Digital Altars📱🔮

Altars are considered a key element of witchcraft for deity worship, elemental, planetary or ancestral connections, or spell work. However, they can be costly, you may not have the space for it, or you may be in the broom closet. But you don't need a physical altar, you don't even need physical tools. Digital altars are a great way to worship deities in the case you’re unable to set up a physical altar. There are heaps of alternatives if you’d like to get creative with it.

Some people doubt the integrity of digital altars, however I believe they gain metaphysical energy as they’re created, which can be used for witchcraft. Think about emoji spells for example!

Digital altars are different to digital shrines, which are similar in concept, but different in purpose. Shrines are more of a permanent honouring of a being, and they don't necessarily have to be used actively. Meanwhile altars are for active worshiping, when you’re actually giving an offering or trying to contact that deity. However, digital altars can also function as a shrine, depending on use!

Below are 19 different options for digital altars (but I'd suggest using multiple!)

Image/Collage Altars

Picrew Altar Sketch (by Camade)

This game was designed specifically for creating altars suitable for sacred spaces to perform deity worship, to connect with ancestors, and to be a witch’s working table. After saving it you can edit the picture frames to add pictures of your deity, your family or any other being. It has a lot of variability so it’s great for creating multiple altars very quickly in a consistent aesthetic.

Here’s a link to one I made the other day, using colours and imagery to suit my purpose. This is probably the easiest of the options, while also being the most versatile. However, there are limitations as you can't really make it specific to your chosen deity unless you edit the image later.

Canva / Morpholio / Photoshop

These allow for creating single image collages to set as your phone or laptop background with crystals, cardinal directions, deity images, candles, wands or any other altar tools, along with quotes, intentions and prayers. This can be as subtle or structured as you want, making it helpful for closeted witches.

You can use the collages you create for wallpapers on your laptop or phone, or you could get them printed out and stick them on your wall!

In-Game Altars

Minecraft

On Minecraft you can built entire structures as an altar or shrine, but you’re limited with decorations unless you install a mod. Mods can give you a lot of room to be creative and have a strong aesthetic. Alternatively, you can build just one room and line it with books, add an enchanting table, potions, diamond/emerald blocks, brewing stands, cauldrons and more, using the standard texture pack.

@gailcraft was kind enough to speak to me about her experiences using altars on Minecraft. She usually uses her Minecraft altars to function as a travel altar or when her physical altar hasn’t been cleansed, mainly as a visual representation of her physical altars rather than an actual workspace. When using her Minecraft altar, she generally keeps it strictly digital, writing out prayers on signs and giving in-game offerings of food and potions which correspond with the deity.

As you can see in the images she’s provided, she’s created a cottage-like structure to house her main digital altar to serve as a safe space, decorated with candles, crystals and plants inside. She has separate deity altars for Hades and Persephone, decorated with skull paintings, gold, spiders eye, crystals, flowers, a skeleton skull, lanterns and the aforementioned offerings in picture frames.

These are great altar alternatives as they don’t require much maintenance or energy, and are suitable for witches who are unable to have a physical altar or who travel a lot.

Another really cool idea for digital altars by @neonswitchhouse is to make digital spell jars by placing items in chests that may best represent your purpose, and you can specify this by writing intents on signs above the chests.

An added bonus is that you can design a skin for your avatar to look like yourself, and you can get pets like wolfs or cats.

Animal Crossing

New Horizons has so much potential for digital altars as it’s super customisable. You can dedicate an entire room in your house to witchcraft, decorating it with a glowing magic-circle flooring, candle wallpaper, candles, stonework kitchen sets, gothic mirrors, decorative bottles, cauldrons, brick ovens, pillars, stone and candle chandeliers. They also have divination sets with crystal balls, incense, bones (in the form of dinosaurs) and a whole load of other decorative options. The main issue is that collecting all of these is time-consuming unless you purchase them online. You can make offerings by placing items that correspond with your deity in your room.

There are heaps of examples of this. @spookynerdghoul has one here and @blomi-isle has one here. Alternatively @ostarasghost has a dedicated corner which you can see here.

You could also make an outdoor altar space, or multiple all around your island. You can create patterns to put on the floor as runes or sigils that correspond with your intent, if you’re looking to do spellwork or deity worship in-game. You could make offerings through art by creating patterns and placing them on stands.

There’s even a zodiac-themed item set that you can create by wishing on shooting stars. You can customise and dress up your avatar to wear cute witchy clothes too, or download outfits from their online section that other players have designed.

On my island, I have one section with a stonehenge which lines up with the full moon, as well as a separate rocky-section with some candles and a skull-hat, and a crescent moon island with a pattern of Saturn that I created, but I encourage you to go more full-out than I did!

Stardew Valley

@baduhennasravensraven classifies these as shrines, but I’d like to show it as an example as a potential altar. They’ve set up multiple sheds to serve as shrines/temples for different deities! You can see images in their post here.

Like for Minecraft, you do needs mods to get the full experience, but again you can make digital spell jars by growing the plants that best represent your purpose and placing them in with items that may best represent your purpose.

