with wwii, rationing became a huge thing, and this applied to clothing too. so in the beginning of the decade, women were wearing shorter skirts that fell to their knees. then, in the latter part of the decade, the skirts got fuller since they didn’t have to worry about rationing as much and the hemlines dropped to create a more feminine silhouette
1950s - the styles in the late 40s trickled down into to early 50s, with skirts becoming longer and dropping around mid calf. this decade was all about “taking back” the femininity women “lost” during the war so that’s why it got so flouncy and reminiscent of like the victorian era
1960s - mini skirts! kinda. the styles from the 50s also trickled down into the early 60s, so it wasn’t like a change over night thing. at first the mini skirts were less mini and more just… above the knee. then later on it got more mainstream to wear mini skirts that we’re more familiar with today. my grandma told me that when she was in school the principal or something would literally fucking measure the length of their skirts and they’d get in trouble if it was too short OR too long. but also my grandma loves lying for fun so idk how true that actually is
1970s - if i’m being honest i haven’t looked into later decades as much but if i recall correctly hemlines were kinda up to you, whether u wanted more mini or maxi lengths
1980s - okay but why were they kinda giving 40s. the boxy silhouette and shoulder pads were back in style and longer skirts got more popular. but also i feel like at this point fashion wasn’t as homogenous so obviously there were different aesthetics and cores and stuff. also not saying that fashion was completely homogenous in the other decades either (like the hobble skirt in the 10s or just the experimentation of diff silhouettes and drapes in general) but the “kids/teenagers dressing like mini adults” phenomenon was long gone so i feel like this was just one genre of style that was popular. i think heathers is kinda a perfect example of this since the Heathers are more preppy but there’s also this stoner who looks grunge adjacent
1990s (i’ll stop here) - micros got so popular in the late 90s/early 2000s but shoutout to feminism bc women weren’t pressured (as much) into wearing one specific skirt length, so minis and maxis were popular. as a matter of fact my mom said that wearing biker shorts (that u could see) under ur dresses was rlly popular when she was growing up in the 90s so i think that style came back with a VENGEANCE in the 2010s
okay i’m done. pls keep in mind that this was #justforfun so my research wasn’t that in depth it’s just what i’ve picked up from looking at old pics/doing very bare minimum google searches over the years. also! saying “women wore ___” is just me generalizing no matter the decade since fashion is crazy and even though it might have been trendy at the time it still doesn’t mean every single person was wearing it. like just look at the hobble skirts, wealthier women wore them as intended whereas working women either had to adapt the trend to their lifestyle or just abandon it entirely. i know it’s not that deep but just wanted to let it be known that im not intentionally tryna spread misinformation
#long post#and also#sol’s orangutan hours#bc i would not be posting something like this if i wasn’t in my orangatan era#i wouldn’t wanna live in any of the decades obviously but i think Observing the 10s transition into the 20s would be fun#then i’d dip when october 1929 hit

Protagonist, Heroes and Superheroes: Who are my Favourites?
Hello wandering traveller! I'm back again to yap; this time about SOME of my favourite protagonists. This feels strange to me as I gravitate towards liking villains and anti-heroes more that the good guys haha.
The Hobbit:
I don't need to say anything for this one.
He's my adopted grandpa in my delulu mind. I honestly think I have a soft spot (NOT IN A ROMNTIC WAY) for him.
Honestly, for a good two years I was a Fili over Kili typa gal, but lately my brain chemistry altered and now I have a growing love for Kili. I do think he is still a bit cocky for my liking - but love is blind so I will ignore it haha.
Lord of the Rings:
This is also part of the Hobbit section as well, but Gandalf the Grey is a wee tinker isn't he? Also, Gandalf the Grey over Gandalf the White any day of the week - I think he got too serious (even though he got upgraded to the highest wizard which does make sense but still).
I don't need to say anything for this part 2.
I tried to find a memeable/funny image for Arwen, but she's just inhumanly beautiful in every picture haha. Hot take, I definitely prefer Peter Jackson's adaptation of Arwen than the original as she has more of a story rather than be mentioned a couple of times throughout the trilogy.
The Witcher:
It's Henry Cavill. What more? I think even though he is more (or tries to be) neutral as a Witcher is conditioned to be, I'm adding him on the good side. He also does a lot of heroic acts which would deem him being a sort of hero.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, he is my favourite character in the Witcher series by a long shot! If there is anything I remember from the books, it would be him talking about his drinking (blood as he is a higher vampire) problem which caused his misses to leave him and ruin his life. It is more funny when you read it for the first time as you never expected that from a vampire.
Marvel:
This one is really hard cause I like quite a lot of the characters so I might have to do a part 2 for this one.
It would be a sin if I didn't put this image in. So, Blade has been my favourite marvel character, and my favourite character in general since I was a wee one. I remember watching Blade II when I was 6 (at an age where I really shouldn't have been watching it), and it was the only thing that calmed me down after I almost chopped my thumb off. That is another story to tell - one of my lore drops.
