Honestly, I can't stress enough how important the theme of family is in mdzs. IMO it is the main theme of the book. Of course romance and devotion is important, but there's something so special about the way families are portrayed in mdzs and how important they are. (I watched donghua and read some of manhua btw)
Let's start with sibling relationships:
The whole plot started because of love for a brother and rage for how unjust his death was. The whole Cloud Recesses arc is an amazing set up for Wangxian etc, but it also shows the complicated yet sweet relationship between WWX and JC. How they both care so much about each other, how they tease each other. IMO JC did see WWX as a brother and loved him as such. Every time he scolds Wei Ying, it's always about Wei Ying's safety. Usually it's not "How dare you use demonic cultivation, you're gonna get our clan in danger", it's " If you keep it up, I won't be able to protect you". Even during the Wen invasion, the they're still together, they sacrifice themselves to save another. And don't get me started about Jiang Yanli, she loves her brothers very much. Despite Madam Yu creating a competition between the boys or Jiang Fengmian's lack of action and even enablement of WWX' dangerous and irresponsible behavior, they still love each other. I can ramble about yunmeng trio so much, but in short despite everything they went through, they cared for each other deeply. After Jiang Yanli's death everything changes, because imo the boys fully internalized Madam Yu's last words. WWX bring pain and destruction to Yunmeng. I think I need to stop, or we'll be here all day.
Or, another example: Nie bros. Nie Mingjue had to basically raise A-sang. They do deeply care about each other, and despite everything they'll be here for each other. Yet the desire to protect NHS from sad reality of golden core and qi deviation, their relationship soured a little. But it's obvious even for an outsider like WWX, that NMJ loves his brother. He pressures NHS, because he feels that he's starting to lose it. He wants to prepare his little bro to be a decent leader and to live without him. And NHS literally makes it his life mission to avenge his Dage even if it means having a blood on his hands.
Lan brothers show a good brother relationship. Lan Xichen supports LWJ in everything he does. Even his love for WWX. He gets protective, when he thinks WWX is laughing at LWJ's feelings. Lan Zhan is deeply saddened when his brother is missing and helps him discover the truth about his best friend's death. They're almost perfect siblings. (Plus they're super funny when drunk).
MXTX deserves an award for writing so many different sibling dynamics. And that's not all, she also portrays this different parental relationship so interesting.
Like, the nephews you didn't want, but care so much about, that you don't want them to suffer like their father did (Lan Qiren and this family drama); the kid of your husband's unrequited love, whom he seemingly loves more than your own children (Yunmeng Jiang happy house), JGS and the myriad of the kids he has ect. I love this variety so much.
I just love so much how MDZS has so much themes. Every time I think about MDZS, I find more and more interesting points and moments that change my perception of the characters. Every character is so humain and has their own motivation, that I can't truly hate some of them (apart from Wen Chao, his mistress and JGS, they suck).
TLDR: MXTX is a queen of writing complex human characters.

