Hot take; I don’t like Sweet Vitriol. Not because I don’t like Cobel but because I think she didn’t deserve to be completely written out of the show.

Break the News
Vicki Vale had been in another major scandal recently, and her ingenious employers decided she needed to be out of Gotham while the heat cools down.
She thought this was going to be a nothing burger, investigating some billionaire who decided to became mayor of some small, middle of nowhere town for, “public pride” or whatever.
That was until an unknown child-hero saved her, than made her day.
Vicki Vale: Why haven’t you called the Justice League?
Danny: You don’t think we tried? We’re in the middle of nowhere, the Justice League is too busy for us, “small fry”.
(Mutters): even if we’ve fought off entire world invasions…

God I have so much to say about Melinoe's characterization, and the fasinating implications about her future arc/the overarching plot of hades 2. I want to make a larger think piece with pictures but for the moment I'm just going to focus on this one specific thread.
In the wake of the Prometheus reveal, she has a slew of convos about his motivations for siding with Chronos, and the gods basically all go: this is his vengeance for us punishing him a tad cruelly. And Nemesis is like, yeah the gods 100% deserve it. But Meli's responds that he must have more motivation than just vengeance, it can't just be that. But when Prometheus explicitly goes, 'I'm doing this because the gods are horrible to humanity and I love humans,' she basically goes, no he must be lying. That motivation is both too pure, but also humans kind of suck why would you care about them?
Mel's humanity hot takes deserve it's own essay (Ms I think Humans should have never gotten fire and are better when they are dead), and I just want to focus on the former for now. She can not comprehend that Prometheus is fighting the gods for noble reasons. It just does not make sense to her. Mel's world is so black and white. She doesn't understand the nuance of the situation, and the thought that the gods might be actually in the wrong doesn't even get close to crossing her mind.
It's a fascinating (and horrifying) result of her upbringing. Of the constant state of war and the very convenient big bad that is Chronos, the evil monster who stole her family. If she accepts that his side isn't completely evil, that they might even be right in some (even many) respects, she would have to grapple with her whole life. Everything she believes would be thrown into question, the literal thing she was training her whole life for.
She can't have Prometheus fighting for a noble cause, because he fights for Chronos whose the Bad Guy tm. But he also can't be fighting for something as simple as vengeance, because that would also mean she would need to really think about what he's angry about. If the punishment was truly so unnecessary cruel.
When talking to Odysseus about Prometheus, when Ody's saying how much he respected him for stealing the fire despite knowing the consequences, Mel says that it was the price to be paid for breaking Olympus's decree. To her, Olympus's rules are sacred and ultimately good. Unquestionably. Prometheus broke the rules with intent, so to her, why would he be so angry at the consequences? Especially if he knew because of his power they were going to happen.
So he must have another reason, some secret machiavellian plan that drives him. Except as I already said, it brings her right back to him doing it for humanity, which she also can't accept. Because that would be admiting that the gods did something wrong to humans. She twists herself into knots to justify her worldview, and it's fascinating! She's so messy I adore her.
Please Supergiant please the final surface boss has to be a human pleeeaaasse (preferably a living one). Or at least have one (or more) show up in some other capacity. Mel needs to come face to face with the other side and have it utterly destroy her worldview.
And/or have (Pan)Dora betray her for Prometheus, that would also be very fun haha.

been chatting with a friend who's playing through PN2 again and i want it to be known i will not hear anyone say a WORD about Hollis giving Raz a hard time at the beginning of the game. if anything she is OUTSTANDINGLY accommodating to this random ten-year-old who wandered in unattended off the plane in the middle of an extremely tense situation

I think something that makes Violet and Xaden such a good couple is how completely deranged they are for each other. They have reached a level of down bad I just have not seen from another book couple in a while.
“He fell harder” is fun, but what about “he fell first, she threw herself over the edge after him”?
The extremes Violet and Xaden have shown they are willing to go for one another is what I love so much about them and their dynamic:
Xaden burst into her room and killed everyone threatening her without a second thought. Violet walked the Parapet in a dress just to talk to him. Xaden risked the secret about the rebellion and Aretia in order to save Violet’s life. Twice. Violet allowed herself to be tortured for five days to protect his secret. Both of them left their assigned posts to fly across the kingdom to get to the other. Violet was willing to die if it gave Xaden a chance to live. Xaden turned venin so Violet would survive.
they’re so insane for each other I just adore them

My thoughts here mainly revolve around YSA as the mary sue/female lead type character:
She goes from being this perfect woman to. just being a woman. And my idea is that the weight gain isn't there to make her "unconventionally attractive," or whatever other dumb phrase you wanna use to avoid calling someone ugly, but to make her conventionally attractive, yet realistic.
Instead of looking like a skinny waifu character, she looks like a skinny human woman. Her hair swaying in the nonexistent wind isn't as perfect, her magic blush is missing and she has eyebags. She's still hot, just more human.