Another character who I've loved since I was still in nappies. I thought, and still think that he is one of the coolest characters in any comic book and film adaptations.
"He's the best guy arouuuuund" "What about the people he murdered?" "What muuurrrdddeerrrr?" I'm putting him here cause I want to; Bucky started out good and ended up good in the end. I will defend this guy at all costs!
Star Wars:
TBH despite liking all of the characters in Star Wars, Princess Leia is one of the few protagonists that I really like. I do remember when I was a kid trying to copy her hair styles and outfit haha. She's an icon, she's a legend and she is the moment.
Another fashion icon (haha jks). C-3PO is my spirit animal.
Foundation:
I honestly am inspired by her to get better at math (even though I left school 5 years ago) as she is insanely skilled at mathematics. She seems like one of a few in the series that is not insane in some shape or form.
Harry Potter:
Give him to me now please. Also another character I don't need to explain why he's one of my favourites.
He's just a walking teddy bear with a heart of gold. Also, get this man a baby dragon.
That's all for today's post! What are you favourite protagonists?

hi lumi! pls don't feel pressured to answer this but i'm currently reading Phasma by delilah dawson (i'm loving it so far) and i was wondering if you would know some nice sequels' books and comics to get into (preferably the ones that delve more into the first order but anything works tbh)? I know your thing is mostly the prequels (it's more my thing too tbh) but i was wondering if you could help me or perhaps if you would know someone who could help me with it?
Hi! I actually do have a handful of sequels-centric content that I've liked! When the expanded world of SW comics and novels was first getting started, there was a lot of focus on the sequels and a lot of it was genuinely delightful and to this day I still heartily recommend them! Phasma is one of them (I loved that that book was just so joyfully batshit in exactly the way a Star Wars book should be) and my recs for other stuff you'll hopefully enjoy are:
Captain Phasma by Kelly Thompson (comic) - Gorgeous art, a solid story, and even some Feelings if you've read the Phasma novel, because it features some flashbacks from there.
Poe Dameron by Charles Soule (comic) - In addition to being one of the best SW comic runs out there, it's also a great look at Poe's character, has gorgeous art, and is just a fantastic read all the way around, I would put it at the top of my recs list.
Aftermath, Aftermath: Life Debt, Aftermath: Empire's End by Chuck Wendig (book) - I always recommend that I think this series almost MUST be in audiobook form, that I could not get into it in novel form, but the audiobooks were such a fun adventure. This does the most establishing of the galaxy after the Empire falls, it gets into several of the characters that would go on to help form the First Order. It's mostly a set of new characters (that I grew to love) and the OT characters, but I think it helps set the world a lot, so if you don't mine the lack of ST characters, it does lead into ST worldbuilding.
Bloodline by Claudia Gray (book) - Is a Leia story and is mostly about why she stops being a Senator and founds the Resistance, but it helps tell the foundation of the New Republic (along with the Aftermath trilogy) and the rising of the First Order. It's still quoted a lot for some pretty iconic Leia moments, but I think if you're looking for ST worldbuilding (as opposed to sequels characters), it's good for that, too.
Star Wars Battlefront II (game) - The story of Battlefront II is focused on the OT characters, but I like recommending it because it does a lot of great work in connecting the OT to the ST, including moments of how the First Order came to be, and has some really great Luke characterization. You can look up a "movie" version on YouTube and watch it that way!
Spark of the Resistance by Justina Ireland (book) - I hesitate to recommend this one whole-heartedly if you're not already hip-deep in SW books, because it is very referential to other SW comics/books, but I genuinely enjoyed it as connective tissue between the ST movies where it showed all the characters coming together in this fight. It was cute and charming and had some delightful moments of the main cast!
Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse (book) - Is much in the same vein as Spark of the Resistance, it does a lot of good connective work, is a charming read, and has good focus on the main ST characters!
Age of Resistance by Tom Taylor (comic) - This was a series of one-shots focused around several main characters and they're solid, fun highlights of the characters. I remember especially enjoying the Rey and Rose ones!
Star Wars Adventures by various authors (comic) - There are two volumes of this (they rebooted the title a couple of years ago) and basically any issue that has the sequels characters is a fun read. I mean, the whole entire series tends to be really great for any era, but the sequels ones are fun--including a darling one from the first volume with Poe and Rose interaction that has forever made me pine for more team-ups with those two.
Allegiance by Ethan Stacks (comic) - A mini-series set post-TLJ where they're trying to gather allies for the Resistance and has some lovely character moments, I especially remember feeling a lot for Leia in her scenes of trying to rally people to stand up against the First Order, now knowing it was her own son leading them.
