Happy Birthday Leeli's Littles! 💜

On this day one year ago Leeli FINALLY had her kittens and I was overjoyed to find that not only did SHE make it through labor, but so did SIX of her kittens. We had no idea if ANY of them would be born alive and all but one was- I had expected the reverse ratio.

Happy Birthday to Madia, Farid, Meggie, Violet and Dustfinger, and an honorary happy birthday to Tulip and their 7th sibling who didn't make it. (that one should probably be named Pine, or Pine Cone, since it's buried underneath our teeny pine tree)

So, fun fact, this^ is Madia as a literal newborn. Apparently a perk of having raised all the kittens is that I can now almost always tell them apart when looking back at their baby pictures. Little peanut does NOT fit in my hand anymore, but being able to see when she could is so special. 💜

Proof of purchase: yes, our white Bengal kitten DID have six tiny black kittens, what's your point? (it's genetics, apparently, you need two cats with a snow Bengal gene to make a snow Bengal, and, well, the babies' father was a street kitty and obviously didn't have a snow gene. So, the charcoal genes took over and we got six tiny black precious babies- though two ended up being silvers, so there's that too)

📝 General notes:

Marinette, aka Maman, started out as a very successful and very stressed out fashion designer. She ends up retiring at 35 to take over the bakery and finally learn to chill (it’s going… better than expected).

Luka, aka Papa, is a guitarist with a very niche following and is perfectly happy with that. He’s very present in his kids’ lives and the easiest parent to open up to, because of course he is.

Adrien, aka Dad, is the stay-at-home parent and could not be more stoked. And scared. Someone help them

Emma and Hugo are twins, but look nothing like each other, which baffled Adrien and Felix when they were born; Adrien will never admit it, but he was a tiny bit disappointed they weren’t identical.

To help the kids connect with their heritage, their parents speak French, English and Mandarin Chinese at home. Despite it all, Louis’ first words were a full sentence in Japanese — more on that later.

It’s very common for French kids to have two “middle names” (deuxième et troisième prénoms), so I have planned accordingly. Enjoy!

🐍 Emma

Her full name is Emma Sentibug Alya Dupain-Cheng. Adrien would not have it any other way.

She’s the oldest by five minutes and she takes it very seriously. Too seriously, even.

Emma inherited Gabriel’s grey eyes, which will have no influence on her perception of herself at all, no sir.

Like Marinette, she feels responsible for protecting everyone and everything around her, which is why she was blacklisted from using the Ladybug Miraculous before she reached the tender age of five.

As luck would have it, she ended up with the Snake, which is even worse for her mental health. For maximum dramatic irony, I think I’ll call her superheroine persona Aspik.

Aroace and sad. It’s already hard enough to be aspec as it is, but given the importance romance played in her parents’ lives… you get the point.

🦋 Hugo

Aka Hugo Felix Tom Dupain-Cheng. Yes, Felix cried upon learning his name. A lot.

Inherited Mari’s talent for arts and crafts and Adrien’s dramatics. Despite being very similar to them both, he often finds it difficult to talk to them.

Uncle Felix, however, is his absolute favourite adult in the world, and regularly knocks some sense into him.

Adrien and Nino were so excited for their sons to be besties! So naturally they hate each other’s guts

They end up kissing about it, though, so it’s fine.

🐈‍⬛ Louis

Aka Louis Nino Jules (after Juleka)

Because twins were a lot to handle, Louis only came along six years later.

When he doesn’t get his way, he turns petulant and grumpy, which makes him Plagg’s absolute favourite. Luka finds it endearing and jokes that they rub off on each other. This stresses Adrien out, though, as he fears it might be an early sign of Gabriel Behaviour.

The truth is that Louis just has these huge feelings that he doesn’t know how to handle… and you know who relates to this? KAGAMI. She’s the only one who can get him to calm down once he starts crying. She will pick him up, he will cling to her jacket and suck on his thumb, and she will carry on with the conversation as if nothing happened.

Originally Very Small, he gets a HUGE growth spurt and ends up built like Tom, which is very unusual for Cat holders.

🐞 Sabine

Aka Sabine Amelie Rose

The surprise baby of the bunch. She looks just like her grandma Sabine!

A total ray of sunshine. Also very gay.