Not her coming out with an album with a long ass title. She wants to be Lana so bad. SZA was robbed for AOTY, Kelly Clarkson was robbed for best pop VOCAL album (I mean, c'mon now).
Scammys are constantly snubbing Black creators in the major categories. Only 3 black women have won AOTY in the 66 years of the Grammys existence. Two of those albums were cover albums of mainly white acts ( Unforgettable...with Love by Natalie Cole and The Bodyguard Soundtrack by Whitney Houston). The last BW that won AOTY was Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" which won 25 YEARS AGO.Even Mariah Carey hadn't won this category. What baffles me the most is the fact that the most awarded artist in the Grammys history hadn't won a single one AOTY and only has 1 (ONE!) award from the big 4 (Record of the year, Song of the Year, Album of the year and best new artist). She'd won it for Single Ladies. Out of all the hit songs she has, that was the only one that got awarded (imo one of her worst songs).
Renaissance got snubbed last year. And this year we see a tendency of streaming artists (Ariana's newest song comes to mind first) following the Renaissance's sound and house music's becoming trendy again. The Grammy voters even said 'We didn't vote for Beyonce on AOTY because she's won too many already'. Too many my ass. This woman's won only one Grammy outside of the genre category. And the genre categories they put black and brown people in are truly outrageous. No matter what they do, no matter how many new sounds and sub genres they invent, they will always be boxed into R&B and Urban categories. I mean, her country song from 'Lemonade' album 'Daddy Lessons' got snubbed in the country category and got rejected a nomination for being 'not country enough'. Bitch, please. From the first five seconds it's obvious to even non-country listener that it in fact, is a country song. And people that vote for this stuff are supposedly professional musicians and music experts. These same people box The Weeknd's music into R&B categories when he's clearly making pop music.
Jay-Z's speech was just a cherry on top for me. After Swift in her acceptance speech said that " I want to say 'thank you' to the members of the recording academy for voting this way but I know that the way that the recording academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans" while smugly polishing the Grammy, this man went on stage to get his lifetime achievement thingy and completely obliterated the same institution that Swift was ass kissing just a few minutes prior. He went on and said: " We want y'all to get it right. At least get it close to right. And obviously it's subjective because it's music and it's opinion based. [About his wife] She has more Grammys than everyone and never won AOTY so even by your own metrics that doesn't work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won AOTY. That doesn't work. Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you've been robbed. Some of you may get robbed, some of you don't belong in the category. *everyone gags* No, no. When I get nervous... I tell the truth. But outside of that, we got to keep showing up. And forget the Grammys for a second, just in life, you gotta keep showing up until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve, until they call you chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time". To me that sounds like "POC have to work twice as hard to get half as far". Not a big Jay fan but the speech was great. I'm sure he got his ass whooped on the way home for saying that.
Then the Grammys have proven him right by celebrating white mediocrity by giving Midnights AOTY. The outrageous thing is, only three Black women have won AOTY, she now has four. And many talented black people don't have a single one. The bodies of work that transcend genres, cultures and languages. The bodies of work that have much better musical components and lyrical content. The bodies of work that can stand the test of times and sound fresh and new even 10 years after their release. Artists that aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zone, experiment with genres (Whatever Swift calls 'experiments' don't go outside of the pop genre (Country-pop (Red), synth-pop (1989, Lover), electropop (rep, Lover), acoustic pop and alt-pop (Folkmore)). Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, TLC, Missy Elliott, Usher, Kanye (his artistic side), Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, and many more black music creators deserve their flowers. They are the ones that are inventing new shit and setting trends in various genres of music, they are the ones that put the most effort into their presentation and live performances. I'm sick and tired of the major showbiz institutions overlooking black, brown, asian, indigenous excellence. These people deserve to be rewarded for their hard work in the same capacity these institutions reward white (anglo) people. I'm sick of people celebrating white mediocrity and overlooking art of different cultures, ethnicities, races.
Now she's gonna be insufferable for at least another year. I've been listening and enjoying her music for the past 5-6 years (not a fan but a casual listener) for the lyrical content of her songs but she's not a poet in any way. Lana's been a staple for me in that regard. And the fact that she dragged her on stage to have that "Adele to Beyonce" moment just gave me the ick. I wouldn't be surprised if Swifties are taking Jay-Z's speech as a sub for TS's wins (haven't gone on twitter yet). I mean, if the shoe fits. Also wouldn't be surprised if she herself took it as a jab to her ego. She's also clearly drunk and possibly on some ❄️ (just my opinion). The only deserved AOTY she has is the Folklore one. And don't get me started on her EMMY win. The fact that a visual masterpieces like Lemonade and Homecoming lost to Carpool Karaoke is absolutely absurd to me. Also the fact that her visual album for her "Lion King" project wasn't even nominated when every single one of those in the category were comedy specials is especially infuriating (If anyone's interested, some of the music videos are up on Youtube). And Swift comes along and swoops up hers in a bullshit category with no actual nominees? Nah, things don't work like that. Or at least, they shouldn't.
Anyway, SZA and Lana were robbed. Victoria Monet's won Best New Artist, Miley got her first win, Phoebe Bridgers went home with the most wins of the night and everyone only talks about Taylor Swift. I'm patiently waiting for the tower to fall. She desperately needs a reality check. This drunkard didn't even acknowledge Celine Dion who handed her the award. I mean, she didn't even look at her. But proceeded to have a cringe and unnecessary handshake with Jack Antonoff. You're in a professional setting, behave like an adult and save those handshakes for the afterparty or do it behind the stage after giving a speech. She proceeded to drag Lana on stage to the point where she was trying not to fall. At this point I'm convinced that swifties have brainwashed her into the thinking that the nicest thing she can do for someone is grace them with her presence. Ana Clara's family serves as a great example.
Her hair was a miss, she looked like she was wearing a wedding gown and the black gloves didn't help. Her make up made her look old. Her accessories were excessive and tacky and it looked like she was also wearing hip pads, shoes were giving late 00s-early 10s. Overall, fire the whole styling team. You're a global superstar that's a billionaire and you look cheap as fuck.
TL;DR : She shouldn't have won. Lana and SZA were robbed. She once again made the night about herself and her narcissism peaked in the moments where she'd accepted her awards. Black creators are criminally overlooked. She ass kissed the grammy voters and Jay-Z shamed them just a few minutes later and was right. She needs to get rid of her stylist, hair stylist and make up artist. Another drunk award show. Beyonce should have at least one AOTY. Sick and tired of people celebrating white mediocrity in show business.
Sorry for the long ass paragraph, just felt like it was a safe space to vent 💜
you guys can vent all you want. I'm here for it🤏