Join the Resistance by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker (book) - This is a cautious rec because it's set during the time of the Resistance, but it doesn't really have a lot to do with them or even particularly strong worldbuilding, I just REALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THOSE KIDS over the course of the series.
Star Wars: Resistance (TV series) - This show isn't for everyone, it's much more kid-friendly and the animation doesn't do it for everyone, but I adored the characters (especially Kaz, the main character) and their main antagonist is the building First Order, as well as occasional guest appearances by Phasma or Kylo Ren. It had a lot of heart, it was really charming, but it's a cautious rec despite that I loved it very much.
Hopefully, this should help you find some stuff to read!

dooku: jedi lost: part 3: liveblog part 1
ok. time for part 3!
god the snark is 10/10. a credit to her lineage.
side note the courage of star wars authors to describe weird gross slime aliens is beyond me.
IF I'M UNDERSTANDING THE SERIES OF EVENTS CORRECTLY YES KY. YES YOU DID FAIL HER. (you can just???? adopt a kid and take her into danger constantly without even notifying next of kin in case something happens to you????)
SERIOUSLY. WHAT HAPPENED KY. WHY. (especially since he keeps insisting that dooku is lying about the jedi abandoning him. which means, if this is really ky, that he abandoned the jedi. that he's the sole decision maker responsible for depriving asajj of a support system.) either way, 10/10 for asajj immediately picking up on making fun of yoda. she's gonna meet him for the first time and be like "do i need to uproot a tree for you??"
the icon we don't deserve honestly.
OLD FRIEND?????? YOU'RE SEVENTEEN SIFO.
(although i suppose when i was seventeen i also felt quite ancient. but i wasn't going around calling people "old friend" lmao. then again i didn't have any friends quite like dooku.)
ALSO 17 YO DOOKU HAS A DISTINGUISHED REGAL BEARD
y'all i love sifo the seer but. i was enjoying their stupid childhood shenanigans WITHOUT visions! let them run around breaking into library vaults ugh. and they were being so cute before!!!! sifo brought back a cute souvenir from his mission for doo!!!! and then he BROKE IT BECAUSE VISION??? I RESENT THE ANGST!!!!
if i were dooku here i would probably once again draw my saber on lene and be like SINCE HE LEARNED TO OPEN HIS MIND??? WHAT DID YOU DRUG HIM WITH
(seriously i feel like i see a lot more love for lene in fandom than i'm feeling for her here. maybe she'll grow on me by the end of the book? but right now it really feels like she's just dragging two bright eyed boys into stupid dark side shenanigans without real care for the consequences. or maybe i'm just crying because hindsight is 20/20 and DOOKSY DESERVED BETTER 2KFOREVA.)
now that i've judged lene's take on sifo's visions, it's time to judge yoda for his.
a WARNING would not go amiss sir??? like this isn't "my vision said to commission a bunch of clones" or "my vision said to murder this guy" or something like that. this is just "hey what if we warn them of a potential natural disaster so they can prepare". what's misleading there??? no you don't want to create unjustified panic but making sure emergency systems are in place is always good especially if you have any reason to believe they may be necessary. this is like straight up due diligence??
i am kind of fascinated by this bit. i have somewhat mixed feelings about it, tbh; not sure that i'm a fan of the "he's always been obsessed with fire and damnation" take on dooku. i mean it doesn't not work, such a serious kid probably would have a relatively detached and academic take on armageddon, but... idk. reveling feels a step too far?
anyways, the other side of the mixed feelings is that i really love that end bit. "i knew the universe would endure, and if it didn't, it wouldn't be because of gods or powers beyond our understanding" is such a banger line. i'm just not sure it feels like a line that belongs /here/ exactly yk??
DOO DOVE IN TO RESCUE SI!! SI INJURED HIMSELF IN A SEA OF BACTA!!! i'm not happy he's hurt it's just these boys are so fucking precious. and stupid. doo doo doo dum dums
THE OLD FASHIONED WAY IS JUMPING OUT A WINDOW. DOOKU IS A CHAOS GREMLIN. don't let him trick you into believing otherwise. he'll act like he's the most sensible one of the disaster lineage while he's the one who became a sith and is leading a separatist movement.

Machiko Kyō (Rashomon, Floating Weeds, Older Brother Younger Sister)— Considered an early sex symbol in Japanese cinema. Also just an ethereal beauty who can also go feral/unhinged in a glorious way.
This is round 3 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Machiko Kyō:
Judy:
And she can do everything between happy or silly and angry or heartbroken

dw rewatch - takes on "the end of the world"
companion watch:
"the artic desert" hits different lol
something something bella vs the witch
rose's fear attack when she finds heres lf in the alien situation. she's genuinely terrified! it's a good beat, man. more than that, it's a rare beat. I get a lot of people don't vibe with it and prefer the more "buffy-esque approach, since it's "more to the point" and gets you larger than life figures… but personally I much prefer it when scifi/fantasy scenarios are portrayed as the terrifying reality they would be. also this: "ROSE: I just hitched a ride with a man. I don't even know who he is. He's a complete stranger"
war of the world vibes with the little robot fellas. /unintentional parallel to how cassandra dies and how the aliens in that book die?
