Julie
You have a rule. After one hour of studying you must cuddle for half an hour. Maybe sometimes the cuddle session lasts for a little longer. Maybe until the end of the date. And maybe it happens every single time you want to have a study date. But it's your fault for looking so attractive while studying. And it's also her fault for being so beautiful you literally can't take you eyes off of her. So yes, it's not a surprise that you always end up in each other's arms, notes all over the bed. And every five minute you tell her that you guys really should be studying right now. She answers with a "yeah, I know" and then starts talking about a completely different topic, and that shows, she couldn't care less. And if you want to be honest, you don't care about studying either when you're with her.
Natty
She definitely didn't come over to study. She swears she wanted to study too, but if it's true, it probably lasted for five seconds. Her "evil" plan is to make you only care about her. So she just happens to wear a top of your favourite colour with a pair of pants you complimented before. After ten minutes of studying she pretends she doesn't understand whatever you're studying so you'll have to explain it to her. As a thank you she will kiss your lips and then hug you, but she doesn't let go of you again. She just lays back on your bed, that you studied on until now, and tells you to just stay like that for a minute. You agree and that minute turns into an hour and the hour turns into more and more hours.
Belle
Did you say study date? Because all she heard was date. She can't stop looking at you and drowning you in kisses. She also talks a lot. Like a LOT. Even when you know you have to study because there is a big exam coming up and you tell her to calm down and actually study she just can't focus for more than five minutes when you're with her. And you wish it was bothering you but it isn't. You actually enjoy it and always invite her over to study, just to end up cuddling. And you always have to study late at night when she's gone because if she can't focus because of you, you can't focus either because she's there. And you wish it was bothering you, but it isn't.
Haneul
With her you can ACTUALLY study. For a while. She knows you take your studies really seriously and she tries her best to study herself, so she won't bother you. On the other hand, you do take your studies seriously but she just looks so cute when she's studying you can't help but press a kiss on her cheeks every now and then. Maybe sometimes on her lips too. She's just so cute, especially when she doesn't understand something, so you try to help her. And the smile on her face when she finally gets it is worth everything. After studying you always take a well deserved rest in each other's arms.

I-LAND: Signal Song
enhypen 8th female member masterlist
wattpad | open requests/ ask della!
(italics dialogue = english)
(pink border = time skip)
"Let's leave our things here and go," one of the boys said, after the rules of I-Land were explained. Alice and I were the only ones who got through and we still feel horrible.
We left Haneul, Binna, and all those guys behind.
Well there's a chance for us to join them in a bit too.
Everyone placed their bags on the chairs arranged in the 'lobby' and did a tour of the premises.
I-Land is amazing. There really isn't anything like it. It truly looks like it came from a movie.
Once we were done, we sat on the large couch in the living area, scanning one another. The screen displaying our pictures in cards felt like it was mocking us.
The boys seem fairly comfortable with each other already and the girls and I were the only ones keeping to ourselves. We aren't usually this shy but when you're surrounded by so many boys, we are bound to be.
They started to discuss strategies on how to vote while Alice and I continued to observe everyone quietly, trying to understand their vibes and personalities.
"Do you girls have any suggestions?" tall-danger-guy, K asked us, noticing how quiet we are. The whole room suddenly turned to the two of us, and I feel myself getting nervous again.
I scanned through everyone's eyes for a moment (practically skipping Jake) and saw a few of them turn away and shift uncomfortably. Whoops.
RBF girl, don't forget. Look kinder. Smile or something.
I shrugged my shoulders, not having any ideas at the moment.
"Well, I don't know about you guys but if I'm only going to be here for two hours, I might as well get some good food in," I joked and stood up, making my way to the food-filled dining table. I could feel their shocked looks on my back and heard Alice's laugh.
"Come on, fill up," I said, taking a bite out of a macaron yet they were all still frozen.
"Do you want me to feed you?" I raised my eyebrow teasingly. Alice laughed again and they all snapped before finally making their way to the table, grabbing onto their food of choice.
"You surprised me," Seon, who was across from me, said.
"Oh? Why?", I questioned, enjoying the rest of my dessert.
"You seem so cold," he said with a smile. I giggled a bit.
"I get that a lot, I'm sorry about that," I smiled and made eye contact. "Guys, I'm nice I swear, I'm sorry I look so cold," I directed to the whole group.
"I said that exact same thing earlier," Jay said with wide eyes, cute. I really liked the vibe he gives off, he seems so cool.
"Aye," I smiled wider and raised my hand for a high five.
"We haven't had the chance to talk with you girls," the tall, denim jacket wearing guy said. What was his name again..? He did Any Song and he's Haneul's age (I think) but what is up with his height? Calm down.
"Sorry, we were a bit tense," Alice replied sheepishly. I looked at her and couldn't find a trace of discomfort, that's good. "We can get to know each other now, though."
"Who is good at cooking?" Jay suddenly asked, and only two hands were raised, Alice's and tall denim guy's. "It's just us three?" He smiled.
"We're doomed," denim guy joked, making Alice giggle. She's in good hands, you can go grab a drink.
"I'm getting a drink, kay?" I whispered to Alice. Once I got her approval, I made my way into the pantry, where Seon and Heeseung were.
Ah, Heeseung's performance was so good. I personally think it's the best one today.
They stopped their conversation as I came in. I gave them an apologetic smile before taking a bottle of cafe latte.
"Della-ssi?" Seon called. I turned to him with raised eyebrows and unscrewed my bottle. "Your performance was also amazing, one of the bests today," he complimented.
"Ah really? Thank you so much, I enjoyed your performance as well," I smiled and bowed slightly.
"I think if I were to choose a group, I want to group with you," Heeseung joined. My eyes widened.
"Me too, I really want to group with you," Seon agreed and I started shaking my hand at them.
"No, no, it was nothing. Everyone did a great job," I panicked slightly. It's a bit embarrassing.
"I think everyone wants to group with you," Heeseung said softly and I found myself melting. That's so sweet.
"Thank you so much," I bowed again and watched them leave the room.
Thank God, I wouldn't know what to say next.

Without us realising, two hours had passed and everyone had gathered in the lobby.
We had a nice little chat in the living area before dispersing into smaller groups, getting to know each other more.
Alice and I engaged in a conversation with Seon, Sungchul, EJ and denim-boy Daniel. Poor Sungchul and Alice were so nervous, we had to assure them a lot.
I was terribly anxious too but didn't want to take the attention off of the two, they needed the assurance more than I do.
I sat on the chair that contained Alice and I's bags. I placed them on the floor and pat my thigh while looking at Alice. She sat on my lap and I wrapped my arms around her waist.
"Cute," Heeseung said, sitting beside us. I smiled at him and leaned my head against her back.
With your decisions, the fourteen survivors of I-LAND has been determined. From now, the four dropouts will be announced.
I held Alice's hands and prayed silently. What if they vote me out? What if they vote Alice out? What if they vote anyone o- well we kind of have to, stupid. It's a survival show. Just please be good.
I figured out a strategy. One that I will use every time we have to self-vote. I will choose myself and the most popular members. I know they won't be voted out and therefore, I won't have to deal with the guilt.
Kim Sunoo, Noh Sungchul, Taki, Byeon EJ
I did not vote for any of them and it's interesting to see everyone's choices. Especially with the fact that Sunoo had ten votes, complete bullshit.
I really liked him. He had good expressions and was definitely enjoying himself, exactly my style.
They shouldn't leave. They didn't deserve it and no one here does.
Okay, I have now discovered that I am not survival show worthy.
Alice and I got up and made our way over to Sunoo first.
"Is it okay if I hug you?" I asked. I didn't want to make him uncomfortable. He nodded and opened his arms, where I immediately brought myself into.
Wow he gives good hugs.
We bid our goodbyes and watched as the four boys left. God I feel so bad.
After they were out of sight, everyone gathered together and placed their hands in to do a cheer.
"One, two, three, I-Land!"

Alice and I settled and chose to stay in the red-themed room, the only one with two beds.
We showered and changed into our comfort wear fairly quickly. The boys were so sweet, they let us go first and have the entire bathroom to ourselves.
I was eating cereal alone in the dining room when I saw Jay walking towards the pantry.
When he exited, I pulled out the chair next to me and patted it to invite him over. He gave me a smile and sat down with his bowl of cereal.
"So Jay, what's your full name?" I asked, looking at him straight in the eye. Trying to build 'connections' here.
"Park Jay, my Korean name is Park Jongseong," he said, taking a bite out of his cereal.
"Oh? You're not born here?" I furrowed my brows and he gave out a soft chuckle.
"No, I was born in the US," ah..
"You speak English then?" He seemed taken aback at the sudden change in language.
"Yeah I do. I moved here when I was a kid," woah buddy, your voice didn't have to sound this nice. "Did you use to live outside too?"
"Ah no, I just go to an international school. I'm actually more comfortable speaking in English but I'm okay with both," I smiled. Okay, TMI.
"Okay with both, huh? Starting today, let's speak in konglish. Maybe it could be like our thing," he smirked.
"Deal," I smirked back, shaking his hand.

In ten minutes, we will reveal the first test.
Not this dude again.
I groaned and sat up on my bed, seeing Alice still asleep. I rubbed my eyes and made my way over to her bed.
"Unnie, wake up. We have ten minutes," I laid on top of her. I heard her groan and felt her switch positions.
"Ten minutes?" She groggily said. I nodded against her, knowing she could feel it.
I groaned loudly and made my way to the bathroom, bringing my skin and dental care stuff with me.
“Good morning, oppars,” I greeted K, Youngbin and Seon. They were brushing their teeth and washing their face.
They all panicked, seeing how I wanted to use the sinks as well.
“No, no, it’s fine! I’m just doing the same stuff as you guys,” I assured them hurriedly.
Not gonna lie, that was cute and really sweet of them.
I started to do my business but still felt eyes following my every move.
I looked over and saw them all turn away really quickly, resuming what they were originally doing.
Adorable.

"Hands up if you want to do part one," Heeseung has taken action as the unspoken leader, which I personally appreciate. Since we don't have any professionals, I think having a leader is best.
A few seconds past and no one has raised their hands. I'm sure everyone wants to but are just too shy.
I know that I don't have to fight for the part I want.
"Then does anybody want to recommend someone?" Heeseung suggested.
"I have," Sunghoon and Youngbin said at the same time.
Sunghoon pointed at Heeseung (in a really cute way, might I add) and said his reasoning shortly after.
Heeseung tried his hardest to not look flattered but eventually failed when he joked around. Cute.
Stop thinking everything is cute, idiot.
"Me too, the image suits you," Youngbin said. "Either Heeseung-hyung or Della," wait what?
I snapped my head up with wide eyes, looking over at Youngbin. The room was filled with laughter for a few moments but I stayed the same.
"I agree, either Heeseung-hyung or Della," Sunghoon suddenly added, making me look at him in borderline disgust.
"What is up with your face?" Alice laughed and slapped my thigh. The laughter within the room continued and I finally snapped out of it.
"Please not me, I want one of the one-liners," and boy the amount of shocked expressions I received-
"Why?! At least take number two or something," Daniel suggested but I still shook my head.
"I vote Heeseung-oppa."
"I'm not sure if I'm the one for this, I think Della is better," Heeseung humbly said after it was (basically) decided as him.
Oh no you don't.
"Don't worry about it, we can change at any time," Seon reminded.
Oh God, please. Do not switch the centre.
"I know my strengths," I said in my self-camera. "If I can make people notice and remember me just by singing one line, then that just shows how worthy I am of debuting," I smiled largely.
"But part two sings high, too," Youngbin pointed out.
"Yeah, part two sings hi-" before Jungwon could finish, he was interrupted by a loud voice booming from my left side. I held my left ear and surprisingly stared at Jay.
"I want to do part two," he said and looked at me apologetically. We had a really pleasant talk after our konglish-cereal-thing. I'm guessing we're friends now.
Eventually, we decided that everyone who wanted a certain part should sing their lines and the room would vote for who we think should get it.
I watched as Jay tried for every part, getting visibly frustrated as he doesn't get picked every time.
I felt horrible for him and had an urge to do something that I might regret.
After he failed to get part six, I reached over towards one of his hands that was playing with the other, stopping just before I could grab it, implying that I'm asking for permission.
He froze for a long moment before grabbing onto it. He was so deep in thought that he didn't even realise that part seven was up for grabs next.
I nudged him and he finally raised his hand.
"I wasn't paying attention," he explained. Cu- stop.
He tried it out but the part ended up as Sunghoon's. It was the last of the more-than-one liners.
"Whatever. I'll do whatever is left, I'm done," he frustratingly said and let go of my hand. Poor Jongseong.
I rubbed his back to try and comfort him in a different way but was surprised to find him reaching up and taking my hand in his again.
I felt pride when I saw him continue to try for part eight. This man is so strong.
"Congratulations," I whispered after seeing a smile return to his face.