There's one storyline that's really had me invested from the start: Seung Hyo and his childhood neglect.
I have a lot of feelings about it. Asian parents who provided a child with everything on paper but couldn't give him anything emotionally - damn it's a miracle Seunghyo turned out well. Also, in most cases these parents almost always expect an award for giving their child 'every thing they could ever asked for' and the child is considered ungrateful if they do end up expressing the big gap of love they persistently felt in their lives.
I enjoyed how they dealt with it. I just wish Seung Hyo was crying when he confronted his parents at the temple (such a missed opportunity imo). Anywho, I picked up on something in episode 15 that I wish was addressed. I wanted to put it out there to get everyone's thoughts on this.
I believe during Misuk and Hyesuk's conversation at the roof top, it's the first time Seunghyo realises or learns that Misuk was paid by his parents to care for him. Now, it's completely logical and he may be more emotionally mature than I am - but you tell me the next door neighbour who I adore more than my own mother because she took care of me, fed, met my needs as a child - needs my mother fell short of- got PAID to love me...... Ooooffff that's gotta hurt a lil. I'm thinking more also with the knowledge that this is a child who's heard his mother wish she didn't have him. Wouldn't it hurt him to know? 'Ah now it all makes sense this is why she took care of me all this time. She was paid. Who would love me because I exist? I knew I was never lovable.'
I half prayed for Seung Hyo not to be listening in on the conversation. I wanted him to remain blissfully unaware of this. Cause I need him to know he deserves to be loved. So imagine my shock when we cut to SeungHyo and Seok Ryu and she's the one who's crying (no offense to her of course). If I was Seung Hyo, I'd have needed a moment to myself after learning this. Emotional trauma is scary. It affects you at the scariest of times and can be triggered by the smallest of things. Emotional trauma also, is not healed by a single hug and confrontational conversation in the woods. I know he's mature and 34 but learning this must've hurt. It must've reaffirmed some of the many thoughts he had while growing up. I know he'd later realize yes she deserved the extra incentive cause it is a lot of 'priceless' work. He would realize that it is just that: extra incentive, cause his mom felt bad, that Misuk truly does adore him but these realizations must come later.
I know he'll be okay with it cause he'll be thinking there's no point being upset over it now but didn't he at least once thing 'Wow, my mom could pay her cause that was convenient but couldn't bother to be next to me? She really must not have wanted me.'
#Seunghyo had it tough#just a small scene would have been enough#but they brushed over it like nothing#i think I'll need to write a fanfic to fix it now huh#i feel so sorry for my boi#seokryu please be good to him#love next door#seung hyo x seok ryu#jung hae in#jung so min

Meghan reportedly acted like a diva on the set of SUITS, was nasty to a bunch of her fellow SUITS co-stars and didn't invite them to her Royal wedding reception. Fast forward a few years, Meghan finds herself excluded from attending/presenting awards with her former SUITS co-stars at the Golden Globes. Meghan is a classic example of the saying "be nice to those you meet on the way up because you will meet them on the way down."
Hi Nonny,
She is a very good example of why being nice to people is always a good idea. The Golden Globes was poetic justice imo - Meghan scorned her costars when she was riding high, and now she is not included when she desperately needs an event like that for her brand. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.

Peach, you're the best! Thank you for posting that amazing pasta art! (And thank you to the lovely artist who made it =)) - Mrs Pasta.
That being said...I have a few things to say. No words of wisdom, just some thoughts. Some people will disagree with my takes but if you're here reading it, read it carefully and really consider what I said before you disregard.
Every time something happens that gets a certain portion of fans excited that "it's coming to an end," it is nearly always (99.9) followed by something that completely disputes that hope and gets everyone angry, upset, and riled up. It's time to pick up on the patterns, guys!
Ramen and Soba attended the GG afterparty for Soba's agency but didn't show up for the red carpet or awards show. It's got some people thinking Ramen fell off on the HW hierarchy food chain but people. Please. Let's be honest with ourselves here. Did they not attend because he couldn't get an invite since he's "so irrelevant" now or did they not attend because them trying to act like they know each other in real time, for the camera, would be a feat harder than climbing Mt. Everest? Why else do y'all think Soba attended the GQ event with Cup of Noodles instead? You know, the one where she actually did pose for photos and walk the red carpet? And flash her loaned jewelry and "wedding ring" but refused to speak to reporters because she had nothing to promote? It's giving "a...weird face wife that will never do an interview" XD
Every time something happens that gives another portion of fans the chance to "gloat," something else happens to throw a wrench into the mix. You don't question why only one "director" got a random picture of soba and ramen in the same bowl but nobody else saw them? And they can only be mentioned in a throwaway line by a Condé Nast publication (Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ) and neither Ramen nor Soba could spring for a stylist this time? Looks like somebody doesn't want to make that red carpet debut...but why not? Aren't y'all married for the 50th time in a year and also expecting for the 20th time in the past two years?
Lastly. Just because Ramen has had a few pitfalls this past year does not mean that suddenly he's dropped to C-D list and that he's completely irrelevant in the industry now. I understand having critical flops can hurt your career. Of course it can. And in fact, I'm sure these pitfalls have hurt him. But remember that just because someone is doing well now doesn't mean they'll always do well, and just because someone is having a rough few years doesn't mean they'll never get a comeback.
I'd also like to close with a reminder to those gloating on about how RDJ is doing better and Ramen is failing in life...RDJ was once a drug addict and ended up in jail. My parents still mention this about him every time they see him on TV....people do remember when the biggest news of his career was him getting arrested. Also, after Endgame? Does anyone remember Doolittle? 15% on rotten tomatoes had people thinking RDJ fell off. And then covid hit and he was just doing his own thing for a few years. Now look at him. Looks like that awards campaigning worked! Because no disrespect, Robert, but your Oppenheimer performance was lukewarm at best. IMO, You deserved it more for Tropic Thunder and I say that as someone who genuinely admires you.
I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers. It's just tiring to see people ignore certain things for the sake of running with a narrative.
Love ya, Peach!
Mrs. Pasta, thank you for gracing us with your presence twice today. I honestly, have nothing to add to this great observation. I was just talking about a lot of these points earlier with some mutual about a certain even with a super shiny watch 🤭 I honestly never thought about equating Katt’s words about weird faced wife that will never give an interview to this 😵💫 but your’e on to something there!
Looks like someone reached into the depths of their closet to try and scrounge up a look last week, but what do I know?
Mrs. Pasta, I always look forward to your takes and observations.
@inshelliesworld created some cute little Mrs. Pasta art 😊