Sims / Avakin

I’ve grouped these together because they’re similar, but in both you can design and decorate houses in a 3D virtual world.

Again, expansion and stuff packs are needed to use Sims to the fullest, but you can find some great ones by @simdertalia here and here, or one by @lycheesmods here. Some more of the relevant ones are the Magic School mod (fair warning: it’s Harry Potter inspired) and the Paranomal pack, where you can have ghosts as roomates and perform a séance.

Here's an example altar made on Avakin by @onixdace. I'm not that familiar with this program, but it looks similar in concept to other house-design/decoration games.

Hollowmoor

@hollowmoor-game is a steam game still in the works with a planned release in 2023. I’m not sure yet of specific ideas in using it as a digital altar, but I’m sure it’ll be great, and I’ll update this post when it does come out.

According to their page, “As a budding young Witch or Wizard you’ll need to manage your farm and explore the mystical world to gather your ingredients. Brew potions! Forge enchantments! Complete orders for the townsfolks and learn their stories! Bring magic back to Hollowmoor!”

It seems promising! I believe it’s similar in concept to Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, so I’m sure you could form a digital altar in the same way in Hollowmoor once it’s released.

Abstract Art Altars

Dream AI

[Edited 10 Dec 22] I’ve recently become aware AI art generators steal from creators online and I no longer endorse this method. Instead I recommend using art apps like CSP, playing a devotional playlist and drawing or painting what comes to mind to create an abstract piece of your own for a specific purpose. This way, in very low opacity, you can write out your intention and add images to be displayed subliminally on your altar.

Dream AI is an artificial intelligence art-creating app. You can use this to make an abstract artistic altar by typing in words like your deities name and their associations or a short prayer or intention, use the outcome as an altar by making it your phone background. You can also set a base image to inspire the art with your deity of choice, making a sort of subliminal image of that deity within the creation. This is helpful for closet witches, you can just claim you like the art the AI produced if anyone asks.

Alternatively, you can use the art as a digital offering by posting it on your tumblr altar captioned with a prayer, like @crazyskirtlady has here. Check out her page for more examples of techno witchcraft!

Mixed Media Altars

Notion

Notion is a great organisational app where you can add a mix of photos, gifs, text, embedded videos, music and playlists onto a page, making for a multi-media style altar. You can also store resource notes and links for any research you do.

@caduceussky and @arabellascraft were both kind enough to walk me through how they use their Notion altars!

@caduceussky has multiple different altars for different uses, like for deities and spirits, productivity, work-life balance, and prosperity spells that she uses in conjunction with physical altars, depending on convenience and her personal preference.

For deity/spirit work, she typically sets up her Notion altar first as a placeholder while she’s working on setting up a physical altar, then she treats it like a travel altar. She also use Notion for spell altars that have to do with work and study, since she uses her laptop for those, with separate pages set up for certain spells, sort of like digital spell jars.

For deity/spirit altars, she plays a devotional playlist while setting up the altar and adds a photo of a candle and photos of the deity/spirit or their associations like a collage. Digital offerings can go here, too, such as devotional writing or art. It can also be used as a journal to write her experiences and lessens she’s learnt from the deity/spirit.

For spell altars, she writes her intention at the top of the page, and any additional manifestations underneath. Similar to her deity/spirit altars, she includes photos of associations of the spell’s intentions, and sigils specific to the spell.

@arabellascraft uses her Notion altar for spontaneous rituals and spellwork as her physical altars are generally temporary. She meditates to her Notion altar or leaves a note, for example for gratitude.

She practices Irish folk traditions, one of which being having a moment of reflection and prayer when you first see the new moon of the month. Having her Notion altar in her pocket makes practicing this simple as it’s portable, however, one weakness is that there’s a lack of a physical connection. On the up side, the ability to embed playlists into Notion keeps her in the spiritual mindset rather than having to go back and forth in Spotify.

There’s about to be a Notion AI too, with the function of brainstorming assistance. This means you can type in something such as “What can I do to increase my mindfulness,” and a list of related answers and ideas will be produced, or “Write a poem about the God Apollo,” and the AI will generate one for you. You can join the waitlist here.

Phone App Altars

#Self-Care

This game includes a digital altar with a function to integrate your personal experiences by setting objects to a meaning, memory or realisation, like a journal. It also has organising functions to put objects away from you altar when you’re done with them and bring them back out when you’d like to display them again.

You can gain objects for your altar by performing in-game tasks like putting away laundry, fill-in-the-blank word activities with your choice of affirmations or life tips, simple puzzles, and gain tarot cards by picking a daily tarot card. You can also light a candle and type in an intention!

It does take a while to collect enough objects to display for a particular purpose, but if your digital altar is going to be your main altar, this one is a good long-term option.

The app is customisable to a certain extent with colours and designs, but some of the fancier stuff you have to pay for (like nicer backgrounds and patterns).