Della comforting Jay was so sweet. I feel so bad for him
ok della being confident enough that she'll catch the viewers attention with one line is some serious BDE 😩😩
WAIT DELLA'S SWEET TOO?? THIS GIRL-
it's nice to see that the girls aren't actually uncomfortable with the whole cameras and boys situation
damn della is BOLD
I'm loving Alice and Della's friendship so far, they're quite clingy
—wait a few weeks and they'll probably be like that with the boys too lmao
I literally screamed when I saw Della and Jay holding hands
Della's strategy is actually brilliant. She's using her strengths to her advantage, I can't wait to see the performance

He needs someone | Park Seonghwa
Words count: 3.3k whoops Pairing: kindergarten teacher! reader x police officer!, single dad! Seonghwa Genre: F L U F F and a squint of angst once A/N: I tried my best, it’s a concept I had in mind for a while and I’m glad I managed to write something :’) I’m sorry in advance if you notice mistakes, English isn’t my first language but at least I tried, right? The gif isn’t mine as usual, all the credits go to the talented creator :)
The first day of the week was coming to an end and you were happy. You loved your job, really, it was a real pleasure to get up in the morning and take care of adorable children your students. They were nice, polite, you had to raise your voice from time to time for the order to come back, but it was rare. However, the past few days were more of a chore than a pleasure, because you were worried about one student in particular. His name was Haneul. He was a 5-year old boy full of energy, kindness and the politest of all your students. Already at his age, he was altruistic, always ready to play with others or help you tidy up things that weren't necessarily his. Despite his good attitude and politeness, you noticed that he was missing something, but you couldn't put your finger on it. Until one afternoon, when you left school, it struck you.
He was one of the few students who didn't have two parents. Yes, some had two mothers or two dads, or their divorced parents came to pick them up each in turn, but for Haneul, everything seemed different. It was always his father who came to pick him up or his grandmother, but it was very rare. You were beginning to question yourself, wondering if Haneul had a mother or other relative that took care of him except for his father. Perhaps his mother was seriously ill, or even dead. You had noticed several times where Haneul was in a bad mood, especially when you asked your students what they had done during the weekend. It was a ritual that you did every Monday morning and many children were talking about their parents. Haneul was always silent during these kinds of moments. Unable to give special treatment, you also asked him questions, especially about the toy cars he loved to take to school, and you tried to get him to talk about his father most of the time. You didn't want to make him uncomfortable or cry in front of the other students, so you carefully avoided the mom's subject.
You were in the school playground, chatting with another teacher to look after the children who were waiting for their parents. It was rush hour, everyone was out of work and the traffic was very heavy, which caused most of the delays for parents. When you noticed Haneul’s father, you excused yourself to your colleague, took the boy’s little hand and walked towards the man. You couldn't lie, his father is a charismatic man. Whenever he entered the yard, single mothers - and sometimes even some married women, in the presence of their husbands - stared at him. He exuded a certain class and a form of serenity which reassured everyone. Maybe it was his uniform that provided that kind of emotion. Yes, his father was a policeman. You have seen him repeatedly patrolling the city or your neighbourhood, even sometimes waiting for his son in his car. At first glance, his life seemed to be devoted to bringing order within the city, but really, it revolved solely around his son. His serious and distant mask fell every time his son ran into his arms or showed him a craft he did in class. He was also one of the few parents who wrote you a kind note for Christmas to thank you for your hard work and it touched you.
When you reached Haneul's father with him, a veil of concern crossed the eyes of the man standing in front of you. He seemed worried and had walked much less assuredly than the other times that you had seen him. "Good evening ma'am. Thanks for calling me. Has Haneul not behaved well?" He questioned as his son, oblivious to the situation, jumped into his arms, kissing his dad’s cheek. "No, your son is a remarkable little boy, full of goodwill and very polite, but there is a delicate subject that concerns him which I would like to talk with you if you would like." The policeman looked at his son and put him on the ground before nodding. "Haneul," he said, crouching down next to his son, "will you play with your friends for a while? I need to speak with your teacher for a few minutes, it won't be long, okay?" Haneul nodded without hesitation and left to replay with his friends, running towards them. "I'm listening," his voice was hesitant, but he tried to keep a neutral expression. "First, I want to tell you that you don't have to answer or take into account what I'm going to tell you, and this is by no means a psychological diagnosis, just an observation me, his teacher." He nodded, a sign for you to continue. "Well, I have a tradition every Monday morning of asking certain students to tell us about their weekend, it's mainly to encourage them to speak in front of others, but the more this discussion advances in the morning, the more I see your child withdrawing into himself, sometimes he's even on the verge of tears when one of his classmates mentions their mother."
The policeman didn't seem shocked by your statement, but your words didn't leave him indifferent. He said nothing but looked behind you, carefully avoiding your gaze. "I don't want to interfere in your private life, but I have always wondered if Haneul had another parental figure beside you because he looks like he wants one…" He sighed as your voice trailed. "But aside from this little detail, Haneul is a golden child, he's always ready to stop arguments or help me tidy up, his education is remarkable, it's also something I wanted to tell you." You were trying to save yourself from embarrassment, given his lack of reaction, and his smile returned when you complimented his son, but it was not as warm as usual. You knew that you had touched a sensitive point and you had decided to cut short the discussion to not make it more uncomfortable. He already seemed pained enough like that, so you motioned for Haneul to come back to his father. "I'm sorry officer, but I have a few more things to do in class, I wish you a very good evening." You smiled at him and he greeted you with a brief whim and an almost inaudible "thank you".
By putting away the last chairs, you deeply regretted your words. It was none of your business, but Haneul's situation gave your heart a twinge. You were thinking of a softer way to approach the subject again, but you could not find any other solution. You didn't sleep much that night, bitterly regretting the discussion.
What did you have to pry in things that were none of your business?
The two days following this discussion were painful because the policeman did not come to pick up Haneul, it was his grandmother. You were almost ready to ask Haneul for his address to go and apologize to his father. Thursday afternoon was finally the day he decided to reappear. When you saw him again, you rushed inside, leaving your colleague alone in the school playground. You pretended to put the tables and chairs back in their place if he looked through the windows. Wanting to give him enough time to leave, you filled the kettle with water and heated it on its base. "Can I speak to you?" A throat clears which startled you, almost making you drop the kettle. You turned around and found the policeman in the doorway. He was not wearing his uniform, but his aura of authority and confidence was still there. "Yes, but I-" "No, don't apologize." "Please, let me. I wanted to apologize, I got involved in things that were none of my business. I was so mad at myself that I haven't slept well for the last few days." "Yes, Haneul told me you weren't as energetic as usual, but don't worry about me. Your words had the effect of a cold shower and I believe it was necessary." He said with a soft smile, scratching the back of his neck. You nodded, gesturing him to take your chair as you sat on one of the tables, keeping a reasonable distance. "I thought my mother and I would be enough for Haneul's education. His... well, his mother left us when he was two years old. When we learnt that we were expecting a baby, we made an agreement together. I promised to reduce my time at work to take care of her and Haneul. However, nothing went according to plan and I ended up working almost twice more. I was terrified that I would not have enough money to support them and because I didn't keep my promise to my girlfriend, she left. I thought she was going to get away with the situation because she was very independent, but it was only after she left me that I realized that she needed me." He paused, allowing you to let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding. "After your statement, I said to myself that I should try to get her back, even if the two of us wasn't going to work, we could at least try for Haneul, but it's too late. I saw her in the store where I regularly grocery shop. She was with another man and she seemed much happier and more radiant than when she was with me. I simply greeted her, but I couldn't see myself begging her to come back in front of her new boyfriend. I know I fucked up and I regret it now, but I don't know what else I can do." You got up and turned off the kettle, pouring the hot liquid into two cups. You handed him one and leaned against your desk. "I understand that you are in a difficult situation, but now it's too late to get your ex back, that is clear. She moved on but it’s human, you also did it by busying yourself at work, according to what you're telling me. She is certainly mad at you and that is normal, I also understand her reaction, but you must start looking elsewhere, or even around you." "I talked to Haneul about it, and he admitted he missed having a mom. But you know, there aren't many people out there who want to go out with a policeman, so if he also has a child, it's complicated. And I assure you, I tried, I really tried, but they all left as soon as I mentioned my son. Selfishly, I prefer that Haneul does not have a mother rather than having one who does not love him. I need someone who loves me and him." "I understand, he is a part of you. You know, it was just a statement, I never ordered you to look for someone, you must not misunderstand my words. If you feel that you and your mother are enough for the education of your son, then you must follow your gut. But I remain in my position that your little one needs a maternal figure. Otherwise, growing up, he will no longer distinguish his mother from his grandmother, since it will be the same figure, you see?" The discussion was coming to an end, but the officer didn't seem to ready to leave. His gaze was lost into the void and he sipped on his tea. Suddenly, he regained his senses, gulped the remaining of his cup and put it in the sink. He smiled at you and held out his hand for you to squeeze. "My name is Park Seonghwa. Officer Park Seonghwa. And thank you for being so kind to my son, he loves you and it's nice not having to fight to get him out of bed." You blushed at his compliments and squeezed his hand, his grip not as hard as you thought it was going to be. It was firm but had nothing dominant or aggressive. "Y/L/N Y/N, I'm glad your son is having fun coming here, I'm trying to do everything for it. " "And... thank you for listening to me, because you really didn't have to. I think I needed to tell someone neutral. You know, parents are never very objective,” he said, not letting go of your hand. "I'm glad to have helped you, officer... And again, sorry for my mistake, I was just worried about Haneul." "This is a closed matter now, Y/N, don't worry about it anymore. Have a safe trip back home. Good night." You smiled at him and saw him leave with Haneul. Through the window, he greeted you with a wave which you answered with a slight smile.
The weekend had finally arrived, and you wanted to go for a walk in the park. The heat of May allowed you to go out only wearing a big sweater above your casual dress, a light scarf protecting your throat from the light wind. You sat on a bench and took out a book, adjusting your sunglasses and crossing your legs. Later, a group of eight adults with a child settled under the weeping willow, located a few meters from you, in the grass. Your vision wasn't the best, you squinted because you seemed to recognize Haneul. He also seemed to have recognized you because he pulled the sleeve of a man you immediately acknowledged: Seonghwa. He looked up and smiled at you, his son pulling him in your direction. You put your book down and watched, amused by the situation. The rest of the group was looking either at the father or you, which made you bright red. Seonghwa crouched and whispered something in his son's ear. A smile lit up his face and sprinted towards your bench.
"Hi Haneul, how are you?" "Hello, Teacher! I’m okay!! You are alone?" He asked, tilting his small head. "Yes, I'm enjoying the nice weather." "Daddy would like to know if you want to come and join us..." You smiled at the kid and looked up at Seonghwa. He had a tender smile on his face and Haneul pulled you from your seat by grabbing your hand. You laughed and gathered your things, Haneul running to his father.
Seonghwa greeted you and introduced you to the rest of the group, his colleagues. You weren't sure how to behave since they represented the law, but they were all lovely with you. Some asked you questions about your job and Haneul, including a man named Hongjoong, who you learnt was Haneul's godfather, who seemed fascinated by your work. Another colleague, Mingi, was very interested since his sister also worked as a teacher, but in their hometown. The rest of the day went by without problems, the group of police officers quickly put you at ease, abandoning the formalities. Clouds had formed and began to hide the sun, abruptly ending this wonderful day. When Wooyoung felt the first drops of water fall on his skin, you all hurried to pack up and take refuge in their cars. Haneul hadn't followed his father, he had run with Yunho in his car. You were soaking from head to toe, your sweater nowhere to be seen, your dress sticking to your body. You just hoped that your underwear was not showing through the wet material.
"You're beautiful." Seonghwa's deep voice rang out in the car and made you faced him. His hair fell in front of his face, droplets soaking his white t-shirt. Unlike his uniform, it gave you a good overview of his shoulders and his muscular torso. His eyes never left you, something had changed in them. You smiled, a bit embarrassed, watching the rain trickle down the windows, suddenly being very hot. A hand grabbed your chin and your face was now very close to Seonghwa's, his eyes lost in yours. Your heart was pounding, you were sure he could hear it, but you couldn't look beyond his beautiful eyes. Not when you had such a handsome officer in front of you. "May I?" He whispered, almost out of breath, his gaze moving back and forth between your eyes and your mouth. His expression was very intense, you could only accept. When his lips met yours, the tension in your shoulders disappeared and fireworks exploded in your stomach. You responded to the kiss immediately, surprising yourself, but it was too hard to resist. His lips were as soft as if you were kissing a chocolate coulis. The kiss was warm, intense, but filled with tenderness.
To your great disappointment, this tender exchange was shortened by someone knocking on Seonghwa's window. Yunho was there, an amused smile on his lips. You stopped the kiss, quickly pulling you away from Seonghwa's arms. You hadn't even realized in the kiss that he had embraced you, pressing you even more against him. You tried to catch your breath and Seonghwa lowered the window, embarrassed to have been surprised by his colleague. "Am I disturbing something?" Yunho said, refraining from laughing. "What do you want?" Seonghwa dryly replied, not amused by the situation at all. "I'm coming to bring your son back to you, I think he was in the wrong car. But to see what you were doing; I think I'll bring it back to me." "Shut up and bring him up to the back,” Seonghwa ordered. You had found back the police officer, strict and distant, as when he came to pick up his son.
When Yunho had fastened Haneul’s seatbelt and closed the car door, Seonghwa started the car and brought you home without saying a word, just a few glances exchanged on the way as well as apologetic smiles. When your resident building came into your range of vision, disappointment stung your heart. "Thanks for driving me back." You muttered, unsure how to behave with the little one in the back. "No problem." Seonghwa smiled, glancing into the rear-view mirror. Haneul was soundly sleeping and the policeman seized this chance to quickly connect your lips. "Ha! I knew it! Daddy loves Teacher Y/N!" Haneul's frail voice rang out in the car, scaring you both. You hurried out of the car and Seonghwa mouthed you to call him later. You entered the hall without turning around and you heard the car leave. "Daddy, do you like Teacher Y/N?" "Yes, kind of. " "Does that mean she's going to be my mom?" "Only if you want it." Seonghwa watched his son's reaction as the car came to a red light. The child had a neutral face, but he suddenly smiled with all his teeth and looked at his father in the rear-view mirror. "Yes!"