"it gets inside and changes my mind, and you didnt even ask" "i didnt think about it like that" it's interesting that rose question this tbh
"five billion years in the future, my mum's dead" "bundle of laughs you are" /god i love this exchange. nine's constant attempt to downplay ANY surfacing of Real Emotions. rose's naivety in contemplating for the first time in her life that oh yeah, people die. the first statement of the "everything dies, everything ends" theme that will be woven throughout all the rtd era.
ngl i wish rose Did More in the plot of this episode, in terms of actually solving the crisis, feels like a stepdown after Rose giving her the most climatic moment... that said she does get a lot of great quibs in this one: "you two go pollinate and i'll go meet the family"/ "and i want you home by midnight!"/ "its better to die than to live like you, a bitchy trampoline" / "youre just lipstick and skin"
she's really similar to nine/ten in that aspect. they both have that "humor as defense mechanism" thing
blorbos:
the way nine and rose Lean in those stairs…. im Looking respectfully and im Thinking pure thoughts. (honestly ppl talk a lot about ten and rose's body language in s2 but there was A Lot going on with nine and rose as early as episode 1)
"all that counts is here and now" can't tell if zen mindfulness or a desperate defense mechanism to cope with ptsd.
first thing rose does is call her mum ): - Cassandra "I'm too young" vs Ten's "I was going to do so much more"...(ben wyatt voice) it's about the hypocrisy (oh having written this note before rewatching new earth... put a pin on that!)
timeless child retroactive continuity bonus: perhaps cassandra as "the last human" (not really a "human") paralleling "the last timelord" (not really a "timelord)? - "JABE: And what about your ancestry, Doctor? Perhaps you could tell a story or two. Perhaps a man only enjoys trouble when there's nothing else left". well post-s13 they're gonna enjoy themselves a lot more lol - there's something very anti-entropy about how the child gets to regenerate indefinitely without "losing" its essence and its dna integrity (vs cassandra's "flatness", the child gains more and more complexity as time passes).
colonialism/hegemony: - NINE: "mind you, when I say "the great and the good" what I mean is the rich." / "Five billion years and it still comes down to money" / this maybe be harsh,,, honestly i hate to say but doctor who sometimes really is just typical neolib """anti-capitalist""" fiction. - in the sense that it pretends to be anti-capitalist, but really is just capitalist realist. it's writers can imagine 203223 scenarios of the earth dying but they cannot conceive of a post-capitalist world, a classless society or simply a world without taxes. Of course you could say "this is so these stories are relatable" but even in their relatedness, there's rarely a portrayal of the anti-capitalist struggle (rather than just generic star wars-style, ideology-less "rebellions).- (that said, obligatory "I'm not a politics robot" disclaimer... "Do you think it's cheap, looking like this? Flatness costs a fortune." is an iconic retort lol) - there's also a kind of subtle Myth Of The Linear Progress Of History thing going on with cassandra being framed as someone who "stayed behind" and has not embraced this analogue to our "Color Blind Post Racial Society" which has "Obviously" outgrown prejudice and notions of racial purity. - "good thing i didn't take you to the deep south" / "you were to busy making cheap shots about the deep south" // parallels to-> "who do you think makes your clothes?" "Is that why you travel 'round with a human at your side? It's not so you can show them the wonders of the universe, it's so you can take cheap shots?" "sorry" . actually no rtd i dont think these are chepashots at all lol they are VERY relevant shots!! it's very transparent how the writers are kind of meek about making these *truly* transgressive points, but it's much easier to have the doctor argue that rose having a donor card is "a different morality"... again one is truly transgressive, the other is fun-but-no-challenging-of-the-hegemony scifi "dilemma". - the "quick word with Michael Jackson" line is doing A Lot but idek how to even begin to entangle it lol it's very 00s, for sure. - for once, a self aware one: "People have died, Cassandra. You murdered them." / "It depends on your definition of people, and that's enough of a technicality to keep your lawyers dizzy for centuries"
themes: - everything has its time and everything ends check your bingo cards. racial purity vs mixing vs 'progress'. class. life cycles. gut instinct (rose jumping the gun to empatise w/ the doc + nine going through the fans + rose reaction to the alien parade). destruction as tourism, as "artistic event" (an uncomfortable parallel to how this is what our heroes will be doing for the next 10+ seasons). - this episode does a bit of a u-turn on the previous (And the next) on its constant questioning of the intrinsic "meaning" of a physical body. in this, cassandra's continuous operations are framed as a kind of "lost of an essence". also the "surface" of her thinking as metaphor for her missing the "essence" of what it means to be human (biologically but more fundamentally, ethically).