Discord

On Discord, you can join a public server with custom categories to use as digital altars, such as this one by @homeiswherethehearthis. Alternatively, you can create a private server with chat rooms for various areas of worship and then post pictures/gifs and write prayers there.

With Discord altars, you can write messages to your deities, send them pictures, links to articles or books about them, as well as send them offerings of your creations. It’s a great way to have a massive private or shared space dedicated to your deity.

Further, you can add Discord bots that can do divination for you, as suggested by @lyresstrings in this post, such as a pendulumn bot, a daily tarot bot, or a horoscope bot. There’s even one that states the current moon phase!

Notes App

In the standard Notes app you can create folders for specific deities, and inside each folder, add notes daily, with images, links, song names and lists of correspondences to that deity. Further, you can write letters to your deity within the notes app, as well as intentions, wishes, and things you’re greatful for.

A great feature of this app is that you can actually lock your notes with a password just incase you’re worried about someone going through your digital altar.

This one is a good option to use in conjunction with a Collage altar if you make it your phone background.

Pinterest Shuffles

Pinterest Shuffles is a sister app of Pinterest, but instead of boards, it’s like scrapbooking. It’s an amazing tool for creative expression with a similar vibe to what Polyvore used to be.

The altars you can make with this are similar in concept to collage altars but the uses are specific to phones, meaning you can only make phone wallpaper images. With Shuffles, you can incorporate images directly from your Pinterest boards, which is great if you already have a deity board and want to condense it into a single image to set your wallpaper.

You can add text with intentions and prayers, or you can just use symbols of your deity of choice. I’d suggest making multiple of these, all with different intentions, so you can change your wallpaper based on what you’re asking of the deity for that day and worship on-the-go just by looking at your lock screen.

I made one as an example which you can view here. This is currently my home screen wallpaper! I added symbols of Saturn such as a clock, skeleton, herbs, capricorn, the world tarot card, the shrine of Saturn in italy, a crow, the number 3, karma, saturn-related texts, and my favourite images of Saturn.

Social Media Altars

Tumblr Blogs

This is probably the most common digital altar, mainly because of the massive witchcraft presence on Tumblr, and the ability to make multiple secondary blogs for each deity.

You can reblog general posts that remind you of your deity, images, gifs, spells, associations, prayers, emoji spells and more. However, are often considered to be more shrine-like activities. You can turn it into an altar by creating posts with digital offerings such as art and collages captioned with text spells, emoji spells, or prayers/worships (as inspired by @crazyskirtlady), or write poems for your deity.

Blogs are totally customisable, and you can change the designs with pictures, music, fonts and more. One important thing to note with secondary blogs is that you cannot initiate social functions like DMs, comments, even following and liking, and you can never change your secondary blog into a primary blog (trust me, I’ve tried. I made the mistake of making this account a secondary blog, now I can’t interact with any of you unless you reach out first).

The tagging system is a little weak though, and it can be difficult to search through all your posts and reblogs, so I suggest if there’s anything you want to keep track of, you have a separate space for it, such as on Notion.

Pinterest Boards

With Pinterest, you can create multiple boards for different deities or spirits, adding images that remind you of those beings from what others have posted. Finding inspiration is super simple! You can add images of representations of your deity, like food, clothes, crystals, art, sculptures, elements, animals, objects and more.

Instagram

In the same sense as creating a Pinterest board, you can dedicate an entire Instagram account to your deity. You don’t have to follow anyone, and can keep it on private, or you can share it publicly. You can post your offerings, photos of things you come across in every-day life like images of the sun, the ocean, trees, plants, bugs and more.

Be careful with this option, however, as you can’t just download photos from Pinterest and post them without credit. This option is more appropriate for art you’ve created yourself and documenting your experiences with captions, poems, emojis, short letters, gratitudes, and intentions.

Musical/Playlist Altars

Spotify

One post by @asatroende got me thinking about how apps like Spotify can be used as digital altars by creating playlists with songs you associate with a deity as a form of prayer. Some examples other than normal music includes subliminals, podcasts, instrumentals, and white noise sounds. If you add a short ambient candle sound in the middle of the playlist, this can aid in visualising a candle, making your prayer or offering, then it

You can add a picture of your deity as the album cover and add an intention or emoji spell in the description to customise it further. Spotify also allows you to make folders, and insert multiple playlists within those folders, which is great it you have multiple deities you’d like to make altars for.

An added bonus is that if you have a Notion altar, you can embed this playlist into it!

For my Spotify altar for Saturn, I added Sleeping At Last’s ‘Saturn’ from Atlas I, a 1:24 minute candle sound, then the planetary/space sounds recorded and posted by NASA called ‘Nasa - Saturn’. This way, I can get in the mindset, make my devotional prayer to the candle visualisation, then mediate to the sounds of Saturn for 30 minutes. I used an emoji spell as the description, and used an image of Saturn eclipsing as the cover.

Apple Music

I’m not a user of Apple Music, but I’m sure it can be used in a similar way to Spotify. If you have the free version, you can only add songs that you own to a playlists. To get around this you can use a youtube-to-mp3 converter to get ambient sounds, subliminals and more. However, this isn’t necessary, and you can just include music you own that reminds you of your chosen deity.