Their fingers piece together, and it would be endearing to the camera, she realizes, that play up their heated disdain for each other as chemistry. Davina could understand why they would misconstrue. They say there is a fine line between hate and love, but she has also never fallen for the terrible clichés. So long as the public ate it up, however, that's all that mattered. "Breaking the wheel..." Her voice trails, as if awed that Haneul would also like to do just that, but she swallows back the commonality that they could embrace in favor of more pertinent conversation. "I am wearing classic cobalt. Tasteful slit on the leg, showcasing the shoulders. What were your thoughts? You could match or gold would very much suit you and go well with me." She's offering a compliment, yet doesn't register it as such.
"mmmm." the hum is non-committal, just like haneul's adoration for the woman before her. still, the moment davina's fingers brush over haneul's skin, her palm turns upwards and allows for digits to return the favor, an effortless display of affection knowing that someone somewhere is watching. they always are. "it's easy to forget, i won't blame you for that." her annoyance drops a moment and so do her eyes to watch their hands idly ghosting over one another. "we'll break the wheel someday. but for now — have you picked your attire for opening night? what colors are you planning on wearing?"

Masterlist
He let out a soft curse when he saw the blue smudge on his white and red fox mask. He knew he should’ve been more careful around the kids, but he couldn’t help himself. Jinyoung quickly wiped the blue fingerprint off of his mask with a wet tissue paper, letting out a breath he didn’t know he was holding when the paint easily came off with water.
Jinyoung quickly made his way back into the kindergarten classroom, not wanting his students to spend too much time without supervision. He thought letting them do painting was a good idea… at least until the children started throwing paint around the classroom at each other. He managed to diffuse the situation and got them more focused on their projects, but most of their mini white aprons and masks were already covered in paint.
“Jinyoung seonsaengnim,” A voice spoke up behind him. He turned around and looked down to see the boy who had pressed his blue finger to his mask standing behind him. “Jun Hee’s sorry Jun Hee touched seonsangnim’s mask with his finger.” The boy apologised, a pout evident on the half of his face that was not covered by his mask.
Jinyoung felt his heart melt at the boy. He always liked to refer to himself in third person, and at first Jinyoung found it a bit weird, but he found it cuter as the days went by.
“Ah, Jun Hee-ah, it’s okay.” Jinyoung crouched down so that he was eye level with the five year old, “Seonsaengnim is not mad.” He reassured him.
“But, but, if your mask looks different, seonsaengnim won’t find his soulmate.” The boy mumbled out and looked like he was going to cry when he looked at his teacher.
“I’m not mad, Jun Hee. It’s okay. Don’t cry and go finish your project, okay?” Jinyoung patted Jun Hee’s brown hair and gently guided the boy back to his round table with the rest of his classmates.
“Seonsaengnim! Hyun Jung put paint in my hair!” One of the students cried out. He quickly made his way over to the two five year old girls, one of them with a handful of paint in her hair.
“Why did you do that?” He scolded Hyun Jun.
“Eun Ha said my painting was ugly.” The girl mumbled out. Jinyoung pursed his lips and crouched in between the two,
“Eun Ha-ya, did you call her painting ugly?” He questioned the girl softly. Eun Ha nodded, her expression completely hidden by her whole face mask. “Why did you say that?” When Eun Ha didn’t respond he let out a soft sigh, “Eun Ha-ya, you shouldn’t say things like that even if you’re feeling upset, okay? It’s not nice.” He scolded her gently.
“I’m sorry.” The girl mumbled out without looking Jinyoung in the eyes.
“Don’t say you’re sorry to me. Tell Hyun Jung you’re sorry.” He moved aside to let the two children talk and soon they were back to being friends, giggling and painting with each other.
“Okay,” Jinyoung moved to the front of the classroom and clapped his hands together, “Who’s finished with their painting?” He asked as he raised his arm up. Half of the class raised their hands up and scurried their way over to proudly show their paintings to their teacher.
“Seonsaengnim! Jae and I made you a special card!” A pair of boys came running up to him and held up the messily painted card. The words ‘Hapy birfday seonsaengnim!’ messily painted on it. Jinyoung’s heart warmed and he swore it melted to the point where it was leaking out of his chest.
“How did you know it was my birthday?” He questioned the two boys when he remembered he never told them his birthday.
“Jackson seonsaengnim put it on the wall!” Jae pointed to the decorated wall at the back of the class. Jinyoung turned to where he was pointing in confusion. When did Jackson come into my class? He questioned when he pushed through some of the manila cards and saw a picture of himself there with his birthday on it.
“Jackson seonsaengnim said we should all wish you on your birthday, so happy birthday Jinyoung seonsaengnim!” Eun Ha excitedly jumped from her seat and ran over to hug his legs. Jinyoung was slightly surprised when the whole class of children came running towards him to hug him and wish him a happy birthday.
Jinyoung stared at them in shock but accepted their hugs nonetheless.
“You’re Jun Hee’s favourite teacher!” Jun Hee excitedly told him.
“Yeah! You’re the nicest!” Another student added. The children continued to spew compliments to him and Jinyoung felt so much love for these kids he crouched down and hugged all of them, not bothering with their paint covered hands staining his black t shirt.
“Thank you.” He happily thanked them as he stood up. He moved over to the front of the class and it turned out that most of them had actually prepared birthday cards for him which they happily handed them to him.
He helped the children clean the paint off of their hands and masks before sending them home when class was over and took his time in clearing up the class. He hummed a tune to himself as he did, clearing up the stray papers and washing the mugs they used for the paint brushes.
“Knock, knock.” A masquerade puppy masked man stuck his head into the empty classroom and walked in when he saw Jinyoung alone. “How was your birthday surprise from the class?”
“Thanks to you, I received many birthday cards from my students. Thank you, Jackson.” Jinyoung happily smiled as he turned around to face his fellow colleague, best friend and flatmate.
“See? It’s a good thing I told them.” He chuckled as he looked through the birthday cards Jinyoung had received from the class. “Your class is cute. My class keeps fighting with each other.” He joked when he read the messages scribbled onto the cards.
“Your class acts like you; chaotic.” He snorted as he stood at the front of the class and scanned the classroom for any mess he had missed. Jackson turned to him and even with his mask covering his eyes, Jinyoung could tell he was raising a brow at him. “I speak the truth.” Jinyoung chuckled as he crossed his arms over his chest.
To be fair, Jackson was a bit of a chaotic teacher compared to Jinyoung. Whenever his kids would fight, he would just give them candy sometimes to make them stop fighting. Which was not exactly the best idea since it would make them so hyper, he would have more trouble controlling them
Jinyoung, on the other hand, was more of a talk-it-out kinda guy. Whenever his kids would fight or be sulky, he would talk to them and encourage them to talk out their issues to find a midpoint. He would only give them candy if they cried when they couldn’t make up.
“Yeah, like your class isn’t chaotic, too.” He huffed out and eyed Jinyoung’s paint covered shirt.
“It’s not like I could stop them. They all came to hug me and wish me happy birthday.” Jinyoung shrugged and raised his arms up in defense. “That bit’s your fault since you let them know my birthday.” He gestured to the picture Jackson had pinned on the wall.
“I thought it would be nice. You don’t celebrate your birthday if Haneul noona and I don’t plan anything for you.” Jackson pointed out in an almost scolding tone.
“I never see it as a big deal.” Jinyoung shrugged.
“Really? Your birthday isn’t a big deal?” He crossed his arms over his chest. Jinyoung responded with another shrug. Jackson let out a sigh and stood up, “Get your stuff, I’m taking you out for a birthday lunch.”
“Jacks-”
“Nope, no declining.” He cut him off by raising his hand up to Jinyoung’s face, “I’m taking you out for a birthday lunch and I’m getting you a birthday present, you can’t stop me.” He left the classroom without another word and Jinyoung let out a sigh, but he still couldn’t help the smile that crept onto his face.
Jinyoung loved Jackson to bits even if he wouldn’t express it sometimes. He had known Jackson for years and started working at the kindergarten together, both wanting to pursue their love for teaching and being around children. He was the only friend that Jinyoung really kept around, well, other than Haneul whom they both met when they started working there.
Haneul was there to guide them through their first years working there and soon she became close with the two. They were a bit wary of the black and white tiger masked woman but she proved to be a kind senior and also quite the wild card. She was the person who suggested carpooling since their apartments were nearby, but she was also the person who thought starting a bar fight was a good idea.
Most of the time, Jinyoung prioritized his work rather than his social circle which was the whole reason why he didn’t really have that many friends. He preferred to keep to himself most of the time and he was content with his two colleagues whom he was friends with.
Jinyoung’s reserved personality was also one of the reasons he wasn’t actively looking for his soulmate. He didn’t really want an extra person in his life. What if he wasn’t their soulmate? What if they were enemy soulmates? He didn’t want that kind of stress so he just lived his life, happy with his fox mask adorning his face.
“Where are we going for Jinyoung’s birthday?” Haneul questioned as they climbed into Jackson’s car. “Happy birthday, by the way. I hope your day goes well and that you change out of your paint smeared shirt soon.” She chuckled when she eyed the state his shirt was in.
“My class knew it was my birthday, so they came to hug me while I was painting with them.” Jinyoung explained when he looked down at the handprints and paint smears that covered his shirt.
“Good thing you wore black.” Jackson pointed out as he started driving.
“I planned to wear black for that very reason.” Jinyoung hummed out.
“I’m taking you to your favourite barbeque place. I know how much you like meat.” He glanced over at Jinyoung.
“Your mask should be a tiger mask instead. You eat meat as if you’re starved.” Haneul jokes.
“I’m quite content with my fox mask, thank you very much.” Jinyoung chuckled as he turned around to face Haneul, “Plus, your tiger mask shows your personality. You scare the children, you know.” He joked.
“The kids in my class are like tiny spawns of Satan, they deserve the scare every once in a while.” She playfully rolled her eyes and leaned back in her seat.
“How did you even get a job as a kindergarten teacher.” Jackson muttered in disbelief as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
“I love kids, my class just acts like demons sometimes.” She shrugged.
“‘Sometimes’ is an understatement.” Jinyoung snorted.
“Yeah, noona, your class hates each other more than mine does.” Jackson laughed.
“They don’t hate each other. They like to betray me.” Haneul rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest.
“I once walked in on them all piling on top of you while screaming, ‘off with her head’.” Jinyoung reminded her as he turned around once again to look at her. “What did you do to them?” He raised an eyebrow, playfully accusing her of pissing off her class that time.
“I didn’t do anything.” She scoffed, “I asked them to do maths and they said no and started attacking me.” She grumbled out.
“Yeah, see? That’s what you did. You made them do maths.” Jackson joked. “You know what I learned? Never make children do maths because the last time I tried, they ended up throwing their pencils at each other.” He let out a chuckle.
“Whenever I ask my kids to do math, they do it.” Jinyoung proudly stated.
“Your kids are angels.” He muttered out with a hint of jealousy to his tone.
“It’s not my fault my kids actually like me.” He snickered. Jackson took his right hand off of the wheel and punched Jinyoung in the arm. “Ow! Keep your hands on the wheel or I’ll jump out and none of us will get to eat because you’ll have to drive me to the hospital.” He threatened. Jackson turned over to him, trying to think of a comeback before turning to the road and just muttering curses under his breath.
“We’re here.” Jackson grumbled out as he parked the car. “Curse you and your ability in shutting me up.” He scowled at Jinyoung who smirked at him.
“You have to teach me how you do that.” Haneul snickered as they walked into the restaurant.
“I can’t teach it, I just do it.” Jinyoung shrugged. They sat down at a table and got what Jinyoung would usually get; grilled pork belly.
“God, I can’t believe this place actually has birthday specials.” Jackson groaned as he leaned back in his seat.
“I didn’t even know they give you three portions for the price of one when it’s your birthday. If I knew that, I would’ve actually celebrated my birthday every year.” Jinyoung agreed as he rubbed his stomach.
“We’re not done yet, I hope you have room for cake because I want cake.” Haneul hummed out as she continued to eat.
“How can you eat so much? You’ve eaten almost six portions of pork belly.” Jackson looked at her incredulously. This woman had eaten her three portions and ate whatever Jackson and Jinyoung couldn’t stomach.
“I can eat a lot. You guys never spend a lot of time eating with me, so you never see me eat this much.” She shrugged as she stuffed the final piece of meat into her mouth. “Okay, let’s go. Jinyoung deserves a birthday cake.” She excitedly clapped her hands together and left the table to pay.
“She’s so skinny, where does the meat go?” Jinyoung muttered in disbelief as they watched her.
“I don’t know dude, it’s better not to ask. God, I feel like my stomach’s going to burst.” He let out another groan as he stood up and helped Jinyoung stand up. Haneul returned while slipping her purse back into her bag,
“Okay, let’s go and buy Jinyoung a cake before it gets dark.”
“You’re driving.” Jackson slapped his keys into her hands and the three of them headed out of the restaurant.
»»————- ————-««
“Don’t forget this.” Haneul handed the box to Jinyoung. Right after they had eaten, Haneul took them to a dessert cafe and ordered bingsu and a cake but since Jackson and Jinyoung were pretty much deemed immobile from eating too much, they had to pack the cake.
“Why don’t you take it?” Jinyoung mumbled out as he turned around to look at her. She furrowed her brows,
“Why me? It’s your birthday cake.” She held out the box to him. Jinyoung hesitated but decided to just take it anyway,
“Thanks for today, Haneul noona.” He smiled at her. She lightly punched his arm and smiled,
“Anything for my boys. Drive safe, Jackson.” She waved at them as she climbed out of the car.
“Bye, Haneul noona!” The two waved at her as Jackson started to drive.
“Did you enjoy your birthday?” Jackson asked, glancing over at Jinyoung.
“Of course. I got to spend the whole day with my favourite things. You two, my class and grilled pork belly.” He chuckled as he leaned back in the seat, ready to just pass out in his bed from their day.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I feel like you don’t spend enough time on yourself.” Jackson hummed out. “You’re too hard on yourself sometimes, Jinyoung.”
“Am I?” Jinyoung turned to Jackson to see him nod.
“You need to relax.” He took his hands off of the wheel to show him what relax was but it only stressed Jinyoung out and made him reach over and grab onto the wheel,
“That’s not relaxing.” He snapped. Jackson chuckled at him and placed his hands back onto the wheel.
“What’s your life plan?” He questioned.
“Well, I’ll work as a teacher until I have to retire, then I’ll just work at the library near our place until I die.” Jinyoung shrugged. Jackson frowned slightly,
“What about your soulmate?” He asked.
“What about my soulmate?” He turned to Jackson in confusion.
“Are you planning on looking for them?” He asked. Jinyoung stared at him before turning out to look outside of the window,
“I don’t know. I don’t really feel like letting more people into my life.” He sighed out.
“They’re still your soulmate.” Jackson pointed out.
“Yeah, they are, but you know how I am. It takes a while for me to let someone in and even with you, I only let you in because I’ve known you for so long.” He explained, the corner of his lip lifting slightly.
“Are you going to avoid them then?” Jackson questioned further.
“Well, not really. I’m just not gonna do anything unless they show up, you know?” Jinyoung hummed out, “I’m not going to actively search for them and I guess I’ll just wait and see what the universe has in store for me.”
“Are you not thinking about getting married?” He asked.
“I’m not really bothered by that, I guess.” He shrugged. “I mean, this mask is a bit of a hassle sometimes.” He muttered out as he opened the visor to look into the mirror, “But I’m not as bothered by it as when I was in high school.” He said as he looked at his mask through the mirror. He touched the red nose of the mask and ran his hand over his masked cheekbone.
Jackson parked the car but stayed in the car, turning over to Jinyoung.
“I think I found my soulmate.” He muttered out, causing Jinyoung to turn to face him with wide eyes,
“Really?” Jackson nodded. “Why haven’t you taken off your mask yet?” Jinyoung questioned.
“She has two sides to her mask.” He sighed out, “She works in that cafe,” Jackson pointed into the cafe, the light illuminating the streets. It was already quite dark being the beginning of Autumn. “I looked inside the other day when I was walking past it. She has two sides. I don’t know if I’m the enemy side or the love side.” He bit his lip as he stared into the cafe.
“Why don’t you go find out?” Jinyoung questioned as he looked out towards the cafe as well. “It’s always worth finding out something if it’s about your soulmate.” He hummed out as he opened the car door and stepped out. “Let’s go find out.” He peeked his head back into the car to look at Jackson and gestured his head towards the cafe.
“What?” Jackson’s eyes widened from behind his mask as he watched Jinyoung close the car door and walk casually towards the cafe. He got out of the car and chased after his friend, “Wait, Jinyoung.” He grabbed Jinyoung’s arm once they were standing outside of the cafe. “What if my mask is her enemy?” He questioned doubtfully.
