Picked my Investigations playthrough up again and just finished Turnabout Reminiscence! Solid case, the logic mechanic works very well in that one.
Anyways Calisto Yew has done many wrongs but at least she had fun while doing it, and with that kind of can-do attitude I really can't help but like her:-)

Ace Attorney, Steel Samuri AU
This is a re-telling of the AA story but with SI-FI elements based off Steel Samuri.
Since there isn't much Steel Samuri lore in AA, I'm going to have to make some up!
---
Long ago there was an old race of aliens, they don't really matter to the story but what does matter is the fact that they made the Samurai Suits. The Samurai Suits were left on earth for reasons and now new aliens are coming to feed of the power of the suits and earth by proxy. So, The Samuri have to rise to face these new threats, face hardships and accidently become celebrities.
Tumblr media
Poor Greggy, he gets zero hours of sleep and managed to acquire a little baby who is probably a little alien. Becoming one of the few people capable of defending earth was a terrible choice for his health. The Steel Samuri is world famous and so Gregory has to also deal with hiding his identity, Clark Kent but with 1000x more walking disaster energy.
---
Fast Forward to Mileā€™s middle school days, guess which kid finds a Samuri Suit? Well, he isn't the only one who finds a Suit! Meet the Five Signal Samuri!
Red, The Brains (Miles Edgeworth)
Orange, The Jokester (Larry Butz)
Blue, The Second in Command (Phoenix Wright)
Pink, The Heart (Maya Fay)
Purple, The Leader (Mia Fay)
They have no clue about each other identities, even the sisters but they are all very close friends! They go on wacky adventures together and learn valuable lessons with occasional help for the older Samurai.
Tumblr media
Oh dear, don't forget the Karma Samurai, he hates it when people don't give him attention. Can you guess who it is? (Manfred, we all know itā€™s Manfred)
Things go wrong when the Steel Samurai realizes that the Karma Samurai is faking monster attacks for fame. The Karma Samurai doesnā€™t want his secret told to the others so he attacks the Steel Samurai and loses, badly. The Steel Samurai thinks he killed the Karma Samurai and leaves, but shock Manfred is not dead. Karma heads back to Germany and licks his wounds and focuses on his lawyer career and child. Then Manfred meets Gregory, the defense attorney and feels a odd sense of DeJa'Vu.
Note, The Steel Samurai dose not tell the others what happened with the Karma Samurai because they are already traumatized enough and some of them really looked up to Karma.
Back in court Manfred gets the plenty commits DL-6.
While later he realizes that Gregory was the steel Samurai because of very specific scars listed in his autopsy report. Soon after Miles moves in with the Von Karmas he realizes Miles is the red signal Samurai because of the boys mannerisms and the fact that the red just showed up in Germany.
Tumblr media
Miles isn't having a good time, Manfred revels himself to be the Karma Samuri and lies that the Steel Samurai attacked him because he was too popular (Miles doesn't know his dad is/was the Steel Samurai). Also Manfred says he was crippled by the Steel Samurai, which he why he doesn't fight any more (Actually because of the DL-6 Bullet) So now Miles is being trained as a Samurai and Prosecutor. Franziska is also being trained to take up the Karma Samurai mantel one day, they go flying togther a lot.
Tumblr media
Nothing much changes in the Daliah/Early Ace Attorney area expect Mia is even more stressed because she still has to manage the Signal Samurai, minus the only other one with common sense. Oh and the Signal Samurai are now Earth's main protection since Karma and Steel disappeared.
Unfortunately Mia would still die since she didn't have her suit, but her chase would be much easier to solve since she knocked out most of Red White's teeth, and nearly broke his jaw form a single punch. Red White had surprise and a weapon is the main argument for why he could win but there is a strong argument that Mia should have survived.
At the end of Turnabout Goodbyes, after Manfred has all is lies exposed, he dawns his Karma Samurai suit on last time to try and tries to destroy the courthouse and probably the city. Unfortunately for him he transformed in front of ALL OF THE SIGNAL SAMURAI! Manfred doesn't stand a chance, especially with their teamwork being on point for the trial. After Manfred is dealt with the Signal Samurai have a moment to process all the identity reveals that just happened.
They are all upset, excited and shocked to find out the truth but resolve to make themselves a proper team again, even without Mia. Of course, after taking that picture, Mia reminds them that she is really gone.
That's all I got for now, feel free to ask me anything if you have questions. <3

Your First Kiss With Them: Prosecutors Edition
A lovely anon requested first kiss headcanons with both defense lawyers and prosecutors, so I'm just gonna do it in two parts.
Miles Edgeworth
It happens spontaneously with Miles.
You'd gone on a few dates already and he always walks you to your door, like the gentleman he is. When it's time to say goodbye, he lingers for a moment, as if unsure how to proceed. He always flakes in the end, leaving you after an awkward hug and a face that matches the colour of his suit.
One day you're just at his place. It's one of those lazy days when you order takeout and sit at home binging Steel Samurai. A funny scene comes on, something that leaves you both in stitches. It's such a sweet thing, seeing him laugh so earnestly, some colour rising to his face. You lean over and press a kiss to his lips almost instinctively and he freezes for a second and so do you once you realise what you'd done. You apologise awkwardly, fearing you'd crossed a line.
"What are you sorry for? I quite liked that," Miles laughs. "At least one of us has enough courage to act."
Franziska von Karma
Happens in the middle of an argument, most likely. Nothing serious, of course. You're just bickering over something silly and Franziska gets a bit too smug with her comebacks. It annoys you to no end, seeing that smarmy grin on her lovely face. You stand there for a second, feeling an overwhelming urge to-
"Why are you glaring at me like that? Just because I'm right doesn't give you the excuse to act like a f-"
Silence. Cut off by a kiss.
She's completely dumbfounded when you part. It takes her a moment to regain her composure.
"Well," she says eventually. "How foolish of you. Trying to win an argument through such underhanded tactics."
You keep on bickering.
She kisses you not two minutes later when she realises her argument makes no sense and you gain the upper hand.
Diego Armando/Godot
It's the classic scenario with him.
He takes you out for a cup of coffee one rainy afternoon. You sit at the coffee shop for hours, talking and laughing, enjoying each other's company. It's dark outside before you even realise it and he offers to walk you home. The conversation keeps flowing on your way to your place and you feel a pang of sadness when it's time to say your goodbyes. You tell him how much you enjoyed your date and he just casually leans in for a kiss that lasts a bit longer than you'd expected. There's no way your neighbours won't gossip about it tomorrow.
Klavier Gavin
He texts you to wear something warm before your date. You're confused but oblige.
Klav shows up on his bike to pick you up and it all makes sense suddenly. "Come on, Schatzi, I'll show you what a real adrenaline rush feels like."
He's true to his word. He drives you around the city, the cool twilight air rushing past you and you feel more alive than ever.
Eventually, he takes you to his favourite spot, a clearing overlooking the entire city. It feels surreal seeing all the city lights intertwine with the stars above. You sit on his bike while he stands in front of you, talking about something or another. It's hard to say who leans in first, but soon enough you're kissing. It's your first kiss together, then the second and third and fourth...
Simon Blackquill
You're just fooling around at his place.
Simon is a massive tease when he drops his twisted persona. He picks little fights and picks on you just to get you worked up. It's a mixture of endearing and annoying.
He puts on some stupid show you're not interested in one bit. Neither is he, but he'd rather tease you about it than change the channel.
"Give me the remote, Simon."
"Come get it, *insert dumb nickname*"
You try and fail spectacularly. It's just play wrestling, but that doesn't change the fact he's twice your size and can pin you down with one-fifth of his weight. Not that you mind.
You're both giggling breathlessly at this point. "Do you yield, miscreant?" He asks in his scariest prosecutor voice. Dumbass. "I yield, I yield! Just let me go!"
"You must pay the toll first," he deadpans, crossing his arms.
"And what is the toll?"
"A kiss, if I recall correctly."
You buy your freedom and he lets you up, handing you the remote and letting you curl up against him on the sofa.
You pay his toll a few more times during the evening.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi
You're very hesitant to kiss Yuti.
He's a monk. You're not even sure it's allowed.
You start wondering if you'd perhaps been misunderstanding your outings. They were clearly dates, you thought, but then again he could merely see them as you acting as his tour guide to introduce him to your culture. You're very torn on the matter.
On your way home from dinner, you pick up some dessert. Nothing fancy, just cupcakes from a local bakery. You eat them at your place while trying to explain the concept of Netflix and chill to him. It's hard to say if he's scandalized or intrigued.
"These are so good! Would you like a taste?" You ask with your mouth full, perhaps overexaggerating your food-induced moaning.
He gives you one of those sweet, gentle looks he's known for. "Certainly," he says, bridging the gap between you, pressing the softest of kisses to your lips. You're confused by his actions but you'd be lying if you said you minded.
"What was that about?"
"Hm? Oh, that was a pick-up line, was it not? I've heard about those. Although I hear that one is usually used with flavoured lipgloss."
"Yuti, I was just offering you some of my cupcakes."
"Oh," he seems a bit embarrassed now. "Do forgive me then."
"I didn't say I minded. But you can't just go around kissing people like that."
"I'll jot that down in my 'How to act like a native' notebook."
Barok van Zieks
(Heavily inspired by my incessant bugging of @bailey-reaper from my main)
It happens during his University days.
Barok approaches you at a gathering, completely red-faced while Klint and Albert snicker within earshot. He asks you to dance with him in the most roundabout way possible, to the point where you're not quite sure what he's asking of you.
You agree and are surprised at how good of a dancer he is in spite of his initial and apparent awkwardness. Must be those long, elegant legs.
He takes you on a stroll after and you end up alone on a balcony. His initial nervous demeanour slowly melts away, although he's still more than a little shy. You chat away and you even get a laugh out of him at some point. It's one of your personal victories.
It's almost midnight when you are interrupted. "Ah, brother, there you are!" Klint van Zieks suddenly joins you on the balcony. His lips curl in a knowing smirk as he turns to greet you. "Mother has sent me to get you aeons ago! I've been looking for you all over. It's time to leave. Say your goodbyes, and be quick." He leaves then, giving you a moment of privacy.
"I-I, hm, I have really enjoyed your company tonight. Thank you for the dance. I fear I must be going now."
"Wait," you say placing your hand on his arm, half expecting him to recoil. He doesn't. You get on your tip-toes and you can still barely reach his face. Thankfully, he's already slouching. You press a quick, chaste kiss to his lips, hoping no one saw you. "Surely, you wouldn't have left me without a kiss goodnight?"
His face is burning now and he swallows. "Pray, forgive the discourtesy. How careless I am. I'll bear it in mind for next time." With that, he turns and leaves you.
Kazuma Asogi
He walks up to you one day right as you're about to head to your next class, looking pensive and excited at once. You know why, you'd heard the news. Kazuma had been selected for the student exchange and you were thrilled for him - no one deserved it more than he did. You just hoped you did a good job of hiding how sad you were to see him leave regardless.
"I can't leave you here without a proper goodbye. Leave your books, come on." He convinces you to skip the rest of your classes and drags you away on an adventure as he calls it.
You spend the day together, joking around, getting food and window shopping. Finally, you settle under the shade of a tree where you usually met up in secret. He babbles away about the law, the British Empire, his plans for the future.
When he runs out of topics to talk about, he goes quiet, dark eyes searching your face. "Do you know why I stole you away today?" Stole? He's so dramatic. You shake your head. "I don't want you to forget me when I'm gone. Remember this day, and me and this." With that, he gently takes your face in his hands and leans in, claiming your lips in a heated kiss. It's so intense, you feel yourself burning under his touch. Tears prickle your eyes when you part. "I hate to so you go," you whisper weakly and he gives you a sad, understanding smile. "I know. I'm so sorry." You pull him into another kiss, lying down on the grass, hidden by the shade of the tree. You're not about to let him forget you either.