Virtual Reality Altars

Oculus

One last idea is if you have the technology and setup for it, you can create an altar in a VR game or space. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any practical examples of this one.

Knightstone Household: Chapter 9, Part 6

Suzanna and Pollock called Adam and Silas out of the office to open some more gifts.

Adam: Pol, what happened to your costume

Pollock: Not know

Suzanna: He wanted to get in his overalls after his bath. We’ve already taken the family photo

With gifts to each other out of the way the family examine what Father Winter has left for them. Pollock gets a Blarfy, Silas gets a model train, Adam got a common gem and Suzanna got a painting. It’s like Father Winter doesn’t know Suzanna is the one collecting gems and Adam is the one who likes fine art, weird.

Pollock: Mummy, can we book

Suzanna: You want a book

Pollock: I lo books

Silas: Can I listen to Mummy

Suzanna: I guess we’re reading a book then. Let’s go in the lounge, it’ll be comfier than the table

The trio move to the lounge and Pollock grabs the spot beside Suzanna.

Suzanna: Okay let’s see. This one is about a train

Pollock: Does train have name

Suzanna: They just call it the engine

Silas: We should call it something cool like... Harold

Suzanna: What do you think Pollock

Pollock: Yes to Silas

So Suzanna reads them the story doing her best to substitute in Harold for engine whenever she can.

After the story Silas jumps online to play with Ruth and Tyree.

Suzanna: Now Pollock, did I see you hit Sydney today

Pollock: No Mummy

Suzanna sighs. She did see it which means it’s likely Pollock is an aggressive toddler. They’ll have to find some way to channel that before he ends up a hot head like Adam.

Suzanna: Want to play for a bit Moondust?

Pollock: Yes Mummy

It seems Suzanna decides the best spot to play is right in front of the TV that Silas is trying to use...

Silas: Do you have to play right there

Suzanna: I would move but I can’t find your brother

Katherine: He’s on your back Suzie. Die, clay, die!

Suzanna: Oh there you are

Pollock: *giggles*

Suzanna: Shall we fly like a rocket ship huh? Zoom

Silas: Stay on the right please Mummy. My character is on the left

At dinner Pollock finally gets his serving of the grand meal while the rest of the household has some fish and chips.

Adam: Silas are you alright? You look a bit pale

Silas: My stomach doesn’t feel good

Suzanna: Ethelyn was saying she felt sick, maybe he got the bug off her

Adam: Yeah that would- Pollock! Do you have to spill so much. Try to eat over your plate

Pollock: I do

Silas: Mummy can I stay home from school tomorrow

Suzanna: I’m not sure the mod lets you do that

Silas: Can’t you let me do that

Adam: Silas we both have work tomorrow and your brother will be going to daycare. There’ll be no one here to watch you so you’ll have to go to school

Pollock: *thinking to himself* I made a pretty mess

While Adam and Suzanna take care of the dishes the boys nap on the couches, not quite ready for Winterfest to end.

Adam: Did we do Winterfest right then

Suzanna: There is one more thing... mistletoe

Adam: And it’s a tradition to kiss under it?

Suzanna: Yep. Can’t remember why but it is

Adam: Humans and their nonsense. Come on then Starlight

The two kiss and feel their hearts flutter. It's one of those times they both feel grateful to have found each other on this lump of rock.

Suzanna: Think we could have a quick jaunt upstairs before the boys wake up from their naps

Adam: Oh absolutely

Heading back downstairs Adam starts a TV workout while Suzanna shepherds the kids to bed. Pollock is keen for another story so Suzanna reads to him while Silas falls asleep quickly with his tummy bug. Once Pollock is snoring Suzanna tucks her two sons in and is about to leave the room when she remembers the monster under the bed. She’s not too sure if Silas needs to see her spray it but she gives a precautionary spray just in case.

Early MCYTblr Interviews: conarcoin

today's interviewee is conarcoin, runner in the 2020 MCYTblr elections, founder of gay castle, mod on the mcytblr-confessions blog, and MCYTblr veteran! below is a transcript of the questions and answers.

Q: You’ve been in MCYTblr for a long time, and participated in a lot of MCYTblr events, so let’s work our way through them. Can you tell me a bit about what 2020-2021 MCYTblr was like for you, or anything that immediately comes to mind when you think of it?

A: 2020-2021 MCYTblr was a shithole, but it was a shithole I made some really good friends in and I don't regret that period at all. I regret some stupid posts I made, sure, but overall? Nah. 2020 MCYTblr was always filled with drama as it was a transitional period - it was primarily made up of what we now call "truthers" and the scattered remnants of SMPblr, and that sort of caused a culture clash. I'm immediately reminded of the time I got into a huge drama for having the url "transtubbo" in 2020, which one ex-SMPblr user was not fond of. Also a lot of posts made by straight up weirdos like that one infamous "sex god whore" post.