“Jacks, she’s right there. Isn’t it worth it to find out?” Jinyoung reasoned, raising an eyebrow. “Come on, Jackson. If you’re her enemy, I’ll let you live with me rent free until we die, okay?” He joked, trying to lighten the mood but Jackson gave him a look as he crossed his arms over his chest. “That was a bad joke, I’m sorry. But! Let’s just try.” He gave Jackson hopeful eyes.
“Fine, we’ll try.” Jackson gave in and let Jinyoung walk him into the cafe. Standing behind the counter was a girl with a pixie cut wearing a mask with two sides to it. One side being the same dog design as Jackson’s and the other side a black and white lace mask. She looked up when the bell at the door rang as her jaw dropped when she saw Jackson’s mask. “Is that a mortified look or an awed look?” Jackson questioned softly to his friend as they reached the counter.
“Hi, I’m Jinyoung and this is my friend Jackson.” Jinyoung stated simply before backing away from the two. Jackson turned around and pleaded for Jinyoung not to leave but he was quick to run out of the cafe to leave him to talk to the girl. Feeling proud of himself, Jinyoung walked across the street and made his way up the apartment building to his and Jackson’s shared apartment.
Luckily for him, their apartment had the perfect view of the street so that Jinyoung could see when Jackson would come out. After an hour and a half of just staring at the cafe, Jackson was nowhere to be seen. Instead, he had sent Jinyoung a text.
Wang Gae: I’m her soulmate!!!!! :D
Jinyoung smiled widely at the message. He was glad Jackson didn’t back out at the last minute and he decided against waiting up for his flatmate by heading into his bedroom to get sleep.
»»————- ————-««
Jinyoung stared into the full body mirror of his room, his eyes staring blankly towards his mask. His goddamn mask. He felt cursed with this thing on his face. His hand shakily moved up to his mask and he gripped the edges; he wanted to rip it off.
The digital clock on his desk read 2:49, he had to get up for work in a few hours, but he couldn’t sleep. Not when all he could think about was this damned mask.
He took a deep breath before pulling on the edge, a scream leaving his lips when he did. The pain… it was what he would describe as true agony. The feeling of trying to take his mask off before it’s time, it felt like he was ripping off his own face. But he wasn’t going to give up just yet.
Jinyoung composed himself with deep breaths as he held on both sides of his mask. Why did he suddenly hate his mask? Even he didn’t know. Was it because he knew Jackson was spending the night at his soulmate’s place? No, he was happy that his best friend finally got to take his mask off. Was he scared? Definitely.
He was so scared - terrified even - that he would die wearing this mask. At the moment, he felt as though he was more scared of the mask than death itself. If I take it off, I won’t worry about it too much. He thought to himself.
Jinyoung tightened his grip on the mask, preparing himself for the pain he knew he was going to feel. Even while knowing how painful it would be, he didn’t care; he just wanted the mask off. What he wanted, he was going to get. He was preparing for himself for the grueling pain he was going to put himself through.
He took one final deep breath before pulling on the mask, an agonized scream leaving his lips, but it didn’t stop him. He continued to pull on it. He could feel the pain starting to spread throughout his face and his fingers started feeling warm and wet. His breath hitched in his throat when he looked in the mirror. He felt something wet streaming down the side of his face and through the mirror he saw it; blood.
He felt his vision blur with tears as he looked down at his hands. His fingertips were covered with blood, a teardrop falling from his eye and dropping straight onto his hands. Jinyoung felt his mind wrench in anger and pain at the realisation that the mask had bested him.
Jinyoung’s form crumbled to the ground as he started sobbing, his tears mixing with the blood and making his whole face look like a nightmare. He covered his face with his hands as he sobbed, the blood from his hands starting to stain his white mask but he didn’t care.
When he finally came to, his hands looked as though he had just murdered someone and blood was still dripping from the skin he had actually ripped while trying to pull the mask off. He looked into the mirror shakily and saw the state his face was in.
The white that covered the apples of his cheeks were completely smeared and stained with blood, his jawline had a line on blood running along it and at his chin was a single drop of blood, waiting for gravity to pull it down and onto the ground.
The sight of his fragile state made him release another sob and he brought his knees to his chest as he cried. Maybe he did want to find his soulmate. Whether it was the need to take his mask off or the need to be with his soulmate, he couldn’t tell. He just knew that he was terrified - so very terrified of what the mask has in store for him.
»»————- ————-««
“Jinyoung, wake the fuck up! We’re going to be late!” Jackson’s voice called through Jinyoung’s bedroom door. Jinyoung let out a groan as he sat up from the floor, the alarm blaring from his phone that was haphazardly placed on his bed the night before. “Jinyoung!” Jackson called once again.
“I’m up!” Jinyoung groggily called back as he stood up. He caught sight of himself from the mirror and had to admit he looked terrible. His arms, neck, jaw and mask were smeared and sticky from the blood and tear mixture and his hair disheveled.
He moved closer to the mirror to check on the wound he had inflicted but to his surprise, his skin was completely fine. His cheeks didn’t feel tender like he thought they would and there was no marking indicating that he had tried to rip his mask off.
Another thump to his door signalled Jackson’s fear of getting to the kindergarten late and Jinyoung jumped when he heard it. He turned around to check the clock and realised he only had less than twenty minutes to get ready. Taking a quick shower and just throwing on his favourite peach coloured hoodie and a pair of jeans, he was ready to go.
Jinyoung decided to just style his hair in the car and opened the door only to have Jackson shoving a paper bag into his hands and head towards the front door all the while with a piece of toast hanging from his mouth.
Jinyoung took a moment before following Jackson out of their apartment - grabbing his coat in the process - and down to his car.
“Wanna explain why you woke up so late? You’re lucky I came over early.” Jackson huffed out as he started driving. Jinyoung stalled his answer as he pulled the visor down and started to do his hair.
“I had a rough night.” He finally answered when he felt Jackson turn to look at him while he was combing his fingers through his hair.
“What happened?” He asked. “Wait, is that blood?!” Jackson’s brows furrowed in panic when he saw a smudge of blood on Jinyoung’s mask. Jinyoung stopped his hands and moved his attention to his mask and saw a tiny red fingerprint on the edge of his mask.
“Shit.” He cursed as he started to wipe it with his fingers, letting out a relieved sigh when he managed to wipe it off. “Okay, so, I tried taking my mask off.” He confessed and turned to Jackson with a sheepish look.
“You WHAT?!” He yelled, the car accidentally swerving, Jinyoung immediately grabbed onto the dashboard when it did,
“Jackson?!” He questioned when he got the car back in control. A horn from a nearby car made Jackson raise his hand in apology to the driver before glancing over at Jinyoung.
“You tried to take your mask off?!” Jackson asked with pure panic and disbelief in his voice. Jinyoung nodded,
“Well, ‘take’ is a bit of an understatement. I tried ripping it off.” He sighed out.
“Jinyoung! How far did you go if there was blood?!” Jackson scolded, “What if you got seriously hurt? What if you had ripped your whole face off and I wasn’t there?” He practically interrogated him.
“Well, it’s a good thing you weren’t home since I was just screaming the entire time.” Jinyoung light heartedly laughed in an attempt to make Jackson laugh but when Jackson glared at him instead he immediately stopped his laughter.
“Why did you try to take off your mask? I thought you had no problem with it?” He squinted his eyes as he continued to try and face Jinyoung while driving.
“Well, it seems like I have a bigger problem with it than I thought. I’m scared of what this mask is hiding.” Jinyoung let out another sigh as he looked out the window. His sudden feeling of vulnerability made it hard for him to look Jackson in the eyes. “I thought if I could take the mask off, I wouldn’t have to worry about finding my soulmate. I don’t want to die wearing this mask, Jackson. What if I never find my soulmate and I have to wear this thing forever?” He questioned, his voice breaking when he reached the end of his sentence.
Jackson took one last glance at Jinyoung, a soft sigh leaving his lips.
“Jinyoung, when I told you you were too hard on yourself, this is exactly what I meant. You bottle everything up and when you least expect it, it explodes. You never talk about these things with me, Haneul noona or anyone.” Jackson scolded him lightly, “You can’t do that all the time. One day, your heart’s going to burst so bad that you might actually rip that mask off of your face.” He warned.
Jinyoung bit his lip as he thought about it. Did he really have that problem? He honestly never really thought that he needed to talk about his feelings whenever he felt down. Maybe that was why it hit him so hard the night before.
“Maybe I do need to find my soulmate.” He let out a soft sigh.
“If you wanna look for them, I can keep my eyes out if you’d like.” He offered. Jinyoung turned to Jackson and smiled slightly,
“Thanks, Jackson.”
“Anything for my best friend.” He smiled and took one hand off of the wheel to give Jinyoung a reassuring squeeze to his shoulder. “I’ve spent so long looking at that fox mask, I bet I wouldn’t be able to miss it if I saw someone else wearing it.” He joked.
“Millions of other people also have fox masks.” Jinyoung rolled his eyes playfully.
“But only one other person has the same as yours.” Jackson added. He parked the car in the lot of the kindergarten and grabbed onto Jinyoung’s arm when he was about to leave the car. “Jinyoung, if you need anything at all, you know you can just ask me, right?” He sent a comforting gaze towards Jinyoung.
“I know I can, Jackson. It’s just hard talking to someone sometimes and I’m sorry I made you worry.” He flashed Jackson a reassuring smile. “I promise if anything’s bothering me, I’ll talk it out with you.”
“You promise?” He questioned as he climbed out of the car.
“Promise.”
“Okay, good, because you can’t break promises with me or I’ll get sulky.” Jackson huffed out as the two made their way into the kindergarten building. The sound of excited children started to fill their ears, their bodies welcoming the buzz.
“Stop it! Get into class!” Haneul’s exasperated voice called as she chased three of her students around in the hallways. Jackson and Jinyoung let out a laugh at the sight but Jackson was quick to let out a sigh when he saw that one student that would always cause trouble in his class running around the hallways as well.
“I’ll see you during break.” Jackson sighed as he trudged over to try and get the student into his class. To Jinyoung’s expectations, all of his students were nicely sitting inside of his class and calmly playing with each other.
“Jinyoung seonsaengnim!” Jae’s face quickly lit up when he saw him step in. “We have a new friend!” He excitedly announced as he pointed to the new face. The five year old boy was sitting beside Jun Hee shyly looking up at Jinyoung.
“Hello there.” He waved at the child who responded with a shy wave of his hand. He proceeded to crouch in front of the boy so he could be eye level with him, “I’m Jinyoung seonsaengnim, what’s your name?” He asked gently.
“Chang Min.” The boy whispered out, avoiding eye contact with Jinyoung.
“You don’t have to be so shy around Jinyoung seonsaengnim. Jun Hee likes him a lot.” Jun Hee smiled at the boy.
“Yeah! Jinyoung seonsaengnim is nice!” Eun Ha spoke up from her seat across the class. Chang Min turned to Jun Hee who nodded before turning to Jinyoung.
“I promise I’m not scary.” Jinyoung reassured him jokingly. A smile broke onto Chang Min’s face which caused Jinyoung to smile as well. “Promise me you’ll behave in my class, okay?” He ruffled Chang Min’s hair as he stood up and began his class.
He decided now would be a decent time to start with the basics to Korean grammar, creating a little game that they could play to help them memorise the particles properly. By the time class had gone by, Chang Min was way more extroverted than he was when the day began.
“Chang Min-ah,” Jinyoung called out as the students were clearing their belongings. “Did you have fun?” He questioned him. The young boy nodded,
“You’re nicer than my other teacher. That teacher was mean. But Jinyoung seonsaengnim is nice!” He smiled toothily at Jinyoung, melting his heart unknowingly. He waited until all of the students had left before he slipped on his coat and headed out of the classroom.
The sound of laughing and screaming children quickly filled his ears as he watched all of the classes quickly empty. He caught sight of Jackson chasing one of his students around and let out an amused chuckle.
“Don’t forget to do your homework!” He called out as the boy ran out of the front doors to the kindergarten. He turned to Jinyoung who was watching with amusement plastered all over his face. “That kid’s going to make my hair turn grey faster.” He grumbled as he walked over to him.
“Looks like it’s already happening.” Jinyoung joked as he pretended to search Jackson’s hair. Jackson retaliated by swatting his hand away,
“You’re lucky your class is so nice to you.” He clicked his tongue jokingly.
“Jinyoung seonsaengnim!” A child’s voice called from the end of the hallway. “Jinyoung seonsaengnim!” The two turned around to see Chang Min running through the crowded hallway and towards them. He tugged on the bottom of Jinyoung’s coat to make sure he had his attention.
“What is it?” Jinyoung questioned as he crouched down.
“My mama has the same mask as yours!” He pointed to Jinyoung’s fox mask. He furrowed his brows but also felt his heart skip a beat.
“Same… mask?” He questioned slowly. Chang Min nodded.
“Chang Min-ah!” A voice called from the end of the hallway. Jinyoung looked up to see a woman running towards them. The first thing he noticed was how she seemed to radiate beauty, the second thing he noticed was her mask.
Her white and red fox mask.
“Mama! This is Jinyoung seonsaengnim! I told you his mask was the same as yours!” Chang Min excitedly announced when he turned around to who Jinyoung assumed to be his mother.
“Chang Min-ah, don’t run off…” The woman began to take Chang Min’s hand but she trailed off when she saw Jinyoung’s mask. “Oh my god.” She breathed out with wide eyes. Jinyoung slowly stood up and he looked down at Chang Min before back up at her and he could feel his heart shattering.
“Y-Your mask.” He stuttered out the only words that would leave his lips. He had more to say, more to ask, but he simply couldn’t will the words out of his mouth.
“Uhm, miss, I’ll watch your son while you two talk.” Jackson cleared his throat. The woman let Chang Min go along with Jackson and turned back to Jinyoung.
“You have my mask.” The woman softly pointed out.
“And you have a son.” Jinyoung muttered out. She nodded at that,
“But he doesn’t have a father.” The words came out as almost a whisper. For a moment, Jinyoung forgot how to breath as he stared at her with wide eyes. He felt the pieces of his heart were slowly bringing themselves back together and he felt a weight lifting from his shoulders.
“Does that mean…” He trailed off.
“Yes. I don’t have a husband or a boyfriend.” She finished for him with a soft smile. “May I?” She questioned as she lifted her hands to the edge of his mask. Jinyoung took a moment to understand what she meant and he nodded when he did.
Her fingers gripped the white edges of his mask and he held his breath, expecting the same pain from the night before but instead, his mask slipped off effortlessly. He let out the breath he was holding, his eyes finally seeing the world without the rims of the mask in his vision and he lifted his own hands up to the woman’s face. He waited until she nodded and he pulled her mask off.
“Wow.” He breathed out when he saw her full face. She stared at his face, taking in his gorgeous features. His beautifully sun kissed skin, his perfect cheekbones, his perfect nose.
“You’re beautiful.” She whispered as she let her hand hover above his skin.
“You are too.” A smile crept onto his face when she blushed and pulled her hand away from his face.
“I’m (Y/n).” She introduced herself.
“I’m Jinyoung, but I guess Chang Min already told you.” A chuckle left his lips and hers as well.
“He did. The first thing he mentioned was that our masks were the same, then he kept saying that you were way nicer than his previous teacher.” She smiled as they turned to walk towards the door.
“If you don’t mind me asking, where’s Chang Min’s biological father?” Jinyoung questioned cautiously, not wanting to offend her in any way.
“I adopted him when my cousin passed away. She raised him on her own when her boyfriend left her when she was eight months along. She didn’t make it through labour, so I decided to take him in.” She hummed out.
“Does he know he’s adopted?” He asked, wanting to know if he should be more careful around Chang Min.
“Yeah he does.” She nodded, “I told him that even if I’m not his real mummy, I still love him to bits and that there are going to be times where people are going to use it against him but he needs to keep himself grounded.” She spoke softly, well aware of what was going to happen when he gets into school. Of course he was going to get bullied, (Y/n) just needed to make sure that he would be strong enough to push forward.
“That’s admirable.” Jinyoung stated, making her whip her head to look at him. “Not a lot of parents tell their kids they’re adopted.” She nodded at that,
“I don’t want him to be scared of who he is. I’m scared that hiding it longer might make it harder for him to process it.” She shrugged as she glanced over to look at him. “I know everyone has different opinions, but I like this plan. I just hope he doesn’t have to suffer so much.” She sighed out.
“If he does, he’ll have you around.” Jinyoung reassured her. She turned to him and smiled at him,
“Maybe he’ll have you around, too.” She suggested as she pushed open the front door to the kindergarten. His eyes widened. “He could use a father figure, and he already really likes you. I mean, we are soulmates after all.”
Jinyoung could feel himself starting to smile like an idiot. He watched as she stepped out of the building further to where Chang Min and Jackson were. He looked down at the mask in his hands; this was what it had planned.