Something about older Jason looking at the child version of himself, the innocent victim, and feeling the need to defend and avenge him the way no one else will. They'll call him reckless and try to pin the blame for his death on some unique failure of his personality, the problem isn't Robin the problem is he was just a bad fit for Robin! And then older Jason coming back to life and spits on their twisted grief. Fuck you, that innocent child deserved more. You took his memory and ruined it to make yourselves feel better. If no one will give him justice then Jason will take it himself no matter who he has to kill to get there. It's the only way he can move forward.
Something about older Cass looking at this child version of herself, this innocent who has no idea what she was doing when she was tricked into killing, and finding her irredeemable. She will forgive everyone for everything if they need a second chance but she cannot forgive that innocent child. She spends ten years wanting that child to die for their sin, a standard she holds no one else to. And in the end she does have to die. She can never forgive that child until the price has been paid and the guilty, tormented, suicidal mess of a girl is dead and never coming back. Only then can Cass live on. Only then can she smile without feeling the weight of her kill on her back. If no one will give that child the justice they deserve then she will have to do it herself. It's the only way she can move forward.

in isolation I think it's fine as a writing move for sasha and melanie to misattribute people weird to them at their Spooky Jobs as being because of misogyny, that is a reasonable conclusion for those characters to make when they are unaware of the Spooky Reasons that people don't want them involved, but alas it leads to this weird thing I see sometimes where fans get boiling mad at these characters and start saying "this stupid bitch thinks she's experiencing discrimination in the workplace when akshually she's being iced out for completely logical reasons due to her lack of skills, something she might realize if she weren't so self-centered with such a massive victim complex." like guys. you don't actually need to say this.

Dark AU, Arkham patient! Jazz Fenton.
Sadly, Jazz Fenton is convinced that her brother Danny is still alive, that Phantom didn't kill him, that ghosts are actually sentient and not necessarily evil. Clearly she was brainwashed by Phantom who was pretending to be her brother.
The GIW graciously don't charge her with the crime of violating the anti-ecto act by protecting ghosts as a kindness to her parents who have done so much good work. She is sent to a mental hospital outside of Amity Park because they think she will recover better away from ghosts.
Well Arkham doesn't know what is about to hit it and Jazz is going to do whatever it takes to escape and save her brother.
#i think this could be well combined with arkham patient Jason and Jazz/Jason ship#Maybe Jason senses that Jazz is Important (ghost princess) and they team up to escape together#Jason is happy to have his murder urges turned on people who deserve it#you could take this two ways depending on your taste. Either the bats actually help and realize what is happening OR they are the antagonis#if Jason is there than probably they are antagonists. Even though he was treated okay there in the comics actually#but we can ignore canon for angst if we want#does this one exist yet? I have seen villain jazz and dark jazz but not this specifically#mostly i see AUs where she works at Arkham#some quick content warnings for implied:#psychiatric abuse#medical abuse#psych abuse#Although I am a bit tired of the use of medical abuse in Arkham in canon and fanon.#It would be neat to see it portrayed as a place that actually tries to help people.#Because in canon they do try to make it better!! So it would be interesting if Jazz wasn't abused in the typical way here#instead they ARE trying to help her but they are just WRONG about her 'illness'. It would make things more fucked up actually.#Like wouldn't it be MORE fucked up if she was treated well? If her parents were kind and supportive? Trying to help her 'recover'.#Imagine the Fentons bringing sweets books games to their 'sick' child. The only child they have left. They want her to 'get better'#Wouldn't that be like peak fucked up?#especially because she is a person who believes in psychology so much. yet it betrays her...#jazz fenton#danny phantom#dc x dp#dc x dp crossover#dc comics#dpxdc#dp x dc crossover#dp x dc prompt#batman#arkham asylum

Demeter 🌾
A woman wrongly accused of being an abusive mother—when in truth, she was a survivor herself. Demeter, goddess of the harvest, knew suffering long before her daughter's birth. She had endured violation, knew the cruelty of men—even her own brothers, for better or worse. So, naturally, she did everything in her power to shield Persephone from harm, to ensure she would never share her mother’s fate.
But fate is cruel.
One day, Persephone vanished without a trace. The earth that once bloomed under Demeter’s care grew silent, barren. And when she learned the truth—her daughter stolen away by Hades, with the blessing of Zeus no less—despair turned to fury. She wandered the earth, calling out for help, but none would answer. So, she let the world feel her grief. The warmth of the harvest turned to ice, the fields withered, the air grew sharp with winter’s bite. It was not mere anger—it was agony. A mother’s plea made manifest in the dying land.
And for a time, the world listened. A bargain was struck. For half the year, Persephone walks in the sunlight, and for the other, she fades into the underworld, bound to a marriage not of her choosing. And so, the seasons turn—the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth, echoing a mother's love and loss.
Demeter was never the villain of this story. She was not cruel, nor selfish—only a mother who had already suffered too much, only a woman who knew the weight of loss and swore to fight against it, even when the fight was hopeless.

obsessed with this scene bc langdon is pretending he still has a job and that he can, like supervise their work. but also he’s only really talking to mel but mel is focusing on santos and the patient meanwhile santos does respond to him but u can see that langdon’s face is like ‘i wasn’t talking to YOU’ but santos and him seem to have some kind silent truce that they’re not gonna fight in front of mel but in the last cap mel is looking at santos like ‘hmm i know some shit went down but idk what and there’s a bald bleeding man in front of me so i’ll just table this for now’ and poor santos looks sadly overwhelmed by all of it.
but later in front of ellis, santos and langdon have no problem talking back to each other to the point that ellis asks her about it.
they thought they were being slick in front of mel but she just had more important things to deal with. she is not about that chisme life.