(the url "transtubbo" was not a truthing thing, but a DSMP thing, but this was a time when truthers were still everywhere in MCYTblr and the divide between RP and real life wasn't as clear, which is how I ended up in hot water)

Q: I understand that you started and ran the “gay castle” discord server. Why was it created? What was your experience running it?

A: Gay Castle's still alive and well after 3 years. Me and a friend made the server in September 2020 due to being tired of the drama in another server we were in called Sleepyheads. It's a personal friend server, so we just invited people we thought were chill to hang out and have some laughs. I honestly would call Gay Castle my internet family, they're a wild bunch and we've had so many great times over the past 3 years.

Q: What was it like running the mcytblr-confessions blog? Do any confessions stand out to you from memory?

A: mcytblr-confessions is the child of me and like 10 or so other members of Gay Castle. The experience is mostly mundane, just queueing and deleting asks. We do get a lot of asks that get deleted due to breaking the rules and such, but it hasn't been particularly drama-filled or anything. There's way too many confessions that stand out to me, but personal favorites of mine will always include the Foolish peas anon, the Highcraft church anon, and the one about AustinShow calling anon Greg instead of their actual name.

Q: If my memory serves, you ran in the October 2020 MCYTblr elections. Who did you run as? What was your experience being a part of it?

A: I did, alongside a friend at the time who went by Fakenoblade. I don't remember too many details from that period of time. We ran as "Potato2020" and didn't get very far but we had fun. Cecilia (bless her heart, we're still mutuals even though we don't talk often) can do a really good Technoblade impression, so in call we had her say some funny lines that we edited into a promotional campaign video. Fun stuff.

Q: Are there any other events that stand out to you?

A: The day a bunch of content creators joined in 2021, mostly smaller ones. That was around the same time I became friends with Erin (@itselectralive), who is still one of my closest friends to this day and an absolute sweetheart. She got me onto a SMP she helped run called Balls SMP, which crashed and burned, but I had fun and met some cool people.

Q: Do you remember any of the main discourses/dramas that went through the community?

A: Apologist discourse, obviously. I didn't engage with it - I honestly didn't care for either c!Tommy or c!Dream - but it's hard to avoid it. Shipping discourse and boundary discourse. Honestly, I can't remember anything more specific besides the more general dramas.

Q: What do you remember most fondly from that time?

A: Honestly? Just early Gay Castle and also liveblogging the L'Manberg Election. That night was so much fun, one of the most vivid memories of that time period I have.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A: You guys should watch SMPLive. Not really, it's aged like piss and several creators ended up being freaks but it's still got a lot of funny jokes and interesting lore (believe it or not). From what I have seen, its fandom is the root of a lot of MCYT fandom's most obnoxious behaviors, but the people who are left and still care about it are really cool. It turned 5 this month!

Koi continues trotting along her path forward, weaving through the tall grass in almost a serpentine fashion. Koi: Fish taste, like most meats... Can greatly depend on how it's prepared! Is it cooked? How is it cooked? Is it being served raw like sushi? Or are you eating it out of a river with no seasoning? Speaking of seasons, sometimes the time of year matters! In some pokemon species, even the gender of the fish can change the taste!

Koi hops up a bit onto a rock, looking proud of all her various fish flavor knowledge. This woman has eaten a lot of fish and that's.. cool? Maybe to her anyways. Koi looks back at the other pokemon, realizing that she had been boasting about fish a little too much. A little too prideful. She needed to chill out a bit, she was trying to get out and be social again after all.. Koi flashes a smile Koi: BUT... In this case. I'll humor it, specifically with my recent Finneon catch... Koi: It was a male finneon, you can tell their gender apart by their bottom lobe on their tail fin! Koi scrunches her nose a bit with a squamp noise Koi: But since it was male... it lacked some juiciness. They tend to be more stringy and bland... But not entirely devoid of flavor. Koi: I would describe a typical male Finneon's flavor... during this time of year.... as more... bitter. They start off bitter and stringy... but become a bit more chunky with a slight tang as the winter approaches! Nothing too fancy, compared to what a prime female finneon's taste is... but food is food! Koi: I bet if I had a sauce it would've tasted better.... but sometimes! You just have to eat a fish raw like the way mother nature intended!..... even if it means sacrificing flavor...

Heads up: these movies contain death, illness, animal cruelty, arguable body horror, violence, fighting among friends, swearing, and trauma.

As a Caregiver

She comes off as extremely tough, but she’s always looking out for you. Anytime you’re upset or scared or even just feeling off, she’s there to help you.

She can project her memories so you can see them, and she often pulls up memories of times when you were playing with her.

Nebula has developed a high pain tolerance in regards to her body mods, but when she’s regressed she can’t ignore the discomfort as easily. As a result, she cries quite a lot.

She HATES losing. It’s best not to play competitive games with her at all, because any loss results in either an aggressive tantrum or hours of sobbing.

When she’s upset, one of the best ways to help her is to offer her yaro root. It’s one of her favorite foods and it can sometimes help her calm down.