Actor! Wooyoung this has been in my drafts too long not proofread
“Jung Wooyoung ! Jung Wooyoung !” the paparazzi was shouting , questions all shouted out at once .
The actor simply turned around with a smile, waving at his fans who cheered for him.
He continued along the red carpet , his fitted suit complimenting his figure greatly
“yah , isn't he handsome ?” you coo , seated right in front of the TV.
“do you wish to spoil you eyes ? Sit on the couch and watch,” your mother tuts and you pouted , complying before glueing your eyes back to the TV.
“I don't know what's so good about that guy anyway but ---'s got their heart set on him,” your elder sister , Minhee complains , wanting to change the channel but your hand wouldn't part with the remit even if Jesus came back down to earth and said so.
And it was all because you had the biggest crush on your childhood friend.
“You know we're going to his home later for the party , right ? Just tell him you like him or something ,” your sister shrugged . You snorted.
“He gets confessed to every second of the day , have you seen him ? Why on earth would he pick me over some of those awesome people ?” you retort back.
“I was trying to be the good older sibling but I guess since you're being a pain in the ass I'll just tell it straight to you , okay ? You and that guy over there have known each other for long . Haven't seen each other for awhile and now you are . This is literally the universe saying hurry the fuck up you shy bitch,” she stands , leaving into her room . You sighed.
Just take a chance right ? You never know .
So you sighed , putting on something that suited youand making sure you didn't look like a hot mess.
After all , the party was for close friends and families not actors and actresses.
When you arrived at the house you were surprised to see it looked like any other , albeit you could hear dolphin shrieks from the outside.
“Wah , --- ! You're all grown up ! Wooyoung,” you didn't even have time to panic before someone answered and you turned to see not a suit clad playboy in all black but a young boy wearing a smile , a sweater vest on and in comfortable clothes.
Wooyoung's grin grew as he pat his younger brother on the back , sending him away in a fit of laughter and waving to some kids before running over to the door.
“Yes , mum ?” he hummed . Mrs Jung pressed her lips together.
“Wooyoung , this is --- , you both used to be super close when you were little,” she introduced you .
“Wah~ Wooyoung-ah , you look just as dashing as you do on TV !” your mother said in awe and Wooyoung chuckled , brushing off the compliment.
“Young-ah , have you forgotten us ?” your older sister asks bravely.
“How can I forget you guys ? Ever-brave Minhee , Mrs --- and the timid ---,” he smirked . You blinked in shock.
“I am not shy ,” you got defensive , all thoughts of trying to confess gone from your mind .
“Is that so ? Good job then . Come on inside , it must be cold,” he ushered all of you in , your mother busy compliment him for how much he'd grown to be a gentleman.
You faced the kids that were running around the house , nearly swept up amongst the chaos . Most of the adults were drinking in the garden.
“Hey , ---” a soft voice shocked you by how close it was . Wooyoung's chin was nearly on your shoulder , the playful young man having had whispered in your ear .
He laughed as you jumped back.
“There's a room upstairs where the cool kids are. San , Mingi , Yeosang and Yunho are up there too. Wanna join us ?” he hummed . You blinked , pointing at yourself.
“Me ? But I'm am awkward potato ,” you answered . He snorted.
“Minhee's coming too if it makes you feel more comfortable . Their plus ones are in the room too so there'll be other women,” he tried to relax you . Well it did work .
“okay,” you give in and he grins , looking over his shoulder and summoning MinHee with a dolphin shriek you hadn't heard in a while.
Wooyoung and his personas were truly world apart.
He turned to you with a grin that made your heart flutter , grabbing your hand and bringing you up to the room
To hell with being a famous actor
“Come on in,” he had a boyish grin on his face as he opened a door and immediately , everyone turned to you.
“Oh hey , new people !” Yunho clapped , waving
Your sister had stopped her shirt jog up the stairs behind you , waving.
“Two new people,” wooyoung hummed and ushered you two in.
“Hello I'm Yeosang," they started to introduce themselves as though they weren't famous actors.
“Hello , I'm Minhee ------,” your sister smiled , taking a seat amongst the famous
“I'm ---,” you managed a smile , sitting on the floor near Wooyoung and San.
“shall we play a game ?” Hana , a friend of Mingi's suggested.
“Like what ?” Wooyoung hugged his knees , eyes sparkling.
“A classic-” Hana pulled out an empty bottle of cider-“Spin the bottle. Or we could get soy sauce and play truth or drink,”
She also suggested. That was creative.
“We don't do incest though if Minhee or --- spin and land on each other it ain't counted,” she added and everyone collectively nodded.
“So everyone else has no exceptions ?” Haneul , Yunho's friend asked. Wooyoung nodded , making her cheer.
“Okay but if anyone's uncomfortable they can be excused ,” Wooyoung glanced around the circle you all had made , eyes lingering slightly on you who was right next to him.
“speak now or forever hold your peace,” Haru , San's friend , bellowed comedically.
“timid ---”
if that was how Wooyoung saw you , it was definitely going to change.
“Okay then. Who wants to go first ?” Wooyoung asked and Yunho raised his hand.
“Hope my luck helps , I've got my eyes on someone,” he winked your way with a wide grin as the circle cheers.
Sure enough , the bottle lands on you.
Yunho punched the air and a giggle left your lips .
“Come here,” he spoke in English , gesturing with his two fingers and an excited smile.
“yah , don't break her; it's her first kiss !” Min Hee cried and the circle cheered louder than before disbelieving smiles on some of their faces.
“i'll go easy” Yunho winked , pulling you close.
And that was your first kiss which was also the first kiss of the night.
And after that it was chaos , your sister was definitely going to be gay , Wooyoung had kissed a number of his guests and you had the luck of not being kissed by anyone else.
“My turn,” Wooyoung grinned as your bottle stopped on your sister once more .
“Wah , --- has the worst luck . Yah , Jeong Yunho , did you steal her luck when you kissed her ?” Haru fake gasped ,“is that how you're so lucky ?”
Everyone laughed as Wooyoung gave the gave the bottle a hard spin .
And so it spun .
And spun .
And spun .
And spun-
“Yah Wooyoung , you spun it too hard !” stop.
Wooyoung grinned as you looked up from the bottle that was very clearly pointing at you.
“Shall we ?” wooyoung grinned .
“someone's excited,” Haneul grinned , nudging at Min Hee.
“sure-” unlike gentle Yunho who had slowly guided you and cupped your face , kissing you softly , Wooyoung grabbed your chin and pressed your lips together.
Once your lips were together it truly felt like everything was right as he smiled into the kiss and took things slower.
If only you could see everyone's grins .
He pulled away , wiping his lips with the back of his hand as the guests in the room burst into applause , Yeosang and Yunho taking the chance to compliment the kiss .
“Perfect skills . A little sloppy on wooyoung's end but-” Wooyoung threw a pillow at Yeosang shyly and the room burst into laughter.
“Wooyoung-ah , this is the perfect for me to bring this up . ---'s got something to tell you,” you threw a glare at your smug older sister before turning to Wooyoung who had an eyebrow raised and a soft smile .
“Well , I've just been meaning to tell you that well , I have a crush on you,” you rubbed your nape with a blush creeping up your cheeks, not looking him in the eye.
The room softened .
“shit should have brought popcorn-” Hana mumbled and Haru elbowed her.
Wooyoung tilted your chin up.
“a little louder please ,” he grinned.
“I like you , dummy,” you smiled and he returned it , about to reply when Yeosang cut him off.
“You know , this is a great time because I've actually been getting sick of him showing us photos of you and talking about-”
“Yah Kang Yeosang you snitch !” and in a matter of seconds Wooyoung , with a sweatshirt's hood pulled over his head to hide his face , was chasing Yeosang around the house .
And that's how you got yourself a secret boyfriend.