Live Fast Die Young / YOLO / everyone deserves to be mourned. everyone deserves a dignified death. thread carefully and cherish life, because it will all be gone. our time is limited and short and it is because it is short that it means something. Life only means anything because there's Death.
ecology and environmentalism. "there are many species in that planet. mankind is only one / I'm a direct descendant of the tropical rainforest." obsessed with it. wish they brought back the rainforest.
#60threwatch#god why is this so long#why cant i ever be SUCCINCT dammit#dw#doctor who#love how tumblr decides to format some of these bullet points and some not

okay i finally finished the star wars sequel trilogy and here’s my opinion and thoughts on each of the movies that no one asked for but i want to share anyway 🤓🤓 spoilers below!
The Force Awakens:
Don’t have a strong opinion on this movie TBH, I think it’s the weakest of the three but it’s a good introduction movie.
Wasn’t expecting Han’s death…RIP TO A REAL ONE😭
Still don’t understand how Rey was able to beat a trained Kylo Ren in battle…she was too OP for the first movie.
Kylo’s back story isn’t convincing enough and I think he’s kind of lame, I don’t think they did him justice.
Transitioning between scenes is so reminiscent of the OG triology and I love it.
The Last Jedi:
THE BEST OUT OF THE THREE!! I really enjoyed this movie; especially all the different sub plots. I loved that we got to see more characters.
I AM A FINNPOE ENTHUSIAST
I AM NOT A REYLO ENTHUSIAST
I liked Rose’s character and her dynamic with Finn!! Kelly Marie Tran did not deserve all the hate she got ): Rose was awesome ):
The scene in Snoke’s throne, Kylo reminded me so much of Anakin in ROTS, from the hair to the expression on his face, I literally think he channeled Anakin’s energy into his performance (think of Anakin when he first pledged loyalty to Palpatine)
Kinda confused on the direction they went in with Luke. You mean to tell me Luke refused to kill Darth Vader because he believed there was light still in him, but couldn’t extend the same hope to Kylo? Idk, Luke’s main characteristic is that he’s the hopeful, optimistic hero and I feel like they completely scrapped that. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY DONT EVEN DIRECTLY TELL YOU WHY KYLO HAD SO MUCH DARKNESS IN HIM, i blame the story tellers
Luke saying no one’s ever really gone…yeah I cried 😭
I knew Luke died from like years ago, but watching his force spirit in front of the two suns just reminded me of that iconic scene in ANH where he’s standing in front of the two Tatooine suns. Literally one of my favorite Star Wars scenes EVER 🥹
The Rise of Skywalker
I think my biggest gripe with this trilogy is that it completely ruins Anakin/Vader being the Chosen One. Like….George Lucas confirms he’s the Chose One and then we see in ROTJ that he helps brings balance to the force, thus completing the prophecy. BUT THEN PALPATINE DIDNT DIE AND HES BACK AND THAT MAKES THE PROPHECY COMPLETELY MOOT AND THATS AN INSULT TO MY POOKIE.
Didn’t expect Leia to die…I know Carrie died (RIP TO A REAL ONE) but I honestly didn’t know she was going to die in the movie and I kept on wondering how they were going to pull it off. And I’m just realizing they killed each of the OG trio 😭
We needed more Rose.
They built up Finn to be a love interest for Rey in the first movie then completely scrapped that idea for Reylo 😭
Not sure how I feel about Reylo. I was really hoping they wouldn’t kiss then BOOM they kissed. Idk I just don’t think the chemistry was there.
I still think they did Kylo’s character building dirty, but I did enjoy his redemption arc. RIP
The voices of all the Jedi guiding Rey, I CRIED OKAYYYYYY
FINNPOE SUPREMACY
I love FinnPoe, but also Finn and Poe separately. Oscar and John were amazing
Seeing all the Death Stars crash, the Ewoks looking up and cheering, the celebration scene 😭😭😭😭 I cried so much IDK it just reminded me so much of the the end of ROTJ and honestly I’m a huge sucker for a good winning final scene.
Overall, I enjoyed the trilogy more than I thought I would and while I do think it’s not PERFECT and I do think there’s a lot to fix, I do think a lot of SW fans are just salty and hated the idea of a more diverse, female led franchise. I would definitely watch again (:
Now I need to know what happens after lol

Okay, now that it's over, allow me to explain the rationale for each and every one. Spoilers, of course.
The Sonic Bible was a fan favorite, as half the listed here are. I said "Which one did I miss" and you all said "Oh, remember when BDG said he never played a Sonic game?" and its treated as this big masterclass of trickery when really it's not. Tons of people are aware of giant media icons and don't interact with their source material. Pokemon is like, the biggest media franchise and there are Poketubers out there who have never played a Pokemon game. It's Plato's cave out here, and not playing a Sonic game isn't so much a reveal as it is the natural cadence of the video. A lot of BDG videos are like that. Or maybe I'm just fucking stupid, idk.