She can’t stand any kind of compliments. References to her appearance make her think of what Thanos did to her. Praise of anything she does reminds her of her time serving him. No matter how well-intentioned the compliment, it’s going to upset her.

To literally everyone’s surprise, she prefers to be hugged. She loves physical contact and feeling like others care enough to ignore her modifications.

• Akito and An have a friendly rivalry going on where they compete in the smallest of things (opening the door for the other, racing to Weekend Garage when they get out of school, who comes up with the best date night idea, etc.)

• Honami, Emu, and Ena still get together to make art. Honami has slowly been improving because of this, but she still only really feels comfortable doing it with them.

• Anytime he knows Tsukasa will end up home alone, Rui will stay over. He knows it bothers Tsukasa more than he'll ever admit.

• Emu can easily lift and carry Nene, but when it comes to Rui and Tsukasa she can lift them, but due to their height difference, both of them can still touch the floor (Tsukasa's shoes will be grazing the floor, while Rui will just be on his tip toes). Carrying them is awkward since they're also walking. The only time she can lift (and potentially carry) them up is either: when she arches her back backwards or whenever she's holding them bridal style.

• Minori admitted that the show she put on with Airi, Shizuku, Miku and Rin (from the main storyline) was not only meant to get Haruka to consider becoming an idol again, and potentially serve as a last look from the stage as everyone's light sticks turned blue if she decided not to, but an actual confession of her feelings for Haruka. They started dating immediately after that.

• Everyone assumed Akito and Toya were dating since before VBS formed, they weren't.

• Rui and Nene have the keys for each other's houses.

• Rui was not happy when he was outvoted when it came to deciding whether or not WxS should cover PoPiPo (yes, this is me manifesting it, as 3DMV specifically, I think it'd be funny)

• Tsukasa leads his fellow unit leaders in a mandatory Arts and Crafts day. No one knows why it's mandatory, he just said it was.

• Anytime a dog is their path, Akito will use Toya as a shield until it passes them or they pass it. Toya allows it to happen.

• Emu made Nene a wonky Robo Nene out of clay. In return, Nene made Emu wonky WxS figurines out of clay. Emu uses the clay figures whenever she's visually sharing an idea for a show.

• Rui has definitely tried to reverse Uno his way out of punishment whenever An caught him. An carries around her own Uno reverse card because of this.

• it's commonly agreed that, if any combination of the units go the PXL, they won't go on a ride if Tsukasa, Rui and Emu are all going on it together. Lesson learned from the time someone joined them on the teacup ride and they insisted on going faster. Individually, it's fine, but together they tend to form a mind link and share a single brain cell. Nene is the safest option (or so they think, she's just waiting for the right time to strike :))

I have worked at Starbucks for over 2 years now and I make the chalkboard signs for my store. While searching for inspiration on Pinterest, I discovered that someone made a Stranger Things chalkboard designating different drinks to different characters. While the artwork was great, the drinks just didn't match according to my opinion so I wanted to make my own. Without further ado, a baristas guide to Stranger Things drinks:

- Steve Harrington: We're starting off with one of the more simple to order drinks. There's no mods or alternatives, just a pure, sweet drink. Steve is a Caramel Ribbon Crunch. He's layered and multifaceted the same way the drink has separate layers. He's sweet, sometimes too sweet for his own good, but he's cool as ice. Served drizzled and well topped (if you know what I mean 😉)

-Eddie Munson: My best friend Maya works with me and introduced me to this drink and I can't think of anything better for Eddie. You get a cup of lemonade, add some ice, pour a blonde espresso shot on top, and voila: The Cigarette Butt. It's got a sweetish smokey flavor, a little sour, a little weird. People either love it or hate it without giving it a try.

-Nancy Wheeler: I wanted to do something sensible for Nancy but something that would also be strong for a badass like Nancy. We often say that Iced Americanos are the hot girl drink so I knew I wanted it to be and Iced Americano. As for the extras, I wanted it to be blonde ristretto. Blonde Ristretto shots are the BEST kinda shots so it fits one of the best characters. As for cream: Almond Milk. She's giving lactose intolerant but in a "I prefer almond milk to soy milk" kinda way. She's not pretentious about it, but maybe a little.

-Robin Buckley: I was going back and forth with Robin. I had multiple ideas but narrowed it down to two. Number 1. Iced Vanilla Matcha with coconut milk OR Number 2. An Iced Chai with brown sugar syrup and oat milk. Either way, both scream Queer and Quirky. I also get a sort of library soft vibe from her. I'm picturing tans and old books, soft pastels, those kinda things. Arguably that's more a Nancy vibe as well but Robin is light academia and Nancy is dark.

- Jonathan Byers: This is a man that listens to good music and spends his day taking photographs and getting high. He's a sweater and slacks, a wallflower, the quiet calm in a chaotic storm. He's a London Fog, specifically with soy milk. Underappreciated and sometimes forgotten, this is a true pillar in every way. Teas have always been there and always will be, much like the steady reliability of Jonathan. The flavors are gentle and when paired with the vanilla it creates something complex and delightful.