ROSEHA’S CONNECTIONS
𝙃𝘼𝙉𝙀𝙐𝙇 (𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙈𝙄𝙎𝙀) ➝ 𝘽𝙀𝙎𝙏 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘿
— they’re both absolute sweethearts :(( they love each other so much and it’s hard for them to be sad around one another
— they uhhhh tend to get emotional very easily
— haneul is usually quite formal with other idols outside her group because she takes her job seriously, but with roseha she’s able to let her hair down
— haneul knows some english, but roseha would teach her some stan twitter terms and modern slang
haneul belongs to @iprcmiseyou
𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙊 (𝙎𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙀𝙀𝙉) ➝ 𝘾𝙇𝙊𝙎𝙀 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘿
— their dancing styles mirror one another’s very well
— pretty serious around each other, they mainly just talk about dancing
— but sometimes they’re both underrated comedians and frequently make each other laugh
— the ‘it duo’ of kpop
𝙎𝙐𝙉𝙒𝙊𝙊 (𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘽𝙊𝙔𝙕) ➝ 𝙂𝙊𝙊𝘿 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘿
— because sunwoo understands but doesn’t speak english, roseha makes an effort to teach him
— they both act pretty maturely for their ages
— both of them are pretty artistic
𝙎𝙊𝙃𝙀𝙀 (𝙀𝙇𝙍𝙄𝙎) ➝ 𝙂𝙊𝙊𝘿 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘿
— they’re both visuals, dancers, and faces of the group
— both pretty chatty, so they end up gossiping whenever they’re together
— they get complimented on their visuals a lot
— they do be kinda dance queens tho 😳

for Kin, hobby! for haneul, parachute! for saaiqa, psyhe!! and for all 3, contact!!!
Hobby: what do they love? what captivates them? what are their passions?
Kin loves swords and knives. She has perfected her skills at the forge (with the help from her control over metal as a Metal Mage). She loves trying out new skills at the forge (like rainbow knives and glass knives) and making her friends weapons.
Parachute: who does your OC(s) trust the most? who makes them feel safe? who would they do absolutely anything for?
Haneul trusts their family the most but in the group, they feel the most safe with Kin because when the apocalypse comes for the world, they know Kin will survive. And, both being the only two from outside of Arizona on the base around the same age, they hung out together and now just chill each doing their own thing. Hani would do anything for their family and after being in Arizona for nearly four years they have kinda warmed up to the group and would probably do most things for them as long as they wouldn’t die.
Psyche: what’s their head space like? do they have any mental illnesses? how do they process difficult or emotional situations? what are their coping mechanisms?
Saaiqa has dealt with an emotional roller coaster in the past couple of years but has been getting much better since she’s transitioned but occasionally she doesn’t feel “feminine” enough. When that happens she puts on her favorite eye shadow and lipstick and goes out shopping. The others have started going with her too and make sure she doesn’t spend too much money and support her however they can.
Contact: how does your OC(s) feel about touch/physical contact? are they affectionate? if so, how do they display affection to others?
Kin loves warm hugs and sitting next to her friends, piled on the couch after a long day. She shows others affections by playing with their hair, pushing it out of their face, and leaning on their shoulders when she’s tied.
Haneul doesn’t like being touched unless they knows the person really well so, once again, it’s only their family they’re okay with. They shows affection by being outright in compliments and buying the person small things to lighten up their day.
Saaiqa likes leaning on people and occasionally getting nose bobbed/ bobbing others. Like Hani she likes buying things for others but she also likes doing their favorite things with the person.

Only 6 Months (CEO!Jungkook x Barista!OC) Part 7
Thank you to everyone who’s been reading this! It’s nice to know that people are enjoying this story!
Summary: Who knew that pretending to be in love could create such chaos?
Words: 3,300+ Genre: angst with some fluff?
Part 1 - Part 6 - Part 8
⇨ Masterlist ⇦
It was only a few minutes until the business party was supposed to happen as Chaerin took a deep breath. She was completely ready, wearing one of the prettiest dresses she had ever seen, and her makeup looked perfect. She was nervous yet excited at the same time about Jungkook seeing her in the dress she was wearing.
She felt a sigh escape her lips as she sat down on the bed in the room she was in. She wasn’t even sure who’s room she was in or even if it was anyone’s room in particular. His place seemed to be big enough for several families to live in it with a single room available for every person.
She looked at her phone and slightly pouted at the lack of messages from her friends, but at the same time, it was to be expected. She hadn’t talked to any of them all that much recently, especially Hyomin and Nari. Neither of them seemed to be around the apartment anymore, but then again, she wasn’t either.
“Oh- I’m sorry. Uh…”
Chaerin looked up from her phone and saw a male who looked about her age standing in the doorway. She stood up and bowed, “Mianhae, I was using this room to get ready and I didn’t realize it was yours!”
She looked back up at the male when she heard a soft laugh. He walked up to her and looked her up and down before holding out his hand.
“My name is Joohyun. I don’t believe I’ve met you.”
She took his hand hesitantly and took in a sharp breath as his lips found the back of her hand. She felt her ears grow hot and she suddenly felt ten times more awkward to be in the room with this guy.
His lips lingered on her hand as his eyes looked at her. He released her hand as a smirk made a home on his face. He seemed to be satisfied with the fact that she was flustered as he moved closer to her.
Chaerin swallowed nervously as she noticed the guy was practically cornering her with her only escape to be jumping over the bed. She probably would have done as much if it hadn’t been for the fact that the dress she was wearing was very short and it would be easy for him to see her underwear if she tried to use the bed as an escape route.
“U-Uhm,” she choked out while still backing away from him, “I’m assuming you know Jungkook?”
She felt a celebration being thrown in her head as the guy’s eyebrows raised and he took a step back. Maybe he worked for Jungkook and he was afraid of being fired if he tried anything with her?
“Little Jeon? Of course I know him,” he replied, an amused smile forming on his face. Was he already back to being a creep? She should probably make a run for it…
She slipped past him easily and rushed to the exit, but she heard the guy following behind her. Her curiosity forced her to turn back to look at how close he was, and she let out a surprised scream to see that he was right behind her.
“I-I have somewhere to be,” she choked out, but the guy just laughed at her.
“Are you really the type of girl Jeon is into? I thought he’d have a better taste than this.” He said with an expressionless look on his face. Chaerin looked at him in disbelief as her eyes narrowed.
“Excuse me? That was incredibly rude.” She snapped.
“And you’re incredibly annoying.” He snapped back with a satisfied look on his face. “Jeon would probably dump you in a heartbeat once he found a prettier girl. Your looks are so bland.”
“My looks are fine, thank you,” she stepped up to him as if to challenge him, “Jungkook has told me plenty of times how great he thinks I look.”
“Probably all lies,” he shrugged as he looked at his watch, “Jeon won't marry someone like you. He should be marrying Irene.”
Chaerin paused and blinked for a few seconds, “Irene? You know Irene?”
“Of course,” he laughed, “so not only are you ugly, but you’re an outsider, too? I give you another week before he throws you to the curb.”
“What makes you think I'm an outsider?” She attempted to challenge him, but she knew she was probably going to lose.
“I know you’re an outsider. You’re ugly, annoying, and you don't even know that I'm the future CEO to Haneul Group.”
Chaerin froze at what his last statement was. He was the future CEO of Haneul Group? What was he doing in Jungkook’s house?
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I'm going to go find my sister. She should be busy making out with your fiancé as we speak.” He smirked at her as Chaerin’s face turned red. Why was he so confident that Jungkook was making out with Irene? Jungkook made it out to seem like he hated her...
She pushed those thoughts out of her mind as she made her way toward Jungkook’s room, hoping that Irene wasn't with him. She might just vomit if she saw the two of them kissing each other.
Chaerin looked at her phone as she sighed. It was nearly time for the party to start and Jungkook wouldn't answer his phone. He wasn't in his room when she checked, and she didn't know her way around the house well enough to go searching for him. She asked one of the maids to escort her to the front of the house as she sat in what she suspected was supposed to be the living room.
She texted him a few times asking him where he was and a few more times to update him on where she was waiting. She still wasn't getting any response from him.
She took a deep breath and tried to push that guy’s voice out of her head. He was not making out with Irene- that would make this current situation pointless.
It had been another five minutes until she heard the sound of footsteps walking down the stairs. Chaerin looked up hopefully as she waited for the person to come into sight, but once the person did, she felt her heart drop.
Irene was standing near the front door while applying lipstick to her lips. She spotted her and smirked, licking her lips while looking at her.
“Your fiancé tastes amazing,” she winked as Chaerin swallowed, trying to ignore her words. She looked away from her, but Irene wasn't done yet.
“I know you two are fake. If you weren't, he wouldn't have kissed me.” She winked before exiting the building. Chaerin kept telling herself over and over again that it was a lie. Irene was just saying that to get under her skin.
That was up until Jungkook finally headed downstairs with a hint of lipstick on his lips.
It wasn't going to last, anyway. She thought to herself as she tried to put on an act that everything was fine.
“Okay, I need you to be as sneaky as possible,” Taehyung looked to Nari as they sat in the parking lot in front of the party. “Don't let Jungkook or Chaerin see you. If anyone asks, you’re my date and you keep getting lost because I'm horrible at giving instructions.”
Nari laughed and nodded, giving Taehyung and thumbs up, “Got it. Chaerin is really unobservant, so I'm not worried about being spotted. I'm just worried Jungkook might see me and recognize me.” Nari took a second to think about the night she met him, “Well, actually, with how I look now… he might not know who I am.”
Taehyung laughed and looked Nari in the eyes, “I think that you look the same… because no matter if you're in pajamas or in a 1,000 dollar dress, you still look beautiful.”
Nari looked down and felt a smile sneak onto her face, “thank you… you don't have to compliment me so much.”
“Omomo! You’re so cute,” he giggled as he grabbed Nari’s chin and made her look up at him, “I'll compliment you as much as I want to~.”
Nari smiled and let a giggle out as she nodded, “Arraseo~.”
Taehyung let go of her chin and opened his car door, “Alright, I’ll go in first and then you’ll head in after me in a minute. Stay clear of Jungkook and Chaerin at all costs!”
Nari nodded and held up her arms with closed fists, “Fighting!”
“Fighting!” Taehyung copied with a smile on his face before closing the door and leaving Nari alone in his car.
The party had been going on for an hour or so as Chaerin was able to keep up a happy act. Jungkook didn't seem to notice as he kept her at his side pretty much the whole time. The party was more of a dinner party than anything, but Jungkook never really sat down to eat. He had Chaerin follow him around almost the whole time, which confused her because there were a lot of single young women in the room. He could go flirt with them if he didn't make it look like he was with her.
She sighed and leaned against the wall after finally breaking apart from Jungkook. She felt defeated and nothing was shaking that feeling off of her.
“Chaerin, annyeong!”
She looked up and spotted Taehyung who was smiling and waving, “I thought you'd be here.”
She nodded and waved back, “I've been with Jungkook all night. I guess you haven't seen him?”
“Nope,” he shrugged, “but I've been walking around talking to everyone tonight. It’s been fun but I'm exhausted!”
Chaerin nodded once again, “I'm tired, too. Jungkook has been talking to people all night as I just followed him around. I wish he just let me go sit down because my feet are killing me…”
Taehyung frowned, “well why aren't you sitting down, now? You're not with him anymore.”
“I don't know,” Chaerin sighed, playing with her hair that was in a ponytail, “I didn't want to look for a seat I guess. I get to think about anything while standing alone over here.”
Taehyung studied her blank expression before he poked her arm, “yah, did you and Jungkook fight? You seem to be upset.”
Chaerin laughed and shook her head, “No… I just know he’s been talking to Irene today.” She didn't necessarily mean to let that information slip, but it was bugging her too much to not talk about it.
It was frustrating because she wanted to be pissed at him, but at the same time, they're not in a really relationship. Even if it’s someone as terrible as Irene, it’s not cheating.
But it hurts like hell…
“Whoa,” Taehyung’s eyes widened. “Jungkook hates Irene… why would he even attempt to talk to her? Do you know what it was about?”
“No.” She answered quickly. Her head was starting to hurt as she sighed and smiled sadly at Taehyung, “I'm sorry, but I think I'm going to head outside. I need some fresh air…”
Taehyung smiled at her to try and cheer her up a little bit, but it didn't seem to work, “Arasseo. I'm available to talk if you want to talk to anyone!”
She nodded at him but turned around to head outside immediately after. This party was becoming worse than the last one…
Nari was grabbing some punch when she felt a finger tap on her shoulder. She raised an eyebrow and turned around to spot the one and only Jeon Jungkook.
Her eyes widened as she almost dropped the punch on the ground. He helped her catch it as he nervously laughed.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you,” he apologized. She stiffly nodded as she tried her best not to look at him. She was praying that he wouldn't recognize her.
“I was wondering if you were here alone?” He asked. She swallowed and took a deep breath. Should she say yes?
“Uh, yeah,” she felt herself choking out as he just smiled at her. “Are you here alone?” She asked. She knew the answer, but since he didn't realize who she was, she might as well make sure he wasn't lying to the single girls that were here.
“Yeah, I'm alone,” he nodded, scratching the back of his neck.
Nari felt herself freeze a his words as she looked around the room for Chaerin. Maybe she didn't come? She hadn't seen her friend the entire time, so maybe that was it…
“Oh.” She coughed, “well, I'm going to head out. I've gotta be home soon…”
“Oh, really?” Jungkook looked disappointed as Nari felt more and more upset. Did Chaerin know he was hitting on other girls? Was it a part of some plan?
“Could I get your number? Maybe next time we could come to this party together?” He asked with a hopeful look on his face.
“Uh, it's alright. I don't like coming here with anyone,” she quickly lied as she began rushing away. Jungkook didn't say anything else to her as she rushed off, heading outside the building. She had seen enough for tonight…
As she got outside, she texted Taehyung and told him that she was ready to go when he was and that she would explain in the car. He replied back with a smiley face emoji, saying he would be out soon.
She was about to walk over to the bench she saw outside the building when she realized her friend was sitting on it alone. She looked so upset, like she might as well have tears streaming down her face and she wanted to go comfort her so bad…
She silently cursed herself for not being able to comfort her friend as she tried to look away and just ignore it. God it was hard to just leave her there with a frown on her face.
What was going on between her and Jungkook…?
“Are you ready to go?” Jungkook asked Chaerin as she walked back in. She looked so drained, but she tried to put a smile on her face while nodding.
Her feelings were eating her alive at this point. She had only known this guy for a month and only liked him for a few days and she was already feeling drained.
Jungkook didn't say anything else to her and he said goodbye to his friends. They all seemed to notice how upset she looked, but none of them said anything. Taehyung gave her a thumbs up as she left, but she could only give him a weak smile in reply.
“Whoa, Chaerin looked like she was sick,” Jimin frowned, “does Jungkook not care about his fiancé and brought her to a party while she’s sick?”
“I don't know…” Seokjin frowned, “something is so off about the two of them. I can't figure out why they seem so fake yet so real at the same time.”
Namjoon nodded in reply, “I don't know, I just hope Jungkook finds what he’s looking for before his time runs out. Hopefully Chaerin is what he was looking for.”
“Yeah…” Jimin trailed off before going back to eating his food.
Taehyung sat in silence as he sighed and stood up from the table. He dismissed himself and said goodbye to the rest of his friends as he headed outside to meet up with Nari.
He was hoping she had more answers, because he was feeling almost as confused as the rest of his friends.
“Are you alright?”
Chaerin looked up from her hands as she and Jungkook walked outside. He looked like he was really concerned, but she was almost too upset to care.
“I'm fine,” she lied as Jungkook sighed. He wasn't buying that.
“Did you see Irene at my house?” He asked as Chaerin froze. He took that as a yes. “I don't know what she told you, but whatever it was, forget it. She’s not going to hurt you or anything for being around me.”
Chaerin nodded and tried to smiled in response. Did he really think she threatened her? Does he think it's okay to rope girls into plans like this, only to turn around and make out with the enemy?
“Chae…” he frowned before looking around to make sure no one could here him. “Did she tell you that she knows our secret?”
Chaerin felt her heart drop once more. She was sick of hearing about Irene.
“No,” she said, taking a deep breath, “but I'm assuming she does.”
Jungkook let out a nervous laugh, “oh… yeah. She came to talk to me about it and practically blackmailed me. She made me make out with her or else she was going to do something to you.”
Chaerin looked up at Jungkook as he frowned, “I agreed to it, but it was horrible. It was like kissing a wet fish. I don’t know if she expected me to like her after that or what, but it was gross.”
Chaerin let a small smile appear on his face as Jungkook took that as a victory.
He wrapped his arm around her and started to guide her to his car, “Don't worry about her, alright? I won't let her hurt you.”
Chaerin sighed at his words as she tried to let them comfort her. It was really hard for her to do, though, because she had a bad feeling lingering in her mind. These feeling for him are going to be the death of her.
The two of them walked off to Jungkook’s car as Nari moved from behind the building. She had been on her way back in to see if Taehyung was going to head out any time soon, but on her way there she spotted Jungkook and Chaerin.
And she was more confused than ever.
Once Chaerin got home, she spotted Nari was in the kitchen. She was slightly confused that Nari was still awake since Jungkook had taken her to get coffee before taking her home. It was pretty late, and Nari wasn't someone that stayed up super late all the time.
“Hey,” Chaerin called, putting her coffee down on the kitchen island as she moved across from Nari. Nari looked up from her phone as Chaerin noticed she had a good bit of makeup on her face. “Oh, where did you go?”
“Nowhere special,” Nari shrugged as she tried to play it off as nothing, “I was just waiting for you to get home. Kiseung told me you were out with Jungkook and I wanted to make sure you made it home safe.”
Chaerin gave Nari a suspicious look, “since when did you care about something like that?”
“Well you two seem kinda serious,” she shrugged again, “I'm just uh… being a little protective I guess…”
“Okay…” Chaerin’s eyebrows creased, “but I'm fine. You should go to bed since you normally do. I don't want you to mess up your sleep schedule.”
“Yeah…” she started to pull away from the kitchen island as Chaerin watched her carefully. She was acting odd, but she was too tired to interrogate her. As she was almost out the kitchen, Nari turned around and took a deep breath.
“Are you and Jungkook really serious?”
Chaerin took a sup of her coffee before taking a deep breath. She was feeling super tired despite the coffee she was drinking, and she almost didn't have enough energy to question the weird questions that were being thrown at her.
“Uh, yeah,” she nodded, “I guess we’re pretty serious.”
Nari just nodded as she could feel her face turning white. Even Chaerin noticed that she was holding some words back, but neither of the commented on it.
“Well… Goodnight.” Nari nodded before turning around and rushing out of the room.
Thank you all for reading!