Shapeland was insane from conception to reveal. The long explanation about how such a model was difficult to implement, much less repeat. The giant timecard about how this was exactly what he did. Then the reveal that ShapeLand IS real, that it's a real park with real attendance numbers on a real date in actual history, that they could run this with ANY date - that was insane. That was iconic. No one does it like Kevin Perjuror.
The Dark Brony Double Life was insane because of the LACK of theatrics. To this day, my Discord status says "AND SO THE PONY CONSUMES ITS OWN TAIL." because of the spiralling nature of the concept of horse famous. Jenny foreshadows the reveal ONCE, and then casually just goes "by the way, I made Friendship is Witchcraft" and it utterly recontextualizes not just that video, but the other Pony videos she's done. She's not just a dedicated fan vis a vis her Star Wars and Harry Potter videos, no, she was HORSE FAMOUS, to the point that she had IMPERSONATORS. You all had a pick and you were right, good on ya.
Alex Lasarenko won last time, too. Tbh, its pretty good. The whole video was leading up to the reveal of Alex writing the Disney Channel theme, but slowly, the video becomes more than a deep dive. It becomes an obituary, a tribute, a biography of a late man who soundtracked a lot of kids' childhoods, with a single four-note melody. And Kevin decides to not let that define Alex's life, like he feels Defunctland might one day define him. And so, throughout this mystery-biopic, he plays Alex Lasarenko's music, and only ever tells you this once the time is right. And it flips the definition of Alex Lasarenko on its head, and THAT'S a reveal that has me on the brink of tears every time.
QAnon is a reveal, yes, and I'm glad you all recommended this one because I HADN'T seen it before. It's a sobering reveal, however. You're having a time, learning about the decline of flat earthers and you're learning how antisemitism and the like fuels most modern occultism and conspiracies, and then you're hit with how they're all at QAnon now, and you're explained the cult of QAnon, and this becomes historical horror. Because the history is now. And the horror is you can SEE the end result as it is. SEW isn't a sibyl, but goddamn was that a portent. With the way y'all were batting for it, I figured it'd be higher-rated. Ah well.
Waluigi, in my opinion, was an insane reveal because it wasn't just the reveal of the video - it was the reveal of a full SEASON. Of REAL LIFE. For those of you unaware of Polygon history (unlike me, who had an on-off crush on Pat Gill), Brian was some hairless Baltimore twink like some kind of emaciated harbor seal, and one day, he decided to grow a mustache. This was, as I'm sure you'll imagine, unpopular with his fanbase because he was a white twink in a suit. He had to publically go, in a video that season, "You aren't my friends and you have no say in what I do with my body". The Gilbertheads (they dont call themselves that) were INSANE over this mustache. And then he makes a Waluigi video, who was ALSO becoming a popular meme because... I assume Reddit or 4chan was responsible somehow. And you slowly realize, as the video goes on, ESPECIALLY when the words FMV tumble out of his lips, that, oh no, he's attempting to BE Waluigi. And then he opines about the nature of Luigi, after disparaging him the whole video. And behind him, fucking Vesti la Giubba from Pagliachi has been growing in volume. And he says "[...] I'm-a Luigi." so despondently it alters his color scheme, culminating in him shaving off the mustache ON SCREEN. Ridi, Pagliaccio.
People have said that the Victorious series finale infuriated them, and GOOD. Throught the mini-miniseries, Quinton had been casually stating the episode number, implying a finale was going to happen, potentially even gaslighting people into thinking "wait, WAS there a finale?" and since he reviewed the Victorious episodes as they came, you were ultimately left unsure. This is Quinton Reviews, the guy who dug up the very first Garfield newspaper comics and BECAME the foremost expert on Garfield (in what I like to call his Agatha Christie moment), of course he might be thorough enough to dig up some lost media finale. He found theslap.com, for god's sake. And then he introduces the finale. And the screen goes black. It's black for a little too long. And the lights come up. And he reveals his trick. Notably, he had never actually SAID what was in the finale, just alluded it happened, and subtly building up to it. And it never existed. And he WANTS you to feel enraged. Because that was the attitude at the time.
Tommy Talarico, I'll admit, wasn't so much of a reveal as it was a deranged second video. Of course, that's if Tommy Talarico was the reveal in and of itself. A few eagle-eyed pollers may have noticed that I never specified WHAT aspect of Tommy boy was the reveal, and that's because Tommy Talarico is a rabbit hole that would make Frederik Knudson squirt across the room (go follow him on Twitch, he's an owl-themed VTuber now (Fred, not Tom)). He was never on Cribs. He bought his world records. He lies constantly for his own ego. He's a throwaway line on the first half of the video, and then HBG turns off the greenscreen and begins a long exposé on the son of a bitch. And every single line there is another bullet to the chest. It's its own brand of unhinged, and I respect everyone who got it to second place.