@sam-is-my-safe-word
Okay, you asked for it-- my semi-organized heart-eyed rant about the glory that is Dean Winchester.
First of all, he is almost inhumanly gorgeous. Like, Michaelangelo would've wanted to sculpt him but might not have felt himself worthy of the job. Not just in a generally attractive sense, but . . . my celebrity lust objects include Ewan McGregor and Chris Evans. I have a type and Mr. Ackles fits it almost exactly.
Secondly, Dean and I have a few things in common. Raised in poverty by an overwhelmed and undersupported single parent, forever feeling overshadowed by our more intelligent and more accepted younger siblings, didn't fit in with our peers or really thrive in school despite being constantly told how intelligent we were and how we had so much potential. We're both oldest siblings, both Aquariuses (Aquarii? his birthday's the 24th and mine's the 28th), and both of us had adult worries when we should've been preoccupied with friends and grades. (In the interests of fairness-- my family wasn't nearly as badly off, my sister wasn't so young she needed babysat, and I didn't handle being the mature one nearly as well as Dean did.)
Thirdly, there's a lot about Ackles's performance that just rings true to me. Constantly assuring himself that his father's the greatest man ever despite knowing full fucking well he wasn't, having a complicated relationship with his own exploitation, even the way he's trained himself to live without hopes or dreams. The cognitive dissonance he uses just to keep himself from going crazy feels correct in a way that in Sam sometimes rings false.
There's a bit in Orson Scott Card's afterward to his novelization of The Abyss, in praise of Ed Harris's performance as Bud Brigman. "From the moment he steps on screen, Harris's Bud is alert and alive. Harris gave Bud gestures, mannerisms, turns of phrase. Harris opened up Bud's soul for me." That's what Ackles does for Dean, and it's frustrating that, because professional awards are allergic to fantasy fiction that's not Game Of Thrones, he never got the recognition he deserved.
And Castiel called it in his famous final scene-- Dean's mistakes are made from a place of genuine caring. Even when he lies, it's out of a sense of protectiveness most of the time. Dean doesn't beat himself up over the enemies he can't defeat; he kills himself over the people he can't save.
A quick side-note-- I think people read a lot of Dean's subtler mannerisms as repressed bi- or homosexuality. IMO, those habits aren't exclusive to people who grew up queer in a queer-hating environment (John being a child of the 50's and ex-military, it wouldn't shock me at all if he was the type of father who made it clear men in same sex relationships was Not Fucking Acceptable). What they are characteristic of is someone who lives in eternal doubt of their right to just exist, and that's Dean all the way to the fingernails. Ever since he was four, the question, "Why Mom and not me?" would be quivering in the back of his mind. The incident with the Shtriga when John blames Dean for his own failure as a parent (which by the way if Dean had fired that shotgun he would've hit Sam, fuck you John Winchester you should never have left them alone in the first fucking place) and how Dean never accepts any kind of rebuttal on the subject of guilt-- Dean's defined by survivor's guilt and an eternal sense of failure, and his Hunting life can be read as an open courtship of death because he sees himself as an uncorrected mistake.
I could go on but those are the high points. Course a lot of those same points could be made about Sam. The ridiculously awesome thing about Supernatural is both the leads -- and this can be applied to most of the supporting characters, just about everybody is perfectly cast -- embody their characters so perfectly, everybody can catch something to care passionately about.