- Argyle: This brochacho does NOT need coffee. He's bright and colorful, slightly overwhelming at times, but full of zest. When thinking of him, I wanted to choose the brightest, most colorful drink I could. He's a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade with peach juice and pineapple pieces. This drink is the Starbucks ocean of flavor, but the pineapple comes freeze dried in a bag. Remember: Try before you deny.

- Hopper: I was going to leave this as just the Fruity Six, but I can't resist. Hopper is the McDonald's Dad. Hopper is a cup of black coffee.

Fic under the cut! So skip my cheese if you just want that, but...Gore means a lot to me. I downloaded him almost a year ago, and he led me to meet so many amazing friends. I told goredev (my buddy), that Gore opened the door and I stepped through. I stepped into a better chapter for myself. Because of a Skyrim mod? Yes!

So thank you Hayd for making Gore, but also being my friend. And thanks to all the friends that encouraged me to keep writing, and to keep going. I love you all, and I love YOU random reader. So please enjoy! <3

The wind rustled the leaves on the ground, the cool autumn air grazed Samhain’s face. She breathed in the crisp air. It was a surprisingly nice day. Gore began messing with their tent, quietly humming to himself. Meeko came up to Samhain with the stick he had been playing fetch with, she wrestled it from his mouth. Giggling all the while, before throwing it again. She looked at Gore, happiness swelling in her chest at the peace of the scene.

“Need anything?” Samhain leaned down to Gore.

“Not right now, you think the food’s almost done? I’m starving, blood.” He looked up at her. She couldn’t miss the way the corners of his mouth turned upwards when he saw her. Some days she swore her cheeks hurt from how often she smiled.

She walked over to the cooking pot, “About, from the looks of it.”

“Think it’s going to be a cold night?” Gore stood up and walked over.

“Not with our own portable hearth!” Her voice got louder in surprise when Meeko jumped up on her.

“Our? I thought he was mine!” He joked, crossing his arms.

Samhain pouted, “You're his favorite, anyone could see it. Lemme me be his favorite this once!” She grabbed the hound’s paws, pretending to dance. “Maybe you're jealous.”

“Yeah, yeah sure I am.” He couldn’t sound more sarcastic. He checked on the food, deciding it was done, and silently served it. Most nights they ate in silence, just enjoying the company of each other and nature. Gore occasionally sneaks bites to Meeko, trying to curry favor. Samhain noticed of course, but never said anything. Samhain looked over the trees, the sky was a beautiful array of colors. Gore noticed her looking up and did as well, seeing the splays of orange and red. Somehow mixing into a purple. “I’ll never get tired of it, or at least I hope I don’t.”

“There was so much I took for granted.” Her smile was solemn. “I didn’t even know.”

He looked at her, seeing the last bit of sunlight dance over her features. “We have so many sunsets, and sunrises to look forward to.” He lowered his voice, “I’m glad I get to see them with you.”

She looked at him too, “I’m glad I let you come with me.” It was partially a joke.

“What, you weren’t going to?” He tilted his head, raising a brow.

She chuckled, “No. I-” She looked at the ground instead, “I thought being free meant being alone. Besides I figured you’d leave on your own once you got on your feet. I always expected the worst.” She sighed.

“I get it. For what it’s worth, I didn’t expect to…fall in love. With you, with life, and myself. I don’t think I could ever repay you for that.” He looked at the same patch of dirt she did, “Thank you.” He whispered.

Her smile went from sad to happy as she looked at him, “No need to thank me. You helped me too, Gore.”

He shook his head, “Sure, what am I your knight in…well dull armor.” He looked over to his plate. “Maybe I should polish it.”

“Nothing like that.” She giggled, “We just helped each other. Like you said.”

“Right.” He got up and grabbed her bowl. “I have first watch.”

“You always do.”

He laughed, “I do.”

She stared at the ceiling of the tent, thinking about what he had said. Did he really not know how much he helped her too? A thought popped in her head, prompting her to look for her journal. Sure enough. Samhain sat up, giving up on sleep. There was too much in her mind now to do so. Meeko instantly noticed, running over to the tent. Gore watched her open the tent flap, “Can't sleep?” He spoke quietly.

She pet the hound which had laid his head on her lap, smiling to herself, “No. I'm just excited.”

“For what?” Gore raised a brow.

“Tomorrow…” Her smile grew wider, “You probably don't remember, but it's the day we met. Or close enough.”

“Oh, I didn't realize. Has it really been that long?” He decided to sit in the tent with her, also petting the dog.

“Yep! I didn't have anything planned. Just well…can I be mushy?” She looked at him shyly. “I was thinking about what you said, or rather what you didn’t.”

“When aren't you?” He joked, trying not to seem nervous, not sure where this was going.

“I'm proud of you, and proud to have met you. I'm glad I found you in that bear trap.” She laughed.

He looked away, not really expecting it. He actually knew she meant it, “Do you think I've changed?”