Pillow confessions — 2YEON
Title: Pillow confessions Pairing: 2YEON [Im Nayeon/Yoo Jeongyeon] Fandom: TWICE Genre: Romance, drama, fluff Summary: Nayeon's insecureties return when Jeongyeon admits she wants to see her child from her past relationship more. Whilst the mother and the child live only a block away, Nayeon is scared Jeongyeon isn't completely over her former lover and is only leading her on. Word count: 2000+ Rating: T A/N: Excuse the grammar mistakes, I am not a native english speaker.
Read it on: AO3 & asianfanfics
Up... Down... Up... Down... Again and again, the same pace. Nayeon was stuck in a dilemma. She had laid her head upon Jeongyeon's chest after they'd gone to bed together, with the intention to fall asleep together as well. Nayeon had always been bad at falling asleep, and it proved now again that she just wasn't able to fall asleep after five minutes. It took her at least an hour to fall asleep every night and only if it was completely dark and quiet in the room. Her girlfriend, Jeongyeon, was completely the oposite. It hadn't even been five minutes until her breathing had evened and her heartbeat had slowed down. Once in a while, she even let out a snore — it was actually very cute. But Nayeon therefor couldn't sleep. Whilst it was incredible comfertable to use Jeongyeon as a pillow like that, she also really wanted to see her face. She had seen it before; a sleeping Jeongyeon, but it was different now that they were finally dating. She had never allowed herself to think of her as cute whilst she was asleep. Jeongyeon always had this habit of letting her mouth fall open. The other members had often made fun of that, but Nayeon couldn't think of anything else that was as cute as that. And now that the brunette was hers entirely, she couldn't help but to want to admire her. Nayeon lifted her head up, as slowly as she could, to not wake up Jeongyeon. She shifted her position a little, so she could place her hand under her head so she could look at the other girl. A smile appeared on her lips at the sight of her. She was a bit dissapointed to see her mouth hadn't fallen open, but she wasn't exactly dissatisfied. Jeongyeon looked cute no matter what. Jeongyeon laid on her back, her arms by her side, one still draped over Nayeon's body to keep her close, the other half hanging besides the bed. One foot stack out from under te sheets and threatened to fall off the bed too. A snore left her mouth, causing Nayeon to chuckle softly. Jeongyeon slowly opened one eye, disturbed from her sleep. Nayeon wrapped her hand in front of her mouth to smore her chuckles. "Did I-.. Did I wake you up?" she asked softly. Jeongyeon opened her other eye, although not entirely. A lazy smile appeared on her face. "Yes, but I don't mind," she said. "Because it's you." Her hand shifted from Nayeon's waist to her hand to hold it. Nayeon intertwined their fingers willingly and smiled back to her girlfriend. "What were you doing anyway?" the brunette asked. "Watching you sleep," Nayeon aswered carelessly honest. Jeongyeon frowned her eyebrows jokily. "Yeah, that's of course not scary at all," she laughed. Nayeon gave her a slight push and pouted her lips cutely. "I couldn't sleep, okay! You were making all of these incredible loud snoring noises," she said. A sneaky grin appeared on her face. "That's not true, I don't snore!" Jeongyeon exclaimed loudly. Nayeon chuckled and bowed down to press a kiss upon her lips. "Sure, babe," she said. Jeongyeon huffed in dislike, but Nayeon noticed she wasn't really bothered with it. The younger girl pulled her closer. Nayeon laid down again and let her head rest upon Jeongyeon's chest once more. She let their legs intertwine and laid her hand upon the other girl's belly. Her fingers started to draw on her skin, tracing the outlines of a heart or a star or just Jeongyeon's name. She heard Jeongyeon chuckle; she had always been ticklish on her belly. "So what's on your mind?" Jeongyeon asked. Nayeon kept on drawing. "Nothing, why?" "Because you always draw on me or play with my hands whenever you're thinking of something," Jeongyeon said. "Just as I get silent when I'm scared." Nayeon looked up and pouted. Jeongyeon smiled and touched her lips with the tip of her fingers. "Just tell me," she said. "You know you can tell me anything, right." "I do, but it's so.. stupid," Nayeon said, while she let herself sink back onto Jeongyeon's chest again, using her as a comfertable pillow. Her girlfriend started to tuck the strands of hair that weren't wrapped in a ponytail behind her ear. When those were done, she moved over to run her fingers through her black hair. Nayeon closed her eyes and enjoyed the touches, almost forgetting the troubles that had been haunting her for the last couple of weeks. Almost. "I always tell you stupid things," Jeongyeon insisted. She didn't stop with running her fingers through her hair. Nayeon let out a sigh, nuzzling her face up closer against Jeongyeon's neck. "I'm worried..." she eventually admitted. "About...?" the brunette asked. Nayeon doubted for a moment whether she should say anything. If she told Jeongyeon what had gone through her mind these past few weeks then she couldn't go back. She didn't know how Jeongyeon might take it. Her girlfriend had never been mad at her when she expressed her worries to her, but this time it was selfish. Nayeon took a deep sigh. "About us. You. Me." Jeongyeon got silent for a moment. "Do you want to break up?" Jeongyeon's ever so loud voice had suddenly become quiet and soft, scared even. Nayeon quickly shook her head. "No, dumbass," she said. She heard her girlfriend sigh relieved. "Are you afraid that I don't love you, then?" Jeongyeon asked softly. Nayeon bit her lip. "No.. I mean- well, I don't know. Maybe. Perhaps. I know you love me but.." Nayeon sighed annoyedly because she couldn't express her feelings well. She got up from Jeongyeon's chest and moved over, so she could lay besides her, leaning on her elbow. Their eyes met and Nayeon already regretted saying anything at the sight of Jeongyeon's worried expression. "I love you, Im Nayeon, I do," Jeongyeon said seriously. Nayeon knew and nodded slowly. "I know.. I love you too," she replied. "Then what's the problem?" the younger girl asked confused. Nayeon thought to hear a hint of insecureness in her voice, an emotion that only rarely occured in Yoo Jeongyeon. Nayeon grabbed her hand again and pinched it to reassure her a bit, but mostly to tell herself that it was all okay. "I-I know I shouldn't be thinking such things.. and I know you love me, that we're in a relationship but.. I just can't-I can't help to think of you with.. with Areum. I dreamt about it, you know.. And I... Jeongyeon, you had a kid with her. You planned on getting married with her.. And I'm worried. You've been together for years. Only a year ago you told me you were planning on spending more time with your kid. Areum practically lives next door and I'm just... It's not that I'm annoyed but I think that it's more scaring me." Areum was the girl — no, woman — who had been engaged to Jeongyeon during her training period. Just before she debuted as a member of TWICE, the two broke up, but only after having adopted a baby together. They were planning on getting married as soon as Jeongyeon's scedule slowed down, but they never had their wedding day. Areum and Jeongyeon broke up right after TWICE debuted. Areum got full custody of their kid, Haneul, and Jeongyeon only got to see him once every two weeks. During their scedule she hadn't been able to see him that often and could only visit her son once every month. Now that things had slowed down again, after their Cheer up comeback, Jeongyeon had admitted to her that she wanted to see Haneul more. He was now one and a half year old and was able to walk already. She knew it made Jeongyeon sad she couldn't be with her child often. But being with Haneul more, also meant that she'd be around Areum more. Sometimes Nayeon couldn't help but to think that Jeongyeon's feelings for Areum weren't exactly gone. Normally, she wouldn't have minded. In fact, she liked kids a lot, so she probably would've joined... If only Areum wasn't around all the time. She lived two buildings away, and Nayeon often crossed her path whilst going to the convenience store to shop for snacks for the members. And damn, she was a beautiful woman. Jeongyeon had once told her that they met because of her sister. Areum used to be a good friend of Seungyeon, because they were trainees together. Whilst Seungyeon debuted as an actress, Areum did as a model. Because Seungyeon brought Areum over a lot, Jeongyeon had a lot of contact too. Eventually the two started to date, and didn't break up once during their relationship. Nayeon and Jeongyeon were completely the opposite. They hadn't broken up either yet, but they had fought with each other several times. Plus, Nayeon was not a model. She was an okay visual, and she sometimes got a compliment or two, but that was it. When Jeongyeon and Areum broke up, Jeongyeon had been incredibly sad and quiet. Eventually it had passed, but it was horrible to see her like that. Nothing was able to cheer her up. For Nayeon, who back then already had developped a crush on the younger girl, it was literal torture. Jeongyeon often cried on her shoulder. Nayeon helped her, even though it hurt her to know she was only seen as a friend. When she started to act like her old self again, Nayeon wasn't that surprised Jeongyeon started to hang out more with her. But to predict it'd eventually end up in the relationship of her dreams? No one could've seen that coming. Nayeon surely didn't. Nayeon looke down and sighed. This time she was the one to feel Jeongyeon pinch her hand with hers. She didn't look up, kept staring at the white sheets; she didn't feel reassured at all. "Can you move on that fast from someone you've been with for years whilst seeing her almost every day? I don't know..." she said softly, almsot inaudibly. Jeongyeon sighed for a moment. "You think I didn't move on?" Jeongyeon asked. Nayeon looked up now, but stayed silent, not sure what to say. She knew Jeongyeon loved her, but she was afraid she'd never love her as she loved Areum. That she'll always stay second choice, a rebound. Someone to play with, to spend time with when bored. To leave when someone better comes around... or comes back. Jeongyeon smiled weakly and let herself fall back onto the pillows. She placed her hands under her head and stared towards the ceiling. "Maybe I just... didn't have anything better to do. She used to be my everything, yes, but I guess that's because I didn't have much that were worth while. So yes, I stayed with her, because she was the best thing in my life. I used to think that she was the person who could love me the most, I used to think that she was the one. But she was just my first love, and I found out that the love between us, wasn't even that great. I treated her like a princess, but actually, she didn't give a damn about me. She has a new boyfriend, you know, only a month after we broke up. I moved on from her after I realized that I had been tricked by myself all the time. I was lonely for a while, and I wanted her back, just to have someone I could call mine. Someone I could lay next to in bed and hug, so I wouldn't feel so alone anymore. I thought that maybe I could forget that she moved on from me so quickly." Jeongyeon took Nayeon's hand and let their fingers intertwine again. The brunette sighed again. "You were not a rebound, Nayeon. I had had my time to grieve about my previous relationship, I had had my time to get over her. I got over her, and then fell in love again. You're the person who doesn't make me feel lonely, who I can cuddle with, who I can confide in. I realized that my relationship with Areum was completely fake and forced in comperison to the thing we have now. You make me feel so much better. So please, don't worry about Areum anymore." The younger girl pressed a kiss on the top of Nayeon's hand. "You're the one I love." Nayeon pressed her lips together to not start grinning widely. She looked up towards the ceiling and took a deep breath. Then, she let herself fall upon Jeongyeon's body again, hiding her face in the crook of her neck and wrapping her arms around her girlfriend's body. Only then she allowed herself to smile widely. Jeongyeon chuckled. "So, that means your insecurities are gone now?" she asked. Nayeon pushed herself up again, not hiding her grin anymore, and rolled her eyes playfully. "You better not have lied to me," she said. Jeongyeon laughed. "Never," she said, before the pulled Nayeon in for a deep, long passionate kiss. Nayeon's grin couldn't be whiped off her face that day. Not one word was lied. Nayeon became more and more sure of that as time passed by.