Tbh I don’t think her lyrics were ever good. I think they were heavily edited from the trash were seeing now into the easily digestible radio edits that were released. I think it’s more noticeable now because it’s a dog pile of 15 years still writing the same songs and now, shes deadest on doing every thing herself. She openly stopped taking edits and criticism. The people who made her marketable are gone and all she has left is people who worship the money and clout; they wouldn’t dare question the spoiled brat who could sic her cult on them for just breathing wrong next to her. This album is the best representation of who she is IMO: a talentless, bigoted, sadist who never grew up.
Back when she actually was a teenager, her music was okay imo. I even liked it when I was 14/15. Because at that age, it was relatable and fun and fit with where I was in life. The difference is that I grew up, and she didn't.
And part of that, I genuinely believe, was the original Kanye incident. Because when he jumped on stage to take the mic from her, everyone collectively went "poor Taylor!". Which, at the time, was warranted - she was only like 19 when that happened. A young adult who was relatively new to her fame getting overtaken by an okder adult man to yell about how she didn't deserve her award. That was inappropriate, and I can see how it would be deeply disturbing for her at the time. But the problem is, she never moved on from being the victim. After that incident she was publicly known as "poor Taylor who got mistreated by Kanye", and she decided she liked being "poor Taylor". So now she's the victim in every situation, and nobody is willing to tell her otherwise. She'll fire any of her crew who crosses her, and her fans are largely yes men. So she has no incentive to grow as a person or an artist.
So when she decided to dip her toes into social justice a few years ago, she was still more or less that wildly out of touch 19yo that she was when she first became a victim. So all of her attempts at everything are through the juvenile filter she's still stuck in.
Her music was okay when she was a teenager, because it was age appropriate, even if it was a little cringy. Every teenager is cringey - it's part of growing up, and there's a certain nostalgia in our cringe years. We sucked, but we were trying our best, and we learned a lot and hopefully had some good times among the bad before we learned how to be adults.
But at some point we have to grow up. And the further Taylor Swift gets away from being 17, the more awful and unbearable her 17yo-esque lyrics get. Because she's not relatably cringey anymore, she's just embarrassing and immature. It's the difference between taking your 13yo sibling to the mall with you and your friends knowing they're going to be very *13* about everything, vs inviting your 33yo sibling who ACTS 13. One is cringe but age appropriate. The other is embarrassing, tacky, and classless, and shows a complete lack of self or social awareness.

Andrea didn't buy it, she received a campaign from people in the industry, friends/ This is a very insightful discourse, but personally to me it's still buying, because is still cheating and it opens up a conversation about whether awards are actually given to the deserving or asked for by friends. Whatever way you look at it, it's a bad look, imo, of course.
Well yeah, the fact that some projects are privileged just because they are backed by rich studios is already not fair
The oscars are not completely about the quality of the performance sadly

What do you think about Angela Basset receiving an honorary Oscar? To me it feels like a pity award and admittance that she deserved it in the first place .
https://variety.com/2023/film/awards/angela-bassett-mel-brooks-governors-awards-honorary-oscars-1235654578/amp/
Imo that is an insult. 😒
The Academy knows good and well that they blatantly SNUBBED Angela Bassett at this year's Academy Awards, and I won't be forgetting that. 😤
Truth be told, they really should have given her the Best Actress award for "What's Love Got to Do With It", but at the VERY least, they could made right by giving her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar this year imo.
Nothing against JLC (I like her as an actress too), but this award should have gone to Angela this year, if ANYTHING for the fact that she should have won decades ago.
The saddest part to me is that not only did she have her husband there, but she also brought her CHILDREN, which was a sign to me that she must have really felt like she was actually going to win!
She was also winning quite a few of the awards during the awards season circuit this year, so it wasn't even like she didn't have a prayer in winning this year.
This part of the article just takes the cake:
Yet you've snubbed her at least TWICE for an award that she was actually deserving of that year. 🙄