She nodded, realizing he wasn't looking at her she spoke instead, “You've told me that you're just one mortal man. An ant in the big picture, but Gore?” She reached out a hand to make him look at her, “I know I helped you, that I'm partially why you do better. Of course it was you who took the steps, I just opened the door. But what I'm trying to say is, thank you. For every step I helped you take, you helped me make two.”

He furrowed his brow slightly, his eyes went soft. “Sam…”

“You kept me moving. I had something to fight for.” She exhaled, “We have something to fight for. We fight so that one day we'll have peace. Together we live. How could I not be thankful? How could I not love you?” She straightened her back, “So, thank you, Gore.”

He smiled at her, “I know if you said all that to me a year ago I wouldn't have believed you. Now I know better.” He ran his hand down Meeko until he found her hand, “Thank you for being patient.”

“I could say the same for you.” She moved her hand to intertwine her fingers with his, “Of course you’ve changed. You’ve grown.” She leaned in, “One day we won’t have fleeting moments of respite, but rather it’ll be our new normal. I promise you.”

He took a deep breath, a part of him didn’t want to believe it. However, the way she spoke, and the look in her eyes soothed his racing heart. “Who cares about watch? I have my family all here.”

“I love you too.”

im agender and butch but i feel like... because im black i dont have the same access to androgyny and masculinity that other people do. the image of butchness or androgyny i see is always light skinned and fine haired and im just not that. it makes me feel like im never going to be read the way i want to or taken seriously as a gnc person. makes me really uncomfortable to go out

I'm going to answer this and will tell you first up that I'm white. My wife/spouse mod horseshoe is Black and has very similar experiences and feelings. when I saw your ask I right away thought of her and showed her, asked if she wanted to answer. She told me she doesn't know how she can help you when she hasn't figured it out either.

So I will tell you that one, you are not alone. Two, I will answer you similar to how I support her. and three, she is consulting on this ask (as she does on many advice asks, in fact!)

I'm sorry you're going through this, and especially that it's affecting your comfort in going out and being around people.

One thing I have done to try to help is find other darkskin Black folks that are doing gender in similar ways to her, on the internet. Just finding images of people who are similar I hope helps. I'm not particular about what exactly their identities are, just going for style and vibes. Lemme grab some (sorry it's leaning on instagram just bc it's easier for me to search accounts i follow there haha but I swear there are cool black gendery people everywhere, i'm sure you know this)

my point here is that there ARE people out there doing androgyny, doing gender fun stuff and are Black and darkskin. maybe the people i'm recommending here aren't your vibe or style and that's totally fine, there are a lot of ways to be! i hope these can serve as some sort of inspiration for you. a reminder that gender diversity and androgyny exists and is possible for black people, that there are thriving communities and you have all sorts of options out there for you. also, remember that there are many ways to be androgynous, to be agender. maybe you're more a dapper butch, maybe more a sporty stud, maybe a skate style street style guy, maybe more a crunchy granola hiking outdoorsy look, maybe workwear and denim are more your speed, maybe you're a cozy dude who likes sweats and casual clothes, maybe you like bright colors and patterns, maybe you're into alt and goth styles, maybe you feel more comfortable in vintage and retro stuff. i promise that there is a way for you to look hot and feel comfortable in yourself and people will see your fabulous Black gender noncomforming self.

If you're into podcasts I recommend genderreveal by tuck woodstock- you can skip around and just listen to the episodes that interest you. I'm listening in chronological order because I kinda like going through time and seeing the development of things but you absolutely do not have to. There's a lot of episodes out, they've been doing it for a couple years now! there are plenty of interviews with black people of all gender varieties talking about their experiences and lives

i think. what's hard is that you can’t control how other people see you. you've got to come to terms with this. so you're most likely always going to have people not getting you, not understanding your deal (whether that's gender or something else). there's no foolproof way to get out of it or avoid it, no way to be 100% sure people will always gender you right or treat you right. this is not to say that you will never have people who get you, you certainly will and i wish that for you! i absolutely recommend you surround yourself with people you are supported by and who see you. but i'm not gonna tell you like "fuck what people think, do whatever you want" because i know it's not that easy ! trust your judgement, and trust your gut. all you can do is try to balance finding what makes you feel comfortable and what feels right to you with what feels safe. when you are feeling comfortable, it will help you to become confident. when you are confident and self-assured in who you are, what other people think of you and how they see you will not affect you so much. also, you deserve to be seen and gendered the way you want to be! i'm sorry it feels like it's not possible for you. I believe that it is possible, and i wish it for you soon!!

maybe you want to consider hrt, maybe top surgery, maybe try doing drag or drag makeup. experimentation is a huge thing and i can't recommend it enough. try practicing and experiencing with different styles, gender presentation, clothes, mannerisms, hair makeup jewelry whatever. you can listen to your feelings and your body and reflect on how you like it, see if it feels right. i recommend seeking out the things that make you feel comfortable in your body, find what makes you feel like yourself, and the androgyny and butchness (or whatever presentation you seek) will follow naturally.