The Forgiveness of Jon (u/Rojom, 2020, Pencil on paper) wasn't really a reveal, so much as a notable piece of r/imsorryjon lore. In the same manner as Sonic, this isn't so much a reveal as it is the natural conclusion of the way the video was heading. One might CONSIDER it a reveal, as many will point out it's a direct contrast to the way Jon was depicted in all other works, up to and including the ending of the Sex Survey Results, but its a reveal in the way a final magnum opus from a long-dead painter is a reveal. However, perhaps that's all it has to be. Still a little ill-fitting for the poll, tho.
Anyways congrats to Alex-boy for winning a second time! :)
This is a sequel to this poll
EDIT: since i realize yall havent watched everything here like i have, here's all of them in a completely random order.

Can I have some miscellaneous bengali movie recs pls?
I haven't watched a Bengali film in ages tbh but since it's pujo season here are some recs for nostalgia. Also I know some people are going to be assholes in the comments so, THESE ARE JUST MY OWN FAVES. THEY DON'T REPRESENT ALL OF BENGALI CINEMA:
Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Apur Sansar: The Apu Trilogy (Satyajit Ray)
Probably THE most iconic works of Bengali cinema and easily some of the greatest films to be ever made in world history. Satyajit Ray's pet project, based on the novels by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, recounts the story of an impoverished family in 1920s rural Bengal, focusing especially on the figure of Apu, the wide eyed and perceptive little boy whose life and relationships we follow through the three movies. Equal parts bildungsroman and a love letter to Gram Bangla, with added social commentary of pre independence India and the advent of Western thought and education in Bengal. Also watch the recently released Aparajito (2022, dir. Anik Datta) which is a delightful work that tells you the history behind the making of Pather Panchali.
Goopi Gyne Bagha Byne, Hirak Rajar Deshe, Goopi Bagha Phire Elo: Goopi Bagha Trilogy (Satyajit Ray)
If you haven't watched this AMAZING fantasy series omg what are you even doing??? Goopi Bagha is the story of two bumbling outcasts, who are thrown out of their respective villages, for causing a ruckus with their lack of musical talent (Goopi sings badly and Bagha plays the drum horribly). After spending a night playing bad music in a haunted forest, they receive three boons from the King of Ghosts (Bhooter Raja, voiced by Ray himself) when their music weirdly pleases him. And that's just the first part to their adventures. We have two warring brother kings, an evil magician, a scientist with a brainwashing device, food falling from the sky and teleporting shoes. It's funny, it's magical and it's got instantly memorable scenes, characters and set pieces. And the songs, OH my god, the songs are SO good.
Sonar Kella, Joy Baba Felunath: The Classic Feluda Films (Satyajit Ray)
Feluda, the beloved detective figure who is Bengal's response to Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, has appeared over the decades in many films essayed by many famous actors, but these two are special because Ray himself, who also wrote the Feluda novels, directed them and they star legends Soumitra Chatterjee and Santosh Dutta, along with many other familiar faces of Bengali cinema. Set in Jaisalmer and Varanasi respectively, with many dialogues and characters that have become a part of household Bengali culture, these two detective thrillers have enough charm and heart to make for a great watch this puja. (Joy Baba Felunath is also set during Durga Puja).
Koni (Saroj Dey)
Based on the novel by Moti Nandi, Koni is the story of a very poor young girl who is also a very gifted swimmer. She is taken under the tutelage of the gruff- but secretly compassionate- swim coach Khitish (again the iconic Soumitra) who is recovering from his disgrace at the local club, and he trains her for the National Swimming Championship. It's a very touching and really sad story, and I recommend reading the book as well, if you can find a copy.
Marjina Abdullah (Dinen Gupta)
Yes it's an Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves retelling and YES it's SO MUCH fun. Mithu Mukherjee is so pretty and fun as Marjina!!! Just go into it expecting a campy Bengali movie and you'll love it. Banging OST, they also got colour photography only for an item number at the end, which is pretty Chad ™ of them.
Kabuliwala (Tapan Sinha)
1957 film based on Rabindranath Tagore's short story about the unlikely friendship between Mini, a little Bengali girl and Rehmat, an Afghan Kabuliwala (travelling fruit seller) who visits her street daily to peddle his wares. Very soft, comforting and heartwarming film. The actress who played the little Mini actually hailed from the Tagore family.
Alo (Tarun Majumdar)
Aka the movie that made me cry like a baby. This is a story about a young woman (played by the radiant Rituparna Sengupta) who marries a teacher and moves into his ancestral village, going on to form very meaningful relationships with the villagers. The movie ends with tragedy, and has quite sombre themes throughout, just be warned, but it is such a powerful piece of Bengali cinema, with an emphasis on sororal love. Great music, mostly Rabindra Sangeet, by Arundhati Holme Chowdhury.