DadWorth AU: Part 3 (Justice For All)
Justice for All has to be one of the angstier parts of this AU, right up there with some ideas I have for Apollo Justice. Especially considering the whole MilesĀ ā€œchooses deathā€ thing. So, letā€™s dive into it!
< Part 2 | Part 4 >
Reunion, and Turnabout
Things fast forward a couple of months after the end of Rise from the Ashes. Gumshoeā€™s been taking care of Kay since Miles kind of fucked off. Heā€™s been doing his best, and so are Sebastian and Klavier -- who have been trying to cheer up their third musketeer ever since they found out what happened. But Kay is miserable.
So, now summer break is here for her, Gumshoe decides to take her out to the mountains for the day to get out in nature and hopefully get her mind off of things. Even if it is for a little while.
However, that plan is totally ruined when he gets a call about a murder nearby. Heā€™s the only detective in the area, so they have to go down to Kurain Village to check it out. And thatā€™s where they run into Phoenix for the first time since the end of Rise. Both he and Kay are not doing well in the aftermath of that case, and neither are really sure what to do around each other. Needless to say, the whole interaction is awkward.
Gumshoe does not pick up on this. He asks Phoenix if he could keep an eye on Kay while he takes care of the investigation. After some hesitation and deliberation, Phoenix agrees. So KayĀ becomes his partner buttonĀ and Phoenix finally get to interact one-on-one with each other during the investigation for Reunion.
This is the first time they get to do this, since they were either with Maya or Ema on previous cases. Itā€™s still a bit awkward, but when Phoenix finds out that sheā€™s studying to be a defense attorney, things get a little bit easier as they find common ground.
Phoenix unknowingly starting to settle into a mentor role? Yes.
Kay is super turned off by Morgan Fey (getting chills up her spine and a faint memory of Dahlia Hawthorne -- she saw the Fawles trial. Phoenix also gets the same vibes from her.) And is surprisingly good with Pearl.
Her reaction to learning that Franziska is the prosecutor for this case catches Phoenixā€™s attention. Kay hasnā€™t heard from Franziska outside of a few text messages to check in on her over the past few months, so the fact that sheā€™s in the country and Kayā€™s only finding out about it now makes her wonder whatā€™s going on.
Kay goes to meet with Maya at the detention center with Phoenix, and kind of gets overly excited when she sees that Maya is channeling Mia because if you remember, she looked up Mia. Mia was an idol for her. So getting to meet her -- even if it is through spirit channeling -- is the highlight of her week.
And then we get to the trial. Phoenix asks Kay if she wants to stand co-counsel and Kay immediately jumps at the chance to say yes. So this is technically her first trial (sheā€™s excited for it, but a little bit sad that Miles isnā€™t there to see her). Franziska, on the other hand, is surprised that Kay is standing at the defenseā€™s bench with Phoenix Wright, leading to a lot of things including seeing Kay as a traitor (reason why will be explained later.)
So, Kay stands in for Pearl as co-counsel. As a result, her spirit channeling abilities are not revealed until much later. In the second trial day, sheā€™s not present due to Gumshoeā€™s intervention and keeping her busy (something which Pearl agrees to so long as Kay and Phoenix get Maya a Not Guilty).
The investigation moments are full of small bonding moments between Phoenix and Kay as they get to know each other a bit better.
So, Team Wright-Faraday get a Not Guilty verdict as promised. Kayā€™s super proud of herself for managing to do this and it puts her on cloud nine. Franziska only believes that Phoenix won because he had a semi-competent co-counsel with him (Aunt Fran starting to show that sheā€™s proud of Kay a little bit, but is still incredibly pissed that she lost.) Overall, she isnā€™t sure how to feel about Kay in that moment, and it all comes down to one simple reason:
This is the first time Kay has smiled in months. Everyone who knows her is relieved to see it back.
After the case is closed, Maya does thank Kay for helping and Kay in return does try to cheer her up after the wholeĀ ā€œmorgan stabbed maya in the backā€ thing starts to settle in. Am I saying Maya and Kay friendship? Maya and Kay friendship. It starts here.
So, things are starting to look a little bit better for Kay.
The Lost Turnabout
Itā€™s not... Kayā€™s not involved in this one. Teenage shenanigans happen here as the new school year at Themis starts up.
The first day of school is always pretty easy, but it gets pretty depressing for Kay when one of her professors decides a good idea to break the ice by talking about some of the more ridiculous things that have happened in court cases. It gets the class laughing, and isnā€™t a bad idea...
Unfortunately for Kay, though, the professor also brings up a certain defense attorney cross-examining a parrot. The memory of that trial brings up a whole lot of feelings for Kay and she just kind of falls quiet for the rest of the day.
But luckily, Klavier and Sebastian have known Kay for a year now, and they realize somethingā€™s wrong. So they (primarily Klavier, since he instigates the whole thing) decide to do something about it and distract her. Here is where teenage shenanigans come about.
Just wholesome fun with what is slowly becoming a favorite chaotic trio that ends with everyone collapsed on a couch with an old movie playing in the background. ...and possibly a few appearances from other characters. Who knows?
Kay only finds out about Phoenixā€™s trial after the fact from Maya, and sheā€™s not sure whether to be impressed that Phoenix managed to do all that with amnesia or laugh about it. She decides to do both.
Turnabout Big Top
It all starts with Phoenix going from ace attorney to ace babysitter as heā€™s in charge of four teenagers and one small child. Over the past few months, heā€™s gotten acquainted with Klavier and Sebastian as well, especially after the trio used the Wright & Co. Law Offices as their own personal hangout spot to get homework done and hide out when needed (thank you Kay).
The only reason Kay is brought on as co-counsel for this case is because a: its winter break so she doesnā€™t have school to worry about and b: the time frame is the same as when Miles was arrested the year prior. If Phoenix is having a rough time, then so is Kay. Especially since this will also be her first birthday since the whole incident. Sheā€™s also at Wright & Co. for the same reason when Maya calls up with the case.
This case is not the best distraction for Kay, but at least its something. Lesson learned: as a lawyer, you gotta take the good with the frustrating. Things get worse with Franziska prosecuting again. Kay still doesnā€™t get whatā€™s up with her and why sheā€™s still getting called a traitor.
The boys are also in on this case because why not, though they donā€™t stand as co-counsel but rather just help with the investigation. Because we all know that Kristoph and Blaise wouldnā€™t agree to them standing on the defenseā€™s side, one more than the other.
Kay openly admitting to getting a headache while trying to figure out what the heck is actually going on during the first trial day. She grew up with the Master of Logic himself, so trying to make sense of this without all the information is making her head run in circles. But sheā€™s not going to give up.
Itā€™s revealed when Franziska confronts Phoenix & Co. outside of the lodging house later that day that the reason Franziska calls Kay a traitor is that she deliberately is siding with the man responsible for Milesā€™sĀ ā€œdeathā€, something that she never thought Kay would do.
Kay never blames Phoenix for what happened to Miles. She mostly blames Gant (and von Karma somewhat) for it. They were the ones who pushed him, not Phoenix. So, when Franziska openly blames Phoenix for what happened, Kay gets pretty pissed.Ā
When Phoenix and Maya continue their investigation, Kay goes to confront Franziska on that matter and just goes off. Months of bottled up emotions just kind of explode outward, and Franziska is the unfortunate target of it all. This blow-up is also the first time that Kay refers to Miles as her dad. Which hits pretty hard. Franziska starts regretting a few choices sheā€™s made today. Klavier and Sebastian pull her away as she starts to break down.
So they just... let her cry it out in the circusā€™s cafeteria. They end up being the ones who find out about the incident with the lion (once Kayā€™s calmed down) rather that Phoenix and Maya. The story has them racing over to them, catching the duo just as theyā€™re about to enter Acroā€™s room and things go about pretty much the same way they do canonically from there.
The next day is a bit hard, and its easy to pick up on the tension between Kay and Franziska here. Taking a page out of the anime, Kay, Klavier, a reluctant Sebastian and Maya recreating the crime for the entire court. She does feel bad about having to indict Acro, though, due to the circumstances surrounding everything.
Kay does a pretty good job, something which Gumshoe relays as a message to her, at the end of the trial, much to her surprise. Who else would be proud of her is something that she wants to know.
Meanwhile, Miles Edgeworth wonders how heā€™s going to tell his daughter that heā€™s still alive upon his return to the country. (and yes, he was the one who told gumshoe to tell kay that he was proud of her)
Farewell, My Turnabout
So, Kay at this point still doesnā€™t know that Miles is alive. He wants to get everything settled before he makes any grand reveals to anyone. Heā€™s also still trying to figure out how to do it since that wasnā€™t supposed to happen. Kay wasnā€™t supposed to think he was dead. He told her that he was leaving, sure, but Kay was also half-asleep when he did. So, misunderstandings~
Meanwhile, Phoenix takes the girls (Maya, Pearl and Kay) to the Hero of Heroes Grand Prix. Kayā€™s gotten decently close to the members of Wright & Co. over the past few months, that much is clear by now.
Kay gets upset about Corridaā€™s murder because ya know. Jamminā€™ Ninja fan. She hopes that Engrade gets locked away for doing it. Maya thinks she just doesnā€™t like the Nickel Samurai, which isnā€™t that far off. Kay just doesnā€™t like Engarde thanks to reading Klavierā€™s tabloid magazines. She never gets to explain the contents of those magazines, though. Phoenix finds out about them later.
Things take a sharp turn when Maya is called to the front desk to answer her ā€œcallā€. Kay goes with Maya because ya know. Buddy system. (ā€girls donā€™t let each other go anywhere alone, nick!ā€ ā€œ*sigh* i will never understand teenagers...ā€)Ā Ā i think. you know. where this about to go--
So, yeah. Kay gets kidnapped alongside Maya. She puts up a pretty decent fight against de Killer (look at the people she was around growing up, Kay probably does know a little self-defense), but in the end, she still getsĀ ā€˜napped. And so, Phoenix has to defend Engarde or the two girls willĀ ā€œdisappearā€.
Things are made worse, as Phoenix is accosted by two teenage boys who canā€™t get in touch with their third musketeer who didnā€™t show up for school that day. Heā€™s just trying to do his job, but Klavier and Sebastian are really stubborn and will not leave him alone.
And everything gets worse when Miles makes his grand revival. And then is made the prosecutor for this case. So, Phoenix is not having a very good week at all.
Phoenix and Gumshoe are doing the best to keep the fact that the girls are being held hostage from Edgeworth and the boys. Emphasis on try. All three know that thereā€™s something going on, but they canā€™t figure out what.
Meanwhile, Kay and Maya are in a wine cellar. Kay has tried several times to break down the door, but it hasnā€™t worked. de Killer took their phones, so they have no way of contacting the outside. Theyā€™re screwed unless they can escape.
Maya realizes that they do have a way to contact the outside and uses her spirit channeling powers to contact Mia, and with Kayā€™s help manages to explain whatā€™s going on and giving a message to Mia to give to Phoenix.
So, Pearl finally reveals her spirit channeling powers. It freaks Phoenix out at first, but he gets over it quickly because at this point, heā€™s kind of used to Fey Family Weirdness.
The first part of the trial goes on as pretty much the same as it did before. Afterwards, Phoenix does his best to keep the fact that the girls are kidnapped from Miles because heā€™s gonna flip the fuck out. And he fails. And Miles kind of does flip out.
So, de Killer and Engarde (more so de Killer because he did his research, he knows the connection with Kay that Edgeworth has) have two pawns to work with and dangle over both the prosecution and defense. And now Edgeworth has two assistants on his side: Sebastian and Klavier, who donā€™t want to see Kay hurt. However, as future prosecutors, they canā€™t do much to help Phoenix. So, they help out with the investigation (and using the excuse as this being extra credit for anyone who asks why there are two teenagers here.)
On the other side, Maya and Kay break out of the room they were locked in thanks to a card Maya finds. Things go about as well as they do canonically, but with more struggle. Kay makes a fucking messĀ trying to defend herself and Maya from de Killer, which will later show the police that something definitely went down here (and concerning the heck out of a good handful of people in the process).
Kay may not know the truth about the Yatagarasu yet, but she sure is acting like the Yatagarasu.
The investigation goes about as well as you expect it to. Klavier and Sebastian are doing their best, but they canā€™t do much since theyā€™re still only students. And Miles is worried as hell for Kay and ends up wanting to tear Engarde apart. Klavier is right to not like Engarde, as was Kay earlier.
When the trial starts up again, you have both the prosecution, the defense and a few members of the gallery nervous as hell. Gumshoe is doing his best to find the girls, but Miles and Phoenix still need to stall for time.
They do their best, but things are going about as well as they do canonically with Edgeworth being more on edge due to Kay being in danger. And the last time he saw her was when he left. So, he wants to be able to reconcile with her.
Things go on much like they do in canon. The note, Gumshoeā€™s accident, etc. Miaā€™s with Kay, doing her best to help, but sheā€™s not sure what more she can do because the girls are weak and tired from being held captive for so long.
More worry on both parts.
When de Killer threatens to kill Maya and Kay when Edgeworth and Phoenix press him and try to get more time, Miles is also there to beg him to leave them alone.Ā This is also the first time that Miles openly refers to Kay as his daughter.
Not much is different there out. They manage to expose Engarde as the asshole that he is, the girls are released and Engarde is declared guilty.
The scene with Franziska at the airport and Phoenix giving Miles the whip takes place a bit earlier, as thatā€™s where Miles goes first before going to meet with Kay. Because heā€™s still trying to figure out how heā€™s going to talk to Kay again.
Phoenix and the others meet Maya and Kay at the hospital (Kay and Maya were held captive without much food or water for about three days, and Kay has a few minor injuries from de Killer, so they do need medical attention). Maya has a tearful reunion with Mia (as channeled by Pearl), and Kay gets tackled by her friends on both sides.
And then Miles Edgeworth walks into the room a short while later and Kay does not know what to say. She thought that he was dead for over a year, and a lot of things start bubbling to the surface. She starts tearing up because she thought she would never see Miles again, and he with her.
As soon as he gets close enough, Kay hugs him and calls him stupid in a couple different ways. Miles accepts it and apologizes for making her worry. He promises not to vanish like that again, and returns the promise that Kay made in part 2: to not keep secrets from her again.
So, what they didnā€™t get at the end of part 2, Miles and Kay finally get at the end of JfA: a chance to actually rebuild and reconcile their relationship without anything getting in the way.
So Justice for All ends on a pretty good note.
That may be the end of Justice for All, but itā€™s not the end of the story. There are still more ripples to come and fun shenanigans.