i was asking for your take out of genuine curiosity so maybe don’t such a holier than thou know it all attitude with people who dare offer a different viewpoint? i was offering my *opinion* and some hypotheticals on the situation and you’re freaking out at me asserting things as facts when at the end of the day you know these people just as well as i do- that is not at all since we’re strangers to them.
but to my actual point. if austin does indeed feel trapped, is miserable, this whole “situationship” is draining him, he’s gaining nothing…and kate isn’t doing everything in her power to get him out of that situation as opposed to just “correcting the record” on odd occasion she is unfortunately, imo, no friend or ally to him. i didn’t think that was a controversial take. and my opinion on all this at all just comes from thinking that to really analyze it we need to look at both sides contributing, not give one all the power while letting the other off the responsibility hook completely. i like austin plenty so please don’t treat me like a bad/stupid fan for being slightly critical.
just trying to birds eye view things here. again- if he’s gaining absolutely nothing but suffering, why is his team allowing it to continue? The Lede Company is an awarded PR firm staffed by industry lauded professionals. kate, who also works for riley keough who seems to really adore her, nor anyone else working there is a rookie that i can see just shrugging their shoulders and allowing their clients to needlessly suffer. that’s not what they’re payed the big bucks for.
i see you're back for round two. you say i've got a holier than thou attitude when you literally came waltzing into my DMs with an agenda, trying to poke the finger at me and accusing me of giving austin the slide but meanwhile giving kaia the brunt of the accosting that you seem to think she doesn't deserve. also, you are not helping your case at all by saying outlandish shit like he's being groomed to take on rande's business as if he is already his son-in-law, and austin is nothing but a freeloader to this family. what do you think this is, an episode of As The World Turns? seriously, you have some nerve coming to me with your nose high in the air with this snobbery attitude, and you have the fucking balls to say that i am holier than thou?
i have given my opinions on this matter for the last year now, and i have spoken about this exact thing with his PR team and her PR team at length. you would not have come in my DMs the way you did if it was out of friendly banter. everybody knows i am open to discussion. but you came at me sideways with your bullshit that i smelled a mile away and i have my right to give it right back to you. you must think i was born yesterday to not understand the nuance of how you were asking me your question. i don't owe you a damn thing. and clearly you are willing to give kaia all the grace in the world but put austin under the microscope that he does not deserve. he has a great PR team and my point, if you cared to read it, was that his team DON'T step in at all to guide him in these matters. they seem to let austin do his thing within reason, unless they have to come in and set the record straight. so WE AGREE, moron. it is HER team that does a great deal of the string pulling. so you are once again making a damn fool of yourself by coming back to my blog not satisfied in the original answer i gave you. well that's too bad because i gave you an answer and it's not my fault that you didn't like it.
i am not entertaining your snooty, nose in the air, fake "i just wanted to know your opinion" bullshit. you must not know me because i ain't backing down on this one. you started this and this is me finishing it. if you can't comprehend what im saying, when i gave you a response last time in regards to his PR team and now a second response, then you're nothing but an instigator.

did you watch the new abbott ep? thoughts?
I did! I was kind of 50/50 on it. Sorry in advance for rambling LOL
I feel like the double episode format just... Really messed up the pacing. Way too much happened in way too little time, so there was nothing satisfying and the stakes didn't feel very high. I think there were also some big missed opportunities.
"New Ava" gets resolved in like the first 10 min with 0 impact on the overall story or the characters... like why. This should have been dragged out for the whole episode IMO, it would have been so fun. But they just wanted to get it out of the way to race to the Janine-leaving-Abbott story. Also Janelle looked fucking amazing and pretty much stole the episode, so they should have just let her run away with it instead of confining the humor and drama to the very beginning.
"Oh no Janine went to work for the district, oh no Teddie isn't going to happen maybe, omg Janine is working with a new cute guy" doesn't generate any emotional tension because it all gets talked through by the characters in a short time span and Janine and Gregory are friends again by the end of the episode thanks to the timeskip. The will they/won't they was timed really well throughout the first 2 seasons so where is that sense of timing now yk...
Barbara like... did not do much to be honest... She resolved the New Ava problem, but after that mostly stood around and was a sounding board and complained about the district/changed her tune after ONE conversation where Manny said what could reasonably be, pardon me, just bullshit, bc we don't know him well as a character yet, and somehow Barb was like yay :) I like the district now :). She felt really underutilized. She deserves a PLOTLINE this season. I feel like Sheryl gets a lot of praise and attention, but the show doesn't always give her opportunities to match what she really contributes.
The Gary/Melissa situation ground my gears a lot, like it's super great that Melissa stands her ground and rejects him with everyone's support, but tbh "Gary does a massive misogyny using the Philly Eagles and the whole school as a prop" seemed like a moment for Melissa to be angry, not just sad. Like why did she end up comforting HIM? I feel like every time the show brushes up against misogyny something dumb like this happens
Jacob is Jacob and does Jacob things which is fine.
I'm also wondering: where is the charter school storyline??? Have they not been able to get Leslie Odom Jr back? They set him up as a Big Bad and the threat of Abbott being forcibly turned charter as a serious concern and then that completely vanished. Does ABC have some charter school people on its board...? Lol. I would love to find out if maybe Manny and his weirdos could play into this and turn out to be charter school villains but rn this just feels like a major loose end.
It's hard bc I have such a sentimental attachment to the characters and seeing them all back again was so nice. But this felt like a super clumsy start to the season. I'm sure there was a lot of pressure on the writers as well, not just in terms of the double episode format, but because the show has gotten so many awards and so much press, they may have felt they HAD to throw absolutely everything out there to build up the premiere as huge and explosive.
I'm hoping the return to the half hr format will help smooth out a lot of the wrinkles and help bring back some of the structure, because IMO there were definitely hiccups and missteps in past seasons, but you could really feel an underlying story structure for many parts of the show (Teddie, Barb and Janine's relationship, Ava's growth, Melissa and her personal life). Fingers crossed ig