Jaatishwar (Srijit Mukherji)
A Gujarati attempts to woo his Bengali girlfriend by researching the music of Bengal and writing his own song. His endeavours lead him to a library in Chandannagar, where he meets a mysterious man who agrees to help him. The catch? The man claims he is the reincarnation of Anthony Firingee, a 19th century Portuguese traveller musician who became a folk singer after reaching Bengal (Prosenjit Chatterjee is at his zenith with his double role.) What follows next is a tale of cultural nostalgia, shared history, folk music and startling revelations. This is one of the greatest Bengali films of the 21st century, and the OST is GORGEOUS. also the entire climactic sequence deserves an Oscar and will devastate you.
Mahalaya (Soumik Sen)
Finally, if you really want to get into the Pujo mood, watch this beautiful and underrated gem of a movie, which chronicles the history of the famous radio recording of 'Mahisasuramardini', a religious programme that formally heralds Mahalaya or the beginning of Durga Puja and is broadcast every year at dawn. Subhasish Mukhopadhyay, one of the finest actors of Bengal, plays Birendra Krishna Bhadra, the artist who had originally recorded and sang the iconic programme. Jishu Sengupta plays Uttam Kumar, who was infamously chosen to replace Bhadra in 1976. The rest, as they say, is history. Watch it, you won't regret it.
Hope you find something from here to your liking.

Asks Compilation 30/05
And they really do. It’s kind of a crime that they never grew up together, because that would have been the funniest shit ever.
I’ll give them a look soon then! I’m planning on doing a few in-between things like that after the conclusion of Act 4.
That’s four accidental references. I guess when your comic is already so reference-heavy, this becomes kind of a statistical inevitability.
I really gotta check out this game.
That’s hilarious, but also - people do live reads on Twitch? That’s so fun! It wouldn’t be for me, but I’d love to watch some of those, once I’ve finished the comic. It’s such a novel way to do something like this.
The Midnight Crew are duplicated across sessions, and I think it’s pretty likely that the same goes for all unique Carapaicians. I’m fairly confident that WV, PM and AR all exist in the troll session.
If he’s always predisposed to rebel, then he’s just another card Sburb can play. It’s like anon said - if the Reckoning is coming on a little too early, he attacks the Black King to delay it, so Players can get there on time.
But he can’t ever win, because the game decrees that Prospit can’t be spared. This is why I hope he isn’t scripted, because if he is, this whole thing gets really tragic really fast.
Hah, I noticed after I posted it, but I didn’t bother to change it. It really captured the energy of those last few panels.
Hell yeah! 😍 It’ll be cool to see how the design evolves as I learn what each of the trolls’ features actually mean and signify.
They’re honestly a ton of fun to make. I haven’t done any sprite work in a long time, and it’s been really fun to get back into it!
Damn it, this is what happens when you type your FAQ at 2am...
Theory: The Guardians weren’t cloned from themselves. They were created from mutant TBH DNA, and the Striders are the least mutated of all.
Oh, yeah, I can for sure believe that people would still ship these kids post-Veil - lest we forget the perfect storm of discourse that was early Supernatural.
It’s probably a good thing that these kids were thirteen-year-old online friends, and not eighteen-year-old college roommates. That could have got really awkward, and I imagine (read: hope) that Sburb intercedes to make sure such situations don’t arise.
Again: My heartfelt thanks to all readers for not asking me about shipping pre-Veil. I don’t think I would have shipped RoseDave or JohnJade, but if I’d actually had reason to think about it at the time, you never know...
Like, I know this stuff is probably just being alchemized, but I can’t get over the possibility that Players have ‘iconic accessories’ built into their DNA.
Except the Striders. They just get big ol’ eyes.
Love the idea that Battlefield Carapacians have their own distinct culture. Living in an eternal war zone would change you, no matter how deeply ingrained your Sburb programming was.
I like to think that when WV rose up, it was the war-weary Battlefield Carapacians who were the first to stand beside him
Thanks a bunch, and get well soon! I’m glad that the liveblog is helping you through it!
So it’s a fanmade video that was confirmed as canon later on? Or is it more that the author likes it so much that they consider it canon? Either way, I’ll check it out when I can be sure it won’t spoil me on anything!
Thank you! You can thank @beneath-these-bones for the initial design. It’s a fantastic base, and I plan to update it when I get round to drawing some alchemy gear.
It works either way! Despite the fact that I never get assigned the Space Aspect, I still love all things astronomical.
Yeah, I’m inclined to agree. I love the star’s dopey face, but the planet does look a lot better. Initially I made the planet’s ring fully horizontal, but this is definitely an improvement.
Chillingly plausible. Now that we know Rose’s Grimoire is the real deal, who knows what effect that thing was having on her, over the years? Plus, she’s been dreaming on Derse her whole life...