Mark Forster's role in the Ace Attorney franchise
Okay, first off:
I'm not a fan of Mark Forster's music, please don't take this post the wrong way
There might be some aa trilogy spoilers
Also, I admit this title is pretty bold for what I'm going to say on this topic, but I watch The Voice of Germany with my sister every week and one of the coaches is Mark Forster who I only know like five songs of in total, but his song "Au Revoir" (which is actually a terrible song btw. It's so catchy, I've had it stuck in my head since I woke up this morning and it ruined my day.) kind of reminded me of the whole "Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death." thing, because the only thing I knew about this song was the refrain:
Tumblr media
which would be roughly translated to:
"There is nothing that's holding me back, au revoir / Forget who I was / Forget my name / It will never be the way it was before / I'm off / Au revoir"
But as I looked further into the lyrics I found out there is a "rap part" which tells you about the places the lyrical I will go to when they're away and it contains a passage that adds a beautiful twist to my theory/headcanon (I'm not sure what to call this yet).
Tumblr media
"I'm sitting on the Mayan throne in the jungle / [...] / The phoenix is taking off now"
You see where I'm going with this? I know, it's not Phoenix who's leaving and I know the lyrics refer to the Maya Civilization from Mesoamerica, but I thought it was a funny coincidence, that not only does the word "Phoenix" appear in the lyrics of this song, but so does "Maya".
So when I first saw this part of "Au Revoir", I started imagining how Miles Edgeworth would listen to this song and like dramatically sing along to it and start crying or something, but this only posed another question:
How could this scenario happen? How and why would he even come in contact with this song?
My first guess was, Miles probably went to Germany after he left his note, because he grew up there (I think), when he had been adopted by Manfred von Karma as a child, and he heard the song somewhere in the radio because in Germany they blast Mark Forster's music in almost every public space, so there is no escape from it ever. I tried to find out, during which timespan Miles left America, just to make sure if there was a chance that he actually could have heard it on the radio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Ace Attorney wiki this timespan isn't clearly mentioned, but since the last case (Rise from the Ashes) from the first game is set in February 2017 and Edgeworth returns to America in March 2018 I'm guessing, this is exactly the time window in which he's in Germany* (minus some days/weeks of course, because I don't think he'd just leave on the exact same day he had his last trial in America). *to make this easier for me I'm just assuming he spends the entirety of his travels in Germany
But this brings me to my problem, the German Charts of 2017/2018.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the only songs by Mark Forster that were in the charts while Miles would be in Germany are the ones above. This means that it is highly unlikely that he knew of "Au Revoir" from the radio, because why would they play this old song if they could also play Mark Forster's more recent songs that are popular right now?
But when exactly was "Au Revoir" popular enough to be in the German Charts?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During my research I looked up these years, too, and it came down to 2014 (the year "Au Revoir" was released) and even a year later in 2015. So there is no way he could have known of this song if his most recent stay in Germany was in 2017, right? (I mean, unless the German people he met then, had literally no taste and forced him to listen to it.)
But I have a pretty simple and logical explanation on how he could have still known of this song, even though he probably wouldn't have heard it in Germany in 2017.
I tried really hard, but I couldn't for my life find real data on Mark Forster's demographic, so just believe me if I tell you that his demographic is mostly preteen and teenage girls. Also, it's worth mentioning that Mark Forster's music is pretty much only known in German speaking countries like Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Now, let's take a closer look at the years, in which Au Revoir was most popular: 2014 and 2015
Who could Miles Edgeworth possibly know, who in 2014/2015 is 1. German, 2. a teenager and 3. a girl? The answer is quite obvious:
Tumblr media
His younger sister Franziska von Karma.
Considering that she was either 14 or 15 when "Au Revoir" was released, she fits Mark Forster's demographic perfectly and although I'm not 100% sure if she was in Germany then, I still believe, she must have had at least some connection to Germany in some way, maybe a German friend who she still was in contact with or maybe she had access to German tv, maybe German YouTube channels or social media. And don't get me wrong, I love Franziska von Karma and I wouldn't wish anything bad on her, but at the same time I strongly believe that she'd be the kind of girl who'd have gone through a Mark Forster phase as a teen.
Now remember that I, myself, have a sister. I know what siblings do to annoy each other and I just know from the bottom of my heart that if Franziska really was a fan of Mark Forster's music, she would blast it on any opportunity she'd get. Or she would at least talk about him and his songs with her brother. Believe me. If Franziska really listened to Mark Forster, Miles would have known of him, too. There is literally no other way. (For reference, I know every 1D member's name, birthday and relationship status, although I literally do not care about any of them at all, only because my sister is obsessed with them and talks about them 24/7. Meanwhile the only MCR member I know, is Gerard Way, even though I listen to their music on the daily.)
So here is my conclusion.
Miles Edgeworth definitely listened to "Au Revoir" by Mark Forster on the plane from Japanifornia to Germany and he also definitely cried, after he made sure nobody could see him (especially during the part "Der Phƶnix macht jetz 'n Abflug"/"The phoenix is taking off now"). Also, he probably listened to the song multiple times during his stay in Germany and you literally can't prove me wrong on this. I mean you could try, but I invested way too much of my time in this to actually care about another person's opinion on my shitty headcanon.
Also, the moment Franziska met Phoenix and Maya, her memories vaulted her right back to her Mark Forster phase and her hatred against Phoenix wasn't solely based on the fact that he was accountable for the conviction of her father Manfred von Karma, her hatred was also ignited by the fact that she probably had "Au Revoir" stuck in her head because of these two for the rest of the day and I just know that this must have completely ruined it for her.
Also, unrelated to anything I've said prior:
Klavier Gavin would definitely collaborate with Mark Forster on at least one song and however severe Franziska's Mark Forster phase might have been, I am convinced Klavier would have outdone her by far. I haven't played AJAA yet, but as much as I've gathered from the fandom, he's like a weeaboo but with Germany, I think? I'm absolutely sure, he wouldn't ever miss a chance like this.
Finally, here is the song this whole post is about:

letā€™s talk about the criminal mistreatment of Athena Cykes
Tumblr media
Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies isnā€™t really big on women. Theyā€™re either dead, fully motivated by self-interest, or on the wrong side of the law. And in the wacky world of Ace Attorney, the game seriously lacks in original wacky female characters. And then thereā€™s Athena Cykes; Phoenixā€™s new, cute! protĆ©gĆ© with a brand new skill for some fresh gameplay and a seriously messed up backstory to captivate the player. Hereā€™s the problem: that pretty much sums up Apolloā€™s character and reason for being introduced literally one game prior. So why introduce this new character when she wasnā€™t even needed?
(major spoilers ahead)
Letā€™s start by pointing out that, throughout Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, Athena only handles one case on her own. And that case (Turnabout Storyteller) is a mess, imo. We donā€™t get to investigate as Athena, her skills as a rookie attorney are being constantly diminished by everyone, even her client, and she relies on Blackquill to bail her out when shit hits the fan. In the original trilogy, Maya also helped out Phoenix when in need, but Phoenix was literally the main playable character, having enough cases to redeem himself after stumbling once or twice. Athena is given only one chance throughout the span of two games.
If Athena was the only new character, tackling only one case on her own would be more acceptable because, with the absence of Maya, sheā€™d play the pivotal role of Phoenixā€™s assistant, aiding him. And that would actually be ideal. Imagine Athena being introduced in Dual Destinies as Phoenixā€™s assistant, investigating with him and providing advice during the trials. The game would wrap up nicely by having us explore the Space Centre and have her backstory unravel. Thatā€™s basically the first gameā€™s premise: Maya is introduced in Turnabout Sisters and by Turnabout Goodbyes we explore part of her backstory (mainly Misty Fey going MIA) via Edgeworthā€™s trials.
What really screws up Athenaā€™s chances of succeeding as a new character, are the other new characters, Apollo Justice and Trucy Wright. Apollo Justice was literally supposed to be a reset for the franchise. Bridge to Turnabout wrapped up all the story arcs of the trilogy in such a masterful way that there wasnā€™t anything more for Phoenix and Maya to do. The 7 year time jump and the introduction of Apollo were supposed to kick off a new trilogy and showcase a new era of the law, a time in which the system started failing, despite the fact that it was already messed up. I go into detail about why Apollo Justice failed in this essay no one bothered to read (yea iā€™m bitter, bitch) but basically, to sum up, Capcom didnā€™t have the balls to strip the series of its main character and due to backlash, brought him back one game after.
Tumblr media
I 100% believe that Dual Destinies tries its hardest to be what fans wanted Apollo Justice to be. As a result, it has too much on its plate. Giving Apollo a new backstory, portraying Phoenixā€™s return as an attorney, trying desperately to sell the Dark Age of the Law and repeating ā€˜the end justifies the meansā€™ about a million times, delivering interesting cases with interesting witnesses (at which it fails miserably, imo), all the while introducing Athena and exploring her backstory, which includes the new prosecutor and new detective, whose final twist, although unexpected, doesnā€™t save the game. Thatā€™s a lot, like too, too much.
What was the reason for Athenaā€™s introduction? As I mentioned above, Apollo was literally introduced one game prior to Dual Destinies, providing the writers with countless opportunities for interesting storylines. What we got instead were interesting storylines which were never to be revisited again, e.g. Apollo and Trucy being Thalassa Gramaryeā€™s children, and the jury system. What the fuck. Instead of progressing Apolloā€™s saga as a rookie attorney taken under Phoenixā€™s wing, he gets sidetracked for the sake of Athena, but as we soon find out, that isnā€™t even the case. Actually, Apollo as a new protagonist gets sacrificed for the sake of Athena, and in turn, Athena gets sacrificed for the sake of Apollo being a sidekick. Again, what the fuck.
After Apollo Justice, the games try and fail to course-correct Apolloā€™s character. Dual Destinies tries to shoehorn Apollo and Athenaā€™s backstories into two cases (The Cosmic Turnabout and Turnabout for Tomorrow), while wasting such an opportunity with its first three cases (no, Turnabout Academyā€™s rushed exposition on Athena and Juniperā€™s friendship doesnā€™t count). And Iā€™m being blatantly honest when I say that I literally couldnā€™t give less of a shit about Clay Terran and dArK Apollo with a bandage over his eye. I literally donā€™t care because the game doesnā€™t do the work in order for me to care. It just dumps a bunch of new info on Apollo and Clayā€™s friendship at the beginning of a trial for which there isnā€™t even an investigation. Thatā€™s just lazy. Instead, Iā€™m much more interested as to why the robots at the Space Centre recognize Athena.
Tumblr media
Athenaā€™s backstory, although redundant and painfully familiar, is pretty interesting. Why is it redundant and painfully familiar? Because Maya Fey also lost her mother due to an incident with an upcoming prosecutor and eventually was misled into thinking she was the culprit, the truth being revealed by Phoenix at the end. Despite the similarity, the details surrounding Metis Cykesā€™s murder are so captivating. Aura Blackquill is introduced, a mysteriously sexy tech gyal whose dialogue on Metis seems to suggest that they were romantically involved, Blackquillā€™s imprisonment is explained, thereā€™s hostages involved, and the Phantom is revealed. Turnabout for Tomorrow isnā€™t my favorite case but in terms of setting up Athenaā€™s backstory, it does everything right.
I honestly love Athena. I love that we have another female attorney alongside Mia and Calisto Yew. I love that she introduces psychology into the trials. I love her yellow suit and her narration, and her moon earrings and relentlessly joyful attitude. Sheā€™s such a joy to have around. Thatā€™s why I hate how Dual Destinies handles her character, having Apollo ask her questions on who she is and what she does during The Monstrous Turnaboutā€™s investigation and waiting until Turnabout for Tomorrow to continue her exposition. Instead, Apollo gets most of the attention. If Capcom wanted games 4-6 to be Apolloā€™s trilogy, they shouldā€™ve done that. Not dilute Apollo Justice by including hobo Phoenix, not introduce Athena and have Phoenix return in Dual Destinies, not do anything they did with Spirit of Justice. I really wanted Dual Destinies to be Athenaā€™s game.
Spirit of Justice handles Athena even worse than Dual Destinies. She is quite literally reduced to a side character and, even though we get to play her first solo case, her character gets absolutely zero development. Whereas Phoenix is reunited with Maya and resets the law in a foreign country via a revolution in which Apollo is caught in the centre of, Athena babysits Trucy (another female character who is given nothing to do). Also, Athena being sidetracked, getting turned from a new attorney to just a character without a purpose becomes so obvious when sheā€™s literally rendered obsolete once Maya returns in Turnabout Time Traveler, during which she becomes Trucyā€™s lab rat... ???
Tumblr media
I literally feel bad for Athena because she was created unreasonably but created with care nonetheless. Dual Destinies tackles too many story arcs and themes all at once, and if the writers removed some of them to focus more on Athena instead, she could have been the next Franziska: a young lawyer with drive who rises to the ranks of the best but not without her flaws. But, um, we got an Apollo Justice Lite, instead.