Thoughts on the oscar noms? (…and the current drama surrounding it)
Honestly, I need people to realize that Barbie was a cute movie that was ultimately meant to sell Barbie dolls. It had a great set design, really cool visuals and costumes, some fun jokes, and a very good performance from Ryan Gosling. I think Greta being snubbed is weird because the movie was very CLEARLY. DIRECTED. But then again, Wes Anderson does that a lot to mixed results with the Academy, so. A very clear and strong eye does not always please them. If we're gonna talk about women (because apparently the Oscars allow only one lady director) who directed films very smartly, I would say that Celine Song is a better choice. Past Lives was such a good movie, and I think her direction really helped communicate a story in which a lot was left unsaid, pairing well with the actors.
And I'll be real... I need people to get that the movie was always more about Ken. Ken had the best script. Ken had the best arc. Is that right, for a Barbie movie? I don't know, dude. But I frankly don't blame the Academy for nominating Ryan and not Margot, because Margot had nothing great to do and she didn't elevate the material. She was good, she was charming. Ryan was performing a lot more. I like America btw, but I don't get that nom lol.
Also, stop complaining about I'm Just Ken, it was great, let us have fun song nominees.
Best Picture: I don't know why Barbie is there, the Oppenheimer sweep has been boring and though I liked the movie, as a film it was absolutely nothing without Cillian and to me that does not a Best Picture make, Killers of the Flower Moon or American Fiction should win but won't, Maestro is a joke, Past Lives deserves but also deserves more noms, haven't seen Poor Things, Anatomy of a Fall, or Zone of Interest (though at least filmtwt can stop complaining about it not being well-marketed for the Academy) yet. I liked The Holdovers, but that was before I found out the director is uhhhhh a very very bad man.
Best Actor: Leo was snubbed and I do think him campaigning for Lily so hard had something to do with it but that was legit one of his most interesting, un-Leo performances; Bradley is a joke; happy for Colman but haven't seen Rustin yet; Cillian should win and I think he will but Paul G could dark horse it--I don't think his performance was Oscar-worthy but he was good and he's been picking up his fair share of awards; Jeffrey Wright was amazing in American Fiction and if anyone should dark horse it it's him. I'd still give it to Cillian. If this was up to me, I'd toss out Bradley and throw in Teo Yoo, who was so so good in Past Lives. But the Academy is sending a HARD backlash message to Asian creatives after the EEAAO sweep, imo.
Best Actress: As I said, I don't care that Margot wasn't nominated and I don't think she should've been, and imo her best performance was easily I, Tonya; I haven't seen Nyad so no comment on Annette, same with Sandra for Anatomy, and I think Carey had moments in Maestro but she overall was not one of those "standouts in a horrible movie" actors; Lily should win and absolutely killed her performance and dominated her movie, but I am worried that Emma could take it. I'd toss out Carey for Greta Lee.
Best Supporting Actor: Everyone needs to stop saying Sterling snuck in because he was deeply moving in American Fiction and is lowkey highkey one of the best actors working right now; RDJ basically just did Leslie Odom Jr. in Hamilton and F. Murray Abraham in Amadeus but with his RDJ cadence of speaking he can't drop to save his life, but he's taking this for a career Oscar; I hate that Charles isn't there, but if it wasn't him I'd give it to Sterling or De Niro, who gave one of my favorite performances in his career and was SO disgusting and menacing in Killers. Haven't seen Ruffalo, so if it was up to me depending on his performance I'd toss out RDJ for Charles Melton and possibly shuffle some other people around.
Best Supporting Actress: Lol Emily was horrible in Oppenheimer and I'll die on that hill, generally liking her as an actress; Da'Vine will win this and she was amazing in The Holdovers but the director really sours it for me; happy for Danielle, haven't seen TCP; America shouldn't be there but whatever; I literally though Nyad was about a mythological creature until I Googled last night and found out it was about a swimmer.
Best Director: This is going to go to Christopher Nolan for one of his better movies but not his best because that is FAR. AND AWAY. THE PRESTIGE. Should go to Scorsese, his direction for Killers is why (to me) that movie still felt like it was moving at a clip despite the length.

Imo the reason why she didn't get a nom was because realistically America and Ryan outshined her!!! I like Margot and I thought she did a good job but you can't make a movie that's centered around Ken and then make a giant musical number for the Kens and then be pickachu shocked face when ryan gets all the attention! And him and America have a better character arc than margot. Personally I think they played themselves. I didn't say anything then but I had a feeling the award recognition wasn't gonna be what they wanted with the way they told the story.
i agree! i think a lot of the criticism about ken neglects the fact that greta gave ken that role and that spotlight on purpose? maybe it's not nomination worthy but i don't think margot Deserved it either. and i agree that the noms reflect the story they told.

