The manga industry, especially JUMP, needs to hurry up and do away with weekly scheduling for mangaka. There needs to better regulations put into place for their health and safety because this is pitiful. Two weeks - monthly updates should’ve already been the standard for the manga industry at this point. These money grabbers will only continue to put the lives of these artists at stake for the sake of capitalism unless some serious changes are implemented.

Rockstar Eddie Munson makes headlines by proposing to long-time partner Steve Harrington on stage.

Steve says yes which is only part of the reason they’re making headlines. The other reason is because he then proceeds to make the realization on an open mic that, “I need to get divorced.”

come out as a trans man to your school? youre a weird girl that is also trans. you are hated. you have 0 of the privelege of being treated as not a woman and all the horribleness of bigotry. you are whatever gender that will harm you most.

all of these things can be directed at the same person. you are not more priveleged than other trans people cuz some losers out there have the most basic radfem ass understanding of how oppression works. you culd pass perfectly but the moment they know you are trans you will experience the harmful intersectionality between misogyny and transphobia. to deny that ever happened and that there are complex experiences out there is to deny trans people of their oppression. no matter your intention it is horrible and self harming to the community.

I'd like to add a few things.

First, if you'd like to join in more of my shared suffering, there's two songs I associate with these paintings.

I didn't listen to these each time I worked on them, but I did think about them and they were a big inspiration for doing them.

Second, and most importantly, thank you for all the love and support you all have shown me on this. I've had a really hard time recently. Haven't done a lot of art, but I was so happy to have done these. I enjoyed the process so much. But I almost didn't post them. Even when I did, I thought just a handful of people would see, but it blew up (by my standards anyway)! So thank you, truly.

Third, I have a few more things like these planned. We'll see. But I'm hopeful. So keep an eye out.

Thinking about young Esteban, in a strange doctor’s office with needles in his back because he was sick so often while his peers in full health charged on ahead, Esteban’s failing body holding him back. Thinking about young Esteban, watching his parents sell their home and his father’s business to fund his karting career. Thinking about young Esteban, always knowing that chasing his dream will destroy his parents if he can’t perform on track. Thinking about young Esteban, weighing his formula 1 dream against a McDonald’s paycheck and very nearly finding the dream wanting. Thinking about young Esteban realizing that what he has above his peers is a willingness to suffer more than anyone else if that’s what it takes, and all he can do is pray that the suffering won’t last forever. Thinking about young Esteban in 2019, grinding shifts in the Mercedes simulator and trying to claw his way back on to the grid.

Thinking about Esteban who’s so happy nowadays, doing what he loves while surrounded by people who believe in him.

This show and its parallels

When other Yellowjackets fans, majority who are poc themselves, talk about how weird and frustrating it is that the writers introduced a random yte character and gave them a storyline when there were two (technically three but they killed off Lottie even when there was an opportunity for more) woc, who have been around since s1, that could've fit the mold instead (like Mari) and have actual personalities outside of building up/being the lapdog for another character. Or how often times many of the, limited, poc characters are often either treated poorly and killed off, or pushed to the side (Simone, reduced to the disposable black girlfriend trope and is nearly killed by her partner because she's in the way of a ship; Travis, since s1, had his trauma dismissed or ignored and was overly hated but no one talks about how he was SA'd by the girls he's now stuck with on top of having to eat his brother and not be able to grieve over it). How Taissa's whole storyline is just revolving around Van even with all the potential, especially given she's fighting to be free from her own mind, how Lottie's mental illness is treated so poorly as if it's not the butt of a joke then it's met with heavy criticism (and the only time she is met with sympathy for it, it's through the lens of a yte character embodying her and having an emotional conversation with her father). How you can have all of these reasons (and more) for being annoyed by Melissa's character or the direction of the show, and be met with #those fans downplaying these concerns, or just being overly antagonistic just because they find yte character #243 entertaining so obviously these conversations don't have merit. But this fandom has always had an...."interesting" way in which it discussed the poc characters on the show, so I'm not surprised.