I just finished Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and now that's everyone else's problem (post-game ramblings under the cut)
Investigations 2 is honestly one of the best AA games Iā€™ve watched to date. I say ā€œone ofā€ because thereā€™s of course the Original Ace Attorney, Trials and Tribulations, as well as Rise From the Ashes (which is 7 hours long, she counts as a full game). That being said, none of these had fully inter-connected cases like aai2 has. You canā€™t talk about a single case without it leading into another. Meanwhile, AA1 was just building up Edgeworth and Phoenixā€™s relationship, RFtA was a single case, and T&T had two totally unrelated cases to the main game. None of these had strong themes of family and the parallels of different cast members through that theme, either - while individual characters went through their own arcs, none of these games had every single character dealing with their own qualms of the same theme.
While all of the cases in aai2 fed into its inevitable conclusion, it felt like the first two cases were tedious and almost made me skip to AA5 without looking back. (Logic Chess also seemed like a ridiculous concept and throughout the entire first case I was cackling, but thatā€™s neither here nor there.) As soon as we started our third case and started to lay down the themes of family, parents' love, and following in the footsteps of our fathers, though, I loved every second. Some of my issues with the earlier cases were Justine and Sebastian, but looking back on it their stubbornness (and stupidity, on Sebā€™s part) was necessary to have the last case work so well and hit so hard.
Courtney was weeding out corruption, but by trying to remain impartial to everything she was slightly blinded by it (similar to Franziskaā€™s obsession with perfection, who didnā€™t have as big of a role in this game, but still had a few very powerful lines). Her compassion for her son was really heartwarming, accurate, and really took her character from ā€œgoodā€ to ā€œgreatā€.
Sebastian, though! Who can get through this game without having a total 180 on Sebastian! The best arc behind (and a strong parallel to) Edgeworthā€™s in AA1, imo. A pretentious incompetent teenager trying to act like he owns the world, and then has every foundation heā€™s ever laid be taken out from under him within a matter of hours. While many call Sebastian an idiot, the only one who calls him that to his face is his own father. Many times! You feel for the kid. And then his father commits MANY a crime, and Sebastian tries to stick up for him anyway until his dad turns around and tells him that every single accomplishment heā€™d thought heā€™d earned was given to him. I wonā€™t get into much more detail, but I will say that Edgeworth steps into a father-figure role for Sebastian in a really beautiful way. The Logic Chess after Sebastian has been kidnapped and the courtroom scene as Sebastian takes on Blaise are testaments to this amazing shift in their dynamic.
Simon Keyes was a great villain, his reveal was amazing, and the parallels to Edgeworthā€™s story were just as potent as Sebastianā€™s. The idea of an animal tamer being your big bad because he knows how to manipulate not only animals but humans? Fucking amazing concept. We didnā€™t see his redemption or his evolution into what he became so much as saw him as a conclusion to how everything could have gone wrong with Miles, and (if you wanted to really stretch) Sebastian. In the end, Iā€™m glad he got to have a father figure, even if it was an imprisoned assassin ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
Anyway, Iā€™m pissed we never got an official localization but at this point, I desperately hope we donā€™t. I donā€™t think the Capcom team is going to be able to pull this off as well as the fan translators did, and Iā€™m actually very partial to the fan voice actors. Plus, how the hell are they going to beat the names Justine Courtney and Sebastian DeBeste? Just donā€™t even try, Capcom, keep to your little DGS localizations and cafe arts.
I have more thoughts on the plot and characters like Ray, John, Gregory and others but I feel like none of those are concrete enough to write down at the moment ā€˜cause I just got my second shot for COVID and Iā€™m probably going to take a long nap after I post this. If you wanna talk abt this feel free to ask/message.
tl;dr: I fuckin love this game bro šŸ¤˜šŸ˜”

Note
i forgot to respond earlier but YES if you feel up to ranking the cases you should! :D
i absolutely feel up to it! okay, letā€™s go! below, my rankings for all of the ace attorney cases iā€™ve played so far... please note that these are all subjective opinions and you may highly disagree, but this is how i feel :) please also note that this will contain me crushing hard on a couple of characters but i promise not to get over the top about it.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
The First Turnabout -- 2/10 I literally do not care about this one like, at all. I do like having Mia around, hence why it has 2 points instead of 0. But also itā€™s a Larry case and I really do not like Larry. Plus... everything else. I just donā€™t like it. (And Phoenix having passed the bar exam but not knowing what a cross-examination is, even if itā€™s just for tutorial purposes, drives me up the wall.)
Turnabout Sisters -- 6/10 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA [sobs] This case hurts me. It hurts. Both because of the painful loss of sibling rights and because April May exists. Very different types of hurting, but all the same... Sheā€™s one of the reasons why this case gets points taken off of it. Another reason is that Iā€™m just not huge on how it progresses; Iā€™m never a fan of when Mia has to come in and be likeĀ ā€˜this is what you need to do!ā€™ I like figuring it out myself, yā€™know? But also, heyyyyy, introduction to some characters that are very dear to my heart! Edgeworth time! Fantastic!
Turnabout Samurai -- 5/10 I like Will Powers a lot, and I would kill for Cody, and Penny makes me happy because she has the same name as me, and Dee Vasquez... Wow. Wow. Sheā€™s really something. But the plot is kind of boring and goes on for too long, Wendy Oldbag makes me want to defenestrate myself (especially when she talks to Edgeworth) and Sal Manella fills me with a murderous rage. So this case only gets a 5/10. It would probably get lower, except I really love Edgeworth realizing whatā€™s going on and starting to help out, and the scene at the end... well. Well. Iā€™m sure I donā€™t need to elaborate.
Turnabout Goodbyes -- 10/10 Excellent case. Perfect case. Could not think more highly of it. Yes my lifespan is decreased whenever I see Manfred von Karma but itā€™s okay. I love defending Edgeworth and I love the backstory even though I also hate it, and I love the actual realistic depictions of trauma, and I love cross-examining the parrot, and I love love LOVE the ending, of course, because getting justice has never felt so goddamn satisfying before. Yeah, I think this case is just my absolute favorite (so far).
Rise from the Ashes -- 9/10 This case hurts me deeply for a thousand different reasons. The sibling rights... The REMOVAL of sibling rights... (I cried. I actually cried.) Edgeworth suffering... Itā€™s all so painful but itā€™s so well-written that itā€™s okay. Point taken off because the whole rotating evidence thing kind of annoyed me.Ā ā€˜But isnā€™t that also a mechanic in the Investigations series?ā€™ Yeah, but itā€™s okay when Investigations does it. Donā€™t ask me to elaborate.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
The Lost Turnabout -- 3/10 This case only gets points for Maggey, and also Wellingtonā€™s cool ringtone. Oh, and the line about bananas. You know the one. Otherwise, itā€™s just kind of boring, though I do appreciate that they actually came up with an excuse as to why Phoenix suddenly needs everything explained to him again. Even if that excuse is a bit silly.
Reunion, and Turnabout -- 7/10 Itā€™s not a favorite by any means, but this one is pretty good. Pearl is just baby. The whole Miney sisters thing is deeply upsetting to me, but in a way thatā€™s kind of good. The Hotti Clinic makes me really fucking angry and creeped out, so points taken off for that. Also, Franziska has arrived, and oh boy am I glad to see her!
Turnabout Big Top -- -10000000000000000/10 NO NO NO NO NO. FUCK THIS CASE. I HATE IT SO FUCKING MUCH. I DONā€™T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS ONE. The only good thing in it is how Franziska talks about Miles, because sibling rights are real. But the rest of it? The rest of it can burn.
Farewell, My Turnabout -- 9/10 This is a really good case! I LOVE the twist, I didnā€™t expect it at all, and it was so cool. I also really like Adrian. Shelly de Killer is pretty cool too. And of course, Edgeworth is back! Hallelujah! Franziska getting shot though... :( And having to go to that damn clinic... :((( Oh and also I love Shoe with every fiber of my being.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Turnabout Memories -- 7/10 Ah, another flashback case, and one that doesnā€™t absolutely destroy me emotionally! Mia is here! Phoenix Wright as a sick college student with no common sense is here! Dahlia Hawthorne is here! Itā€™s quite a collection of interesting individuals, and on top of that, itā€™s just a cool case! Even if lovestruck Phoenix makes me feel like hitting someone... Sort of like what it does to Mia...Ā
The Stolen Turnabout -- 6/10 The case itself isnā€™t that good, to be honest. But I would kill for Ron and Desiree DeLite. Theyā€™re so sweet, and Ron is so funny... On the other hand, though, Luke Atmey can go Zvarri himself. I hated him from the very moment he first appeared. What an annoying, fraudulent ass. Also, Godot was there, and I didnā€™t like him, either, even though I hadnā€™t yet seen quite just how bad he can get. It was really nice to see Adrian living her best life, though!
Recipe for Turnabout -- 2/10 I really didnā€™t like this one... I donā€™t want to talk about it... I did like Lisa Basil though. Too bad she wasnā€™t much of a character. Oh, and Viola too. And seeing Maggey again was nice. But those were the only good points in an otherwise horrible case.
Turnabout Beginnings -- 7/10 The case is pretty high quality, but it tormented me. Seeing Edgeworth in that coat... with those sprites, just like von Karmaā€™s... And that one line... I hated every minute of it. It hurt. The only way it couldā€™ve been worse was if von Karma himself had been there, but that gets saved for Investigations. Mia being there again was fun, though. And Dahlia... Wow. Lots going on there. That ending was... a lot. Terry was a creep and I didnā€™t like him, but watching that... Yeah. Yeah. And Diego did not endear himself to me in the slightest.
Bridge to the Turnabout -- 8/10 Too much Godot. Otherwise, this was a really great case. Playing as Edgeworth was so much fun, and Franziska being there too was incredible, and the whole thing tying up all the loose ends was just... so cool. Admittedly, the case itself made me very sad, but... it was so good. So good. I wanted to kill Godot partway through, though. No one talks to Franziska that way. No one. Plus, his whole stupid attitude about Mia... Yeah, I hated his guts, thatā€™s for sure. It also had the scene that I hate (Phoenix needs to fucking learn what PTSD is or I swear to god) but otherwise, very good case.
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Turnabout Visitor -- 5/10 HELLOOOOOO I was so excited to finally play these games that the whole case is a bit of a blur, but I do remember not really finding it that interesting outside of the whole rush ofĀ ā€˜FUCK YEAH Iā€™M PLAYING INVESTIGATIONSā€™. Jacques annoyed me. But itā€™s Investigations. Investigations is cool.
Turnabout Airlines -- 7/10 Okay, first of all, Edgeworth hiding Steel Samurai stuff in a law book is genuinely just the funniest thing ever. But this case was pretty fun! I love that Franziskaā€™s working with Interpol now, good for her! The characters were pretty cool (I really liked Cammy) and I thought a lot of it was pretty funny, too.
The Kidnapped Turnabout -- 6/10 The only reason this gets 6 points is because it introduced Kay Faraday, who is my chaos child that I love dearly, and also Shi-Long Lang, who I have a very complicated relationship with. It switches from love to hate frequently. It also introduced their totally epic theme songs, one of which is now my morning alarm. Otherwise, I really donā€™t like it that much. The case goes on for too long, and a lot of the characters are pretty annoying. I really hate Lance. I feel bad for Lauren, though. Ernest... Ugh. Ugh. The man makes me want to break things. Every time he mentions von Karma, he inevitably says something that makes my blood boil. And it brings back Wendy Oldbag, which is always bad news, and she was so fucking creepy, and... yeah. I enjoyed seeing Ema again, though! She seemed to be living her best life :)
Turnabout Reminiscence -- 9/10 This case had too much von Karma in it, and the fact that he went and called Edgeworth worthless right to his face made me so angry and upset... But! It is still a very good case! I really like Detective Badd, and Calisto... Calisto is very pretty and fun, but... yeah. Also! Baby Kay! Baby Kay is everything! And the sibling rights, they were everywhere! The case was just full of them! I love Miles and Franziska bickering like regular siblings. I love the scene with the Swiss rolls. I love Franziska getting between him and her dad. Sibling rights are so real.
Turnabout Ablaze -- 6/10 This case was pretty eventful. Not a favorite by any means, but still good. I thought it was a little too long, though, and the ending just really felt like it was dragging out too much. It got to the point that I wasnā€™t even fired up anymore, I was just kind of trying to get it all over with. Also, whether he meant it or not, Lang accusing Franziska of murder made me mad. But some of the twists were cool, even if I figured out most of them ahead of time... Also, Edgeworth getting really mad about Larry playing the Steel Samurai was hilarious, in a mean way. I felt a little bit bad for laughing.
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth: Prosecutorā€™s Path
Turnabout Target -- 4/10 This one was kinda boring, to be honest. I liked seeing Shelly de Killer again, though, with his matching ice cream cone. And I liked Nicole. (I bet I know who her first mentor was...)
The Imprisoned Turnabout -- 5/10 This one also kinda bored me, unfortunately. Raymond ticked me off from basically the moment he walked onscreen, because sure, letā€™s blame Edgeworth for [checks notes] ah yes, being manipulated by Manfred von Karma since he was nine. Letā€™s do that. Nothing wrong with that at all. /dripping sarcasm Sebastian also ticked me off at first, but Iā€™m warming up to him. Also, I was in love at first sight with Justine Courtney. [heart eyes] I am not embarrassed in the slightest to admit to it. She is amazing. Simon is really funny and I think it wouldā€™ve been hilarious if he was actually evil, but he was innocent, so... My blood ran cold when I found out the Berry Big Circus was involved, but thank god, it was only Regina. No Franziska yet. Iā€™m really hoping Franziska will show up.
The Inherited Turnabout -- 8/10 I havenā€™t finished this one yet, but so far, Iā€™ve been enjoying it, even if it torments me with sadness and anger. Once again, von Karma shortens my lifespan, but Gregory Edgeworth lengthens it. (I think itā€™s really funny that they got ProZD to voice him.) Raymond... I still donā€™t like Raymond. Though his eating the paper is funny. Also! Also! Katherine Hall! This game introduced two women in a row that I have absolutely fallen for, and I have zero complaints about this. They are incredible. Sebastian is really funny in this one and like I said I am really warming up to him. Yeah. Thatā€™s all I really have to say so far. Still no sign of Franziska...
Iā€™m definitely excited to see where the other cases in this game will take me, and after that it will be time for Apollo Justice! I am looking forward to finally meeting the famous Klavier Gavin... But I am not at all looking forward to meeting Kristoph... Oh, well. Iā€™ll live. Probably.
Thank you for reading all of this, haha! I have a lot of thoughts... Many thoughts head full (of Ace Attorney).