IMO, Rina is only proving Matty’s point by continuing to to virtue signal 🤷♀️ she is obviously weaponizing the backlash/ his connection to TS to get out of her contract/ put enough pressure on DH to be awarded ownership of her masters… Matty has addressed the issue multiple times and expressed genuine regret/ announced he’s made changes… it’s very fishy and not a good look… on HER…
I would pump the breaks and take pause before deciding that the woman of color in the situation is the bad guy/ villain here. We have NO idea what happens behind closed doors or what prompted her to do what she did. And I say that as a massive Matty Healy Apologist because I think there have been cases where he's gotten his name dragged into the fuckin mud for the wrong reasons. But, here, we don't KNOW the reasons. So, for Rina to decide that the guy she PRAISED PUBLICLY and for SEVERAL YEARS deserves a call out, a guy who has more power than her? it can't have been easy to make that choice. MAYBE she made it for the wrong reasons, and MAYBE she has excellent reasons that we don't know about. I would just be cautious when jumping to assign blame. Cuz, whether she is doing this rightly or not, they ARE the consequences of Matty's actions. if he didn't want to give people any ammunition, maybe he should've thought about it before he made certain jokes.
But yes, Matty has apologized. Sincerely. More than once. Unfortunately, the media / public perception is in it for the shaming and public flogging, not for morality, so. Its dumb. but it is what it is.

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I don't get why they didn't campaign Ed for Glass Onion in supporting actor. They pushed Janelle so hard to get an Oscar nomination (I think she's a good actress btw, one of the few who successfully made it from music to acting) and I get it, Ed had an unflattering role and it wasn't award worthy imo but if they had to campaign with someone, it had to be him. He outplayed everyone and who did they nominate for the Globes? Janelle and Daniel Craig...He wasn't even invited to the Oscars as a presenter btw. The industry really hates him. smh.
hmmm so i feel like overall glass onion wasn’t really a movie to showcase stellar acting it was just a family fun mystery movie type of vibe (in my opinion). so i don’t think anyone really deserved a best actor/supporting nomination or win tbh. i mean i fully agree that ed out performed everyone, but he kinda already does that in every movie. i don’t think playing an unflattering role set him back, usually villains/antagonists are by far the more interesting character to watch and i feel like the protagonist/good guy has to bring more to the table if they wanna outshine. i agree tho he has been snubbed so many times like no nomination for the narrator? fucking. crazy. no win for birdman? the academy is tasteless!

Hermes part deux
@emi12ly
I don't mind at all! 😊
"she lied until the very end"
We really don't know it's a lie. I know others have said many reasons for why etc but I think about all the images i have saved. How many images were saved in total on Pinterest? I have too many.
I mean, sometimes I've downloaded the same image multiple times bc I liked the photo, then I have five copies of the same pic of the same animal or historical costume. I didn't remember having downloaded it before. No dementia etc, lol just 10,000 images saved on my phone. It's hard to remember each individual one.
Maybe the image got stuck in her head? Didn't remember. Maybe she was proud of it and the realization that it looked like someone else's made her sad? I dunno, as I said before it's imo not a big deal to me. Art is art, be creative and have fun. 😊 so for me it's not hard to be understanding when someone says it's a coincidence. I mean I can't prove otherwise so I take them at their word. I try to be understanding, I'm not perfect, I don't expect others to be either. I just try to relate or be understanding (except in cases of murder/rape/child abuse etc).
"important events as an opportunity for herself, it doesn't reflect well on her at all imo"
I disagree, I think it reflects well on her. I think you're right with this quote "You deserve the kind of career you can earn yourself. " but if you don't take and make every turn or event an opportunity.....did you earn it? Or did you squander an important moment or life changing connection over some misplaced sense of personal politeness? And as I said she was an asset for him. And I'm sure if anyone from Hermes said don't record, her phone would've been put up quick, bc you don't fool around with Hermes. They're legendary (and have power and prestige, that's why I'm confident if they weren't ok with being recorded they'd have said don't. And then they maybe wouldn't have left such a nice comment). But anyway, imo, wasting a great opportunity for the both of them like that, would have been foolish.
But I think JM has already established an awesome career by herself! She's got her education under her belt, Several musicals "she loves you" "Grease" "Atlantis" by her own talent. Two movies and nominated for awards before she even met AHA. She's been in so many musicals, concert specials. She got the lead in Askepot before call me dad was cast, so before she met him. Two tv shows out, and Wicked coming up! Imo that's an amazing, well established career. And I was glad to see an actor I think is really good/cool get with someone so accomplished! 😊 and not just bc she's beautiful (imo). So she didn't need him for a career boost, she had gotten 3-4 more thousand followers. But that's not a lot, but musical theater is sadly not as popular lol. Like gymnastics is popular, but sadly my favorite, rhythmic gymnastics isn't as popular. Haven't checked the Olympics schedule yet, but I bet it's on early morning or extra late at night. Sigh. But anyways like Broadway and Tony Awards aren't as big as Hollywood and the Oscars.
You have a great day! 😊😊
