I'm very grateful there has been a lot of resonance in Ashtanga Magazine about the current state of yoga practice in the 21st century. Yoga is a very personal enquire. It's not a competition nor a performance. Is not the display of physical aptitudes nor the cult to the body. It's not a fitness regime for sure, even though the practice takes care of the human body like no other physical discipline. Yet, thousands of practitioners are daily distracted by the now so called Yoga Porn in social media. I have no judgment about practicing in skimpy clothing and I have many times in the past since our practice is hot and sweaty. I used to live in the tropics and south India is warm and humid all year long. I understand the term "porn" more in the sense of exposing such a subtle spiritual Sadhana without discrimination for business purposes. The Parampara itself is asking us to take a moment of reflection and place more attention to the ethical, the relationship, the silence and the self enquiry instead of the glamorous, the distracting and the superficial. The problem with celebrities is there is no real connection to them- no matter how many million likes they are given (many of them bought by the same industry). Fake news and stardom are not real and yoga is the awakening to truth and reality. Yoga is relationship, first of all relationship to ourselves and the choices we make: do they take us closer to who we are or do they strand us from our core being into someone else's perception of the practice? Yoga is an experience and a very personal and intimate one. Spiritual materialism is one of the loops into which the Samsara Hala Hala may take us. Every teacher and practitioner has the full right to display themselves as they wish since we live in a free world- but is up to use to use our discernment to understand everything that is shiny is not necessarily gold.... Where do you see yourself in a year? How do I see myself in one year? I see myself surrounded but wise souls, thirsty for the beauty and grace of a deeper way of life. I see myself doing my practice, close to my teacher and those I love. I see myself in peace and joy. I see myself working for peace and consciousness. I see myself surrounded by children- happy children, children that will be raised in a high frequency, in respect and devotion for nature. The old paradigm of greed and ambition is coming to an end: a new vision is emerging and many will know the power of spirituality and how it impacts the whole planet. Carta abierta a mis estudiantes Queridos amigos, Mientras preparo el regreso a Costa Rica después de dos años en India, les envío un saludo cordial desde Nueva Delhi. He aprendido mucho estos dos años sobre la practica y el desapego: he pasado momentos muy difíciles en soledad y crisis de salud muy serias debido a la alta contaminación ambiental en el norte de India. Muchas veces quise tirar la toalla les confieso, pero ganó el amor por mi país y la intención de compartir lo que es Costa Rica en esta tierra lejana. A pesar de todo, la experiencia fue muy enriquecedora a nivel espiritual y estoy muy agradecida con Dios y la vida por esta oportunidad de vivir en India y el crecimiento que he experimentado. Durante estos dos años mi práctica me sostuvo en las buenas y en las malas y por supuesto, la presencia a distancia de mi maestro; cultivé un sueño diariamente y ese es el sueño de la paz en el mundo. Comprendí que no podemos aspirar a algo que no conocemos personalmente y que somos muy privilegiados de contar con el regalo diario de nuestra práctica de yoga. El Ashtanga es mi pasión y ahora se transforma y expande a través de mi nuevo proyecto, Ashtangini. Ashtangini en una propuesta de paz para el mundo entero. Sé que cada uno de ustedes es un practicante de corazón y sé también de sus deseos por un mundo más amoroso y pacífico. Estaré viviendo en India y desde aquí, moviendo el emprendimiento al resto el mundo. Costa Rica siempre está presente en mí y por eso decidí iniciar el Tour Mundial de Ashtangini ahí con un Intensivo por la Luz. He contemplado con preocupación los sucesos en Costa Rica más la inestabilidad imperante en Nicaragua y Venezuela y siento que es mi deber regresar y con ustedes y muchos otros hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo por crear una ola de luz.