If I had to rank the Ace Attorney games (minus the spin-offs since I havenā€™t played them), from least favorite to best:
6) Justice for AllĀ Ā
This was an easy pick. Least favorite tutorial level, least favorite turnabout in the entire series (Turnabout Big Top), and the writing just felt rushed, which makes sense when you consider the gameā€™s production.Ā
Also, this might be a controversial opinion but Iā€™m not a huge fan of Farewell My Turnabout. The case wouldā€™ve been great but they just had to push Franziska von Karma aside in order to force Miles Edgeworth into the story. Not only did that ruin Franziskaā€™s character arc, it was also not a good use of Edgeworthā€™s character. Since I have 5 other games to cover and Iā€™ve written a whole post about this before, I wonā€™t repeat my points.Ā
5) Spirit of Justice
I hate to put this here but after going through all six games again, SoJ definitely did not age well. Out of the five cases in the game, the only case I really liked wasĀ ā€œThe Magical Turnaboutā€. The other cases werenā€™t bad but the overall story was just okay.Ā
This is probably just personal preferences but for me, the Khuraā€™in revolution stuff felt half-baked and underwhelming. Maybe if they built up that storyline in the previous two games, like how the original trilogy developed the Fey clan family dispute storyline through all three games, maybe the revolution storyline wouldā€™ve landed better.Ā
In addition, I hated how SoJ was trying too hard to capitalize on nostalgia for the original trilogy. They brought back Maya Fey but didnā€™t do anything substantial with her character. Her appearance was more of a wink to the audience. Then thereā€™s Apollo and Nahyuta, whose shared past subplot was written too closely to resemble Phoenix and Milesā€™ relationship in the first game. And then, they just copied the plot of Farewell My Turnabout for Phoenix and Apolloā€™sĀ ā€œshowdownā€.Ā
So yeah, I donā€™t think SoJ was a terrible game but itā€™s definitely one of the weaker Ace Attorney games in my honest opinion.Ā
4) Apollo Justice
I donā€™t have much to say about this game. Itā€™s a good game but the overall storyline was just...bland? I feel like, out of the six games in the main series, Apollo Justice was the least engaging. There really isnā€™t that much for me to say, Apollo Justice was just...okay.Ā
Kristoph Gavin was a good antagonist but not my personal favorite. Klavier Gavin was a cool prosecutor but he would be somewhere in the middle of my prosecutors list (at least above Nahyuta but below Simon and Godot). Then there are the cases, which are all sort of in the middle of my list if I had to rank them with all the other cases in the series.Ā
I will say, the aspect of Apollo Justice that stands out for me is the music. Apollo Justice has the best music in the entire series and has my favorite pressing pursuit theme.Ā
3) Dual Destinies
I was honestly surprised by how much I liked Dual Destinies after going through it again. When I first went through the game, I had it placed below Apollo Justice. But after a second run-through, the game left a better impression on me.Ā
What really made the game for me were Simon and Athena. Simon Blackquill is easily my second favorite prosecutor in the series and I really liked Athena Cykesā€™ storyline in the game. You can argue that Dual Destinies was really Athenaā€™s game, which is why I feel that Turnabout Storyteller shouldā€™ve been in this game rather than Spirit of Justice.Ā
As for the rest of the game, I really loved all the new characters introduced. Juniper Woods is easily my favorite minor character introduced in this game and Iā€™m still disappointed that she wasnā€™t included in Spirit of Justice. Aura Blackquill was a great minor ā€œvillainā€. Then, thereā€™s Bobby Fulbright and the Phantom. Personally, I liked the twist that Bobby was the Phantom the whole time. The Phantom isnā€™t one of my favorite villains but I did like the switch, as well as having Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena team up to take the Phantom down.
2) Phoenix Wright
The game that started it all. If it werenā€™t for this game, the whole series wouldnā€™t exist, so by default it has to be high up on this list. Now I actually love all four cases (technically five because of Rise from the Ashes), even Turnabout Samurai which suffers from the dreaded 3rd case syndrome.Ā
The only reason why the first game isnā€™t my favorite in the series is that my favorite cases are in the third game. If my favorite cases were in the first game, then this would definitely be in the number one spot.Ā
Now, if I HAD to nitpick, Iā€™d say that Turnabout Sisters had some of the weaker writing in the game. Although it was nice to have Mia Fey be the one to ultimately take Redd White down, it felt more like a way-too-convenient deus ex machina for me. In addition, Redd White was a bit underwhelming as the main villain, especially when compared to the other killers in the series. Also, I just couldnā€™t get into Rise from the Ashes. Itā€™s not a bad case but itā€™s just way too long and takes forever to get you invested in the story.Ā  Ā
1) Trials and Tribulations
Yeah, this was a pretty easy pick. As I previously wrote, my all-time favorite cases are in this game (Turnabout Memories / Bridge to the Turnabout). In addition, Godot is my favorite prosecutor, Dahlia Hawthorne is my favorite Ace Attorney antagonist, and I loved how the game was a culmination of the entire original trilogy.Ā
This game was a great send-off to the series and it really did feel like a decisive conclusion to Phoenixā€™s story. In fact, just going through this game again really highlighted how the Apollo Justice era games need to break off and be their own thing. Sorry to bring this back up but the new games really didnā€™t need to bring Maya, Miles, and Phoenix back into the story. T&T wrapped everything up.Ā Ā
Now, if I HAD to nitpick, all my criticisms go towards Recipe for Turnabout. That case was just...not good. Still, thatā€™s one case out of five, thatā€™s forgivable.Ā

fresh off the credits of JFA so, takeaways
- as a mechanic, i really enjoyed how psyche-locks worked. i did not so much enjoy penalty bars not refilling in between bits of trial but as tradeoffs go it wasnā€™t that big a hassle
- the fact that they drop ā€˜oh yeah edgeworth is deadā€™ in the middle of a conversation with an 8 year old as your first hard clue of what happened to edgeworth between games, and then completely refuse to elaborate on that until much later, is frankly hysterical to me. like i knew he wasnā€™t dead going into this but damn iā€™d have lost my shit if i hadnā€™t
- phoenix this game is so much more angry and stressed out than the previous game and huh itā€™s almost like losing someone he fought so hard to help really hurt him a whole lot didnā€™t it. the way he and franziska are really Uncalled For towards each other over this issue is a real highlight imo.
- by god does he care for maya though, he broke down no less than two doors to save her and the bit at the beginning of case 4 where he almost blacks out when he hears maya got kidnapped got me real damn good
- i can already sense that morgan is going to make trials and tribulations much worse than it has to be. case 2 was quite good! despite the fact that i donā€™t remember if they ever stated how maya was drugged.
- i canā€™t decide if i like pearl or not. i will say itā€™s uh pretty abjectly weird to see her channel mia.
- maya continues to astound me w/ how much i love her and i adore that she has made friends of gumshoe and edgeworth. the immediacy with which they responded to her kidnapping when they heard about it warmed my heart. her highlight this game is definitely her own proactive role in case 4: she sprung herself at least once and then implemented strengths unique to her (using mia as a conduit for information between herself and pearl (so by extension phoenix)) to clue the police in to where she was. i am so proud.
- i didnā€™t really, fully get what they were trying to do with franziska until case 4 where weā€™re allowed to see her style of prosecution contrasted directly with the newly returned edgeworthā€™s. then i loved her and pitied her all at once. the airport scene right at the end, oof.
- farewell, my turnabout is like. THE best case. miles and phoenix trading their roles asĀ ā€˜the person whoā€™s struggling with all this shit being thrown at themā€™ andĀ ā€˜the person whoā€™s here for them in their hour of greatest needā€™ from turnabout goodbyes/rise from the ashes. franziska trying to prosecute the second half of the trial minutes after being shot. phoenix throwing a phone at miles across a courtroom baying for blood. the way miles just drops in halfway through this investigation all casual and both phoenix and franziska are likeĀ ā€˜what the actual fuck, you assholeā€™. gumshoeā€™s devotion to the cause up to and including stealing from the police. the list just goes ON.
- just in general, farewell, my turnabout blew my entire fucking MIND with how well it juggled all of what was going on in it, beginning to end. most other cases there would be something that i got hung up on for some reason that seemed really obtuse but this case was laid out such that i felt like i always knew the general direction i should be heading in and all the answers were clearly there for you, if you knew where to look. and even knowing all that, the twists STILL nailed me!
- turnabout big top was not that bad, you guys are just mean.