As the youngest and eventual holder of the Ladybug Miraculous, she triggers Mari’s overprotective tendencies the most. Adrien actually had to step up and get her to back off as it was starting to stir up bad memories.

Because Rose was very ill when the twins and Louis were young, she and Juleka didn’t get to watch them as much as she would have liked. They made it up by spoiling their younger niece beyond reason.

The most musically inclined of the kids. Her love for punk rock and metal clashes hard with her cutesy vibes. Rose couldn’t be prouder. 💖

❓ #QOTD What's your favorite witchy read? ❓ 🦇 Bowen Penhallow has always been a loner, studying dark and ancient magic on a mountaintop in Wales. Tamsyn Bligh is not a witch, but she makes her living off of them as a procurer of magical items. Bowen becomes her exclusive client—as well as the star of several of Tamsyn’s dirtiest dreams. They both attend a wedding at Tywyll House—Bowen to help a dearly departed friend, Tamsyn to complete a job that would set her up for life. Unfortunately, a strong spell combined with a wedding mishap transports Bowen and Tamsyn into Tywyll House’s past, to the Yuletide Celebration of 1958. Can Bowen and Tamsyn work together to get back to the present while fighting feelings for one another--before it's too late?

💜 Erin Sterling's prose is strong, witty, and enchanting. The chemistry between Tamsyn and Bowen is off-the-charts from the moment they meet in person, simmers through texts and emails, only to completely boil over once they meet again in person. This is a fun, flirty read, perfect for witchy season!

💙 Unfortunately, the story itself leaves much to be desired. As the third book in a series, the characters and world-building should be well-established. Instead, this reads like the writer was rushed to meet a deadline with only a half-baked idea. A lot of the chemistry builds off-page, leaving us with more of an insta-love story (no thank you). The mixed time travel/Parent Trap plot is messy, and most sources of conflict are resolved without explanation. There's so much potential here, but it doesn't quite meet the mark.

i passed the semester with equal parts a’s and b’s (ngl the b’a hurt a bit bc it’s the first time in like 6 years i’ve gotten a b in a class😪 but im just glad that i made it)

my uni friends and i went out drinking to celebrate the semester being over( there were a lot of college students and we felt old af). we got so drunk that it was so weird for me but it was so fun to let loose for the first time in a loooooong time.

we just finished booking everything we needed for lolla and im a bit more excited now.

two stray cats that we haven’t been able to spay yet gave birth so there’s that. i love kittens, they’re the cutest but i always get so stressed at socializing them and/or finding homes for them because people are irresponsible af with their pets here but i can’t keep taking cats in without my cats and my other financial responsibilities being affected </3 i’ve been kinda guilty for the trip too bc of the money we’ve spent

my dad found a premature newborn kitten and it sadly passed away too </3

and, finally, i’m taking my masters’ comprehensive tests in two weeks and im terrified of failing them (i’ll update when i get the results so 🤞🏻).

Also FEEL YOU on the kitten thing…. kittens are so so so much work and they stress me out so bad. One of my neighbors at my parents’ house once left behind their cat who gave birth in our shed and we has to care for the last kitten who survived (super tiny little premature baby) and even though we rushed her to the vet and watched after her for a few days, she passed 💔 that was the moment that I remember being like….. kittens are just so much more fragile than people think and difficult to care for. You did the best that you could :( thank you for being there for them regardless.

It seems to be Adrien a lot lately, and he’s, uh. Not doing well.

But see this is actually wonderful (I promise it is) because we get to experience Felix from his perspective and 🥺 They love each other very much 🥺

It’s also a great way to lean into this trope subversion I love so much because to Adrien, Felix is the main character: he’s constantly on the move, driven by something bigger than him (It’s YOU you oblivious kitten!!! It’s always been YOU!!!), and eventually he is always the one to come to his rescue. Even in fics like God Games or Everything I did (I did for you), where Adrien steps into his role as the eldest and therefore protector, Felix remains his anchor. Despite the secrets and lies, despite the trouble they run into. I love them so much your honour 💚💜

The second episode of Wednesday is finished. What can I say. Purr-fect 😸

⚠️ Warning for spoilers if you still haven't watched the show ⚠️

Things I personally liked about episode:

Edgar Allan Poe. I love the guy as much as Stephen King - they're gods of horror, dark fantasy and suspense (in my humble opinion).