Husband series [4/8] | Yeosang
Word count: 2.7k Pairing: ex-husband!, police officer! Seonghwa x single mom! reader x prosecutor! Yeosang (police officers! San and Wooyoung, but they’re just here for the drama) Genre: fluff A/N: I took characters from my “he needs someone” imagine (i thought it’d be funnier ;) )
You had met Seonghwa when you were still quite young. He was a young police officer and you worked in a pretty big company, meeting each other was something quite hard due to your busy schedules. At first, you were surprised that he was a police officer and his stone-cold face, but when he warmed up to you, he was a whole other person. He was smiling and laughing, happy to be in your company. He didn't have to pretend or show any form of authority when you were around.
The only cloud on the horizon of your relationship was his work. He did day and night shifts, tiring him out in every way possible, making him so exhausted that every time he had some free time, he spent it sleeping or working out. You almost put a stop to your relationship because of this, but you managed to make it work. You were patient but you craved his affection but being in a relationship and not getting a lot of attention was frustrating. After a few months, he was asked to change shifts and got more free time. The service he was in wasn’t his cup of tea, but at least you got to see him more. Yes, he was grumpier and more irritable, but you managed to calm him down and clear out his problems with your affection.
You were very much in love with each other, it almost looked like a fairy-tale. He asked you to marry him a few weeks after learning that you were expecting your first child together, bringing you nothing but happiness. Seonghwa was required to change shifts again, him feeling very unhappy as his job wasn’t something he enjoyed. He ended up in the patrol team and everything started again. His work invaded your love life and almost ruined everything, so one night, you made your husband promise you something.
“Promise that, when our child will arrive, you’ll take days off to take care of us. The law allows a few days or week of paternity leave, so I need you to take them.” “I promise, honey,” he said as he linked his pinkie with yours with a wink.
Liar. You never knew where those promised free days went. After the birth of your son, Haneul, Seonghwa disappeared. He buried himself into his work and duties as if he weren’t ready to take care of a child, as if he were running away from his responsibilities. You had cried for nights, even days when he was in patrol, where you needed him the most. He was supposed to be home to help you out, take care of your child to let you rest, but he was never there. And when he came home, he was exhausted, almost dodging eating and showering. He was running away from you and your son like you were the plague, and it hurt you.
Your patience lasted two years, which was something you found rather impressive. One day, you were at the end of your tether, so you impulsively called a close friend of yours, who luckily was a lawyer. You filled divorce papers behind Seonghwa’s back and presented him the paper one night when he came back from his shift.
“Here, sign this.” You said as you placed the papers on the table, handing him a pen. “What for?” you didn’t answer and observed his jaw drop when he read the title of the contract. “Are you serious?” Seonghwa said, his voice wavering. It was rare to see the police officer lose his composure. “Are we really getting divorced?” “Yes, we are.” You declared, trying to stay as stoic as possible. “We made a common agreement that you’d take days off to help me with the baby, but since his birth, I haven’t seen you an entire day at home.” “I know baby, I’m sorry-” “Let me finish. I know your work is exhausting and the forces of order need you, but I need you too! Haneul needs you too, he needs his father to be home, to help him and watch him grow up. I need you to be here to help me, take care of things that could allow me to rest a bit. It’s tiring to be a mother too, you know! You didn’t keep your promise and I can’t live as if I was a single mom when I'm married, this is why I want you to fill out this form.” Seonghwa clenched his jaw but didn’t allow his tears to fall down, letting your words sink in his brain.
You were right and he was doomed. He wouldn’t be able to change your mind. Sadly, oh so sadly, he had lost the family he had started creating and there was nothing he could do against it. He made a huge mistake, the wound was too fresh and deep to stitch it. He swallowed thickly and unwillingly signed the paper under your watch, sniffing as he handed you the pen and papers.
“I’m sorry Y/N. I know it’s not an excuse, but I got scared. I know for a police officer, I’m such a coward, but I was scared to be short on money, so I worked harder and longer. I know that I shouldn’t have done this, but I was so scared and- I’m really sorry I messed up, that’s all I can say.” You sharply inhaled and took the papers from his grip, going to your shared bedroom, leaving your now ex-husband sheepishly standing up in the living room.
After weeks of moving out, moving on and start your life at the other side of the town, you were ready to give another try to dating. You had a few fails, men chickening out as they learnt that you were divorced and had a child. It saddened you and made you feel a bit unlovable, but your friend tried her best to make you feel better. One night, she called you as you had just put Haneul to bed, quickly answering as you didn’t want the ringtone to wake your son up.
“Y/N! I’m glad you answered. I have tea and it’s boiling hot!” your friend exclaimed through the phone as you gulped down a sip of water. “Tell me about it,” you slightly laughed as you sat down on your small couch, taking a quick break from being a mother. “So, I had a case last week and I got to meet my new boss, the new prosecutor.” “The one who replaces Mr Choi?” you asked and you could almost hear your friend nod on the other side of the phone. “Exactly- god, it was time for him to go I swear. But anyway, don't change the subject! Something happened this afternoon and you are involved too!” “Me?” you exclaimed, tilting your head and frowning, “what do you mean?” “You know, I have a picture of us in holidays framed on my desk. It was when we went to Paris, do you remember? And then, Mr Kang – the new prosecutor – came to my desk to give me something and he asked me if you were my sister. He looked IN LOVE I swear, he kept looking at you on the photo.” “You’re going crazy,” you snorted at her words but still felt your cheeks heat up. “I promise you that I’m not. Come at work once and the new prosecutor will be head over heels for you. I’m sure you’ll like him since you seem to have a thing for men in the justice system.” “Stop,” you almost yelled and giggled, knowing that she was right. “Try me,” she provoked you and you laughed together, “come have lunch with me tomorrow, if he’s not dead in love for you then you will at least get to eat with your best friend. Does it sound like a plan to you?” "A good plan. Alright,” you huffed, fake annoyed and grinned as your friend groaned over the phone.
As promised, you went out for lunch with your friend and managed to make up for the lost time, relaxed, your son eating at the day-care centre for once. He loved his teachers and the other children, so it wasn’t an issue for him to eat at school. Coming back from the restaurant, you walked with her in her work building, only to have her squeezing your forearm to get your attention, as you were going to go into the elevator.
“Look, he’s here.” “Who?” “Your future boyfriend, you idiot!” She whispered and you looked up, only to be met with hazel eyes. The man was walking a few meters away from you with a colleague, still wearing his prosecutor robe. You gulped and he slightly nodded his head your way to greet you, a small smile on his face as he walked past you. “See? I told you that he was your type.” Your friend proudly said, and you elbowed her, red flushing your cheeks. You didn’t answer and it was her turn to elbow you in the ribs. “Hm? Admit he’s your type.” “Okay, he’s fine. Are you happy now?”
“I’m only “fine”?” you both froze as you heard a deep voice behind you. You glared at your friend and she smirked at you, smiling at her boss and hastily walk towards the elevators. You turned around with an embarrassed smile and faced the handsome prosecutor. “Now, that’s embarrassing,” you mumbled and he laughed, tenderly looking at you. “It’s alright, I’m just teasing,” he said and you exhaled, relieved but you froze again at his words. “Are you free tonight? I want to get to know you," he asked as if it was the most normal thing in the world. You fell speechless and it took you seconds to register what he said. “Are you serious?” that’s all you managed to say and he nodded with a smile. “Do I look like I’m joking?” you shook your head but nodded right after. Confused and embarrassed, you whined and looked away. “Alright, I know a good place downtown. How about we meet there at 8 pm?” “Sounds good to me.” You answered and he beamed again, each smile making your heart melt a little more.
It was 7:55pm and you were already there, asking for a table for two. You ordered a lemonade and waited for your date to come, hoping that you wouldn’t be stood up on your first date. You gulped another sip of the sparkling water and almost choked as the prosecutor sat in front of you. Your change of clothes didn't go unnoticed to your date's face and you smiled as he complimented you on the dark blue dress you were wearing.
Everything went well, you finally got to know his name and Yeosang was a word that easily rolled off your tongue. You didn’t know but he loved it when you said his name and vice versa. He was sweet and intelligent, passionate about his work. Fortunately, he wasn't the type to only talk about him and he got to discover your centre of interests as well. He even started flirting, which was delicately done, never overstepping boundaries.
Your phone started ringing as Yeosang ordered dessert for the two of you, eyes going wide when you recognised the phone number of the day-care teacher. You excused yourself from the table and Yeosang nodded, giving the menu back to the waiter. The day-care centre was closing, and you needed to pick Haneul up, making you suddenly feel stuck. You told the woman that you’d get there as quickly as possible, but you might be a little late. You worryingly came back into the restaurant and Yeosang immediately frowned at your distressed state.
“Is everything alright?” you nodded, despite being on the verge of tears. The frown on Yeosang’s face never left and you deeply inhaled, ready to tell him the truth. "I know you're not, tell me what's wrong." He searched for your gaze but never caught it. “I- I need to pick up my son at the day-care centre because it’s about to close.” You mumbled, hoping that he’d never hear it, but of course he did, his eyes widening. “You have a child?” he said, and you nodded, your eyes never leaving the white tablecloth. A hesitant hand came across the table and rested against your trembling one. “I’m sorry, I won’t be able to eat dessert.” “Don't think too much about it. Let’s pick your little boy up.” He stood up and encouraged you to imitate him before catching a waiter’s attention to cancel your orders and went to pay the bill.
You exhaled and sent a quick message to your friend that your date would probably not see you again and she answered you almost immediately.
“What do you mean???” “That’s nonsense Y/N.” “Let’s talk about it when you are relaxed and have more time, alright? xx”
You faintly smiled at your friend’s words and felt a presence behind you. Yeosang smiled at you and softly laid his hand on your shoulder.
“Let’s go?” you nodded, and he walked you to his car, opening the passenger seat for you.
The ride to the day-care centre was dead silent and you’ve never felt so oppressed in your life. Why did you have to grow attached to him over a single date, when he was most likely to drop you after driving you home with your child?
“I’m really sorry, miss, I didn't see the time.” You said as soon as your son's teacher came into sight, patiently waiting for you with your son next to her. “It’s okay, I’m glad you made it safely here. Have a good evening and see you tomorrow!” she said with a smile before going back inside the centre. Before you could give Yeosang any further explanation, you heard the roaring sound of another car pulling up by the centre.
A police car.
Your ex-husband and two of his colleagues (who you recognised to be San and Wooyoung, the former being Haneul's godfather) got out of the car. Your ex-husband searched for your child and stopped dead on his tracks when he saw you and the man standing next to you, who was stroking Haneul’s cheek as you carried him.
“Seonghwa,” you said in a breath and Yeosang looked up. His eyes darkened and stopped touching your son’s cheek, clearing his throat. “Officer Park,” he said, extending his hand. “Prosecutor Kang,” your ex-husband answered, shaking it and you almost fainted.
Of course, the two of them had to know each other. Of course, they had to work together in the past. That’s what you got by dating men from the law. San eyed you out of the corner of his eye and tried to send you a warming smile as he noticed your distressed state.
“So?” Seonghwa said and you took action, turning towards Yeosang. “Yeosang, I’m going to make this clear and quick. This is my ex-husband, officer Park Seonghwa and he’s also Haneul’s father. You can do anything, get into a fight or yell at each other, call me a wimp, I don’t care, I’m going home. It might be cowardly from me but it’s too early now.” You said on the verge of tears and walked towards Yeosang’s car, your decision played with Seonghwa’s heartstrings, secretly hoping that you would walk towards his. You saw San's eyes widening and Wooyoung gasped, only to fall silent as your ex darkly stared at him. Seonghwa sighed, nodding at Yeosang, who was genuinely confused. The police officer sat back in his car but never drove away, head filled with thoughts, his colleagues following him only seconds later after waving one last time to Haneul. The prosecutor started his car after you closed your car door and drove you home without a word.
“Thanks for the date,” you gloomily mumbled as you neared your apartment building. “I had a lot of pleasure to get to know you.” He whispered back, checking if your son was sleeping, and he was. You faintly smiled at him and were about to leave his car when he stopped you by delicately wrapping his fingers around your wrist. “Will I get to see you again?”