I just found a whole notepad document full of notes I was making while replaying Apollo Justice and this stuck out to me:
ā€œI'm starting to see some weird truth behind Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Usually, at the end of an Ace Attorney case, the whole thing works itself out, and everybody is happy with the verdict.
But going back through this game...that's not the case at all.
For example: In Justice for All, the second game, the first case ends with Phoenix recovering from amnesia, the second ends with Pearl living with Maya instead of her heartless mother, the third ends with a marriage (regardless of the actual poltics of how genuinely awful it is), the fourth ends with Matt Engarde getting outed for doing all the terrible things he did, Franziska shows up with the last piece of evidence, and Edgeworth and Phoenix get him a guilty verdict together.
All those cases end happily, because that game is a normal Ace Attorney game.
But in this one....
Case 1 ends with Apollo's mentor going to prison.
Case 2 ends with Eldoon still working a job he hates at a noodle stand when his passion was to be a doctor. The person who performed Wocky's surgery is already dead, so he doesn't get his comeuppance. That means Wocky's father has to search the globe to try and find someone who could possibly perform his surgery, and in the end, we never find out if he survived or not.
Case 3 ends with Machi getting arrested for a different crime, smuggling in a cure for the Chief Justice's son, a cure that was destroyed during a concert...Sure, Daryan gets locked up, but he was able to completely slip under the radar up until that point, even going so far as to try to kill Lamiroir after he successfully killed her manager, all the while, Lamiroir had no idea because she was blind.
And Case 4 ends with the legal system still in its tragic state, Vera is still recovering from having been poisioned, and she's now alone in the world without her father, Trucy's own father is dead, her uncle turns himself in for a crime he didn't commit, and Phoenix is still out of the job. Trucy and Apollo never find out that they're brother and sister.
All these cases have incredibly unhappy endings. They're framed in such a bitter-sweet way, too.
And now I get it.
It's all a commentary....on the past games. Not that we can't have unhappy endings, but that the reason these endings are unhappy is that this legal system they use doesn't work.
It's Phoenix's whole reason for doing what he does and Kristoph's only advantage that, without the jury at the end, the system would have let him go without arrest. These people in power can do things right under the noses of everybody else...that's a theme that's been explored in the games before.
But unlike all those other times, when those people were brought to their knees, and they suffered, and they felt the weight of their crimes....
Most of them get a much lighter sentence than they could ever deserve.
What's worse, the victims are also treated like - no, scratch that. They ARE criminals.
Phoenix got his badge taken away for forging evidence. Wocky is a gangster. Machi is a smuggler. Vera is a forger.
All of these people are criminals. The only one who goes unpunished is Vera because she was too young to understand what she was doing.
Even the 15-year-old kid gets arrested.
Apollo Justice isn't just harsh on Apollo. It's harsh on everyone who's ever been victimized.
Its message isn't about succession. It's about how people in power can become corrupted and use that for their own advantage.... Yet, even in the case of Damon Gant, Matt Engarde and Manfred von Karma, they got their punishment. It was well-deserved. Lana was even okay with being taken to prison and stripped of her title if it meant Damon was brought to justice.
But that case...Rise from the Ashes, the one where Gant and Lana come from, that was made as a DLC made after Apollo Justice, meant to help tie in the events of the first trilogy into that game. And it ends on a sour note, too. Ema has lost her sister to the justice system. Phoenix is lonely without Maya. And Edgeworth decides to leave overseas....
In a sense...Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is a weird commentary on this whole power dynamic thing....nobody gets what they want in the end. The Gavinners break up, Phoenix still isn't an attorney, Trucy has the world on her shoulders, Ema is still at the shitty job she hates, it's never really said if Wocky recovers, half the cast is in prison....
But it's all spun to be something happy. Apollo, at the very end of it all, mentions ā€˜hope.ā€™
....I guess that's kind of poetic.ā€

answers aa themed questions nobody asked because iā€™m cool and sexy
also i havent played the 5th or 6th games so
YOUR FAVOURITEā€¦? 1. Favourite Ace Attorney game? honestly? phoenix wright ace attorney! everythingā€™s fresh, there arenā€™t many weak characters, and the plot is remarkable (especially the fifth case). the whole trilogy is really good as one unit though 2. Favourite case? 1-4, 1-5, 2-4, and 3-5 are tied lol, i canā€™t make a decision to save my life. 2-1 is really really funny tho 3. Favourite defendant? as a defendant, lana skye. as a person, edgeworth 4. Favourite prosecutor? as a prosecutor, franziska von karma. as a person, edgeworth 5. Favourite ship? wrightworth obviously... ive probably put more thought into them over the last 3 years than any other ship 6. Favourite victim? probably mia fey or gregory edgeworth... but for non-relevant victims, neil marshall :( 7. Favourite murderer? shelly de killer, i LOVE that guy. but dee vasquez was very cool as well 8. Favourite assistant? maya fey!!!!!!!!!! but i like kay faraday a lot too (im so sorry ema) 9. Favourite witness? adrian andrews... or maybe iris? i mean i didnā€™t like iris but god what a person 10. Favourite quote? ā€œIt doesn't matter how many underhanded tricks a person uses... The truth will always find a way to make itself known. The only thing we can do is to fight with the knowledge we hold and everything we have. Erasing the paradoxes one by one... It's never easy... We claw and scratch for every inch. But we will always eventually reach that one single truth. This I promise you.ā€ - Miles Edgeworth i made this one of my senior quotes :]
YOUR LEAST FAVOURITEā€¦? 11. Least favourite Ace Attorney game? uh fucking apollo justice. literally what the hell was that 12. Least favourite case? turnabout visitor wasnā€™t very strong? i guess itā€™s fine as an intro, but itā€™s also wonky with the timeline of aai 13. Least favourite defendant? max galactica. heā€™s better in the anime though 14. Least favourite prosecutor? manfred von karma, obviously. i like every other prosecutor (who i know of) though, even winston payne is pretty funny in hindsight 15. Least favourite ship? ā€œmiles edgeworth/female ocā€. there are a lot of bad ships though, mostly involving phoenix & his assistants. dont do that please 16. Least favourite victim? zak gramarye for kickstarting that shitty, shitty game 17. Least favourite murderer? again mvk... but also fucking frank sahwit LMAO 18. Least favourite assistant? i guess trucy 19. Least favourite witness? fuck everyone from turnabout big top unless it was the anime episode 20. Least favourite memory of Ace Attorney? repeatedly trying and failing to download the emulator for aai2 hbjsjhdb i eventually got it but someone had to send me the download fully pre-patched and i felt kinda useless DO YOU PREFERā€¦? 21. Phoenix Wright or Apollo Justice? phoenix wright. fuck that ā€œGOTCHA!ā€ mechanic jesus christ 22. Maya Fey or Trucy Wright? maya fey. nothing personal against trucy but i just dont like aj hbjsdjhsdb also maya is really sweet and fun and she has the best sprites. she seems like sheā€™d be a good friend, itā€™s too bad that she doesnā€™t have the time for them as a spirit medium and all :( if maya ema and kay got to hang out together itd be wild 23. Investigations or trials? trials are easier in my opinion because investigations have several things you could be doing without such a linear style, so if you miss something, you wonā€™t really know until you wander around forever 24. College Phoenix or Hobo Phoenix? college feenie!!!!! heā€™s like trilogy feenie but more emotional and less witty. i like to pretend that hobo phoenix doesnt exist 25. Klavier Gavin or Kristoph Gavin? who would say kristoph 26. Ace Attorney or Ace Attorney Investigations? ace attorney but only because phoenix is in it lmao. im actually rewatching a playthrough of aai now, and playing aai2 at the same time, so while it is on the mind, i feel like the cases characters and mechanics - while loved - donā€™t hold up to the OGs 27. Apolloā€™s perceive, Phoenixā€™s magatama, or Athenaā€™s Mood Matrix? i actually kinda like the mood matrix more than anything because it has a really good UI and the magatama is kinda grating. but FUCK the gotcha mechanic it is SO FUCKING STUPID and IMPOSSIBLE TO USE.Ā  where is logic chess 28. Ace Attorney trilogy or Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies? you already know my answer to this one 29. 3D models or sprites? i do like the 3d models a lot but i like the original sprites more! imo original pixel sprites > 3D models > HD sprites. mostly bc the hd sprites are garbage (see here, here, and here) 30. Ema Skye as she is in Rise from the Ashes or Ema Skye as she is in Apollo Justice? rfta !!!!!! shes actually really nice as an assistant, esp considering the fact that we actually see her interact with her sister, which is something maya didnā€™t have very often. also her random appearance in aai was well appreciated by me
MISCELLANEOUS 31. Did you like what they did to Phoenix in Apollo Justice?
NO I AM SO FUCKING MAD WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO HIM ISNā€™T HE A LAWYER WHY COULD HE NOT JUST DEFEND HIMSELF FROM THE FACT THAT HEĀ ā€œFORGED EVIDENCEā€ IT WASNā€™T EVEN HIS IN THE FIRST PLACE SOMEBODY ELSE FORGED IT AND HE DIDNā€™T KNOW THAT, MANFRED VON KARMA GOT AWAY WITH A FUCKLOAD OF NONSENSE AND SO DOES EVERY OTHER LAWYER SO WHY IS IT THAT PHOENIX CAN SURVIVE EATING A POISONED GLASS NECKLACE AND GETTING HIT OVER THE HEAD WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND FALLING FROM A BURNING BRIDGE INTO A RUSHING RAVINE AND BEING HIT BY A CAR BUT HE CANā€™T FUCKING DEFEND HIMSELF LIKE HE DOES IN EVERY OTHER CASE BECAUSE THATā€™S THE POINT OF THE GAME AND ALSO HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER
32. Your opinion on Dai Gyakuten Saiban? havenā€™t played it! it looks pretty cool though
33. Do you think Dai Gyakuten Saiban and/or Miles Edgeworth Investigations 2 will get localised to the West? doubt it, since the creators have said that it wonā€™t be. but the fan translations are pretty good, so i think itā€™s okay
34. Do you think Miles Edgeworth should get another Investigation-game or do you think another character deserves a spin-off? i mean he already has two, so i guess he doesnā€™t need another? like i love edgeworth but heā€™s not as fun without phoenix around. ngl i would play a franziska game. or a maya game, or any spinoff revolving around a side character. hell iā€™d play hotti game if it meant it took place in the trilogy era
35. Opinion on the soundtrack of the Ace Attorney-franchise? REALLY good. really really good. i love how each game of the trilogy has different composers but each track has the same theme and feel!!!
36. Do you like where the franchise is heading or did you prefer the atmosphere in the original trilogy? seriously absolutely completely prefer the trilogy. iā€™m sorry but the rush of youth and trust is way, way more enjoyable than whateverĀ ā€œiā€™m 35 and therefore middle agedā€ nonsense is happening in the 2020s
37. Capcom suddenly announces that Phoenix will no longer appear in the Ace Attorney franchise! Your reaction? Heā€™s been replaced by Penny Nichols. Fuck you.
38. Capcom suddenly announces that the Ace Attorney franchise has ended for good! Your reaction? it was me i ended it
39. Would you like there to be another Ace Attorney/Professor Layton crossover game? i didnt play it but i really like the idea!!!!!! aa crossover games are really funny to me, i mean have you seen edgeworth in project x zone 2, lmao
40. Would you like an Ace Attorney anime? we have one now! honestly i donā€™t think it did a very good job of representing the cases, but it did do a good character remix of turnabout big top so that theyā€™re not creepy anymore. they also did a really good job with the anime-specific cases, like the one on the train! it feels a lot better paced when itā€™s intended for that medium rather than just adapted.Ā  also the childhood episodes made me cry
41. Opinion on anime cutscenes in Ace Attorney? like in 5 and 6? mm, the art style is kinda weird, and i donā€™t really like the voices, but i guess not everything can beĀ pachinkoĀ andĀ prozd
42. Would you want to play an Ace Attorney game where you take on the prosecutorā€™s role? YEAH ACTUALLY!!!!!! it might be kinda weird being on the right side of the screen though lmao
43. Do you like having DLC in Ace Attorney-games? uhhh i hate having to buy extra things, but iā€™ll admit that they are pretty funny
44. Opinion on Lamiroirā€™s storyline? i only played aj so if shes in other games idk but i thought she was fine
45. One thing you think the Ace Attorney games can improve on? stop having creepy characters please. also jesus christ if phoenix and edgeworth arent wearing rings in aa7 i will become the ceo of capcom myself
46. Capcom suddenly announces an Ace Attorney movie! Would you like it to be based on an already existing case or would you like an all new storyline? i mean the musical did a pretty good job of adapting existing cases, so it might as well be new. it would be kinda hard to balance the gamesā€™ timeline & character development without being repetitive or an au
47. Capcom suddenly announces an Ace Attorney movie! Would you prefer it being live-action, 3D animated or 2D animated? stylized 2D animation, probably? i would want it to feel more like into the spiderverse than an anime, though. in my dream ace attorney movie, theyā€™d just need a high art budget, several plausible deniability wrightworth scenes, and prozd to voice edgeworth
48. If there could be an Ace Attorney crossover with whatever franchise youā€™d like, which one would you choose? (Does not need to be a video-game franchise) your turn to die is probably closest in characterization, although its premise is moreĀ ā€œlocked in a roomā€ than the open-world investigation of aa
49. Opinion on recurring witnesses? (Wendy Oldbag, Lotta Hart, Larry Butz, etc.) honestly, i like them a lot! i donā€™t know why people hate them so much - i mean, i know lotta lied, and wendy is a horrible old flirt, and larry just kinda sucks all around. but theyā€™re also pretty funny to have around! larry is a constant comic relief who reminds you how much better nick & edgey are in comparison, lotta is likeable as a general character (like in 2-4, although yeah, not remarkable), and wendy oldbag is really funny. sheā€™s so fucking funny. none of you appreciate wendy oldbagā€™s quirks and you are SLEEPING ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
50. Do you think Dual Destinies deserved its M-rating? no idea, holy shit, it got an m-rating? i mean every game before it has had blood violence and very mild swearing, and since DD probably doesnt have anything too sexually risquƩ, i doubt it deserves a rating any harsher than the rest of the series
okay thanks thats all