Cats. I love them. And especially black ones (I don't know why people think they bring misfortune - I know they bring luck 🐈‍⬛💜) So yeah, Wednesday on a "cat" team? Amazing. And some additional points for cat puns - I have a soft spot furr them 😹

Enid. She's such a puppy! I mean, all those hugs, and "You'll do this for me?", "We're friends!" - I can almost see her wiggling her tail, and "WWWD?" for me sounded a little like "I did a good job, didn't I? I'm a good girl! Praise me!" She reminds me of my little brother - I call him "my kitten", but he actually acts a lot like a puppy 🐶

The fact that sheriff agreed to listen to Wednesday. That was a really nice surprise. Because I'm used to seeing in the shows where adults think that if it's a kid, then they're stupid. Like "What can you possibly know - you're just a kid!", "Stay out of here, little one", etc.

Things I didn't really like (they didn't ruin anything for me, but they are still exist):

The bee guy - a little secondhand embarrassment, but overall...ugh, okay. I guess, let him be.

The principal. I don't know, maybe she thinks she knows what's good for Wednesday and tries her best to help. But the way she kind of forces her to socialize? I don't like it. I also don't like the fact that she pretended to be Rowan, so that the case was closed (at least I think it was her and that was the reason). I mean, some kind of beast is running around in the woods and killing people - including her students - and she decided that there's no need for investigation? And she made everyone think that Wednesday is a liar. That's probably even worse. We all know Wednesday will more likely just say what she thinks right in your face or at least won't say anything at all.

Sheriff. As sheriff he's kind of good - he goes to investigate Rowan's murder even after he saw the boy alive, he knows that the school of supernatural is the most logical place for the beast to hide (after forest, of course, but they had a search party there and didn't find either body or beast, so...), he agrees to listen to Wednesday (as I mentioned before). But! He's clearly a shitty dad. And a person. It's my personal opinion, of course.

I also have three suspects for the role of beast.

Enid.

I mean, the beast looked like a werewolf-y thing, she could not know that she actually can turn into this and the beast protected Wednesday, so it's a possibility. Right?

Ms. Thornhill (a.k.a. "dorm mom").

Okay, maybe she's not a beast, but she's kind of shady... She seems nice, but I have this strange vibes from her, this feeling that something is off. Is she even a "Normie" or is she just really good at hiding?

Tyler.

Okay, yeah. This sounds CRAZY! Believe me, I know. At first it was just a ridiculous suggestion (to myself, I'm watching aaaall alone, that's why you - Tumblr people - have to struggle with my thoughts and theories). I laughed and then thought about it a little more and...

He lives in town near the woods where the murders are happening. Everyone thinks he's "Normie" so no one would suspect him, which makes it easier to kill.

His father is a sheriff, so he knows things about investigation and can do something. He also, probably, knows how to hide a body...

He definitely knows how to throw dogs off the trail (isn't it exactly what he did with the coffee beans?). He could've done something, so the dogs didn't find a body.

He was there when Wednesday ran after Rowan. As a sheriff's son (and a nice person) it wouldn't be surprising if he ran after her. If he's the beast, then it's understandable why he killed Rowan but didn't touch Wednesday - he was protecting her.

He said he believes Wednesday. Meaning he believes that Rowan is dead. If he's the one who killed him, then of course he believes her!

Of course, I might just be going crazy. Maybe all this detective TV shows and books I'm fond of are messing with my head. Or maybe I'm actually onto something? We'll see 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ozzy was a cat that Max found, she was roaming the trailer park without a home and Max wanted to rescue her, but her mom is allergic so couldn’t keep her in the house. I’d just moved into my own place and she asked me to take the cat in, I said I’d look after her with the caveat of me getting to pick their name, and she agreed. So Ozzy has been in my life a couple years now and I adore her :)

They usually follow me around if I’m in the kitchen, but they give me my space unless I’m slouched in the couch or in bed and then they’re all over me demanding cuddles, which I love. Of course I spoil her, she deserves the entire world! I spoil her whenever she’s near me. The kids spoil her too, even Steve leaves a sweater for her to sleep on cause she loves his scent, life’s good for Ozzy Bear.