hello friendo- i can't pay you for writing something and i'm mad about it,,but um!! could i get a short story/bulleted apollo proposal??? thanks, you're amazing-
Ā  Ā Itā€™s alright! Those are largely for people looking for SI/Canon stuff or just as, like...a tip for my work. And Iā€™ve got two commissions to work on, so Iā€™m doing alright!
Ā  Ā In the meantime, first time writing Apollo! I hope I can do him Justice for ya~! [badum tssh]
Tumblr media
He thought it wasnā€™t going to be hard. Sure, picking out a ring was a bit tough and deciding how heā€™d like to propose was a mess of wording, but he felt ready! He loves you so much!! All he has to do is take you to dinner, have a nice time-
...He canā€™t do it. Holy shit. This is terrifying.
He goes back to the Wright Anything Agency in shame, even though Phoenix, Trucy, and Athena are actually very kind to his plight. Itā€™s hard to feel confident when it feels like anything can happen, huh?
ā€œFeelings like that are why I understand I donā€™t have job security.ā€ -Phoenix
ā€œ...Wow. Great help.ā€ -Athena
It goes from a one-man-plan into the WAA helping him out. Phoenix and Trucy band together to create a lovely evening. Athena hangs out with you more to talk about relationships.
Widget isnā€™t the most subtle...necklace-robot around, but she makes do. Itā€™s still kinda.....suspicious, though.
(You just canā€™t keep talking about proposals, Athena. It gets suspicious after a while.)
So when Apollo asks you on another date a few weeks later (after apologizing for being so busy with planning this proposal work), youā€™re feeling a little...suspicious.
New place, but excellent food... After that, you kinda forget you were being suspicious. Especially since Apolloā€™s eager to make you smile and laugh. The place feels fancy, but goofing around with your boyfriend makes things feel fun!
Thereā€™s a park not too far from there, so you go for a walk. Moonā€™s on the rise, thereā€™s a lit up gazebo up ahead...with people? Seems like thereā€™s an event up ahead complete with a band. You donā€™t wanna intrude, but it seems like Apollo knows the people and-
ā€œWould... Would you like to dance with me?ā€ Thereā€™s a song ending, but heā€™s timing it right enough that you could start on the next.
ā€œIā€™m not the best dancer, though...!ā€
ā€œItā€™ll be fine. Promise. I can help you.ā€ Heā€™s not the greatest either, but... Canā€™t be that hard, right?
Itā€™s a lot of step and turn, really. A bit of swaying. Itā€™s lovely and simple and you canā€™t stop yourself from blushing cause ever since youā€™ve started dancing he hasnā€™t taken his eyes off of yours.
Well... Now or never, right?
ā€œIā€™ve been trying to figure out how to say this all night,ā€ he begins, a hint of nervousness in his tone, but heā€™s begun. No turning back now.Ā ā€œHow wonderful you are. How supportive of me you been... Letting me support your dreams in turn.
ā€œYouā€™ve been nothing but amazing. My inspiration in everything I do. When things get bad... I can just remember Iā€™ll be seeing you soon, remembering your smile, and I instantly am ready to take on the world...or just the court.ā€ (That makes you giggle and he smiles, but keeps going?!)
ā€œYouā€™ve already been with me for so long... Seen so much along with me. Helped me through so much...and Iā€™ve done the same for you. You feel like home...and if youā€™d agree, Iā€™d, uh... Iā€™d like to really make it a home.ā€
Thatā€™s when he slows your turns to a halt, pulling away so he can drop to a knee and pull out a dark red, velvet box. Opening it, the ring inside.
ā€œ[Y/N]... Will you marry me?ā€
.....The tears were immediate. The words, the soft, gentle look in his eyes... Itā€™s hard to not cry.
ā€œOf course...!ā€
He ends up crying a little, too; from nerves and getting to finally put that ring on your finger. He did it...!
Of course Phoenix, Trucy, and Athena had blended into the crowd of friends with some creative choices (a hat for Phoenix to lessen notice of his spiky hair, Trucy had really dolled up to be less noticeable, and Athena had worn a yellow dress...but stayed more in the back, in the shadows, to make herself less noticeable, as well). So once the hug-fest calms, they walk over to congratulate you two, as well!
Other friendly faces make themselves known, as well?! Edgeworth, Klavier, Franziska, Gumshoe, Ema.... Itā€™s amazing!

Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, Love Live for the ask meme
STRAP YOURSELVES IN, KIDDOS. THIS IS A FUCKING ESSAY RIGHT HERE.
Ace Attorney:
Favorite Male Character: Miles Edgeworth. Shi-Long Lang is great as well. I also have a soft spot for Klavier, Sebastian and Apollo. And, naturally, my space son, Clay Terran.
Favorite Female Character: Kay Faraday!! Props also go to Mia Fey and Trucy Wright, as well as Athena and Jinxie.
Favorite Het Ship: Farabeste (Sebastian/Kay). Cykesquill as well, but Iā€™m very specific about how and when I like it...like, ridiculously specific. Diego/Mia is good as well. For something more ridiculous that I think would be fun, Clay and Athena could have had a great dynamic. Maybe even Clay and Jinxie, if we go out and be totally wild.
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Klapollo, Langworth, Nahyuta/Simon. Vera/Trucy, lady Cykesquill, Robin/Myriam and Athena/Juniper for the ladies.Ā
Least Favorite Male Character: how to I condense the list of the bastards? Kristoph is evil, but I cannot deny he had charm as a character - heā€™s terrifying, but fascinating, so I cannot name him as my least favourite. I think Iā€™ll go with either von Karma or Blaze Debeste. Theyā€™re responsible for so much misery, and they donā€™t have any tragic reasons for being the way they are.
Least Favorite Female Character: Ma//ya Fe//y. I know the reasons people have for liking her, and I can forgive some flaws in writing, but she simply has too many of them. I know she is a courageous girl who ultimately wishes to do good, but the way she acts, especially in the first two games... just make me goĀ ā€˜hmmmmā€™. Honestly, my favourite games in the series are those where I donā€™t get to see her. Young Pearl is also very low down on the list, and she was my least favourite for a long while, but her teenage years made me soften up to her, sheā€™s pretty great in DD.
Least Favorite Het Ship: anything that encourages abuse, like Grant/Lana? Why would you do this? Also, Iā€™m not fond of Athena/Apollo or Juniper/Apollo. Apollo is far too gay in my eyes to ever be together with a girl. Phoenix/Maya is another one I dislike.
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): same rule as above applies. Aside from those, I... donā€™t have many slash ships I actively dislike, surprisingly? My main one would be Wri//ght//wor//th, since, in my opinion, itā€™s very overhyped, and I cannot turn around in this fandom without seeing it, but even that is mostly just...annoyance.
Dirty Little Secret: I havenā€™t forgotten about my dumbass theory. Iā€™m just...really fucking slow.
Headcanon(s): this will need to be answered in its own separate asks. I have headcanons for everyone. For now, though - Jinxie Tenma is a Fey.
Unpopular Opinion(s):Ā I like Gyakuten Kenji far more than the original games. In general, games with a protag thatā€™s not Phoenix and newer games in the series I tend to like more. Not to imply that the original trilogy was bad or anything, but... Edgeworth is far more solid as a protagonist, not only because his side was relatively unexplored, but because his investigation methods were so much more sensible. Phoenix has this ā€˜wing itā€™ approach, which works fine, until you see past it. When you see past it, the tension build-up it tries to pull fails massively, and you just get annoyed by Phoenix never thinking ahead for anything, or being oblivious. With Edgeworth, when there are moments of tension, they appear because of something genuinely unexpected, or because Edgeworth made a miscalculation (which allows character growth). Even when Edgeworth has to pull dumb or crazy shit, it feels like it makes sense, because he thinks, even when he panics. Also, Phoenix is tied down by the worst accompanying duo of Maya and Pearl all the time, while Edgeworth acquires an absolutely amazing set of sidekicks (and he not only gets fun new ones, like Kay and Lang, but thereā€™s so much detail in his interactions with Gumshoe, Franziska and Larry as well? It was great to see the Edgeworth/Larry dynamic of the friendship). Plus, I like the Logic Chess things, the soundtrack is my favourite (how exactly COULD you even attempt to top Shi-Long Langā€™s theme???), at least if weā€™re not counting PLvsAA as a part of this universe, and I like the visuals of it much better. In short, everybody should play these fucking games right fucking now, and storm Capcom offices so they actually port GK2 for the Western market.
A lot of the same criteria apply for the newer games, too. While DD was a comeback for Phoenix, it was a game with mixed protagonists, and it was a new Phoenix as well. Apollo probably has my second favourite supporting character crew after Edgeworth, and, at the time, his Perceive mechanic was refreshing to see after being stuck to the same gimmick for 3 games. Same with Athena. She differs dractically from both Phoenix and Apollo, and brings a new mechanic and a new set of associated people. In other words? Iā€™m happy this series is trying new things, and exploring extra protagonists where it can. It has improved a whole bunch as a result.
Danganronpa:
Favorite Male Character: Byakuya Togami, Kiyotaka Ishimaru. Nagisa Shingetsu. Gundham Tanaka, Hajime Hinata, Kuzuryuu Fuyuhiko, Nagito Komaeda. Shuuichi Saihara, Ouma Kokichi, Rantarou Amami.
Favorite Female Character: Aoi Asahina, Celes, Touko Fukawa. Sonia Nevermind, Peko Pekoyama, Akane Owari, Ibuki Mioda. Angie Yonaga, Kirumi Toujou, Maki Harukawa, Tenko Chabashira.Ā
Favorite Het Ship: Togami/Asahina, Ishimaru/Asahina, Hinata/Ibuki, Tanaka/Pekoyama (Iā€™m especially fond of this one, also titled Soft Animals Edge Duo). Sonia/Kuzuryuu is also great, though that is a platonic ship, as I headcanon Sonia as aro.
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Naegi/Ishimaru, Naegi/Togami. KomaNaegi is quite pure, but a friend also got me into KomaSouda as a complimentary ship to TanaPeko. A crackship, but still a favourite is Izuru/Ryouta. And, of course, the ultimate fave - Saiouma. (A nice shoutout also goes to Oumota and Amamota). As for the ladies, Kirizono and Celesgiri, and all gay Asahina ships are good, SoniAkane & Pekobuki. In V3, Tenko is mega gay, so thereā€™s a chance for every gay ship, however, my favourite one is Tenko/Maki. If weā€™re talking non-Tenko ships, Angie/Maki sounds fun.
Least Favorite Male Character: in DR1, surprisingly, none. Well, Hagakure can get on my nerves, but I like just alright all of them. In SDR2, Nidai, in my opinion, didnā€™t have that great of a development, so I guess him. Though I also have plenty of issues with Souda. In V3, Gon//ta Go//ku//ha//ra.
Least Favorite Female Character: All DR1 girls are good, and even if they arenā€™t, theyā€™re at least interesting or entertaining. But if I have to pick, Junko, if weā€™re judging morality. In SDR2, Mi//kan Tsu//mi//ki and Hi//yo//ko Sai//onji,in terms of morality and/or being dicks. In terms of rather poor writing (despite having a good idea), Chi//a//ki Na//na//mi. In V3, H//i//m//i//k//o Y//u//m//e//n//o and K//a//e//d//e A//k//a//m//a//t//s//u. The final one is also my least favourite in the entirety of the series as a whole.
Least Favorite Het Ship: Jun//ko//ma//e//da. In general, any Junko ship is not very good for plenty of reasons. Na//e//gi//ri. In SDR2, Souda/Sonia (sheā€™s clearly not comfortable with him), Nidai/Akane, Hi//na//na//mi.. Not sure if should be mentioned here, but romantic Kuzupeko? Mostly because I cannot picture it as a thing. I do, however, like them platonically, they do care about each other a whole bunch. In V3, Sa//i//ma//tsu (never make me look at it).Ā
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Chi//hi//mon//do. Even if I do like Mondo okay, itā€™s not healthy. Ka//mu//ko//ma. Son//dam. Jun//ko//mi//kan? Mahiru/Peko for sure. Kiib//ou//ma, too.
And the one I guarantee Iā€™ll receive anon hate over - Te//n//hi//mi.
Dirty Little Secret: this series somehow manages to combine the good with the ridiculous in such a way that I can accept.
Unpopular Opinion(s): I am the literal embodiment of unpopular opinions in this franchise. I think V3 is the best game of the series, and it had a brilliant twist (both the start one and the final one). I donā€™t really ship the most popular ships, the obvious exception being Saiouma (and, to an extent, SoniAkane? Itā€™s a popular Akane ship, at least). I think Saihara is a far better protag choice than the other option that was presented, since the story and its structure was made to fit him. Iā€™m the unpopular opinion and rarepair central in this fucking thing. (Please help me.)
Love Live!:
Favorite Male Character: yay for not having prominent males, which means I get to skip 2 more questions here.
Favorite Female Character: In Museā€™s, my top 3 is Hanayo, Eli and Maki. In Aquors, my top 3 is You, Kanan and Dia (though Mari and Chika are also very lovable).
Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Makipana! Itā€™s very very cute. I also quite like HonoEli. HonoMaki is also quite nice. In Aquors, YouKanan or DiaKanan.Ā
Least Favorite Female Character: Not unpopular by any means, but Ni//co Ya//za//wa. In terms of singing voice, Kotori. In Aquors, R//i//k//o S//a//k//u//r//a//u//c//h//i.Ā
Least Favorite Slash Ship (both M/M and F/F): Ni//co//ma//ki??? I will never understand why people like it. In Aquors, Chi//ka//ri//ko and You//ri//ko.Ā
Dirty Little Secret: I quite like A-RISE. Every song theyā€™ve ever done is an absolute banger, as the youth says.
Unpopular Opinion(s): would you look at that. Another fandom where Iā€™m the monarch of rarepairs.

Bio:
So, Iā€™ve been into this series for a little over 12 years at this point, and needless to say, it was literally my childhood. Ā When I turned seven years old, I got my first gaming system -a PlayStation 2- and the first video game I ever owned, Jak 3.
So I fell in love with the game, and I of course sought to own, and play, the whole series (when I was first playing the games, I played the third, fourth, first, and then the second game, in that order). Ā When I was about nine some things went down that caused me, along with my brothers, to have to move out of state to live with our grandparents, thus forcing me to leave my PS2 behind.
So for about eight years I've been waiting to play the games again, and of course, I lost my mind when I heard that they were being ported to the PS4. Ā They're literally the only reason I bought a PS4 to begin with! I've played all the games in the series except for Daxter and The Lost Frontier (the latter of which I'd only found out about last December, thanks to Wikipedia), but weirdly enough I couldnā€™t remember much of anything about the games after a year or two of not playing them (until I started playing them again in December 2017, of course!).
Currently, Iā€™ve completed the whole trilogy, as well as X. Ā I'm more than open to discuss any of the three, so feel free to chat with me about them!
Sly Cooper Shitposts
Bio:
I got into the Sly series somewhat recently (July 3, 2018).Ā  Since then, itā€™s been one of my favorite series, and one of the only series I play.Ā  I donā€™t really have much else to add here, other than this: if youā€™ve never played these games, either play them or watch a letā€™s play (play them if you can though).Ā  The entire trilogy can be found on Playstation Now if you have a PS4 and donā€™t want to hunt down a PS2 and all the games just to play them.
Ratchet & Clank Shitposting
Bio:
Like the Sly games, I got into this series pretty recently (March 26, 2018).Ā  At the time I was looking to try out some PS2-era franchises similar to the Jak and Daxter series, which is why I initially tried these games out.Ā  My first R&C game I played was the 2016 reboot, and while the humor, characters and all that werenā€™t the best, it was really fun to play and got me wanting to play the older games.Ā  After a couple months or so I played some of the earlier games on PSN (Quest for Booty, Crack in Time, and Into the Nexus) and enjoyed them a LOT more than the reboot overall (mostly CiT though, since although I played QfB I didnā€™t especially care about it, and I enjoyed the intro for ItN a lot but got bored with it).

Bio:
Iā€™ve known about Hamilton since mid-2016 (thanks to a former friend of mine), but IĀ actually kind of hated it for a while, because of said friend (letā€™s just say that she constantly shoved Hamilton content in my face without properly introducing me to the musical first).
It wasnā€™t until last December (December 2017) that I finally got interested in the musical.Ā  My brother who lives out-of-state was visiting for the holidays, and he literally blasted Alexander Hamilton and Non-Stop in the house several times during his stay.Ā  After listening to them a few times I actually really liked them (especially Non-Stop), so when I got some free time (sometime on 1/14/18, since of course I still remember the exact day I got into Hamilton), I decided to listen to the whole musical, and I loved it.
Now pretty much all I listen to is Hamilton.Ā  I know Iā€™m going to say this at the end of all these other bios, but seriously, if you want to talk to me about Hamilton, message me.

Bio:
So to start off, I thought Iā€™d just say that Iā€™ve only ever watched the films, but I haveĀ read a tiny bit of the comics as well.
I got into the franchise in early June last year (2017) when I saw Guardians 2 with a friend, and let me tell you, I really wanted to see it, despite not caring about the series at all. Ā If I didn't care about the series at the time, why did I want to see the movie so badly? Ā Well, let's just say that I only wanted to see it for that sweet, sweet "plot" if you know what I mean. šŸ‘€ Ā  I also just needed something to distract me at the time, since I had been going through some really difficult stuff around that time (I plan on making a post about what happened at some point, so if I do, then youā€™ll be able to find it here). Ā Once it was over I fell in love with the characters, and the franchise overall, since the second film had not only far exceeded my expectations, but it also helped me cope with the bad stuff that had happened to me not too long before.
Feel free to discuss the series with me, since Iā€™m usually more than happy to talk about it.Ā  Thanks in advance!

Favorite Characters (Characters that are crossed out are characters that I donā€™t like):
Apollo Justice
Bio:
Iā€™ve been into this series for about two... actually, almost three years now! (where has all that time gone?).
My brother actually got me into this series!Ā  I watched him play Rise From the Ashes one night (I think it was somewhere around March 2015), and I was kind of interested in trying it out after that (although I kept my mouth shut about wanting to try it, since I was reallyĀ self-conscious about trying new things at the time).
I didnā€™t get to actually play Ace Attorney until mid-June that year, when my brother one day shoved his 3DS in my hands, telling me to play First Turnabout.Ā  After playing through the whole case, I got obsessed, and I was also really excited, since he was going to buy the trilogy for me on our Wii (he didnā€™t live with us, so he couldnā€™t let me play the games on his DS).Ā  I didnā€™t officially get into the series until July 2nd that year, which is when I started playing the trilogy on our Wii.
I completed the first game in three days, and I was obsessed with Ace Attorney for about a year and a half after that (I think thatā€™s the longest that any obsession of mine has ever been my,Ā ā€œMain Obsessionā€).Ā  I also had a huge overblown crush on Phoenix most of that time (which is surprising in hindsight, since I couldnā€™t care less about him anymore).
Iā€™m now just a casual fan of the series, and Iā€™m down to discuss Spirit of Justice any time (since itā€™s my favorite game in the series), but I donā€™t really care to discuss the others (not usually, anyways).Ā  So anyways, thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my blog!

Iā€™ve been intoĀ PokĆ©mon for as long as I can remember.Ā  I know that Iā€™ve been into it for at least 13 years, but I feel like Iā€™ve liked it for much longer.
I didnā€™t start to reallyĀ obsess over it until the age of 11, after getting Explorers of Sky for my birthday (one of the Mystery Dungeon games).Ā  Once Gen. 5 had started, I only got moreĀ intoĀ PokĆ©mon.Ā  I mostly collected the cards, but I did also play a lot of Rumble Blast.Ā  And let me just say, I was honestly so into the TCG, that it was kind of unhealthy.
I lost interest in the franchise for a little over a year, starting at the age of 13 (thanks to My Little Pony), but once I stopped liking MLP, I just went right back to obsessing over PokĆ©mon, but with a bit less emphasis on the cards, and more on the games (Who am I kidding?Ā  I was still immersed in the TCG world at this time!Ā  Just, not quiteĀ as much as before).
After about a year of being addicted to PokƩmon (again), I started to become more of a casual fan of the series, turning my interest towards other things (i.e., Ace Attorney and Steven Universe).
It wasnā€™t until I started playing Sun (a month after it released) that I started obsessing over the franchise (for the third time).Ā  I became a casual fan again soon after finishing the game, which was somewhere in early March of 2017.
Currently, Iā€™m just a casual fan of the series (aside from my several characters, who Iā€™ve had around for three years at this point).Ā  I canā€™t really suggest you trying to discussĀ PokĆ©mon with me, since I amĀ just a casual fan nowadays (Unless if you want to know about my characters I mentioned!).Ā  Thanks for reading!
